Police lock courtroom to prevent attack from late Maadwoa’s relatives

The Asokore Mampong District Court in the Ashanti Region witnessed heightened tensions on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, as police personnel took the necessary step of locking the courtroom to prevent the entry of late Maadwoa’s family members.

The deceased is suspected to have been shot and killed by her police boyfriend, Inspector Twumasi.

According to GhanaWeb’s Ashanti Regional Correspondence, the police prevented all family members, including Maadwoa’s biological parents, from entering the courtroom immediately after suspect, Inspector Twumasi, arrived.

The decision to lock the courtroom and keep the family members outside according to him was made without any reason given.

It was revealed that the agitated family members had attempted to physically assault the suspect forcing the police officers to take the said action by locking the courtroom.

Their intense emotions compelled security operatives to lock the court as a precautionary measure.

It was also suspected that some family members of the deceased might be armed, prompting the officers to conduct a thorough search at the court premises.

26-year-old Victoria Dapaah also known as Maadwoa was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi on 20th April 2023 at Adum, a few meters away from her house.

During the first court hearing, the suspect confessed to committing the act but insisted that it was not his intention to kill “his lover.”

Meanwhile, the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by His Worship Samuel Buabeng Quansah has remanded Inspector Twumasi into prison custody.

The suspect who is currently being transferred from police to prison custody will be in remand and is expected to reappear before the court on 20th June 2023.

His Worship gave the judgement after ACP Kofi Blagodzi, Head of Legal and Prosecution at the Ashanti regional police command had read that the Attorney General’s advice which approved the prosecution of the suspect for murder.

According to the prosecutor, the attorney general’s advice has given the green light for the prosecution of the police officer as a suspected murderer, and others.

He subsequently pleaded with the court that despite the greenlight, prosecution may need a few days to ready its full dockets so that the case can be transferred to the high court.

His Worship Samuel Buabeng Quansah, however, ordered for the suspect to be remanded into prison custody.

  • “My daughter told me she wanted to die so I gave her permission to end it” – Mother reveals

“My daughter told me she wanted to die so I gave her permission to end it” – Mother reveals

Note: This essay includes discussions of self-harm and suicidal ideation.

My daughter, who is now a 28-year-old therapist leading a happy and productive life, almost didn’t make it to adulthood due to mental illness.

Faith was 9 years old the first time she threatened to hurt herself with a knife. It was the spring of 2004 and my husband and I were watching “The Sopranos” when Faith came downstairs after bedtime, grabbed a paring knife from the kitchen counter and stood between the paused TV and us. Tony Soprano was frozen on the screen behind her, a forkful of pasta halfway to his mouth. He looked as dumbfounded as I felt.

“I’m a terrible person,” Faith said as she squeezed the handle of the knife.

    My whole body tensed.

Her teacher had called that afternoon to tell me that Faith and her friends played a mean trick on the new girl in their third grade class.

“You’re not a terrible person,” I said. “You did something that wasn’t kind or respectful, and it’s normal to feel bad about that. But you’re not a terrible person.”

She scratched the point of the blade across her palm ― not hard enough to do anything, but still.

“Faithy, why don’t you put down that knife,” my husband said.

    “I like it,” she said.

“Give me the knife.” I held out my hand but did not get off the sofa. Faith was small, but strong and unpredictable.

She looked at me with eyes that were both fierce and desperate. She didn’t move. She was just a little girl. She wore tie-dyed pajamas with chicks on them. Her long brown hair was damp from the shower. Her chest rose up and down as she breathed, and I found myself matching her, breath for breath.’

“Faithy,” I said, softening my tone. “Do you want to maybe see a therapist?”

Her shoulders relaxed and she nodded. She took three steps toward us, handed me the knife, and fell into our arms.

Over the next eight years ― hampered by questions like “Is this just a phase?” “Are we helicoptering?” and “Can we afford this?” ― we took Faith to social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. She tried medications that didn’t help. She spent five days in an adolescent behavior wing of our local hospital, where she became aware of the problems caused by her aggressive communication. She attended a wilderness therapy program in Hawaii for two months and learned to nurture herself like her seedlings in the nursery there. She went to a therapeutic boarding school in Montana for three weeks. That place was such a disaster, the only thing Faith learned was that if she shouted loudly and clearly enough, we would always come to her rescue.

All along, even while Faith was sending out nude photos of her teenage body, harming herself to dull her emotional pain and fighting the urge to die, she excelled at school, sports and friendships. Her smile lit the room. Her enthusiasm and energy were contagious. She charmed every kid, adult and animal she met.

My husband and I were confused, stressed, often overwhelmed. We knew that the very traits that were making childhood and adolescence so difficult for our daughter — her intensity, sensitivity and passion — would someday make her an extraordinary adult. There’d be no stopping Faith… if we could get her to adulthood alive.

“Use your powers for good,” we told Faith again and again.

One day in 2012, when Faith was 17, she squeezed in next to me on the sofa in our living room. I was reading a book, our dog nestled at my feet. My daughter looked more depleted than ever. She’d recently been kicked out of her elite boarding school, considered too promiscuous and emotionally fragile to be part of their community. She was back at our local public school with kids who didn’t understand her and a softball team that didn’t want her. She’d blown the last semester, getting all D’s and a sympathy A from her math teacher.

The reality of her situation had set in, and she was depressed in a way I hadn’t seen before. There was no mania or anger fueling her depression, just a weary hopelessness, a soul-sucking resignation.

“Things will get better,” I said.

“No. Don’t say that. They won’t.”

For years, I’d been telling Faith this, reminding her she was strong and resilient. For years, I’d listened and comforted and sometimes yelled and screamed. All along, I had tried to shape my daughter into the person I thought she could be. The person I wanted her to be. The person I wished she could be. That person was not “mentally ill,” but rather a tough teen who would grow out of her issues with the right help. And yet, here we were. Clearly, my optimism and hope for my child, combined with the stigma and fear of mental illness, had kept me from accepting the truth for far too long.

Faith stroked our pup’s silky fur. She kept her head down and said, “You’re going to be OK, though. When I die. You’ll get over it.”

    I took a breath. “Faith. I won’t.”

“Mom. Kids die all the time. If I had cancer and died, you’d get over it. You’d move on.”

“No. You don’t understand. I’d never get over it. And besides, you don’t have cancer. If you had cancer, I’d try every single thing to cure you. Western medicine. Eastern medicine. Everything in between.”

She met my eyes. “But then, if you tried it all and I was still sick, you’d let me die, right?”

She was right, I would. But this wasn’t cancer. Or was it? What was the difference, really? This depression was killing her, surely as a malignant tumor.

I thought back to one afternoon when Faith was six weeks old, and I was putting her down for a nap. She was crying uncontrollably, and I was a sleep-deprived new mom. Faith wasn’t wet or hungry, hot or cold. She was simply inconsolable. I stood there, rocking her in my arms, back and forth, back and forth, willing her to stop crying and go to sleep. Please, I prayed, I needed this nap.

She didn’t let up. My movements became bigger and stronger, swinging her really. And then, all of a sudden, I thought about whipping her to the floor. If I threw Faith to the ground, the crying would stop, right?

    Right.

I didn’t throw her to the ground. Instead, I held her tighter as I fell into the rocking chair and sobbed. She snuggled into me, and the two of us cried together, connected in our misery.

That traumatic moment still haunted me. I was terrified by the power I had to hurt my child, frightened by how her strong emotions could provoke such desperation in me. But perhaps I was missing the point. I hadn’t hurt Faith when she was an infant. In fact, I’d done exactly what she needed: I cried with her. She had these big emotions that might not have made sense, but I was there with her. I held her until they passed. And I kept holding her.

I looked at my daughter snuggled next to me on the sofa, devoid of expression, beaten down to a shadow of herself. Maybe, all the years of trying to shape Faith into a person who didn’t struggle under the grip of mental illness had been a mistake. Maybe, telling a person that things will get better is not always what they need to hear. Maybe, what I should have been doing was what I’d done when Faith was six weeks old: be there with her in her pain.

Fear had prevented me from doing that ― fear of losing Faith to madness, to suicide. But I finally understood my fear was not stopping that from happening. All it did was keep me from empathizing when my daughter desperately needed it. I had to find courage. I had to validate what Faith was experiencing, even if that meant embracing the possibility of losing her.

    So I did.

I said, “OK, I hear you. If we try everything else, and you still feel this bad, you can end your life.”

Faith took a deep breath. With those words, she was no longer alone. I had metaphorically fallen into the rocking chair and cried with her. She knew I would hold her for as long as it took.

I don’t normally tell people about that conversation, because it’s so easily misunderstood. It sounds horrific ― something a mother should never and would never say. I would have done anything to save Faith’s life. I didn’t want her to die by suicide. And yet, those are the words that tumbled out of my mouth.

One of my close friends told me it wasn’t horrific at all ― it was a radical act of love. That’s how I like to think about it. Because what those words conveyed to Faith was that I understood the depth of her pain. That what she was feeling was real. That I was right there, by her side. That we would try everything under the sun to help her.

Suicide is horrifying. We don’t know how to talk about it, so we often shy away from the topic altogether. Or we tell our loved one not to think that way. What does that do, other than invalidate them in their loneliest, most hopeless moment? The truth is, withholding my permission would not have stopped Faith from dying by suicide if that’s what she were determined to do. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, someone dies by suicide every 11 minutes. I have to believe most of those people had loved ones who were urging them to hold on a bit longer, telling them things would get better.

If I could redo that conversation with Faith when she was 17, I’d say: I hear you. You’ve been in pain for years, and you deserve relief. I’m grateful for your courage to let me know what you’re feeling. I’m in awe of your resilience, and I see how exhausted you are, even though you’re so strong. I’d ask her if she had a plan. I’d ask her if she had what she needed to carry out the plan. I’d ask her if she had a time frame for when it would happen. I’d ask every scary question in a calm, nonjudgmental way, and I’d keep on listening and validating and loving.

We like to think we have control over how our kids turn out. But our kids are who they are. We can model our values for them. But the job of parenting isn’t to shape our kids into the happy and competent adults we want them to be. It’s to discover who they are. To love and accept them fully, even if that means accepting their mental illness ― not as a phase, but as another aspect of their life. By discovering, accepting and loving, we give our kids the ability to shape themselves into happy and competent adults.

What happened after this conversation in 2012? My daughter felt heard and understood. She tried Western medicine. Eastern medicine. Everything in between. Energy healing and a new medication did the trick. Something shifted. Faith found a way to go on. She’s 28 now and she manages her mental health every day. She has her master’s degree in social work, and she works as a therapist. Things did get better for Faith ― not because I said they would, but because Faith made it so. And let me be clear, she still has a mental illness. But for now, it’s under control.

As for me, I became a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line. I give strangers all over the world the empathy and validation they need to get through their darkest moments. My daughter taught me how.

Amhara ruling party official in Ethiopia shot dead

Authorities in Ethiopia have indicated that the head of the Prosperity Party, which is in power in the country’s Amhara region, and members of his security detail have been shot and killed.

According to a statement released by the communications office of the region, Girma Yeshitla was ambushed approximately 250km (155 miles) north of Addis Ababa while he was on his way back from an official trip, the BBC reported.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed called the killing “shameful and horrible” and blamed it on unnamed “violent extremists” who he said chose to settle differences through guns rather than dialogue.

Several weeks following the announcement by the federal government regarding the dissolution of a paramilitary force, which had incited widespread protests and violence in Amhara, the killing occurred.

Mr Girma faced strong criticism from opponents of the force’s dissolution, who saw him as one of the faces behind the move.

The killing of senior politicians is not new in Amhara. In 2019, the regional leader and other top officials were killed in what was described as a failed regional coup attempt.

  • The ‘spiritual’ things Kwame Nkrumah did at night along beaches

A former bodyguard of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has recalled the days when he would accompany his boss to the beach in the dead of the night.

During those outings, Christian Blukoo said the former president would engage in some spiritual acts.

Always preoccupied with how to keep the president safe, the former bodyguard explained that he and other reliable guards at the Christiansborg Castle (Osu Castle) – the seat of government at the time- would be dutied to follow him.

“After I was successful, I was sent to Castle and then they confirmed me as a bodyguard to Nkrumah, and then they put me in protection because Nkrumah at times went out at night. When he was going, those who were smart at the Castle had to follow him because bodyguards will not be in the house at night,” he said.

Christian Blukoo explained further in an interview with JoyNews that although he could never speak about these things in the past due to the oath of secrecy, he feels safer now to talk about them. He described how on some of those days, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah would spend time on the beach behind the Independence Square, praying and engaging in other spiritual activities.

“They used it call it secrecy but now, I’m free to speak. At times, he used to go to the seaside at the Black Star Square to consult the spiritual (sic) and like we do here by praying, he also used to do that: he’ll go to the seaside and pray. There were certain other things that he would do,” he narrated.

The former bodyguard of the president also shared some deep details of some of the security operations he and others undertook for Kwame Nkrumah.

  • Man, 27, dies after inhaling ammonia on fishing vessel

A routine cleaning of a storage well within MV Africa Star, a fishing vessel belonging to the Africa Star Fisheries Limited, has allegedly led to the death of a 27-year-old man, Elvis Otoo, at the Tema Fishing Harbour.

The deceased, an employee of Jamens Limited, a vessel cleaning company, died when a supposed damaged pipe containing ammonia, a refrigerant for the tuna vessel, exploded and trapped him and a colleague, Enoch Teye, 32, in the process.
Otoo was said to have had high exposure to the substance which he inhaled. He also had cuts on the body.
According to an eyewitness, attempts by his colleagues to rescue him were unsuccessful.
Teye, who managed to escape, sustained injuries and was rushed to the Narh-Bita Hospital in Tema where he is said to be receiving treatment while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the International Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
    Incident
The Head of the Marine Police Unit at the Tema Port, Supt Joseph Antwi-Ababio, told the Daily Graphic yesterday that the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at about 12:30 p.m.
The vessel, he said, had returned from a voyage on Sunday, July 26, 2020 and began the processes to offload the tuna from the hatches (holding compartments) the following day.
He said Otoo and Teye were tasked to commence the cleaning works in the hatch which had all of its tuna contents emptied, while other workers of African Star offloaded the rest of the tuna from other hatches of the vessel.
Supt. Antwi-Ababio explained that the cleaning of the vessel was to enable it to go on another voyage when the entire contents were fully emptied.
He said during the cleaning the gas leaked into the environment, creating an uncomfortable working environment within the fishing harbour.
“According to an eyewitness account, Otoo could not escape the scene as the substance, apart from causing eye sensation, also came with a pungent smell”,  Supt Antwi-Ababio stated.
    Evidence Tampering
While some workers of the company had alleged that the Chinese owners of the vessel attempted to tamper with evidence of the damaged pipes, the Commander said a technical team from the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) who visited the scene of the incident had tasked the owners to check whether there were any further leakages of the ammonia into other areas of the vessel.
“A proposal was also made for them to attempt to evacuate the ammonia from the other areas to its original holding base to prevent further leakage into the fishing harbour environment,” he said.
Supt Antwi-Ababio stated that the police had no evidence to the claims by the eyewitnesses since it was only the GMA officials who had the technical expertise to determine whether the vessel owners attempted to carry out any repair works on the damaged pipes.
The Deputy Director in charge of Ship Inspections and Maritime Security at the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Captain Emmanuel Kofi Ankamah, who also confirmed the incident, said investigations were ongoing and that the Authority could only comment when they were able to establish the cause of the accident.

  • Ghanaian family in Toronto demand answers for the death of their son by the police

In the quiet darkness of an early morning last November, Clive Mensah stepped outside his Toronto-area home for the last time.

Before long, police cruisers descended on the area. Officers rushed into Mensah’s backyard, taking him down with a stun gun.

About an hour later, the 30-year-old was dead.

What happened between the moment Mensah left his home and the moment he died is unclear.

For the last eight months, Stephen Boakye has been privately reliving the nightmare of his nephew’s final moments.

He and his family have watched with a knowing horror as the stories of Black and Indigenous people and people of colour killed in encounters with police in Canada and the U.S. have made headlines.

“What happened in America, George Floyd… Look at that, it’s the same thing. It’s like Clive’s memory came back and I was experiencing it,” Boakye said.

All the while, his nephew’s story has remained untold — until now.

Mensah’s uncles Stephen Boakye, left, and William Owusu, right, were the only family members he had in Canada. (Jonathan Castell/CBC)

On a recent sunny afternoon, just steps away from what was Mensah’s home, Boakye broke his silence, along with another of Mensah’s uncles, William Owusu — the only family members Mensah had in Canada.

Since Mensah’s death on Nov. 20, 2019, his uncles say they’ve heard almost nothing from investigators, and are desperate for answers about why their nephew, a young, unarmed Black man with a history of mental illness, was fatally Tasered in his own backyard — and why no one, to date, has been held accountable.

    Desperate for answers

Born in Scarborough in 1989, Mensah spent much of his childhood in Ghana. Described by his family as a gentle giant, he took his Christianity seriously and loved basketball as well as music.

At 18, he returned to Canada with his mother. Soon after, she moved back to the West African country. Mensah ended up living alone, but by all accounts he was faring well.

Tragedy would soon follow. In 2015, Mensah’s father died in Ghana. The following year, his mother died, too.

“That had an effect on him,” said Owusu.

It was around that time that Mensah’s family believes his life began to unravel. In September 2015, he was charged in a robbery and pleaded guilty to theft and assault.

Mensah’s parents, pictured here, died in fairly quick succession in 2015 and 2016. His family believes it is around this time that his life took a turn for the worse. (Jonathan Castell/CBC)

A medical report from the same year indicates Mensah’s mental state began deteriorating in mid-2014. He was taken to the hospital several times under the Mental Health Act, often unable to remember his own name and was “frequently observed speaking loudly to himself.”

The psychiatrist’s conclusion: Mensah was suffering from an “unspecified psychotic disorder,” possibly schizophrenia.

But on the surface, there were few signs of trouble. Mensah had found work, through part-time jobs at grocery stores. Most recently, he was driving a forklift at a warehouse.

“We knew nothing about his being ill mentally until I think he was taken to hospital for diagnosis, and then we found out. But when he was taking his medication, he was doing marvellously well,” Owusu said.

    Police called for noise complaint

Whether Mensah was suffering a mental health episode on the night of his death is unclear.

Here’s what is known: Peel Regional Police were called to Runningbrook Drive in Mississauga around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 20 for reports of a “suspicious male causing a disturbance.”

One resident told CBC News at the time that shortly before police arrived, there was a commotion and yelling coming from a nearby parkette.

About an hour later, another resident called police after seeing “a fellow running up and down the street, screaming and hollering.”

“I thought he was going to break in,” resident Jim Tingley told CBC News at the time.

Mensah’s family believes he was jogging the night of his death, singing to himself as he loved to do. But whether it was Mensah who Tingley saw is unclear.

Ontario’s police watchdog said officers found a man in a backyard in the area and “a struggle ensued.”

“Several use-of-force options were used, including the deployment of a conducted energy weapon,” said Special Investigations Unit spokesperson Monica Hudon.

Mensah was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 4 a.m.

    Tasered 6 times, paramedics delayed

Boakye was asleep at his home in Etobicoke when he was awoken by a phone call from the hospital, telling him to come quickly.

When he arrived, he says, a nurse and doctor took him to a room where Mensah was attached to tubes.

“It was then that they told me he’s dead,” Boakye said.

Hospital records from that night indicate Mensah was “Tased approximately six times” and was found by paramedics lying on the ground, handcuffed.

The report also notes a “delay” in reaching Mensah, adding “police cruisers blocked roadway to scene,” with paramedics having to park some 15 to 18 metres away.

As Mensah lay dead on the stretcher in front of him, Boakye recalls a nurse telling him, “Your nephew was a big guy.”

“In my mind I was asking myself, ‘Is it because he’s a big guy you have to Tase him just like that?’” Boakye said.

Since that night, just one of the three officers involved in Mensah’s death has spoken with investigators, the SIU has told CBC News. The other two have so far refused.

Under Ontario’s Police Services Act, “subject officers cannot be legally compelled to present themselves for an interview with the SIU and they do not have to submit their notes,” said Hudon.

Growing anger over racism in policing

For now, the investigation into Mensah’s death continues, with the SIU awaiting his post-mortem and toxicology reports.

    Meanwhile, questions plague his family.

“Had it been that he was a white boy, singing on the road, jogging, would they kill him? Would they Tase him?” asked Owusu, who believes racism directly contributed to his nephew’s death.

Owusu has joined a growing chorus of voices demanding answers for what they say is a disturbing pattern of deaths at the hands of Peel Regional Police involving people of colour.

Asked about the possibility that racism played a role in Mensah’s death or about racism in the force more generally, Peel Police spokesperson Heather Cannon said in a statement the investigation is ongoing, and once complete will undergo an “administrative review.”

“We expect every one of our officers to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times,” she said, adding members of the public with complaints about police interactions can submit them to the Office of the Independent Police Review Director.

If no charges are laid against any of the officers involved, Toronto lawyer Emily Lam intends to call on the coroner to consider systemic racism as a factor in Mensah’s death, a move she believes is “very rare.”

“Our client would like to understand the factors that resulted in their nephew Mr. Mensah’s death,” said Lam, who is representing the family.

“I think it’s also important for the public to understand the shortcomings of a system and the factors that may have contributed to the deaths of other civilians… And to hopefully prevent these tragedies from happening again.”

Calls for coroner to consider racism in death

In a statement to CBC News, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario said a coroner “can only determine the cause and manner of death from a medical standpoint.”

If, however, through interviews the coroner believes racism played a role in a death, that information would be provided to police. Racism has previously been included in the scope of coroners’ inquests, which can produce non-binding recommendations meant to prevent further deaths.

But the coroner’s office conceded “it is impossible to say when, how often, how long” coroners have been reporting on race or racism.

Toronto lawyer Asha James believes that in the current context, an inquest probing prejudice in policing would be particularly valuable, especially given how often police have to deal with people experiencing a mental-health crisis.

“Systemic racism in policing in our society, and how that affects officers’ perceptions and beliefs about individuals that they’re interacting with, is definitely important in understanding things such as the ability to de-escalate situations,” James said. “Hopefully it’s something that we can lead police services to try to start to change.”

Standing in front of the home where his nephew took his last breath, Boakye’s mind travels back to the moment he came to collect Mensah’s belongings.

“I feel very sad that he left us,” he said. “I hope we receive justice for what has happened to my nephew.”

“They have no right whatsoever to take his life,” added Owusu. “You are there to serve  and protect. Not to serve and to kill.”

  • Missing accident body: Police is in charge and not our morgue – Dormaa Presby Hospital

General Manager of Dormaa Presby Hospital, Rev. Dr. Isaac Appiah, has denied reports that his outfit is to be blamed for a missing corpse at the hospital’s mortuary.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, Rainbowradioonline.com, reported that a family at Dormaa Ahenkro was after the Dormaa mortuary over the disappearance of their deceased relative.

The body, together with one other, were deposited at the morgue by the Dormaa Police after a car accident. However, days after the bodies were deposited in the hospital, the family of one of the deceased claimed the body released to them was not that of their late relative, Wofa Atta.

Speaking to GhanaWeb about the issue, Rev Appiah explained that the case is between two families and the Police as the intermediary.

He explained, his outfit was only mandated to allow family members have access to the bodies for identification with escorts from the Police.

He added that the hospital only had the mandate to release the dead bodies to the families after both families have fully identified their relatives

“The two bodies were brought to the hospital on Sunday (May 24, 2020). Because Monday was a holiday, one of the families came to the morgue on Tuesday(May 26) to identify their body with police officers.

Two members from the family of Wofa Atta also came later to view the remaining body and they confirmed that was their body. And for that matter, the morgue people also registered them, gave that body the mortuary tag…”

He said the mishap happened because representatives of the two families failed to identify their own body when they reported to the morgue for viewing and identification.

“So last week Friday morning, the first family came back for their body after inspection…Then yesterday, they were coming for the body, when the body was removed for them, the other family members said it wasn’t theirs. But meanwhile, it is the body that Friday, they came to identify. The records are there. So what happened is that those who came to identify their body couldn’t identify their own body. And those who came earlier was may be given a body which does not belong to them. But for us as a hospital, we don’t even come into the case. Because they are dealing with the Police.”

He reiterated that the case was handed over to the Police to settle since they brought the accident bodies to the morgue.

“When they came yesterday, we called the Police and handed everything to the Police. Because we made them understand that it is between them and the Police and not us. Because the body was brought by the Police, so we advised them to go the Police… So that if anything at all, the Police can issue directive so that some of the Police officers can go to where they buried the first body to cross-check.”, he told GhanaWeb in the exclusive interview.

Meanwhile, the Police have met the two families to resolve the issue.
