Donald Trump won the Republican presidential caucuses in North Dakota on Monday. This adds to his previous wins as he heads into Super Tuesday.
The ex-president won the most votes at 12 caucus sites, beating former UN ambassador Nikki Haley. Trump has been winning a lot, but he lost one time on Sunday when Haley won in the District of Columbia.
The people running for president are focusing on Super Tuesday, when the results from 16 states will determine the biggest day for winning delegates in the primary. Trump and President Joe Biden, who is a Democrat, are doing really well in their races and are likely to win their nominations later this month.
In North Dakota, candidates can win delegates if they get at least 20 percent of the vote. If a candidate gets more than 60% of the votes, they get all 29 delegates from the state.
There were four people running for election, including Trump and Nikki Haley. The other people running for office, David Stuckenberg and Ryan Binkley, didn’t get much attention. Ryan Binkley stopped running for office.
In 2016, a person from North Dakota helped Trump get enough votes to become the Republican presidential nominee.

The person who used to be in charge of the money for the Trump Organization is likely to admit to lying under oath on Monday. This is about an investigation into how the company manages its money.
Allen Weisselberg, who used to be a close friend of Donald Trump for a long time, went to the Manhattan district attorney’s office very early on Monday morning. He should say if he is guilty or not later today.
Weisselberg said no to answering questions. Seth Rosenberg, a lawyer for Weisselberg, also refused to make a statement.

The new charges are really bad for Weisselberg, who is old and has health problems. Last month, a judge in New York found Weisselberg guilty of fraud in a case brought by the attorney general. Mr Trump recently sparked outrage when he suggested that he would “encourage” Russia to attack any NATO member that did not meet the alliance’s financial contribution target of 2% of their GDP.
In response, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg urged Mr Trump not to “undermine” the alliance’s collective security guarantee.

Trump hit with $370 million fine in fraud trial in New York
The future of Donald Trump’s family business could be decided on Friday when a judge in New York is expected to give a decision in his civil fraud trial.
The old president, his grown-up sons, and his company were found guilty of lying about the value of their assets to get more money from banks.
The lawyers want the judge to make Mr. Trump pay a large amount of money and limit his business activities in the state.
That is a huge amount of money, even for someone who is extremely rich. Legal experts told the BBC that a really big fine, along with a possible final decision that could greatly affect his real estate business, could really hurt Mr.
“He won’t just start being a working class person,” said Diana Florence, a former federal prosecutor. It will just be a big amount of money. His money will be much less.
The New York Attorney General Letitia James said that the Trumps should pay $370 million as a penalty for making money through fraud.
She figured out the total using three things: money Trump may have made from interest on loans by giving incorrect information about his assets; extra pay for Trump Organization workers involved in the plan; and money from two property deals that James claims were obtained dishonestly.
Judge Arthur Engoron will decide how much money will need to be paid when he gives his decision.
No matter how much it is, Mr. Trump would also have to pay interest every year on the fine. The interest would go back several years to when the alleged crimes happened. The 9% interest rate in New York means that Mr. Trump may have to pay a lot more money in addition to the penalty.
Mr Trump says he didn’t do anything wrong and that the banks actually made money from his investments, so there was no crime. He will ask for another trial, which would stop the decision until a higher court looks at the case.

The judge in New York State, Judge Merchan, will likely listen to their reasons on Thursday. He hasn’t shown any sign that he plans to cancel or postpone the trial.
Donald Trump recently went to court in New York for two civil cases. He argued with judges and claimed he was being unfairly treated because of his politics.
However, Trump has only been in court once for the hush money case. He appeared in person for his arraignment. At the hearing, he said only a few words, especially, “not guilty”.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg accused former president Mr. Trump of 34 serious crimes last March. It’s the first time a former president has been charged with crimes.
Stormy Daniels said that she and Mr. Trump had sex at a famous golf tournament in 2006. She also said that ten years later, Mr. Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, gave her $130,000 to not talk about the supposed meeting during Mr. Trump’s campaign for president.
Lawyers say that Mr. Trump told Mr. Cohen to make the payments, and then falsely wrote them down as business expenses when they were really payments to Mr. Cohen for hush money.
Usually, lying on business documents is a small crime.
Mr Bragg says he brought serious charges against Mr Trump because he believes Mr Trump tried to hide a second crime by committing fraud. He has not completely explained his theory about the second crime yet, but he mentioned last year that his office was thinking about a few possibilities.
Mr Bragg said that Mr Trump made false business records to hide illegal activities from voters during the 2016 election.
For months, no one knew if this trial would happen on time because Mr. Trump got three more criminal cases and had to go to court for other reasons.
There are four court cases against Mr. Trump and they are getting closer to trial. Trump is also busy campaigning for president at the same time.
Maybe the most important case, where he’s being prosecuted for trying to change the 2020 election results, was supposed to start in early March. This case might have delayed the hush-money case.

Trump backs daughter-in-law Lara Trump to lead Republican National Committee
Donald Trump, who used to be the President of the United States, is supporting his daughter-in-law to be in charge of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
MrTrump said he supports Lara Trump and Michael Whatley, who leads the North Carolina Republican party.
He supported on Monday because he was upset with the RNC’s leaders.
The group will choose a new leader if Ronna McDaniel, the current leader, leaves.
The news in the US says that Ms McDaniel might quit her job after the South Carolina Republican primary on February 24th.
The RNC raises money for the Republican party and works to get Republican voters to participate in elections.
MrTrump is the top candidate for the Republican party in this year’s election. His support will probably have an impact on RNC members.
On Monday evening, Mr. Trump said Mr. Whatley has done a great job in North Carolina and should be the next leader of the RNC.
He praised Mr Whatley’s devotion to making sure elections are fair and honest. Whatley has supported the former president’s false claims of cheating in the 2020 election before.
Mr Trump supports his daughter-in-law Lara Trump for the RNC co-chair position because he thinks she is very talented. She is married to his son Eric.
“Lara is really good at talking to people and works hard for everything that MAGA represents,” Mr.
Ms Trump has worked closely with the RNC before and is thought to be very good at raising money for the committee.
The party’s rules say that there must be one man and one woman in charge of the RNC.
The old president said he has also requested Chris LaCivita, the co-manager of his current presidential campaign, to become the RNC’s main person in charge of operations.
Politico said that if Mr. Lacivita takes the job, he will still be Mr. Trump’s co-campaign manager.
If Trump’s support were to happen, it would mean his campaign would be closely connected with the committee and how it works.
But sometimes his approval didn’t work. Mr Whaley did not win the position of co-chair in 2023, even though Mr Trump had supported him before.
There are problems between Mr. Trump and Ms. McDaniel about the Republican debates. This is why people want a new leader for the RNC. The ex-president said no to joining any of them.
The Washington Post reported that Mr. Trump wanted Ms. McDaniel to cancel the debates, but she said no.

The Supreme Court will decide if they will stop the ruling to let Mr.

MrRoman asked the judge to drop his legal charges, claiming that Ms. Willis benefited personally from their relationship. He also said the judge should not allow Ms Willis to continue prosecuting cases because she supposedly cheated the public by not telling about her relationship on purpose.
The lawyers claimed that the special prosecutor hired by Ms Willis was not very experienced, but still got paid about $650,000 in legal fees.

In this situation, the National Labor Relations Board asked for and got a special court order that made the company hire back seven workers at a store in Memphis. The company had treated the workers unfairly for being in a union, and the court said they had to hire them back.

It challenged the emergency order, called an injunction, and the lower court agreed with it.
