Russia’s Defense Ministry has said that, they used their weapons to destroy 10 missiles that were made in the US and were headed for Crimea. This happened on Wednesday while US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Kyiv.
The government said that 10 missiles from Ukraine, given to them by the US, were destroyed over the Black Sea near Crimea.
Sevastopol leader Mikhail Razvozhayev said that their air defenses stopped Ukrainian missiles over the Black Sea and near the Belbek air base. The parts of the missiles that were shot down fell into neighborhoods where people live, but no one was hurt, Razvozhayev said.
The Defense Ministry announced that Russian air defenses shot down nine Ukrainian drones, two Vilha rockets, two anti-radar HARM missiles and two Hammer guided bombs over the Belgorod region on Wednesday. Belgorod Governor Vuacheslav Gladkov said that two people got hurt in the village of Dubovoye when a rocket from Ukraine caused their house to catch on fire.
The military reported that five Ukrainian drones were knocked down in the Kursk region and three drones were shot down in the Bryansk region.
The Defense Ministry also said that a drone from Ukraine was shot down over the Tatarstan region. Tatarstan is more than 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) to the east of the Ukraine border.
Vasily Golubev, who is in charge of Rostov region, said that two small flying machines attacked a place where fuel is stored. He said no one got hurt and there was no fire.
Ukraine has been using drones to attack oil refineries and fuel depots in Russia for several months, and it has caused a lot of damage.
The Ukrainian attacks happened when Russian soldiers were attacking northeast Ukraine. This was the biggest attack on the border since the invasion started.
In the past two days, Moscow has taken over an area of land that’s about 100 to 125 square kilometers (38 to 47 square miles). This includes seven villages, most of which are already empty. This information comes from two experts who keep track of the fighting using public sources.
Blinken came to Ukraine to support and encourage them during the new Russian attack. He told them that they have support from the United States and will soon receive military help that will make a big difference in the fighting.

Blinken calls on Israel and Hamas to proceed with cease-fire agreement
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, talked with leaders of Israel on Wednesday to try to make them agree to stop fighting with Hamas. He said it’s important to make a deal now to stop the fighting and bring peace to Gaza.
He said Hamas will be responsible if we can’t make a deal work.
Blinken is visiting the region for the seventh time since the war started in October. He is trying to make a deal between Israel and Hamas to avoid Israel invading the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where many Palestinians are staying.
The current discussions seem important, but the two parties still disagree on a key issue – whether the war should stop as part of a possible agreement.
We really want a ceasefire to bring the hostages back home. We want it now. The only reason it might not happen is because of Hamas, said Blinken to Israel’s President Herzog at a meeting in Tel Aviv.
“There is a suggestion that we need to discuss, and as we’ve already mentioned, we don’t want any delays or excuses. ” He said, “It is now the time. ”
Blinken said the agreement would also help send important food, medicine, and water to Gaza. The war there has caused a big problem for the people and forced many of them to leave their homes.
Blinken also talked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but we don’t know what they talked about yet.
Before, Blinken briefly said hello to a group of people outside his hotel who were asking for the release of American hostages held by Hamas, after meeting with Herzog and the hostages’ families.
The protesters were saying “SOS, USA, only you can save the day” and “In Blinken we trust, bring them home to us,” as they asked him to help their situation with Netanyahu.
Blinken told the families that there was a good plan on the table and that Hamas needs to agree to it. “We are determined and won’t stop until we reunite you with your loved ones,” he said.
He made these comments at the end of his trip to the region. Before that, he had visited Saudi Arabia and Jordan. He told Hamas to accept the new proposal from Israel, which he thought was very fair.
The State Department said he will go to an Israeli port where help for Gaza is coming in.
The United States has strongly supported Israel’s war since Hamas attacked southern Israel on Oct 7. However, it is very upset about the large number of Palestinian civilians who have been hurt in Gaza. It is also very against Israel’s idea to attack Rafah, which is the southernmost city in Gaza. Around 15 million Palestinians have gone to Rafah to escape the fighting in other parts of the territory.
Washington told Israel not to attack in a way that would endanger innocent people.
Netanyahu says he will attack Rafah, which he thinks is the last place where Hamas has control in the coastal area. He said he will do this even if there is no ceasefire agreement.
The deal being talked about will release many hostages in exchange for a six-week break in fighting. -

Israeli attack on Rafah in Gaza would be “mistake” to bring down Hamas – Blinken
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that an important Israeli attack on the southern Gaza town of Rafah would be a “mistake” and “not needed” to defeat Hamas. This shows that the relationship between the United States and Israel is getting worse.
Blinken had an important meeting with important Arab leaders in Egypt to talk about stopping the fighting in the Middle East. This is his sixth time going there since the war started. They also discussed plans for what will happen in Gaza after the war is over. He said we need to stop fighting right away and release the Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The US, Egypt, and Qatar have been working on negotiations and getting closer to an agreement. The talks will keep going in Qatar on Friday with important people.
Blinken is going to Israel on Friday to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team that makes decisions about war. The fighting between Netanyahu and President Biden about how to fight the war will probably be more important than their discussions. Netanyahu really wants to start a ground attack on Rafah, where a lot of Palestinians are hiding from Israeli attacks.
Netanyahu said that Israel needs to invade Rafah in order to destroy Hamas after the deadly October events. Israel started bombing Gaza and launching an attack after 7 people were taken as hostages.
“We don’t think it’s a good idea to have a big military operation in Rafah. ” “We don’t need to work with Hamas, and that’s important,” said Blinken at a press conference in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. A big attack would cause more innocent people to die and make the situation in Gaza even worse, Blinken said. He also said that he will be talking about different plans with Israeli officials in the coming days, to find a better solution.
The US has changed its stance on a Rafah operation a lot in the past few days. At first, US officials said they couldn’t agree to a big attack on the city unless there was a safe plan to get civilians out. US officials said they have looked into it and think it’s not possible because there are too many people living there. They are suggesting that the only way to prevent harm to civilians is to use operations that specifically target known Hamas fighters and leaders.
However, Netanyahu promised to disregard warnings and proceed with the Rafah operation during a 45-minute call with GOP senators on Wednesday. He also criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for speaking out against the number of innocent people killed in Gaza and for calling for new elections in Israel in a speech that Biden later said was “good. ”
Netanyahu said Israel will continue in Rafah, as per the senators in the meeting. John Kennedy, a Republican from Louisiana, said Netanyahu clearly stated that he and the people of Israel plan to fight the war with all their strength and won’t let Senator Schumer or President Biden tell them what to do.
Israeli critics say that Netanyahu is causing damage to American support by making strong connections with Republican leaders.
When Blinken and the Arab ministers got together, Gaza’s Health Ministry said that almost 32,000 Palestinians have died since the war started there. Furthermore, UN officials have increased their warnings that there could be a famine very soon in northern Gaza.
Blinken met with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in Cairo. They also met with a leader from the Palestine Liberation Organization, a group that represents the Palestinian people. They also talked about how to send help to Gaza quickly by land, air, and sea.
During a previous meeting, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi told Blinken that it’s important to stop fighting right away and cautioned against any Israeli attack in Rafah. This was reported by el-Sissi’s spokesperson.
Both groups said they still don’t want Gazans to be forced out of their homes and they agreed it’s important to do everything they can to make sure that food and supplies get into Gaza.
Blinken said the differences are getting smaller in talks about stopping the fighting, but we still have more work to do. “He said there are still difficult problems to solve. ” “We’ve fixed some problems, but there are still more to fix. ”
Netanyahu’s office announced that the leader of the Mossad spy agency will go back to Qatar on Friday. He will meet with CIA chief William Burns and other important people involved in the talks. On Thursday, the office announced that the prime minister of Qatar and the intelligence chief of Egypt will also participate in the discussions. At the same time, the United States wants a fast vote on a new UN resolution that asks for a quick and lasting stop to the fighting, to keep people safe and allow aid to be given. Robert Wood, the US deputy ambassador to the UN, said he wants to have a vote by the end of the week. The decision is important because it doesn’t insist on stopping the fighting to free the hostages.
Still, Blinken said the two must go together. “He said we need to stop fighting right now and let the hostages go. ”
Netanyahu has disagreed with the Biden administration’s repeated warnings that Israel needs an independent Palestinian state for long-term security.
A clear plan and deadline for creating a Palestinian state are important for Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries to be friends with Israel. This is something Netanyahu really wants to make happen. Blinken spent a lot of time in Jeddah with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman talking about making things more normal between the US and Saudi Arabia.
Biden and Netanyahu finally talked on the phone after not speaking for a month. They agreed that experts from Israel would go to Washington to talk about the Rafah plans. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is going to Washington next week for a visit.
The fighting started when Palestinian fighters killed about 1,200 people in a surprise attack in October. 7 attacks from Gaza started the war and kidnapped 250 people. It is believed that Hamas is still keeping about 100 people as hostages and the remains of 30 other people. -

Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and Blinken speak on “regional coordination” to end Gaza War
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman talked about working together to stop the war in Gaza and help the area recover after the fighting. This information was shared by a State Department spokesperson.
In a meeting that lasted over two hours in Riyadh, the leaders also talked about helping the people in Gaza and stopping the conflict from getting worse. They also discussed the need to reduce tensions in the region, including attacks by the Houthis in the Red Sea, according to spokesperson Matt Miller.
After his meetings in the area last month, Blinken said that US partners in the Middle East are prepared to help find a solution to stop the ongoing violence and make sure Israel is safe.
Blinken said that at the time, those partners made it clear that this should include “a way for Palestinians to have their own state. “ -

Blinken in Middle East for difficult conversations
The US is Israel‘s best friend, but today they will have difficult discussions.
For weeks, Washington has been asking Israel to stop their attack on Hamas in Gaza. The attack has killed many civilians and caused a lot of damage and a big problem for people’s well-being.
Israel’s military is trying to focus more on specific targets in its attacks, but many people have still been killed in its recent bombing of central and southern Gaza.
In answer to some ministers saying Palestinians should go somewhere else, Blinken will say that people from Gaza who had to leave should be able to go back to their homes.
However, there are reports that Israel may connect this to a new agreement to free its hostages who are being held by Hamas.
Blinken will also push for a clear plan for what should happen after the war in Gaza, and for more work to stop the war from spreading.
Yesterday, Israel reportedly killed a high-ranking commander of the Lebanese armed group, Hezbollah, in southern Lebanon, showing that the conflict is spreading. -

Ahead of his meeting with Israel’s President Isaac Herzog on Tuesday, Blinken said, “There are many important topics to discuss, especially finding a way to move forward. ”
Israel says it is using more focused attacks, but the health ministry in Gaza run by Hamas says 57 more people have died at just one hospital.
Israel started attacking Gaza after Hamas attacked them from across the border more than 3 months ago. About 1,200 people were killed in Israel during the attack.
Starting from 7th of October, over 22,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza, as reported by the health ministry run by Hamas.

Blinken set to visit ancient Saudi town
Antony Blinken has left Abu Dhabi and is going to meet Mohammed bin Salman in the Saudi Arabian city of Al-Ula.
The Saudi crown prince now lives in Al-Ula during the winter. Last week, he met with some US government officials, like Mark Warner and Lindsey Graham.
Al-Ula is an old city from more than 2,500 years ago. It is near a place with water and trees, and people used to stop there when they were traveling to trade spices and silk a long time ago. Similar to the famous city of Petra in Jordan, this place also has detailed carvings and fancy tombs. It’s considered a special site by Unesco.
Blinken and other US officials chose the location for visits on purpose.
Before, Muslims were not allowed to go to the town because it was considered cursed by Prophet Muhammad. But now, Prince Mohammed wants to make Al-Ula a place for art and tourism as part of his plan to modernize the Arab kingdom by 2030. He wants to have festivals, hotels, and attractions built by westerners. -

Gaza must remain open to Palestinians – Blinken
The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the Palestinians in Gaza should not be forced to leave and should be able to go back home when it is safe.
Mr Blinken criticized Israeli ministers who said Palestinians should move to another place.
The US government person visited Qatar during his recent trip to the Middle East.
He made these comments after hearing that as many as 70 people died at Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
Video from Jabalia showed dead bodies on the ground of a collapsed building, most of them were women and children.
A person from the Israel Defense Forces told the BBC that they attacked a military target and didn’t know how many people were hurt.
They said the army is working to stop Hamas’ violent attacks. The army is also trying to reduce harm to civilians and follow the law.
More than 60 people from Palestine were said to have also died in the last 24 hours in the southern city of Khan Younis.
Jabalia camp has been hit many times since Israel started fighting against Hamas after Hamas gunmen attacked southern Israel on 7 October.
Around 1,200 people were killed, mostly civilians, and about 240 others were taken hostage during the Hamas attacks.
More than 22,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza, as reported by the health ministry run by Hamas. At least 113 people have died in the past 24 hours from the Israeli bombing.
“Palestinian people should be able to go back to their homes when it’s safe,” Mr. Blinken said on Sunday. “They can’t, they shouldn’t be forced to leave Gaza. ”
Israel’s conservative Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich wants Palestinians to leave Gaza so that Israelis can move in and improve the area. He believes Israelis can make the desert fertile.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, a far-right politician, recently suggested that people from Gaza should move to another place as a way to solve the crisis there.
The Israeli government says that people from Gaza will be able to go back to their homes, but they haven’t said how or when it will happen.
Meanwhile, things in Gaza keep getting worse. Health experts are saying that hospitals are no longer safe.
Three global medical organizations said they are leaving the Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza because Israel has told them to evacuate.
A person from the United Nations who helps with emergencies said they are very worried about this situation.
Gemma Connell said the hospital was very crowded and overwhelmed, and now it doesn’t have the help it needs to deal with more and more sick people.
The boss of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the hospital had to make more than 600 patients and health workers leave.
“Mr Tedros said on X, which used to be called Twitter, that we don’t know where they are right now. ”
Mr Blinken went to the Middle East because things are getting more tense there. People are worried that the fighting in Gaza could get even worse and affect other areas nearby.
Saleh al-Arouri, who was a leader of the group Hamas, was killed in an attack in southern Beirut. Two other leaders and four other members of Hamas were also killed. It is believed that Israel may be responsible for the attack.
Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of a powerful group in Lebanon called Hezbollah, said that the killing of Arouri was a severe attack by Israel and that they will not get away with it.
Hezbollah shot rockets into Israel on Saturday because they were upset about Arouri being killed.
“This is a very tense time in the area. ” This is a problem that could get worse and cause more uncertainty and suffering, said Mr.
Qatar’s PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said that the killing of Arouri had made the situation more difficult.
Mr Blinken also said that it was very sad that journalist Hamza al-Dahdouh, the oldest son of Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau chief, was killed in a Israeli attack in southern Gaza.
He said that too many innocent Palestinian people have died in the war.
Mr Blinken went to Qatar after visiting Jordan, Turkey, and Greece. He went to Abu Dhabi on Sunday, and on Monday he is going to travel to Saudi Arabia. -

Abbas and Blinken talk to bring peace back to West Bank – US Department of State

Matthew Miller said that the Palestinians should not be forcefully moved from their homes.
Blinken and Abbas talked about how to bring peace and stability to the West Bank. They also discussed the importance of stopping violent actions against Palestinians and making sure those who are responsible are held accountable.
Miller said Blinken repeated that the US is dedicated to making sure that both Palestinians and Israelis are treated with respect and kept safe.
Blinken also said that the US is devoted to supporting the Palestinians in their goal of creating a Palestinian state. -

Israeli cease-fire in Gaza rejected by Blinken
Secretary of State Antony Blinken of the United States said that if Israel agrees to stop fighting in Gaza, it would give Hamas the opportunity to come together again and launch more attacks.
But he said that Israel needs to do everything it can to avoid hurting innocent people in the area.
Mr Blinken said these things on Saturday in Jordan after having discussions with Arab leaders, who are requesting the fighting to stop right away.
Israel has been accused of doing bad things during the war.
Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, said at a press conference with Mr. Blinken that they do not believe it was an act of self-defense. The conference also included representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
The US still stands by Israel’s ability to protect itself from Hamas.
Mr Safadi said that the conflict is like a very intense war that is causing harm to regular people, destroying their houses, hospitals, schools, mosques, and churches.
“This action cannot be justified for any reason, and it will not make Israel safe or bring peace to the area. ”
People are worried that the war could involve other nearby countries and make the Middle East less stable.
MrBlinken believes that temporary breaks in the fighting, instead of a total stoppage, are necessary to help people in need. He mentioned that although the US and Arab leaders may not agree on certain ways to bring lasting peace to the area, their ultimate objective is the same.
“He said that we all know that it is not only our desire, but also our duty to do everything we can together to find a better way for the future. ”
Israel started attacking Gaza after Hamas murdered over 1,400 individuals in Israel through unexpected assaults on October 7th. Over 200 people were taken by force and most of them are still believed to be held captive.
More than 9,488 people have died in Gaza, as reported by the health ministry controlled by Hamas.
MrBlinken’s visit to Jordan happened the day after he went to Israel to talk with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. Netanyahu said there would be no temporary break for help until all the Israeli people who were taken captive are freed.
The Israeli military has been attacking an area in the northern part of Gaza, after telling people many times to leave for their safety.
Around 400,000 regular people are still in the area, as said by David Satterfield, an important person from the US who cares about helping people in the Middle East.
The Israeli military has been attacking areas in the southern Gaza Strip, and the United Nations has stated that there is no safe place in Gaza.
MrBlinken mentioned that it’s important to greatly increase the amount of assistance that is being sent to the enclave through the Rafah crossing in Egypt.
Currently, only a small number of deliveries are going to Gaza after Israel blocked supplies of power, food, and water several weeks ago.
The US Secretary of State also met with Lebanon’s temporary Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, to talk about the fighting happening near Lebanon’s border with Israel. There has been a lot of fighting between a group called Hezbollah and the Israeli military.
Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, has not yet demanded more attacks on Israel but has indicated that there may be room for future actions.
MrBlinken is going to Turkey on Sunday for two days to talk with President Erdogan about the conflict.
The visit is happening because Ankara has brought back its ambassador from Israel and stopped talking to Mr. Netanyahu to show they are angry about the violence. -

Israel rejects Blinken’s request for a pause in Gaza
Israel has rejected the request from the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to temporarily stop the conflict in Gaza for humanitarian reasons.
Mr Blinken talked about the idea with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials when they met in Tel Aviv.
But in a TV statement a few minutes later, Mr. Netanyahu said that Israel refuses to accept a short-term pause in fighting that doesn’t include the freedom of our captured people.
He said that Israel was using all their strength to fight against Hamas.
The US government tried to help with diplomacy while Israeli military leaders said they surrounded Gaza City and were fighting in a complicated urban environment.
Video explanation, The text needs to be rewritten in simpler words.
Amani left her family in Gaza to go to school in the UK right before the war started. Now she is very worried as she keeps a close eye on something.
Israel started attacking after Hamas fighters killed 1,400 people in Israel and took more than 240 hostages. They used air force and ground forces in their attack.
Israel has attacked and caused the deaths of at least 9,200 people in Gaza, as reported by the health ministry run by Hamas.
During his trip to Tel Aviv, Mr Blinken expressed that the US will keep supporting Israel. He also asked Israel to take definite actions to ensure the safety of Palestinian civilians.
Mr Blinken said that today we discussed some important questions. These questions were about how to use a break in fighting to help more people in need, how to link the break to the freeing of hostages, and how to make sure that Hamas doesn’t take advantage of these breaks or agreements.
He observed that over 100 trucks with aid arrived in Gaza within the last day, even though they were not allowed before. However, he mentioned that this amount was still insufficient.
Mr Blinken visited the region for the second time in a month and mentioned that the US has been guiding Israel on reducing civilian casualties while also dealing with Hamas. And he said that they talked about practical steps to send more help, like fuel, to reach Gaza.
However, Mr Netanyahu strongly stated that he would not permit any fuel to enter the Gaza Strip. He has also refused any discussion about stopping the fighting.
The Israeli Prime Minister said that Israel will not agree to a temporary pause in fighting unless our hostages are released.
The US secretary of state said that Israel can only become more secure by forming a Palestinian state.
He said that the US has always believed in having two separate states for two different groups of people. Once again, this is the only way to guarantee long-term safety for Israel as a Jewish and democratic country.
During a press conference with the Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Mr. Blinken said that Israel has the responsibility to protect itself and make sure that the events of 7 October don’t occur again.
Mr Herzog mentioned that Israel is making big efforts to let people in Gaza know about airstrikes. He showed a pamphlet that is being dropped there, advising civilians to leave the northern area affected by the war.
While the two men were talking, some people outside were shouting through a loudspeaker on a street nearby. These people were the families of Israelis who had been kidnapped.
Media caption means providing a brief description or explanation that accompanies a media file, such as a video or image.
Mr Herzog expressed sympathy for them, while Mr. Blinken mentioned that the US is constantly thinking about our hostages.
“We have a lot of people, including Israelis, Americans, and others, and we are committed to doing everything possible to bring them back safely to reunite with their families and loved ones,” he said.
White House officials talked to reporters on a conference call and said that Hamas was not allowing people from other countries to leave Gaza.
One of the officials said that it would take a long break in the Israeli offensive to have any chance of freeing the hostages.
Showing the political pressure that Mr. Biden is experiencing from the left-wing of his party, one Democratic representative criticized him harshly on Friday.
Rashida Tlaib, a congresswoman from Michigan, accused the president of not doing enough to stop the killing of Palestinian people and called it genocide. She is the only US lawmaker who has Palestinian heritage.
She said, “If you don’t support a ceasefire now, don’t expect us to support you in the 2024 election. ”
The person in charge of the United States’ foreign affairs is currently in Jordan. Jordan recently called back its ambassador from Israel.
This Saturday, the highest-ranking American diplomat will have a meeting with Arab leaders. These leaders have been speaking out more and more against Israel’s actions in Gaza. -

Further action required to safeguard Palestinian citizens – Blinken
In other places, we are listening to Antony Blinken, the top diplomat of the United States, who is speaking in Tel Aviv.
Blinken said that he came back to Israel to work closely with other countries and do everything possible to prevent another attack like the one by Hamas on October 7th from happening again.
He says we need to do some important things to make this happen, like stopping the conflict from getting worse and spreading to other places nearby.
Also, he believes that there should be additional efforts to keep Palestinian people safe, and the way Israel goes about fighting against Hamas is important.
Blinken believes that innocent people should not be punished for the violence caused by Hamas.
He says that we need to send more help to Gaza regularly. -

Israeli leaders have proposed humanitarian pauses – Blinken
Blinken also mentioned that “humanitarian pauses” during the conflict are very important for keeping civilians safe. This topic has been discussed with Israeli leaders and is considered crucial.
He says the US thinks that taking breaks will help more help reach Gaza.
“He says we see it as a way to create a better environment for releasing hostages. ”
But he says the specific details of how the breaks would work are still being figured out.
Blinken says that Israeli officials had some valid concerns about the pauses. They wanted to know how to use them best to give aid, release hostages, and make sure Hamas doesn’t take advantage of them. -

Blinken travels to Israel to demonstrate US support
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has come to Israel to show his support after the recent violent attacks by Hamas.
