A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Dr. Ezekiel Agyekum-Obeng, has stated that the ruling party is experiencing significant “mental distress.”

Dr. Agyekum-Obeng highlighted that recent events within the NPP, including the untimely deaths of Ken City Media’s Wofa Kwabena Kwakye and former Ejisu MP Hon John Kumah, have placed the party in a situation where its members may require mental health support.

Who gives bribes in such a manner ? – Former NPP MP on alleged bribery at Ejisu elections

Former MP for Ayensuano, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, offered his insights on the bribery accusations levelled against the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso during the recent Ejisu by-election.

On the May 5, 2024, episode of The Big Issue on Citi TV, Mr. Ayeh-Paye discussed the justifications presented by the current MP for his conduct.

He expressed surprise at the criticism directed at the MP, contending that the alleged bribery does not reflect logical behaviour.

“You don’t have to give lunch to the electoral officers on duty. My struggle is that nobody gives a bribe in that manner, openly like that.

I don’t think anybody in his rightful sense will do that,” Mr. Ayeh-Paye stated, casting doubt on the likelihood that a sane individual would engage in such overt acts of bribery.

The incident under scrutiny involves a video circulating online depicting the MP placing an envelope on a table in front of two Electoral Commission officers during the by-election.

This action has sparked widespread interpretation as an alleged attempt to bribe the officers, a claim vehemently denied by the MP.

He insists that the gesture was merely a friendly offer of lunch.

As the controversy escalated, the police initiated an investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident.

In response, the MP has issued an apology for any misunderstanding his actions may have caused and has committed to fully cooperating with the investigative process.

Has OSP arrested the Kwadaso MP?

Kwadaso’s Member of Parliament, Prof Kingsley Nyarko, reportedly faces arrest following allegations of corruption during the Ejisu by-election on April 30, 2024.

According to UTV’s post, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken action in response to a video capturing the suspected corruption.

The Electoral Commission referred the case to the OSP, prompting investigations.

Reports from myjoyonline.com indicate that OSP investigators have questioned several involved parties, including Prof Kingsley Nyarko, regarding the corruption allegations.

The MP was filmed placing a white envelope on a table where two EC officials were present during the by-election. Prof Nyarko defended his actions, claiming the envelope contained lunch money for the officials.

However, the EC initiated investigations and removed the implicated officials from their posts.

The Commission urged for criminal investigations into the conduct of the officials.

In response, Prof Kingsley Nyarko maintained that his actions were well-intentioned and not intended to influence the officials.

Additionally, Election Watch Ghana petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate the MP’s actions further.

OSP probes alleged bribery of EC staff by Kwadaso MP

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption related to the recent Ejisu by-election, focusing on the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, and some Election Commission (EC) temporary staff.

Reports from sources close to the investigation indicate that the OSP has arrested and interrogated several individuals connected to the case.

The probe centers on an incident captured by Adom News cameras, where Professor Kingsley Nyarko was seen handing an envelope to two EC officials at the Church of Pentecost Polling Station in Fumesua during the by-election.

Following the incident, the EC suspended the two officials, Ballot Issuer and Presiding Officer Regina Serwaa and George Sasu, pending criminal investigations into their conduct.

Despite Professor Nyarko’s assertion that the money was given in good faith and not intended as a bribe or to influence the officials, there have been calls for his prosecution. Election Watch Ghana, a civil society organization, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate Dr. Kingsley Nyarko.

However, governance expert Prof. Baffour Agyeman Duah has dismissed these calls for prosecution, suggesting that there may have been no criminal intent behind Professor Nyarko’s actions.

“Frankly, this is much I do about nothing because the response we are getting already tells you where this is going to go.

“Unless the Electoral Commission has direct rules against politicians and others giving lunch to people, I don’t know what they can do about this,” he explained.

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has denied a letter alleging that the NDC financially supported an independent candidate in the April 30 by-election in Ejisu.

A document shared by former Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho, suggested that Mr. Aduomi was in alliance with the NDC hours before the opening of polls.

“It is fake. We saw it yesterday (April 29), and I can assure you nothing like that has occurred,” Mr Kwetey stated in an interview with GhanaFact.

Before the election, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused Kwame Owusu Aduomi of being affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and receiving support from the party.

In response, Kwame Owusu Aduomi denied the allegation, suggesting that if the NDC supports him, it is likely due to his successful initiatives during his time as a legislator.

Samuel Koku Anyidoho criticized the party for supposedly adopting an incorrect strategy to undermine the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances in the election.

The list of items he allegedly demanded, per the document, is as follows.

    • 5 branded pick-ups for the campaign }
    • 50.000 A3 size posters

A civil society organization, Election Watch Ghana, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, for alleged electoral misconduct.

The petition follows a viral video from the Ejisu by-election on April 30, which showed Dr. Nyarko handing a white envelope to two temporary officials of the Electoral Commission.

Although the Electoral Commission promptly removed the officials featured in the video, Election Watch Ghana is urging the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to arrest the MP.

The group stated that prosecuting the MP is crucial for restoring public confidence in Ghana’s democratic institutions and upholding the rule of law.

“We strongly condemn this brazen act of corruption, which undermines the integrity of our already dying democracy. We request that your office take immediate action to investigate and prosecute the MP for Kwadaso, Kingsley Nyarko for his involvement in this electoral malpractice.

“We believe that swift action is necessary to maintain public trust in our democratic institutions and to uphold the rule of law. We will be monitoring this case closely and expect a prompt response regarding the actions your office will take to address this matter,” the statement added.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that the individual shown in a viral video stuffing ballot papers into a ballot box is neither its staff nor was the incident related to the Ejisu by-election.

In a statement dated Thursday, May 2, 2024, the EC stated that the video “is unrelated to the operations of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, let alone the Ejisu by-election.”

The Commission pointed out discrepancies in the video, noting that the individual in question was wearing a green vest, while EC staff typically wear blue vests.

Additionally, another person in the video was seen wearing an orange vest, further indicating that the incident was not related to EC operations.

The EC also highlighted that its polling stations are usually located in open spaces, whereas the polling station in the video appeared to be in an enclosed area.

Moreover, the statement emphasized that each polling station in Ejisu was manned by at least six police officers, in addition to candidate agents, a situation not reflected in the video.

Various factors influence why voters support specific political parties or candidates during elections.

In the recently concluded Ejisu by-election, a voter expressed her unwavering support for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), regardless of the candidate presented by the party.

In a video circulating on social media, an unnamed woman emphasized her loyalty to the NPP, stating that she would vote for the party even if they presented an inanimate object instead of a human candidate.

“Even if you bring a stone as the NPP candidate, if it is NPP, I will vote for it. Lawyer go, lawyer come. If a stone is presented 100 times, I will vote for it,” she asserted to a journalist.

Her mention of ‘lawyer go, lawyer come’ refers to the victory of lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the NPP candidate, in the Ejisu by-election.

Boateng is slated to replace the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah, who was also a lawyer.

Following the April 30 vote, Boateng secured 55.8% of valid votes cast, while his closest rival, former Ejisu MP Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, garnered over 43%.

The Electoral Commission’s Director of Electoral Services, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, has announced that the Commission has initiated an investigation into allegations of bribery involving two officials during Tuesday’s by-election in Ejisu.

Following the emergence of a video showing Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, a prominent New Patriotic Party Member and MP for Kwadaso, allegedly handing over a white envelope suspected to contain cash to electoral officials, two officials of the electoral body have been withdrawn pending investigation.

Dr. Quaicoe emphasized that the outcome of the investigation will dictate the Electoral Commission’s subsequent actions.

Speaking to JoyNews’ Ohemeng Tawiah after the withdrawal of the two temporary officers from the Ejisu Constituency by-election, he stated that the contents of the envelope given to the officials are yet to be confirmed.

Dr. Quaicoe urged restraint in judgment until the investigation is completed, highlighting the uncertainty regarding who ultimately accepted the parcel.

“For now, we shouldn’t crucify them till we do the investigation and get to the root of it because clearly if you watched (the video), the parcel was being given to them and the people were not ready to take it.

“So it was dropped on the table, but when it was dropped, who took it? We don’t know”, he added.

“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place.

“The commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth, and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff.

Accusations of betrayal and suggestions of defection to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) were leveled against Aduomi by some NPP members. However, Aduomi refuted these claims, asserting his continued support from NDC backers.

In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Ntim expressed concern over the intra-party competition between two candidates from the same party.

“Yes, it is worrying because the two main competitors, Aduomi and Kwabena Boateng belong to the same fold, family. We should not be looking at jubilating, I’m not jubilating. My focus now is on how to bring the Aduomi factor back to the fold, bringing him back to the family.

“So that in December when we are going to face the real political opponents, we are going us a unified NPP front. It shouldn’t be difficult at all. Whatever it is, we are going to reach out. As a national chairman, I’m promising you, we will take up the mantle and reach out to him.”

I did not bribe anybody – NPP MP who gave envelope to EC officials during Ejisu by-election says

Professor Kingsley Nyarko, the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has refuted allegations suggesting that the money he offered to electoral officers during the Ejisu constituency by-election on Tuesday, April 30, was intended as a bribe.

The incident, captured on camera and circulating since Tuesday afternoon, has sparked widespread discussion. Following its emergence, the Electoral Commission swiftly removed the involved officers and referred the matter to the police for investigation.

In the video, Prof Nyarko can be seen conversing with electoral officers. At one point, he approaches a table manned by some officers, takes out a white envelope, and offers it to them. The officers appear hesitant to accept it, and Prof Nyarko eventually places the envelope on the table before departing.

In response, Prof Nyarko informed Joy FM that the envelope contained money meant as a gesture to provide lunch for the election officials. He emphasized that his actions were not indicative of bribery, as he would not risk attempting to bribe officials openly.

This statement from Prof Nyarko comes amid ongoing scrutiny and investigation into the matter.

Professor Nyarko asserted that if he had intended to bribe officials, he wouldn’t have done so in a public space.

“If I were to influence them, do you think I will do it in that public space? What I want to put on record is that I did not bribe anybody, I have not influenced anybody to vote or to do anything untoward for my candidate,” he said.

He further argued that individuals were free to interpret the event as they pleased, but his conscience was clear because he couldn’t influence EC officials who were “trained, honest, and disciplined to engage in any untoward actions in a public place.”

Professor Nyarko, despite the widespread dissemination of the video, maintained his composure, asserting that he harbored no guilt as he believed he had committed no wrongdoing. He acknowledged the likelihood of others interpreting the incident to fit their own agendas.

Emphasizing his standing as a respected educator, Professor Nyarko highlighted his track record, citing his discipline and integrity as evidenced by his past actions.

Furthermore, he reiterated his willingness to cooperate with investigations should the necessity arise.

When questioned about his relationship with the EC officials that led to him handing them the envelope, he said, “So if I see you, do I have to know you before I do you a favour? …. So there should not be any relationship before [handing an envelop]. I have not influenced anybody negatively to turn the people in a certain direction.”

Meanwhile, he was optimistic that his candidate, Kwabena Boateng of the New Patriotic Party, would win convincingly.

An onlooker recounted that the accused, identified as a male, took out his phone inside the booth and began recording himself.

Reportedly, law enforcement officers intervened promptly, arresting the individual. The witness added that following the apprehension, the officers escorted the man away from the polling station in custody.

A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @KyeiMeshack shows a group of women frantically reporting that a group of people from an unamed party snatched the ID cards of some of their residents.

In the video captioned “Heerrrh!!!@NPP_GHis losing the Ejisu Bye Elections”, a woman narrates encountering a group of men who inquired about their voting intentions.

The woman in a white top and blue scarf expressed frustration as the men allegedly confiscated another resident’s ID card.

And in an attempt to inquire further, things got confrontational.

“So we met this man who asked us where we are going to cast our votes. he then asked us where our ID cards were, I told him I don’t have it with me,.

Before I knew, he had snatched that of a young lady’s card and put it in their car, when I went close to ask why, he asked me, what do I want, then I asked why do they have to take her card, it doesn’t belong to you so return it” she fumed.

She cautioned that the residents of Ejisu remain vigilant and alert, monitoring closely for any signs of corruption during the ongoing voting process.

While not explicitly identifying the individuals or party responsible for suggesting the country is facing economic challenges, they levied allegations of vote-buying, labeling the accused individuals as thieves.

“We are on alert, not loosing guard. You people are thieves, you claim Ghana is bankrupt but you are just throwing money around! Thieves, Ghana isn’t broke, they are just wasting the money around” she said.

    About the by elections

The by-election, which is still underway comes after prompted by the unfortunate passing of John Kumah, the Member of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, the Electoral Commission (EC) became embroiled in controversy during the process.

Following the emergence of footage showing an unidentified individual placing an envelope on their table, suspicions arose regarding potential attempts to manipulate the polls. As a result, the EC withdrew two officials from the election process.

In response to the allegations of bribery, the EC issued a press release, signed by Samuel Tettey, confirming the removal of the two officials from their roles.

EC suspends 2 officials accused of taking bribe during Ejisu by-election

The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended two officials who were allegedly caught accepting a bribe during the ongoing Ejisu by-election.

The accusation involves Kingsley Nyarko, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, who was seen in a viral video handing what appeared to be an envelope to the EC officials.

The EC has taken swift action by temporarily suspending and withdrawing the two officials from their duties in the by-election.

“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place.

“The commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff.

“The commission will not countenance acts which cast a slur on the integrity of the institutions and will not hesitate to sanction its officials who violate its laws,” the Commission stated.

However, the NPP leadership is yet to officially comment on the matter.

The Ejisu by-election has been closely watched as NPP’s Kwabena Boateng competes against five other candidates, including Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who is running independently after leaving the NPP.

Certain constituents in Ejisu, Ashanti Region have been spotted in a video playing cards instead of participating in the ongoing by-election.

Explaining their decision to boycott the election to Kofi TV, they stated that nothing will convince them to go and vote unless they are given money.

According to them, they can’t go and vote on an empty stomach, therefore, they will rally behind whichever candidate that will give them 200 or 500 Ghana cedis.

The Electoral Commission (EC)  officially approved six candidates to participate in the ongoing Ejisu by-election.

This by-election, aims to elect a new parliamentary representative for the Ejisu Constituency following the demise of the incumbent, John Kumah, who also served as the deputy finance minister.

Kwabena Boateng, representing the NPP, has secured the second position on the ballot and emerges as one of the leading candidates.

Former MP Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, standing as an independent candidate, occupies the fourth spot, with Beatrice Boakye of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) listed third.

Esther Osei represents the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and holds the first position on the ballot. Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Joseph Attakora, both running as independent candidates, occupy the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

It’s noteworthy that the largest opposition party, the NDC, has opted not to nominate a candidate for the by-election.

Anticipations suggest that Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former three-term NPP member of Parliament running as an independent candidate, could pose a significant challenge to his former party.

Additionally, there are murmurs of discontent among some constituents, who express grievances over neglected promises and unmet needs, with sentiments of hunger and dissatisfaction looming over the electoral process.

GHC940,000, 5 pickups, and 100 strong boys among items Owusu Aduomi demanded from NDC for Ejisu by-election

Recent documents sighted by The Independent Ghana suggest that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is supporting former Ejisu Member of Parliament, Kwame Owusu Aduomi, who is contesting the Ejisu by-election.

Kwame Owusu Aduomi has departed from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest as an independent candidate in today’s by-election.

Before the election, the NPP accused Kwame Owusu Aduomi of being affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and receiving support from the party.

In response, Kwame Owusu Aduomi denied the allegation, suggesting that if the NDC supports him, it is likely due to his successful initiatives during his time as a legislator.

But a document shared by former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho suggests that Mr Aduomi is in bed with the NDC.

Ahead of the election, Mr Aduomi is said to have requested a list of items from the NDC to aid his campaign and boost his chances of winning.

The list of items he allegedly demanded, per the document, is as follows.

    • 5 branded pick-ups for the campaign }
    • 50.000 A3 size posters
    • 20,000 A4 size flyers for commercial vehicles
    • cash support for community entry on traditional leaders (GHC 240,000.00)
    • elections day expenditures for polling agents and police (GHC500,000.00)
    • 100 very strong boys to protect me during the campaign and on the election day.
    • 3 giant billboards at vantage areas (optional)

He was, however, reportedly provided the following by the NDC:

    • 3 branded pick-ups. This must be picked from the campaign regional pool and must be returned after the elections

Recent documents obtained by The Independent Ghana indicate that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is supporting former Ejisu Member of Parliament, Kwame Owusu Aduomi, in the Ejisu by-election.

Kwame Owusu Aduomi has left the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to run as an independent candidate in today’s by-election.

Before the election, the NPP accused Kwame Owusu Aduomi of having ties to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and receiving support from the party.

In response, Kwame Owusu Aduomi refuted the allegation, suggesting that if the NDC supports him, it is likely due to his successful initiatives during his time as a legislator.

However, a document shared by former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, appears to confirm Mr. Aduomi’s association with the NDC.

Ahead of the election, the NDC allegedly provided the following items:

    • 3 branded pick-ups. This must be picked from the campaign regional pool and must be returned after the elections
    • 30,000 A3 size posters
    • 20,000 A4-size flyers for commercial vehicles

    • mobilise 50 boys. pick them from the regional team. Those who are under training for the national general elections. They should be boys who know the Ejisu area very well.

These items provided are not exactly what Mr Aduomi requested from the NDC to aid his campaign and boost his chances of winning.

The list of items he reportedly demanded, per the document, is as follows:

    • 5 branded pick-ups for the campaign
    • 50,000 A3 size posters

Document showing NDC’s support for Owusu Aduomi in Ejisu by-election pops up

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has shared documents that suggest that the opposition party’s support for former Ejisu Member of Parliament, Kwame Owusu Aduomi, who is participating in the Ejisu by-election.

Kwame Owusu Aduomi left the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to run as an independent candidate in the by-election happening today.

Prior to today’s election, the NPP accused Kwame Owusu Aduomi of being an NDC member and also receiving support from the party.

Kwame Owusu Aduomi refuted the allegation and noted that should the NDC support him, it could only mean they are impressed by the initiatives he took while serving as a legislator.

There was no evidence to prove the NPP’s claim until now.

Per the April 18th document shared by Mr Anyidoho with NDC’s logo and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party ordered its constituency leadership to provide the logistical assistance needed to enable him to win the by-election to fortify the party’s strength in the Ashanti Region, known to be the NPP’s stronghold.

“The National Leadership of the National Democratic Congress wishes to officially bring to your attention, our resolve to support Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, the former Member of Parliament of the Ejisu Constituency.

“Our decision is borne out of the series of meetings we have had with Mr. Aduomi on the subject of the NDC throwing our support behind him to run as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the upcoming by-election at the Ejisu Constituency.

“The ultimate aim is to see our Party’s strength in the Constituency and the Ashanti Region as a whole. As a former member of parliament for the area, the leadership is aware of his following, hence, partnering with him as our candidate in this election will reduce the fortunes of the NPP and make them unpopular, leading to the 2024 National Elections.

“You are by this letter, mandated to provide Mr. Aduomi all the logistical support he has requested,” portions of the statement read.

Ahead of the by-election to fill the seat left vacant by the late John Kumah, political messaging has intensified as the governing party presents Kwabena Boateng as its candidate.

Mr. Boateng will compete against five other candidates, including Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who parted ways with the governing party to run independently in the upcoming by-election.

He was reportedly provided 3 branded pickups, 30,000 A3 size posters, 20,000 A4 size flyers for commercial vehicles, cash support of GHC500,000 and 50 boys to aid his campaign.

The NDC is yet to comment on the matter.

7,000 police officers, 6 contenders, 92,564 voters – Find out what is happening at Ejisu today

Today, April 30, voters in the Ejisu constituency will cast their votes to choose a new Member of Parliament. This follows the passing of John Kumah, who was elected under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket in 2020.

Kumah, serving as deputy finance minister, has been chosen as the NPP candidate for the December 2024 elections. Interestingly, the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), opted not to nominate a candidate, citing its intention to concentrate efforts on the broader 2024 general elections.

We examine significant figures related to the election organization. Given that the vote is situated in the Ashanti Region, traditionally a stronghold for the NPP, expectations lean towards their victory.

    Six aspirants

The Electoral Commission (EC), weeks back announced that six aspirants were in the race. Three party-backed candidates and three independent candidates.

The list in order of their appearance on the ballot paper is as follows:

    1. Esther Osei (CPP)
    2. Kwabena Boateng (NPP)

    4. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi (Independent)
    5. Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (Independent)
    6. Attakorah Joseph (Independent)

    92564 voters on voters register

To ensure security during the election, over 7,000 police officers will be deployed, as reported by Starr FM. The Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, has assured that the peaceful atmosphere witnessed in the Assin North and Kumawu by-elections will be replicated.

Voting typically commences at 8 am and concludes at 5 pm, after which the ballots will be counted, collated, and the winner declared.

The High Court in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, has dismissed an injunction application against the by-election in Ejisu after the plaintiff, Emmanuel Gallo, withdrew the case.

Gallo, the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), had filed for an interlocutory injunction to stop the Ejisu by-election scheduled for April 30.

His aim was to halt the election until a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC), which sought to prevent Esther Osei from representing the party in the poll, was resolved.

Gallo claimed that the party had officially informed the EC of its decision not to participate in the by-election on April 18.

However, he later withdrew the case, citing calls from notable individuals, including the former party chair and current Paramount Chief of Nandom Traditional Area, Naa Prof. Edmund N. Dele Chii VIII.

Gallo stated that he withdrew the case to promote cohesion and unity among CPP members.

“The same introspection the Plaintiff considers to help with the unity and cohesion within the party. Based on these happenings and calls, the Plaintiff prays to withdraw the instant application and the Suit even though it is clear that the Defendant cannot legally conduct the elections with an illegitimate candidate purporting to be a constitutionally elected parliamentary candidate in the Ejisu bye-election. This is after the Convention People’s Party (CPP) clarified that it has not placed any injunction on the parliamentary by-election process in Ejisu.

The Secretary-General of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has voiced confidence in the ruling party’s prospects for victory in the upcoming Ejisu by-election scheduled for April 30, 2024.

In his statement, he emphasized that no election can be considered “easy,” as all candidates involved diligently prepare to secure victory.

Despite a survey by Global Info Analytics indicating a competitive by-election, Kodua expressed certainty in the NPP’s candidate, Kwabena Boateng, winning in the Ejisu constituency.

During an interview with Oyerepa TV, Kwesi Parker-Wilson questioned the significance of the statistics from Global Info Analytics, portraying the by-election as a tight race for the NPP.

Frimpong Kodua responded, ““If you look at the statistics coming from the Global Info Analytics, it depicts that this is a tight race for the NPP in this election [the Ejisu by-election]. Do you agree?”

“There is no small election in Ghana, every election is a tough one. At the end of the day, if you put strategies in place, you will win. I can assure you that on Tuesday, [April 30, 2024] the NPP is winning.”

Key Points About the Upcoming Ejisu By-election:

The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed the clearance of six candidates to contest the Ejisu by-election on April 30, 2024.

This by-election, overseen by the EC, aims to elect a parliamentary representative for the Ejisu Constituency following the passing of the incumbent, John Kumah, who also served as the deputy finance minister, on March 7, 2024.

Leading the contenders is Kwabena Boateng, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, positioned at number two on the ballot. Former MP Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate, occupies the fourth spot, while Beatrice Boakye, representing the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), is listed third.

Esther Osei, endorsed by the Convention People’s Party (CPP), is positioned at number one on the ballot. Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Joseph Attakora, both independent candidates, hold the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

Notably, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opted not to field a candidate for the by-election.

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former three-time NPP MP who is contesting as an independent candidate, is anticipated to present a strong challenge to his former party.

  • And so what if I am an NDC member, it doesn’t concern you – Former Ejisu MP goes hard on NPP

And so what if I am an NDC member, it doesn’t concern you – Former Ejisu MP goes hard on NPP

Former Ejisu Member of Parliament, Kwame Owusu Aduomi, has broken his silence after being accused of siding with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his quest to win the Ejisu by-election slated for April 30, 2024.

In his final campaign rally before the Ejisu by-election on April 30, flagbearer for the NPP, Dr Bawumia warned against splitting votes among independent candidates, suggesting that such actions could unintentionally benefit the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Mahama.

“The NPP government has improved the lives and the people of Ejisu than the NDC. Nothing really worked during the NDC era…MPs don’t sponsor projects; they lobby for projects from the government in power…In parliament, the NPP has 138 including the independent candidate while NDC has 137. And so, a vote for an independent means handing over power to NDC and John Mahama.

“And so that is why the NDC did not fill a candidate for this by-election, they are sponsoring the independent candidate”, he remarked. Let’s all come out in our numbers on election day and vote massively for Lawyer Kwabena Boateng to continue the late John Kumah’s work”, he said.

Reacting to this comment while engaging the media, Kwame Owusu Aduomi noted that should the NDC support him, it could only mean they are impressed by the initiatives he took while serving as a legislator.

Despite indicating that he is not an NDC member, he noted that it is none of the ruling party’s business should he decide to join the opposition party.

“Living here with you all, can you say I am not an NPP member? But they say I am an NDC member. If NDC likes me, it could be because of my good work when I was an MP. They all benefited from it. So if NDC likes me, that is it but that does not mean I am an NDC,” he said.

“Even if I am an NDC member, I like it. It doesn’t concern you.”

He also cautioned against any tactics by the ruling party that would surmount the will of the Ejisu electorates.

“Anyone who tries to manipulate the elections or brings thugs to cause violence, shall not succeed. It will not happen here. Anyone who tries that will also face the consequences.

“Here is a town belonging to Yaa Asantewaa. So we are not afraid of blood,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo has strongly refuted accusations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) intends to manipulate the upcoming Ejisu by-election.

Addressing voters, he urged them to disregard such claims made by the Independent Parliamentary Candidate, Kwame Owusu Aduomi.

A tweet from @_AlbertAkwesi, shared on X (formerly Twitter), suggests that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) enlisted a standby power source for their rally in Ejisu, anticipating potential power outages (dumsor) which have become increasingly common recently.

Despite assertions from some party members, including Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, backing the Electricity Company of Ghana’s claims of providing stable nationwide power supply.

According to the ECG any outage experienced in any town or community could be as a result of localised fault.

Consequently, @_AlbertAkwesi, jabbed the NPP over its proactiveness to hired a plant if it claims ‘dumsor’ isn’t nationwide disturbance but localised.

“NPP hired a Plant for their last Rally in Ejisu, yet you are here defending dumsor … 🤣🤣 saying nana addos dumsor is dark and lovely 🤡🤡” he tweeted.

The decision to have a standby power source reflects the party’s proactive approach to mitigate any disruptions during the rally, acknowledging the challenges faced by citizens due to intermittent power supply; a claim which they deny.

Over the weekend, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) organized a significant rally in Ejisu as part of their campaign efforts leading up to the Ejisu by-election scheduled for April 30, 2024.

This comes after the seat become vacant following the demise of the Member of Parliament and deputy Finance Minsiter John Kumah

Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also the NPP’s presidential candidate, urged constituents to vote for the party’s candidate, Kwabena Boateng, stressing the importance of continuity and progress.

Special appearances by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia were anticipated at the rally. The event complemented the unity walk in Kumasi and aimed to garner support for Kwabena Boateng.

With the NPP aiming to maintain its parliamentary majority, the rally played a crucial role in their efforts to mobilize support.

“We are not afraid of blood” – Former Ejisu MP ‘warns’ NPP against vote rigging ahead of by-election

Former Ejisu Member of Parliament, Kwame Owusu Aduomi, has sounded a word of caution to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the Ejisu by-election slated for April 30, 2024.

There are reports that the ruling party seeks to engage in electoral malpractice in order to reclaim the Ejisu seat.

But President Akufo-Addo has strongly refuted accusations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) intends to manipulate the upcoming Ejisu by-election. Addressing voters, he urged them to disregard such claims made by the Independent Parliamentary Candidate, Kwame Owusu Aduomi.

Nonetheless, while addressing the media, Kwame Owusu Aduomi noted that the Ejisu electorates are willing to protect their votes from any individual or group that seeks to undermine their rights.

“Anyone who tries to manipulate the elections or brings thugs to cause violence, shall not succeed. It will not happen here. Anyone who tries that will also face the consequences.

“Here is a town belonging to Yaa Asantewaa. So we are not afraid of blood,” he said.

He also addressed claims by the NPP suggesting that he now sides with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his quest to win the by-election.

In his final campaign rally before the Ejisu by-election on April 30, Bawumia warned against splitting votes to independent candidates, suggesting that such actions could unintentionally benefit the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Mahama.

With the NPP holding 138 seats in parliament against the NDC’s 137, Bawumia highlighted the slim margin and emphasized the significance of every vote in securing a stronger mandate for the ruling party.

He underscored the importance of party loyalty and unity, advising against deviating from the NPP candidate and urging constituents to vote for continuity and progress in the constituency.

“The NPP government has improved the lives and the people of Ejisu than the NDC. Former Ejisu MP’s campaign team cautions NPP against voter intimidation ahead of by-election

The campaign team of former Ejisu MP, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of planning to use state security and vigilante groups to intimidate voters in Mr Aduomi’s stronghold ahead of the by-election.

They also allege that the NPP intends to engage in various illicit activities, including bribing electoral officers, orchestrating power outages during vote counting, ballot box stuffing, and transporting unqualified Senior High School students to vote.

The team expressed concerns over the NPP’s continued labelling of Mr. Aduomi as a National Democratic Congress-sponsored candidate.

Campaign Coordinator for Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, Isaac Boafo, made these allegations during a press briefing in Ejisu on Friday, April 26, stating their readiness to defend the integrity of the ballot.

“We have convened this morning to address the alarming and reckless behaviour exhibited by Chairman Wontumi, the NPP, and certain government officials leading up to the Ejisu by-election. Find below the full statement

Ladies and gentlemen of the press,

We have convened this morning to address the alarming and reckless behaviour exhibited by Chairman Wontumi, the NPP, and certain government officials leading up to the Ejisu by-election. It is with grave concern that we bring to light the nefarious schemes concocted by the NPP in their bid to manipulate Tuesday’s by-election.

Among the diabolic plans orchestrated by the NPP are:

    1. Ballot box stuffing, a blatant attempt to undermine the integrity of the electoral process.

    2. Allegations of bribing Electoral Commission officials to compromise on voting day, a despicable act that strikes at the heart of democracy.

    3. Utilization of military personnel to intimidate strongholds of Hon Owusu Aduomi, a clear abuse of power aimed at suppressing the will of the people.

    4. Deployment of police officers from different regions to seize control of ballot boxes, a flagrant violation of electoral norms.

    5. Threats of power outages during vote counting, a cowardly tactic to sow confusion and undermine transparency.

    6. Utilization of macho men to forcibly snatch ballot boxes from New sites and smaller towns, a brazen assault on the sanctity of the electoral process.

    7. Transporting over 500 SHS students to vote in an attempt to manipulate the outcome of the election, a shameful exploitation of young voters.

    8. Admission by NPP leadership at a critical meeting of their intention to resort to electoral fraud, demonstrating a blatant disregard for democratic principles.

    9. Unfounded attempts to tag Hon Owusu Aduomi as an NDC sympathizer to incite discord among constituents, a baseless and malicious tactic.

We issue a stern warning to the NPP that we will fiercely defend our ballots with every fibre of our being. Despite their desperate attempts to subvert the democratic process, Ejisu will stand firm and resolute on Tuesday.

Furthermore, we condemn in the strongest terms the wasteful expenditure of state resources for vote buying. It is reprehensible that such resources are not allocated to address the pressing challenges facing our community.

Ejisu will make a resounding statement on Tuesday, reaffirming our commitment to democracy and justice.

NPP knows that their candidate stands no chance in this by-election and for which reason they have resorted to telling wicked lies and digging dirt on Hon Owusu Aduomi.

The pinnacle of deceitfulness lies in the NPP’s audacious claim that the Bonwire market project, personally financed by Hon Owusu Aduomi, is somehow a Middle Belt Development Project. Let us set the record straight: Middle Belt market projects are not under the purview of Members of Parliament; they are typically awarded to contractors through formal procurement processes.

It is essential to note that when Hon Owusu Aduomi concluded his tenure in parliament, the Bonwire market project was merely at its foundation stage. However, his unwavering dedication to the welfare of his constituents compelled him to allocate substantial financial resources towards its completion.

To insinuate that this project falls under the umbrella of Middle Belt Development Projects is not only misleading but a deliberate attempt to diminish Hon Owusu Aduomi’s significant contributions to the community. It is a disservice to the constituents of Bonwire and Ejisuman and a blatant distortion of the truth.

The facts speak for themselves: Hon Owusu Aduomi’s personal investment and tireless efforts have propelled the Bonwire market project and others within the constituency towards fruition, benefiting the local economy and enhancing the livelihoods of countless individuals.

Let us not be swayed by political rhetoric or manipulated narratives. The truth prevails, and we must acknowledge and honour Hon Owusu Aduomi’s genuine commitment to community development.

    Thank you.

Agya Koo and Bonwire residents clash over choice of candidate for Ejisu by-election

Residents of Bonwire vehemently opposed Ghanaian actor Agya Koo as he campaigned vigorously for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, in the Ejisu Constituency.

Instead, many residents showed massive support for their independent parliamentary candidate, former Ejisu MP Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi.

In a viral video, Agya Koo repeatedly shouted the number 2 (the ballot number of Lawyer Kwabena Boateng), while the residents chanted the number 4, which is Kwabena Owusu Aduomi‘s ballot number.

Six candidates have been cleared by the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest in the upcoming Ejisu by-election in the Ashanti Region, scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The Ejisu seat has been vacant since March 7, 2024, following the death of its Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. John A. Kumah, who is yet to be buried.

Nominations opened by the Electoral Commission were officially closed on Thursday, April 18, with six candidates successfully filing their nominations and cleared to contest. The candidates are Esther Osei representing the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and picking the number one spot, followed by the NPP’s Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, Beatrice Boakye of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), former NPP MP contesting as an independent candidate, Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, and two independent candidates, Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Attakorah Joseph, picking numbers 5 and 6 respectively.

  • Why CPP is in court to halt Ejisu by-election

Why CPP is in court to halt Ejisu by-election

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has filed an interlocutory injunction application against the Electoral Commission (EC) in an attempt to halt the Ejisu by-election.

The CPP’s action seeks to prevent the by-election scheduled for April 30 from proceeding until a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission, aimed at preventing Esther Osei from representing the party in the poll, is resolved.

The lawsuit, initiated by Emmanuel Gallo, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the CPP, argues that the party officially informed the Electoral Commission of its decision not to participate in the by-election on April 18.

Among the six reliefs the party is seeking, it is praying the court to declare “that on record, no Constituency Branch Conference of the CPP has been held in Ejisu and elected the said Esther Osei or anybody as a Parliamentary candidate for consideration and approval by the CPP’s Central Committee to be submitted to Defendant as CPP’s Parliamentary candidate for the said Ejisu Constituency by-election.”

The party argues that any candidate purportedly representing the CPP in the by-election, especially Esther Osei, has not been officially endorsed through the party’s internal processes as mandated by its constitution.

It further stated that its Central Committee has not approved Esther Osei or any other person to contest on behalf of the CPP in the Ejisu Constituency by-election.

According to the CPP, the selection of a parliamentary candidate for the constituency should involve the Constituency Branch Party Conference, followed by approval from the Central Committee, neither of which has occurred in this case. The party asserts that neither Esther Osei nor any other individual has been duly elected through the party’s established procedures for candidate selection in the Ejisu Constituency.

In its legal action, the CPP seeks a declaration affirming that the party’s Central Committee has not endorsed Esther Osei or any other candidate to contest on behalf of the CPP in the Ejisu Constituency by-election.

The party is asking the High Court to halt the by-election until its claims and demands are resolved.

CPP applies for interlocutory injunction to suspend Ejisu by-election

Convention People’s Party (CPP) has submitted an interlocutory injunction application to the Electoral Commission (EC), requesting the suspension of the Ejisu by-election.

The CPP’s objective is to delay the April 30 by-election until a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission, aimed at preventing Esther Osei from representing the party in the election, is resolved.

Emmanuel Gallo, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the CPP, initiated the lawsuit, stating that the party officially informed the Electoral Commission on April 18 of its decision not to participate in the by-election.

Among the six reliefs the party is seeking, it is praying to the court to declare “that on record, no Constituency Branch Conference of the CPP has been held in Ejisu and elected the said Esther Osei or anybody as a Parliamentary candidate for consideration and approval by the CPP’s Central Committee to be submitted to the defendant as the CPP’s Parliamentary candidate for the said Ejisu Constituency by-election.”

The party contends that any candidate purportedly representing the CPP in the by-election, particularly Esther Osei, has not been officially endorsed through the party’s internal processes as mandated by its constitution.

The CPP clarified that Esther Osei or any other individual has not been officially endorsed by the party’s Central Committee to contest in the upcoming Ejisu Constituency by-election.

According to the CPP, the selection of a parliamentary candidate for the constituency should involve the Constituency Branch Party Conference, followed by approval from the Central Committee, a process which has not been completed in this case.

The party asserts that no candidate has been duly elected through the established procedures for candidature selection in the Ejisu Constituency.

In its legal action, the CPP seeks a declaration affirming that the party’s Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate for the by-election.

The party is petitioning the High Court to halt the by-election until its claims and requests are addressed.

Major roads in Ejisu under renovation ahead of by-election

The government has commenced the renovation of vital roads across several neighborhoods within the Ejisu Municipality, affirming its dedication to ensuring prompt project completion.

Inspecting ongoing projects on April 18, Roads and Highways Minister Francis Asenso Boakye dismissed claims that the initiatives were prompted solely by the impending by-election in the area.

Approximately 32 road projects are in progress within the Ejisu Constituency, managed by various departments including Urban, Feeder, and Highway.

The Minister clarified that these contracts were initiated within the past three months, predating the passing of Ejisu MP John Ampontuah Kumah.

“Currently, about 32 projects are going on in the municipality, these projects include urban roads, Ghana Highway authority, and Feeder roads projects. I’m satisfied with the work going on, the contractors are some of the best we have.”

“I’m confident they will continue to work very hard so that we can complete the project as scheduled. None of these projects was awarded in the last three months.

“These are not by-election projects, for the past three years, some of the projects have been going on. The MP who passed on was instrumental in making sure that these projects were designed and constructed.

“Rest assured; these are not by-election projects; these are normal projects the ministry is implementing,” he said.

He underscored that the construction endeavors aren’t exclusively linked to the forthcoming by-election, highlighting the government’s broader commitment to nationwide infrastructure enhancement.

Assuring residents, Bantama MP emphasized that road rehabilitation aims to bolster connectivity, safety, and socio-economic growth in the region.

“Presently, around 32 projects are underway in the municipality, covering urban, Ghana Highway Authority, and Feeder roads projects. I’m content with the progress; the contractors are among the best we have,” he stated.

“I’m confident they will maintain their diligence to ensure timely project completion. None of these projects were initiated in the past three months.”

“These aren’t by-election ventures; some have been ongoing for three years. The late MP played a significant role in their development and execution.”

“Rest assured; these aren’t by-election ventures; they are standard ministry projects,” he affirmed.

Contractors are presently engaged in projects across communities like Achiakrom, Abankro, Donyina, Onwe, and Adako Jachie.

EC clears six aspirants for Ejisu by-election

The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that six candidates have been given the green light to participate in the upcoming Ejisu by-election, slated for Tuesday, April 30.

The nomination period ended on Thursday, April 18, with some contenders rushing to submit their forms at the EC’s Ejisu district office in the Ashanti Region.

Leading the group is Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary aspirant, who secured the second position.

Former MP Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, running as an independent candidate, will be fourth on the ballot, while Beatrice Boakye representing the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) will appear third.

Esther Osei is the Convention People’s Party (CPP) candidate, listed first on the ballot. The last two spots are held by Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Joseph Attakora, both independent candidates designated fifth and sixth, respectively.

However, the nomination process faced controversy when executives of the CPP reportedly tried to block their own parliamentary candidate, Esther Osei, from submitting her nomination papers.

Regional Chairman Emmanuel Gallo purportedly instructed the EC not to accept the documents, causing uncertainty for Osei’s campaign team.

This incident arose due to an internal dispute within the CPP, following the resignation of several top officials. Deputy National Organiser Eric Osei Boateng criticized the Regional Chairman’s actions and clarified that the internal issues have been resolved by the High Court.

Following communication with the EC regional office and headquarters, the nomination forms have been accepted.

The final list of candidates for the Ejisu by-election is as follows:

    Esther Osei (CPP)
    Lawyer Kwabena Boateng (NPP)
    Beatrice Boakye (LPG)
    Kwabena Owusu Aduomi (Independent)
    Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (Independent)
    Attakorah Joseph (Independent)
The by-election, scheduled for April 30, 2024, under the supervision of the Electoral Commission, aims to elect a Parliamentary representative for the Ejisu Constituency following the passing of Member of Parliament John Kuma, who also served as the deputy finance minister, on March 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, the largest opposition party, the NDC, has failed to nominate a candidate for the by-election, stirring speculation about the upcoming contest.

Former three-time New Patriotic Party member of Parliament Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, running as an independent candidate, is anticipated to give his former party a tough challenge.

The NPP allegedly supported Mrs. Helena Mensah, the presiding member of the Ejisu municipal assembly, and directed all the MMDCEs in the Greater Kumasi metropolis to campaign for her to secure the party’s parliamentary candidacy for the by-election, aiming to counter Aduomi’s influence in the constituency.

However, the delegates reportedly voted for Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the former vice-chairman of the constituency, maintaining Aduomi’s camp’s unity ahead of the election.

    Vote-buying Campaign

Twelve days before the by-election, the ruling New Patriotic Party has reportedly dispatched road contractors to the constituency to initiate road construction projects, aiming to sway voters.

Kwabena Boateng will beat Aduomi in Ejisu by-election – Wontumi

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has expressed confidence that the party will defeat its former Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, in the upcoming by-election.

Mr. Aduomi has decided to contest as an independent candidate, diverging from the party’s candidate selection.

Last week, his team announced this decision, citing concerns over the NPP leadership’s handling of crucial issues with the delegates’ album, which they believe undermines its integrity and fairness.

Chairman Wontumi, speaking to JoyNews, expressed disappointment in Mr. Aduomi, emphasizing the party’s readiness to face the by-election.

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi

“Honourable Osei Adjei was the MP, he was a minister, then you came to overthrow him. You also became Deputy Minister and John Kumah also came to overthrow you.

“So now why don’t you want to follow the party? Even John Kumah defeated him and Honourable Kwabena Boateng will defeat him too.

“But at the moment, development is what the people of Ejisu need and I am going to support the elected candidate to ensure we do what we can to address all their needs and wants,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi also raised suspicions about whether the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was influencing Kwabena Owusu Aduomi’s decision to run as an independent candidate.

“Is it the NDC pushing him? We are going to go deep into it because NPP has helped you, so you cannot be disloyal to this party. If we ask you what you have, it is all what NPP has helped you to achieve.

“This is what you can boast about. So if you don’t allow Kwabena Boateng to go, how will your turn come again,” he quizzed.

In response, the former MP has rejected accusations of betraying his party, citing unfair treatment as his reason for contesting independently.

Speaking to the media after submitting his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission, Mr. Aduomi expressed confidence in his chances of winning the by-election.

“I’m a civil engineer, I work. I’m not going to Parliament because I want money. If I want money I won’t go. I want to go to Parliament because I want to help my people the way I started and want to continue, it’s not about money.

“If I lose, I don’t care, but my people want me to continue with the good work I did, that is why they are calling for me. If I lose, there’s no problem, I will not quarrel with anybody.

“And I believe if they (NPP) also lose, they will not quarrel with anybody, it’s elections. The people will decide.

“But I’m not thinking of it (returning to NPP), not until they change the way they go about things, or until things are put right,” he stressed.

Mr. Aduomi expressed concerns about the NPP leadership’s handling of crucial issues related to the delegates’ album, which he believes undermines its integrity and fairness. Accompanied by his supporters, he filed his nomination at the Electoral Commission‘s (EC) office on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, the former Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways expressed confidence in his chances of winning but stated that he would accept defeat if he loses. He also refuted claims of betraying his party, accusing them of unfair treatment.

Mr. Aduomi indicated that he would consider returning to the NPP if the party addresses its issues appropriately.

“I’m a civil engineer, I work. I’m not going to Parliament because I want money. If I want money I won’t go, I want to go to Parliament because I want to help my people the way I started and want to continue, it’s not about money.

“If I lose, I don’t care, but my people want me to continue with the good work I did, that is why they are calling for me. If I lose, there’s no problem, I will not quarrel with anybody.

“And I believe if they also lose, they will not quarrel with anybody, it’s elections. The people will decide, I’m not thinking of it (returning to NPP), not until they change the way they go about things, until things are put right,” he declared.

This comes a few days after the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako assured there were ongoing discussions for Mr Aduomi to rescind his decision.
