I’ll project achievements of NPP and NDC to assist voters decide – Prophet Kofi Oduro

Ghanaian preacher Prophet Kofi Oduro has announced plans to assess and present the accomplishments of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the past sixteen years.

His goal is to provide voters with a clearer picture of each party’s performance in preparation for the December 7 general elections.

Prophet Oduro’s announcement comes in response to comments by NPP running mate Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who claimed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration has outperformed every previous Ghanaian president, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Oduro criticized such comparisons, suggesting that they are inappropriate and urged both parties to measure their achievements against each other instead.

He plans to present his comparative analysis in November, outlining the achievements of the NDC and NPP administrations separately.

According to Oduro, this will help voters make well-informed decisions. He emphasized the importance of evaluating the parties’ records and making choices based on their contributions to Ghana’s progress.

In his video statement, Prophet Oduro also cautioned his congregation to vote with the nation’s best interests in mind, rather than being swayed by superficial comparisons.
“You compare yourself to Nkrumah? Comparison? Never do that comparison. Tell the people of Ghana what you have done, and if they want, they will vote for you.

“However, I will do this nation good. In November, I will do a series, and I am not talking about persons, 8 years of NDC, and 8 years of NPP. I will compare their works on this screen in this church, and when we finish, you will make the decision,” Prophet Oduro said in a viral video shared on TikTok.

KK Fosu might be suffering from PTSD – Blakk Rasta

Blakk Rasta has weighed in on the criticism surrounding KK Fosu’s absence from the funeral of the late blogger John Claude, who died in an accident involving KK Fosu and musician Bless.

KK Fosu’s comments about not knowing John Claude and dismissing the impact of his death have drawn significant backlash from the public.

He stated that the death of the publicist did not affect him and continued with his normal life.

Blakk Rasta, however, suggested that KK Fosu’s reaction might be indicative of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

He pointed out that PTSD is a serious condition that is often overlooked in Ghana.

Blakk Rasta commented on the situation, noting that while many have criticized KK Fosu for not attending the funeral, they might not be considering the possibility of him suffering from PTSD.

He recounted KK Fosu’s own statements about his distress during the accident and his struggle with the aftermath.

According to Blakk Rasta, KK Fosu’s decision to not attend the funeral might not just be a matter of disregard, but could be a sign of deeper psychological distress.

Blakk Rasta urged the public to consider the possibility that KK Fosu is dealing with PTSD, a condition that requires understanding and support, rather than further criticism.
“When things like this happen, you need to be careful, my brother. George Britton early today posted that he was so disappointed that KK Fosu did not attend the funeral. As to whether he spoke to KK Fosu before going to post such a thing on the World Wide Web, I will not be able to tell. My brother, my sister, I saw so many people talking about this thing and writing about it on social media. Then later, this morning, I started hearing interviews left, right, and centre that were granted by KK Fosu.

“… In fact, in one of the interviews, he said that ‘John Claude has died; should that end my life too? Nobody called me when we had the accident, no blogger called me to solidarize with me or empathize with me. Today there’s a funeral and everybody wants me to attend. Whether they know I am in good condition or not in terms of my health’, but there was a big question that came. You were ready to go to the Ghana Music Awards to perform an Amakye Dede song and get paid at the time you were even freshly injured. How couldn’t you make it to the funeral? Well, so many answers could be given to this. My sickness got worse. He could have answered, but no, he didn’t go that way.”

He continued by saying that, “What did KK Fosu say? He said, ‘Listen, I am a musician. That is how I feed my family. I am in the hospital when my family started coming in to greet me, my wife and children. I felt so down because I am the breadwinner of my family. They couldn’t eat anything while I was away on the bed sick. Some other people had to come in and support.’ That was what KK Fosu said. I mean, straight away it will hit so many people to say that this is quite disrespectful and unsympathetic. You still have your life, family members come to greet you, but one other person who was with you in the car and was a videographer of a good friend of yours who you invited on the trip lost his life. Do you care about his family?

“For all you know, KK Fosu is suffering from PTSD. So, to all the people out there pointing fingers at him, oh you wanted to go for the Ghana Music Awards at the time you were in the hospital yet you couldn’t make it to the funeral and you are there talking nonsense please start thinking that he might be suffering from PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s not a common sickness in Ghana,” Blakk Rasta stressed.

Prophet Adom Kyei Duah can’t be the Jesus Christians seek – Christian Council of Ghana

The Christian Council of Ghana has issued a press statement titled “Beware of false teachers and messiahs,” condemning Prophet Adom Kyei Duah, the leader of the Philadelphia Movement, for suggesting that his face should replace the traditional image of Jesus Christ.

The Council firmly stated that Prophet Adom Kyei Duah cannot be the Jesus that Christians seek, emphasizing that there is only one Jesus Christ, who was born to the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and resurrected on the third day.

This Jesus, they asserted, will return in glory to reward those who follow God’s will, not to establish a new church or movement.

“Therefore, as Christian leaders, we strongly condemn the anti-Christ statements made by the prophet and urge all Christians in Ghana to disregard them and save their souls from destruction.

“Additionally, we emphatically state that sensational and spectacular events or miracles do not necessarily authenticate a person as chosen by God, and therefore we must be careful (Matt. 7:21).

“The church is hereby cautioned against misleading doctrines that have the potential to destroy the faith of vulnerable and well-meaning Christians. We should be mindful of false prophets and false teachers who claim to be the Messiah: ‘And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’” the statement from the Christian Council of Ghana concluded.

The statement highlighted that Christians should not base their faith solely on miracles and spectacular events, as these do not necessarily indicate divine selection.

The Council condemned the statements made by Prophet Adom Kyei Duah as anti-Christ and urged Christians in Ghana to disregard them to protect their faith.

The Council also warned against misleading doctrines that could harm the faith of sincere Christians and cautioned against false prophets and teachers claiming to be the Messiah, quoting biblical references to support their warning.

Prophet Adom Kyei Duah recently claimed he had been instructed to replace all images of Jesus Christ with his own face for the next 500 years, a statement that sparked varied reactions on social media.

“Listen to me, for the next 500 years, the images of Jesus you see on calendars and in pictures around. I have been instructed to replace it with my face,” he said.

Speaking in Parliament following the mid-year budget review by Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam on July 23, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the government’s ability to restore economic stability.

“The economy is in the hands of those who have the power to bring back the economy,” he said on the floor of Parliament after the mid-year budget presentation by Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam on Tuesday, July 23.

During the budget review, Dr. Amin Adam disclosed that Ghana’s provisional total debt had reached GH¢742 billion, equivalent to US$50.9 billion as of June 2024.

This amount represents 70.6 percent of the country’s GDP.

The debt is divided into GH¢452 billion in external debt and GH¢290 billion in domestic debt, which accounts for 60.9 percent and 39.1 percent of the total debt stock, respectively.

The increase of 22 percent is attributed to the depreciation of the cedi and ongoing disbursements from creditors.

Dr. Amin Adam assured that the government is adhering to its budgetary constraints.

By the end of June 2024, revenue exceeded the mid-year target by 0.2 percent, and the government is on track to achieve a primary surplus of 0.5 percent of GDP by the year’s end.

The Finance Minister highlighted that the second review of Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility with the IMF had been completed, resulting in a third tranche disbursement of US$360 million, bringing the total to US$1.6 billion.

Additionally, Ghana has concluded a debt restructuring deal with the Official Creditor Committee, which will result in approximately US$2.8 billion of debt relief and a suspension of debt servicing to official creditors from 2023 to 2026.

Negotiations with Eurobond holders have led to a cancellation of US$4.7 billion of debt and a US$4.4 billion relief in debt service from 2023 to 2026.

Agreements with five of the seven Independent Power Producers are expected to save US$6.6 billion over the life of their Purchasing Power Agreements.

The government has also cleared all outstanding Bank Transfer Advice (BTAs) up to 2022 and is addressing BTAs from 2023.

Furthermore, reforms in State Owned Enterprises (SOEs), particularly in the Energy and Cocoa sectors, are underway to enhance fiscal prudence and minimize budgetary risks.

Ghana’s economy shows strong signs of recovery with 4.7% growth in Q1 2024 – Finance minister

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Ghana’s Minister of Finance, has announced a promising 4.7% growth in the country’s economy for the first quarter of 2024.

This performance, surpassing initial expectations, reflects the effectiveness of the government’s economic policies and the resilience of the Ghanaian people.

In his mid-year budget review presented to Parliament on July 23, 2024, Dr. Adam attributed this growth to robust policy measures, sound economic management, and the diligent efforts of Ghanaians.

He emphasized that the government’s strategic interventions have fostered a stable environment conducive to economic expansion.

The Finance Minister highlighted several key areas of focus: fiscal discipline, critical sector investments, and support for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

“Our economy grew by 4.7% in the first quarter of this year, surpassing our expectations. This growth demonstrates the resilience of our economic policies and the hard work of Ghanaians,” he stated during his mid-year budget review presentation to Parliament on July 23, 2024.

Maintaining fiscal discipline, according to Dr. Adam, is crucial for sustaining growth and ensuring a stable investment climate.

Infrastructure investments, such as those in roads and the Agenda 111 hospital project, have played a significant role in boosting economic activity and job creation. Additionally, the government’s mobilization of GH¢8.2 billion to support SMEs addresses critical challenges like finance access, capacity building, and market entry, reinforcing their pivotal role in driving economic growth and innovation.

Improvements in inflation rates and exchange rate stability have also contributed to a more favorable economic environment for businesses and households.

Despite ongoing global economic uncertainties, Dr. Adam expressed confidence that the government’s proactive strategies will continue to mitigate risks and support sustained growth.

“The government has been focusing on key areas to drive economic recovery, such as fiscal discipline, investment in critical sectors, and support for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).”

Beyond economic achievements, the mid-year review underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing social services and improving living standards.

Dr. Adam emphasized that these investments are integral to promoting inclusive growth and ensuring that all Ghanaians benefit from the country’s progress.

Gov’t to reintroduce road tolls in 2025 – Finance Minister

The government is set to reintroduce road tolls in 2025 following their suspension in 2021.

Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam announced this plan during the mid-year budget review in Parliament on July 23, revealing that Cabinet has approved a framework to facilitate the tolls’ return.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, had advocated for the return of road tolls earlier in June.

He argued that road tolls are essential for funding infrastructure development, given the government’s current financial constraints.

Bawumia criticized the reliance on the national budget for road projects and suggested that involving the private sector through road tolling could be a viable solution.

The government had previously abolished road tolls in 2021, aiming to replace them with the e-levy. However, the e-levy has not met expectations, prompting the decision to reinstate tolls in 2025.

“Let us go back to a system of broad-based road tolls. The tolling system has to come back, and I think it will come back.

“It is a fundamental mistake of the government to place all road projects on the budget. The government doesn’t have enough money and the private sector has to be brought in,” he noted.

“I mean who else should I emulate? I have learnt a lot of things from him, to be honest, before deciding to take up music, I had to understand him for a while,” Kwame Yogot told Fiifi Pratt.

One of the key lessons Yogot has adopted from Shatta Wale is developing a thick skin.

“I used to be offended and used to reply insults from fans and internet users, but I reckoned that even my role model, Shatta Wale occasionally comes under backlash, so why should I be offended.”

He shared that he used to be easily offended by negative comments and insults, but watching Shatta Wale handle criticism taught him to stay unaffected.

Yogot also urged his peers and aspiring artists to take cues from Shatta Wale if they aspire to be successful in the music industry.

K.K Fosu didn’t speak well, he isn’t a selfish person – Nana Poku Ashis

Popular music producer and industry commentator Nana Poku Ashis has addressed the controversy surrounding Highlife artist KK Fosu’s absence at the funeral of blogger John Claude, who died in a car accident in May 2024.

In a recent interview with Accra-based Hitz FM, Ashis offered an apology for Fosu’s outburst and shed light on the artiste’s frustration.

He revealed that Fosu’s comments stemmed from anger over the lack of legal action against the driver responsible for the accident, while Fosu himself faced public criticism.

Ashis acknowledged that Fosu’s remarks were inappropriate, but attributed them to his deep frustration with the situation.

He explained, “KK’s outburst was driven by his frustration over the fact that no progress had been made in addressing the driver’s responsibility for the accident.

He felt unfairly targeted by public backlash while the actual perpetrator seemed to be evading accountability.”

He defended Fosu’s character, describing him as a generous and kind-hearted individual who had always been supportive of others. “KK Fosu is not a selfish person. He is known for his selflessness and willingness to help others,” Ashis added.

Ashis also criticized the handling of the situation by Fosu’s team, suggesting that a better approach in managing public relations might have softened the backlash.

He urged for empathy and understanding, emphasizing that Fosu was deeply impacted by the incident and the subsequent criticism.

The controversy erupted after the tragic accident on May 25, 2024, which involved Fosu and fellow artist Bless.

The accident resulted in severe injuries for both musicians and the death of Bless’s videographer, John Claude. Following John Claude’s burial on July 19, 2024, Fosu and Bless were criticized on social media for their absence at the funeral and the subsequent one-week commemoration.

In response to the criticism, Fosu took to Facebook on July 22, 2024, expressing his frustration and calling for a focus on seeking justice for John Claude instead of attacking him and Bless.

  • We’re still relevant in the music industry thanks to Kaywa’s mentorship – Keche

We’re still relevant in the music industry thanks to Kaywa’s mentorship – Keche

Ghanaian music duo Keche recently shared their experiences under the mentorship of celebrated sound engineer Kaywa.

In an interview on Neat FM on July 22, 2024, they reflected on their initial perceptions of Kaywa’s tough approach, which they once mistook for mistreatment but now recognize as crucial training.

Keche revealed that their early years involved a demanding routine, including long walks from Community One to Community Eleven to reach Kaywa’s studio, where they spent entire days, often not returning home until the early hours of the morning.

Their six-year stint as “studio boys” was instrumental in developing their musical talents and has contributed to their ongoing success.

The duo expressed their appreciation for Kaywa’s discipline and rigorous work ethic, acknowledging that his strict methods were designed to strengthen their skills and dedication.

They noted that despite technological advancements making music production more accessible today, their experience under Kaywa’s guidance was invaluable.

Keche, made up of Joshua Kojo Ampah and Andrew Kofi Cudjoe, has remained a significant presence in the Ghanaian music industry, known for their dynamic performances and hit songs.

Kaywa, renowned for his role in shaping the careers of numerous Ghanaian artists, continues to be a pivotal figure in the industry.

“At that time, when we were under him, we used to think he was mistreating us, but now we’ve realized that he was actually grooming us. He was trying to instill the spirit of discipline in us.

“I can’t count the number of times we walked from Community One to Community Eleven to his studio. We would be there the whole day and sometimes not get home until 2 am.

“We were there as studio boys for six years. Nowadays, there’s no longer the concept of a studio boy, as people have access to the internet and laptops to create music, but we had to go through that process. If Keche is still here, it’s not just about talent, but also about hard work. We went through the process,” they said.

“He is strict, but it’s all for the best. That’s why we are still relevant today. We have been through it.

“We would go through that experience again because we can see the value in it,” they added.

Whether or not I visited Kuami Eugene after his accident isn’t anyone’s business – Kwame Yogot

Ghanaian rapper Kwame Yogot has addressed criticism about whether he visited fellow musician Kuami Eugene following Eugene’s recent accident.

Some Ghanaians had been curious about his visit, considering their close relationship.

In an interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, Kwame Yogot expressed bewilderment over the need for public disclosure about his visit.

He mentioned that his social media posts concerning Kuami Eugene should suffice for those interested in his support.

“Why should I have to publicly announce whether I visited him or not?” he said.

When pressed about the specifics of his visit, Kwame Yogot responded with sarcasm, denying any hospital visit.

“It’s not the public’s concern. Even if I did visit him, it wasn’t at the hospital. I ran into him at a waakye joint while I was grabbing some food. It’s surprising how much people care about this,” he said.

Kwame Yogot shared that he learned about the accident from a friend and later verified the information with Kuami Eugene’s management.

“A friend informed me about the accident early in the morning, and I confirmed it online. I reached out to the engineer we both work with, who confirmed the accident. They were preparing to leave the hospital at that time,” he explained.

On March 17, 2024, it was reported that Kuami Eugene was involved in a car crash near the Achimota Overhead in Accra, colliding with a tipper truck around 11:30 PM.

Legendary Ghanaian actor Agya Koo, known for his support of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), abruptly halted his performance at a funeral when an attendant voiced support for former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by EDHUB, Agya Koo, who was performing with a live band, paused to address the attendant.

He explained that some band members are affiliated with the opposition NDC but had come together to perform at the funeral of an NPP member, demonstrating unity and tolerance.

“To say K.K Fosu is an underground artist is an overstatement” – Dada Hafco to critics

Ghanaian Highlife musician K.K. Fosu has faced significant backlash for his comments about the late blogger John Claude Tamakloe.

Tamakloe, who died in a car accident involving Fosu and another musician, Bless, was buried last weekend.

Neither Fosu nor Bless attended the funeral, sparking considerable criticism.

In response, K.K. Fosu told Sister Sandy in an ADOM TV interview that he didn’t know Tamakloe personally, which explained his absence from the funeral.

The backlash has continued, but fellow musician Dada Hafco has defended Fosu.

In a Facebook post, Hafco acknowledged that Fosu’s handling of the situation was less than ideal but argued that the criticism has been excessive.

He suggested that instead of harsh judgments, people should support Fosu in making amends and improving his communication skills.

Hafco emphasized that while Fosu’s response could have been better, his contributions to music should not be disregarded.

“K.K. may not have spoken well, but to say he’s an underground artiste and doesn’t have a hit song bla bla is too far overstretched…I wish he had issued a statement instead of speaking because I know the struggles with K.K.’s communication….

“I believe we can all help him do the needful and do better, but don’t WIPE away what he’s done or achieved….Asɛm na aba ntia,” he wrote.

  • Ghanaian music can cross borders if artists are signed to record labels – George Britton

George Britton recently shared compelling insights on why Nigerian artists are more prominent in the global music scene compared to their West African peers.

Speaking on the Class Morning Show with Prince Benjamin, Britton pointed out that non-Ghanaians often support Ghanaian musicians more than Ghanaians themselves, which he believes undermines the success of local artists.

Britton highlighted that the reluctance of Ghanaian artists to work with record labels further hampers the international promotion of Ghanaian music, thereby missing out on potential music tourism revenue and global recognition.

He explained that Nigerians are heavily marketed abroad, creating a perception that they are the primary representatives of African music.

This has led to a situation where international audiences often mistakenly attribute songs by artists from other West African countries to Nigeria.

He gave examples, noting that artists like Camidoh and Olivetheboy are often misidentified as Nigerian due to the lack of strong promotional forces for Ghanaian music.

Britton emphasized that while Afrobeats is recognized as a West African genre, the dominance of Nigerian artists in the global market means that many people associate the genre solely with Nigeria.

To address this issue, Britton urged for greater involvement of record labels in promoting Ghanaian artists internationally. He stressed the importance of expanding Ghanaian music’s reach beyond local markets and into global spaces like America, Europe, and Asia.

He also criticized the current streaming habits in Ghana, noting that Ghanaians often do not engage with music streaming platforms as much as they should. This lack of streaming contributes to lower visibility for Ghanaian artists on global charts.

Britton called for a united effort to push Ghanaian music onto the world stage, advocating for increased streaming and support for local artists.

He believes that with a concerted effort and better representation from record labels, Ghanaian music could gain the recognition it deserves globally.

“People think Camidoh is Nigerian. When they hear the songs of Olivetheboy, they’ll definitely think it’s Nigerian. It’s because, you see, there isn’t a force from Ghana that makes people say, ‘Okay, this is Ghana.’

“It is assumed that Afrobeats comes from West Africa so it’s Nigeria or Ghana, but they know the Nigerian artistes [more] so every song they hear they say it’s a Nigerian song.

“My neighbour is a White guy, he’s always playing Afrobeats. He doesn’t even know [it intimately] but he’s playing Afrobeats. When you ask him for his favourite artistes he says, ‘Oh, Nigeria, Nigeria!’,” George Britton noted.

  • The streaming habits of Ghanaians are terrible – George Britton on why Nigerian artists dominate Afrobeats

The streaming habits of Ghanaians are terrible – George Britton on why Nigerian artists dominate Afrobeats

George Britton has offered insightful observations on why Nigerian musicians dominate the international music scene compared to their West African counterparts.

Speaking on the Class Morning Show (CMS) with Prince Benjamin (PB), Britton lamented that Ghanaian artists often receive more support from non-Ghanaians abroad than from their fellow countrymen.

This lack of domestic support, he argued, negatively impacts their careers.

Britton also pointed out that many Ghanaian artists avoid signing with record labels, which hampers the global promotion of Ghanaian music.

This reluctance deprives Ghana of its deserved share of music tourism and revenue.

He highlighted that Nigerians are heavily marketed abroad, creating a perception that they are the primary African contributors to the music industry.

As a result, even non-Nigerian artists are often assumed to be Nigerian.

He gave examples of artists like Camidoh and Olivetheboy, whose songs are frequently mistaken for Nigerian music.

Britton emphasized that the global community tends to associate Afrobeats with Nigeria due to the strong presence of Nigerian artists, overshadowing Ghanaian contributions.

To address this, Britton called for the integration of record labels into the Ghanaian music scene to promote artists beyond their local market.

He stressed the importance of reaching audiences in America, Europe, Asia, and South America.

He also countered the argument that these markets are unnecessary for the success of Ghanaian music.

Britton identified several key issues hindering the global recognition of Ghanaian music, including a lack of patriotism, widespread plagiarism, and poor streaming habits.

He noted that successful Ghanaian artists often have low streaming numbers from their home country.

To improve this, he urged Ghanaians to adopt better streaming habits and support local artists.

In conclusion, Britton called for a united effort to promote Ghanaian artists internationally. By involving record labels and cultivating a supportive streaming culture, he believes that Ghanaian music can achieve greater global recognition.

For a solution, he urged: “We need to get the record labels into our space. Let the labels market us outside our comfort zone. Then our music can be heard in America, Europe, Asia, South America and all that.”

Why attack King Paluta? – Vim Lady reacts to viral video of celebrities at Mahama walk

Media personality Afia Pokua, known as Vim Lady, has questioned the criticism faced by singer King Paluta following his interaction with Vice President and NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Vim Lady posted a video featuring celebrities at the recent Mahama walk, discussing its purpose and significance for Ghana’s democracy.

The video included appearances from KKD, actor and former NDC parliamentary candidate aspirant Fred Nuamah, among others.

Vim Lady praised the celebrities for participating in the event, emphasizing its positive impact on the country’s democracy.

However, she expressed disappointment over the harsh backlash King Paluta received for merely greeting Dr. Bawumia, pointing out that he did not endorse or support the candidate.

In her caption, Vim Lady highlighted the importance of respecting individual choices, noting that the attacks on King Paluta demonstrate a lack of tolerance for differing opinions among Ghanaians.

“I like how celebrities participated in the Mahama Walk. It’s good for our democracy, so why were some people attacking King Paluta for greeting Bawumia? The guy didn’t even endorse or support Bawumia,” Vim Lady wrote as a caption to the video.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie and I can’t be friends even if God intervenes – Nana Romeo

Media personality Nana Romeo has declared that he can no longer maintain a friendship with Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel.

According to Nana Romeo, their relationship has deteriorated beyond repair, even to the point where divine intervention couldn’t mend the rift.

Nana Romeo explained that the conflict, which has escalated to the courts, stems from a betrayal by Prophet Gaisie.

In a recent interview with Zionfelix, he stated, “Nigel can’t be my friend anymore. No, we can’t be friends anymore, even if God comes and tells me to be friends with him, I would plead to Him to let that pass over me like what Jesus said.”

The media personality accused Prophet Gaisie of destroying his relationship by pursuing his girlfriend.

He recounted the sequence of events leading to their fallout during an interview with Stacy Amoateng.

Their friendship began after an interview about the demise of musician Ebony Reigns, which brought significant attention to the preacher. “When Ebony died, I called Nigel because I had seen a video of his prophecy about the incident.

He wasn’t popular, but the interview shot him to fame, so we became friends. I booked musicians to perform at his church,” Nana Romeo said.

However, their relationship soured when Prophet Gaisie allegedly began pursuing Nana Romeo’s girlfriend.

“One holiday, I decided to go out with my girlfriend. She had been very good to me, she bought a car for me, rented an apartment for me and I told him all the good things the lady had done for me. I don’t know if that was what enticed him,” he explained.

He continued, “The lady and I were about to go to the beach to enjoy the holiday when Nigel called me and asked me to check something for him. That was when I introduced the lady to him. Later, he started texting her and going out on lunch dates. His junior pastors were shocked and surprised at his actions, and they called me to inform me about it.”

Nana Romeo concluded, “One day, I went to his house, but I was denied access; he told the security personnel to say he was not around. Later, he called to apologize, claiming he didn’t know what came over him. The thought of this hurts me so much,” he shared.

  • Group petitions Akufo-Addo, NPP HQ to settle land dispute between Abu Ramadan and a party financier

Group petitions Akufo-Addo, NPP HQ to settle land dispute between Abu Ramadan and a party financier

A faction within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Members, has formally petitioned the party’s national headquarters and the presidency regarding a land dispute involving Mr. George Oti Bonsu and Abu Ramadan, a relative of Second Lady Samira Bawumia.

This petition, dated July 10, 2024, underscored the urgency of resolving the issue given the upcoming December elections.

The group highlights Mr. Oti Bonsu’s role as a key party financier and expresses concern that his recent loss through the alleged demolition of ten of his properties in Adjiringanor, Accra could impact party support.

The demolition, which occurred on April 7, 2024, was reportedly linked to Abu Ramadan, though the Second Lady’s office has denied any involvement.

The petition emphasizes the significant financial loss Mr. Oti Bonsu suffered, estimated at $3.5 million, and calls for prompt action to address the dispute.

The coalition warns that failing to resolve the matter could alienate key supporters and undermine the party’s efforts to retain power in the upcoming elections.

The letter is addressed to President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, NPP National Chairman Stephen Ntim, and the involved parties.

It is signed by Rev. (Rtd) Dickson Kankam Boadu, Nana Ekow Annan Nyarko, Francis Tosu, Zakaria Sulemana, and Madam Cynthia Akumoa Boateng.

“Indeed, the ordinary party member is alarmed that if the above-mentioned excruciating pain was unleashed on a distinguished financier of our great party without any action taken by the party leadership, then what would be the portion of the foot soldiers and ordinary card-bearing members like us?” the group queried in their letter.

It is against this backdrop that we, the Coalition of Concerned Members of the New Patriotic Party hereby make a passionate appeal to your highly respected office to take conscious and concerted steps to resolve this ravaging impasse between Mr George Oti Bonsu and Mr Abu Ramadan as early as practicable.

We are critically worried because our great party is preparing zealously for re-election in less than six months, and we need every party member’s intellectual, financial, physical, and logistical support to retain power” the group noted.

“This petition is duly signed by the leaders of the coalition who are loyal card-bearing members of the NPP and are in good standing, registered voters, and others working diligently behind closed doors to address this disturbing issue, hereby petition you accordingly for redress” the letter concluded.

About 5,685 people, 1135 households affected by Akosombo Dam spillage in Ada- NADMO

Ebenezer Teye Nartey, the Ada-East Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), reported that last year’s Akosombo Dam spillage impacted 5,685 individuals and 1,135 households across 28 communities in the district.

During a recent Volta River Authority (VRA) meeting at the Ada East District Assembly, Nartey detailed that 776 affected individuals took refuge in designated safe havens, while 4,909 chose to stay in their flooded communities.

The disaster affected 283 farms, seven fishermen, livestock farmers, and oyster miners.

Additionally, eight schools, including five on an island and three on the mainland, as well as a Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and a clinic, were damaged.

The spillage also disrupted local businesses, particularly those reliant on fishing and agricultural products, forcing many to halt their operations.

Initial evacuations included over 120 people from communities such as Alorwusedekope, Aflive, Kewuse, Kweunor, and Azizakpe, who were relocated to safe havens.

New shelters were later established at Azizanya and Methodist Basic School, with assistance from the Volta River Foundation and various NGOs.

During their nine-week stay from October 15 to December 19, 2023, the displaced individuals received guidance, counseling, medical supplies, and prayers, along with security and administrative support.

Cash donations from the Anglican Church in Tema and the World Food Programme, among others, were distributed to victims, ranging from GHS 700 to GHS 1,800 based on their needs.

Nartey noted that out of the GHC 95,000 spent on relief efforts, only GHC 15,000 had been paid, leaving an outstanding balance of GHC 80,000.

He recommended that support be provided in the form of start-up capital, settlement centers for the vulnerable, and access to potable water for the affected areas.

He also emphasized the need for enhanced community and media engagement to better prepare residents for future spillages.

  • “Away! Away! No laptop no council meeting!,” – GNAT stages walkout on Deputy Education Minister over failed promise

“Away! Away! No laptop no council meeting!,” – GNAT stages walkout on Deputy Education Minister over failed promise

The National Council of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) recently staged a dramatic walkout during a meeting with Deputy Education Minister, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko.

The protest stems from the government’s failure to deliver on its 2021 promise of providing each teacher with a laptop, despite having deducted 30% from teachers’ salaries for the “One Teacher One Laptop” initiative.

Teachers across Ghana are frustrated as over 50,000 colleagues still haven’t received their laptops.

This led to a disruptive scene at the annual GNAT national council meeting in Kumasi, where members booed the Deputy Minister and chanted, “Away! Away! No laptop no council meeting!” Consequently, the meeting’s opening ceremony was interrupted.

The GNAT, along with two other teacher unions, had previously gone on strike in May demanding improved conditions.

The National Labour Commission had given the government until the end of June to fulfill its promise.

However, as of July 22, the laptops are still not distributed.

“National Labour Commission serving as a mediator gave government June ending to honour its part of the contract by supplying the outstanding.

Today, July 22, there are still over 50,000 laptops left to be supplied,” Sarfo Sarpong added.

The delay is affecting teaching and learning, especially in remote areas where teachers are struggling without the necessary technology.

Teachers argue that the national curriculum is designed for digital use, making the absence of laptops a significant hindrance.

They also point out the irony of students receiving tablets while teachers, who need them more, are left without.
“One Teacher One Laptop” initiative after making the teachers pay up for them.

“Over two and half years now, some of our members haven’t received their laptops. Mainly some teachers at the kindergarten, education officers, and the Arabic teachers and some primary school teachers,” District Chairman of GNAT-Afigya Kwabre, Sarfo Sarpong, spoke on behalf of the group.

Some local leaders have faced hostility from frustrated teachers.

“Some teachers have to do this manually. We claim to be digitalizing, what’s about the teaching space?. They’ve decided to give tablets to the students when we, teachers, need them for teaching,” Evans Temetey, District chairperson for Manya Krobo, said.

Some of the local leaders have suffered near attacks from their members.

“I went for BECE monitoring and the teachers attacked me, demanding where their laptops were. It is really embarrassing to have someone who has only spent 4-years in the teaching profession insult me who has been in this for close to two decades,” another district chairperson lamented.

The GNAT has issued a one-week ultimatum for the government to start distributing the remaining laptops.

  • Cabinet to make public COCOBOD’s turnaround strategy by the end of July 2024

Cabinet to make public COCOBOD’s turnaround strategy by the end of July 2024

The Ghanaian government is set to release a turnaround strategy for the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) by the end of July 2024, according to a recent IMF report.

This strategy aims to enhance COCOBOD’s financial stability through improved financial oversight and adjustments in the producer pricing mechanism to ensure fair revenue distribution and cover operational costs.

It will also involve reducing costs by streamlining COCOBOD’s departments and subsidiaries, and phasing out quasi-fiscal activities such as funding for cocoa roads and fertilizer programs.

Despite improvements in COCOBOD’s financial health in 2023, 2024 has been challenging.

A notable decline in cocoa production and a significant rise in spot market prices led to a 58% increase in the farmgate price of cocoa in April 2024 to curb smuggling and support the local market.

To manage cash flow, COCOBOD plans to increase sales at higher spot prices and implement further cost-saving measures.

The IMF praised the Ministry of Finance for its improved oversight through the establishment of a cocoa desk to monitor COCOBOD’s finances.

The government has also sought IMF technical assistance to develop a robust oversight strategy for state-owned enterprises.

In February 2024, COCOBOD secured a $200 million loan from the World Bank to restore cocoa farms affected by disease.

The cocoa swollen shoot virus, aging plantations, illegal mining, and smuggling have drastically reduced Ghana’s cocoa production, which fell to 600,000 metric tons last year from a peak of 1.048 million tons in the 2020/21 season.

“Faced with a significant shortfall in production and a large increase in spot market prices, and following a similar decision in Ivory Coast, the authorities increased the farmgate price of cocoa by 58.0% in April 2024 to prevent smuggling and support Ghana’s cocoa market.

To avoid this decision leading to a cashflow deficit, COCOBOD intends to increase the proportion of sales at the current high spot prices, while seeking additional spending rationalization”, the Fund said in its Ghana Second Review under the Extended Credit Facility.

I pray for unity in the Gospel music industry – Abena Serwaa Ophelia

Ghanaian Gospel artist Abena Serwaa Ophelia has emphasized the importance of unity and mutual support within the gospel music community.

Speaking with Accra-based Adom FM, she advocated for gospel musicians to stand together, pray for one another, and celebrate each other’s achievements.

Ophelia expressed that while some support exists within the industry, it’s often limited.

She believes that fostering genuine support and rejoicing in each other’s successes can create a positive environment that reflects God’s love.

By encouraging prayer and mutual encouragement, Ophelia hopes to build a stronger, more united community in gospel music.

“I would promote togetherness in the industry and mutual support. In life, we should pray for everything to be positive. I would also encourage us to rejoice in each other’s success, as it will bring us happiness. By praying for our friends and supporting them, we can foster a sense of unity, which pleases God. Love is necessary in the industry as it enables us to help one another, and not just some of us,” she stated.

“From our very first laugh to the love that has grown between us, every step of our journey has been truly magical. Now, as we prepare to welcome our little one, it feels like a beautiful dream. Here’s to the new adventures and the joy that lies ahead!”

“When she did that, I felt like I had to defend myself because this girl keeps doing that. I know bullies, and one thing I know for sure is that Efia Odo can never bully me. I am the last person she can ever think of doing that to. If we are all going to be honest, this person has come at a lot of people. You can tell naturally that the person is disrespectful,” she told the host, MzGee.

“Many times, this person has bullied me, but most people do not understand what I’m talking about. All my life, I have been bullied because I was the darkest person in my class, so I used to get bullied a lot. So I know bullies and I know how they start their stuff,” Sister Afia said.

  • We’ve never received even up to GHC500 as royalties from GHAMRO – Keche

We’ve never received even up to GHC500 as royalties from GHAMRO – Keche

Ghanaian music duo Keche has expressed frustration over the lack of substantial royalties from the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).

Despite having numerous hit songs, Keche revealed in an interview with Accra-based Showbiz TV that they have never received even GHC500 in royalties.

Keche pointed out that not even top artists like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy can claim to have received royalties amounting to GHC10,000 or GHC20,000.

They highlighted the persistent issue, stating that no musician can boast of receiving such amounts in royalties.
“No musician can boast of royalties like GHC20,000. So we don’t know what is happening. People show up, our managers are always there if we have to go somewhere. We’ve been there several times but nothing changes after the discussions. Why should we leave our jobs, which provide for us, to attend a meeting that leads nowhere?

“Up till now, tell me have you met any artiste who can say he’s received royalties like GHC10,000? No. A whole artiste like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, nobody has taken GHC10,000 before and its very bad. I become emotional when it comes to these things.

“For so many years with many hits, Keche name them, GHAMRO has not even given us even GHC500, not even 200 or 100 so somebody like me why do I go for a meeting,” Keche noted.

They shared their dismay, noting that despite attending numerous meetings with GHAMRO, no meaningful changes have occurred.

“Why should we leave our jobs, which provide for us, to attend a meeting that leads nowhere?” they questioned.

Keche also criticized the operations of both GHAMRO and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), questioning their effectiveness and the government’s lack of support for the music industry.
“I don’t understand what GHAMRO and MUSIGA are doing. I don’t know what happens there that up till now, the government does not support this thing too much,” Keche added.

I can’t allow Efia Odo to bully me – Sista Afia

Ghanaian singer Sister Afia recently asserted that socialite Efia Odo could never bully her.

This declaration followed a Twitter argument sparked by a netizen’s mistaken identification of Sister Afia as Efia Odo.

Efia Odo’s response to the mix-up upset Sister Afia, leading to a heated exchange.

During an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, Sister Afia explained that the netizen’s comment was harmless and that she expected Efia Odo to ignore it.

Instead, Efia Odo’s reaction prompted Sister Afia to defend herself.

She labeled Efia Odo as a bully, emphasizing that she would not tolerate such behavior.

Sister Afia also addressed Efia Odo’s reputation for attacking others in the industry, describing her actions as disrespectful.

She reflected on her own experiences with bullying, noting that she has faced it since childhood.

This background, she said, makes her well-versed in recognizing and standing up to bullies.

Visa shouldn’t be a requirement to enter a foreign land – A Plus

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, an aspiring parliamentary candidate and entertainment pundit, has questioned the necessity of obtaining a visa to travel to another country.

During a discussion on United Showbiz aired on UTV, the Gomoa Central parliamentary candidate expressed his belief that visas should not be a requirement for international travel.

A Plus argued that people should have the freedom to travel wherever they desire, drawing a parallel to the colonial era when colonial powers entered Ghana without visas and took its resources.

“I’m one person who believes that human beings must be able to go wherever they want to go. People must have the freedom to travel wherever they want to go. I don’t understand why we have to go for visas before we can travel. I personally believe that people should have the freedom to travel. When the white man came to Ghana to collect our gold, did he enter the country with a visa?” he said.

He also highlighted how countries benefit from each other, using the example of Nico Williams, a Spanish footballer of Ghanaian descent, who performed well in the recently concluded Euros 2024.
“Look at Iñaki Williams’ brother, Nico Williams. Didn’t he score goals during the Euro tournament? These foreigners should open their gates to people because they are also benefiting,” he added.

A Plus urged countries to open their borders more freely, noting the mutual benefits of such openness.

Everything is hard, Ghanaians are suffering – Ayisoba tells Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian musician King Ayisoba has voiced his frustration over the current economic struggles in Ghana.

During a recent event in Accra, where he joined thousands of Ghanaians for the Get Fit and Ready walk with John Dramani Mahama, Ayisoba performed his hit song “I Want to See You, My Father” and expressed his discontent with the state of the nation’s economy.

He criticized the President saying “Akufo-Addo, everything is hard, and Ghanaians are suffering.”

Ayisoba urged Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, to work diligently to secure victory and improve the lives of Ghanaians.

In response, Mahama has asserted that the only way for Ghanaians to be taken seriously is to vote the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of power.

He claimed that voting for the NPP’s candidate would essentially mean a third term for President Akufo-Addo, and accused the ruling party of fighting to stay in power to hide their shortcomings.

  • Ghanaians have failed to promote highlife – Amandzeba

Ghanaians have failed to promote highlife – Amandzeba

Legendary Ghanaian highlife artist Amandzeba has raised concerns about the insufficient promotion and preservation of Ghana’s highlife music.

He believes that despite highlife being a significant part of Ghanaian culture with the potential to enhance the country’s global music profile, it has not received the necessary attention and support.

Amandzeba pointed out a broader issue with valuing Ghana’s heritage, noting that while other nations can replicate Ghanaian cultural symbols like kente, Ghana itself does not always fully embrace and develop its own cultural assets.

He highlighted that highlife, which once had a profound impact on music across Africa from the coastal regions to places like Zaire and Congo has been somewhat overlooked.

He acknowledged the efforts of UNESCO and the National Folklore Board in recognizing highlife as an intangible cultural heritage but urged the media to play a more active role in ensuring the genre’s continued prominence.
“Collectively, we seem to have failed. We often overlook our heritage, everything. The Chinese can replicate our kente, they can adopt any aspect of our heritage, and we remain silent, admiring them, even though we possess the original, which should be developed here.

“It’s similar to music. When we had highlife, from the beginning, it influenced people along the coast and even as far as Zaire, Congo, and other places. Look at artists like Fela Kuti, Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela. They were here [because of highlife],” he said while discussing UNESCO’s move to list highlife as intangible cultural heritage.

In recent developments, Ama Serwah Nerquaye-Tetteh, Secretary-General of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, announced that highlife is set to be officially listed as Ghana’s intangible cultural heritage.

This follows a series of discussions and engagements organized by the Ghana Folklore Board and the Ghana Cultural Forum to support this recognition.

I still owe from Kaakie’s music projects – JMJ

Popular Ghanaian music producer JMJ, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Xtra Large Music, has disclosed that he is still repaying debts incurred from his work with former artist Kaakie.

Despite investing significantly in her career, JMJ revealed that he did not see substantial financial returns.

The primary source of revenue from Kaakie’s career came from live performances, as he struggled to capitalize on digital music marketing at the time.

“As we speak, I am still servicing debts,” JMJ told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z.

In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, JMJ explained that many of the songs produced during that period were not monetized effectively, with some revenues being captured by others.

“Half of our songs are being monetized by other people,” he indicated.

The focus on live shows was a direct result of this issue.

“Where we were seeing inflows were direct shows. That is why back then we paid attention to shows more than all of these things,” he said.

Additionally, JMJ shared that his early days in music production were financially challenging.

He recounted times when he even had to cover transportation costs for artists to record in the studio, reflecting on the lack of immediate financial gain from his early productions.

“Some of the things we were doing, we didn’t even think we were going to make money from them. Let me put it this way, I didn’t make money from my music productions.

“There were days and times that I had to pay for the transportation of these artistes so that they could come to the studio to record music,” he said.

No one checked up on me after my accident – KK Fosu laments

Ghanaian Highlife artist KK Fosu has addressed the criticism he faced for missing the funeral of blogger John Claude, who died in a car accident in May 2024.

Speaking on Hitz FM on July 22, 2024, KK Fosu expressed his frustration with bloggers who, he claims, failed to check on his well-being while he was recovering from the accident but criticized him for not attending the funeral.

“None of the bloggers called me to check on me, yet they bashed me for not attending John Claude’s funeral. They do not care about the living; they only care about the dead,” KK Fosu stated.

KK Fosu, who is still receiving treatment for his injuries, asserted that it wasn’t necessary for him to attend the funeral given his condition.

He noted that despite his struggles, he and his colleague Bless managed to compose a tribute song for John Claude shortly after being hospitalized.

“And then for me to wake up, still on the sickbed and see all these write-ups trying to tarnish my image, do you think I will forgive them?” he said amidst tears.

He criticized bloggers for not showing support during his recovery and instead focusing on his absence from the funeral.

He questioned the level of public awareness about John Claude before his death and suggested that the bloggers who criticized him should have attended the funeral themselves.

“Even on our 3rd day after I was hospitalized, we composed a song for the boy. Because nobody knows about John Claude.

“All those trying to rope me into this situation. How many of you people know about John Claude?

“No one knew about John Claude before his death. If for anything at all, it was the bloggers who were supposed to show their love at his funeral,” he said.

In a direct message to critic George Britton, KK Fosu expressed his discontent, implying that such criticism was unwarranted.

The car crash on May 25, 2024, involved KK Fosu, Bless, and John Claude, who tragically lost his life.

Following John Claude’s burial on July 19, 2024, KK Fosu and Bless were reproached for their absence from the final rites and the subsequent one-week commemoration.

In response, KK Fosu also challenged Elorm Beenie and others to focus on seeking justice for John Claude, accusing them of using his name for criticism while neglecting to address the issue of the driver responsible for the accident.

Play and fire will burn you – KK Fosu to critics over ‘no-show’ at John Claude’s funeral

Ghanaian Highlife musician KK Fosu has addressed bloggers and critics regarding his absence at the funeral of blogger John Claude, who tragically passed away in a car accident in May 2024.

KK Fosu and his fellow artist Bless were injured in the same accident that took John Claude’s life.

Despite their own serious injuries, including broken legs, they were criticized for not attending John Claude’s burial on July 19, 2024, or the subsequent one-week memorial.

Social media and industry figures such as Elorm Beenie and Eric Toscar took to condemning KK Fosu and Bless for their absence and lack of communication with the family.

In response, KK Fosu took to Facebook on July 22, 2024, to express his displeasure with the criticisms.

He challenged Elorm Beenie and others to focus on seeking justice for John Claude, pointing out that the driver responsible for the accident remains at large.

“Elorm Beenie, you and your guys are very funny to play with my name. Go to Apam police station and fight for justice for our brother Claude. The one who hit us with his car is walking freely, my boy. Don’t play with fire; it will burn you,” he said.

He expressed his frustration at being judged and isolated for his personal choices, emphasizing his right to hold and express his own political views.

“Like a witch surrounded by Holy Ghost fire” – Basintale jabs Titus Glover for Mahama-Akufo Addo comparison

A video circulating on social media shows a heated confrontation between Malik Basintale, Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, and Titus Glover, Greater Accra Regional Minister.

Basintale was notably upset about a comparison made between President Akufo-Addo and former President John Mahama.

He passionately argued that the achievements of Mahama’s administration, such as improvements in infrastructure and education, far exceed those of Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

Basintale criticized Akufo-Addo’s presidency as being synonymous with corruption and illegal mining activities, contrasting it sharply with Mahama’s record.

In his remarks, Basintale also took a jab at Titus Glover, saying, “Mr. Glover, your comparison is as absurd as a witch surrounded by the Holy Spirit. Mahama’s accomplishments far surpass those of Akufo-Addo. We need to be realistic.”

I’m against divorce; I never thought it would happen to me – Maame Yeboah Asiedu

Media personality and marriage counselor Maame Yeboah Asiedu has revisited her experience with divorce, an issue she never anticipated facing.

Known for her strong stance against divorce, Yeboah admitted in a recent interview that she would never have expected to find herself in that situation.

In a candid conversation shared on Marigyata’s Instagram page, Yeboah reflected on her divorce, emphasizing that it was never part of her plans.

She attributed the unexpected turn of events to the will of God, stating, “We can plan and plot, but ultimately, it’s the will of God that prevails.”

Previously, Yeboah disclosed that her decision to divorce came after nearly 20 years of marriage, triggered by her former husband’s decision to annul their union in court, which she disagreed with.

Despite her efforts, she was unable to prevent the separation.

“If I thought that I would ever be divorced, then I would be lying to you because anyone who knows me is aware that I am very much against divorce, and it is not in my plans.

“But, as the saying goes, the thoughts of man are many, but the will of God is what will be established. We can always plan and plot, but the word and will of God are what will be established.

“I never thought I would be divorced, but I was divorced,” Maame Yeboah explained.

Addressing public criticism regarding her adherence to her own anti-divorce principles, Yeboah clarified that her divorce was not a result of her choosing to end the marriage, but rather an outcome beyond her control.
