Results for Kennedy Agyapong at the Nhyiaeso constituency in the just-ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer race have come as a surprise to Member of Parliament for Nyhiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah.
According to Stephen Amoah, he expected Mr Agyapong to earn a comfortable victory, due to the investments made by his campaign team.
“It’s very surprising because I thought Kennedy was going to win by 60%,” Dr Amoah said.
the lawmaker said the strong presence and intensive campaign activities of the Ken Campaign in the area had created expectations of a different result, adding that the outcome fell short of what many people on the ground had predicted.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has so far been declared the winner in Nhyiaeso.
Former Dome–Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, says she fears for her safety and future if Kennedy Agyapong becomes President of Ghana.
She claimed that the last NPP government was run in a way that favoured family members and close friends, a situation she believes largely led to the party’s poor showing in the 2024 general elections.
Adwoa Safo made the comments while campaigning for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is contesting to become the NPP’s flagbearer. She argued that choosing Kennedy Agyapong as the party’s leader would be a wrong decision for the NPP.
She referenced her personal relationship with the former Assin Central MP, saying:
“I have two children with Kennedy Agyapong, but I can assure you that if he becomes president and I send my Curriculum Vitae to his office, there is no way he will employ me because he wouldn’t be running a family and friends government.
“I am not saying he will become president, but let us assume he does. If I submit my CV to his office, considering the work I have done as a Minister and as a Deputy Majority Leader, and he looks at me and says, ‘You are the woman I have two children with, so I am appointing you as a minister,’ there will be chaos in Ghana if he goes down that path.”
Adwoa Safo added that she believes her future would be in danger if Kennedy Agyapong became president, saying the party needs to pick someone who can bring members together and win back the trust of the public.
“The Kennedy Agyapong I know would never appoint me, and that is why my political career and my future would be at stake if he becomes president,” she stated.

On the other hand, former Energy Minister and running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has decided to throw his weight behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s presidential primaries in 2026.
In an interview on Asempa FM on August 26, the former minister noted that he remains grateful to the former Vice President who decided to make him his running mate despite the many individuals who advised him to do otherwise.
According to Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, Dr Bawumia was engaged countless times by some bigwigs in the party to pick someone else to be his running mate.
“I am not ungrateful. Look at this big party and upon all the people who were praying for the running mate slot, he ignored all of them and made me his running mate.”
“I know it was a difficult situation, but a lot of people don’t know. Some bigwigs in the party went to Dr Bawumia to tell him not to make me the running mate but he ignored them. There are some names that if I mentioned, you would be shocked. Some even took him to offices to advise him against me but still he chose me,” he remarked.
He thus said; “So, I cannot be ungrateful to him… For those who stood in the flagbearership contest, everyone knows Kennedy Agyapong is my friend, but I am still for Bawumia.”
On Tuesday, July 29, the NPP opened nominations for its 2028 flagbearer position. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 flagbearer and former Vice President, Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Agyepong, and Dr. Osei Adutwum have all picked up nomination forms.
Former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, officially filed his nomination forms on Tuesday, August 26. Party executives are also expected to receive the nomination forms from former Assin Central MP and presidential hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong today, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, ahead of the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
In the meantime, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has received strong backing from 268 former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), who paid him a visit in June to pledge their support.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made room for new additions to its already approximately 220,000 delegates who are eligible to vote in its presidential primaries slated for Saturday, January 31, next year.
In a statement dated August 26, signed and shared by the Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, Williams Yamoah, the party announced that registration has been opened for an additional 60,000 new delegates, which include nineteen new categories of people. This directive follows reforms adopted at the party’s National Annual Delegates Conference held in Accra on Saturday, July 19.
The statement explained: “In accordance with Article 13(1)(11) of the Constitution of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and pursuant to the motion on transitional provisions adopted at the National Annual Delegates Conference held in Accra on Saturday, July 19, 2025, the following new categories of Party officials and dignitaries have been included in the upcoming Presidential Primary voter register.”
The updated voter register, also known as the party album, will now include several new categories of officials and dignitaries. These are: all former regional and constituency executives, members of the National Council of Elders, 30 members of the National Council of Patrons, all past national officers, former party-card-bearing MPs and parliamentary candidates, as well as former party-card-bearing ministers and deputy ministers.
Other groups added to the list are external branch executives, former external branch executives, and key members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), including presidents of recognised institutions, the National TESCON Coordinator, regional coordinators, and one TESCON patron from each institution.
Additionally, 10 members from each Regional Council of Elders, 10 patrons from each region, and five members and patrons from each constituency have also been included.
The statement directed that “all officers that fall under the categories above are requested to register their names with their respective organisational structures, including the National Secretariat, Regions, Constituencies and External Branches, as applicable, with immediate effect.”
To make the registration process easier, the statement clarified that a digital link would be circulated to External Branch Executives for online registration. All other qualified members were advised to liaise with their respective regions and constituencies to register.
However, the forms are to be accessed via the party’s official website. “The registration form may be downloaded from the Party’s official website. For ease of reference, a sample copy is hereby attached,” excerpts of the statement read. The statement further warned that the registration was strictly for the aforementioned categories of people, with a deadline set for Friday, September 19.
“The deadline for registration is Friday, September 19, 2025. Please be advised that this registration exercise is exclusively open to officers and members who meet the aforementioned criteria. The Presidential Elections Committee shall undertake a comprehensive verification and validation of the Party’s album to ensure that only an authentic and credible register is used for the conduct of the presidential election,” the party cautioned, while expressing confidence in members’ cooperation.
“We count on your usual cooperation and adherence to this directive in furtherance of the Party’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and transparency.”
The NPP is on a journey of reset, reinforcement, and healing following its historic defeat in the 2024 elections. Dr. Bawumia lost the 2024 presidential election, with John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) securing 6,328,397 valid votes, representing 56.55%, against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.
Since the beginning of this year, the party has undertaken several reforms to position itself strongly against its main opponent, the NDC, and to recapture power.
Among these reforms is the abolition of the electoral college in favour of a broader base of delegates. The party has also added 19 new delegate categories and granted amnesty to suspended members.
The NPP has announced that suspended members have been reinstated, and all charges against those facing the disciplinary committee have been dropped.
This decision was taken by the National Council during an emergency meeting held on July 25. In a statement dated August 16 and signed by the Acting National Chairman of the Party, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, members were informed that as part of measures to ensure unity and cooperation, all banned members had been given the right to return.
“This measure reflects the Party’s unwavering commitment to fostering internal cohesion, strengthening solidarity, and preparing collectively for the political tasks ahead.
“I write to inform you that the National Council, at its Emergency Meeting held on Friday, July 25, 2025, resolved, in the interest of unity and reconciliation, to grant a General Amnesty to all Party members who have been suspended or whose disciplinary cases are currently pending before the appropriate disciplinary bodies,” parts of the statement read.
The party further urged all relevant bodies, including Regional and Constituency Executive Committees, to reinstate suspended members in accordance with laid-down rules and guiding principles.
“We hereby serve notice that this directive lifts all such suspensions and nullifies any ongoing proceedings against affected members,” the statement added.
However, the party clarified that this recall does not apply to members who willfully forfeited their membership. In cases where such individuals wish to return, they are required to submit a formal reinstatement request to the party’s secretariat. Upon acceptance, a two-year ban will be imposed, preventing them from contesting in any internal elections.
Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue has been named head of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential hopeful, Ken Ohene Agyapong’s, campaign team.
This information was made known in a memorandum issued by Kennedy Agyapong to all campaign team members on Tuesday, October 14. Charles Bissue has been tasked with ensuring effective communication among the various directorates and operational teams.
He is also expected to liaise with Kennedy Agyapong on official documentation and other campaign-related tasks.
“All external campaign correspondence must now be routed through the Campaign Administrator’s office. Similarly, all internal communications, reports, or documents intended for my attention must first be submitted to him,” the memo stated.
In a related development, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also vying for the NPP’s flagbearer seat, has begun a nationwide campaign. His campaign, which targets all 276 constituencies, was launched on Wednesday, October 15.
Kennedy Agyapong picked the first spot on the party’s just-concluded ballot. The exercise, conducted on Friday, October 10, was to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 31, 2026.
So far, Kwabena Agyepong, former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former MP for Assin Central Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Bryan Acheampong have all been cleared to campaign.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong picked the second position, while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took the third. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyepong took the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, officially filed his nomination forms on Tuesday, August 26.
Party executives received the nomination forms from former Assin Central MP and presidential hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong on Wednesday, August 27. Former Food and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong has also filed his nomination forms.
In the meantime, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has received strong backing from 268 former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), who paid him a visit in June to pledge their support.

Former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee against Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has expressed confidence in Kennedy Agyapong New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful.
“I have confidence in Kennedy Agyapong because for him, empathy [and] compassion… you know, hitherto we look at politics from the point where we come up with a lot of theories and then in the end we say IMF or World Bank, when I think that we should have factored all those in,” Bissue stated in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, September 11.
He expressed frustration over Ghana’s continued reliance on imports despite its vast natural resources, stressing the need for a shift toward value addition and industrialisation.
Thus, contending that Kennedy Agyapong, entrepreneurial background and strong connection with the grassroots ties makes him well-suited to address Ghana’s economic challenges and lessen reliance on external bodies like the IMF and World Bank.
“I believe that Ghana, with the natural resources that we have, I think that we should be an exporting country [of] finished goods, but we are actually importing a lot. “So I think having an entrepreneur as our leader, I think it will actually transform Ghana, ” he said.
Mr Bissue adds that several Ghanaians are vouching for him to take over the presidential seat
“Looking at the qualities of Kennedy, most Ghanaians are saying that ‘bring Kennedy, we will vote for him,’” he added.
In the same vein, Former Western North Regional Minister Joojo Rocky Obeng has lauded New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong as the only candidate openly advocating for unity in the party.
Mr Rocky Obeng stated on the Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, warned that the party risks losing or struggling to maintain power in the 2028 elections if it does not remain united.
“He is currently on his unity tour ahead of the primaries. His message and actions clearly demonstrate that he is the only one who has boldly called for unity within the party. He believes that the only way we can win the 2028 elections is through unity. If we are not unified, even if we win the elections, we cannot hold on to our victory. Unity matters to him, and to practice what he preaches, he is currently on this tour,” he stated.
“He started in Western North, visiting constituency by constituency and meeting with all the stakeholders involved. He is working to bring peace and unity to the party. Every delegate will tell you that their takeaway from every conversation with Ken Agyapong is the importance of unity,” he added.
His comment comes at a time when he claims Mr Agyapong is embarking on a Unity Tour ahead of the primaries.
He said the tour began in the Western North Region, and he is moving constituency by constituency as well as engaging with stakeholders.
A former presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has officially withdrawn from the party’s ongoing “Thank You” tour.
Mr Agyapong’s decision comes on the heels of a stabbing incident that occurred during a gathering at the Pentecost Church in Bantama, where a student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) sustained serious injuries.
The student, a member of Unity Hall’s Jama group, had been contracted by Agyapong’s campaign team to perform at the event.
According to individuals close to the politician, tensions erupted when a wealthy supporter of Agyapong offered money to the Jama performers.
Shortly after the gesture, a group of armed men—allegedly affiliated with the NPP—stormed the venue and forcibly retrieved the cash. The confrontation escalated, resulting in gunshots and the eventual stabbing of one Jama group member.
The injured student was promptly rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Agyapong’s team has since filed a formal complaint with the Kumasi Central Police Command.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Agyapong expressed deep concern about the safety of his team and supporters, confirming his decision to pull out of the national tour.
“Because of what happened yesterday, my team and I want to pull out because lives are threatened. I don’t think I can protect my team enough. So we want out so that Dr Bawumia can do his campaign,” he declared.
Meanwhile, tensions within the party’s leadership flared earlier in Berekum during a stop on Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s tour. A sharp exchange between Kennedy Agyapong and Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (popularly known as Abronye), highlighted internal divisions over the party’s post-election direction.
Abronye, in his address, stressed the need for stricter discipline and criticized members whose public statements, he claimed, had damaged the NPP’s image ahead of the elections. Citing a review by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye, he blamed internal dissent for empowering the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He firmly opposed Agyapong’s call for reconciliation with estranged or suspended members, warning that such a move would only “encourage more indiscipline and weaken party structures.”
In a passionate response, Agyapong defended his stance, advocating for unity and inclusion rather than harsh enforcement of party rules.
“Even poor people want to speak their mind—how much more those of us who have sacrificed for this party?” he remarked, a statement that drew a mixed reaction from the audience. His comment was widely interpreted as a subtle jab at Abronye.
He also criticized the Bono Regional leadership for neglecting the grassroots, which he argued contributed to the party’s disappointing performance in the recent polls.
The series of confrontations and security incidents have added layers of controversy to what was meant to be a unifying effort to thank supporters and reposition the party ahead of future contests.
Meanwhile, former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani has called on the New Patriotic Party to suspend its ongoing “Thank You Tour” and rather focus on rebuilding the party following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
He announced his intention to join the race for the party’s flagbearer position in April if nominations opened ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking publicly after withdrawing from the NPP’s nationwide ‘Thank You Tour’, Agyapong declared his unwavering commitment to the party and his readiness to contest, undeterred by what he describes as ongoing threats and intimidation.
“I am taking this opportunity to inform all that I am going to contest; nobody can stop me from doing that. They should be ready. We were part of those who built the party and sacrificed for it,” he affirmed.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament made the comments following a violent incident in Kumasi, where a young supporter reportedly suffered a stabbing attack. According to reports, the incident stemmed from the supporter’s refusal to hand over a cash gift allegedly given to him by a friend of Kennedy Agyapong.
Though Agyapong has chosen not to respond directly to accusations or previous incidents of assault, he expressed a strong resolve to seek justice for the injured student.
“In my normal style, I would have retaliated easily because we know the guy,” he noted, referring to the individual believed to have led the assault.
The case has already been reported to the police, with spent bullet shells found at the scene serving as evidence of firearms being discharged by some heavily built men.
Citing safety concerns, Agyapong explained his decision to pull out of the party’s thank-you engagements, stating that the security of his team could no longer be guaranteed.
“My team and I will have to pull out after what happened yesterday. Lives are threatened; I don’t think I can protect my team enough,” he stated.
He further expressed frustration over what he sees as deliberate attempts to marginalize his presence at party events, alleging that attendees linked to his camp have received threats and that false reports are frequently circulated to damage his reputation.
“From Berekum to Kumasi, all that has happened tells me that we are not needed. Let them do their own thing,” he remarked.
“We will also regroup ourselves, in the appropriate time we will do whatever we have to do for the party, and anything that will improve our chances,” he added.
While acknowledging Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s elected flagbearer, Agyapong insisted that the spirit of unity intended by including him in the ongoing tour has been undermined by recent developments.
“I admit Dr Bawumia was the flagbearer, so if he is going round and for the sake of unity, he invites us and it turns out to be something different, I have to stay away, so they do.”
Founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has stated that some of the allegations leveled against him by former member of Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, were not proven by the police at the time.
According to the acclaimed man of God, it is still unknown to him the kind of offence that will warrant such an allegation from the former member of parliament.
He believes that, if such claims were true from the begining, he would have been in jail by now just like Agradaa, who is currently serving a 15-year-jail term.
“They said I have a secret room where I keep blood. The police came and searched the entire church, but they couldn’t find anything,” Obinim stated in a video sighted by GhanaWeb.
In 2024, Obinim came under fire after a video emerged showing him instructing his followers to make seed offerings of at least GH¢20, dismissing smaller amounts as disrespectful to God.
In the video, Obinim urged those who had given GH¢5 or GH¢10 to retrieve their money to avoid it becoming a curse.
Despite facing significant criticism, Obinim remained unfazed, stating that the negative feedbacks did not affect him.
Pushing back against his critics, Obinim emphasized his resilience, citing unsuccessful attempts by his adversary, Kennedy Agyapong, to tarnish his reputation.
During a church service, Obinim remarked, “Kennedy Agyapong, who tried to destroy me, couldn’t succeed. If he, with all his power and wealth, failed, how much less can you? Do you know the challenges I faced because of him? I’ve been summoned by the EOCO, BNI, GRA, National Security, CID, and various courts.”
In 2020, Kennedy Agyapong launched a campaign against certain pastors, accusing them of fraud and exploiting religion.
Mr Agyapong clashed with several figures, including Obinim, leveling allegations of misconduct such as infidelity, money laundering, and spreading false teachings.
This conflict led to Obinim’s arrest by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and subsequent charges for spreading false information, fraud, and document forgery under sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act.
A strong supporter of Kennedy Agyapong, a former presidential aspirant of the opposition party, George Opoku Amponsah, has stepped away from his camp to back someone he now believes is a better choice to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
George was very active during the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries. He worked hard to get votes for Kennedy Agyapong, especially in places like Juaben and Ejisu.
Even though Kennedy lost to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who was Ghana’s vice president at the time, George’s efforts, especially on the campaign’s communication front, were highly significant.
Now, George no longer sees Kennedy as the right person to follow.
While he hasn’t publicly given detailed reasons for his decision, sources suggest that Kennedy’s attitude and how he treats people may have pushed George to walk away.
“I regret to inform you of my decision to withdraw as a member of Team Ken Communications, effective immediately”, he said in an official statement.
He stressed he is now focusing on the right candidate for the party who, to many people, is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

WITHDRAWAL FROM TEAM KEN CAMPAIGN AND COMMUNICATIONS
I regret to inform you of my decision to withdraw as a member of Team Ken Communications, effective immediately.
This decision bears no malice against Team Ken, but ultimately intended to firmly establish my unalloyed allegiance and loyalty to a NEW ASPIRANT in the impending presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party.
I wish you well in your campaign.

Private investigative firm Tiger Eye P.I. has reacted to a recent U.S. ruling reducing the damages awarded in its defamation case against former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
The U.S court initially ordered Kennedy Agyapong to compensate private investigative firm Tiger Eye P.I. with a sum of $18 million in March this year.
However, in the latest directive, the $18 million compensation has been slashed to $500, indicating that the sum set by the jury was excessive.
In a press statement on Tuesday, May 13, Tiger Eye P.I., led by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, emphasized that it has no interest in any financial gain from the outcome.
“Today, the trial judge granted Kennedy Agyapong’s motion for remittitur and reduced the initial award to $500. This means that, while the judge held that Kennedy Agyapong had defamed me, in his reasoning, the award against Kennedy Agyapong by the jury was excessive.”
“Many avenues of redemption accrue to me. But it is important to state, as I previously did, that this fight has not been about the money, but rather a fight for truth and justice,” parts of the release read.
According to Tiger Eye P.I., the verdict still affects the point that Kennedy Agyapong deliberately made defamation claims against them.
Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, is set to engage with Ghana’s youth on February 22, 2025.
The event, called Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurial Mindset Symposium, is aimed at educating young Ghanaians on available opportunities and how they can leverage them for personal and professional growth.
This will be Agyapong’s first public appearance since departing from Parliament and marks the beginning of a series of youth-focused events for the year.
The symposium will take place at Cheville Hotel in Sunyani Fiapre, where it is expected to attract a large crowd of young attendees from the region.
The event will feature a combination of motivational speeches and success stories from young individuals who have taken initiative to improve their lives, inspiring others to believe in their potential and work towards a brighter future.
The Assin Central Parliamentary seat in the Central Region, currently held by the free-spirited politician Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has been won by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NDC candidate, Megyimah Shaibu Nurein, polled 16,343 votes, representing 50.37% of the valid votes cast, while the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, Nti Godfred Amewu, secured 15,926 votes, representing 49.35%.
This marks the first time in 24 years that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won the Assin Central parliamentary seat.
The Electoral Commission is announcing results from constituencies following the counting and collation of votes at various polling and collation centers across the country.
This exercise, being held at the National Collation Centre in Accra, aims to promote transparency and fairness in the election process.
Both the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party have been holding separate press conferences, urging their supporters to remain calm and allow the Electoral Commission to carry out its work.
The NPP has called on its supporters to conduct themselves appropriately while monitoring the collation and announcement of results. Meanwhile, the NDC has instructed its supporters to remain vigilant and refrain from celebrating prematurely as they follow the process.
Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has expressed indifference towards which candidate or party wins the upcoming general elections in December.
He stressed that preserving national peace is more crucial than any particular candidate taking office, urging Ghanaians not to sacrifice the country’s stability.
Agyapong shared these remarks with the media on November 7, 2024, after the Speaker indefinitely suspended parliamentary activities.
“I personally don’t care who wins as long as we have a peaceful country where you can breathe,” he said.
Commenting on the standoff in Parliament over the majority seats, Kennedy Agyapong cautioned that the current situation could endanger the country’s democracy if left unresolved.
He expressed his distaste for any chaos that might incite violence and shared his disappointment over the ongoing clash between the NDC and NPP caucuses in Parliament.
“This is why I don’t preach for war. Otherwise, I would have encouraged what’s going on, but what will be the fate of the country?” he added.
A former flagbearer aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has cautioned the party against complacency as it heads into the 2024 general elections.
Reflecting on the campaign activities, Agyapong noted similarities to the 2008 elections, recalling how the NPP’s focus on large rallies and entertainment allowed the then-opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to gain an edge with their strategic, grassroots approach.
“Everything that we are doing here today, I’ve seen before. In 2008, while the NDC was conducting house-to-house campaigning, we were standing on platforms with musicians playing music and dancing, thinking we had already won. But we all saw what happened to us. So I am happy today, but I am not moved by what I am seeing until we have finished the election,” he stated.
Speaking in the Esikado-Ketan Constituency of the Western Region during a campaign tour with the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Agyapong urged the party to ensure its campaign strategy reaches every voter as they approach the December 7 elections.
The NPP’s 2024 campaign has featured popular artists like King Paluta, Eno Barony, Praye, and Wendy Shay, who have performed at rallies.
Alongside these events, Dr. Bawumia has emphasized direct engagement with voters, including a recent visit to his campaign call center, where he connected with Ghanaians on a personal level.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, who serves as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of theNew Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a stern warning to government appointees regarding their lack of engagement in the party’s campaign for the upcoming 2024 elections.
He emphasised that any appointee who fails to demonstrate their commitment to the party and the positions they hold will face consequences after the elections.
Wontumi pointed out that even candidates like Kennedy Agyapong, who are running against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, are actively campaigning on the ground.
He insisted that appointees must set aside any complacency and actively participate in efforts to secure the party’s continued governance.
“If you supported Dr. Bawumia during the primaries, you have not done anything. He wants to be president, and that is what you should support him to achieve. Kennedy Agyapong, who contested him, is campaigning and working to ensure that we win.
They have had to prove themselves that they are party members.
In 2016, we won the elections, so if you are an appointee and you don’t prove yourself, we will come after you. Prove yourself.
We don’t speak English, but if you campaign well, everyone will know. Bawumia doesn’t have to say he is campaigning; Samira Bawumia doesn’t have to say she is campaigning; everyone will know,” he said.
Member of Parliament forAssin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has delivered a sharp warning to the people of Kintampo North in the Bono East Region.
Agyapong stated that the residents would face serious consequences if they do not vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.
He criticised the region for what he described as a lack of appreciation, despite its significant number of high-ranking government officials, for supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in previous elections.
Agyapong further threatened that if the NPP does not secure victory in the region, he would block any upcoming infrastructure and sports projects.
“If you don’t vote [for NPP] and you insist that we should come and develop this area… I am the Chairman at Ghana Gas who can authorise its construction, but I will personally not do it.
Because you never vote for us. You will collect all there is in the world but won’t vote for us,” Kennedy Agyapong said angrily.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on the constituents of Kintampo North to reconsider their voting patterns.
He emphasised that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has consistently demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity and fairness, without discrimination.
Prempeh assured the voters that supportingDr. Bawumia would mean choosing a leader dedicated to advancing Ghana through transformative policies aimed at driving national development forward.
Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison, has disclosed that she faced repercussions for endorsing her fellow MP, Kennedy Agyapong, in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2023 presidential primaries.
Despite the penalties, Morrison expressed no regret for backing Agyapong. While she did not elaborate on the specific nature of her punishment, she emphasized that 80% of her challenges stemmed from her support for him.
She made these remarks while reflecting on her unsuccessful bid to retain the Agona West seat as the NPP’s candidate for the 2024 elections.
During an interview with Adom FM on September 11, 2024, Morrison shared, “After I returned from abroad, my people urged me to run as an independent candidate… I didn’t have Bawumia’s T-shirt because, as you know, I supported Kennedy Agyapong.”
“That is why people are coming against me, but I have not regretted it one bit. Throughout the campaign period, I knew Dr. Bawumia would win, and if he wins, I will support him as an NPP member.
“But others don’t understand it that way and question why I did that, so I have to be punished. But that is not my concern at all. I have told you I have no regret for doing that at all. My support for Kennedy orchestrated 80% of my punishment.”
Madam Cynthia Morrison has officially registered as an independent candidate to run in the upcoming parliamentary election.

Affluent socialite Ibrahim Dauda, also known as Ibrah One, has opened up about the real reason behind a public attack by the outspoken politician, Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
In an interview with Kofi TV, monitored by GhanaWeb, Ibrah One revealed that the root of the conflict was an unintentional interaction with Agyapong’s girlfriend, which sparked the lawmaker’s outburst.
Back in 2020, Agyapong launched a scathing verbal assault against Ibrah, accusing him of money laundering and evading taxes on his imported cars.
The MP even suggested that Ibrah would soon be apprehended by security forces.
In response, Ibrah took to social media to taunt Agyapong, stating that his home’s gates would remain open for two days, daring authorities to arrest him.
He went on to make bold threats, mentioning high-profile individuals in his post.
“Ken!!! My gate is going to remain open like this for 2 solid days. I did this just to show you how messy I am! On the 3rd day, people will start to die. even that your stupid short president will be part of the corpse! Even Bill Gate will look for me just to forgive him.”
Agyapong, known for his anti-corruption stance, claimed on his show “The Seat” on Net 2 TV that he was committed to exposing fraudulent individuals, regardless of their status.
He mentioned that several people had approached him, begging him not to reveal their involvement in illicit activities after he began speaking out about Ibrah.
However, Ibrah One explained in the recent interview that the real cause of Agyapong’s anger stemmed from a misunderstanding involving the MP’s girlfriend.
According to Ibrah, he unknowingly got involved with the woman, who only revealed her connection to Agyapong after spending time with him.
“Hmmm, it is a long story. I mistakenly touched his woman, that was all. I didn’t know she was his woman. The girl brought herself; I didn’t know. That was the reason why he was ranting. Kennedy will not rant unless you touch his woman. I won’t say his woman because he is not married to the person. I’ll say girlfriend.
“So I said fine; since I am a small boy, you are not going to see her. So all those days he was ranting, the girl was with me. But he can’t come out and say it was because of a girl. He tried to hide a lot of things, but it was because of a woman. Kennedy will never fight you if it’s not because of a woman.”
When Ibrah found out, he was offended by Agyapong’s dismissive remarks about him being a “small boy” and decided to keep the woman with him for a month, further aggravating the situation.
“Later, I found out she was his girlfriend, the girl told me. After she spent the first night with me, that’s when she let me know. I think Kennedy tried to call her, and she told me Kennedy was trying to call her. I asked her if she knows Kennedy; that’s when she told me everything—that Kennedy took care of her, got her where she stays, and even bought her a car,” Ibrah One said.
Despite the heated exchange, Ibrah One mentioned that the two have since reconciled. They even crossed paths at a hotel where Agyapong covered Ibrah’s meal, signaling that any animosity had subsided.
Ibrah concluded by stating that Agyapong likely realized the futility of trying to control a woman who was determined to act on her own terms.
“I have met him after the incident, I think, at Alisa Hotel. He even paid for my food. We are cool; I think he has now gotten it in his mind that women who have made their minds that they want to play games will always play their game.” Ibrah One added.
At a mini rally held at Effiakuma Police Park on Saturday, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a key figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, called on party members to set aside past grievances in preparation for the December 7 elections.
Agyapong stressed that forgiveness of past issues is crucial for achieving their goal of “breaking the 8.”
His comments came as the party anticipates its 2024 manifesto launch on Sunday.
“I understand the bitterness and frustration that many of you feel, but I can confidently say that I’m the most frustrated person among all. However, we’ve put our differences aside for the love of the party.
“So, I implore you to forgive your brothers and sisters, and let’s work together towards a victorious outcome in the upcoming elections.” Kennedy Agyapong appealed.
At the same event, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, attributed the country’s problems to the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh criticized the NDC, labeling them as a relic of the past and positioning the NPP as the party of the future. He highlighted the NPP’s role in rescuing Ghanaians from the issues left by the NDC.
“Don’t vote based on hardship alone. If the current challenges had occurred under NDC’s leadership, I assure you it would have been even more severe.
“During his presidency, without the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war, he threatened to withhold salaries from teachers and nurses. So, I ask, what would he do in today’s circumstances?”
At the same event, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, attributed the country’s problems to the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has confidently claimed that Ghana thrives more under NPP’s leadership compared to any other political party.
In a video shared on UTV’s X page, he urged Ghanaians to support the NPP to keep the party in power, highlighting the success of its flagship program, Free Senior High School.
Although he did not win the party’s flagbearer race, losing to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Agyapong emphasized that the future of many students is secure.
He pointed out that parents can attest to the relief that the Free SHS policy has provided since the NPP implemented it.
Young girls and boys today have the hope that because of Free SHS your future can be better than that of Kennedy Agyapong. So if you make the mistake of voting for any other party apart from the NPP, you will face the consequence. So I am pleading with the youth of this country to vote for Dr Bawumia. If for no other reason, then for the sake of stability,” Mr Agyapong said.
A former contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Kennedy Agyapong, has asked Ghanaians to pray for the NPP’s victory ahead of 2024 elections.
The Assin Central MP emphasized that maintaining the NPP in government is crucial for the nation’s stability.
Speaking at a campaign event for the NPP’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), in Konongo, Ashanti Region, Agyapong called on Ghanaians to support and pray for the party’s continued leadership.
“When you go on your knees, pray for these leaders and the NPP so that they would be in power for long for Ghana to have stability,” he said in Twi.
He has also urged the Asante Akyem Central Constituency to vote for their parliamentary candidate, Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, in the upcoming elections on December 7.
Addressing a rally of chiefs and residents in Konongo, Asante Region, he emphasized the importance of unity within the constituency.
“It is crucial that we come together as one. A united front will be our greatest strength in winning the election. Let us present a cohesive and strong effort. Only through unity can we secure victory in 2024” he said,” Kennedy Agyapng expressed.
Lawyers for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Board Chairman of Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGCL) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, have refuted his involvement in a US$900 million deal being discussed in the media.
They also denied allegations that he was set to gain US$50 million from the alleged deal, asserting that there was no US$900 million transaction pending before Ghana Gas, as reported in The Herald’s publication on July 5, 2024, and circulated across multiple online and social media platforms.
Interestingly, in a letter signed by Raphael Agyapong, Mr. Agyapong’s lawyers neither confirmed nor denied the alleged boardroom dispute between him and Ghana Gas CEO Dr. Ben Asante, during which he reportedly called the CEO “stupid.”
In a follow-up article last Friday, The Herald detailed recent events at GNGCL, highlighting serious accusations against Dr. Asante, who allegedly entered into multi-million-dollar agreements without the board’s authorization.
Reports indicated that some of these agreements were backdated to De0cember 2024, raising significant concerns among board members, particularly Chairman Mr. Agyapong.
When these agreements were presented for board approval, Mr. Agyapong rejected them, citing possible criminal implications.
Despite this, employees at Ghana Gas Company have backed Dr. Asante, opposing Mr. Agyapong.
Interestingly, following the reports published by The Herald, Dr. Asante reportedly visited Mr. Agyapong’s residence to seek forgiveness in the presence of some of the board chairman’s relatives. Mr. Agyapong is believed to be seeking a meeting with President Nana Akufo-Addo to discuss the CEO’s behavior.
Dr. Asante is accused of allegedly trying to conceal his actions by spreading rumors and manipulating the media.
Earlier reports suggested that Mr. Agyapong faced resistance while pushing a multimillion-dollar deal at the last board meeting, raising concerns among employees and some board members about potential future criminal implications.
The situation escalated into a significant boardroom conflict over a contract worth nearly $900 million. Reports indicate a near physical altercation between Dr. Asante and Mr. Agyapong during a board meeting last Wednesday.
The Assin Central MP allegedly became enraged, slammed his hands on the board table, and used offensive language to insult the CEO.
Dr. Asante insisted on following strict procurement protocols, while Mr. Agyapong sought to bypass certain procedures.
The MP wanted to push the deal through with the CEO’s signature and address other issues later, which Dr. Asante rejected, further angering the board chairman.
Most board members sided with the CEO, much to Mr. Agyapong’s frustration, who reportedly stood to gain $50 million if the deal was approved. The workers’ union has also shown support for Dr. Asante in this matter.
The situation at GNGCL remains tense as the board deals with these allegations and the implications of the unauthorized agreements.
But in a rejoinder sent to The Herald late Friday evening, Mr Agyapong’s lawyer stated, “Our Client says that the said story also elaborates further to suggest that he has been at the centre of insisting on pushing the said illegal US$900 million deal in return for a US$50 million benefit in his favour as the Board Chairman of Ghana Gas Company.
“Firstly, our Client instructs us to inform the general public that the said story by The Herald newspaper is not only false but a calculated act to impugn his hard-earned incorruptible reputation, character and integrity. It is our Client’s case that there is no US$900 million contract which is subject matter before Ghana Gas Company board for discussion; let alone a benefit of US$50 million, as part of such a non-existent contract in his favour.
“Secondly, our Client says that the story by The Herald newspaper and also carried out by various online and social media platforms, can only be meant to demean his hard-earned reputation, create public dislike and disaffection against our Client in light of such difficult economic times in the country.
“It is our Client’s case that he is a known anti-corruption crusader and has, through his revelation of corruption cases involving both public and private individuals as well as institutions, saved the Republic a big deal of money thus our Client at no time will engage in any act of bribery or corruption against the interest of any individual let alone the Republic through Ghana Gas Company.
“We have our Client’s firm instructions to serve you notice, and notice is hereby served for you and your newspaper to retract and apologise for the said publication within fourteen (14) days upon service of this letter, failing which our Client shall be advised accordingly.
Entrepreneur and son of Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong, Kennedy Agyapong Jr. aims to exceed his father’s wealth.
Speaking on Asaase Radio, he credited his parents for laying a strong financial foundation.
Kennedy Jr. is focused on expanding his legacy, stating, “I’m confident I can achieve this goal. I’ve been fortunate not to start from scratch.”
He plans to support his siblings financially if needed, emphasizing his involvement in businesses such as shea butter sales and fashion design.
Kennedy Jr. emphasized the importance of personal effort, saying, “I can’t rely solely on my father’s name. It’s time to push forward.”
“I think I can do it; you have to set a goal because I have the opportunity to not start from zero. I always tell my dad, God forbid, if he dies, he doesn’t have to leave me with anything. He should give everything to the rest of my siblings because I am the second oldest.
“And I have been working with him for a long time so I should be the one to take care of my siblings if he’s not there. He started from zero; now he’s at one, I should be at two, then my other siblings and children should add on to it,” Kennedy Agyapong Jr. said in a report on asaaseradio.com.
Kennedy Agyapong Jr., who is also a co-founder of the Afrofuture Festival, revealed that he has started a chain of businesses.
“I do a lot of things, like selling shea butter and making clothes as well. I can’t just rely on the fact that my father is Kennedy Agyapong, so this is not the time to relax.”
Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, during a recent visit to the Ashanti Region to help in Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, had a confrontation with New Patriotic Party (NPP) members.
In a widely circulated video on social media, Agyapong can be seen seated in the front of his car in the Kwabre East constituency, while individuals believed to be his backers expressed discontent over the region’s developmental shortcomings.
“Since 1992, we have voted for the NPP but haven’t benefited in any meaningful way,” one said before another joined: “You are the very one that we want.
We will die of hunger if you leave us behind; we will suffer.”

“If we vote NDC and they don’t develop this area, it is no news; but to vote NPP and suffer such neglect is unfair for an area said to be a municipality; what is the evidence?” another asked.
The NPP considers the Ashanti Region a stronghold crucial for securing sufficient votes to surpass the 8.
Vice President Bawumia, the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, concluded a successful three-day campaign tour of the region.
Bawumia emerged victorious in theNPP flagbearership contest late last year, prevailing over Agyapong and other contenders.
Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has commented on the potential impact of Kennedy Agyapong‘s involvement in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign for the NPP flagbearer position, as well as the broader implications for the party in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Vim Lady observed that the NPP’s pre-election campaign has lost momentum since Dr. Bawumia’s nomination in the NPP Primaries, especially when compared to the vigorous campaign led by John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She noted that Dr. Bawumia is currently facing challenges due to his past economic statements, and suggested that Kennedy Agyapong’s support could be instrumental.
During her interview on Okay FM, she mentioned that Kennedy Agyapong’s involvement might invigorate the vice president’s campaign, which has been struggling.
She remarked, “The NPP’s campaign has been uncertain, but Kennedy Agyapong’s entry could change that. Mahama is leading in campaign efforts right now. If the NPP campaign were strong, Agyapong’s participation wouldn’t be necessary.”
Vim Lady emphasized Agyapong’s significant influence and pointed out that some actions by President Akufo-Addo have placed the party in a challenging position, exacerbating Bawumia’s difficulties.
With the economy facing issues like high inflation and unemployment, Bawumia seems to view Agyapong as a crucial ally and problem-solver.
These comments came after Kennedy Agyapong was seen campaigning for Dr. Bawumia during the NPP Ashanti Regional campaign tour, which surprised many given their previous disagreements.
Founder of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha has expressed his astonishment at seeing Kennedy Agyapong campaigning for NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Kumchacha was convinced that Agyapong would avoid supporting Bawumia due to their well-known political rivalry.
In a viral video shared by blogger Thosecalledcelebs, Kumchacha remarked that Agyapong’s past criticisms of Bawumia could be exploited by opposition parties as the general elections draw near. Despite Agyapong’s backing of Bawumia, Kumchacha remains skeptical about the NPP’s chances in the 2024 elections, citing their governance performance.
“I’ve seen Ken Agyapong trending on social media after he was spotted campaigning for Bawumia in Kumasi. Despite this, I believe the NPP is heading for opposition. The statements Agyapong made about Bawumia will likely be used against them by the public,” he noted.
Kumchacha highlighted that Agyapong had previously claimed he was offered an $800 million bribe to withdraw from the presidential primaries and had criticized Bawumia’s economic capabilities. Witnessing Agyapong endorse Bawumia at a campaign event left him profoundly shocked and served as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of trusting individuals.
These comments followed Agyapong’s appearance at the NPP Ashanti Regional campaign tour, where his support for Bawumia surprised many, given their past differences.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has suggested that despite Ghana’s current economic volatility, voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December polls will exacerbate the challenges.
Speaking to supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Suame Magazine, he emphasized that while he is fully informed about the country’s affairs, he believes that granting the NPP another opportunity will foster a conducive environment for all.
Mr Agyapong highlighted the NPP’s Free Senior High School (SHS) program, acknowledging its controversial inception but asserting that it has provided opportunities for disadvantaged students to pursue their education.
He urged voters to consider the benefits of the free SHS policy for their children and future generations.
“As a result of NPP’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, needy Ghanaian students have been to enroll is high schools. Of course the economy is suffering, I can attest to that. However, when you are going to vote come December 7, think about the benefits your children will derive from the Free SHS programme”.
In conclusion, he asserted that the NDC cannot offer a promising future for Ghanaian children.”
Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has restated his dedication to motivating future generations in Ghana, notwithstanding his unsuccessful attempt to secure the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) nomination as a presidential candidate in the 2024 elections.
Agyapong utilized the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to articulate his aspirations and fervor for the country.
“My vision and passion will continue to inspire the next generation of this great nation, Ghana,” he tweeted on May 16, 2024.

Kwesi Alhaji, purportedly holding the title of Mankrodo in Gomoa, Central Region, vehemently denies allegations of torturing and murdering people over land disputes.
Accused of orchestrating terror and violence, Kwesi Alhaji faces allegations from various quarters, including Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
During an interview on Adom FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Kennedy Agyapong accused Kwesi Alhaji of terrorizing the people of Gomoa, alleging murders over land disputes and claiming to possess evidence to support his claims.
In response to the accusations, Kwesi Alhaji, in an exclusive interview with Nana Yaa Brefo, refuted the claims, asserting he has never killed anyone nor contracted anyone to commit murder on his behalf.
He recounted rushing to Adom FM’s premises upon learning of Kennedy Agyapong’s accusations during a live broadcast, challenging the legislator to produce evidence.
However, according to Kwesi Alhaji, Kennedy Agyapong failed to provide any evidence despite the opportunity.
“They say I murder and keep the corpses of my victims in the fridge. I am aware Kennedy Agyapong said that. At the time he made those accusations against me, he was with Allotey Jacobs and I had gone to buy an air conditioner at Circle, so immediately I heard that, I rushed to the premises of the station to challenge Kennedy Agyapong to show us where I store the bodies of those he alleges I have killed. But he couldn’t even come down to face me,” Kwesi Alhaji explained.
President of Bawumia Must Win (BMW), apro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group,David Gyasi Boako, has refuted the authenticity of a letter circulating on social media.
The purported letter, allegedly from BMW, purportedly criticises Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, for his apparent backing of Alan Kyerematen, an independent presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections.
“I have seen the statement, and I was shocked about the contents, so I called my secretary, Sir Obama, to confirm if he had written anything of that nature.
When I called him, he was surprised and asked for those behind such false information because this is the sixth time something of this nature has happened,” he said in an interview on Oman FM on April 19, 2024.

The now-discredited statement accused Kennedy Agyapong of undermining the NPP by supporting the activities of Alan Kyerematen, who had resigned from the party to contest as an independent candidate.
It criticised Agyapong’s media outlets for broadcasting an event where Kyerematen and other political groups gathered to form an alliance, labelling it a betrayal to the NPP and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The statement called on the NPP National Executives to ensure that party resources were not used to promote Kyerematen’s activities and urged them to call Agyapong and others aligned with the Movement for Change to order.
However, Gyasi Boako denied the authenticity of the letter, stating, “We want to plead with the public that we have no idea about the said letter, and we haven’t written any letter. We are aware that Dr. Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong are living peacefully.”
A recently surfaced video on social media captures a warm and friendly conversation between Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Agyapong.

While the content of their conversation remains undisclosed, the amicable interaction has ignited conversations and speculation on social media.
This reunion follows past tensions, including allegations of vote-buying, which were resolved when Agyapong conceded defeat after Bawumia was declared the NPP’s flagbearer.

Kennedy Agyapong, also a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in an interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa on the KSM show, discussed his passionate involvement in elections, while addressing his loss to Bawumia in the Party’s flagbearer race on November 4th 2023.
Expressing discontent towards certain MPs who had in the past, received his support but opposed him publicly with insults towards Nov 4th, Agyapong vowed to make his displeasure known when dealing with such individuals in the future.
Clarifying that his straightforwardness shouldn’t be mistaken for bitterness, Agyapong stated, “I’m not bitter. It’s not every MP who didn’t vote for me that I’m angry at. No, everybody has a choice. But the very people who were my friends that I have helped to bring them to Parliament, it’s not a betrayal, but the things, the bad things they said about me, that is where I have a problem.”
Reflecting on past defeats, he recounted the 2008 elections when he ardently supported Akufo-Addo, leading to his own health issues. Agyapong admitted learning a lesson from that experience, emphasizing that he would campaign and contribute but not let electoral outcomes affect him to the extent of jeopardizing his health.
“I’m not peeved because I learned my lesson from 2008 when I put my resources, my soul and will, money, everything to support President Akufo-Addo”
“When he lost, I got a heart problem. So my doctors, they counseled me. They didn’t know I was a politician until they saw my heartbeat and all those things. So I learned my lesson from that time that I will campaign. I’ll do everything, but I’ll not religiously get involved and say that it’s do or die and therefore, if I don’t win or Mr. B doesn’t win, I should get heart problems. That has cushioned me,” he shared.
According to the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Akufo-Addo won the first round of voting with more than 49 percent of the vote, but he did not secure the required 50 percent plus one to avoid a run-off. He and his closest challenger, John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), advanced to a second round, held on December 28, 2008.
Mills was certified as the victor by a margin of less than one percent, winning the presidency on his third attempt. It is to date the closest election in Ghanaian history.
Akufo-Addo also lost the 2012 election to John Mahama of the NDC, amid controversy and a Supreme Court challenge. He finally won the presidency in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020.

“This year I will be 64 years, so I will not allow anybody to treat me like I am trash; for that, I am sorry. Let them do their own thing, and we stay back,” he stated in an interview on the KSM Show on February 23, 2024.
Agyapong clarified that he is not angry at every MP who did not vote for him, acknowledging that everyone has a choice. However, his frustration stems from those he had personally assisted in reaching parliament, especially due to the negative things they said about him.
“The very people who were my friends that I have helped to bring them to parliament, it is not about the betrayal but the bad things that they said about me. That is where I have a problem, so, who says I am not bitter, I’m bitter. I am bitter not because the vice president won, I’m bitter because the people that I have helped… if you are not going to vote for me, no problem, but the insults, I can’t forgive them,” he added.

Leader and founder of International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has vehemently refuted claims suggesting that he once admitted to performing fake miracles to gain public attention. Addressing congregants during a sermon shared by OB TV, Bishop Obinim expressed bewilderment at the circulation of such false assertions in the media.
Contrary to the reports, Bishop Obinim clarified that he has never made any statements suggesting that the miracles performed in his church are anything less than genuine. He emphasized that his words had been twisted and misunderstood by certain individuals, leading to the dissemination of inaccurate information.
“I have never said anywhere that I am a quack pastor or perform fake miracles, never. Yet people are putting words in my mouth and saying all kinds of things,” he stated.
Additionally, Bishop Obinim urged the public to disregard rumors about the collapse of his church, asserting that such claims are attempts by certain individuals to tarnish his reputation.
“I talked about some claims people are making about me saying ‘I am a fake pastor, my miracles were not genuine, my church has collapsed’ and a whole lot of things. I don’t want to talk about it but I know it’s my enemies who are twisting my words to bring me down and denigrate my image,” he emphasized.

“The facts are that the current developments taking place at the official residence of the late Justice Marful-Sau form part of the Government Redevelopment Programme (GRP),” the statement emphasised.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Works and Housing denied the allegations in a press release, stating that no such sale had occurred and clarifying the ongoing Government Redevelopment Programme (GRP).

The Ministry has emphatically declared that Justice Marful-Sau’s house has not been sold and continues to be the property of the State.
Addressing concerns which first emerged from the camp of the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, the Ministry dispelled the claims and provided clarity on the status of the esteemed justice’s residence.
The assertion comes amid recent claims made by Kennedy Agyapong, which suggested that the former Chief Justice and the sector Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye, have colluded to sell the property.
n a statement issued on Sunday, January 14, the Ministry said it “strongly refutes the allegation and states that there has been no such sale of the property.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, the said land has not been sold as it is mischievously being alleged and remains the property of the State. “The GRP, which dates as far back as 1992, has since its inception, been widely implemented by successive Governments within the Greater Accra Region, specifically in Kanda. Cantonments, West Ridge and Roman Ridge. On 14th May 2018, Cabinet approved a revised scheme regarding the GRP to include other neighbourhoods such as Osu Ringway, Airport Residential Area and Labone,” it added.

Yes, I am telling you; it’s a condition. If you don’t want me to talk, vote against him. If you want me to talk, vote for him, and I challenge you because we won’t allow you to destroy Ghana. We have no other place to go.”
He went on to caution against supporting what he deemed a corrupt politician, emphasizing that Asenso-Boakye does not deserve to hold his current position. Agyapong linked his earlier cautionary statements about members disgracing President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House to Asenso-Boakye, stating, “If you remember, I cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) people that were disgracing Akufo-Addo, those at the Jubilee House taking money before allowing people to see the President. I was referring to Asenso. Today I was referring to Asenso.”
Asenso-Boakye, who is facing off against Ralph Agyapong in the upcoming primary on January 27, 2023, is yet to respond to these allegations. The primary is expected to be closely contested, with the winner becoming the NPP’s candidate for the Bantama Constituency in the 2024 general elections.

Founder and leader of theInternational God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has revealed that his ongoing conflict with Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has resulted in the decline of his church.
Bishop Obinim disclosed the intricacies of his church’s decline during a TikTok live session, underscoring the repercussions of getting involved in a verbal dispute with the outspoken politician.
“My brother Kennedy Agyapong orchestrated a fight with me, and that was how the story started. When I assessed my strength, I could have beaten Kennedy Agyapong and still have more energy in me, but not knowing my strength had to do with spiritual strength, he was fighting me in the physical realm where he was more fit than me,” Bishop Obinim said.
The religious leader stated that he dismissed divine warnings against the confrontation, perceiving it only as a spiritual battle.
Nevertheless, he later realised that the conflict extended beyond the spiritual realm and had adverse effects on his physical and legal standing.
“I was challenging him, even though God was speaking to me to stop what I was doing. I thought I could have won, so I persisted in fighting him.
“While I focused on the spiritual, he focused on the physical. It was only later that I realised I was in the hands of National Security, EOCO, BNI, Police CID, and SIU.
“I had been invited and accused of money laundering and taking someone’s gold, which I had no idea about. By the time I realised it, it was already too late,” he added.
He continued: “I used to have more than 1000 congregants, but when I met in church, I didn’t even get 200 members. I wondered why I fought with him at all. That’s why I am advising you all: if someone wants to fight you, assess your strength and that of the person and never try to fight.
“I am not even done with the story of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and my fight with him. The day I was taken to court, I took seven lawyers, and they told me to bring 2 billion old cedis before they went to face Kennedy Agyapong because he had money. The kind of things I went through, I realised I was down.”
He verbally sparred with several of them, including Bishop Obinim, making various accusations against the religious leader.

“Today because of president Akufo-Addo, Asenso sits on radio and talks big that if Ken will win (flagbearership), NPP is better off in opposition, is that what power is about? How much money have you stolen from Housing (ministry)?” he asked while addressing NPP delegates in Bantama.
“Even as Deputy Chief of Staff, you were taking bribes of US$20,000, you think the man was not truthful? Ask Kwabena Asante of Adom FM about the Chinese people, a deal I eventually blocked.
“If you recall, I warned the NPP that they were disgracing Nana Akufo-Addo, those at Jubilee House that were taking money to grant access to the president, I was referring to Asenso, today I am telling you,” Agyapong stressed.

In a recent interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, self-proclaimed prophet Eric Boahen Uche confidently asserted that the politician and businessman, Kennedy Agyapong, is destined to become the President of Ghana.
Prophet Uche, known for his bold and accurate political predictions, emphasizes the unwavering nature of this prophecy, stating, “Kennedy Agyapong would definitely become president of Ghana; there is no two ways about it. He’s destined to become president”.
“If you go back to check my background, I was the only prophet to predict that the 2020 elections would go to court. I clearly said that the NDC would take the NPP to court, and it all happened”.
Highlighting his past accuracy, Prophet Uche references his unique prediction about the 2020 elections going to court, where he foresaw the National Democratic Congress (NDC) taking the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to court.
Expressing confidence in Agyapong’s potential, he describes the Assin North MP as respectful and foresees him as a fantastic president.

Agyapong stressed that success in the future is not solely guaranteed by academic degrees, urging the graduates to acknowledge that their certificates would hold value only when coupled with a dedication to hard work and honesty.
“I have gone through the mix, I have seen some students making it with third class. I want to assure you that whether you are third class, second class upper or even lower, in the school of life, your first class is just two letters which I call H and H; that is honesty and hard work.
“These two will determine your success in the future. It is not the degree you acquire today that will work towards the future. If you don’t work towards the future, your certificate will be in your room forever,” he stated.
He continued: “Today, we are all happy for you as parents, teachers and all. Your parents are happy because you are no longer going to be their burden. The moment you go home and remove the gown, they will say to you, the world is waiting for you. They are not happy because you’ve gone through four years of first degree and another two years of masters and that is the end of life. The real part of life lies ahead of you.”
Agyapong continued by stating that discipline, honesty, and patriotism are the three most important traits for survival, particularly in the local environment.
He urged the graduates to change their perspectives on life, attitudes, and ways of thinking in order to become change agents.
“Three things we need to survive, especially in this part of the world, is to be patriotic. We need to be honest and we need to be disciplined. I know you all are calling for change but the change is you. You need to change first, not only do politicians have to change.
“You need to change your mindset, attitude and the way you perceive life. When you take this advice, you will be a different human being. When they mentioned my name, you all applauded now, I entreat you all to take your destiny into your own hand. Don’t let the gown be the end of your life and think you have achieved everything,” he stated.

He said that foreign businesses were thriving in Ghana because the managers were not Ghanaians, while Ghanaian-owned businesses continued to suffer due to poor management.
“I’m sorry, but I will tell you the truth. They will just steal your money, that is why they didn’t vote for me because they knew I was going to crack the whip. We will not allow people to embezzle the state funds at the expense of the poor country.
“Unfortunately for them, they embezzle the funds and the only thing they know how to do is build a house. We have a huge chunk of the country is unemployed. I’m told several youths leave Ghana with the aim of getting Nursing jobs, but after paying the charges they can’t even get jobs. God has endowed our country and what we need is leaders who act and not leaders who speak just English and cannot put food on your table. I’m not giving up on my vision and all I’m telling you is to pray for me for long life,” he is quoted to have said.
Agyapong also said that he was not giving up on his ambition to help the youth with jobs and vowed to work on the mistakes he made during his campaign. He said that he would have retired completely, but he could not ignore the plight of the young men and women without jobs in the country.
“All I said and the mistakes I pointed out, I will work on them. I would have retired completely, but when I look at the young men and women without jobs in the country, I cannot give up. We will continue to fight. I’m not giving up,” he said.
