New Force is a movement to develop Ghana, not a political agenda – Cheddar

The founder of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako(Cheddar), has emphasized that his organization is not a political party but a movement aimed at transforming the future of Ghana.

During his ongoing presidential campaign, Bediako has ramped up his efforts, touring all the regions of the country to share his vision.

His most recent visit was to Swedru in the Central Region as part of his “276 Tour,”

“276 Tour” of the Central Region over the weekend, Mr Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, visited Swedru, where he told his supporters, “I do not represent any political party; neither is New Force a political party. It is a powerful movement aimed at dismantling the political system that has caused hardship, economic decline, and sleepless nights for Ghanaians.”

Bediako made it clear that he wanted Ghanaians to remember him not for his “T-shirts” but for the messages he carries.

He urged citizens to vote for him in the upcoming December elections, highlighting the need for change.

Reflecting on Ghana’s developmental struggles, Bediako criticized the leadership of successive governments, stating that only Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had truly advanced the country.

He warned that without making informed choices in the upcoming elections, Ghanaians, especially the youth, would continue to face hardship with no hope for the future.

Bediako also criticized the current administration, accusing it of prioritizing foreign interests over those of the Ghanaian people, particularly when it comes to the nation’s natural resources, such as gold and cocoa.

He made similar statements during a visit to Winneba, where he discussed his vision for industrializing Ghana and creating jobs for the unemployed.

He expressed concern over the future of Ghanaian youth after education, urging the public to unite for “a new Ghana, a new revolution, and a new independence.”

Bediako called on the youth to reject the current leadership, which he believes has failed them, leaving them with no jobs and no future.

He urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to be wary of the current leadership and not fall for their deception, “who have failed the people, leaving them with no jobs, no future, and no hope despite years spent in institutions and organisations”.

Bediako urged Ghanaians to reject empty promises from political parties and take bold steps to secure a better future. If elected president, he pledged to focus on industrializing the country, creating jobs, and improving the standard of living for all Ghanaians.

Social media sensation Shatta Bandle has endorsed Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, the flagbearer for the New Force Revolutionary Movement.

The pair has embarked on a campaign tour to inspire and mobilise communities throughout Ghana.

Cheddar, a prominent advocate for youth empowerment and social change, hopes that Shatta Bandle’s influence will engage more young people in their mission.

Their campaign will cover various regions, focusing on community challenges, fostering youth involvement, and promoting development.

The partnership began when Cheddar attended Shatta Bandle’s naming ceremony in the Karaga District.

Together, they aim to inspire action and strengthen unity within the communities they visit.

  • Dormaahene vows to end ‘feud’ with Otumfuo after meeting with Cheddar

Dormaahene vows to end ‘feud’ with Otumfuo after meeting with Cheddar

Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has committed to resolving any lingering disputes with Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

This pledge came during a visit from Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, who is running as the presidential candidate for the New Force.

While on a regional tour to share his campaign messages, Cheddar stopped by the Dormaahene’s palace, where he expressed his hopes for a harmonious relationship between the Dormaahene and the Otumfuo.

“Otumfuo and Osagyefo are two significant names, and both are chiefs. If it weren’t for the blessings of God, they wouldn’t have become chiefs. But things happen for a reason.

“I came here with drinks to appease you, and I will plead on behalf of Otumfuo as well to cease all grudges between the two of you.

“I, Nana Kwame Bediako, am offering my head for the sake of peace. If the two of you are united, we have peace in Ghana. But if there is separation, then we are also separated. What I am asking them to do, if it doesn’t become possible, is they should behead me,” Cheddar said.

In response, Dormaahene pledged to ensure that his efforts to maintain peace with Otumfuo would not be in vain.

“What he said has left me speechless. He has addressed issues that our leaders in the country cannot talk about. Who doesn’t want peace? I have thought about it, and I promise him that his efforts won’t be in vain. If not for Ghana’s 1992 constitution that prohibits chiefs from engaging in politics, I would have declared my support for him,” he said.

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has been openly critical of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, regarding certain traditional authorities he believes fall outside the Asantehene’s jurisdiction.

Though there is no specific cause cited for their differences, it is widely acknowledged that the Dormaahene and the Asantehene have not enjoyed a cordial relationship. This tension has surfaced on multiple occasions and has been the subject of media coverage over the years.

In the latest dispute, Dormaahene has challenged Otumfuo’s decision to elevate the Fiaprehene to paramount status, contending that this action exceeds the Asantehene’s rightful authority.

  • The quest for a third force in Ghana’s political landscape

The quest for a third force in Ghana’s political landscape

For over three decades, two major parties: the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – deemed to be archnemises, have governed the country.

This duopoly has shaped the country’s democratic narrative since the Fourth Republic began in 1992, when the late former President Jerry John Rawlings won the presidential elections on the ticket of the NDC. Prior to this era, Ghana had witnessed a vibrant political culture with the Convention People’s Party (CPP) at the forefront, securing Ghana’s independence in 1957 under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s leadership.

However, since the inception of the Fourth Republic, the CPP and other smaller political entities have struggled to make a significant impact. The once-powerful CPP, along with other parties such as the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has been relegated to the political sidelines.

Despite the multi-party system that Ghana’s democracy allows, the dominance of the NPP and NDC has effectively sidelined any credible competition.

With the approach of the 2024 general elections, calls for a robust third force to challenge the dominance of the NPP and NDC have grown louder.

A growing number of Ghanaians are increasingly disillusioned with the repetitive cycle of governance by these two parties, attributing their dissatisfaction to underwhelming economic progress, unfulfilled promises, rampant corruption, and the persistent mismanagement of state resources.

The Call for Unity Among Smaller Parties

Several Ghanaians, including prominent legal practitioners such as Samson Lardy Anyenini and Martin Kpebu, have strongly advocated for a new political force that can rejuvenate the political landscape and offer a credible alternative to the electorate.

Both Anyenini and Kpebu argue that to break the duopoly, smaller political parties must unite. Anyenini proposes the idea of a “cartel” of smaller political organizations coming together, pooling their resources and collective strength to pose a significant challenge to the two major parties.

This proposed unity of smaller parties would include the CPP, PNC, PPP, and other entities, creating a formidable coalition that could win the trust of the electorate and challenge the status quo.

Kpebu, however, extends this call for unity beyond just political parties. He urges religious bodies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to form alliances to bolster the prospects of a third political force.

He recalls the TUC’s attempt to form a political party in the 1970s, which ultimately collapsed, but believes this failure should not deter them from trying again.

Both legal experts, along with other like-minded Ghanaians, argue that a strong third force will only emerge through collaboration and a collective push to harness the frustrations and desires of an electorate that is increasingly dissatisfied with the leadership of the NPP and NDC.

    The Numbers Tell the Story

    2008 elections

    Papa Kwesi Nduom (CPP) – 112,673 (1.32%)

    Edward Mahama (PNC) – 73,618 (0.86%)

    Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi (DFP) – 28,471 (0.33%)

    Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah (Independent candidate) – 19,178 (0.22%)

    Thomas Nuako Ward-Brew (DPP) – 8,367 (0.10%)

    Kwabena Adjei (RPD) – 6,443 (0.08%)

In the first round of the presidential election, neither Nana Akufo-Addo of NPP nor the late Prof John Evans Atta Mills of the opposition NDC won more than the 50 percent needed to avoid a run-off.

The Electoral Commission declared Atta Mills the winner with 50.23 per cent of the total votes cast in the run-off, against 49.77 per cent for Akufo-Addo.

In 2008, Paa Kwesi Nduom contested on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) but four years later, he founded the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and contested on its ticket in the subsequent elections.

    2012 elections

    John Mahama (NDC) – 5,573,572 (50.63%)

    Akufo-Addo (NPP) – 5,263,286 (47.81%)

    Paa Kwesi Nduom (PPP) – 64,267 (0.58%)

    Henry Herbert Lartey (GCPP) – 38,250 (0.35%)

    Hassan Ayariga (APC) – 24,621 (0.22%)

    Abu Sakara (CPP) – 20,109 (0.18%)

Jacob Osei Yeboah (Independent candidate) – 15,156 (0.14%)

    Kwasi Addai (UFP) – 8,909 (0.08%)

    2016 elections

    John Mahama (NDC) – 4,577,395 (44.35%)

    Akufo-Addo (NPP) – 5,551,028 (53.79%)

    Paa Kwesi Nduom (PPP) – 12,411 (1.09%)

    Ivor Greenstreet (CPP) – 25,502 (0.25%)

    Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (NDP) – 16,837 (0.16%)

    Edward Mahama (PNC) – 22,115 (0.21%)

Jacob Osei Yeboah (Independent candidate) – 14,998 (0.15%)

    2020 elections

    Akufo-Addo (NPP) – 6,730,587  (51.302%)

    John Mahama (NDC) – 6,213,182 (47.359%)

    Christian Kwabena Andrews (GUM) – 105,548  (0.805%)

    Ivor Kobina Greenstreet (CPP) – 12,200 (0.093%)

    Akua Donkor (GFP) – 5,574  (0.024%)

    Henry Herbert Lartey (GCPP) – 3,564 (0.027%)

    Hassan Ayariga (APC) – 7,138 (0.054%)

    Percival Kofi Akpaloo (LPG) – 7,683 (0.059%)

David Asibi Ayindenaba Apasera (PNC) – 10,882 (0.083%)

    Brigitte Akosua Dzogbenuku (PPP) – 6,849 (0.052%)

    Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (NDP) – 6,549 (0.050%)

Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker (Independent candidate) – 9,704 (0.074%)

Analysing four successive electoral cycles in Ghana paints a grim picture for the smaller parties. In the 2008 elections, various smaller parties, including the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP), collectively garnered less than 3% of the total votes. Despite their efforts, they failed to pose any serious challenge to the NPP or NDC.

This trend continued through the 2012, 2016, and 2020 elections, where the smaller parties’ vote shares consistently fell below 2%. Even in the 2020 elections, where dissatisfaction with the major parties was high due to economic challenges, the combined votes of smaller parties and independent candidates totalled less than 5%.

What Hinders the Rise of a Third Force?

Several challenges have prevented smaller parties from breaking through. Top among them is disunity. The inability of these parties to rally behind a single candidate or common vision has significantly weakened their impact. Each party has distinct goals and aspirations, often grounded in different ideological or personal motivations, making collaboration difficult.

Additionally, competition from the larger, well-established NPP and NDC is a major impediment. The extensive financial and logistical resources at the disposal of the two major parties make it difficult for smaller parties to compete on equal footing.

Voter loyalty is another critical factor. Many Ghanaians have deeply entrenched loyalties to either the NPP or NDC, making it difficult for smaller parties to sway the electorate..

The Lessons from Nigeria’s 2023 Elections

Ghanaians advocating for a third force often draw parallels with Nigeria’s 2023 elections, where third-force candidates performed remarkably well. In a historic outcome, Nigeria’s ruling party candidate, Bola Tinubu, won the presidency with just 36.6% of the vote, the lowest winning margin in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

The strength of the third-force candidates was particularly evident in states like Kano and Lagos, where they disrupted traditional voting patterns and prevented any candidate from winning a clear majority. This relative success, despite a lack of established political structures, has inspired hope that a similar political transformation could occur in Ghana.

    2024: A Year of Possibilities?

In less than four months, Ghana will head to the polls, and the focus is intensifying on the nation’s next presidential election. So far, only the NDC and NPP have successfully chosen their presidential candidates.

However, individuals like former Trade Minister and leader of the Movement for Change, John Alan Kyerematen, and Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, leader of The New Force, have also declared their intentions to run as independent candidates.

Many Ghanaians believe that these figures could represent the third force that the country has been searching for. Meanwhile, the People’s National Convention (PNC) has scheduled its elections for flagbearers and party executives on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) was supposed to hold its presidential primary on August 24, 2024.

As Ghana grapples with challenges like rising inflation, fuel and transport cost hikes, and increasing utility bills, many wonder if these issues will push voters towards a third force.

At present, both Mr Kyerematen and Nana Bediako have garnered a noticeable following, and there is speculation that they could pose a serious challenge to the two dominant parties, potentially leading to a runoff in the 2024 elections.

The Imminence of a Third Force

A third force is not a matter of if but when. The emergence of a strong third force could break the cycle of duopoly and provide a fresh direction for the country. However, achieving this goal will require unity among smaller parties, the establishment of robust organizational structures, and a shift in voter perceptions.

As Ghana approaches the 2024 elections, the question remains: Will a third force finally emerge, or will the NPP-NDC duopoly continue to dominate the political scene? The answer lies in the hands of the electorate and the ability of smaller parties to rise to the occasion.

NDC was behind #OccupyJulorbi and #FixTheCountry protests – Cheddar

An independent presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has voiced his disapproval of the protest organized by Democracy Hub, aimed at ending illegal mining (galamsey).

In a video posted on his social media on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the leader of the New Force Movement suggested that the #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse protest, along with others like #FixTheCountry, are orchestrated efforts by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Well, let me tell you something, all of these protests and demonstrations that have been organized in this country in the past year or two, they are organized by one of the duopolies. It is the same politician, and I said it. I am not going to mention names, but you know that Julorbi and FixTheCountry were fixed by one of the existing parties. We cannot do this to ourselves and destroy this country because of a politician, personal interest, or a party interest.

“Please, Ghana, do your research. The people in front of all these demonstrations, some of them have treason charges. Ask, find out who is sponsoring them for the mobilization and all the things that happened. This is not about galamsey; this is about political interest,” he stated.

Cheddar’s recent statement follows an earlier one in which he condemned the #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse protesters, labeling the demonstration as unlawful and asserting that it is not the appropriate approach.

“Power is taken and not given, and if you want to take power, you should take it with wisdom and knowledge. After all, power comes out of knowledge. I want us to use our knowledge, for violence is not the right way for us to send a message,” he said.

He appealed to the youth to exercise patience as the country is known for its peace-loving nature. “I am appealing to you as youths of the country to be patient as we approach the election season. Let’s find an amicable way to deal with it.”

He emphasized his belief that violence cannot contribute to building a nation.

“Instead of trying to mess it up, let’s build it together. That’s what I am here for. Violence, I don’t believe in it. Whatever you guys are doing, protesting and all of this, I can’t support you because that is not the right way.”

Nana Kwame Bediako has passionately called on opinion leaders to prioritize peace, urging, “Let’s not allow this to escalate into violence and misunderstanding. We must find an amicable solution. On December 7th, we will have peaceful elections where the people can make their choice.”

The protest, aimed at pressuring the government to end illegal mining activities, was overshadowed by police arrests, with the Ghana Police Service citing unlawful actions by the demonstrators.

More than 40 protesters were arrested between Sunday and Monday and have since been brought before the court.

Despite his call for peace, Bediako’s opposition to the protest and his labeling of the organizers as puppets of the NDC have drawn significant backlash on social media.

Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, an independent presidential candidate, has expressed his view on the Democracy Hub-led protest aimed at ending illegal mining (galamsey).

In a video posted on his social media on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the leader of the New Force Movement suggested that the #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse protest, along with others like the #FixTheCountry demonstration, are tactics orchestrated by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Well, let me tell you something, all of these protests and demonstrations that have been organized in this country in the past year or two, they are organized by one of the duopolies. Cheddar’s remarks follow a previous statement where he criticized the #ReoccupyJulorbi protest, calling it illegal and an improper course of action.

“Power is taken and not given, and if you want to take power, you should take it with wisdom and knowledge. After all, power comes out of knowledge. I want us to use our knowledge, for violence is not the right way for us to send a message,” he said.

Nana Kwame Bediako has made a passionate call on opinion leaders to ensure peace. “Let’s not make this also full of violence and misunderstanding. Let’s find an amicable way to deal with this. On the 7th of December, we are going to have peaceful elections and the people can decide.”

The protest, which sought to pressure the government to put an end to illegal mining, was disrupted by police arrests, with the Ghana Police Service citing unlawful actions by the demonstrators.

More than 40 protesters were detained by the police between Sunday and Monday and have since faced legal proceedings.

Nonetheless, Cheddar’s opposition to the protest and his labeling of the organizers as NDC puppets has sparked significant criticism across social media platforms.

Cheddar walks out of balloting process

Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, staged a dramatic walk-out during the Electoral Commission’s (EC) balloting process for the 2024 general elections.

The incident, which took place today in Accra, has caused a stir, with Cheddar expressing strong dissatisfaction over the EC’s approach to assigning ballot positions.

Cheddar, who is one of four independent candidates cleared to contest the presidential race, protested the EC’s decision to prioritize candidates sponsored by political parties by giving them the first nine spots on the ballot.

The remaining slots were reserved for independent candidates, a move Cheddar criticized as unfair and biased against those running without the backing of established political parties.

Visibly frustrated, Cheddar confronted officials during the event, accusing the EC of discriminating against independent candidates and undermining their chances in the election. After voicing his concerns, he stormed out of the venue, signaling his discontent with the entire process.

The event, which was intended to determine the order in which qualified candidates would appear on the ballot, has sparked discontent among some candidates, with one candidate dramatically walking out of the venue.

The tension began when the EC announced a decision to prioritize candidates sponsored by political parties, allocating them the first nine spots on the ballot paper, while reserving the remaining positions for independent candidates. This move immediately drew sharp criticism from several quarters, particularly from independent candidates, who felt sidelined by the arrangement.

Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate, expressed his displeasure openly during the proceedings. He argued that the EC’s decision was biased and undermined the principles of equality and fairness. Bediako staged a walk-out from the event, marking a dramatic turn of events during what should have been a routine process.

Cheddar was slated to appear at 6 pm, but the IEA was informed of his withdrawal shortly before the scheduled time.

The IEA had previously released its schedule for presidential encounters and debates on Friday, September 13. Following Cheddar, Alan Kyerematen was scheduled to appear on September 24.

Leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has filed his nomination to contest in the 2024 general elections at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters today.

He was received by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa. This was hour a few hours after the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also filed his nomination to contest in the elections.

He was joined by running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s National Chairman, General Secretary, Majority Leader in Parliament, and other key party leaders.

On her part, Jean Mensa received his forms and noted that it is the first time a Vice President has filed a nomination for the presidential elections.

  • Why Samia Nkrumah reportedly turned down Cheddar’s running mate proposal

Why Samia Nkrumah reportedly turned down Cheddar’s running mate proposal

Former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Samia Nkrumah, has clarified her reasons for turning down a purported offer from Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known as Cheddar, to be his running mate in the upcoming elections.

Cheddar, who leads the New Force movement, is said to have proposed a partnership with Samia, citing his admiration for the Nkrumaist tradition and his aspiration to continue the legacy of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Despite the flattering nature of the offer, Samia Nkrumah chose to decline, emphasizing her commitment to returning to Parliament, particularly to reclaim the Jomoro constituency seat. She previously held this seat but lost it to Dorcas Affo-Toffey of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a past election.

“Yes, Cheddar did [offer the position], but I told him that I had invested too much in Jomoro. I believe Nkrumah’s tradition must be represented in Parliament in that decision-making body. Because as it is today, it is not with that clarity and conviction. So yes, I have invested too much, and I think I want to see that happen,” Samia explained.

When questioned about whether doubts concerning Cheddar’s ideology or policy proposals influenced her decision, Samia clarified that she believes many Ghanaians, including Cheddar, have the right mindset to lead the country. However, she stressed that political success requires a strategic approach, especially during times of crisis.

“I believe many Ghanaians have what it takes inside and outside of politics. Now we know what our priorities are; I think most of us do, so I believe many Ghanaians have the right mindset and know what should be done. But politics is a different thing. Vying for political power, I think you have to do it with a strategic aim,” she said.

Samia further highlighted the need for various forces to unite in addressing Ghana’s pressing issues, such as poverty, education, and housing.

She believes that her best contribution to addressing these challenges is by securing a seat in Parliament and ensuring that the Nkrumaist tradition plays a significant role in shaping the country’s future.

Former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Samia Nkrumah, has revealed that she turned down an offer from the leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, to be his running mate in the upcoming elections.

Cheddar reportedly approached Samia with a proposal to join him as his running mate, citing his admiration for the Nkrumaist tradition and a desire to continue the legacy of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

According to Samia Nkrumah, she turned down the offer, explaining that her focus was on returning to Parliament, specifically the Jomoro constituency seat, which she previously held but lost to Dorcas Affo-Toffey of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a past election.

In the context of Ghana’s current economic challenges, Samia emphasized the importance of a strategic approach to politics, particularly in addressing critical issues such as poverty, education, and housing. She believes that different forces must come together to address these pressing concerns.

For Samia, the best way to contribute to Ghana’s future is by securing a seat in Parliament and ensuring that the Nkrumaist tradition plays a role in shaping the country’s direction.

Her decision reflects a clear focus on her personal political goals and a desire to see the Nkrumaist legacy represented at the highest level of Ghana’s legislative body.

Vote for me and Ghana won’t rely on IMF – Cheddar urges

The founder and leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), has declared that if elected in the 2024 general election, he will create a National Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Cheddar described this fund as the future backbone of Ghana’s economy, intended to safeguard the nation’s wealth and resources.

He highlighted that the new fund would rival the International Monetary Fund (IMF), aiming to reduce Ghana’s dependency on the traditional Bretton Woods system.

During the New Force Key Policy Launch on Sunday, September 1, Bediako stressed the transformative potential of this initiative for the country’s economic future.

Cheddar also condemned the long-standing practice of exporting Ghana’s minerals for minimal returns, vowing to end such exploitation if given the mandate.

“We are going to create the National Sovereign Wealth Fund; this is the new IMF. Well, at this very point, Ghana will help me launch the new IMF. Because verbally it is said but physically and mentally, we are about to implement it. This pillar is a new policy and it will disrupt and dissolve but eventually, it will rebuild our heritage value.

“In the past, our minerals have been extracted and exported for pennies, we are ending it. The National Sovereign Wealth Fund is the new IMF, independent and autonomous. It will collect every reserve and will keep it and protect it.”

Pastor warns Cheddar to quit his presidential ambitions because he is young

Apostle Kofi Nkansah-Sarkodie, widely known as St. Sark and the head of Open Arms Ministry in Kumasi, has cautioned New Force leader Nana Kwame Bediako, known as Cheddar, to forgo his intention to run in this year’s presidential election.

St. Sark has warned that ignoring this advice could lead to significant setbacks for Cheddar’s political ambitions.

“I did a press conference and I advised him that he is young, in terms of politics and everything. So, if he wants to enter politics and become a president in Ghana, he should give himself 10 years.

“I told him but he didn’t listen and is still actively aiming to be president,” he said.

In a media briefing held at his church auditorium on Friday, July 19, 2024, St. Sark stated, “This is my last warning to him. If he doesn’t comply, his political career will come to an end on the 23rd of August because the kind of things I will say, it may affect his life throughout. I am telling him because I know where he is coming from.”

He emphasized that he has repeatedly advised Nana Kwame Bediako to reconsider his decision but to no avail.

“I know where he is coming from. I know everything about him, and that is why I am advising him to step down. I have advised that he is too young and too raw for the presidential seat,” he added.

He called on the government to prioritize creating pathways for local talents to succeed, akin to those available to their counterparts in the diaspora.

“Congratulations to Spain and Nico Williams for winning the Euros and commiserations to Kobbie Mainoo. These two young men are sons of the Ghanaian nation.

“The story of their families is a testament to the success Ghanaians can achieve when given opportunities. From overcoming the challenges of immigration to representing their countries on the world stage, they exemplify humility, courage, and an unwavering hunger for success.

As a nation, we must strive to provide our youth at home with the same opportunities available to the diaspora. Power and success to the Ghanaian youth,” he wrote.

I will import Chinese, American, European to come work for us in Ghana – Cheddar

Leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, has expressed his intention to recruit individuals from China, America, and Europe to contribute their efforts towards Ghana’s benefit.

He stated that rather than allowing foreigners to exploit our resources due to their specialized skills, he prefers to redirect their capabilities towards benefiting the country.

He emphasized a strategy of harnessing the skills of these foreigners who currently exploit the country’s resources for their own gain.

“In fact I intend to import talents. The idea of me telling you that I am going to take the Chinese and keep them here to work for 4 years in hard labor is part of importing talents. But I am cutting the importation system out because they are already here and they’ve spoilt my water. After that I will still bring different types of people from the world. From Europe, from America, from everywhere. They have to come and work for us. The same gold they can drill, they can do the job for us,” the leader of the New Force Movement explained.

Meanwhile, Cheddar has officially declared intention to contest the upcoming December 7 presidential election as an independent candidate.

He said the decision to contest as an independent candidate was due to delays in acquiring the necessary approval from the Electoral Commission to form a political party.

“We believe that if we have to wait for three months and we are guaranteed to still get this license, we would not have two months to even campaign or market for this party,” he stated.

Hassan Ayariga, founder and flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), has urged Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar and founder of the New Force Movement, to step away from politics and concentrate on his successful business ventures.

Speaking on the ‘On A More Serious Note’ show on Joy Prime, Ayariga expressed his opinion that Cheddar is better suited to managing his businesses rather than pursuing the presidency. He questioned Cheddar’s motivations for entering politics and asserted that the presidency is not within his scope.

“I don’t know what got Cheddar into the game; I don’t know his vision or reason for coming into the game. Cheddar is a friend and a businessman. He should run the business the way he is. The presidency is not for him,” Ayariga stated during the interview with host KMJ.

Acknowledging Cheddar’s success in business, Ayariga emphasized that wealth alone does not qualify someone to be president. He stressed that leadership requires vision and sound policies, qualities he believes Cheddar may not possess for presidential leadership.

Ayariga also criticized Cheddar’s proposal to expand the sea to Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, as impractical given Ghana’s economic challenges. He urged political aspirants, including Cheddar, to focus on developing policies that promote economic independence and address the country’s pressing needs.

“Who can take the sea to Kumasi? When you sit down and say you’re taking the sea to Kumasi, and you sit down to analyse that policy, what does he intend to achieve? Common roads, you cannot do in this country,” Ayariga questioned, highlighting the importance of feasible and impactful initiatives.

The poll, released today, indicates that NKB, also known as Cheddar, has seen a surge in support particularly in the Central, Ashanti, Eastern, and Volta regions. This upward trend underscores his growing popularity among voters in diverse constituencies within these pivotal areas.

Specifically highlighted in the survey are NKB’s strong showings in constituencies such as Abura Asebu Kwamankese in the Central Region and Kade in the Eastern Region. These areas have traditionally been influential in shaping electoral outcomes, reflecting NKB’s strategic campaign efforts and increasing resonance with local communities.

The poll further illustrates regional dynamics, showcasing how NKB’s campaign strategies have resonated differently across various parts of the country. His focused engagement with voters and targeted policy platforms appear to have garnered significant traction, positioning him as a formidable candidate leading up to the December elections.

In addition to NKB’s regional gains, the survey also tracks broader voter sentiments and concerns. Economic issues remain paramount, with 73% of respondents prioritizing concerns about the economy. Jobs follow closely behind at 69%, highlighting the electorate’s focus on socio-economic stability and growth.

Furthermore, the survey reveals significant shifts in voter confidence in key institutions. Leader and founder of The New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), has emphasized the necessity for voters to consider a fresh leadership alternative outside the two major political parties that have led the country into turmoil.

Concluding his four-day road show in the Ashaiman and Tema East constituencies of Greater Accra, Nana Kwame Bediako presented himself as a transformative figure poised to revolutionize the country’s development if elected in the upcoming December 7 election.

Welcomed enthusiastically into Ashaiman Constituency by a massive crowd, the leader of the New Force Movement marked the apex of the movement’s road show in Accra’s Ashaiman and Tema East constituencies.

The road show aimed to bolster support for the New Force Movement and saw Ashaiman, already bustling, gridlocked with eager constituents vying for Nana Kwame Bediako’s branded t-shirts and other memorabilia.

Engaging market women and eligible voters, the founder urged them to consider him as the next leader to rescue the country from its current state, which he attributed to the dominance of the National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party.

Bediako articulated his revolutionary vision, stating, ”I am bringing the sixteen regional revolutions. It seeks to empower the youth and rally them for positive change.”

“We don’t want to export our raw materials again, but we will refine them here and create jobs for ourselves”.

Bediako promised a comprehensive manifesto focused on youth empowerment.

The entourage then proceeded to Tema East Constituency, where constituents advocated for a youthful leadership choice for the nation.

The New Force Movement plans to extend its road show to other cities in the near future.

It will be a miracle if Cheddar garners 100K votes in December polls – Dennis Miracles

Director of Communications for the NPP 2024 Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has expressed skepticism about Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), leader of the New Force Movement, making a significant impact in the upcoming December 7 general election.

Aboagye dismissed the ability of “third force” political parties to secure 100,000 votes, asserting that Ghana’s electorate is diverse beyond Accra.

Cheddar, gaining popularity as an independent presidential candidate, aims to create millionaires and drive industrialization if elected, touring the country to convey his vision.

Aboagye argued that contesting Ghana’s election demands serious investment and sustained momentum, highlighting the election’s focus on VP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia versus former President John Dramani Mahama.

“The country has several areas that need to be addressed. What you do is analyse it and determine which aspect of it you believe is working for you and which aspect isn’t working for you to make your decision.

“Let’s also accept that Ghana is not Accra. And then let’s also understand that beyond the macroeconomy, everybody’s microeconomy is different. Our micro-economies are not the same,” he said.

Acknowledging economic challenges under the NPP, Aboagye stressed regional economic differences and questioned Cheddar’s electoral reach, suggesting national elections require extensive groundwork and preparation.

“The next election, predominantly the choice Dr Bawumia and former President John Mahama, that’s what we have. That’s the decision we have to make.”

“Without any disrespect to them, to go into a national election is a big deal. You can’t jump into it in the middle of the day.

“None of them can even gather more than 100,000 votes… I doubt he [Chedda] can even do a 100,000-vote.”

Leader and founder of the New Force Movement, also known as Cheddar, Nana Kwame Bediako, came under serious public scrutinity and attack after his remarks of allegedly dredging the sea to Kumasi.

Even though some groups such as the Organised Labour supported his ‘vision’ many Ghanaians still live in disbelief of his ability to dredge a sea to the landlocked Kumasi.

In light of this, the New Force leader has come clear on his comments explaining to Peace FM’s Kwame Sefa Kayi on Kokrokoo morning Show on May 28, 2024 during an interview.

He explained that his mention of Ashanti Region is as a result of what he calls the region’s ‘problem’ with water and as an ardent believer of industrialization and large scale business which is mostly aided by the sea(Water) dredging in Kumasi would give access to the region.

His comments according to him was a means to create awareness and enlighten Ghanaians on the ‘good’ hidden in some water bodies and the need to take advantage of them.

“What I said was dredging, and this thing every country has done some before. If you want to increase in purification, farming you dredge.

There are so many things water does. What I am trying to make Ghanaians understand is, of all the water bodies we have in Ghana, none of them has ever been connected, never used before.

So that was the awareness I was trying to create that we need to start dredging out water for irrigation, purification others to aid industrialization. I only used Asante Region as a case because we don’t have a sea.

The goal is to bring speed by utilizing our water and not to dredge for us to go to the beach and have fun” he stated.

I leave you to God for lying about being the man behind the mask – Cheddar to Sam Ankrah

Founder of The New Force, a political movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has formerly reacted to the stolen identity saga over who was the originator of the man behind the mask.

In 2023, The New Force billboards were sighted almost all over the country with the identity of the originator hidden behind a mask.

In November, independent presidential aspirant, Dr. Sam Ankrah, was in the news following the launch of his ‘No Masked Promises’ campaign and was linked to the New Force.

Following this, The New Force refuted media reportage that independent presidential hopeful and businessman, Sam Ankrah, is the man behind the mask.

In a statement dated November 20, 2023, the movement indicated that Sam Ankrah has nothing to do with their campaign.

The New Force accused the presidential hopeful of trying to steal the ideas of young Ghanaians to run a political campaign.

“Our attention has been drawn to certain images circulated by one Sam Ankrah on social media fraudulently purporting to be the originator of the viral “The Man in the Mask” campaign created by #TheNewForce. We have also noticed subsequent media publications commissioned by him projecting himself to be “The Man in the Mask.”

“We wish to state categorically that the said Sam Ankrah has no connection to the creative concept, design, and inventive process that developed the “The Man in the Mask” campaign.

“We are disappointed that Mr. Sam Ankrah has sought to deliberately exploit the ingenuity of young Ghanaians and coopted their vision and creativity to project dubious political ambitions.

“We consider his conduct to be reprehensible and evidence of a lack of credibility that undermines him as a person as well as someone capable of leading a new political vision for a country that is in need of a clean break from the kind of dirty politics we witness on a daily basis,” part of the statement reads.

But Mr Sam Ankrah dismissed claims of misappropriating the intellectual property of the ‘Man in the Mask’ campaign.

“At no point during my campaign have I purported or expressly claimed to be the originator of the so-called ‘Man in the Mask’ campaign. Neither has he claimed anywhere that he is the ‘Man in the Mask.’

At the time of launching his campaign and disseminating his political messages, I refute the existence of a legal or natural person(s) by the name ‘The Man in the Mask’ and #TheNewForce.’ Furthermore, I had no knowledge of any intellectual property rights vested in that person(s) or name,” he insisted.

Seven months ago, The New Force stated that it was filing a complaint against Ankrah at the Electoral Commission because his action amounted to a violation of the Political Parties Act 2000.

“On the advice of our lawyers, our team will be filing a complaint with the Electoral Commission against him for violating Section 6 of the Political Parties Act 2000 (Act 526).”

But the movement failed to live by its word. In a recent interview with Nana Kwame Bediako on Peace FM, Cheddar noted that, with regard to the alleged identity theft, he leaves it in the hands of God almighty.

Even Trump, Obama took money from citizens in their bid to become president – Cheddar defends Save Ghana Fund

Founder of the political movement The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, has assured Ghanaians that he has no intention of deceiving them in his quest to become president.

In an interview on TV3, Mr. Bediako, also known as Cheddar, emphasized that his virtual crowdfunding platform, the “Save Ghana Fund,” aims to raise GHC100 million from the public for projects and campaign efforts ahead of the elections.

He assured that this initiative is not designed to syphon money from innocent citizens.

Mr. Bediako further explained that it is reasonable for a leader to seek support from citizens, noting that such practices are common in the Western world.

“When you go to the Western world, anyone who wants to be a leader, goes to seek funding from the nation, asking them to donate. Whether it was Obama who was poor before becoming president, or Trump who was extremely rich before becoming president.

“You need the people to empower. You need the people to put you in that position,” he said.

Mr Bediako further added that “When you come to Africa, it is completely reverse. The politician will go to the people and say take money, go and vote for me and when they become president, they take the money hundred times.”

According to him, he is well-to-do and does not need to dupe Ghanaians to become rich. He added that such a perception could come from ignorant people.

“A GHC100 million is a lot of money but I have that same money just to buy a house in LA. I have worked hard to get me some money and invest hundreds of millions in dollars in the country that I am from. So I don’t think I need their money to make a ponzi scheme to become rich. Then I think it is ignorance. People will say what they like,” he said.

A Ponzi scheme is a type of investment scam that promises high returns with little or no risk to investors. The scheme generates returns for earlier investors by acquiring new investors. Instead of investing the funds, the scheme operator uses them to pay returns to earlier investors or to withdraw for personal use.

The New Force has unveiled its virtual crowdfunding platform, named the “Save Ghana Fund.”

In a video message released on May 6th as part of the launch, the leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, called on the people of Ghana to support the movement and its cause.

Mr Bediako’s message urges the nation to break away from the culture of political candidates buying votes, highlighting how this practice undermines the genuine and free choice of voters and distorts the true aspirations and investments of the people.

“A call to you and to everyone who cares about the future of Ghana: The New Force movement seeks to ensure our commitment to the nation and to each other in the pursuit of equality, empowerment, and equity for all in our society. The campaign is built on three key values: visibility, accessibility, and transparency.”

In his brief video message accompanying the launch, the leader of The New Force movement emphasized that vote-buying tarnishes democracy by perpetuating the mismanagement of the nation’s resources and fostering a culture of corruption.

Mr Bediako further explained that it is not far-fetched for a leader to engage citizens for support. He noted such practice can be seen in the western world.

Founder of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has noted that he dropped out of school at age 18 to pursue his own business.

He was studying business administration at Westminster University in the United Kingdom. In an interview, Cheddar noted that he sought to gain his skills practically, instead of being fed with the knowledge in a lecture room.

As such, Cheddar does not have a degree from any recognised tertiary institution in the country or any part of the world.

Asked whether he has any degree from any university during an interview on Citi TV’s Face to Face show, he said, “I don’t.”

The host, Umaru Sanda, then asserted that should he, Cheddar, want to fill out a form for a job qualification, his highest qualification would be a Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) certificate.

“Well, if you can call it that,” Cheddar replied.

Cheddar dismissed the assertion that, as a president without a university degree, he would not be able to lead his subjects, who are professors and doctors.

Several netizens who have reacted to this video indicated that it does not take one’s academic qualifications to govern; hence, Cheddar would have no issues being president with his current academic qualifications.

Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, believes that a strong partnership with the TUC will ensure the successful implementation of his proposed policies for the country.

Mr. Bediako made these remarks during a meeting with the TUC leadership in Accra, where he outlined his industrial policies for Ghana.

His plan includes initiatives to combat corruption, improve agriculture, enhance education and healthcare, and address climate change, among other areas.

“If you look at the river systems, when you dredge the Pra, Tano, Bia and the rest, it easily links to Cape Coast. And his point was that why should we use our roads to cart things?

“We can use our river systems, once we dredge properly, the vessels can use it and transport it from Accra to the North.

“God has given us a huge river that we are not using because many people don’t really understand that policy,” he said.

Cheddar promises to restrict activities of foreign traders in the local market

Leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar has pledged to place an embargo on foreign traders who have infiltrated local markets.

He believes this measure will help prevent the depreciation of the local currency.

During an interactive session with members of the Ghana Union of Traders as part of his manifesto compilation, Nana Kwame Bediako expressed concerns about the free fall of the Ghana cedi against the dollar and emphasized the need to stabilize the currency.

He announced plans to introduce an embargo on foreign goods to protect Ghanaian businesses, following engagements with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) to incorporate their concerns into his manifesto.

Mr Bediako outlined a comprehensive industrialization plan aimed at driving economic growth, creating opportunities for the youth, and supporting local businesses.

He stressed the need for innovative business ideas and a shift from traditional reliance on natural resources. Highlighting the struggles of local companies facing collapse due to high taxes, he promised to implement reasonable tax policies to protect and promote indigenous companies.

Mr Bediako lamented that the depreciation of the cedi is a consequence of not creating value within the country. He urged GUTA members to position themselves strategically in the marketplace.

“GUTA, start thinking about how you can take the position of the foreign traders here. Let us focus on creating distribution channels. The supply chain will launch us into great wealth.”

The GUTA President, Dr. Joseph Obeng, also highlighted several challenges facing traders and businesses, including high inflation and excessive taxes, which are affecting their operations.

He asserted that meaningful economic reform in Ghana can only be achieved through greater representation of business interests in politics.

“Business leaders have to take over the governance of Ghana in order to stimulate economic growth,” Dr. Obeng declared. He expressed concern over the growing disillusionment within the business community towards mainstream politicians, stating, “People are tired of mainstream politicians. It is time for business-minded people to take over the leadership of this nation.”

Dr. Obeng also noted the high cost of doing business in Ghana, exacerbated by steep taxes and import duties. He warned mainstream politicians that the upcoming election might be their last chance to redeem themselves in the eyes of the business community.

“Mainstream politicians should pay attention to conversations going on and take Ghanaians seriously by handling matters of the economy more seriously,” he urged.

Nana Kwame Bediako echoed these sentiments, highlighting the critical impact of economic instability on businesses.

“When the currency is not doing well, businesses will not do well. The rising inflation rate is killing businesses,” he said.

He called for a governance model that fosters progress and prosperity, advocating for internal wealth creation.

  • Cheddar promises to remove excessive taxes on traders

Cheddar promises to remove excessive taxes on traders

Leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, has pledged to eliminate excessive taxes imposed on Ghanaian traders if elected President in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

He believes these taxes are severely hindering the wealth generation potential of traders, leaving them in hardship.

Mr Bediako made these remarks during an introductory meeting with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) in Accra.

The meeting aimed to understand the current challenges faced by the union and explore how both parties could collaborate to develop meaningful policies to address issues within the Ghanaian business landscape.

“I can’t stand here and say that I’ll create free taxes once you start trading, but definitely I’ll look into it and make it reasonable overnight. Because there’s no point if that’s the only job we have as part of the nation, thus, importing from other countries then at the end of the day, we spend 60 or 70% and by the time we sell, the 30% profit we’re supposed to make is gone either by interest from what we borrowed or by just living the hard life. So, I would definitely revise the taxes.”

Some affected students have managed to pay off outstanding fees, but the university is now unable to intervene in the Home Office process, the BBC understands.

A university spokesman said: “Teesside University is proud to be a global institution with a diverse student population but is also very aware of its obligations regarding visa issuance and compliance.

“These strict external regulations ensure that the university fully supports a robust immigration system and is outside of the university’s control.”

The spokesman added it was “aware of the challenging financial situation faced by some students” and had “actively offered bespoke payment plans where requested”.

“This option has been taken up by many of our international students; however, some students have still defaulted on these revised payment plans,” he said.

The Home Office said a decision to offer or withdraw visa sponsorship rested with the sponsoring institution.

A spokesman said wherever a visa was shortened or cancelled, individuals should “take steps to regularise their stay or make arrangements to leave the UK”.

He also mentioned plans to impose embargoes on foreign traders operating within the country, aiming to ensure that the wealth generated remains within Ghana.

“I want to infuse industrialization into your trading, that a lot of things that you go to China to bring would be made here and you would be able to distribute it. But before I implement that plan, I’d have to place an embargo for you traders by stopping the outsiders who are invading your trading in the country,” he said.

“Our major concern as businesses now are with exchange rates. If there’s no stability in your currency, you cannot even industrialize because the products of your industry is not going to be competitive in the sub-region. So, there’s a need therefore that we do everything to stabilize our currency. Our capital is being spirited away and now we have crossed the threshold of 15 cedis to a dollar.

“We are also proposing that our tax and duty system be simplified and thrown down to the barest minimum to make tax payment affordable and that will definitely ensure compliance”.

He refrained from disclosing the financial investment in his campaign, including the cost of his widespread billboards.

Cheddar will have a bad influence on the youth if he becomes president – Blakk Rasta

Ghanaian media personality and musician, Blakk Rasta, has expressed concern about the potential impact of Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), the founder of the New Force, if elected president.

During an interview with Onua TV, Blakk Rasta highlighted Cheddar’s disregard for education as a worrying factor.

He emphasized that Cheddar often showcases his wealth and diminishes the significance of education, promoting the misconception that material riches hold more value than knowledge.

Blakk Rasta underscored the dangers of Cheddar‘s attitude, stating that it poses a threat to societal values and ethical principles.

He referenced a recent statement by Cheddar, where he implied that he would have foregone education if he had known he would achieve such wealth at a young age.

Blakk Rasta condemned such remarks, asserting that they undermine the importance of education and contribute to a culture of corruption and moral decline.

“Cheddar, McDan, and Kennedy Agyapong are individuals who oppose education, often conflating wealth with knowledge. They frequently boast about their riches and seek to diminish the value of education by asserting that money holds greater importance.

“Their stance poses a danger to society, as they propagate harmful ideologies. Recently, Cheddar even remarked that he would have foregone schooling had he known he would amass significant wealth at a young age. Such a statement is deeply concerning,” he added.

In recent developments, Cheddar has announced his intention to run for the presidency in the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.

Despite encountering obstacles in registering his political party, he disclosed his alternative plan to run as an independent candidate during an interview on The Point of View aired on Citi TV.

Founder of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known as Cheddar, has revealed that he was arrested for driving and clubbing during his stay in London, attributing the incident to youthful recklessness.

Cheddar revealed this during a live Q&A session on a TikTok platform.

However, he refuted claims of involvement in fraudulent activities in London, dismissing them as baseless attempts to tarnish his reputation.

He characterized these accusations as politically motivated maneuvers aimed at undermining his campaign, lacking any factual foundation.

“I don’t have a criminal record in London. I grew up in London. From 1994 to 2001 was when I moved from London to Ghana. In the times I was in London, there were times I was arrested for driving wrongly, clubbing and these were when I was young. I don’t have a criminal record for being arrested in London. So if someone is saying otherwise let the person prove it”.

“I’m not bothered by the allegations against me because I see them as part of life’s challenges. It’s ironic that they’re attempting to pull me down now that I’ve reached this level. However, I trust in God to handle those individuals. If they have any evidence of criminal activity, they should present it. But let me be clear, I have never been arrested before. In England, people can be arrested for minor offenses, but arrests are based on truth,” he added.
