John Ward, who spent £2m of his own money investigating the case, died within two weeks of his wife Jan.
Their sons Bob and Tim said they would continue their father’s mission.
Bob Ward said his father, who died aged 89, continued to follow leads up until a few weeks ago.
He said, together with his brother, they would carry on their father’s work, and they planned to publish a book on the case and get a documentary made.
“The world can get to see what he’s been doing for the last 35 years,” he told BBC Radio Suffolk.
“It’s such an extraordinary story and I think people only know about half of it.”
Julie Ward’s mutilated remains were discovered by her father
Miss Ward disappeared towards the end of a solo photography safari.
She was last seen alive on 6 September 1988 before her burned and dismembered body was found by her father a week later.
At the time, Kenyan officials claimed she had been attacked by animals, but they later accepted she was murdered after her father uncovered further evidence.
Unlawful killing
Two game rangers were acquitted of Miss Ward’s murder in 1992 due to insufficient evidence.
A new team of Kenyan police officers re-examined the case in 1997 and in 1999 a gamekeeper was tried and acquitted of the crime.
In 2004, an inquest held in Ipswich recorded a verdict of unlawful killing.
John Ward, from Brockley, near Bury St Edmunds, had made more than 100 visits to Kenya, trying to hunt down who was responsible.
He previously said if his daughter’s death was accidental, he would have accepted, but he was determined not to give up on the murder investigation.

Numbers released by the police in South Africa on Tuesday May 30 indicates that 3 murder cases are recorded every hour in the first quarter of the year
Every three months, at a press conference broadcast live on television, Police Minister Bheki Cele paints a bleak picture of insecurity in one of the most dangerous countries in the world.
Between January and March, the number of murders rose by 3.4% compared with the same period last year, with 6,289 cases recorded.
But “fewer children were killed than last year”, said Mr. Cele, with child murders down by 20%. “We are gradually making up ground on the criminals“, the minister said.
By way of comparison, South Africa records an average of ten homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, while Japan is close to zero and France one, according to the World Bank.
Sometimes described as the “epicentre of rape” because of the impressive number of complaints, South Africa opened more than 10,500 cases in the first three months of the year. This figure is down for once, with 2.8% fewer cases reported than over the same period last year.
Cash-in-transit attacks, on the other hand, rose by more than 20% and thefts from residences by almost 6%.
In Delhi, the capital of India, a 20-year-old man has been arrested by the police for the brutal stabbing and murder of a 16-year-old female friend in a public setting.
Disturbing video footage of the assault shows the man repeatedly stabbing the girl while using a large stone to crush her head. Despite the horrific nature of the attack, many bystanders can be seen watching or simply walking by.
Authorities have revealed that the couple had a romantic relationship and had quarreled just hours before the murder took place on Sunday. The girl was on her way to attend a friend’s son’s birthday party when she was viciously attacked, according to senior police official Ravi Kumar Singh.

The suspect, identified as Sahil, was apprehended near Bulandshahr district in the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh. The investigation is ongoing, and further details cannot be disclosed at this time, stated Mr. Singh.
The viral video of this gruesome murder has sparked widespread anger and outrage on social media. Hashtags such as #DelhiMurder and #DelhiCrime, along with the name of the locality where the crime occurred, Shahbad Dairy, have been trending on Twitter as people express their shock and condemnation.
In a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the murder as “very sad and unfortunate” and said that “criminals have become fearless, there is no fear of the police”.
“The crime was captured on CCTV. Several people saw this, but did not pay heed. Delhi has become extremely unsafe for women and girls,” news agency ANI quoted the Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal as saying.
The chairperson of the National Commission for Women Rekha Sharma said the crime showed the “insensitivity” of the people of Delhi.
“There were several people at the spot when the incident took place but no one took any action to help the girl. The case should be heard in a fast-track court and the verdict should come as early as possible,” she said.
This is not the first gruesome crime in India where bystanders have been called out for their apathy. In the past too, citizens have been criticised for watching or making videos instead of helping victims of crime.
There was similar outrage and much introspection after the December 2012 gangrape – and the subsequent death – of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student on a bus in Delhi.
Her male companion, who was also assaulted but survived, later recounted how they lay injured and bleeding – but no-one stopped to help them for 25 minutes.
The police are currently in pursuit of two individuals accused of assaulting a man and causing his death after accusing him of stealing GHS1,000.
Reportedly, Kofi Naasei and Kofi Ase stormed the residence of the now-deceased Akwasi Kwaa, 32, at around 2 am. They confronted him with allegations of theft and proceeded to tie him to a metal lights pole.
They physically assaulted him and then dragged him to Akataninse, where the beatings continued until he succumbed to his injuries.
Despite pleas from the deceased’s sister, Maame Yaa Aso, urging the assailants to hand over the suspect to the police, their demands were ignored. Kofi Ase even threatened that they would kill him, justifying their actions by labelling him a thief.
An official complaint was filed, leading the police to Akataninse, where they discovered the lifeless body of the deceased lying face-down. The body had a blue nylon rope tied around the neck and shoulder, with an orange T-shirt hanging from the neck, and a plastic bottle nearby.
The body, bearing multiple wounds, was then transported to Afari Community Hospital and subsequently deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
Following the heinous act, all the culprits fled the town. However, the Nkawie police have assured that they are actively working to apprehend the suspects, ensuring they face the full consequences of the law.
The Akatsi South Police Command has retrieved some human parts believed to be the remains of a 28-year-old motor rider, Louis Agbogli, who went missing on April 21.
Louis Agbogli, a native of Atidzive who resides at Akatsi, all within the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region reportedly went missing after he was seen picking a female pillion rider on Friday, April 21 from Akatsi to the Kpetoe area.
Chief Superintendent Isaac Baah, the Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander, briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on developments relating to the incident, said on Thursday, April 27, Mr Lumor Agbogli, father of the deceased, made a complaint to the Police about the disappearance of his son.
Mr Baah said the Police in their preliminary investigations, said the suspect, Regina Dagba, an 18-year-old girl from Asafotsi-Dagbakope, a village within Akatsi South on Thursday, April 20, sought the service of a motor rider ostensibly to pick her to Adetsewui, where she was to meet her boyfriend.
He said the charge for transportation of the suspect could not meet her financial status at that time, “so the deceased willingly added Ghc 3.00 to help aid her departure to the village.”
Mr Baah said the suspect, after taking the deceased’s contact, called him the next day to offer gratitude for his assistance and asked him to pick her to Kpetoe, which he obliged, “even though his colleagues riders discouraged him from offering that service.”
“Upon reaching Kpetoe, the suspect appealed to the deceased to take her to a village called Nyatsive, where the deceased had since not returned, causing fear and panic among his relations and friends,” he said.
Mr Baah further disclosed that the suspect, together with Etse Datsomor, her 20-year-old boyfriend from Adetsewui, was lured from his hideout at Nyatsive in the Republic of Togo, and arrested around the Wute stretch of the Akatsi- Ziope road on Monday, May 15, where they both admitted to having murdered the victim after interrogation.
He said his outfit in connection with their Togolese counterpart after a court order was obtained, Etse led a team of both Police officers from Ghana and Togo to a gravel pit site located between Kpetoe and Nyatsive, near Togo, where bones and a skull was retrieved.
“Suspect pointed the scene to the police and after a careful inspection, it was found that the body had decomposed, leaving behind only the bones and skull.”
Police sources revealed that the suspect also led the Police team to a nearby bush to retrieve the deceased’s motorbike, which was close to where he was allegedly murdered.
Mr Baah said efforts were underway to forward the bones to Accra for Forensic Laboratory examination, whilst the suspects would reappear in court on Friday, June 2.
Six individuals have been remanded in police custody by the Tema District Court in connection with the death of Charles Martey Odam in Adjumador, a town near Afienya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region.
The accused individuals, as reported by The Chronicles newspaper on May 18, 2023, are George Martey (67), a farmer; Nelson Anum Martey (59), a mechanic; Nii Marteye Martey Nathaniel (39), a businessman; Michael Martey Morrison (35), a businessman; Thomas Martey (34), a freelance writer; and Daniel Martey (35), a welder. All of them are residents of Adjumador.
During the court proceedings presided over by Her Ladyship Siran Mahama, the prosecutor presented a brief summary of the case. The complainant, Martey Samuel Mensah, is a building contractor, while the deceased, aged 70, was a pensioner who resided in an eight-bedroom self-contained house in Adjumador.
According to the report, the complainant, the accused individuals, and the deceased are all relatives of the Changha Martey Family in Adjumador, with the deceased serving as the family head. The report further stated that George Martey, one of the deceased’s brothers, had expressed dissatisfaction with his leadership of the family.
As a result, the accused individuals allegedly subjected the deceased to unfounded abuse and threats. The deceased shared a room with his 27-year-old daughter, Judith Merley Martey, who works as a pharmacy assistant.
The newspaper went on to narrate that on November 1, 2022, during the day, all the accused people, aside from Daniel Martey and the witnesses Elizabeth Tetteh and Samuel Narh, appeared before the Tema Community 8 Police regarding a plot of land that was the subject of an investigation involving the accused people and the witnesses.
At the time of investigation by the police of the Community 8 station, George Martey announced himself as the family head of the Changha Martey Family of Adjumador.
Elizabeth Tetteh, who is the witness in the case, disclosed that the deceased was rather the family head and not George Martey. This led to exchanges between them.
The police scheduled them for another meeting on November 4, 2022, for George to produce his family head, Charles Martey Odam, who is now deceased.
The newspaper chronicled the series of events that transpired leading to the killing and subsequent arrest of the six persons below:
On November 1, 2022, Michael Martey Morrison, in the afternoon, contacted the complainant on the phone and registered his displeasure about the family headship and demanded to have a meeting with the complainant and the deceased.
On November 2, 2022, at 1:00 am, the witness, Judith Martey, was awakened by a sound from a gunshot but did not know the actual direction from which the gun was fired.
She woke up around 4:00 am, the usual time she began her daily chores and prepared to take her son to school and continued to Afienya, her workplace.
On the same day, at about 11:00 am, Judith received a phone call from her uncle, Quarshie Isaac Martey, to the effect that masons working for her father (deceased) had gone to the house to work but were unable to find her father.
Both Judith and Isaac rushed home, opened the deceased’s door, and found his lifeless body by the side of his bed in a pool of blood.
A complaint was lodged, and investigations were initiated. Two spent cartridges were retrieved behind the deceased’s bedroom window.
Police preliminary investigation disclosed that the death of the deceased was a result of the dispute over who becomes the rightful person to be the head of the family.

May 2023 – Ghanaian cab driver murdered by three teenagers in New Jersey
A cab driver was shot and killed by a group of young teenagers during a robbery incident in New Jersey, with police identifying the victim as 57-year-old Ghanaian immigrant, Koffi Addo.
Addo came to the U.S. from Ghana in 2006 determined to work hard — and he did, six days a week, driving a school bus by day, a taxi by night. On the night he died, three teenagers reportedly called All Brunswick Taxi and said they needed a ride to the movie theaters. But evidently, their motives were much more sinister.
“He was a beautiful soul to be taken away from us so soon. He had so much more on this Earth to do,” said his widow, Kecia Banks.
Addo had done so much already, having brought his two sons here from Ghana to give them a better life. He also worked to send money back to his village to help others do the same.
He was behind the wheel of his taxi the night of May 18 when he got the call to come to a quiet block of Franklin Township — unaware that three teenagers, just 13 and 14 years old, allegedly lay in wait.
The three teenagers who are charged with killing him are in juvenile detention. His widow, an educator, said that despite her family’s pain, she prays for them.
“Those are someone’s babies and my heart goes out to their families as well. I pray they have strength,” said Banks.
