    A recently resurfaced video features Ken Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, making predictions about the Office of the Special Prosecutor. This follows the recent public expression of frustration by the incumbent Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

    In the video, which captures Agyapong’s appearance on Net 2 TV, the outspoken politician foretells Agyebeng’s failure to fulfil his mandate.

    Agyapong attributes this predicted failure to the pervasive corruption within the ruling party, specifically highlighting issues related to illegal small-scale mining, commonly known as “galamsey.” According to Agyapong, these corruption challenges will likely impede the effectiveness of the Special Prosecutor’s efforts.

    “You are going to appoint a Special Prosecutor; you see, when I point out a finger, the remaining four point back at you, NPP. You will not be able to prosecute anyone. I am speaking in parables to you,” he stated.

    “There are greedy bastards in galamsey. NPP people are greedy bastards when it comes to galamsey,” he added.

    Upon assuming office in 2017, the current government of the New Patriotic Party, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, placed a significant emphasis on combating corruption.

    A key component of their anti-corruption agenda during the campaign in opposition was the establishment of a Special Prosecutor’s Office dedicated to investigating and prosecuting individuals for corruption and related offenses.

    However, the initial appointee to lead this office, Martin Amidu, a former Attorney-General, resigned in November 2020, citing alleged interference in his work by President Akufo-Addo. Despite the president’s denial of Amidu’s claims, Kissi Agyebeng, a private legal practitioner, was subsequently appointed to head the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

    In a press conference held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, Mr. Agyebeng expressed concerns about a concerning pattern of dismissive rulings in the corruption cases he was actively pursuing.

    He went on to caution that such a trend could have severe consequences for Ghana’s ongoing anti-corruption efforts. This situation raises questions about the effectiveness and independence of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in the fight against corruption.

    “Indeed I have had several calls from well-meaning lawyers admonishing me that they have heard talk that our friends who have been elevated to the bench and presiding over cases in court do not take very kindly to criticism, especially of the public calling out variety as we do.

    “And that if the office persists in the media releases, the judges will gang up against the office and throw out all our cases. Mind you, members of the press, collective admonishing is from very senior and experienced lawyers who are members of the law.

    “Members of the press, my learning of the law for the past 25 years in three different jurisdictions, my teaching and training of lawyers and law students for the past 17 years, my 20-year record at the bar all bear testimony that I will be the last person to lead an institution to attack the judiciary.

    “It will be absolutely of no good should it be the case that the OSP is set against the judiciary or that the judiciary is against the OSP. That will surely spell disastrous consequences for this republic, especially in the fight against corruption to the glee of corrupt persons.”

    Mr Agyebeng added, “I do not intend to sound as though I’m predicting doom but we are facing doom. With this development, it will not be long, before a suspected murderer or armed robber will boldly walk to court with the unthinkable prayer that the court should injunct law enforcement agencies from investigating him.”

    Adakabri Frimpong Manso, a presenter with Despite Media, reportedly disclosed on Neat FM last week that the encounter was not as initially portrayed. According to Manso, Ken Agyapong was ambushed at home after evading numerous invitations from the Bawumia camp.

    “They did all they could to get him but he was also evading them, so they surveilled him till they realized he was at home and then they ambushed him,” Manso stated, questioning the necessity of informing someone about a visit.

    He further elaborated, “This was a case where he was not aware. They tried all they could through the handlers, so when they checked and got information that he was at home, they made their move. They kept very long at the residence and had extensive conversations.”

    Manso indicated that a central theme of the discussions revolved around individuals who allegedly abused Agyapong during the flagbearer campaign.

    Lawyer Ralph Agyapong hinted that Kennedy Agyapong might be contemplating beyond the 2024 presidential campaign and could refrain from engaging in the Bawumia presidential campaign.

    Ralph emphasized concerns about certain individuals within Bawumia’s team, stating, “Then you finish and you want to put the likes of Miracles Aboagye and Adomako Baafi on a platform with Ken to campaign? You are the same people who claimed he destroys campaigns.”

    He vowed his allegiance to the flagbearer-elect to aid in defeating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and to secure a victory beyond the current eight-year tenure.

    Dr. Bawumia secured his victory with 61.43% of the total votes, while his closest rival, Kennedy Agyapong, received 37.41% of the vote share. The other two contestants, Dr. Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimo, received 0.75% and 0.41% of the vote, respectively.

    Addressing NPP faithfuls at the official declaration of the results in Accra, the MP admitted that the elections were fair and transparent, adding that he will join forces with the flagbearer elect to secure a third term at 2024.

    Ken also expressed gratitude to the delegates who voted for him, urging them to support Dr. Bawumia

    Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential election to represent the ruling party in the 2024 general elections.

    A total of 203,439 delegates participated in the election conducted today, November 4, in the various constituencies across all 16 regions of Ghana.

    Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polled 118,210 votes, representing 61.43 percent, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong garnered 71,991 votes (37.41 percent), former Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto got 1,459 votes (0.76 percent) and former Mampong MP, Frimpong Addai-Nimoh secured 781 votes, representing (0.41 percent).

    He will subsequently compete against the candidate from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 2024 general election.

    Bawumia’s triumph is viewed as a significant advancement in his pursuit of the presidency.

    Dr Bawumia has already assured the party’s delegates that he will secure victory over Mahama in the upcoming general elections.

    He contends that he is the sole contender capable of handing John Mahama a third consecutive electoral loss.

    “They know we will break the 8, and they know that John Mahama cannot take me on in the North, and they know that I will beat him in the North and this is why they don’t want me to be the flagbearer,” Dr Bawumia said on his campaign trail in the Tema West constituency of the Greater Accra Region,” he added.

    Meanwhile, Dr Afriyie Akoto has congratulated Dr Bawumia for his victory today.

    The results from all 16 regions for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries have been released.

    Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential election to represent the ruling party in the 2024 general elections.

    A total of 203,439 delegates participated in the election conducted today, November 4, in the various constituencies across all 16 regions of Ghana.

    Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polled 118,210 votes, representing 61.43 percent, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong garnered 71,991 votes (37.41 percent), former Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto got 1,459 votes (0.76 percent) and former Mampong MP, Frimpong Addai-Nimoh secured 781 votes, representing (0.41 percent).

    He will subsequently compete against the candidate from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 2024 general election.

    Bawumia’s triumph is viewed as a significant advancement in his pursuit of the presidency.

    Dr Bawumia has already assured the party’s delegates that he will secure victory over Mahama in the upcoming general elections.

    He contends that he is the sole contender capable of handing John Mahama a third consecutive electoral loss.

    “They know we will break the 8, and they know that John Mahama cannot take me on in the North, and they know that I will beat him in the North and this is why they don’t want me to be the flagbearer,” Dr Bawumia said on his campaign trail in the Tema West constituency of the Greater Accra Region,” he added.

    Meanwhile, Dr Afriyie Akoto has congratulated Dr Bawumia for his victory today.

    The results from all 16 regions for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries have been released.

    In contrast, former Agriculture Ministers Dr. Afriyie Akoto and Francis-Addai Nimoh received a combined total of 167 votes, constituting 0.5%, and 74 votes, making up 0.2%, respectively.

    The Bono East region has provided Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with a massive win in the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential election.

    Dr Bawumia garnered a total of 5,434 votes, whereas his closest contender, Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agaypong polled 1,548 votes.

    Dr Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh got 92 votes and 45 votes, respectively, out of the 7,158 votes cast. However, 39 votes were rejected.

    Meanwhile, the Central Region paints a contrasting picture, as Mr Kennedy Agyapong won massively with 10,828 votes.

    Bawumia came in second with 6,159 votes. Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh garnered 47 votes and 38 votes, respectively.

    More than 200 delegates from the Suame Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are reportedly considering boycotting the presidential primaries if they do not receive financial support from Kennedy Agyapong’s camp.

    While over 800 delegates have already cast their votes, around 200 have expressed their intention to abstain from the event due to what they refer to as a lack of “transport money.”

    In an interview with TV3, two of the delegates urged Kennedy Agyapong to show his support in the constituency, or they would withhold their votes.

    They mentioned that they have already received financial support from the camp of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia but have yet to receive any assistance from Kennedy Agyapong.

    One of the delegates suggested that Kennedy Agyapong might have allocated funds for their “transport,” but they have not yet received them. Consequently, they called on Kennedy Agyapong’s representatives to release the funds, or they would refrain from voting.

    “We’ve come from far so we need help. We don’t have a problem with Bawumia but where is Ken? We are waiting for Ken; otherwise, we will not vote”, he said.

    The issue of vote-buying has become prevalent during the ongoing NPP presidential primaries on November 4, 2023.

    In the La Dade Kotokopon constituency, TV3 reports that some delegates allege they have received GHC450 from the camp of the vice president.

    A viral video on social media features a candidate named Sir Collins, who explained that he chose to vote for Kennedy Agyapong because he found the money offered by Agyapong’s camp more appealing than that of the vice president.

    During an interview with GHOne TV, Collins expressed his profound dissatisfaction, characterizing Dr. Bawumia’s offer of a mere GH¢400 per delegate as an insult.

    Collins emphasized the disparities in resources and support, questioning why another contender, Kennedy Agyapong, who reportedly has less support from government appointees and the party’s rank and file, offered GH¢300.

    “I voted for Ken,” he said in the Twi language as he proceeded to give his reason.

    “Bawumia has the support of ministers, MCEs and government officials yet they gave us GH¢400 while Ken gave us GH¢300. That’s an insult. How can you have the support of everyone and give us GH¢400 when an individual Ken is giving us GH¢300?”

    On GTV, another delegate, Samed Nuhu, who serves as a polling station executive, emphasized that delegates in the Krowor constituency should not let the money they’ve received from the candidates sway their decisions.

    He confirmed receiving money from both the Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong camps but pledged to vote for the person he believes will keep the party in power.

    He admitted to voting for Bawumia and revealed that he received an envelope containing money, although he expressed disappointment that the amount wasn’t substantial.

    “I have finished voting and gone for my envelope but the money isn’t much. The process has been cool and without hitches. The people are also conducting themselves well so its going on smoothly. I also took an envelope from Ken. I didn’t fight for it but they give it to me. I have not opened the envelopes yet”, he said.

    In the Ellembelle constituency, some delegates are cling that the monies offered them are beyond expectations.

    Some angry polling station executives in the Ellembelle constituency of the Western region have accused the election committee of cheating.

    “We were told that they would give us GHC100 each to take cars to Nkroful here to vote, but they have given us just GHC50”, they said.

    “They have cheated us because these monies are from the national headquarters, and it is not fair at all. We are telling the national executives that they should call our constituency executives to order and add the GHC50 before we leave here”, they added.

    After casting his vote, Kennedy Agyapong spoke to the media and outlined his team’s plans for vote counting. He mentioned that they have established a collation center where they will tally their votes to ensure transparency.

    Kennedy Agyapong also emphasized that if the process proceeds without any issues and there is no evidence of bias, he will graciously accept the results and offer his support to the winner.     Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has asserted that her constituency will deliver a clear message to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong about his standing within the constituency following the conclusion of the party’s presidential election.

    Ursula has stated that the key influencers in the constituency have pledged their support to flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and are fully committed to the “DMB project.”

    She further expressed confidence that Bawumia will secure an overwhelming victory in the constituency, earning nothing less than 80% of the total votes.

    “I know what the kingmakers in this constituency have told me. We have had an extensive conversation with them and they’ve told us that they are fully aligned and behind the DMB project. So we are just waiting to see by what margin he wins in this constituency,” she told Joy News.

    The Minister of Communications and Digitalization also noted that Kenedy Agyapong is aware that outwitting Bawumia looks impossible.

    “We’ve been working here for a long time. We’ve lived with our constituents for a long time. We’ve engaged with them; we’ve spoken to them and they’ve told us what their concerns are and what their expectations are.”

    The NPP is on the verge of selecting a new flagbearer to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party’s leader for the 2024 general election.

    “Ken Agyepong has run a very effective campaign. For that, he deserves kudos. Whether he proved that he was the better choice is where he fell short in my view,” Bentil asserted.

    The two politicians had their last encounter at the NPP headquarters in Accra on November 2. Along with two other contenders, they signed an agreement of comradeship to maintain decorum during and after the party’s primary elections.

    He alleged that Mahama paid purchased a mansion worth $450,000 for Tracey Boakye.

    “Tracey Boakye’s residences in Kumasi, East Legon (the one she just bought), Lakeside and her restaurant (ShortCode) are all from John Mahama’s pocket,”Kennedy Agyapong claimed.

    Responding to the allegations by Ken Agyapong, John Mahama said he does not have time to battle Ken Agyapong because he does not wrestle with pigs.

He should ask Mr. Oppong Bio if that is what they are saying but I said no, I will not step down, Ghana first. In 2016, you people were not able to buy pickups. How come today you are able to offer me $800 million? So I said I won’t step down…” he stated.

    He made the claim after Frederick Opare-Ansah alleged that Mr Kennedy Agyapong demanded the supply of contracts to the tune of $500 million annually to withdraw from the New Pariotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race.

    “We had a discussion and I told him we should have a conversation on radio so I disclose the Ghanaian people why he is contesting this very election. He went to Dr (Bawumia) to give him about $500m worth of contracts if he becomes president annually. And doc refused and said he will contest him. It happened. Oppong Bio informed me. I would have also said these comments but I won’t say that,” he said.

    Currently, the Bawumia camp has refuted the claims that the Vice President has made any offer to the Assin Central MP.

    In an interview on Citi TV’s Face to Face show, Frederick Opare-Ansah challenged Mr Agyapong to come forward with the identity of the individual behind the offer.

    He also provided more details to buttress his $500 million worth of contract claims against Mr Agyapong.

    He noted that his source of information, Oppong Bio, a member of Ken Agyapong’s campaign who made known to him the proposal made by his candidate, engaged him in September 2022 at his residence on the Agbogba road.

    “It was in September 2022, in his house on the Agbobga road. I want to protect the identity of one person because he is a businessman. He would not want his name out there. We were four there. The other guy is one Sam, who is also part of the campaign of Kennedy. He (Oppong Bio) said this and laughed that if they were to make that offer to Kennedy today, he would find some good reason to tell the campaign team and then stop,” he said.

    “Let Kennedy tell us who in the DMB campaign made the officer. When Kennedy is lying, he uses they but when he has real facts, he mentions names.

    A prospective candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, has announced his intention to step down from his position as the chairman of Ghana Gas’s board if he does not secure the NPP leadership during the primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.

    During an interview on Oyerepa TV on November 1, 2023, Agyapong expressed his desire to address misconceptions surrounding his role and compensation as the chairman of the Ghana Gas board. He emphasized that there have been widespread allegations of financial benefits associated with his position, which he vehemently denied.

    Agyapong clarified that he receives a payment of GH¢2,600 for each board meeting he attends, noting that these meetings take place at irregular intervals, with sometimes several months elapsing between them.

    “Sometimes three months we haven’t even gone for a meeting. Funny enough, I didn’t even know how much I take, so when those conversations started, I went to ask the secretary, and I was told I take GH¢2,600,” he said.

    Agyapong further disclosed that he had discussed his resignation with a few board members, one of whom being Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, the Minister of Energy.

    He claims, though, that some members have been hesitant to allow him to resign from his role because of his beneficial contributions to the group.

    “I have told the board members, several times that I just want to resign. Even last week I was discussing it with NAPO, the minister, that I wanted to resign and go, but the board was even begging me not to leave. NAPO was advising me that I shouldn’t leave.

    “Go and sample opinions from the workers from Ghana Gas, changes that I have brought, investments that they have made. I have that leadership quality you can’t take it from me,” he added.

    He continued “If lose, I will stop, whoever will talk I won’t listen, I will leave, they have created the impression that there is money they to be looted.”

    Kennedy is one of three candidates vying for the flagbearership position: Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

    November 4, 2023 is the date set by the NPP to elect President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s replacement as the party’s leader.

    Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has stated that he has made a conscious decision to refrain from responding to the recent comments made by the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia.

    Speaking to the media, he stated that countering her remarks could potentially have a detrimental effect on her marriage.

    “I have vowed not to comment. You heard what Mrs. Bawumia said about me but I didn’t reply her because if I reply her, her marriage will collapse,” he stated. 

    Mr Agyapong’s comment comes in the wake of a recent campaign by Samira Bawumia in Amansie constituency. The Second Lady encouraged delegates not to vote for a candidate who had threatened that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would face defeat in the event of his loss in the flagbearer contest.

    However, Mr Agyapong believes that Samira Bawumia was indirectly referring to him when she advised against candidates who sought the downfall of the NPP.

    She emphasized the importance of party unity and criticized those who were campaigning with anger and advocating for the NPP to go into opposition if their favored candidate did not win.

    “It is imperative that our words reflect the gravity of this election for our party, and, for this reason, we must avoid making mistakes and present a unified front. Therefore, we should all unite behind a candidate with the potential to lead us to victory. However, those who engage in campaigning with bitterness and anger, suggesting that we should accept going into opposition if our preferred candidate is not successful, is that a stance we are willing to embrace,” she added. 

    In response to these comments, Ken Agyapong noted that those who argued that the Second Lady did not mention any names in her speech would be the first to accuse him of insulting women if he were to respond without explicitly naming individuals.

    As the political arena heats up in Ghana, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, who has a history of contentious statements and actions, has stepped into the spotlight as he embarks on his flagbearership campaign, in preparation for the upcoming Presidential primaries. 

    Despite the enthusiasm and confidence in becoming the next flagbearer and subsequently assuming the role of the President of the nation, the weight of his past actions, often labeled as ‘sins,’ threatens to overshadow his aspirations.

    The MP has gained notoriety for his provocative statements. He has consistently been at the center of various controversies, stirring up debates and attracting both support and criticism for his outspoken views. In this piece, The Independent Ghana highlights ‘7 past ‘sins’ of Kennedy Agyapong’ which is likely to haunt his political career. 

    Firstly, ‘Kill Ewes statement’: Mr Agyapong is reported to have fueled tribalism by declaring war on all Ewes living in the Ashanti region by inciting NPP activists in the region to attack Ewes with machetes and cutlasses. Despite his attempts at providing clarifications, this incident appears to be one that Ghanaians may find difficult to forgive him for.

    Ahmed Suale’s death: Ahmed Hussein Suale was an investigative journalist who died on Wednesday, 16 January 2019. He was killed by unidentified men on motorbikes who shot him three times, twice in the chest and once in his neck in his vehicle. Prior to his demise, Mr Agyapong had publicly attacked Mr Suale on his media platforms. 

    The legislator had shown a photo of the undercover journalist on TV, disclosed his place of residence and made comments that suggested that Ahmed was a ‘bad boy’ and anyone who sees him could be aggressive towards him. When Ahmed was eventually murdered by unknown gunmen months later, Mr Agyapong became one of the first to be accused of complicity in the incident.

    Leaking Afia Schwarzenegger: The MP in 2016 threatened to leak the nude photos of Ghanaian socialite Afia Schwarzenegger. Speaking on Oman FM’s Boiling Point, he said that he was going to release Afia Schwarzenegger’s naked pictures the following week.

    Death of Former MP J. B Dankwah: Hon. JB Danquah was murdered in his home on 9th February 2016 at Shiashie in Accra. He was the MP for Abuakwa North on the ticket of NPP. Daniel Asiedu aka Sexy Don Don, the main suspect in the murder of the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu later confessed to the crime.

    Daniel in his confession mentioned the names of those who hired him to end the life of the late JB Danquah. Hon Kennedy Agyapong was mentioned as having a hand in the contract killing of the former MP by the suspect Sexy Don Don. The MP has since been fighting for his reputation by denying the claims.

    Attacks on Anas: Ken Agyapong has never seen eye-to-eye with Anas Aremeyaw Anas arguing repeatedly that the modus operandi of the journalist was unethical and dangerous. A number of Anas’ projects notably ‘In The Eyes of God’ – about judicial corruption, ‘Number 12’ – about corruption in Ghana football and particularly Galamsey Fraud expose, only upped the ante relative to attacks from the lawmaker.

    It was with the galamsey piece that Agyapong dragged Anas’ boss Kweku Baako Jnr, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading GUIDE into the picture, relative to attacks and accusations of corruption and complicity in galamsey. Baako eventually won a defamation suit against Agyapong when an Accra High Court awarded him GHC130,000 in damages, way below the GHC25 million he had sought.

    However, in a recent development, Anas also dragged Mr Agyapong to court in a defamation suit, which the investigative journalist lost.

    NPP is useless comment: The MP has been actively involved in critiquing his own party, occasionally resorting to hurling insults at some party members. Mr Agyapong who has put a tag on himself as chief financier of the NPP, therefore, does whatever pleases him, has previously (in 2015) described the party as “useless” and members as “stupid, fools and idiots.” This statement incurred the wrath of many in the party and appears to be one of the ‘unforgivable sins’ committed by the now aspiring Presidential candidate.

    Attack on Churches: Like most Ghanaians, he believes in the existence of a supreme being who created heaven and earth, however, what he abhors is the manner in which some people practice their faith. He is convinced that while some genuine pastors exist, there are charlatans who parade as men of God and have majored in fleecing unsuspecting people of their monies. He has thus taken it upon himself to campaign against such persons.

    Mr Agyapong in recent past years waged a strong campaign against some popular pastors in the country of which Head Pastor of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, fell victim. Kennedy Agyapong who said he was on a mission to expose fake pastors who have taken advantage of innocent Ghanaians and are living lavishly off their sweat, ensured the arrest of Mr Obinim. 

    Mr Obinim was charged with the offences of publication of false news and forgery of documents contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and other offences Act, (1960) (ACT 29) respectively.  The MP who says he is still not happy with developments in the religious space, has vowed to renew his attack on the so-called men of God.

    Despite these ‘sins’ Mr Agyapong remains resolute in his quest to become the next leader of the party. Will he be forgiven by the party or will he face potential repercussions for his actions? Well, time will tell.

    He further mentioned that rather than being content within the party, Ken is going around making accusations because things didn’t go in his favor.

    In a recent interview on Wontumi FM, Opare-Ansah criticized Kennedy Agyapong, accusing him of harboring bitterness. He claimed that Agyapong’s decision to run for the NPP flagbearer position was motivated by bitterness, stemming from Dr. Bawumia’s refusal to grant him $500 million worth of annual contracts in exchange for his support.

    The NPP is set to elect its flagbearer for the 2024 presidential election on November 4, 2023. The candidates in the race include Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Francis Addai-Nimoh, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

    Media personality, Kevin Taylor, has raised questions about the alleged numerous benefits Kennedy Agyapong has acquired by his association with the current Akufo-Addo administration.

    Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a Member of Parliament for Assin Central, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a flagbearer aspirant for the NPP.

    Taylor who was responding to a series of statements made by Agyapong against the NPP and the President Akufo-Addo administration, said, contrary to the narrative the former is pushing in projecting the current government as corrupt, Mr Agyapong himself is rather, ” the one who has gotten more money under this administration than anyone else.”

    “Who gave Kennedy Agyapong’s wife the approval to be the board chair of the Ghana Shippers Authority? Is it not Akufo-Addo? Is it not the NPP government?” Taylor asked. He also questioned Agyapong’s appointment to the Ghana Gas board, noting that it was approved by Vice President Bawumia and backed by President Akufo-Addo.

    “Who put Kennedy Agyapong on the Ghana Gas board? It is Akufo-Addo. Today he says Akufo-Addo is a fool. It is Bawumia’s approval that enabled Kennedy Agyapong to be on the Ghana Gas board. Or am I lying? It is the president. It is the NPP members; they supported it,” he added.

    Taylor contended that Agyapong has received more financial benefits under the Akufo-Addo administration than anyone else, and has even gathered incriminating information on individuals to use against them.

    Kennedy Agyapong, on October 2, 2023, reportedly made accusations against his own party, alleging extensive corruption. He claimed the NPP was looting public funds on an alarming scale and stashing the stolen funds abroad. However, Agyapong later dismissed these reports, stating that the video capturing his comments had been taken out of context.

    According to Agyapong, the video was edited to “purposefully create disaffection towards me, Ken Ohene Agyapong, and to bring the Akufo-Addo government into disrepute.” He clarified that he remains a committed member of the NPP and supports President Akufo-Addo’s efforts to combat corruption.

    Taylor who said Mr Kennedy Agyapong “contradicts himself” also challenging him to explain why he hasn’t resigned from his board positions if he believes NPP members are “stealing from Ghana like there is no tomorrow”.

    “So if Kennedy tells you NPP members are thieves, who are the thieves? He is a first class criminal, because as we speak today, he is still serving a criminal. Kennedy Agyapong is serving Bawumia, he is serving Akufo-Addo, he is serving NPP as the board chair of Ghana Gas. So if Kennedy stands in front of you and tells you NPP members are thieves, they are stealing from Ghana like there is no tomorrow, he is basically still working for the Akufo-Addo administration.     Recent developments in Ghanaian politics have brought the issue of corruption to the fore, with media personality Kevin Taylor challenging Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong over his affiliations.

    Agyapong, a board member at Ghana Gas and a vocal member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has recently been in the spotlight for his own allegations against the NPP.

    Taylor asserts that Ken Agyapong, who sits on the board of Ghana Gas, has greatly benefited from the Akufo-Addo administration and has gained more financial advantages from the current administration than anyone else.

Taylor also noted that Agyapong still benefits from contracts awarded by COCOBOD, a state-owned entity, and that his wife continues to earn from her position at the Ghana Shippers Authority.

    Taylor challenged Agyapong by asking that, if he indeed felt the NPP government was dishonest, “Why doesn’t [he] resign from the Ghana gas board? Why doesn’t he tell his wife that after almost 8 years, she should step down as the board chair of Ghana shippers authority? No. But he is standing in front of you telling you NPP members are thieves. The guy is a thief. He contradicts himself. He is basically still employed by Akufo-Addo. Why is it that you have not rejected what Akufo-Addo gave to you to make money out of?” 

    On October 2, 2023, Ken Agyapong was reported to have accused the NPP of corruption and looting public funds. He indicated that the extent of this alleged looting was deeply concerning and claimed that these stolen funds were being stashed abroad.

    However, Agyapong later clarified that his comments were taken out of context. He explained that the video containing his remarks had been edited to create a misleading impression.

    During an interview on Wontumi Radio on October 27, 2023, Opare-Ansah expressed his strong belief in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ability to secure a victory in the Central Region.

    “We will beat him in the election in the Central Region, and he should try and make any attempt to cause anything. If he tries, I will let him sleep early, I will let him sleep before 6,” he said.

    The former MP questioned Agyapong’s loyalty to the party during their years in opposition.

    “Why did Kennedy feel like there were no men in the NPP? At the time that we were fighting for the party, where was he? Today we are in power and we have given you numerous contracts”, he alleged.

    Additionally, he brought attention to reports that Agyapong had threatened to disclose government secrets.

    “The last time he made someone call me that, if I don’t stop talking about him, he would spill the government’s secrets. Am I in the government for him to spill the government’s secret? That is what he does, threatening people that if they don’t do this, they will do this,” he added.

    Kennedy, along with Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, will compete for the position of flagbearer.

    The NPP plans to elect a new leader of the party on November 4, 2023, to replace President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

    Vocal critic Kevin Taylor has levelled serious allegations against Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant for Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). Taylor claims that Agyapong has been awarded approximately 70% of all contracts from the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

    According to Taylor, Kennedy Agyapong has benefited immensely from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration. Taylor states, “He is the one who has gotten more money under this administration than anyone else. When you go to COCOBOD, 70% of the contracts, they give it to Kennedy Agyapong.”

    Agyapong has also reportedly held key positions, including a place on the Ghana Gas board. Taylor goes further to claim that the approval for such roles came directly from Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

    Taylor went on to question Agyapong’s wife, alleging that she was made the board chair of the Ghana Shippers Authority with Akufo-Addo’s approval.

    He made these remarks on his online show, With All Due Respect, while reacting to Agyapong’s recent comments about the NPP’s alleged looting of public funds.

    He described Agyapong as a “thief” and a “funny dude” who is “still enjoying from the government” he claims is corrupt.

Kennedy Agyapong is serving Bawumia, he is serving Akufo-Addo, he is serving NPP as the board chair of Ghana Gas. So if Kennedy stands in front of you and tells you NPP members are thieves, they are stealing from Ghana like there is no tomorrow, he is basically still working for the Akufo-Addo administration,” Taylor lashed out.

    Kennedy Agyapong, on October 2, 2023, was reported to have made accusations of corruption against his own party. He claimed that the magnitude of the NPP’s alleged looting of public funds was as if “there was no tomorrow”.

    “The way the NPP is looting this country, you will think there is no tomorrow. You steal all this money and stash same abroad, what do you mean? The youth of this country are not working, yet you are intimidating people. I will put my life on the line and defend them,” he is reported to have said.

    However, Agyapong later clarified that the reports surrounding his allegations had been taken out of context. He stated that the video from which these reports stemmed was “culled from a private meeting” he had with party communicators in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. In a statement, Agyapong emphasised that he remains a committed member of the NPP and accused the media of creating a “deadly impression” of the party.

    The aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has recently conveyed a message of reconciliation during his walk in Cape Coast.

    Mr Agyapong emphasized his willingness to forgive anyone who may have offended him and encouraged fellow Ghanaians to extend the same spirit of forgiveness if he had unintentionally caused them any harm.

    Mr Agyapong stated, “I forgive everybody. Anyone who has crossed paths with me, I extend my forgiveness. Likewise, if I have unintentionally wronged anyone, I seek their forgiveness.”

    The New Patriotic Party is currently in the process of selecting its official flagbearer who will represent the party in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for December 2024.

    Speaking to the media, he urged Kennedy Agyapong to prioritize building a factory in his own constituency before making promises to the people of the northern regions regarding similar projects.

    During a recent campaign tour in the northern regions, Kennedy Agyapong, a hopeful flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), acquired land in the Tolon constituency with the intention of establishing a factory there.

    Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, the Tolon MP, expressed skepticism about Kennedy Agyapong‘s promise, highlighting that he has yet to fulfill a similar commitment in his own constituency. Alhaji Iddrisu implied that Kennedy Agyapong’s actions were more about campaigning to win the support of party delegates.

    He stated, “Kennedy was here, and he said he has acquired land from the chief for a factory to be built here in Tolon. Those of you who know Assin Central, please go there and see for yourself; there is no factory built by Kennedy, so don’t fall for his claims.”

    Alhaji Iddrisu further emphasized that out of the 175 Members of Parliament in the Ghanaian Parliament, none of them is actively supporting Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign. He argued that this lack of endorsement from his fellow MPs suggests that Kennedy Agyapong may not be the most suitable candidate to lead the party.     She further cautioned those close to Kennedy Agyapong to avoid conveying false information to him.

    “Akompreko, I am telling you, you are my younger sibling, if you open your mouth again and you do not seek the interest of the party… and those who have been speaking lies to him should be very careful because we know them,” Essiam warned.

    Additionally, Essiam called upon party members to actively participate in overseeing and holding flagbearer hopefuls accountable for their public statements, with the aim of safeguarding the party’s reputation.

    Dangoomah’s rebuke comes in response to allegations made by Kennedy Agyapong, suggesting that some NPP chairmen had engaged in vote-selling during the NPP’s super delegates’ election.

    Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on October 23, 2023, Dangoomah expressed his concerns about Agyapong’s actions, asserting that Agyapong’s baseless claims were undermining the unity and reputation of the NPP.

    Specifically, Dangoomah highlighted the accusation levelled against himself, where Agyapong alleged that he had accepted GH¢100,000 and a brand-new pickup truck in exchange for his vote during the August 26 election. Chairman Dangoomah firmly dismissed these allegations as groundless and untrue.

    “Ken is not a good person, but rather a bad person. When Ken came to the Northern region, he wanted to start a fight. He claimed that Dr. Bawumia gave me a brand-new pickup and 1 billion to vote for him,” Dangoomah stated. “I asked him who told him I took 1 billion and a brand-new pickup. He is an elderly person, so why would he be saying such things? He is a leader in the NPP, and the kind of things he has been saying; he cannot be a flagbearer because he doesn’t speak the truth.”

    Continuing, Dangoomah emphasised, “In the election that we went to, nobody gave me 1 billion, and nobody gave me a pickup. Many people know the truth, and they are aware that Ken is not a good person and is spreading falsehood.”

    Dangoomah cautioned Agyapong about the potential repercussions of his actions, stating, “I want to tell Kennedy Agyapong that next time he comes to the Northern region, whatever he will come and say there, he should try and speak the truth because the NPP wants to break the eight.”

    He concluded with a stern warning, ““… I want to tell Ken that, for me, Chairman Dangoomah, the next time he comes to the Northern region and does that again, he will see. I will show him down,” while also advising Agyapong to consider joining the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

     Ken Agyapong claimed that numerous party executives, including chairpersons, accepted significant sums of money and new vehicles in exchange for their votes during the elections. 

    According to him, some party leaders received as much as GH¢100,000 and brand-new pickup trucks in exchange for their support.

    “The super delegates election, 945 or so electorate. Some executives got as much as GH¢100,000, which is 1 billion old cedis, and some got Navara pickups. I have the pictures here, and if they dare me, I will put them on social media for everybody to see… they took a brand new pickup Navara, like the Mitsubishi pickup I brought to Yaa-Naa which is worth $40,000,” he said.

    He tasked other delegates for the November 4 vote to demand similar amounts or refuse to cast their votes for such candidates.

    “So, $40,000 multiplied by 11 is $440,000. In the Ashanti region, some got as high as GH¢150,000. Then some of the chairmen got Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, so why won’t he win?

    “This time I am advising all delegates and polling station executives to take at least GH¢100,000, if not, don’t vote for them because I, Kennedy Agyapong, with a loud mouth sitting here, I have one vote, and the polling station executives have one vote, your chairman has one vote, everybody has one vote,” he added.

    Kennedy Agyapong will compete for the NPP’s flagbearer slot along with three other contenders, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.     In a disconcerting tone, the young man issued a threat, insinuating that delegates who choose to vote for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the forthcoming delegates’ election would potentially encounter violence.

    This ardent supporter left no room for ambiguity as he underscored the imperative for delegates in the constituency to wholeheartedly endorse their outspoken Member of Parliament (MP) from Assin Central. The video has since gone viral, drawing significant public interest.

    He emphasised that on November 4, 2023, there will be no tolerance for delegates who fail to align their votes with MP Agyapong. The video has since garnered significant attention on TikTok.

    “I am saying that we will not give you the chance to come and vote in the first place,” the young man said in the video. “You cannot step foot in the voting centre to come and vote, and nobody can bring any police from anywhere; nobody can bring a soldier from anywhere; nobody can bring any colonel from anywhere to Assin Central.”

    “I am telling you. This (Kennedy Agyapong) is our own and we in Assin, if Kennedy becomes president and he doesn’t even do anything, all that we want is to have Assin in the history books,” he added.

    He rained curses on any delegate in Assin Central who would vote for Bawumia on November 4.

    “If you vote for Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, God’s wrath will be upon you. Someone has taken care of you and you can’t show gratitude to him but by rewarding him in this manner, God will bring his wrath on you,” the TikToker added.

    He did not spare the people of Assin Central, referring to them as villagers in his effusions.

    “It is because Assin Central is a village and the people are foolish and do not travel; they don’t know Kumasi nor Accra; f**l, if God wills it and Kennedy Agyapong wins, you would see how shameful you would be,” he added.

    For declaring their support for Bawumia, the Kennedy Agyapong devotee used unprintable words to describe the delegates.

    The King of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abubakari, has cautioned NPP Presidential aspirant, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, to refrain from making statements that promote division and animosity towards Northern residents.

    The King expressed his concern about such behaviors among politicians, which unfairly depict Northerners as inferior citizens.

    This advice came during the flagbearer hopeful’s courtesy visit to the Gbewaa palace, where he informed the King of his presence in Dagbon.

    Speaking to the media, Mr Owusu expressed the view that Chairman Wontumi’s behavior indicates he is not fit to lead the NPP in the region.

    During an interview on Akoma FM on October 16, 2023, Kwame Owusu stated that Chairman Wontumi’s conduct suggests that he is not suited to lead the NPP in the region.

    He accused the Ashanti Regional chairman of displaying bias in a role that requires ensuring fair treatment for all.

    “We don’t want somebody who is biased… we are going to ensure that someone like Wontumi (is removed).

    “We will campaign against him (Wontumi) because I don’t want a biased person in a position that requires fairness. How can we allow that to happen? We are saying that he (Wontumi) has not demonstrated what it takes to be a chairman of a region,” he said in Twi.

    “I’m saying this from the standpoint of his behaviour. I’m not talking about any animosity between us. But if someone is a chairman in our party, he must act as one, he must remain neutral,” he clarified.

    He additionally stated that apart from the NPP Ashanti Regional chairman, they would also campaign for the removal of other party leaders who have exhibited similar behavior from their positions.

    During an interview with Kasapa FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Osofo Kyiri Abosom encouraged Kennedy Agyapong to switch allegiance from the NPP and stand as his running mate for GUM in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

    “With my brother Kennedy Agyapong, I would say he is knowledgeable and intelligent, so if it’s possible he should come and support me. This is a serious issue I’m telling him. He is such an intelligent person but his long talks and everything he is doing will be in vain. So if he can he should join forces with me for GUM.

    Osofo Kyiri Abosom pointed out that Kennedy Agyapong’s path to becoming the flagbearer of GUM was not feasible since he had already been elected and officially endorsed.

    Consequently, the most suitable role for Kennedy Agyapong within the party would be to assume the position of a running mate.

    “If Ken wants to lead while I become the running mate, that’s not possible because I’ve already been elected so why would I step down for him to take charge? The electoral commission has taken my details already so should I go and change it? that’s not possible,” he said.

    Ghanaian artiste Wanlov the Kubolor has shared his reasons for not supporting presidential aspirant and MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

    This response came following a Twitter poll by GhanaWeb on October 16, where social media users were asked to provide their reasons for not voting for Kennedy Agyapong as president.

    The responses varied, with many highlighting his outspoken and controversial nature as well as his affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

    On the other hand, some expressed their support for the aspirant, considering him a strong candidate for the presidency.

    Wanlov the Kubolor chimed in on the conversation, providing his reasons for not endorsing Kennedy Agyapong. In his response to GhanaWeb’s post on Twitter, he listed specific actions for which he held the aspirant accountable.

    Wanlov’s tweet stated, “said to kill Ewes; said Ghanaians from the north cannot lead the country; put a target on a journalist that got him murdered; behaves idiotic and petty; is tribalist; threatens judges; will be as bad as Akufu Addo, if not worse.”

    These reasons prompted further discussion on the matter, with some users agreeing with Wanlov’s assertions while others questioned the accuracy of these claims. The aim was to verify the veracity of Kubolor’s claims and determine whether they were factual or personal opinions.

    In an interview with Oman FM in 2012, Kennedy Agyapong allegedly made incendiary comments and suggested violence against Voltarians in the Ashanti Region.

    He is quoted to have said: “Today I declare war on this country; Gbevlo-Lartey and his people, IGP, should know this. Voltarians in the Ashanti Region will not be spared. If anyone touches you, butcher him with a cutlass.”

    However, the MP has indicated that he meant no harm with this statement. In June 2023, he clarified that the comment was in defence of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Volta Region who were allegedly being molested by some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not to incite hate against Ewes as purported.
