“Following yesterday and today’s medical review in Torino and Pittsburgh, it is extremely painful to [say] Paul Pogba will still need recovery time from his surgery,” Pimenta told Telefoot on Monday.
“For this reason, Paul will not be able to join [the] Juventussquad before the World Cup break, nor the French national team in Qatar. If wishful thinking would change things, Paul would be playing tomorrow.
“But what changes things are hard work, resilience and discipline, all of which are the only things in Paul’s mind [during] these challenging times.
“Paul will continue working [and] giving his very best to be back on the pitch for the fans and his team as soon as possible.”

Former Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama has urged the Black Stars to beat Uruguay in the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar next month.
After an entertaining game against the two-time world champions, the Black Stars were eliminated at the quarterfinals during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

“Unfortunately, we are in a group of death. The teams in our group are the strongest and look at what faith has made, bringing Uruguay into our Group again,” former President Mahama said as quoted by ghanafa.org.
“It will be sweet revenge if we score them and so even if you don’t beat anybody, just beat Uruguay for me and let’s pay Suarez back for what he did to us.”

“I urge that all Ghanaians should rally behind the Black Stars. The Black Stars in the past was what united us and any time the stars were playing, there was no political affiliation or ethnic orientation as we all supported them,” former President Mahama said as quoted by ghanafa.org.
“Recently, it doesn’t seem to be the same and I urge that we put all political considerations aside and know that, that is our best national team and for the boys to have the kind of encouragement to give their best on the world stage.”
“They need the support of the whole nation, simply put, we must depoliticize the Black stars. If the stars win, it’s not credit to one political party or the other, but to all Ghanaians.”
He added, “It doesn’t matter under which administration it wins the cup or not, we must know that the boys are from all over the country who are not even political. Let’s all support them because any-time they are going to play, I play my part by tweeting and sending them words of encouragement and I am their number one fan.””Sometimes I get heartache but now that I am a senior citizen, I have to take it slow. Our team had a good second half against Brazil and normally with our team, it is with settling in and settling down. When we go to a tournament, it takes time for us to settle and play our real soccer.”

Workers from Africa, Asia are yet to receive reparations with 28 days to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Since preparations for the global showcase began, Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International (AI), among other human rights groups, have exposed how migrant workers were abused.
The abuses have resulted in deaths and injuries. There have also been reports of serial wage abuses and exorbitant recruitment fees.
The reports drew the attention of the tournament’s major sponsors, committed to working towards reparations through a remedy fund and improving working conditions in Qatar’s construction industry.
HRW’s deputy Middle East director, Michael Page, said he was worried the World Cup might kick off without migrant workers receiving justice.
He added in a statement: “With 30 days left until the tournament, there is a slim window for FIFA and Qatari authorities to correct course and commit to remedying past abuses that have stained the 2022 World Cup.”
HRW interviewed the families of migrant workers who died on construction sites and several workers injured or abused in the line of duty.
With promises of good returns working to prepare the biggest soccer showcase, many Africans paid exorbitant recruitment fees to get jobs in Qatar but were underpaid.
An Indian parent, whose child died in Qatar, told HRW he was struggling to pay back the money his son took from villagers in his hometown to apply for a job.
“My son went to Qatar after borrowing [R17 000] from many villagers. Now everyone keeps asking for it.”
He said: “They say that I must have received compensation for my son’s death, but I haven’t received a single rupee. How will I repay them? I don’t even have land to sell to pay them.”
In its final report ahead of the tournament, AI said while there was a notable change in Qatar‘s labour laws, weak institutions saw “human rights abuses persist on a significant scale”.
“With the World Cup looming, the job of protecting migrant workers from exploitation is only half done, while that of compensating those who have suffered abuses has barely started,” said the human rights organisation’s Steve Cockburn.
HRW and AI urged football governing bodies from Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, and Cameroon – the African countries participating in the global tournament – to take a stand.
However, a month later, none came out to condemn the workers’ treatment.

“So, I am happy to bless you and to really pray for you that when you get onto the field the good Lord will be with Ghana and make sure that we score.
“We are good, I always watch us play, I know it’s easier talking when you are outside but the whole point is that I think our footballers deserve credit for what they do with the kind of dedication that your team have shown, I have a good feeling that this time we will go places.
“We are trying to raise funds to send some supporters travel to Qatar to support the team as we need to have a critical number of people who will be responsible to cheer the team on to victory.
“Also, be rest assured that we will do our best to provide you with the necessary resources and other technical needs to make sure that the team succeeds. We are good, we just need that little magic to break boundaries,” she added.

“Ghana needs to identify one strong system and master it,” Gyan said.

The former Liberty Professionals striker remains the country’s all-time leading goal scorer with six goals having featured in 2006, 2010, and 2014 in Germany South Africa, and Brazil respectively.
In the history of the global showpiece, the farthest an African country has reached the Mundial is the quarter-final round; Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002, and Ghana in 2010.
Gyan suggests the quarter-final has been Africa’s long-standing boundary simply because there’s no calculated attempt from the continent.
“We have to make sure we plan ahead, I think that is our problem. Some countries plan years – let’s say ‘in 10 years we have to win the World Cup’. So it’s a plan people take, and that’s why I’m saying it’s a process.
“I’m sure an African country will win it one day, but I don’t know when,” Gyan said in an interview.
“As an African, that is my prayer, I want an African country to also win it, that is what every African is hoping for [but] it depends how the teams approach the tournament. I remember in 2006, the Czech Republic was number 3 in the World, the United States, was number 5, and then there was Germany and Italy. So we [Ghana] were underdogs, everyone thought we were going home.
“But we were able to get through to the next stage of the competition. When you are going to a tournament, how you approach it matters, not the kind of players you have. Statistically, there are favorites, but you have to go and see what happens.”
Meanwhile, Gyan, 36, has shared his desire of making a return with the Black Stars ahead of this year’s edition in Qatar, a wish many Ghanaian faithful are against since he has been out of professional football for close to a year.
President Akufo Addo has vowed to fly supporters to Qatar to support the Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup.
He made these comments after Mr. Kennedy Agyepong, who is the Chief Executive Officer and President of the Kenpong Group of Companies visited him at the Jubilee House on Tuesday.
Kenpong Travel and Tours are the official airline to airlift football fans from Ghana to the Arab country for the Mundial.
Ghana will hope to put up a decent performance in the global showpiece having failed to progress from the group phase at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
President Akufo Addo during the World Cup trophy tour in Ghana however said the Black Stars could become the first African country to lift the ultimate.
“I am of the firm conviction that Ghana will not only participate in the competition but will make the whole nation and by extension the African continent proud, with a great performance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ghana have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
The 2022 Mundial kick off from November 20 to December 18.

It will be the duo first meeting between the two players whose countries have been paired in the same group at the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar.
Ajax will play host to Napoli at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Tuesday night in matchday 3 of the Champions League.
The South Korean is expected to take notes on the in-form attacker before the teams break camp in November for the World Cup in Qatar.
The Black Stars midfielder is set to start against Napoli tonight after making substitute appearance on Saturday in Ajax 1-1 draw against Go Ahead Eagles.
Kudus has been in a rich vein of form for Ajax this season scoring 7 goals and providing 1 assist in 11 matches.
He has excelled in the first two Champions League games for Ajax, scoring against Rangers and Liverpool respectively.
Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan wants the Black Stars to identify a defined style of play ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ghana lost 3-0 to Brazil and recovered to beat Nicaragua 1-0 on Tuesday in Spain through a strike from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
According to Gyan, the Black Stars must identify the right system to propel the team to glory at the World Cup.
“Ghana needs to identify one strong system and master it. We have good players but we need to find the right system and be very good at it. We can make tweaks when necessary but we need one system that one system that we are very good at,” he said.
The Black Starsis returning to the global showpiece after missing out in Russia 2018.

Rio Ave F.C. striker, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu says he merits a place in Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup due to his impressive performance in the Portuguese league.
The Tamale-born striker scored 11 goals last season after making 33 appearances for the club.
However, in the ongoing season, Aziz has found the back of the net four times.
With the Mundial scheduled to kick off on November 20, the promising forward hope to earn a call-up.
“I think so, the numbers speak for me. Ghanaian websites and journalists talk about me, so I believe, let’s see,” he told zerozero.pt.
“I hope to have the opportunity to represent my country one day and if it’s at the World Cup, perfect.
Aziz also revealed that he has spoken to the assistant coach of the team, Mas-Ud Dramani but he is yet to speak to Otto Addo, who is the head coach of the side.
I haven’t spoken to the head coach yet, but I have already spoken to one of the assistants [ Mas-Ud Dramani ], who is from Tamale, like me.
“We speak the same dialect and he told me that there is a possibility that I will be called. He asked me to keep scoring goals regularly because the coaching staff is attentive,” he added.

Dan Owusu, a legend in Ghana, criticized Andre Ayew for claiming that veteran players might be given preference in choosing the team for the 2022 World Cup.
Although the newcomers are skilled, Ayew told Aljazeera that “every position is competitive” because “we already have a quality team that qualified for the World Cup.”
“With the exception of veteran players, who may have an advantage, I don’t think anyone has a spot in the squad locked up just yet. Everyone has an opportunity to establish their worth on the field, giving the coach additional alternatives and formations to choose from. I also think it helps to have new players with the appropriate mindset.
His comment has created a heated argument within the footballing fraternity and on Social media.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Dan Owusu, who won the Ghana Premier League goal king gong for three consecutive times says it is unfortunate for the Al Saad star to make such comment.
“It’s unfortunate, Ayew shouldn’t have said that because if you are an old player and underperforming there is no way you should be in the team. It all bounds down to performance and not seniority” he said.
Former Ghana international Dan Owusu has expressed worry about the form of the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Ghana forward expressed displeasure about the performance of the team ahead of the mundial.
“Our performance is very worrisome at the moment. Our game play is very abysmal and it’s time we improve because the world up is just few months away”
“Nicaragua isn’t a strong country that we should suffer to beat. Our game against Nicaragua was a very low-profile match. That match wasn’t needed for a country preparing for World Cup”
“Many of players in the current Black Stars have good techniques individually, unfortunately, there is no team work. We still don’t have good potent goal scorers. I seriously don’t have confidence in the current strikers we have. But I hope as time goes on our strikers build confidence when they get in front of goal,” he said.
Former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston says he will be very happy if Black Stars head coach Otto Addo shows Ghanaians the team he will be taking to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
At the end of the friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua, many have said it appears coach Otto Addo does not have a team for the upcoming mundial.
Speaking to Radio Gold, Laryea Kingston says he would love to see Otto Addo show Ghanaians the team he will be taking to the world cup.
According to him, this will help the coach to focus on the team as part of the preparation for the tournament.
“For me, I will be very happy to see Otto [Addo] show Ghanaians that this is his team that he is taking to World Cup because it’s very close, he still has one more friendly to play then you are in the main tournament.
“I will prefer him focusing on the core team, a team that is going to appear and is going to play for the Black Stars in the tournament,” Laryea Kingston said.
In November Coach Otto Addo will play one final friendly with Ghana before the 2022 FIFA World Cup starts in Qatar.
Otto Addo, the coach of Ghana, is unconcerned with the Black Stars’ performance before the World Cup in Qatar.
The Black Stars are participating in the world championship after being absent in Russia in 2018.
Otto Addo has led the national team to the 2022 World Cup, although in his eight games since taking over, he has only won two of them. His first two games were against Nigeria.
Because both contests were tied, Ghana was guaranteed a spot in the tournament in Qatar based on away goals.
Since then, Ghana have only beaten Madagascar once, a 3-0 victory in Cape Coast in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, and Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Nicaragua.
The run has included defeats to Japan (4-1) and Brazil (3-0), as well as draws with the Central African Republic (1-1) and Chile (0-0).
“We are using these matches to try a lot of things, not only on the players but also for my side on systems, so we have to find that together. This is very important for us as a team.
“We have new players in each position we need to integrate and a whole a lot of things and we also want to use these games for everyone to show themselves at the training and also in the games and I am not worried.
“We have to take the right conclusions out of every match and prepare ourselves for the World Cup.”
Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan, has hit out at midfielders of the national team for not passing the ball to strikers who make good runs.
Gyan took to twitter to express his frustration during the Ghana vs Nicaragua friendly, which the Black Stars won 1-0.
Though Gyan does not mention names, it is believed he was referring to Inaki Williams who played as Ghana’s lone striker against the Central Americans.
Throughout the game, Williams made some great dashing runs but the final ball was never passed to him, prompting Gyan to take to twitter to comment on the development.
“A striker makes a good run and no pass. Very frustrating,” he tweeted.
A 35th minute goal from youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku gave Ghana victory in Spain in their penultimate pre-World Cup friendly. The team lost 3-0 to Brazil four days earlier.
Ghana will next take on Switzerland in November in their last preparatory game before the World Cup begins on November 20, 2022.
The Black Stars engaged in two international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua during the break.
Ghana lost 3-0 to Brazil but recovered to beat Nicaragua 1-0 on Tuesday in Spain through a strike from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
A chunk of Ghanaian fans were unhappy about the performances of the Black Stars in the two friendlies played.
But according to the Sports Minister, the Black Stars team will be in a good shape before the commencement of the World Cup.
“This is a process, we are building a team and I know that by the time we get to Abu Dhabi where we are going to have our final game, the team would have been so good and Ghanaians would see the difference,” he told Max TV.
Meanwhile, Mustapha Ussif was left to rue missed chances in the Black Stars narrow win over Nicaragua.
“We were expecting more goals in the game but at the end of the day we created a lot of chances but couldn’t convert them into goals,”

Alfred Duncan, the Fiorentina midfielder, has a few days off before returning to Florence for the start of training.
The former Black Stars player spent some time with Marco Materazzi, a former Inter defender who spent the weekend in Salento, Masseria Corsano at the Ghanaian player’s property.
The two former Inter Milan players met in a place where many other celebrities choose to relax and enjoy the beauties of Puglia.
Duncan began training with Inter Milan in the summer 2010. But due to FIFA regulations, he formally joined Inter in March 2011, after his 18th birthday. He made his Serie A debut for Inter in August 2012.

e. Nobody sees us as favourites, which is expected. So we know we’re not going into any of the matches as favourites but we’re there to fight and make an impact. No doubt it will be a very difficult group for every team and all we have to do is be ready, focused, determined, full squad and have a bit of luck.
If we have our full squad, we can seriously disrupt a lot of teams. I am not concerned because I know what Ghana is capable of” he told Al Jazeera.

The West African powerhouse is returning to the global showpiece after missing out in Russia 2018.
Ghana has been paired in Group H against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea at the World Cup.
Ahead of the tournament in the Asian country, Andre Ayew, who plies his trade for Al Sadd has disclosed things are in place for the Black Stars to have a successful World Cup.
“Everything is in place for us to have a successful World Cup. We must have the best preparation possible but, most importantly, all of your players must be fit at that time. We played Brazil, we’ll play Nicaragua and Switzerland before the World Cup. They are all big games that will be tough even though they are friendlies.
These matches are beneficial because we put ourselves to the test and come back as a team to maintain bonding and unity. Normally, we have two to three weeks before the World Cup, but this time we only have about nine days. It’s not ideal but we have to adapt” he told Al Jazeera.

Ghana could surprise a few in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar as their potential starting XI is packed with quality.
In the 2022 tournament, Ghana will be one of five representatives from Africa alongside Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia and Morocco.
Against all odds, the Black Stars reached the quarters finals of the 2010 world cup in South Africa and was one penalty away in stoppage time from getting through to the semis but Asamoah Gyan failed to convert and Ghana ended up losing in a penalty shootout.
They qualified for the latest edition of the tournament by getting the better of Nigeria on away goals in a two legged play off.
It was Arsenal man Thomas Partey’s away goal that made the difference.

Though the Dutch champions lost the match 2-1 after a late Joel Matip winner, Kudus drew plaudits from many fans for his performance.
How far will Ghana get in the world cup? Let us know in the comments
Ivan Toneyhas said he is ready to seize his England chance ahead of the World Cupto be held in Qatar.
According to him, he has “been working for this moment” following his maiden call-up.
The Brentford forward has been included in Gareth Southgate’s final pre-World Cup squad for the upcoming Nations League clashes with Italy and Germany.
It represents the last chance for outsiders to press for inclusion – and as the only uncapped member of the squad, Toney looks as if he could be the proverbial bolter.
Struggles with either injury or form for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ollie Watkins and Patrick Bamford may have paved the striker’s way, and speaking on Tuesday, he says he does not intend to let the moment pass.
“This is my opportunity now,” he stated. “I’ve got to take it with both hands. I’m excited, I’m confident, I’m very hungry.
“I’ve been working for this moment and here it is now, so I’m not going to let it go by me, by any means.”
It is not the first time Toney has flirted with international football, having previously been approached to represent Jamaica, though he explained priorities elsewhere ultimately shut down any switch in allegiance.
“I turned them down because at the time I was focusing on the play-offs,” he added. “That was the main thing, and then it kind of fizzled out.
“I felt like my chances were getting bigger and bigger to play for the England squad.”
Al Sadd star Andre Ayew is only three games away from becoming Ghana’s most capped player.
The former Swansea City and West Ham midfielder is currently second, two behind current record holder Asamoah Gyan (109), and is set to catch his former teammate this month.
Ghana will play pre-World Cup friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua, and Ayew will play in both games as the Black Stars technical team approaches the game with seriousness.
The two games will tie him with Gyan, but he will surpass the former Sunderland man before the World Cup starts, as the Black Stars have a friendly against Switzerland scheduled.
Ayew made his 100th appearance for Ghana in November 2021, scoring the only goal against South Africa in a crucial World Cup qualifying match in Cape Coast.
“It’s been an honour of a lifetime to play for my country and a blessing to be able to get 100 caps. Thanks to all players and coaches who have helped me all the way. Thanks also to the GFA and the Minister of Sports. God bless our homeland Ghana and make us Great and Strong,” said Ayew after the game.
Ayew made his debut for Ghana as a teenager in 2007 and has worked his way up to captain the four-time African champions.
Ayew has 23 goals to go along with his 106 appearances.
With 10 goals, he is Ghana’s all-time leading scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Since his appointment as captain in 2019, Ayew has shown exemplary leadership that should be emulated.
Prior to the 2022 World Cup, Boateng, who just quit his position as Aston Villa U2-assistant 3’s coach, has been scouting Ghanaian talents in the UK.
The Black Stars technical staff, led by Otto Addo, is making every effort to put together a strong team that can honorably represent Ghana in Qatar later this year.
As part of his scouting mission, the Black Stars assistant trainer met with the former England youth star who has switched allegiance to play for the West African powerhouse.
The Brighton defender is among the five Europe-born Ghanaian players who have switched nationality to represent the four-time African champions.
George Boateng has already met Jordan Ayew and Jeffery Schlupp who plies their trade for Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
He is expected to visit other national team players ahead of the 2022 World Cup tournament.
Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has said he will work extremely hard to earn a spot with the senior national football team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In a BBC interview, Gyan revealed his intention to play actively for the Ghana Black Stars. Since his announcement, Gyan has received divided opinions from citizens.
According to his critics, Gyan has been inactive since leaving Legon Cities at the end of the 2020/21 season hence cannot feature at the World Cup.
But according to Gyan while speaking on the Dentaa Show, he will resume active football with any club in the Ghana Premier League to present him acceptable for a call-up.
“Anything can happen, but I want to earn the call-up rather. I want to start playing competitively. It could be anywhere. It could be in the Ghana [Premier] League,†he said.
“I want to see myself in a team playing week in and week out before I can consider going to the World Cup,” he added.
Ghana have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
The 2022 World Cup is scheduled to kick off from 20 November to 18 December.
Ghanaian midfielder, Mohammed Kudus is still wanted by Everton despite Ajax’s refusal to release him during the current transfer window
The Toffees have identified the former Nordsjaelland midfielder to boost their squad this summer transfer window.
Kudus has received interest from clubs in Europe and has been linked with a move away from Ajax in search of more play time as the World Cup draws nearer.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form in pre-season with four goals in four games but has failed to break into the first team under coach Alfred Schreuder since the start of the season despite being the club’s most impressive player in the pre-season.
The Ghana international has made only two appearances all as a substitute in the second half for Ajax this campaign.
With the World Cup coming up in a few months, the Ghana star is frustrated and wants out of Ajax in search of more playing time.
However, Dutch news outlets are reporting that Ajax are unwilling to release unhappy Kudus in this window.
The Dutch giants are yet to also receive an official offer for Kudus from the interested clubs.
With the 2022 World Cup looming, Ghana’s talented playmaker does not want to risk his starting place in the Black Stars squad which led to his decision to demand the move.
The Ghanaian midfielder joined Ajax from the Danish side Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2020 for nine million Euros.
The attacking midfielder had a blistering start to his career at Ajax commanding first-team place until an injury in his opening UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool stalled his progress.
The 22-year-old has informed Ajax’s leadership that he wants to leave the team in search of regular playing time, and is getting ready to leave for Liverpool as soon as possible on Saturday morning to finalize a loan move to the Toffees.
Sources revealed that his agents met the club’s bosses on Monday to demand the move away from the club.
It has been agreed that the player will be loaned to Everton with the option of a permanent purchase at the end of the season.
With the 2022 World Cup looming, Ghana’s talented playmaker does not want to risk his starting place in the Black Stars squad which led to his decision to demand the move.
Kudus has been unhappy over his bench role under coach Alfred Schreuder since the start of the season despite being the club’s most impressive player in the pre-season.
The utility player scored four goals in four matches for the Dutch giants in pre-season after recovering from a serious injury that blighted the blistering start to his Ajax career.
Having recovered from the injury and performed well during the pre-season, the Ghana playmaker was expecting more playing time this season but he has been consigned to the bench with substitute appearances.
With the Black Stars set to play in Qatar at the World Cup and beig a key player, Kudus insists he wants to be in the best shape to play for his country.

The attacking midfielder had a blistering start to his career at Ajax commanding first team place until injury in his opening UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool stalled his progress.
Although he is now fully fit again and excelled during the pre-season coach Schreuder has placed him on the bench.
Kudus has bluntly told the Dutch side he does not see himself as a bench warmer for another year which forced Everton boss Frank Lampard to swoop for his signature.
The personal terms for the player have been agreed with some few areas to be sorted out between Ajax and Everton.

Former Great Olympics head coach, JE Sarpong has called on the technical team to improve the Black Stars midfield ahead of the World Cup.
Ghana, who are in Group H will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.
Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.
With less than five months to the start of the global showpiece, the veteran trainer speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports reiterated that the technical handlers must do everything to improve and stabilize the midfield.
“First and foremost, the technical team should do everything to strengthen the midfield and attack of the black stars because we have been struggling in those areas for some time now,†he noted.
Touching on defence and goalkeeping, Coach Sarpong said they had so far stood the test of time in recent matches and were likely to improve as they continued to play together.
“Our defence has stood the test of time and is likely to improve as time goes on. Goalkeeping is quite stable but needs improvement,†he stressed.
