Electoral malpractice as electorates make public used ballot papers during special voting

Some special voters in the Greater Accra region have been caught sharing images of their completed ballot papers, revealing their votes for presidential candidates Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This breach of ballot secrecy is a serious offense and could lead to legal consequences for those involved.

The disclosure of used ballot papers undermines the integrity of the process and highlights the need for strict adherence to electoral rules.

Meanwhile, the relevant authorities are yet to begin investigations to capture the perpetrators.

Special voting, which is currently taking place at selected polling stations across Ghana, allows specific individuals—such as electoral officials, security personnel, and media representatives—to cast their votes ahead of the general elections on December 7. This exercise ensures that they can fulfill their duties on the election day without hindrance.

According to the Electoral Commission (EC), around 131,478 individuals, representing 0.007% of the total electorate of 18,741,159, are expected to participate in today’s special voting.

  • The exchange rate has been better under the NPP – Bawumia

The exchange rate has been better under the NPP – Bawumia

Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has claimed that the NPP government has managed the exchange rate more effectively than the National Democratic Congress (NDC), despite facing significant global economic challenges.

Dr. Bawumia compared the performances of the two parties, emphasizing that under the NPP government, the Ghanaian cedi has depreciated by 72% over eight years, a figure he described as lower than the NDC’s 74% depreciation during their tenure.

“I want to talk about the exchange rate and I want them (NDC) to listen because they don’t understand. When it comes to the exchange rate, we measure the performance by the rates of depreciation. When you look at their period, the cedi depreciated by 74% without a global crisis, no Russia-Ukraine war, no COVID-19 outbreak, and no global economic recession. Under the NPP for eight years with a global economic crisis, we have depreciated the cedi by 72%, which is lower than their depreciation,” he stated.

The Vice President argued that the NPP’s handling of the exchange rate demonstrates superior economic management compared to the NDC, particularly as the latter governed during a period of relative global stability.

He also stressed that the performance of the exchange rate should be judged based on the rate of depreciation rather than nominal values, adding, “The NDC doesn’t understand how exchange rates are measured and managed.”

Dr. Bawumia urged Ghanaians to consider the broader context of global economic challenges when assessing the government’s performance. He reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to stabilizing the economy despite unprecedented global crises, touting the party’s resilience in navigating difficult economic conditions.

  • Lady who drove Bawumia in Ghana’s first electric bus not a ‘kayayo’

Lady who drove Bawumia in Ghana’s first electric bus not a ‘kayayo’

The woman who drove Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the pilot phase of Ghana’s electric bus programme was not a former head porter (kayayo), contrary to claims by Deputy Minister for Transport, Hassan Tampuli.

Hassan Tampuli, speaking on Citi FM’s Citi Breakfast Show on November 28, 2024, had lauded a government initiative that trained kayayei to operate electric buses, asserting that one of the beneficiaries drove the Vice President during the event. His comments, made between 32:04 and 32:31 minutes into the second hour of the show, sparked widespread reactions on social media.

“You made mention of the fact that we trained some specially selected kayayei. So, yesterday, for example, they were given their tools and certificates to commence driving. Yesterday, one of them drove us from Adenta to Kimbu,” Tampuli stated.

However, investigations reveal that the driver, identified as Mary Lalako Agboli, was neither a kayayo nor a participant in the government’s recently announced head porter training initiative.

Mary is a professional bus driver who trained under the Network of Women Growth (NEWIG Ghana), a non-profit organization focused on empowering women through vocational and entrepreneurial training. She graduated from NEWIG Ghana’s Professional Driving Initiative and has been employed with Aayalolo, a bus rapid transit system, for nearly six years.

A June 2024 article by NEWIG Ghana titled Mary Lalako Agboli: Breaking Stereotypes and Driving Towards Success documented her career progression, confirming that she was already an experienced bus driver at the time the government launched its kayayei training programme on May 30, 2024.

Further evidence includes a February 2020 news report by Channel One TV (formerly Citi TV), featuring footage of Mary driving an Aayalolo bus, and a September 2024 Instagram post showing her with the CEO of NEWIG Ghana.

    https://twitter.com/Rasta4NDC/status/1862096452752662847?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1862096452752662847%7Ctwgr%5E1c88e0470f599edbfee04f02bfccff204d4d84a7%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fthefeatherpost.com%2Fsocial-media-users-dig-up-photos-videos-of-bawumias-kayayo-driver-driving-mahamas-ayalolo-bus%2F

Given her professional background, Mary could not have been a beneficiary of the kayayei training programme, as claimed by Hassan Tampuli. She was already an established bus driver with years of experience prior to the government’s initiative.

  • Mahama, Bawumia, other political party leaders sign peace pact

Mahama, Bawumia, other political party leaders sign peace pact

Presidential candidates contesting the December 7 elections have signed a peace pact as a sign of their commitment to ensure and uphold peace ahead of the 2024 polls, during and after.

The event took place at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City, Accra, under the theme: Pursuing Peaceful Elections, Non-Violence, and Justice.

Currently, 13 presidential candidates are officially contesting Ghana’s 2024 elections.

The current vice president and flagbearer of the ruling (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, and former president and presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, are the two leading candidates in contention to win the poll.

Others include independent candidates such as Alan Kyerematen and George Twum-Barima-Adu.

Speaking at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, Jean Mensa encouraged confidence in the electoral process and emphasised the importance of a peaceful and stable environment during the elections.

She reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to promoting peace throughout the electoral process leading up to the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), made a passionate appeal to political parties, the media, and security agencies to preserve peace during and after the elections. He stressed the need for all actors to ensure peace prevails, emphasising that Ghana has always passed the test of democracy during elections.

In attendance for the signing of the peace pact, John Mahama remarked that although the NDC will protect the country’s peace, the onus lies on all to play their part in safeguarding the country’s peace.

“We are all too aware of the devastating consequences of electoral violence in other countries. We cannot afford to traverse that same path. As patriotic citizens, we have a collective responsibility to ensure our country remains a beacon of peace and stability in our subregion, and we in the NDC stand prepared to play our part to achieve this,” he said.

His primary contender, Dr Bawumia, also assured that, “As we head into the December 2024 polls, the 9th presidential elections in Ghana, nine days from today, I am certain of two outcomes. Ghana will win, and peace will reign.”

He also added that “My plea to everybody involved in the electioneering process, including candidates, political parties, electoral officers, voters, the media, security, and the general public, is to take responsibility for ensuring peace and harmony seriously and to demonstrate that we are not reluctant Democrats.”

Ghana will win and peace will reign – Bawumia shares outcome of 2024 polls

Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed confidence that the 2024 general elections will be peaceful and further cement Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy.

Speaking at the national signing of the peace pact on Thursday, November 28, 2024, Dr. Bawumia assured, “As we head into the December 2024 polls, the 9th presidential elections in Ghana, nine days from today, I am certain of two outcomes. Ghana will win and peace will reign.”

He highlighted Ghana’s track record as a law-abiding country and urged all stakeholders to uphold the values of democracy. “We have been here before and can prove again that Ghana is a shining example of a resilient democracy,” he emphasized.

Dr. Bawumia appealed to electoral stakeholders to take their roles seriously in fostering harmony.

“My plea to everybody involved in the electioneering process, including candidates, political parties, electoral officers, voters, the media, security, and the general public, is to take responsibility for ensuring peace and harmony seriously and to demonstrate that we are not reluctant democrats.”

The Vice President added, “We will come out of this election stronger as a nation.”

The event also saw other political leaders, including John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), signing the peace pact aimed at promoting a peaceful electoral process.

Mahama, however, cautioned that peace agreements must be backed by genuine actions to maintain trust. “There is reason to be concerned that the signing of this pact, though well-intentioned, could amount to nothing if not followed by concrete actions to guarantee the peace by the stakeholders and government,” he warned.

He underscored the importance of aligning declarations with actions, adding, “It is all well and good for us to commit to peace and recite beautiful platitudes. However, all efforts to build peace before, during, and after the 2024 elections would be futile if mistrust and insincerity persist. Mistrust arises when there is a disconnect between words and actions, compounded by gaslighting from those in authority.”

Drawing from past experiences, Mahama recalled the violence during the 2020 general elections and the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election. “We all recall the appalling spectacle of masked men acting on the orders of operatives of the government, shooting indiscriminately at innocent Ghanaians going about their legitimate electoral activity during that by-election. Some of the victims of that shooting incident remain incapacitated till now.”

He criticized the government for failing to implement recommendations from the Emile Short Commission, which investigated the by-election violence, stating, “The inaction of the government in the face of the murder of eight of our citizens during the last election casts a shadow of doubt on government commitment to maintain the peace. How are we to believe that such killings would not reoccur?”

Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa assured Ghanaians of a credible electoral process, stating, “Robust measures are in place to ensure the elections are peaceful, free, fair, and transparent.”

The peace pact, signed by political parties and their candidates, is aimed at ensuring a peaceful election and upholding Ghana’s democratic principles.

Bawumia takes a ride with ‘kayayo’ driver in Ghana’s new electric bus

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was driven by Mary Lalako Agboli, a trained Kayayo (female head porter), in one of the newly commissioned electric buses during a graduation ceremony held on Wednesday, November 27.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of a skills development programme designed to train Kayayei in driving, aiming to enhance their employability and improve their livelihoods.

The initiative, part of broader efforts to support marginalised groups, also coincided with the commissioning of the electric buses by Dr. Bawumia, who is the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking at the event, the Vice President emphasized the government’s dual commitment to sustainable transportation and human capital development.

He described the electric buses as a step toward modernizing the country’s transport sector while addressing environmental concerns by reducing Ghana’s carbon footprint.

I have paid attention to all, but Bawumia’s policies stand out – Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has commended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his exceptional policies, describing them as outstanding among his peers.

Speaking to Abuakwa South constituents on Wednesday, Mr Kufuor entreated voters to go all out for Dr Bawumia, stating that his policies will be a great deal to alleviate hardships faced by Ghanaians.

“I have been paying attention. Bawumia’s policies, particularly his focus on training the youth in entrepreneurial and digital skills, are good. If you don’t want this, what do you want? So I plead with you, he is not just coming for the NPP but for the whole country,” he said.

The former president believes that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is focused on forming a government that includes and represents diverse groups or interests.

“He is coming for an inclusive government. His policies will alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians. I have listened to all those talking about their policies, but I haven’t seen anyone with policies as good as Bawumia’s,” Mr Kufour indicated.

The statement from the statemen comes after criticisms due to his endorsement of Dr Bawumia, with critics, including Movement for Change flagbearer Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, urging him to abstain from public endorsements. Detractors argued that Mr. Kufuor’s status as a statesman required neutrality on election

  • Ghana’s first fleet of electric buses rolled out

Ghana’s first fleet of electric buses rolled out

On Wednesday, November 27,Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia inaugurated Ghana’s first fleet of electric buses (EVs).

This initiative stems from Dr. Bawumia’s intentions for reducing transport fares by approximately 40%, aiding commuters nationwide.

The country’s public transportation sector has experienced high fuel costs, inadequate infrastructure, and frequent breakdowns.

The Managing Director of the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MTTL), Albert Adu Boahen, who was speaking at the inauguration, disclosed that his outfit has put in place measures to ensure the electric buses remain in good working condition.

According to him, MTTD stations across the capital will feature auxiliary facilities that to assist in charging the buses.

He noted that the buses would be deployed to provide transportation services along specific routes in Ghana. These routes include, Ashaiman-Accra, Oyibi-Accra and Accra-Amasaman roads.

“This represents a remarkable 40% savings in operational costs, allowing us to reinvest in expanding and enhancing our services. Part of this cost reduction will also be passed on to the public through more affordable fares and reliable service.

“Additionally, electric buses provide a smoother and quieter ride, improving the overall passenger experience. The board and management are aware of the paradigm shift in passenger preference in the emerging segmented market in the road transport industry.

“We know that is our mandate as a company to ensure that the needed system, operational structures and resources are in place for the effective management of these buses,” he stated.

  • Bawumia has our votes because of Free SHS policy – Market women

Bawumia has our votes because of Free SHS policy – Market women

Some traders at the Mallam Atta Market have committed to casting their vote for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December polls.

They explained that nothing can sway them from casting their votes for any other political party except the ruling party.

Justifying their reason in a viral video, they stated that the Akufo-Addo-led government has implemented a lot of beneficial initiatives.

The market women positioned the NPP’s Free SHS program above all the other party’s achievements.

“I will vote for Bawumia because Nana Addo has done well. Free education has paved way for my daughter to be in school. Bawumia and the NPP has tared our roads, this place doesn’t flood again when it rains. We will vote for number 1. My two children have completed school because of free SHS. I will vote for Bawumia,” they stated.

It appears the Free SHS has become a trump card for Dr Bawumia and the NPP to win the 2024 presidential seat.

Recently, The Independent Ghana interacted with some citizens regarding their voting choices come December 7, 2024.

Ghanaian truck driver Asmanu Yaya expressed that he has both enjoyed and continues to benefit from the Free SHS policy, as his four children are beneficiaries.

Two of them, he said are done with school and the others are yet to complete. Not having a formal education, Yaya says he would let the opportunity slip by his children. He will vote for a leader who has helped him lift the financial burden to see his children through school.

“I’ve personally benefited from these policies. I have four children—two have finished school, and two are still attending. Without Free SHS, I might not have been able to afford their education. That’s why I’m voting for the NPP and Dr. Bawumia this year,” Mr Yaya indicated

Food vendor at the Achimota station, Madam Asmawu said she has plans to vote again and for the the NPP because Free SHS has made it possible for families, regardless of their financial status, to send their children to school.

“Free SHS has allowed both rich and poor families to send their children to school, which is a huge benefit. Despite the tough economy, this policy has made a real difference. So I have a reason to vote for them again,” Madam Asmawu stated.

Another citizen by name Richard Osei, expressed his gratitude for the introduction of the Free SHS, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) schools. He noted that these initiatives have improved access to education and enhanced the quality of education.

The Free Senior High School (Free SHS) education policy in Ghana is a government initiative introduced in the 2017 September Presidential administration of Nana Akufo-Addo.

The policy’s origination began as part of the President’s presidential campaign during Ghana’s 2016 election period, and has become an essential part of Ghana’s educational system.

And now, despite the hardship Ghanaians are facing in the country under the NPP, several Ghanaians seem to have no choice than to give the NPP another 4 years.

Riding in pragia to chop 4th instead of being Bawumia’s running mate – Ofosu Nkansah jabs Alan

Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has mocked Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, over his campaign efforts ahead of the December 7 general elections.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, November 27, Ofosu Nkansah ridiculed Kyerematen for choosing to campaign independently instead of accepting a potential role as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He shared a video of Kyerematen riding in a pragia (a three-wheeled motorized tricycle) while soliciting votes, contrasting the scene with the prestige associated with being an NPP vice-presidential candidate.

“When some of us suggested in the early days Chief Alan should partner Dr Bawumia to bring unity, the way some of his people insulted us. But NPP vice is obviously more dignified than riding in pragia to chop 4th,” Ofosu Nkansah wrote.

The NEIP CEO suggested that Kyerematen’s decision to break away from the NPP has diminished his political stature and questioned the effectiveness of his presidential campaign, predicting a fourth-place finish in the elections.

Ghana Trade Fair Convention Centre with 20,000 seats to be completed by 2025 – Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that the state-of-the-art Ghana Trade Fair Convention Centre currently under construction in La, Accra, is expected to be completed by September next year.

Once finished, the Centre will be capable of seating 20,000 people, making it one of the largest in the region.

It is poised to become a landmark venue for conventions, conferences, and entertainment, contributing significantly to the tourism and creative arts sectors.

During a site visit on Monday, November 25, 2024, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the project addresses a long-standing national desire for a convention space of this scale.

He highlighted its importance in advancing the tourism and creative arts industries, which are vital for the country’s economic growth.

“For a very long time, government after government have not been able to execute this particular project. It is a very much-needed project because we believe that some of the key pillars for the growth of this economy lie in tourism and the creative arts,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“But you don’t just become a tourism or creative arts hub by saying so, you must have the necessary infrastructure to support the growth industry. When you look at Ghana today, the largest auditorium that people tend to pay to play in is less than 3000.”

“So if an artiste has to play and the capacity is 3,000 people, they have to charge much higher prices to make up their cost so you tend to see the cost of shows being high and that doesn’t bring up the the demand because the cost is high and therefore they don’t make the requisite revenues or profits for their businesses.”

The Vice President, who is also campaigning for the presidency in next month’s elections, further stated that the development of the new 20,000-seat centre will significantly boost the industry and bring substantial benefits to Ghana.

“Ghana will be in a good position with this sort of exhibition centre which is 20,000 capacity, that is almost 10 times the capacity we have now.”

“That opens a whole new avenue for the creative arts and tourism sector for exhibition and for hosting conventions and conferences, which is a big market for doing so.”

“Ghana is a very attractive destination and we are going to be in a position with the Afcfta also here, there is going to be that synergy with hosting the Afcfta Secretariat here, there is going to be a lot of trade issues and a lot of conferences are going to be held here.”

“We see Ghana as a real centre for many conferences, for many exhibitions and for many creative art shows and so on. We already have the December in Ghana, Beyond the Return and so on. We will see so many opportunities that will help grow this economy and so we are very, very excited.”

Dr. Bawumia, who announced that the project will be completed within eight months, praised the workers for their excellent efforts.

He also expressed confidence that he will return as President in September to officially open the centre.

“I’m very impressed, and I want to thank the contractor, the management and the workers for what you have done. The work is very advanced. You look at this and you see the shelves and all the amenities have been provided; the roads, the fibre, the water, the electricity and so what they are telling us is that in the next 8 months, this project will be completed and we are going to hold them to it.”

“And I’m hoping that by the grace of God, I will come and commission it in September.”

“I want to take this opportunity to reassure the creative arts industry, because I know, talking to you and what we said we were going to do, to build this type of facility, which is one of the biggest problems the creative arts face; the space to actually do shows and bring in people.”

“But I want to assure you that by the grace of God, with the continuation of this project, we should have something for you that is world-class in eight months.”

New Lands Commission office will boost economic development – Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has highlighted the critical role of a well-functioning land administration system in the country’s development.

He stressed that efficient land management is essential for fostering economic growth, social unity, and attracting investment.

During the inauguration of the new Lands Commission Head Office in Accra on Monday, November 25, Dr. Bawumia addressed the challenges the facility aims to overcome, such as the dependence on manual record-keeping, the movement of files between offices, and overcrowded spaces.

Reaffirming his dedication to strengthening the land administration system, Dr. Bawumia outlined three core areas of focus: modern infrastructure, digitalization, and automation of processes.

He noted that the new building demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving land management, ensuring a more efficient, transparent, and customer-oriented system.

“The Commission is heavily dependent on manual records, the movement of files across offices, some of which you have to cross the road to the other side. I remember saying we cannot move forward if we do not tackle these challenges. In my encounter with the media, I expressed the government’s commitment to see to the completion of the new head office complex of the Lands Commission.

“As part of the measures to deal with the challenges the Commission was facing, I’m happy that we have delivered on this promise…That’s why building a robust land administration must be a priority for all. In the last 8 years, the government has been working to build a robust land administration anchored on three pillars-modern office infrastructure, digitalisation, and automation of business processes.

“The completion of this new head office building which is equipped with a state-of-the-art facility is geared towards the first pillar of a robust land administration and demonstrates the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for effective land management.

“This modern facility is not just a structure, it represents a significant step in our collective mission to build a more efficient, transparent and customer-centred land administration system in Ghana.”

Sharing a personal experience, Mr. Essuman recounted, “I remember there was a meeting one time, and I looked around, and everyone in the room was a young person, and this was Dr. Bawumia having this meeting and taking ideas from young people and always wanted to know what they had to say. I have actually been in meetings with the elderly, and I think this meeting I don’t need to speak, and he will call you that Kow, what do you think.”

Forget Mahama; Ghana deserves a leader like Bawumia – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his full trust in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, praising him as a capable and well-prepared leader ready to lead Ghana towards greater success.

The President urged the people of Ghana to unite behind Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign, emphasizing his wealth of experience and his clear vision for the country’s progress.

Speaking to professional groups in Kumasi on Sunday, November 24, Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of the Ashanti Region in securing victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He appealed to the region not to repeat the 2008 scenario, when the NPP lost power, and to fully support Dr. Bawumia in the 2024 elections.

“We have two candidates in this race: one, a failed former president, and the other, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. In Ghana’s history, four individuals have had the privilege to lead as presidents—Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, John Dramani Mahama, and myself. Among us, only John Mahama was denied a second term, and the reason is clear—he performed poorly,” the President remarked.

We will beat NDC with a massive margin in Dec polls – Bawumia

The flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed strong confidence in securing victory in the 2024 elections.

Speaking during a campaign in the Saboba constituency, Bawumia emphasized that his primary focus is not just winning, but achieving a decisive margin of victory.

This optimism follows a recent poll by Professor Smart Sarpong, which shows Bawumia leading the race with 49.1% of the vote.

While campaigning in the Saboba constituency on Saturday, November 23, Bawumia called on Ghanaians to show up in large numbers, ensuring a decisive victory.

“Make no mistake about it. By the grace of God, Insha Allah, we are winning this election. The only issue for me today, if we vote today, is the gap.

Bawumia urged his supporters to come out in full force and help secure an overwhelming win for the NPP.

“How big a gap we are going to give our opponents? I want a big gap. I want all of you to come out because we want to beat them well, well,” he added.

With his focus on mobilizing voters, Bawumia is confident that the NPP will emerge victorious with a substantial margin over its competitors in the December elections.

NDC calls for arrest of Wontumi TV presenter over misinformation

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded the arrest of Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a presenter at Wontumi Radio/TV, accusing him of spreading false information about the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections.

Asiedu misled the public by asserting that the elections, particularly the presidential race, would take place on separate days.

He further claimed that the December 7, 2024, vote would be for the first candidates on the ballot, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who appears first on the ballot.

“Dr. Bawumia is number one on the ballot, so on December 7, we are going to vote for him first. We are going to vote for the first seven people on the ballot, then after that, we will vote for the remaining 7, from numbers 8, 9, 10, and 11 going,” he said in Twi.

Nana Asiedu also implied that voters who do not cast their vote for Dr. Bawumia on Saturday, December 7, 2024, would lose the opportunity to vote for the other candidates on the following days.

“So, on December 7, we are going to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and maybe the next day or two days after, we would vote for the number 2 on the ballot, then we move to number 3, and on a different day, we would vote for number 4. This is going to be the trend.

“Because we are going to vote for the first seven people on the ballot first, that is why we are going to vote on December 7… If you don’t vote when it is Dr. Bawumia’s turn on December 7, you will not get the chance to vote when it gets to the turn of the other people on the ballot. The police and Electoral Commission officers would not give you the chance to vote,” he added.

A member of the NDC communication team, Twum Barima, voiced his surprise and disapproval after hearing Nana Asiedu’s interview on Accra FM.

He argued that the presenter was purposefully spreading false information about the December 7 election and called for his arrest.

“I was at a programme with IGP Dampare and said that what he frowns on the most is misinformation. If he is listening to this or the police administration has heard this, they should go and arrest this idiot,” Twum Barima said.

Bono Region receives 13 motorbikes from fmr NPP organizer for Dec polls

The former Bono Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Konlaabig Rasheed, has donated thirteen motorbikes to the twelve constituencies in the region, in preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections.

The motorbikes were distributed through the party’s constituency chairmen to ensure they are well-equipped ahead of the polls, which are just a few weeks away.

Rasheed explained that this donation is part of his continued support for the NPP and its “Bold Solutions” agenda, aimed at ensuring the party’s victory in the 2024 elections.

“This is a personal donation aimed at resourcing the party at the base to ensure that the agenda of winning more seats in the region is not a mirage. I am equally doing this to ensure that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is voted for to implement the laudable policies he has for Ghana,” he stated.

He urged party members to set aside differences and unite to achieve a decisive victory on December 7, 2024.

Chairman Kwame Owusu of Dormaa West, speaking on behalf of the constituency chairmen, expressed gratitude for Rasheed’s donation.

He assured that the motorbikes would be used effectively and pledged to work towards securing victory for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and their parliamentary candidates.

Claims that I attacked NPP, Bawumia, a complete fabrication – Kadehene

Chief of Kade in the Eastern Region, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II, has dismissed media reports alleging that he used a political platform to criticize the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a press release, the Kadehene clarified that a report by Peace FM, which alleged he participated in a campaign event organized by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, to attack the NPP and its flagbearer, was false.

He emphasized that he did not attend the event in question.

“The attention of the Kade Stool has been drawn to a false report aired by Peace FM regarding the NDC rally held in Kade, Eastern Region, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The report from Peace FM incorrectly claimed that I, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II, the Kadehene, took the stage at the rally to criticize the NPP government and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. This accusation is entirely unfounded and completely false.

“I wish to categorically state that I did not attend the said event, let alone make any statements regarding the NPP or its flagbearer. As a custodian of the Kade Stool and a certified professional Mediator Arbitrator, I am guided by the principles of neutrality, respect, and responsibility. I have always upheld the dignity of the stool and would never stoop so low as to engage in partisan propaganda or make statements that would tarnish the reputation of the office I occupy,” the statement said.

Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II urged the public to ignore the false report and also called on the media outlet to issue a formal retraction and apology, emphasizing the importance of upholding professional journalism standards based on fairness and accuracy.

Bawumia pledges tablets for students and laptops for teachers

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasized the “remarkable progress achieved” under his party’s leadership, contrasting it with the tenure of former President John Mahama.

Addressing supporters in the Northern Region on November 21, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP government’s initiative of providing computers to schoolchildren as an example of innovation and advancement, contrasting it with the shortage of chalk that schools experienced during Mahama’s administration.

He urged voters to view the 2024 election as a critical decision between stagnation and meaningful progress, presenting the NPP as the party with a bold and forward-looking vision for Ghana’s future.

Additionally, highlighting his credentials as a contender, Dr. Bawumia said: “This election is about who can deliver the transformation Ghana needs, and I am confident that I am the better choice for the future of our country.”

“In his time, there was no chalk in schools. We are buying tablets for school children. Every child will get one. No one will be left out. We are even buying laptops for teachers. We are buying it for teachers from Kindergarten to SHS,” a report by citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said.

As part of his nationwide outreach efforts, Dr. Bawumia started making strategic trips to constituencies he had yet to visit on Thursday. Several seats were left on the NPP flagbearer’s list for this campaign cycle despite the fact that he has already visited all sixteen regions.

On his journey, Dr. Bawumia visited Tamale South, Kumbungu, and Tolon. Habib Iddrisu, an NPP MP, represents Tolon out of the three constituencies.

From a parliamentary performance of 15.2% in 2016 to 40.8% in 2020, the NPP has made notable strides in Kumbungu. Haruna Iddrisu’s Tamale South constituency is still firmly under NDC control.

During his trip, Dr. Bawumia also dedicated a mosque in the constituency of Tolon.

Bawumia stands tall for being the most effective Vice President – NPP Communicator

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s tenure as Vice-President has been lauded as the most effective in Ghana’s Fourth Republic by a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team, Fredrick Kofi Ameyaw.

Speaking on TV3 on Wednesday, November 20, Mr. Ameyaw highlighted Bawumia’s achievements, describing them as unmatched in the nation’s history. He asserted that the Vice-President’s performance demonstrates his readiness to excel as President.

“The fact is that when we want the most effective Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stands tall. Dr. Bawumia made it possible for the Ghana Card to be used for international travel. Dr. Bawumia made it possible for every Ghanaian to be able to have a bank account through mobile money interoperability, which the NDC said he was lying about, but now it has been achieved,” Ameyaw stated.

He commended Dr. Bawumia for spearheading critical policy initiatives and reforms in digitalisation, financial inclusion, and economic management, emphasizing their tangible benefits to Ghanaians.

According to Ameyaw, Bawumia’s pragmatic approach to solving national challenges and his innovative contributions have brought efficiency to governance, solidifying his position as the ideal candidate to lead Ghana into a brighter future.

“Bawumia’s accomplishments go beyond rhetoric,” Ameyaw noted. “His leadership has brought innovation and efficiency to governance, which positions him as the ideal candidate to take Ghana to greater heights as President.”

Ameyaw concluded by urging Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections, expressing confidence that his proven track record as Vice-President is a strong indicator of the visionary leadership he would bring to the presidency.

  • What good did you do as president? – Bawumia to Mahama

What good did you do as president? – Bawumia to Mahama

The Vice President and NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has raised questions about former President Mahama’s desire to return to the presidency.

He pointed out that Mahama was ousted in 2016 due to his inability to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.

Mahama, who assumed the presidency after the death of President Atta Mills, was elected in 2012.

However, his time in office was marred by numerous challenges, particularly the ongoing energy crisis, also known as “dumsor,” which dominated his administration. This failure ultimately led to his defeat in the 2016 elections.

Speaking to a large crowd in Adugyama, Ahafo Ano South East, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that Mahama’s poor track record should give Ghanaians pause about his return. He pointed out that, despite being given the chance to lead, Mahama was unable to effectively manage the country’s affairs.

“He was given the opportunity to be President and he could not perform. He was removed for non-performance and the NPP, which took over, has done better in every field,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“He could not even provide chalk. He left us in an energy crisis or dumsor for 4 years. He cancelled teacher and nursing training allowances. He collapsed ambulance service and collapsed the NHIS,” Dr. Bawumia recalled, highlighting the failures of the Mahama regime.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted several key failures of Mahama’s presidency, including his inability to provide basic supplies like chalk, the persistent energy crisis, and the cancellation of teacher and nursing training allowances.

He also mentioned the collapse of the ambulance service and NHIS under Mahama’s leadership.

“That is why in the 2016 election, he was removed for non-performance. And now he says he wants to come back.”

“The question is, what is he coming to do? Is it the dumsor Mahama wants to bring back or the runaway guinea fowls? What great thing did he do that he wants to come back?” Dr. Bawumia asked.

In contrast, Dr. Bawumia pointed to the NPP’s achievements, claiming they have significantly outperformed Mahama’s government in terms of job creation, agricultural development, and infrastructure projects.

He emphasized that the NPP has built more roads, factories, airports, schools, hospitals, and other key facilities than Mahama’s administration did.

“We have created more jobs than you. Improved agriculture and industry more than you. We have built factories, roads and railways more than you. We have built more airports than you, interchanges than you, more hospitals than you, schools more than you, sanitation facilities more than you, astro turfs more than you.”

Alan will have issues with Kufuor approving Bawumia because he wanted to overtake him – Ofosu Nkansah

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has responded to Alan Kyerematen’s criticism of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Alan Kyerematen, flagbearer of the Movement for Change, recently criticised Kufuor for publicly supporting Dr. Bawumia ahead of the 2024 general elections, describing the endorsement as a decision that tarnishes the former president’s political legacy.

According to Mr. Kyerematen, Kufuor’s open backing of Bawumia had left a “big blot” on his career, given his revered status in Ghanaian politics.

Reacting to these comments in a Facebook post on Monday, November 18, Mr. Ofosu Nkansah dismissed Kyerematen’s assertions, suggesting that the former Trade Minister’s frustrations stem from his inability to match the political influence of both Kufuor and Bawumia.

“Someone (Alan Kyerematen) who thought he should have come before John Agyekum Kufuor would obviously have issues with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia overtaking him,” Mr. Ofosu Nkansah wrote.

He further argued that Kyerematen should focus on addressing substantive political matters rather than targeting individuals in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Endorsing Bawumia has tarnished Kufuor’s image – Alan

Alan Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, has criticized former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, as detrimental to Kufuor’s legacy.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV with Kwasi Parker-Wilson on Monday, November 18, Kyerematen stated that the endorsement has tarnished the respected statesman’s reputation and exposed him to public criticism and insults.

“Kufuor is my uncle and an elderly person, and I don’t want to say something publicly against him. But what he has done has created a big blot on his political career. Do you realise how people have started making derogatory comments about him? Don’t you hear the insults? Look at the kind of people insulting him,” Kyerematen remarked.

“He’s very respected in Ghana, so why would he now be engaging in politics of this nature? He’s my uncle and his actions are bad, he’s treading on dangerous ground, and he has to stop. He knows what he’s doing,” he added.

Kyerematen’s remarks follow Kufuor’s call on Ghanaians to support Dr. Bawumia in the 2024 elections during an interview with journalists on Sunday, November 17.

“Given the current global circumstances, I firmly believe that Ghana’s economy will experience significant improvement if Bawumia is elected as President. With divine guidance, he is capable of delivering on this promise, and I encourage you to support his candidacy,” Kufuor said.

The former president also highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s contributions during his tenure, stating, “I have observed his remarkable abilities in economic enhancement during my tenure, as he was integral to the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr. Paul Acquah, contributing to the revival of the currency.”

Kyerematen, who left the NPP to establish the Movement for Change, has positioned himself as an alternative to the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), presenting a vision distinct from the two dominant political parties.

Stop referring to yourself as a driver’s mate – Alan’s running mate tells Bawumia

Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso, the running mate for John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for likening his role to that of a “driver’s mate.”

Speaking on Showbiz A-Z with Joy FM’s Kwame Dadzie, the musician-turned-politician argued that the Vice President’s role is far from ceremonial, emphasizing its importance in governance.

“Why does the constitution say that we must have a Vice President? Of course, the Vice President plays a very pivotal role. And I will explain to you why. The Vice President is also voted for, people don’t know. Because you are on the same ticket with the President,” he said.

According to Owusu Danso, many voters consider the running mate when casting their ballot, making the Vice President integral to the government. He added that the Vice President cannot shirk responsibility when the government faces challenges.

“When you look at the constitution, in the absence of the President, the Vice President is the person who acts in his stead. So the Vice President cannot extricate himself from the operations of government. So you have a role to play,” he stated.

Drawing comparisons to Dr. Bawumia’s tenure as Vice President and his leadership of the Economic Management Team, Owusu Danso questioned his approach to accountability.

“If you say that you are the driver’s mate and that gives you some level of comfort because you are going into an election, I find that to be very disingenuous and disrespectful to the Ghanaian people because we know exactly who you are. You are taking all the praise for what you describe as digitalisation but you are not taking criticism for the failure of the economy. I think that is double standards. So the driver’s mate is as important as the driver,” he remarked.

Dr. Bawumia had previously described his role as Vice President as akin to a “driver’s mate” while addressing Ghanaians in Accra on February 7, 2024. He expressed optimism about his ability to make greater impact if elected President.

“As Vice-President, I am like a driver’s mate. But if, by the Grace of God, you make me President, I will be in the driver’s seat with constitutionally mandated authority to pursue my vision and my priorities,” Dr. Bawumia said.

He added, “Clearly, the initial conditions that we inherited in 2017 are not the same as will be in 2025. Therefore, my priorities will be different. We have done many good things and I will be seeking to build on them.”

Owusu Danso, also a lawyer, broadcaster, and PR consultant, pledged to resign as Vice President if the Movement for Change government fails to deliver on its promises. He believes Alan Kyerematen has the solutions to Ghana’s pressing challenges and is confident in his ability to transform the lives of Ghanaians if elected.

Prophecies are predictions, not reality – Bawumia’s campaign team

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team has made it clear that they will not be influenced by prophecies regarding the outcome of the December 7 general elections.

This comes after several pastors, during a recent meeting with National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, claimed he would win the 2024 elections.

In an interview with Citi News, Anthony Karbo, a senior aide to Dr. Bawumia, dismissed these claims, stating that they regard such statements as mere predictions rather than divine revelations.

Karbo further emphasized that the campaign is focused on its strategic plans and voter engagement, rather than being swayed by external commentary.

He also referred to the 2020 U.S. elections, pointing out how several prophets predicted Kamala Harris’s victory but were proven wrong, questioning the reliability of such prophecies.

“I find those prophecies to be predictions. I don’t understand why prophecies are prevalent in Africa. I don’t understand it. Nobody talks about prophecies in other jurisdictions like China, America, Germany, and London. Those prophecies are only in Africa.

“We saw and heard prophets who said Kamala Harris was going to win, and what happened? What would have happened if we chose to believe in them? What would have happened because people said there was no way Donald Trump would ever be president?”

Bawumia’s plan to upskill 5,000 youth in Kwadaso through digital training

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has revealed an ambitious plan to empower one million young people with digital skills, beginning with 5,000 youth from Kwadaso Constituency.

This initiative, which aims to bridge the digital skills gap, was announced at a constituency connect event held in Kwadaso.

At the event, Dr. Bawumia outlined how the initiative would provide training in skills such as coding, enabling participants to work remotely for global companies.

He highlighted the importance of equipping the youth with relevant digital skills in a world that is rapidly moving towards technology-driven opportunities.

“The youth need skills. We’ve introduced technical and vocational training, but they also need digital skills, as the world has shifted to digital.

He stressed that digital skills are not limited to those with formal education, making the program accessible even for school dropouts.

Bawumia emphasized that young people in Kwadaso could start working for companies in countries such as the US, Canada, and Singapore, all from their local communities.

“From right here in Kwadaso, one can work for companies in the US, Canada, and Singapore. Even school dropouts can be trained.

“My goal is to have at least one million people trained in digital skills, starting with five thousand youth from Kwadaso Constituency. This way, they can stay here and still work internationally”

The initiative is set to kick off in Kwadaso, with plans to expand and train one million youth across the country.

Dr. Bawumia described the policy as a game changer that would open up global employment opportunities for the youth, fostering economic growth and self-sufficiency.

As the global economy continues to embrace digital transformation, Dr. Bawumia’s vision is to ensure that Ghana’s youth are well-equipped to take advantage of the expanding digital job market, both locally and internationally.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged Ghanaians to give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a chance in the upcoming election, describing him as the best candidate to lead the country through its current challenges.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Kufuor praised Bawumia’s capabilities and expressed unwavering confidence in his leadership.

“I was attacked for calling Bawumia ‘a Man of Destiny,’ but I know why I said that. I think he’s the best man Ghana needs at this moment in our history. Ghanaians should give Bawumia a chance,” Kufuor stated.

The former president emphasized Bawumia’s vision and expertise, highlighting his deep understanding of Ghana’s economic landscape and innovative approach to governance.

According to Kufuor, Bawumia’s leadership would be invaluable in advancing Ghana’s development and addressing complex economic issues.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has underscored the structure of Ghana’s executive presidency, stating that the Vice President is merely an advisor to the President, who alone wields decision-making power.

According to Mr. Kufuor, the President embodies the government, and all others, including the Vice President, serve in advisory roles.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, he remarked, “I have been President before; in Ghana, the government is the President. Ours is an executive presidency. All other persons in government are only advisors including the Vice President.”

His comments come amid recent statements from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who, as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, urged Ghanaians to vote him into the presidency, explaining that his ability to implement transformative policies has been limited as Vice President.

Mr. Kufuor’s remarks emphasize that executive power in Ghana resides solely with the President, limiting the Vice President’s role to offering counsel.

The former president also addressed criticisms directed at Dr. Bawumia for Ghana’s current economic challenges, noting that the Vice President’s advisory position does not equip him with the authority to enact policy. Kufuor reiterated that true power lies with the President, who alone can initiate substantial reforms to advance the country.

Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has dismissed allegations that his presidency would allow herdsmen to damage farmlands.

He termed the claims as mere propaganda spread by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), aimed at inciting fear by suggesting his leadership would bring lawlessness among the Fulani, who are his in-laws.

Addressing constituents in Ejura Sekyedumase on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Dr. Bawumia reassured them that under his leadership, the laws of the land would be enforced fairly and without bias.

He further assured the public that the law would apply to everyone equally.

“Now the NDC is running propaganda that my reign will permit Fulanis to destroy the farmlands, but that will never happen, it’s all propaganda we will never allow it to happen.

“The law will deal with each and everybody. So please don’t listen to such propaganda that we will allow the Fulani to destroy your farmlands.”

Dr. Bawumia concluded his address by promising the people of Ejura Sekyedumase that his leadership would bring meaningful development.

“They will be arrested if they are caught. We are bringing Development with benefits to the town. Give me the Power and you will testify to that.”

Divine guidance is key to Ghana’s progress and unity – Bawumia

Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his strong belief in God’s guidance, emphasizing that all things are possible through divine intervention.

Speaking to a Catholic congregation in Atimatim, Afigya Kwabre East Constituency, during his ongoing campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia shared that his slogan, “It is possible,” was rooted in his unwavering faith.

He told the congregation, “With God, all things are possible,” highlighting his deep trust in God’s role in shaping his journey to the presidency.

Reflecting on his political journey, Dr. Bawumia noted that his candidacy for President was divinely ordained, starting from his election as the NPP’s presidential candidate.

He cited Psalm 127, stating, “Unless the Lord builds the house, you labour in vain,”

The congregation applauded his mention of a Christian verse, which was especially notable given that Dr. Bawumia is Muslim.

His reference to the Bible resonated with the congregation, illustrating the unity and respect between Ghana’s two major religions.

Dr. Bawumia’s visit also served as a symbol of religious harmony, as the event saw both Muslim and Christian leaders, including Imams, Zongo Chiefs, and traditional rulers, gathered in one place.

The leaders expressed their delight at the peaceful coexistence of different faiths in Ghana, noting the rare and remarkable sight of Imams attending a Catholic service.

Praising the unity on display, Dr. Bawumia said, “There is peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians in Ghana, and it is one of the reasons we have peace,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“It is so beautiful to see Imams here in this chapel. This reflects our mutual understanding and respect for each other. You will hardly see this anywhere in the world, but this is happening in Ghana.”

“Let us continue to live in harmony and respect one another”.

The fleet of electric buses that were promised by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially arrived in the country.

The new buses, designed by top electric vehicle manufacturers, are equipped with advanced technology to provide efficient, safe, and comfortable rides. Initially, they will operate in major urban centers like Accra and Kumasi, where pollution from traditional, fossil-fuel vehicles is most severe.

By reducing emissions in these high-density areas, the initiative is expected to enhance the quality of life for city residents and support Ghana’s commitment to combatting climate change.

Government officials have expressed optimism that these electric buses will offer Ghanaians a cleaner, more reliable mode of transportation. To support this transition, plans are underway to establish charging stations across the country, creating the necessary infrastructure to sustain an electric public transport system and further promote green energy solutions.

The project is anticipated to have a wider impact by encouraging private transport operators to consider eco-friendly alternatives, potentially reshaping Ghana’s entire transport sector.

Bawumia launches Telehealth to make healthcare accessible across Ghana

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to adopt the new digital health initiatives launched in the country.

At the commissioning of e-pharmacy and telehealth services in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, on Monday, November 11, he emphasized the transformative potential of these services in enhancing healthcare delivery.

The Vice President explained that the Telehealth initiative would allow Ghanaians to access medical consultations, diagnoses, prescriptions, and specialist care virtually.

He pointed out that the service brings healthcare directly to communities, especially those in remote areas, where access to quality medical care can be limited.

Dr. Bawumia further stressed that the telehealth platform would not only reduce the time and cost of seeking healthcare but also offer access to international medical expertise, opening up new opportunities for Ghanaians to benefit from global health services.

Encouraging the public to embrace these services, he expressed confidence that they would improve healthcare accessibility and the overall experience for all citizens across the nation.

“The Telehealth initiative will enhance remote access to health services. With access to your vitals and records, diagnoses, prescriptions, and specialist care can be rendered.

“The Telehealth initiative will save time, money, and resources. One can access international telehealth services as well; thus, it is not limited to Ghana only,” he stated.

Every Ghanaian will have equal opportunities under my husband’s leadership – Samira Bawumia

Wife of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Samira Bawumia, has pledged that under her husband’s leadership, marginalized communities will receive equal treatment, highlighting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to an inclusive Ghana ahead of the 2024 elections.

During the 12th Annual Conference of the Ghana Chapter of Tabital Pulaaku International in Ho, she reassured the Fulani community that they would be prioritized under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership. She affirmed that the government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has always prioritized inclusivity.

The three-day event, centered on the theme “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Fulbe Cultural Heritage,” brought together many members of the Fulani tribe, a group Mrs. Bawumia described as integral to Ghana’s social, cultural, and economic landscape. As a member of the Fulani community, she emphasized the significant role they play, particularly in agriculture, trade, and cultural diversity.

“the Fulani community has a unique place in Ghana, and our contributions to agriculture, trade, and cultural diversity are invaluable.

She further assured that under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, policies would continue to address the specific challenges faced by minority groups like the Fulani. Dr. Bawumia, in particular, she noted, has been a key advocate for social equity, especially in ensuring quality education for all.

“It is essential that we recognise and celebrate this heritage as part of our national identity. Under the leadership of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party has continually prioritised inclusivity, ensuring that every Ghanaian, regardless of their background, feels valued and represented. A nation is developed when all its voices are heard, and all its people are allowed to thrive.

She said: “Under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, we have implemented policies that promote the rights and recognition of minority groups, including the Fulani community.

“Our government recognises the unique challenges faced by minority tribes and is committed to addressing these issues through carefully thought-through policies. We continue to engage with various stakeholders to ensure that the concerns of the Fulanis and other minority groups are integrated into national development plans.

“One of our most ardent advocates for inclusivity is my Dear husband, Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Dr. Bawumia has been at the forefront of implementing policies that not only focus on economic growth but also prioritise social equity.

“Dr Bawumia strongly believes that knowledge is the only way to empower people. We want our children, including Fulani children, to have access to quality education that will equip them for the future,” she stated.

Mrs. Bawumia also highlighted the government’s ongoing support for women, particularly through initiatives to provide capital for women entrepreneurs.

Looking ahead, she expressed the NPP’s vision of a future where every ethnic group, including the Fulani, is acknowledged and celebrated for its contributions to national development.

She said: “As we look ahead, our vision is clear. We aim to foster a Ghana where every ethnic group, including the Fulani community, has a seat at the table—a Ghana where diversity is celebrated and not used as a tool for division.

The conference, which attracted thousands of participants, also featured cultural performances.

Key political leaders and community stakeholders attended, and Fulani leaders made requests for more inclusive policies, particularly in education and skills training.

DDEP: Thank you for your sacrifice – Bawumia thanks bondholders

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaian bondholders, citizens, and other stakeholders for their sacrifices in supporting the government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP).

Speaking at the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala at the Movenpick Hotel on Thursday, November 7, Dr. Bawumia commended the business community and bondholders for their pivotal role in advancing the country’s economic recovery.

“I would like to take this opportunity to show gratitude to the Ghanaian people, especially the business community and the bondholders, for the sacrifices you all made in supporting government’s efforts to restructure our debts and safeguard the economy,” he remarked.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the impact of the debt restructuring initiative, which he said has helped stabilize Ghana’s economy amid significant challenges. He shared an optimistic outlook, noting that the restructuring efforts are laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth.

“The good news is that Ghana’s economy is on the path to recovery,” he added, underscoring the importance of collective action in building resilience.

The NPP flagbearer expressed confidence in the nation’s economic future, noting that continued cooperation among sectors would ensure Ghana emerges stronger and more resilient. The DDEP, which closed on February 10, 2023, saw over 80% participation of eligible bonds and is designed to protect the economy and bolster the country’s debt-servicing capabilities.

I mean business – Bawumia tells electorates

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured Ghanaians of his dedication to fostering business development, affirming that “Bawumia means business.”

Speaking at the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala at the Movenpick Hotel on Thursday, 7 November, Bawumia highlighted his commitment to building a thriving economy driven by resilient businesses.

Bawumia emphasized that successful national economies are built on strong business foundations, which are essential for job creation, innovation, and sustainable development. He pointed out that a robust business environment is crucial for addressing Ghana’s economic challenges and achieving lasting prosperity.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as you may all be aware, Bawumia means business! From being a banker to Vice President to Presidential candidate of the NPP, my commitment to business development has been consistent,” he said.

“The reason is simple. When businesses do well, the economy does well, and vice versa. Show me a buoyant national economy in any part of the world, and I’ll show you strong and resilient businesses behind it,” Bawumia added.

The NPP flagbearer also outlined the steps his administration has taken to support businesses, including policies aimed at boosting entrepreneurship, expanding access to credit, and advancing digitalisation. These efforts, he noted, are intended to bolster the resilience and competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses.

He closed his remarks by pledging that, if elected president, he would continue prioritizing business growth to ensure Ghana’s private sector remains dynamic, innovative, and competitive on the global stage.

  • Bawumia jabs Mahama for ‘worst economic performance’ amid economic distress

Bawumia jabs Mahama for ‘worst economic performance’ amid economic distress

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has sharply criticized former President John Dramani Mahama’s economic record, labeling it as the weakest among the Fourth Republic’s leaders.

Speaking at the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala held at the Movenpick Hotel on Thursday, November 7, Dr. Bawumia insisted that his assessment was based on economic data rather than partisan bias.

He highlighted that under Mahama’s administration, Ghana faced considerable economic setbacks, including high inflation, sluggish growth, and increasing unemployment—issues he believes set the nation on a vulnerable path.

Dr. Bawumia noted that these indicators starkly contrast with the economic gains made under the NPP, pointing to what he considers a decisive shortfall in Mahama’s economic governance. He underscored the importance of accountable leadership and sound economic management, urging attendees to examine the measurable impacts of Mahama’s policies.

“It is important to note that notwithstanding the impact of the global economic crisis on our economy, it may come as a shock to some (including the former president himself) that when it comes to the 4th Republic, Former President Mahama has the worst economic performance of all Presidents in the Fourth Republic,” he stated. “However, he seems not to understand that and continues to talk about our economic performance as if his was better.”

Dr. Bawumia made the comment at a time when Ghana is facing economic difficulties, including high inflation, public debt, and rising costs of food and transportation—issues some Ghanaians attribute to the current government.

Nevertheless, the Vice President has expressed confidence in his ability to address these challenges should he assume the presidency, pledging to continue building on the economic progress made by the Akufo-Addo administration.

Bawumia unveils myCreditScore to bolster financial inclusion in Ghana

Vice-President and NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has unveiled myCreditScore, an innovative credit reference and scoring system that allows Ghanaians to demonstrate their creditworthiness in a transparent manner, improving their access to credit.

Supported by the Bank of Ghana, the system aims to provide financial institutions with a trustworthy assessment of individuals’ credit profiles, making borrowing easier and rewarding responsible financial practices.

During the launch event in Accra on Thursday, November 7, 2024, Dr. Bawumia called the introduction of myCreditScore a “historic step” toward achieving a more inclusive financial system in the country.

“It is a significant milestone in Ghana’s journey towards a financially inclusive and empowered society,” he stated, emphasising that this new system opens “yet another chapter in the nation’s ambitious journey towards financial inclusion.”

The personalized credit scoring system will give higher scores to individuals who show good credit behavior, ultimately providing them with improved access to larger loans from financial institutions.

This strategy is designed to encourage financial responsibility and reduce obstacles to credit for Ghanaians nationwide.

Dr. Bawumia, the driving force behind the project, emphasized that myCreditScore is a crucial solution to longstanding issues in the lending sector.

He pointed out that the lack of a dependable credit information system has historically increased lending risks, causing financial institutions to offer limited credit at high-interest rates to protect against potential defaults.

Dr. explained: “The absence of a credit information system has increased lending risks, leading financial institutions to offer less credit. A credit reporting system in Ghana will provide timely, accurate, and up-to-date information on debt profiles and borrowers’ repayment history, yielding numerous benefits.”

By enabling banks and lenders to accurately assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, the new system is expected to reduce lending rates over time, creating a more dynamic credit economy for all Ghanaians.

Dr Bawumia described myCreditScore as “a step forward in building a dynamic credit economy for Ghana and all Ghanaians,” affirming its potential to create a financially empowered society.

I’m committed to building an Airport City to drive regional growth – Bawumia

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has outlined plans to establish an “Airport City” in Manhyia North, Ashanti Region, if he is elected as the next president of Ghana.

His vision, inspired by the Airport City project in Accra, aims to bring significant economic and infrastructural growth to the Kumasi area.

During the third day of his tour in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia highlighted his experience in managing airport projects, including those in Kumasi and Tamale, as a foundation for his ability to deliver on this ambitious plan.

He also recalled his role in securing support from the UK government for the development of these airports, which he believes will play a pivotal role in the success of the proposed Manhyia North development.

The “Airport City” in Manhyia North, according to Dr. Bawumia, will be a catalyst for economic transformation, offering new business opportunities, job creation, and improved infrastructure, much like the effects seen in Accra.

Appealing to the electorate, Dr. Bawumia called for their support, promising a presidency focused on regional development, accountability, and ensuring the Ashanti Region benefits from this transformative project.

“If you vote for me, by the grace of God, I can serve as president for eight years and will come back here to give you an account of my work,” he assured.

Encouraging his supporters to rally behind him, Dr. Bawumia asked, “Promote me and let me be the president. Give me the steer and let me drive.”

Help me retrieve my GHS12k locked in the bank – 108-year-old woman cries to Bawumia

A 108-year-old resident of Kwahu Aduamoa, Madam Akua Asiedua, is seeking assistance from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong to recover over GH¢12,000 in savings trapped in a defunct financial institution.

She explained that her grandchildren have been forced to drop out of school due to the financial difficulties, and despite her age, she is determined to ensure a better future for them.

“Dr. Bawumia, and Bryan, I come to you for help through this video. It’s been six years since my money was locked up in the bank that collapsed. I have tried repeatedly to get my money back but have been unsuccessful. Because of this, some of my grandchildren have had to stop schooling. I have no means to fund their education, so I plead with you to help me retrieve my money. I have no one to support me. Now, at my advanced age, I know my time is short, but I don’t want my grandchildren to live a miserable life after I am gone. Please, help me recover the money that has been locked up for so many years,” the centenarian pleaded in a video shared on social media platform X.

In 2019, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) carried out a financial sector clean-up, revoking the licenses of 347 microfinance companies, 23 savings and loans and finance companies, and 16 universal banks.

This process resulted in a more streamlined and sustainable banking sector. The BoG estimated the total cost of the clean-up at GH¢10.98 billion ($2.1 billion), which accounted for slightly over 3% of the country’s GDP.

  • December polls is between NPP and Ghanaians – Mahama

December polls is between NPP and Ghanaians – Mahama

Former President John Mahama has urged Ghanaians to decisively vote against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections next month.

During a rally in the Tamale Central Constituency as part of his campaign tour of the Northern Region, the NDC Flagbearer emphasized that the December election represents a critical choice for all Ghanaians, framing it as a contest not just between the NDC and NPP, but between the people of Ghana and the NPP government.

“When we look at the results, in Tamale Central we got 60.8%. This year, we have to raise that percentage to above 75 to 80 percent because this election is between the whole of Ghana and the NPP; it’s not between NDC and NPP,” he said.

Mr. Mahama addressed a rally in the Tamale Central Constituency during the second phase of his campaign tour of the Northern Region on Saturday, where he criticized the government led by Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia for the significant hardships faced by Ghanaians, stating that life has become unbearable under their leadership.

He further asserted that the conditions in Ghana were more favorable during his administration.

“The country that I handed over to Nana Akufo-Addo and Bawumia on 7th January 2017, that is not the same Ghana we’re living in. I can beat my chest and say that our lives were far better under the NDC administration than they are today. Today everybody is going through hardship,” he noted.

“They came with very sweet words and convinced Ghanaians that they were going to be a better government. Today, everything has gone backwards; the quality of our education is a problem, the quality of healthcare is a problem. Today, if you don’t have money, you’ll die because if you go to the hospital without money, you’ll die,” he added.

Former President John Mahama concluded his Northern Regional tour on Saturday, where he visited several constituencies, including Tolon, Sagnarigu, Nanton, Tamale North, Tamale Central, and Tamale South.

During his visit, the NDC Flagbearer committed to initiating significant projects, such as the completion of the Tamale Water Expansion Project and the construction of a bridge over the White Volta River at Daboya, which will connect the Tolon District to the Savannah Region, among other initiatives.

Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has affirmed his commitment to independent leadership as he gears up for the 2024 general elections.

Addressing the public, Dr. Bawumia assured Ghanaians that his administration would be free from external influences, directly dismissing speculations that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo might control his leadership if he is elected.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized his readiness to govern with a clear vision and priorities focused on advancing Ghana. “I have my vision and priority. Given the opportunity by you, the people of Ghana to lead, I shall govern as my own man with guidance from God Almighty,” he stated, underscoring that his decisions would be solely his own, directed by what he deems best for the country.

During an engagement with the youth in Accra on November 3, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for Ghana’s future, centred on modernization and economic growth.

He described his goal to build a data-driven, technologically advanced nation that would leverage digital tools to create jobs and strengthen the economy.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has spotlighted the Akufo-Addo administration’s success in job creation, asserting it has surpassed previous governments.

Referencing Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) data and additional sources, Dr. Bawumia reported that around 2.6 million jobs have been generated, with 1.4 million positions in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector.

He underscored that these figures represent the government’s dedication to bolstering Ghana’s economy and providing more opportunities for citizens.

Dr. Bawumia also acknowledged the current economic challenges, but he reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to continued job creation efforts if elected in December.

“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years, indeed so far, as of yesterday or a day before…I checked the data from SSNIT and other sources and so far, between 2017 and 2024, the latest data is that we have created 2.6 million jobs.

“1.4 in the private sector and 1.2 in the public sector. This is the highest of any government in the 4th Republic and the highest job creation. We have more to do because we still have high unemployment. Our youth still need jobs,” Bawumia said during his Engagement with the Youth in Accra on Sunday, November 3.

Akufo-Addo might have to take the steer since Bawumia can’t campaign – Joyce Bawah

Campaign Spokesperson and Special Aide for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has suggested that President Akufo-Addo may need to take control of the campaign as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia struggles to effectively advocate for his candidacy.

In a recent Facebook post dated October 30, Mogtari asserted that the President is attempting to evade accountability for his administration’s actions, indicating a reluctance to face scrutiny for his government’s policies and decisions.

“Obviously, Akufo-Addo desperately needs a third term, and it is obvious his side guy no dey fit campaign or answer the questions, abi you know, so Orga take the steer back,” she posted.

Mogtari’s comments highlight what she perceives as a calculated effort by President Akufo-Addo to position himself favourably while supporting the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia. She argues that this vigorous campaigning is a strategy to distance himself from the criticisms directed at his leadership and to secure a continuation of his party’s rule through Bawumia.

Mr. Mahama’s spokesperson contended that the President’s actions reflect a deep-seated desire to escape the consequences of his administration’s governance, which has faced various challenges, including economic difficulties. By backing Dr. Bawumia, Mogtari believes that Akufo-Addo is trying to ensure that the legacy of his policies is perpetuated without facing the repercussions that may arise from a change in leadership.

Dr. Bawumia has called on Ghanaians to hand over the steer of affairs to him from his boss, Nana Akufo-Addo since he currently cannot take any decisive action in his role as Vice President. He argues that he can carry out his plans for the country if elected president in the upcoming polls.

Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his condolences following the passing of Akua Donkor, the Ghana Freedom Party’s (GFP) candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on Facebook, Dr. Bawumia recognised Madam Donkor’s role in advancing democracy in Ghana. He also conveyed his sympathies to her family and the GFP during this difficult time.

“I write to commiserate with the family and political party of Madam Akua Donkor, who until her death was the 2024 presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party.

    Bawumia mourns Akua Donkor

She played her part in consolidating our democracy. May the soul of Madam Akua Donkor rest in peace,” he mourned.

Akua Donkor was among the 13 candidates approved by the Electoral Commission (EC) to participate in the presidential elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.

She sadly passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, after a brief illness.

In response to her death, the EC has halted the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming presidential election and has provided the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) with a 10-day deadline to nominate a new candidate.

  • Your questions are a distraction – Mahama replies Bawumia

Your questions are a distraction – Mahama replies Bawumia

Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has reacted to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 50 questions.

Mahama stressed that the primary focus of the 2024 elections must be the condition of the Ghanaian economy, rather than the questions posed by Bawumia.

While addressing supporters at a rally in the Savelugu constituency during his campaign tour on Wednesday, Mahama urged the Vice President to address his five questions directly instead of dodging them.

“In 1992, there was an election in America, it was between Bill Clinton and George Bush Senior, at that time, the American economy was in recession, like the way the Ghanaian economy is in crisis today and people were talking about immigration, talking about all kinds of useless things.

“Do you know what the Clinton people said? ‘It is about the economy, stupid.’ Today, I’m repeating those words, this election is about the economy, stupid. It is not about all those other useless things about who built how many compost plants. Answer the five simple questions,” he challenged the NPP Flagbearer.

Mahama said Dr Bawumia’s questions looked like “he has just learnt those things in the 50 questions the way we used to learn ‘blah blah black sheep’, ‘Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall’”.

He pointed out that he had posed specific questions to the Vice President regarding the economy, but instead received irrelevant inquiries in response.

“I asked you five simple questions on the economy, that’s all. You go and respond with how many compost plants did you build, how many this did you build, that is not what the issue is in Ghana today” he noted.

Mahama stated that the Vice President could simply answer those five questions without requiring a debate.

“And you can’t hide behind the debate, you don’t need a debate to answer the five questions. When you asked Amissah Arthur 170 questions, you did not agree to go and debate for him to answer them” he added.

While addressing a gathering in Tatale, former President Mahama posed five specific questions to Vice President Bawumia concerning the Ghanaian economy. These inquiries focused on critical issues such as the depreciation of the cedi against the dollar, the country’s debt stock, soaring inflation rates, the debts of the Central Bank, and Bawumia’s earlier lectures on economic matters.

In reply, Dr. Bawumia countered with a set of 50 questions, highlighting various events that occurred during Mahama’s administration.
