  • Kasoa ritual murder trial: Second accused denies plotting to kill 10-year-old Ishmael

Kasoa ritual murder trial: Second accused denies plotting to kill 10-year-old Ishmael

At the High Court in Accra, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, the 18-year-old teenager, who stands charged alongside a 15-year-old juvenile for the murder of Ishmael Mensah Abdallah, has asserted, “I do not know anything about the death.”

These two individuals are facing charges of conspiracy and murder in connection with the tragic death of 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdallah.

During the court proceedings on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the 18-year-old juvenile, serving as the second accused, commenced his defense in the ongoing trial subsequent to the closure of the first accused’s case.

Under the guidance of his legal representative, the 18-year-old presented his Evidence-in-Chief to the Court. He refuted the allegations leveled against him, particularly contesting the assertion made by the 15-year-old juvenile, who serves as the first accused.

The first accused admitted to the offense and claimed that they “committed the crime together.”

However, the 18-year-old denied the veracity of this statement, asserting that the account provided by the 15-year-old was false, particularly regarding any alleged planning of the death of 10-year-old Ishmael.

“When the first accused spent the night in my house, we did not plan the death of Ishmael,” he told the Court on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

“On Friday, (April 2, 2021), when the first accused came to my house, I asked him where he was coming from and he told me that he went to work with his father around Subum near Nsawam.

“I asked him where his father was and he told me that his father had left earlier to the house,” he narrated to the Court.

He added, “I also asked him if he had been home and he told me that when he went home, he saw that the door had been locked so he decided to spend the night in my house because I was home alone that day.”

“When he spent the night in my house, we did not discuss anything in relation to going to any place and on that day, he (15-year-old) did not speak to anyone on phone when he was in my house,” he told the jury.

“I told him the coming Monday, (April 5, 2021), I would want to visit my hometown. He told me he’d like to come along with me to my home town because he had heard that there’s a lot of black magic there.

“The first accused (15-year-old juvenile) also told me that he had won a lottery and that he had GHc500 on his phone that day.

“I told him that I was feeling sleepy and I wanted to go to sleep. I turned off the light and we both slept,” he told the Court.

Asked by his Counsel to tell the Court what happened the next day, the 2nd Accused offered explanation.

“My lady on Saturday, April 3, 2021, when I and the first accused woke up,  I told him to wash his face and start heading home since his father might be looking for him.

“After he freshened up, he left. The first accused left my house at about 5am to 6am.

“I went to brush my teeth and that is when my grandfather asked me to warm the farm so I and my siblings can eat.

“I lit up the fire and was about to warm the food when I saw Mr Nyarko father asked how I was doing,” he narrated to the Court.

“I said I was fine, he proceeded to tell me that he had some work to do and would like me to assist him to do that. I asked him where his son, 1st Accused was and he told me that 1st Accused wasn’t feeling well so he could not assist him.

“I asked his (1st accused) father if he was aware that his son slept over in my house on Friday,” but said, “the first accused father told me that his son did not tell him that but rather he told him that he slept in an uncompleted building close to their house,” he stated.

The case has been adjourned to February 8, 2024.

Former Second Lady, Matilda Amissah-Arthur, attacked by robbers – Report

In December 2023, the residence of the former Second Lady of Ghana, Matilda Amissah-Arthur, reportedly witnessed a troubling incident.

Despite the considerable police presence, an armed robber managed to breach security measures.

Under the cover of night, a masked and armed assailant infiltrated the Tesano house in Accra.

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur, widow of the late ex-Vice President Kwasi Amissah-Arthur, was confronted by the lone robber, who seized her neck and demanded money and jewelry.

In response to the threat, the former Second Lady handed over an estimated US$3000 to the assailant, who promptly fled the scene, allowing her to secure her freedom.

The apprehended perpetrator is currently in police custody, although the Ghana Police Service has maintained silence on the matter, leaving the nature of the security breach in question.

Sources from the Police Headquarters disclose that the arrested individual has faced the scrutiny of the top hierarchy of the police service. Notably, the victim’s identity, Matilda Amissah-Arthur, was obscured in official communications, with references to her as “Mrs. Atta.”

Despite the arrest, the case is being deliberately kept low-profile, triggering speculation, especially considering the extensive security network surrounding the residence.

Queries arise regarding how the armed robber, suspected to have an accomplice, successfully infiltrated the former Second Lady’s house.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Matilda Amissah-Arthur had temporarily vacated her residence for medical reasons. Security sources suggest that the escalating insecurity in the country is affecting even the elite, whose homes boast advanced security measures.

The Ghana Police Service’s decision to maintain silence on the matter raises suspicions given the circumstances. Family sources are urgently calling on the Ghana Police Service, the National Security Agency, and the Ministry of Interior to provide an update on the unfortunate incident.

Upon closer examination, it became apparent that the same modus operandi had been employed in some other high-profile officials’ residences in Accra, though the police have chosen to remain silent on the matter. Despite the presence of police officers on duty during the robbery attack, the circumstances surrounding the breach remain veiled in mystery.

In a horrifying incident that has shocked the nation, the dismembered remains of 20-year-old student Rita Waeni were discovered in rubbish bags at a rental apartment in Nairobi on January 14.

Missing her head, phone, and personal items, the gruesome nature of the murder has raised concerns about violence against women.

Two Nigerian men, William Ovie Opia and Johnbull Asbor, have been arrested in connection with the crime. While the police have not yet charged them, they sought permission to keep the suspects in custody until January 31 to continue their investigations, a request granted by a magistrate.

For the third time in eight years, Gregory Afoko, the farmer accused of murdering former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Adams Mahama, has pleaded not guilty to conspiring with convict Asabke Alangdi in the killing of the NPP Upper East Regional Chairman.

Mr Alangdi, already convicted for conspiracy, also pleaded not guilty to murder.

Kasoa: 10-year-old boy killed by friends for ritual was buried alive – Pathologist tells Court

In a shocking revelation at the High Court in Accra, Pathologist Dr. Osei Owusu-Afriyie from the Ghana Police Hospital testified that 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdullah, killed in Kasoa for alleged money rituals, was buried alive.

According to the pathologist, the victim died from a “severe head injury from blunt trauma,” and the cause of death was “asphyxiation (inability to breathe).”

Witness Testimony in Kasoa Ritual Killing Trial Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr. Osei Owusu-Afriyie, serving as the 7th Prosecution Witness in the trial, detailed the findings of his post-mortem examination on Ishmael Mensah Abdullah.

The witness revealed significant injuries, including a massive external swelling on the right side of the head, fractures in the right side’s bones, bleeding, and swelling over the right side of the brain.

The pathologist emphasized that Ishmael was buried alive, as the “blueing” of the body and hyper-inflated lungs indicated he was not dead at the time of burial.

Two adolescents, a 15-year-old juvenile and an 18-year-old young offender, both unnamed, are facing charges in connection with the death of Abdullah, who is reported to be their acquaintance.

While the 15-year-old confessed to the offense during the plea-taking process, the court, following legal requirements, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf, leaving the final decision to be determined by the jury during the full trial.

Conversely, the 18-year-old, jointly charged with the 15-year-old for conspiracy to commit murder, consistently denied the allegations.

    Evidence-in-Chief

During his testimony led by Senior State Attorney Dorcas Felli, the witness asserted, “I concluded that he had a severe head injury from blunt trauma.”

“My lady, the significant findings are massive swollen on the right side of the neck and right side of the head with fracture of the bones on the right side of the head, with blood and swelling over the right side of the brain. My lady, there were also hyper-inflated lungs and ‘blueing’ of the body.

“My lady, I concluded that he had severe head injury from blunt trauma.

“The ‘blueing’ of the body and hyper-inflated lungs suggest that at the time of placing him or burying him, he was not dead.

“My lady that is the significant findings of my report,” the Pathologist told the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo.

I can’t find the mallam, the snake is still in the room – 17 year-old boy frustrated over ritual gone wrong

A 17-year-old graduate from Junior High School has recently shared his distressing experience of delving into money rituals in a desperate attempt to support his unemployed father and housewife mother.

Expressing his frustration on Confessions, a TV3 program, the teenager revealed that his father lost his job three months ago, prompting his search for unconventional financial assistance.

“I’m frustrated, I can’t sleep, I can’t learn… the snake is still in the room, I don’t think I can go back into the room,” he stated during an appearance on Confessions, a tell-it-all programme on Accra-based TV3.

Motivated by the seemingly prosperous lives of his peers who had rented houses and owned cars, the teenager sought guidance from them.

They introduced him to a spiritual solution offered by a ritualist, claiming it could solve his family’s financial woes.

“I spoke to them and they said they would show me the way, I was interested because I wanted to take my family out of that line. To my surprise, we went to a mallam and the solution to my problem was spiritual money,” he recounted.

According to the teenager, the ritualist provided him with a pot and instructed him to recite incantations at midnight. However, the experience took a terrifying turn when he saw a large snake during the ritual, leaving him traumatized.

Unable to cope with the aftermath, the teenager sought help from a pastor, who advised him to return to the ritualist to reverse the effects.

To his dismay, upon returning, the ritualist from Benin had already left the country, leaving the teenager and his family in a precarious situation.

“My family and I went to the mallam and to our surprise he wasn’t there… he came from Benin and I was told he’s gone back to his country,” he added.

HORRENDOUS: 22-year-old decapitates 7-year-old niece for money rituals

Recently, the disturbing details of the tragic murder of 7-year-old Spendylove Adjei have come to light, painting a gruesome picture of the event. The individuals implicated in this heart-wrenching crime are her own uncle, Augustine Afari, and a spiritualist named Osei Kofi.

Augustine Afari, a 22-year-old artisanal miner, allegedly sought quick wealth and turned to the spiritualist for advice on achieving this through illegal mining activities.

The spiritualist advised him to obtain a human head for a ritualistic purpose. In a horrifying turn of events, Afari reportedly took the life of his own niece in a brutal manner, using a machete to beat her to death before decapitating her.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are deeply tragic. The young girl’s father had entrusted her to Afari’s care while her grandmother tended to her crops. Upon the grandmother’s return, the child was missing, and Afari pretended not to know her whereabouts.

Despite the family’s frantic search, they were unable to find the girl. This prompted them to file a formal complaint with the police, leading to Afari’s arrest. He was later questioned and released on bail pending further investigation.

Eventually, Afari confessed to a pastor about his heinous act, who promptly alerted the police. Shockingly, it was revealed that Afari had buried the girl’s body without her head at an abandoned mining site.

In an unexpected twist, the spiritualist rejected the severed head sent to him by Afari, insisting that the ritual demanded the head to be presented on the same day as the murder. As a result, both Afari and the spiritualist were apprehended and charged with the serious offense of murder.

Man arrested for allegedly killing niece for money rituals

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested Nana Ackah, 37, a small-scale miner, for allegedly murdering his six-year-old niece in a suspected failed money ritual saga.

The suspect is believed to have gone to a ritualist to assist him in becoming wealthy overnight or to do ‘pocket no dry’ magic for him.

He was told that for the process to proceed, he would have to use his niece as a sacrifice.

The 37-year-old Nana Ackah, a small-scale miner, has been arrested by the Western Regional Police Command on suspicion of killing his six-year-old niece in an alleged failed money ritual.

The suspect is thought to have sought the help of a ritualist to help him become wealthy over night or to perform “pocket no dry” magic.

He was informed that in order for the procedure to continue, he would have to sacrifice his niece.

Sandra Manu’s uncle Nana Ackah hurried home, picked her up, and told her parents and other family members that he was taking her out for a treat.

The two set out on their trek, and along the way, another relative approached them and asked where he (Ackah) was taking her.

He was offended and asked if he didn’t have the right to take his niece out.

The stated relative then warned them not to stay too long where they were.

Sandra Manu questioned the uncle about where he was taking her while they were on their way, but he refused to say.

The girl then began crying, but the uncle consoled her with toffee and requested that she stop.

A few moments later, the uncle allegedly severed the minor’s head with a machete, removed her genitals and other parts of her body, and took them to the ritualist.

Nana Ackah informed the ritualist that he had brought some pieces of the niece, as was required.

But the ritualist told him that he did not ask him to kill the girl and send her pieces since she was needed alive for the money rituals.

Nana Ackah then left the shrine and returned to the bush, where he allegedly murdered the girl and buried her remains.

According to Agya Ben’s story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nana Ackah went home and told them Sandra had gone missing.

He claimed to have requested that she wait for him at a specific location while he went to hear nature’s call.

But met her absence after returning to the location where he had asked her to wait.

The police were notified, and a three-day search for the girl was launched, even though Nana Ackah had reportedly murdered her.

On the third day, he confessed to the crime and brought police, family members, and journalists to the site where Sandra was buried.

The Police dug up the site and, to their astonishment, discovered Sandra’s headless body and the other pieces he had removed and planned to use for the money rituals.

He then led the police to the ritualist, who has also been arrested but has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he did not request that Nana Ackah kill Sandra but rather deliver her life to the shrine.

Woman reportedly shot by a man after her daughter declined his marriage proposal

A man, Joseph Appiah is accused of reportedly shooting Veronica Amoah, aged 50, due to her objection to his desire to marry her daughter.

The daughter involved, Comfort Acquah, detailed that Joseph Appiah, the individual who allegedly shot her mother, had been issuing threats of harm directed towards her. The threats stemmed from her rejection of his proposal for marriage, although she did not take his words seriously.

She additionally mentioned that her decision to decline Joseph’s proposal was influenced by his history of fathering two children with another woman. In light of this, she had suggested that he consider marrying the said woman instead.

Speaking in an interview with onuanaonline.com on Monday, August 7, 2023, the daughter of the victim, Comfort Acquah, narrated how the incident panned out.

“The guy [Joseph Appiah] had threatened to kill my mother if I don’t marry him. One of my sisters has been admitted to the [Abura Dunkwa Government] hospital so my mother visited her and came home late around 11 pm on Saturday. Unknown to my mother, the guy was stalking her. My mother said she met someone wearing a black ‘jalabia’ and covered his whole face so she didn’t recognize him.

“There is some plantain in our backyard so he went to hide there, opened the window lock with a cutlass, and cut through the net. He shot her through the window when she put off the lights and lay on her bed. Someone saw him when he was running but the person is a stranger, so he couldn’t mention his name,” she explained.

Comfort Acquah further indicated that medical doctors at Abura Dunkwa Government Hospital could not attend to her 50-year-old mother, Veronica Amoah, because they do not work on weekends.

She said her mother was only given a drip and painkillers by the nurses as they waited for the doctors to report the following day.

“My mother started screaming and those around took her to the hospital. But doctors don’t come on weekends so she is suffering. Some of the bullets are in the head, neck, and back because they spread across.

“They gave her a drip and the nurses say the doctor will come today[Monday, August 7, 2023] to do a postmortem on her to remove the bullets,” she told Onuaonline.com.

Man kills and sacrifices 7-year-old niece for money rituals

The residents of Wassa Nkyirifi, a farming community in the Western Region of Ghana, were shocked and horrified when they discovered the suspected murder of a seven-year-old girl named Sandy Manu. The alleged perpetrator was her uncle, a 37-year-old farmer named Augustine.

Initially, Augustine had reported to the police that his niece had gone missing, and he made public announcements on radio seeking help to locate her. However, the police became suspicious of his behavior and responses during their investigation. After intense interrogation, Augustine broke down and confessed to the police that he had killed his niece for money ritual purposes in an attempt to escape poverty.

According to Augustine’s confession, he had complained about his financial struggles to an elderly man in the community, who suggested using one of his nieces for money rituals. Upon following this advice, Augustine sought the help of a spiritualist, who instructed him to bring the head of one of his nieces for the ritual. Subsequently, he killed Sandy and buried her headless body in a nearby bush, while keeping her head hidden for the ritual.

The police accompanied Augustine to the location where the body was buried, and they exhumed the headless body. The head was found at another location as well. Sandy’s remains have been taken to the morgue, and Augustine is currently in police custody.

This disturbing incident has left the community in shock and has garnered attention on social media, where a video of the exhumation has been shared by some community members.

Relatives of Sarawudeen Shila, a 30-year-old man allegedly beaten to death by the police in Asawase, Kumasi, have made statements.

Speaking in an interview, the family expressed their composure as they rely on the Ghana Police Service to ensure justice for them, having been reassured by the police leadership in the Ashanti Region.

Abdulai Aziz, the elder brother of the deceased and spokesperson for the family, disclosed in the interview that the Ashanti regional police commander and other district commanders visited the family in Asawase. They provided assurance that comprehensive investigations would be conducted to hold anyone, including police officers, accountable if found guilty in the case.

Their statement follows the recent death of a 30 year old man that occurred at Asawase following an alleged brutality by the police on him. This, according to the report occurerd after the police had allegedly gone for an operation to manhunt for some stubborn guys at ‘Goro area’ which is a suburb of Asawase.

According to the report, upon sensing danger, many of the targeted vagabonds fled the scene. Unfortunately, luck did not favor Sarawudeen, who was allegedly passing by and was unable to escape the situation.

The report further revealed that most of these targeted vagabonds after sensing danger, took to their heels. Luck however eluded the Late Sarawudeen who was allegedly passing by.

“He was not part and in fact, he had no idea of what was going on. But the police wrongly accused him of being part”, an eyewitness earlier told GhanaWeb.

According to the reports, the boy subsequently collapsed after the police had allegedly brutalised him. “hey left him on the ground after observing that he had been unconscious.

According the source, he was subsequently taken to the Manhyia hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Though the police are yet to comment on the issue, some eyewitnesses who spoke to this reporter described the incident as very unfortunate.

Angered by the incident, a mob of youth from Asawase allegedly went to the Asawase police station to report the issue where the police told them they should go to the airport roundabout since that’s the place the alleged police operatives came from.

“The police advised them to go to the Airport Roundabout police station to report the issue since that is the place where the men came from. The boys however insisted and this led to the vandalism of the police car, metre board, windows, some chairs and tables at the reception”, one of the angry youth said.

Aziz, who commented on the developing incidents said it was very unfortunate that all these have happened, but the Asawase youth took the action out of anger. Describing his brother as an innocent person who was rather mistaken for other people’s offence by the police, Aziz said the family was of much conviction that the truth will surely come out.

Salvaged Kenyan cult followers to be charged with murder

Earlier this year, forty-one individuals were rescued from a doomsday cult in Kenya. However, instead of being free from legal repercussions, they now face serious charges, including murder and other offenses, alongside the cult’s leader.

According to prosecutors, these rescued individuals, who were either parents or grandparents, are now considered suspects as they were responsible for the well-being of children who died or went missing within the cult.

The cult’s leader, Paul Mackenzie, is alleged to have played a significant role in the tragic events. He is accused of promoting the belief that followers should starve themselves to death in order to achieve entry into heaven before the world’s end.

The police, while investigating what appears to be a mass suicide, have uncovered a startling number of bodies—over 400—exhumed from the Shakahola forest in the south-eastern region of Kenya.

More than 600 people are still missing.

  • British national, 14, dies after falling from 4th floor of school dormitory; parents suspect foul play

British national, 14, dies after falling from 4th floor of school dormitory; parents suspect foul play

The untimely death of a 14-year-old British national has left his family in anguish.

The boy is said to have tragically lost his life at St. Peter’s Mission School in Ogbojo, Adentan Municipality after falling from the 4th floor of one of the school’s dormitories.

His family is therefore seeking answers and justice for their beloved.

The family is outraged over the claims made by school authorities, and they suspect foul play in their son’s death.

They have expressed their concerns previously about the circumstances surrounding the incident and are seeking clarity on what truly transpired.

According to the school authorities, the incident occurred on Monday, May 15, within the school premises. The boy was immediately rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC), but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In an interview with Eyewitness News, the family head, Nii Nii Quaye Ashale, vehemently refuted the school authorities’ version of events.

He alleges that their son did not fall from the dormitory but rather met with a different fate outside the school premises. The family finds the reports provided by the school authorities to be incredulous and dismisses them as a “cock-and-bull story.”

“We realised it was a cock-and-bull story indeed, there was no correlation between what we saw and told. The blood stains on the floor were not up to a tin of canned milk. Our grandson and son never fell from any 4th floor. He was murdered outside the school, they brought him back when everybody was asleep, and they just took him to the spot. They spread a pint of his blood around the place.

“If the school is a boarding house, and it’s got security, definitely the boy couldn’t have run out of campus, he’s in the custody of the authorities of the school. From what we saw and what they narrated to us that he fell from the 4th floor. And the quantum of blood that was there, clearly, there was an indication that something had transpired,” a livid family head pointed out.

He further debunked claims that the boy engaged in drug peddling.

“We are also waiting on the homicide to tell us. The report that came out from the standard board was that he never took drugs and that he was never poisoned. It all lies when the school authorities said he was high on drugs, and they had to bathe him with cool water and put him to sleep. The drugs that they said might have been the cause of his death are all a lie”.

50-year-old farmer who allegedly killed his wife arrested

A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife.

The entire farming community of Apla in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region has been thrown into a state of shock following Thursday’s suspected murder of a married woman by her husband.

Police at Oterkporlu on the morning of Thursday, June 22, 2023 arrested 50-year-old Seth Ayenor, a farmer for the suspected murder of his 42-year-old wife, Victoria Ayenor, also a farmer.

The couple lived together with their 11-year-old daughter, the younger of two
    daughters the couple had together.

Detailing the events surrounding the incident to GhanaWeb, Tetteh Joana Korkor, 38, sister of the deceased and resident at Mampong also in the same municipality disclosed that she received a call around 2 am on Thursday from some neighbours of the couple at Apla that her sister had died following a short illness.

Miss Tetteh Joana Korkor furthered that upon reaching the scene later that morning at 9.20 am, however, the state in which she found her sister and a thorough observation of the place by herself and neighbours suggested that the accused murdered his wife, contrary to his assertion that her death was an accident following the collapse of a wall of the room which they occupied.

Seth Ayenor while pleading innocent prior to the arrival of the police reportedly told members of the community that a section of the wall of the room collapsed on his wife in the dead of the night while he sat in the middle of the compound.

He continued that he subsequently raised an alarm, drawing neighbours to the scene.

The neighbours who were not satisfied with the husband’s narrations, tied him up to prevent him from escaping pending the arrival of the police.

“He claims he’s innocent, that he was under a tree in the house when he heard a thud followed by a cry of pain from the deceased who was in the room, only to realize that his wife had died, that’s his account,” narrated Miss Korkor.

But countering his brother-in-law’s claim of innocence however, the visibly shaken sister disclosed: “She was bleeding from her head and the whole place was stained in blood…the hospital authorities [at St. Martin de Porres] said she was struck in the head with a cutlass.”

According to her, the suspect, after committing the heinous crime attempted wiping away all touches of evidence by wiping traces of blood with their bedsheet and some clothing.

These items were subsequently retrieved by the police upon a thorough search of the surrounding areas. Some suspected marijuana was also found wrapped in a shirt belonging to the suspect in the surrounding bush of the house.

The suspect is currently in custody at the Asesewa District Police Command pending further investigations into the case.

Seth is also reported to have given a different account of the circumstances leading to his wife’s death to the police, claiming that his late wife died as a result of a physical confrontation between them following a misunderstanding.

Victoria’s remains have since been deposited at the morgue of the St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital at Agormanya for preservation and autopsy.

The couple have been married for the past fifteen years with two kids besides two other children the woman had before her marriage to Seth.

South Korean woman accused of keeping in freezer two newborns she killed

Police in South Korea have requested an arrest warrant for a woman who stands accused of killing two of her newborn babies and storing their bodies in her freezer for an extended period.

According to officials from Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police, the woman, who is in her 30s, admitted to the killings, citing economic difficulties in caring for her three other children aged 12, 10, and 8 as the reason behind her actions.

Both newborns were reportedly only a day old when they died. The first child, her fourth, was born in a hospital in November 2018, and the woman allegedly strangled the baby the day after giving birth before preserving the body in her home’s freezer.

Similarly, her fifth child, a boy born in November 2019, suffered the same fate.

The woman’s husband claims he was unaware of the alleged murders, as he was informed that the two children had been aborted, according to police statements.

The case came to the attention of authorities in May after the government’s Board of Audit and Inspection discovered that the births of the infants had never been officially registered, despite hospital records confirming their births.

The board then notified Suwon City Hal, the municipal government, which requested a police investigation after the mother refused an on-site inspection.

On June 21, the police conducted a search and seizure operation in the woman’s home, during which she confessed to the murders, police say.

The woman is due to attend an arrest warrant hearing on Friday.
