Ken Agyapong reveals $800m bribe offered him to withdraw from NPP presidential race

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Ken Agyapong refuted allegations made by former Member of Parliament Frederick Opare-Ansah concerning demands that he resign from his flagbearer candidature and ask Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for $500 million in yearly contracts.

Alternatively, he claimed that he received an offer of $800 million to drop out of the party’s presidential contest in favour of Dr. Bawumia.

This demonstrates how differently they have described the events and raises the possibility that different accounts exist about the purported financial negotiations.

In an interview with Time FM, he said “Does he know the number of people who have approached me but for the love of Ghana and the delegates I have said I will never do it?

“The money they offered is $800 million, if he doesn’t know. He should ask Mr Oppong Bio, if that is what they are saying but I said no I will not step down, Ghana first.

“In 2016, you people were not able to buy pickups. How come today you are able to offer me $800 million? So I said I won’t step down…” he stated.

In a media outburst against Kennedy Agyapong, Opare-Ansah accused him of harboring resentment, alleging that Agyapong’s decision to enter the presidential race was motivated by a desire to spite Dr. Bawumia. Opare-Ansah claimed that Agyapong had set conditions for his support, which were turned down by the vice president. However, Agyapong refuted these claims, asserting that his presidential bid is driven by a commitment to the public interest, and he remains resolute in his pursuit of the presidency.

“Why would I take all this money for Ghana to go through hardship, I won’t do it and I have not done it. Beside that, a number of elders have called on me begging me to step down and become vice president.

“But if you make me vice president, I have been told to my face that the only way they (grassroots) will be voting for me is if I am leading Ghana but I have been told that if I bring those who have served under this government, they won’t vote for me. So why should I even step down for us to go to opposition? I won’t do it,” he said.

On November 4, 2023, the NPP will select a flagbearer in advance of the presidential election that year.

I played a major role in Hawa Koomson becoming Fisheries Minister – Ken Agyapong claims

NPP presidential aspirant and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, says he is the reason behind President Akufo-Addo’s decision to appoint Mavis Hawa Koomson as Minister for Fisheries.

During a live radio interview on Kastle FM, Cape Coast, Mr. Agyapong explained that Afenyo-Markin, the MP for Efuttu was denied the Fisheries Minister position due to an issue involving an agriculture bank. As a result, the president rejected his appointment, and the role was subsequently awarded to Mavis Hawa Koomson.

Kennedy Agyapong reiterated his position, asserting that he played a pivotal role in supporting major initiatives championed by Hawa Koomson, the current Minister for Fisheries.

He contended that without his support, she would not have been able to secure any political role, as her voice would have gone unheard.

“How would Hawa Koomson, who was based in the central region have gotten such a position. I was the one who created special initiatives for her. Anyone who is being considered for a ministerial position has to go through me,” he said.

He continued, “Are you saying Hawa Koomson could launch campaigns in the Central Region without me? Who will listen to her?” he questioned.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is presently in the process of selecting its official flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 general elections, scheduled for December 2024.

In this contest, Kennedy Agyapong faces off against Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister for Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai Nimo.

The NPP has set the date for its national delegates conference on November 4 to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

During a live radio interview on Kastle FM, Cape Coast, Mr. Agyapong explained that Afenyo-Markin was denied the Fisheries Minister position due to an issue involving an agriculture bank. As reported by Angel FM, the incident occurred at the Central North Police Headquarters, where they were attempting to secure the release of one Apostle Iddrisu, also known as Reverend Shammah.

Interestingly, even though the detainee is not an NPP supporter, he has publicly expressed his endorsement of Ken Agyapong and was arrested recently for making threats against NPP delegates who do not support his favored candidate.

In a video shared from the police headquarters, several supporters of Kennedy Agyapong are seen engaged in a scuffle as they attempted to access the cells to release the detainee.

NPP Primaries: Bawumia will emerge victorious in 13 out of 16 regions – Survey

The latest Global Info Analytics Survey indicates that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is poised to secure the majority of votes in 13 out of the 16 regions in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer race.

While he maintains a strong position across many regions, maverick politician Kennedy Ohene Agyapong leads in the Ashanti and Central regions.

The Oti Region sees an 80 percent split between Dr Bawumia and Mr Agyapong. In the Western region, they have a close competition, with Bawumia at 31 percent and Agyapong at 29 percent.

Vice President Bawumia achieves a significant lead in the North East region with 90 percent support.

However, the survey suggests the possibility of a runoff election as none of the candidates is expected to reach the required 50 percent-plus threshold for a first-round victory.

The survey, conducted from October 2 to 11, covered 4,311 NPP delegates from all 275 constituencies. The NPP is scheduled to hold its presidential candidate election on Saturday, November 4, in preparation for the 2024 general elections.

We will ensure K.T Hammond, Afenyo-Markin, others who opposed Ken Agyapong lose their seat – Campaign team

Kennedy Agyapong‘s campaign team has declared its intention to ensure that all Members of Parliament (MPs) who supported Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the presidential primaries lose their seats if Kennedy Agyapong emerges as the victor.

The campaign team believes that this is the only way to ensure that they have a cooperative group to collaborate with in executing their agenda for change.

Kwame Owusu, the Chairman of the Kennedy Agyapong Campaign team, questioned why individuals who are close associates of Mr. Agyapong, such as Alexander Afenyo-Markin and KT Hammond, have not publicly endorsed his candidacy.

Chairman of the Kennedy Agyapong Campaign team, Kwame Owusu

“Honourable K.T Hammond is the best friend of Kennedy Agyapong, Minister of Trade, he has not been able to endorse him. Afenyo-Markin is the best friend of Kennedy Agyapong, he has not been able to endorse him,” Mr Owusu said.

“It is because they are psychologically intimidated and we knew because of that and to protect their jobs they are going to go to the other side. When we get the chance to win, most of these MPs will be cleaned up. We will campaign against them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Owusu has acknowledged that his campaign team has opted to provide financial incentives to certain delegates in preparation for the forthcoming presidential primaries on November 4.

He clarified that their choice to incentivize delegates was a response to the significant amounts of money being distributed to delegates by other contenders.

“He has given some inducements which are far too high and people look at it and they are very dissatisfied as to things that we have not been able to pay, such as NABCO. Recently we were even owing so much money as regards to school feeding and the rest…so when people see the amount of money that is moving that they claim they don’t have, people become suspicious,” Mr Owusu said.

The NPP is set to hold its presidential primaries on November 4.

Four individuals are competing for the flagbearer position. They are Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP, Ken Agyapong, former Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto and former Mampong MP, Francis Addai-Nimoh.

NPP’s electoral victories hinge on my involvement – Kennedy Agyapong

a prospective New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has strongly asserted that the party’s electoral successes are intricately linked to his involvement and contributions.

In an interview with Tamale FM, the Assin Central Member of Parliament disclosed that, despite financial incentives to step aside from the race, he remains unwaveringly loyal to the party.

He maintains the conviction that the NPP’s electoral prospects would suffer significantly without his active participation.

“…without me, the NPP can’t win elections. Do you know how many people are begging me? You know, the money that they’ve offered me to step down? If I step down, we will lose. With the sacrifices the party people have made, I cannot selfishly take that amount of money and leave them to their fate,” he stated.

Kennedy Agyapong conveyed his worries about the party’s possible neglect of him, underscoring the interdependence of their achievements.

“How can NPP dump me? If they dump me, they will go into opposition. We all need each other.”

He also exposed his resolute commitment to avoid being used and cast aside by the party, a fate that has befallen individuals in the past.

“You see, NPP will always want to use you and dump you. I will not allow them to dump me anymore; I won’t do it. I will not sacrifice for NPP, for my children, my family, and generations to be humiliated,” he declared.

  • Ken Agyapong is a double agent, his goal is to sabotage NPP for NDC – NPP’s Northern Regional Chair

Ken Agyapong is a double agent, his goal is to sabotage NPP for NDC – NPP’s Northern Regional Chair

The Northern Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Mohammed Bantama Samba, has made allegations against the Assin Central Member of Parliament and a presidential aspirant for the party, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

Alhaji Samba has accused Agyapong of secretly favoring the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) while pretending to be a loyal NPP member due to his party membership card.

“Kennedy is our member of parliament but working for the NDC and just holding our party card pretending to be an NPP member, is clear. Nobody else can become a flagbearer in NPP apart from Bawumia and we’re breaking the 8 with him,” Samba said.

According to Chairman Samba, Kennedy Agyapong lacks credibility and is known for being a chronic liar. He believes that Agyapong is insincere and should not be taken seriously, asserting that he is essentially an NDC aspirant masquerading as an NPP representative.

The Northern Region chairman also claimed that Agyapong’s intentions are to campaign for the NDC rather than genuinely vie for the NPP’s flagbearership.

He pointed out that during Agyapong’s campaign tour in the Northern Region, Agyapong did not seek support from the NPP but instead focused on highlighting the number of workers he employs and the businesses he has created.

In response to Agyapong’s campaign tour in the Northern Region, Mr. Samba mentioned that Agyapong offers nothing beneficial to the NPP and lacks the ability to convince party delegates to vote for him.

“Kennedy said being in the IMF is like handing over power to the NDC, clearly he is not a man of wisdom because he was to be a wise person and a man of your word he wouldn’t have come back to join this race. He doesn’t go by his words,” he added.

He suggested that the NPP would have easily acclaimed Dr. Bawumia as the party’s leader if it weren’t for the formalities of selecting a flagbearer, emphasizing Bawumia’s popularity within the party.

  • Ken Agyapong attacks 20 Northern MPs and Bawumia again; calls them a disgrace

Ken Agyapong attacks 20 Northern MPs and Bawumia again; calls them a disgrace

With just 2 weeks left for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer election, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong seem to be doing the most.

The parliamentarian made headlines when he donated a pick-up truck to Yaa Naa, the traditional ruler of the Dagbon kingdom in Northern Ghana. However, his gesture has triggered mixed reactions and a wave of criticism, specially since the MP has being on the attacking end accusing his fellow contestants of voting buying.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, responding to critics of his donation said “I come from the south to give him a pick-up, and you go and disgrace him.”

“Yaa Naa never said anything like what they have put out there. Instead of praising Ken Agyapong… you have over 20 MPs here plus the vice president, nobody has gone to Yaa Naa to give him a pick-up,

The controversy arises from the fact that Yaa Naa, a highly respected traditional leader in Northern Ghana, has not publicly requested any assistance, let alone a pick-up truck. Critics argue that Agyapong’s gesture may have been an attempt to gain political favor or attention.

Yaa Naa’s spokesperson issued a brief statement in response to Agyapong’s offer, stating that the traditional ruler had not sought or requested assistance in any form from any political figure. The statement emphasized Yaa Naa’s commitment to the traditional values and independence of the Dagbon kingdom.

The controversy has sparked discussions on social media and in political circles in Ghana, with some supporting Agyapong’s intentions and others criticizing it as opportunistic. The motives behind Agyapong’s gesture remain a subject of debate, with political rivalries and local dynamics playing a part in the unfolding story.

The cost of your handbag is more than your husband’s donation to Akosombo dam spillage victims – Ken’s team tells Samira Bawumia

A member of the legal counsel for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, has chided the wife of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for her ‘luxurious’ lifestyle, which comes at an exorbitant cost.

Ralph Agyapong noted that Mrs Samira Bawumia could have invested the sums of money spent on accessories such as handbags to help alleviate the current condition of Ghanaians who are facing economic challenges.

He noted that the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, whom she allegedly described as “bitter, angry, and satisfied candidate” has played a vital role in the upgrade of lives in the Ashanti Region.

Mrs Bawumia is reported to have entreated NPP delegates to ignore Mr Agyapong since he didn’t mind landing the party into opposition.

In response, Mr Ralph Agyapong said: “This is the Second Lady who is in the Ashanti region and telling the polling station executives and coordinators about someone she claims to be bitter, angry, and satisfied.

“When God blessed him, he didn’t spend the money; rather, he is using it to build a Cardio Centre for 37 Military Hospital for the military.

“Go to the Okomfo Anokye Cancer Centre; he has donated money to them. When he had money, he didn’t use it to buy expensive bags to go and stand in front of polling station executives.”

He compared the amount of money spent on bags by Mrs Bawumia to the Vice President’s recent donation to the victims of the dam spillages in the country.

“The money she used to buy the said bag is more expensive than her husband’s donation to the flood victims. If you approach people with this kind of luxurious lifestyle and tell them this, what is more insulting than this? So, what the woman said, I believe it just came at the spot, that is how I see it,” he said.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GH₵160,000 of his personal funds to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage.

Kennedy Agyapong will be vying for the flagbearer position, facing three other competitors, namely Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has addressed the recent anti-corruption commitments made by Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong.

In an interview with Oyerepa TV earlier in the week, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, asserted that Agyapong, who is currently an aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, is involved in the corruption within the government.

However, he suggested that Agyapong is positioning himself as a virtuous figure to garner votes in the presidential primaries scheduled for November 4.

“He is pretending, knowing that Ghanaians are tired of the rot and corruption currently going on, he is positioning himself as an anti-corruption crusader to get their support to win an election but he doesn’t have any intention of winning and coming to fight corruption,” he stated.

Mr Agyapong is set to compete for the NPP’s flagbearer position, alongside three other contenders, namely Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

As a part of the Glorious Word Miracle Church International, led by Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, Owusu has boldly predicted that Kennedy Agyapong, a contender for the NPP’s presidential nomination, will become Ghana’s next president following the 2024 elections.

“He is the one God has prepared; he has been ordained already by God; when God calls you and prepares you spiritually, it will manifest at all costs in the physical.”

He stressed that Agyapong has suddenly been catapulted into the presidential limelight from a position of zero ambition only months ago.

“Because he is of God, he has changed how politics is in Ghana, especially within the NPP… and that is a perfect sign that it is of God and so far as that is the case, it will surely manifest.

Agyapong is poised to compete for the NPP’s flagbearer position, joining three other contenders: Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

TV and radio celebrity presenter, Afia Schwarzenegger, claims that a few prominent individuals have solicited her assistance in ensuring that Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, canvasses a lot of votes ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

In a video, Afia Schwarzenegger noted that musician Kwame A-Plus, former NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon, Fred Nuamah have contacted her to campaign for Mr Agyapong.

She also claims that one of the sons of the politician, Kennedy Agyapong Junior, has also reached out to her. Afia Schwarzenegger, known to have a murky relationship with Mr Agyapong also said Mr Edward Boateng, who served as Ambassador from 2017 to 2020, has called for her support.

“This man asked Fred Nuamah, this man you people are calling President, describing me like this, his son, Kennedy Agyapong Jnr has spoken to me to campaign for the father. Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has noted that he holds no grudge against the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako over his threat to have him arrested.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has issued a warning, stating that he will seek the arrest of Kennedy Agyapong if he continues to make threats against his life.

During a press conference held in Kumasi, Chairman Wontumi expressed concern that the threats made by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central against the late Tiger Eye PI journalist, Ahmed Suale, had ultimately resulted in Suale’s death. As a result, Chairman Wontumi takes Agyapong’s threats seriously.

This development comes in the wake of Kennedy Agyapong’s accusations during his “Showdown Walk” event in Kumasi, where he alleged that Chairman Wontumi and the Vice President were responsible for undermining the NPP.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong also dared the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP and stated that he would give him a “showdown.”

The contention between the two individuals was raised during an interview on Starr FM.

When reminded by host Bola Ray of Chairman Wontumi’s threat to have him arrested, he said, “I forgive him.”

He, however, expressed disappointment over Chairman Wontumi’s decision to seek police assistance.

“I thought a bold man will always say that if you challenge me again or threaten me, I’m also going to face you. But if you resort to the police, it means you are a coward. Case closed. We are not going to talk about it again. I’d never call the police. I will come face-to-face and give you a showdown,” he said.

Following the expiration of the deadline, he notes that anyone caught will face the law.

“To be honest, my approach will be Buhari’s own. Anybody who feels that he has stolen Ghana’s money should bring it. We will give you 6 months, and if we find you, you will face the law,” he noted.

On how to tackle corruption, Mr Agyapong indicated that he would implement an approach similar to that of former Nigerian President Buhari, where he would give the culprits a 6-month ultimatum to surrender.

For the Assin Central MP, Ghana is capable of feeding the entire continent.

Here are Ken Agyapong’s recent tweets for the past three hours:

  • I am still a proud NPP member – Ken Agyapong

I am still a proud NPP member – Ken Agyapong

Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has denied claims suggesting that he plans to exit the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has asserted that Kennedy Agyapong will part ways with the ruling New Patriotic Party following the much-anticipated presidential primaries slated for November 4.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, the presidential aspirant would only exit the ruling party if he failed to emerge as a flagbearer at the end of the day.

He noted that recent actions by Mr Agyapong indicate to him that he will join Alan Kyerematen who recently exited the ruling party owing to challenges with the electoral processes to elect a flagbearer, among others.

“I can tell you on authority that he doesn’t want to be part of NPP. He has decided, per his actions, show that if you don’t vote for him on November 4, he will leave the party and follow Alan,” he said.

In recent times, there has been bad blood between Mr Agyapong and some members of the NPP including  Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Chairman Wontumi at a press conference in Kumasi earlier on Wednesday, threatened to cause the arrest of Kennedy Agyapong if he “threatens” him again.

In spite of all these developments, Mr Agyapong noted that he remains a member of the party, and a proud one at that.

He made this known during an interview on Starr FM.

“I am not disassociating myself from the NPP. I am still a proud NPP,” he said.

  • I will reset the minds of Ghanaians the very day I am sworn in as president – Ken Agyapong

I will reset the minds of Ghanaians the very day I am sworn in as president – Ken Agyapong

Presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has noted that overhauling the mindset of Ghanaians will be the very first step he takes as president.

He communicated this planned initiative via a Twitter post on October 6.

He wrote: “The very day I am sworn in as president, the minds of Ghanaians will be reset.”

In earlier and subsequent tweets, the Assin Central MP spoke on a number of issues he believes are derailing the country’s progress.

He made mention of tribalism, politicization, lack of continuity and corruption.

“The excessive tribalism and politicization won’t help our development. It must stop!”

“Continuity is important for us to move in this country.”

On how to tackle corruption, Mr Agyapong indicated that he would implement an approach similar to that of former Nigerian President Buhari, where he would give the culprits a 6-month ultimatum to surrender.

Following the expiration of the deadline, he notes that anyone caught will face the law.

“To be honest, my approach will be Buhari’s own. Anybody who feels that he has stolen Ghana’s money should bring it We will give you 6 months, and if we find you, you will face the law,” he noted.

  • My properties have already been shared among my children – Ken Agyapong

My properties have already been shared among my children – Ken Agyapong

Member of Parliament for Assin-North and presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed that he has equitably distributed his assets among his children as a preventive measure against potential disputes when he is no longer alive.

Mr. Agyapong, who has 22 children from 12 different women, disclosed that each of his children has received a house.

During an interview with Bola Ray, the NPP flagbearer aspirant explained that he made this decision to prevent any scenario where one of his heirs might lay claim to all his properties and dominate the others after his passing.

“I have five wives, so long as you have a child with them, you are indebted to them. And every one of them has a home. Every child of my child has a house because if you don’t do that, one day if you die, one woman can collect everything and leave other kids,” he expressed.

When questioned why he didn’t choose to establish trust funds for his children instead, the lawmaker responded:

“I don’t believe in trust funds. I dish out everyone’s properties to them while I am alive. I don’t want them fighting when I am dead. In that case, no one can bully others for theirs.”

Mr. Agyapong also expressed that although he has distributed his properties to his children, there is a highly enviable one that is acquired in his name.

“The property I know they will fight over is in my name. That is what I eat from. You think I am not smart?” he expressed.

He also talked openly about the relationships amongst his partners.

“They are not friends but one of them is very tolerant; she allows the others to bring over their children. You know, you have to give them that space, you don’t have to disrespect anybody,” he expressed.

  • Chairman Wontumi is coward, he should come and face me – Ken Agyapong

Chairman Wontumi is coward, he should come and face me – Ken Agyapong

Flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong has expressed his opinion about Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, describing him as someone who lacks courage and bravery.

According to him, he expected Chairman Wontumi to face him if he feels intimidated by him.

However, Agyapong believes that Wontumi’s declaration of intent to report him to the police in any scenario demonstrates a reluctance to confront him face-to-face.

“ I thought a bold man will always say Tthat if you challenge me again or threaten me I’m also going to face you. But if you resort to a police, It means you are coward, case close. We are not going to talk about it again. Because i will never call a police and come face to face and give you a show down”, Ken Agyapong expressed.

Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team in the Ashanti Region has dismissed the warning issued by Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), regarding the potential arrest of the flagbearer aspirant.

Agyapong’s team contends that Chairman Wontumi lacks a valid basis for threatening legal action against the Member of Parliament for Assin Central.

Earlier, Chairman Wontumi had declared his intention to pursue legal action against Kennedy Agyapong if he continued to make what he considered threatening statements towards him, during a press conference in Kumasi.

In response, Kennedy Agyapong’s team held a news conference to counter the earlier statement by Chairman Wontumi and openly challenged him to go ahead and arrest the Assin Central MP.

They further asserted that the information available to them indicates that Chairman Wontumi has actually been involved in activities that could justify his own arrest.

  • Vote for me or I break away – Maurice Ampaw reveals Kennedy Agyapong’s ‘grand plan’ for the NPP

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, believes presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, is working up to exit the party.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, the Assin Central MP’s strategy is to have delegates elect him as the NPP’s flagbearer ahead of the 2024 election or break away from the party.

I can tell you on authority that he doesn’t want to be part of NPP. He has decided, per his actions, show that if you don’t vote for him on November 4, he will leave the party and follow Alan,” he said.

He further explained that “To him, some pastors have prophesied that he would become president, so delegates of the NPP have no choice. He said, I’ve told I’d be come President. While Alan said it is my turn, Ken said I’ve been told I’ll become president. So if he doesn’t become president, he cannot support anyone. If you have such a personality in the party who is putting the party on notice that if he isn’t the one, no one can win. And because no one can win, he will go Independent.”

Recently, tensions have escalated between Mr. Kennedy Agyapong and certain members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi. Chairman Wontumi, during a press conference in Kumasi, issued a threat to have Kennedy Agyapong arrested if he made further threats against him.

In response, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team in the Ashanti Region has dismissed Chairman Wontumi’s threat to have the flagbearer aspirant arrested.

Meanwhile, a member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communication team, Kwadwo Danquah, has speculated that Mr. Kennedy Agyapong may leave the NPP. According to Danquah, he anticipates that Kennedy Agyapong might follow the path of former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen due to alleged mistreatment by the leadership of the ruling party.

This prediction was made by the Eastern Regional Communications Office during an interview on Power FM on September 26, 2023.

“When they go to their office, they go for Kan Dapaah’s boys to come and beat them and destroy their cars. That is what they did to Alan and for that, he has resigned from the party. That thing Akufo-Addo is doing may cause the downfall of the NPP. Mark my words today, Ken Agyapong will also go independent. He will resign and go independent.”

“I am the Eastern Regional Communications Officer; I am saying it on your platform. Today is 26th September 2023, I’m saying after they conclude the November primaries, Kennedy Agyapong will go independent.”

  • How Chairman Wontumi slapped a sitting MP – Ken Agyapong’s camp details

How Chairman Wontumi slapped a sitting MP – Ken Agyapong’s camp details

The ongoing political rivalry between Kennedy Agyapong, a prominent aspirant for the flagbearer position within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, holding the Ashanti regional chairman role within the party, has reached a boiling point.

In a public address to the media this week, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team made a serious accusation, claiming that Chairman Wontumi should face legal consequences for physically assaulting Collins Amankwah, an incumbent Member of Parliament in 2016.

This assertion was made by the spokesperson for Agyapong’s campaign team, Lawyer William Kusi, who expressed profound dismay over the apparent lack of legal action against Chairman Wontumi despite the gravity of the offense.

Mr Kusi emphasized the team belief that justice should be administered impartially, irrespective of one’s political affiliations or positions of power.

“If there’s anybody that should be arrested he should be the first. Number one have you ever heard of a regional chairman of any region slapping a sitting parliamentary candidate? . Wontumi is on record to have slapped a sitting MP,Collins Amankwah and he is walking free on the street of Kumasi. If it worth arresting people he should be the first to be arrested,” he added.

These comments from Agyapong’s team have come in direct response to Chairman Wontumi’s recent pronouncement.

Wontumi issued a stern caution to Kennedy Agyapong, urging him to refrain from making threats and delivering inflammatory statements.

He emphasized his preparedness to initiate legal proceedings that could culminate in Kennedy Agyapong’s apprehension should such threats persist.

Additionally, he conveyed his desire to avoid a fate akin to that of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, the investigative journalist tragically killed by assailants in 2019

He declared, “I am swearing today that I will not say anything against you and I will not say anything against the NPP. Everything I do is to bring development.”

“Now everything you say concerning what people have done to you won’t do anything. Instead, comments about someone being foolish, the way you talk, saying you regret you are NPP — I will show you. It will be a showdown. I beg you; let it stop today.”

“Because if not and you threaten me again, I will have you arrested. This is the advice I give to you. Because you have done this same thing so much that Ahmed Suale and others are no longer alive. So do not do that going forward.”

  • Pretentious hypocrite, only gullible Ghanaians will believe – Social commentator lashes out at Ken Agyapong

Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, is currently at the receiving end of a backlash following his clarification over a recent comment accusing the New Patriotic Party of looting tax payers’ money and starching them abroad.

Kennedy Agyapong, who is a potential flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has addressed a viral video, clarifying that he did not accuse the NPP of recklessly depleting the nation’s resources without concern for the future, as depicted in the footage.

He explained that the video was taken from a private meeting he had with some NPP communicators in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, over the past weekend.

In the video, the Assin Central MP expressed concerns about certain activities within the NPP, which he found troubling, and suggested that the party was involved in what he termed as ‘looting’ the country without considering its long-term consequences.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Kennedy Agyapong argued that the video had been intentionally edited to damage his reputation and cast a negative light on the Akufo-Addo government.

“My attention has been drawn to a video on social media which has since gone viral where I am heard saying that the NPP was looting the country as if there was not tomorrow. I wish to state that this is a complete and unfortunate misrepresentation of the actual content and focus of my message at that private event in Kumasi. It was a meeting with a small group of NPP communicators who had organised a small fundraising for me at the weekend.

“At the event, I lamented the fact that our communicators were letting the party down and that every government would have its fair share of corruption cases, especially in 8 years, but because of one or two bad cases which the authorities were handling and in a transparent manner as it should be, we have, sadly, allowed the ruthless opposition propaganda machinery, the mass media and the social media to create the deadly impression that NPP was looting as If there was no tomorrow, including allegations of stashing funds abroad,” part of the statement read.

Agyapong further clarified that the video was recorded during a private meeting and was intentionally edited to sow discord and damage his reputation, as well as the government’s standing.

“I wish to stress the point that the offending video was culled from a private meeting with some communicators in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, over the weekend, and edited to purposefully create disaffection towards me, Ken Ohene, Agyapong and to bring the Akufo-Addo government into disrepute.

“Indeed, I told the gathering not to be fooled by the lies against our government and party and also expressed my anger and unhappiness about the way we were allowing ourselves to be unfairly bashed in the media, especially social media as if we were worse than the NDC, which is certainly not the case,” the statement further read.

His recent take over the matter has not sat well with some members of the general public.

In response to his clarification, a social commentator by name Jack D criticised the NPP presidential aspirant for allegedly belittling Ghanaians and their ability to make rigorous analysis of his comments.

“This is Ken, the pretentious hypocrite that some gullible Ghanaians call a bold and truthful man. How can this fool think we are all so dumb, that we can’t interpret what he said on the recorded message?” he quizzed.

According to him, he believes Mr Agyapong is attempting to salvage the matter owing to its dire consequence on himself and the ruling party.

“He has realized what he said is a blow to the NPP he seeks to lead, so it is time for damage control. Ken, it is too late ; we heard you clearly, and we are not as dumb as Wontumi or those jobless fools of that Delta force criminal group.”

  • We won’t permit you to tarnish Ken Agyapong’s reputation – Campaign team to Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Campaign team supporting Kennedy Agyapong has issued a strong warning to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

During a press conference, the campaign team responded to Wontumi’s threat to arrest Kennedy Agyapong, making it clear that they would not allow him to engage in a public dispute that tarnishes Agyapong’s reputation.

Lawyer William Kusi, the regional communication leader for Team Agyapong, expressed their concern about Wontumi’s initial press conference, which they perceived as an attempt to damage Mr. Kennedy Agyapong’s image.

“We saw Wontumi starting his address with voter registration exercise, and suddenly, he diverted the attention to Mr. Agyapong. If he had concentrated on the voter registration alone, we wouldn’t have come out to react.

“Why was the conference which was supposed to address an issue concerning the party, held at the Vice President’s office in the first place? If the party does not have an office, Wontumi must come out to tell us. If we have an office, then why the Vice President’s office? This means he was assigned by the Vice President,” lawyer Kusi said.

Mr Kusi questioned why the press conference, meant to address party issues, was held at the Vice President’s office, suggesting a possible connection between Wontumi’s actions and the Vice President.

The campaign team firmly warned Wontumi against making any attempts to arrest Kennedy Agyapong, asserting that they would not tolerate such actions.

They emphasized that they take the matter seriously and challenged Wontumi to follow through on his threat, stating that they dare him to arrest Kennedy Agyapong to see the consequences of such actions.

“We hear Wontumi say he will arrest Kennedy Agyapong. This is why Kennedy Agyapong tells him he is a small boy, and I still insist on our candidate’s statement to repeat that, Wontumi, you’re a small boy. We dare him to arrest Kennedy Agyapong for us to see what would happen. In fact, we are serious.

“Under no circumstance would we allow someone like Wontumi to drag our candidate to the mad. If he is man, we dare him to arrest Kennedy and see,” he added.

  • Wontumi threatens to have Ken Agyapong arrested

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has issued a warning that he may pursue legal action to have Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong arrested if he continues to tarnish his well-established reputation.

During a press conference held in response to a series of allegations made against him and the party by Kennedy Agyapong, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly referred to as Chairman Wontumi, asserted that he would not tolerate any further insults from Kennedy Agyapong.

“Ken must listen to me, I will make sure he is arrested if he dares tarnish my image.  We know what Ken does, he insults people and goes scot free not me,” he said.

According to Chairman Wontumi, he would not remain quiet and be among the individuals who have been publicly attacked by the Assin Central MP.

“Ken in the past insulted and exposed Ahmed Suale, I am not him. I will report him to the police for justice”, he warned.

During his confrontational march in Kumasi, Mr. Agyapong confronted Chairman Wontumi and other prominent figures within the party, placing blame on them for the turmoil and disruption within the NPP.

But Chairman Wontumi is of the view that Ken Agyapong’s actions are causing harm to the party.

“Is it not true as Kennedy Agyapong alleges that I am destroying the NPP? You came to Kumasi, failed to meet up or call any of the leadership in the party and government in this region, yet you attacked the Regional Minister, you attacked Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, you attacked the Education Minister and you attacked me, Wontumi. Now you are there playing saint that it is me rather that is destroying the party. Tell me, who is destroying the party?”, he quizzed.

  • Make a mistake and you will see men in the country – Ken Agyapong dares Wontumi

Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a presidential hopeful in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) November 4 presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyapong, has made three significant revelations regarding the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

Agyapong, during his showdown walk in the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi on September 30, 2023, accused Chairman Wontumi of employing questionable tactics in politics. He expressed his concern about instances in which Wontumi has used his media platforms or allowed them to be used to criticize prominent party officials, particularly former trade minister Alan Kyerematen, who recently resigned from the NPP.

“I dare Wontumi to make a mistake and he will see men in this country, he will see men in Ghana. You operate a radio and TV station to insult elderly people,” Agyapong warned.

Kennedy further revealed that traditionally, Chairman Wontumi was aligned with the faction supporting Alan Kyerematen. He claimed that it was his own efforts that led to Wontumi switching allegiance and becoming a staunch supporter of Nana Akufo-Addo.

“I dare Wontumi to come here and deny, he was a full-blooded Alan supporter and I convinced him to switch to the side of President Akufo-Addo. You can support Akufo-Addo or Vice President Bawumia but don’t insult,” Agyapong told the mammoth crowd.

Regarding the criticism directed at Alan Kyerematen, Agyapong asserted that Chairman Wontumi, along with certain regional chairmen, had taken control of the National Council of the NPP and were openly and aggressively disparaging Alan Kyerematen.

“Alan is being insulted on Wontumi’s station. Wontumi is just a small boy, he is a small boy.

“It is sad that Wontumi and five chairmen – four from the northern regions and the Volta Region – have turned the National Council into a hooliganism group,” he added.

“You should see Wontumi with his dirty anger displaying at the National Council meeting, the highest decision-making organ of the party. It is sad.

“I dare him, I am going to dare him, let him try November 4, I will give them a showdown. We won’t let our sacrifices from 1992 go waste because of boys who did not know how the party was formed,” he charged.

Agyapong will vie for the NPP’s flagbearer position alongside three other contenders: Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, as the date for selecting a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party’s leader.

  • We have not approached Ken Agyapong for running mate position – Bawumia campaign team

We have not approached Ken Agyapong for running mate position – Bawumia campaign team

The campaign team for presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has refuted claims that it has engaged another aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, on the possibility of him being the running mate of the Vice President if elected flagbearer come November 2024.

In a press statement, the Bawumia campaign team noted that it “has noticed with grave concern news report by Citinewsroom.com and other media outlets in which the Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is alleged to have indicated that some members of the Bawumia Campaign team attempted to bribe him to step down and be made the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”

According to the Vice President’s camp, the “team has not approached Kennedy Agyapong for such a running mate offer” and neither “have we assigned any member of the team to approach him for the same.”

The camp also used the opportunity to shoot down claims suggesting that the Vice President is collapsing the ruling party through intimidation.

“The unity of our party has been of great concern to candidate Dr. Bawumia,” the statement issued by Gideon Boako, the spokesperson for the Vice President, read.

The statement continued: “It is in light of such concern that he refrains from responding to unwarranted attacks by others in the contest and has cautioned his supporters against responding to such provocative attacks. His strategy has been to persuade delegates to support his bid. This he does, by laying his vision for the party and country.”

“As we have always maintained, the contest for flagbearer in the NPP is an internal one, and all actors, particularly the aspirants must be guided by the core values of the NPP, which include but are not limited to truth, decorum, and respect for one another,” it concluded.

  • MPs cannot be Ministers – Ken Agyapong pledges to review Constitution

Contender for the flagbearer position within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has added his voice to the growing demands for a revision of the constitutional requirement mandating the majority of ministers to be drawn from Parliament.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central argues that this particular provision has consistently undermined the strength of the parliamentary body, resulting in a limited capacity for scrutinizing the actions of the executive branch of government.

“No Member of Parliament should be a minister, it weakens parliament. Per the Constitution, about 70% of ministers must be MPs, I totally disagree, we have to change it,” he submitted on US-based Kings Radio on September 24.

“If 70% of the legislature is part of the executive, it amounts to self-scrutiny. Parliament should be an independent body… we are humans, if my colleague MP is a minister, they get passes but those who are not get drilled,” he explained.

Mr Agyapong said he was well aware of a big pushback on his position, adding: “but that is why I want a referendum. MPs also want to be ministers to sign contracts.”

He expressed frustration over the challenges faced by Members of Parliament, highlighting that MPs encounter difficulties such as car loans and immediate salary deductions from the beginning of their terms. This is in contrast to CEOs of government departments and agencies who receive official cars, some of which they can purchase at a significantly reduced price upon completing their tenures.

Kennedy Agyapong, who has served in parliament for over two decades, is eyeing the NPP flagbearer position as his next political endeavor.

Agyapong will be competing for the flagbearer position alongside three other contenders, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, as the date to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the leader of the party.

  • Ken Agyapong won’t leave NPP even if he loses; he will support Bawumia – Palgrave

Ken Agyapong won’t leave NPP even if he loses; he will support Bawumia – Palgrave

The Government spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, expressed confidence that flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong would remain loyal to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) even if he doesn’t win the primaries.

In contrast to Alan Kyerematen, Boakye-Danquah stated that Agyapong would throw his support behind Dr. Bawumia to ensure the party’s success in the 2024 elections.

When discussing Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, the government spokesperson emphasized Agyapong’s strong commitment to the NPP, underlining his belief that Agyapong would not depart from the party.

“Should Dr Mahamudu Bawumia become the flagbearer of the NPP, I believe that my senior Kennedy Agyapong will support him. I believe this very well because Kennedy Agyapong is a proper NPP man. I don’t see that he would leave the party,” he said.

Mr. Boakye Danquah is also confident that Mr. Agyapong will accept the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries in November, even if he doesn’t emerge as the winner.

Government spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah,

The NPP presidential race currently features five prominent figures, including Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Francis Addai Nimoh, and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The government spokesperson on security emphasized that all these contenders have made significant contributions to the party and possess the capability to lead the party into the general elections.

He further encouraged all candidates to pledge their support to the delegate-elected presidential candidate of the party, regardless of the election outcome.

“When the delegates make the decision and you don’t become the winning candidate, you should thank the delegates for voting for you to lose honourably and support whoever wins the election,” he entreated all aspirants.

Nevertheless, Mr. Boakye Danquah holds strong confidence that Dr. Bawumia will secure the NPP’s flagbearer position, particularly in light of his significant victory during the national super delegates’ conference.

On another note, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled November 4, 2023, as the date for its presidential primary to select the flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

In recent statements, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong has made remarks that cast doubt on his endorsement of Dr. Bawumia as a viable candidate for the NPP in the 2024 elections.

Furthermore, his contentious statements during the NPP’s super delegates conference, where he implied a potential showdown with President Nana Akufo-Addo, have been interpreted as signaling his lack of support for the Vice President, who many perceive as the establishment’s preferred candidate.

  • They are the same, Ken Agyapong saying the same thing Akufo-Addo said prior to presidency – Osei Akoto

The 2020 parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Oforikrom constituency, Henry Osei Akoto, has likened the campaign strategy of Assin Central’s Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong, to that of the current president, Akufo-Addo.

In a tweet, Osei Akoto stated that the MP, who is seeking to secure the NPP’s flagbearer position and potentially become the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections, is adopting a campaign style reminiscent of how the president conducted his campaign before winning his initial election.

“The way Kennedy Agyapong is talking is the same way Akufo-Addo spoke before becoming president.

“They are the same,” he wrote.

The National Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to choose a new flagbearer in November 2023.

However, a significant development has shaken up the party’s internal dynamics. One of the prominent contenders in the race, Alan Kyerematen, has opted to withdraw from the competition and subsequently resigned from the party.

Additionally, the former Minister of Trade and Industry has declared his intention to run as an independent presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

This unexpected turn of events has added an element of intrigue to the party’s internal politics and the upcoming presidential race.

  • Is it necessary for northerners to be faces of Ghanaian politics? – Ken Agyapong

New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, has warned his party against engaging in ethnic politics.

He warns that doing so will be detrimental to the party’s long-term survival and development, echoing his broader plea for fair treatment of all candidates in the next flagbearership competition.

He claimed that there have been unacceptable incidents in which certain northerners have vowed not to vote in the 2024 elections unless Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is named NPP flagbearer.

“Assuming the Vice President becomes the flagbearer… northerners go out there to say that without one of them, they won’t vote. Let Akans say the same and let’s see what happens.

“You have some elders saying that Mahama is challenging the NPP to present a northerner against the argument that NPP uses and dumps northerners. So those behind Bawumia seem to be listening to Mahama,” he submitted during a September 24 interview on US-based Kings Radio.

Agyapong also noted the possibility of northern candidates flooding the ballot paper in 2024, citing former President John Dramani Mahama’s nomination with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Hassan Ayariga of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Mahama is a northerner, assuming he wins; he is a northerner, Ayariga is a northerner and you’d get other northerners. Does it mean the face of Ghana politics will be only northerners? What at all is this?

“Things people cannot say is what I say, because the NPP must be careful with the tribal politics being played in the north, I am drawing their attention,” Agyapong added.

After winning the preliminary round of voting on August 26, Bawumia is in pole position to become the NPP’s flagbearer.

He received more than 68% of total votes cast, finishing first out of a field of ten candidates.

The final election is scheduled for November 4, with Bawumia competing against three other candidates: Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

  • Desperation: Ken Agyepong attacks Bawumia again

Prospective flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has again attacked Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia with allegations of securing vice presidential slots for some MPs in the Ashanti Region.

During an interview on US-based Kings Radio on September 24, 2023, Agyapong expressed apprehension regarding the internal political dynamics, which have often resulted in escalating violence.

He lamented the concerning rise in violence during intra-party elections, noting that certain NPP members become increasingly aggressive during these contests.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central alleged that seven Ashanti Regional MPs had been promised the vice presidential nomination by another flagbearer contender, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Agyapong argued that if Bawumia were to become the party’s flagbearer, it could potentially lead the NPP into the opposition. He emphasized his determination to resist any actions that could jeopardize the NPP’s chances of remaining in power.

He continued, “What they are doing in the Ashanti region, 47 MPs have been intimidated, all because of one vice president position. They have promised 7 of the Ashanti regional MPs for the vice president’s slots, and they are pushing everybody because they want the vice president position.”

He added: “One vice president, 17 people are contesting for the slot and because of that they have been blinded, they know they will lose, because how can the vice president beat Mahama?

“It is not possible upon all his utterances. Yet, because of greed and selfishness they want us to go into opposition and I will resist that, I won’t allow us go into opposition.”

Kennedy is set to vie for the party’s flagbearer position, competing against three other contenders: Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has scheduled the leadership succession vote for November 4, 2023, to determine President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s successor as the party’s leader.

  • Compulsory military training for all service personnel, Uni graduates – Ken Agyapong announces

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, has announced his intention to mandate a six-month military training program for national service personnel if he assumes the presidency

His plan stems from his assertion that there is no discipline in the country, hence, his concern to put things in order.

In a time of media engagement on September 24, the Assin Central MP stated, “I will put National Service personnel to good use. Because of indiscipline in Ghana, every National Service person, every university graduate will serve six months in the military,” he told host of the programme.

“You will serve six months in the military before completing your remaining six months National Service,” he stressed.

National Service is a program that requires students from tertiary institutions across the nation to dedicate a year to serving in public or private institutions.

Often, they are deployed to various regions to bolster the government workforce and receive a monthly stipend.

Agyapong, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has introduced a Presidential philosophy called ‘PHD’ for his bid, emphasizing Patriotism, Honesty, and Discipline. Over the past few months, he has conducted nationwide tours, engaging with delegates and presenting his political, economic, social, and leadership plans as the NPP’s November 4 presidential primaries draw near.

The four contenders in the race include Kennedy Agyapong, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former MP Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The victor in the primaries will succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party’s leader and lead the NPP into the 2024 General Elections.

  • Kennedy Agyapong attacks Bawumia again

    Kennedy Agyapong attacks Bawumia again

A hopeful candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, has again launched a pointed criticism at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

This critique comes in response to claims made by supporters of Vice President Bawumia that ken Agyapong is not fit for the presidential role.

During his recent tour in the United States over the weekend, Ken Agyapong addressed NPP members. He emphasized his track record of creating thousands of well-paying jobs for Ghanaians. In contrast, he questioned Vice President Bawumia’s qualifications for the presidency, pointing out a perceived lack of job creation associated with him.

Agyapong, who currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, went further to suggest that even the domestic help of Dr. Bawumia is financially supported by the government.

“Every entrepreneur has a creative mind… I have been able to employ over 7,000 Ghanaians, and you tell me I am not a presidential material while the person who you say is a presidential material’s houseboy is paid by the government.

“You say this guy is presidential material. Someone who would not have anything to do when you remove him from the government today is a presidential material,” he said in Twi.

“You don’t pay your bill and you come out saying you’re a presidential material. Your pocket is empty and you say you are presidential material, your pocket is empty. The government is paying for your house girl, the government is paying for your gardener, the government is paying for your security… I pay people who pay their children’s school fees and give chop money every day. The two of us who is a presidential material?” he quizzed.

He says critics label him as not “presidential material,” but he remains undeterred. He lamented Ghana’s untapped potential, citing visionless leadership for widespread poverty despite abundant natural resources.

  • $5000 was paid by Kennedy Agyapong for just one vote in Bawumia’s home region – NPP communicators

$5000 was paid by Kennedy Agyapong for just one vote in Bawumia’s home region – NPP communicators

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gearing up for its presidential primary to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

The party has set November 4th 2023, as the date for its national congress to choose among the 10 aspirants who have filed their nominations. However, the race has been marred by allegations of vote-buying and inducement by some of the candidates.

According to some NPP communicators, who spoke on condition of anonymity, some of the aspirants have been splashing cash on delegates to secure their votes. They claimed that one of the aspirants, Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a businessman, paid $5000 each to three delegates in the North East Region.

“When NPP conducted their Super Delegates Conference, everyone got a share of the money distributed. Everyone gave money out. If fact, Kwabena Agyepong said when we went round to do his campaigns, people were asked to leave their various places to meet you (candidate) and so giving them a token for transportation is not wrong. Another candidate (Kennedy Agyapong) also selected 3 individuals in North East Region and gave them $5,000,” they said.

The communicators said that Kennedy Agyapong was not the only one who engaged in such practices, as other aspirants also distributed money and gifts to delegates across the country. They cited an example of another aspirant, who gave GH20,000 each to some selected executives in a region.

“So if you gave someone GHS100 and other gave GHS500, why do you make a fuss about it. Meanwhile, when investigations are over, it could be said that you paid GHS1000. I know a Region where an authority said some of the executives are not in support of him. He selected those who supported him and gave each GH20, 000,” they added.

They said that such acts of bribery and corruption were undermining the credibility and integrity of the party and its internal democracy. They called on the party leadership and the Electoral Commission to investigate and sanction the culprits. They also urged the delegates to vote based on merit and vision, not on money and material benefits.

Kennedy Agyapong has not responded to the allegations yet. He is one of the frontrunners in the NPP flagbearership race, along with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. He has declared his intention to transform Ghana into an industrialized nation with his wealth of experience and expertise in business.

  • Aid to Bawumia downplays Ken Agyapong’s eligibility to become president

Aid to Bawumia downplays Ken Agyapong’s eligibility to become president

The vice president’s spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako, has responded to an accusation made by Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a candidate for the NPP’s flagbearer position, that the vice president is aware of the identity of the person who murdered journalist Ahmed Suale.

Dr. Boako claims that the statement was pretty careless and unworthy of an NPP flagbearer candidate.

“I have seen a headline published by the Ghana Post newspaper and some online portals on Ahmed Suale and the Vice President’s name mentioned. This is simply a reckless statement not befitting of anyone who wants to lead the NPP. Where did we sleep as a party to wake up to this just because of elections?” he questioned in a Twitter poste dated September 19, 2023.

Dr. Boako’s statement came as a response to an interview on Kessben TV featuring Kennedy Agyapong. During this interview, Agyapong addressed the suggestion that the NPP might face consequences if he were to secure the party’s flagbearership due to allegations of his involvement in the murder of Ahmed Suale.

In his September 18, 2023 interview, Agyapong vehemently denied any connection to Suale’s death, reiterating his innocence. He also raised questions, saying, “Those who compiled the 10 accusations against Ken Agyapong in support of Bawumia—Bawumia is the vice president and heads the Police Council. They are aware of the individuals responsible for Ahmed Suale’s murder. Why haven’t they come forward with that information? Yet, they are pointing fingers at me.” He expressed these thoughts in Twi during the interview.

“If you are a government and your national security (architecture) does not know the person who killed Ahmed Suale, then it means you don’t know what you are doing. Is this one of the ten sins of Kennedy Agyapong?” he added.

    About Suale’s murder:

Ahmed Suale was assassinated in Madina on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, by two unknown assailants.

The assailants shot him twice in his chest and once in his neck after breaking into his car.

The Ghana Police Service is still investigating his murder, but no one has been arrested yet.

Ken Agyapong has been blamed for the murder of Suale because he once urged people to beat him up on live TV after disclosing his identity and address.

  • Keep Dampare as IGP, Ken Agyapong warns NPP

Keep Dampare as IGP, Ken Agyapong warns NPP

Parliament’s Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee and a presidential aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has emphatically stated that removing Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from his position as Inspector General of Police (IGP) would be a significant mistake on the part of the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Agyapong, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and harbors aspirations to lead the NPP in the upcoming 2024 elections, underscored the remarkable performance of Dr. Dampare in his role as IGP, a performance that, according to him, is readily apparent to all observers.

During a radio interview conducted on Kumasi-based Kessben FM over the weekend, Mr. Agyapong asserted that there has been a noticeable reduction in criminal activities such as robberies throughout the country since Dr. Dampare assumed the role of IGP.

This declaration from Mr. Agyapong has emerged amidst heightened public interest in the activities of a special parliamentary committee, tasked with investigating an alleged conspiracy involving some senior police officers seeking to remove Dr. Dampare from his position, as purportedly captured in a recorded conversation.

Mr. Agyapong passionately argued that Dr. Dampare ranks among the finest individuals to have ever held the position of IGP in Ghana’s history, and as such, the government should resist any efforts aimed at ousting him from office.

“How many times have you heard of armed robbery since Dampare was made IGP? People were being killed and their money was being stolen in broad daylight. How many times have you seen this since Dampare came into office? Under him, the rate of armed robbery has reduced drastically”, he said.

He was of the view that the IGP was not being treated fairly, “Since I became the head of the Defence and Interior Committee, we have had a number of IGPs, and this man (Dampare), what he has done, I don’t think we are being fair to him… Don’t make the mistake of removing him.

Mr Agyapong also said the IGP has transformed the police headquarters such that the place now looks so clean and beautiful.

“I have called one of the guys (in the leaked tape) who is from my village and blasted him. We don’t like change,” he added.

“If you go to the police headquarters, you will realize that the man (Dr Dampare) has done well… I have fought with him once because of his refusal to act when the killer of J.B. Danquah confessed to him, but he has done really well”.

  • Ken Agyapong offering electorates free rides with ‘Showdown’ bus

Ken Agyapong offering electorates free rides with ‘Showdown’ bus

Presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has beefed up his campaign ahead of the party’s Presidential Primary slated for November 4, 2023.

For about a week, the Assin Central MP has been providing free rides to electorates via a bus branded with his image and campaign message.

In a video circulating on social media, a female staunch supporter called on citizens to hop on, while entreating them to vote for Mr Agyapong as President come the 2024 election.

“This is Honourable Kennedy Agyapong’s handiwork, Accra free; come and pick the car and vote for him, showdown man.”

The bus transported individuals stationed at Kwame Nkrumah Circle who were heading to Accra.

Mr Kennedy Agyapong has secured the top position on the ballot paper for the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary on November 4.

In the balloting process conducted, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been assigned the second spot, followed by Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto in the third position, and Francis Addai Nimo in the fourth position.

At the end of the NPP’s Super Delegates Conference held on August 26, 2023, he placed third after obtaining 10.29% of the votes cast, while Dr Bawumia, considered the front runner, obtained 68.15% of the total valid votes.

  • 5 ways Kennedy Agyapong campaigned for Mahama and NDC at Show Down Walk

5 ways Kennedy Agyapong campaigned for Mahama and NDC at Show Down Walk

Flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Agyapong seem to be making the campaign message of the National Democratic Congress much easier.

The unconventional NPP known for “rough talking” is essentially arming the NDC leader by their flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.

    Addressing participants of his fitness tour of Accra dubbed “Show Down Walk” MP said the following;

NPP lost election 2024 in 2022

In his speech, Agyapong asserted that the NPP lost the election for 2024 in 2022 due to the depreciation of the cedi and the effects of the Domestic Debt Exchange scheme, which destroyed middle-class and elderly savings.

“We lost the 2024 elections in 2022. At the time the Ghana cedi destroyed the hard work of many businessmen, all the way to the tomato seller. Ghanaians will never forget that.

“The time the middle class went to court because their monies were lost, and the time the pensioners had their monies gone, Ghanaians will remember that,” he stated.

Slots in police being sold to party people

“You are a delegate, they’ve asked us to be mute but I will speak, because if your child is going to look for a job and you can be asked to bring 10,000 cedis before your child would be recruited into the police…

“These same people are coming to you seeking your votes, so that your children remain jobless,” Agyapong jabbed without addressing the specific persons he was referring to as “they.”

He continued by praising his own track record of creating jobs, emphasizing how well he distinguished out from the other NPP flagbearer candidates.

Ghana needs pragmatic leaders not theorists and talkers

“If Ghana will prosper, it needs pragmatic leaders not theorists who bombard you with big English repeatedly even when you are poor.

“We need a local language speaking leader who will speak in clear terms and also work to ensure you have money in your pocket,” Agyapong said stressing that as a businessman and politician he had the perfect leadership traits and balance to turn Ghana around.

Misuse of resources led us to IMF

“God has blessed us with so much that if we took proper care of them, there would be no need to go to the foreigners for help,” he stated.

This is a covert barb at the government’s ongoing program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which has already delivered the first installment of a US$3 billion bailout, or US$600 million.

    Youth unemployment is rising

“Ghanaians are ready to give Kennedy Agyapong a chance, the onus is now on New Patriotic Party (NPP) members to elect Ken Agyapong to rescue Ghana for young people to get jobs.

“A country with a youth who have a bleak future is no country,” he stated in a speech that was punctuated with his jobs record and how he would tackle unemployment.

  • “My expectation is to win because I am a grassroots man” -Kennedy Agyapong

“My expectation is to win because I am a grassroots man” -Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a candidate vying for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position, encouraged party delegates to cast their votes based on their beliefs and values rather than being influenced by monetary incentives or coercion.

During a press conference following the balloting on September 13, 2023, for the November 4 vote, he reiterated his confidence that the delegates would select him as the flagbearer due to his steadfast dedication to their shared cause.

“My expectation is to win because I am a grassroots man, I have been fighting for the ordinary people ever since, so I know for sure that no matter the amount of money they are going to offer or the intimidation they may employ, the delegates will use their conscience to vote for the candidate who genuinely understands their plight.”

The delegates, he emphasized, are not solely interested in the present, but also in the future of the party and the nation. His confidence in their ability to make the right choice was evident.

“They don’t think of today but they think of tomorrow. So, I have confidence in the delegates that no matter the amount they are given, they have the wisdom to choose the best candidate.

“The man who actually understands the plights of the polling stations executives and the ordinary people in this country. So, I have confidence that come November 4th, despite any intimidations or whatever, the delegates are going to speak.”

The Presidential Elections Committee recently conducted an interactive session with the four candidates competing in the NPP presidential primaries, set to take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

During this session, the participants reached a consensus on the modalities and procedures that will govern the forthcoming election.

With the oversight of officials from the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the Elections Committee conducted a ballot process to determine the sequence in which the candidates will appear on the ballot.

Here is the order in which the contestants will be listed on the ballot:

    1. Ken Ohene Agyapong

    2. Mahamudu Bawumia

    3. Owusu Afriyie Akoto

    4. Francis Addai-Nimoh

  • Ken Agyapong and others should follow Alan’s footsteps and withdraw – Nana Akomea

Ken Agyapong and others should follow Alan’s footsteps and withdraw – Nana Akomea

Communications Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, Nana Akomea, has voiced his support for former Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a recurring presidential aspirant, announced his withdrawal from the presidential race’s second round on Tuesday, September 5.

He cited concerns over electoral irregularities, perceived unfair treatment, and bias during the super delegates’ conference, where he unexpectedly secured third place.

While Kyerematen has not disclosed his future plans following his withdrawal, he mentioned his intention to consult with his family and team members. He plans to make an announcement regarding his future role in Ghana’s political landscape.

In response to this announcement during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen on Wednesday, September 6, Nana Akomea, representing Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, expressed his view that Alan’s withdrawal is a positive development for the party.

He encouraged other contenders to follow suit and throw their support behind the party’s apparent frontrunner.

“My elder brother, Alan Kyerematen’s withdrawal from the second round of the NPP flagbearer race is good news. It is something I was expecting, and now I am expecting more people to withdraw from the race.”

Mr Ken Agyapong, one of the candidates has made known his unwavering commitment to participate in the NPP Primaries come November 4.

Asked by the host of the show, Osei Bonsu [Alias OB], whether he expects Mr. Kyerematen and his supporters to throw their weight behind Dr. Bawumia, Nana Akomea responded in the affirmative.

“I think so. Once you take the lead, you are the one everyone wants to associate with. Everybody likes a winning team. So, we will speak with Alan and his supporters to come and join us. The reason why I said I expect all the others to withdraw from the race is that, the party has clearly shown where its heart is. If in an election of 10 contestants, the vote of nine people cannot even match the half of what one person got, then it is really clear where the party’s heart is so what is the need for the contest?” he quizzed.

“And that’s how the NPP behaves. When it decides on where it wants to go, it is very clear. So once the party decides there’s nothing anyone can do. With how the results went on August 26, if I was among the race I would have withdrawn, and that’s why I am not surprised Alan pulled out” he noted.

“Apart from 2008 where there were about 17 people, one person still had 47 percent and that’s Akufo-Addo. When he [Akufo-Addo] came back in 2010, look at the votes he got, it was decisive. In 2014, the election was done twice like we did now because the people were more than five. In that super delegates’ conference Nana Addo had 80%. When they still insisted on going to the second round, Nana Addo moved from his 80% to 94%” he argued.

In response to the claims made by Mr. Kyerematen as his basis for withdrawing from the race, Nana Akomea said he sympathizes with the former Trade Minister who is speaking out of hurt because his effort has gone down the drain.

“It’s not even two weeks after the election. Election is hard work and it entails a lot. Look at the time Alan resigned from cabinet and the campaigning he’s been doing, one can easily be pained after such a process only to perform this way. We are humans with emotions, we are not machines, so losing an election hurts. So we expect some emotional reaction which is normal. But when the heart is calm, I believe everyone will see good reason and come to terms with the reality.”

The one-time Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), said Alan’s reaction today is similar to what he exhibited prior to the 2008 elections where he resigned and later rejoined the party to campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo.

“This is not the first time. If you remember what happened in 2008, the same Alan Kyerematen resigned from the party. He also said the party intimidated his supporters and so he was leaving the party which he did. But eventually when he was calm, he joined Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign for the election. So, for those of us who won, we are prepared to be magnanimous in victory and won’t disrespect anyone.

Nana Akomea also downplayed all the issues Alan raised as the basis for his withdrawal.

“If you look at the issues Alan raised, they’re not fair. If you say the rules were tilted for one person to have an advantage, what do you mean by that? The election committee engaged all aspirants and gave people the register and listened to everyone’s concerns. The balloting was done fairly, and the Electoral Commission supervised the elections fairly. So, how was the process skewed for one person? The only issue they raised was that the election should be centralized, but the party said that couldn’t be done in the midst of the arrangements that had been made. So, if you wait to lose the election only to claim that the rules have been skewed, then that’s unfair” he argued.

According to Nana Akomea, Alan Kyerematen equally got the support of some key party people including MPs and Chief Executives as well as Ministers of state, and so it would be unfair for him to have issues with similar support for Dr. Bawumia.

“He [Alan] also had leading members and influential people making pronouncements for him. So if he says utterances or pronouncements by leading members showed that the process was skewed, that is neither here nor there.”

Mr. Akomea also expressed his disagreement with Mr. Kyerematen’s allegations of supposed intimidation of his supporters during the election.

Regarding the incident involving Mr. Kyerematen’s agent in the North East Region, who sustained injuries, Nana Akomea asserted that the agent’s actions led to his unfortunate situation. He claimed that the agent initiated an altercation when he had the alternative to report his concerns to the election officials overseeing the process.

Nana Akomea emphasized that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his team had invested considerable effort in securing the results and support they had garnered. They achieved this by extensively touring the country to engage with the party delegates.

  • Ghanaians succumb to maltreatment from foreign employers – Ken Agyapong

Ghanaians succumb to maltreatment from foreign employers – Ken Agyapong

Politician and Ghanaian lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong, has criticized Ghanaians for their lack of discipline, honesty, and corruption.

He believes that indiscipline and dishonesty are ingrained traits in Ghanaians from birth. Agyapong asserts that this is why foreigners conducting business in the country exploit their employees.

Despite the harsh treatment they endure from these foreign employers, Ghanaians continue to work under these conditions without resistance.

Agyapong further argued that the situation is entirely different when a fellow Ghanaian provides employment. In such cases, employees tend to handle their jobs carelessly and may even exhibit a sense of entitlement.

“What has been inculcated in us from when we were born, makes us very bad people, very dishonest people until somebody uses a cane or harsh words on us, we don’t even realize that that is not the way to live as a human being.

“An example is these foreigners, the way they treat Ghanaian workers and they succumb to it and work but when you give them jobs, the way they treat their own, my sister, it is horrible. That is why the foreigners are succeeding. Imagine you are working with me, you’ve done something wrong and I fire you, you get the pastor coming to beg, the minister coming to beg, my mother coming to beg but when a Chinese fires you, nobody goes to him, when Indian fires you, nobody goes to him, Lebanese nobody goes to him,” he told Dentaa in 2021 on Odana Network on YouTube.

The politician, who is presently running for president, noted that Ghanaians generally lack discipline because of their too sympathetic outlook.

He asserts that, despite its difficulty, changing the narrative is not impossible.

  • Ken Agyapong set to donate rice to delegates in Ashanti Region – report

Ken Agyapong set to donate rice to delegates in Ashanti Region – report

A video circulating on social media suggests that New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates from the Ashanti Region might receive donations from flagbearer contender Kennedy Agyapong.

A widely circulated video on GhanaWeb shows three trucks delivering shipments of rice to Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign office in the region.

In the video, a male voice could be heard saying: “This is for us in Ashanti Region, three trucks. All the trucks you see are filled with rice. This is the campaign office of Honourable Kennedy Agyapong in the Ashanti Region where we are offloading the rice.”

It is believed that these items will be disseminated to delegates ahead of the party’s November primaries. This claim has not been confirmed as of now. Mr Agyapong, the Assin Central MP, strongly insists he has a greater chance at becoming the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer.

This comes after the Super Delegates Conference held on August 26, where he secured the second slot, behind Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mahamudu Bawumia won the super delegates conference with a total of 629 votes, representing 68.15% of the total valid votes.

Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong came in second with 132 votes, or 14.30% while former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen placed third with 95 votes, or 10.29%.

These three are considered the main contenders. The fourth and fifth slots are occupied by former Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh respectively.

Bawumia in trouble, more expenses await him to underhaul ‘showdown’- Fuseini Donkor

Former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Afram Plains, Fuseini Donkor has entreated the camp of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to ensure some candidates do not cross a certain threshold in the upcoming November 4, 2023, presidential primaries.

He noted that failure to adhere to this caution, would potentially spell disaster for the Bawumia camp. He cited for instance, if a candidate like Kennedy Agyapong manages to secure 30 percent of the votes cast at the end of the race, it could drastically shift the dynamics and weaken Bawumia’s standing in the election.

Speaking in an interview on Sompa Tv, he noted that it was obvious Kennedy Agyapong was going to beat Alan Kyerematen, from his observation and further stressed the need for the Bawumia camp to ensure that Ken does not score 30% or more votes.

“Alan has a rural bank [and] Ken Agyapong does not have any bank like Alan does. He [Ken] is doing joint ventureship with Bawumia. Bawumia’s commercial bank is where he’s made his deposit and intends to share the profit with him and that’s the danger for Bawumia now. Alan has a rural bank he solely owns.

“I knew Ken would beat Alan because of how he was rising and if they are not careful and he gets more than 30% votes, they are in trouble. This means there would be a runoff. And I’m very sure Alan will get about 20% so in the event of the second round, Bawumia is in trouble, but if he and his team work hard and spend more, they can win between 50 to 55 but if they allow Ken to cross 30%, there’s a second round,” he added.

He made the remarks in the aftermath of the NPP‘s Super Delegates Conference and in the lead up of party’s much anticipated primaries. Giving his remarks on the outcome of the results, he noted that he was particularly surprised at the results in Central region.

“My biggest surprise was in Central Region. Some say Bawumia won 22 votes and others say he 25 against 19 for Ken Agyapong. It means in the General elections, Ken will beat them in Central Region and that’s where the showdown will happen,” he added.

Opambour slams Ken Agyapong over his temper; questions who would vote for such a candidate

General Overseer of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, Reverend Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, commonly referred to as Opambour, has responded to the recent verbal outburst and intimidation conveyed by Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a contender for the leadership position within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

During an appearance on Prophet 1 TV, Reverend Opambour advised Kennedy Agyapong to adopt a humble attitude and exhibit a calm demeanor. He highlighted that allowing anger to take control would not be beneficial for Kennedy Agyapong’s political ambitions.

His counsel follows Kennedy Agyapong’s emotional outburst aimed at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the New Patriotic Party’s super delegates elections, which took place on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

The MP’s aggressive comments were captured on video, as he protested alleged mishandling of his agent at the North East Regional voting centre.

In an interaction with his junior pastor, who asked his views on Kennedy Agyapong’s showdown remarks, Opambuor asked rhetorically, “So, if we are showing president’s showdown, then what will happen to me then?”

He added “Nobody can do anything, listen to what I am saying: Ghana belongs to God, and in the name of Jesus, no power can rise, God will make it bow. So, there is nothing that will happen.”

He further cautioned against the potential consequences of displaying anger and making threats, warning that such behavior could deter voters from supporting Agyapong’s bid.

“When you become this angry, who will vote for you to become president? With such anger…so everything has to do with patience because, with patience, you shall achieve your result,” he advised.

How Ken Agyapong’s campaign manager roped in IGP in Nalerigu incident involving MP’s rep

National campaign coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong‘s candidacy for flagbearer, Kwame Owusu, has disclosed how an incident concerning their polling agent in the North East Region was resolved.

He mentioned that upon being informed by the female agent in the region about the difficulties she was encountering, he brought the matter to the notice of the Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, who skillfully facilitated a resolution.

During an interview with Oman FM shortly after Kennedy Agyapong’s passionate outburst at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super Delegates Conference voting on Saturday (August 26), he explained that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) instructed the local police to address the situation. This resulted in the resolution of the standoff, leading to the replacement of the agent from the Ken Agyapong team at the center.

“I interceded and I called quickly and I got the police and the IGP put people on line and we have our representative there who is making sure that things are ok…

“I called in the Inspector-General of Police, he has been so helpful, he got the commander there and we have been able to resolve the issue… Ganiyu our second agent is there and we spoke to him and he said he is okay,” he stressed.

Ken Agyapong descended into a fit while speaking to Oman FM alleging that his polling agent had been chased from the Nalerigu regional polling station in the North East Region – believed to be a stronghold of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

He threatened to give the president and Bawumia a ‘showdown’ and to ensure the party lands in opposition if that is what they want by mistreating aspirants in the flagbearership race.

Agyapong, who came a distant second in the super delegates vote is currently the subject of summons to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee over his comments.

Wontumi reveals source of Agyapong’s ‘misplaced anger’

Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi; disclosed the source of the information that caused Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong to go ‘into a fit.’

Wontumi, in an interview with Metro TV revealed that it was Kwame Owusu, a former boss of the Ghana Maritime Authority, who called Kennedy to inform him about the said development.

“Something happened in the Northern Region and the people who were there just called Kennedy to tell him, it was specifically my uncle, Kwame Owusu… he called Kennedy and you know at a time like this his energy will be high.

“And you are not there but called him to say this what has happened, meanwhile we have police and agents there, so, why do you have to talk?” he stressed.

He said Kwame Owusu, who was in Kumasi, was talking to Ken in intervals of five to 10 minutes in his capacity as a campaign lead for the Assin Central MP, giving updates from across the country.
