Antique Lemonade Arts foundation officially launches legacy blog website, Ghananipa

The Antique Lemonade Arts foundation on January 27, 2025 has officially launched a legacy blog website, Ghananipa.

The site is aimed at preserving the legacy of Ghanaian individuals (legends) whose contributions have shaped and left a lasting impact on their societies, families and communities.

While delivering the opening address at the launch which took place at Dyna Space inside The Signature Apartments at East-Legon, the Chair of the Antique Lemonade Arts Foundation, Franka-Maria Andoh, shared how the idea for the legacy platform was born.

She explained that it all started in April 2023 during one of their events, where both seasoned and upcoming creatives came together to share ideas.

Through these interactions, they realized that information about some creative pioneers was scarce, and in some cases, there was little to no online presence about them.

Consequently, “We thought it was not right that it took such effort to find information on someone who had contributed greatly to the arts in Ghana during his lifetime. This I must say was the genesis of the Ghananipa project” Maria Andoh revealed.

About Ghananipa and the way forward

The Ghananipa platform provides in-depth profiles and a user-friendly archive that lets visitors explore and discover  the inspiring journeys of Ghana’s cultural icons, overlooked contributors, and several other influential thinkers.

The site will tell the stories of these heroes through pictures,  articles, interviews, and more.

It would not only focus on common and popular figures such as Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Asamoah Gyan, the likes of Theodosia-Okah among others but will be open to contributions from ordinary people who wish to tell their stories or stories of friends and relatives who are  still in their various capacities using their gifts to make a difference and changing lives.

“The unique thing about Ghananipa is that our focus is not necessarily on the well-known and popular Ghanaian, we are interested, probably even more so, in documenting regular folk who made and are still making a difference in their communities and families.

Ever since we embarked on this project, brochures kept popping up”.
Ghananipa provides the public with an opportunity to highlight the heroic contributions of individuals in society.

“It is a fluid project, and we are open to comments, corrections, additions and most importantly contributions” Franka-Maria Andoh stressed.
