A American military ship destroyed three flying machines after three regular boats were attacked in the Red Sea, according to the US military.
The USS Carney helped ships from 14 countries, including the UK, on Sunday after they were attacked from areas of Yemen controlled by Houthi rebels backed by Iran.
Two ships were hit by missiles, but no one got hurt.
A person from the Houthi group said their navy attacked two ships from Israel.
The Israeli army said the boats were not linked to Israel.
The Houthis, who are supported by Iran, took over some of Yemen in 2014 and caused a civil war.
Lately, it started attacking ships connected to Israel in the Red Sea because of Israel’s conflict with Hamas, which is backed by Iran, in Gaza.
The US military in charge of the Middle East said that the USS Carney found a missile blowing up near a cargo ship on Sunday morning.
It later destroyed a flying robot that was flying towards the Carney itself, but Centcom said it was not clear if the robot was trying to attack the Carney.
That day, the Unity Explorer got a little damaged when a missile from the Houthi-controlled area hit it.
The US ship found and destroyed another drone that was coming towards it while it was helping a ship in trouble.
Later, two more boats – one of them partly owned by the UK, both flying the flag of Panama – said they were hit by missiles. While going to help another ship, the USS Carney destroyed a third drone.
Centcom stated that the attacks put the lives of the ships’ crews in danger and posed a clear threat to global trade and maritime safety.
“We think that Iran is helping the Houthis in Yemen with these attacks,” the statement said.
The United States will think about the best ways to respond, with the help of its friends from other countries.
Earlier this week, a US warship caught armed men who had taken control of a tanker connected to Israel near Yemen.
Centcom said that rebels from Houthi-controlled area in Yemen fired two missiles at the warship.
The Houthis say they are part of a group connected to Iran that opposes Israel, the US, and the West.

Efforts to save people are still going on. Many people mine without permission in Zambia, which makes a lot of copper. -

Volcanic eruption kills eleven hikers in Indonesia
Rescuers say they found eleven hikers dead near the crater of Indonesia’s Marapi volcano after it erupted over the weekend.
Three individuals were saved on Monday. The search for 12 missing people has been stopped because of a small volcanic eruption.
At the time the volcano erupted, there were 75 hikers in the area, but most of them were safely taken away.
Mount Marapi, a volcano in Indonesia, threw ash 3 kilometers (9,800 feet) into the air on Sunday.
Officials have put in place the second-highest alert level and told people not to go within 3km of the volcano.
Abdul Malik, who is in charge of the Padang Search and Rescue Agency, said that the three people who were saved near the crater were “not feeling well and had some burns. ” Forty-nine climbers were saved from the area on Monday. Some of them were also hurt from burns.
On Sunday, a video showed a big cloud of ash from the volcano spreading in the sky, and ash covering cars and roads.
Rescuers helped bring the dead and injured people down the difficult mountain and onto ambulances with loud sirens.
“Some people got burned because it was really hot, and they have been taken to the hospital,” said Rudy Rinaldi, who leads the West Sumatra Disaster Mitigation Agency.
One of the hikers who was saved was in pain and said “God is great” while being carried by a rescuer. This was reported by AFP news agency.
Jodi Haryawan, who speaks for the local team that looks for and saves people, told the news that it would be too risky to keep looking for people while the volcano was erupting.
Mount Marapi is a really tall mountain in Indonesia on an island called Sumatra. It is 2,891 meters (9,485 feet) high.
The Indonesian islands are located in a place where lots of earthquakes and volcanoes happen because the plates under the Earth’s surface come together there. -

Essequibo: Venezuelans vote to seize oil sector controlled by Guyana
Venezuelans have voted in big numbers to say they want a piece of land with a lot of oil that Guyana has been in charge of for a long time.
Officials say that over 95% of people agreed to create a new state in Essequibo.
Caracas says the area has belonged to Venezuela since it became independent from Spain 200 years ago, but Guyana says it was given to British Guiana in the late 19th Century.
The argument started again in 2015 because a big oil find was made in the ocean.
President Nicolás Maduro said the referendum went really well and that most people in Venezuela voted “Yes”.
Essequibo is a big area in Guyana, it is 159,500 sq km and has around a sixth of the country’s population.
The two neighbors have been arguing for a long time about the status of the region.
In 1899, an international court gave the land to Britain, which was ruling Guyana at the time. The governments of Venezuela have said that they think the decision was not fair.
In 1966, Guyana became independent. Britain and Venezuela agreed to create a group to talk about the dispute over the land. But after sixty years, they still haven’t found a solution.
The vote is happening because in 2015, ExxonMobil found oil in the waters near Essequibo.
In 2018, Guyana filed a case at the International Court of Justice to decide if a decision made in 1899 about the territory is still valid. Guyana wants to show that the territory belongs to them. The ICJ has not made a decision yet.
Venezuela doesn’t agree that the ICJ can make decisions about this problem, but they have been going to the court’s meetings.
In September this year, tensions went up when Guyana had an auction. Oil companies bid to explore for oil in Essequibo waters.
The referendum asked people if they agreed with Venezuela’s claim over Essequibo and if they supported the government’s decision to not accept the ICJ’s authority.
They were also asked if they agreed to “strongly fight against in a legal way” Guyana’s use of the waters near the land and if they supported Essequibo being part of Venezuela’s map.
The president of the country’s election authority said that more than 95% of voters agreed with all the questions.
Guyana is upset about the vote and thinks it is trying to take over their land. The ICJ told Venezuela not to do anything that would change the way things are in the Essequibo.
Critics have also criticized the poll as an effort by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to stir up strong feelings of patriotism before the 2024 election.
We don’t know yet what the Venezuelan government will do after the referendum, but if they try to take the land by force, other countries will strongly oppose it.
One important thing is that the US put sanctions on Venezuela’s oil exports again, after starting to lessen them in October. -

443 Children rescued by South Africa in significant anti-trafficking operation
South African police stopped lots of buses with 443 young kids from Zimbabwe.
This happened after the BMA and the police conducted a covert operation at the Beitbridge border post on Saturday night.
Michael Masiapato, the commissioner of BMA, said that more than 40 buses carrying children were stopped at the North Gate of the border post with Zimbabwe before they could enter South Africa.
He said the kids were traveling without their parents or guardians and without permission letters, even though they had passports like they were supposed to.
The bus drivers said the kids were going to play sports, but the reports said their Zimbabwean grandparents sent them to their parents in South Africa.
Mr Masiapato said that the children were being taken against their will. They got in touch with authorities in Zimbabwe and sent the children back to their home country.
He said that the problem of moving people against their will is getting worse and he promised to keep doing missions during the holiday season.
More than one million people from Zimbabwe live and work in South Africa. It is thought that the kids were going to visit their parents in South Africa for Christmas break after their schools closed.
South Africa has been dealing with a lot of people entering the country illegally from Zimbabwe in the north. -

Death toll from flooding in Somalia rises to 110 – UN
Somalia‘s floods have killed 110 people so far, according to the UN humanitarian agency UN OCHA.
More than one million people have been forced to leave their homes and 2. 4 million people have been affected in 36 regions, the organization said.
UN OCHA told people that there is a big chance of sickness spreading after hearing about possible cases of cholera and watery diarrhea in Hirshabelle and Galmudug.
The agency said that only 30% of the people affected have gotten help. But they have sent out 37 boats to bring supplies to the flooded areas and rescue people who are stuck.
In the past few weeks, Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia have had very heavy rains, which have caused deaths, people having to leave their homes, and a lot of damage.
The floods happen because of a weather pattern called El Niño. It happens when the Pacific Ocean gets warmer.
Scientists say that really bad weather like floods will happen more often and be worse because the air is getting warmer from climate change. -

On Tuesday, a person who supports Mr. Katumbi was killed at a gathering while fighting with people who support the ruling party in the eastern Maniema province. -

‘I will not disturb God’ – Kwame Sefa Kayi rejects Bawumia running mate prophecy
Seasoned radio personality and host of Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Kwami Sefa Kayi, has unequivocally rejected a recent prophecy suggesting he could be named as the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. During the December 1, 2023 edition of Kokrokoo, a listener shared a prophecy foreseeing Sefa Kayi in the role, to which he promptly responded, asserting his limitations and capabilities.
“Don’t worry, I will not be Bawumia’s running mate. It will not happen, so, don’t worry,” Sefa Kayi declared on air. “I will not be his running mate; they say every man should know his limitations and capabilities. Prof. Agyekum has a saying that ‘there are some prayers, you are only disturbing God when you say it.’”
This recent development comes in the wake of a prophecy made in October 2017 by Head Pastor Samuel Okyere of Empire of Prayer Ministries, predicting that Sefa Kayi would become the youngest president in Ghana’s history. The prophecy stated that after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Sefa Kayi would assume the presidency without the need for a campaign.
According to Prophet Okyere Amankwaa, Sefa Kayi had been chosen by God for the presidency, and he would hold the position for eight years. The pastor urged the seasoned broadcast journalist to tread cautiously, as he would be “one of the presidents Ghanaians will love so much.”
It remains to be seen how these prophecies will unfold in the future, adding an intriguing layer to Kwami Sefa Kayi’s already illustrious career in the Ghanaian media landscape.

He talked about the dangerous attack in Jerusalem today, which Hamas said its members did. Netanyahu said that Hamas is trying to kill us everywhere.
I told him: We promised to get rid of Hamas. We will not be stopped no matter what.
Netanyahu told Blinken that Israel will keep fighting until it meets three goals: freeing all hostages, getting rid of Hamas, and making sure Gaza doesn’t pose a threat again. -

Israel warned by US over hostilities return
The US diplomat Antony Blinken has told Israel to make sure that the people in Gaza are safe before they start any new military action.
Blinken is in the Middle East to talk with leaders. He met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said again that he will free all hostages and get rid of Hamas.
More people who were kept as captives will be let go on Thursday. They will be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners. This is happening while there is a break in the fighting in Gaza, which has been going on for seven days.
Discussions are still happening about making the truce longer. Egypt and Qatar are working together to add two more days to the truce.

Cameroon fights vaccine hesitancy for malaria
Cameroon’s Health Minister, Dr. Manaouda Malachie, wants people to believe in the government’s health plan, even though some people are unsure about the new malaria vaccines that came to the country nine days ago.
On Wednesday, he talked about the RTS,S vaccine and how it helps fight malaria. He said the testing in Kenya, Ghana, and Malawi was good.
“Because the vaccine worked well in the tests, it will be introduced for use. ” We can help all kids and save 2,000 lives each year by making sure all children receive these services throughout their childhood.
According to the World Health Organization, RTS,S can stop about 75% of malaria sickness.
Cameroon was the first African country to get the RTS,S vaccines after the pilot phase ended.
However, in a country where many people are unsure about vaccines, the government has not been able to convince a lot of Cameroonians to accept the arrival of over 330,000 vaccine doses.
“We lived in a warm place, so we’re used to getting malaria. ” “I don’t understand why they have to give the vaccines to kids,” a person in the area told the media.
She said, “I won’t give my kids vaccines. I won’t let them get vaccinated at school either. ”
Every year, 6 million people in Cameroon get malaria and 4,000 of them die in hospitals, according to the WHO. Most of the people who are impacted are kids younger than five years old. -

US House of Representatives to vote this week on Santos’ expulsion
The US House of Representatives is going to vote again to kick Congressman George Santos out of the group this week.
Two times before, people tried to remove the New Yorker from his seat, but now a report on his behavior in office has made it very likely that he will be removed from his position.
Republicans want the 35-year-old to quit. They don’t want to have another vote.
Mr Santos admits that the next vote will probably pass, but he is still resistant.
This is the third time we are experiencing this. “I don’t think it’s important,” he told reporters at the Capitol on Tuesday.
“The politicians in Washington DC can send me home if they think this process was fair and constitutional. I wish them well. ”
The Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, said he thinks the voting will happen on Friday.
Mr Johnson said on Wednesday that he has concerns about removing Mr Santos because it could create a rule that could affect other lawmakers later on.
“We will let people vote based on what they feel is right,” said Mr Johnson at a news conference on Wednesday. “I believe that people will make the decision carefully and honestly. ”
It’s not common for Congress to kick out members, and if the latest vote passes, Mr Santos will only be the sixth lawmaker in House history to be removed.
Earlier this month, a group in charge of making sure politicians behave well said he took money from his campaign and used his role as a candidate to make money for himself.
The panel’s final report accused the Republican of using campaign money for Botox treatments, buying things on OnlyFans, and taking vacations in the Hamptons.
Mr Santos criticized the report as a “political attack,” but he also said he won’t try to be the president again because of the investigation.
The Long Islander is in trouble with the law and is accused of doing many bad things, like stealing money and breaking campaign finance rules.
He stayed in office after two votes to kick him out. Some people said he didn’t do anything wrong and should have a fair trial.
Some people who did not support those actions said they wanted to wait for the House’s investigation on ethics to finish first. Some of the members who previously supported Mr. Santos now want him to be removed.
When the House started working again on Tuesday, two Democrats and the Republican leader of the ethics committee each submitted a motion to remove someone from their position.
Both resolutions, which are important, need to be discussed and voted on in the House within the next two days, or before Thursday.
The Republican leaders said they will allow time for discussion on Thursday and then hold a vote on Friday.
The Democratic measure is like a backup plan. It’s meant to make sure there’s a vote if the Republicans don’t bring up their own resolution this week, according to co-author Robert Garcia.
MrSantos has been criticizing his colleagues online since the ethics report was released, and he is expected to complain more during a press conference on Thursday morning.
His party is finding it hard to decide if they should vote to remove him.
First, it would decrease the Republicans’ small House majority by even more.
If Mr Santos is kicked out, the Governor of New York has 10 days to set up a vote. The vote would happen 70 to 80 days after that. -

Five teenagers found guilty of killing Swedish taxi driver
Swedish court has given sentences to four teenage boys and a 15-year-old girl for killing a man she had accused of raping her.
A taxi driver was found dead in a forest in central Sweden in March.
The Uppsala court said that the man was convinced to go there with the promise of sex, because of the girl’s earlier claims.
He was overpowered and his body wasn’t found until a week later.
An advertisement is a message that companies use to promote their products or services.
The oldest brother, who was 18 years old, was sentenced to life in prison.
Four other people, who were under 18 when the events happened, were given sentences of three to four years in a special jail for young people who break the law.
The three older brothers were said to have done something very bad and were punished for it. The girl and her boyfriend, who were 15 at the time of the murder, were not found to be at the place where it happened. They were still found guilty of helping with the murder.
Even though the five teenagers said they didn’t do it, the court found them guilty based on evidence the prosecutors presented.
The taxi driver was found dead, hanging from a tree. The court found that the people who killed him tried to make it look like he killed himself.
The prosecution showed messages between the teenagers as evidence of a plan to commit murder.
On 20 March, four days before the person went missing, the girl told a friend that her rapist’s brothers are going to meet him.
One brother said, “Let’s do it on Friday,” and the other brother said, “Okay. ”
After the murder, one of the brothers took the victim’s phone and stole money from his bank account.
The girl said she didn’t know the brothers were going to kill the man. She thought they were just going to hurt him.
Lars Holmgard, who leads the Uppsala District Court, decided that the brothers intended to kill the man from the time they bought the rope found at the scene.
“We think the plan was for the victim to be hanged from the rope. “ -

Israel and Hamas ceasefire extended
Israel and Hamas have decided to continue their ceasefire for one more day, just before it was going to end.
The short break in fighting will continue for another week after Qatar helped negotiate an agreement.
The agreement resulted in many hostages being set free by Hamas in exchange for releasing Palestinians from prisons and providing aid to Gaza.
On Wednesday night, 16 people who were held by Hamas were set free, and 30 Palestinians were also released.
Up to now, 102 Israeli hostages have been let go, and 210 Palestinian prisoners have been set free. Around 140 Israelis are still being held as prisoners.
Israel’s army said the short break in fighting will continue because people are working to free the hostages and follow the agreed plan.
The prime minister’s office said the truce will continue for another seven days. They got a new list of women and children who are being held as hostages, but didn’t say how many names are on the list. Hamas also said that they agreed to extend the truce for another week without giving more information.
The first agreement was supposed to last for four days, but it has been extended two times.
When the deal was made, Israel said they would stop fighting for one more day for every 10 hostages released.
Antony Blinken, who is in charge of US foreign affairs, said that the truce is working and should keep going.
“We have seen in the past week that hostages are coming home and reuniting with their families, which is very good,” he said during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Tel Aviv on Thursday.
“It has also allowed more humanitarian help to reach the innocent people in Gaza who really need it. ”
On Wednesday, Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, said again that they will start fighting again once the truce is over.
“We will keep fighting until the very end, no matter what. ” This is what I believe, and everyone in the government and the army and the public supports it. This is exactly what we will do, he said on Wednesday.
Before the extension was approved, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that the Gaza Strip was experiencing a very serious humanitarian crisis.
He said he was glad to talk about continuing the truce, but he also said we need a real ceasefire for the sake of helping people.
The UN thinks that over 1. 8 million people in Gaza have left their homes in the last seven weeks. Around 60% of them are staying in 156 buildings that are owned by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa.
Earlier this week, a doctor from the World Health Organization said they checked the shelters and found that many people were getting sick. The kids were getting diarrhea 100 times more than usual.
The truce has stopped the Israeli air strikes for now. They started after Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking hundreds of hostages on 7 October.
Since then, Israel has attacked Gaza by air and on the ground and about 15,000 people have been killed. Children make up 40% of the people who have died. This information comes from health ministry officials in Gaza, which is controlled by the group Hamas. Big areas in the north of the Strip have been destroyed or badly damaged. -

Ethiopian cholera outbreak claims at least 23 lives – UN
Save the Children says that 23 people have died from cholera in eastern Ethiopia after flooding.
The UK relief agency said that over 770 people have gotten cholera in the Somali region within the last two weeks. This area has been hit the hardest by the recent flooding and heavy rains.
The heavy rain has affected 1. 5 million people in the country. 600,000 people have had to leave their homes because of the rain, according to the UN.
However, only 10% of the people who need help are getting it because Ethiopia doesn’t have enough money to help everyone.
Save the Children said that more than 90 districts in Ethiopia have cholera. They think that the situation could get worse because more rain is coming in at least three regions.
The big rains in Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya happened because of two weather patterns called El Niño and Indian Ocean Dipole. -

This means there are about 220 trucks that come through each day.
Before the war, the head of the UN relief agency said that around 500 trucks were going into Gaza every day.
Some organizations that help people in Gaza say they don’t have enough aid to give to all the people who need it.More update on this story soon…

Since then, the health ministry in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, said over 14,800 people have been killed in Israel’s campaign to fight back, including around 6,000 children.

Man found guilty of murder following gunshot at park party
A man has been convicted of killing another man who was shot during a gathering of about 150 people in a park in east London.
On Wednesday, the court heard that Chase Griffith, 22, from Southgate, ran away to St. Lucia after the murder.
Sam Brown, who is 28 years old and lives in Walthamstow, got hurt at Cheney Row Park in Waltham Forest on July 24th, 2022.
He was shot in the chest and died in the hospital.
The court was told that both men went to a party at the park on the evening of July 23rd, and a man was stabbed early the next morning.
Jurors were told that after Griffith stabbed someone, he took out a gun and shot Mr. Brown because he thought he had something to do with it.
Mr Brown got into his car and drove a little bit before falling asleep. He was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries.
The police said Griffith ran away from the place and went home to Southgate. There, he got rid of the tracksuit he was wearing.
Several days later, on July 27th, the killer changed how he looked, including his hair, and got on a plane to St Lucia from Gatwick Airport.
‘We will never find resolution’
The police said that Griffith stayed in Saint Lucia until he was sent back to his home country.
Mr Brown’s family said in a statement that they will never fully understand what happened to their son that night and it’s hard for them to get closure.
“We need to continue living our lives because that’s what Sam would have wanted. ” He will always be our angel and we will never forget him.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, who was in charge of the Metropolitan Police’s investigation, said: “This was a difficult investigation. ” Many people saw Griffith shoot Sam at the gathering, but they were afraid to tell the police.
Griffith was found guilty of having a gun and will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on a date that is not yet known. -

70-year-old woman from Uganda gives birth to twins – Hospital
A 70-year-old woman from Uganda just gave birth to twins using IVF treatment. She is now the oldest woman in Africa to have children.
Safina Namukwaya gave birth to a boy and a girl at the Women’s Hospital International and Fertility Centre in Kampala, Uganda.
“This story is not only about successful medical treatment, but also about the inner strength and determination of people,” the hospital posted on Facebook.
After Ms Namukwaya had a successful caesarean delivery on Wednesday.
Ms Namukwaya told the NTV channel that she had her second baby in three years, after having a girl in 2020.
She said she had a lot of problems during her pregnancy, like the father leaving her.
Men don’t want to hear that you are pregnant with more than one baby. “Since I got here, my husband has never come to visit me,” she said.
Ms Namukwaya said she didn’t know how she would take care of the children, but she was happy to have them after being made fun of for not having children for many years.
“Once, a little boy teased me and said that my mother cursed me to never have a child and die,” she said. -

Henry Kissinger, former US Secretary of State dies at age 100
Henry Kissinger, a former top US official who made big decisions in the Cold War, has passed away at 100.
He was the top diplomat and national security adviser for the United States during the Nixon and Ford administrations.
Even after he stopped being in charge in the 1970s, many leaders still asked for his advice for many years.
The ex-diplomat, who was born in Germany, passed away at his house in Connecticut.
Former US President George W Bush paid respects, saying the US had “lost one of the most reliable and unique voices on foreign affairs”.
Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said that Kissinger was really good at diplomacy and genuinely cared about protecting the free world.
President Nixon’s daughters, Tricia and Julie, said that Kissinger’s life story was very special and very American.
The statement said that people will remember Henry Kissinger for all the good things he did to make peace better. “However, we will always remember his personality. ”
He was born in Germany in 1923. His family left Germany and went to the US in 1938 to escape the Nazis. His dad was a teacher. He always kept his Bavarian accent.
He became a citizen of the United States in 1943 and then served in the US Army for three years. After that, he worked in the Counter Intelligence Corps.
After finishing college and getting a PhD, he taught about how countries relate to each other at Harvard.
In 1969, President Nixon chose him to be in charge of protecting the country, which allowed him to have a lot of influence on US foreign policy.
During his time as national security adviser and secretary of state from 1969 to 1977, he helped the US stop fighting in the Vietnam War, start talking to China, and bring peace in the Yom Kippur War between Egypt, Syria, and Israel. The hard work led to the creation of shuttle diplomacy.Isaac Herzog, the president of Israel, who is in a war with Hamas, praised Kissinger’s work on the peace deal with Egypt. He wrote on social media that “the whole world still benefits from the important work he did”.
In China, where many people liked Kissinger a lot, news about his death quickly became popular on Weibo, a social media site.
China News said he was a good friend of the Chinese people in his obituary.
China Central Television praised him as an important diplomat and a key figure in US-China relations, calling him a “legend” and a “living fossil”.
Over the years, people criticized Kissinger for focusing on competing with the Soviet Union instead of human rights, and for supporting harsh rulers like Augusto Pinochet in Chile.
People were still mad about some of his decisions, even after he died. Rolling Stone wrote about Henry Kissinger saying he was a war criminal loved by America’s ruling class, who has died. And the left-leaning Huffpost called him “The Beltway Butcher” on their website.
Kissinger didn’t care about criticism.
“Their ignorance is shown by that,” the old and rough-voiced leader told CBS in an interview just before turning 100 years old.
In 1973, he won a Nobel Peace Prize with Le Duc Tho from North Vietnam. Le Duc Tho didn’t want the prize.
The award caused two people on the Nobel committee to quit.
After Kissinger stopped working for the government in 1977, he kept talking a lot about public issues. Twelve US presidents asked for his advice, from John F Kennedy to Joe Biden, and lawmakers also wanted his opinion.
Notably, Kissinger is the only American who has spoken directly with every Chinese leader from Mao Zedong to Xi Jinping.
He was on the boards of different companies and wrote 21 books about foreign policy and security.
Even at the age of 100, Kissinger continued to live a busy life. In July, he made a surprise trip to Beijing to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Despite the current tensions between China and the US, Kissinger was warmly welcomed and honored during his visit.
The White House was upset about the visit and the National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, was sad that a regular person had the chance to meet with Chinese leaders while the US government did not.
In July 2022, when he was 99 years old, Kissinger was asked during an interview with ABC on a book tour if he regretted any of his decisions.
“I’ve been thinking about these problems my whole life. ” “I enjoy doing it and it’s also my job,” he said. “I made the best suggestions I could at that time. ”
He is no longer alive, but his wife Nancy and two children, Elizabeth and David, and five grandchildren are still here. They were married for almost 50 years. -

Court dismisses objections to pipeline from Uganda to Tanzania
A local court said no to a request to stop building a $4bn (£3. 1bn) oil pipeline from Uganda to Tanzania. The pipeline is causing a lot of disagreement.
The East African Court of Justice (EACJ) said the case was filed too late and it’s not within its jurisdiction to handle it.
The East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (Eacop) is a 1,443km (896-mile) pipeline being built by the Ugandan and Tanzanian governments, TotalEnergies, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). However, local communities and rights and environmental groups are opposing its construction.
The groups are saying that the project is forcing people out of their homes, damaging burial sites along the pipeline path, and harming the environment.
Natural Justice, a group of everyday people, said that this decision shows that rich countries and African government institutions are not paying attention to how oil and gas are harming the environment and the climate.
Natural Justice and three other groups that filed the case in 2020 are going to ask for a review of the decision. -

Spain’s second top leader and Minister for Workers, Yolanda Diaz, said she was very upset by the news.
“Something important is going wrong when people who want a better life end up finding death instead. ” She said we won’t ignore this and called for Europe to do something.

Hamas hostages: Thai prisoners return to joyful families
Seventeen Thai people who were captured by Hamas for almost 50 days have been released and have come back to Bangkok.
They have been released separately from an agreement that has already seen Hamas free 70 Israeli women and children.
The truce being extended gives us hope that the last nine Thai hostages will be released.
Almost all of the kidnapped foreign workers were from Thailand. Israel hires around 30,000 people to work on farms, and they are one of the biggest groups of migrant workers there.
39 people from Thailand were killed in an attack by Hamas on Israel on 7 October.
Six people from Thailand who were taken captive were let go recently. They are now in Israel for a check-up with a doctor. However, the other people who were released are being taken home by the Thai foreign minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara.
They got to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on Thursday evening. Some of their families were excited to see them.
Chanapa and Sirirat Bupasiri left their village in the middle of the night to go to Bangkok for their brother Buddee Saengbun’s arrival.
“We didn’t sleep at all,” Chanapa said to the media as she waited outside Bangkok airport. She said they knew Buddee was ok when they saw him on the news after he was let go last week.
We didn’t know what happened to my brother. We tried a lot of things like Facebook groups and asking the department of employment for help. Some families heard about their loved ones, but we didn’t.
She cried while smiling when someone asked her what she will do when she sees her brother again. (Give people hugs. ) “She said she wanted hugs and was crying. ” “One month and 18 days. ” can be rewritten as “49 days. ” “We have been keeping track of each day. ”
The workers will go back to their homes after a short meeting with reporters. They will talk to the media and answer their questions. Many of them come from a poor area in north-east Thailand where people mainly grow rice. Many young adults leave this area to find better jobs.
Older parents who cannot travel to Bangkok, or families who cannot afford the long trip, are waiting at home.
“I’m very happy” Bunyarin Srichan is excited for his daughter Nattawaree “Yo” Mulka to come home. She was the only female Thai hostage taken by Hamas.
She says they will have a big meal with fried pork and sticky rice. She also plans to have a small ceremony to welcome their loved one home and bring back their spirits after a scary experience.
Yo’s boyfriend, who she met while working in Israel, was also taken by force, but was released with her.
Bunyarin, who has been taking care of Yo’s two children, said her daughter used to call or message three times a day before she was kidnapped in the attack on October 7th. She sent half of her money to her mom every month, which was 25,000 Thai baht ($715; £560).
Many workers borrow money to travel to Israel, so they can send money back to their families and pay back what they owe. Natthaporn Onkaew, 27, was let go on Saturday. He is the only one in his family who earns money.
Two years ago, he got a job in Israel. He sent back around $800 to $1,000 (£630-£800) to his home every month.
“I’m really glad that my son is coming back,” said his father, Thawatchai Onkaew, to BBC Thai. He also mentioned that his son had been calling home every day from the hospital after being released.
The family is making his favorite food – beef salad – to welcome him home, and they are also having a party for him.
Mr Thawatchai said that his son doesn’t want to go back to work in Israel because he is still very afraid.About 8,500 people from Thailand have been brought back to their country since the attack on 7 October. The BBC knows that some people have returned to Israel because they couldn’t find work and had too much debt.
Many people have told BBC Thai about their bad working conditions in Israel. They say they have to live in dirty places, work too much, and don’t get paid enough.
More than 14,500 people in Gaza have died from Israel’s bombing since October 7th, according to Gaza’s health ministry run by Hamas.
Hamas stopped fighting for six days and let go 102 hostages in exchange for 210 Palestinian prisoners, including many women and teenagers, held in Israeli jails.
The truce was supposed to end on Thursday, but it has been prolonged for at least one more day.
Narissara Chanthasang feels better because her husband, Nattapong Pinta, is still being held by Hamas.
“Heart hurt when I found out he wasn’t free,” she said. I will go to the airport when he comes back for sure. “Nothing can prevent me. “ -

Germany court found Gambian guilty of serving in a death squad
A man from Gambia who lives in Germany has been given a life sentence for being part of a group that killed people for the ex-president of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh.
The man’s name is Bai L. Drove for the group called the “Junglers”. He was proven to have done very bad things, like killing and trying to kill people, and he was found guilty.
In 2019, during a Gambia investigation, three people accused Mr Jammeh of ordering many murders, including the 2013 killings of two US-Gambian businessmen and journalist Deyda Hydara.
Bai L committed a few crimes. The news agency AFP says that someone is being accused of helping to stop Hydara’s car before he was killed and then driving one of the attackers away.
After being president for 22 years, Mr. Jammeh didn’t want to give up being president when he lost the election in 2016. After other regions sent armies to make him leave, he decided to live in a different place.
According to Human Rights Watch, the trial could happen in Germany because it has the power to prosecute serious crimes no matter where they happened. -

Charity swim planned by twin who shook off a crocodile
A lady rescued her twin sister from a crocodile and now she wants to swim to raise money for people with PTSD.
Georgia Laurie, who is 30 years old and from Sandhurst in Berkshire, hit the crocodile in the face when it attacked her twin sister Melissa in Mexico in June 2021.
Melissa is feeling better, but Georgia said they both still feel the mental effects of the attack.
She said they really wanted to do something good after what happened.
The twins were swimming in a lagoon near Puerto Escondido, when Melissa was pulled under the water.
Both of them were taken to the hospital. There, Melissa got very sick with sepsis and had to be put into a coma by the doctors.
Georgia said she is not having many lasting physical problems, but it is taking her longer to feel better mentally.
Both of them have had disconnection because of PTSD.
Georgia said you feel like you’re stuck and frozen.
She said they wanted to “help other people. ” But she wants to do something “more physically challenging” than a regular race.
“She said we want to swim for charity. ”
She said they wanted to collect money for a mental health organization in the UK to help people with PTSD, and also for a charity in Mexico.
“I have always had problem with my mental health for many years,” she said.
“I want to help others because the community helped us, and we want to give back. “ -

South Africa receives 450 generators from China over power disruptions
South Africa got 450 gasoline generators from China to help with their serious power cuts.
The generators have arrived in South Africa and will be officially received by Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa on Thursday.
The generators will be used as a backup to help reduce the problems caused by load shedding in providing services in clinics, schools and courts, the presidency said on Tuesday.
China and South Africa agreed to help each other during a meeting in Johannesburg. This donation is part of that agreement.
In the agreement, China promised to give emergency equipment worth 167 million rand, which is $8. 9 million or £7 million, and also a development grant of 500 million rand.
In the past few years, South Africa has had a lot of problems with power cuts, which have been really frustrating.
Every day, many people in cities and towns across South Africa don’t have electricity for up to 10 hours. -

Russia: LGBT organisations could be labelled ‘extremist’ in judicial decision
In Moscow, men are dancing on a stage while holding reindeer antlers. It is a type of wedding ceremony that comes from the northern part of Russia and has been done for a long time.
The bride and groom, Ilona and Alexander, are sitting by a pretend campfire and watching traditional ceremonies, like tearing fabric and dancing with animal furs.
This is one of many weddings from different places in Russia happening at a show that supports love for the country and old-fashioned beliefs.
The ceremony is finished. The person in charge says, “Based on the laws of Russia, I now declare you married. ”
Russia’s laws were changed three years ago to say that marriage can only be between a man and a woman. Every wedding shown at the exhibition has a bride and groom.
In Russia, couples that are not traditional, like same-sex couples, are not allowed to legally form a union.
In recent years, Russia’s LGBT community has been facing more pressure from the authorities. In 2013, a law was passed that says it’s not allowed to talk to kids about relationships that are not traditional.
Last year, all age groups in Russia had to follow those rules. Mentions of LGBT people have been taken out of books, movies, ads, and TV shows. Earlier this month, a Russian TV channel changed the colors of a rainbow in a South Korean pop video to follow a law against promoting being gay.
Russia’s justice department wants the supreme court to declare the “International LGBT public movement” as an extremist group and make it illegal. Even though there is no official organization by that name.
What will happen if the supreme court agrees with the request.
Sergei Troshin, a deputy in St. Petersburg who recently came out as gay, believes that the new law could result in long prison sentences for anyone the government sees as an LGBT activist for “participating in an extremist organization. ” The person who planned the group will have to stay in prison for an even longer time.
This is actual oppression. The LGBT community in Russia is very scared and worried. People are leaving quickly. The word we are using is “evacuation. ” We have to leave our own country. “It’s really bad. ”
In the Russian parliament’s lower house, called the Duma, they have a different opinion.
“This does not involve people’s private lives or sexual orientation. ” Vitaly Milonov, a politician from the ruling party, United Russia, says the LGBT international movement is focused on its political agenda. He is known for being against LGBT people.
“They have things they need to do and things they want to achieve. ” They work as a political group, a political system, and their goals go against the Russian Constitution.“I’ll talk about how the government is set up,” I replied. “There is no official international LGBT public movement. So, it doesn’t make sense to ban something that doesn’t even exist. ”
“Oh, it’s not hard,” Mr Milonov answers. “We can stop any activities from LGBT groups from other countries in Russia. ” That is good. We do not need them.
“I’m excited for the next step, which is to ban the six-color rainbow flag. ” We don’t want this flag. It represents the struggle against the traditional family. I don’t want anyone to display this flag in Russia.
Under Vladimir Putin, the government in Russia has adopted a belief system focused on traditional ideas and “family values”. The government shows LGBT activism as a Western idea that is unfriendly to Russia. Pressure is being put on the LGBT community in Russia to protect what is considered morally right.
And can it also help someone win votes.
Sergei Troshin thinks that the supreme court hearing is connected to the presidential election in March. “The government is making a fake enemy. ”
“They claim that we are fighting against the West. ” The fight against LGBT people is part of this anti-Western talk. Many conservatives who are against the West also oppose the LGBT community. This topic will be discussed before the election.
Maxim Goldman says that the Russian authorities are trying to make people focus on less important things so they don’t think about the real problems. He is employed by a Russian organization that helps transgender and non-binary people.
“When we found out about the supreme court hearing, the people in charge of our organization knew we had to leave the country right away. ” “It turned into a sudden urgent situation. ”
I am talking to Maxim, who says he is non-binary, on his last day in Russia. He put some clothes in a little suitcase and is going to the airport soon.
Maxim feels like his own country doesn’t want him. “We’re supposed to have a system where everyone can have a say in how our country is run. ” The leaders we choose to lead us are supposed to look after us.
The opposite is happening. They are trying to hurt us. They are treating us badly. “I have to leave against my will. ”
Right now, Sergei Troshin, who is a local government official, is staying. He doesn’t have any false beliefs.
“Sergei told me that he has talked a lot about LGBT rights in the past. ” “It’s possible that this could be enough evidence to start a criminal case against me. I don’t want it to happen, but it might. And this is scary.
Russian people are very afraid in their society. With each word you say, it’s like walking through a dangerous area with mines. If you say one thing, you could go to prison for five years. If you say something else, you could go to prison for ten or fifteen years. -

Bobi Wine in UK after purported nine-year visa suspension
Ugandan opposition politician and former musician Bobi Wine visited the UK for the first time in ten years. This happened more than three weeks after the UK government allowed him to enter the country again, following a reported nine-year ban.
“London, it’s been 10 years since I last visited. ” he wrote alongside a picture of himself in front of BBC’s London office on Wednesday.
Bobi Wine may have been stopped from going to the UK because of his song “Burn Dem” from 2014. Some people said the song had words that encouraged attacks on gay people.
Bobi Wine was not allowed to go to the UK after his song came out. He had to cancel two shows there.
The UK Home Office did not say if they banned Bobi Wine when The Guardian asked them.
On 5 November, Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, said that he could go back to the UK.
“I am happy to tell you that the UK ban on me has been lifted. I will be visiting the UK soon after 10 years,” Bobi Wine posted on X.
He said his lawyers worked really hard to lift the travel ban.
He said the lawyers argued that it wasn’t right for the UK government to let Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni visit, because he’s a well-known ruler who treats people badly, while stopping others who are working to make their country free and fair from visiting. -

Dr. Congo regrets EU’s decision to cancel its poll observation mission
The Congo government is sorry that the European Union is no longer going to watch the election there.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is going to have elections for president and parliament on 20 December. There are 23 people running for president. The political situation is very tense.
The observer mission was canceled while the EU mission’s deployment discussions were still going on, according to the state-run ACP news agency.
The government said it is dedicated to having fair, open, and free elections. It also said that it would be happy to have observer missions as long as they follow the laws of DR Congo.
The EU said it pulled out its team that was supposed to watch over the election. They couldn’t use the necessary communication equipment like satellite phones and internet kits.
80 to 100 observers from the EU were going to be sent to watch the general elections on December 20th. -

Elon Musk attacks X advertisers with explicit profanity
Elon Musk has used bad words and criticized the advertisers who have left X, saying they will make the social media platform fail.
At a meeting in New York, he said that the companies not advertising on the website, previously called Twitter, were trying to force him into doing something by withholding their ads.
The billionaire used a rude word to tell someone to go away in an interview.
Some companies have stopped advertising on X because they are worried about antisemitism. This includes a post from Mr.
The boss of Tesla and SpaceX said sorry on Wednesday for a post he made. He called it the “dumbest” thing he’s ever shared online.
However, his answer to a question about companies like Disney, Apple, and Comcast boycotting advertisements caused a lot of attention at the meeting of influential people from business, politics, and culture.
“Mr Musk said he doesn’t want them to advertise,” at the New York Times‘ DealBook Summit.
“If someone tries to make me do something I don’t want to do by threatening me with ads or money, they can go away. ”
Please Oh You Is it understandable. Hey Bob, if you’re listening, that’s how I feel.
He was talking about Disney’s boss, Bob Iger, who just spoke at the meeting.
Mrs Yaccarino, the CEO of X, was in the room with Mr. Musk, trying to get advertisers to come back to the platform.
Mr Musk also said that advertisers have the power to end X.
“This advertising boycott is going to destroy the company,” he said.
“He said everyone will know that the advertisers caused the company to fail, and we will write down all the details. ”
Ms Yaccarino reposted an interview she found very honest and also added her own thoughts about advertising. She believes that X is in a great position where freedom of speech and business come together, and that the community is strong and welcoming.
Mr Musk went to Israel after he seemed to support an antisemitic conspiracy theory last month.
I apologize for that tweet. “On Wednesday, he said it could be the worst and stupidest post I’ve ever made,”
The boycott is not only about that post.
Many advertisers chose to spend their money somewhere else.
In April, Mr. Musk told the media that almost all of the advertisers have either returned or will return.
Three months later, he said in a post on X that the money made from ads had gone down by half.
Before, a report by a liberal group called Media Matters claimed to have evidence that some ads were placed next to Nazi content.
X is saying that the group’s report did not accurately show how X’s users feel. They think the report is trying to stop people from speaking freely and to trick companies who advertise on X. X is taking Media Matters to court.
It’s not clear if Mr. Musk’s comments will convince advertisers to come back. The company depends a lot on their money.
We don’t know how much money X makes from ads right now because it’s a private company and doesn’t share its financial reports anymore.
However, before Mr. Musk became the leader of the company, most of Twitter’s money came from advertising. -

Musician Rema postpones performances in order to prioritise his health
Nigerian singer Rema won’t be doing any shows in December because he needs to take care of his health.
On Instagram, the Afrobeats star said he didn’t take care of his health because he was always on tour.
The famous person, who had upcoming performances in Nigeria and South Africa, said it’s time to rest and get better.
“It makes me sad to say that I won’t be doing any shows in December. ” I have been traveling for many years and I haven’t taken care of my health. Now, I need time to rest and get better. “We will go again in 2024, my love,” he said.
The singer has had many popular songs this year, especially “Calm Down” which he sings with Selena Gomez. It has broken many records for streaming and chart rankings.
The song was the most searched on Shazam in 2023 around the world and won the best Afrobeats song at the Billboard Music Awards last week.
Earlier this month, he impressed famous football players at the Ballon D’Or awards. Also, his song Calm Down made history by being the longest-charting and most successful African song ever on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
“Davido supports Rema’s decision to cancel his shows and thinks he has done a great job. ”
“The job is really hard, both physically and mentally. You have made Africa and the world very proud, more than anyone expected. ” “Take a break, recover, and return even stronger,” he said. -

Nepal records its first marriage between same sex couple
Nepal recently had its first same-sex marriage after a long legal fight by the couple and activists.
Officials in Lumjung district officially registered the marriage of Maya Gurung, 35, and Surendra Pandey, 27, on Wednesday.
It happened five months after the Supreme Court said that same-sex couples can get married.
Taiwan is the only country in Asia where people of the same sex can get married.
Ms Gurung said to the media that the couple’s registration was a very important day, not just for them, but for all people who are part of sexual minorities.
“Fighting for rights is hard. ” We did it. “And future generations will find it easier,” she said. “The registration has given us many opportunities to do new things. ”
The couple wanted to open a bank account together and share ownership of the land they bought. However, their main goal is to bring a child into their family once they have more money.
They have been together for nearly ten years. The couple got married in a temple in 2017. This year, they wanted their marriage to be officially recognized by the law.
Ms Gurung is a woman who was born a man, but she has not updated her official documents to show that she is now a woman. Pandey was born as a boy and says he is a boy.
On 13 July, a court in Nepal’s capital city Kathmandu, said they could not record their marriage even though the Supreme Court had told the government to do so until they changed the law.
The district court said that other courts didn’t have to do what the order said, because it only applied to the government.
On Wednesday, Hem Raj Kafle, who is in charge of the Dordi rural municipality, said to Reuters that they gave a marriage certificate to the couple because they had to follow the Supreme Court’s order and the government’s instructions.
Sunil Babu Pant, a leader for LGBT rights, thought the moment was a big win for sexual and gender minorities.
“We can now get married like other couples. ” “We need to do more to gain additional rights,” he said to the BBC. -

Famous Chinese chef vows never to prepare egg fried rice again
Egg fried rice is a popular and easy-to-make dish in China. It is light, delicious, and is known all over the world as a symbol of Chinese food.
In the past few years, the stir-fry dish has become a controversial topic for China’s online nationalists, especially in the months of October and November.
People are feeling very emotional this week. A famous chef had to say sorry for making a video on how to cook a dish.
Wang Gang, a famous chef with over 10 million online fans, said in a video that he will never make egg fried rice again.
Wang said sorry for the video, which was posted on Weibo on November 27, to calm down the angry comments.
Furious nationalists said Wang made fun of Mao Zedong’s son’s death in a video. Mao Anying died in a US air strike during the Korean War on November 25, 1950.
Wang made a video about cooking egg fried rice. But some Chinese people get upset when anyone talks about this dish around the time Mao Anying died or on his birthday, October 24th. They think it’s done on purpose to insult and make fun of Mao Anying.
However, when nationalist users criticize mentions of egg fried rice by famous chefs and online influencers, they end up spreading the rumor that their government is trying to stop.
Some stories say that Mao Anying, who was a soldier, did not follow orders to find a safe place during the bombing. Instead, the hungry man cooked egg fried rice on a stove. The smoke from the stove showed his location to enemy jets.
Yang Di, a military officer who worked with Mao when he was young, mentioned that version of events in his memoir. Yang Di worked at the commander’s headquarters. Chinese officials have said many times that the information is not true.
Under leader Xi Jinping, the Chinese government has stopped people from saying bad things about national heroes or questioning the official story about them. In 2018, the country made it illegal to say bad things about national heroes and martyrs. If you do this, you could go to jail for up to three years.
In May, a former journalist, Luo Changping, was sent to prison for seven months for disrespecting soldiers who died in the Korean War. He made a joke on social media about Chinese soldiers in a movie, suggesting they were not very smart.
In 2020, on the 70th anniversary of Mao Anying’s death, the Chinese Academy of History, which was started by Xi to correct untrue views of Communist Party history, said that the story about egg fried rice was a very bad rumor.
The academy said on Weibo that spreading rumors about Mao Anying’s sacrifice is making it seem less heroic. “In simple words, they are cruel and mean in their hearts. ”
Yang’s memoir was criticized for being full of mistakes and not able to be proven true. The post used accounts from other people who were there and secret messages to say that Mao Anying was killed because the enemy heard radio signals from the telegraphs at the headquarters before the air raid.
Even though officials said it wasn’t true, people keep talking about the argument over egg fried rice. Some people on the Chinese internet celebrate November 25 as the “Egg Fried Rice Festival” or “Chinese Thanksgiving” because they think that if Mao Zedong’s son had survived the war, he would have become the leader of China and created a family dynasty like in North Korea.
In 2021, a person on the social media site Weibo in Nanchang got in trouble with the police for saying that “the best thing to come out of the Korean War is egg fried rice. ”
2Thank you for the delicious egg fried rice. “We would be like North Korea without it,” the post said.
Wang posted a video of egg-fired rice, and people were upset because it was not the first time he did something that offended Chinese nationalists. The video was posted two days after the anniversary of Mao’s death.
In 2018, Wang shared a video on October 22 showing how he makes egg fried rice at home. Two days after, on Mao Anying’s birthday, the Communist Party’s People’s Daily newspaper shared Wang’s video. The action made people surprised and caused people to accuse the party’s main newspaper of being corrupted.
In 2020, Wang shared a video of himself cooking Yangzhou fried rice with extra ingredients like ham, shrimp, peas, and carrots. This made some people very upset. Wang said sorry very quickly.
“I didn’t know about this situation until I saw everyone’s comments on the video I posted today,” he wrote in the comments. “I’m just sharing the yummy food with no other intentions. ”
After many people got upset on Monday, Wang said sorry and explained that his team put out the video without him knowing.
This video has made a lot of people upset and had a really bad impact on everyone. “I’m sorry again,” he said after removing the cooking video. “I have been dealing with personal stuff lately and couldn’t take part in releasing the video. ” “This was the worst thing I ever did. ”
Wang, who is 34 years old and comes from a small village in Sichuan province, said his grandfather fought in the Korean War and stayed in North Korea for six years.
He said he admired his grandpa and always wanted to be a soldier since he was little. But when he tried to join the army at 17, he didn’t pass the physical exam. “I think soldiers are very special,” he said.
But Wang’s opponents are not giving up easily.“Maybe it was just by chance the first time. ” Someone commented that they don’t think it’s possible for Wang to make perfect egg fried rice every single time by chance.
Some people wanted Wang to be banned from Chinese social media. Others wanted the government to punish him for insulting national “heroes and martyrs,” citing a law from 2018.
However, some people have supported Wang, saying that he has shared egg fried rice on other occasions in the past.
“You don’t have to say sorry. ” “Someone on Weibo said that society owes you an apology,” in support of Wang.
“Let’s just say no more eating or cooking egg fried rice in November, or maybe we should just stop making it part of Chinese cuisine altogether,” said another person who agrees.
Hu Xijin, who used to be in charge of Global Times and is well known for promoting nationalist ideas, warned that a lot of people don’t know about the rumors concerning Mao Anying. He asked people to be more understanding when talking about certain things related to Younger Mao’s birthday and death anniversary.
“Being kind and understanding to each other and not making this a controversial issue is a way to honor and protect martyr Mao Anying’s brave spirit. ” “It will help the problem slowly become less of a problem and lessen the harm caused by the rumor,” Hu wrote.
If we don’t do something, the rumors could become stronger with each new controversy.
On Tuesday, Wang took down the video where he said sorry and stopped people from leaving comments on his Weibo page. -

Israel claims there are still 161 hostages in Gaza
Eylon Levy, a spokesperson for the Israeli government, said that there are about 161 people who are being held against their will in the Gaza Strip.
That number is made up of 146 Israelis and 15 people from other countries. There were 126 men and 35 women.
Levy said there are still four kids younger than 18 and 10 adults older than 75 being held. He doesn’t know how many of the hostages are soldiers.
“We promise to bring all the hostages home and we are determined to do so. We will not leave anyone behind,” Levy said at a press conference. He also said that if there is a good offer, they will think about extending the ceasefire to get more hostages released.
We are in the last day of the truce between Israel and Hamas, and people hope that the agreement will continue. -

Israel-Hamas ceasefire: How many people are still being held as hostages?
For those who are just starting to pay attention, we are now on the sixth and last day of the current peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.
We hope the agreement can continue, but we’re still waiting to find out if the discussions in Qatar were successful.
Twelve more people who were being held captive were set free last night. Ten of them were citizens of Israel and two were from Thailand. That means a total of 81 people who were taken hostage by Hamas on 7 October have been set free.
Right now, there are over 160 people who are still being held captive, including a 10-month-old baby.
Israel got a list of the people being held in Gaza and they will be released today. We don’t have the list right now, but we will give you more information when we can.
When the first agreement was made, Israel said that they would stop fighting for one more day for every 10 hostages that were released. It’s not clear if those terms will stay the same in any future deal.
In return, Israel has released 180 Palestinians from jail, and 30 of them were let go last night. According to the truce agreement, for each Israeli person set free, three Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons will also be released. -

Israel-Hamas ceasefire: ‘People sleepe on streets after sharing of bread’
In Deir al-Balah, a place in central Gaza, many people are waiting in line to buy cooking gas. A man there said to me, “You can’t even find a cup of tea or a pack of biscuits. ” Yesterday, homeless people slept on the street and shared bread.
“Yesterday, we saw rain and felt very cold. ” People stayed here overnight. May God assist us.
Another man named Mohammed al-Qidrah says he has been waiting in line for three days.
“We arrived here two nights ago and since 3:00 AM until now, we haven’t been able to get enough rest,” he explains.
We can’t find any gas, flour or anything else. You have to wait in line for everything and it’s hard to find what you need. -

Palestinians provided food and water during the ceasefire
Charities are using the current break from fighting to bring food and water to the Palestinian people.
The photos below are of the UN giving out bags of flour and fresh water in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the area.
As we have been telling you, around 1. 7 million people in Gaza have been forced to leave their homes and move to the southern part of Gaza to escape the worst fighting. -

Longer truce is what US and Israel desire – Blinken
Today, Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, is in Brussels. He is talking to a group of Nato foreign ministers.
He says the US wants the fighting to stop between Israel and Gaza to continue. They are trying to make that happen every day.
“Its continuation means more hostages will come home and more help will reach Gaza. ”
“Obviously, we want that. ” “I think Israel also wants it,” he said at the meeting. -

Politician from Palestine talks about ‘big Israeli operation’ in Jenin
In an interview with Mustafa Barghouti, a Palestinian politician and leader of the Palestinian National Initiative, about what’s happening in Jenin.
He says that Israeli soldiers are coming into Jenin City and the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.
Barghouti said that the Israeli forces already broke down two houses and are surrounding many areas.
He says soldiers went into the big hospitals in Jenin and then went into the camp. Barghouti says they are destroying important buildings and utilities.
“It’s very cruel. ” “They just said that the Jenin area is now off-limits because of the military,” he says.
He says that even though there is a short break in fighting in Gaza, Israel is still entering parts of the West Bank.
The Israeli army did a mission in Jenin refugee camp and killed two important people who were part of a terror group, according to Israeli newspapers. -

Released Palestinian prisoner accused of ‘attempting scissor attack’
30 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli jails yesterday as part of the new peace agreement, as we’ve been informing you.
Budour Hassan, from Amnesty International, talked to BBC Radio 4 about a woman named Nurhan who is a prisoner.
Nurhan, who was 15 years old, was accused of trying to attack someone with scissors, according to Hassan.
Israeli soldiers shot and hurt Nurhan, and they also killed her cousin.
Nurhan got 13 and a half years in prison, and Hassan thinks it’s too much.
She says Nurhan studied for her high school tests in jail, and was helped by other women prisoners, who were also political activists.
After she was set free, the first thing she did was go to her cousin’s grave, according to Hassan.
As we have been telling you, mostly women and teenage boys have been let go as part of the truce. -

Extended six-day truce about to expire – What comes next?
The ceasefire in Gaza has been going on for six days and will end soon. Israel and Hamas are talking about extending the ceasefire. Israel thinks there is a chance to make a deal, and Hamas has shown that they are willing to discuss it.
Top officials from Israel, the United States, and Egypt are talking in Qatar about making a new agreement. Qatar helped mediate the first peace deal. This could mean that the first men or soldiers who were taken by Hamas during the attack on 7 October might be set free.
Israeli leaders have said that they want to keep the current system, where three Palestinian women and teenagers are set free from Israeli prisons for every Israeli hostage that is returned.
I wonder if Hamas will ask for anything else to release Israeli officers.
Over 160 people are still being held captive, including a 10-month-old baby who is the youngest hostage. Hamas says it does not have all of them, and that some are with other groups. It’s not clear where the others are.
A longer period of peace will help the people in Gaza by bringing more supplies like food, water, and medicine that they really need.
However, some people in Israel might not agree with a longer ceasefire. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to start attacking Gaza again to “get rid of Hamas”. Some people are worried that if there is a long break, Hamas will have time to get stronger and plan how to defend themselves. -

Elderly Israeli captive freed from medical facility
Yafa Adar, an 85-year-old woman from Israel, who was one of the first hostages taken by Hamas, has left the hospital.
The place posted a picture on social media of Adar holding flowers and saying goodbye to the hospital staff. They clapped and waved Israeli flags as she left.
Adar was taken from kibbutz Nir Oz and there was a video of him being taken to Gaza in a golf cart by armed men, and a lot of people saw it.
Her granddaughter told the media yesterday that she thought many family members had been killed. It was emotional for her when she saw them and realized they were alive after being released.
