Court denies bail for two suspects in $50k, GHC50k, iPhone 15 theft from John Kumah’s Wife

On Friday, the Accra Circuit Court Two denied bail to Adams Sanogo and Kwame Dunga, who allegedly stole money and various electronics from Reverend Lillian Kumah, widow of the late John Kumah, former Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu.

Sanogo, a trader, and Dunga, who is still at large, are accused of stealing $50,000, GH¢50,000, an iPhone 15 Pro Max valued at GH¢15,000, an Apple iPad valued at GH¢15,000, a Samsung Z Fold phone valued at GH¢12,000, a Microsoft laptop worth GH¢7,000, a school bag valued at GH¢400, and an Apple watch of unknown value.

Rabiu Falilu, a recent Senior High School (SHS) graduate, is also charged with receiving stolen goods.

The suspects, apprehended in the Ashanti Region, have denied the charges and are in police custody to aid in the ongoing investigation and the pursuit of Dunga. Presiding judge Mr. Isaac Addo rejected the bail request from the defense counsel Mr. Benjamin Ofori, citing the case’s sensitivity and the public interest.

The suspects are due back in court on August 7, 2024.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Raymond Ackom, the theft occurred on December 29, 2023, at Reverend Kumah’s residence in Achimota-Mile 7, Accra. The stolen items were reported to the police along with CCTV footage.

Police investigations led to Falilu’s arrest on July 24, 2024, in possession of Reverend Kumah’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. He subsequently led police to Sanogo in Kumasi, who admitted to selling the phone and implicated Dunga, another phone dealer, who remains at large.

Sanogo and Falilu were charged and brought before the court. Despite Mr. Ofori’s arguments that the accused were not flight risks and had cooperated with police, the prosecution maintained that releasing them could jeopardize the investigation and trial, especially as they had been evading authorities since 2023.

    Efforts to apprehend Dunga continue.

The host of Good Evening Ghana called on the board of directors of Media General to caution the journalist and mitigate his level of outburst.

“Captain Smart is not a journalist because if you are a journalist, you don’t speak the way you do. How can you go on national television and say that anybody who votes for the NPP is insane? The board of directors of TV3 must discipline Captain Smart,” Paul Adom Otchere stated.

Joyce Bawah, a special aide to John Dramani Mahama, has asserted that anyone who attempts to insult the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer will end up fleeing, leaving their slippers behind.

In an interview on the ‘Badwam’ show, she expressed her intolerance for the politics of insult.

According to Bawah, those who choose to engage in such behavior will not find it easy.

Referring to a video she encountered before appearing on the morning show, she claimed that Samira Bawumia, the wife of Vice President Bawumia, had used unprintable words to describe Mahama.

She cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) political communicators that if they continue down this path, it will not bode well for them.

Samuel Atta-Mills, Member of Parliament for the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Constituency in the Central Region and brother of the late President Atta-Mills, has accused Koku Anyidoho of showing disrespect during the recent commemoration of the late President.

He claimed that Anyidoho’s actions were orchestrated and financially supported by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undermine the commemoration.

Atta-Mills criticized Anyidoho for allegedly engaging in political theatrics that he believes are intended to distort the legacy of the late President.

He emphasized that the commemoration should not be marred by political tactics and expressed a desire to keep the late President’s legacy free from political manipulation.

“Koku Anyidoho was sponsored by the NPP to tarnish the Atta-Mills commemoration. We want to keep politics out of his legacy,” Samuel Atta-Mills stated.

A memorial service of the late President Prof John Evans Atta Mills at the Asomdwee Park in Accra on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 was marred by a disagreement.

The confusion started after former deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho reportedly overran a scheduled time at the venue, delaying the second event at the same venue to mark 12 years since President Mills’ passing.

The second event was reportedly being organized by the NDC, according to a report by Joy FM.

Two wreath-laying ceremonies were scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 24, in commemoration of the passing of the former President who died on July 24, 2012.

Herbert Krapa appeals to financial institutions for expansion of solar projects in Ghana

Herbert Krapa, Ghana‘s Minister of State for Energy, has called on the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to increase its support for solar energy projects in Ghana.

He emphasized that additional funding for renewable energy, similar to what is available in other sectors, is crucial for advancing cleaner, greener energy solutions for the country’s industrial and manufacturing sectors.

Mr. Krapa made this appeal during the inauguration of a significant rooftop photovoltaic solar project in the Tema Free Zone Enclave, which has a capacity of 16.82 megawatts peak (MWp) and is valued at one million US dollars.

This project, developed by Helios Solar Company Limited a subsidiary of HML Holdings represents the largest solar installation in Africa and the second largest globally. It was completed in just eight months, supported by a US$17 million investment from the IFC.

He pointed out that despite Africa’s vast potential in solar, wind, and hydro energy, the continent lags behind Europe in solar installations due to financing challenges.

In Europe, solar installations typically cost less than two percent of a business’s capital, whereas in Africa, the cost averages around 20 percent or more.

The Minister praised the IFC for its contribution to the solar rooftop project and urged the organization to continue expanding its investment in renewable energy.

He highlighted that such projects could significantly reduce operational costs for businesses, leading to industry growth and job creation.

Mr. Adlai Opoku-Boamah, Managing Director of LMI, revealed that in December 2023, the IFC Board approved a US$110 million facility for LMI Holding.

This funding will be used to develop an additional 150 MWp of solar energy at Dawa. This solar park will serve two major projects: the Dawa City Project and the Dawa Industrial Zone.

The Dawa City Project aims to be Ghana’s first smart and green city, while the 4,000-acre Industrial Zone will support various sectors, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, food, and technology.

Businesses within the Dawa Industrial Zone will benefit from a reliable power supply and a 10 percent discount on electricity tariffs for five years, ensuring both operational efficiency and cost savings.

Elections 2024: EC to extend deadline for presidential aspirants

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced an extension for the submission of nomination forms by presidential candidates.

This decision is aimed at giving aspirants additional time to resolve any issues with their forms before they are finalized for the ballot.

Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Commissioner responsible for Operations at the EC, shared this update at the National Peace Council’s stakeholder forum.

Mr. Tettey emphasized the EC’s commitment to maintaining transparency throughout the electoral process, from start to finish.

“We are extending the days of nomination so that if there are certain challenges on the nomination forms of a particular candidate, we would be able to resolve that before we put them on the ballot papers,” he stated.

Big Joe Frazier, a seasoned Hiplife artist, has expressed his disapproval of actor Agya Koo, born Kofi Adu, for attempting to downplay the economic struggles in Ghana by equating them with difficulties faced abroad.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye, Big Joe Frazier criticized Agya Koo for suggesting that hardships are universal and not unique to Ghana.

He emphasized that comparing the situation in Ghana to conditions in other countries is inappropriate.

“Even though challenges exist globally, the situation in Ghana is distinct,” Big Joe Frazier said.

“In other countries, the systems are functional, so while there might be struggles, basic necessities like food, shelter, and clothing are generally not a concern. Jobs are available, allowing people to manage their expenses. In contrast, finding employment in Ghana is a major issue.”

Frazier expressed his disappointment with Agya Koo’s perspective, arguing that it fails to acknowledge the unique and severe nature of the struggles faced by Ghanaians.

Christian Kwabena Andrews, widely known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom and the founder of Life Assembly Worship Centre, has labeled the notions of heaven and hell as fraudulent.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV on July 26, 2024, he dismissed these concepts outright, stating, “I don’t believe in heaven; I don’t believe in hell. There’s nothing like that. It’s a big scam.”

Osofo Kyiri Abosom argued that belief in the afterlife is a distraction from the urgent need for national development.

He suggested that focusing on improving Ghana’s present conditions is more practical than anticipating a promised paradise.

“Heaven is on earth,” he asserted, stressing that neglecting national progress in favor of waiting for an afterlife is a waste of time.

He also criticized religious teachings about the afterlife, claiming that such doctrines are false.

“Whatever pastors tell you about the afterlife is a lie,” he said. “Once a person dies, they are dead forever and there’s nothing beyond that.”

Minority Chief Whip Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, representing Asawase, has sharply criticized Speaker Alban Bagbin, suggesting he is developing tyrannical tendencies.

Muntaka voiced his discontent in a Joy news interview.
He expressed his concerns, saying, “It’s unfortunate, but when you start treating the Parliament as if it’s your own personal domain, you risk becoming a tyrant.”

When asked if Bagbin had already reached that point, Muntaka replied, “He is moving towards it.”

Muntaka argued that Bagbin’s increasing intolerance and view of dissent as disrespect are problematic.

“As Speaker, you are expected to listen to differing views with patience and respect.

Democracy is about managing disagreements constructively. When a disagreement is seen as a personal affront, it undermines the role of the Speaker,” he explained.

He also contrasted Bagbin unfavorably with his predecessor, Speaker Mike Oquaye Snr., highlighting that Oquaye was more effective in building consensus during his term.

Gov’t’s intention to bring back road tolls suspicious – Prof Asuming

Patrick Asuming, a professor at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), has expressed skepticism about the government’s intention to reinstate road tolls.

He pointed out that similar proposals in the past to reintroduce abolished levies did not come to fruition, which fuels his doubts about the current plan.

Asuming criticized the e-levy, deeming it an ineffective tax that should be abolished regardless of whether road tolls return.

He highlighted that despite previous statements about reviving some removed tolls in 2023, no action was taken, leading him to question the current push for road tolls.

The e-levy is a bad tax that should be removed with or without the road tolls.

I am very suspicious that these road tolls will be back. In 2023 they stated that they were going to bring back some tolls that were removed but we didn’t hear anything about it. Now you are saying this.

“I am not sure there is a real intention to bring back the road tolls. It was a bad idea to remove the road tolls,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, July 27.

The government’s move to reintroduce road tolls, initially scrapped in 2021, was recently confirmed by Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam.

He announced that Cabinet has approved a framework for their reimplementation in 2025 during the mid-year budget review on July 23.

“Let us go back to a system of broad-based road tolls. The tolling system has to come back, and I think it will come back.

“It is a fundamental mistake of the government to place all road projects on the budget. The government doesn’t have enough money and the private sector has to be brought in,” he noted.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, has supported the return of road tolls as a necessary step for enhancing road infrastructure.

He argues that the current funding methods are insufficient and that road tolling could offer a solution by involving the private sector in infrastructure development.

The decision to cancel road toll collections in 2021 was intended to be offset by the introduction of the e-levy.

However, the e-levy has not met expectations, leading the government to consider reinstating road tolls in 2025.

Celine Dion makes a grand return to the stage at Paris Olympics

Celine Dion made a spectacular comeback at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, performing in a grand finale that followed the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. The iconic singer graced the stage from the first level of the Eiffel Tower, delivering a breathtaking rendition of Edith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’amour.”

Dion captivated the audience with her powerful and pristine voice, dressed in a dazzling white gown adorned with beads and tassels.

Kelly Clarkson, who was providing commentary for NBC, was initially left speechless by Dion’s performance and eventually praised her as a “vocal athlete.”

This live appearance marked Dion’s return to the stage after a hiatus due to her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare and progressive disorder impacting the nervous system.

She had previously announced in December 2022 that she needed to take a break from her professional life to focus on her health, citing difficulties in singing as a result of the condition.

The last time Dion performed live was in March 2020 in New Jersey.

Her performance at the Olympic Games is her first since revealing her diagnosis. Lady Gaga had earlier opened the Olympics with a performance of “Mon truc en plume,” paying tribute to Zizi Jeanmaire, a renowned French Music Hall performer from the 1950s.

In a recent interview promoting her documentary “I Am: Celine Dion,” which was released on Amazon, Dion described the challenges she faces with her condition, including involuntary muscle spasms and rigidity. She disclosed that the spasms can be so severe that they have caused broken ribs.

Despite these hurdles, Dion has remained resilient. She made a notable appearance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, presenting the final trophy.

In her documentary, she expressed her unwavering determination to continue performing, stating, “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. And I won’t stop. I won’t stop.”

MTN, a leading telecommunications provider, has pledged to maintain high-quality service and address the technical issues caused by recent fiber optic cable damage in the Ashanti Region.

Over the past seven months, the company has faced 471 attacks on its underground fiber network, impacting 38 cables and leading to access issues at multiple sites.

These disruptions, primarily caused by ongoing construction activities, have affected customers in the region.

Charles Osei Akoto, the Regional Technical Head for the Northern Sector, discussed these challenges during a media forum in Kumasi attended by local media representatives, Momo operators, SMEs, and banks.

He assured attendees that MTN is taking all possible technical measures to restore and maintain service quality.

At the forum, Mr. Nii Adotey Mingle, General Manager for the Northern District, shared MTN’s latest initiatives, including a restructured approach to better support small and medium enterprises, like those in the Kejetia market.

He also highlighted improvements in the company’s call center operations, aiming to make the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system more user-friendly and reduce the need for in-person visits to MTN offices.

The goal is to streamline customer service and manage the high volume of incoming calls more effectively.

Additionally, Mingle reported that the MTN Ghana Foundation has invested GHS106.5 million in various social projects, benefiting 4.5 million people across the country. These initiatives focus on education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and general community welfare.

Parliament approves €1.5 million tax waiver for e-learning laboratories in SHSs

Parliament has approved a tax waiver of €1.5 million for the supply and installation of integrated e-learning laboratories in Senior High Schools, following a significant €11.5 million contract with Televic Group N.V.

This initiative, part of the second phase of a project aimed at integrating ICT into education, is designed to enhance and optimize the delivery of education through advanced technology.

The Finance Committee, led by Patrick Yaw Boamah of Okaikwei Central, endorsed the waiver, highlighting the positive impact on the educational sector and the broader socio-economic benefits.

“The committee acknowledges the substantial advantages this project offers to education and the economy, and therefore recommends approval for the €1,517,040 needed for the installation of these e-learning labs in senior high schools,” Boamah said.

Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson also supported the waiver, arguing that while the opposition typically questions tax waivers, this particular case is an exception due to its clear benefits for the education system.

“Although we often oppose tax waivers on principle, we recognize that certain waivers, especially those aimed at enhancing education through ICT equipment like laptops and desktop computers, are justifiable and necessary for national progress,” Forson stated.

Health Ministry’s statement on $34m ambulance deal ‘hollow, bogus, dishonest and disingenuous’- Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has criticized the Ministry of Health’s response to his petition concerning the controversial $34 million ambulance spare parts deal.

Mr. Ablakwa accused former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and former Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu of colluding with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited to defraud the state. He noted that Ofori-Atta approved the deal just five days before leaving office, which he believes raises suspicions of misconduct and questions the newly incorporated company’s capacity to fulfill the contract.

Following these concerns, the MP petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate the deal, which the OSP has acknowledged.

In a statement dated July 25, the Ministry of Health denied allegations of paying $34.9 million to Service Ghana Auto Group Limited and expressed its readiness to provide further clarification.

However, in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Mr. Ablakwa criticized the Ministry’s statement as misleading and dishonest. He pointed out that his petition never mentioned a payment of $4.9 million and questioned why the Ministry would address a claim that was never made.

Mr. Ablakwa expressed frustration over what he perceived as the Ministry’s disrespect towards Ghanaians, highlighting the absence of any signatory on the statement as evidence of its dubious nature.

“To be very sincere with you, this is the most hollow, the most porous, bogus, the most dishonest and the most disingenuous statement I’ve ever come across. Who in Ghana has said 4.9 million dollars has been paid, who has said that? They are so fond of setting their own questions and proceeding to answer them, deliberately distorting the issue so that it will distract us from the real matter,” he stated.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability, rejecting what he called the Ministry’s deliberate attempts to obscure the real issue.

CETAG withdraws from meeting with Education Ministry amid prolonged strike

On Friday, July 26, the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) withdrew from a scheduled meeting with the Education Ministry meant to discuss the next steps regarding their ongoing strike.

CETAG cited the absence of a signed agreement from the Finance Ministry as the reason for their pullout. CETAG’s National Communications Officer, Fedilis Kamaayi, explained to JoyNews that they were expecting a signed agreement involving the Ministry and key stakeholders to facilitate the discussion, but such a document was not provided.

The strike, which began on June 14, stems from CETAG’s demands for better working conditions, including the implementation of arbitral awards from the National Labour Commission. In an effort to compel teachers to return to work, the government has frozen their salaries based on a directive from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

Voting out NPP is the best way to address rising public debt – Amaliba

Private legal practitioner, Abraham Amaliba ,a leading commentator criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, argued that a change in government is essential to address Ghana’s escalating public debt crisis.

He accused the current administration of prioritizing personal interests over the needs of Ghanaians and suggested that removing them from office is a crucial first step in stopping the economic decline.

“When you vote people into government you expect them to think for the people but these people think for their stomachs. The first step to stop the bleeding is to let this government go.

“Then what the next government should focus on are the areas we import so much and use hard currencies to import, let us begin to deal with those sectors,” he said on the Big Issue on TV3 Friday, July 27 while commenting on Ghana’s public stock which stood at GH¢742 billion, representing US$50.9 billion as of June 2024, according to the Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam.

The Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, reported that as of June 2024, Ghana’s public debt has reached GH¢742 billion (approximately US$50.9 billion), constituting 70.6% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

This debt is divided into GH¢452 billion in external debt and GH¢290 billion in domestic debt, representing 60.9% and 39.1% of the total debt stock, respectively.

The debt increased by 22% due to the depreciation of the cedi and ongoing disbursements from creditors.

Dr. Adam assured that the government is adhering to its budgetary constraints, having managed expenditures within the 2024 budgetary limits and exceeded midyear revenue targets by 0.2% as of June 2024.

He also highlighted the government’s commitment to achieving a primary surplus of 0.5% of GDP by the end of the year.

Further, he noted the successful completion of the second review of Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility with the IMF, which resulted in a third tranche disbursement of US$360 million, bringing the total to about US$1.6 billion.

The debt restructuring with the Official Creditor Committee (OCC) has yielded US$2.8 billion in debt relief, eliminating debt servicing from 2023 to 2026.

Negotiations with Eurobond holders have also led to a US$4.7 billion debt cancellation and US$4.4 billion in debt service relief for the same period.

Poor conditions among Ghanaian youth keeps me awake at night – Sophia Akuffo

Former Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Madam Sophia Akuffo, expressed deep concern over the current state of Ghanaian youth, which she says keeps her awake at night.

In an exclusive interview with TV3’s Alfred Ocansey, she revealed her worries about the lack of hope she perceives in the eyes of young people.

Madam Akuffo mentioned that, while she is not an economist and thus doesn’t lose sleep over economic details, she is deeply troubled by the uncertain future facing the youth.

“Maybe because I am not an economist I don’t stay awake because of the details of the economy but many times what keeps me awake is what is going to happen to the young people.

“For how long are we going to be in this situation or circumstance where you don’t really see much hope in the eyes of young people? When you get talking to them they don’t sound too hopeful.

“When they are sounding hopeful, it is about getting a visa of one type or the other or getting a university admission outside. Most often their eyes and hope are external and not in Ghana which I think is extremely sad.”

She highlighted that many young people do not seem hopeful about their prospects within Ghana.

Their optimism often centers around obtaining visas or admission to study abroad, rather than opportunities within their own country, which she finds profoundly sad.

She stressed the need for creating an enabling environment in Ghana to support young entrepreneurs.

Access to credit for startups is essential, she said, adding that individuals with advanced degrees should ideally be in positions to employ others.

Ensuring access to necessary financial resources without discrimination is crucial to fostering this entrepreneurial spirit.

“There should be an enabling environment, access to credit by stars up helps. Those are the things that make me sad because somebody with PhD should actually be seeing themselves as employing people who will be employing other people.

If it takes money to do that then there should be access to that money without being necessarily identifiable that you are from here or from there,” she said.

We were told the ‘gods’ had travelled– Project Manager explains delay in Ofankor-Nsawam road

Ing. Abdulai Mahama, Senior Project Manager, has addressed the reasons behind the delay in the Ofankor-Nsawam road project, which began in September 2022.

Originally scheduled for completion within 24 months, the project is currently around 60% finished.

In an interview on Adom TV’s ‘The Big Agenda’ with Abena Opokua Ahwenee, Mr. Mahama discussed the unforeseen challenges impacting the timeline.

He highlighted that the project faced delays due to the need to dismantle a shrine along the route.

“My sister, during construction, we encountered a shrine. We consulted the locals and were told the gods had travelled, which delayed us for three and a half months. We had to pay for two cattle and provide money before we were allowed to continue work,” Mr Mahama explained.

Local consultations revealed that the deities associated with the shrine were away, resulting in a three-and-a-half-month delay.

The project team had to compensate with two cattle and additional funds before resuming work.

Furthermore, issues with local land settlements and the repositioning of high-tension wires from ECG and GRIDCO have also contributed to the delay.

Mr. Mahama assured that despite these setbacks, the road’s design is robust, with a 20-year lifespan planned, while the drainage systems are built to endure for 50 years.

My first musical experience was singing in church – E.L

Ghanaian rapper Elorm Adablah, known professionally as E.L, recently shared insights into his musical journey during an interview on 3FM Lounge with AJ Sarpong.

Reflecting on his early experiences, E.L explained that his path to becoming a musician was gradual rather than the result of a single pivotal moment.

His initial foray into music began in church, where he sang in the choir and learned to play the keyboard and piano.

“I wouldn’t say there was a specific time in my life where I was going to do music. I guess it creeped up on him in stages. My earliest memory of having that musical experience was me being in church singing in the choir, they got me a keyboard and I started playing it and the piano.

“It was a very evolutionary process that led me to this place. I was in PRESEC and I joined Skillions, a rap group and before you knew it, I was on stage performing so I have just been led to this path by my Guardian angel,” E.L said on Thursday, July 25.

This formative experience laid the groundwork for his later involvement with music.

While at PRESEC Legon, he joined the rap group Skillions, which marked the beginning of his performance career. E.L described his musical evolution as a natural progression guided by what he feels was a guardian angel.

In addition to discussing his early experiences, E.L offered advice to fellow artists about the importance of self-production.

He emphasized that learning to produce one’s own beats can be highly beneficial, as it allows artists to directly express their creative ideas without intermediaries.

“I have told this to all my friends, the earlier you start learning how to produce your own beats if you are a musician the better.

“I have gotten through a few of them and they realise like its so much easier to bring out the idea directly yourself than to go through to someone,” he added.

E.L, who has been away from the music scene for a period, is set to make a comeback with his new album, Bar 7.

Scheduled for release on Friday, July 26, the album features 13 tracks and collaborations with various artists, and will be available on all streaming platforms.

Learn how to produce your own beats – E.L to fellow artists

Renowned Ghanaian rapper and producer E.L has encouraged fellow artists to learn the art of producing their own beats.

He believes this skill empowers musicians to maintain the authenticity of their creative vision without relying on others.

Speaking on 3FM on July 25, 2024, E.L, also known as Elom Adablah, emphasized the benefits of producing one’s own beats.

He highlighted that personally creating beats allows artists to directly express their ideas, which he finds more efficient than involving additional contributors.

“I have told this to all my friends, the earlier you start learning how to produce your own beats if you are a musician, the better. I have gotten through a few of them and they realise it’s so much easier to bring out the idea directly yourself than to go through someone,” he said.

Reflecting on his musical journey, E.L recalled his early experiences singing in church and later joining a rap group during his time at PRESEC Legon.

He described music as gradually becoming his calling rather than a sudden realization.

“I wouldn’t say there was a specific time in my life where I knew I was going to do music. It crept up on me in stages. My earliest memory of having that musical experience was me being in church singing in the choir. They got me a keyboard and I started playing it and the piano.

“It was a very evolutionary process that led me to this place. I was in PRESEC and I joined Skillions, a rap group, and before you knew it, I was on stage performing. I have just been led to this path by my Guardian angel,” E.L shared.

After a hiatus from the music scene, E.L has announced the upcoming release of his new album, ‘Bar 7’. Featuring 13 tracks, the album is set to debut on July 26, 2024, across various streaming platforms.

Most sinful acts begin after church services – Big Joe Frazier

Ghanaian Hiplife icon Big Joe Frazier has voiced his thoughts on what he perceives as ‘hypocrisy’ among Christians in Ghana. In a recent interview with Property FM in Cape Coast, he pointed out a curious pattern he has observed: many of the country’s sinful activities seem to take place after church services on Sundays.

He explained, “There’s a well-known idea that God should be our top priority, so often people choose to engage in certain activities only after attending church. I’ve noticed a lot of hypocrisy in this behavior, especially on Sundays when individuals go to church first before anything else.”

Big Joe Frazier shared that these observations inspired him to release his new single, ‘After Church,’ which features King Paluta. He elaborated, “I saw that people often engage in negative behavior or even curse others right after church. This idea became the foundation for my song.”

He also mentioned that crafting the lyrics for ‘After Church’ was a meticulous process, aimed at creating a track that resonates deeply and stands the test of time.

Respect the elderly – Adom Kyei Duah fires Christian Council

Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei Duah, the Founder and Leader of the Philadelphia Movement, has delivered a sharp rebuke to the Christian Council of Ghana following their critique of his recent announcement. Duah had declared that he had received a divine mandate to replace traditional images of Jesus Christ with his own likeness for the next 500 years. This proclamation has stirred considerable debate online, with reactions ranging from disbelief to amusement.

In response, the Christian Council of Ghana issued a statement titled “Beware of False Teachers and Messiahs,” in which they rejected Duah’s claim and reaffirmed their belief in the singularity of Jesus Christ as described in the Bible. They emphasized that Prophet Duah cannot and should not be considered a replacement for Jesus, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was crucified.

Prophet Adom Kyei Duah countered the Council’s remarks with a stern warning, urging them to show respect. He asserted that the events of the Bible are about to be reenacted accurately, as he plans to produce a film depicting the life of Jesus Christ. According to Duah, previous portrayals of biblical events have been flawed, including those of the “wicked pastors” depicted in the Bible. He called on the Christian Council to be cautious and adhere to proper conduct, hinting at forthcoming dramatic reenactments of biblical events.

He concluded by stressing the need for reverence and respect within the religious community, signaling that his planned film would correct previous inaccuracies in the depiction of biblical narratives.

Describing the encounter, E.L said, “I don’t have many wild stories. I try to maintain a gentlemanly demeanor, so I don’t experience too much craziness.
