Diddy faces new sexual assault allegation

Sean “Diddy” Combs, a prominent figure in the rap industry, faces a new legal challenge as another woman, former porn star Adria English, has come forward with fresh accusations against him. Filed in New York, this complaint is the latest in a series of lawsuits alleging sexual assault and coercion against Combs in recent months.

Combs, known for his success as a rap mogul, has consistently denied all allegations of sexual assault and physical abuse, including these latest claims. Despite the mounting legal pressure, including a federal criminal investigation reported by NBC News, no imminent charges have been mentioned.

Earlier allegations by his ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura and footage from 2016 showing an altercation between Combs and Ventura have also contributed to his legal challenges. The new case from Adria English alleges that Combs forced her into sex work at parties and threatened her career if she did not comply, among other claims detailed in a 114-page filing covering events between 2004 and 2009.

Combs’s legal team maintains his innocence, stating, “No matter how many lawsuits are filed it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone,” expressing confidence in prevailing against the allegations in court.

This latest lawsuit follows a settlement in November with Ventura, where Combs resolved allegations of rape and sexual trafficking without admitting wrongdoing. Federal investigations into human trafficking, involving raids on Combs’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami earlier this year, continue, according to sources cited by NBC News. Specific details about the federal probe have not been disclosed by officials or Combs’s legal representatives.

    Chef Smith breaks silence

The manager of Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, known as Chef Smith, has asserted that he and his client received an official email from the Guinness World Records (GWR) office declaring him a record holder.

This statement follows GWR’s denial of Chef Smith’s earlier claim on July 2, 2024, that he had attained a world record.

Speaking to Accra-based Hitz FM on July 3, 2024, Benny, Chef Smith’s manager, stated that he possessed an official communication from GWR affirming Chef Smith’s record.

Benny indicated unfamiliarity with GWR’s contradictory statements and emphasized the existence of the email declaring Chef Smith’s achievement.

Regarding concerns over the authenticity of Chef Smith’s claim, Benny suggested awaiting further clarification.

However, as of now, Benny has not provided a copy of the purported email from GWR.

Chef Smith initiated his cooking marathon on February 1, 2024, at the Amadia Shopping Centre in Spintex, Accra, cooking for 820 hours until March 6, 2024, falling short of his initial goal of 1,200 hours.

On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith announced during a press conference in Accra that he had been recognized by GWR as a record holder.

However, GWR’s Public Relations Manager, Madalyn Bielfield, subsequently confirmed that Chef Smith’s presented certificate for the longest cooking marathon by an individual was not authentic.

The current record holder remains Alan Fisher, not Chef Smith.

Prophet J.Y. Adu, founder of New Jerusalem Chapel, revealed that gospel musician Yaw Sarpong ceased attending his church after receiving a miraculous healing in 2012.

Sarpong, who was severely ill, experienced divine healing shortly after visiting the chapel.

The prophet expressed disappointment over Sarpong’s departure and mentioned ongoing spiritual care for him amid health challenges related to a stroke.

“I healed Yaw Sarpong in 2012/2013, and he came to thank God, but afterwards, he did not attend my church. He visited other pastors in Accra. I didn’t know Yaw until he came for healing at my church,” he explained in Twi. “He frequented various churches until he received death prophecies, which led to his return. He emphasized that these contemporary approaches have the potential to combat piracy and generate substantial revenue for artists, unlike older methods.

In contrast, Gospel singer Phillipa Baafi has advocated for the reintroduction of selling music on CDs and pen drives in Ghana, citing concerns that many Ghanaians are not proficient with technology and that streaming services may not provide adequate revenue for artists.

During an interview on Hitz FM on July 4, 2024, Kwabena Kwabena stressed the importance of establishing proper structures to ensure musicians receive direct royalties from digital service providers (DSPs).

He highlighted the recent monetization of Facebook as a positive development and called on the communication and tourism ministries to facilitate similar revenue opportunities for artists.

Kwabena Kwabena also reflected on the past advantages artists enjoyed, such as receiving financial support from executive producers during studio recordings.

The management of the Amadia Shopping Centre, owned by Mrs. Nana Ama Duodo, intervened during Mr. Ebenezer Smith’s press conference for specific reasons.

In a statement released on July 4, 2024, they clarified that singer Nana Boroo, who is also Mrs. Duodo’s brother and manages the shopping center, led their delegation to the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

Their aim was to address concerns related to Chef Smith’s Guinness World Records (GWR) certificate.

Amadia Shopping Centre had sponsored Chef Smith’s culinary performance from February 1 to March 6, 2024, and had been unable to reach his team regarding video uploads and GWR’s response.

Surprised by a press conference celebrating Chef Smith’s alleged GWR victory as the new cooking marathon champion, Amadia’s attempts to clarify matters with Chef Smith’s team were allegedly ignored.

It’s sad some women prioritize BBL to attract men than pursuing PhD – Blakk Rasta

Blakk Rasta, a radio personality and musician, has expressed concern over a growing trend among women prioritizing Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedures over higher education. He reminisced about his student days when women were committed to academic excellence and competed with men for top honors.

Rasta observes that many women today seem more focused on cosmetic surgeries, such as augmenting their breasts and buttocks, to attract men and financial benefits, rather than pursuing advanced degrees like a PhD. During the Urban Blend show on 3FM, he recounted a video on Facebook where a woman bragged about engaging in sexual activities for financial rewards.

He lamented, “It is sad what is happening these days. Ladies do not prioritize education anymore. Many prefer a surgeon’s injection to boost their buttocks and breasts over academic achievements. In my day, women struggled academically alongside men to earn honors.

“The other day, I saw a video on Facebook where a lady said, ‘I am looking for a guy to give me a doggy style so he would buy a car for me.’ One doggy style for a car? Are you a porn star?” he questioned.

The BBL procedure, popular among celebrities and other women seeking to enhance their physical appeal, involves transferring fat from areas like the abdomen, hips, lower back, or thighs to the buttocks. This surgical method aims to create a more hourglass figure by enlarging the buttocks and reducing the waist size if fat is removed from the abdominal area or lower back.

Why I quit NPP – Wayoosi reveals

Kumawood actor Joseph Osei, popularly known as Wayoosi, recently explained his reasons for leaving the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In an interview with Zionfelix, Wayoosi attributed his departure to the actions of the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).

Wayoosi recounted his active involvement in NAPO’s campaign for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat for Manhyia South constituency.

He reached out to delegates to secure votes for NAPO, contributing significantly to the minister’s successful election.

However, after NAPO won the seat, Wayoosi felt unacknowledged and disregarded, with their interactions becoming brief and infrequent.

Feeling unappreciated, Wayoosi lost interest in the NPP and has since shown support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

His comments come amidst speculations that NAPO might be chosen as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate for the upcoming 2024 elections.

“I got to know NPP through NAPO, and he needed my assistance for his MP campaign. He handed me a list of delegates who might oppose him, and I reached out to each one to persuade them to vote for us. Since he was elected MP, our conversations haven’t lasted more than 30 seconds. Nearly every time I called, he was occupied with a meeting. It dawned on me that he no longer needed my help after achieving his goal. This realization caused me to lose interest in the party,” Wayoosi stated in Twi.

The Institute of Energy Security (IES) presented on “Enhancing Synergy between Ghana’s Upstream and Downstream Petroleum,” highlighting challenges such as underutilized assets like the Tema Oil Refinery, reliance on imported refined products, and inconsistent regulatory frameworks. The Natural Resources Governance Institute discussed governance issues in the gas sector, emphasizing the need for decentralization, improved corporate governance, and better infrastructure to handle gas production.

Jacob Tetteh Ahuno from the Ghana Integrity Initiative addressed the need for transparent political party and campaign financing to combat corruption. He criticized the current asset declaration regime for its lack of verification and monitoring.

Ghanaian radio personality Kwami Sefa Kayi expressed shock and disappointment over the recent controversy involving Chef Ebenezer Smith, also known as Chef Smith.

The chef falsely claimed to have set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, stating that he cooked for 802 hours and 25 minutes.

Chef Smith made this announcement on July 2, 2024, during a press conference where he displayed a certificate, supposedly from Guinness World Records. However, it was later revealed that the certificate was fake.

On his Kokrokoo show on July 3, 2024, Kwame Sefa Kayi addressed the issue, expressing his confusion and dismay.

He remarked, “Those who follow the Guinness Book of World Records cook-a-thon, I learned a man called Chef Smith had a press conference telling Ghanaians that he had won the cook-a-thon but that is not true. But I’m really pained about it, why would you do that?…this is unfortunate. This is sad.”

The legitimacy of Chef Smith’s claim was questioned by Derek Edem Kojo, a journalist from GhOne TV.

In response to his inquiry, Madalyn Bielfield, PR Manager for Guinness World Records, confirmed that the certificate displayed by Chef Smith was not genuine and that the current record holder is Alan Fisher.

Bielfield stated, “No, this is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate.”

I lost a huge deal with ‘Joy Dadi’ due to the FDA alcohol ad ban – Mzbel

Ghanaian Hiplife artist and entrepreneur, Mzbel, has criticized the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) for its directive banning alcohol advertisements by celebrities. In an interview on Onua FM, she revealed a personal experience from eight years ago when she lost a substantial amount of money due to this ban.

Mzbel explained that she had entered into a deal with Joy Dadi to advertise their alcoholic brand, receiving an initial payment of Gh₵25,000. However, the deal was abruptly canceled when the company learned of the FDA’s prohibition. Despite preparations for a billboard campaign and expenses already incurred, including photoshoots, the project was scrapped.

Expressing disappointment, Mzbel lamented that the cancellation left a significant balance unpaid, money she could have used to start a business or contribute to charitable causes. She emphasized her frustration over the lost opportunity caused by the FDA’s advertising restrictions on alcohol, which aimed to prevent minors from being influenced by celebrity endorsements.

The FDA’s guidelines, implemented in 2016, prohibit the use of well-known personalities in alcohol advertising to curb underage drinking, aligning with global health policies. Despite legal challenges, including a recent Supreme Court dismissal of a lawsuit contesting the directive, the ban remains in effect, prompting ongoing debate within Ghana’s entertainment and regulatory circles.

“They gave me Gh₵25,000 that was a long time. About seven to eight years ago. It was part payment; they had paid for my photoshoots and every other expense and we were preparing for a billboard before they realized about the FDA ban so we could not do the billboard.

“The pictures that we took and every other thing we did went to waste. They could bot take back the money because they had already paid me,” she noted.

“It worried me. I was pained by everything because the balance left was huge sum of money which I could have used to start a project and even donated to some people but I lost everything,” she added.

The third accused in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial, Richard Jakpa, is confident he will emerge victorious.

He believes the evidence presented in court supports his position and is optimistic it will convince the court beyond reasonable doubt.

In an interview on JoyNews’ “The Pulse” on July 3, Jakpa explained his consistent smile despite facing potential jail time.

When host Elton John Brobbey asked about his demeanor, Jakpa responded, “I don’t think so because of the evidence that I have adduced in court. I am very confident that I will come out victorious based upon the evidence in court.”

GWR deactivates longest cooking marathon (individual) category

Guinness World Records (GWR) has stated that the longest cooking marathon (individual) record category is no longer active.

Ghana began its second cooking marathon attempt with Chef Ebenezer Smith stepping in after Failatu Abdul Razak’s unsuccessful bid.

Chef Smith cooked for 35 days in Spintex, clocking 820 hours and concluding his attempt on 1 March.

Recently, Chef Smith announced himself as the West African record holder at a press conference, stirring excitement in Ghana after Afua Asantewaa’s singing marathon.

However, Guinness World Records (GWR) refuted this claim in an email sent by GHone TV, clarifying that Chef Smith does not hold the title and that his certificate is not legitimate.

According to GWR, the current record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual) is Alan Fisher of Ireland, who achieved 119 hours 57 minutes 16 seconds in Japan from 28 September to 3 October 2023.

They have deactivated several records for various reasons, often citing the difficulty in measuring or judging certain achievements.

Following his controversial press conference, Chef Smith, known as Millennium Chef, ended up at the police station.

Reports indicate he was chased out of the conference by men in police and military uniforms, brought by Nana Boroo over an alleged breach of contract between him and Smith.

Content creators from Ghana to earn money from Facebook

The Ministry of Information (MOI) has commended Meta for introducing monetization features on Facebook for content creators in Ghana, marking a significant advancement in empowering local digital talent.

Announced by Sade Dada, Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa at Meta, these features will later extend to Instagram.

These new monetization tools enable content creators to earn revenue through in-stream ads placed next to their content, as well as ads on Facebook reels.

This development provides creators with opportunities to earn a share of the ad revenue generated.

The Ministry of Information confirmed the feature’s introduction through a press release, expressing gratitude to Meta for its substantial investment in Ghana’s digital economy.

The Ministry anticipates continued collaboration to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship, optimistic that this expansion will create new opportunities for talented creators and support the growth of the country’s digital economy.

Additionally, the Ministry committed to further engagements between Meta and the New Media Association of Ghana to explore additional opportunities.

This initiative is seen as a significant milestone, set to empower Ghanaian content creators and contribute to the broader development of the country’s digital landscape.

We never received an application from Chef Smith for cook-a-thon attempt – GWR

Guinness World Records (GWR) has clarified that it never received an application for a cooking marathon from Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith.

PR Manager for GWR, Madalyn Bielfeld confirmed in an email to GraphicOnline that the certificate Chef Smith presented is not legitimate, as GWR did not issue it nor did they verify his attempt.

She stated, “No, we were not aware. We have not received an application from him for this attempt.”

Chef Smith reportedly began his cooking marathon on February 1, 2024, at the Amadia Shopping Centre in Spintex, Accra, and concluded on March 6, 2024, after cooking for 820 hours, with an initial goal of 1,200 hours. Despite claiming to have broken the record, GWR maintains that the official longest cooking marathon record is held by Alan Fisher of Ireland, who cooked for 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.

Chef Smith’s announcement of being declared a record holder by GWR on July 2, 2024, was met with scrutiny due to discrepancies in the certificate he displayed.

Unlike GWR certificates, Smith’s listed his nationality instead of his country and spelled out the duration of his attempt differently from the standard GWR format.

This is why Socrate Safo walked out on United Showbiz set despite MzGee’s plea

Veteran film producer Socrate Safo exited the United Showbiz programme following a heated dispute with entertainment pundit A Plus over alleged fund distribution to film producers. The argument intensified when A Plus insulted Safo, comparing his intellect to a “chicken’s clitoris.”

Offended, Safo demanded an apology to continue the show. Despite host MzGee’s attempts to mediate, the apology was not forthcoming. Safo explained his decision to leave, stating, “I maintain respect for the producers, you, and our audience. I choose to leave to allow the show’s continuation. My children watching this would be hurt.”

MzGee acknowledged Safo’s departure and mentioned ongoing efforts by producers to resolve the conflict.

The debate began when Safo countered actress Christiana Awuni’s claim that the NPP administration failed to disburse funds to film producers, asserting that the National Film Authority (NFA) had provided 80,000 euros to some producers. Ola Michael contested this, stating the funds came from an international grant, not the government.

A Plus accused Safo of spreading misinformation, leading to a fiery exchange. Safo challenged the accuracy of his own statement, asserting, “Some producers received 80,000 euros from the NFA. Verify this with them.” A Plus retorted in Twi, calling Safo dishonest and questioning his authority, leading to further escalation.

The NFA has yet to confirm whether the funds were governmental or from an international source.

‘We’re not children’ – Watch the heated exchange between A Plus and Socrate Safo on TV

During a recent episode of UTV’s United Showbiz, hosted by MzGee on June 29, 2024, a heated argument erupted between entertainment pundit Kwame A Plus and veteran film producer Socrate Safo. The controversy centered around a promise made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to allocate funds to film producers.

Actress Christiana Awuni had previously asserted that the NPP administration failed to disburse the promised funds. Socrate Safo, however, countered this claim by stating that the National Film Authority (NFA) had provided financial support to some producers, specifying an amount of 80,000 euros. Ola Michael, another panelist, intervened to clarify that the funds were not from the government but rather from an international grant.

The discussion escalated when A Plus accused Socrate of spreading misinformation. Socrate’s claim, “Assessing the creative arts sector’s impact, you didn’t receive any funds because you’re not producers. Verify with the NFA regarding their support for producers; some received 80,000 euros,” was met with skepticism. He added, “Am I lying? The funds are grants from overseas, facilitated by whom if not the NFA? My friend, leave.”

Ola Michael’s refutation of Socrate’s assertion prompted A Plus to respond vehemently in Twi, accusing Socrate of dishonesty and saying, “You attempted to lie and were caught. You’ve been caught regarding the NFA’s alleged 80,000 euro distribution to producers. You’re dishonest. Who are you to order me away?

“Feel free to depart. Don’t feign irritation. I must correct him; such behavior won’t be tolerated again. Don’t address us as if we’re your children; I’m more educated than you. What are you capable of?”

As of now, the NFA has not confirmed whether the funds provided to producers were from the government or an international source.

General Secretary of Ghana’s governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has announced that the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is prepared to engage in a debate with former President John Mahama.

He emphasized that such a debate would allow Ghanaians to hear from both candidates and make informed decisions ahead of the December general elections.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Pulse on July 2, Kodua stated, “His Excellency Bawumia is ready for former President Mahama, and I believe it will be a valuable opportunity for Ghanaian voters to listen to both leaders and decide wisely. I am confident that His Excellency Bawumia will outshine Mahama.”

Kodua highlighted recent polls suggesting a strong chance for Mahama in the elections, but stressed that the ultimate verdict would come from the December 7 vote.

He emphasized the importance of citizens voting for their preferred leader.

“In May 2023, the NDC elected former President Mahama, and between then and November when we elected His Excellency Bawumia, Mahama had ample opportunity to campaign unchallenged,” Kodua explained.

“However, once Bawumia became our flagbearer and started sharing his vision and achievements as Vice President, it’s no surprise that Mahama’s popularity, as indicated by surveys, has waned.”

Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen has unveiled his vision for Ghana’s future, focusing on enhancing the fight against corruption and revitalizing the economy.

He proposed replacing the Office of the Special Prosecutor with an independent Anti-corruption Overlord and consolidating scattered anti-corruption laws into a single comprehensive framework.

Kyerematen’s manifesto, the Great Transformational Plan (GTP), underscored a commitment to prioritize the needs of vulnerable communities, particularly persons living with disabilities.

He criticized District Assemblies for inadequately allocating their Common Fund to support these groups.

Additionally, he aims to reduce Ghana’s debt-to-GDP ratio from 62.7% to 5%, highlighting his strategy for economic rejuvenation and national progress.

He said, “It is very important that we review the existing programmes. Governments will say we have programmes for persons living with disabilities but how far has this programmes helped them?” He asked.

“Currently, the Special Prosecutor derives its powers from the Attorney-General which is not helping to support the powers of the Special Prosecutor, so we are proposing that authorities assigned to the Overlord is not linked to the Attorney-General and so we are creating a whole new institution for dealing with corruption which is different from what we have now,” Alan Kyerematen added.

Cement price hikes may lead to shoddy works – Stakeholders

The recent hike in cement prices has sparked widespread concerns, particularly among construction professionals like Yaw Poku, a seasoned contractor specializing in commercial properties.

With over two decades in the industry, Yaw fears that increased costs will force adjustments in project plans, ultimately burdening his clients.

“The country is already facing challenges, and now with rising cement prices, construction costs are soaring. This will inevitably drive up rents and overall living expenses,” Yaw lamented, highlighting the potential for some contractors to compromise on quality to manage costs, which could lead to structural integrity issues.

At Ola Balm block factory in Bubiashie, the impact of higher cement prices is evident, with prices of cement blocks rising sharply.

Francis Blewuji, expressing frustration as a producer, emphasized the need for a balanced approach where both producers and consumers can thrive amidst economic pressures.

Supacem, among other manufacturers, has raised prices substantially, citing increased production costs.

The ongoing debate over proposed price regulation by the Trade and Industry Minister reflects broader concerns about profit maximization versus economic sustainability.

These price hikes, marking the third increase in just two quarters, not only threaten the affordability of housing but also challenge Ghana’s efforts to address its significant housing deficit, currently estimated at 2 million units.
