Ken Agyapong nearly gives Sly Tetteh a showdown in Parliament

Drama unfolded in Parliament on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, as tension between Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) colleague from Ngleshie-Amanfrom, Sylvester Tetteh, nearly escalated into a physical confrontation.

The cause of the disagreement remains unclear, but a viral video circulating on social media captured Kennedy Agyapong expressing his displeasure with Sylvester Tetteh’s proximity to him on the floor of Parliament.

Sly Tetteh attempted to walk away, but a comment he made seemed to further provoke Ken Agyapong, prompting him to pursue Sly Tetteh, audibly calling him a “foolish boy.”

Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, intervened swiftly, escorting Sylvester Tetteh out of the chamber to defuse the tense situation.

Ken Agyapong, still visibly upset, returned to his seat, with MP for Okaikoi South, Patrick Yaw Boamah, later approaching him in an attempt to calm the situation.

Reports suggest that the altercation was sparked when Sylvester Tetteh attempted to exchange pleasantries with Kennedy Agyapong.

During a lavish birthday celebration for his wife, Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, took to the dance floor in high spirits.

The extravagant event, which occurred on January 1, 2024, saw the attendance of close associates and a diverse array of individuals from across the country.

In a video sighted on X platform, the lawmaker, clad in a white Lacoste shirt and blue trousers, was enthusiastically dancing to the rhythm of “Broda Broda” by Bisa Kdei.

Ken Agyapong appeared visibly elated as he joined several male companions on the dance floor, thoroughly enjoying the festivities.

Earlier in the evening, his wife, Christine, along with several of their children, are reported to have expressed gratitude to well-wishers with a brief ‘Thank You’ message.

Subsequently, Mr Agyapong and his family came together to cut the birthday cake, marking the joyous occasion.

  • Asenso-Boakye fans host ‘kokonte’ party after NPP primary victory to ‘spite’ Ken Agyapong

Asenso-Boakye fans host ‘kokonte’ party after NPP primary victory to ‘spite’ Ken Agyapong

Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has revealed the rationale behind his supporters organizing a ‘konkonte’ party to celebrate his recent victory in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

The motivation, as explained by the MP, stemmed from negative remarks made by Kennedy Agyapong (Assin Central MP), who attempted to belittle him by referring to his late mother’s occupation.

“When Honourable [Ken Agyapong] came, he was denigrating the job of my mother that fed many people in the community and he said that my mother is a kokonte seller, so it infuriated [people],” Asenso-Boakye explained during an interview on Starr FM’s Starr Chat on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

He clarified that his late mother actually sold rice balls, known locally as “omu tuo,” not kokonte.

Asenso-Boakye pointed out that Ken Agyapong’s attempt to demean his late mother’s work angered his supporters and constituents, prompting them to organize the ‘kokonte’ party as a triumphant response to celebrate his victory over Ralph Agyapong.

“I think it doesn’t matter whether it’s omu tuo or kokonte; they are all local foods that are prepared and sold. So a lot of people were very upset in the community. Market women, widows; my mother was a widow, and given the sacrifices that my mother made to make sure that I had a very decent self… that is why some people decided to have the kokonte party, and it was very massive,” he remarked.

Asenso-Boakye, who also serves as the Minister for Works and Housing, secured a commanding victory in the January 27 contest with 78.22% of the total votes cast, amounting to 650 votes. On the contrary, Mr. Agyapong garnered 181 votes, representing 21.78% of the overall vote count.

During the heated campaign, Ken Agyapong, the current Member of Parliament for Assin Central, and former NPP flagbearer contestant, leveled allegations of corruption against Asenso-Boakye. In response, the MP dismissed all the allegations as baseless.

  • NPP should take Ken Agyapong’s running mate comment seriously – Allotey Jacob

NPP should take Ken Agyapong’s running mate comment seriously – Allotey Jacob

The former Central Region Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has shared crucial insights with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His guidance is directed towards the Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, who has pledged active support for Energy Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh in the bid to become Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate.

During a discussion on Peace FM, Allotey Jacobs underscored the pivotal role played by Kennedy Agyapong within the party and how his support could significantly impact the party’s success.

Describing Mr Agyapong as a potential leading member, Allotey Jacobs noted, “He has positioned himself as a potential leading member of the NPP, that in terms of anything, people will rally behind him.”

Advocating for proactive measures, Allotey Jacobs urged the party to address any existing tensions between Kennedy Agyapong and the party.

“What Kennedy Agyapong said about campaigning for the party if NAPO is elected as Bawumia’s running mate. He has positioned himself as a potential leading member of the NPP, that in terms of anything people will rally behind him.

“The party must call him to see how best they can solve any tension between him and the party, he still holds part of the key to breaking the 8,” Former Central Region Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey Jacobs advised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Recognizing Mr Agyapong’s influential role, he stressed the importance of engaging with him to ensure unity and effective campaigning leading up to the elections.

Recently, Kennedy Agyapong had expressed his exclusive support for the Energy Minister as the only individual he will endorse for the role of running mate to NPP Flagbearer Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the bid to ‘break the 8.’

Addressing delegates of the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region ahead of the January 27 primaries, where parliamentary candidates will be selected for NPP-held constituencies, Mr Agyapong praised NAPO’s positive rapport with the party’s rank and file.

He emphasized the importance of NAPO’s ability to energize party members and attract victory in the 2024 elections.

“If you go to NAPO’s office, you will be marveled at the way he relates with party people. He takes care of party people. If we had 5 of his kind in the party, NPP would have been better off and far ahead of the NDC. Given the current circumstances where many of our members are despondent, selecting NAPO will be the only way to bring back the needed energy for victory in the 2024 elections,” Mr Agyapong said.

Ken Agyapong added, “If anybody else asks me to campaign for him or her to be selected as running mate, I won’t, except  Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.”

NAPO is my only pick – Ken Agyapong affirms for Dr Bawumia’s running mate

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central , Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed his exclusive support for Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as the only individual he will endorse for the role of running mate to NPP Flagbearer Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the bid to ‘break the 8.’

Addressing delegates of the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region ahead of the January 27 primaries, where parliamentary candidates will be selected for NPP-held constituencies, Agyapong praised NAPO’s positive rapport with the party’s rank and file.

This position aligns with the sentiments of grassroots and party members who believe that the running mate should come from the Ashanti Region.

Political analysts also point to NAPO’s grassroots connection and commendable performance as Minister for Education and Energy, suggesting he could help Dr. Bawumia secure support from floating voters.

Rumors circulate that Dr. Bawumia is preparing to submit his running mate’s name to the NPP National Council for approval after the party’s primaries on January 27, 2024.

Meanwhile, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has filed his nomination for re-election as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Manyhia South in Kumasi, marking his fifth bid for the position.

In a Facebook post on December 20, he expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of NPP members in the constituency.

Kennedy Agyapong promises to campaign vigorously for NPP if Napo is made running mate

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has declared his unwavering commitment to spearhead an energetic campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, be chosen as the running mate.

In a notable endorsement, it has been asserted that the Energy Minister stands out as the sole member of the cabinet whose interpersonal connections with party members are truly commendable, prompting recognition that is worth highlighting.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, an individual of such caliber merits a spot on the New Patriotic Party’s ticket if the party aims to secure victory and break the eight-year cycle.

Characterizing all other ministers as unappreciative individuals, he went on to emphasize that he would refuse to engage in campaign activities for the NPP if any alternative candidate is selected as the running mate.

“Some ministers who have received my help in the past are now ungrateful. Apart from NAPO, every minister is ungrateful. If you mention NAPO as my running mate, today I will come and campaign for the NPP. If they mention any other person, I will not campaign”.

“When you go to the office of NAPO and you see how he relates to party people it is so appealing. I am telling you this today,” he told party delegates in Kumasi.

  • Lawyer Raph Agyapong clarifies Ken Agyapong’s statement on Justice Sau’s residence

MP aspirant for the Bantama constituency and brother of Assin Fosu MP, Lawyer Raph Agyapong, has refuted a report implying that his brother, Kennedy Agyapong, accused the former Chief Justice Anin Yeboah of colluding with Asenso Boakye to sell a residence belonging to former Supreme Court Judge Justice Marfo-Sau.

He emphasized that, in Kennedy Agyapong’s address to the Bantama delegates, at no point did he accuse the former Justice of selling the residence to Asenso Boakye.

He clarified that his statement was far from accusing the former Chief Justice, adding that Asenso Boakye sold the said property without the knowledge or consent of the former Chief Justice.

“At no point did Agyapong say that His Lordship, the former Chief Justice Anin Yeboah (retired) has sold the said property with Hon. Asenso Boakye. Rather, he was emphatic in his statement that Hon Asenso Boakye had not obtained the consent of the former Chief Justice for the sale of the property. Thus, Hon Asenso Boakye has sold the said property without the knowledge or consent of the former Chief Justice,” he told this reporter.

He further continued that the former aspiring presidential candidate only said, upon the death of His Lordship Justice Marful Sau JSC, Francis Asenso Boakye, who is the present Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency and also doubles as Minister for Works and Housing of Ghana, consulted His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah CJ (retired) concerning a proposed sale of His Lordship Marful Sau’s official residence.

“The CJ objected to the sale of the said residence since it is an official residence and thus state property. Hon Asenso Boakye then sold the said state property without the consent or input of the former CJ”.

Therefore, he said, the statement that was attributed to Ken Agyapong as having been made at a delegates’ meeting on January 12, 2024 in Kumasi is not accurate.

He is therefore urging the general public to disregard any such reportage that seems to suggest that Mr. Kennedy Agyapong accused Asenso Boakye for selling the deceased Supreme Court Judge’s residence together with the former Chief Justice.

“Asenso Boakye had not obtained the consent of the former Chief Justice for the sale of the property. Thus, Hon Asenso Boakye has sold the said property without the knowledge or consent of former Chief Justice”.

If I leave NPP, I’ll collapse the party by revealing dirty secrets – Ken Agyapong

Assin Central MP, Ken Agyapong has vowed to collapse the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should he decide to exit the political party.

He said he was going to do so by revealing the party’s dirty secrets. He made the remarks in a video making rounds on social media in which he was seen engaging some members of the party.

In the said video, Mr Agyapong poured out his frustrations over how some people in the party have unfairly treated him.

Venting his spleen, he alleged that some members of the party including MP for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, MP for Banatama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank etc. have all grossly disrespected him.

He recalled for instance one event which he said took place at the office of the Adansi-Asokwa MP and Minister for Trade, Kobina Tahiru Hammond (K.T Hammond), which did not go down well with him.

“Hawa Koomson told me in front of my wife at K.T Hammond’s office that if I think I’m insane, she will prove to me that she’s more insane than I am,” he recalled.

He said, should he decide to take the issues seriously, he will turn into a rebel and haunt down some key members of the party and eventually destroy the party.

Ken Agyapong boasts of his wealth again!; vows to outdo Asenso’s GHS5K to Bantama delegates

Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong is determined to take any necessary measures to secure the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary ticket for his brother in the Bantama Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

Consequently, he has pledged financial support to Ralph Opoku Agyapong’s campaign with the goal of unseating the incumbent Francis Asenso-Boakye in the primaries scheduled for November 27.

Speaking to delegates on a campaign stop recently, Agyapong said: “Don’t vote for someone who would become pompous and forget his roots. You have long invested in this party, what benefit have you gotten?”

“I will be like a watchman over him and scrutinize how he interacts with you. Vote for my younger brother and see the amount of development that will reach Bantama,” he stressed.

Regarding the matter of providing money to voters, he claimed that Asenso-Boakye had intended to offer delegates 5,000 Ghana cedis, but he expressed his willingness to provide an even higher amount.

“He says he is going to pay 5,000 cedis, tell him to bring it on; I will show him that I got real money. They come and deceive you…. On November 4, they deployed threats and money, but how much of that money is left today?

“Pompous leaders are humbled by God and time. I am not in Bantama but people urge me to help my brother to run because Asenso is disrespectful. I don’t know and I don’t belong here but such an impression is not good,” he added.

Asenso-Boakye and Ralph Agyapong are set for a showdown on January 27, 2023, when the delegates of the party in constituencies with incumbent MPs will go to the polls to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general election.

  • Kennedy Agyapong would definitely become president of Ghana, it’s his destiny – Prophet

Kennedy Agyapong would definitely become president of Ghana, it’s his destiny – Prophet

Self-proclaimed prophet Eric Boahen Uche has boldly stated that Kennedy Agyapong, a politician and businessman, will eventually assume the presidency of Ghana.

During a recent interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show with Roselyn Felli, the prophet asserted that the destiny of the Assin North Member of Parliament includes leading the country.

“Kennedy Agyapong would definitely become president of Ghana; there is no two ways about it. He’s destined to become president,” he reiterated.

Prophet Uche also highlighted certain noteworthy qualities of Mr. Agyapong that, in his opinion, will bolster his likelihood of becoming president. He emphasized that Kennedy Agyapong’s respectfulness and overall character make him a strong candidate for an exceptional presidency.

Recounting his encounter with the Assin North MP’, the prophet said, “When he and Kweku Annan fired shots at men of God, I had to go to him on behalf of a fellow pastor they had decided to criticize. On my arrival at his place, he came by himself to escort me from my car to his office.”

As Kennedy’s name increasingly becomes linked with presidential aspirations, the prophet’s pronouncements have introduced a new layer of complexity and intrigue into the country’s political narrative.

While some may approach these predictions with skepticism, Prophet Uche’s words have sparked curiosity and speculation regarding Kennedy Agyapong’s political trajectory among those who place belief in prophetic insights.

Kennedy Agyapong surprised political analysts by garnering over 71,000 votes in the presidential primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing the second position after Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received just over 118,000 votes to become the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections.

Even more surprising to many was Agyapong’s ability to secure the second position after Bawumia in the party’s super delegates conference, challenging initial expectations that the primary contest was primarily between former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Bawumia.

You need to be the next president of Ghana – Group tells Ken Agyapong

Supporters of Kennedy Agyapong, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, have urged the politician to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections.

This call follows Agyapong’s loss in the NPP’s presidential primary to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The group, led by Kwabena Yankey, cited Agyapong’s significant contributions to Ghana’s economic growth, including investments in job creation and infrastructure development, as the primary reasons for their support and belief in his suitability for the presidency.

“We the supporters of Kennedy Agyapong representing the 37 percent of the NPP delegates, wish to inform the general public that Kennedy Agyapong needs to be the next president of Ghana. We are advocating for Kennedy Agyapong and we urge him to stand as an independent candidate for a massive win in 2024.”

Acknowledging recent internal struggles within the NPP, Yankey maintained that Agyapong’s independent candidacy is seen as the best hope for national progress.

“Kennedy Agyapong renowned for his outspoken nature and unwavering love, has demonstrated his dedication through his actions and spearheaded the establishment of companies that employ 7,000 workers. His initiative to construct a state-of-the-art cardio hospital whose investment surpasses $7 million underscores his commitment to the well-being of Ghana.

“Despite the recent setbacks within the NPP, we continue to believe that supporting him as an independent candidate is crucial for Ghanaians to foster growth, innovation and social welfare of the nation.”

Opambour defends Ken Agyapong’s performance at NPP primaries

Opambour, the founder and leader of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, comes to the defense of Kennedy Agyapong’s performance in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.

Opambour criticizes those who have scrutinized Agyapong’s efforts, especially considering the substantial crowd he attracted during his pre-election walk.

Opambour emphasizes that individuals mocking Agyapong for supposedly finishing last are unfair, highlighting that he secured the second position among the four candidates and deserves recognition.

The clergyman shares his views on his Prophet 1 TV channel, as reported by GhanaWeb, where he not only chides critics but also underscores that Agyapong did not finish last, contrary to public perception.

The interaction unfolds between Opambour and his Junior pastor during the broadcast.

Junior pastor: People are saying that Alan’s crowd during the walk does not mean anything because before the NPP primaries, Ken Agyapong had a similar crowd during his walk but he finished last in the elections.

Opambour: Listen to what I am saying, what did they say?

Junior pastor: So people are saying that when Kennedy Agyapong embarked on a walk a lot of people followed him but when the results came he was last.

Opambour: He was not last, he was second. That is different from being last.

    Junior pastor: Noted, prophet.

His response follows Alan Kyerematen’s ‘Afafranto walk’ in Kumasi, which drew a massive crowd, garnering public attention and leading many to believe he is a formidable contender in the 2024 general elections.

On the other hand, some remain skeptical, asserting that the crowd’s impact on the 2024 general elections might be limited, citing Kennedy Agyapong’s similar large following during the NPP primaries, where he fell short of triumph.

During the NPP primaries, Kennedy Agyapong secured the second position with 71,996 votes, representing 35.52% of the total valid votes. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious with 61.47% of the total votes cast.

I am not giving up on my vision to become president because of unemployed youth – Ken Agyapong

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has stated that he will not relent on pursuing his presidential ambition because of the challenges faced by unemployed youth.

His concerns stems from the rapid departure of young people from Ghana in search of greener pastures

Agyapong criticizes corrupt leaders for mismanaging the abundant resources in Ghana, resulting in an unbearable economic situation for numerous young individuals.

Despite these challenges, he remains committed to his presidential ambitions, emphasizing that if elected, he will implement measures to improve the country’s economic conditions for the benefit of young people.

“I’m told several youths leave Ghana with the aim of getting Nursing jobs, but after paying the charges they can’t even get jobs. God has endowed our country and what we need is leaders who act and not leaders who speak just English and cannot put food on your table. I’m not giving up on my vision and all I’m telling you is to pray for me for long life.”

“All I said and the mistakes I pointed out, I will work on them. I would have retired completely, but when I look at the young men and women without jobs in the country, I cannot give up. We will continue to fight. I’m not giving up,” he told members of his support group We’re for Ken Worldwide during a meeting in the US city of Minnesota..

Kennedy Agyapong came second at the end of the November 4 presidential primaries after accruing 37.41% of all votes cast against vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 61.43%.

He assured support the flagbearer-elect, Vice-President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in all his endeavours with his new position.

However he will still take up the opportunity again to contest for a presidential position.

Three NPP MPs Kennedy Agyapong reportedly does not want to work with again

A video circulating on YouTube features an individual claiming to possess insider information about a purported meeting between Vice President Bawumia and Hon. Kennedy Agyapong. In the video, the unidentified informant provides unconfirmed details about the discussions that purportedly transpired during this meeting.

Reportedly, Vice President Bawumia, who emerged victorious in the flagbearer race against Kennedy Agyapong and two others on Nov 4th, visited the influential NPP figure. The exact date of the alleged encounter remains undisclosed, with indications that the visit occurred after unsuccessful attempts to reach Kennedy Agyapong.

According to the individual in the video, the meeting, which reportedly lasted until 1:00 am, revolved around the potential contribution of Kennedy Agyapong to the NPP’s 2024 election campaign.

The informant claims that during the conversation, the delegation, including Vice President Bawumia, offered apologies for any negative actions or words directed at Kennedy Agyapong leading up to the Nov 4th primaries.

Notably, the video alleges that three names—Miracles Aboagye, Hawa Koomson, and Ursula Owusu—surfaced during the discussions. The claim is that, irrespective of any agreements made for the campaign, Kennedy Agyapong may allegedly prefer not to share the campaign platform with these three individuals. This decision, as per the informant, is significant, considering Agyapong’s previous support for Ursula Owusu during her constituency seat campaign.

It is essential to emphasize that the information presented in the video is unverified, and the claims made by the informant remain alleged and unconfirmed. The focus of the reported conversation was purportedly seeking forgiveness for perceived wrongs committed by party members against Kennedy Agyapong, with an appeal to move past past grievances and prioritize the party’s and the country’s best interests.

Ken did not shake me because he was engaged in a conversation – Kumawu MP debunks snub claims

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, Ernest Yaw Anim, has denied allegations of being ignored by Ken Agyapong during the 2024 Budget Presentation in Parliament.

As the anticipation for Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s 2024 Budget presentation mounted in Parliament on Wednesday, 15th November 2023, an unexpected incident unfolded involving MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong. In a candid video, Agyapong was captured declining a handshake from a fellow NPP MP who appeared eager to greet him.

Present in the company of Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, MP for Kwadaso constituency, and Ernest Yaw Anim, the Member of Parliament for Kumawu, as well as two other MPs whose identities were unclear in the video, the tension between Agyapong and his colleague became palpable.

Despite receiving handshakes from others, Mr Agyapong conspicuously ignored one specific MP, sparking speculation about the nature of their relationship and the cause of the apparent rift.

According to Mr. Anim, there was no deliberate snubbing by Ken Agyapong; instead, Ken was involved in a conversation with the MP for Sefwi-Akontombra during a brief break before the budget reading.

Mr. Anim clarified that he and MP for Bosome Freho, Akwasi Darko, approached Ken Agyapong to exchange greetings at that time. However, Ken was already engrossed in a discussion with Hon. Alex Tetteh, and due to the ongoing conversation, he did not notice their presence.

“There was no intentional disregard from Ken Agyapong; rather, Ken was engrossed in a conversation with Sefwi-Akontombra MP during a brief break before the budget reading.”

“At the time, Akwasi Boateng joined us to greet Ken, but due to the ongoing discussion, Ken’s attention was focused, and as a result, Akwasi Boateng couldn’t extend his greetings. It was a regular exchange of conversation and not indicative of any intentional disregard,” he said.

Kyei Baffour Tenkorang: “But that’s not leadership— everybody can’t be on your side. Competition is very much allowed in politics. After elections are over, friendship continues.”

Issah Yahaya: “Ken has gained my respect, I swear! God even likes those who don’t pretend. Well done Ken.”

Amy Gyenkel: “I just love this man, plain and no-nonsense person. They don’t know shame; after all, they did, they still want to get close. No entertaining them jor.”

Sumang Kavini: “I love his straightforwardness. Some of the MPs are hypocrites and ungrateful. I can’t wait for him to field his candidates in those constituencies to give them a real showdown.”

Nana Asare Edmund Hillary: “Gross immaturity, and people are praising this? Can you imagine this person wants to be a president? I like Ken as a person but sometimes he behaves too immature. If you want to be a president, you must learn to tolerate everybody who is a Ghanaian, including those who don’t like you.”

Enock Mensah Mega: “Some of his biggest political enemies were Koku Anyidoho, Muntaka, Kofi Adams, and Asiedu Nketia, but he’s best buddies with them today. What’s more mature than that? His problem is not about his colleague MPs not supporting him oo. His problem is those MPs he personally helped financially, gave them logistics and campaigned for them in their various constituencies to become MPs even as late as 2am risking his life, those were the same MPs who went out there in public to DISGRACE him, INSULT him, DISRESPECT him, and LIED about him all in the name of politics. Besides, he has the right to choose who he’ll greet or shake hands.”

Ken Agyapong prays long life for pastor who prophesied falsely against him

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has responded to a prophecy forecasting that he would receive no more than 16% of votes in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.

Prophet Paul Kusi Appiah of the Charisma Temple International Ministry stated that he was willing to be labeled a ‘false prophet’ if Agyapong exceeded the 16% prediction in the November 4 vote.

Following the primaries, Agyapong surpassed the forecasted margin, securing 37% of the votes compared to the eventual winner, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who obtained over 61%.

During a thanksgiving party over the weekend, where he addressed his campaign team and supporters from across the country, Agyapong spoke to those who doubted his strength and underestimated him.

“We went into a contest and as you know, you either win or lose. This contest was one man against the whole system. They underestimated me, when the election was getting close, I was told I will get 10% maximum. Others floated a research finding that I will get 15%, today they are all hiding,” he said to applause.

On Prophet Kusi Appaih, he submitted: “A pastor claimed if I got over 16%, he should die. But this evening I pray for God to grant him long life… I want to tell him that he who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day.

“So, I know there is time ahead of us. I beseech you all to pray for me to get long life with good health, with that, the will of God will surely be done,” he stressed.

    Aftermath of November 4

Following the November 4 vote, Dr. Bawumia secured victory in the party’s flagbearer contest by polling 61.47% of the total votes cast, representing nearly 200,000 delegates.

His nearest rival, Ken Agyapong, garnered a surprising 37.41%, eliciting commendation from party members who had previously criticized him during the campaigns.

This week, Bawumia visited Ken at his residence, indicating early efforts to bring him on board for the 2024 campaign.

I’ve silenced my ‘haters’ and they are all hiding now – Ken Agyapong after NPP primaries

Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has highlighted that the recent New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary on November 4 saw many individuals underestimating his influence in the political landscape.

Mr Agyapong stressed that his opponents consistently underestimated him, evident in their surprise at his securing over 37% of the votes. He pointed out the initial predictions suggesting he would receive less than 15% or at most 20%, noting that those who made such forecasts are now silent.

During an event in Accra on November 11, 2023, he noted that the race was essentially a clash between himself and the entire government of President Akufo-Addo.

“We all fought a good fight. We went into a contest and as you know, you either win or lose. This contest was one man against the whole system,” he said to cheers from the gathering that brought together campaign officers and supporters from across the country.

Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong has noted that the recent New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary on November 4 was, in essence, a showdown between himself and the entire government of President Akufo-Addo.

He made this known during an event in Accra to express gratitude to his campaign team and supporters on November 11, 2023.

Mr Agyapong emphasized that his opponents had continually underestimated him, evident in their surprise at his securing over 37% of the votes. He highlighted the initial predictions that he would receive less than 15% or at most 20%, noting that those who made such forecasts are now silent.

Bawumia is a unifying leader for visiting Ken Agyapong – Anyidoho

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his visit to Kennedy Agyapong following the presidential primary.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute viewed the Vice President’s action as a demonstration of unifying leadership, signifying an inclusive and open-hearted approach.

After his recent election as the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia made an unexpected visit to Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central MP, who secured second place in the primary. The meeting, conducted over dinner on Wednesday, aimed to rekindle the camaraderie between the two politicians.

Dr. Bawumia plans to visit other aspirants who participated in the primary, striving to mend relationships and foster unity.

Commending the Vice President’s actions, Koku Anyidoho drew parallels between this gesture and similar efforts he witnessed under the late former presidents Rawlings and Atta Mills within the NDC. He noted their endeavors to bring about harmony and unity, a contrast he suggested is lacking in the current NDC.

“Great move by Dr. Bawumia. Exhibiting signs of a great & unifying Leader with a BIG ACCOMMODATING heart. Great Leaders refuse to be petty and like the eagle ????, they glide with stormy winds.

“Ayekoo to DMB????????????????I saw Rawlings and President Atta-Mills employ the same unifying approach to leading the NDC at it worked well in bringing harmony behind the NDC for a collective common good.

“Unfortunately, John Mahama and Asiedu-Nketiah do not have such qualities and are busy destroying the NDC with their unacceptable extremely divisive and corrosive leadership styles,” parts of his post read.

You can’t handle Mahama and an internal coup d’état – Atik on pairing Ken Agyapong with Bawumia

General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed, has expressed pessimism towards suggestions that Kennedy Agyapong should become running mate for Dr Mahmudu Bawumia.

While acknowledging Ken’s potential, he refrains from endorsing him and expressing confidence in his composure during challenging situations.

He anticipates a tough period for the NPP, dealing with both Mahama as a formidable opponent and Ken Agyapong, who is likely to create challenges for party members.

“Kennedy will not be a bad idea to add but there are some things I don’t know how they will be able to manage…because he is a type that is free spirited. He would want to say what is on his mind and in so doing sometimes if you are not careful he won’t take things lightly even with the flag bearer. And that is where the internal coup will start. And you don’t want to be managing a tough opponent like Mahama and dealing with internal possible coup d’état,” Atik Mohammed explained.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong,  garnered substantial support during the NPP primaries.

With his significant appeal to the masses, some sections of the public have suggested a potential team-up with the Vice President for the 2024 general elections.

Individuals who spoke with the media on the possibility of having a Kennedy-Bawumia expressed varying opinions.

Some argued that for the sake of party unity, peace, and to maximise the NPP’s chances, it would be ideal to nominate Kennedy Agyapong as the running mate for Dr. Bawumia.

Coward! You should have left NPP like Alan to transform Ghana – Odike tells Ken Agyapong

The founder of the now-defunct United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike, has expressed deep disappointment in response to Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong’s decision to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This decision comes after Kennedy Agyapong lost the party’s presidential primaries to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

On November 4, the results of the primaries were as follows: Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia polled 118,210 votes (61.43 percent), Kennedy Agyapong received 71,991 votes (37.41 percent), former Agric Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto secured 1,459 votes (0.76 percent), and former Mampong MP Frimpong Addai-Nimoh obtained 781 votes (0.41 percent).

Following the announcement of the results, Mr. Agyapong declared his commitment to the NPP, with the goal of ensuring the party’s success in breaking the eight-year cycle.

“I believe the party has been fair and transparent, and the only thing I have always been preaching is that this election is fair and my grassroots people have spoken. I pledge my support that we are going to work tirelessly to break the eight.”

“So, party members that we are here, we should put everything behind us and let us move this party forward. With unity, I believe we can break the eight,” he told the gathering to loud cheers.

A peeved Odike in an interview on Angel FM noted that he, together with the Ghanaian youth, are disappointed in Mr Agyapong over his inability to take risks to ensure his vision comes to fruition.

He noted that Mr Agyapong, who on a number of occasions accused the government of being corrupt, should have followed Mr Alan Kyerematen’s footsteps and exited the NPP to make his vision a reality.

Kennedy Agyapong, now your showdown comment has been slowed down. From showdown to slowdown Ken, you have raised the hopes of many. They think that you have an extraordinary vision. So I looked at his campaign. It looked like he was gearing towards the general election, and people had their hope in you. Now you have quelled back into your shells that you support Bawumia,” he said in an interview on Angel FM.

“Kennedy you have disappointed Ghanaians, and if some of us are still alive, you can’t make political comments and get away with it. Alan has shown he is more of a man than him because he has shown he wants to implement his vision to transform this country.”

Mr Kyerematen left the NPP in September this year over several challenges with the party’s electoral process among others in order to run for the 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate.

According to him, the Assin Central MP has sided with a faction that is not keen on prioritising the needs of citizens against theirs.

“Those who had hope in you after you said Ghana first and not because of a political party, what should those people do? Are you going to tell them to support Bawumia? Someone you campaigned against Ken, if you say you love the NPP more than Ghana, then you have exposed yourself. Many times, your comments suggest Ghana first. So where you are now, because where you are, it is not Ghana first,” he said.

He added: If he doesn’t change his mind and come to join us to save this country, Ken Agyapong’s political career has come to an end.”

Mr Odike noted that the action taken by Mr Agyapong hurt him to the extent that he shed tears.

“I cried at home yesterday (Sunday). When you say you have a vision, it doesn’t matter the risks you have to take to ensure the vision is materialised. You can’t take risks and you have given so much hope to the Ghanaian youth,” he said.

Founder of the now-defunct United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr Akwasi Addai Odike, has noted that Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong’s political career is hinged on his ability to disassociate himself from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to set up another to achieve his vision for the country.

His comments come after Mr Agyapong lost the NPP presidential primaries and gave his support to the victor of the day, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Bawumia cannot become president without Ken Agyapong – Ralph Agyapong

In the aftermath of the NPP’s Presidential Primaries held on November 4, 2023, where Kennedy Agyapong garnered substantial support, his brother and legal representative, Ralph Agyapong, emphasizes the critical importance of Kennedy’s backing for the NPP’s chances in the upcoming 2024 elections.

“If you look at the confidence that Vice President Dr. Bawumia was having, it appears they had their arrangements that we had no idea about. If we had started the campaign early, I believe things would have been better than this,” he said.

He added,” When you look at all the results from the regions especially where Kennedy Agyapong pulled higher results, the party has to be careful and position themselves well because you can see that without Kennedy Agyapong there is no way they can win this election in 2024…there is no way they can win without him.”

During an interview conducted on November 6, 2023, on Okay FM, Ralph Agyapong called upon the party to refrain from targeting Kennedy Agyapong.

He asserted that the party has frequently accused him of jeopardizing its success due to his candid and contentious statements.

“Nobody has approached him for any position (vice presidential slot). They accuse him of destroying the party with his utterances, so why don’t they leave him alone now?”

In the NPP flagbearer election, Kennedy Agyapong was defeated by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Dr. Bawumia clinched victory with a substantial 61.43% of the total votes, while Kennedy Agyapong, his nearest competitor, received 37.41% of the vote share.

The remaining two contestants, Dr. Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh, secured 0.75% and 0.41%, respectively.

Ken Agyapong is only fighting for his business not the ordinary Ghanaian – Namoale

Former Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale, has accused Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, of putting his needs above those of Ghanaians in his quest to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer.

In an interview on Angel FM, Mr Namoale said the only reason Mr Agyapong contested was to secure the contracts he earns from the government and prevent anyone from hindering the growth of his businesses.

He said: “When they were voting, I nearly wrote on my Facebook wall that nobody should expect Kennedy Agyapong to lead the party. Ken Agyapong will never lead the party because he knew it is only in the NPP that he can get contracts.

“Ken Agyapong is not coming to fight for the ordinary Ghanaian, he is fighting for his business. He is going to fight for his business.”

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential election to represent the ruling party in the 2024 general elections.

A total of 203,439 delegates participated in the election conducted on November 4, in the various constituencies across all 16 regions of Ghana.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polled 118,210 votes, representing 61.43 percent, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong garnered 71,991 votes (37.41 percent), former Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto got 1,459 votes (0.76 percent) and former Mampong MP, Frimpong Addai-Nimoh secured 781 votes, representing (0.41 percent).

Following the election, Mr Namoale believes that all Mr Agyapong will “do now is to fight for running mate.”

Vocal critic Kevin Taylor has also levelled serious allegations against Kennedy Agyapong prior to the elections.

According to Taylor, Kennedy Agyapong has benefited immensely from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration. Taylor states, “He is the one who has gotten more money under this administration than anyone else. When you go to COCOBOD, 70% of the contracts, they give it to Kennedy Agyapong.”

A member of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has also noted that information from Oppong Bio, a member of Ken Agyapong’s campaign, suggests that Mr Agaypong was only interested in running for president due to selfish reasons.

In an interview on Citi TV’s Face to Face show, Frederick Opare-Ansah said this to buttress his $500 million worth of contract claims against Mr Agyapong.

“It was in September 2022, in his house on the Agbobga road. I want to protect the identity of one person because he is a businessman. He would not want his name out there. We were four there. The other guy is one Sam, who is also part of the campaign of Kennedy. He (Oppong Bio) said this and laughed that if they were to make that offer to Kennedy today, he would find some good reason to tell the campaign team and then stop,” he said.

  • GHC61M, GHC81m: Amount of money Ken, Bawumia spent on T and T for NPP Primaries

GHC61M, GHC81m: Amount of money Ken, Bawumia spent on T and T for NPP Primaries

It is alleged that some New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates who participated in the recent flagbearer election that both Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, allocated a total of one hundred forty-two million, four hundred and seven thousand three hundred Ghana cedis exclusively for transportation allowances for the delegates.

This figure is calculated by multiplying the number of participating delegates by the amount that both leading candidates reportedly distributed to each delegate.

Videos circulating online depict delegates claiming that Agyapong provided GHC300 as transportation allowances (GHC61,031,700 in total), while Vice President Bawumia offered GHC400 (GHC81,375,600 in total).

This means that each delegate received a total of GHC700 from both candidates on the election day to facilitate their travel from their residences to the polling stations for casting their votes. When this amount is multiplied by the total of 203,439 delegates who partook in the elections, the sum reaches GHC 142,407,300.

It is essential to note that these funds are distinct from those allegedly shared with the delegates before the election day, as well as other gifts such as cars and motorcycles, all aimed at influencing the delegates’ voting choices.

Sir Collins, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), voiced his significant dissatisfaction with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his team due to the purportedly modest amount of GH¢400 promised to the delegates.

In an interview with GHOne TV, Collins expressed his profound displeasure and considered it an insult that Dr. Bawumia, a hopeful for the party’s flagbearer position, provided delegates with only GH¢400.

He argued that it didn’t make sense that Kennedy Agyapong, a rival candidate supposedly with less support from party members and government officials, offered GH¢300, while Bawumia, with greater resources at his disposal, did not offer a substantially higher amount.

Meanwhile, there are reports that not all the delegates received the funds shared.

Former National Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and prominent member of the Bawumia campaign team, Sammi Awuku, has congratulated Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, for the good contest and sportsmanship he exhibited at the just-ended NPP presidential primaries.

According to Mr Awuku, although Mr Agyapong did not end up becoming flagbearer, the performance exhibited was far more outstanding than was expected.

“With all respect, Kennedy Agyapong did very well. I knew it was a tough contest. I kid you not, Ken is a consummate politician. He has been through the very rugged nature of our politics. He’s been multiple times number of Parliament. He has also been one serious advocate for reforms.

“He is a great campaigner. Yesterday, there was a great showing from Ken. Congratulations to him and his team. They did a good job,” he said in an interview on JoyNews’ The Probe.

Ahead of the polls, Mr Awuku projected that Dr Bawumia would win over 70 percent of the votes by that was not the case after a total of 203,439 delegates participated in the election conducted today, November 4, in the various constituencies across all 16 regions of Ghana.

Mr Awuku noted that he was perplexed that his candidate lost to Ken Agyapong and now seeks to unravel the strategy used to ensure that.

“I think that is one of the things I’ll be looking at. I have a fair idea of what happened but this is something the rest of the team must also share their opinions on.

“I honestly believe that we have to review the results from Volta. Honestly, it was one of the results that shocked me. In terms of strategy. I don’t doubt the results. What might have gone wrong in the Volta Region. But great showing for Ken,” he said.

They did a good job. I think that is one of the things I’ll be looking at.

At the end of the race, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential election to represent the ruling party in the 2024 general elections.

‘Anti-Ken’, Hawa Koomson speaks after Ken sank Bawumia in her constituency

Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has expressed her disappointment with the outcome of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary in her constituency.

Despite being a known supporter of Mahamudu Bawumia, her constituency was won by Kennedy Agyapong after the conclusion of the polls.

According to the constituency’s results, Agyapong garnered 724 votes, while Bawumia received 679 votes. Agyapong also secured victory in the region, along with the Volta Region, while Bawumia claimed victory in the remaining 14 regions, emerging as the winner and the NPP’s next flagbearer.

Following the declaration of results in the constituency, Hawa Koomson addressed journalists, attributing her loss to payments made to delegates and allegations of misappropriation of funds.

“I am not surprised, honestly; if all 1,400 plus were to vote, that would have been good for me. So, what we have done is good. My people should not be disappointed; we should wait for the general outcome, which I know is going to be good.

“Like I said, I am happy that on the 24th of August, I was able to beat Kennedy in the region, so if he has beaten me in my constituency, well, it could be, but that doesn’t mean he is stronger than me in the constituency,” she stressed.

On November 4, 2023, Vice President Bawumia emerged victorious in the NPP flagbearer election.

The announcement of Bawumia’s victory was made by Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Elections at the Electoral Commission, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to the official results, Bawumia secured a landslide victory with 118,210 votes, which accounted for 61.47% of the total votes cast.

His closest rival, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, came in second with 71,996 votes, representing 35.52% of the total valid votes.

The remaining two contenders received less than one percent of the vote each, namely Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

Bawumia’s win marked his formal succession to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party’s leader, becoming the fourth flagbearer in the party’s history.

He is set to lead the NPP into the 2024 general elections.

The youth see Ken as the next J.J Rawlings – NDC Oti Regional Secretary

The Oti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gabriel Lembue, has expressed concerns about the potential implications of Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong winning the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries.

He believes that if Agyapong emerges as the NPP’s presidential candidate, it would pose a significant challenge for the opposition party in the 2024 general elections.

Lembue emphasized that Agyapong represents hope for many young people, who see him as a figure similar to the NDC’s late founder, Jerry John Rawlings, who is credited with bringing positive changes to the country. Therefore, Lembue has openly voiced his preference for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s success in the ongoing NPP presidential primaries.

He believes that a contest between John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s likely 2024 flagbearer, and Vice President Bawumia would be advantageous for the opposition party.

“When you have people on the streets telling you that we want this fellow, it is a revolutionary time when we had the Rawlings. People think that Ken is the next Rawlings, so we will have quite the challenge in putting people together.

“What are you going to say about Ken. Ken says I am a job creator. Our people need hope and the message of hope has been trumpted by Ken Agyapong. Personally, I won’t hide it. We have been a bit concerned.

“But I’m happy that the system is pushing for a candidate that would make it simple for us. I would wish that the NPP would overwhelmingly endorse Dr Bawumia today. I will personally celebrate.”

Meanwhile, provisional results from the NPP primaries see Dr Bawumia in the lead position. But Kennedy Agyapong is currently giving the Vice President a run for his money.

The Oti Regional Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gabriel Lembue, has noted that should Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong emerge victorious in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries, it would be a challenge for the opposition party to win the 2024 general elections.

According to him, Mr Agyapong serves as a hope for many of the youth who view him as another version of the NDC’s founder, the late Jerry John Rawlings, who is said to have changed the fortunes of the country for better.

He has therefore prayed for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.

According to him, it is beneficial for the opposition NDC’s 2024 flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, to contest against the Vice President.

  • Forget Nov 4; join me as my running mate – GUM flagbearer tells Ken Agyapong

Forget Nov 4; join me as my running mate – GUM flagbearer tells Ken Agyapong

Founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has invited Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin-North and a contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong to join his party ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The GUM leader believes that the ‘rants and fuming’, the talk and the campaigning would eventually become a waste; “it wouldn’t go anywhere,” hence he has invited the Assin North MP to join his party to make Ghana better.

“My brother Ken, what I have to say is that he is a man of wisdom and quite knowledgeable.  The long talks and all , it shall become a waste at the end of the day.

“Nothing will come out of it so frankly speaking, if he can, I invite him to join me (GUM) in my run for presidency, so together we can help build Ghana for the better”, he said in Twi during an interview with Accra-based radio station Kasapa FM.

However, the GUM leader is not ready to hand over his flagbearer role should Ken decide to join.

When asked, he insisted that he had already entered the books of the Electoral Commission as flag bearer; hence, stepping down for Ken would not be possible.

“I have already been selected by the EC. I’m done so then how do I go back to EC to effect changes? No it won’t work” he responded.

  • NPP presidential aspirants sign pact barring resignation from party after Nov. 4 primaries

NPP presidential aspirants sign pact barring resignation from party after Nov. 4 primaries

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has announced that the four candidates vying for the flagbearer position have signed an agreement barring any candidate from breaking away from the party after the November 4 primaries.

He made this known after a meeting by the NPP National Council of Elders held on November 2, 2023, that saw two main contenders, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, exchange pleasantries.

Mr Frimpong Kodua revealed that the candidates; Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie, former MP for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh, have signed an agreement stating that following the primaries, “candidates will accept election primary results, promote peace and cohesion.”

“In the event that they don’t win, they will not resign from the party. They will support the winner of the election primary. Ensure and enforce mechanisms established by the party and also to work within the timelines and durations that has been established by the party from now till the results are declared and to respect the decision by the delegate of our party,” he added.

This initiative is believed to be a lesson learnt by the ruling party after the exit of its former presidential aspirant and former Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

On September 25, 2023, Mr Kyerematen announced his decision to break away from the party and run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Prior to this, on September 5, he declared his withdrawal from the presidential race, citing reasons such as electoral irregularities, unfair treatment, and bias during the super delegates’ conference held on August 26, 2023.

During the August 2023 Special Delegates conference, Alan secured a third-place position with fewer than 100 votes out of the total of over 900 votes.

On the matter, Mr Frimpong Kodua noted that the party had lost a great personality and was disappointed by the fact that Mr Kyerematen did not inform the leadership of the party of his decision before making his decision public.

Now ahead of the race, there have been speculations that one of the candidates, Kennedy Agyapong, who has faced off with some members of the party during his campaign, will exit the party should he not be elected flagbearer.

But the Assin Central MP has refuted this claim.

Over 208,000 delegates will cast their votes in all 270 constituencies across the country to choose one candidate from among the four aspirants.

The delegates, who constitute the Electoral College, include Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives, ministers and their deputies, founding members of the NPP, members of the party’s National Council, as well as patrons and council of elders.

The voting centres for the primaries include:  Western Sekondi Gyandu Park (Sekondi), Central Cape Coast South Robert Mensah Stadium, Korley Klottey YMCA (Greater Accra), Mawuli Senior High School (Volta Ho Central), SEC/TEC SCH ( Eastern New Juaben South, Koforidua), ST. Louis College of Education (Ashanti Manhyia South), John Bitar Club House Dwinasen 1 (Western North Sefwi Wiawso), Presby Primary A&B Goaso (Ahafo Asunafo North).

The others are: Bono Sunyani West Odomaseman SHS (Odomase), Bono East Techiman South S.D.A Primary School (Techiman), Dambai Training College (Oti Krachi East), Central Jubilee Park (Northern Tamale), Savannah Damongo Community Center (Damongo), Wa Technical School (Upper West Wa Municipal),  North East Nalerigu-Gambaga Zobzia Primary School (Gambaga) and House of Chiefs (Upper East Bolgatanga Central)

Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua has confirmed that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure a smooth and successful electoral process on Saturday.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, November 1, he mentioned that the NPP fully supports the Ghana Police Service in providing robust security for the election, with no interference or hindrance.

“And I also indicated our fullest support to the Ghana Police Service, that on Saturday they are in charge, they are supposed to make sure there is maximum security in and around where the voting will be taking place in all the 277 centers that we are going to have the election. On that day, I have also given them the assurance that as a party we will comport ourselves very well, and nobody even from the presidency to the national party will have the right to interfere with the work that will be done by the Electoral Commission or the Ghana Police Service.”

He added that, “Anyone who makes any attempt to cause any havoc or chaos there should be arrested by the Ghana Police Service. So, I am sure that the police will be up to the task and we are looking forward to have a very successful primary on Saturday.”

The General Secretary explained that all concerns related to the delegates’ album or register have been resolved, and all the aspirants are content with the resolution.

While aspirants have faced accusations of attempting to influence delegates through monetary means, they have consistently denied these claims, asserting that the funds are primarily provided to delegates for their transportation and meals.

Nonetheless, the General Secretary of the party has stated that anyone found engaging in any form of inducement at the voting locations will be handed over to the police. He underscored that the winner of the election will be determined by merit rather than financial influence.

“Some people will also be disappointed because I don’t know how about 203,00 delegates, as aspirant will be able to give maybe 200 cedis or 300 cedis to each of them. I believe the election on Saturday will be determined based on merit, based on the people’s perception and how an aspirant has been able to sell his message to the delegates. I don’t think ‘monecracy will play any role on Saturday. Our focus is to have a transparent election, and I can assure you money will not determine who will win the election.”

Give me $500m contracts every year and I will step down – Ken Agyapong’s alleged demand to Bawumia

A member of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has alleged that Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has demanded the supply of contracts to the tune of $500 million annually to withdraw from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race.

In his submissions on Wontumi TV, he disclosed that prior to Dr Bawumia announcing his decision to contest for the flagbearer position, Mr Agyapong engaged the Vice President and made the aforementioned demand.

According to Frederick Opare-Ansah, Dr Bawumia refuted the proposal and decided to contest to represent the NPP during the 2024 general elections.

“We had a discussion and I told him we should have a conversation on radio so I disclose the Ghanaian people why he is contesting this very election. He went to Dr (Bawumia) to give him about $500m worth of contracts if he becomes president annually. And doc refused and said he will contest him. It happened. Oppong Bio informed me. I would have also said these comments but I won’t say that,” he said.

This allegation comes at a time when Mr Agyapong has himself levelled some strong claims pointing to money inducement.

According to the Assin Central MP, he has been offered $800 million to drop out from the NPP presidential elections.

But this claim has been refuted by many including the campaign team of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Ahead of the much-anticipated New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries slated for November 4, two main contenders have been sighted engaging in a cordial gesture.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, considered the frontrunner in the flagbearer race, and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, tipped to give the Veep a run for his money, exchanged pleasantries during a Council of Elders meeting.

In a video on social media platform X, the two leaders shook hands heartily. The Vice President smiled as he shook the hands of his contender.

Mr Agyapong’s posture read as one who was happy to see an ally. The handshake was indeed pleasant.

This goes to quash claims that the two individuals are engaged in a “beef”. This is due to allegations and rebuttals between the camps of Dr Bawumia and Mr Agyapong.

Mr Agyapong recently claimed that he was offered $800 million to step down from the race. In response, the camp of Dr Bawumia noted that they have not engaged Mr Agyapong and have also not made such an offer.

Let’s go to Akufo-Addo’s house and ask how you became Fisheries Minister – Ken Agyapong to Hawa Koomson

Presidential aspirant of the NPP and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has claimed that he played a pivotal role in President Akufo-Addo’s appointment of Mavis Hawa Koomson as the Minister for Fisheries.

During an interview on Kastle FM over the weekend, Kennedy Agyapong asserted that he and Chairman Kutin played a significant role in facilitating around 90% of ministerial appointments in the Central Region.

Agyapong claimed that, despite his assistance in securing positions for individuals like Hawa Koomson and other ministers, they have distanced themselves from him.

Madam Koomson and the Assin Central MP have engaged in disagreements ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

“He had finished sharing the positions already, and Hawa didn’t get some… to be honest with you, we were fighting for Alex Markin, but he had issues. They alleged some infractions with Agric bank, so President Akufo-Addo didn’t want to hear his name. So, the most senior was Hawa, and that’s how Hawa Koomson got her ministerial position.

“The last time I met the president and asked him, ‘Wasn’t I the one who came to you and fought for Hawa Koomson to create a Special initiative for her? So, she should go and ask.’ I challenge all the ministers in this region who got their ministerial positions without my influence, I am challenging all of them,” he said.

Reacting to the possibility of any challenge, Mr Agyapong expressed his willing to take Madam Koomson to the President to verify his statements.

“Your choice is your choice, so long as you don’t go out to insult me like what Hawa Koomson has done but for me, I am just quiet and looking at her, today I want to tell her that if she likes the two of us should go to Akufo-Addo’s house and ask him how she got her ministerial position …how they created special initiative for her.”

Agyapong further stated, “Hawa Koomson, who is now saying all sorts of things about me, should go and ask President Akufo-Addo and Chairman Butey. I challenge every politician in the Central Region if anyone can match up my contribution to the region.”

COCOBOD owes Ken Agyapong alone over GH500m from contracts awarded to him – Hawa Koomson reveals

An audio recording has emerged, featuring the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, criticizing fellow Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, on a WhatsApp platform.

In the viral voice note, Hawa Koomson is heard accusing Kennedy Agyapong of being a braggart, using the help he provides to people as a means to insult them. She claims that she has personally refused help from Agyapong in the past due to his reputation for being outspoken and likely to use such assistance against the recipient in the future.

Amongst the jaw-dropping revelations made by the fisheries Minister is the alleged GHC500 million to be claim by the Assin North MP.

“Kennedy as you see him has over GHC500 MILLION to collect from COCOBOD. Even Electricity Company of Ghana, he has been supplying them with meters and electric poles since President Kufour time, The party (NPP) has really helped him”

“So I am not part of those Kennedy Agyapong gives help. That is why when he came to Christ for All Mission to brag and I heard about it I called KT Hammond and Afenyo Markin that these are the lies Kennedy has come to Kasoa to peddle so I want to confront him. Thankfully to God, I met him at KT Hammond’s office where I confronted him and told him my mind because I know I don’t have my hand in his mouth,” she said.

Hawa Koomson also mentions an incident in 2012 when Agyapong claimed to be giving out cars, and she chose not to accept the offer because she did not want to be subject to potential insults from him in the future. She further asserts that she is not among those who receive help from Kennedy Agyapong.

The statement was made in response to an attack by a pro-Ken NPP member on the party’s WhatsApp platform in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

Hawa Koomson, who openly supports Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP flagbearer contest, accuses Kennedy Agyapong of not being a true member of the party. She questions his loyalty, citing his threats to abandon the party and move abroad if he is not elected as the flagbearer.

Furthermore, Hawa Koomson alleges that Agyapong has profited from NPP contracts and is now using his financial assistance to the party as a means to push for his election as the flagbearer. These accusations have likely stirred up controversy within the party and may impact the dynamics of the ongoing flagbearer contest.

  • Ridiculous! Why would Bawumia offer you $800m to step down from presidential race you’d lose – Gideon Boako to Ken Agyapong

Ridiculous! Why would Bawumia offer you $800m to step down from presidential race you’d lose – Gideon Boako to Ken Agyapong

The campaign team of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has outrightly rejected claims by Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, that their candidate offered him $800 million to withdraw from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race slated for November 4, 2023.

In an interview with Time FM, Mr Agyapong said, “Does he know the number of people who have approached me but for the love of Ghana and the delegates I have said I will never do it?

“The money they offered is $800 million, if he doesn’t know. He should ask Mr Oppong Bio, if that is what they are saying but I said no I will not step down, Ghana first.

“In 2016, you people were not able to buy pickups. How come today you are able to offer me $800 million? So I said I won’t step down…” he stated.

Reacting to this, Dr Gideon Boako, the spokesperson for the Vice President in a press statement noted that the Dr Bawumia, since he entered the NPP race, has not privately met Mr Agyapong and neither has he nor his camp met the Assin Central MP to “negotiate anything in respect of this contest.”

“The Vice President and his team consider this $800 million claim as absolutely ridiculous, and it shows gross disregard for the intelligence of Ghanaians,” the statement added.

According to the camp, this is so because “Dr. Bawumia is, and has always been confident that by the Grace of God, he will defeat Hon. Kennedy Agyapong quite well on November 4th” thus” has never entertained any wish for him to step down from the contest.”

“It is instructive to note that the latest allegation by Kennedy Agyapong, is a rehash of a similar allegation he made about a month ago, claiming without proof, that he was offered money to step down and be a running mate to Dr. Bawumia – a baseless claim we publicly denied on September 30, 2023.”

“The Vice President is a man noted for his modesty, and he remains committed to his life-long values of serving people with his intellect. While urging the public to disregard such outrageous lies, directed subtly at the Bawumia Campaign, we also reiterate Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to running a decent campaign devoid of personality attacks, lies, and insults to preserve the unity of our great party,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Mr Agyapong’s comments have been scrutinized by some X users who believe it is absurd such an offer will be made. According to them, the amount being mentioned is gargantuan. They even believe, Elon Musk said to be the wealthiest man in the world would not make such a proposal.

One X user, @JefferyAnkamah wrote: “I am not a political activist but, I can’t just believe this political gimmick! Even, Elon Musk won’t reimburse a person with this enormous container money! We’re talking about 800 million! Money that’s closer to 1 billion can never be a caricature!”
