Black Sherif has been tipped to earn a nomination at this year’s BET awards due to his massive achievements during the year under review.

However, Camidoh, an artiste who equally rose to the standard has been nominated.

The Sugarcane crooner was the only Ghanaian nominated for the Best International Act category and many wondered why Black Sherif wasn’t a part of it.

Touching on the development, Camidoh’s manager, George Britton, in an interview with Cape CoastFM said, “Of course, Black Sherif won the Artiste of the Year at the 2023 VGMA and usually if you win such an award then you get the BET Awards nomination.

“But for sometime now, it doesn’t happen like it used to be some years ago so things have changed a bit in that regard,” he added in an interview MyNewsGh.com sighted.

“They now look at what you are also doing in their space, I mean internationally what is your song doing. So that’s some of the things they consider and that’s how come they considered Camidoh for nomination instead of Black Sherif,” he justified on the show.

“They realized sugarcane was huge in Europe, Asia, and everywhere they go so that’s the reason why we got recognized by such a prestigious organization”.

Black Sherif’s Palladium Theatre performance sparks speculation about Illuminati affiliation

Following Black Sherif’s recent performance, during which a “Baphomet” symbol was projected onto the stage has left fans in a state of shock.

Black Sherif was busy singing and interacting with his fans while performing on stage in front of hundreds of cheering crowds at the Palladium Theatre in New York City. In the background, a fiery image of “Baphomet” was being projected.

The symbol was projected for about a while and this was spotted in excerpts of the video making rounds on social media.

This has since sparked discussions online as the conversation has now shifted from holding a ‘successful show’ to projecting an Illuminati symbol on stage.

While some netizens have expressed disappointment, others have stated that perhaps, he wasn’t privy to the development.

    What is a Baphomet?

Baphomet is a deity allegedly worshipped by a popular secret society called the ‘Knights Templar’ that subsequently became incorporated into various occult and Western esoteric traditions.

The name Baphomet appeared in trial transcripts for the Inquisition of the Knights Templar starting in 1307.

While satanism may eschew holy sites and other tenets that are sacred to most religions, it places a high value on symbolism and art.

For years, it petitioned to have a massive Baphomet statue, a goat-headed symbol of Satan, as its lead symbol.

Blacko and I will definitely do a song together – Stonebwoy

Def Jam Records signee, Stonebwoy has indicated that he will definitely hit the studio with reigning artiste of the year, Black Sherif (Blacko) to produce a banger.

He made this remark while debunking rumours that there is a rift between the two, since Stonebwoy did not feature Blacko on his 5th Dimension album.

Explaining why he didn’t collaborate with the 2023 VGMA Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif, on his 5th Dimension album in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM in Cape Coast, the ‘Therapy’ hitmaker said there is no outstanding issue between the two.

“If you say that why didn’t I feature Black Sherif on my 5th Dimension album it might seem that there’s an issue between us but there are no issues at all. There are a lot more musicians in Ghana that I haven’t done songs with and there are names you can mention but there’s no problem between us,” he added.

“If we haven’t done a song yet it doesn’t mean there’s any wahala but it will definitely happen. We shouldn’t take it like it’s something that should have happened already and because it hasn’t happened so there’s something no we shouldn’t read meanings into it,” he stated.

Speaking further, Stonebwoy said there is still more time ahead to make magic with the ‘Kweku the Traveller’ hitmaker.

“By God’s grace, we have a lot of years ahead of us and we pray that better must come so we look forward to doing a collabo with Black Sherif and many other artistes as well,” he opined.

  • I’m nowhere close to Sarkodie – Black Sherif

I’m nowhere close to Sarkodie – Black Sherif

Black Sherif has urged Ghanaians to refrain from making unnecessary comparisons between him and his senior colleague, Sarkodie.

He made this comment while reacting to claims that Sarkodie’s Jamz album wouldn’t have attained a successful feat without his famous ‘Country Side’ collaboration with the rapper.

‘Country Side’, one of the singles off Sarkodie’s ‘Jamz’ album, has been touted as its only successful track.

It has been tagged as the most popular song on the album, considering the traction it has since received from fans and Black Sherif’s influence.

But reacting to such claims during a discussion on United Showbiz, Black Sherif said,

“If I had not been on the album, it still would have been what it is supposed to be. Albums and music are spiritual. I don’t know his destiny. If I were not on the album, it would have still taken the path it was supposed to take.

Sarkodie was doing these years before me, who am I to tell him that his album wouldn’t have been big without me? I have been doing music for only four years, subtract it from the number of years he has been doing music and see what he has been able to do. It doesn’t make sense,” he stated.

He, however, bemoaned the current trend of creating unhealthy competition, and enmity between artistes on social media just for trends.

“People sit on the internet, buy data and pursue a certain agenda just for trends. That’s what is done these days. In the real world, there is love between us. Lots of love. But some people on social media chose to put enmity between us and it’s really bad.”

Scores of celebrities have since commended him for what they described as a mature and wise way of addressing the issue.

Black Sherif added that his father would tell him that a line in his song could be slightly changed and tweaked to improve its meaning and give it a better lyrical punch. Blacko said that he would often do just that.

“I send some of my tracks to my parents to listen to it. My father is musically good, he would listen to my song and say that this line could be better if tweaked in this direction or done this other way. They have always believed in me and folded their arms to watch me prove myself. Nobody stopped me” he said.

Sarkodie’s ‘Jamz’ album will still be a hit without me – Black Sherif

Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), Black Sherif, has responded to suggestions that Sarkodie’s “Jamz” album would not have gained its current popularity without his contribution.

Black Sherif’s collaboration with Sarkodie on the track “Country Side” quickly became the most sought-after song on the “Jamz” album, leading some fans to believe that his contribution played a significant role in shaping the album’s overall appeal.

However, Black Sherif in an interview with MzGee on United Showbiz took the opportunity to clarify his stance on these claims, emphasizing that the album would have attained its current status with or without his involvement.

“It would have been what it will be. Music is a spiritual thing. From my lens, Albums and singles are babies. I don’t know his destiny. If I wasn’t on it, I don’t know his destiny, so whatever the album would have been, would have been,” he stated during the interview.

Black Sherif further acknowledged Sarkodie’s extensive experience and career longevity, noting that the acclaimed rapper had been making music for years before he entered the picture. He expressed humility by stating that he would not presume to dictate the success or failure of Sarkodie’s album, stating, “Am I the one to come and tell him that without me, his album would go nowhere? We don’t talk like that. I’ve just been here for four years, subtract it from his [Sarkodie’s] years.”

Blacko in a discussion on UTV Showbiz explained that it’s unfair and meaningless for people to come to such a comparison

In his submission, he said whether or not his verse on Sarkodie‘s album, still would have broke waves adding that Sarkodie is a brand on its own and has been in the industry for over a decade hence the shallow-minded comparison makes no sense.

“My verse on the Jams album doesn’t change anything, it would’ve still been big without me.

music is spiritual and I didn’t foresee the future of the album, Sarkodie is a big artiste, he has been doing this long ago before me, and he is a veteran but I just started, the comparison is senseless”

5 Star’ from King Promise passed the litmus test – VGMA Board member

A member of the Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Nii Ayite Hammond, has reacted to claims that Black Sherif was more deserving of the Album of the Year award than King Promise.

Nii Ayite Hammond acknowledged the brilliance of “The Villian I Never Was” album by Black Sherif but emphasized that “5 Star” from King Promise passed the litmus test in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Twitter Space.

“It is true that ‘The Villain I Never Was’ ticks all the boxes, the same way King Promise’s album also ticks all the boxes. You realise that when you read the category definition, it doesn’t say hit song and quality of recording. It says ‘and/or’. So when you are assessing them, you assess both and you make a choice out of that assessment,” he said.

The VGMA board member added that the dynamics for winning the Album of the Year category have shifted from having the highest number of hit songs to one possessing technical qualities.

He explained, “At a point in time in the music life of the country, we were doing more singles so the albums were kind of suffering. And so people who were coming out with albums and we realized that the definition that we had in the past which was three or more hit songs was becoming a challenge. So, in the wisdom of the Board, we needed to change that definition.”

The Album of the Year of Vodafone Ghana Music is adjudged by the Academy and Board as the most outstanding compilation of an Album that was released during the year under review. It must have generated excitement during the year, the category definition reads.

  • Black Sherif will win VGMA’s Artiste of the Year because he worked really hard – Ras KuukU

Black Sherif will win VGMA’s Artiste of the Year because he worked really hard – Ras KuukU

Fellow Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall musician, Ras Kuuku has put in a spirited submission for why young music sensation, Black Sherif should win the most coveted award at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards

The Artiste of the Year, the ultimate award at the VGMA is awarded to the musician who has made the most significant impact in the music industry over the past year.

Ras Kuuku in an exclusive interview on TV3 New Day was of the view that the “Oil On My Head” singer had a higher chance of snagging the Artiste of the Year but it would be difficult for him to take the Reggae song or Reggae Artiste award because of the stiff competition in the category.

“This time we have worked hard. Everyone knows about ‘3 3 in 1’. This year is not going to anyone who is not a Reggae/Dancehall artiste,” he revealed

RasKuuku who spoke highly of Black Sherif’s success said it was due to his hard work and dedication to his craft.

“Let me tell you Black Sherif is winning the Artiste of the Year because he worked hard but when it comes to the Reggae side we [Ras Kuuku and team] worked harder,” he noted

According to RasKuuku, he was on the verge of winning at least one of the awards he’s been nominated for at the upcoming VGMA for his album “3 3 & 1 (Miensa Miensa Ne Baako)’

“For the genre, it’s Ras Kuuku who did best and you know it. It’s coming back to Puom. If not Reggae Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall song is coming to Puom”

  • Bogo Blay, Black Sherif, Gyakie will take Ghana music to the next level – E.L

Bogo Blay, Black Sherif, Gyakie will take Ghana music to the next level – E.L

The time has come for Ghana to invest and pay more attention to the likes of Worlasi, Bogo Blay, Black Sherif, and Gyakie as they have been tipped to be the next big thing for the international music market.

Rapper E.L who provided names of these local artistes bet his last coin on their ability to top international charts with their quality sounds when given maximum support from the industry as well as those that matter when it comes to music promotion.

The 2016 VGMA Artiste of the Year, posited that Ghana has its attention on the wrong musicians, thereby neglecting those he named as the country’s biggest exports.

“We are not giving enough priority and resources to the right people. It is at the wrong side. The people we are paying attention to, I am sorry to say, most of the artistes we are really paying attention to are not going to take Ghana music as far as we want them to.

“I could name names of the artistes who are going to do it. Worlasi, Bogo Blay. These are some artistes who are doing it now and I am happy to see it. Black Sherif, Gyakie, we need more of that because that is what is going to take us there, period!” he disclosed on 3 Music TV as he called and called for full support for his colleagues.

His latest call is for music lovers to pay much attention to the works of Worlasi, Bogo Blay and the tall list of ‘marginalized’ musicians who have not been given their flowers despite their exceptional talent.

“We need to have a shift of the mindset that we want future stuff. We want to transcend. Let’s pay attention to these artistes. These artistes are going to take us there…they are our local brands,” he charged.

  • I create music like ‘a rebel’ – Black Sherif

I create music like ‘a rebel’ – Black Sherif

Singer-songwriter and rapper Black Sherif has revealed some behind-the-scenes details concerning how he creates his sensational music.

The ‘Soja’ hitmaker was asked how he births songs that sound different every single time.

“You see, where I was born – the kind of community I was born in [Konongo] – the first survival [tactic] you’ll realize is being a rebel,” he said.

He clarified that he was not talking about “pulling a knife and [other] things but rather not going [about things] conventionally.

“So I’ve been a rebel with everything I do [and] with my music.”

On what fuels the vim of the rebel in him, he simply answered: “I have nothing to lose, zero!”

Maintaining the Pidgin English, he added that: “I take risks with everything.”

Here, Blacko revealed that the beats other artistes reject are what he takes to “do my songs.”

“So, I take risks, being a rebel, singing – that’s my thing,” he emphasised.

He shared that he sees “life through my lens” and “past experiences,” and “I write about them.”

“I cannot see it through yours,” he added.

Peeling back more details about his creative process, the famous Ghanaian artiste and fashionista indicated that his songs are “mostly my opinions and debates that are going on in my head.”

“In my songs, I’m a wise person and sometimes I am a corny a** n***a,” the ‘45’ hitmaker explained. “Sometimes, I am vulnerable, sometimes I am something else. I do all that in my songs.”

The reason, he said, was “that’s the only place I feel safe.”

He repeated that his music “most at times” captures his “fantasies, past experiences and bare [a lot of other] things.”

“Last last,” that is, in the final analyses of things, “no one really cares,” Blacko commented in conclusion when his host highlighted his headstrong posture, especially in view of what people may think or say about him and his work.

Nominated 9 times for the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), including the ultimate Artiste of the Year award, he spoke on the Road to the VGMAs programme with media personality Akosua Hanson and co.

  • I am making money from my music- Black Sherif

I am making money from my music- Black Sherif

Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has revealed that his music is paying him very well.

Appearing on Accra-based TV3 for a Road to the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) interview, he was asked if the music work is paying off.

“Yes,” he responded without hesitation. “Yes, that’s how we’re able to shoot [my music videos].”

“If you study my videos from back then, they don’t look like the videos [and] the pictures we [shoot now],” he added.

His host mentioned that he and his team used to shoot with a phone.

“Yeah,” Sherif reacted, pointing in the direction of his team member Farouk.

“Farouk has been taking shots and videos of me for the longest time,” he said. “Now though, he has a bad [sophisticated] camera. Yeah, it’s like that.”

According to the ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ hitmaker, whatever competencies his team has “right now, yeah, we learned from scratch.”

The team is made up of risk-takers, he said, “because [we had] zero” and thus “we had nothing to lose.”

“So everything we did, we were trying something,” he added. “And we’ve built up from there.”

Take a look at how the Konongo-born star’s music videos have improved in picture quality since his ‘First Sermon’ hit in 2021.

  • Black Sherif poses a threat to Camidoh in this year’s VGMA- George Britton

Black Sherif poses a threat to Camidoh in this year’s VGMA- George Britton

For the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), George Mensah Britton has stated his artiste Camidoh‘s only competition when it comes to lifting the ultimate trophy, Artiste of the Year, is Black Sherif.

The music executive was in conversation with Nana Kwesi Asare on Class 91.3 FM’s Saturday afternoon programme ‘The Big Show’, April 1, 2023.

“We’re expecting nothing but success on the night” of the VGMAs, he said.

“For him to be nominated in that [Artiste of the Year] category means it’s a possible win,” he also said.

However, even if the ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker does not win, Mr Britton sees the nomination as “a big leap.”

He highlighted how the singer-songwriter Camidoh, was “two years ago an underground artiste but has over the period,” worked his way to the top, with “a lot invested in him.”

For the 2023 VGMAs Artiste of the Year category, “If I’ll actually be honest,” he said, “I think the only competition there [for Camidoh] will probably be Black Sherif.”

Apart from the ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ hitmaker, George Britton does not see “anybody like that [in the category]” being trouble for his artiste.

That said, he repeated that: “Everyone there [in the category] deserves to win,” especially since they have “been counted as the top guys in the country within a period…”

The ultimate brag at the VGMAs this year, Camidoh is going up against Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Piesie Esther, Joe Mettle, Stonebwoy, King Promise and the incumbent KiDi.

The Grind Dont Stop and GB Recordz artiste also stands the chance to win 5 other awards come Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre’s Grand Arena: ‘Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year’, ‘International Collaboration of the Year’, ‘Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year’, ‘Best Male Vocal Performance of the Year’, and ‘Best Afrobeats Song of the Year’.

  • I am successful because I take risks – Blacko

I am successful because I take risks – Blacko

Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has broken boundaries, locally and internationally, in the music industry.

Speaking about his magic formula for success, Black Sherif revealed that as a boy with roots in Konogo Zongo, he had survived by standing out of the ordinary.

He described himself as a rebel who had a hunger for success and no fear of failure in an interview with TV3.

Black Sherif’s launch to fame with his Second Sermon song was unusual. The young musician has continued to grow, with many awards from home and abroad under his belt.

In the interview with TV3, Black Sherif spoke about his hometown and its contributions to his successful career.

In the kind of community I was born into, the first survival thing that comes to mind is being a rebel. Not a rebel who pulls out knives, but not going the conventional way.

According to him, he has always taken risks with the mindset that failure is inevitable.

I have nothing to lose. It’s zero. So if I get one and come back, it’s zero. I don’t run into negatives. So I take risks in everything. The beat that you will reject is what I will use for my song. I just keep taking risks and being a rebel with my songs.

Black Sherif pays tribute to Christian Atsu while performing in Dubai

Musician Black Sherif remembered late Ghaian football star Christian Atsu during his performance at the 2023 Wireless Festival held in Dubai.

In a video, he shared on his Instagram handle, the Kweku The Traveller hitmaker was seen performing to an excited crowd.

Behind him, during his performance, was a huge screen displaying Christian Atsu’s name.

Christian Atsu died at age 31 in a devastating earthquake that occurred in Turkey and some parts of Syria on February 6, 2023.

The player’s club Hatayspor confirmed the Ghana star’s death, 12 days after the Turkey earthquake.

Family, friends and sympathisers gathered in Accra, on March 4, for the one-week observation of Christian Atsu’s death.

Meanwhile, Black Sherif is not the only musician who has used their craft to pay tribute to Christian Atsu.

Fameye in February released a new track dedicated to the Black Star player and gospel musician Grace Ashley also paid tribute to him.

  • Black Sherif’s Highlife music could revive the genre internationally – Akwaboah

Black Sherif’s Highlife music could revive the genre internationally – Akwaboah

Akwaboah has argued that Black Sherif’s music is ignorantly called Hiphop or Afrobeats by the music industry.

“I will describe most of the songs Black Sherif does as Highlife,” Akwaboah told the host of Accra-based Joy FM’s morning show, Kojo Yankson.

The ‘Obiaa’ hitmaker explained by adding that: “When you listen to the way he [Black Sherif] sings and everything,” it is evident he is a Highlife artiste, “but he has been pushed to Hiphop.”

Akwaboah opined that should Black Sherif be tagged a Highlife artiste, he could carry the iconic Ghanaian genre on his ascendency.

“So going global, imagine calling what he is doing Highlife, that would have been Highlife on the map,” he projected. “But in a way it appears we are pushing him into hip hop or Afrobeats.”

“So now what is happening is, he is out there but they are calling it Hiphop or Afrobeats,” the award-winning Highlife vocalist and record producer bemoaned.

Black Sherif has categorically stated in interviews that he creates his music from a Highlife perspective. He is also heavily influenced by Reggae. These influences come from music he experienced thanks to his parents when he was a boy.

Meanwhile, Akwaboah’s latest offering is titled ‘Darling’ featuring Kwabena Kwabena who has lately expressed sentiments similar to his on Sherif.

Cojo Rae apt to top VGMA Unsung with jamming street anthem, ‘Jah Guide’

Signed to Wayne Chavis Records, budding singer Cojo Rae has been tipped to be nominated and possibly win the upcoming VGMA 23 Unsung category.

His song, Jah Guide has been trending for the past weeks on various streaming channels especially in Kumasi due to his educational background.

Born as Agyapong Raymond, the talented singer completed Opokuware Senior High School in 2022 with his song blazing in every corner.

‘Jah Guide’, the banger, is a creative blend of drill music, lovers’ rock reggae, and it’s captivating in every sense of the word. However, Jah Guide was produced by Tubhani Musik, the producer known to be churning out dope records for many A-list acts in the country like Strongman.

Meanwhile, Cojo Rae is set to take over the airwaves with his anchored foundation cemented by Black Sherif’s former manager, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, popularly known as Snap Wayne Chavis.

After the scuffle with his former artiste that almost got him exiting the music business, Snap Wayne Chavis aka Snap C has still kept his desires burning against all odds.

Becoming a relentless investor, the building contractor and pharmacist who along the line became a music fanatic says he’s always been keen to keep supporting pure talent.’

With Cojo Rae, climbing up the ladder his umbrella, some artistes who have benefited from the benevolence of Wayne Chavis Records include Awal, Lousika, Amerado and Black Sherif among other ace musicians – he has been the silent investor of many artistes and songs alike in Ghana and beyond.

Interestingly, he became a centre of attraction when he parted ways with his then sensational artiste Black Sherif, who has now become a household name in Ghana, due to a “breach of contract” reason.

Nonetheless, his latest signee Cojo Rae right after high school in 2022 slammed out with, ‘Don’t Need Your Love’ and Jah guide which quickly accumulate over 1.7 million streams on just Boomplay.

With over 11,000 followers on Instagram and 135,000 followers on TikTok, Cojo Rae is projected to be part of the VGMA Unsung Category by many industry players since his music career took off in style.

As usual, the post gathered a lot of engagement from fans who liked, shared, and retweeted.

However, Efia Odo, who seems to be a distant admirer of Black Sherif also shared his post but with an interesting caption which read, ‘I got something pink that will make you smile.’

Her statement has got netizens wondering what exactly she was referring to.

Others who think Efia Odo’s comment might be somewhat related to something sexual have asked her to keep off, as they believe the rapper is still very much young.

Black Sherif on the other hand, is yet to respond to her offer.

This isn’t the first time Efia Odo has made subtle advances at Black Sherif on social media.

Earlier in December 2022, the actress reacted to a viral photo of the rapper in which he was said to have had an erection.

“What’s that in his pocket”? Efia Odo wrote beneath the picture where Black Sherif’s alleged ‘boner’ was spotted.

  • Black Sherif can win a Grammy for Ghana – Danny Lampo

Black Sherif can win a Grammy for Ghana – Danny Lampo

Black Sherif’s back to back production of hit songs has attracted the attention of award-winning Ghanaian afrobeat artiste Danny Lampo

The “Ebony” crooner has tipped the 20-year-old rapper to win a Grammy Award for Ghana in the future, should he keep up with his hard work.

Black Sherif has been admonished to remain humble and focused

Danny Lampo, like many Music lovers, has rated Blacko as the next big thing in the Ghanaian music scene. His first album “The villain I Never Was” was released somewhere last year and has been topping charts locally and internationally.

In a post, Danny Lampo congratulated him for being able to penetrate the Nigerian music market.

Being able to cross the border of Ghana and enter into the Nigerian music market is not a joke, I’ve been in the music scene for a while now, and I know how hard it is to be accepted in the Nigerian music market.

“I am very proud of you, Your music has been playing around the world. Remain humble and focused, come up with more quality music and stay clean. Hopefully, you can win the Grammy not just for Ghana but for Africa. Lampo wrote.

The “villain I Never Was” has received tons of airplay, becoming one of the most streamed song in the world

Danny Lampo is an Italian-born UK-based Ghanaian afrobeat artiste, he was born in Palermo, Italy on 2nd September 1993, Daniel Amponsah known is showbiz as Danny Lampo is one of the few artistes from Ghana who had a great year from 2020 as he was on almost all the big shows in the UK with some big stars including Grammy award-winning artistes Anthony Hamilton and Tiana Kocher.

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=Tzv5Qkjz9Ic%3Ffeature%3Doembed

Danny Lampo also made some point as to why Nigerian music is going international, It is a cultural characteristic of all human communities that is universal. Pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the acoustic aspects of timbre and texture are all included in general definitions of music.

Some of these aspects may be emphasized, de-emphasized, or omitted depending on the style or type of music.

There are instrumental pieces, vocal pieces, and pieces that mix singing and instruments; music is performed with a wide range of instruments and vocal approaches ranging from singing to rapping; there are instrumental pieces, vocal pieces, and works that combine singing and instruments.

One of the key ways to sell and promote culture apart from festivals is through music. Since the beginning of time, every single country has been promoting and selling its cultures and making its identity known through music and so far, some countries have done marvellously well at that by indigenously organizing sounds using elements from their cultures.

One of the countries in Africa that have been breaking global boundaries by simply putting together elements of their very own culture, vibes, and language in their songs is Nigeria.

With the emergence of stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Don Jazzy, P-Square, Iyanya, Rema and the rest, the country is well known globally for its Afro beat/Afro fusion genre.

As a musician, one of the main reasons why Nigerians seem to be doing so well with music internationally is the fact that they maintain the originality and cultural vibes in almost every song to be released by a Nigerian artist.

Ghana, on the other hand, has been doing marvelously well with most artists attaining global stands but to Rob shoulders with Nigerians when it comes to music.

Some top-tier stars from Ghana making recognized are Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Shatta Wale but these folks still lack the basics Nigerians have adopted in achieving global stands and I think Black Sherif has shown and proven to be one of the best to get to that level the Nigerians are. Just some few years of breaking through to mainstream and his everywhere. He even managed to penetrate the Nigerian music market with his songs. That alone says it all.

Ever listened to Burna Boy’s Grammy award-winning album “Twice As Tall”? Every single song on the album contains substances from the Nigerian culture, especially their language. Not only has the album gained recognition but has made the originality of the Nigerian culture known to the world.

Sarkodie’s seventh studio Album, “No Pressure”. According to him, the album is purely Hip-hop, thus not everyone will enjoy the songs.

The point here is, adopting the Hip-hop culture knowing perfectly well your country-men won’t enjoy was a wrong move because if your fan base in the country is unable to push to appreciate the craft, there is absolutely no way an outsider will appreciate it.

Black Sherif also released an album “The Villain I Never Was” When listening to the song you can feel the authenticity in the song and how relatable it is for everyone who hears it.

The debate whether the Nigerian music industry is better than the Ghanaian music industry has been an indecisive one; however, Ghanaians have a lot to learn from Nigerians in terms of entertainment and promotional tactics.

Danny Lampo is currently promoting his new single “Baba” and touring some parts of Europe as well.
