Trump tax return leaker receives maximum imprisonment

A person who used to work for the US tax department has been given a five-year prison sentence for giving out Donald Trump’s private tax information to the news.

Charles Littlejohn, who is 38 years old, has to be supervised for three years after he is released and he also has to pay a $5,000 fine for what he did.

Littlejohn took tax information from many rich people while he was working for the IRS.

A judge said on Monday that it was an attack on our country’s basic rules.

More update on this story soon.

Carroll plans to invest $83 million on “something Trump hates”

E Jean Carroll wants to use some of the $83. 3 million she won in her case against former President Donald Trump to spend on something that he doesn’t like.

She was very scared to go to court against Mr. Trump, but when she saw him, her fear went away.

Before the trial, a judge decided that Mr. Trump had hurt her reputation by saying that her accusation of sexual assault against him was not true.

He was held responsible last year for sexually abusing Ms. Carroll in the 1990s. The jury did not believe that she was raped.

Mr Trump said he will try to change the court’s decision because he believes it is very unfair.

Ms Carroll, who is 80 years old, said to ABC News on Monday that she wants to give the money to something that Donald Trump doesn’t like.

“If giving money to certain things will hurt him, then that’s what I want to do. ”

The writer of the magazine recommended using the money to help women who were sexually attacked by Donald Trump.

Many women have said that the old president hurt them, forced them into sexual things, and bothered them sexually starting from the 1970s. He says he didn’t do anything wrong.

Ms Carroll said that Mr Trump did something wrong to her in the dressing room of a fancy store in Manhattan in the 1990s.

The person being interviewed on Monday said she had a hard time eating and sleeping before the trial. She was sitting next to her lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, during the interview.

However, she said she felt less anxious when she saw him in court.

“I saw outside,” she said. “He was there, and it seemed like he had nothing on – like an emperor with no clothes. ”

Ms Carroll told ABC that some of the people who make decisions in the court smiled at her when they left. They decided to give her $18. 3m to make up for her losses and $65m as punishment.

“It made me cry because they looked into my eyes for the first time,” she said.

Mr Trump, who is 77 years old, has to start paying Ms. Carroll, as stated by her lawyer, unless there is an appeal.

Ms Kaplan said that Mr Trump would need to get a bond so he doesn’t have to pay all of the $83. 3 million at once.

However, he would also need to borrow a large amount of money from a bank and pay interest on it.

Mr Trump could also just put $83. 3 million in the court.

Last year, he had to pay $5. 5 million for saying bad things about Ms Carroll. He paid all the money.

If he doesn’t do what he’s supposed to, Ms Carroll can start collecting money right away. Ms Kaplan said she is sure he will eventually pay.

Watch Chairman Wontumi invoke curses in Manhyia Palace

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has indicated that to prove his innocence after being accused of disrespecting the Ashanti kingdom, he swore an oath.

Chairman Wontumi for the umpteenth time, pleaded innocent over allegations of derogatory remarks against the Ashanti Kingdom.

He arrived at Manyhia Palace on Monday to engage members of the Kumasi Traditional Council where he admitted to going to the extreme in his attempt to show his loyalty to the Ashanti Kingdom.

“Everybody knows that I am tough on politicians, but I can never disrespect royalties. I can never say those things. It is not true that I spew those words. That is why I decided to swear and let the outcome of my oath determine my innocence,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi has been on the wanted list of the second-highest decision-making body of the Asante Kingdom, comprising traditional leaders.

On Thursday, January 22, 2024, the Kumasi Traditional Council directed the NPP, led by its General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, to produce Chairman Wontumi for an appearance regarding alleged derogatory remarks against the Asantehene.

This directive follows a confrontation between Mr. Antwi Boasiako and the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Dua, during the recent vetting of parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti region.

Subsequently, Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Dua accused Chairman Wontumi of cursing him by refencing Antoa during a phone call with NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK).

Despite Chairman Wontumi’s denial of the accusations, he was invited by the traditional council for a hearing, which he failed to attend citing health reasons.

The NPP national leadership, seeking more time, appeared before the Council and was instructed to ensure Chairman Wontumi’s presence within one week.

And before the Council today, he reiterated his earlier submission that he never insulted the Ashanti kingdom as alleged.

Following his statement, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been cleared of allegations of disrespecting the Ashanti stool.

Confusion rocks PAC meeting as Sam George asks of age of GRA Commissioner

Confusion gripped the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting held today, January 29, 2024, when Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Hon. Sam George,  posed a question on the age of the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah appeared before the Committee with the Deputy Finance Minister, Hon Abena Osei-Asare, to respond to questions on some infractions.

During the meeting Mr Nartey George asked when the Commissioner-General attained the age of 60. First, Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, interjected, arguing that Sam George’s question is a “personal” one.

However, Sam George defended his question, arguing that the Finance Minister came before Parliament to inform the House on behalf of President Akufo-Addo that he [President] was no longer going to give contract extensions to people above the age of 60, especially when their expertise was not scarce.

“And so if I ask a question that which year did the Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority attain the age of 60, it is not a personal question, it is not a personal question [because] he is a public servant,” he added.

After this clarification, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon Abena Osei-Asare, also mounted a defense for the GRA boss, arguing that the question is not a public interest question but the chairman of the committee, James Klutse Avedzi, insisted that the Commissioner General should answer the question.

  • People paying between $20k and $100k to preserve dead bodies with the hope future resurrection

People paying between $20k and $100k to preserve dead bodies with the hope future resurrection

Some individuals apparently are choosing to invest substantial amounts, ranging from $20,000 to $100,000, in cryonics – a process that involves preserving deceased bodies at ultra-low temperatures with the hope of future resurrection.

According to reports making rounds, some 199 ‘legally dead’ individuals and 100 pets await being revived by cryonics.

Cryonics is a practice at the forefront of unconventional science that hinges on the belief that future advancements in medical technology may unlock the key to reviving those who have succumbed to currently incurable diseases or conditions.

It involves the freezing of deceased individuals shortly after death in anticipation of future advancements in medical technology that may facilitate their revival.

Advocates of cryonics argue that future breakthroughs in science and medicine could bring back those who have succumbed to currently incurable diseases or conditions.

The procedure, offered by specialized companies, involves the rapid cooling of the deceased body to temperatures around -196 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen.

This process is aimed at preserving cells and tissues to minimize damage during the freezing and thawing stages, ultimately with the goal of future revival.

While the concept may sound like something out of science fiction, there are individuals who see cryonics as a potential lifeline. The price tag for such an ambitious venture varies, with costs ranging from $20,000 to $100,000, depending on the chosen preservation plan and additional services provided.

Despite the controversy, cryonics companies report an increase in interest and enrollment, indicating a growing fascination with the prospect of conquering death through technological means.

  • Sudan border: Dozens killed in clashes in contested Abyei region

Sudan border: Dozens killed in clashes in contested Abyei region

More than 50 people, including peacekeepers from the United Nations, have been killed in attacks in a disputed area between South Sudan and Sudan, according to the United Nations.

It is the most dangerous event in three years of fighting in the oil-rich area of Abyei.

Two groups with weapons attacked Abyei on Saturday, the local government said.

The next day, peacekeepers got shot at while taking injured people to the hospital, according to the UN.

South Sudan and Sudan share control over Abyei, but both say it belongs to them. They have not settled this disagreement since South Sudan became independent in 2011.

The fighting on the weekend is said to be because of a land disagreement between two groups of the Dinka people – the Ngok and Twic – from Abyei and South Sudan’s Warrap state.

According to officials in the Abyei Special Administrative Area, a group of “rebels” teamed up with armed young people from the Twic faction and carried out several “brutal coordinated attacks” starting on Saturday morning.

Forty-two people, mostly women and children, were killed on the first day of the attacks, according to the government.

On Saturday, a Ghanaian peacekeeper died, according to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (Unisfa). They want a quick investigation into the violence.

Unifsa also said that on Sunday, more peacekeepers were shot at while taking hurt people from a Unifsa base to a hospital.

A Pakistani peacekeeper died, and “four soldiers and one local person were injured”, the report said.

Unifsa said on Monday that 52 people have died and 64 are severely injured, according to local authorities.

According to the AFP news agency, Rou Manyiel Rou, who is the secretary general for the Abyei Special Administrative Area, said on Saturday that the fighting was connected to a long-standing disagreement between the Ngok and Twic (Dinka) communities.

The UK, Norway, and the United States, who helped South Sudan become independent, have said they are very worried about increasing violence between communities in Abyei.

The statement said that leaders who have power to make a difference in their communities but don’t use it to promote peace are not looking out for their people.

Last year in November, there were fights that killed 32 people, including a United Nations peacekeeper. These new attacks happened over the weekend and were very deadly.

  • US soldier death increases pressure on Biden

US soldier death increases pressure on Biden

The killing of three American soldiers and hurting many more makes the situation worse in a region where tensions are already high. It also adds to the pressure on President Joe Biden.

This is the first time that American soldiers have been killed by enemy fire since the Israel-Gaza war started.

This is the first time that Washington has to make a difficult decision during the crisis. They need to decide where and how to attack Iran.

Washington will want to send a very clear message to Tehran because it thinks Tehran is responsible for the fires in many countries, like Lebanon and Yemen. However, it will also try to prevent making the situation worse by starting a cycle of attacks and counterattacks.

This moment feels like it was bound to happen. From middle of October, US army bases in Iraq and Syria keep getting attacked by groups supported by Iran. More and more US soldiers are getting hurt. The US has struck back at least eight times by attacking places in both countries. It was just a matter of time before American people died in this risky battlefield.

In his first reply, President Biden clearly stated who is responsible this time. The drone attack on Tower 22, a small post near Jordan’s border with Syria, was done by “extreme groups supported by Iran, who are active in Syria and Iraq. ”

Iran says it did not do it. The foreign ministry spokesman said that the groups Iran supports do not follow Iran’s orders when they make decisions about helping Palestine.

Iran’s friends in this area have all learned and been given weapons by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) or been told how to get weapons for themselves.

In recent years, a group of radical organizations in the “axis of resistance” have become closer, and the Israel-Gaza conflict has made this group stronger.

But every actor has its own power and ability to act, and its own goals and desires. In Iraq, a lot of the attacks seem to have been done by a group called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. Counterattacks are made harder because some of the people involved are also in Iraq’s military.

In the last few months, the US has attacked Iranian buildings in the area, like a training base in Syria and a place where they keep weapons.

This time, the goal is to target something that will hurt Iran a lot, to show that the US is strong in this area and at home.

During an election year, President Biden’s opponents are using this crisis to say he is not strong against Iran.

“It’s very hard and complicated,” said Fawaz Gerges, a professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science, when talking to the BBC. “Every situation has results. ”

Out of all the options, attacking Iran directly is the most dangerous choice. This would be the first time Iran was attacked since a failed attempt in 1980 to rescue American hostages taken during the Iranian revolution.

The US last did something very serious against Iran four years ago. They used a drone to attack and kill top IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad. He was said to have planned to kill American diplomats and soldiers in the region and was an important leader in creating this “axis of resistance”.

Joel Rayburn, a former US Special Envoy to Syria, said on the BBC’s Newshour programme that there needs to be something that will stop people from doing bad things, like the attack on Soleimani. If the person behind the attacks in Iran is not punished, the attacks will continue.

Iran has not attacked Israeli or American sites in response to the killing of its senior military leaders. They blame Israel for the assassinations. Iran is also facing pressure at home.

Earlier this month, for the first time, it attacked a place in Iraqi Kurdistan that it said was a base for Israel’s Mossad agency.

The US understands that it needs to show that it is taking action, and even more importantly, it needs to show that it is successful in its efforts.

Washington and its friends are in a difficult situation as the long and destructive war between Israel and Gaza continues, harming many innocent people and causing a lot of pain. Iran’s friends say they will keep fighting until there’s peace in Gaza, but Israel is still at war and won’t stop until Hamas is defeated and hostages are released.
Ain Al Asad air base is a military base for airplanes. Picture of something that was taken before.

Problems in the important shipping areas of the Red Sea are a warning sign. The US, with support from the UK and other countries, is leading a military campaign against the Houthis in Yemen. However, the Houthis are still attacking ships in a very important sea passage for global trade.

It has made the Houthi rebels more determined and brought them to the focus of the whole world.

A new report from Western intelligence says that the Houthi group has lost about 30% of their weapons. However, the Houthis, who are very good at unconventional warfare and have been able to survive nearly 10 years of airstrikes led by Saudi Arabia, think that they are winning more than they are losing.

The Houthis and their Iran-backed friends are using this crisis to make themselves look good by supporting the Palestinians in their fight against Israel. The US is trying hard to put out many problems at the same time while there is fighting in Gaza.

  • Zuma suspended by African National Congress after creation of new party

Zuma suspended by African National Congress after creation of new party

The ANC, the political party that Jacob Zuma was once in charge of, has stopped him from being a part of the party because he didn’t support them and started his own party.

The ANC made a decision on Monday.

Mr Zuma has a new party called uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK), which means “spear of the nation”. This party has the same name as the ANC’s old armed group that he used to be a part of.

He was president for nine years, from 2009 to 2018, and had a lot of problems with scandals and accusations of corruption.

The investigation found that the ex-president put his corrupt friends before his own country in a scheme called “state capture. ”

He is accused of being involved in a corrupt weapons deal from 1999. He says he didn’t do anything wrong in any situation.

In 2018, Cyril Ramaphosa became South Africa’s new President and said he would make the government better. He is now guiding a struggling ANC into this year’s national election.

    Save mission

During the launch of MK in December, a statement was read on behalf of Mr Zuma. The statement said that he will always be a member of the ANC, but he won’t vote for it. He also said that some of the leaders of the ANC are not behaving in the way that the ANC should and now he wants to “rescue” the “once-great movement”.

Mr Zuma has said mean things about the person who took over his job, Mr Ramaphosa.

The BBC’s Daniel de Simone in Johannesburg says a lot of South Africans think that Mr Zuma symbolizes the problems of the recent past and has made the ANC look bad.

However, he has the support of a large number of people. Many South Africans got very angry and broke things when he went to jail in 2021. A survey showed that almost one out of every three South Africans like him.

It is still not certain if people will support his new MK party in the election, but it may take votes away from the ANC.

The ANC started fighting against apartheid and has been in charge of South Africa since the end of white-minority rule.

Mr Zuma, 81, had always been a member of the ANC.

At 17 years old, he joined the ANC without going to school. He moved up in the ANC’s military and intelligence groups. He also held important positions in Kwa-Zulu Natal and eventually became the deputy president and then the president.

Many people think this year’s election is the most competitive since the ANC became the ruling party in 1994.

Okatakyie Afrifa ‘chides’ Chairman Wontumi over ‘reckless comment’

Controversial media personality, Okatakyie Afrifa, has launched a blistering attack on the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Afrifa’s criticisms center around Chairman Wontumi‘s public statements and behavior, questioning his suitability for the role of a Regional Chairman and also highlighting concerns about his influence on the youth.

In a video making rounds on social media, Afrifa asserted that Chairman Wontumi’s wealth, rather than merit, secured his position as the Ashanti Regional Chairman.

He expressed disapproval of Wontumi’s conduct, particularly citing his “reckless” remarks in public, which Afrifa believes undermine his role as a political leader and set a negative example for the youth.

“If not for the fact that Wontumi is wealthy, would anyone want his/her child to be like him? When he goes on TV, he speaks recklessly. How can he be the regional chairman of one of the biggest political parties in Ghana and behave that way?” Afrifa questioned, suggesting that Chairman Wontumi is better suited for a position as a constituency organizer.

Afrifa’s criticism coincides with reports that Chairman Wontumi has been summoned by the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The summons reportedly follows Wontumi’s alleged challenge to the authority of the Asantehene during the NPP parliamentary primaries vetting committee sitting.

During the vetting, Wontumi is said to have without provocation asserted his independence, stating that he has established his own kingdom and would not hesitate to challenge the Asantehene if they disagreed on an issue.

Parliament will surely probe this astonishing budget – Ablakwa on AFCON budget

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called for a Parliamentary probe into Ghana’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) budget.

The call comes after the MP released documents suggesting that the government allocated a substantial sum of US$8,506,450 for the Black Stars’ involvement in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Per the leaked document, the Black Stars would have earned US$7 million if the team had won the AFCON.

For Mr Ablakwa, it is beyond reasoning that the government would plan to spend more that it would generate from the tournament. He is also peeved by the fact that Zambia approved a total budget of only US$2.1million for its national team.

It is in view of this that he has charged Parliament to probe the said budget and the expenditure of the players at the tournament.

Mr Ablakwa in a tweet said: “It would be interesting to know what thought processes went into a scary US$8.5million budget for a bankrupt country which has defaulted on its loans and is desperately seeking an IMF bailout.”

Ghanaians ‘grill’ Dede Ayew over ‘was I the problem in Black Stars?’ comment

Ghanaians have taken the captain of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew, to the gutters over a recent remark he made on his social media page.

Dede Ayew, after scoring two beautiful goals in his first game for his club, Le Havre, following Black Stars defeat in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), posted a photo of himself and other Le Havre players, asking Ghanaians: “So, was I the problem in the Black Stars squad?”

It appears his question did not sit well with many Ghanaians who took to Twitter to express their discontent over his remark.

One user said: “Black Stars under your captaincy has nothing to write home about. If I were you I will resign and save my image.”

“That’s out of question! What about your goalkeeper? Black stars are not good enough to progress to the next level of competition. We cannot forget past history including winning FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt,” another user said.

“You were never the problem. This all started when you were introduced to the black stars in 2008. Same people complained that you don’t fit to the level of black stars. You accepted and join U-20. You proved yourself. The enemy created in your dad time has not been solved,” another user said.

Man accused in relation to death at Dublin restaurant

A man has been brought to court and accused of being involved in the death of Tristan Sherry at a restaurant in Ireland on Christmas Eve.

26-year-old Sherry was a shooter in an attack at Browne’s Steakhouse on Main Street in Blanchardstown on Sunday, December 24th. He died during the incident.

Brandon Hennessy, who is 20 years old and lives on Sheephill Avenue in Dublin, was accused of getting in a fight and using a steel-handled brush as a weapon.

The court was told that the defendant fought back after his father, Jason Hennessy, was killed in a shooting.

Another person was shot at the same restaurant where the incident happened before. He was called Jason Hennessy Snr and he died on January 4th.

In court on Friday, a police officer said Mr Hennessy didn’t say anything when he was charged just before 9:00 PM on Sunday.

When asked what happened, the officer said there was a problem at Browne’s Steakhouse and “this man was with a group of other men. ”

The lawyer told the court that his father was killed, and it is claimed that he took revenge on the person who killed him.

  • ChatGPT violates data standards – Italian watchdog

ChatGPT violates data standards – Italian watchdog

An Italian watchdog says that ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot, has broken rules about keeping data safe.

Italy’s Data Protection Authority (DPA) looked into a situation and found that there were privacy problems with how data was being handled. However, it didn’t say exactly what the problems were.

The chatbot started in 2022 and needs a lot of information from the internet to work.

OpenAI, the company that made ChatGPT, has 30 days to give its response. The BBC has reached out to OpenAI for a statement.

Italy has strongly supported protecting data when it comes to ChatGPT.

It was the first country in the Western region to stop the product in March 2023 because they were worried about people’s privacy.

ChatGPT was allowed again about four weeks later, after saying it had fixed the problems the DPA had brought up.

Italy’s data protection authority started an investigation and found that there have been privacy breaches.

In a statement, the DPA said that they found evidence showing that there were violations of the rules in the EU GDPR.

Under the EU’s GDPR law, companies that don’t follow the rules can be fined up to 4% of their total income.

Italy’s Data Protection Authority (DPA) is working with the European Union’s European Data Protection Board to keep an eye on ChatGPT. They created a special team to do this in April 2023.

When ChatGPT was allowed again in Italy in April 2023, the Italian regulator told the BBC that they were happy with the changes OpenAI made, but they wanted even more rules to be followed.

A person speaking for the company said they want to do more to check people’s ages and tell Italians about their right to not have their personal information used for training computers.

An OpenAI representative said they would keep talking with the regulator.

OpenAI is closely connected to the big company Microsoft, which has put a lot of money into it.

Microsoft has added AI to its Bing search engine and to its Office 365 apps like Word, Teams, and Outlook.

Over 50 killed along border between Sudan and South Sudan

More than 50 people, including two peacekeepers from the UN, have died in a big fight at the border between South Sudan and Sudan, according to officials.

Men with weapons from Warrap State in South Sudan attacked the Abyei region on Saturday, according to Abyei information minister Bulis Koch. Reuters news agency reported this.

The reason for the attack is not known, but the Associated Press news agency said that the fighting was connected to a dispute over land between the Twic Dinka and Ngok Dinka ethnic groups.

South Sudan and Sudan both say Abyei belongs to them. They have been arguing about it since South Sudan became its own country in 2011.

The UN force in the area, also called Unisfa, said a peacekeeper from Ghana was killed on Saturday when their base was attacked.

A Pakistani peacekeeper died on Sunday when UN troops were attacked while taking injured people to the hospital.

The UN said that local officials reported 52 people were killed and 64 were badly hurt in the battle.

South African journalists observe vigil in memory of killed peers in Gaza

Many journalists in South Africa gathered together on Sunday night to remember and honor their colleagues who were killed in Gaza in the conflict with Israel.

At least 83 reporters and people who work in the media have been killed since the fighting started last October, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).

Sunday was the day when it was said.

CPJ said that the Israel-Gaza war is the worst time for journalists since they started collecting information in 1992.

“We are also honoring our coworkers in Sudan, in the Democratic Republic of Congo and anyone who is being impacted. ” “But we’ve never seen such a high number of journalists being killed in Gaza before,” said Deshnee Subramany, who organized the vigil and spoke to the state broadcaster SABC.

South Africa strongly disagrees with Israel in the current Gaza war.

Stop bringing political issues to Manhyia – Kokosohene warned

The Kumasi Traditional Council has issued a caution to Nana Kwaku Duah, the Kokosohene who is central to the case between Chairman Wontumi and the council, regarding certain remarks made by the latter.

The Council during a hearing on Monday, January 29, 2024, warned the Kokosohene to refrain from bringing political issues to the revered Manhyia Palace, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the traditional sanctity of Manhyia.

A member of the Council, speaking at the hearing, reminded the chiefs of the provision in the constitution that restricts chiefs from actively engaging in party politics, and asked them to act accordingly.

“The constitution says that chiefs should refrain from active politics… when the comments were being made Nana Kokosohene should have left the moment, he heard Wontumi say that he cannot even challenge a statement made by the Okyeame – he shouldn’t have sat there,” the chief said in Twi.

Auction of Mandela’s personal belongings postponed

The auction of Nelson Mandela’s personal items has been stopped. The items include his hearing aids, walking sticks, and reading glasses.

The auction house in New York called Guernsey’s said on their website that the auction for Mandela is stopped.

After a big fuss in South Africa, this happened.

Makaziwe Mandela, Mr Mandela’s oldest daughter, wanted to sell his things at an auction on 22 February. She said she wanted to use the money to make a special garden in his honor, close to where he was buried.

The state’s South African Heritage Resources Agency (Sahra) went to court to challenge her decision, but they lost.

It is going to ask for a different decision for the ruling.

South Africa’s Minister of Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, said stopping the sale was important because Mr. Mandela is a big part of South Africa’s history.

“He said it’s really important to keep former President Mandela’s legacy alive and make sure that future generations in the country can learn from his experiences and work. ”

Ndaba, Mr Mandela’s grandson, told local media that he also didn’t support the auction.

Mr Mandela’s identification book was also one of the things for sale.

“Who is selling their father’s ID book. ”

That’s crazy “You’re stealing South Africa’s history,” he said to News24.

Nelson Mandela passed away in 2013 when he was 95 years old.

He was put in jail for almost 30 years for fighting against a government where white people were in charge, and then in 1994, he became the first black president of South Africa. He left his position five years later.

Town manager in Maine drowns after saving son

A man who manages a town in Maine died after he and his four-year-old son fell into a frozen pond close to their house.

Kevin Howell, who is 51 years old and lives in Carmel, pulled his son out of the water and told him to go get his mother, according to the local sheriff’s office.

Katie Howell went to the water with an anchor and rope, but she fell through the ice and had to be saved.

Her husband disappeared and was found in the water hours later.

Mr Howell was a really good guy who cared about the community, according to Daniel Frye who lives in the town.

“He always wanted to improve the town. ”

The leader of the town and his son, Sawyer, were taking a walk when something happened on Friday morning, at 6:30 am.

After Howell helped his son back onto the ice, the boy ran about one-third of a mile to tell his mother at home.

She called for help and tried to help her husband, but she also fell into Etna Pond and couldn’t get out.

Detective Jordan Norton was nearby when he heard a call for help. He went onto the dangerous ice and brought Mrs. Howell to safety.

But Howell was nowhere to be found even when the Maine Warden Service and the Carmel Fire Department came to help.

Two divers who work for the warden service found the town manager’s body in the early afternoon, just before 2:00 pm local time (7:00 pm GMT).

The Howells moved to Carmel in 2014. Carmel is a small town with less than 3,000 people, about 16 miles west of Bangor.

“His death is a great sadness for the town. ”

Mr Howell was in charge of running the town and making sure all the town departments were doing their jobs. He also had to prepare and present the yearly budget.

He got an award in 2018 for helping to make the town’s recycling better, and then again in 2020 for doing new and brave things as a public manager.

The website of the town said he liked making things out of wood, doing winter sports, growing his family’s farm, and cooking for his family and friends.

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been cleared of allegations of disrespecting the Ashanti stool.

Earlier, he was scheduled to meet the Council; however, due to ill health, as disclosed by the Leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he was unable to do so. An ultimatum for Mr. Wontumi to appear before the council by January 29, 2024, was issued, of which he honored.

It was at the January 29 meeting with the chiefs that Chairman Wontumi was cleared of any wrongdoing.

A video shared by Kumasi-based Oyerepa TV showed the Chiefs addressing the matter. In the said video, one of the chiefs argued in favor of Wontumi and further cleared him of any wrongdoing.

He further cautioned the accuser, Kokosuhene, Nana Kwaku Duah, to refrain from bringing political issues to the Manhyia Palace.

“The constitution says that chiefs should refrain from active politics… when the comments were being made Nana Kokosohene should have left the moment, he heard Wontumi say that he cannot even challenge a statement made by the Okyeame – he shouldn’t have sat there,” the chief said in Twi.

The chief also said that Wontumi limited himself to a political kingdom which means his statement was only about the NPP and not Asantehene and the Asantehene.

Los Alerces: National park in Argentina engulfed in wildfire

Over 100 firefighters are working hard to put out a forest fire in Chubut province in southern Argentina.

A big fire started on Thursday at Los Alerces national park in northern Patagonia. The park is a special place with very big alerce trees and it is a World Heritage site protected by Unesco.

Governor Ignacio Torres said that the fire was started on purpose and has burned over 1,000 hectares.

He said that the smoke was making it hard for aerial firefighters to see and do their job.

The fire got bigger because the area was really hot. The temperatures rose to 40C (104F) in the port city of San Antonio Oeste.

Mario Cárdenas, the head of the fire department at Los Alerces, said that the fire had moved from the park to the nearby areas.

He said the fire was still not under control, but more firefighters were coming to help.

The national park called Los Alerces has trees that are very old and can grow really tall, up to 45m (150ft) or even more.

The park is really big, almost 260,000 hectares. Its important for protecting the Patagonian Forest.

The head of the park, Danilo Hernández Otaño, said the fire started in two different places that were close to each other.

MrHernandez also said that it was intentionally placed and not an accident.

“The people who caused the fire will have to go to court,” said Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres.

Old video of NDC MP spraying cash resurfaces

A video from the past depicting a Member of Parliament (MP) affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) engaging in the act of spraying cash has recently resurfaced.

The video features Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr, Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East Constituency in the Central Region and a prominent figure within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was captured displaying wads of cash intended for distribution among her constituents at a party function.

Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr, who previously served as the Central Regional Minister under the Mahama-led NDC administration, is observed raising bundles of Ghana Cedis in public while addressing a crowd.

The footage has led to accusations of attempting to sway the voting choices of her constituents through what some interpret as inducements.

In the video, Sawyerr is heard stating, “This one is 100 million, another 100 million and another 100 million which brings the total to 300 million. This is 50 million, another 50, and the rest is 100 million, and the grand total is 500 million.” She goes on to emphasize the importance of party leaders personally handling the distribution of the funds to avoid any impropriety.

  • Largest aid organisation in Gaza “desperate” after funding stopped

Largest aid organisation in Gaza “desperate” after funding stopped

Several countries have ceased funding the largest UN organization in Gaza due to accusations against some staff members for their alleged involvement in the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel. This is making the crisis in Gaza worse.

Japan and Austria have decided to temporarily stop giving money to the UN agency that helps Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.

The US, UK, Germany, and Italy have also stopped giving money.

UNRWA told the media that they are very desperate and that the needs for help in Gaza are getting bigger all the time.

The company fired some of its employees because they were accused of being involved in an incident on 7 October, when Hamas fighters entered Israel, killing about 1,300 people – most of whom were not military and taking about 250 others as hostages back to Gaza.

More than 26,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza since Israel started a big military operation. Hamas runs the health ministry in the territory. Another 17 million people have left their homes, and many of them are staying at UNRWA buildings for shelter.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he is really upset by the accusations, but he asked donor countries to make sure that UNRWA can keep working.

On Sunday, he said that 9 out of the 12 people involved were fired by the UNRWA’s leader. One person has died and they are figuring out who the other 2 people are.

He said Gaza should not be punished. Because of the current funding, in February the agency will not have enough money to help all of the two million people in Gaza who rely on it for important assistance.

Japan’s foreign ministry said on Sunday that they are very worried about UNRWA staff members being involved in a terror attack on Israel. They have decided to stop giving money to UNRWA.

It said it had been pushing UNRWA to look into the claims quickly and thoroughly.

In 2022, Japan is the sixth highest contributor to UNRWA.

On Monday, Austria also said it wants a thorough and fast investigation into the accusations.

Juliette Touma, who is in charge of talking to people for UNRWA, told our reporters that the claims were very serious. She also said that Mr. Lazzarini did something very unusual by firing the staff members right away.

We are very, very worried. “It came at a time when the people in Gaza need help more and more,” she said. She also mentioned that she had been to Gaza herself last week.

“People are still being forced to leave their homes and move somewhere else. ” People don’t have enough food to eat. The clock is moving quickly towards a food shortage.

We are doing everything we can to prevent famine. “We don’t have enough money because the biggest donors have stopped giving for now. This will have a very big impact on the important work we are doing to help people in Gaza. ”

She said UNRWA hasn’t seen the proof, but the claims are being looked into by the UN’s oversight office in New York.

On Friday, a person who gives advice to the leader of Israel told the media that the Hamas attacks on 7 October involved “people who are getting paid by UNRWA”.

Mark Regev said there was evidence that teachers at UNRWA schools were openly celebrating the attacks that happened on October 7th.

Sudan’s RSF claims to have shot down Iranian-made drone

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan shot down a drone made in Iran that they say belonged to the Sudanese army. There is fighting between the two groups in the capital city Khartoum and other places.

    The team announced on X.

Twitter said that it successfully stopped and brought down a flying robot operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces and their extremist supporters.

“The Iranian Mohajer-6 aircraft was stopped by our brave soldiers, making it the third drone to be neutralized recently. ” “Even though we are doing well, we still have problems to deal with,” it said.

The army hasn’t said anything about the incident yet.

The local news says the army is using more drones to attack RSF bases in Khartoum, Omdurman, and Bahri.

The army has started to bomb the RSF more often in the last few weeks as the fighting in the country has been going on for nine months.

  • Evergrande: Chinese real estate behemoth ordered to liquidate

Evergrande: Chinese real estate behemoth ordered to liquidate

The court in Hong Kong has told the struggling Chinese real estate company Evergrande to sell off its assets and pay its debts.

Judge Linda Chan said “stop doing this” because the developer kept failing to come up with a plan to fix its debts.

The company is a big example of China’s real estate problem because it owes more than $300 billion.

Two years ago, when Evergrande couldn’t pay its debts, it caused a big problem for financial markets around the world.

Evergrande’s executive director, Shawn Siu, said it’s sad, but the company will still do business in China.

The company’s branch in Hong Kong was separate from its business in mainland China, he said in a statement.

We don’t know yet how the ruling will affect Evergrande’s home building business. But the company’s crisis has already left many home buyers waiting for their new properties.

Beijing tried to calm people’s worries about the housing problem. Many people are using social media to talk about their anger at companies like Evergrande.

The court’s decision will probably have an impact on China’s financial markets because authorities are trying to stop the stock market from falling.

The property sector in China makes up about 25% of the world’s second largest economy.

Evergrande’s stock dropped by over 20% in Hong Kong after the news came out on Monday. Buying and selling of stocks has stopped for now.

Liquidation means when a company’s things are taken and sold. The money earned can be used to pay off any money owed.

However, whether this happens may depend on the Chinese government and the liquidation order doesn’t necessarily mean that Evergrande will go out of business and fail.

Before Monday’s decision, China’s highest court and Hong Kong’s Department of Justice made an agreement to acknowledge and uphold civil and business judgments from both mainland China and Hong Kong.

However, experts are not sure if the change that started on Monday will affect Evergrande’s liquidation order.

The company asked for more time to make a new plan to change their business. They asked for three more months, but only asked for it on Friday at 4pm.

Judge Chan said the new plan is not really a plan and is not well thought-out.

In June 2022, a company called Top Shine Global from Hong Kong, who is an investor in Evergrande, took Evergrande to court. They said that Evergrande did not keep their promise to buy back shares.

But they only deserve a small amount of Evergrande’s huge debts.

Most of the money Evergrande owes is to lenders in China and they have limited ways to ask for their money back.

People who lend money from other countries can take legal action against Evergrande in Hong Kong, where the company is listed, instead of in mainland China.

After a winding up order, the directors of the companies will no longer be in charge.

The court would probably choose a temporary liquidator, who could be a government worker or a professional from a company like Deloitte, says Derek Lai, who is in charge of handling bankruptcies at Deloitte.

After talking to the people the company owes money to, a person will be chosen to handle the closing of the company in a few months.

However, most of Evergrande’s belongings are in mainland China and there are difficult legal issues despite the slogan “one country, two systems. ”

China and Hong Kong have an agreement to accept the appointment of liquidators. However, Mr Lai says that only two out of six applications have been approved by the courts in three pilot areas in mainland China. The Chinese Communist Party wants to make sure that developers stay in business so that people who bought homes before they were built can still get what they paid for.

This means Beijing might decide to ignore the Hong Kong court’s decision.

Mr Lai says that even if the liquidator is accepted in both Hong Kong and mainland China, they have to obey the laws of mainland China when doing liquidation work there.

The parent company’s order to sell off assets right away doesn’t mean that Evergrande’s building projects will stop right now.

Nigel Trayers, who helps companies reorganize at Grant Thornton, says not all the smaller companies will be shut down. Some of them could be taken over by liquidators.

“But they would have to either close the subsidiaries or become the directors of those subsidiaries,” he says.

“To do this, they have to go through each level of the company and there might be some difficulties when they actually try to do it. ”

Mr Lai says that if a company is broke, it’s unlikely that creditors will get all their money back.

People who are owed money from other countries probably won’t get paid before people who are owed money from the same country.

Even if Judge Chan’s rules are not followed in China, it still shows others what they could expect to happen to them.

She is in charge of Evergrande and other companies that couldn’t pay their debts, like Sunac China, Jiayuan, and Kaisa.

In May, she made the decision to close down Jiayuan because its lawyers couldn’t explain why they needed more time to work on their plan to fix the company’s debt.

Daniel Margulies, a partner at the global law firm Dechert in Hong Kong, who specializes in restructuring matters in Asia, said it’s unclear how offshore liquidators would be treated by onshore stakeholders when there are many local creditors and factors to consider.

Evergrande was trying to come up with a new way to pay back its debts, but in August last year, it officially declared that it was unable to pay its debts and filed for bankruptcy in the United States to protect its American assets while it tried to make a deal.

The next month, the chairman Hui Ka Yan was watched by the police.

Why is Mahama always engaging in politics of name calling? – Popular serial caller quizzes

Former President John Dramani Mahama has found himself under scrutiny for what some describe as a recurrent engagement in the politics of name-calling.

A prominent serial caller, Sir Obama-Pokuase, well-known for actively participating in public discourse, has raised pertinent questions regarding Mahama’s communication strategy.

Sir Obama, who has gained popularity for his insightful analyses and critiques, has recently taken Mahama to task for what he perceives as a consistent pattern of employing derogatory language in political interactions.

In a tweet, Sir Obama questioned the rationale behind what he described as a persistent engagement in politics of name calling by Mr Mahama.

“Why is Mahama always engaging in politics of name-calling?” he asked.

Giving instances to buttress his claim, he noted that: “Last week, in Kumasi, he referred to President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia as “Jack Toronto and his kid brother,” emphasising that, “this is not the first time he’s doing that.

“In the lead up to 2016 elections, he used to reference then candidate Akufo-Addo as “Opana”, meanwhile, Nana, on all political platforms refer to him as “Yɛnwura Mahama”, to wit, “Our Dearest Mahama.” It is about time he stopped the petty jokes! 2024 elections is going to be about policies and track records, not name-calling,” he stated.

  • UNRWA: UN Gaza aid agency faces diplomatic challenges

UNRWA: UN Gaza aid agency faces diplomatic challenges

In Gaza, a small area of land is being depleted and harmed, with only a handful of international aid organizations able to provide assistance.- They are joined by the United Nations.

The Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, or UNRWA, started in 1949. It helps Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. It takes care of 700,000 Palestinians who had to leave their homes when Israel was created.

The person in charge of the agency said that the help that two million people in Gaza depend on might stop because some Western governments are stopping their funding. They are doing this because they think some UNRWA staff were part of the attacks on Israel on 7th October.

The mission runs shelters for people who have been forced to leave their homes and gives out the aid that Israel allows. But it also does other important things. UNRWA gives Gaza important things like buildings and everyday items that it has really needed because there has been a lot of fighting, blockades, and poverty for a long time.

It runs hospitals and schools, including places where teachers are trained, and almost 300 elementary schools. It also makes the books that teach young Palestinians. In Gaza, it gives jobs to 13,000 people. As the largest UN organization working in Gaza, it has been very important in helping people in need.

And it has also become something that politicians argue about and use for their own gain over the years. Israel doesn’t like that it exists because it makes Palestinians feel like they can still return to the land they were forced to leave in 1948.

A list of the 10 countries that gave the most money to Unrwa in 2022, with the United States in first place. In that year, it gave away $343. 9 million (£270 million).

The situation of refugees is very important in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Many Palestinians have a dream of going back to the land of historic Palestine, which is now in Israel.
‘Hate and intolerance’ mean disliking and not accepting others who are different from you.

Additionally, Israeli leaders have criticized the agency’s education and books because they believe they promote anti-Israel beliefs.

In 2022, IMPACT-se, a group in Israel, said that UNRWA’s school books told students that Israel was trying to erase Palestinian culture, steal and change their history, and eliminate the cultural history of Jerusalem. They also said that the UNRWA promoted hate and intolerance and was not neutral.

The European Commission found bad and violent material in the schoolbooks that promoted hate against Jewish people. The European Parliament keeps saying that the European Union should only give money to the Palestinian Authority if they stop including harmful material. UNRWA says that reports about its school books were wrong and that most of the books mentioned were not used in its schools.

In 2018, Donald Trump’s administration, who strongly supports Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stopped giving money to UNRWA because they thought it had too many problems and couldn’t be fixed.

Now, because some Western governments have stopped giving money, the agency could be in big trouble again. This could affect the 5. 3 million Palestinian refugees who are helped by the agency. The US is the biggest donor, giving around $340 million in 2022. Germany has stopped giving money too. They have sent $162 million that year.

Israel has been saying for a long time that some parts of the UN are unfair, against Jewish people, and even worse. The government is using this chance to improve its argument and change the focus, as it is getting a lot of criticism for the war in Gaza.

Israel’s friends in the West can use this opportunity to show they support Israel, but also want its government to stop the offensive.

Even though the money has been stopped, the White House National Security Adviser John Kirby made sure to say that the actions of a few staff members should not make the whole agency look bad. He also said the agency has helped save thousands of lives in Gaza. “They do very important jobs. ”

Israel’s foreign minister said that UNRWA is linked to Hamas and should not help rebuild Gaza after the conflict. This raises the question: If the United Nations can’t help, then who will.

Iran disputes any role in strike that claimed US military troops

Iran has refuted claims of carrying out a drone strike on a US base near Jordan’s border with Syria, which resulted in the deaths of three American soldiers.

The US said that “extreme Iranian-supported militant groups” were responsible for the attack that hurt many people.

The US President Joe Biden promised to get back at the people who did something bad and said, “We will take action. ”

This is the first time that US soldiers have been killed in the area since the war in Gaza started because of Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7th.

Other US bases in the area have been attacked before, but no one had died until Sunday, as per the US military.

The group called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq says they were responsible for the attack.

The umbrella group started in late 2023 and is made up of a few Iran-related armed groups working in Iraq. It said it did other attacks on US soldiers recently.

The group said it attacked three US bases in Syria and Jordan: Shaddadi, Rukban, and Tanf, and an Israeli oil facility in the Mediterranean.

The Iraqi government has criticized the attack and asked for the violence in the Middle East to stop.

Bassem al-Awadi, a spokesperson for the government of Iraq, said they are open to working together to make basic rules to stop more problems in the area and lessen fighting.

Mr Biden said the US will make sure that anyone who is responsible will be held accountable, in a way and time that we decide.

Iran said it did not support the militant groups accused of the strike, despite what the US and Britain said.

Nasser Kanaani, a spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, said that Iran doesn’t make the decisions for groups that fight for Palestinians or their own countries.

The White House told Mr. Biden about the attack on Sunday morning. The news was given by US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and other officials.

MrBiden said that Jill and I are sad with the families and friends of our fallen soldiers and all Americans for the loss of these warriors in a terrible and completely unfair attack.

Officials are still telling the families of the servicemen who were hurt or killed, so we don’t know their names yet.

During a trip to South Carolina, Mr. Biden said that things were difficult in the Middle East the previous night. “We lost three brave people. ”

US officials said that 34 soldiers are being checked for possible brain injuries. Some of them were taken to a hospital for more treatment.

They also said that the drone hit the place where people live at the base. If this is true, it could explain why so many people were hurt.

US Central Command and President Biden stated that the attack happened on a base in Rukban, northeastern Jordan, close to the border with Syria. US officials later called it Tower 22.

In December, people in charge of the United States said that military bases in Iraq and Syria were attacked 97 times since October 17th.

In the past month, the US did attacks on groups connected to Iran after three US soldiers got hurt, one very badly, in a drone attack on a base in northern Iraq.

In January, a US attack in Baghdad killed a militia leader who was accused of attacking American soldiers.

During an interview on ABC News that was shown on Sunday, Gen CQ Brown, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that America’s goal in the region is to prevent the conflict from getting worse.

“We want to stop them from causing trouble, and we don’t want the situation to become even more serious and lead to a bigger fight in the area. ”

American and other allied soldiers are now in the Red Sea because the Houthis, who are supported by Iran, have been attacking ships there. The group from Yemen is attacking ships in the area to help Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel is fighting against Hamas.

The US military said that these wrong actions are not related to the fighting in Gaza.

“The Houthis have shot at the Red Sea without caring who they hit, affecting over 40 countries’ ships,” according to US Central Command.

Two Navy Seals are believed to have died after they disappeared in January while on a mission near Somalia to take Iranian weapons headed for Houthis in Yemen.

Maurice Ampaw drops bombshell about one Ashanti chief

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has accused one Ashanti chief of making advances towards his wife.Narrating his ordeal, he claimed there was a time when the said chief who hails from the Ashanti region attempted to take away his wife under controversial circumstances.

He further disclosed that he got upset over the matter and issued a stern warning to the chief to stay away from his wife or risk being exposed publicly.During an interview, Maurice Ampaw stated that he would petition Otumfuo to deal with the chief in question because his action tarnishes the image of the Ashanti kingdom.

“Some Asante chiefs are womanizers. I am saying this because I have confronted one Ashanti chief who wanted to snatch my wife. Afterwards, I warned him to stay away from my wife otherwise I would expose him to the public and it became an issue.”

Because of this issue, I will petition Asantehene when he returns to the country because he is the only person I can trust. I will present him the evidence and my wife is willing to testify,” he said.

Maurice Ampaw has come under scrutiny in recent times when he made derogatory remarks about Chiefs in the Ashanti region following their feud with Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

After he was summoned by the chiefs to answer questions concerning his remarks, Maurice Ampaw publicly claimed that he would not show up because he had already been judged.

It remains to be seen whether Maurice Ampaw will show up or not.

  • Stop the cheap tribal politics – Adomako Baafi fires Fiifi Kwetey

Stop the cheap tribal politics – Adomako Baafi fires Fiifi Kwetey

Former Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party, Yaw Adomako Baafi has accused the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Kwetey of inciting tribes in the country against each other.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, Mr Adomako Baafi said the NDC scribe is still a ‘neophyte’ in the political game hence his tendency to always play the tribal card.

“Some of us used to be like him but we have now mature so he should also learn to grow in the game and stop always inciting one tribe, especially the Ewes against the other, particularly the Akans because of cheap politics…,” he said.

The former Ketu South Member of Parliament (MP) has since his election as General Secretary of the NDC been inciting his tribesmen (Ewe) against the Asantes and Akyems insisting that the NPP belongs to the later tribes and hence there is no need for the Ewes to support such a party.

Fiifi Kwetey in a viral video had claimed that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would be ‘dreaming if he thinks the NPP is going to make him, a Northerner, their flagbearer since he is neither Akyem nor an Asante’.

He again called on the people of the Volta Region to do everything within their power to stop their children and the youth of the Volta Region from making independent political choices and to compel them to accept the NDC in spite of all the challenges that are confronting the party that may make it unattractive to the new generation in the region.

“It looks as if it is wrong for us, Volta people, to take NDC as a religion. There is nothing wrong with that. Some of our young people from Volta, think it is something of pride to say as for us we are not like our fathers and uncles, we believe we should not [just accept something they believe in, and that it is something of pride to choose to be independent minded].

“This party [NDC] may not be the perfect party. It may not be a party that has always delivered on all its promises, but it is our responsibility to ensure that our children remain loyal to this commission to be able to make it better, Fiifi Kwetey is heard saying in a voice recording.

“If you watch what happens in Ashanti and the Eastern Region, they understand that their party must be their party, and nothing changes. Somehow, they appreciate that they must not forsake their party because this must become a religion. Your religion may not be the best, but that is your religion, and it is your responsibility to make sure you fix it,” the NDC chief scribe added.

“I think we must let our people [Voltarians] appreciate that this is who we are. If you go to America today if you go to New York State, the democratic party is like a religion, through rain or shine, that is your political party. If you go to California, it is the same. If you go to places where the Republicans are, it is the same. There is nothing wrong with it, Mr Kwetey further stated in an audio recording.

The sentiments of Fiifi Kwetey, Yaw Adomako Baafi told host, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah were shared by some Ewe politicians who were once leading members of the NDC party.

Citing the books authored by the late Captain Adabuga and late Prof Kofi Awoonor to buttress his point, Yaw Adomako Baafi said the time is ripe for Ghanaians to nip tribal politics in the bud.

“The comments of the likes of Fiifi Kwetey must not be entertained…he is too immature but like I said, the time is up for him to grow in politics because the leaders of the various political parties are friends and have eschewed all forms of tribal differences…,” he opined.

  • Canada unlikely to use of Emergencies Act in future – Former security official

Canada unlikely to use of Emergencies Act in future – Former security official

The person in charge of national security says it’s less likely the government will have to use the Emergencies Act again to stop a protest like the trucker convoy.

Jody Thomas, the person in charge of national security and intelligence, says there is always a risk of another convoy or occupation attempt. She started her job just before the “Freedom Convoy” came to Ottawa in January 2022.

However, when she spoke to CTV’s Question Period host Vassy Kapelos, she said that the way to react is now completely changed.

“And nobody is going to underestimate them anymore,” said Thomas.

When she was asked if this means it’s less likely to use the Emergencies Act again, Thomas said yes.

“Yes, definitely for this event,” she said, talking about the trucker convoy that caused traffic jams in downtown Ottawa for three weeks and blocked some important Canada-U. SroutesBorder crossings in the beginning of 2022.

Thomas stopped working at the end of this week after working for over 35 years as a public servant, with his last job being at NSIA for the last two years. She made these comments after the Federal Court said this week that using the Emergencies Act to stop the protests was not right.

On FebruaryOn February 14, 2022, the government used the Emergencies Act for the first time. They said the protests were a threat to national security.

Federal Court Judge Richard Mosley said that the decision to move doesn’t seem to be fair or make sense.

He also said that the protests could have been handled by different government agencies and police.

“Personally, I had only been working for two or three weeks,” Thomas said. “I should have talked to different levels of government and police in a better way, maybe in a different situation. ”

“But at that time, based on what we knew and where we were, I feel sure about the decision I made and the advice I gave,” she said.

Chrystia Freeland, who is the Deputy Prime Minister, said the government will challenge the decision of the Federal Court.

Headed by Justice Paul Rouleau, the Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC) listened to over 70 people and looked at over 7,000 documents over six weeks. They found last year that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had enough reason to use the Act.

Thomas also gave evidence to the POEC.

“She said to Kapelos that we could clearly see what was happening and had good information. ” ““There were many, many people occupying Ottawa. It was getting more and more violent.

The person who was in charge of the NSIA said that there might be weapons in some of the trucks. Some of the protestors are using more extreme language. People have been arrested and charged at the Canada-U. SPeople are trying to get across the border in Coutts, Alberta, and there are also threats to other important buildings and systems.

“She said it was widespread across the country. ” “It was getting bigger, so we had to do something about it. ” To sum up, Canada was facing problems with its economy, security, and reputation.

“But what we didn’t know was just as worrying as what we did know. ” “We knew a lot,” she said.

Thomas also talked about the danger of other countries trying to interfere in Canada. There will be a public inquiry to look into this issue, starting on Monday.

She also talked about how the Canadian government deals with keeping the country safe, the danger that China poses to Canadian security, and the continuing investigation into the murder of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said last year that the Indian government might have been involved in the killing.

  • Queen Camilla pays hospital visit to King Charles after prostate surgery

Queen Camilla pays hospital visit to King Charles after prostate surgery

Queen Camilla went to see King Charles in the hospital, the day after he got treatment for a big prostate.

The King went to the London Clinic hospital near Regent’s Park on Friday morning. He had a procedure done and is doing well.

We don’t know how long he will stay there, but he is expected to stay at least until the end of this weekend.

Before the operation, he went to see the Princess of Wales, who had surgery on her stomach at the same hospital last week.

Kensington Palace said Catherine’s treatment went well, but she will not be working as a royal for a few months.

She is staying at the London Clinic over the weekend.

The Queen visited her husband on Saturday afternoon and stayed with him for about three hours.

Last week, the Palace announced that the 75-year-old King is going to have a medical procedure. He went from Sandringham to London on Thursday to get the surgery.

An enlarged prostate is a common non-cancerous problem that older men often have. About one in three men over 50 have some symptoms of it, according to the NHS.

The King’s role as head of state does not need to change because the medical treatment is not a big enough problem. There will be no need for special advisors who can take over when a king or queen is very sick.

The Palace said that the King made his diagnosis public to encourage other men to get their prostates checked. After the announcement, there was an increase in searches about enlarged prostates on the NHS website, which doctors and charities are happy about.

A person from Buckingham Palace said the King is happy to hear that his illness is helping people learn more about staying healthy. He also wants to say thank you to everyone who has sent him kind messages.

Queen Camilla went with him to the hospital in Marylebone, which is in central London, on Friday.

Before she went away, she told the people in the hospital that her husband was “doing good, thank you”.

The Queen came back on Friday night for a visit that lasted about an hour and a half.

  • Israel and Hamas have differences, despite mediators push for ceasefire agreement in Gaza

Israel and Hamas have differences, despite mediators push for ceasefire agreement in Gaza

There is a lot of pressure to make a new agreement to stop the fighting and let the hostages go, so that the people in Gaza and the remaining hostages in Israel can feel better.

So far, Qatar and Egypt have been trying to help with negotiations, but with no success so far, even with US help.

Recently, there have been more reports indicating that important progress is being made in talks between representatives from Israel and Hamas.

On Wednesday, some Israeli officials said there is a big difference on important matters.

Based on what the media found out, the biggest problem seems to be the major disagreements on how to stop the war completely.

A high-ranking Palestinian official who knows about current discussions told us that Cairo has given Hamas officials a plan with five steps.

It is said that a ceasefire will begin, and during this time, Hamas will let go of the rest of the people it is keeping captive, like women, kids, and old people.

In return, some Palestinians would be released from Israeli prisons and more much-needed help would go to Gaza.

At last, there would be a long-lasting agreement to stop fighting completely.

Our source said that if the rest of the Israeli hostages are released, more Palestinian prisoners will also be let out of prison.

It seems like they want to free some important Palestinian prisoners in return for the Israeli soldiers who are being held captive.

The Palestinian leader said that Israel wanted to keep its soldiers in place until the very end of the process.

Hamas wants Israeli troops to leave and for people to go back to their homes soon.

Other news from around the world says that Hamas wants the fighting to stop completely, but Israel is only willing to agree to a temporary break that could last for a few weeks and might be extended depending on how things change.

At a meeting on Tuesday, Majed al-Ansari, who speaks for Qatar’s foreign ministry, said that they have given some ideas to both sides and are getting responses. This makes them feel hopeful.

Later, a person from the White House named John Kirby said that the US envoy to the Middle East, Brett McGurk, was in Cairo and would keep having important talks in the area about a new agreement to bring back hostages and make sure there is a break for humanitarian help.

“Mr Kirby told reporters that the conversations are very solemn and serious. ”

In late November, there was a ceasefire for a week. During this time, 105 Israeli and foreign hostages were set free. They had been kidnapped in the Hamas attacks on 7 October, which caused the war in Gaza. More than 250 people had been kidnapped in these attacks.

Israel and Hamas are upset with each other for not agreeing to continue releasing hostages every day in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. They are blaming each other for breaking the truce.

Now, there are big differences between what is said publicly and what can be talked about in negotiations.

This week, the leader of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, said again that only “complete victory” in Gaza is acceptable.

Many people think it’s not realistic to completely destroy Hamas, the group that has been in charge of the area for 15 years.

Israel and its Western allies don’t want to give in on the idea that Hamas leaders need to be taken out of power in Gaza. They want to make sure there are no more attacks like the one three months ago that killed over 1,300 people.

This week, there were reports in the news that Israel might be willing to let important Hamas leaders in Gaza move to other countries as part of a deal to stop fighting and free hostages. However, these reports have not been confirmed. Hamas said it didn’t agree to that idea.

Over 25,000 people have been killed in Gaza, and there’s a big problem with people’s health. Many countries are asking Israel to stop fighting, and it’s getting harder for them to ignore.

At the same time, loud protests and gatherings by the families of Israeli hostages are making sure that their request to bring their loved ones back home is a top priority in the country’s politics. They have a lot of people feeling sorry for them.

The recent news from Israel saying that talks with Hamas about exchanging hostages are not making progress will make a lot of people worried.

Unidentified diplomats spoke to Israeli media and said that reports of good news are not true. They say Hamas didn’t agree to make a compromise.

With people trying to help, the best thing is that Israel and Hamas have not said they will stop talking yet.

NDC withdraws decision not to attend IPAC meetings

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has withdrawn its decision to stay out of IPAC meetings.

The decision was announced in a statement signed by the General Secretary of the party, Fiifi Kwetey.

IPAC meetings are aimed at giving the various political parties the opportunity to review election-related activities and policies, officially air their grievances and make constructive inputs.

It also serves as an advisory body to the Electoral Commission.

The leadership of the NDC boycotted IPAC meetings in 2021, citing “lack of candour, odious duplicity, and open bias that was displayed by the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission in favour of the New Patriotic Party in the conduct of the 2020 general elections.”

In its recent statement, the NDC said it has rescinded the decision after “enhanced consensus-building.”

    Below is the full statement:

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) announces its re-entry into the Inter-Party AdvisoryCommittee (IPAC).

The NDC is optimistic about the revitalization of the IPAC, drawing inspiration from the robust Consensus Building Platform established during the tenures of Dr. Afari Djan and Charlotte Osei as Chairpersons of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The party anticipates collaborative endeavours that will strengthen Ghana’s electoral system, benefiting not only individual political parties but also upholding the democratic values of the nation.

    Signed,

Biden threatens to “shut down” border if Congress approves deal

US President Joe Biden supports a Senate agreement that allows him to close the southern border if it gets too crowded.

“He said on Friday that if I have the power, I will use it as soon as I sign the bill into law. ”

Mr Biden told the lawmakers to approve the deal. He said it was the strictest and most fair changes so far.

The border deal is being challenged by people on both the right and the left.

Former President Donald Trump tried to stop the deal. He told Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson to only agree to it if it’s perfect for the border.

There has been a lot of pressure on President Biden to do something about the border between the US and Mexico as he tries to win a second term as president. He will probably compete against Mr. Trump again in the next election.

Immigration is a big topic in the election. People in Iowa and New Hampshire helped Mr. Trump win because they are worried about the border.

In December, over 9,500 people a day crossed the US-Mexico border, according to the US government.

Furthermore, some Republicans are saying that they will only give more aid to Ukraine if there is a deal made for border security. A border agreement is necessary for more money for Israel and Taiwan. Republicans in the House won’t support extra funding without it.

Mr Biden said something new and Senate leaders are trying to make some House members agree with a border deal that some of them want to cancel.

Leading Senate Republicans, such as Mitch McConnell, have encouraged them to approve it.

Mr Mc Connell said it was a special chance to get things done with a government that has different opinions, which wouldn’t happen if everyone agreed.

Mr Johnson has not indicated that he and his colleagues will agree to the deal. Earlier today, Mr. Johnson told reporters that the deal is not going to be accepted in its current form.

Passenger walks on wing after opening jet door in Mexico

A man in Mexico got arrested for opening the emergency door on a plane and walking onto the wing.

The man did something when the plane going to Guatemala City was stuck on the runway for a long time without air conditioning or water for the passengers.

The airport in Mexico said that the passenger didn’t cause any harm, but they were given to the police.

Other people on the plane wrote a statement together, saying they all supported the man.

The event happened last Thursday, at around 11:30 – about three hours after the Aeromexico flight was supposed to leave Mexico City.

The delay happened because there was a problem with maintenance, according to a report.

It said that they had to change planes because a passenger made a sudden decision without consulting others.

It is not known if the man is still in jail or what crimes he might be accused of.

Angry passengers had a different view of the incident.

“All the people on the plane from Mexico City to Guatemala, flight AM 0672, say that the person who opened the emergency window did it to keep everyone safe. They had everyone’s help because the plane was delayed and didn’t have enough air, which was dangerous for the passengers’ health,” a note from other passengers says.

“They wrote that he saved our lives and signed their names before posting it on social media. “

Statue of famous baseball player in US, Jackie Robinson stolen

The statue of famous baseball player Jackie Robinson was taken from a park in Kansas, according to the police.

The bronze statue in a park in Wichita was cut at the ankles and taken away in a truck.

“Our community is very upset,” said the Wichita Police in a statement about the theft that occurred on Thursday night.

The police will give money to anyone who helps them find the statue.

Wichita’s police chief Joe Sullivan said at a news conference on Friday that he was upset that someone took the statue from a park that children and families often visit.

“Mr Sullivan said this should make us all upset. ”

The statue was in McAdams Park, which is the home of League 42, a youth baseball league named after Robinson’s jersey number.

The park is famous for honoring important African Americans. It is named after a previous black city official, and its community center was renamed in recent years after the city’s first elected black mayor.

Robinson was the first black player in Major League Baseball. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and made it possible for many African American players to follow in his footsteps.

“Even if they had their reasons, they were not just taking from the community, they were also taking from the hard work of League 42 members,” explained Brandon Johnson, a member of the Wichita city council.

“Most importantly, they’re taking from the children. ”

Authorities are willing to give $2,500 for a helpful tip that leads to an arrest, and an extra $5,000 for information on where the statue is located.

City officials said the stolen statue is worth over $75,000, but they also said that the overall loss is even greater.

The value is a lot bigger. This is Jackie Robinson. Troy Houtman, the person in charge of parks and recreation in Wichita, said he will stop there.

  • UK stops funding UN organisation following over Hamas attack

UK stops funding UN organisation following over Hamas attack

Some countries, like the UK, have stopped giving money to UNRWA, a group that helps Palestinian refugees.

After the company said some of its workers were fired because they were linked to the Hamas attacks on 7 October.

The UK government expressed shock and disapproval of Israel’s claims.

The US, Australia, Italy, Canada, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany have stopped giving extra money to the UN agency.

In 1949, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNRWA, was created. It is the largest UN agency working in Gaza.

It helps Palestinians by giving them health care, education, and other help in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. It hires about 13,000 people in Gaza.

Ever since Israel started fighting back after the attacks on 7 October, UNRWA has been providing shelter for many people who had to leave their homes in Gaza.

It says it is looking into the information from Israel.

Israel has said that the United Nations, including UNRWA, is unfair and has shown hatred towards Jewish people.

In an interview with the media, UNRWA’s former main spokesperson, Christopher Gunness, said that stopping aid to UNRWA was not fair and will only make things worse for people in Gaza.

Mr Gunness thinks UNRWA showed it has a strict policy by firing the workers before finishing their own investigation.

One million people who were forced to leave their homes are now staying near UNRWA buildings for safety. Mr Gunness said that the people will suffer because of this decision. The cutting of UNRWA services will also make the region less stable when Western governments are trying to prevent a big conflict in the area.

On Friday, a person who helps the leader of Israel said on the BBC that the Hamas attacks on 7 October involved “people who are getting paid by [UNRWA]”.

Mark Regev claimed that there was evidence indicating that teachers at UNRWA schools had openly celebrated the attacks on October 7th.

He also talked about an Israeli captive who, after being freed, said she had been “kept in the home of a person who worked for UNRWA”.

“They have a group that Hamas controls, and I think it’s about time for the UN to look into the connection between UNRWA and Hamas,” he said.

The accusations made big donors react.

“The UK government is shocked by claims that UNRWA workers took part in the attack on Israel on 7 October. The government strongly disapproves of this terrible act of terrorism. “

“The UK has stopped giving money to UNWRA for now while we look into some worrying claims,” it said.

Earlier, the US government said it will stop giving more money to the UN agency because they are worried about UN workers being involved in the attacks.

The EU said it will consider what to do next after a thorough investigation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was “shocked by this news”.

Philippe Lazzarini, who is in charge of UNRWA, said that they are doing a complete investigation to find out the truth as soon as possible.

“To make sure the agency can keep helping people in need, I have decided to fire these staff members right away,” Mr Lazzarini said.

He said that any employee involved in “acts of terror” will be held responsible.

Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, wants to shutdown UNRWA in Gaza after the war.

However, Hussein Al-Sheikh, the Palestinian Authority’s minister for civilian affairs, said that when some countries stop supporting the important UN agency, it can cause big political and humanitarian problems.

Mr al-Sheikh asked Western donors to change their decision right away. He also said that we need the most help for this international organization.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, Micheál Martin, said that Ireland will not stop giving money to the agency. He said the agency helps2. 3 million people and many staff members have been killed while doing their work.

Hamas asked the UN and other organizations not to give in to Israel’s threats and blackmail. They said this in a message on Telegram.

Last year, Hamas attacked southern Israeli communities and killed about 1,300 people, mostly innocent civilians.

Another 250 people were captured and held against their will. Israel attacked Hamas in Gaza after certain events. This has led to the death of over 26,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health ministry run by Hamas.

The US, Germany and the EU give a lot of money to UNRWA.

The agency is having a hard time delivering help to many of the 1. 7 million people who have been forced to leave their homes because of 12 weeks of fighting.

Several places in Gaza where people were seeking protection were bombed by Israel’s air force.

On Wednesday, a UN shelter in Khan Younis was hit, and 12 people died.

Demonstrators hurl soup at Mona Lisa artwork

Demonstrators threw soup at the glass that is protecting the Mona Lisa painting in Paris.

Leonardo da Vinci painted a famous picture in the 16th Century. It is kept in the Louvre museum in Paris.

It’s safe because it’s behind strong, bulletproof glass. It’s probably not broken or harmed.

A video showed two people protesting for better and good food, saying our farming system is not well.

Farmers in Paris have been protesting because they want fuel costs to stop going up and for regulations to be easier. On Friday, they blocked important roads in and out of the city.

The Mona Lisa has been protected by glass since the 1950s because someone damaged it with acid.

In 2019, the museum said it put in new see-through bulletproof glass to keep it safe.

In 2022, someone who wants to make a change threw cake at the painting and told people to think about the Earth.

The artwork was taken from the Louvre in 1911, and it made a big stir around the world. Vincenzo Peruggia worked at a really popular museum and he hid in a cupboard overnight to steal the painting.

It was found two years later when he tried to sell it to a store that sells old and valuable items in Florence, Italy.

  • Robert Corfield acknowledges child sex abuse

Robert Corfield acknowledges child sex abuse

In the 1980s, a man named Robert Corfield abused a boy in a secret Christian church. Now, he is talking about it for the first time.

The media talked to him as part of a bigger investigation into reports of child sexual abuse in the church over many years, called The Truth.

Many people have named a hotline to report sexual abuse in the church. This person’s name is just one of over 700 names given to the hotline.

The group claims it is dealing with all accusations of abuse.

The church doesn’t have a name, but it’s often called The Truth or The Way. People think it has around 100,000 members all over the world, with most of them in North America.

Two women who were also abused by a church leader as kids set up a hotline last year to hear from other people who have been abused. The hotline has helped show how widespread the abuse may be. People called to say that they were also hurt, and their stories go back a long time until now.

Former and current church members tell the media that the church’s secretive and closed-off ways have allowed abuse to thrive. There are many rules in this group. One of them is that people in the group should marry each other and not spend too much time with people from outside the group.

A Scottish evangelist started the church in Ireland in 1897. The church is based on ministers sharing teachings from the New Testament by talking to people.

One important thing about it is that ministers give away their things and stay with church members as they go from place to place, telling people about the gospel. The children who visit these homes are more likely to be hurt by people who live there, according to the insiders.

Michael Havet, who used to go to the church, said he was hurt by Robert Corfield when he was 12 years old in the 1980s.

“Mr Havet says that people used to call him ‘Bob’s little companion’ and it made him feel bad. He still feels this way. ”

After hurting him, Mr. Havet says Mr. Corfield would make him kneel next to him and pray.

“He says I had to work hard to move past that and start praying again. ”

When the media asked Mr. Corfield about the child abuse accusations, he admitted that it happened for six years in the 1980s.

He said he had to admit that it’s true.

Mr Corfield was a minister in Saskatchewan, Canada when the abuse happened. He was known as a “worker” in the sect.

This is the first time he has admitted to hurting children in public. Before this, people from his church talked to him about it and he wrote two letters to Mr. Havet in 2004 and 2005 asking for forgiveness and saying he was getting help from a therapist. In a letter, Mr. Corfield said he was “making a list of victims”.

“I want to make sure everyone I hurt gets help,” he wrote.

But when the media asked Mr. Corfield about it, he said there were no other victims like Michael. He also admitted to giving massages to two or three other teenagers.

Abuser gets a new chance to start over.

Mr Havet and 11 other people have told the media that there has been a lot of abuse in The Truth for a long time, but it has been ignored or hidden. Some of the people who have been accused of the abuse have stayed in important jobs for many years.

Mr Havet thinks that the way the church handled his case is a perfect example.

In 1993, he told Dale Shultz, the top church leader in Saskatchewan, about the abuse he experienced. Dale Shultz is also known as an “overseer”. Overseers are leaders of the church. There is one for each US state and Canadian province with active followers.

Mr Shultz didn’t tell the police. Later, he attacked Mr. Havet because he thought Mr. Havet had told other people about the abuse accusations.

“Mr Havet grabbed me and yelled, then he slammed my head against a hard pole, which made it start bleeding. ”

Mr Havet says that Mr Shultz told him to leave the church. Meanwhile, Robert Corfield, who abused him when he was a child, was relocated to be a minister in Montana.

Mr Corfield told the media that he thought it was Mr. Shultz’s choice to send him to Montana, and he stayed there for 25 years.

“He told me that it would give me a new start and also create distance between me and the victim. ”

Last year, Mr. Corfield was fired as a minister after someone in the church told him about Michael’s abuse. The media saw emails from inside the church about this. One email also said “there might be more people who were hurt. ”

The former minister said to the media that he left his job on his own when Michael accused him. He also said that he has not been told about any other accusations.

When the BBC asked Dale Shultz about the information, he said in an email that most of it was wrong. But, he refused to give more information.

A big problem happening all over the world.

Mr Havet is one of over 1,000 people who used to be in a group and now talk to a hotline set up by Advocates for The Truth.

The group started last year by Americans Cynthia Liles, Lauren Rohs and Sheri Autrey.

They claim to have been given the names of over 700 people who are suspected of something.

All the women used to be part of The Truth, and Lauren Rohs and Sheri Autrey say they were hurt by the same man.

The man was Ms Rohs’ dad, a senior minister named Steve Rohs.

In 2019, Lauren Rohs found Ms. Autrey after reading her story of being abused as a child on the internet.

In the post, Ms Autrey talked about how her abuser used to sing a song called Maneater by the 80s pop duo Hall & Oates to her when she was in his bedroom at night.

Ms Rohs realized right away that the man they were saying did the bad thing was actually her father, because he used to sing the same song to her when she was little.

    “I was shocked,” said the 35 year-old. “I was extremely confused. ”

She says that her father hurt her in many ways for a long time, since she was very young.

At the same time, Ms. Autrey says Steve Rohs stayed at her family’s house in Tulare County, California, for two months in 1982. She was 14 years old at the time, and he sexually abused her every day.

He sang Maneater because he wanted to manipulate me by making me look like a seductive person, the 54-year-old says.

The two women are 20 years apart in age. When his daughter was born, Mr. Rohs stopped working and started a family in San Diego, California. They went to live in Washington state, Idaho, and Colorado afterwards.

Lauren Rohs says her dad gave different reasons for why they moved a lot, like saying, “God wants us to be in a new place”.

The BBC sent Mr. Rohs emails and messages on social media asking about the accusations, but he didn’t answer.

    Abuse culture continues to exist.

Ms Rohs says that when she was in the church in the 1990s and 2000s, the workers were like very important people who were never criticized, and people who call the abuse hotline now say that this is still happening.

Just like Mr. Autrey said she told people about her abuser, but he was still protected.

“I was really afraid, soiled, embarrassed, and felt guilty,” said Ms. Autrey, who was 17 years old at the time and thought she would be in a lot of trouble.

But her mother believed her immediately and told the California state overseer, who has passed away since then.

On 11 May 1986, Mr. Rohs wrote a letter admitting to kissing and touching a teen and asking for forgiveness. The overseer saw the letter and the BBC also read it.

Mr Rohs came to Ms. Autrey’s house with some people and said sorry to her.

Ms Autrey remembers saying that he wasn’t sorry because if he was, he would have apologized a long time ago.

Even though Mr. Rohs confessed to hurting children, he still had a lot of respect and power in the church. His daughter says he got a higher position in the church in 1994. He became an elder, a person who leads meetings in his own home.

The media knows that he lives in Minnesota.

The gates for the water to come in are being opened.

The hotline was started because the person in charge of Oregon, Dean Bruer, died in 2022.

He was a very important leader for The Truth and worked for the group for 46 years in six different US states.

His replacement wrote a letter saying Mr. Bruer has a history of hurting and sexually assaulting young victims.

It’s not known why the letter was written, but it got out and ended up on Facebook and TikTok.

Then more people began to come out and share their own experiences of being mistreated.

“I believed the hotline was only for Dean Bruer’s victims, but it actually allowed many more people to come forward,” Ms. Rohs explains

The friends now want justice that they couldn’t get before.

Ms Rohs says finding Sheri was a very special and powerful healing experience.

Ms Autrey says it has been upsetting for survivors to hear the amount of bad and evil things again.

Our situation was already bad, but seeing other people in such terrible situations makes me very angry. It has been not very nice, but also worth it. Ms Autrey left the Advocates in December.

Michael Havet with his dog. Picture from Advocates For The Truth.

The media sent an email with the allegations to over 20 people in charge in North America because The Truth does not have a main leader.

The only person who replied was Rob Newman, who is in charge of California.

“We take all abuse claims seriously and investigate them,” he wrote in an email, before Mr. Corfield admitted to wrongdoing.

“Our main worry is that victims get the right kind of help from experts. ” We take all reports of abuse very seriously. We think it’s important for everyone to get training on how to report abuse. We also encourage everyone to report any issues to the right legal authorities.

Ms Autrey thinks that things will not get better until those responsible for making mistakes are put in jail.

“It’s a very effective tool for criminals,” she says.

“It’s a very good system that has been around for 120 years. “

British-affiliated tanker Marlin Luanda attacked by Houthis in Gulf of Aden

A big ship from the UK was on fire for a long time in the Gulf of Aden. It was hit by a missile from the Houthis.

The group from Yemen, supported by Iran, said they attacked the Marlin Luanda on Friday because of “American-British aggression”.

The US and UK are bombing Houthi targets because they attacked ships in the Red Sea.

Ships from France, India, and the United States helped the boat.

UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said the attack was very bad and against the law.

“We must make sure that ships can travel freely in the Red Sea, and we promise to keep working towards that goal,” he said on X.

The company that runs the Marlin Luanda ship is called Oceonix Services Ltd. They are based in the UK.

The big ship is from the Marshall Islands and is used by Trafigura, a big company that trades around the world.

On Saturday, Trafigura said everyone on the ship was okay and they had put out the fire in one of the cargo tanks. The ship is headed to a safe place to dock, the company announced.

The US Central Command (Centcom) said that the tanker, which had 22 Indian and 1 Bangladeshi crew members, did not have any injuries or deaths.

The Houthis recently attacked commercial ships in and around the Red Sea. The group is attacking ships in the area to help the Palestinians in Gaza who are fighting against Israel.

A Houthi spokesperson said they targeted the Marlin Luanda because they believed it was a British ship, in response to what they see as American-British aggression against their country.

The UK government said it is not okay to attack commercial ships. They also said that Britain and its allies have the right to retaliate if needed.

The US Central Command said that these illegal actions are not connected to the fighting in Gaza.

“The boat and its crew are not connected to Israel in any way. ” The Houthis have shot into the Red Sea without aiming at specific targets, which has affected more than 40 countries, according to Centcom.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the incident happened 60 nautical miles to the southeast of Aden.

It told other boats to be careful and tell authorities if they saw anything suspicious.

Later, Centcom announced that they attacked a Houthi anti-ship missile that was ready to be launched into the Red Sea at 03:45 local time on Saturday. Centcom said they destroyed the missile to protect themselves.

Since November, the Houthis have attacked many ships in the Red Sea, which is a very busy shipping route.

  • Trump faces ‘two-edged sword’ from defamation defeat

Trump faces ‘two-edged sword’ from defamation defeat

A jury in New York said that Donald Trump has to pay $83. 3 million to E Jean Carroll, a writer who he denied assaulting. Legal experts are saying that the award is a message to the ex-president to stop spreading bad things about her. But, will it be successful.

Last year Ms Carroll won a court case against Mr Trump. The jury found him legally responsible for sexually abusing and defaming her, and she was awarded $5m in damages.

The result of the first case didn’t stop the ex-president from saying that Ms. Carroll’s story was not true. He even personally attacked the writer and said he had never met her.

After paying a lot of money for legal fees on Friday, he didn’t insult the former Elle columnist in his online response. Instead, he called the case a “Biden Directed Witch Hunt”.

Mr Trump is facing four criminal charges and may have to pay a lot of money in a New York trial about fraud. He says the cases against him are only happening because of politics.

According to Grant Reeher, a professor at Syracuse University, his legal problems have had both positive and negative effects on his election campaign.

“It has made most people think less of him, but it has made his supporters even more passionate and convinced some Republicans to stay loyal to him,” Professor Reeher said to the media.

“Trump sees his legal problems as a sign of being treated unfairly and as a sign of loyalty to his supporters. ”

But he said that it is not clear how Mr. Trump’s “witch hunt” message will affect the general election, even though it may help him in the Republican primary.

Recent surveys show that Mr. Trump and President Joe Biden are in a close competition, and Mr. Trump is even winning in some situations, if they were to run against each other again in the future.

Professor Reeher said that this tells us a lot about Biden and the Democrats, just as it does about Trump. He was referring to the president’s low job approval ratings and worries about his age.

Even if Mr. Trump truly feels he was treated unfairly by Ms. Carroll, and many of his supporters agree, the verdict on Friday shows how the nine people on the jury felt about his actions.

During the trial, Ms Carroll’s lawyers said that Mr Trump was still saying bad things about her, even outside of court.

In the final part of the trial, they asked the seven men and two women jurors to give a punishment that will make the person stop doing bad things.

This is a lot of money. “This is a huge amount of money,” said Dmitriy Shakhnevich, a lawyer and teacher at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

The jury thinks that this man is rich and won’t stop unless he is hurt financially.

MsCarroll was given $83 million. $65 million of that money is a punishment for the other party. A prize for punishment money “depends on how bad the behavior was,” Prof Shakhnevich said.

Conservative lawyer John Yoo said on Fox News: “The main idea of this is. ” We want to tell Donald Trump to be quiet.

“I can’t believe his lawyers haven’t been able to tell him: run for president, talk about unfair justice, but don’t talk about this. ”

The former president wants to appeal, but experts think he probably won’t win.

“The amount of punitive damages is not much higher than the compensatory damages, so it shouldn’t cause any concerns. I think it will stay the same,” said RonNell Andersen Jones, a professor at the University of Utah.

Professor Jones mentioned that Mr. Trump’s response on the internet, where he targeted Mr. Biden and the legal system without repeating false claims about Ms. Carroll, could show that the consequences may discourage further harmful actions.

University of Richmond law professor Carl Tobias said that the Republicans’ bad behavior during the trial might have made their case weaker.

Prof Tobias said that Trump did not show respect to the judge, the jurors, the other lawyer, specifically Carroll, and the legal process during the civil trial.

It’s very unlikely that the Supreme Court will agree to hear an appeal, he said. The justices hardly ever look at cases like this.

Mitch Epner, a former federal prosecutor, said that Mr. Trump has been able to avoid paying any money to Ms. Carroll by giving a deposit to the court while he is appealing the case.

Mr Epner thinks that Mr Trump will also have to pay a lot of money or put up a bond if he wants to appeal the decision.

He said that if this doesn’t happen, Ms Carroll could take control of the things the former president owns, including his properties.

But even though Mr. Trump won big in the first two Republican primary contests in Iowa and New Hampshire, it doesn’t look like Friday’s decision will stop him from winning the party’s presidential nomination.

“The first test will be in South Carolina,” said Brian Crowley, an experienced political expert. He was talking about the Republican primary vote on 24 February.

“With the polls showing that he is currently winning against Nikki Haley, she can use this decision to make people think that Trump has too many problems that could make him lose against Biden in the election. “

  • North Korea launches cruise missiles off coast of the east – Seoul reports

North Korea launches cruise missiles off coast of the east – Seoul reports

North Korea shot some missiles into the water on its east side, according to South Korea’s military.

Recently, the country with nuclear weapons has been testing missiles a lot, causing tension in the area.

The rocket was launched near the Sinpo port on Sunday. We don’t know how many or what kind of missiles there are yet.

North Korea tested a new missile called Pulhwasal-3-31 on Wednesday, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

South Korea’s military said they have been working with the United States to watch for any more actions from North Korea after the new launch at 08:00.

In the past few months, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been more aggressive in his policies and what he says, and has stopped some agreements that were meant to keep peace and has increased military action.

Pyongyang said it tested a new missile and underwater drones in January. They claim the drones can carry a nuclear weapon.

For the past two years, they have been launching missiles and developing weapons almost every month, ignoring UN sanctions.

Earlier this month, Kim Jong Un said that the goal of reuniting with South Korea is no longer important. He said that South Korea is now the main enemy.

This has made people worry that North Korea is getting ready for a war.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol told his cabinet recently that if North Korea does something bad, South Korea will respond much more strongly, because its military is very powerful.
