There’s a movement to block Black Sherif in Nigeria – Adesope Olajide

Adesope Olajide, a Nigerian media personality based in the UK, has stated that Black Sherif is at risk of losing support in the Nigerian music market due to his endorsement of the #PlayGhana initiative.

Olajide shared his views on the situation during an appearance on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

According to Olajide, some Nigerian bloggers are displeased with Black Sherif’s support for the initiative, which advocates for the consistent promotion of Ghanaian music in the country. The media personality highlighted the concerns raised by these bloggers in response to Black Sherif’s stance.

“You know, this is not a blame game. We are not blaming DJs. We are not blaming artistes. We are not blaming consumers. It’s a step in the right direction for us all, our music and our culture. So play Ghana. Blessings.”

Adesope Olajide, also known as Shopsydoo, noted that despite Black Sherif’s well-intentioned remarks supporting the #PlayGhana initiative, blogs might target the artist rather than established figures like Reggie Rockstone or Samini.

“Do you think you can say anything to Reggie Rockstone or Samini? No. They will go for the baby who really has just started his career, he is just building relationships, and they can tell that he is still wet behind the ears. Let’s target this one, he won’t be able to fight back’,” Adesope stated.

“So of course they will attack the popular person currently in that market, he didn’t say anything wrong,” the media personality noted.

For Adesope Olajide, it is “impossible” to blacklist Black Sherif since he is loved in Nigeria than some artists from the country.

Adesope also defended the call for prioritizing Ghanaian music, especially during holidays when diasporas flock to the country.

He argued that promoting local content is crucial to shaping the perception of Ghanaian music abroad, as visitors take home what they hear, influencing the global reception of the country’s music scene.

“When we come here we take home whatever we hear. If local content is not promoted, then whatever we hear is what we are going to take to the UK and America,” he stated.

An Accra High Court has thrown out a lawsuit brought against Ghanaian musician Black Sherif by Cruise People Ltd.

The company accused the artist of breaching an agreement, leading to the cancellation of the ‘Afro Cruise Jam’ concert in Athens, Greece.

The complainant who sought to book Black Sherif for a cruise ship performance initially deposited $20,000 out of a $40,000 booking fee to the singer’s international agency.

The contract lacked a requirement for promotional videos. However, the cruise organizer demanded the videos under threat of canceling the contract, constituting a breach.

In response, Black Sherif’s agents, in good faith, refunded the initial deposit, as the contract did not mandate promotional videos.

Despite this, the complainant insisted on a $50,000 reimbursement, escalating the situation, leading to the involvement of law enforcement, alleging breach of contract and fraud.

Black Sherif’s lawyers argued that the court lacked jurisdiction, as the contract specified legal proceedings in the United Kingdom.

The court sided with Black Sherif’s legal team, emphasizing that none of the addresses provided by the party initiating the contract were in Ghana.

  • Omanhene Kwabena warns Black Sherif over criticizing the gov’t without facts

Omanhene Kwabena warns Black Sherif over criticizing the gov’t without facts

Prominent Ghanaian media personality, Omanhene Kwabena Asante, has issued a stern warning to Black Sherif, advising him to refrain from delving into government matters if he lacks accurate information.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante criticized the singer for rebuking President Akufo-Addo over what he deemed an innocuous statement made during the recent United Nations General Debate in New York.

During the conference, President Akufo-Addo advocated for the return of $88 billion to the African continent as reparations for the transatlantic slave trade. He also highlighted that African nations lose more than $88 billion annually due to illicit financial flows.

“You’re keeping our $88 billion and still calling us corrupt. Yes, those monies too must be returned to the continent. It is difficult to understand why the recipient countries are comfortable retaining such funds while labeling those countries, from which the money is taken as corrupt,” Akufo-Addo told the Assembly.

In reaction to this, Black Sherif, in a quest to add his voice to the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, claimed that the president asked for an insanely huge amount of money from developed countries during the United Nations conference in New York.

Blacko, in a bid to chide the government for its lack of accountability after securing such huge sums, said there is no evidence for all the monies the government has asked and received from countless institutions.

“Left the UN Conference in New York City right after the president of Ghana’s presentation. I’ve never heard a figure like what he asked for from the UN. So, if they carry all this money give dem, where them dey take pass? Hand on my heart I dey tell you there’s no evidence for all the monies these people dey borrow in our name. And if the people, whose struggles you document to go ask for money, want accountability, you send Koti make they dey beat them? Lord knows this battle is Ours. Wonna go hear am,” he wrote on Twitter.

Omanhene Kwabena disagrees with him on all counts, despite the fact that his tweet received praise from some members of the public, particularly the protesters.

“He is just joining the bandwagon. Does he know what that money is being used for? Oh no! he shouldn’t just be saying things like this. He said there is no evidence of what they are borrowing the money for and that is not even true. There is no evidence? If there is no evidence, what about the hospital projects NDC built and NPP came to complete? If you’re not satisfied with the pace of development, is different from saying that there is nothing to show for the loans we take.

“Does he think MPs are clueless? He might not be happy with the pace of development but he shouldn’t lie. It is not a fact. Do you think if we didn’t utilize the loans, they would’ve kept giving us? Let’s be fair to ourselves. Let’s follow the principle. If you don’t understand the system, take your time and understand it. It is not a music scene. He is misrepresenting the facts.,” he fumed during a discussion on Adom FM.

“The president was addressing some people and clearly, he didn’t understand the context. He should be careful, very careful. Very very careful. This is a critical issue,” he fumed.

“Second Sermon” hitmaker, Black Sherif, has shown that he is not devoid of a sense of humour in a video that has gone viral on social media.

Many hold the assertion that the Ghanaian singer and rapper is free-spirited. They may not be wrong, as the 22-year-old rising star popularly referred to as Blacko gave an unexpected response when asked about plans to visit India during an Instagram Live.

Instead of answering the question right away, Blacko decided to show his numerous fans his dancing skills when it comes to Bollywood.

He gave his best performance as he twirled around on what became his dance floor. He attempted to imitate the background sound accompanied by such moves. Not being so successful, he burst into laughter.

After his ‘Indian moves’ Blacko said “We are coming to India.”

His dance moves can be seen in “Dola Re Dola” a song from the 2002 Indian period romantic drama film Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Ola Michael suggests Black Sherif needs mental health evaluation

Ghanaian media figure Ola Michael urges Black Sherif’s team to prioritize his mental well-being following a concerning viral video.

In the video, Sherif revealed his mental distress due to increased threats on his life and appeared confused, expressing fears about potential harm.

“I’ve been at war, I’ve been growing my hair, I’ve been running, I’ve been recording, I’ve been talking to my mum and dad. There’s been a lot going on. When it’s all said and done, everybody go hear am.

“No one is excluded. People who have pestered me before, others have chased me and want to slash my throat. People dey chase my throat, dey want slash am! On God! (speaks pijin),” he stated in the said TikTok live.

Upon careful examination of Black Sherif’s statements and behavior in the video, Ola Michael is deeply concerned. He firmly believes that there’s a concealed plea for assistance embedded in Sherif’s words and actions.

“I am a bit worried. Sometimes when artistes don’t talk much, they have a lot up their sleeves. When I saw this particular video, I was a bit concerned about what is going on in his mind, what he is going through, and what people are doing to him. I was wondering how life is treating him.

“His success probably came suddenly and he has been running with it since, so maybe, he is not ready for it. I think those close to him should find him someone to help him with therapy. His thoughts need to be straightened. We all did not even understand what he was trying to say in the video, we are all confused but he knows what he is saying. He had a lot to say but he was unable to communicate it well,” he said.

I only ‘smoke’ wee in my songs”- Black Sherif debunks chain smoker claims

Ghana’s superstar, Black Sherif, popularly known as Blacko, has rubbished rumours that he smokes marijuana. The 21-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter, and performer from Konongo, Ghana, who took the music scene by storm with his hit album The Villain I Never Was, has revealed that he doesn’t smoke and only portrays that in his music videos.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Black Sherif was asked if he smokes weed, to which he replied: “I don’t endorse marijuana, I don’t smoke”.

He emphasised that he only rolls up for the song inside, meaning that he only acts like he smokes in his songs. He said that he does this to create a certain vibe and mood for his music, which resonates with his fans.

Black Sherif is known for singing songs that glorify smoking weed, such as Kwaku the Traveller, Second Sermon, and Soja. His songs are often filled with references to weed, such as “I dey burn the kush”, “I dey smoke like a chimney”, and “I dey high like a kite”.

However, he has clarified that these are just artistic expressions and not reflections of his personal lifestyle.

Meanwhile, fans are in a frenzy in anticipation of his new single ‘Take Care of Yourself Blacko’, which he is set to release today. The song is expected to be another banger from the talented artist, who has been dominating the Ghanaian and African music charts.

  • Black Sherif to release 2-track project dubbed ‘Take Care of Yourself Blacko’

Black Sherif to release 2-track project dubbed ‘Take Care of Yourself Blacko’

The Black Sherif is set to release ‘Take Care of Yourself Blacko’, an introspective pair of singles, “YAYA” and “Simmer Down,” today.

The project highlights the growth of Blacko through adversities, as he navigates the cold streets of fame while staying true to himself.

“Simmer Down” is a highlife, soul, and drilled infused anthem about maintaining a winning mentality and practising patience to downplay opposition. “YAYA” follows the perspective of his alter ego, a rebel who gave fate a chance and is seeking healing.

Fans were given a sneak preview of the songs during his acceptance speech for “Artiste of the Year” at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in Accra, which were produced by his two internal collaborators Samsney and Joker Nharnah.

Black Sherif has established himself as one of Africa’s most influential artists since the release of his debut album, The Villain I Never Was, last year. He has also racked up enormous global streaming numbers, making him the most streamed Ghanaian artist of all time on popular African streaming service Boomplay and the most streamed Ghanaian artist of 2022 on Spotify.

Black Sherif is one of the leading pioneers of the new sound coming from Africa, and he has achieved these heights in record time without the use of any gimmicks.

Self-proclaimed as the “street preacher,” Black Sherif, who was born as Mohammed Ismail Sharif Kwaku Frimpong and is referred to as “Blacko” by those close to him, is already one of the foremost leaders for a new generation of African artists.

He has defied all odds handed to him since growing up in Konongo, a small mining town from the Ashanti Region of Ghana, to become the country’s biggest star. Carving out his own lane by bringing a distinctive sound to a new African generation, Black Sherif bridges the gap between Afrobeats, Highlife and Asakaa (Ghanian Drill).

His potent wordplay, illustrative storytelling and unique ability to seamlessly tread between dialects, regions and genres, combined with his captivating, explosive performances, has transcended his talents across borders.

He dropped his first single ever, “Cry For Me,” fresh out of high school at age 17, while his next one, “Money,” released in January 2020, depicted his coming of age, maneuvering through the tough streets of Accra, Ghana. His big break came in 2021 when his songs, “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon,” catapulted both him and Asakaa onto the map.

“Second Sermon” was listed #16 on The Fader’s 100 best songs of 2021 and the remix, which features Nigerian star Burna Boy, gave Black Sherif even more notoriety internationally. However, it was “Kwaku The Traveller,” the hit single that exploded on TikTok and generated 100 million plus streams in 2022, that stamped Black Sherif as a superstar in the making.

NPRThe FaderComplex UK and more, named “Kwaku The Traveller” as one of the best songs of 2022 and the success earned Black Sherif a nomination for “Best International Flow” at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. His critically acclaimed debut album, The Villain I Never Was, arrived in October of 2022 with the lead single “Soja” debuting at #23 on the Billboard US Afrobeats chart.

Accompanying music videos for album favorites “45,” “Konongo Zongo,” “Oil in my Head” and “Oh Paradise,” stand as a testament to Black Sherif’s artistic depth as each of the conceptual visuals have amassed many millions of views on YouTube.

Recent months have been a whirlwind for Black Sherif, who for the first time graced stages around the world including Afro Nation Miami alongside Burna Boy, Pharrell’s Something in the Water Festival, Wireless Festival in London and his own debut headlining concert at Palladium Times Square in New York City.

While in New York, Black Sherif was followed by OkayAfrica for their Summer 2023 cover story, and he also spoke with Ebro in an exclusive interview for Apple Music about his career to date.

His appearance on the popular Creed III soundtrack, executive produced by J. Cole’s Dreamville, with “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” featuring Bas and Kel-P, and his appearance on “Celebrate,” a collaboration with Jamaican superstar Popcaan, are a couple of other recent highlights.

While in New York, OkayAfrica trailed Black Sherif for their Summer 2023 cover story and he also sat down with Ebro for an exclusive Apple Music interview where he reflected on his journey so far.

Other recent highlights include his appearance on the blockbuster Creed III soundtrack, executive produced by J. Cole’s Dreamville, with “Blood, Sweat & Tears” alongside Bas and Kel-P, and his feature on “Celebrate,” a collaboration with Jamaican star Popcaan.

Anne Sophie Avé wants diplomatic passports for Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, others

Some of Ghana’s top musical talents have been praised by a former French ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie Avé, who has called for them to be given diplomatic passports.

She said that artistes such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, King Promise, Shatta Wale and R2Bees have done more to promote Ghana to the world than some ambassadors could ever do.

Her campaign was inspired by the impressive performances of these artistes at various summer events abroad.

Sarkodie is wrapping up his Jamz tour in the US, while King Promise rocked the Tottenham Sports stadium during Wizkid’s show, among others.

She took to Twitter to express her admiration for these artistes and their contribution to Ghana’s image and culture. She tweeted:

“Ghana 🇬🇭, you should give these guys diplomatic passports: they put Ghana to the world better than even the best ambassadors could in a lifetime @sarkodie @stonebwoy @blacksherif_ @shattawalegh @r2bees @IamKingPromise”

  • Mr. Logic calls for legal action against Black Sherif

Mr. Logic calls for legal action against Black Sherif

Controversial entertainment pundit, Mr. Logic, has demanded that Cruise People Limited ensures that fast-rising singer Black Sherif faces legal consequences as a deterrent for other artists.

On July 19, 2023, Black Sherif was arrested by the Ghana Police Service at Kotoka International Airport for breaching a contract regarding a July 4 show in Greece, which he failed to attend.

Reportedly, Black Sherif was scheduled to perform on a cruise ship in Greece and charged US$40,000 for the performance. He received half of the payment but did not fulfill his part of the contract.

Mr. Logic believes that such unprofessional behavior hampers the growth of the creative arts industry.

To foster a serious and thriving creative space, he emphasizes the need for accountability and responsibility among artists.

He calls for Black Sherif’s prosecution to set an example and caution other artists against similar actions.

Speaking on the United Showbiz show, Mr. Logic stated that artists should learn from this situation and face the consequences in court, stressing the importance of using the law to create a more professional environment within the industry.

“Artists should take a cue from this challenge, we are in a professional space and the law should take effect. let them go defend themselves in court so lessons can be learned”, he said while speaking on the United Showbiz show.

He added, “We are not making use of the court, and we take certain things likely in the creative space, the industry is known for unseriousness, and its high time the narrative change should we want a better professional environment”.

  • Black Sherif sued by Cruise People Ltd, over $100k compensation demanded

Black Sherif sued by Cruise People Ltd, over $100k compensation demanded

The Cruise People Limited has taken legal action against musician Black Sherif, accusing him of breaching a contract they had entered into.

The lawsuit, filed at the High Court, alleges that Black Sherif failed to fulfill the terms of their agreement, which ultimately led to the cancellation of the Afro Cruise Jam concert he was scheduled to perform at in August.

According to the suit, Cruise People Limited had booked Black Sherif for the cruise event and paid half of his booking fee, amounting to $20,000. As part of the agreement, Black Sherif was supposed to provide a video confirming his participation in the event in Greece.

However, the Plaintiff claims that despite assurances from Black Sherif that he would send the video before the media launch on May 19, he failed to do so. Consequently, the company went ahead and paid $18,000 to secure cabins on the cruise and an additional GHS65,000 to Joy FM for the launch on Drive Time.

Due to Black Sherif’s alleged failure to honor the contract, the concert had to be canceled, leading to financial losses and disappointment for Cruise People Limited. The lawsuit seeks to address the breach of contract and the damages incurred as a result.

“The Plaintiff avers that as a result of the Defendant’s willful neglect and or refusal to confirm his musical performance on the Joy FM radio show through the video clip, the paid deposit of $18,000 for the cabins on the cruise ship was lost to the cruise line due to the cancellation of the booking of the cabins since the expected Interests and patronage of the event could not be guarantee,” part of the suit read.

Cruise People Limited emphasized that Black Sherif was fully aware that his failure to fulfill his obligations, specifically confirming his participation in the event, would severely impact the Afro Cruise Jam. The success of the event relied heavily on the Defendant’s announcement of his availability to perform on the cruise ship.

They further asserted that this conduct by Black Sherif constitutes a significant breach of the agreement that was executed on April 18, 2023, rendering the entire agreement ineffective.

As a result of the breach, the organisers of the Afro Cruise Jam are seeking legal recourse. They are asking the court to direct Black Sherif to reimburse the $20,000 booking fee he was initially paid, in addition to seeking $18,000 to cover the expenses incurred in securing cabins on the cruise ship.

In summary, Cruise People Limited is urging the court to hold Black Sherif accountable for his actions and to provide compensation for the financial losses incurred due to the breach of contract.

Again, they are seeking “payment of interest on the $20,000 from the 18th April 2023, up to the date of final payment and an order directed at Defendant to pay Plaintiff $50,000 being lost profits occasioned by Defendant’s breach of the agreement.

Cruise People Limited are also seeking “an order directed at Defendant to pay to Plaintiff the Ghc65,000 which was paid to the Multimedia Group with the sole purpose of advertising the video clip of the Defendant which the Defendant refused to make available, general damages for breach of contract and Costs Inclusive of legal fees.”

    Background

Following his arrival in Ghana, Black Sherif was arrested by the police at the Kotoka International Airport for alleged breach of contract. Sources close to the musician confirmed that he had been booked for the Afro Cruise Jam event and had initially paid a deposit of $20,000 out of the total $40,000 booking fee.

According to the same sources, the contract did not specify a requirement for promotional videos to be made for a press launch prior to the event.

In response to the threats of contract cancellation and potential lawsuits, Black Sherif’s agents chose to refund the initial deposit. However, the event organizer insisted on being reimbursed $50,000 instead of the original $20,000 fee that had been paid.

Black Sherif’s agents find this request unfair and inconsistent with their understanding of the agreement.

On the other hand, CEO of Cruise People Limited, Daniel Vanderpuye, maintains that a promotional video was indeed part of Black Sherif’s obligations under the contract. Despite the musician’s failure to provide the video, his team expressed readiness to consider any changes or proposals to the agreement in an email.

However, Mr. Vanderpuye stated that there was no response from Black Sherif’s team for almost two months, during which he made multiple attempts to reach out to them through various channels, but to no avail.

“Gramps Morgan was in Ghana, he called the team and they called his bluff. Papa Logic, Baba Sadiq, and Amakye Dede’s folks all reached out and they called their bluff. I didn’t want to go on this tangent so I used all available human resources to reach out to the team,” he told Kwame Dadzie.

  • Fredyma laments ‘arrest’ of Black Sherif at KIA

Fredyma laments ‘arrest’ of Black Sherif at KIA

Well-known music producer, Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, has expressed his displeasure over the alleged arrest of Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, also known as Black Sherif, at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

According to reports, Cruise People Limited (Your Cruise People) filed a fraud charge against him, which led to the reported arrest.

In his moving Facebook post from July 21, Fredyma discussed the difficulties facing the music business and how such situations affect artists’ reputations.

He stated, “It’s humiliating being accosted while going to board a flight. A lot of spin and lies were said about his arrest at the onset. It’s a dent in the hard-earned image of his minimal success, and his management should, as a matter of urgency, sort things out with those that engaged him for that event.

“It’s too early for him to be having such bad publicity about his unreliability when one engages him. In our Akan culture, it is said ‘fromfrom nte ho daa,’ loosely translated ‘you cannot enjoy grace all the time’.”

Having worked in the creative field for 38 years, mostly in the music industry, Fredyma considered the challenges that artists confront and lamented the fact that some artists have lost out on possibilities due to their lack of discipline.

“Several musicians have lost great opportunities in the creative space for lack of discipline, naivety, and not paying attention to detail.

“Having dealt with a lot of talents, some peculiar traits that emanate from their actions are non-strict adherence to contractual agreements, inadequate preparation for major performances, lack of routine training and upgrade of their crafts, deception, money conscious, and not capturing detailed daily events,” he lamented.

He also warned Black Sherif about the delicate nature of life and advised, “Black Sheriff, don’t blacken your chef’s dress while consuming his delicacy for life is delicate! Good beads don’t rattle (sic).”

On the evening of July 19, 2023, the well-known Ghanaian musician, Mohammed Ismail Sherif, popularly known as Black Sherif, encountered an incident at Kotoka International Airport (KIA). Though reports about the occurrence emerged on social media, comprehensive details only surfaced in the early hours of July 20.

According to a report by Kofi TV, Black Sherif was stopped upon his arrival in the country because his name had been placed on a ‘STOP LIST.’ The authorities detained him and subsequently took him to the police headquarters in Accra.

The reason for his detention was revealed to be a contractual breach related to a scheduled show in Greece on August 19. Black Sherif allegedly failed to fulfill the terms of the contract, which required him to perform on a cruise ship in Greece. The contract involved a payment of US$40,000, with the artist receiving half of the amount upfront. The balance was supposed to be paid after the show.

Initially, no photos or videos of the incident were available. However, blogger Nkonkonsa later shared footage on Twitter, which showed Black Sherif being escorted into a car by a police officer and another individual in casual clothing.

In the midst of the unfolding situation, it has been gathered that Black Sherif was not arrested but rather escorted to the police car. The circumstances surrounding the contractual dispute are being closely monitored by the public and the media.

Black Sherif was arrested because he failed to perform for a client in Greece – Kofi TV

The evening of July 19, 2023, Black Sherif, the VGMA Artiste of the Year, is said to have been detained at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

On Wednesday, there were numerous unconfirmed reports on social media that the singer of “Kweku The Traveller” had been taken from the airport to the police headquarters in Accra because he had broken a contract by skipping a performance in Greece.

Kofi Adoma Nwanwani of Kofi TV, who confirmed the arrest, asserted that the incident revolves around a show scheduled to take place in Greece on July

“There are some developments arising from the camp of leading Ghanaian musician Black Sherif, the information we picked from the Police headquarters indicates that he was picked by the Ghana Police Service,” he said.

Black Sherif had allegedly charged a fee of US$40,000 for his performance and had received half of the amount in advance.

“We called our sources but we are yet to call Black Sherif to hear his side of the story, however, it appears it is due to issues with the organizer of the event where he was contracted to play on a cruise ship in Greece after he charged US$40,000 and receiving half of the amount,” he explained.

However, he failed to fulfil his commitment and play the show, leading to a complaint being filed against him by the client.

As a consequence of the contractual dispute, the artist was placed on a stop list, preventing him from leaving the country. Kofi Adomah, the host of Kofi TV, stated that Black Sherif was expected to receive the balance of the payment after completing the show.

“He was shocked when he was stopped by the police and arrested then taken to the police headquarters. As it stands out now they’re yet to decide if he will get bail or how they’ll discuss how he pays back the money,” he added.

Black Sherif was returning from a European tour where he performed at several music festivals including the Wireless Festival and AfroNation in Portugal among others.

The news of Black Sherif’s arrest has sent shockwaves through the music industry and among his fans.

As one of Ghana’s top musicians at the moment, Black Sherif has gained considerable popularity for his unique style and captivating performances, making him one of the country’s most sought-after performer.

Details surrounding the contractual disagreement are still emerging, and fans and industry insiders are eagerly awaiting further updates on the situation.

  • Booking agent demands $20k refund after Black Sherif’s arrest

Booking agent demands $20k refund after Black Sherif’s arrest

The Chief Executive Officer of Cruise People Limited, Daniel Vanderpuye, the company responsible for Black Sherif’s arrest on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, disclosed how his actions triggered a response from Black Sherif’s booking agents after months of silence in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy Prime.

According to Vanderpuye, on Thursday, July 20, 2023, the day following the arrest, he received a notification via email from the United Talent Agency, indicating that his recent actions had rekindled their communication after a prolonged dormant period, implying potential developments in the artist’s booking arrangements.

Vanderpuye said, in the mail, the accountant of the agency was ordered to refund to Cruise People Limited, the $20,000 that was paid to Black Sherif as partial fulfilment of their financial commitment of $40,000 for his performance at the Afro Cruise Jam slated for August 19, 2023 in Greece.

“This morning when I woke up, an email trail that truncated some time on 19th of May had just resurrected and what do I see? A message to the account department to send the money to Ghana. So it took this for that to happen? So if Black Sherif wasn’t arrested they weren’t going to do this?” he said.

Daniel noted that prior to this, he had served the agency a letter on the refusal of Black Sherif to record a video to confirm his availability for the Afro Cruise Jam. However, according to him, neither the agency nor the close team members of the artistes responded to the content of the letter.

The 21-year-old music star was picked up by the police when he got to the Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, after performing at the biggest music festivals across the US and Europe this summer.

According to him, because Black Sherif and his team were unyielding to the agreement to produce a promotional video for their event, he decided to hand him over to the police and the immigration.

The Cruise People Limited boss mentioned that some time in June 2023, “we petitioned the director CID and asked that he be arrested. You how many calls came from the police that he ignored. You don’t wanna know that.”

“The police will just not wake up and arrest Black Sherif on a baseless or flimsy excuse from us. We submitted everything. So based on that the police secured an arrest warrant from the court and then informed the immigration because where were we going to find him. So it was either when he is leaving or he is coming. So the immigration stopped him, handed him over to the police,” he further stated.

Daniel said Black Sherif was later taken to the police station to assist in the investigation of the matter.

Asked if he could not have resorted to other means apart from the police, he said his lawyers had earlier written to the United Talent Agency, and that other stakeholders had also reached out to Black’s team but to no avail.

In the meantime, he is seeking to take a civil action against Black Sherif, to get a refund of his money and damages for the losses he made.

According to a report from Kofi TV, the action was taken in connection to a contract that Black Sherif had allegedly failed to fulfill, leading to a formal complaint against him. Kofi Adomah, the host of Kofi TV channel on YouTube, disclosed this information.

Price of food is making people suffer in Ghana – Black Sherif

Black Sherif, the current reigning Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, also known as Blacko, has voiced his concerns regarding the high cost of food and other factors that are causing hardships for Ghanaians.

In a recent interview, the young Ghanaian artist acknowledged the country’s difficulties.

He claims that rising prices for food, gas, and inflation are causing people to suffer.

“There’s so much hardship going on in Ghana, economically, and politically. People are suffering from inflation. They can’t afford petrol or food,” he said.

“But then when the sun sets, everyone comes out in a crowd like, ‘yeah, man, we’re outsiddee!’ So, it’s like there are so many complaints, but from night to dawn we are in the moment.”

“I kind of talk for a frustrated figure in the city, a frustrated boy. I’m not from the city, but I live in the city. I came to chase life and dream there. From love to entertainment to survival. Driving out there, I’m testing my limits,”
