Award shows no longer provide an amusing atmosphere – Kevin Hart snubs Oscars

American Comedian Kevin Hart has said he will not host the Oscars again.

Due to criticism over past anti-gay remarks he had made during stand-up routines a decade prior, Hart, who was scheduled to host the 2019 Oscars, withdrew from the role.

In a Variety Magazine interview, Kevin Hart said he would never host the Oscars.

Speaking to Sky News, Hart said: “Whatever little hope you had, I want to destroy it right now. Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics. It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore.

“I think they got it right one year where it was like just a bunch of personalities acting as the hosts and that’s a nice thing. It’s a collaborative thing, different people get to be responsible for act one, act two, act three, but you know, the days of it being a room for a comic, those days are done.”

Hart, who has hosted the MTV Movie Awards, the BET Awards, and the MTV Video Music Awards in the past, commended his fellow comedians on their successful hosting careers.

“Shout out to those that have cracked the code and done it right early on, you know, the Chris Rocks of the world, the Billy Crystals of the world, the girls we’ve had like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler. Ricky Gervais. There’s a lot of people that understand that if you’re not an industry comic, meaning a comic that has the relationships of all, then those rooms are very cold.

“So, me doing it is, of course, at an advantage, because I know the room and for me, and familiar with so many but, for others it’s not the same,” Hart said. “It’s not the gig that it was of old. It’s too much pressure on the idea of a comic and what’s jokes and not jokes. So, it’s tough.”

Kevin Darnell Hart is an African-American comedian and actor who is known for his roles in the Jumanji sequels including Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), Undeclared (2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Think Like a Man (2012), Ride Along (2014), The Secret Life of Pets (2016), Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017), Central Intelligence (2016) and Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw (2019).

“I can’t see myself dating any man anytime soon because of the heartbreaks I have suffered from my previous relationships. I am an easygoing person, but when it comes to relationships it is different. I have been through a lot and I am tired of heartbreaks.

“My last relationship was with Dr. UN and I don’t think I am going to date any man for now. I want to remain single for a long time and focus on other things,” Joyce Dzidzor Mensah stated.

When asked if this meant that she was giving up on finding love because no one was making moves towards her, Joyce responded that many men were making moves towards her, but she was just uninterested.

“I have always enjoyed helping the less privileged ones and I think that is what I will be doing more. Back in the day, it was always a joy when I used to go to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to give food and sometimes money to HIV/AIDS patients who had been neglected by their families. They were always happy to see me.”

Mr. Joseph, who is a clergyman and singer, said he would advise his son to be careful when choosing a wife.

He further revealed that Mohbad paid his wife’s dowry without consulting or getting permission from the family. He made it clear that he was surprised by Wunmi joining their family and that he had not anticipated the wedding.

Comedian and actor Michael Blackson, who is Ghanaian-American, has revealed that he is drawn to women who can cook.

In a recent interview, Mr. Blackson announced in a playful yet somewhat serious way, that any prospective life partner must be able to cook Ghana Jollof.

Speaking with Doreen Avio during his school’s first-anniversary festivities in Agona Nsaba, Central Region, Michael Blackson said a genuine Ghana Jollof is an essential requirement to win him over.

“Jollof test, you have to cook jollof and I have to taste it and it has to be great. I hang out with a lot of Nigerians, Sierra Leoneans, and even Chinese with fried rice. If my wife cannot represent my country with the perfect Ghana jollof, I can’t marry you,” Michael Blackson stated.

Blackson said he came very close to marrying his housekeeper because she made one of the best Jollof dishes, but it’s unclear if this culinary requirement is a must in his quest for love.

“I’m so close to marrying my housekeeper. She cooked some jollof the other day. It is part of the best jollof I have had in a very long time.”

A favourite cuisine of many Africans, jollof rice is a one-pot meal made with rice, tomatoes, onions, and a variety of spices.

In the 2010s, a friendly rivalry known as the “Jollof wars” arose between West African nations, particularly Nigeria and Ghana, over whose version is superior due to regional variances.

Till date, a winner has still not been declared as both countries are not ready to give up the ‘fight.’

“If I am not doing politics; I lay by my wife”-Sam George discloses

Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament (MP) Sam Nartey George has disclosed that he spends time with his wife during his days off politics.

Reflecting on the journey of his successful marriage, Sam George described the experience as a “good exercise.”

The Ningo-Prampram MP made this submission during an interview with host of Daily Show Berla Mundi on TV3, “If I am not doing politics, I lie by my wife,” Sam Nartey George stated.

According to the law maker, there is no such thing as a perfect marriage.

He argued that an inaccurate narrative about married couples’ lives has been propagated.

Selecting a compatible mate is, in the Ningo-Prampram MP’s opinion, the best method to prevent miscommunications that can result in divorce.

“ Marriage is work but it is a good exercise, especially when you find the right person. Marriage is not a noun but a verb.”

Speaking on the subject of high divorce cases in the country, the Ningo-Prampram stated that traditional media has played a major role in misinforming the youth about the concept of marriages.

Sam George argues that narratives through movies have created an impatient youth who assume marriages are without ups and downs.

“ People have watched too many Novela, movies have taught us a certain culture of impatience. No two people can live together without issues.

“ So we have been accustomed to it through the power of movies so that really is the challenge of marriage as well in young couples.”

Recently, Sam George and his charming spouse Vera commemorated their ten years together.

The MP for Ningo-Prampram has in numerous ways mentored the youth to be a better version of themselves.

Victor Ad, famous for his hit “Wetin We Gain,” categorically asserts that TB Joshua was a true man of God and personally attests to being a beneficiary of the late prophet’s miracles.

In a resolute statement, Victor Ad emphasizes the positive impact TB Joshua had on his life, stating, “Prophet TB Joshua fake ke? Person wey God use heal me from skin disease at the age of 6, restored my mum’s hand that was supposed to be amputated due to gunshot wound, or is it my sister that got healed from blindness during her primary school days. So many wonderful deeds!! Which of these are fake or staged?”

Victor Ad goes on to address the recent BBC documentary that raised allegations against TB Joshua, asserting that the British Broadcasting Corporation was fabricating a story.

He defends TB Joshua’s reputation by recounting personal experiences, stating, “When my family and I were homeless he gave us shelter and fed us. God is not a man. Say whatever you like. E no go change God from being God.”

The late Prophet TB Joshua has faced severe criticism following the BBC documentary, which alleged sexual crimes and staged miracles during his church services.

Victor Ad’s outspoken defense adds a significant voice to the ongoing discussion, portraying TB Joshua as a benefactor who positively impacted the lives of those in need.

Nana Bediako (Cheddar) slams government for favouring foreign events over local ones after cancelling ‘The Convention’

Ghanaian entrepreneur and presidential aspirant, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, has criticized the government for favoring foreign events over local ones. Speaking in an exclusive interview with TV3 Morning Show on Thursday, Bediako highlighted the Global Citizen Live concert held in three African countries last year as an example.

The concert, featuring international and local artists, aimed to raise funds and awareness for the fight against poverty, climate change, and inequality. Bediako expressed disappointment, stating that the donations went to the organizers, and the government missed an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s potential. In contrast, he referenced his own event, The Convention, a local initiative addressing African challenges.

Bediako remarked, “These people were extremely successful (Global Citizens) in doing these events in three different countries, but they didn’t leave anything for us Ghanaians. They took the donations with them. Let’s see how Ghana embraced them. The whole country went, our leaders were there, they gave speeches. Now let’s come to The Convention.”

He emphasized that The Convention, organized by a Ghanaian and supported by the Ghanaian company New Africa, faced challenges, including attacks on speakers and cancellations. Bediako questioned when Africans would support their own, pointing out the contrast in appreciation between foreign and local events.

“The person that was behind the event was a Ghanaian, and the company that invested in the initiative is also a company from Ghana, New Africa. The speakers were attacked, it was cancelled, we were restricted.”

“The point I am trying to make here is, when are Africans going to support their own? Anything that is our own, we are against our own. That is why I am using the two events. The foreign events are appreciated, but the local is not,” he noted.

The Convention, initially scheduled for January 7 at Independence Square, was postponed after the government withdrew the permit, citing an “unforeseen state event.” Organized by Bediako’s New Africa Foundation, the event aimed to bring together prominent pan-Africanists to discuss solutions for Africa’s development.

Bediako, founder and CEO of the Kwarleyz Group, a conglomerate in real estate, finance, and property management, also announced his 2024 presidential candidacy under the New Force movement. He expressed a desire to bring a new vision and leadership to Ghana, empowering the youth and marginalized communities.

Kennedy Agyapong threatens explosive revelations on Asenso-Boakye’s alleged corruption at presidency

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has threatened to expose the corrupt practices of his fellow MP and Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye, if he is re-elected as the parliamentary candidate for the Bantama constituency.

Addressing delegates during a meeting on January 11, 2024, Agyapong accused Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Works and Housing, of engaging in unethical behavior during his tenure as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House. Agyapong alleged that Asenso-Boakye accepted bribes amounting to US$20,000 from investors seeking access to President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Agyapong, known for his straightforward communication style, declared, “If you make a mistake and vote for Asenso, you will see the revelations I will bring out. Yes, I am telling you; it’s a condition. If you don’t want me to talk, vote against him. If you want me to talk, vote for him, and I challenge you because we won’t allow you to destroy Ghana. We have no other place to go.”

He went on to caution against supporting what he deemed a corrupt politician, emphasizing that Asenso-Boakye does not deserve to hold his current position. Agyapong linked his earlier cautionary statements about members disgracing President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House to Asenso-Boakye, stating, “If you remember, I cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) people that were disgracing Akufo-Addo, those at the Jubilee House taking money before allowing people to see the President. I was referring to Asenso. Today I was referring to Asenso.”

Asenso-Boakye, who is facing off against Ralph Agyapong in the upcoming primary on January 27, 2023, is yet to respond to these allegations. The primary is expected to be closely contested, with the winner becoming the NPP’s candidate for the Bantama Constituency in the 2024 general elections.

Asenso-Boakye has previously faced bribery allegations, including a viral video where a businessman accused him of demanding money for an introduction to President Akufo-Addo. Asenso-Boakye has consistently denied involvement in any corrupt practices.

The Bantama Constituency, a stronghold of the NPP in the Ashanti region, is crucial to the party’s electoral base. The NPP has held the seat since 1996 and secured a significant 77.8% margin in the 2020 elections.

The upcoming primary is anticipated to shape the political landscape in Bantama, determining the candidate who will face the National Democratic Congress (NDC) contender in the 2024 general election.
