Meet Cheddar’s tycoon big brother who’s richer than him

Kwaku Bediako is the Founder and Group Executive Chairman of the CH Group of Companies located in Accra Ghana. He is a multi-millionaire and senior biological brother of leader of the New Force Nana Kwame Bediako alias Cheddar or Fredom Jacob Caesar.

One of this companies, Goldkey Properties, a real estate companies which won the contract to construct the controversial $250 million Bank of Ghana new headquarters.

Through Goldkey, Mr Bediako holds massive properties for sale and rent in prime locations around Accra, including, Cantonments, Airport Residential Area, Ridge, Labone, East Legon and Abelemkpe.

As a child, Mr Bediako’s father preferred that he study science courses, however he differed in opinion. Therefore while studying at Mfantsipim School, he purposely underperformed, receiving E and F grades in those subjects.

“My father and I did not speak for two years because of it,” he told Lexis Bill on Personality Profile last Thursday. “It pained me and I began to go off track.”

Fast forward over 20 years later, the philanthropic arm of his business, the CH Group Foundation, recently donated $100,000 to the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund.

The donation is to help complete the construction of Ghana’s first infectious disease isolation and treatment facility, fully equipped with 100 beds.

The donation came after of Mr Bediako and his team decided to feed the needy during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, which according to him was very successful, having served 150,000 meals throughout the country.

Several weeks after the outbreak, it was announced that CH Group would make a hefty donation to build a facility in efforts to support the fight against Covid-19.

Kwame, a husband and father of three children has overcome many obstacles in his journey to becoming one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country. He recounts how the divorce of his parent’s divorce affected him.

“I did not see my mother for 10 years,” he explained. “My father served as my mum and dad at the same time.”

He acknowledged that while he had a terrific relationship with his father, his inability to deal with the divorce and his failing grades drove a wedge between himself and his father, pushing him into the company of bad friends.

After word went around that his son was not performing well academically, Mr Bediako’s father introduced him to his business in the oil sector, and that is how Kwaku Bediako’s career took off.

In 1997, he founded Chase Petroleum, a market-leading oil trading and bulk distributor.

Two years later, he tapped into the real estate market and established Goldkey Properties, a development and management firm that specializes in building upscale residential and commercial properties in prime locations across Accra.

As of today, Mr Bediako’s company oversees eight subsidiaries across Ghana, including the Tema Tank Firm Limited, Chase Petroleum and Barton Homes.

According to him, the biggest challenge he overcame thus far was choosing to focus on a specific industry in business.

“When the success came, there was so much going on,” he said. “I was in oil and there was a lot of money in it. I had to decide whether to buy big cars, chase women and misbehave or whether I should stay quiet and invest.”

He chose the latter, although he admits it was challenging to earn the amount of money he made at such a young age. “It can be easy to make mistakes,” he added.

Mr Bediako believes that a large part of his success is attributed to his drive to keep growing. “If I stand still I will sink. That is what keeps me going.” he disclosed.

Furthermore, he advises that success comes from building trust with people over time.

“I could have taken advantage of people but I never did. Cheating will always catch up with you so I always look at the big picture.”

Always focusing on the “big picture,” he concluded, has never let him down. “Think big. Don’t be distracted by the little things and you will go far.”

  • GRA ‘chases’ Cheddar for GHC7m unpaid taxes

GRA ‘chases’ Cheddar for GHC7m unpaid taxes

The Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA) is the heels of businessman and Independent Presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako popularly referred to as Cheddar.

Cheddar, faces a series of tax evasion scandals following revelations from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). According to GRA documents, Cheddar has incurred significant penalties, exceeding GHC7 million, for failing to file his income tax returns.

The leaked documents expose a disturbing pattern of tax evasion in Cheddar’s financial history. Between 2013 and 2016, he faced penalties of GHC15,222, GHC14,492, GHC13,760, and GHC6,526 for neglecting to file personal income tax returns. Despite apparent compliance in the years 2018, 2019, and 2020, Cheddar’s non-compliance with tax obligations resurfaced in 2021 and 2022.

The GRA documents reveal alarming figures, estimating evaded taxes at GHC2,088,228 for 2021 and a staggering GHC5,096,536 for 2022.

Cheddar, whose presidential bid hinges on promises of ushering in a new era of development and change in Ghanaian politics, now faces a credibility crisis. The consistent failure to fulfill the fundamental civic duty of paying taxes raises questions about his commitment to transparency and financial responsibility.

This revelation poses a clear litmus test for Cheddar to address the allegations of tax evasion with transparency and accountability. As he declares his intent to contest the highest office in the land, voters may struggle to reconcile his proclaimed commitment to positive change with the perceived financial hypocrisy laid bare by the GRA documents.

With the upcoming election this year, Cheddar’s ability to navigate and respond to these allegations will undoubtedly influence public perception and voter trust in his capacity to lead the nation. The GRA’s disclosure has cast a shadow over Cheddar’s presidential aspirations, making it imperative for him to confront these accusations and address the concerns raised about his financial practices.

Old video of Cheddar’s ‘hen and cock’ story surfaces

Business mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, has offered what one may describe as some rather startling insights into his ‘entrepreneurial giftings.’

He said that at the age of 21, he moved to Ghana from Europe after earning his first one million pounds in the year 2001.

Speaking in an interview with YouTube Vlogger, Vanessa Kanbi, the business mogul shared that his love for animals sparked his interest in venturing into animal farming.

He stated that as a young boy, he managed to purchase two animals which he described as a ‘hen and a cock,’ which he later turned around into owning over 200 more animals.

“When I was young, I managed to buy two animals and turned that into 200 and something and that was a hen and cock. I was just about 8 years and that was my passion and fantasy to be able to have chickens all over the place,” he said.

The business mogul said his entrepreneurial ventures which is mainly focused on real estate and property development, has earned him about 200 properties in Ghana and abroad.

Meanwhile, Freedom Jacob Caesar recently came under fire after it emerged that he was keeping two tiger cubs at his residence for about six months.

This came after some residents at the Wonda World Estates located near the British High Commission at Ridge in Accra, had expressed worry over the presence of the two tigers at the estate.

This, however, resulted in a cross-section of the public taking to social media to draw the attention of the Ghana Police Service to the situation, which they believed was illegal.

But Jacob Caesar, in his defence, said he went through the right processes in bringing the animals into the country to boost Ghana’s tourism sector.

“First, it is right, I have two tigers that I bought on a bid between Ghana and Dubai. I was the representative from the private sector that initiated my interest in purchasing these two animals. But we did go through the process, the animals are seven months old, still at the very young stage,” he said.

The businessman in an interview with journalists maintained that he bought the tigers with the intention of making Ghana one of the first in the greater part of the continent to have the animals.

“I went in to buy these animals to add the value of tourism in our country. I wanted to go into the Safari World by making sure that Ghana becomes the first country in the whole of West Africa, East Africa, and Central Africa, except for South Africa, which has these animals,” Nana Kwame Bediako said.

“Thief! Even your wife should not trust you, you know what I am talking about” – Kevin Taylor blasts Cheddar

Controversial commentator Kevin Taylor, known for his direct and critical approach to political figures, has unleashed a blistering attack on Cheddar, a prominent Ghanaian businessman and real estate mogul, during a recent episode of his ‘LOUD SILENCE’ program.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Taylor accused Cheddar, also known as Nana Kwame Bediako, of dishonesty and theft. He issued a challenge for Cheddar to appear on television and respond to his allegations, cautioning him against mentioning his name in any retort.

“Cheddar, you, you, you are a liar. Your wife should not even trust you. You Cheddar. And if you are a man, come on TV and respond to me. I say, Cheddar, you Cheddar, you are a liar and every liar is a thief. And I am sending my warning to you, if you are a man, mention my name in any of your comments and I will prove a point to you. And you know what I am talking about. You Cheddar, you know what I am talking about. You know. You know. You have spoken to me on the phone. You know. You are a liar. And right now it is going to be rough,” Taylor asserted in the video.

While Taylor did not explicitly state the reason for his attack on Cheddar, he hinted at possessing information that could expose him. Additionally, he claimed to have had phone conversations with Cheddar, emphasizing that Cheddar understood the context of his accusations.

Cheddar, also recognized as Freedom Jacob Caesar, serves as the founder and chairman of Kwarleyz Group, a company specializing in real estate, construction, and hospitality. Beyond his business ventures, he engages in philanthropy and social activism, contributing to various projects aimed at fostering African development and empowerment.

Cheddar, who has recently confirmed his presidential aspirations under the New Force movement has not responded to Taylor’s allegations, as of the time of writing this article.

Taylor, a US-based Ghanaian journalist, is the founder and CEO of Loud Silence Media, focusing on human interest stories and expressing vocal criticism towards the current NPP government. The unfolding situation promises to add further intensity to the already charged atmosphere.

Dr Arikana Chihombora-Quao denounces ‘The Convention’ cancellation, calls for Africa’s mental liberation

In a press conference following the unexpected cancellation of ‘The Convention: Igniting the Voices of Africa,’ Dr Arikana Chihombora-Quao, accompanied by Patrick Loch Otieno Lulumba, Peter Obi, and Nana Kwame Bediako, addressed the media. Their intended message of empowerment for African youth was disrupted, leaving attendees disheartened.

Dr Chihombora-Quao emphasised the significance of the convention, expressing, “The world at large knows that Africa’s future is in the hands of our youth.” The New Africa Foundation had specifically requested their presence to deliver a message of hope, resilience, and unity to the gathered youth.

Despite the cancellation, Dr Chihombora-Quao remained resolute, asserting, “We intended to continue to preach the gospel of truth until we reach the promised land.” She expressed confidence in Africa’s ability to overcome current challenges, describing Africans as “beautiful, intelligent, sophisticated, highly adaptable, and totally indestructible human beings.”

Highlighting the critical issue of mental colonization, she stated, “The most dangerous person for Africa today is a colonised African,” urging a self-reflection on the impact of colonial education. Dr Chihombora-Quao lamented the lack of African-authored literature in educational systems and questioned, “What have we done to undo the colonial education?”

Drawing attention to the role of educated Africans, she criticised the elite for failing to challenge the status quo. “Our miseducation is leading us to the Africa that we are today,” she declared. The Berlin Conference and its ongoing impact on everyday life were underscored, urging Africans to stand up against exploitation, neo-colonization, and imperialism.

Dr Chihombora-Quao’s passionate call for mental liberation and the rejection of colonial education serves as a powerful rallying cry for Africans to challenge the status quo and reclaim their narrative.

  • Anger and disappointment as ‘The Convention’ is cancelled in Ghana

Anger and disappointment as ‘The Convention’ is cancelled in Ghana

In an unexpected turn of events, the highly anticipated “Igniting the Voices of Africa” convention, featuring prominent leaders Dr Arikana Chihombora-quao, Patrick Loch Otieno Lulumba, Julius Malema, and Peter Obi, faced an abrupt cancellation, leaving attendees stranded and perplexed at Independence Square in Accra.

The Independence Square, once buzzing with excitement, saw groups of disappointed individuals blocked at the entrance by military and police personnel, citing the sudden cancellation of the event. Organizers were notably absent, and behind the security detail, the previously prepared stage was being disassembled, adding to the confusion among the gathered crowd extending from the Independence Arch to the Accra Sports Stadium.

Expressing his frustration, Ansumariam Dukuly, adorned in a red beret bearing the inscription “EEF,” voiced his disappointment at the unforeseen turn of events. He had travelled with high expectations to hear his leader, Julius Malema, and other esteemed panellists speak. Dukuly expressed his disappointment, not just in the cancellation, but also directed criticism towards the Ghanaian government.

In his own words, Dukuly stated, “I am disappointed, downhearted. I don’t mind what I paid to come here. I consider this place my home. Cancelling this programme, honestly, I won’t beat around; I am disappointed in the leadership, in the government of our Ghana. They should not do this.”

He went on to suggest a conspiracy, asserting, “They are trying to satisfy outsiders or our oppressors by stopping our leaders from coming here to speak to us. No other reason. They just want to satisfy their masters.”

Dukuly questioned the motive behind the cancellation, pointing out the visibly prepared stage. He believed that if there were legitimate reasons, the organizers would have communicated them to the attendees. Convinced that external influences were at play, he declared, “I am convinced if this programme is cancelled, the stopping of this programme was undermined by the imperialists and their friends.”

The conversation took a political turn as Dukuly criticized the government’s alignment with IMF and World Bank policies, accusing them of selling the country. He called for the exclusion of these institutions, stating, “IMF and the World Bank were put together to build France and Germany. After that, nothing.”

Dukuly challenged the government’s dependence on these institutions, emphasizing, “The leadership now is showing the ineptitude of how to run this country without the IMF and the World Bank, and we know other countries that have been prospering without these institutions. So how come with the natural resources and the population, the educated population of this country, how come they cannot do it without these institutions? I don’t see it.”

As attendees dispersed with disappointment etched on their faces, the sudden cancellation of the convention raises questions about the motivations behind such a decision and the impact on the voices eager to be ignited at this significant event.

You want to bring Belgians and Lebanese to take over Ghana – Social slams Cheddar’s New Force

Pressure continues to mount on an ambiguous political movement, The New Force, being led by Ghanaian millionaire and business magnate Freedom Jacob Caesar, widely recognized as Cheddar.

Since Shallie Abbiusi, a Belgium citizen who now resides in Ghana and works with GHOne TV, announced herself as the spokesperson for #TheNewForce on social media, there has been backlash from users daily.

A male socialite is the latest to drag ‘The New Force” in the mud. He is dissatisfied by the fact that the group remains anonymous and non-Ghanaians have been chosen to be the mouthpiece of a group that seeks to change the fortunes of the country and right the wrongs made by successive governments.

“You want Ghana’s progress, but you have used masks to campaign. So are we coming to vote for ghosts or Anas. Cheddar you are behind this and doing ‘Settings’. You think you can gamble with Ghana? You are bringing Lebanese to come and govern Ghanaians.

“They claim that their Information Minister or spokesperson is a foreigner. We had hope in you, but you are coming to use Ghana for branding,” the angry socialite said.

He encouraged Cheddar to give up the secrecy behind The New Force and make himself known to the public and begin making an impact in the lives of Ghanaians.

“If you really want to help Ghana, better start doing something now and stop this mask you are using. We need someone who can help the country grow.”

“If we needed foreigners to lead the country, we would have gone for King Charles, Donald Trump or Biden,” he added.

Presently, Freedom Jacob Caesar, widely recognized as Cheddar, appears to be dispelling all uncertainties and affirming that he is the individual behind the anonymity.

The complete confirmation of this remains uncertain, leading Ghanaians to anticipate an official revelation of the identity of this aspiring president.

Fraudulent claims shake #TheNewForce’s “the man in the mask” campaign

The vibrant political movement #TheNewForce has found itself embroiled in a controversy as allegations of fraudulent claims regarding the iconic “The Man in the Mask” campaign have surfaced. The movement, known for its innovative and grassroots approach, now faces a challenge from Sam Ankrah, who has purportedly asserted himself as the mastermind behind the campaign.

A recent statement issued by #TheNewForce categorically denies any association between Sam Ankrah and the creative conception, design, and inventive process that birthed “The Man in the Mask.” The statement expresses disappointment over what the movement describes as an attempt by Ankrah to exploit the creative ingenuity of young Ghanaians for personal political gain.

The dispute escalated when #TheNewForce, following legal counsel, announced their intention to file a complaint with the Electoral Commission. They claim that Ankrah’s actions violate Section 6 of the Political Parties Act 2000 (Act 526), an offense that carries the potential for a term of imprisonment not exceeding two years.

Furthermore, #TheNewForce has indicated their readiness to pursue civil action against Ankrah for infringement of intellectual property rights. They assert ownership over the original artistic and creative works, including graphics, images, and text associated with the campaign, as well as symbols, logos, and distinctive visual elements.

The movement demands that Ankrah immediately cease and desist from any further use, reproduction, distribution, or modification of their intellectual property. In addition, they have requested the removal of the contested images from all of Ankrah’s platforms and a public apology for the alleged infringement.

The city is now watching closely as this unfolding drama unfolds, questioning the authenticity of Sam Ankrah’s claims and pondering the potential impact on #TheNewForce’s vision for a new political era. The fate of “The Man in the Mask” campaign hangs in the balance, and citizens eagerly await further developments in this unexpected political and creative clash.
