The Ghana Union of Traders (GUTA) leadership has pleaded with traders to lower the pricing of products and services in line with the present appreciation of the Cedi.
The Vice President of the Union, Clement Boateng, said reducing the prices of goods will help the country’s debt-strapped economy recover.
“The situation demands that we contribute to the development of the country, and we are all aware that the Cedi has depreciated against some major currencies which led to an increase in the prices of goods and services, and it is incumbent on us that once there has been a little bit stability of the Cedi, we should appeal to our members so that they can also as much as possible adjust their prices so that the consuming public can be cushioned in the Christmas season.”
He added that he expected the prices of goods to be reduced going forward because purchases and importations by importers had already been made and will not affect new imports which are expected to arrive after the Christmas celebrations.
“I can tell you that supplies for Christmas have already been done. We have already made purchases for Christmas so even if we are going to make any purchases again, those purchases are going to come after Christmas.
“Now that the Cedi has appreciated against the Dollar, we should try as much as possible to strike a balance not that we sell in a way that we lose but at least, you don’t expect to make so much profit but they should try and reduce their prices, we are advising against those price increases that people were making to make astronomical profits.”

Osman Bukari, a player for Ghana, is optimistic that the Black Stars can end their 40-year trophy drought at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In the past ten years, the Black Stars have come dangerously close to ending their trophy drought. In 2010, Angola lost the final to Egypt, and in 2015, Equatorial Guinea-Gabon saw the Stars lose to Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout.
Speaking after Ghana’s World Cup exit, the Red Star Belgrade star expressed the Black Stars can annex the AFCON 2024 title in Ivory Coast.
Asked if Ghana can win AFCON 2024, he said, “Oh Yes, anything can happen. We have to put it at the back of our minds we are going to win AFCON 2024”
“We have a very young team so anything can happen though I’m not 100% sure of Ghana winning it but its football and anything can happen” he told BYT Sports TV.
The Black Stars were eliminated after the first round of the tournament following a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.
After defeating South Korea in their second group game, the Black Stars needed a draw or win against Uruguay to advance to the last 16 stage.
But the team failed to negotiate for points against their ‘enemies’ Uruguay.
Ghana made a strong start to the game, but fell apart after captain Andre Ayew missed a penalty in the 21st minute, a repeat of what happened in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The Black Stars will now shift attention to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set to begin in earnest.
The four-time African champions sit top of Group D with four points from the first two games of the qualifiers.
Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc will operate 30 special flights to carry soccer fans from Casablanca to Doha for the country’s Wednesday World Cup semifinal game against France, the airline said on Monday.

Passengers on the promotionally priced round trips will add to the thousands of Moroccans who are already attending the soccer tournament in Doha.

The Nigerian singer, who describes himself as a fuji artist, was faced with the embarrassing situation, yet hilarious moment, whilst he tried to show off his signature dance moves on stage.
While singing ‘Loaded’ his latest collaboration with Tiwa Savage, Asake performed a mid-air kick dance stunt and right there and then, his clothes gave up on him. Asake’s pair of trousers immediately got widely torn.
Asake’s assets were nearly left on wild display but he was saved by his underwear. The ‘Joha’ singer quickly noticed the emergency situation he found himself in and skilfully danced off stage.

The Chief Executive of Bui Power Authority (BPA), Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, has assured a delegation from Germany of the Authority’s commitment to achieving the Professional Education for Renewable Energy in Ghana (ProREG) project.
The project aims to help train engineering students from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in renewable energy.
A funding proposal of about one million euros by BPA, in partnership with the two academic institutions, has been accepted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
A training model is to be developed to guide the successful execution of the aims of the project.
Mr. Kofi Dzamesi reiterated BPA’s willingness to impart practical knowledge of the various generating plants (the Hydro and Solar plants) whilst also building capacity in the respective fields.
The BPA CEO urged the German delegation to provide the needed support by honoring their commitments to ensure the successful completion of the project.
He made the remarks during a courtesy call on him in Accra by the German delegation, made up of officials from the DAAD and the Technical University of Berlin.
The CEO earlier on November 29, 2022, signed the cooperation agreement with DAAD and the stakeholder institutions for joint technical coordination of the ProREG project.
The delegation, on their part, reaffirmed their commitment to the project and showed their gratitude for the good work and services being provided by BPA.
They had the opportunity to inspect BPA’s 30kW rooftop Solar as well as the 1kW wind turbine at the BPA Head Office in Accra.

The Authority also facilitated a visit to the Bui Generating Station, where the grateful delegation also inspected the hydro and solar generating plants at the Bui enclave.
They also visited UENR in Sunyani in the Bono Region and had a closed-door meeting with the institution’s governing council. They also inspected a one million euros Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability, a World Bank project.
Prof Osvaldo Romero Romero, a member of the delegation from the Berlin University of Applied Science, said the partnership is also a way to learn from the stakeholders in Ghana with a good chance to expand their cooperation.
Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, CEO, BPA
The trained students from UENR and KNUST find their way to BPA, Volta River Authority, and other renewable energy-related institutions, hence the need to get them practical expertise, according to Wisdom Ahiataku-Togobo, the Renewable Energy Director at BPA.
“Our active involvement is also to support lecturers who teach these students to have practical and industrial exposure”, he explained.
Mr. Ahiataku-Togobo further said, “That is why my CEO, Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, has willingly made available our Bui Generation Station and our Tsatsadu Generation Station in the Volta Region so that students can have the opportunity to have hands-on experience in the various renewable energy plants in the Ghana”.
The Introduction of the Integrated Customs Management Systems at the country’s portsand other entry points has contributed to a significant improvement in revenue mobilization.
According to the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Rev. Amisshadai Owusu Amoah, the new system has supported the authority to exceed its revenue target by about 30%.
Rev. Owusu-Amoah made this revelation in an engagement with the Customs Uni-pass Agency of Korea (CUPIA) officials when they paid a courtesy call on him as part of an enhanced collaboration between stakeholders and the managers of the ICUMS, Ghana Link.
ICUMs is an electronic customs management system introduced to coordinate cross border trade activities and increase government revenue from the ports.
The project is aimed at reducing delayed clearance of goods at the ports and what government termed as leakage in revenue mobilisation.
Rev. Owusu Amoah also hinted of the significant returns from auctions since the introduction of ICUMs into the e-auction process which is being piloted at some selected ports and centers of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
“Since we introduced the E-auction which is even on the pilot phase, we have seen significant improvement in the returns we get from the auction of cars and goods.
“The last two we did for the goods, we received more than the reserve price for the total cost of the goods that were auctioned and it was a significant deviation from the previous times since the E-auction was introduced,” he noted.
The Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen added that plans are on course to ensure that the ICUMs is made robust so that it can withstand the dynamics of the market.
ICUMs has also been enhanced to take care of exports and imports under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
Shatta Wale says no Ghanaian artiste can fill the Accra Sports Stadium with fans for a music show.
The Ghanaian dance hall act was sharing his mind on the brouhaha around Wizkid’s Accra Sports Stadium show. The Nigerian music was booked to perform at an event by Live Hub Entertainment, however, he did not show up.
The turn out of the event has got social media users talking. Some netizens have been criticising Wizkid and the event organizers for not being able to fill stadium.
Whilst the conversation is ongoing, a video of Shatta Wale speaking about artistes filling the stadium has surfaced. In the video he said “As someone with experience, I said that Ghana here, nobody has done that kind of show“.
“Unless it’s a political rally, if it’s not NPP or NDC or maybe Pastor Mensah Otabil or Pastor Chris, I am telling you people something, write it down, or Duncan Williams, or Bishop Agyin Asare, or maybe it’s Kotoko and Hearts, we have never had a show like that at the stadium where you can see that the place is filled up for one artiste,” he added.
Speaking about how music shows are done in the stadium, he explained that “every time we fill one side. Sometimes if you go to ask they tell you that the authorities don’t want it that way because they don’t want the theft to destroyed“.
In the video below, Shatta Wale added he therefore makes sure he enters agreement with the show promoters before accepting shows at the stadium.
“The time has come for us also to eschew extreme political partisanship and look into attaining the collective success of the ordinary Ghanaian,” he said.
He indicated that every citizen was accountable for the success or failure of the country, adding that the country needed patriotic citizens now more than ever.
“To be patriotic requires special affection for one’s own country, special concern for the wellbeing of the country, and willingness to sacrifice oneself to promote the country’s growth,” he remarked.
NAFAC, Ghana’s biggest cultural festival is celebrated every two years on rotational basis to provide a platform to showcase the diversity and richness in the country’s ethnic and regional cultures to stimulate peace and unity.
The weeklong festival was opened in colour, glitz and glamour before a durbar of chiefs, politicians, high profiled personalities, students and the public at the Adisadel School Park.
The magnificent expression of the rich Ghanaian culture and heritage in all forms, including music, dance, poems, food, language and dresses, characterised the event which was a sight to behold.
The national event attracted many people from all over the country to represent and sell their culture in a unifying fashion to Ghana and the world.
This year’s event, which marks the 60th anniversary of the festival is on the theme: “Revising Patriotism, Peace and Unity through Cultural Diversity for Sustainable Development.”
President Akufo-Addo stressed that it was the responsibility of patriotic citizens to work collectively to ensure that Ghana developed and achieved peace, progress and prosperity.
“An individual actions can change a life, but collaborative actions have a positive impact on a nation,” he said.
“We must portray how patriotic we are by upholding the nation’s constitution, respecting our country’s symbols, traditions and heritage, acknowledging the sentiments of fellow countrymen and women and contributing constructively to the growth and wellbeing of the nation,” he added.
The President indicated that the foundation of transforming and developing the nation was contingent on the character of the people, which encompassed cultural values such as selflessness, honesty and truthfulness, hard work, decency and dignity.
According to him, the industry is gradually producing vibrant, talented, and internationally recognised music artists and within the next five years we would see a lot of Ghanaian acts making waves globally.
This we can say it is true as Ghana has secured a plot for its outstanding music be it Highlife or Afrobeats. Currently, there has been an emerging crop of artists whose talents and music are touching the heart of many across the globe.
Speaking in an interview with Pulse Ghana, the ‘GodMC’ hitmaker also showed his love while nominating Ghana’s most promising act Black Sherif to be one of few to raise the flag of Ghana high.
According to the ‘No Shortcut to Heaven’ hitmaker, Black Sherif is one clearly gifted act who is not scared to follow his destiny.
He added that the 20-year old rapper is someone who has always been himself and does not shy away from that which resonates with the youth and that is why he is so loved.
Black Sherif’s passion and energy on his songs has been rewarded by Ghanaians and music lovers by paying attention to craftsmanship.
There have been a lot of ‘new school’ artists who have been breaking barriers and lifting the flag of Ghana high with their hard work and talent.
Black Sherif , since gaining popularity through his hit song “First Sermon” in May 2021, has caught the attention of several global acts and he seems to have taken over the media space and social media.
Sherif’s story is written in stars. Since his breakout in 2021 and his debut spectacular performance of his single, “Kwaku, The Traveller” at the 2022 3Music Awards, the world cannot have enough of spell-bounding music. His fame has spread far and wild with his songs topping charts in many countries and various music streaming platforms
John Philpot, an international human rights attorney from Montreal, Canada, has commended Ghana’s ‘gold-for-oil’ strategy, which Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia recently developed and put into action.
Philpot, who has extensive knowledge of international politics pertaining to the continent and has previously lived in Africa, said Ghana’s decision is a courageous as well as the appropriate step because it would stop currency depreciation and stabilize prices.
He continued by predicting that other other nations would soon adopt a similar policy.
“The U.S dollar is having a lot of inflation so..it has less value because of the inflation…Gold is more of a universal value and they (Ghana) are doing this to internally avoid the devaluation of their currency and I think this is going to be a tendency worldwide,” Philpot said during an interview with Press TV Iran.
“It would appear that [the policy] will avoid poverty and stabilise prices because countries in Africa, their money is pegged to the U.S dollar. Prices go up much faster and the money is much less value for the people working in the salaries of those countries. I lived in Tanzania…people I know living on Tanzanian salaries were having a very hard time. This [gold for oil policy] will stabilise prices,” he said.
He said Ghana’s move is a “return to multilateral approach and obviously having better relations with Russia and China and other countries too…The United Nations was built on the concept of sovereignty. You are not sovereign if the U.S. dollar controls your economy so if they get a form of universal or more democratic trade, it increases your sovereignty.”
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia announced recently that Ghana would kick off a policy of using gold reserves to purchase refined crude productsfrom the world market from 2023 rather than using the U.S. dollar.
In a speech delivered at the 2022 Ghana Energy Awards held the night of Sunday, November 27th, the Vice President said the move is aimed at stopping the cedi’s depreciation and its attendant effects on the local economy.
“A major source of cedi depreciation has been the demand for foreign exchange to finance the import of oil products…Persistent cedi depreciation increases the cost of living with higher prices for fuel, transportation, utilities, food and so on,” Bawumia said.
““…To address this fundamental challenge of the persistent depreciation and its impact on fuel, utility prices, food and so on, government has decided to implement a policy of using our gold to buy oil products. That is something new and it is the barter of sustainably mined gold for oil and is one of the most important policy changes in Ghana since independence. If we implement it as we have envisioned, it will fundamentally change our balance of payments and significantly reduce the persistent depreciation of our currency with its associated increases in fuel, electricity, water, transport and food prices,” he added.
In a similar move, the reserve bank of Zimbabwe introduced gold coins into the market in July this year amidst rising inflation and rapid depreciation of the local currency.
The introduction of the gold coins was part of the Central Bank’s measures to tackle the country’s currency crisis through exchange rate stabilisation.

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has indicated that it will publish the list of 2,584 dormant and defaulted companiesas part of the processes to get these companies off its register.
According to the ORC, this is part of the second phase of the clean-up exercise which started at the beginning of the year and saw over 2,700 dormant and defaulted companies struck off the companies register in accordance with the Companies Act 2019(Act 992) for failure to file their Annual Returns and Amendments with the Office.
In an interview with Joy Business, Public Relations Officer of the ORC, Nicholas Ofori, said the Office is responsible for maintaining and reporting on accurate and reliable data on registered businesses in the country and therefore is undertaking this exercise to clean up the companies.
“All Company entities namely; Private/Public Companies Limited by Shares, Private/Public Companies Limited by Guarantee (Schools, Associations, Churches, Foundations, Unions, Civil Society Organizations, Fun Clubs, NGO’s, etc.) are to file their Annual Returns together with their Financial Statement with the ORC at a cost of ¢50 or in default pay a penalty of ¢500 in addition to fees own in arrears”.
“I am therefore urging all company officials to file their annual returns before December 31, 2022 to avoid being struck off from the Companies Register”, he said.
According to him, a company earmarked to be struck off would be made inactive in the e-register application and therefore cannot be electronically searched on, adding that a company once struck off would require a High Court order to the Registrar of Companies for reinstatement after it has shown cause to the court for non-compliance on its obligation.
He continued that external companies are required to submit their “Group Account’ with the Office of the Registrar of Companies at a cost of $690 or in default pay $750 in addition to fees owe in arrears.
“Sole proprietorships and partnerships should renew their businesses at a cost of ¢30.00 and ¢60.00 respectively. However, a partnership in default would pay a penalty of ¢500 in addition to fees owe in arrears’.
He advised the public to be vigilant against fraudsters who use the name of the office to defraud clients by directing them to send Mobile Money (Momo) to a certain number to renew their businesses for them.
He indicated that the ORC has not authorised any person or agent to transact business on its behalf and therefore should report such calls to the office.
He claims that young people in Ghana who are digitally savvy might use their skills to earn money and hire others to work in the industry.
Mr. Acolatse said investing in business ideas was essential to producing successful young people in the nation while speaking to the media at the Ghana to the Moon business and technology conference in Accra over the weekend.
The team with the best business plan received an amount of US$1000 to kick-start their project.
He said the youth can only be technologically inclined “By giving it to them, showing them how to use it and the monetization of it. So we have access to resources where with these trainings, we are able to literally sit at home on a laptop, computer, and be able to make money. We want to introduce them to a space that is not privy here [in Ghana].”
“The event is called Ghana to the Moon business and tech conference. It is a pitch competition where we are investing in ideas, we allow them to come together as a group and form company and provide business plan and the incentive we are providing them with is US$1,000 for the ideas,” he said.

The Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Rabi Salifu says the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been peddling falsehood about the cedi-dollar depreciation rate.
According to her, the NDC hired some influencers on TikTok to raise false alarm about the strength of the cedi.
“The NDC went to get few people to stage them, to say come out and throw fear in the system, they came out to say by December dollar was going to be ₵25 which is not happening”, she said.
“They came to say the dollar was going to get stronger and stronger, the speculations we were all condemning were all triggered by the NDC”, she also added.
Rabi Salifu is the Deputy Communications Director of NPP.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, Rabi Salifu said that this false speculation created fear and panic in people, causing them to hurriedly exchange their cedis for dollars to maintain the value of their currency.
“They threw in speculations, people held the dollars and our cedi was underperforming”, she alleged.
The Deputy Communications Director of the NPP believes that the NDC’s attitude has intensified or worsened the country’s inflation rate.
When the host of the programme challenged her for evidence since the claims had not been proven to be factual, Rabi Salifu insisted that she has evidence to support her claim.
Her claim comes two months after President Akufo-Addo asked Ghanaians to stop unfounded speculations about the value of the local currency against other major trading currencies across the globe.
Cautioning against the speculations, he said government would deal with all persons who publicised such false pieces of information on the value of the Cedi.
“Fellow Ghanaians, as the French would say, l’argent n’aime pas le bruit, to wit, money does not like noise, sika mpɛ dede. Where there is chaos, where there is noise, where there is unrest, you will not find money. If you talk down your money, it will go down. If you allow some unidentifiable person to talk down your money, it will go down”, he counselled.
MP for Tamale Central, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed has disclosed how much he spends on fuelwhen he wants to visit his constituency.
The Legislator in an interview with JoyNews said it costs GH¢7000 for him to travel to Tamale and return with his Land Cruiser.
According to him, this has compelled him to resort to aircraft for his journey to Tamale.
However, the flight fares from Accra to Tamale and Kumasi, he said are equally expensive due to the taxes imposed on fuel for aeroplanes.
He said the government must immediately remove taxes on fuel for domestic airlines to reduce the crippling airfares.
“If I am going to Tamale now with Land Cruiser, I need about ¢3000 to fill my tank and you will have to top up in Techiman, And when you top up, the least you can spend is ¢500.
“So you need ¢3500 in and ¢3500 out, making ¢7000. So now, we decided to go buy air. The air ticket now, you need no less than ¢3000 return ticket for Tamale. It is absolutely ridiculous.
“I think that the taxes that are imposed on the fuel airline use, the state could help people. If the state could subsidise it, there will not be any justification for the airline to increase their fares.”
Meanwhile, the government has commenced plans to secure cheaper fuel for the Ghanaian market.
A government delegation has already held meetings with major suppliers of petroleum products to find less costly fuel.
The Deputy Energy Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage Transportation Limited, Edwin Provencal and National Petroleum Authority Boss, Perry Okudzeto in November met with the Chief Executive of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Sultan Al Jaber for to see how possible government can secure a cheaper fuel for the Ghanaian market.
The move is expected to deal with the rising prices of petroleum products in the country.
Government is yet to announce the details and progress of the plans in this regard.
NDC’s deputy National Youth Organiser, Edem Agbana, has cast doubt over President Akufo-Addo’s ability to bring the dwindling economy back on track.
According to Mr Agbana, the government does not have a workable policy to deal with the economic challenges bedeviling Ghana.
Speaking with Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning, Monday, he indicated how unpredictable the government is when it comes to planning for the country.
“President Akufo-Addo and his government, and their management team are very inconsistent, and they do not have any clear-cut policy to help Ghanaians out of the economic mess.” Edem Agbana said.
His comment comes on the back of government’s decision to reintroduce the road tolls less than a year after it was scrapped.
“Because a year ago, you read the budget and you gave reasons why you needed to scrap the tolls…what happened to those reasons? Why are you now reintroducing the road tolls?” the Deputy NDC Organiser quizzed.
Mr. Agbana indicated that the government is a populist one that does not think beyond propaganda and that their policies are just a pretence to gain political capital.
“But again, it points out to the fact that we have a populist government…Every policy, every initiative that they pretend to be introducing is to help them get some political capital,” he added.
The NDC Organiser further said that the government claimed to have scrapped the road tolls just so they could introduce the e-levy.
He said that this was to make Ghanaians believe that they have reduced their tax burdens.
According to Edem Agbana, the government wanted to raise about GH₵6.9 billion from the e-levy but after some months, they realised they were unable to raise even 10% of the proceeds, so they sought after the IMF for pecuniary aid.
He thus believes that the government is clueless as to how to bring the economy back to life.
He said, “I don’t have a problem paying road tolls, but the challenge is that government is consistently inconsistent when it comes to their economic policies.”
“This is a very confused government, a government that is clueless, and just jumping on doing trial and error, but try and error cannot run the economy,” he stressed.
The NDC Deputy Youth Organiser suggested that “We must have consistent policies, dedicate ourselves to pursuing those policies, and ensure that we bring Ghanaians out of the economic mess that we find ourselves in.”
He added that the government’s declaration of a decrease in coupon payments amounts to a “haircut” and called it a disgrace to the Ghanaian people.
Togbe Afede XIV said in a 14-page opinion piece: “We are now faced with problems regarding debt sustainability and our capacity to find the fiscal room to fund urgent and important development demands.
“Now, the fears about Ghana defaulting on its debt repayment have effectively materialized with the announcement of a domestic Debt Exchange Programme. And we are making a mockery of ourselves talking ‘no haircuts’ when that is exactly the effect of reduction in promised coupon payments,” he said.
“These high-interest rates made it difficult for businesses to borrow to invest in the real sectors of the economy to achieve the value-addition we crave. It also perpetuated our import dependence, while making it difficult for local entrepreneurs to borrow, invest and increase local ownership of the economy,” he noted.
“Bank of Ghana officials have inadvertently frustrated the restructuring of the economy, which they themselves have identified as the solution to our balance of payments deficit and currency depreciation problems.”
“It is difficult to see how policy rate increases can fight cost-pushed inflation resulting from food or crude oil price increases or increased taxes on petroleum products. Sadly, even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when income levels had fallen worldwide, and stimulus packages were being implemented everywhere to boost economic activity, BoG still ensured that we suffer under strangulating high-interest rates,” the economist added.
Two persons have been sentenced to a total of 32 years imprisonment in hard labour for robbery.
Yaw Ofori Asiamah, barber and Emmanuel Ocran Kounakey, unemployed, denied conspiring to rob a trader of her purse, containing a mobile phone and GHS44.00 but were found culpable after trial and sentenced 16 years each.
Police Chief Inspector John Gohoho told an Accra High Court that Madam Comfort Korkor Dapaah is the complainant.
He said both convicts: Asiamah and Kounakey resided at Nungua Addogono and on May 4, 2022, at about 0030 hours, the complainant had closed from work at Nungua Abrantee College area and was on her way home when the now convicts, who were roaming in the area, looking for vulnerable and unsuspecting people to prey on, spotted her on the road.
Chief Inspector Gohoho said the convicts started stalking her and when she got to the darkest section of the road, they pounced on her.
The Court heard that the two wielding a knife and a pair of scissors, pulled them out and threatened to stab the complainant.
They then slapped the complainant on the face with a powdered red-hot substance suspected to be ground pepper and later fled the scene with the complainant’s plastic bag, containing her black purse, a Samsung mobile phone, a Voter’s ID card and GHS44.00.
He said the complainant reported the matter to the Nungua Police. About two hours later, Police officers at Nungua Addogono during a snap check at a duty point, spotted the convicts in a taxi.
A search conducted on them revealed a knife and a pair of scissors, he added.
Prosecution said further search conducted in the taxi revealed the complainant’s hand bag and the stolen items.
Based on this, the convicts were arrested and during the investigations, they admitted the offence in their cautioned statements and were charged after investigations.

According to a press release, the single was written by The Weeknd and produced by Swedish House Mafia along with Simon Franglen and “speaks to the epic scope, breathtaking action, and thrilling drama of the film itself.”
“Avatar: The Way of Water” is the sequel to James Cameron’s wildly successful 2009 “Avatar” film. The movie hits theaters on December 16.
The 47-year-old took over as head coach of the Black Stars in February, succeeding Milovan Rajevac, who was fired following the nation’s dismal showing in the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Otto Addo, who also serves as Borussia Dortmund’s talent coach led Ghana to secure qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but the team suffered an early elimination from the tournament.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, the Hearts of Oak board member said he doubted the competence of the 47-year-old Borussia Dortmund scout and raised the alarm when he was appointed, but his advice fell on deaf ears.
‘When the committee came up with Chris Hughton, Otto Addo and the rest, I said Otto was not really a coach and if he was a coach at all, he didn’t have enough experience.
”So I suggested that in the interim we should go for Prosper Narteh Ogum, then later bring in Chris Hughton because Otto Addo could not handle the Black Stars, but people thought I was joking. You see the ending now?” he quizzed.
Otto Addo has left his role as the head coach of the Black Stars after the team’s poor performance but Dr Tamakloe has advised the football chiefs to appoint Chris Hughton for the vacant position.
Hughton was the technical advisor to the team during the tenure of Otto Addo and Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe believes that the former Tottenham Hotspur manager is the only one with the credentials to catapult the team to a desirable level following Otto Addo’s exit.
”I think Chris Hughton will be the right person because of his background. He has the African background; second, he is a coach with experience and also has had the opportunity to know these boys,” he noted.
”If Chris Hughton is given the job, then he should come and stay in Ghana and form his local Black Stars to ensure that the nucleus of the team should come from them. He should be able to create and also train strikers for the Black Stars,” he stated.
Ghana recorded one win and two defeats at the Mundial and finished at the bottom of Group H.

Jennifer Lawrenceshared her thoughts on the history of female-led action movies in a new interview, but the “Hunger Games” star is getting some flack for not quite getting it right.
The Oscar winner spoke with fellow actress Viola Davis in an interview for Variety published on Wednesday, in which she mused on the past state of action movies with a female lead.
“I remember when I was doing ‘Hunger Games,’ nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work – because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead,” Lawrence told Davis, who this year starred in her own action-heavy film, “The Woman King.”
The “Silver Linings Playbook” actress went on to say that it makes her “so happy every single time” she sees a movie that proves women can indeed occupy those roles in movies.
People on social media were quick to point out, however, that Lawrence was far from the first female action hero, with many tweets referencing Sigourney Weaver in the “Alien” franchise, Linda Hamilton in the “Terminator” movies and Pam Grier in films like “Foxy Brown” – all of which predate “The Hunger Games” franchise. (The first film, based on the popular YA series of novels, came out in 2012, while the last movie was released in 2015)
“It is untrue that no one had ever put a woman in an action movie before Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Hunger Games,’” Franklin Leonard, founder of The Black List, a platform that helps film and TV writers get their screenplays read by influential Hollywood figures, said, responding to a clip of the interview on Twitter. “It is absolutely true that Hollywood had and has a real bias against women driven action movies because of this ridiculous belief about who identifies with whom.”
Other examples brought to light in comments on Twitter and beyond pointed to Michelle Yeoh in “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and other films, Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in the “Resident Evil” franchise, Uma Thurman in “Kill Bill” and Angelina Jolie in the “Tomb Raider” movies.
CNN has reached out to representatives of Jennifer Lawrence for clarification on her statement.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has fought off claims that it is administering expired Covid-19 vaccines.
The Service says such claims are completely unfounded and the citizenry should ignore same.
Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye made the denial at a press conference and explained that the Pfizer vaccine currently being administered has not expired.
The GHS boss stated the vaccine has a span of 15 months and not 12 as is being speculated.
“The current expiry for Pfizer is 15 months and not the12 months. This issue that we are administering the expired vaccine is not true,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also disclosed that his outfit will from Wednesday, December 14, re-embark on a massive vaccination ahead of the Yuletide.
According to him, this is aimed preventing outbreak of the virus after the season.
The 25-year-old was selected for the team by coach Otto Addo to play Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup play-off final.
Owusu made his debut for the Black Stars during the second half of the return leg as Black Stars held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium to seal qualification to the global showpiece on the away goals rule after the first leg ended in goalless draw in Kumasi.
“I was a little bit surprised because it was a really important game. I was in the squad before and to be called for those two games I was like ‘wow so big,” he said on Star Connect.
“I was happy and so proud. My family was very proud.”
“As a player, that is the type of game you want to play,” he added.
“I think every player wants to feel this kind of pressure, this kind of difficulty game, a game that can decide a lot of things for your career.
“I was excited and motivated to be there. If you were part of the squad, you’re a part of the squad that qualified [Ghana] to the World Cup which is amazing. It’s history.”
The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) has advised the business community to adjust the prices of goods and services to reflect the gains being made by the national currency because it recognizes the efforts being made by the government and the Bank of Ghana to stabilize the Cedi.
The cedi to dollar exchange rate hit $1 to GH15 this year, but it currently trades just around GH12.50 to the dollar.
The GUTA asked the government to continue with greater efforts to maintain the program and provide assistance to the business community in a statement released over the weekend.
“As the value of the Cedi begins to appreciate, GUTA wishes to appeal to members of the business community to also adjust prices of goods and services accordingly, to make the consuming public feel the impact of this positive trend,” the statement added.
“We hope to see further and continuous appreciation of the Cedi and envisage that the economy will turn around in the shortest possible time,” GUTA said.

Traders in Kantamanto are bemoaning the low patronage of items on the market as the festive season approaches.
With barely two weeks to Christmas, one would expect that sales of clothes or fashion apparel will boom.
However, vendors of fashion apparel are lamenting the low sales.
Kantamanto is one of the biggest market centers in the country where one can afford both retail and wholesale clothes at a cheaper price. It is therefore not surprising that people travel far and near for shopping at ‘Kanta’.
But something has changed in recent years. Traders in the business say Kantamanto is no more the “donkomi” market we know.
They lament the high prices of fashion apparel and low sales and blame it on various contributing factors.
According to them, the cedi depreciation against the dollar and other major trading currencies have affected sales this festive season.
“Prices of things have changed. Things we used to pay less, we pay more now. The rise of the dollar and other trading currencies has affected the prices of goods,” a trader told JoyNews.
Some of the traders say the preference for online shopping has in some way, affected their clothing businesses because they don’t do delivery and online advertisement.
“We’ve been working with online vendors. People who work in offices do not have the luxury of time to walk in and purchase clothes; unless the online vendors advertise and deliver the clothes to them. This has reduced the number of people who walk in to buy,”
It is no news that the cost of fuel has affected everything in the country and the clothing business is not left out. The vendors assert that the high cost of fuel is having adverse effects on the prices and sale of clothes. They claim that people are not buying due to the high prices.
“Although the cost of fuel has been reduced, transportation remains the same,” the trader added.
Meanwhile, some customers say they prefer to buy clothes at wholesale prices at Kantamanto and in turn, sell them online and deliver them to people who cannot travel to get these clothes.
“I won’t post this for 50 cedis, the price at which I bought it here; but rather 80 cedis because the cost of transportation is high.”
But let’s not forget that e-commerce in the fashion industry comes with its snag. Haven’t heard of “What I ordered versus what I got?” This is a subject for another day.

American singer and songwriter, Robert Sylvester Kelly popularly known as R. Kelly convicted for multiple sex offences just dropped the biggest surprise album of 2022. Titled “I Admit It” with lyrics that address the years of allegations levelled against the sex-offender.
The new album full of tracks includes some that appear to reference the sexual assault allegations against him.
Earlier this year, the singer was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
He was also recently found guilty of three child pornography counts and three counts of enticing minors for sex in a separate case, in Chicago.
The 55-year-old released a new 13-track album, titled I Admit It, which has been made available on Apple Music and Spotify.
The last three songs are titled I Admit It (I Did It) part one, part two, and part three.
He reflected on his previous misdeeds in the last three songs, slamming the accusations he has been met with.
‘How they gon’ say I don’t respect these women when all I’ve done is represent,’ the publication claims he could be heard singing on one track. ‘You mad I’ve got some girlfriends’.
He also claimed the allegations that he had ‘brainwashed’ and ‘kidnapped’ women sounded ‘silly’, and referenced the parents of one woman he was allegedly intimate with.
Sony Music, which owns the rights to much of the singer’s catalogue said it is an unofficial release, made up largely of unreleased songs from the last few years.
In the wake of a #MuteRKelly movement, Spotify managers in 2018 stated that they would be removing the I Believe I Can Fly star’s music from playlists and are no longer sponsoring his work.
The Member of Parliament (MP)for Ningo Prampram, Sam George has reacted to a comment by the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer urging Ghanaian MPs to respect the rights of all persons, irrespective of their sexual orientation.
Dissatisfied by her remarks, Mr Sam Goerge asserted that the United States can only respond to matters of LGBTQ+ rights in Ghana if the US President allows polygamy in his country.
Sam George believes that the United States lacks the moral grounding to raise issues about human rights because the country is against marriage to more than one spouse.
“We will take a lecture from the American ambassador when her government decides not to discriminate against people who have a right to polygamy in the United States.
“When the US is able to respect the right of persons to have more than one wife legally, which is allowed in Ghana.
“When they respect the right of persons to marry multiple women or multiple men as they so choose which is also the fundamental human right to association, then we will have a conversation. But until they are able to respect the right of persons in the US who want to be polygamous, then they don’t have any moral right to talk to us.” Sam George said on JoyNews’ The Probe on Sunday.
The MP further stated that until the US signed up with the International Criminal Court, they cannot lecture Ghana on human rights.
“…for now the US government is the last government that should speak about human rights. They are the biggest abusers of human rights and so we will give them a lecture on human rights. They have to respect the fundamental human rights of people and not the other way round.”
International organizations have raised concerns that the Bill could infringe on the rights of LGBTQ+ persons who are a minority group in the country.
In spite of these concerns, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has indicated that “the sexual rights and human values Bill that is being handled by the committee will definitely be passed before the next elections. That Bill will go through,” he stressed.
Primary education must be prioritized in resource allocation, according to Mr. John Ato Breboh, a CHRAJ Senior Principal Investigator in Tema. This is because it deals with the essential building blocks of a person’s development.
The state is in charge of financing elementary education and keeping up with educational services.
By expanding the private sector or encouraging public-private partnerships to finance the educational infrastructure, a government cannot escape that obligation, according to Mr. Breboh.
Mr. Breboh stated during the joint launch of a series of activities to commemorate the 2022 Human Rights Day by CHRAJ and the Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Office in Tema.
The global community has adopted the 2022 Human Rights Day slogan as “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All” and the call to action is #StandUp4HumanRights” in recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
The commemoration was jointly launched by Mr. Breboh, Ms. Isabella Ayiam, Mrs. Dzifa Adatsi CHRAJ Investigators, and Mr. Francis Ameyibor, Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Manager at the GNA-Tema Industrial News Hub platform.
Mr. Breboh said educational institutions must be accessible to everyone, without discrimination and this should include physical and economic accessibility.
He said the essence of the right to education means that no one shall be denied a right to education.
In practice, this means an individual’s right to access to the education available, or in more concrete terms, the right of access to the existing public educational institutions on a non-discriminatory basis.
“A violation of this right is restricting access to girls (Pregnant) and of people belonging to a specific ethnic, linguistic or religious group to the existing public educational institutions.
“In addition, education provided for by the state should be of the same quality for all groups in society; girls, for example, should not be given education of an inferior standard compared to boys,” he said.
Mr. Breboh said accessibility includes two other dimensions: physical accessibility – education has to be within safe physical reach for children, and economic accessibility – education has to be affordable to all.
He said as the global community marks human rights day the country must adhere to core international treaties relevant to guarantee the right to education by every child.

Global music streaming platforms Spotify and Apple Music have removed R. Kelly’sprison album ‘I Did It’. The One time heavyweight American musician, Robert Sylvester Kelly popularly known as R. Kelly is a sex offender convicted of racketeering and multiple sex offenses.

R. Kelly is a sex offender convicted of racketeering and multiple sex offenses.
Although Kelly’s team said the singer “is having intellectual property stolen from him” and that neither him nor his entourage was responsible for this release, Sony Music, the company in charge of Kelly’s musical rights, claims that the album had only been temporarily and secretly made public, indicating that it had been a bootleg.
Sources say that Some of the tracks on the album date back to 2018 but have only existed on Soundcloud, until today. It’s unclear who’s responsible for the release but recall that in 2018 Spotify made the call to stop promoting his music following allegations, before the now 55-year-old singer was found guilty September 2021 to serving a 30 year sentence.
The Director of Industrial Relations of the GPRTU, Alhaji Abass Imoro, indicated that the recent reduction in fuel prices is not significant enough to warrant a reduction in transport fares at the moment.
According to him, they have not done well as transport operators for not increasing fares anytime the prices of fuel were increased thereby causing their business to suffer.
“First of all we have to apologise to the general public for something we should have brought to the public domain but did not. When we realized that our business was declining, we took it upon ourselves and researched into it to find out what is wrong and it was then that we found out that from May 2020 to November 2022 fuel prices have gone up by four hundred and seventy three percent (473%) whiles upward adjustment in transport fares has been done only sixty seven percent (67%)” Imoro Abass told Alfred Ocansey in an interview on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show.
He further noted that from January to November 2022 alone fuel prices have gone up by two hundred and forty three percent (243%) hence it is not true that transport operators increase fares anytime there is an increase in fuel prices.
“Passengers think when they increase fuel we increase fares. It is not true; we normally don’t regularly increase transport fares whenever fuel prices go up, and that was the mistake we made and that was why I said we first had to render an apology to the general public. If we had come out early with this analogy, I don’t think passengers would hold us responsible for increasing lorry fares anytime there is increase in fuel prices” Abass Imoro stated

Additionally, he urged consulting engineers in the nation to create organizations that value good governance, provide job security for workers, support rotational positions, and enable young engineers to contribute their cutting-edge ideas to the long-term viability of the company.
At the Ghana Consulting Engineers’ annual general meeting and conference on 2022 urban environment sustainability on Thursday in Accra, Ing. Magnus made these recommendations.
Under the theme: “Sustainability: Promoting Circular Economy and Governance”, Ing. Magnus Lincoln Quarshie explained that in Ghana, most of businesses lack basic systems that could help them to build sustainable enterprises.
Most businesses in Ghana die with the exit of the owners because of lack of succession plan and sustainable culture.
The keynote speaker for the occasion, Dr Eric Twum, CEO of Institute of Environmental Assessment, said a circular economy was a model of production and consumption, which involved sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible.
He further said the circular economy was a systems solutions framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss and waste.
He also hinted that in Ghana, one-third of food produced for human consumption goes to rot or waste.
Other speakers who spoke on Promoting Circular Economy at the conference included: Arch. Esinam Tagboto, Ing. Bernadette Dzifa Agbefu, Ms Keziah Quarshie and was moderated by Ing. Kwabena Bempong.
If you are a partner of a photographer, be prepared for these beautiful things during your relationship.
1. He pays attention to details.
Be prepared for your man to notice to smallest of changes and details, be it the new shoes you have on or the fact that you did something different to your hair.
His eyes do not miss a thing. (Sorry girls, the zit you thought you covered up- well he noticed it!). In most cases, this is a boon seeing how he recalls everything you say and like.
2. He is a very patient man.
Years of adjusting cameras, focusing lenses and repeatedly trying to capture an object perfectly have made him extremely patient. He knows that good things come to those who wait, so don’t be surprised if before a night out he patiently waits for you to get dressed for an hour without cribbing or asking you to hurry up. He values you.
3. Be prepared to pose.
Now that you two are together, he has someone he finds truly beautiful to take pictures of all the time. He will take many pictures of you, some when you are not looking, some while you’re pigging out, and some when you probably feel like you look half asleep. Nevertheless, he finds them beautiful and may heaven save you if try to delete one! These pictures are truly precious to him.
4. He finds beauty in the simplest things possible.
Don’t be surprised if he stops walking abruptly and pauses to take a snap of a rusty chair in an alley. This may seem crazy to you but he finds this aesthetic. Similarly, even on your worst hair days, don’t be surprised if he looks at you as if you are the most beautiful girl in the world! Because for him, you are
5. On a road trip, be prepared to hear a lot about the landscape.
He will stress the beauty of the snow-capped Alps against the Italian scenery plenty of times. Sometimes he will stop mid conversation and gaze at the landscape. On the same note, his camera probably has more pictures of palm trees and flowers than you and him. Nature truly fascinates him, and if not already, this is something you yourself will learn to eventually admire.
6. As much as you try to blend in, his camera(s) will shout out “TOURISTS!”
Don’t be surprised if at every outing during a trip abroad, the fact that you two are tourists is obvious. His camera(s) will draw attention to you two, but he doesn’t mind. It works better than the classic tourist shirt and straw-hat, I tell you!
7. You will visit beautiful and interesting places.
Churches, museums, scenic beaches- they are his world- he loves them and will not hesitate to take you along to show you what he enjoys. Sometimes you two may have to take a detour during your way to the city centre because he saw a beautiful alley he hasn’t taken pictures of yet.
8. Be prepared to learn a lot about photography.
He will teach you his passion, because you are the girl he loves, and he wishes for you to admire the beauty that he sees in trivial things. Vertical and horizontal symmetry, depth and perspective do not have the same meaning for you any more. Don’t be surprised if you have long talks about why the sunbed, the grass and the swimming pool are symmetrical, I assure you that you will learn a lot!
9. Lastly, he will love you for trying to learn and adjust to his lifestyle.
My boyfriend laughs and kisses me lovingly whenever I call his fixed focal length camera lens (yes, I just asked him for the name of this lens!) “too zoomed in”.
He will admire the fact that you wish to learn more about his passion, and don’t be afraid to embrace his hobby. You might just end up enjoying it as much too!
The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed dissatisfaction over the rate at which corruptionis destroying the country’s scarce resources.
The outspoken chief said if the government had dealt properly with issues of corruption, the current economic crisis wouldn’t have been upon the country.
According to him, the government has not backed expenditure with honesty and prudence.
Togbe Afede XIV opined that had these two virtues been exhibited, the country would not be needing a loan from external sources.
According to him, the country’s budget deficits would have been reduced as well.
“Ghana Integrity Initiative estimated that Ghana ‘loses close to USD3billion to corruption annually’.
“There is no doubt that our budget deficit would have been narrower, and we probably would not need to borrow from external sources, if honesty and prudence had guided our spending,” he said.
He thus blamed this on the use of single source in awarding government contracts.
This, he explained that makes way for government apparatchiks and cronies to dupe the state.
“The resort to single sourcing or limited tender in the award of contracts, under false certificates
of urgency, has been harmful.
“It has allowed a few to deploy foul means to secure contracts for relatives and cronies at inflated prices that hurt everybody.
“While some exploit ‘urgency’, other officials hide under ‘confidentiality’ to appropriate our limited resources into personal wealth.
The venerable chief made these comments in in a 14-page opinion piece over the weekend.
