Hamas is reportedly holding two Tanzanian individuals and one South African individual captive as stated by the Israeli government. This happened after the attacks in Israel on 7 October.

The ambassador of Tanzania to Israel has said that two people from Tanzania have been captured, or taken hostage.
The BBC talked to the father of a Tanzanian person who went missing in Israel. This person’s name is Joshua Mollel and he was studying agriculture on a kibbutz that was attacked.
He said to the BBC that he still hasn’t heard any news about what happened to his son.
Earlier this week, he mentioned that they had not talked since October 5th – just two days before the attack. He also mentioned that the entire family was extremely worried.
“He said on Sunday that we are unable to eat or sleep. When I go to the market, people inquire about the reason behind my significant weight loss. ”
The people in charge in South Africa have not said anything about the report that someone from their country is one of the hostages.
Israel has stated that people from 25 different countries are currently being held by Hamas.
A total of 135 out of the 224 individuals being held are from Thailand. Thailand has the highest number, with 54 individuals.
They were captured when members of Hamas, which many countries consider a terrorist group, entered Israel from Gaza and killed around 1,400 individuals.
Israel has responded by attacking Gaza with airstrikes. The health ministry run by Hamas claims that these attacks have caused the deaths of nearly 6,500 people.

So, even though Israelis are coming together to support their flag and agree that they need to remove Hamas, they are not fully supporting Benjamin Netanyahu.
Yes – he has a group of loyal supporters. However, there are some people who strongly believe that he is a big part of the issue – that he caused division in the country while trying to achieve his own goals related to the West Bank area and maintaining his position of power.
He has been accused of doing very bad things that could make him go to jail. His enemies believe that Netanyahu does everything to protect himself politically, and that everything leading up to the invasion is focused on him and Israel. -

Israel says it has bombed 250 places belonging to Hamas in the last day. However, a person from the UN who helps with humanitarian issues says that nowhere in Gaza is safe.
The organization responsible for helping Palestinians, the UN agency, discovered more fuel on Wednesday. However, they also mentioned that there is not much fuel left in Gaza and it may run out soon.

Israeli military claims to have killed Hamas divers trying to enter Israel from the sea
The Israeli military released a video showing Hamas divers trying to sneak into a place yesterday.
The Israel Defense Forces have stated that two members of Hamas tried to enter Israel by sea near Zikim, which is located just north of the Gaza Strip. They entered a beach in Gaza through a tunnel before attempting to access Israel.
They died because fighter jets and soldiers from Israel’s navy attacked them. The attack also destroyed a place where the bad guys kept their weapons.
The IDF did not say how this attempted sea invasion happened, but they released a video that shows attacks on the water’s surface.

How has Israel responded to most recent bombings?
Officials from the Palestinian health ministry in the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas, say that over 430 people have died since yesterday morning.

Israeli officials claim to have ‘thwarted’ two Hamas drones
We have new information about the two drones that Hamas said they had sent to southern Israel earlier.
The Israeli military says that they spotted and stopped two small flying machines, called drones, that flew over from the Gaza Strip into Israel. This happened near the border of Gaza in the areas known as Nir Oz and Ein HaBesor.
It didn’t say how the drones were stopped or if they were shot down.
In another report, the Israel Defense Forces stated that they successfully stopped a drone that had entered Israel from Lebanon. Once again, not much information was provided. -
Israeli family held hostage by Hamas causes sadness among relatives
Israel has reported that 222 individuals are being held captive in Gaza after the attacks carried out by Hamas on 7 October.
Yarden Bibas, his wife Shiri, and their two children, four-year-old Ariel and nine-month-old Kfir, were taken away from Nir Oz, a community in southern Israel.
Yarden’s sister, Ofri Bibas Levy, told the BBC that their family was hiding in a safe room when her brother sent a message in their family Whatsapp group saying “here we go again. ” They thought it was a rocket attack from Gaza.
Afterwards, a friend sent her a video of the family being taken by force, with Shiri holding her children.
Ofri says she was very scared, more scared than she has ever been before.
Three days later, she got pictures of her brother with a wound on his head and it looked like someone was holding a hammer. Two weeks later, Ofri still doesn’t know what happened to the family. -

Volunteers have been searching through the wreckage and destroyed houses, looking for people who are still alive and trying to find out the truth about what really occurred during the attack.

In a video, security cameras inside the kibbutz recorded Hamas members getting into the community.

Be’eri was the home of Lianne Sharabi, who was born in Britain. She lived there with her daughters Yahel and Noiya, and her husband Eli.
Lianne and her 13-year-old daughter Yahel were murdered by soldiers from Hamas in the attack.
In the beginning of the fighting, a group on the messaging app WhatsApp called Be’eri mum recorded what was happening. Parents were scared as they shared messages about armed people going to each house in the area and knocking on the doors.
Parents made a group with about 200 members. They used this group to tell other parents about the attacks and to give tips on how to keep safe by locking their rooms.
During a conversation, someone asked if there is something that can make us feel less worried. Very quickly, a neighbor replied and explained how the army could deal with the situation. -
At least 1,873 children killed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in two weeks
In the past two weeks, there have been Israeli airstrikes on Gaza that resulted in the death of at least 4,651 people. Out of those deaths, 40% were children.

Two US hostages, mother and daughter released by Hamas

Dr Shoshan Haran, who is 67 years old, along with her daughter Adi Shoham, who is 38 years old, Adi’s partner Tal Shoham, also 38 years old, and their children, Naveh, who is 8 years old, and Yahel, who is 3 years old, are thought to have been taken away from their house.
Dr Haran started a non-profit organization called Fair Planet. They found out that a phone owned by her husband, Avshalom, was traced to Gaza. They suspect that the entire family was kidnapped.
Economist Avshalom Haran, who held dual citizenship in Germany and Israel, has passed away, as confirmed by the BBC. He was sixty-six years old.
Sharon Avigdori, who is 52 years old, her 12-year-old daughter Noam, and Lilach Kipnis, who is 60 years old, are thought to have been taken away without consent.
Lilach’s partner, Eviatar Kipnis, who was 66 years old and had Italian citizenship, sadly passed away, according to the family’s statement.
Paul Vincent Castelvi, the person who took care of Eviatar Kipnis, was also murdered. -
First aid trucks arrive in Gaza

“The occupation forces have arrested Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a leader of Hamas, from his home in Beitunia. This is part of a large-scale arrest campaign in the occupied West Bank,” says the statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Club.
Yousef was arrested multiple times by Israeli forces. He has spent a total of 24 years in Israeli jails for different reasons, like encouraging violence, going into Jerusalem without permission, and being a member of Hamas.
He has been frequently appearing on international media recently. This week, he spoke to Canadian news outlet The Globe and Mail and said that he believes Hamas would be willing to release around 200 hostages if Israel agrees to a day-long ceasefire to allow aid to enter Gaza.The Israeli military said that Israeli security forces carried out an operation.
The statement said that many people who were wanted by the authorities were arrested in the West Bank, including a large number of Hamas members.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, 850 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. The people mentioned are lawmakers, important people, journalists, and former prisoners who have spent a long time in Israeli jails.

This attack resulted in the death of over 1,400 people and the capture of around 200 civilians and military personnel who are now believed to be held in Gaza.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has caused arguments among people using Weibo. Just like in other countries, the war has created different opinions among users, and posts about it are frequently seen by millions of people on Weibo.
But even though there are a lot of posts that support Israel, more people are starting to criticize the things Israel does. At the same time, there is also an increase in very extreme views that are against Jewish people. China’s online censors, who are very influential, have let these extreme views spread.
Deputy Chief of Mission Yuval Waks, who works at the Israeli Embassy in Beijing, mentioned that people in China have been showing strong disapproval towards Israel and, in many situations, expressing hatred towards Jewish people.

“We are a little sad to see that a country we have a good relationship with is not strongly condemning the situation,” Waks said. He also mentioned that the government’s stance often influences how people talk online.
While Beijing has tried to stay impartial in official statements, the media in China has shown a more biased perspective, often highlighting Israel’s bombings in Gaza and the resulting destruction.
Recently, the government of China has increased its criticism of Israel’s blockade of the Palestinian area. Their top official, Wang Yi, said Israel is going too far in defending itself and demanded a quick end to the fighting.
The United Nations and other groups that help people in need are asking for the fighting to stop in Gaza. They say the situation is getting worse and may become uncontrollable. Palestinian health officials say over 3,700 people have been killed in Gaza since the fighting began. This number includes over 1,500 children and 1,000 women.

Some well-known accounts have criticized the close relationship between Israel and the United States.
This well-known account with 6. 6 million followers claimed that Israel did not support China when the US imposed sanctions on it. The account questioned why China would now support Israel.
Xiao Qiang, a research scientist from the University of California Berkeley’s School of Information, explained that in China, big accounts that support the government usually control the online discussions. These accounts try to get attention by making outrageous claims and competing with each other.

Tiktok, Meta provided Hamas misinformation deadline by EU
TikTok and Meta have been asked by the EU to give them information about any false information that might have been shared on their platforms about the Israel-Gaza conflict.

Both companies have one week to reply. According to the new rules, the European Union (EU) has the authority to start an official investigation if it is not happy with the answers it receives.

This happened a week after the EU reached out to X, which was previously called Twitter, about the same worries.
X said that they had taken down many accounts that were connected to Hamas from their platform.
Social media companies are experiencing an increase in false information about the Israel and Hamas conflict. This includes edited pictures and videos with incorrect labels.
In October, EU commissioner Thierry Breton sent letters to the top leaders of Meta, TikTok, X, and Google. He asked them to reply within 24 hours.
But these letters were not official requests that follow the new EU laws that decide what can be published on the internet.
Now, with the Digital Services Act (DSA), the companies have to reply within the given time limits.
If you don’t follow the DSA, you could get fined up to 6% of your company’s total income, or your platform might be suspended.
Two deadlines instead of one.
Under the DSA, the Commission has given Meta and TikTok two specific times when they must complete certain actions.
The companies have been asked to give the information about “the crisis response” by 25 October, and they need to answer the questions about keeping the election fair by 8 November.
TikTok has been given the job of showing the European Commission how it is keeping children safe online by the deadline in November.
When asked for more information before, Mr. Breton said that Meta needs to show that they have taken action quickly, carefully, and impartially.
He explained that TikTok has a special responsibility to keep kids and teens safe by preventing violent content and terrorist messages.
Tiktok agreed that they received the EU’s request.
A spokesperson from TikTok said that they will release their first report about transparency next week. The report will provide more details about their efforts to ensure safety for their European users.

The leader of Egypt went to Beijing to participate in the Belt and Road Forum, a big event celebrating ten years of Xi’s global infrastructure project.
Xi also commended Egypt for playing a significant part in reducing tensions. He mentioned that China supports Egypt’s efforts to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered to Gaza.

Ghanaian in Israel recounts Hamas attacks
A Ghanaian resident of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv shared his experience of participating in a memorial event commemorating the victims of the Hamas attack that occurred on Saturday.
Seth Cudjoe, a professional living in the Yehuda suburb, described how the community in his neighborhood honored the victims by lighting candles in the form of the Star of David on Thursday.

“I was scared because it was my first time in a bunker,” says Mr Cudjoe, who in the early hours of Saturday sought shelter with his family as sirens went off.
“You could hear the sound of rockets being intercepted by the Iron Dome,” remembers Mr Cudjoe, “but when there was a blast you could feel the vibrations”.
Over the weekend, Palestinian militants caused the deaths of over 1,300 individuals in Israel and abducted at least 150. In the Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, over 1,500 people have lost their lives due to Israeli retaliatory airstrikes.

Tensions high in London as result of Hamas attack in Israel
I recently listened to a briefing by Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor from the Metropolitan police that took place remotely.
He said that people in London were very anxious after the Hamas attack in Israel last Saturday.
Because of this, he stated that the police had implemented a very important plan to help and protect neighborhoods throughout the city.
Over 1000 officers have been assigned to this job.
The police office, called the Met, says that a lot of people are going to be at the protests in support of Palestine in London tomorrow.
Taylor said that while people can protest, they can’t encourage or cause violence.
He said that the law is very clear about flags and banners. Anyone who waves a flag supporting Hamas or other banned groups will be arrested.
He said if someone has or holds a Palestinian flag alone, it is not against the law. However, if they do other things along with it, they might be breaking the law. -
Four people detained at vigil following Hamas attacks
Four people were taken into custody after a large group of individuals assembled in Manchester to hold a ceremony following the Hamas attacks.
The dangerous group attacked on Saturday and killed many people and took many hostages.
Chief Constable Stephen Watson of Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that the vigil on Wednesday went well and there were no major problems.
The police arrested four people because they thought they were causing trouble.
The police have released one of the suspects after doing more investigation.
In a post on social media, the police said the arrests were not for supporting Palestine. They also mentioned that people have the right to express their support for both Israel and Palestine. The post was later deleted.
The statement said that the force makes it very clear that supporting Palestine is not the same as supporting the terrorist group Hamas.
The force was asked why the post was taken down.

“She said that X is dedicated to being open and clear, prioritizing safety, and making sure the Digital Services Act is successful. X will keep working hard to achieve these goals. ”
EU commissioner Thierry Breton wants X and Meta to show evidence of promptly and carefully taking fair and unbiased measures.
In August 2023, the EU made new rules that control the type of things people can post on the internet.
The Digital Services Act wants big online platforms to delete illegal content and prove they have done something about it if asked.
The EU told the BBC that it cannot currently say anything about what will happen next in these particular cases. However, they explained what could possibly happen according to the law.
The DSA lets the EU do interviews and inspections, and if it’s not happy, it can start a formal investigation.
If the commission thinks a platform has not followed the rules or is not solving the issues it found, and has the potential to harm users, it can take stronger actions.
This can mean that the platform may have to pay a large amount of money as a punishment, and if necessary, it can ask judges to stop the platform from operating in the EU for a little while. -

Soldiers who spent a lot of time searching for and finding dead bodies of regular people said there was a terrible event where lots of people were killed. It seems probable that most of the killing occurred in the early hours of the attack on Saturday.
The Israeli army was surprised and it took them 12 hours to reach the kibbutz, according to Davidi Ben Zion, who is the deputy commander of Unit 71. Unit 71 is a skilled group of paratroopers who led the attack.
“He said we helped many moms and dads and kids survive, thank God. ” Sadly, some people were harmed by Molotov cocktails being thrown at them. They behave very aggressively, just like animals do.

People living in Kfar Aza and other Israeli communities near the Gaza wire had a good life, even though there was a risk of rockets from Hamas. In the houses, lawns, and open areas of the kibbutz, there was always a concrete shelter nearby.
All the houses had extra strong rooms for safety. They also had outdoor areas with open spaces, grills for cooking, swings for the kids, and clean air.
But no one in Kfar Aza or anywhere in Israel believed that Hamas would be able to break through Israel’s protections and cause the deaths of so many people.
Israeli people are feeling a mix of horror, anger, and shock because they can’t believe that their government and military didn’t do their main job of keeping them safe.
The bodies of dead Hamas fighters, who caused the death of many people, have been left to decay in the sun. They are lying uncovered in the places where they were killed, such as bushes, ditches, and the lawns of the kibbutz.
Next to their bodies are the motorcycles they used to quickly enter the kibbutz after getting past the border fence. The broken remains of a paraglider that was used to fly over Israel’s defenses can be seen there. It was knocked off its path and landed on a flower bed.The Israelis had a tough fight to take back Kfar Aza from other border settlements.

However, in Gaza, many regular people are also getting killed. International humanitarian law says that everyone fighting in a war should keep the civilians safe.

Major General Itai Veruv, who was near the end of his military career when he led the battle to recapture the kibbutz, strongly believed that Israel was following the rules of war properly.

He said very firmly that they did not stop following the laws of war. It is sure that if more Palestinian civilians are killed, Israel will receive more and stronger criticism.
