Apologize or face our wrath – Wayoosi to Martha Ankomah

Veteran actor Wayoosi has called upon Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah to issue an apology for her remarks against the Kumawood movie industry or else face consequences.

Ghanaian Actress, Martha Ankomah, who had kept a low profile for years, unexpectedly found herself in the headlines last week for an unfavorable reason: actor Lil Win launched a verbal attack against her.

Reports revealed that certain Kumawood producers had approached Martha Ankomah for a role in one of their films, only to be turned down. She reportedly declined the offer, citing the perception that Kumawood movies are of inferior quality.

In response to Martha Ankomah’s remarks, veteran actor Wayoosi expressed discontent, suggesting that it would be in her best interest to apologize for her comments.

He emphasized that her statement was disrespectful to actors in the Kumawood industry and urged her to rectify the situation by offering an apology.

Wayoosi further pointed out that Martha Ankomah’s comments not only offended Kumawood actors and actresses but also showed disrespect towards her colleagues from the English-speaking industry who had previously worked in Kumawood productions.

As of now, Martha Ankomah has yet to address the issue or issue an apology for her remarks, which were reportedly made in private but brought to light by Lil Win.

  • Senegal sees widespread protests over election postponement

Senegal sees widespread protests over election postponement

Violent protests have erupted across Senegal in response to the postponement of presidential elections, with the first fatality reported as clashes intensify.

A student died during clashes with police on Friday in the northern city of Saint-Louis, as confirmed by an opposition leader and a local hospital source.

In the capital Dakar, security forces deployed tear gas to disperse the crowds.

Originally scheduled for February 25, the elections were postponed until December 15, with President Macky Sall asserting that this decision was not about holding onto power.

Earlier, Mr. Sall had indefinitely suspended the polls, citing the need to resolve a dispute over the eligibility of presidential candidates. Subsequently, lawmakers extended Mr. Sall’s mandate by 10 months.

Critics of the move argue that Senegal’s reputation as a democratic stronghold in an otherwise volatile region of West Africa is at stake.

Opposition leader Khalifa Sall, unrelated to the president, denounced the election delay as a “constitutional coup.”

While Mr. Sall expressed willingness to step down, he emphasized the importance of ensuring stability and peace in the country.

The student’s death in Saint-Louis was reported by Khalifa Sall on social media, lamenting the clashes as a consequence of the unjustifiable interruption of the electoral process.

The incident was confirmed by a local hospital source and an official from the student’s university, according to AFP.

Senegalese authorities have yet to comment publicly on the matter.

Last weekend, mass protests erupted across the country, culminating in Friday’s confrontations in Dakar, where demonstrators clashed with security forces, leading to stone-throwing and tire-burning.

President Sall, although asserting he won’t seek reelection, faces accusations of attempting to retain power or unfairly influencing his successor.

While twenty candidates initially qualified for the elections, several were excluded by the Constitutional Council, responsible for determining candidates’ eligibility.

West Africa’s regional bloc, ECOWAS, urged Senegal’s political leaders to urgently restore the electoral calendar in accordance with the constitution.

Senegal has long been regarded as one of West Africa’s most stable democracies, having experienced three peaceful transfers of power and never delaying a presidential election.

  • EC’s proposal for a change in election date not in good faith – NDC

EC’s proposal for a change in election date not in good faith – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by John Mahama, has declared that the party will not back the plan to move the 2024 election date from December to November.

“We [NDC] do not believe that this is being proposed in good faith,” he said.

Addressing the minority caucus meeting in Ho on Saturday, February 10, 2024, Mahama asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was exhibiting signs of anticipating defeat and had initiated efforts to discredit the upcoming elections.

He cited the Electoral Commission’s sudden proposal to change the election date from December 7 to November 7, despite not demonstrating readiness for the general elections, as one such attempt.

Mahama highlighted the evident lack of preparedness displayed during the District Assembly elections in December of the previous year. He emphasized the presence of fundamental errors and significant logistical deficiencies, indicating the Electoral Commission’s inability to effectively manage electoral processes.

Expressing confidence, Mahama stated that all indications suggested a decisive victory for the NDC in the 2024 elections. He asserted that the people of Ghana would unmistakably reject the governance of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP administration, which, in his view, had delivered inadequate governance to the nation.

Concerning the matter of ongoing registration, as advocated by the EC, Mahama insisted that the procedure should incorporate a mechanism allowing all political parties and pertinent stakeholders to actively monitor the process in real-time. This, he argued, would prevent fraud and manipulation that could unfairly benefit any party.

While the EC proposed the date change to improve operational efficiency, particularly in the event of a runoff, the NDC objected, asserting that Dr. Bossman Asare’s announcement did not accurately reflect the consensus reached regarding the commencement year for significant electoral reforms, which was agreed to be November 2028.

Retired Commissioner of Police (COP), Nathan Kofi Boakye was spotted leading John Mahama as Asanteman observed a durbar of chiefs to mark the 150th Anniversary of the Sagrenti War, a historic conflict between the Asantes and the British Colonial Army in 1874.

The commemorative durbar, named “Kuntunkuni” to honor the memories of the war, saw the presence of John Mahama and other prominent political figures.

Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye was spotted leading John Mahama as Asanteman observed a durbar of chiefs to mark the 150th Anniversary of the Sagrenti War, a historic conflict between the Asantes and the British Colonial Army in 1874.

The commemorative durbar, named “Kuntunkuni” to honor the memories of the war, saw the presence of John Mahama and other prominent political figures. Notably, Kofi Boakye, dressed in black, escorted John Mahama to the event.

Earlier, the retired police chief was observed participating in the campaign efforts of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to regain power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He joined the NDC’s 24-hour Economy Sensitization Walk in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, alongside former President John Dramani Mahama and NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

There’s growing speculation that Boakye might be selected as the running mate for NDC presidential candidate John Mahama in the upcoming December 2024 elections.

Sources within the NDC suggest that discussions and selection processes are ongoing, with increasing confidence that Mahama will nominate Boakye, considering their close relationship and Boakye’s ties to the influential Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region.

Despite retiring from the Ghana Police Service with a reputation for professionalism and bravery, Boakye’s potential selection as Mahama’s running mate has sparked debates. While some believe it could boost Mahama’s chances of winning the presidency, others argue that Boakye’s presence on the ticket might ensure a more robust response to the NPP’s alleged election rigging plans in 2024.

  • Diaspora Patriotic Forum polls favor NAPO as Bawumia’s running mate

Diaspora Patriotic Forum polls favor NAPO as Bawumia’s running mate

The Diaspora Patriotic Forum (DPF), a New Patriotic Party (NPP) think tank abroad, recently conducted a comprehensive week-long opinion poll regarding the NPP’s potential vice presidential candidate for the 2024 elections.

Utilizing the secure Survey Monkey Polls tool, 621 participants took part in the survey, revealing a notable preference for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, as the favored running mate to Dr. Bawumia.

Among the 620 respondents, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh secured a commanding 42.42% of the vote, receiving 263 votes. This significant support was evident among NPP sympathizers, external branch members, and executives worldwide. Following behind were Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum (23.23%), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (12.58%), and others, with 2.10% indicating a preference for none of the listed candidates.

The reasons behind the respondents’ preferences provided insights into their priorities. A notable 29.15% emphasized the importance of selecting a candidate who complements Dr. Bawumia, bringing political experience and innovative ideas to the ticket.

Additionally, 21.34% highlighted the candidate’s ability to attract floating voters as a crucial factor. Interestingly, religious and gender balance were not significant considerations among the diaspora NPP support base.

The poll results, coupled with in-depth discussions with external branch executives and members, strongly suggest that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the current Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, is the preferred NPP vice presidential candidate in the diaspora.

The survey aligns with the Diaspora Patriotic Forum’s commitment to providing a platform for NPP members and sympathizers to express their opinions on party matters and national development affairs.

While the ultimate decision rests with NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the overwhelming support for Napo expressed by the diaspora NPP community adds a significant dimension to the party’s considerations for the 2024 general elections.

The DPF serves as a voluntary think tank for the New Patriotic Party in the diaspora, providing credible and reliable information, education, policies, and research to support the wider political agenda of the NPP.

  • Sack Bawumia, like you did to Hopeson, Buaben Asamoa, others – Analyst tells NPP

Sack Bawumia, like you did to Hopeson, Buaben Asamoa, others – Analyst tells NPP

Political analyst Emmanuel Nti has expressed his view that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presentation on his policies and vision for Ghana amounted to betrayal and anti-party behavior.

In response to Bawumia’s outlined policies, Nti argued that the Vice President distanced himself from the problems caused by President Akufo-Addo. He claimed that if an ordinary party member had criticized the government and opposed initiatives like the E-levy, emissions tax, VAT on electricity, and other taxes that the NPP candidate pledged to scrap, they would have faced expulsion from the party.

During an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, Nti pointed out that individuals like Hopeson Adorye and lawyer Buaben Asomoa were dismissed for anti-party behavior, suggesting that others would have faced similar consequences if they had followed Bawumia’s path.

When asked whether it was fair to blame the Vice President, who primarily played an advisory role and may not have been responsible for the government’s challenges, Nti disagreed.“The president told Ghanaians that Bawumia was experienced and understood the economy better”.

On the flip side, if this is indeed his stance, it suggests a distancing from the President’s decisions and a lack of receptiveness to advice. This implies that the President may not heed counsel.

However, he also suggests another angle to consider: that it might be a deliberate tactic by the party to present Bawumia as faultless to garner votes. This strategy aims to shield Bawumia from any criticism and forms part of a larger political maneuver by the NPP.

“If an NPP communicator can defend E-levy and the whole Vice President opposes it, then there is a problem. These are the realities I am talking about. If any member had made the same remark the Vice President made, that party member would have been sanctioned or sacked from the NPP because what Bawumia said was a betrayal of the party.”

“Even an NPP communicator will defend E-levy and point out reasons why it should not be scrapped. The communicator will defend the E-levy with all their strength. And a whole vice president says he will scrap it. That is pure betrayal of the party. If communicators will defend it, why should the vice president promise to scrap it? So you think Justin Kodua and other officials would not have suspended a party member if they had made these remarks? Hopespn Adorye, Buaben Asamoa, and others were sacked. So why has the party failed to sack Bawumia, just like those they sacked recently?”

The speaker thinks that the recent occurrences could be part of a planned NPP plot to clear Bawumia’s name and present him as a perfect candidate.

Impending govt changes expected as Akufo-Addo plans reshuffle

The media has received information about an imminent ministerial reshuffle expected to be announced by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Following a meeting held at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 9, conclusive decisions were reached regarding the reshuffle.

President Akufo-Addo is gearing up to make significant adjustments to his ministerial appointments, responding to months of public calls for change.

The last major government overhaul occurred a month after the resignations of former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen and Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, who stepped down to focus on their political campaigns.

Insiders suggest that the impending reshuffle will be comprehensive, strategically postponed to coincide with the completion of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential and parliamentary primaries.

According to reliable sources, the primaries, conducted on January 27, aimed to spare affected ministers from the emotional toll of potential defeat while transitioning to new roles.

Originally scheduled for December, the reshuffle was rescheduled for February to avoid any unsuccessful candidates attributing their loss to the president, following the conclusion of the governing party’s internal elections.

Just last week, 24 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) were dismissed, with 26 replacements appointed as part of efforts to revitalize the system.

This decision underscores President Akufo-Addo’s attentiveness to the needs and aspirations of his ministers, highlighting his commitment to building a cohesive and efficient government.

Anticipated changes are expected to bring fresh perspectives, new expertise, and improved efficiency across the affected ministries.

  • Why some men are hesitant to approach independent women

Why some men are hesitant to approach independent women

An independent woman, confident in her decisions and self-sufficient in managing her life, embodies a captivating blend of strength and resilience.

Yet, amidst admiration, there’s a noticeable hesitancy in some men when it comes to approaching such women. Let’s delve into the reasons behind this phenomenon:

Intimidation Factor: Independence can be intimidating to some men, as it challenges traditional gender roles. When a woman is self-assured and capable of handling her affairs, it may leave some men uncertain about their role in her life, disrupting the societal expectation of being the provider or protector.

Fear of Rejection: The perceived high standards and clear expectations associated with independent women may instill a fear of rejection in some men. They may hesitate to approach, fearing they won’t meet her criteria or measure up to her standards.

Misunderstanding Independence: There’s often a misconception that independence equates to a preference for solitude or a lack of interest in companionship.

This misunderstanding can deter men from pursuing relationships with independent women, assuming they aren’t interested in sharing their lives.

Threatened Egos: In a culture that glorifies male success and dominance, an independent woman’s achievements can inadvertently threaten some men’s egos.

Societal norms and personal insecurities may influence attraction, causing men to shy away from women who shine brightly on their own.

Communication Gap: Independent women are known for their direct communication style, which can sometimes be misinterpreted as seriousness or a lack of humor. This misunderstanding may deter men who value light-hearted banter and playful communication in relationships.

Different Life Goals: Diverging life goals can create a barrier to attraction. Independent women often have a clear vision for their future, which may not align with a man’s aspirations or uncertainty about his own path, leading to perceived incompatibility.

Fear of Being Outshone: In relationships, everyone desires to feel valued and respected. Some men may fear being overshadowed by an independent woman’s accomplishments, triggering feelings of inadequacy or resentment.

In conclusion, while the allure of an independent woman is undeniable, societal norms, personal insecurities, and misconceptions about independence can create barriers to approaching such women for some men. Understanding and addressing these factors can foster better connections and relationships between independent women and potential partners.

  • Milk magic: A natural solution for fading scars

Milk magic: A natural solution for fading scars

Scars are reminders of life’s battles, lingering longer than we desire. Whether from a tumble, acne, or surgery, they often stick around as unwelcome guests on our skin.

However, before splurging on pricey treatments, consider giving milk a chance. Yes, the same liquid you pour into your morning coffee might just become your skin’s new best friend.

Let’s delve into how milk can work wonders in fading those stubborn marks.

    Why milk?

Milk contains lactic acid, a natural exfoliant renowned for gently removing dead skin cells and stimulating cell renewal. This process aids in lightening scars and evening out skin tone. Moreover, milk is hydrating and soothing, catering to all skin types. But how can you transform from a milk consumer to a scar-fading aficionado? Let’s explore the process step by step.

    Step-by-step milk magic

    1. The preparation

Begin with fresh, preferably organic, milk—opt for whole milk due to its higher fat content, which offers more nourishment for the skin. Ensure your face is clean and free from makeup.

    1. Application

Soak a cotton ball or soft cloth in milk and apply it directly to the scarred areas. For an added boost, mix a bit of honey with the milk for its antibacterial and healing properties.

    1. Let it work

Allow the milk to sit on your skin for about 15-20 minutes. This gives the lactic acid ample time to work its magic, gently exfoliating the scarred skin.

    1. Rinse off

Wash off the milk with lukewarm water, and gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel. Follow up with your regular moisturizer to maintain hydration.

    Consistency is key

For optimal results, repeat this process daily. Patience and consistency are essential as this isn’t a quick fix. Over time, you should notice your scars becoming lighter and less prominent.

    Tips

While milk can be a fantastic natural remedy, it’s crucial to pay attention to your skin’s response. If you experience any irritation or adverse reactions, discontinue use. Additionally, while milk can help fade scars, it tends to be most effective on newer scars. Older scars may require professional treatments for significant improvement.

In conclusion, milk offers a simple, budget-friendly solution to help fade scars, all from the comfort of your home. It turns out that milk isn’t just for building strong bones; it’s also for achieving smooth, even-toned skin. Give it a try and witness the transformation firsthand. Who would have thought that the secret to fading scars could be hiding in your fridge all along?

  • Unveiling the science behind our natural scent as well as body odour

Unveiling the science behind our natural scent as well as body odour

The Dynamics of Sweat and Scent Our bodies feature two primary types of sweat glands: eccrine and apocrine.

Eccrine glands, distributed throughout the body, release a saltwater solution to regulate body temperature, typically without odour.

Conversely, apocrine glands, concentrated in areas like the armpits and groin, produce a thicker fluid containing proteins and lipids. When this sweat interacts with skin bacteria, it generates strong, sometimes unpleasant odours.

Role of Bacteria The skin hosts a diverse array of bacteria on its surface. When apocrine sweat is secreted, these bacteria metabolize its proteins and fats, resulting in odorous compounds. This natural process varies widely from person to person due to differences in skin microbiome, diet, health, and hygiene practices.

Factors Contributing to Body Odour Several factors influence body odour:

Genetics and Diet: Genetic factors impact sweat composition, skin microbiome, and food metabolism, affecting body odour. Additionally, consuming certain foods like garlic or onions can intensify odour.

Hormonal Changes: Fluctuations in hormones during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, or menopause can exacerbate body odour by altering sweat gland activity and sweat composition.

Health and Hygiene: Illnesses and hygiene practices influence body odour. Regular bathing and wearing clean clothes are crucial for managing odour by reducing sweat and bacterial buildup.

Tips for Managing Body Odour While body odour is natural, there are ways to control it:

Maintain Hygiene: Regularly wash with soap and water, especially in areas prone to sweat accumulation.

Use Antiperspirants and Deodorants: These products help reduce sweating and mask odour.

Monitor Diet: Be mindful of foods that may affect body scent.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking water helps eliminate toxins that contribute to odour.

5 intimate sex positions to explore with your partner this Valentine’s Day

It’s Valentine’s season once again! The season of spreading, giving, receiving and making love.

By “making love,” we mean engaging in proper sex positions that makes the process an intimate, joyous and orgasmic one.

However, Valentine’s Day is not all about sex, it’s about love, compassion, and gifting. But sex is still an option.

With that being said, here are 5 sex positions to enable you enjoy the most erotic Valentine’s session with your partner.

    The Lotus

The male partner sits in the ‘cross-legged, back straight’ position while the female partner sits on their lap facing them. The person on top then wraps their legs around their partner’s lower back.

Intercourse is generally slow and especially intimate in this position and allows for ample touching, eye contact and talking.

    Chairman

The male partner sits on a chair or at the edge of the bed, and his woman straddles his lap, facing the same direction so that they’re chest-to-back.

Doing this in front of a mirror can intensify the moment for those who feel comfortable enough to watch themselves.

The receiving partner can also guide the hands of their partner over their body and other erogenous zones. She can also allow their partner to nuzzle in their neck and so on.

    The hound

Both partners are on their knees. The man is usually on the outside, curling his body around the woman while entering from behind.

The other partner rests on their forearms and can swivel their hips to find the most comfortable, pleasurable angle of penetration.

This position is great, from slow, deep thrusting to quick, shallow thrusts. The giver can also alternate between deep and shallow thrusts.

There is more skin-to-skin contact, and breasts, nipples, clitoris, and anus are all within easy reach for touching.

The male partner can also nibble the other’s ears, kiss their neck, or breathe dirty-sweet phrases down their back.”

    Valedictorian

This position is similar to the leg-on-the-shoulders position. But with this, the male partner will lift the receiver’s legs so they form a “V” shape.

He then proceeds as they would in a missionary position.

I’ve cheated on my wife before, Anas should not expose me – Obinim

Bishop Daniel Obinim expressed his concern over the prospect of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas probing his activities as a pastor.

He admitted that his biggest fear would be if Anas were to uncover his past involvement in extramarital affairs while serving as the head pastor of his church.

Apart from this admission, he claimed that there would be no other accusations against him, whether it be related to crimes like murder or fraudulent activities such as fake miracles.

This revelation occurred during a conversation between Bishop Obinim and an unidentified female journalist.

Hostess: As you are saying that you are a human, should there be an instance in the future where Anas would investigate you as it was done to TB Joshua, what would you do?

Obinim: If that’s the case then he can even start today. I have vowed not to say certain things again but he can start sooner. You talked about TB Joshua’s issue, the allegations levelled against him do not exist in my history. I haven’t killed anyone before, I haven’t visited a fetish priest too so that one I’m out.

Hostess How about womanizing and having affairs with other women?

Obinim I have already said that I’ve cheated on my wife before so Anas shouldn’t go towards that direction at all.

Following the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) documentary exposing extensive sexual abuse and misconduct by the late Prophet TB Joshua, concerns have been raised about the conduct of pastors within their ministries.

Obinim clarified that he was not involved in any of the allegations against the late Prophet TB Joshua. However, he expressed apprehension about his own past involvement in extramarital affairs with other women, should he undergo investigation in the future.

  • Kufuor publicly withdraws his support for Alan Kyeremanten, backs Bawumia as President?

Kufuor publicly withdraws his support for Alan Kyeremanten, backs Bawumia as President?

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor made a surprising announcement, putting an end to speculation about his preferred candidate for the presidency of Ghana.

During the “Dr. Bawumia Speaks” event at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra, Kufuor declared his unwavering support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Kufuor, widely regarded as one of the most successful presidents in the history of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had long been associated with Alan Kyeremanten. However, Kyeremanten’s decision to break ranks with the NPP and form the Movement for Change altered the political landscape.

In the 2008 presidential election, Kufuor openly expressed his preference for Kyerematen over Nana Akufo-Addo, then his Foreign Minister. Despite Kufuor’s endorsement, the NPP delegates ultimately chose Akufo-Addo as the presidential candidate.

Now, Kufuor has thrown his support behind Vice President Bawumia, despite initial protests from various NPP figures regarding his choice as running mate.

During the “Dr. Bawumia Speaks” event, Kufuor praised Bawumia’s visionary leadership and emphasized the importance of widespread support to continue his commendable work.

Kufuor’s unexpected endorsement is expected to have a significant impact on the upcoming December elections, reshaping the dynamics of the political landscape in Ghana.

As the NPP navigates this new course with Bawumia at the forefront, supported by influential figures like Kufuor, the former president urged Ghanaians to rally behind and support Bawumia in his leadership role, describing him as a man of destiny.

“I have always seen him as a man of destiny. When I first saw him in 2002, he was a research assistant to the governor of the Bank of Ghana. He delivered a paper at an international conference in London. There was something about his presentation. I was the president of Ghana by then. Till then I hadn’t even spoken to him before.

“I congratulated him and I don’t know what came in me, prophetically, I told him to carry on the light and that he will go far…In 2008, Akufo-Addo picked this man again to be his running mate.”

“…This man is on a mission. A mission determined by destiny. Let’s all support him to continue.

Quality leadership is very scarce,” he stated.

The former president also indicated that the country needed a visionary leader.

“Ghana has come to a crossroads. It’s not the regular politics we want. We want a leadership with vision, even in the complex world I spoke about. We should be talking about the nation and not so much as the party. We must get competent people to work with him to bring us out of the challenges we are in now,” he added.

He pleaded with the populace to allow Dr. Bawumia an opportunity to prove his mettle as president for the good of the nation.

He declared that Dr. Bawumia had what it took to be successful and pull the nation out of its present economic and social quagmire.

“He is hallmarked by humility and the temperament requisite for the job of leading the country in search of a way forward,” Mr. Kufuor said.

Mr. Kufuor emphasized the global shortage of quality leadership that comprehends modern technological advancements and contemporary geopolitics.

He stressed the necessity for visionary leadership in Ghana, capable of harnessing new technologies and mobilizing the necessary human resources to drive national growth in today’s complex world.

According to the former president, Dr. Bawumia stands out due to his understanding of current challenges and his familiarity with the technologies needed to address them.

Mr. Kufuor said: “We happen to be living in times where the whole world is in a flux. leadership is very, very scarce, quality leadership.

“If anybody aspires to be a leader without command of the new technologies, like digitalisation and also without a deep grasp of geopolitics, I tell you, he may be a good man in terms of mastering some of the old disciplines like economics, politics and all that, but I tell you very likely they will be found wanting sooner than later.”

He added that the Vice President had “this instrument under his belt — digitalisation, geopolitics, and additionally, we have seen him perform loyally under President Akufo-Addo and has been also in the public view since he got selected as the vice presidential candidate in 2008.”

Former President Kufuor also described the Vice President as a man with the right “humility and temperament” for the job as President and appealed to Ghanaians to give the Vice President a chance.

“Ghana has come to a crossroads, and I’m serious here. It’s not the normal regular politics we want; we want a leadership with vision, even in the complex world I have talked about, the leader that will be able to marshal the new technologies to pick the requisite manpower,” he said.

He added that “we must get people of competence to work with him to find our way out of the confusion our society and economy have plunged into.”

  • “Even the fact-check Ghana has called Bawumia a liar” – Sam George

“Even the fact-check Ghana has called Bawumia a liar” – Sam George

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has reaffirmed his stance on statements attributed to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasizing a firm stance against deceit.

He pointed out that Dr. Bawumia has not fulfilled numerous promises made since 2021, urging Ghanaians not to be swayed by his rhetoric.

Using the popular Nigerian slang, ‘no gree for anybody,’ Sam George underscored the importance of not allowing oneself to be deceived or manipulated.

Sam George, speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, said “When Dr. Bawumia talks, digitization has taken over corruption at the passport office, did you not see Minister for Foreign Affairs storm the place very angry to sack ‘goro boys’? So where was the digitization? Even that claim of digitization has been disputed by the Daily Graphic report of September 2016 when that project was launched. Even the fact-check Ghana has called Dr. Bawumia a liar for putting out such fake information. A man’s words are what you will judge him on. This is the same person who made promises that they will build 350 schools, promising tertiary student loan for laptops, meanwhile, he has taken money from teachers and they have not gotten their laptops yet.

“He promises that children will now get unique Ghana Card numbers from birth. This is a story that was first announced by Bawumia in November 2021. He again announced in April 2022, in June 2022, February 2023, and April 2023, so this is the 6th time Bawumia is making such a promise. The macro indicators Bawumia gave are false and misleading and you sit and ask who are his advisors.”

The Ningo-Prampram MP further stated that, “You say you are the one responsible for all digitization stuff yet you say, as for the E-Levy, I am not part of it. I mean this is a man we have come to know, to understand and recognize him for who he is, that he is a confident trickster, and he is someone who is going to trick the words and use fluency and eloquence bamboozle through Ghanaians. Right now, our eyes are open and this year, 2024, the motto is ‘no gree for anybody’ not even Bawumia and his lies.”

In a significant announcement, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his intention to eliminate the contentious E-Levy, Bet Tax, and Emissions Tax if he assumes the presidency of Ghana.

This statement follows the introduction of the E-Levy in 2022, a tax that Vice President Bawumia had previously opposed but had maintained silence on until now.

In his inaugural address to the nation as the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his disapproval of taxes on electronic financial transactions and pledged to scrap the E-Levy to foster a cashless economy.

He emphasized the importance of promoting electronic payment channels to propel Ghana towards becoming a digital and cashless society.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to implement a new tax framework, which includes abolishing the Emission Tax, betting tax, and the proposed 15% VAT on electricity tariffs if it remains in effect by January 2025.

He articulated his vision of establishing a tax system that is equitable and favorable to both individuals and businesses, particularly Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs), which form the backbone of Ghana’s business landscape.

“This film is a tribute to the generations of weavers who have kept this tradition alive and a celebration of its continuous relevance in our globalized world.”

The premiere, hosted by the Africa Caucus and Black Students Union, marked the beginning of Black History Month and capped off the “Africa Caucus Around the Fire Policy Series.”

Asanteman commemorates 150th Anniversary of Sagrenti war with durbar of chiefs

On Thursday, February 8, Asanteman convened a durbar of chiefs to mark the 150th Anniversary of the Sagrenti War, a historic conflict between the Asantes and the British Colonial Army in 1874.

Dubbed “Kuntunkuni,” the commemorative durbar aimed to honor the sacrifices made during the war, with the Asantehene and other traditional rulers dressed in somber all-black attire to symbolize the solemn occasion.

Notable political figures in Ghana, including former President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, graced the event with their presence. Sub-divisional chiefs, paramount chiefs, and queen mothers of the Ashanti Kingdom also attended.

Social media visuals captured the grandeur of Akan tradition and culture showcased at the event, with the arrival of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, being a highlight.

His majestic entrance, carried in a palanquin amidst singing, drumming, and dancing, brought the durbar to a standstill.

Another captivating moment was the arrival of the Edwesohemaa, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, who rode in a palanquin while firing shots into the sky.

The presence of Asanteman’s executioners (abrafoɔ) added to the solemn atmosphere, with one depicted in traditional attire holding a decapitated fowl, symbolizing ancestral rituals.

During the durbar, Ashanti artifacts, including a royal stool belonging to Asantehene Kofi Karikari, were formally presented before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, further enriching the historical significance of the occasion.

  • Oxfam reports one in 3 Northern Ethiopians facing extreme hunger

Oxfam reports one in 3 Northern Ethiopians facing extreme hunger

In a stark revelation, the UK-based charity Oxfam has disclosed that one in three individuals in northern Ethiopia is grappling with extreme hunger.

This dire situation encompasses nearly 10 million people across the regions of Tigray and Amhara.

The root causes of this alarming hunger crisis are multifaceted, stemming from a combination of conflict and drought.

These adversities have severely disrupted agricultural activities, leading to significant reductions in harvest yields.

As a result, millions of individuals are now resorting to desperate measures to sustain themselves, facing what Oxfam describes as “unimaginable ways” of survival.

Tragically, the consequences of this hunger crisis are already proving fatal, with reports from a federal government agency indicating that nearly 400 individuals have succumbed to starvation in Tigray and Amhara.

Oxfam warns that without a significant escalation in relief efforts, the humanitarian situation in northern Ethiopia is poised to deteriorate further, potentially resulting in a catastrophic outcome.

However, challenges persist in delivering adequate aid due to funding shortfalls and ongoing conflicts, particularly in the Amhara region.

Despite these urgent warnings from humanitarian organizations and reports of impending famine from officials in Tigray, the federal government has downplayed the likelihood of famine, adding complexity to the response efforts.

  • Oscars to introduce new award category for Best Casting starting 2026

Oscars to introduce new award category for Best Casting starting 2026

In a recent announcement, organizers of the Academy Awards have revealed plans to introduce a new Oscar category for Best Casting starting from the year 2026.

This marks the first addition of a competitive category to the ceremony since the introduction of Best Animated Feature in 2002.

The decision to include a category for casting comes after years of campaigning by casting directors who have advocated for recognition akin to other film crafts such as sound, costume, hair, and makeup.

In a statement, Academy bosses said casting directors “play an essential role in filmmaking”.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang continued: “As the Academy evolves, we are proud to add casting to the disciplines that we recognise and celebrate.

“We congratulate our casting directors branch members on this exciting milestone and for their commitment and diligence throughout this process.”

The category won’t be introduced until the 2026 ceremony due to the extensive planning that goes into awards campaigns.

The Academy has attempted in recent years to shorten the Oscars ceremony in an attempt to maintain viewer interest, but the decision has been made. The show frequently goes far beyond its allotted three hours.

    ‘Exceptional talent’

Currently, the Oscars ceremony presents 23 awards, although public interest primarily centers around major categories such as Best Picture, the acting awards, and Best Director.

The Academy has not confirmed whether the new casting category will be featured during the telecast, and a decision is likely to be made closer to the event.

Casting directors play a pivotal role in the early stages of film production, contributing significantly to the shaping of major Hollywood projects. Their responsibilities include selecting A-list actors for leading roles and casting performers for supporting roles.

While casting directors have been recognized for their vital contributions, stunt performers have also advocated for their own category at the Academy Awards, though without success thus far.

One of the key precursor ceremonies, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, introduced a stunt category in 2007. Last year, it was won by the team who worked on Top Gun: Maverick.

Barbie won the newly introduced box office achievement prize at the Golden Globes last month (director Greta Gerwig and actress Margot Robbie pictured)

Responses to the news of the casting category have been much warmer than that of the popular film category, which the Oscars attempted to introduce in 2018.

The proposed prize was a populist move designed to recognise films that had been successful at the box office but were less likely to be nominated in the traditional categories, such as summer blockbusters and superhero franchises.

However, the move prompted criticism, as many high-profile industry figures said such a category would dilute the prestige and integrity of the Oscars.

Instead, the Academy a few years later experimented with a “fan favourite” prize, a viewer vote that was not strictly a formal Oscars category. It was won by Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead but was not repeated the following year.

This year’s Oscars ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be held in Los Angeles on 10 March.

After the casting prize was announced, the three governors of the Academy’s casting directors branch – Richard Hicks, Kim Taylor-Coleman and Debra Zane – thanked the Academy.

“This award is a deserved acknowledgement of our casting directors’ exceptional talents and a testament to the dedicated efforts of our branch,” they said.

  • United States museum returns stolen artifacts to Ghana

United States museum returns stolen artifacts to Ghana

The Asantehene, the king of Ghana’s traditional Asante kingdom, has been presented with seven royal artifacts that were looted from the kingdom nearly 150 years ago.

These items were repatriated from the Fowler Museum, located at the University of California in the US, and formally handed over to King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during a ceremony held on Thursday.

Among the returned artifacts are a gold necklace, an ornamental chair, two gold stool ornaments, and two bracelets.

Also included is an elephant tail whisk, described by Erica P Jones, the senior curator of African arts at Fowler Museum, as “a ceremonial piece that is held by someone of incredibly high status.”

These items had been housed at the Fowler Museum since 1965 but were originally looted by British forces from the Asantehene’s Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, southern Ghana, back in 1874.

The repatriation of these artifacts comes shortly after the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK agreed to loan back 32 items that were similarly looted from the kingdom, mainly during the 19th Century.

Despite offering no specific timeline for this promise, he assured the nation that progress was being made.

These initiatives aim to not only alleviate the energy crisis but also spur economic growth and job creation.

The governing African National Congress (ANC) has faced mounting criticism from the public for its perceived failure to fulfill past pledges to tackle poverty and corruption.

As the country prepares for upcoming elections, President Ramaphosa’s commitments to resolving critical issues like power shortages will be closely scrutinized by voters.

Allegations of unequal treatment in Accra Sports Stadium bookings surface

At a recent Public Account Committee hearing held on February 6, 2024, Sammy Flex, the manager of self-proclaimed dancehall artist Shatta Wale, voiced concerns over what he alleges to be disparities in payment amounts for booking the Accra Sports Stadium.

During the hearing, Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), disclosed that Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy had paid GHC70,000 for booking the Accra Sports Stadium for his Bhim Concert in December 2023.

However, Sammy Flex disputed this claim, asserting that the NSA had demanded a booking fee of GHC150,000 for Shatta Wale’s Freedom Wave Concert, which was also scheduled to take place at the same venue.

According to Sammy Flex, the higher fee included charges for essential services such as lighting, ambulance provision, and logistical requirements.

He further questioned the accuracy of Professor Peter Twumasi’s statements before Parliament, where he cited Stonebwoy’s lower payment amount.

These allegations come after Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Abiola, previously denied the GHC70,000 figure, stating it was inaccurate in an interview on Hitz FM.

“To be very honest with you, these are contractual matters and usually, I wouldn’t want to engage in a public space but the Public Accounts Committee is a very serious committee that, got before the committee so I wouldn’t want to be here on radio to state otherwise.”

He added, “But what I can tell you is that I was delegated by Stonebwoy to lead the charge in terms of doing the negotiations and payment of the stadium. I can also tell you for a fact that yes we paid more than GH₵70,000 for the stadium but I mean I am just watching the issues unfold so I wouldn’t want to disclose in detail for now. I hope you bear with me,”

Video: Nigerians mock South Africans with Tyla’s song “Water” after AFCON victory

After Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a victory over South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations, a video capturing the jubilant celebration of Nigerian fans has circulated widely on social media.

In the video, ecstatic Super Eagles supporters mock their South African counterparts by dousing themselves with liquid while chanting the lyrics of the hit song “Water” by South African artist Tyla.

Despite South Africa’s recent win at the Grammy Awards in the Best African Music Performance category, disappointed Nigerian fans vowed retaliation during the AFCON semi-final match.

Following Nigeria’s triumph over South Africa in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night, scenes of jubilation erupted across the country.

The rivalry between Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, and South Africa, the continent’s most advanced economy, has a long history.

The viral video, filmed at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, shows hundreds of students congregating to sing “Water” in celebration of the Super Eagles’ victory.

Even popular Nigerian pastor Jimmy Odukoya joined in the jesting, acknowledging Bafana Bafana for their efforts while humorously suggesting they “need water” after their defeat, adding, “If it’s any consolation, it’s Grammy water.”

Some Nigerians have expanded the banter to music preferences, asserting the superiority of Afrobeats over South Africa’s amapiano genre. Culinary comparisons have also emerged, with Nigerians claiming their Jollof Rice outshines South Africa’s Bobotie.

Nigeria will face Ivory Coast in the final match on Sunday, with many South Africans likely to support the Ivorian team.

  • 70% of men in Ghana do not use condoms during sex – Report

70% of men in Ghana do not use condoms during sex – Report

A recent survey by the Ghana Statistical Service has revealed a concerning trend: 7 out of 10 men aged 15-49 in Ghana do not use condoms during sexual activities.

This revelation not only highlights attitudes towards condom usage but also raises alarms about potential implications for public health, particularly regarding HIV/AIDS transmission.

Understanding the Landscape of Condom Use

The survey paints a clear picture of current sexual health practices among Ghanaian men. The reluctance or refusal to use condoms indicates gaps in sexual health education and accessibility challenges.

In a country still grappling with HIV/AIDS, addressing the reasons behind low condom usage is crucial.

    Impact on HIV/AIDS Spread

The connection between low condom usage and rising HIV/AIDS cases cannot be ignored. Condoms are a proven method for preventing HIV transmission and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Without widespread and consistent use, the fight against HIV/AIDS in Ghana faces significant challenges.

    Urgent Need for Comprehensive Strategies

The survey underscores the need for comprehensive strategies to combat HIV/AIDS spread, focusing on education, accessibility, and stigma reduction.

    Education as a Powerful Tool

Enhanced sexual health education is essential in changing behaviors and perceptions. Initiatives should dispel myths and promote the importance of condom use in preventing HIV/AIDS.

    Improving Condom Accessibility

Ensuring affordable and readily available condoms nationwide, including in remote areas, is crucial. Government, NGOs, and the private sector must collaborate to achieve this goal.

    Addressing Cultural and Social Stigmas

Cultural and social stigmas often deter individuals from using condoms and seeking HIV/AIDS prevention measures. Normalizing conversations about sexual health and engaging community leaders can help change societal attitudes.

    A Call to Action

The survey findings call for collective action from stakeholders involved in public health and HIV/AIDS prevention. By prioritizing education, accessibility, and stigma reduction, Ghana can work towards a healthier future free from the burden of HIV/AIDS.

It’s a shared responsibility that requires the involvement of the entire society to safeguard the well-being of all Ghanaians.

Bawumia vows to implement credit card system if elected president

Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia, has declared his intention to introduce a credit card system should he win the upcoming December 7 elections.

He outlined that this system would be developed by utilizing existing data and infrastructure such as GhanaCard, GhanapostGPS, mobile money, DVLA, GRA, and bank accounts.

The proposed credit card system aims to facilitate purchases for workers, enabling them to acquire items like houses and cars on credit with reduced interest rates, as stated by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He elaborated that this initiative would reduce out-of-pocket expenses and enhance convenience for citizens. Dr. Bawumia made this revelation during his address to Ghanaians on Wednesday, February 7th.

“We look forward to starting individualised credit scoring in Ghana this year and this will make it easier for Ghanaians to access credit at lower interest rates.

“This will help build an efficient credit system and mortgage market in Ghana underpinned by individualised credit scoring and the digitalisation of land titling and transfer,” he stated.

Practical challenges may arise in implementation of emission levy – Sammy Awuku

Former National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku, has revealed that the government is revisiting the proposed annual levy for carbon emissions from petrol and diesel-powered vehicles.

Awuku acknowledged the importance of promoting eco-friendly technology but highlighted potential challenges in implementing the tax.

Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam, he pointed out the lack of charging ports across the country as a significant hurdle, making electric cars impractical.

“Government is reconsidering the emissions tax. While the idea is commendable, practical challenges may arise in implementation. Imported cars often emit emissions, and the absence of charging ports for electric vehicles poses a challenge,” he explained.

Awuku emphasized that driving long distances in an electric car within Ghana is currently unfeasible due to the lack of charging infrastructure. Additionally, he noted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, plans to alleviate tax burdens if elected president.

“Dr. Bawumia will alleviate most taxes. Yesterday, he outlined his vision, and now we are developing a comprehensive manifesto with relevant stakeholders,” he added.

Do you call yourself a star? Who knows you? What do you have? – Lilwin fumes at Martha Ankoma

Kumawood actor LilWin has strongly criticized some of his colleagues who have disparaged his efforts, including Martha Ankomah.

The actor launched a blistering attack against Ankomah, specifically addressing some ‘disparaging’ comments she made about ‘Kumawood’ movies in recent years.

Martha, in earlier interviews with HitzFm in 2017 and later with Accra FM in 2023, downplayed the storylines of recent Kumawood movies, comparing them unfavorably to the Agya Koo era.

“I love their story lines and they used to have really good movies like Kumasi Y)nko), but of late, most of their movies portray witchcraft and that does not motivate me to shoot with them,” she stated in her interview with HitzFM.

However, the discussion about Martha Ankomah’s remarks arose while LilWin was criticizing Dr. Likee’s team, following the departure of one of his actresses to Akabenezer’s camp.

The actress in question, Mimi, has been giving interviews lately, taking shots at LilWin. In response, LilWin has been attacking anyone who has undermined his efforts, including Martha Ankomah.

“Martha, those who are richer than you are rather humble and respect themselves a lot. Do you honestly call yourself a star? Who knows you? What do you have?

“I don’t even know why GTP bypassed the likes of McBrown, Mercy Asiedu and co, and made Martha Ankomah their brand ambassador. The likes of Van Vicker, Roselyn Ngissah and co, do not do these things. They even work with us. They shoot Kumawood movies. I’m still amazed that you made such statements, were you drunk?

He continued, “Patience Ozorkwor came to Kumasi to shoot a movie. Aki and Pawpaw, Mr. Ibu and the rest came down to shoot a movie here. But for people like you, who call yourselves refined actors; how many times do these Nigerians come to Ghana to shoot movies? They are the ones who rather send for you guys.”

Loss of experienced MPs every 4 years detrimental to Ghana’s democracy – Speaker

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has voiced concern over the loss of experienced Members of Parliament (MPs) during political party primaries held every four years, stating that it undermines Ghana’s democracy.

Bagbin acknowledged that primaries are a fundamental aspect of the democratic process but emphasized that it is detrimental for seasoned MPs to be denied the opportunity to continue representing their constituencies.

He highlighted the significant cost to the country associated with this loss of experience.

The Speaker called upon political parties to address this issue urgently, emphasizing the importance of preserving the expertise and continuity that experienced MPs bring to governance.

“We woke up one Saturday and by the evening we’ve lost 28 MPs through the primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Earlier last year, we lost 17 MPs through the primaries of the National Democratic Congress … the primaries are part of the process for the [voters] to determine who represents them in Parliament but the case of voluntary discontinuance of MPs [from the House] is not a good signal for the legislature and for Ghana’s democratic development,” Bagbin says.

“Experience as we all know counts in this House but the endorsement of your parties to contest is equally important. The hemorrhage and cost to the nation is, however, a great concern worth considering by all stakeholders and I want to appeal to the political parties to take this matter up seriously because the investment that is made in an individual MP is so huge for the nation just to go waste after every four years.”

Mohbad’s father isn’t the biological parent of my late son – Mohbad’s mother

Mohbad Aloba’s mother has made a startling revelation, claiming that her ex-husband, Mr. Joseph Aloba, is not the biological father of the late singer.

These astonishing allegations came to light in a leaked audio recording, where Mohbad’s mother contacted a blogger known for supporting Mr. Joseph Aloba in seeking justice for the deceased singer.

In the leaked audio, the grieving mother voiced her discontent with the blogger and Mohbad’s father, going as far as to utter curses directed at them.

The primary topic of discussion centered around her insistence on a DNA test within three days to ascertain whether Mr. Joseph Aloba is indeed Mohbad’s biological father.

In the midst of the emotionally charged conversation, Mohbad’s mother accused Mr. Joseph Aloba of never genuinely caring for the children, claiming that he used their situation to solicit funds for himself.

She also questioned the blogger’s intentions, questioning whether justice for Mohbad was sincerely the objective or if they were simply seeking to capitalize on the situation.

    In her words;

“Is it justice for Mohbad you’re looking for? Is he your sibling? Do you want Justice or you’re trying to steal money.

“You’re disturbing Nigerians; dribbling them left and right. Have you forgotten you have your own children? What you’re making my son face, you shall face it too.

“You thief! I give you three days to do dna; you’ll know that Baba Mohbad is not the biological father of Mohbad.

“You know I’m married to someone else. He’s not the owner of those kids; he’s just taking money on their behalf and you say you’re looking for justice for Mohbad.”

Why should married women have password on their phones? – Don Richard sparks controversy

Renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker Richard Oguntimehin, popularly known as Don Richard, has ignited a storm of debate online with his candid critique of married women who keep their phones locked with passwords, hiding them from their husbands.

In a viral video, Don Richard humorously remarked on the irony of a woman, who has been married into her husband’s home with significant expenses like costly bride price, choosing to lock her phone with a password, asserting that her husband cannot access her messages.

He emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable, asserting that husbands have the right to inspect their wives’ phones, including reviewing friend requests and messages.

Don Richard advised married men confronted with such situations to firmly oppose such conduct from their wives to prevent the risk of raising a child who is not biologically theirs.

He boldly asserted that women who engage in such practices are undoubtedly being unfaithful to their husbands.

Oil prices rose on Thursday following Israel’s rejection of a ceasefire offer from Hamas and a weaker dollar. Brent crude futures increased by 0.4% to $79.56 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures climbed 0.4% to $74.17 a barrel.

Tensions in the wider Middle East have kept the market unsettled since October, with little progress in resolving the Gaza conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu turned down Hamas’ latest ceasefire proposal, but U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken indicated room for negotiation.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian Hamas delegation, led by senior official Khalil Al-Hayya, was set to hold ceasefire talks with Egypt and Qatar in Cairo.

A weaker dollar also supported oil prices, making crude more affordable for traders holding other currencies. The dollar index fell to 104.00 at 0730 GMT.

  • Man accused of killing girlfriend in US escapes Kenyan police custody

Man accused of killing girlfriend in US escapes Kenyan police custody

Kelvin Kangethe, aged 41, who fled the United States after allegedly murdering his girlfriend, has managed to escape from a police station in Kenya.

Kangethe was apprehended last week as he left a club in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, following an extensive manhunt by both Kenyan and US authorities.

Despite a court order allowing his detention for 30 days pending possible extradition, Kangethe has vanished.

Authorities claim that Kangethe killed his girlfriend last October and left her body in a car at Boston Logan International Airport before boarding a flight to Kenya, his country of origin.

As of now, Kangethe has not provided any statement regarding the allegations against him.

In a shocking turn of events, Kenyan police revealed that Kangethe escaped from the Nairobi police station where he was being held on Wednesday evening and boarded public transportation.

Following this security breach, four police officers and a lawyer who met with Kangethe before his escape have been arrested, according to Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei.

The incident has been deemed “embarrassing” for Kenyan police, prompting a renewed effort to locate Kangethe.

The family of Kangethe’s girlfriend, Margaret Mbitu, informed US media that she had intended to end their relationship before her alleged murder. Mbitu, a 30-year-old Kenyan-American nurse working in Massachusetts, was last seen leaving her workplace on October 30th last year.

Her disappearance was reported on the same day, and her body was discovered two days later. Authorities suspect Kangethe fled the US during the period between Mbitu’s disappearance and the discovery of her body.

Security footage captured Kangethe leaving the airport parking lot where Mbitu’s body was found, further linking him to the crime. He departed on a flight the morning after Mbitu went missing.

A Kenyan court was scheduled to decide on Friday whether Kangethe would be prosecuted in Kenya or extradited to the US to face first-degree murder charges. Kangethe claimed to have renounced his US citizenship last year.
