I anointed you! You used to call me papa! – Prophet Nigel tells Lilian Kumah

The General Overseer of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has reacted to Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah, over her recent attacks against him over comments he made regarding her late husband.

Following Dr. Kumah’s death on March 7, 2024, there has been speculation about the cause, with Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s prophecy being one of the videos that went viral after the incident.

However, in a recorded interview played on Accra-based Asaase Radio on Monday, March 11, 2024, Apostle Kumah reacted to the prophecy, stating that Prophet Nigel Gaisie exploited their personal information for his own gain, just to gain popularity, despite being close to the family.

“We know him very well and have been aware since November 2023 that the late John Kumah was seriously sick. My husband had a lot of respect for men of God in this country and that included Nigel Gaisie when my husband and I thought he was a genuine man of God,” she explained.

In response to Apostle Kumah’s accusations, Prophet Nigel Gaisie addressed the issue in a live social media recording on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie noted that he is no mere stranger to the Kumah family as he used to pray for Apostle Lilian and for that reason, she used to call him Papa.

He recounted an instance where the Apostle allegedly called him “Man of God” instead of Papa as she normally did.

“I called her Apostle and she called me Man of God. I told her today you are calling me Man of God. You used to call me Papa and I am your Papa. I know I don’t impose Papa on anybody but you’ve never called me Man of God,” he said.

According to him, he was surprised since he anointed her.

“Because Man of God is someone you don’t really know but you are somebody who has knelt down before me and I have poured oil on you several times. So I realized that she was trying to be rude with her gestures. She was still on the phone. If Apostle Lilian really has the Holy Ghost and she reads the Bible I read, which is the Bible of Jacob, Isaac she cannot tell me she didn’t meet me at Mövenpick,” he added.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie noted that it was during their brief encounter at Mövenpick in September that he informed her that he wanted to speak to the late John Kumah since he had a revelation about him.

“I told her at Mövenpick that I have a revelation about her husband and so she should let her husband call me or she should tell when I should call. You, that I thought you how to pray, tell me when I should call so that I give the revelation to your husband that was in September, I was going to renew your UK visa.

“Now Lily is telling people that they should ignore the prophesy and that they were my friends and I heard about it,” he noted.

He suggested that Apostle Kumah’s interview was an attempt to discredit his prophetic work, influenced by politicians who are not supportive of his ministry.

Don’t let politicians use you to destroy God’s work – Nigel Gaisie tells John Kumah’s wife

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the General Overseer of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, has advised Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah, not to allow herself to be manipulated by politicians to undermine the credibility of prophetic work.

“Nigel Gaisie was like a brother. He knows my late husband, lawyer John Kumah personally, one-on-one. We have sat in this house and eaten together several times.

“That is how far we go. When he came from abroad to start a church in Ghana, he came to my church, Disciples of Christ Ministries and I did a programme with him dubbed ‘Let the Prophet Speak.”

He stated that when he received the revelation about Dr. Kumah’s death, he tried to reach out to him but was denied access.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie claimed that Apostle Kumah did not make any effort to facilitate a meeting between him and her husband to discuss other aspects of the prophecy.

He suggested that Apostle Kumah’s interview was an attempt to discredit his prophetic work, influenced by politicians who are not supportive of his ministry.

  • My husband’s death must be investigated else none of my children will serve Ghana – John Kumah’s wife

My husband’s death must be investigated else none of my children will serve Ghana – John Kumah’s wife

Apostle Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, has declared that none of her children will serve Ghana if the controversies surrounding her husband’s death are scrutinized.

Mrs. Kumah strongly asserted that her husband, the Ejisu Member of Parliament (MP), succumbed to a terminal illness diagnosed by his doctors in Germany nearly a year ago, refuting speculations of food poisoning.

Despite her initial stance, she deems it necessary for the allegations to undergo investigation to bring closure to the matter, especially in light of the widespread claims made by broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart.

Expressing her disappointment, she questioned the credibility of someone making speculative claims under the guise of journalism, particularly when her husband had dedicated his life to serving the nation. In an interview with Accra-based Asaase radio, she stated, “No child of my womb will serve the country because it is very disappointing.”

Mrs. Kumah urged Captain Smart to substantiate his allegations with evidence for the sake of justice, appealing to the president to intervene.

She requested Captain Smart’s assistance in identifying those responsible for her husband’s death so that they could be apprehended and held accountable under the law.

“No child of my womb will serve the country because it is very disappointing. How can a guy who has dedicated his life to serve the nation, then someone in the name of journalism, cheap propaganda is speculating he has facts, why is the person still there?” she said in an interview with Accra-based Asaase radio.

“I am using this media to talk to the president. I beg him. Captain Smart says he knows who killed my husband. So Captain Smart should help us find who killed my husband so the person will be arrested and face the law,” she appealed.

“Matthew Opoku Prempeh did not kill John Kumah”; one NPP bigwig did – Prophet Badu Kobi alleges

Prominent Ghanaian spiritual leader, Prophet Badu Kobi, has joined the rumors surrounding the mysterious demise of John Kumah, shedding light on the matter during a sermon.

Addressing his congregation, Prophet Badu Kobi dismissed accusations against Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known popularly as Napo, asserting his lack of involvement in John Kumah’s unfortunate incident.

Prophet Kobi claimed there exists a rivalry between John Kumah and Napo for the vice presidential slot.

Instead, he claimed knowledge of the real perpetrator, teasing Ghanaians with the promise of a surprising revelation.

Revealing key details about the alleged culprit, Prophet Badu Kobi described the individual as a political figure within the NPP who viewed John Kumah’s political ascent as a threat.

Despite expressing a desire to disclose the identity of the suspected killer, the prophet expressed reservations, citing fear of potential repercussions from law enforcement authorities, particularly the IGP.

“I know the one who killed John Kumah, he is not Mathew Opoku Prempeh, he is innocent, I know the real culprit, but I can’t reveal for fear IGP Dampare will invite me to the police station. The He should use his own resources to identify the culprit,” Prophet Badu Kobi stated.

  • Your husband and I were not friends – Nigel Gaisie to John Kumah’s wife

Your husband and I were not friends – Nigel Gaisie to John Kumah’s wife

The founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has refuted allegations of friendship with the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah, during a Facebook live session on March 11, 2024.

Dismissing claims made by the widow of the deceased Deputy Minister for Finance, prophet Gaisie denied having a friendly relationship with John Kumah, asserting that Kumah was a son rather than a friend.

Addressing Lilian, the widow, prophet Gaisie emphasized that he did not maintain friendships due to his busy schedule, clarifying that Kumah was considered a son to him.

“The point is that the late John Kumah was not my friend; he was a son. I don’t have friends; I am too busy I don’t even know how to keep friends. I am always indoors. So the late John Kumah, a very honourable man, he was not my friend.

“So Lilian get it. You and your husband, you were my daughter, I poured oil on you. You have knelt before me and I have all the pictures, I have all the videos and if you dare say it is not true, I will just allow my media team to blow all these things on the internet,” he stated.

He warned Lilian against challenging his statement, citing photographic and video evidence of their interactions, including moments where she and her husband knelt before him.

After John Kumah’s death on March 7, 2024, videos surfaced of a prophecy issued by prophet Gaisie in December 2023, where he predicted a bright future for a deputy minister of finance facing potential attacks.

While not explicitly naming Kumah, prophet Gaisie later claimed that the prophecy referred to him and acknowledged the impending tragedy.

However, Lilian Kumah accused prophet Gaisie of using privileged information obtained as a close friend in his prophecy, branding him a fraud and false prophet.

“I saw a Deputy Minister of Finance, if he can take care of himself, I see him at the highest height of government, but they want to attack him.

“If he can take care of himself, in the next years, God will help him and I saw him at the seat of government, but they have ganged, they have sat down, they want to crash him, a deputy minister of finance,” he stated without mentioning a name.

During the Facebook live session, prophet Gaisie defended the authenticity of his prophecy, recounting the deterioration of his relationship with the Kumahs over a political prophecy.

In the midst of the controversy, autopsy reports revealed multiple myeloma as the cause of the MP’s death at the age of 45.

According to Lilian, her late husband had been diagnosed with this terminal condition, a fact known to Gaisie since August 2023, when he claimed the prophecy originated.

John Kumah returned from Germany just to attend the 6th March parade – Lilian Kumah

The wife of the late Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Ejisu, John Kumah, has revealed that her husband returned from Germany, where he was receiving treatment for a terminal illness, just to attend the 6th March parade in his constituency.

In an emotional interview with Asaase Radio, Mrs Lilian Kumah narrated how her husband ignored her pleas to rest, and instead chose to participate in the Independence Day celebration in Ejisu.

“He returned from Germany on the Sunday. Monday, he went to work, very strong and active. Tuesday, he went to parliament, but Tuesday, he realized that he was not that strong, but he returned all the way from Germany just to attend the 6th March so he was determined to be at Ejisu to be part of the 6th March. I tried everything to discourage him, but you know, once a soldier always a soldier, madly in love with his country and what he is doing so he left,” she said.

John Kumah’s unwavering commitment to his country was evident in this gesture. His wife shared the challenging events leading up to his unfortunate passing. She recounted driving to Kumasi on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, only to find him in critical condition on Thursday morning, as he was being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

“I think Wednesday, I called him, but his voice did not sound well on the phone, so I told him to try to get here (Accra) so he could return to Germany, but he was not in support of that idea. So, I decided to drive to Kumasi. I drove to Kumasi. Unfortunately, I arrived Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. My husband couldn’t move when I arrived. He was being put in an ambulance. So I left my car with my brothers and got into the ambulance,” she noted.

Despite an initial positive gesture from John, indicating control over the situation, the journey became increasingly challenging.

“He opened his eyes and gave me a thumbs up. He usually did that to let me know that he was in control, so I needn’t worry. Immediately, I felt relieved thinking that he was okay. But it got tough while we were on the road.”

At around 11, signs of relief turned into a medical emergency. His wife, a pastor, began fervently praying as medical professionals worked to stabilize him.

Mrs Kumah said, “So around 11, I realized that he showed a sign of relief. He could fly his fists in the air along with joy on his face. He had been sweating earlier, but he had stopped sweating. But I have a little medical background, so I looked at the screen of the machine connected to him and realized that things are dropping and they weren’t encouraging. I was with his doctor and some technicians in the ambulance. They were all trying to comport themselves, but as a pastor, I was just praying seriously trusting God to intervene.”

The ambulance, urgently diverted to the nearest hospital in Suhum, for extra help as his condition worsened. Despite prompt efforts by medical staff, the situation deteriorated. At 12:20 pm, the doctor delivered the heartbreaking news to John’s wife, confirming their best efforts had not been enough.

“Unfortunately, the doctor raised the alarm at 11:45 a.m that, we find a nearby hospital so he could rest and be given a CPU and constant oxygen supply for the meantime before continuing. He wants to stabilize him first. The nearest hospital was Suhum, so we took the route to that hospital. When we got there, they didn’t delay at all. They quickly brought the oxygen, doctors came out. Not long after, the doctor gathered courage and told me that, they did their best, but it got out of their hands,” she recounted.

In her disbelief, she insisted on bringing him back, holding onto hope for a miraculous recovery. As the reality set in, she expressed a lingering hope that the tragic news might be a nightmare, desperately clinging to the possibility of a miracle.

“This was around 12:20. They confirmed this at around 12:20 pm. The reason why I remember the time is because I said ei JK, this afternoon, at this hour… you can’t leave like that, but unfortunately, I was hoping that they were wrong. So I insisted that they bring him for I have faith in God that life would return to him body once more. As at now, I am still hoping that this is a nightmare, that I would be told that this is a prank or there would be a miracle. I am still hoping,” she added.

We are ever ready for Ejisu by-election – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its readiness to conduct a by-election for the Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti region following the passing of Member of Parliament, John Kumah.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Francis Abban, the Director for Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, stated that the Commission is prepared to organize the by-election as required.

“Article 112 of the Constitution says that when a vacancy occurs the Clerk of Parliament will inform the Electoral Commission seven days after the incident. When we are informed and it is an ordinary incident the Commission has thirty days but if it is a result of death we have sixty days to conduct a by-election.

“If the vacancy occurs less than three months to a General Election there will not be an election, so as far as the Commission is concerned and in our budget we always prepare for by-elections. So as and when we are informed officially we will kick start the process and we are ever ready,” Mr. Quaicoe explained.

Dr. John Kumah, who had been battling an undisclosed illness and sought treatment in Germany, returned to Ghana to ensure the passage of critical revenue measures in the 2024 budget after the minority threatened rejection.

His sudden demise has deeply affected Parliament, with Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Atiwa East, Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare, breaking down upon hearing the news.

John Kumah used the military to grab lands from Ejisu residents – Computer Man alleges

Prophet Nana Akwesi Amponsah, also known as Computer Man, founder and head pastor of Hope Generation Ministries International, has alleged that the land housing the Disciple of Christ Ministries Worldwide, founded by the late John Kumah’s wife, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, was acquired illegally.

According to him, the piece of land was forcefully taken from mechanics for the benefit of the deceased MP’s wife. He claimed that over 40 military officers were brought in, allegedly on the orders of the late John Kumah, to intimidate the workers.

“Where John Kumah’s wife’s church is located, it used to be a working space for mechanics. We were one day and all of a sudden, these mechanics were running. Some were injured. Some had been beaten. Over 40 soldiers were brought in.”

“The boys came to inform me so I called John Kumah. But when I called him, he told me he was busy,” he said.

Computer Man noted that he called President Akufo-Addo to have a word with the deceased MP to restore calm.

“So I called Peace FM to intervene otherwise things would escalate I also called the president to speak to John Kumah because even if there are issues with land documentation, you cannot use brute force to intimidate,” he said.

Computer Man known to be a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) also alleged that he fell victim to the actions of John Kumah.

According to Prophet Nana Akwesi Amponsah, John Kumah reportedly sent some military officers to confiscate his own land.

“I was heading to Kumasi, I was at Konongo then my security personnel called me. He said some 19 soldiers are on your land. They have placed sand and blocks and are building. I asked why, he said John Kumah and his wife have bought the land. My own land that I have had for close to 20 years. Who doesn’t know it is mine.”

He recounted, “I called John Kumah and he said it wasn’t him. We are all in the NPP so this can’t happen.. So I asked the security man to go and check it out. He told me John Kumah’s wife was on the land.”

“I spoke to her and she said okay. I thought that would be it, the following morning, they kept working. I called the Police, Kofi, the president’s nephew and told him he should tell him this is what John Kumah has done to his boy, Kwasi Amponsah.”

According to him, President Akufo-Addo reached out and sent a team that found out that John Kumah was behind the initiative.

“The President got in touch with John Kumah and he denied the claims. The president sent some people and they found out that it was John Kumah and he told him that he doesn’t like that.”

Prior to John Kumah’s death, an elderly woman, believed to be in her late 50s, screaming and labelling the late deputy minister a thief.

She alleged that John Kumah acquired her land under the pretence of a government project, but instead, he is allegedly using it for his private business.

The visibly upset woman passionately demanded the return of her land, expressing her outrage and determination to expose the deputy minister’s actions.

But John Kumah refuted this claim.

In a statement shared by The Chronicles, he wrote, “I would like to refute these baseless claims and set the record straight, regarding the true events surrounding the acquisition and use of the said land.

As many of you are aware, during my campaign to become the MP for Ejisu, I made a solemn promise to the people that I would establish an asphaltic plant to address the road deficiencies in the constituency.

To realize this vision and create job opportunities, the ‘EJISU Club 100’ was established to collaborate with Sogood Engineering and Construction Company to undertake this project, among several others.

In the pursuit of fulfilling this commitment, I approached my family chief, Nana Kofi Agyei, for a piece of land for the construction of the asphaltic plant.

Nana Kofi Agyei gifted me the land in the presence of other family members, after the Aseda custom were done.

The intention behind this gift was never for personal gain, but to help uplift the community and improve the lives of its residents through job creation and enhanced infrastructure.

The progress of the asphaltic plant construction, which has reached an impressive 90% completion stage, stands as a testament to my unwavering dedication to fulfilling the promises made to my constituents during my campaign.

Regrettably, it has come to my attention that a few members of the family are expressing discontent over the gift of the land by the family chief.  A land they have no claim to.

I acknowledge their right to have differing opinion but strongly oppose their unwarranted insults and attacks directed at me and wrongly claiming that I have forcefully taken over their lands.

In a response to the claims, I have already taken the necessary steps by reporting the matter to the Ejisu Police Service for the arrest of the individuals involved.

I have also notified the family chief about the very distasteful actions of the individuals involved, for the necessary customary actions to be taken against them.

As is evident in the video, there are no private houses built on the land but rather heavy duty vehicles and quarters for workers working on the asphaltic plant, as well as equipment for the asphaltic plants among several others.

It is very disheartening that in my quest to address a major challenge in the constituency, I have rather been attacked and vilified for an act I have not taken.

I would like to urge the public to disregard the content of the video and I admonish the media against further spreading its defamatory content or face legal action.”

Prophet Nana Akwesi Amponsah, also known as Computer Man, who is a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has recounted the number of times he reached out to President Akufo-Addo to settle a land dispute between himself and the late Ejisu MP, the late John Kumah.

The founder and head pastor of Hope Generation Ministries International, during an interview on Oman Channel, noted that his land was nearly taken away from him after the late John Kumah and his wife, Lilian Kumah, reportedly sent military officers to cease his land and see to the commencement of construction work.

Nigel Gaisie was on my husband’s payroll – John Kumah’s wife claims

The widow of the late Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. John Kumah, has disclosed that Prophet Nigel Gaisie was on her husband’s payroll.

Her husband, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, disclosed how she cherished and respected men of God and hence used private information about her husband’s illness to make a false prophecy about the death of another deputy minister in 2024.

“My husband has a special place for pastors. He doesn’t joke with men of God. We know him very well and have been aware since November 2023 that the late John Kumah was seriously sick. My husband had a lot of respect for men of God in this country, and that included Nigel Gaisie.

He was even one of the people on his payroll. Thus, when my husband and I thought he was a genuine man of God,” she revealed during an interview with Asaaseradio on Monday, March 11, 2024.

However, Apostle Lilian Kumah shared that her family severed ties with Nigel Gaisie after learning that he had misused information they had voluntarily provided to him.

The family had informed Gaisie about the late John Kumah’s serious illness in November 2023, and despite this knowledge, Mr Gaisie went on to make the false prophecy during his watchnight service on December 31, 2023.

“We know him very well and have been aware since November 2023 that the late John Kumah was seriously sick. My husband had a lot of respect for men of God in this country, and that included Nigel Gaisie when my husband and I thought he was a genuine man of God.

Describing the previous relationship they had with Gaisie, she mentioned that they used to share meals and that Mr Gaisie used to visit her church, Disciples of Christ Ministries.

You can’t discredit me – Prophet Nigel tells John Kumah’s wife

Prophet Nigel Gaisie remains resolute in his claim that he foresaw the tragic event that befell the late Deputy Minister of Finance, John Kumah.

Undeterred by criticism, prophet Gaisie addressed the accusations leveled against him during a Facebook live session on Monday, March 11.

In the video, he dismissed allegations attempting to tarnish his reputation, asserting, “The only thing they can say is that we prophets are womanizers, it is normal if you know we don’t really have time. I am too busy for this thing. It is the agenda of the NPP to destroy prophets. You can’t discredit Prophet Nigel.”

Emphasizing the validity of his prophecy, Gaisie stated, “Indeed I saw it [death],” cautioning the public not to dismiss prophetic messages lightly.

These statements come in response to Apostle Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late John Kumah, who refuted prophet Gaisie’s prophecy.

In an interview with Asaase Radio on Sunday, March 10, she revealed a personal connection between her family and the prophet.

Lilian Kumah argued that Mr Gaisie was well aware of John Kumah’s health condition since November 2023, questioning the authenticity of the prophecy.

“Nigel Gaisie was like a brother. He knows my late husband, lawyer John Kumah personally, one-on-one. We have sat in this house and eaten together several times. That is how far we go. When he came from abroad to start a church in Ghana, he came to my church, Disciples of Christ Ministries and I did a programme with him dubbed “Let the Prophet Speak”.

“We know him very well and have been aware since November 2023 that the late John Kumah was seriously sick. My husband had a lot of respect for men of Ghana in this country and that included Nigel Gaisie when my husband and I thought he was a genuine man of God,” Apostle Lilian Kumah stated.

“Nigel Gaisie knew very well that my husband was terminally ill as far back as August 2023 but regardless of that, he stood on his altar on 31st December 2023 to lie through his supposed prophesy that a Ghanaian deputy minister will die in the year 2024.

“What does he want to achieve through these fake prophesies?” John Kumah’s widow further stated.

John Kumah, the 45-year-old lawmaker for Ejisu, passed away on Thursday, March 7, leaving behind a wife and six children.

The controversy surrounding Mr Gaisie’s prophecy has ignited debates about the credibility of such predictions and their impact on individuals and families.

Not all Ejisu residents are in a state of mourning following the demise of its representative in Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr John Kumah.

According to the founder and head pastor of Hope Generation Min. Int., Prophet Nana Akwesi Amponsah also known as Computer Man, some residents are elated that the legislator is no more.

In an interview on Oman Channel, Computer Man noted that this is due to the many alleged injustices some residents faced under the hands of the late John Kumah.

“After John Kumah’s death, if you see the messages, they are bad. They say he came to take someone’s lands, God is punishing him. Just a few Ejisu residents are sad about his death. It looks like the majority are jubilating,” he said.

Dr. Kumah, who also served as the Deputy Finance Minister, tragically passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

Following this, residents were seen shedding tears, dressed in somber red and black attire as they mourned the loss of their beloved representative.

Lands were ‘stolen’ from mechanics for John Kumah’s wife to set up her church – Computer Man alleges

Founder & head pastor of Hope Generation Min. Int., Prophet Nana Akwesi Amponsah, also known as Computer Man, has made a startling revelation following the death of MP for Ejisu and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr John Kumah.

In an interview on Oman Channel, Computer Man, noted that the land hosting, Disciple of Christ Ministries Worldwide, the church founded by the late John Kumah’s wife, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, was acquired illegally.

According to him, the piece of land was forcefully taken away from mechanics for the deceased’s MP wife. He alleged that over 40 military officers were brought in to intimidate the workers.

  • You can’t break the eight by poisoning your own members – Prophet Oduro to NPP

The aftermath of the untimely passing of former Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah led to the leader of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, sharing insights on the alleged poisoning and condemned the use of violence for political gain.

During a Sunday sermon, Prophet Oduro emphasized that power should not be sought through brutal acts like killing, asserting that leaders are appointed by God.

Expressing concern about the political landscape, he questioned the wisdom of resorting to such extreme measures for power, reminding his congregation that the outcome of elections is ultimately in God’s hands.

“A nation that is 67 years is ready to poison people to death. What are they looking for? Power. How sure are you about that power. Who said NPP will win the next election? It is God who makes leaders.

“You are already killing people’s fathers and their husbands? Look at the pain you have caused this young lady pastor. The wife of the MP is a woman of God. You went to touch the anointed of the Lord when the Bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm,” Prophet Oduro stated.

The prophet drew attention to the broader repercussions of political violence in Ghana, citing economic difficulties and developmental setbacks as consequences of past incidents, including the deaths of politicians such as J.B. Danquah Adu and J.B. Danquah senior.

Prophet Oduro also empathised with the family of the deceased, highlighting the pain inflicted on the wife, who he described as a woman of God.

He urged unity and an end to the cycle of violence that has plagued the nation’s political landscape.

Meanwhile, the late John Kumah’s wife, Lilian Kumah, has vehemently denied rumours of poisoning.

In an interview with Asaase radio, she expressed frustration with baseless claims and called for accountability, particularly in response to statements made by Captain Smart alleging foul play in her husband’s death.

“Why is it that someone has been this bold to claim that he knows for a fact that a person like John Kumah who has serviced his country virtually all his life, was poisoned, while he was working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why should we sit down and not bring that person to book.

“If it is true that a person who is not dead but alive claims that he knows how my husband (John Kumah) died and that he was poisoned, and that person is still moving around for the past three weeks, it hurts me, it saddens me and I do not know how best to express my frustrations about these false claims by Captain Smart,” she told Accra-based Asaase radio in an interview.”

John Kumah, who served his country for many years, passed away at the age of 45 on Thursday, March 7, leaving behind a grieving wife and six children.

  • I met my husband in 2005 right after SHS, it was love at first sight – Lilian Kumah

I met my husband in 2005 right after SHS, it was love at first sight – Lilian Kumah

Apostle Mrs Lilian Kumah, widow of the late Dr. John Kumah has shared a captivating revelation during an exclusive interview with Asaase Radio, recounting the fateful meeting that sparked a love story lasting nearly two decades.

Lilian recounted the chance encounter that laid the foundation for her enduring relationship with ‘Johnny’. Both navigating the early stages of their careers, they crossed paths in the bustling streets of Accra.

In 2005, shortly after completing Senior High School (SHS), Lilian Kumah crossed paths with her late husband on Mallam Road, on her way to—a moment that would shape her life forever.

“I met Johnny somewhere in 2005. I had just completed SHS. We met in Accra, specifically Mallam Road. I was on my way to work. An SHS student who was working,” she said.

Lilian recollected, “I had dropped my money, and he, a recent university graduate also on his way to work, gallantly retrieved it from the gutter for me. So after that, I thanked him.”

A simple act of kindness led to a conversation that changed everything.

As if scripted, their connection deepened over plantain chips. Johnny requested some, and Lilian, with all the money she had, shared her snack. Their brief exchange sparked something more profound.

“I then bought some plantain chips, and then he asked me to buy some for him. I told him that was all the money I had on me, and so I offered him some of what I had bought.”

Lilian, then hustling in Accra, directed Johnny to a friend’s residence when he inquired about where she lived.

“And then he asked for my name and where I lived. At the time, I was hustling in Accra, so I did not really have a place that I was living. So I directed him to a friend’s home,” she mentioned.

The following Sunday, Johnny surprised Lilian by visiting her friend’s home. Clutching his Bible under his arm, he explained that he wanted to say hello after church. Their friendship blossomed, and Johnny made his intentions clear: he was going far, and Lilian was part of his journey.

Exactly one year after their initial meeting, they exchanged vows. Their love story defied convention—no elaborate courtship, no grand gestures. It was love at first sight, a quiet knowing that transcended time. Johnny became Lilian’s mentor, her teacher, and her unwavering companion.

“Then that Sunday, I saw him come to my friend’s place, with his bible under his armpit. He said he wanted to just come and say hi after he had closed from church. And that is how our friendship began. Immediately, he made me understand that he [will be] going far, and he really meant business with me. Not long after, exactly one year after our meeting, we got married. We have been together for almost 18 years,” she narrated.

Their bond endured through thick and thin, long before Johnny stepped onto the political stage. His passion for politics had roots in his school days, but their love story was more profound. Together for nearly 18 years, they weathered life’s storms, their commitment unyielding.

Lilian affectionately revealed, “It was love at first sight. He has been my mentor and my teacher, and we have been together, both good and bad times, even way before he became an active politician. He had been a politician from school days, but actively … We were together when he had his first appointment, from Hon Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, so that is how we began. We have been together since, until this unfortunate, Thursday.”

The unfolding of Lilian Kumah’s narrative paints a picture of a love story that defied odds, originating from a chance encounter on the streets of Accra and evolving into a lasting partnership of nearly two decades.

Lilian Kumah lost her husband John Kumah on March 7th, 2023. He had six children with her.

Shut up, stay in the room and mourn John Kumah – ASEPA boss tells widow

Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson, has strongly criticized Apostle Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, for her recent statements regarding her husband’s passing.

In an interview with Asaase Radio, Mrs. Kumah refuted claims suggesting her husband died of food poisoning, stating instead that he had been battling a terminal illness for almost a year, as diagnosed by doctors in Germany.

On Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily, Mensah Thompson expressed disapproval of Mrs. Kumah’s decision to discuss the details of her husband’s passing. He urged her to refrain from further comments and focus on mourning her husband.

Mr Thompson emphasized the inappropriateness of Mrs. Kumah’s engagement in discussions about the cause of her husband’s death.

He advised her to leave the investigation to professionals who would conduct an autopsy, stating that making claims about the cause of death is not within the widow’s purview.

    Lilian Kumah

“I will plead with the wife to shut up and mourn her husband. And, in fact, as we speak, John Kumah’s wife is on Asaase radio granting an interview claiming that her husband was not poisoned. But is that what your focus should be as a widow?” he quizzed.

Highlighting cultural norms in Ashanti tradition, Thompson pointed out that widows are expected to observe a period of mourning, refraining from making public statements about the cause of their spouse’s death.

“In Ashanti culture, you can’t even come out, in our traditional culture, when you lose your husband, you can’t even come out for a certain amount of time.

“You are supposed to be in the room and mourn. Whatever people are claiming killed or didn’t kill your husband is not up to you. That is why there are professionals who will do an autopsy and that is none of your business. People can claim whatever they want to claim, but focus on mourning your husband,” he said.

  • Why is Captain Smart freely walking about with false claims about my husband’s death? – John Kumah’s wife quizzes

Apostle Mrs Lilian Kumah, wife of the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, is questioning why Captain Smart is making false claims about her husband’s death and hasn’t faced any consequences for doing so.

During a live TV programme, Captain Smart claimed that the Deputy Finance Minister, who died on Thursday, March 7, 2024, had been severely affected by food poisoning.

But the wife of the deceased has debunked poisoning rumors surrounding his husband’s death, clarifying that her late husband had been battling with a terminal disease for nearly a year now since it was discovered by his doctors in Germany.

According to her that is what her husband succumbed to on Thursday, 7 March 2024, and not food poisoning.

Thus she is upset and wishes the authorities will take legal actions against Captain Smart for wrongly fueling Ghanaians with poisoning rumors as cause of John Kumah’s death.

“Why is it that someone (referring to Captain Smart) has been this bold to claim that he knows for a fact that a person like John Kumah who has serviced his country virtually all his life, was poisoned, while he was working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why should we sit down and not bring that person to book.

Widow of the late Deputy Minister of Finance, John Kumah, has dismissed claims that her husband’s demise was due to food poisoning.

She clarified that John Kumah had fought a severe illness for more than a year.

As General Overseer of Disciples of Christ Ministries, Apostle Lilian Kumah voiced her anguish over the rumors surrounding her husband’s passing, urging people to refrain from spreading baseless allegations.

She revealed that John Kumah had battled a terminal illness for nearly a year, a condition first diagnosed by doctors in Germany.

“My husband went through pain but he never showed that he was in pain. He went through all the pain to do everything he needed to do during the period of his ill-health.

“He was motivated by a particular motto that he always operated by, which is, we don’t do what is convenient, we do what we are commanded to do.

“Right from day one since he was diagnosed in Germany, I have been part of the medical processes my husband went through, and no one, none of the doctors ever told me that my husband’s medical situation was because of poisoning.

“I have all the medical reports both from Germany and Ghana and food poisoning has never been mentioned in any of the reports,” citinewsroom.com quoted her to have said in an Interview with Asaase FM.

Mrs. Lilian Kumah revealed in an interview with Asaase News that Nigel Gaisie had access to detailed information about the health of the late deputy finance minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu constituency because of his close relationship with their family.

She further mentioned that her family chose to sever ties with Nigel Gaisie upon learning that he had used the information they provided him with to make predictions of doom during his watch night service on December 31.

Contrary to earlier theories of poisoning, an alleged autopsy conducted by a certified pathologist, according to a GhanaWeb report, revealed that his death was attributed to multiple myeloma. This diagnosis sheds light on the importance of understanding this disease and its implications.

    What is Multiple myeloma

Multiple myeloma, also known as plasma cell myeloma, is a type of cancer that originates in the plasma cells—a specific type of white blood cell responsible for producing antibodies. These antibodies play a crucial role in our immune system, helping us fight infections and diseases.

    Symptoms

Initially, multiple myeloma may not exhibit noticeable symptoms. However, as the disease progresses, the following signs may emerge:

    1. Bone Pain: Patients often experience bone pain, especially in areas like the chest, spine, and ribs.
    2. Anemia: Abnormal plasma cells can outnumber healthy red blood cells, leading to fatigue, dizziness, and irritability.
    3. Kidney Dysfunction: Increased protein levels due to myeloma can harm the kidneys.
    4. Weakened Bones: The uncontrolled growth of plasma cells weakens bones, making them prone to fractures.
    5. Suppressed Immune Function: As healthy blood cells are crowded out, the immune system becomes compromised, increasing susceptibility to infections.

    Causes and Risk Factors

The exact cause of multiple myeloma remains unknown, but several factors increase the risk:

    • Family History: Individuals with affected family members are more prone to developing the condition.
    • Monoclonal Gammopathy of Unknown Significance (MGUS): A precursor condition that can progress to myeloma.
    • Gender and Age: More common in males and typically affects people over 50.
    • Ethnicity: African-Americans are at higher risk.
    • Overweight and Obesity: Slightly increases the risk.
    • Radiation Exposure: Past exposure to radiation may contribute.
    • Lowered Immunity: HIV infection or immunosuppressant use.

    Diagnosis and Treatment

Diagnosing multiple myeloma involves blood tests, imaging (such as X-rays and CT scans), and bone marrow biopsies. Treatment options include:

    1. Medication: Chemotherapy (e.g., Vincristine, Doxorubicin), targeted therapy (e.g., Bortezomib, Carfilzomib), and corticosteroids (e.g., Prednisone, Dexamethasone).
    2. Bone Marrow Transplantation: Replacing unhealthy bone marrow with a healthy one.
    3. Radiation Therapy: Shrinking cancerous cells using high-energy beams.
    4. Balanced Diet: Patients should focus on fiber-rich foods, iron sources, and avoid infection-prone foods.

Multiple myeloma is a complex disease that affects plasma cells, bone health, and overall well-being. John Kumah’s case underscores the importance of awareness, early diagnosis, and compassionate care for those battling this condition. Let us continue to learn, support, and advocate for better understanding and management of multiple myeloma.

“Dem dey fear” – Netizens troll NPP ‘gurus’ over water rejection at John Kumah’s funeral over poison fears

Social media users on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, are mocking the perceived fear of poisoning within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) after a viral video surfaced.

The video captures the party’s National Organizer, Nana Boakye, and other officials rejecting bottles of water offered at a funeral ceremony.

Following the recent passing of John Kumah, Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency, rumours circulated suggesting that both Kumah and Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, were poisoned after an event in Tamale.

These theories, along with claims of potential assassinations targeting NPP officials due to their political aspirations, lack evidence but have heightened tension within the party.

In the viral video, Nana Boakye and Justin Kodua, the General Secretary of the NPP, are seen refusing to accept water offered to them at a funeral ceremony.

The video has sparked ridicule online, with some users questioning the officials’ alleged fear of poisoning and daring them to accept the water.

The last time I saw John Kumah, he was not sick – Kwesi Pratt

Veteran journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has expressed his shock and disbelief over the death of John Kumah, the deputy finance minister and MP for Ejisu, who reportedly died on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 45.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo, Pratt said that he never saw Kumah unwell and that the last time he saw him, he was not sick and they had a good conversation.

“Our brother John Kumah’s death has shocked me. The reason is this. I never saw him unwell. The last time I saw him, he was not sick, and we had a good conversation. When I heard he had died, I could not believe it. I called the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah for clarification because I know he was good friends with John Kumah. He confirmed it. John Kumah is dead. I consoled him. All of us who know John Kumah have been hit by this,” Pratt said.

He added that he was even more disturbed by the rumours and allegations that Kumah was murdered by some unknown persons who poisoned him.

“As I was still pondering on his demise, suddenly I heard rumours claiming he was murdered. Ah! Where from that too? There is even a gentleman who has come out to say he knows who killed John Kumah. So if you know who killed him, why have you not reported it? Why have you not reported it to the police? You claim to know who killed him, but won’t go and report it to the police.

So what at all is this? So in Ghana, no prominent person can die without being murdered? All of them have to be deliberately killed? I don’t understand. Must we politicize death, too? It is quite embarrassing. This is not the first time. Recently we had some big people claiming Professor Mills was also murdered and insisted on publicising his autopsy report. It is the same thing happening now,” Pratt lamented.

The real reason behind John Kumah’s death has been questioned by some recent statements from Captain Smart, a TV presenter, and Oheneba Asiedu, a friend of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi.

A common theme running through these submissions on John Kumah’s death is the claim that Kumah and Wontumi were poisoned some months ago in Tamale by some people who wanted to eliminate them for political reasons.

Resurfaced video excerpts of Captain Smart on his Maakye show on Onua TV, alleging the intentional poisoning of the late John Kumah.

He also claimed that there were attempts to poison other important people, such as Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the former Majority Leader and MP for Suame; Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi, the MP for Asante-Akim North Constituency; and Chairman Wontumi, the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman.

However, these claims have been challenged by Kumah’s wife, Apostle Lilian Kumah, who has filed a complaint with the police and demanded evidence from Captain Smart to substantiate his allegations. She has also called for a thorough investigation into the cause of her husband’s death and urged the public to respect the family’s privacy and grief.

John Kumah was a lawyer and an entrepreneur who served as the first CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) before becoming the deputy finance minister and MP for Ejisu in 2021.

He was widely regarded as a man of integrity who championed job creation and youth development. He was also a preacher and a family man who left behind a wife and six children.

As Ghana grapples with this perplexing situation, one thing remains clear: John Kumah’s passing is shrouded in uncertainty. Was it natural causes or foul play? The nation awaits an answer.

IGP, this should be a wake-up call; allow the prophets – Nigel Gaisie after prophecy on John Kumah’s death

Following the passing of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, Prophet Nigel Gaisie of Prophetic Hill Chapel has urged Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare to reconsider the restriction on prophecies.

Gaisie argues that Kumah’s death should prompt law enforcement to acknowledge the significance of spiritual guidance in preventing potential harm.

During an interview on Okay FM on March 8, 2024, Gaisie disclosed that he had foreseen a looming threat involving the late minister but was constrained by the ban on prophecy from explicitly communicating it.

“Over the years, if I see something like that, I will just say it when I am preaching, but we have been advised about death prophecies, that we should try to reach out to the person.

“So, I asked one of my junior pastors, Pastor Godsway, to go to his house. He went there about three times, but unfortunately, on all those occasions, he didn’t meet him,” he explained.

He continued: “This must be a wake-up call to the IGP to allow the prophets to prophesy; this should be a wake-up call to the nation that spirituality works, life is spiritual, and God won’t do anything without revealing it to His servants.

“So, if you are a president, MP, or whoever it is, you are under the power of God, and God has selected some people as his men and women, so don’t joke with prophecy, don’t joke with dreams,” he warned.

John Kumah passed away at the Suhum Government Hospital on March 7.

Media personality and musician Abubakar Ahmed, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, disapproved of those mourning the death of the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, asserting that he was not beyond reproach.

Blakk Rasta asserts a connection between President Akufo-Addo’s alleged corrupt ways and those of his appointed officials.

Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, is demanding a thorough police investigation into allegations suggesting her husband’s demise resulted from food poisoning.

In an official complaint to the Ghana Police Service, she specifically called for a probe into the claims made by Mr. Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as “Captain Smart,” who asserted that the late Minister fell victim to food poisoning.

On February 21, 2024, Onua TV aired a video in which the presenter raised concerns about the Deputy Finance Minister suffering from the effects of food poisoning.

The allegations extended to other politicians, including Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The presenter also expressed worries about potential plots to harm or defame individuals with political, religious, and business interests, causing heightened anxiety among citizens and political stakeholders.

Outspoken media personality and musician Abubakar Ahmed, widely known as Blakk Rasta, has condemned the celebration of the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah.

Blakk Rasta asserts that the Finance Ministry, under Kumah’s oversight, bears blame in the economic challenges currently burdening the citizens of Ghana.

Expressing his vehement disapproval, Blakk Rasta asserted, “As far as I’m concerned, a dead hypocrite is still a hypocrite.”

The media personality is unwavering in his belief that there is nothing praiseworthy about John Kumah’s contributions to the nation’s financial landscape.

Blakk Rasta passionately called on fellow Ghanaians to reconsider supporting and commemorating someone whom he believes has played a role in exacerbating the financial hardships faced by the nation.

“Let’s not support someone who has caused us financial hardship. We deserve better as Ghanaians,” he declared.

Outspoken media personality and musician Abubakar Ahmed, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, has taken a bold stance, urging Ghanaians to refrain from eulogizing the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah.

According to Blakk Rasta, the late Deputy Finance Minister, does not deserve any positive attributes due to his alleged role in causing economic hardship during President Akufo-Addo’s leadership.

Blakk Rasta firmly asserts that John Kumah, who recently passed away, served as a tool of destruction for ordinary Ghanaians, contributing to their suffering under the administration.

Despite the potential discomfort for the late minister’s family, Blakk Rasta emphasised that the deeds of John Kumah cannot be overlooked, citing his impact on the financial difficulties faced by the people.

“I do not eulogize dead people who were not good people when they were alive. He is undeserving of praise, as he, under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, caused enough hardship. I am sorry to the family, but he caused financial hardship to Ghanaians,” Blakk Rasta stated firmly.

Despite the sorrow caused by his death, she finds solace in the fact that Dr. Kumah’s unexpected demise has not led to any accusations against his wife, Apostle Lillian Kumah.

“Things are becoming scary in the NPP”, take good care of yourselves” – Captain Smart ‘warns’ members

Presenter on Onua TV, Captain Smart has revealed additional information regarding the alleged poisoning incidents involving the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah.

Smart’s earlier reports, made in late February 2024, alleged that Kumah and other prominent members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were targeted in poisoning schemes at different times. These claims gained attention following Kumah’s death announcement on March 7.

In a subsequent statement on Onua FM (March 8), Smart reiterated his earlier assertions and provided two new significant details. He discussed the frequency of the attacks on the deceased and disclosed the identity of an individual with whom Kumah shared one of the poisoned meals.

“Things are becoming scary in the NPP, that is all I can say and it is important people take good care of themselves. Also, in this world, even if no one kills you, death will come your way at some point,” Smart stressed.

“John Kumah survived the first attempt in Greater Accra before he was attacked in the Northern Region and the Ashanti Region,” Smart disclosed before adding that Kumah shared one of the poisoned meals with the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Wontumi.

“The very food he ate was consumed by Wontumi too; I was looking at them,” the TV host added without mentioning which region he was referring to.

Wontumi, in his tribute to Kumah, recounted a moment when the deceased stood by his side during a health scare several months ago, which he believed would end his life.

A journalist from Wontumi FM has also extensively discussed how Wontumi and the late MP were allegedly “poisoned” during a meal of guinea fowl in Tamale last year while on an inter-party campaign stop.

Meanwhile, the widow of the MP has filed a complaint with the police, urging Smart to provide evidence for the claims made about the deceased’s health in February.

  • “If John Kumah had met Nigel Gaisie, he wouldn’t have died – Rev Owusu-Bempah

Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, is urging Ghanaians to reconsider the significance of prophets and prophecies in light of the recent passing of Ejisu Member of Parliament, John Ampontuah Kumah.

According to Rev. Owusu Bempah, it is undeniable that Nigel Gaisie, the founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, foretold of the potential danger surrounding the late MP.

He emphasised that the prophecy would have required the cooperation of the deceased and his family to prevent the incident—in this case, death.

“I heard you speaking to Prophet Nigel Gaisie earlier and what he said is right. In fact, he has said a lot and if Ghanaians and all of us will listen and take some lessons from it, it will help all of us because it is exactly what it is.

“Prophet Nigel Gaisie saw everything and went ahead to take some measures but unfortunately things didn’t turn out right because I believe that if he had the opportunity to meet with him (John Kumah), what happened wouldn’t have happened,” he told the host of Ade Akye Abia on Okay FM, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, on Friday, March 8, 2024.

Owusu-Bempah highlighted that, as a prophet, he has previously received similar prophecies regarding dignitaries, such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He noted that the cooperation of the vice president and his associates led to the prevention of any potential calamity.

He expressed concern that the police directive against ‘fear and panic’ prophecies obstructs the work of God’s prophets in assisting individuals who may be in danger of future events.

John Kumah was pronounced dead on Thursday, March 7, 2024, while being transported from Kumasi to Accra for medical attention in Germany due to an unknown condition.

Following his passing, a video from Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s December 2023 watch-night service resurfaced on social media. In the video, Gaisie made predictions about a certain Deputy Minister for Finance, suggesting that the minister could rise to the highest government position if he could overcome impending threats against him.

“I saw a Deputy Minister of Finance; if he can take care of himself, I see him at the highest level of government, but they want to attack him.

“If he can take care of himself in the next few years, God will help him and I saw him at the seat of government, but they have ganged, they have sat down, and they want to crash him, a deputy minister of finance,” Prophet Nigel Gaisie declared without mentioning a specific name.

At the time when the prophecy was made, Ghana had two deputy finance ministers, namely John Kumah and Abena Osei-Asare.

Following the passing of John Kumah, Nigel Gaisie posted a message on his Facebook and acknowledged in radio interviews that he was indeed referring to the late MP and Deputy Minister for Finance.

We visited his house, called him but later he blocked my number -Nigel Gaisie on John Kumah’s death prophecy

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, revealed that he tried to warn the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, about a vision he had concerning him.

Despite his efforts, Gaisie said Kumah blocked all attempts to reach out to him.

According to Gaisie, he received a vision about a potential threat to John Kumah’s life around April 2023. Worried for the minister’s safety, Gaisie sent his junior pastor to Kumah’s residence on multiple occasions, but they were unable to make contact each time.

“Over the years, if I see something like that, I will just say it when I am preaching, but we have been advised about death prophecies, that we should try to reach out to the person.

“So, I asked one of my junior pastors, Pastor Godsway, to go to his house; he went there about three times but unfortunately, on all those occasions, he didn’t meet him.

“Later, I had the prompt again and instructed him to go once more. He returned, reporting that the security man had informed him he wasn’t around and he spoke to the wife or something, so I wrote it down,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on March 8, 2024, Gaisie revealed that he tried to personally reach out to Kumah by calling him directly. However, he claimed that Kumah blocked his number.

“So, I spoke about it during the 31st night; I saw it but because of Dampare’s communique that said we should avoid death prophecies, I had to speak in innuendos and figurative expressions.

“And I used to have a relationship with him. In 2014/2015, he used to come to my church so I had his personal number, but just after 2017, when I saw a different revelation about his government, that God would bring John Mahama, he severed relations with me.

“When I sent my junior pastor and I didn’t hear from him, I tried to call, so when I called, there was a busy number and the next one was blocked, so I said okay at the end of the day. We reached out but they disrespected us,” he added.

Shortly after his demise, videos from a recent episode of Captain Smart’s show resurfaced on social media.

In these videos, the journalist alleged that the MP and several prominent members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been victims of food poisoning.

He specifically mentioned that the MP and NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, had suffered from food poisoning a few weeks prior.

According to reports from Asaaseradio.com, the late MP’s wife believes these claims by the journalist are baseless and are tarnishing the reputation of her husband and his family.

It is a mixed feeling of disbelief and shock. And this unfortunate news takes me back to some few months ago.

A radio presenter with Wontumi Radio, Oheneba Asiedu, has stated that the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako(Chairman Wontumi), consumed a significant portion of the poisoned guinea fowl meat (akomfem), unlike the late deputy finance Minister, John Kumah.

Oheneba Aseidu who is  a close associate of Chairman Wontumi, explained that Wontumi ended up eating the majority of the meat as a result of hunger.

According to him, Wontumi, John Kumah and others were in Tamale to support Vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.

Oheneba Asiedu, a close associate of the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi, has claimed that Wontumi fell victim to food poisoning at Mariam Hotel in Tamale, as a result of  hunger.

He asserted that a stranger offered the poisoned guinea fowl meat, known as ‘akonfem,’ to John Kumah and Wontumi with the intention of harming the latter.

According to Aseidu, they were in Tamale to support Bawumia but returned late, leading Wontumi to consume a portion of the poisoned guinea fowl meat, unlike John Kumah.

Poisoned ‘Akomfem’: Blow-by-blow account of how John Kumah, Chairman Wontumi were allegedly poisoned

The morning show host of Wontumi Tv and Radio, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, has corroborated reports by his colleague in the media space, Captain Smart, that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi and the late Deputy Finance Minister Dr John Kumah were poisoned.

In an interview on Wontumi Radio, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, alleged that the duo were poisoned on October 22, 2023, at Tamale, and not Kumasi as earlier reported by Captain Smart, where some NPP members had gathered to aid the campaign of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“It didn’t happen in Kumasi but Tamale. We were in Tamale, me, Chairman Wontumi, John Kumah and my own brother and one of Chairman Wontumi’s boys, Kwabena Marfo,” he first clarified.

According to him, the team was to move from Tamale to Walewale but due to some delays, they had to return to Tamale. Oheneba noted that he stopped his work to join Chairman Wontumi in Tamale whereas John Kumah moved from Accra to Tamale.

“We returned from the campaign and were to move from Tamale and go to Walewale and move to the North East. But that night, there was a delay with the campaign team because of politics. So we had to come back to Tamale to sleep there.

“Originally, sister Afia was to go with Chairman Wontumi but she couldn’t
I don’t know what came on me but I said no, I don’t think Chairman should go to Tamale alone. So I halted my work to go with him. I called Marfo to go with us and he told us he would get back in the evening

John Kumah came from Accra to Tamale. I met Chairman Wontumi at 4am at Asokwa. Marfo came late but we waited for him,” he recounted.

He revealed he had the urge to make some alterations to the rooms they stayed in and what they ate.

“When we got to Tamale, I don’t know what came over me. When we handling the reservation, I switched the room meant for me to Chairman and I made Marfo take Chairman’s room. And I slept in a room for Marfo.

“When it is time for food, I use my name and go for food and bring it to Chairman Wontumi. I take Chairman’s food for Marfo then I take Margo’s food.”

On October 22, 2023, he said they planned to leave Tamale but could not.

“We kept long during our rounds. The original plan was to leave Tamale and sleep at Walewale but we couldn’t.”

This unexpected event he said prevented them from making preparations ahead and had to resolve to the last minute decision taken.

Oheneba stated that he and one Marfo lodged at a different hotel while Chairman Wontumi and John Kumah slept in another, however, still in Tamale.

He narrated, “Because we were leaving, the hotel arrangement was not the best and they told us that Marfo and I should go sleep at Modern Hotel in Tamale so Chairman and John Kumah sleep Marial in Tamale but it were all at the same place.

“John Kumah came alone to meet us at Tamale. Chairman’s room number was 32 and John Kumah’s was 31.”

According to him, upon arrival, Chairman Wontumi and John Kumah were provided the meat of a Guinea fowl.

“When they got to the hotel, someone brought Guinea fowl meat. Only Chairman and John Kumah. It was killed so you can eat.”

He noted that due to the pressure during campaigns, politicians sometimes skip some meals.

“They had not eaten, so they ate it. Under normal circumstances, we all sit and eat together. But because we didn’t know that we would sleep, they couldn’t make enough preparation for us all to eat together. So the Akofem was just for Chairman and John Kumah.

That was when the issue started. They finished eating and went to bed,” he said.

Oheneba noted that on October 23, he woke up at dawn to see 15 missed calls from Chairman Wontumi. He then proceeded to his place to find out the issue after failing to reach him via phone.

“I woke up around 1 am check on what Chairman would wear. I had seen Chairman’s calls about 15 of them. I tried calling. I asked Marfo if he had gotten calls from Chairman. He saw 2 missed calls and tried reaching Chairman but no response. So I went to Chairman’s place.”

He noted that Chairman Wontumi is not one who delays in answering his door.

“I knocked for about 3 to 5 minutes before he came to open the door. When Chairman opened the door, he was just in boxers. You could tell he had crawled and opened the door. He had thrown up on his bed and the ground. He had vomited in the washroom.”

He then went to see John Kumah, who then told him “Chairman ate more of the meat because he was hungry.”

“I just ate a little. John Kumah told me this. So I have thrown up so it’s not like Chairman’s. I had not seen chairman like that ever on that October 23,” he said.

Oheneba said he reached out to a member of Dr Bawumia’s team who got some members of the Vice President’s medical team to assist.

“I called Kamar, he is part of Bawumia’s team. So he called someone. So a top doctor of Bawumia and two other nurses came.

Instantly, they placed about 7 drips of water on Chairman and injected him,” he said, adding that “I heard the doctor say they suspect food poisoning and so they are going to treat them on food poisoning.”

According to him, John Kumah felt he was okay and so he was not treated. “It was only Chairman who was treated. John Kumah’s reaction was not like Chairman’s,” he reiterated.

But it took the next day for John Kumah to call for assistance as he saw his condition worsen.

“So it was in the evening, around 11pm that he called saying we should allow his driver come to him that he is not well. But he had spoken to his doctor who told him the drugs to get. So we got the drugs

“The John Kumah that I know, from that day till he passed, I’ve never seen him as how he used to be, well and fit,” he added.
