Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s influence within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) continues to grow, with an increasing number of party members openly expressing their support for the Vice President. This surge of support is a testament to his rising popularity within the party.

Just a week after executives in the Assin Central Constituency of the Central Region openly declared their backing for Dr. Bawumia, executives and supporters from the Ashanti Region have followed suit.

During a news conference held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, supporters who had previously aligned themselves with John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and Kennedy Agyapong switched their allegiance to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. They pledged unwavering support for his potential presidential candidacy.

Led by Mr. Dawuda Afriyie, the First Vice Chairman of the Offinso North Constituency, they were captured in a viral video singing praises to the Vice President and chanting the slogan “It’s Possible.”

Addressing the press, Adul Aziz Ismail, also known as Kennedy Ba, a polling station executive from Kwaman Methodist in the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency, emphasized the necessity for a candidate with a strong chance of winning, and they believe Dr. Bawumia is that candidate.

He stated, “We are looking for a winnable flagbearer for the 2024 polls. Some of our MPs and executives have come under severe attacks over their choice of their preferred candidates. The Majority Leader, who has been an MP for several years, knows the best candidate to be the flagbearer and settled on the Vice President as the best candidate. Our father Kan Dapaah believes Bawumia is the obvious choice, and we have bought into their idea. As a result, we have resolved to support the Vice President.”

Mr. Adul Aziz Ismail characterized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the ideal candidate to lead the NPP as its flagbearer in the 2024 elections. He stressed that this endorsement is driven by the greater good of the NPP and not influenced by any incentives or personal interests.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dawuda Afriyie, a dedicated supporter of Alan Kyeremanten in the Ashanti Region, expressed his disappointment with the behavior of the NPP member who had resigned.

He stated, “After Alan’s decision to resign from the NPP, it is obvious I am not a kid in politics to be shown which path to choose. I voted for Busia in 1969 and I have been voting to date. I have supporters, and we decided to throw our support behind Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We have supporters in the 15 constituencies assigned to me, and I can assure you they will all be for Bawumia now.”

Our father will represent majority of Ghanaians, not a small section – Ken Agyapong’s daughters

The daughters of Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have provided reasons behind their belief that their father would make an exceptional president for Ghana if elected.

The four ladies in a viral video noted that unlike representing just a fraction or a minute section of citizens, their father, who is also the MP for Assin Central, will be the voice for the majority of voiceless Ghanaians in the country.

They also highlighted his achievements as a father and the way he raised them. According to them, these leadership qualities would be transferred to his potential government.

“Hello everyone, first of all, thank you all for taking time off to support our dad, we all just want you to know things about him,” one daughter is heard saying in a video posted online.

“Aside from the fact that he is a great father, he has done a great job raising us, so, if he could raise a family, a village of his own, imagine what he can do for the country of Ghana,” she adds.

“In addition to that, he is a politician who represents the foundation of Ghana, he is going to be a president who represents the 99% and not just the one percent,” another adds.

The four at the end of their video declared: “No Ken, no vote! No Ken, no vote!”

Kennedy Agyapong, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Assin North constituency, is actively campaigning for the position of the NPP’s flagbearer.

Kennedy Agyapong recently hosted the third edition of his renowned showdown walk in the Western Region, where he continued to critique the government and his primary opponent in the forthcoming NPP primaries scheduled for November 4.

Agyapong is set to vie for the NPP’s flagbearer position, alongside three other contenders: Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has chosen November 4, 2023, as the date to select a new leader for the party, who will ultimately succeed President Akufo-Addo.

The hooligans who invaded UTV are tarnishing our reputation – Ken Agyapong

Presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, has strongly denounced the recent assault on UTV studios by a faction with NPP affiliations.

He expressed concern that such actions not only harm the party’s image but also pose a risk to media freedom in the nation.

“When you want to terminate someone’s employment, pastors come to plead, chiefs intervene, and politicians issue threats, as seen when NPP members attacked UTV. I mean, what is this? You can’t do that in any country.

“It’s unacceptable to forcibly enter a private TV and radio station simply because they don’t speak for you. These actions need to change; NPP members are tarnishing our reputation,” he said.

The Assin Central MP also pointed out President Akufo-Addo’s prior commitments to bolster media freedom in Ghana when assuming office.

Agyapong raised questions regarding the recent incident at UTV Studios and similar events, questioning why they had occurred despite the president’s pledge to promote a vibrant and unrestricted media environment.

“When the president was aspiring, he pledged to liberate journalism, media. And all those things. So, what happened? That they want every TV station and the media to talk about a particular person and those that fail then attack them, so today you people and NDC who are more violent?” he added.

Mr Agyapong made these remarks during an interview on Skyy Power Radio in the Western Region, as part of his flagbearer campaign, which also featured a Showdown March.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has distanced itself from the invasion of UTV studios by some of its members last Saturday, October 7, 2023.

A group affiliated with the NPP stormed the UTV studios during the live broadcast of its entertainment program, United Showbiz shortly after it commenced.

The show then abruptly went off air while commercials filled the screen. The group trooped in to demand the removal of musician Kwame A-Plus, from the programme for tearing up a letter said to be from the Communication wing of the NPP.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media with many condemning the intrusion, while others questioned the state of security at the media house.

Hours later, the Police in a statement announced that it had arrested 16 persons involved in the incident. Subsequently, institutions such as the Ministry of Information, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the National Media Commission (NMC) condemned the attacked, noting that free expression and freedom of the media must be fiercely protected.

According to the GJA, some individuals managed to escape as “30 hooligans attacked the studios of the Accra-based private television station”.

In response to the brouhaha, the leadership of the New Patriotic Party has rendered an apology to UTV, noting that it would cooperate with the police to investigate the matter.

Director of Communications for the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah, who engaged the press noted that the party did not sanction anyone to go and disrupt the United Showbiz programme. He is quoted to have said “We think that the attack is unacceptable, and it’s condemnable.”

NPP Primaries: I won’t leave but I’ll frustrate you if I’m cheated – Ken Agyapong to NPP

A candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, has issued a stern caution to his party in anticipation of the presidential primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.

During an interview on Skyy Power FM on October 13, 2023, Agyapong noted that he would frustrate the party instead of exiting should the primaries be characterised by electoral malpractices and violence.

He clarified, “It is not true. Condition wise, I won’t leave; I will remain, but I will frustrate you. Yes, I will frustrate you heavily.

“What I am saying is that in the upcoming election, if they don’t repeat the chaos and violence we saw on August 26, then I do not have a problem. Whoever wins, I will support.

“But if they repeat the events of August 26, I will give them a showdown, and there’s no two ways about it,” he said.

He confidently stated that he outpaces Alan Kyerematen, a former NPP member who has recently departed from the party to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections.

He added “I am a very fair-minded person; I am not asking too much. If nobody is beaten, the votes proceed decently, and Dr. Bawumia wins, I will support. But if there is chaos and violence… I have built my system so that I will get my results, and nobody can cheat me in the elections, so I am only asking for fairness.

“The camping that they went to do at Kingstel Hotel, the same place where we took security there in 2016. This time they should go and camp people…if they want unity, they should stop such things because, for me, I am worse than Alan, oh yes, I am hinting to you that I am worse than Alan if there is no fairness, I will give them a showdown.”

Kennedy will vie for the NPP flagbearer position, alongside three other competitors, namely Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, as the date for selecting a new leader to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the head of the party.

My focus on patriotism, honesty will earn me votes – Kennedy Agyapong

A flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has expressed his confidence in winning the party’s November 4 primaries.

Speaking to the media in Takoradi before his Showdown Walk event, Kennedy Agyapong called on his supporters to actively participate in the primaries, regardless of the outcome.

He emphasized the importance of patriotism, honesty, and discipline for Ghana’s rapid development.

He highlighted the need for Ghanaians to prioritize the welfare and interests of the country over personal gain.

Kennedy Agyapong further pointed out that dishonesty is a major problem in the country, causing economic challenges and hindering effective resource and business management.

He believes that addressing these issues is crucial for the development of Ghana.

“We need to be patriotic, honest, and disciplined to develop our country. People are not patriotic, we are greedy and selfish and don’t think about the welfare and the interest of the country at heart. Ghanaians think about themselves before the country and the moment you put yourself first, you defeat the purpose of development.”

“The level of dishonesty in this country is causing the economy to fail at all levels because foreigners have proven to us that we are not poor but because of dishonesty, we are not able to manage our resources and businesses and that is collapsing the country.”

“The others used money to intimidate people” – Ken Agyapong on why Alan lost the delegate election

Kennedy Agyapong, flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has provided insights into why his fellow contender, Alan Kyerematen, faced challenges in the NPP super delegates election held on August 26, 2023.

During an interview on Neat FM on October 5, 2023, Agyapong asserted that Alan Kyerematen‘s choice to maintain a low profile within the party for extended periods had consequences for his campaign. He explained that during the years when Kyerematen remained relatively inactive in politics, a new generation of voters had emerged.

Many of these young voters were now eligible to participate in the election, but they were unfamiliar with Alan Kyerematen due to his prolonged absence from the political scene.

“He (Alan) and I were engaging in a fair campaign, but the others were on the other side and using money to intimidate people.

“They were going to win because of their intimidation tactics, wealth, and power, but Alan and I were going to win because of our popularity among the general public.

“Alan has been a part of the system for a while, but there came a point where it appeared he stayed quiet and was silent. The majority of the children who were young at the time are now adults who are able to vote, so if you think back to when Kufour was in power when someone was 10 years old, they are now 25 years old and don’t know about Alan at the time,” he said.

Kennedy Agyapong further elaborated that one of the significant missteps made by Alan Kyerematen could have been his decision not to become a Member of Parliament.

Agyapong suggested that his own continuous presence, both in the media and as a Member of Parliament, had been instrumental in preserving his visibility and popularity within the political landscape.

“Many of them don’t know Alan because he withdrew from society and went quiet over the years, but I have consistently served in Parliament, and I believe that honorable Alan made the mistake of not being forced to become a Member of Parliament. For me, my consistency on radio and television in good and bad times has made me well known,” he added.

In the super delegates election, Bawumia secured a total of 629 votes, which amounted to 68.15 percent of the overall votes, making him the top candidate.

Kennedy Agyapong secured the second position with 132 votes, equating to 14.30 percent of the vote share. Alan Kyerematen garnered 95 votes, accounting for 10.29 percent of the total votes cast.

“I don’t want a president that will come and kill Ewes and Gas” – Blind historian on why he prefers Bawumia to Ken

Visually impaired political activist, Duodu Bulgaria, has voiced his unwavering support for Bawumia over Ken, citing the need for peace and inclusivity as his primary motivators.

Duodu Bulgaria’s impassioned words centred on his desire for a leader who would foster unity and peace.

“I am a disabled man, so I want a president who will let me have my peace. Even without money, if I have peace, I am content. I don’t want a president who will introduce conflict into the country,” he began.

This was a subtle swipe at the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, who is also contesting the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party alongside Bawumia.

Kennedy Agyapong in 2012 reportedly “declared war on all Ewes and Gas living in the Ashanti region, and that the NPP activists in the region should attack Ewes with machetes and cutlasses”, according to a report by The True Statesman.

Bulgaria, attempting to elevate Dr Bawumia, took a jab at this alleged utterance by Kennedy in the past and based his preference for Bawumia on several factors, including the latter’s knack for peace.

“13th April 2012, did you not hear about the Assin Central MP who wants to be president saying we should kill all GAs and Ewes? Am I the one putting words in his mouth? Did he not say that at his radio station? If someone tells you something as an adult, and if someone from elsewhere comes to relay something, won’t you verify it? You just go with the information and repeat it everywhere? But, let’s say what the person said is true? Does that call for the killing of a whole tribe?,” he questioned.

Duodu Bulgaria’s impassioned speech centred on his desire for a leader who would foster unity and peace.

“Dr Bawumia told me that when he comes to power, the NIA will collect the data of PWDs who are unemployed to help them receive some allowances every month. I strongly believe him. There is no one in this world I trust more than Bawumia. The whole world. He is an honest person,” Duodu explained.

When the host questioned the blind historian’s inclination towards Bawumia, Duodu was quick to defend his choice, contrasting the leadership styles of Nana Addo and Bawumia. He said, “Everyone has their style of leadership. Nana Addo has done his part. When Bawumia comes, he will also be a different person altogether.”

Backing up his endorsement for Bawumia, Duodu lauded his efforts, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He pointed out Bawumia’s statement that while humans couldn’t be brought back, the economy could be revived.

“Look at the dollar’s depreciation and its stability now. Dr Bawumia’s policies, such as the oil for gold policy, have proven beneficial, leading to manageable fuel prices,” he noted.

Duodu firmly believes that Bawumia’s presidency will offer a deeper insight into his capabilities and vision for Ghana.

Ken Agyapong to reconcile Alan with NPP after primaries – Lawyer

Lawyer William Kusi, Head of Communications for Kennedy Agyapong‘s campaign team in the Ashanti Region, has stated that if their candidate wins the November 4 presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he will work towards reconciling Mr. Alan Kyeremanten with the party. He also cautioned the party’s leadership to ensure a free and fair election, expressing confidence in their candidate’s victory.

According to Lawyer William Kusi, bringing back Mr Alan Kyeremanten to the party is one of their strategies to reunite the party to face John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections.

“We don’t want a situation where we will challenge the election results after November 4, we don’t want to do that, we love NPP, and we want NPP to be united so we have said that when our candidate emerges as the winner, we are going to beg Alan to come back to the party to go into the election. We love NPP, we don’t want a disintegrated NPP”, he said.

He also observed that since Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten’s departure from the party, individuals who were previously openly disregarding the party’s regulations to support the establishment candidate have now become more diplomatic in their approach. Lawyer William also raised questions about the whereabouts of the electoral album for the presidential primaries.

‘I will sit back and watch what will happen’ – Ken Agyapong details his next move if he loses Nov 4 election

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has spoken clearly about his course of action should he not secure the flagbearer position for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming primaries, especially amidst circulating rumours of potential rigging.

Agyapong is contending for the top spot against other notable figures such as Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Agric Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai Nimoh. This is a step towards the presidential candidacy for the 2023 general elections.

“I command the respect and backing of a majority of the delegates, particularly the polling station executives, for whom I have always shown respect and advocated,” Agyapong shared, projecting an assertive 70% win in the flagbearer contest.

Furthermore, he has debunked circulating whispers suggesting he might depart from the NPP to align with Alan Kyerematen, the independent presidential aspirant and leader of the Movement for Change (MFC).

During an interview with Bola Ray on Star FM, Mr Agyapong was unequivocal in his commitment to the party, irrespective of the primaries outcome. “Why would I even think of leaving the party just because of a potential setback in a flagbearer race? If things don’t turn out as expected, I won’t create chaos; I will simply take a step back and keenly observe subsequent events,” he affirmed.

The NPP primaries are highly anticipated, not just within the party but across the nation. The chosen flagbearer will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in the 2023 general elections, setting the tone for a head-to-head contest with candidates from other political factions, primarily the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ungrateful MPs, I will teach them a lesson after Nov 4 – Ken attacks NPP MPs

Flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong has characterised certain Members of Parliament (MPs) within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as ingrates.

During an interaction with the media, he expressed deep disappointment in the way some of these MPs are treating him, even after he has provided assistance and support to them.

Mr Agyapong emphasized that the grievances he holds against these individuals are long-lasting, indicating that forgiving them is a challenging task.

He stated that time will eventually reveal the consequences of their actions, particularly after the party’s Primaries Contest slated for November 4, 2023.

“Last week one of them that I have helped, I will never forgive him but I am waiting but after Nov 4 he will see what will happen. If you’re not even going to vote for me you have a choice, I don’t have a problem,” he stated.

The Assin Central MP also voiced his dismay over the actions of some MPs who are actively discouraging delegates from voting for him.

He mentioned his prior support and active campaigning for Member of Parliament for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency, Obeng-Boateng.

According to him, despite his past assistance, Obeng-Boateng is now campaigning him.

“I went there to campaign for this MP to win and this man picks a phone and calls delegates and says don’t vote for Ken Agyapong, vote for number 2 on the ballot.

“Then one of them asked him, why? He said Ken Agyapong makes reckless statements. I’m talking about Bibiani MP, I campaigned for him. I left his place 1:00am. For this man to say I talk recklessly, I can never forgive that guy.

“When they sacked him from BOST, he was always in my house till about 1:00am consoling him. If you won’t vote for me, no problem, but for you to tell delegates in your area that I speak recklessly, I leave him to God,” Ken lamented.

A prospective flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has publicly disclosed that he played a pivotal role in the process of appointing individuals for various government positions.

Speaking to the media he stated that the process took place within his residence at Mövenpick in Accra.

According to him, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the NPP, Bernard Boasiako-Antwi, (Chairman Wontumi) and a member of the party, Edward Boateng are the only individuals who can attest to his claim.

He mentioned that Chairman Wontumi even traveled from Kumasi, located in the Ashanti Region, to his residence at Movenpick to deliver the list of prospective appointees, seeking his assistance in the selection process.

“Ungrateful is very hurting, I look at the MPs and I say eeish, some of them I fought for them to get the ministerial appointment ,today let me take the opportunity to challenge Wontumi to come out if I am lying because my witness is Edward Boateng . With the exception of Asenso, every minister in Ashanti Region the list was done in my house. I had a hand in Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s appointment. Wontumi is there call him, this is not an insult it’s the truth,” he indicated.

Mr Agyapong further revealed that after receiving the list, he meticulously reviewed it, making adjustments based on the qualifications and suitability of each individual for their respective roles.

Subsequently, he personally met with the President Akufo-Addo to discuss and recommend his selections and adjustments related to these ministerial appointments.

“Why is it that Wontumi brought the Ashanti list from Kumasi to my house at Movenpick, and my witness is Edward Boateng and said look put this person here. I went first to tell the president to consider. Matthew Opoku Prempeh knows because one person,” he revealed.

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has unveiled his plan to establish a fund aimed at promoting the construction of additional studios in Ghana with the aim of bolstering the creative arts industry.

He highlighted the scarcity of high-quality movie and music video production in the country and emphasised the necessity of injecting more financial resources to facilitate the work of artists and producers.

Expressing concern over the insufficient number of studios in Ghana, which has been hindering the progress of the creative arts sector, the NPP flagbearer aspirant pledged that if elected as the nation’s president, he would initiate a program to construct additional studios.

During an interview with Bola Ray on Starr FM, on Thursday, October 5, 2023, Kennedy Agyapong elaborated on his comprehensive plans to enhance the entertainment industry in the country.

“Let me tell you something: we need to build fantastic studios over here. What I don’t like is why is it that any good music or show, they have to go and do it in Dubai, South Africa. We are going to do it here under my presidency. Nice studios. Let others also come here, we are human beings.

“We have to challenge ourselves; we need nice studios. When you enter the studio, like what you’ve done, you should be proud of and you can change it for the next artiste. So we need beautiful studios over here. We have to create a fund for them [the creative arts industry], because to produce a good movie or song, you need a lot of money,” said Kennedy Agyapong.

Kennedy Agyapong is vying for the position of flagbearer within the ruling New Patriotic Party. His competitors in this race include Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and former legislator Francis Addai Nimo.

I am very bitter – Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential candidate hopeful within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has candidly expressed his distress towards some party members especially those whom he asserts to have supported and aided in the past..

According to to him, there are several individuals in the party he has assisted but they are now rallying behind Vice President Bawumia in his bid for the presidency, rather than supporting his own presidential aspirations

For this reason he said “ I am very very bitter. Especially those who are not ministers that I have helped. My wife tells me to try and control the rage. I am very bitter. These MPs, the help that I have given them and some of them they come and their excuse is that if I support you… and it is true. One MP declared that he was going to support me and they threatened him that your market at Akim Oda they are not going to do it.”

“That is how bad the situation is, they have threatened a lot of MPs that if you don’t follow one person, they are going to bring another person to contest you, and all of them are afraid,” he stated.

Mr Agyapong additionally stated that “I wouldn’t have known my enemies if I had not contested.”

Also, he specifically mentioned an MP, Alfred Obeng-Boateng, who represents the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency in the Western North Region.

According to Ken, he had personally provided assistance and actively campaigned for Obeng-Boateng in the past.

But despite his past support, Obeng-Boateng is now actively campaigning against him.

“Last week one of them that I helped, I will never forgive him but after November 4th he will see what will happen. You see, if you are not even going to vote for me, you have a choice and I don’t have a problem.

“But the people in his constituency know that I went there to campaign for him, and this man picks up a phone and calls delegates, telling them not to vote for Kennedy Agyapong, but to vote for number two on the ballot. And then one of them asked him why, and he said Kennedy Agyapong doesn’t know how to talk,” he added.

He continued “I campaigned for him in Bibiani; I am not afraid of him, Alfred Obeng. I left his place at 1:00 a.m. for this man to tell me that I don’t know how to talk. I can never forgive that guy.”

Don’t be like me, stick to one woman -Ken advises young men against polygamy

Kennedy Agyapong has offered advice to young men, cautioning them against maintaining multiple partners.

The NPP flagbearer aspirant emphasised that such a situation can lead to numerous problems from which one may never fully recover.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong conveyed that being entangled in such a predicament is a challenging ordeal, and he added that even with substantial wealth, it may prove difficult to rectify.

In a Twitter post, Mr. Agyapong, who has kids with five different women, said, “I won’t advise any young man to have multiple women only if you knew the problems I go through.”

He reiterated such opinions during a conversation with Bola Ray on Starchat.

“I did it when I was young; looking back, I am advising my kids now not to do such things. Although my joy is in the kids, the problems are a lot. The children are always together so when you buy a business class for one, you have to buy for all,” he added.

Kennedy Agyapong, who is currently married to two legitimate wives, recently celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his first spouse, Aunty Christy.

One can recall that in an earlier interview with CitiTV, the outspoken politician said he has ten other ‘baby mamas’ and his kids totaled 22.

“I have 22 kids… I don’t have one wife; I have two wives; the 10 others, I have babies with them,” he said.

He added that because he opposed abortion, he was forced to have a large family.

Alan will pull 10% or 15% of national vote – Ken Agyapong

Presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, is confident of a strong showing by former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen during the 2024 general elections.

Mr Kyerematen announced his exit from the NPP on September 25, revealing his decision to run as an independent candidate ahead of the country’s next polls.

Some politicians have cast doubt on a good performance by the former Trade Minister. But Mr Kennedy Agyapong thinks otherwise.

During an interview on Starr FM, the Assin Central MP noted that Mr Kyerematen will poll about 10 to 15 percent of the total votes cast.

Mr Agyapong conveyed that Alan Kyerematen’s personality will get a significant number of people voting for him.

“Alan’s personality, besides being an Ashanti, people love him. The way he is. With all due respect to Osofo Kyereabosom. He was not a politician, we didn’t know him. He came and got three percent. How can you say that Alan will not get 10-15 percent. Oh, of course.”

In response to the likes of Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Paul Adom-Otchere, who share opposing views, Mr Agyapong said “They don’t get it.”

“I am a grassroots man.. It is a big problem to us. I am telling you. Anybody who says Alan is not relevant to the NPP so he should go means he doesn’t like the party,” he added.

Founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has expressed doubts about Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s chances of winning the 2024 presidential election.

Speaking on JoyFM, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe explained that when Mr Kyerematen announced his resignation from the NPP, he indicated establishing a movement which will be led and powered by the youth of Ghana.

However, he expressed disbelief about whether the Ghanaian youth actually supports the vision and the movement established by Mr Kyerematen.

“No, no, and no again. What even interested me was the fact that he was calling on the youth of Ghana. He says the movement belongs to the youth. Now, if you have the minds of the youth, they would have seen it long ago,” he said.

I have 257 houses in Ghana – Ken Agyapong

Renowned Ghanaian business mogul and politician, Kennedy Agyapong, has sated that he has 257 houses under his name in Ghana.

In a conversation with the media, he shared that his motivation for investing in real estate was inspired by an encounter with a young girl from Dubai.

Mr Agyapong, who is also a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), recounted that the young girl advised him to channel his savings, initially intended for acquiring a private jet, into real estate investments.

Initially taken aback by the wisdom of such a young individual, he eventually embraced the advice, resulting in the acquisition of numerous properties not only in East Legon but throughout the country.

“Now I have established enough businesses, it was a young girl who advised. I actually deposited one billion to buy a jet. One day a lady came from Dubai, she was into real estates. She went with me and inspected some of the lands that I have.

“And she said honorable I am a young girl but I hear you want to buy plane and other things and these lands that you have, why don’t you use the money to develop it. In fact I felt so bad that this young girl gave me a smart advice, and I took her advice irrespective of her age, ” he added.

However, he has disclosed his intention to proceed with the purchase of a private jet after establishing a paint company.

” I have a paint company coming up, then I am done with that I will get a jet. My houses in East Legon is not up to 100 but other places put together are 257, for lands, I have them everywhere.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, known for his affluence and influence, is likely to be among the prominent wealthy individuals in Ghana today.

The 63-year old defines success as “how well you place yourself in society to affect people’s lives”.

The MP coming a long way, has revealed that he started selling items such as P.K chewing gum, chocolate bars, blades, and buckets on the streets around Circle.

Along the way, he seized an opportunity to travel to Germany and the U.S. in 1984.

During his time abroad, the industrious young Ken worked tirelessly, holding two jobs at a bakery and a gas station, earning $400 a week without a green card.

Saving $100 from his earnings, he made a significant leap by purchasing his first taxi. Over the course of seven months, he expanded his taxi fleet, acquiring a total of eight taxis.

He exhibited thriftiness in his spending habits, using $3,000 saved from his 11 sources of income to buy auctioned cars at $1,500 each, which he shipped to Ghana for profitable resale.

In 1988, at the age of 28, Ken Agyapong made a pivotal investment by purchasing his first house valued at $24,000 in East Legon near Ambassadorial Hotel.

However, he attributes his major breakthrough to September 30, 1996, when a U.S. Visa lottery, initiated during the Reagan administration, offered an opportunity to win a green card for residence in the U.S.

Capitalizing on this, Ken Agyapong facilitated the immigration of 257 Ghanaians to the U.S. for a fee of $5,000 each, amounting to a significant sum of $1,285,000.

This marked the turning point in his financial trajectory, propelling him into the realm of millionaires at a relatively young age.

As a father of 14 children, Ken Agyapong holds a deep appreciation for family.

He has sponsored the migration of 400 individuals from his village, including his wives and children, to the U.S.

  • Kennedy Agyapong will break away from NPP after Nov 4 – Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has asserted that Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, will part ways with the ruling New Patriotic Party following the much-anticipated presidential primaries slated for November 4.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, the presidential aspirant would only exit the ruling party if he fails to emerge flagbearer at the end of the day.

He noted that recent actions by Mr Agyapong indicate to him that he join Alan Kyerematen who recently exited the ruling party owing to challenges with the electoral processes to elect a flagbearer, among others.

“I can tell you on authority that he doesn’t want to be part of NPP. He has decided, per his actions, show that if you don’t vote for him on November 4, he will leave the party and follow Alan,” he said.

In recent times, there has been bad blood between Mr Agyapong and some members of the NPP including  Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Chairman Wontumi at a press conference in Kumasi earlier on Wednesday threatened to cause the arrest of Kennedy Agyapong if he “threatens” him again.

But Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team in the Ashanti Region has called the bluff of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, over his threat to cause the arrest of the flagbearer aspirant.

Meanwhile, a member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communication team, Kwadwo Danquah, has also projected that Mr Kennedy Agyapong will leave the NPP.

According to Mr Kwadwo Danquah, he expects Mr Agaypong to follow the footsteps of former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen owing to the alleged maltreatment meted out to them by the leadership of the ruling party.

The Eastern Regional Communications Office made the prediction during an interview on Power FM on September 26, 2023.

“When they go to their office, they go for Kan Dapaah’s boys to come and beat them and destroy their cars. That is what they did to Alan and for that, he has resigned from the party. That thing Akufo-Addo is doing may cause the downfall of the NPP. Mark my words today, Ken Agyapong will also go independent. He will resign and go independent.”

“I am the Eastern Regional Communications Officer; I am saying it on your platform. Today is 26th September 2023, I’m saying after they conclude the November primaries, Kennedy Agyapong will go independent.”

  • ‘NPP is looting the country’ remarks is regrettable misinterpretation of the core message I intended to convey – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, who serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and is also a potential flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has addressed a viral video, emphasising that he did not accuse the NPP of recklessly depleting the nation’s resources with no concern for the future, as depicted in the video clip.

He clarified that the video had been taken from a private meeting he held with some NPP communicators in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, over the past weekend. In the video, the Assin Central MP criticised the NPP for engaging in activities that raised serious concerns, alleging that they were “plundering” the country without considering its long-term consequences.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Agyapong argued that the video had been intentionally edited to damage his reputation and cast a negative light on the Akufo-Addo government.

“My attention has been drawn to a video on social media that has since gone viral where I am heard saying that the NPP was looting the country as if there was not tomorrow. I wish to state that this is a complete and unfortunate misrepresentation of the actual content and focus of my message at that private event in Kumasi. It was a meeting with a small group of NPP communicators who had organised a small fundraising event for me at the weekend.

“At the event, I lamented the fact that our communicators were letting the party down and that every government would have its fair share of corruption cases, especially in 8 years, but because of one or two bad cases which the authorities were handling and in a transparent manner as it should be, we have, sadly, allowed the ruthless opposition propaganda machinery, the mass media and the social media to create the deadly impression that NPP was looting as If there was no tomorrow, including allegations of stashing funds abroad,” part of the statement read.

Agyapong went on to provide further clarification, stating that the video had been recorded during a private meeting and had been deliberately edited with the intent to sow discord, tarnish his reputation, and negatively impact the government’s standing.

“I wish to stress the point that the offending video was culled from a private meeting with some communicators in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, over the weekend and edited to purposefully create disaffection towards me, Ken Ohene, and Agyapong and to bring the Akufo-Addo government into disrepute.

“Indeed, I told the gathering not to be fooled by the lies against our government and party and also expressed my anger and unhappiness about the way we were allowing ourselves to be unfairly bashed in the media, especially social media, as if we were worse than the NDC, which is certainly not the case,” the statement further read.

Kennedy Agyapong maintained that he was focused on helping the party break the eight, as that is their mantra.

“I remain a committed member of our great party and hope to lead us in our quest to ‘break the eight’, as together, we face John Mahama and the NDC for the “showdown” on December 7, 2024,” the statement read in its concluding part.

  • Ezekiel 18:22: Change your ways – Wontumi advises Kennedy Agyapong

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi, has hit back at the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and aspiring NPP flagbearer, Kennedy Agyapong, over his recent allegations against him and Vice President Dr. Bawumia.

In a fiery response, Wontumi urged Agyapong to desist from threats and inflammatory remarks, and to change his ways before the November 4th elections.

Wontumi, who is known for his bold and often controversial statements, addressed the media on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He expressed his commitment to fostering development within the party, and swore that he would not say anything against Agyapong or the NPP. “Everything I do is to bring development,” he said.

However, he did not mince his words when it came to critiquing Agyapong’s style of addressing issues, highlighting concerns about the use of threatening language.

“Now everything you say concerning what people have done to you won’t do anything. Instead, comments about someone being foolish, the way you talk, saying you regret you are NPP — I will show you. It will be a showdown. I beg you; let it stop today.”

Wontumi also reminded Agyapong about the potential consequences of his words, referencing tragic incidents from the past. He said he would have Agyapong arrested if he ever threatened him again, adding that he did not want to end up like Ahmed Hussein-Suale, the investigative journalist who was killed by gunmen in 2019.

Hussein-Suale was a member of Tiger Eye PI, a team led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which exposed corruption in various sectors of society. Agyapong had publicly revealed Hussein-Suale’s identity on National TV. Weeks after, he was murdered in cold blood. His alleged killers are yet to be arrested or prosecuted.

“Because if not and you threaten me again, I will have you arrested. This is the advice I give to you. Because you have done this same thing so much that Ahmed Suale and others are no longer alive. So do not do that going forward,” he said.

The Chairman called for a shift in the discourse, emphasizing the importance of constructive dialogue. He advised Agyapong to apologise to the party members and polling station executives he had insulted, and to watch his steps carefully ahead of the primaries.

“I am not saying I want you to lose, but the things you say, insulting party members and polling station agents, if you will apologise to them and watch your steps well , it could be beneficial to you.

“And if you believe in yourself so much, say what you can do. We have exactly one month to the November 4th elections. I will conclude with Ezekiel chapter 18:22, it says if a sinner will leave his sinful ways and take the ways of the Lord, he shall be saved. So we are left with one month,” he said.

The backdrop of this verbal exchange stems from Kennedy Agyapong’s accusations against Vice President Dr. Bawumia and Chairman Wontumi.

At a recent rally in Kumasi, Agyapong accused them of undermining the NPP, asserting that their actions could lead to the party’s collapse. Agyapong’s scathing remarks included accusations that Wontumi insulted elderly individuals on his television station and abandoned his initial support for Alan to back Bawumia.

The MP warned that such actions could destabilise the party and pledged to confront any attempts to sabotage the NPP. The ongoing internal strife within the NPP underscores the challenges faced by the party as the November 4th elections draw near.

  • Do not threaten me again, I don’t want to be like Ahmed Suale – Wontumi warns Kennedy Agyapong

In a fiery response to recent accusations by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, the outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central and aspiring NPP flagbearer, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Chairman Wontumi has issued a stern warning, urging Agyapong to desist from threats and inflammatory remarks.

He declared, “I am swearing today that I will not say anything against you and I will not say anything against the NPP. Everything I do is to bring development.”

  • Kennedy Agyapong: Hatred and lies will boomerang right back into your face

Lies and fabrications are like the poison potion of the witch that eventually dies forgetting that tasting the mix will have a similar effect on her as the person intended to kill.

By spewing all forms of defamatory statements and spreading falsehood against the NPP, a party you claim to want to lead, ostensibly to scorn the masses and embezzle what you seem to be embezzling now and stashing overseas, you are indirectly indicting yourself.

After all, your claims that the government is stealing and stashing money in foreign lands include you because you are everywhere looking for contracts and getting them, too. Enobe so!

Then you have no shame telling the fattest lie of the century that Bawumia had approached you with an offer to partner him as a running mate (vice president). I mean, what at all do you think of Dr. Bawumia? Tweaa, who would want to partner with a loudmouth egoist whose toxic effusions stink worse than nuclear waste? Nyame ho wo mɔbɔ, wate!

When you are blinded by hate, you tend not to see beyond the bridge of your awkward nose. Even the traders and all well-meaning people in Ashanti and elsewhere are snarling at you for the nonsense that has characterised your campaign. Now, I want to ask you a question, O Kennedy! Where are the factories and businesses that you claim employ over seven thousand Ghanaians? Is it not only the media facility and the factory that I am told you set up in your hometown that is defunct as of now?

Tell us because we are eager to thank you for employing so many people! Another question is relevant to your contracts: “Where did you stash the money you reaped from those? Unless you want to say that you did not get any job! Oh, poor you, maybe we ought to shove a pacifier in your mouth like the spoilt baby that continues to cry and poop, always wanting attention to clean its bottom and sweeten its mouth.

keyrε sε wo ne Alan Kyerematen mo yε pε! The only difference between you two, being both liars, is that you up the scale of your shenanigans by crying foul in a roguish and aggressive way while the afafranto Alan does it in an unwise and cowardly manner!

Let me tell you, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is an ace and master tactician. He has managed to arrest the deteriorating situation that was brought on by foreign reasons, and in all, at least has devised strategies to turn the economic fortunes of our country around under the able leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In politics, he has been trained well by the seasoned politicians around him. If you are around people like the President, Hon Chief of Staff, and former President J. A. Kufuor, you will learn more than enough to run this country for a whole millennium, but as for you, Kennedy, your loud uncouth manners destroy whatever lessons you learn from sensible politicians because you always exhibit senseless insensitivity to anyone who opposes your views.

Dr. Bawumia is a much more seasoned politician, much defter economist, much more diplomatic, and much more of a unifier than you can ever be, hence his refusal to descend into the gutter with you. Besides, he is also immeasurably more handsome than you! At least his demeanour, professionalism, polished tactics, and good looks will bring more benefit to Ghana than your angry face and roguish ways.

keyrε sε, the angry birds game seems to have been inspired by your repulsive penchant to poop where you eat! I used to love you for being an NPP, but now I dislike you for fighting your innocent own. Not until you sober down and fight a clean battle for the flagbearership of the NPP without losing your shame I will continue to criticize you. Ah, we have a President, who has done all that’s in his power to manage Ghana better than any other President has in our history.

Who has ever shown Ghanaians more empathy and love than Nana Addo especially when we were hit by COVID-19: the free light and free water? You were a beneficiary of his magnanimity, yet you shamelessly adopt an inimical stand against him, his Vice, and others all in the name of garnering votes for the upcoming November 4 NPP presidential primaries, oblivious to the fact that you created more enemies than admirers. The goodwill that you had hitherto enjoyed with delegates and grassroots has diminished like the overly shrunk scrotum you carry between your legs.

  • Kennedy Agyapong vows to boost Ashanti Region’s economy

Kennedy Agyapong, NPP flagbearer hopeful, aims to revitalize the Ashanti Region‘s economy by harnessing tourism and the automobile industry’s potential. He emphasizes these sectors’ potential to create jobs, especially for unemployed youth.

“We can build a ceramic factory in the Ashanti Region and the first ceramic factory would be built at the former KBL land,” he said.

“We don’t need to go and buy ceramic tiles from China when research has shown that the vast land from the Central Region to the Adansi area can do the trick. There will also be a collaboration between the Suame Magazine, and the School of Engineering at the KNUST and we will build a tractor assembling plant in Ashanti Region,” Agyapong said.

“Nobody talks about the rich Ashanti heritage. I am going to promote Ashanti culture with museums, parks and entertainment centres… I am going to expand Lake Bosomtwe to about a three-kilometer stretch and mount boats, affordable hotels for people to come and see”, he said.

Agyapong expressed these views during a Kumasi street walk on September 30. He urged party supporters to unite behind him, ensuring the party’s governance and turning the economic revival vision into reality.

“I am a man with vision, I am coming for you and that is why I have rejected offers to step down to become Bawumia’s running mate”, he alleged, adding: “Your vote is your power. Vote for Ken Agyapong and I know God will speak on 4 November.”

Kennedy Agyapong is facing Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Mampong MP Addai-Nimoh and Akoto Afriyie, the former agriculture minister ahead of the race.

  • Market women affiliated with NPP in Kumasi express anger towards Kennedy Agyapong for engaging in ethnic politics

Women in Kumasi Central Market have disputed comments made by NPP flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong about northerners potentially dominating the 2024 election if the NPP chooses Vice President Bawumia as its flagbearer.

Kennedy Agyapong, one of four remaining NPP candidates, was seen in a viral video lamenting that with former President Mahama, a northerner, already the NDC’s candidate and another northerner, the APC’s Hassan Ayariga, set to run in the 2024 elections, it would be an all-northern affair if the NPP chose Dr. Bawumia, charging that Ghanaian politics cannot be dominated by northerners.

These remarks have enraged NPP market women, who have flatly rejected Kennedy’s remarks.

“We have been observing what Kennedy has ben saying. The tribal comments he has been making. Recently he said during an interview abroad that Mahama is a northerner, and we should not elect Bawumia,” a spokesperson of the market women, surrounded by several of them told the media in Kumasi.

“He averred the NPP should elect an Akan but we want to tell him that the NPP is not for Akans. The NPP is a national party for all Ghanaians,”

“It is all about who is the best to lead, who is competent and who can do the job. For us in Kumasi Central Market we have been interacting with the people and what we are saying is that without Bawumia, we won’t vote. No Bawumia, no vote.”

“We are NPP people here in this market and we also want to break the 8. So we have consulted widely within us and from those who patronise our goods. Anyone you ask, they say Bawumia so we are sending a special appeal to the kingmakers to elect Bawumia,” said the spokesperson, as the market women cheered her in a video.

  • My supporters in Ashanti Region will side with Alan if I lose primaries – Kennedy Agyapong

A hopeful candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Kennedy Agyapong, has emphasized the importance of unity within the party, suggesting that the NPP could lose support in the Ashanti region if he loses in the upcoming November 4 primaries.

Agyapong expressed his belief that some NPP members underestimate the significance of Alan Kyerematen to the party.

Contrary to this perception, Agyapong argued that Mr Kyerematen is not only important to the party but also to the entire country.

He further asserted that if he were to lose in the primaries, strong NPP supporters in the Ashanti region would likely vote for Alan Kyerematen.

During his Showdown walk in the Ashanti Region, Mr Agyapong appealed to NPP delegates to vote for him as the party’s flagbearer, with the aim of leading the party to victory in the 2024 elections.

He stated, “whether you like it or not, if you don’t vote for Ken Agyapong, all the traditional Ashantis will vote for Alan. All of them will vote for Alan. Those who are insulting Alan, those who think Alan is not relevant. Think Alan is not relevant in Ashanti Region. If Alan is not relevant in NPP, Alan is relevant in Ghana here”.

Alan Kyerematen had previously withdrawn from the NPP flagbearer race and resigned from the party to run as an independent candidate.

This decision left four contenders in the NPP presidential race: Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Owusu Akoto Afriyie, and Francis Addai-Nimoh. The NPP presidential primaries are scheduled for November 4, 2023.

  • Self-destruction as Kennedy Agyapong ‘destroys’ the NPP again

Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament and a contender for the flagbearer position in Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been making allegations and criticisms that some view as potentially damaging to his own party. Agyapong has accused the NPP of widespread corruption, suggesting that party members are engaged in looting public funds and stashing them abroad.

These accusations, while aimed at the NPP leadership, can also be seen as potentially undermining the party’s image and credibility.

“The way the NPP is looting this country, you will think there is no tomorrow. You steal all this money and stash same abroad, what do you mean?” he is heard stating in a video clip that has been shared widely on social media.

“The youth of this country are not working yet you are intimidating people. I will put my life on the line and defend them,” he stressed.

Furthermore, Agyapong has not shied away from criticizing the internal dynamics of the NPP. He has claimed that the National Council of the NPP, the party’s key decision-making body, has been compromised and turned into a rogue entity by certain regional chairmen. Specifically, he has singled out figures like Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, and accused him of employing disruptive tactics.

In the lead-up to the NPP’s flagbearer selection process, Agyapong’s criticisms and allegations could be seen as contributing to internal divisions within the party. These divisions may potentially weaken the NPP’s unity and cohesion as it prepares to choose its leader and face upcoming elections.

It’s essential to note that these statements and allegations by Kennedy Agyapong are viewed by some as harmful to the NPP’s image and unity, and their impact on the party’s internal dynamics and electoral prospects will depend on how party members and leadership respond to these challenges.

  • NPP govt is robbing Ghana as if there’s no tomorrow – Kennedy Agyapong

Presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has accused the party and the current government of robbing Ghanaians by stealing money from the state coffers.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament levelled the strong allegation against the government in a viral video circulating on social media. It is believed that he was addressing some individuals ahead of the NPP Primaries slated for November 4.

According to Mr Kennedy Agyapong, the rate at which the government is allegedly stealing the country’s resources and squandering them abroad is of concern.

“The NPP is looting this country like there is no tomorrow. You steal the money and go spend it abroad. Why do you mean?” he quizzed angrily.

He noted that such activities have inured to the benefit of the culprits and left the Ghanaian youth jobless with no way of earning a living.

“The youth of this country are not working. And now you are intimidating people,” he said, adding that “I’ll put my life on the line (and be president).”

  • Kennedy Agyapong accuses NPP of looting money and stashing it abroad

Kennedy Agyapong has made explicit allegations of corruption within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He asserts that the scale of embezzlement is highly alarming, suggesting that the misappropriated funds are being concealed overseas.

“The way the NPP is looting this country, you will think there is no tomorrow.

You steal all this money and stash it abroad; what do you mean?” he is heard stating in a video clip that has been shared widely on social media.

“The youth of this country are not working yet, and you are intimidating people. I will put my life on the line and defend them,” he stressed.

According to GhanaWeb’s investigation, he made these remarks during his campaign trip in the United States leading up to the NPP’s flagbearership contest on November 4.

Agyapong, who is a Member of Parliament and an aspirant for the NPP’s flagbearer position, has been vocal about his concerns regarding the party’s direction.

He has claimed that the NPP is on a path of self-destruction, with individuals in power exerting undue influence. Additionally, he has alleged that certain regional chairmen have turned the National Council, the party’s largest decision-making body, into a renegade entity.

“Alan is being insulted on Wontumi’s station. Wontumi is just a small boy; he is a small boy. It is sad that Wontumi and five chairmen—from the northern region, Volta Region—have turned the National Council into a hooliganism group,” he added.

Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders, including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party.

  • Netizens slam Ken Agyapong over 6-month military national service plan

Twitter users are criticizing Member of Parliament for Assin Central and NPP presidential aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, for his proposal to implement a mandatory 6-month military national service program.

According to social media users, Agyapong’s suggestion is seen as impractical and counterproductive, as it may alienate young people rather than garner their support.

During a recent interview, the NPP flagbearer floated the idea of a new national service program that would involve military training. He argued that the youth exhibit too much indiscipline, and compulsory military training for all could be advantageous for the country.

“Because of indiscipline in Ghana, every national service person and every university graduate will undergo six-month military training,” he said.

Responding to his statement on Twitter, some young Ghanaians collectively expressed their strong opposition to the proposal while others thought it was a brilliant idea.

The campaign team of the Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong, has initiated outreach to both Alan Kyerematen and his loyal supporters with the aim of securing their votes in the upcoming delegate’s congress scheduled for November 4th.

The campaign team asserts that the decision by Mr. Kyerematen to withdraw from the race and subsequently resign from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should be regarded as indicative of underlying issues and tensions within the party.

In a press conference held in Accra, one of the members of the Ken for President Campaign Team, Sammy Crabbe, emphasized the importance of this moment and encouraged supporters of Alan Kyerematen to consider casting their votes in favor of Kennedy Agyapong as a potential solution or alternative in light of the perceived discord within the party.

“Politics is about numbers, and we count numbers at the end of the day to win. So of course it should concern us, it should concern Ken as the flagbearer going into December 2024. We must try as much as possible to organise everyone. If you join Alan’s and Ken’s votes together, Bawumia will be defeated.”

“That is what it is. So all that it is that there will be no need for a second round, we are going to win in the first round and we shall defeat the vice president. That is what we are going to do,” he stated.

  • Kennedy Agyapong will resign and go independent – NDC’s Kwadwo Danquah

A member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communication team, Kwadwo Danquah, has asserted that Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong will part ways with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the party’s presidential primaries.

Mr Kyerematen announced his resignation when he addressed the country during a press conference at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra today, September 25, 2023.

He noted that he no longer recognizes the NPP, which has been unfair to himself and his supporters, as its current aims and agenda no longer reflect what the founding fathers had hoped to achieve.

According to the former Trade Minister, he will contest for the office of president as an independent candidate in 2024 with his new party, Movement for Change.

Mr Kyerematen first resigned from the party in 2008 following alleged attacks on his supporters after the NPP held its 2007 presidential primaries.

Reacting to his resignation, the NPP has expressed disappointment over Mr Kyerematen’s inability to inform its leadership of his decision before going public.

In response, Mr Kyerematen said he found no reason to, as he is able to decide for himself.

Mr Kyerematen has been an active member of the NPP following its establishment in 1992.

He was part of a group of young dynamic Business Executives and Professionals
came together to establish the Young Executives Forum (YEF) that became the
financial backbone of the Party and provided significant financial resources to support the Party in all its endeavours, including the seed fund for the purchase of the Party’s first national headquarters building.

  • “I am still on good terms with Bawumia” – Kennedy Agyapong

“I am still on good terms with Bawumia” – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a prominent flagbearer aspirant within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed details on his current relationship with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Amidst speculations of a tensions between the two politicians, Agyapong asserted that he remains on good terms with the Vice President.

In recent months, political circles have buzzed with conjecture about the state of relations between Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. Both influential figures within the NPP, they find themselves in a tussle for the same position within the party. Agyapong has not been one to shy away from expressing his views in the media, often taking potshots at the Vice President. He recently stirred controversy by suggesting that Bawumia might possess knowledge about the whereabouts of the murderer of Ahmed Suale, a prominent investigative journalist who was killed in 2019.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Agyapong, in an interview on Kessben TV, disclosed that he and Vice President Bawumia had maintained a line of communication, dispelling rumours of bad blood between them.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament revealed that their most recent conversation occurred shortly after his infamous ‘showdown’ outburst during the August 26 NPP superdelegates conference.

Agyapong went on to credit Sammy Awuku, a former National Organizer of the NPP and a key figure in the Bawumia campaign for the party’s flagbearership, for facilitating the conversation. He commended Awuku as a levelheaded individual within the party and expressed personal fondness for him.

“I am still on good terms with him (Bawumia), one of his aides, who is very sensible is Sammy Awuku. He is a young boy who knows his onions. Because of our relationship, whenever anything happens, he comes to me to resolve the issues,” Agyapong stated during the interview.

He further elaborated on the circumstances surrounding their conversation, stating, “After my showdown outburst, Sammy Awuku called the Vice President, and we spoke. I explained matters to him.”

Agyapong used the opportunity to address the misperceptions surrounding their relationship, stating, “Isn’t it the case that today Bawumia makes jest of showdown? His vile followers are the problem; they don’t even know that I talk to him.”

The revelation of ongoing communication between Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President Bawumia offers a different perspective on the dynamics within the NPP, raising questions about the accuracy of prior assumptions regarding their relationship.

“Bawumia’s followers are the problem, they don’t know I talk to him” – Kennedy Agyapong clarifies relationship with Veep

Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has shed light on his recent communication with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, dispelling speculations of a strained relationship between them.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central said contrary to what many may think, he maintains an amicable rapport with the Vice President.

In a recent interview on Kessben TV, Agyapong disclosed that he last spoke to Vice President Bawumia shortly after his widely publicized ‘showdown’ outburst during the NPP super delegates conference on August 26. The phone call, he revealed, was facilitated by Sammy Awuku, a former National Organizer of the NPP and a key figure in the Bawumia campaign for the party’s flagbearership.

Agyapong commended Sammy Awuku as one of the party’s level-headed young leaders whom he personally admires. He emphasized that Awuku often plays a crucial role in addressing and resolving issues when they arise.

“I am still on good terms with him (Bawumia), one of his aides, who is very sensible, is Sammy Awuku. He is a young boy who knows his onions. Because of our relationship, whenever anything happens, he comes to me to resolve the issues,” Agyapong remarked.

Reflecting on his “showdown” incident, Agyapong clarified, “After my showdown outburst, Sammy Awuku called the Vice President, and we spoke. I explained matters to him.”

Addressing perceptions of discord between himself and the Vice President, Agyapong attributed any misconceptions to Bawumia’s zealous followers who may not be aware of their ongoing communication.

“Isn’t it the case that today Bawumia makes jest of showdown? His vile followers are the problem; they don’t even know that I talk to him,” Agyapong concluded.

Kennedy Agyapong comments come at a time when questions have arisen regarding his relationship with Vice President Bawumia, given their simultaneous aspirations for the NPP flagbearer position.

Agyapong’s recent vocal criticisms of the Vice President, including insinuations about his knowledge of the whereabouts of the murderer of Ahmed Suale, have further fuelled speculations about tensions within the party.

  • Okay FM journalists laugh at Kennedy Agyapong

Okay FM journalists laugh at Kennedy Agyapong

Two female journalists on Okay FM have ridiculed presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, ahead of the party’s presidential primaries slated for November 4.

They are stunned by some recent comments made by the Assin Central MP against Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, one of the presidential aspirants.

Mr Kennedy Agyapong made a bold statement over the murder of Tiger Eye investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

He noted that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should know the person responsible for the killing of the journalist, rejecting assertions of any involvement in the crime. Mr Agyapong made this known during an interview on Kessben TV on Monday, September 18, 2023.

“Those who wrote the 10 sins (of Ken Agyapong) in support of Bawumia, he (Bawumia) is the vice president, he is the head of the police council, they know the killers of Ahmed Suale, why have they not spoken out? And they are coming to blame me for it,” he is quoted to have said.

This comment, according to two of Okay FM’s journalists, is propaganda in nature. According to them, such an information should have been disclosed earlier, as Ahmed Suale was killed four years ago.

In 2021, Mr Agyapong noted that a person named Ansu Gyeabour, residing in Kumasi, is the alleged perpetrator in the Ahmed Suale murder case. He claimed to have received this information from the police, who assured him of his innocence in the matter.

The journalists also made a mockery of his “showdown” comment made when the party held its Super Delegates Conference. He made the comment while reacting to allegation of agent suppression by the government.

  • Alleged: Kennedy Agyapong names Ahmed Suale’s killer

Alleged: Kennedy Agyapong names Ahmed Suale’s killer

Kennedy Agyapong has identified an individual whom he alleges to be responsible for the tragic killing of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, a former member of the Tiger Eye PI team.

According to the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, he believes that a person named Ansu Gyeabour, residing in Kumasi, is the alleged perpetrator in this case. He claims to have received this information from the police, who assured him of his innocence in the matter.

“Why is it that when someone kills a police, within three days, the person is caught? When a Ghanaian kills another citizen who is not a police personnel or part of the security agencies, the person is never arrested. Why? That is why I am saying that when I go, my Committee [Committee on Defense in Parliament] will invite the minister.

“And I have a typical example of Ahmed Suale when I condemned Anas, the person who killed him is in the Ashanti region. The police briefed me themselves that I am exonerated and that they don’t know why this thing happened and that I should stay away but I insisted, ‘how do I stay away when Anas, that thief, that murderer mentioned my name to the extent that a Congressman reported me so much that when I got to Houston in 2019 November, I was stopped that I had killed Ahmed Suale’.

“And then today, you have the report, you know. And the most painful aspect is that they told me that I should have patience and that the guy [suspected killer], whose name is Ansu Gyeabour – today, you are privileged, you are the first because it enrages me. I say he is in Kumasi. Yes! Yes! Ansu Gyeabour, and the police have shown me his pictures, asking me to be patient, for over one year yet my name is out there,” he explained.

He made this revelation in 2021 during an interview on Adinkra TV. The two-year-old footage has resurfaced after the Assin Central MP urged Ghanaian to seek answers from Vice President Bawumia due to his authority in the Police Service.

Since the unfortunate killing of Ahmed Suale in January 2019, Kennedy Agyapong has been linked to the incident. This connection stems from his prior mention of Ahmed’s name as one of the individuals collaborating with Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the celebrated undercover investigative journalist.

Notably, Ahmed had recently worked with the BBC on the renowned exposé titled “Number 12: When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm.”

Ahmed Suale’s tragic death occurred near his family residence in Accra. According to reports, tensions escalated after Tiger Eye’s latest investigative report, which unveiled widespread corruption in African football. Kennedy Agyapong openly expressed his hostility toward the team, objecting to their undercover methods and even calling for Anas to be punished publicly.

In the aftermath of the documentary’s screening, Kennedy Agyapong used his own television station to target Hussein-Suale, revealing the journalist’s previously undisclosed identity.

“That’s him,” said Agyapong, as images of Hussein-Suale appeared on the screen. “His other picture is there as well, make it big.”

Agyapong revealed Hussein-Suale’s name and the neighbourhood he lived in. “If you meet him somewhere, slap him… beat him,” he said. “Whatever happens, I’ll pay.”

  • You tried to collapse the church but now you want our votes – Popular pastor to Kennedy Agyapong

You tried to collapse the church but now you want our votes – Popular pastor to Kennedy Agyapong

Apostle Agyenim Boateng of the Peniel Outreach Ministries International has expressed his opposition to the possibility of Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, becoming the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate. The pastor’s objections stem from Agyapong’s past actions, particularly his criticism of the Church during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Agyenim Boateng emphasized that Agyapong’s public criticism of the Church, including statements where he suggested that he would “collapse all one-man churches in Ghana” if he were president, disqualifies him from being considered as the NPP’s flagbearer.

The pastor urged NPP delegates to carefully consider their choice for the presidential candidate, and he firmly asserted that only Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia can secure victory for the party in the upcoming elections scheduled for December 2024.

It’s important to note that these are the opinions and views of Apostle Agyenim Boateng, and the final decision on the NPP’s presidential candidate will be made through the party’s internal processes, including their election slated for November 4, 2023. Agyapong is one of several contenders for the flagbearership slot within the NPP, which includes Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Addiah Nimoh.

‘Tone down’ – Nana Akomea tells Kennedy Agyapong over Ahmed Suale allegation against Bawumia

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of State Transport Company of Ghana, Nana Akomea, has urged presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, to be temperate in his utterances that pertain to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

His appeal comes after the Assin Central MP made a bold statement over the murder of Tiger Eye investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

This comment, according to Nana Akomea, who is also a part of the Bawumia campaign team, does not augur well with the ongoing investigations into the matter.

He noted that the death of Ahmed Suale is of national concern and must not be driven by propaganda.

“We all have to tone down. We are one party. Ken was saying the police know the intricacies of the issue and have not made it public. If he says it that way, it makes sense so we all ask if you are aware of this and Ken has been implicated, why has nothing been said.

But to bring Bawumia into the picture, all the good questions we need to ask the Police will now be about something else.”

However, he noted that probing must be done into the statement made by Mr Agyepong to ensure the truth about the matter comes to light.

“If indeed the police has spoken to him, we need to ask the police and find out the needed information and why nothing is being done,” he said.

  • Ghana Gas denies allegations of discrepancies within the organization

Ghana Gas denies allegations of discrepancies within the organization

The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has refuted reports of purported misconduct within the state-owned organization.

This response follows a publication in the Herald Newspaper, which alleged that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was informed about the misconduct but hesitated to act due to concerns regarding the Board Chair of Ghana Gas, Kennedy Agyapong.

In a statement, Ghana Gas categorically rejected these allegations, denouncing them as entirely untrue, malicious, and lacking in basis.

“Indeed, there is not scintilla of evidence to back the story,” the statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah Bonsu.

“There has never been any rot associated with our operations before at Ghana Gas we find it very unusual for a journalist outlet to throw away the cardinal journalist standard of fairness and the responsibility to tell the truth as it engages in news reporting,” the statement added.

The Ghana Gas also reaffirmed its dedication to conducting all of its business in a manner that adheres to the highest ethical standards.

  • Akufo-Addo reportedly shielding Ken Agyapong in rot at Ghana Gas

Akufo-Addo reportedly shielding Ken Agyapong in rot at Ghana Gas

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has been accused of failing to report on alleged dealings within the Ghana Gas Company presumably due to concerns that addressing them could lead to accusations of attempting to tarnish the image of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

A report by The Herald, suggests that the organization is grappling with various issues, including contentious procurement deals.

There is mounting speculation that a future government may find it imperative to initiate a comprehensive investigation into this state-owned enterprise, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Energy, helmed by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. Such an investigation would be necessary to gain a thorough understanding of the extent of the challenges plaguing the company.

The concerns laid out in the article revolve around the reluctance of both the government and the Bawumia camp to address issues related to the Ghana Gas Company, primarily due to apprehensions regarding potential legal repercussions and political consequences.

Within this context, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, known for his assertive and confrontational style, holds a prominent position. His use of bullying tactics, intimidation, political leverage, and aggressive attacks on opponents, including his private dealings with the state, have created a situation where many individuals tend to distance themselves from him.

Notably, there is a Contempt of Court case against Mr. Agyapong, initiated after he verbally abused and threatened a High Court Judge, Justice Amos Wuntah Wuni.

Despite this legal matter, both the government and the Bawumia camp have refrained from addressing it openly, potentially due to concerns that it could be construed as a political attack on Mr. Agyapong, who is actively vying for the NPP flagbearer position.

Additionally, Mr. Agyapong is facing disciplinary proceedings within the NPP following his summons based on accusations and threats he made against various individuals, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. These allegations were made in a viral video, and Mr. Agyapong has been subject to questioning by the party’s disciplinary committee. The party has committed to addressing these allegations transparently and fairly.

Furthermore, it has been suggested that the party leadership asked Mr. Agyapong to issue an apology to President Akufo-Addo for his earlier threat, but he reportedly declined.

The article highlights the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the timing of resolving the disciplinary issues involving Mr. Agyapong, especially with the upcoming presidential primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.

In summary, the article underscores the delicate political dynamics and legal matters surrounding Mr. Agyapong’s actions and the Ghana Gas Company, which have implications for both the government and the NPP.

  • NPP Primaries: Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign targets 70% victory

NPP Primaries: Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign targets 70% victory

Kennedy Agyapong‘s campaign team has anticipated a resounding victory in the forthcoming NPP presidential race set for November 4.

They highlight Mr. Agyapong’s steadfast dedication to guiding the governing party to secure victory in the 2024 general election.

During the ballot on Wednesday (September 13, 2023), the Assin Central MP secured the Number 1 slot. A spokesperson for the Kennedy Agyapong Campaign Team in the Ashanti Region, Lawyer William Kusi, confidently predicts a 70 percent win for the legislator.

“He [Kennedy Agyapong] picked the first position for the second time. It speaks volumes about the fact that he is the chosen one. What I see in simple terms is acceptance and approval. He is the people’s choice, and nothing will change that”, Kusi said.

“And so, the party should allow the process to go on smoothly and democratically because obviously we conduct a fair election, he will have more than 70 per cent. The signal is that the other candidates should just support his candidature”, he said.

The campaign to secure delegates’ endorsement for Mr. Agyapong’s candidacy is gaining momentum in the ruling party’s stronghold, marked by the launch of the ‘Showdown- Ken for Power Campaign’ in Suame.

Nana Boadu, the chairman of the group, stated, “We believe Ken Agyapong can rescue this country, and we fully support this vision. As executives, we are committed to mobilizing the delegates to vote for him. We are dedicating our resources to assist Mr. Agyapong in winning this election, and we anticipate victory.”

In the race for the NPP presidential candidacy, the Assin Central MP faces competition from Vice President Dr. Bawumia, former Agric Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and former MP for Mampong Addai-Nimoh.

  • Ken Ofori-Atta allegedly begged Kennedy Agyapong to drop out of NPP race

Ken Ofori-Atta allegedly begged Kennedy Agyapong to drop out of NPP race

Deputy Ashanti Regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed that their candidate is facing intense pressure from some top party members and government officials to withdraw from the flagbearership contest.

Ohemeng Ian Moore Ian Moore, said in an interview on Akoma FM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, that some of the people who have been pleading with Kennedy to step aside allegedly include his close contenders, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

He claimed that Ken Ofori-Atta called Kennedy at dawn to withdraw from the race

“Today, it is the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta that they have appointed to plead with Kennedy Agyapong to withdraw from the race, to make way for Bawumia. But I say, with Kennedy, before you think about something, he has already thought ahead of you. I am not joking, I am talking with all seriousness. They have now changed their strategy, and today it is the Finance Minister they are using, he boldly said.

“And our honourable Kennedy Agyapong told them to stop playing around. So I am telling everyone, Kennedy Agyapong will not withdraw today or tomorrow,” he recounted in Asante Twi dialect.

Ian Moore also claimed that, individuals in the Dr Bawumia campaign team who have asked Kennedy to withdraw have admitted that they may not win the 2024 general elections without his support.

“They are also saying that if Kennedy does not campaign for the NPP, Bawumia will lose the elections… If you know you can’t win without Kennedy, why are you treating him badly?” he added.

  • Why Bawumia phoned Ken Agyapong to apologise

Why Bawumia phoned Ken Agyapong to apologise

Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has personally reached out to the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, to apologise for any unfortunate incident that might have occurred during the recent super delegates’ election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This was revealed by campaign coordinator for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign and Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Sammi Awuku, during an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi Tv’s The Point of View on Monday night.

Mr Awuku, while touching on Dr Bawumia’s countenance, before, doing and after the party’s Super Delegates congress on August 26th 2023, said that he was present when Dr. Bawumia after the elections, spoke to Hon. Agyapong last week and listened to his concerns and grievances.

“Let me say, for instance, the Hon. Kennedy Agyapong like this. Last week, I was personally present when the Vice President spoke to him, to listen to Ken as well on some of the issues that he has raised, and he said that me and my team are very sorry for whatever might have happened, but we are also going to go a step further to assist the party in its investigation,” Awuku said.

This information is particularly critical because, during the delegates’ conference on August 26th, a viral video showed Hon. Agyapong screaming threats at the President and his Vice for allegedly asking for his polling agent to be sent away. Mr. Agyapong said he would give the two leaders a “showdown” in response to the said attacks on his agents during the elections.

“President Akufo-Addo, I will give you a showdown in this country, I swear to God. Vice President, I will give you a showdown for chasing my agent away. I swear to God. You will hear what will happen here. I swear to God, I will challenge President Akufo-Addo big time,” Mr Agyapong said in fury.

However following this and the ensuing response by party authorities to investigate the incident, Mr Awuku noted that Dr. Bawumia, who just wants peace to prevail, is deeply saddened by any incident that might have caused personal loss or damage to anyone because of the electoral process. He said that Dr Bawumia has, beyond contacting Mr Agyapong, has also reached out to his other colleagues who contested in the election.

“Dr. Bawumia is deeply saddened about any unfortunate incident that took place. And he believes that we don’t need to have anybody suffering personal loss or damage because of an electoral process. And it is something that he has also personally placed and reached out to his colleagues who contested in the process,” Mr Awuku added.

He also said that Dr. Bawumia and his team are willing to assist the party in any investigation and condemn any act of vandalism or violence that might have taken place.

“For almost everybody who has been mentioned, named, or suspected to have participated in anything that might have personally injured somebody, for our side, from the Dr. Bawumia side, we are willing to assist the party in any investigation, and we condemn any act of vandalism and any act that took place and any isolated reported incident,” he mentioned.

Awuku further explained the strategy and approach that Dr. Bawumia used to win the superdelegates’ election with 68.15% of the votes. He said that Dr. Bawumia personally interacted with almost all the 929 delegates who cast their ballots on August 26th. He also paid visits to over 70% of them and placed personal calls to some of them 48 hours before the election.

“Our strategy leading to August 26th was, first of all, to make sure we tick all the boxes. Make sure you have reached out to each and every single person who is likely to cast a vote. He also, in the run-up to August 26th, apart from having met the Members of Parliament as a group, having paid over 95% of these 137 Members of Parliament personal visits at home, Dr. Bawumia, 48 hours before the super delegates sat behind his phone and placed personal calls, the run-up to the get-out-the-vote on August 26th.”

He said that their target was to get 70% of the votes based on their polling and profiling, but they fell short by 1.85%. He said that they have done a review of their performance region by region and identified some areas for improvement.

“Our target, to be very honest with you, and I am going to be very honest with you on this show, we were expecting to get 70% based on all our polling, based on all our profiling ahead of August 26th. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the 70%, but we had 68.15%.So for us as a campaign team, my colleagues, both in the strategy and in the operations team, personally doing a review, region by region, and so far we have done 15 out of 16 regions, an analysis of what happened.”

He also commended the party’s Elections Committee for their supervision and good job in conducting a free and fair election.

The super delegates’ election was held on August 26th to select the presidential candidate of the NPP for the 2024 general elections. Dr. Bawumia emerged as the winner with 629 votes out of 929 valid votes cast. He was followed by Kennedy Agyapong with 132 votes representing 14.3%, Alan Kyerematen with 95 votes representing 10.29%, Owusu Afriyie Akoto 36 representing 4.1% and Francis Addai-Nimoh 9 votes.

The election was marred by some reports of violence, intimidation and bribery in some regions.

The NPP has set up a committee to investigate the allegations and complaints and take appropriate actions.

  • NPP primaries: Ken allegedly stopped voting on November 4

NPP primaries: Ken allegedly stopped voting on November 4

Deputy Ashanti Regional campaign coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong, Ohemeng Ian Moore, a hopeful flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has provided insights into the proceedings of a meeting where the candidates for the party’s presidential primaries were drawing lots for ballot positions.

During an interview on Akoma FM on Wednesday, September 7, 2023, Ian Moore revealed that it was Kennedy Agyapong who intervened to halt the drawing of lots for ballot positions in the November 4 primaries.

He further explained that Ken’s objection stemmed from the fact that numerous unresolved issues from the party’s Special Delegate Conference had surfaced.

“The balloting did not come off today (Wednesday). Ken Agyapong banged on the table and said nobody was doing any balloting. The other candidates followed him except for one who was still seated.

“He stopped it because we are going for an election, but they have failed to resolve the issues that came up during the Super Delegates Conference,” he said in Twi.

He continued, saying that another issue that rankled Ken and a few of the rivals was the party’s proposal to permit lawmakers and appointees of the executive to serve as agents in the congress on November 4.

“And you know, the other funny thing they said? They said MPs, ministers, and other government appointees could be agents for the candidates. This is the intimidation tactic they are trying to put in place. They want to use this to induce the people who come to vote.”

The National Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party has decided to postpone the scheduled balloting exercise for the prospective candidates in its November 4, 2023, flagbearer election.

As per the Committee’s spokesperson, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the meeting between the committee and the aspirants did not reach a conclusive resolution. The primary aim of the gathering was to conduct the ballot for candidate positions and address various challenges encountered in the process, but it did not proceed as intended.

Afeyo-Markin emphasized that the postponement became necessary due to the lack of an agreement on certain proposals put forth by some of the aspirants. However, he did not provide specific details regarding the nature of these proposals.

“The committee will issue its full report and, based on this, make the report known to the public after due consultations with stakeholders in the party,” he said.

Dated September 7, 2023, the statement unequivocally states that there are no plans for such a withdrawal, and Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, remains steadfast in his aspiration to lead the party.

The statement goes on to clarify that these rumors have surfaced in the wake of the withdrawal of one of the leading contenders in the race, former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen.

“Our attention has been drawn to a rumor making the rounds particularly on social media that Honourable Ken Ohene Agyapong will soon be announcing his withdrawal from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) Presidential primaries scheduled for November 4 this year. The rumor comes in the wake of the withdrawal of Honorable John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen from the race on Monday.

“We wish to state unequivocally that Honourable Ken Ohene Agyapong is committed to staying in the race, and at no point has he contemplated withdrawing from the contest,” the statement said.

“We wish to assure all our teeming supporters that the Ken Ohene Agyapong campaign team is putting in place all the necessary strategies to ensure a ‘Showdown’ come November 4,” it added.

Ultimately, the statement urged all to disregard rumours.

“We therefore call on the general public especially our teeming supporters and cherished delegates of the NPP to disregard the rumor and treat with utmost contempt any news or message that purports the withdrawal of Ken from the race,” it said.

A potential flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, reportedly received a request from the party’s leadership to apologize to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his threat to engage in a “showdown.”

The Assin Central Member of Parliament flatly declined the request when he stood before the party’s disciplinary committee, according to Me Man Nti host Adakabre Frimpong Manso of Neat FM.

“As a party you could not take a firm position to say Kwame Akompreko did this and that so this.

“He came before you and as elders you were asking him to go and beg the president. So if he goes to beg the president the party would not have any other initiative to take?

“Now you watch him tell it to your face that he won’t beg the president today or tomorrow. Is that not disgraceful to you?” he stated on the September 1 2023, edition of his show.

Amidst the fervor of the party’s Special Delegates Election on August 26, 2023, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a hopeful candidate for the flagbearer position, was captured on video launching a vehement verbal attack aimed at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also in contention for the flagbearer role.

Kennedy Agyapong’s outburst stemmed from allegations of threats and intimidation against his campaign representatives, leading him to issue a stern warning of a potential “showdown” with the President and Vice President.

Following this incident, he was summoned and subjected to a comprehensive five-hour inquiry by the party’s disciplinary committee.

As of now, the party has not disclosed any details of the outcome of the meeting to the public.

In the meantime, the NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, as the date for its national delegates congress, during which they will select their flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

IGP told me to shut up 3 times – Kennedy Agyapong’s agent

Polling agent of Honourable Kennedy Ayapong in the North East region, Humudeen Sayed, popularly known as Hajia Ken, has revealed how the IGP, Akuffo Dampare, allegedly shut her down on Saturday, August 24th.

This was after she tried to dispute the account of the North East police commander about events that led to electoral disturbances at the Nalerigu polling centre during the NPP Super Delegates Conference.

During a press conference, organised on Monday, August 28, by the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential aspirant and Assin North MP, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, to address the public on reports of threats, intimidation and assault during the electoral process.

After trying to draw the attention of some electoral officials and police officers, which proved futile, Hajia Ken stated that she resorted to raising an alarm after she observed some electoral irregularities and malpractice happening at the polling centre and dining hall of Nalerigu Senior High School.

According to her, a TV3 reporter walked up to her to grant her an interview.

Before the interview could happen, a group of men approached her and pushed her to the ground, questioning her status and asking if she knew where she was.

Subsequently, her campaign manager, Kwame Owusu, held a conference call with the North East Police commander, Shaibu and the IGP, Akuffo Dampare.

According to Hajia Ken, Commander Shaibu was giving a contradictory account of the happenings at the polling station. In her bid to draw the IGP’s attention to the commander’s supposed ‘lies’ the IGP allegedly shut her down consequentially.

“Campaign manager held a conference call for myself, the IGP and the police commander, which makes us four. The police commander began giving a wrong account of what was happening at the station, it was wrong, it wasn’t tallying.

He wasn’t giving the right information to IGP, so I interjected by screaming, No, that’s not true, that’s not true, three times”.
“Then the IGP, in turn, shut me up three times, ordering the campaign manager to take me off the line”, she said.

Meanwhile, a few hours into the election, a video of NPP presidential aspirant and Assin North MP, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, surfaced online, in which he was heard swearing to give President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia “a showdown.”

The NPP’s election on Saturday wass aimed at reducing the number of candidates in the party’s flagbearer contest from 10 to 5.
Kennedy Agyapong secured the second position with around 132 votes, trailing behind Vice President Bawumia, who garnered 629 votes out of a total of over 900 votes.

We wanted a Bawumia and Alan ticket, but now it is Bawumia and Kennedy – Wontumi

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has shown disinterest in the merger between Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen.

Prior to the just-ended Super Delegates Conference, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, subscribed to the idea of Mr Kyerematen being the running mate of Vice President Dr Bawumia.

But he has changed his stance following the results of the conference held on Saturday, August 16, 2023.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia won the super delegates conference held on Saturday, August 26th, with a total of 629 votes, representing 68.15% of the total valid votes.

Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong came in second with 132 votes, while former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen placed third with 95 votes.

According to Chairman Wontumi, the ability of Ken Agyapong to secure the second position, which many thought would be held by Alan Kyerematen makes him best suited to battle the National Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside the Vice President.

He said: “Kennedy is (an) asset and that’s why when I mentioned four people, I mention his name before mine. Everybody is an asset, but if Alan didn’t contest, we wouldn’t be here.

“Then we were talking about Bawumia-Alan but now that Kennedy is second, we are going to talk about Bawumia-Kennedy That is the truth.”

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, claims to have told Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, of his fate in the Super Delegates Conference even before voting began.

Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong came in second with 132 votes.

According to Mr Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, he had made Kennedy Agyapong aware of being ranked second before the race began.

“Kennedy, the time I was coming. I told him he will be second. I spoke to Kennedy today. He is my brother. I told him he will be second and to me, he is my brother and I will always say the truth,” he said.

Speaking to Good Evening Ghana’s host, Paul Adom-Otchere, Chairman Wontumi noted that the best decision for Kennedy Agyapong would have been for him to run as the Vice President’s running mate.

“He should have looked for running mate because Bawumia will beat him,” he said.
