Numerous people injured in Russian missile attacks on Kyiv

Many people were hurt in a series of missile attacks on the city of Kyiv, Ukraine last night, according to officials.

Fifty-three people were injured in the attacks, including six kids, according to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The buildings for little kids and sick people got damaged because debris fell on them. Authorities said they stopped 10 Russian missiles from hitting their target.

The strikes happened after President Zelensky left the US.

He asked Congress to give more weapons to Ukraine, but most Republicans didn’t agree.

The leaders of the European Union will talk about giving more help to Ukraine on Thursday. Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, said it’s important to give Ukraine what it needs to be strong right now.

Mr Zelensky said he will do something about the attack that happened on Wednesday night. “Russia did something bad again by shooting missiles at night. They were aiming at homes, schools, and power plants during the winter,” he wrote on X.

Zelensky didn’t get much from his trip to the US because aid discussions reached a deadlock.

Ukraine’s Air Force said that an attack on Kyiv started at around 3:00 am. It was the second time this week that the capital was hit by a ballistic missile.

It said it had destroyed “all” 10 flying targets heading towards the city with anti-aircraft missiles.

The windows of the apartments were broken and the cars were damaged. There were big bangs before the warning sirens went off because of the missiles.

Russia started using cruise missiles again last week, officials said. They hadn’t used them for 79 days.

“Ballistics are used to make sure people can’t hide in bomb shelters,” Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, wrote on social media.

The Ukraine military said they found Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 missiles. These missiles are very fast and are used to defend against attacks from the air, but they can also be used to attack targets on the ground.

In Ukraine, the largest mobile network company wants to start working again on Wednesday. This comes after a big cyberattack, which seems to be the biggest one since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.

Tuesday’s attack on Kyivstar, the biggest mobile company in Ukraine, has put many people at risk of not getting warnings about air raids.

The city of Odesa was attacked by drones for a few hours during the night, according to a military leader in the region. Two men got hurt and some public things got broken.

The President of Ukraine came to Norway on Wednesday for a surprise visit to talk about getting help for his country’s defense.

He went there after visiting the US, where he tried really hard to get more military aid from Congress before the current amount runs out.

However, it seems that Mr. Zelensky’s efforts to convince Washington DC to release military aid have not been successful.

President Joe Biden told the Republicans that if they don’t give more weapons to Ukraine, it would help Russia and that’s not good.

Mr Zelensky said that he and Mr Biden decided to get more air defence systems for Ukraine because it’s really important.

“Ukraine needs every system and missile to protect our cities and people. ” “They are helping to keep people alive,” he said.

MrZelensky wants help before the European leaders meeting. Ukraine wants to start talking about joining the EU.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said again that the EU should not start discussions about joining. “The EU is going to make a big mistake and we need to stop it, even if 26 members want to go ahead with it,” said Mr. Orban on a local website called Mandiner.

“If we want to show our support to Ukraine and send a signal about their importance in the region, we can do that, but it doesn’t mean they will become a member. ”

Hungary has not always agreed with its European Union friends. It has reduced the punishment against Russia and last December stopped a deal to give Ukraine €18bn (£15. 5bn) in 2023

The EU is likely to release €10bn for Hungary on Wednesday, but some people say they are doing this to convince Mr Orban to be more helpful to Ukraine.

Ukraine is not just battling the enemy, but also fighting for Europe. When Ukraine becomes a part of our family, it will be their biggest win. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told the European Parliament that we have an important role to play.

However,Orban said to the Hungarian government on Wednesday that having Ukraine join the EU goes against what is best for Hungary.

Republicans criticise help despite Zelensky’s visit

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Washington DC to try and keep a $61 billion US defense package for Kyiv.

Republican members of Congress have stopped the aid package and say we need to do more to make the US-Mexico border stronger.

Zelensky will talk privately with different senators and the new House Speaker, Mike Johnson, to ask for help with his situation.

The president of Ukraine will meet with President Joe Biden, who wants US lawmakers to approve the money quickly.

The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, told the media that Ukrainians would be at great risk if Western countries did not keep helping them.

Russia attacked Ukraine without permission 22 months ago. The White House says they might stop giving money to Ukraine if an agreement isn’t made.

Ireland lowers assistance payments to refugees from Ukraine

Ireland will lower the amount of money given for welfare and only provide temporary housing for 90 days to new people coming from Ukraine.

The cost per week will go down to €38. 80 (£34) for Ukrainian people staying in state accommodation, from the current rate of €220 (£190) per week.

They will go back to getting more money for welfare when they leave these centers.

Parents of children who live in state accommodation will still get the full €140 (£120) child benefit payment every month.

The changes will be made at the beginning of next year. We will try harder to help Ukrainian people in the Republic find jobs.

People in Ukraine who receive welfare will be interviewed to see if there are jobs that they can do.

Ukrainian children can still go to local schools like before. There won’t be any secret schools in the new housing centers.

Opposition politicians criticized the idea of cutting welfare benefits.

Labour politician Ged Nash said the government did not make enough accommodation for refugees.

Richard Boyd Barrett, a member of People Before Profit, said the decision was a way to avoid taking responsibility for not fixing the housing crisis.

John Lannon, the leader of a charity that helps migrants called Doras, thinks that if Ukrainian refugees are only allowed to stay in a place for 90 days, it will make more people homeless.

He said on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland that it will make people very vulnerable and might make women, children, and men homeless.

A study of migration numbers from November found that almost 68,000 people came to Ireland from Ukraine between March and December 2022 under a rule from the EU.

As of December 2022, 87% of people given temporary protection were still living in the country.

  • Ukraine will suffer if US help is discontinued – Olena Zelenska

Ukraine will suffer if US help is discontinued – Olena Zelenska

Without important help from the US military, there is a big risk that Ukraine could eventually lose the war, even if not right away.

President Zelensky is in Washington to ask Congress to approve a $60 billion aid package. It’s been delayed because of a disagreement over US border security. He hopes to convince them to pass it.

On Sunday, the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, said that Ukraine is in serious danger and needs ongoing help from America to survive.

Western authorities told the BBC that they believe the US government will find a solution to the current problem. President Biden may achieve his goals, but people will still have concerns about the position of the US. During a year when a president is chosen, things will be even more unpredictable.

America has given the most military help to Ukraine, not Europe.

Europe is on its way to giving more economic help to Ukraine than the US. The US has a strong military support lead.

The Kiel Institute keeps track of how much support countries give. They say the US has given €44bn of military equipment. Germany, the biggest giver in Europe, has given €18 billion.

The US has been very important in helping Ukraine in its war and has also been the main organizer of that help.

Jack Watling from the Royal United Services Institute says it plainly: “Europe can’t replace what the US was giving. ”

He thinks Europe missed the chance to make more weapons and equipment in the last two years.

“He says there isn’t enough manufacturing capacity because European countries haven’t invested properly. ”

For instance, Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the European Union won’t be able to give Ukraine one million artillery shells by next March. Actually, it will only send Ukraine less than half of what it said it would. At this time, Ukraine needs at least 2. 4 million artillery shells each year to keep fighting in the war.

Most of the countries in Europe that are part of Nato still don’t spend the 2% of their national income on defense, as they were supposed to do nearly ten years ago.

This week, UK’s Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said that Europe needs to do more. He mentioned that aside from Ukraine, we can’t keep relying on the US to always help Europe.

Russia’s economy during a time of war

Compare how Europe reacted to Russia’s actions.

Russia has already changed its economy to focus on preparing for war. Western officials believe that almost 40% of Russia’s money will be spent on defense and security next year. This is more than what they will spend on health and education combined.

One year ago, Russia got around 40 Shahed attack drones from Iran. Now they think they are making about 300 each month.

By the end of 2022, Russia could only make about 40 big missiles every month. Now it is expected to be earning one hundred, even with sanctions from western countries.

It has increased how many artillery shells it makes, and got more from North Korea when its supply was running out.

However, Russia is still having a hard time replacing the equipment and people it has lost. Western officials think that Russia had around a thousand soldiers getting hurt or killed every day during November, just in their attack on Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine.

Tiredness from fighting in a war

A year ago, people in the West were hopeful because of the early successes of a Ukrainian counter attack. But now, that hope has mostly gone away.

Ukraine’s summer attack did not go as planned. It didn’t achieve its goal of breaking through Russia’s main defenses in the south.

Mr Watling thinks that the war will last a long time and that it will make people tired and change how they think about taking risks.

The Kiel Institute reported that the amount of new aid promised to Ukraine from August to October this year was the lowest it has been since January 2022. Out of 42 countries that give aid, only 20 have promised to give new aid packages during this time – which is almost 90% less than last year.

Most of the people who support Ukraine, at least when they say in public, say they are still determined.

However, some countries are having trouble providing as much military aid as before because they have used up a lot of their own supplies.

We don’t know yet how much help Ukraine will get from the Netherlands in the future, after Geert Wilders’ right-wing party did well in the election. The Dutch have been an important part of the group that said they would give Ukraine F-16 jets.

    The effect on future activities.

These questions about future aid supplies won’t have a quick effect on the battlefield.

One person in charge of the western side says it is unlikely that there will be any big progress from either side in the next few months. Russia and Ukraine are focused on defending themselves and using a lot of resources for attacking.

However, Ukraine may have to limit the amount of ammunition they use in the next few months. This could weaken their military forces even more.

Jake Sullivan, who works for the White House, told the New York Times that Ukraine’s ability to defend its airspace could be affected. He said that the US can’t send air defense systems to Ukraine anymore.

That alarm is being given because Russia is expected to start attacking important buildings and systems in Ukraine more often in the next few weeks.

Not being clear about getting help from the US military could cause another problem. Watling just got back from Ukraine, and he says that the uncertainty about aid is already making it hard for Ukraine to make plans.

He says the current problem in the US Congress is making it hard for Ukraine to figure out its next moves in battle and to get more support from the west.

  • Ukraine’s hopes for counter-offensive ‘didn’t come true’

    Ukraine’s hopes for counter-offensive ‘didn’t come true’

Ukraine tried to fight back, but it didn’t work out as planned, a top security official admitted.

But Oleksiy Danilov, who leads the country’s war team, said: “That doesn’t mean we won’t win. ”

Kyiv is working to get more help from Western countries, especially the US.

Mr Danilov thinks that some money for the military will definitely be approved.

In May, before the counter-attack, he said that the next few months would be a very important chance for us.

Thinking back on those words, he said: “In May, everyone in our country wanted the war to finish fast. ”

“There were expectations, but they were not met. ”

“We have been protecting our country for two years, which is a great accomplishment. ”

The Ukrainian forces wanted to regain the land that Russia took in February 2022 and stop Russia from getting supplies to Crimea.

However, they don’t have control of the air and are dealing with strong Russian defenses, so their progress has stopped as winter arrives.

Mr Danilov admitted that they had been too optimistic.

“Sometimes people make mistakes. ” “You can’t always be the best in class,” he said.

He said that the situation on the frontline is really hard and thinks that old war textbooks, even Nato ones, should be put away.

People are arguing about who is to blame for what happened in Ukraine recently. They are pointing fingers at outside allies and advisors or Ukraine’s own armed forces.

Mr Danilov didn’t want to say when a new attempt to take back territory could happen.

“I’m confident that we will keep going,” he said. “We will keep fighting for our freedom and independence. ”

Ukraine is focusing on making its defense stronger for the coming winter.

Russia is trying to surround the town of Avdiivka and gain full control of the nearby town of Marinka in the Donetsk region.

Delay in US aid is not a tragedy.

Mr Danilov was very sure that the US would agree to help with Ukraine’s defense, even though he didn’t say exactly how much money Ukraine might receive.

A $60 billion plan is caught up in politics within our country, and there’s not much time left before Congress takes a break for Christmas.

Some US Republican lawmakers are unsure about sending more money.

“If we get a present before Christmas, we will be happy. ”

He said, “If it happens later, it shouldn’t be made into a big problem. ”

When he was asked if Ukraine would lose the war if the US stopped giving them help, he said he didn’t want to think about that possibility. He believes that they have the truth on their side.

Will Putin hurt us in front of everyone. Will he harm our children, women, and elderly men. And will the whole world just ignore it.

So, the question is, what kind of world do we live in.

MrDanilov said there is no tension between President Zelensky and Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Valeriy Zaluzhny.

“I don’t believe the things the media is saying are true. “

A group of five vehicles from Peterborough, including two old ambulances, brought supplies to families in Ukraine where there is a war.

People from Peterborough and nearby towns gave medical supplies, warm clothes, blankets, food that doesn’t go bad, and toys to Kyiv.

Maxine Drake from Peterborough City Hospital took time off to join the team on a 3,000-mile trip.

She said it was a “hard few days”.

During their six-day trip, the team also gave presents to Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Most of the refugees are women and children whose husbands and fathers either died in Ukraine or are still there.

Ms Drake works at the hospital and also helps out at Peterborough Soup Kitchen in her free time.

“It was a hard few days, but the group worked well together – most of us hadn’t met before but we tried to help those affected by the war,” Ms Drake said.

“I’ve never done this before, but I’m excited to do something similar next year. “

Putin intends to run for fifth term as president of Russia

Media reports say that Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced he will run for a fifth term in office.

Russian authorities said that he talked about what he wanted to do during a meeting with people who are involved in the war in Ukraine.

It comes the day after officials picked 15-17 March 2024 as the days for the presidential election.

It is very likely that Mr Putin will be elected again because there is almost no one opposing him and he controls the Russian media completely.

He has been ruling Russia for a long time, longer than anyone since Josef Stalin. If he gets another term, he will stay as president until at least 2030.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, said that a lot of people want Putin to keep leading, but it’s up to him when he announces his decision.

Four Russian soldiers accused of war crimes by US

Four Russian soldiers are being accused of doing very bad things during a war, by taking and hurting a person from the United States who was living in Ukraine. Officials have said this.

US lawyers say the American person lived in Ukraine since 2021 and did not fight in the war.

He was kept for 10 days in April 2022, and people say he was made to think he was going to be killed and was hit.

This is the first time that the US has accused someone of breaking its law against war crimes.

On Wednesday morning, Attorney General Merrick Garland said they were charging people for the illegal war in Ukraine. This is an important step towards holding them accountable.

Russian “traitor” ex-MP killed in Russia – Ukraine

Former member of Ukrainian Parliament, Illya Kyva, was killed in Russia by Ukraine’s security service, SBU, according to law enforcement sources who told the media.

According to sources, the criminal was shot with a small gun and killed.

Russian investigators said they found his body outside Moscow.

Earlier this year, Kyva was sentenced to 14 years in jail for betraying his country and asking for Ukraine to be taken over. He ran away from Ukraine and was found guilty when he wasn’t there.

Many Ukrainian news sources said that their sources claimed the SBU was responsible for killing the 46-year-old former lawmaker.

“Yes, Kyva is gone” Other Ukrainian traitors and puppets of Putin’s government will face the same destiny. Andriy Yusov, who speaks for Ukraine’s military intelligence, said this on Ukrainian TV.

Russia’s law enforcement agency said that initial information suggests that Kyva was killed by a gunshot in a village near Moscow called Suponevo. A crime investigation is happening now.

Kyva tried to become the president of Ukraine in 2019 but did not win. He then left the country just one month before Russia started a big attack in February 2022.

He was often on TV shows in Russia that try to persuade people to believe certain things.

He was planning to ask to live in Russia because he was in trouble in his own country.

In other news, a politician named Oleg Popov, who was supported by Russia, was killed by a bomb in his car in the city of Luhansk in Ukraine. This happened on Wednesday, according to local officials.

Russia has taken control of most of the Luhansk region. Ukraine has not said anything about the attack.

He died a few weeks after another politician from Luhansk was also killed in an attack that was claimed by Kyiv.

Since Russia invaded, the SBU and military intelligence have said they carried out successful missions against important targets in the areas Russia took over and in Russia.

The bridge connecting Crimea to Russia has been attacked many times, causing a lot of damage.

Last week, the SBU destroyed a railway in Russia’s Far East near China’s border that was an important transportation center.

  • Winning second term is about stopping Trump – Biden

Winning second term is about stopping Trump – Biden

Since the war started in February 2022, the US Congress has agreed to give more than $110 billion in military and economic help to Ukraine. The Biden administration has been saying for months that most of the money has already been given out.

Frederick Kagan, who works at the American Enterprise Institute and used to teach at the US Military Academy, says that the delays in funding are causing actual problems for Ukraine in the war. The plan to fight back against Russia is being reduced and there is uncertainty about future actions to get back the land that has been lost.

“He said that the people from Ukraine have to make a difficult decision here. ” “If they don’t think they’ll get more from the United States, then they need to save what they already have. ”

He said that the Ukrainian military needs tanks, vehicles, planes, drones, and long-range weapons. The US is the only country that can give them these things quickly and in the amounts they need in the next year.

Both Republicans and Democrats in Congress still mostly agree on giving more help to Ukraine, even if it’s not as much as the White House wanted. Converting the approval from Congress into laws that the president can approve has been very difficult.

The Republican and Democratic senators in the US are talking about a big $106 billion spending plan. It will help Ukraine and give military help to Israel and Taiwan. It will also give more money for security at the US-Mexico border.

However, it is this part of the package that has caused the most political upset. Democrats are hesitating to agree to new immigration rules. These changes include how people seeking asylum at the border are handled and making it harder to qualify to enter the US.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas said on TV that if we give more money to Ukraine, they have to make big changes to their border rules.

Chuck Schumer says he will try to pass a bill for military aid this week, but it’s not clear if enough Republicans will vote for it without agreeing on immigration issues.

The US media says that there was a big argument on Tuesday at a secret meeting about the help the Biden administration is giving. Senate Republicans said Democrats are not listening to their request for money to keep the border safe.

Even if the Senate approves aid to Ukraine, it’s not clear if the House of Representatives will also approve it. Speaker Johnson said he’s for giving Ukraine more money, but he voted with 117 other Republicans to stop $300 million in extra help for Ukraine.

If he brings a large aid package for a vote in the Senate and relies on Democrats to pass it, he could split the Republicans and risk losing power before budget negotiations next year.
A lady walks past a picture of a Ukrainian soldier shooting a Javelin anti-tank missile made in the US.

“The United States is expected to have a deficit of over $2. 5 trillion this year,” said Republican Congressman Matt Rosendale of Montana in an interview with BBC World Tonight’s James Coomarasamy on Tuesday.

“Why should the US take money from China and give it to Ukraine. That’s not good for us. ”

The White House is trying to get more support from Congress by offering more aid to Ukraine for its economy and national security. Ms Young wrote to Congress saying she needed money to make weapons in different factories all over the country.

“We will update important weapons and gear like Javelins made in Alabama, Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems made in West Virginia, Arkansas and Texas. ” “Also, there are artillery shells made in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Iowa, and many other states,” she writes.

As the election gets closer, the White House may want members of Congress to talk about how their work is helping the economies in their districts.

Mr Kagan said he was not surprised that the US is arguing more about giving money to Ukraine as the conflict there continues for three years.

He says the American people should have their representatives talk about what America’s interests are and have a real debate about how to spend the large amount of money.

But eventually, he said the situation was obvious.

“The result of this war will mainly depend on what the Ukrainians do, but also on what the United States decides to do. “

Zelensky cancels briefing for US Senate due to budget dispute

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky canceled a important meeting with US politicians because they couldn’t agree on how much money the US should give to Ukraine in the future.

Virtual meetings in the Senate and House were planned for Tuesday, but got called off at the last minute.

A high-ranking Ukrainian official said they might lose the war against Russia if they don’t get more help from the US.

Senate leader Chuck Schumer did not say why Mr Zelensky did not come.

The leader of the main group of Democrats in the chamber said the president of Ukraine was busy with something important at the last moment, but didn’t say what it was.

The leader of Ukraine was supposed to talk to senators through a video at a private meeting with important US officials. The meeting continued, but the talks about the aid package quickly turned into a mess.

Mr Zelensky’s top assistant, Andriy Yermak, said earlier on Tuesday that Ukraine could lose without ongoing help from the US.

“It will be hard for people to stay in the same places and survive,” he said in a speech at the US Institute of Peace in Washington DC.

Mr Yermak said things were very bad just before Mr Zelensky left.

The embassy of Ukraine in Washington DC did not quickly answer a question from the BBC asking for more information about why the cancellation happened.

It comes right after the White House asked for more help for Ukraine. The US Congress is still not close to agreeing on a plan to fund the war.

“We don’t have any money left and we are running out of time,” said Shalanda Young, the White House budget director, in a letter to Republican and Democratic leaders that was published on Monday.

She said that if Congress doesn’t give more money to Ukraine for its military by the end of the year, it would make it hard for them to fight against Russia. And there’s no extra money left to use.

On Monday, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, didn’t seem interested in giving more money, even though people were asking for billions of dollars.

“The Biden Administration has not addressed any of my conference’s valid worries about the unclear plan in Ukraine, how to solve the conflict, and how to make sure the aid from American taxpayers is used properly,” he wrote on social media.

The lack of funding is happening while fighting on the frontlines seems to have stopped making progress.

Ukraine’s planned attack in the south seems to have gotten slower, and the forces in Kyiv are having a hard time keeping control of the area they had taken on the east side of the Dnipro river.

Since the war started in February 2022, the US Congress has agreed to give more than $110 billion in military and economic help to Ukraine. The Biden administration has been saying for months that most of the money has already been given out.

  • Ireland ‘concerned’ about people seeking shelter in tents

Ireland ‘concerned’ about people seeking shelter in tents

The Irish government cannot give homes to all the people asking for asylum.

The Department of Integration said it can’t find housing for all asylum seekers because there aren’t enough available.

Ireland is now hosting over 100,000 people. This includes 74,000 who have left Ukraine because of the war, and more than 26,000 who are seeking asylum from other countries.

The deputy prime minister is worried about asylum seekers having to sleep in tents and the potential health and safety problems that come with it, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Micheál Martin said things are tough and the Irish government will be meeting later this week to figure it out.

The Department of Integration will provide day services where people can come in any time to use hot showers, get meals, and do laundry every day of the week.

It also promised to give tents and sleeping bags to anyone who needs them.

The department said its workers are trying to make more beds available for use.

It says that since January 2022, it has made over 10,000 beds available for people who come to Ireland looking for protection.

The spokesperson said that the department couldn’t meet demand because of problems they couldn’t control.

The person in charge of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees told RTÉ’s News at One that the news was very worrying and sad.

Enda O’Neill mentioned that this has happened before from January to June this year. More than 1,500 people seeking asylum did not get a place to stay when they came to the state.

“I don’t think it’s safe for anyone to be on the streets, especially after what happened last Thursday. The situation has gotten worse since the beginning of the year with more intimidating and threatening behavior on our streets. ”

Mr O’Neill said that Ireland did very well to get everything ready, but he thinks that since the summer, things have changed a lot.

Volunteers donate 7,200 Christmas gifts to Ukrainian youngsters

One hundred people gave their time to wrap 7,200 Christmas gifts for kids in Ukraine who live in a place damaged by war.

Local businesses donated gifts like toys, books, and puzzles for the second year in a row.

The “wrapathon” happened at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk on Saturday.

The organizers said they will send the supplies to different parts of Ukraine, even in places where Russia’s military is in control.

Save the Children charity said that over four million kids in Ukraine still need urgent help, even though the war started almost two years ago.

Jeremy Fish, a business owner in the area, and one of the founders of the Plant and Hire Aid Alliance, organized the wrapathon. He mentioned that this year’s fundraiser was harder than the one before.

“I believe that the media is not focusing on the war in Ukraine as much, and people are getting tired of hearing about it,” he said.

“But things are still hard for the people in Ukraine. ” Actually, things are getting worse, especially now that winter is here.

Six weeks ago, Mr. Fish helped to bring 750 boxes of supplies to Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front line in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine.

A group of soldiers was hit by a Russian missile and 19 of them died during an awards ceremony.

The group had sent flags to thank the Plant and Hire Aid Alliance for their support. The flags arrived at Mr. Fish’s house after the attack.

Mr Fish said it was very upsetting.

Maryna Porgyan was one of 100 people who helped wrap presents.

She said: “Many kids don’t have parents and many parents can’t afford to buy gifts for their kids. ”

“It’s really hard. ” There are no jobs, no money and things cost more.

Mr Fish said gifts will be sent from Ipswich next week and given to people in Ukraine by Rotary International before Christmas.

Ukraine targets three airports overnight in retaliation for massive Russian drone strike

Ukraine attacked Russia with many kamikaze drones this weekend. It was the biggest attack in months.

Three of Moscow’s airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky – had to shut down. Flights were stopped or cancelled.

Russia had to use guns to take down 11 drones on Saturday night, and another nine on Sunday morning.

Ukraine is fighting back against the Russian attack on Saturday.

The mayor of Moscow, who supports Putin, said there was a big attack on the Russian capital.

Five small flying machines were said to be shot down in the outskirts of Moscow in some areas.

Three times buildings on the ground were damaged, but it’s not clear if any of the drones hit important targets.

The mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said that Moscow was the main goal.

“He said someone tried to do a big drone attack last night. ”

In another place, the power was turned off in Donetsk People’s Republic. This happened after Ukraine attacked the power grid in the area.

In Tula, a city not far from Moscow, a drone crashed into a house and caused an explosion. Three people got hurt and needed medical care.

Later this morning, there were new reports of a large group of drones flying over the city. People heard loud explosions, but it’s not confirmed if two kamikaze drones were shot down.

Denis Pushilin, who was chosen by Putin to be in charge of the area, said: ‘Last night, the enemy tried to harm the region’s power system. ‘
In another place, the electricity was turned off in Russian-controlled Donetsk because it seems that Ukraine attacked the power grid there.

Denis Pushilin, who was chosen by Putin to lead the occupation, said: “Last night, the enemy tried to harm the area’s power system. ”

‘Sadly, because the attacks were so big, not everything was destroyed. ‘

Parts of Donetsk city, Makeevka and most of Mariupol had no electricity.

The day after the worst attacks in Kyiv, 71 out of 75 Iranian-made drones were shot down by Ukraine’s air defenses.

Serhiy Popko, leader of the city’s government, said it was the biggest drone attack on Kyiv.

“Our soldiers destroyed most of the drones with gunfire. ” “Sadly, not everyone,” said Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We are still working to make our air defense stronger and shoot down more enemy planes. “

  • Zelensky running for presidential office again

Zelensky running for presidential office again

How do you have elections during a war?

For months, people in Ukraine have been arguing about whether they should have a presidential election in March next year like they planned or not.

No elections, not even for president, are allowed because the country is under martial law since Russia invaded in February 2022.

A lot of people in Ukraine are upset by the idea because they are worried that having a vote could take attention away from the country’s struggle for survival.

Tensions went down after President Zelensky said in November that it was not the best time for elections.

However, the problem is not finished yet and has caused a big argument in the country, like never before since Russia invaded it.

One of the main reasons for the conflict is not just Ukraine, but the US.

    US political parties

US politicians, especially a few in the Republican party, are influencing the conversation about the upcoming 2024 Ukrainian elections, according to Olha Aivazovska, who leads the election monitoring network Opora.

She says that some very conservative Republicans are using the problem as a reason to stop giving military help to Ukraine.

And these sounds are becoming stronger. As Donald Trump’s focus on America’s own interests becomes more important in the Republican party, the support for Ukraine is getting stuck in US political arguments and disagreements between parties.

Many Republicans support Ukraine, but the far-right part of the party might still use this against Ukraine during the next US presidential elections.

They are doing it already. Earlier this month, Vivek Ramaswamy, who wants to be the Republican candidate for president, said that Ukraine is not a good example of democracy and is saying that they won’t have elections this year unless the US gives them more money.

Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham said that Ukraine should have presidential elections in 2024 during his visit to Kyiv in August.

President Zelensky knows he has to deal with the increasing talk from the US. The US is Ukraine’s main friend, and its military help is important for stopping Russia’s attack.

“MrZelensky said in an interview on Ukrainian TV last August that there are several things that can divide US support for Ukraine. ” One thing that worries me is the elections because I heard that some people in the Republican party are against continuing support.

Until now, Mr. Zelensky did not completely say no to the elections. He talked about the difficulties like security, laws, and money, and said he is “prepared” to run for president again if there is a war during the elections.

In a recent interview on Ukrainian TV, Mr. Zelensky said that he wants to have elections within a year or whenever they are needed.

Earlier this month, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Mr. Zelensky was thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of having elections during a time of war.

    Backlash within the country.

Even if the government makes changes to the rules to allow elections, there are still many problems that make it hard to hold a vote.

Security is the most important thing.

Olena Shulyak, who leads the Servant of the People party, says it’s not possible to have elections during the war because many of our citizens are either outside the country or have been forced to leave their homes.

“We can’t have elections because we can’t keep our people safe, and our soldiers can’t participate or run for office. ”

Other problems include schools being damaged, an old list of voters, limited rights under military rule, and not enough money.

Specialists say that it’s not possible to have a fair election with competition in the current situation.

In November, a survey done by Kyiv’s International Institute of Sociology found that over 80% of people wanted to wait until the war is over before having elections.

MPs from different political parties say it’s not right to have elections next year.

President Zelensky’s unclear statements about the chance of having elections have caused problems in his own country.

Opposition politicians and news outlets said that the government was getting ready to have a presidential election in 2024. Some politicians said they want to try to become the president.

People were starting to think that President Zelensky might not be as popular because of a situation at the front line. They thought he wanted to have the elections in 2024 as scheduled while he was still well-liked.

President Zelensky said that Ukraine should not have elections right now.

The president gave a speech on TV in early November to stop the rumors. He said it’s not the right time for elections.

“We need to decide that it’s time to defend and fight. The fate of the state and people depends on it,” he said.

When will Ukraine vote for their leaders?

Alina Zagoruyko, an MP and the leader of the group that oversees elections and referendums in parliament, says that Volodymyr Zelensky will still be the rightful president even after his time in office ends next year.

According to Article 108 of Ukraine’s constitution, the current president keeps doing their job until the new president takes over.

“But if the war continues for a long time, then we might have to think about having elections even in difficult conditions,” Ms.

Many politicians and experts believe they should start getting ready for the elections after the war.

Many small towns and villages, such as Bakhmut and Avdiivka, are completely destroyed. Most of the people have either died or moved away from the country. The system for voting in an election is ruined. Organizing elections in those places will be very difficult even when there is no war.

  • Ukraine war: Greatest drone strike hits Kiev since the start of the war

Ukraine war: Greatest drone strike hits Kiev since the start of the war

Russia has sent off its greatest robot assault on Kyiv since its full-scale attack of Ukraine started last year, the city’s chairman has said.

Inhabitants were woken by blasts before sunrise on Saturday, and for over six hours, the blasts of Kyiv’s air safeguards reverberated through the city.

There was a large number of floods of assaults from the north and east.

Authorities said that in excess of 75 Iranian-made Shahed drones were discharged at the capital, and 74 were destroyed.

With Russia’s decreasing rocket stocks, Shahed drones are viewed as a modest other option. They are more slow than long range rockets and have an unmistakable wingspan.

It was a night where the whimpers of their motors mixed with the blasts of the city’s air guards.

As could be, regardless of whether a rocket or robot is caught, the falling flotsam and jetsam can be deadly as well.

There have been no revealed passings from this assault, yet something like five individuals were harmed, including a 11-year-old kid, Kyiv’s city hall leader Vitaliy Klitschko said.

A kindergarten was among the structures harmed.

For a few calm weeks, Moscow had been associated with storing rockets. That unexpectedly finished toward the beginning of today.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the strikes a demonstration of “wilful dread” and said that his nation will “keep on attempting to join the world in guard against Russian fear”.

He is attempting to get proceeded with Western help as well as arrange Ukraine’s way to being a potential individual from the European Association.

President Zelensky additionally noticed that the assault came around the same time that Ukraine remembers the 1932-1933 Holodomor starvation – welcomed on by Soviet tyrant Joseph Stalin – which killed a few million Ukrainians.

As winter keeps on gnawing, it had been expected that Russia would continue its strategy of focusing on Ukraine’s energy framework. With 16,000 homes being left without power in the focal Kyiv area, this seems, by all accounts, to be the situation.

Notwithstanding, in the event that the point of Moscow’s procedure last year was to deny Ukrainians of much-required power and water, it eventually flopped as specialists figured out how to rapidly fix harmed pipes and powerlines.

Ukraine’s air safeguards likewise continued to move along.

This isn’t to imply that strikes like this are not felt.

They actually kill, annihilate homes, spread dread and disturb lives.

  • Ukraine accuses Russian and Hunter Biden investigation officials

Ukraine accuses Russian and Hunter Biden investigation officials

Treason charges have been brought against three Ukrainians who supported the Donald Trump campaign‘s attempts to damage the Biden family.

Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and Mr. Trump’s personal attorney at the time, spearheaded the 2019 campaign.

The focus was on unverified claims that Joe Biden, while serving as vice president, engaged in corrupt activities with Ukraine.

According to the Security Service (SBU) of Ukraine, Russian military intelligence (GRU) funded the three guys who were accused.

It further stated that they have tarnished Ukraine’s image overseas by exploiting a “tense political situation”.

Oleksandr Dubinsky, a current member of parliament, Andriy Derkach, a former prosecutor, and Kostyantyn Kulyk are the three persons accused.

    Dubinsky has refuted the allegations.

According to reports, all three are part of an agent network run by Russian General Vladimir Alekseyev, the GRU’s deputy chief.

According to the charges, they were paid $10 million (£8 million) to engage in “information subversive activities” about the 2020 US election.

The men are charged with aiding in the propagation of the myth that Ukraine, not Russia, meddled in the most recent US elections.

The accusations directed at Mr Biden included the commercial activities of his son Hunter, a director of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company.

Because Mr. Biden had been looking into Burisma, Mr. Trump and his associates claimed that Mr. Biden, as Barack Obama’s vice president, had pushed for the dismissal of Viktor Shokin, the top prosecutor in Ukraine.

Hunter Biden has since filed a lawsuit against Mr. Giuliani for “completely abrogating” his privacy rights through the former New York mayor’s search for damaging information related to the Biden family.

Ukrainian authorities did not clearly identify Mr. Dubinsky but used a nickname believed to have come from Russian intelligence calling him “Burtino. ”

However, the lawmaker identified himself in a Telegram post, saying that a court in Kyiv had ordered his detention for 60 days based on the charges against him. Mr Dubinsky denied any wrongdoing in a series of messages on Telegram and insisted he was the victim of political repression directed against him by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office.

He faces up to 15 years in prison and confiscation of assets if convicted. Derkach and Kulyk fled Ukraine after Russia’s invasion in 2022, the SBU said.

Dubinsky, Derkach and Kulyk were sanctioned by the US government in the final days of the Trump administration for their alleged efforts to sabotage the 2020 US election. The Ministry of Finance identified Mr.

Derkach as a Russian agent. He was named in a nearly 1,000-page report released by the US Senate Intelligence Committee on Russia’s interference in the 2016 US election.

Mr Derkach met publicly with Mr. Giuliani in Ukraine in 2019 as part of their efforts to link Hunter Biden to corruption in Ukraine. He also appeared with Mr. Giuliani in right-wing US media before the 2020 election, where they shared details of their alleged investigation.

In addition, while serving as deputy prosecutor general of Ukraine, Mr. Kulyk wrote a 2019 memo calling on Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden’s role on Burisma’s board of directors.

It included unsubstantiated claims that he had evidence that President Joe Biden had illegally enriched himself, which allegedly prompted Mr. Giuliani to seek incriminating information in Ukraine. Mr Giuliani, like Mr. Trump, faces many legal issues in the US related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Mr Trump also urged Ukrainian lawmakers to investigate Hunter Biden, including his phone call with President Zelensky.

Democrats in Congress impeached the former US president for refusing military aid to Ukraine while pressuring Mr. ZelenskyMr Trump was later acquitted by the US Senate with the support of the Republican Party.

  • Ukraine war affected by Israel-Hamas conflict – Zelensky

Ukraine war affected by Israel-Hamas conflict – Zelensky

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has acknowledged that the Israel-Hamas conflict is diverting attention from the war in Ukraine.

He said that Russia’s goal was to invade Ukraine, and they did so in February 2022.

He said that the fighting in Ukraine isn’t stuck, even though the country’s top military leader recently said that it is.

Ukraine’s attempt to fight back in the south hasn’t been very successful yet.

This has made Kyiv’s Western allies worried that they might get tired of supporting Ukraine in war. Some countries are starting to hesitate in giving Ukraine advanced weapons and money.

Why the gain of Kyiv’s east bank could be important
The conflict in Ukraine is getting worse as Russia is strengthening their defenses and making it harder for opponents to break through.

During a briefing in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Zelensky explained that the war in the Middle East is diverting attention from Ukraine. He made this statement while talking to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

He said Russia wanted this attention to be reduced, but emphasized that we have the ability to control everything.

MrZelensky was also questioned about what Ukraine’s top military commander, Valery Zaluzhny, said this week about the war entering a “positional” or static phase. Zaluzhny believes that this phase would be advantageous to Moscow because it would give them an opportunity to strengthen their military forces again.

“Everyone is getting tired and there are different opinions,” Mr Zelensky said. He also mentioned that this situation is not a stalemate.

He said that Russia has control of the skies and Ukraine urgently needs F-16 warplanes and advanced anti-aircraft defenses from the US to improve the situation.

The Ukrainian leader said that last year there was a lot of talk about a situation where no progress was being made on the large battlefield in Ukraine. However, he mentioned that Kyiv was able to achieve significant military victories in the northeastern Kharkiv region and the southern Kherson region afterwards.

Mr Zelensky said that the reports in the media about him feeling more pressure to talk with Russia are not true.

Today, none of our partners in the EU, US, and other countries are forcing us to have talks with Russia and give them something in return. This won’t happen.

Moscow responded to Mr. Zaluzhny’s statement on Thursday. The spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the current situation on the battlefield is not a “stalemate”.

“According to Dmitry Peskov, all the objectives of the war need to be accomplished. He also mentioned that Ukraine should understand that discussing the possibility of the Kyiv government winning the war is unreasonable. ”

President Putin has said many times that Ukraine’s counter-attack has not been successful, and his Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu recently stated that Kyiv is losing the war even though they are receiving new weapons from Nato allies.

The UK defense intelligence recently reported that Russia may have lost about 200 tanks and other armored vehicles while attacking Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine.

It is possible that Russia has had many soldiers hurt or killed in the town since October 2023.

The report stated that Russia’s leaders are still willing to accept many people getting hurt or killed in order to gain small amounts of land.

Moscow has been attempting to make progress in eastern and north-eastern Ukraine recently, but Ukraine’s military says they have successfully defended against all the attacks.

The statements made by both sides have not been checked to confirm if they are true or not.

  • 118 Ukrainian towns and villages attacked by Russia – Kyiv

118 Ukrainian towns and villages attacked by Russia – Kyiv

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has indicated that in a span of 24 hours, Russia launched an intense bombardment on 118 towns and villages in Ukraine. This represents the highest daily number of attacks this year.

Klymenko reported that this onslaught impacted 10 out of Ukraine’s 27 regions, resulting in casualties, including deaths and injuries. Many of the targeted communities were situated near the front lines in eastern and southern Ukraine.

For several weeks, Russia has been concentrating a significant portion of its military power on the strategically important town of Avdiivka in the eastern Donetsk region.

“[Avdiivka] is being erased, shattered. There have been more than 40 massive shelling attacks against the territorial community in the past day,” said local leader Vitaliy Barabash.

According to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, two civilians lost their lives in the attacks, and he issued a warning that Russia appeared to be preparing for a third wave of its offensive. Ukraine has reported that Russia is amassing reinforcements in an attempt to encircle and capture the strategically significant town of Avdiivka.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian armed forces’ general staff announced that they successfully repelled twenty attacks in the Avdiivka area alone. Additionally, Russia has escalated its assaults on the town of Kupyansk in the northeastern Kharkiv region and has been attempting to prevent Ukrainian forces from reclaiming territory around Bakhmut.

There have also been attacks away from the front lines, including strikes on residential buildings, shops, and a pharmacy in the southern city of Nikopol on the banks of the Dnipro River. In Kremenchuk, a disused oil refinery was set on fire by a Russian drone. This refinery, located in the central Poltava region, has been targeted multiple times by Russian forces and continued to face attacks throughout the early hours of Wednesday.

Ukraine’s counter-offensive has encountered difficulties in reclaiming territory occupied by Russian forces in the south and east, raising concerns about waning Western support for the conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has acknowledged the slow progress and has consistently urged Ukraine’s allies to provide advanced weaponry urgently while maintaining unity.

On Wednesday, Ukraine’s chief military commander, Zaluzhny, cautioned that the war was entering a “positional” or static stage.

Recent Ukrainian attacks targeted the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, leading to the departure of most of its ships from occupied Crimea.

Kyiv’s efforts have been focused on establishing a secure export corridor for civilian vessels to transport grain along Ukraine’s Black Sea coast. This route passes through Romanian waters and continues to the Turkish coast.

Despite ongoing Russian bombardment, approximately 700,000 metric tonnes of grain have successfully navigated the region in recent months. Ukrainian officials have reported that warplanes dropped “explosive objects” in areas where civilian ships were expected to pass. Nevertheless, Ukraine’s southern operational command has stated that the navigational corridor remains operational under the protection of the defense forces.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu asserted on Wednesday that Ukraine was losing the war, even though it had received new weapons from NATO.

  • Russia sets new settlement record — Ukraine

Russia sets new settlement record — Ukraine

The Ukrainian Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, said that Russia attacked 118 towns and villages in Ukraine within 24 hours. This was the most intense attack in a single day so far this year.

He said that out of the 27 regions in Ukraine, 10 regions were attacked. These attacks resulted in deaths and injuries.

A lot of the towns and cities that were affected were close to where the fighting was happening in the eastern and southern areas.

Russia has been focusing its military strength on Avdiivka, an important town in eastern Donetsk, for several weeks.

Avdiivka is being completely destroyed and broken apart. Local leader Vitaliy Barabash said that the territorial community has experienced over 40 serious attacks with shelling in the last day.

He said that two ordinary people were killed and cautioned that Russia was getting ready for another attack. Ukraine claims that Russia has been sending more soldiers and weapons to surround and take control of the town.

On Tuesday, Ukraine’s army stopped twenty attacks in the Avdiivka area.

Russia has also increased its attacks on the town of Kupyansk in the north-eastern Kharkiv region and tried to prevent Ukrainian forces from taking back land near Bakhmut.

There were also attacks in places away from where the fighting was happening. In a city called Nikopol, on the bank of the Dnipro river, a block of flats, shops, and a pharmacy were attacked. In another place called Kremenchuk, a Russian drone set fire to an old oil refinery.

The oil processing plant in Poltava has been attacked by Russia many times. Officials have reported that the plant was attacked again on Wednesday morning.

The Kremenchuk refinery used to be the largest in Ukraine. However, it was forced to stop operating after being damaged by attacks from Russia during their invasion.

Ukraine’s attempts to retake land from Russian forces in the south and east have not been successful. This is worrying because there are concerns that Western countries may become tired of the ongoing war.

One of the Ukrainian leader’s closest friends, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, talked about feeling tired during a fake phone call from two Russian pranksters. These pranksters are well-known for tricking people who are against the Russian government.

“I notice that there is a lot of tiredness, if I have to be honest, from all perspectives,” she tells the duo, Vovan and Lexus. “We are getting closer to the point where everyone realizes that we need a solution. ”

The Ukraine’s counterattack may not be going as planned or expected. It is still happening, but it hasn’t made a difference in the outcome of the conflict.

The US President Joe Biden’s team has requested Congress to give approval for a $106 billion package to support both Ukraine and Israel. This week, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that if we do not help, Russia’s Vladimir Putin will succeed.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a speech on Tuesday that people in our world tend to become complacent about success too easily.

He praised the military for reducing Russia’s control over the Black Sea. He said that by protecting our coastline and sea, we are also protecting the world.

Russian navy ships in Crimea were attacked by Ukraine, so they had to move their ships away from there.

Kyiv has attempted to establish a safe route for boats to transport grain from Ukraine’s Black Sea coast, through Romania’s waters, and finally to the Turkish coast.

Ukrainian officials said that war planes dropped explosive objects on civilian ships, even though 700,000 metric tonnes of grain managed to avoid being bombed by Russia. “According to Ukraine’s southern operational command, the defense forces still oversee the operation of the navigational corridor. ”

Russia’s Defence Minister, Sergei Shoigu, said on Wednesday that Ukraine is not winning the war, even with new weapons they received from NATO.

He said that Ukraine was having a hard time in their attempt to move into areas held by Russia, like Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Donetsk. The morale of the personnel is decreasing. He said that Russian groups were moving forward.

The BBC cannot confirm or prove these statements.

  • Russia most certainly targeted nuclear reactor in Ukraine – Zelensky

Russia most certainly targeted nuclear reactor in Ukraine – Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky suspects that a drone strike originating from Russia in western Ukraine had likely targeted a nuclear power facility.

On Wednesday, drones made in Iran attacked the area near a power plant in the west of Khmelnytsky region.

The attack hurt 20 people and caused only small damage, like broken windows.

The IAEA said that the plant is still working normally.

The Ukraine’s Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant experienced strong blasts, shared IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in a statement. The explosions show the risks to nuclear safety caused by the war, he said.

The Khmelnytsky plant has two machines that produce power. One machine is running, but the other machine has been turned off on purpose since August.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, there have been constant worries about the impact on a nuclear power plant.

Russian forces have taken control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, located in the eastern part of Ukraine, starting from March 2022.

Kyiv says that Russia bombed the factory and put it at risk of leaking radiation. They call this action “nuclear terror”. There haven’t been any serious accidents since the big invasion last year.

MrZelensky mentioned that the assault in the Khmelnytsky region highlights the need for more assistance from other countries to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.

He said that Russian drones and missiles have parts from Western companies and countries. The Khmelnytsky attack showed how risky it is when Russia can ignore international rules and restrictions

On Tuesday, the leader of Germany, Olaf Scholz, said that Germany will provide Ukraine with €1. 4bn ($15bn; £12bn) in financial help.

The new aid will have missile defense systems to protect Ukrainian infrastructure. This is because Russia might use cold weather and energy shortages as weapons against the civilian population.

On Thursday, Ukrainian intelligence said that a car carrying four people from Russia’s FSB security service exploded in Berdyansk, in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to news in Russia, someone was killed by a homemade bomb.

The bombing that was reported is the most recent in a series of attacks aimed at Russian officials and people who support them in Ukraine, which is currently under Russian control.

In September, Vladimir Malov, who was a member of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s political party in the Kherson region, died when his car was exploded in what seems to be a planned murder.

  • Eight dwellings purchased for conflict refugees

Eight dwellings purchased for conflict refugees

A council has bought eight houses for people escaping Ukraine and Afghanistan.

East Hampshire District Council said that the government and developers provided money to fund the accommodation.

There are five houses in Bordon, two houses in Petersfield, and one house in Horndean. Seven Ukrainian families will live in these homes, and one home will be for an Afghan family.

Councillor Adeel Shah said: “One of our visitors cried because she was so happy when she saw her new house. ”

He said that many generous people let Ukrainian refugees stay in their homes when the conflict started, and now we can find a permanent home for them.

Nobody should have to leave their home because they are scared. It is really good that this country is ready to help and provide safety and comfort to people who need it.

Mr Shah said that the buildings will be put back into the social housing supply when they are available again.

The department in charge of improving fairness, housing, and communities requested councils to purchase homes to assist with the refugee problem caused by wars in Ukraine and Afghanistan.

  • Ukraine worries about drone shortage after Chinese restrictions

Ukraine worries about drone shortage after Chinese restrictions

Drones have had a big impact on the war in Ukraine, used a lot by both sides. China’s decision to limit the amount of goods it exports has raised worries that there might be a shortage of supplies.

A lot of these things are made in China and bought ready to use. We need more supplies because many of them get lost in the fighting.

However, it seems like there may be fewer Chinese drones and drone parts accessible to both Ukraine and Russia.

Based on a report by a London think tank called the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi), Ukraine loses around 10,000 drones every month.

Many volunteer groups have used donated money to help the Ukrainian army get new supplies.

Commercial drones are used together with military drones that are specifically made for fighting, like the Turkish Bayraktar drones used by Ukraine and the Iranian Shaheds used by Russia.

The Chinese government recently put new rules in place starting from 1 September. These rules are for bigger drones that weigh more than 4kg. They also apply to certain equipment like cameras and radio modules that are used with drones.

Chinese manufacturers of this equipment now have to ask for permission to sell it overseas and give certificates to show who will use it. The government in Beijing, which has not criticized Russia for invading Ukraine, says Chinese drones should only be used for business, not military, reasons.

Ukrainian volunteers and soldiers are not greatly affected by the recent Chinese restrictions on drones. The popular lightweight Mavic drones made by DJI are still easily available.
But, they are saying that there is a problem getting the parts they need, and they are also worried that it might get even worse later on.

Lyuba Shypovych, the leader of Dignitas, a big Ukrainian volunteer group that provides the military with drones, said that the only difference for now is that they are buying the remaining stock in European warehouses more actively. “But we don’t know what we will be doing in the future. ”

She is very concerned about whether there will be enough thermal imaging cameras available.

The shorter days and longer nights are affecting our military supplies and how we conduct warfare because we have fewer thermal imaging drones. She said our units cannot see well at night. This impacts both drones that are already made and come with thermal imaging cameras, as well as the individual parts used to build drones.

It is especially important to have enough parts for people who build their own drones or make upgrades on ones they bought.

The effect is being noticed. According to a drone operator named Oddr, China’s license restrictions have reduced Ukraine’s ability to acquire drone parts. “However, we are searching for other options to ensure that our drones continue to function just like they did previously. ”

This is the most recent problem that volunteers have in getting drones for the Russian and Ukrainian armies.

The biggest company that makes drones for business, DJI, stopped selling directly to both countries two months after the big attack started in February 2022. They also stopped their distributors everywhere in the world from selling DJI products to customers in Russia or Ukraine.

Ms Shypovych said that there were a lot fewer Chinese drones for sale in Europe between August and September 2022.

It’s doubtful that it occurred randomly. “She says European countries are where Ukrainians get drones from. ”

When the BBC asked DJI, they couldn’t say for sure if the number of drones they were giving to distributors in Europe had changed or not.

None of the 10 UK companies that sell DJI products and were asked by the BBC were able to comment on the issue.

A recent investigation by The New York Times found that Chinese companies have reduced the number of drones and parts they sell to people in Ukraine.

However, other countries are also impacted by this situation, not just Ukraine.

Russia’s Kommersant newspaper said that the regulations put in place by China’s government on drone exports have made it very difficult for Russia to receive the supplies they need. This has caused a shortage of certain parts, like thermal imaging cameras.

When Russian buyers can’t get drones directly, they often go to other countries like Kazakhstan to buy Chinese drones. However, it has become tougher for them because Kazakhstan has made its own rules about importing drones.

To reduce the effects of the Chinese restrictions, Ukrainian volunteers have been working hard to find other options made in different countries, both in the West and Ukraine.

Anatoly Polkovnikov, who assists in getting drones, shares that a Ukrainian start-up is getting ready to start producing drone motors.

He believes that the Chinese restrictions won’t affect the overall situation and is hopeful for the future. I think that in the future, they will encourage more production in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine is the first time drones have been used in a big way, and both sides want to continue using them a lot.

  • Leaders of South Africa and Ukraine speak about renewing grain deal

Leaders of South Africa and Ukraine speak about renewing grain deal

South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky both want the Russia-Ukraine conflict to be resolved peacefully.

They met and talked on Tuesday because the Ukrainian president asked them to. This was confirmed by the South African presidency in a statement on Wednesday.

It means that Mr. Ramaphosa was happy that Mr. Zelensky wants to bring back the Black Sea Grain Initiative. They both promised to keep working together on it.

Russia stopped participating in a grain agreement that was made between the UN, Turkey, and Russia in July 2022. This agreement allowed grain from Ukraine to be sold to other countries.

Ukraine has suggested creating places in African ports where grains can be stored and traded.

Last month, the President of Kenya, William Ruto, announced that Ukraine had agreed to establish a center for storing and distributing grains in the port of Mombasa. This center will provide grains to the eastern African region.

Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan were some of the countries that gained advantages from the Black Sea Grain agreement.

During the discussions, Mr. Ramaphosa also expressed his country’s dedication to actively participating in the Africa Peace Initiative. This initiative was proposed by seven African leaders earlier this year as a potential way to achieve peace.

He agreed that his country will take part in the peace talks proposed by Ukraine, which will involve national security advisors.

  • Rev Jenny Gaffin asks more individuals to accept Ukrainian migrants

Rev Jenny Gaffin asks more individuals to accept Ukrainian migrants

A vicar has made close friendships with Ukrainian refugees she gave shelter to and wants others to think about doing the same.

Rev Jenny Gaffin, who lives in Hayling Island, Hampshire, got her motivation from the tale of her grandparents who had to flee their homes after World War Two.

She said that having two families in the house made it feel lively and happy.

Rev Gaffin was talking while the National Audit Office was saying good things about the Homes For Ukraine program.

The program allows people to support Ukrainians who are seeking safety from the war by sponsoring them and their families. Sponsors are given a three-year visa to stay in the UK.

Rev Gaffin said: “When I first saw the war in Ukraine on video, it made me think of my own grandparents who had to flee Hungary after the Second World War. ”

So obviously, I wanted to do whatever I could. I had an extra room in my house and I really wanted to invite people to stay with me.

She helped two families – Kateryna and her seven-year-old daughter Nelya, and Anna and her five-year-old son Leonid – by giving them support.

Moving from living alone in a vicarage to having a family life with a language barrier was a big surprise initially, but in a very positive way, said the person. However, they also mentioned that the situation turned out to be a great and enjoyable experience.

Kind and giving people like Rev Gaffin helped the government quickly provide temporary support to Ukrainians looking for shelter. They have supported 131,000 Ukrainians who came to the UK since March 2022.
According to the National Audit Office, around 8% of Ukrainian refugees might become homeless after the program comes to an end.

Helpful payments for host families have recently gone up from £350 to £500 per month.

Rev Gaffin encouraged others to join the scheme but advised anyone interested to be realistic about what they can contribute.

“I have made a friend who I believe will be a part of my life forever. If you have a place in your home, please think about offering it to me. It’s a great thing to do,” she said.

  • Russian helicopters damaged by Ukrainian airstrikes

Russian helicopters damaged by Ukrainian airstrikes

Ukraine says it used an air strike to destroy nine Russian helicopters in two cities that are occupied by Russia in eastern Ukraine.

According to a special forces statement, the cities of Berdyansk and Luhansk were attacked and some important military equipment, including an air defense system and a storage place for weapons, were damaged.

Many Russian soldiers were killed or hurt in the mission, stated the report.

No one else has confirmed the attack, and the Russian military has not said anything about it.

Vladimir Rogov, who was chosen by Russia to be the governor of the captured area in Zaporizhzhia region, announced that the air defense systems were able to stop enemy rockets in Berdyansk. They are currently investigating any injuries or damage and will inform us later.

However, there is a video on a social media account that supports Russia, which has not been confirmed, that shows explosions and rockets flying in a place called Berdyansk. In the video, a voice explains that a storage area for ammunition has been bombed.

A Russian blogger recently wrote about an assault on an airfield using American-made ATACMS rockets. The attack caused significant damage and resulted in casualties of both people and technology, according to the blogger.

Berdyansk is about 85km (or 53 miles) from the closest area of conflict, while Luhansk is nearly 100km away.

Fights are still happening between Ukrainian and Russian forces in Avdiivka, Kupyansk, and Lyman. Russian forces have been attacking these towns heavily lately.

Emergency services in Ukraine have reported that a dormitory building was destroyed in an attack by Russia on the city of Slovyansk. There are currently two people who are believed to be trapped under the debris.

In Odesa, the people in charge say that parts from Russian flying machines that were destroyed have harmed a club for boats and some boats themselves, but nobody was hurt.

Ukraine is attempting to reclaim land in the eastern and southern parts of the country that Russia has taken over. They have started a large-scale attack, but their progress has been slow.

It has also frequently attacked Russia’s positions in the air in order to weaken Moscow’s war effort.

  • UK looks into using Russian equipment for Ukraine’s defence

UK looks into using Russian equipment for Ukraine’s defence

The government wants the Bank of England to find ways to use Russian assets to help pay for Ukraine’s war, according to Chancellor Jeremy Hunt in an interview with the BBC.

Mr Hunt said that finance ministers from various countries have talked about finding additional methods, other than sanctions, to interfere with Russia’s capability to finance the war.

“Mr Hunt said that this war is not allowed or lawful. ”

We must do everything possible to stop Russia from giving money to it.

Mr Hunt talked to the BBC at the IMF’s yearly conference in Marrakech and said that finance ministers from the G7, which are the biggest economies in the world, talked about whether Ukraine’s defense could be funded by using Russia’s government-owned properties.

“He said that we should do whatever it takes to make sure Putin understands that he won’t be able to continue being aggressive because it will cost him too much. ”

The G7 group announced on Thursday that they will look into how to tax profits from Russian assets that have been taken in order to help Ukraine. They will do this while following the relevant laws.

In September, the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Mr. Hunt showed that they agreed with a European Union idea to tax the extra money gained from the profits of Russian assets that have been kept locked.

Earlier this year, the US considered using their own resources to help financially support Ukraine’s defense. However, they later concluded that this would not be allowed by law.

On Friday, Mr. Hunt said that Britain will always follow the rules, but the G7 group has requested central banks to explore any options because we strongly believe that this war is against the law of the world.

The chancellor said that the war in Ukraine was taking longer to resolve than people wanted, and that the world needs to prevent getting tired of dealing with Ukraine’s situation.

He said, “We need to be honest and tell people that it will take a while. So, for now, we must be careful and cautious in how we handle the British economy. ”

The European Union and the US are trying to find better ways to use money that Russia cannot access and make the punishments against Russia work better.

On Thursday, the US government punished two companies for breaking a limit on the cost of Russian oil.

Several countries, such as the US, the G7, the European Union, and Australia, joined forces to limit Russia’s crude oil prices at $60 per barrel. This was done in order to restrict Russia’s ability to continue its war against Ukraine.

The US discovered that a ship owned by Turkey’s Ice Pearl Navigation Corp and a tanker owned by Lumber Marine of the United Arab Emirates sold crude oil for $80 and $75 per barrel, respectively.

The US Treasury has prevented the companies from buying or owning property in the US.

The oil prices increased on Friday because sanctions were made stricter.

The price of West Texas Intermediate also went up by 3. 6% to $8658

  • Our support is for Israel and Ukraine – Akufo-Addo

Our support is for Israel and Ukraine – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed Ghana’s steadfast support for Israel and Ukraine during what he described as “difficult moments of their national survival.”

He pointed out that the consequences of Hamas’ aggressive actions in Israel, along with their wider impact on peace in the Middle East, have added to the already complex global development challenges.

“Ladies and gentlemen, there should be no disagreement about the intensity and scale of the challenges that confront our world, and the urgent need to address them,” the President stated.

Speaking at the headquarters of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington D.C., the President emphasized the imperative for nations to champion freedom, democracy, and security.

Ghana, a long-standing democratic nation in West Africa, holds a prominent role as a regional leader and a vital member of the West African regional bloc, ECOWAS.

In light of the growing wave of extra-constitutional movements and increasing political instability in sub-Saharan Africa, the United States and its partners are exploring strategies to offer the best possible support to Ghana and other established democracies in the region, with the aim of fostering and sustaining democracy as a governance model.

The discussions with President Nana Akufo-Addo at USIP will also delve into Ghana’s crucial role as a regional leader in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development. The meeting will address a range of topics, including Ghana’s contributions to peace in West Africa, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and regional security matters in the Pacific Islands, among other subjects.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, in his address, pointed out that the world was in turmoil, and “we are confronted with perilous situations”.

“Terrorism and violent extremism, climate change, food insecurity, political instability in parts of Africa, post-election violence, health pandemics energy crises, rising commodity prices, geo-political tensions, the conflicts in the Middle East, and the needless war in Ukraine, amongst others, have weakened the foundational pillars of multilateralism,” he lamented.

He argued that the world was operating in the most challenging and difficult of times.

“The interlocking challenges and the convergence of crises we face post existential threats that require our immediate solidarity and collective actions,” he advised.

  • Special soldiers from Ukraine invade Crimean beaches covertly

Special soldiers from Ukraine invade Crimean beaches covertly

Ukrainian special forces carried out a bold attack on annexed Crimea this week. Commanders have told Vladimir Putin that this is just the start.

A group of 16 highly skilled soldiers attacked the area in the south of Ukraine that has been ruled by Russia since 2014. They carried out this mission during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A video showed a group of soldiers called the Artan Special Forces Unit using five small boats that go fast on water and a bigger boat to reach the west coast. They then started fighting with the Russians in a very intense battle.

Ukraine said it caused a lot of damage to their enemies, but they also admitted that they experienced losses which included one of their soldiers being captured by Russian soldiers.

Their goal has been widely talked about after videos showed Ukrainian soldiers putting their country’s flag on the shore during the attack.

But now Ukraine is telling Russia that they have more secret attacks planned, and this time they will be even more secretive about them.

Artan commander Viktor Torkotiuk hinted that secret missions are already happening and will only be made known at a later time.

A very exciting moment occurred when Ukrainian soldiers attacked Crimea using jet-skis and fast boats.
“This operation by the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine in Crimea is not the first one, and there will be more in the future,” he explained.

Many of them will only be recognized at a later time. This is a well-organized, strategic effort carried out by all the groups involved.

The bad guys will experience the results of what we did for a very long time.

‘We continuously show the Russian invaders that all the occupied areas will eventually be freed. ‘
A group of 16 highly skilled soldiers arrived on the west coast of Crimea and got involved in a intense battle with Russian soldiers.

A few Ukrainian military intelligence officers went on a trip from Vylkove to Crimea, which is 222 miles away. They travelled across the Black Sea. Vylkove is located on the Danube estuary.

According to international law, the area belongs to Ukraine even though Russia has taken control of it.

When they arrived, they quickly started fighting. The commander said that the Artan Special Forces unit of the Ukraine Defense Intelligence landed on the west coast of the peninsula, as well as on Tendra and Kinburn Spits.

The Special Forces fought hard against the Russian invaders in the taken land and caused big damage to the enemy.

Russia arrested a member of the raid team, identified as Alexander Lyubos, aged 46, and he was displayed on Russian television.

With his hands tied behind his back, he spoke on a channel owned by the Russian Defence Ministry. He said he was a soldier from Ukraine’s Chief Directorate of Defence Intelligence, Unit 0336.

While being questioned by the people who captured him, he admitted that the goal of the mission was to put a Ukrainian flag on Crimea.

A Ukrainian commander said that the Artan soldiers also fought at sea on their way back from a mission in Crimea.

The bad guys tried to follow the Special Forces in speedy boats with help from the air.
A spokesperson for Kyiv military intelligence, Andrey Yusov, said that there was a fight with the Russian invaders.

Many of the people who attacked were killed or injured.

Sadly, some Ukrainian soldiers have died, but the number of Russian casualties is much higher. A special plan is being carried out to take back control of Crimea.

We ask everyone who lives on the peninsula to be patient and help the Defence Forces in any way possible to bring back Ukrainian territories.
Russia said they successfully defended themselves against an attack and eliminated the group responsible for causing harm. The Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that one of the attackers was caught.

During questioning, it was found out that the rebellious group was planning to capture images and recordings of its members posing in front of the Ukrainian flag in Crimea.

Sergei Aksyonov, who was chosen by Putin to lead Crimea, said that they found a dead person wearing a special outfit for swimming. This person had two gunshot wounds.

He said he was killed in a fight with Russian border guards.

In Kharkiv, Russia attacked a cafe and shop with missiles this week, killing at least 52 innocent people including a six-year-old boy.

On Friday, scary pictures showed a 10-year-old boy wearing pajamas being rescued from the remains of his house after an attack hit the village of Hroza.

Russian missile kills 10-year-old boy in Kharkiv while sleeping – Ukraine

A 10-year-old boy was sleeping when Russia bombed the city of Kharkiv, and he sadly died. Ukrainian officials shared this information.

A photo claiming to show the boy’s body lying in the rubble was shared on social media by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

He looked like he was covered with a blue blanket and dust. There were broken things all around him, and some people who were there to help.

A child’s body covered with a blanket. This morning, he was killed in Kharkiv by a missile from Russia. “The ministry said that it seemed like the boy was sleeping. ”

The Iskander is a type of missile from Russia. It can reach the city of Kharkiv, which is near the border of Ukraine, very quickly.

CNN has not checked or verified the photo on its own.

A 68-year-old lady, who was the grandmother of the boy, died in the attacks. The boy’s 11-month-old brother was injured along with 30 other people. Oleh Syniehubov, the chief of Kharkiv’s regional state administration, gave this information.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned in his speech on Friday evening that the parents and 11-month-old brother of the boys are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

“I extend my sympathy to all who have lost their loved ones due to Russia,” he said.

The 10-year-old is one of over 500 children who have died in Ukraine because of Russia’s invasion. As of October 6th, in Ukraine, 505 children have died and more than 1,129 have been hurt with different levels of seriousness, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

On Friday, there was an attack in Kharkiv. This happened one day after a very destructive missile strike in Hroza, where another child and at least 51 other people were killed. There are still two kids and two grown-ups who cannot be found after the attack in Hroza.

It’s hard to believe that people are capable of doing such things. The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, said that Russians attacked a grocery store and a cafe in Hroza village in the Kharkiv region. “This attack is really mean and doesn’t make any sense, like the war started by RF (the Russian Federation),” she said.

On Friday, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba stated that the attacks on Kharkiv and Hroza were terrible acts that demonstrate the need for ongoing and increased international support for Ukraine.

“Making it weaker would only lead to more acts of violence and violation of human rights like this,” he said.

Russia says it does not attack innocent people or places where regular people live.

  • Ground soiled with blood after horrific village attack in Ukraine

Ground soiled with blood after horrific village attack in Ukraine

The village of Hroza is usually small, but today there are a lot of cars and people. Something important must have happened.

After driving for a long time through Ukraine’s never-ending countryside, seeing this is shocking.

A ballistic missile is very powerful, and it’s not always easy to see where it landed right away.

Even though there is still a smell of something burning in the air, when you go around a corner, you see the walls that are left of a café and grocery shop that used to be there.

The missile hit a funeral where many people from the village were present. This was because the son wanted to rebury his father, who had been killed and buried in a different place that was controlled by someone else last year.

Now, not only him and his wife, but also 49 other people are gone – nearly 20% of Hroza’s population died all at once.

According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, every family living in the village in the north-eastern Kharkiv region has been impacted.
The café and grocery shop are surprisingly still standing. Different designs on the wallpaper show that most of the building is no longer visible.

Medical teams left latex gloves on the nearby playground where they found most of the bodies.

You can still see blood marks on the ground.

Spookily, the swings and slide remain in place. Innocent symbols standing out in a sad and desperate situation.

There is a body covered with something lying next to some candles on a tractor tire. A tribute to the 52 people who tragically lost their lives yesterday.

We see Andriy as we travel along a rough road nearby. He says his wife Lyubov was at the funeral gathering yesterday afternoon, but he doesn’t know where she is now.

Andriy was away from home while working.

“He says we can’t locate her. ” We don’t know if she is dead or alive. We are confused about what to do.

Lyubov’s dad went to the police station to give his DNA so they could find out who she is.
The local attorney strongly believes this attack was intentional. The clear use of a powerful missile, which can hit targets with accuracy, supports that statement.

Locals also support this claim by saying that the village usually avoids getting bombed like other nearby settlements do.

But Ukraine’s defense ministry says that Russia caused the attack and there were no military objectives in that area.

This attack was probably driven by the funeral gathering of a Ukrainian soldier.

The prosecutor wants to show me a video he recorded on his phone when he got here yesterday. “It’s quite difficult to watch, but he said that people need to see it. ”

This attack affects more than just the area where it happened, even though there are only 300 people living there.

Ukraine cyber-conflict: Hacking groups promise to end the cyberwar in Ukraine

The two biggest hacktivist groups involved in the Ukraine conflict have promised to reduce their cyber-attacks and follow new rules set by a war watchdog organization.

On Wednesday, the Red Cross made a list of rules for civilian hackers.

It was called the “Geneva Code of cyber-war”, but at first people said it wouldn’t work.

However, right now hackers from Ukraine and Russia are saying that they will follow the guidelines.

Since Ukraine was invaded, there have been many cyber-attacks that have disrupted public services in both Ukraine and Russia, causing different levels of damage.

Hacktivist groups have been using basic methods of cyber-attack, but they have managed to temporarily disrupt banks, companies, pharmacies, hospitals, railway networks, and government services for citizens of Ukraine and Russia.

Hacktivists on both sides have been enjoying causing problems for regular people because there aren’t many easy targets in the government or military. They often gather angry messages from people who have been affected by their attacks on social media.

Hacker groups promise to follow the ICRC rules, so they won’t harm innocent people with cyber-attacks.

Talking to the BBC, the head of the well-known pro-Russian hacking group Killnet stated that he agrees to the conditions and regulations set by the Red Cross. This is considered as Killnet’s first move towards achieving peace.

Killmilk, also known as Killnet’s founder, created a Telegram group right after his country was invaded. Currently, he has 90,000 people following his group.

Killmilk has shared videos of himself peeing on the flags of Ukraine and Nato. The group he belongs to has been known for frequently causing small disturbances and attacking Ukrainian targets.
The group has been accused of being closely connected to the Kremlin, but they have always said that this is not true.

In April, the National Cyber Security Centre in the UK warned that groups like Killnet are a new threat to Ukraine and its allies. They also told UK businesses that these groups are increasingly launching attacks.

If Killnet does what it promised, then the cyber-attacks on civilian targets will stop, including those of Ukraine’s friends.

The IT Army of Ukraine also mentioned that it will obey the ICRC’s eight guidelines.

The group, which has 160,000 people on its Telegram channel, also goes after public services like trains and banks.

The group’s spokesperson said they will try their best to follow the rules, even though it might put them at a disadvantage compared to their opponents. The spokesperson also mentioned that attacking healthcare targets has always been deeply unacceptable.

This news suggests that there might be a big decrease in the number of cyber attacks since groups will focus on attacking only official or military targets.

However, other hacktivist groups supporting different patriotic or ethical causes worldwide informed the BBC that they would not comply with the rules in any way.

The ICRC made eight rules to stop the chaos that has gotten worse during the cyber conflict in Ukraine. They said that many people are joining cyber-gangs that support their country, which is something that has not happened before.

  • Russian missile strike affected every household in every Ukrainian community – Mayor Terekhov

Russian missile strike affected every household in every Ukrainian community – Mayor Terekhov

Russia attacked the city of Kharkiv with missiles on Friday morning, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

He said on Ukrainian TV that a 10-year-old boy died when a house was hit. Over 20 other people got hurt.

The mayor also said that it is probable that Russia used Iskander missiles in the recent attack.

People from Hroza village were at a burial ceremony for a Ukrainian soldier from their village when a missile hit on Thursday.

The news agency, Interfax-Ukraine, reported that the man’s wife, son, and daughter-in-law were all killed, according to the local prosecutor, Dmytro Chubenko.

The soldier was originally buried in Dnipro, but his family wanted to move his body and bury him in his hometown.

Officials said that the people who were at the service were sitting down to eat when the missile struck the café, which also acted as a grocery store, in the village.

Speaking on Ukrainian TV, Mr Klymenko said that before the Russian attack, Hroza had a population of 330 people.

He said that every family and household had at least one person at the wake.

The initial information we have says that an Iskander missile hit the building, the minister said.

The leader of the Kharkiv region, Oleh Syniehubov, said that the attack was one of the most violent crimes in the area.

“He said that twenty percent of the village has died in a terrorist attack. ”

The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that the act was so terrible that it couldn’t even be described as beastly, as that would be an insult to animals.

Starting from Friday, there will be three days of mourning in the Kharkiv region.
Maria Avdeeva, a security analyst and journalist from Ukraine, spoke to BBC Radio 4’s World Tonight. She suggested that someone might have informed the Russian military about the wake.

“She said that we can assume that someone told others about where and when these people are meeting. ”

In simpler words, the Russian propaganda channels are spreading false information about the funeral. They are saying that there were military gatherings, but that’s not true because it was mostly a ceremony for regular people.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the attack showed how far Russian forces are willing to go into evil actions. He made these comments after meeting Mr Zelensky before at a summit for the European Political Community. The summit was created last year as a response to the invasion of Ukraine.

The White House spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre, said the strike was terrible and showed why it was crucial for Ukraine to keep getting help from other countries.

The situation happened when many people in the US House of Representatives are starting to disagree with giving more money to Ukraine.

The Kupyansk district has been in the middle of fighting between Russian and Ukrainian armies since Russian President Vladimir Putin started his big attack on Ukraine in February last year.

It was an important place where Russian forces got their supplies when the war started, but Kyiv took it back in September 2022 after fighting for many months.

  • Russian missile did not hit any military targets in a Ukrainian hamlet – Officials

Russian missile did not hit any military targets in a Ukrainian hamlet – Officials

A Ukrainian police official said that a village was hit by a Russian missile strike on Thursday, but there were no military targets there. This was one of the worst attacks on civilians since the conflict started, and the president of Ukraine called it inhuman and deliberate.

The military from Moscow attacked a café and store in Hroza, a town near the city of Kupiansk in Ukraine. They used a very strong ballistic missile called Iskander, according to Ukrainian officials. This attack resulted in the deaths of 51 people, including a young boy who was only 6 years old.

Pictures showed emergency workers walking through a lot of destroyed debris after the attack. This level of destruction hasn’t been seen since a Russian attack on a train station in Kramatorsk in 2022, where over 60 people died.

In a small community of 330 people, the number of people who died is very high. It means that out of every six residents, one person passed away.

Everyone who lives here are locals, and they are also regular people. There is no military equipment or vehicles at all. “All the people who were killed or injured were innocent civilians,” Sergey Bolvinov, the main investigator from Kharkiv’s regional police, explained to CNN in Hroza.

Investigators and forensic teams worked all night going through the debris, trying to count and recognize the bodies. The explosion was so powerful that many of the bodies were badly damaged. This information was reported by a CNN team at the location.

A man from the area whose wife died in the attack was seen kneeling beside her, feeling very upset and unable to talk or move away from her. Afterwards, he assisted the people in charge of emergency services in placing her body onto a truck so it could be transported elsewhere.

Bolvinov announced that they have identified the bodies of 35 victims up until now.

He said he believes that in the future, we will have enough evidence to catch and punish the Russian military who are responsible. He also mentioned that they are looking into the attack as a breach of war laws and customs.

There were new Russian bomb attacks in Kharkiv on Friday. Sadly, one child died when a building collapsed. The mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, said that the strikes were only targeting civilian buildings.

Officials in Ukraine think that the attack included two Iskander missiles, which are the same type used in the Hroza strike.

In a message on Telegram, Terekhov said that a tall building with three floors was destroyed and two buildings with apartments were harmed, but that two individuals were saved by the emergency team.

Oleh Syniehubov, who is in charge of the Kharkiv region’s military administration, said that a total of 16 individuals were hurt, including a baby who is 11 months old. The boy who passed away was 10 years old, he stated.

Many people came together at a cafe in Hroza on Thursday to mourn the death of a Ukrainian soldier from the area. Suddenly, a missile hit the building and completely destroyed it, according to officials from Ukraine.

The soldier was originally buried in a city called Dnipro. However, his family wanted to move his remains to the village where he grew up. This information was shared by Dmytro Chubenko, who works for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, in an interview with a Ukrainian news outlet called RBC. The explosion caused the death of some of the soldier’s family, including his son, according to Chubenko.

Ukrainian officials said Hroza was attacked by a missile called Iskander. This missile can travel a short distance and carry a warhead weighing between 500 and 700 kilograms.

Bolvinov said that Iskander is a very large missile. The building is completely ruined or wrecked. There was a lot of noise and confusion because many people were in the same room at that time.

After the attack, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, repeated his request for more air defenses from friends. He said that without additional support, it is difficult to keep people safe, especially with the expected bombings in the upcoming winter.

There isn’t anything written that can prevent such bad things from happening. However, there is protection against attacks from the air. There are big guns. These are our weapons. We have strong vehicles. Zelensky said that we have strong soldiers who are defending against Russian attacks.

We want the Russian acts of terror to be unsuccessful. And the world has what is needed to make sure of this,” he said. The most important thing is working together as one. The most important thing is to have faith in freedom and keep life safe.

During meetings in Granada, Spain, Ukrainian President Zelensky discussed Ukraine’s air defense needs with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Zelensky expressed his belief that significant progress has been made in obtaining the necessary support.

He said Ukraine will get six Hawk systems from Spain, and Germany will help provide Kyiv with another Patriot system because it is the only system that can handle such threats and attacks.

The White House said that the attack is another reason why Congress should give more aid to Ukraine.

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre shared a scary story about going to the grocery store with your kids and witnessing a horrifying explosion. She then asked Congress for more money to respond to such incidents.

She made these comments during a time of political chaos in Congress, the part of government that makes laws, and a shortage of ammunition among NATO countries. The lack of ammunition puts the supply of military aid to Kyiv at risk.

Hroza is a place that is about 40 kilometers away from where the war is happening near Kupiansk. Kupiansk is a city in Kharkiv that was taken over by the Russian forces at the beginning of the war, but the Ukrainians were able to free it a year ago.

The Ukrainian army has been trying to stop the progress made by Moscow. Kyiv is an important city for strategic reasons. It helps stop Russia from getting to the Oskil River, which is easier to cross than other areas further south.

  • At least 51 people are killed in a Russian strike in north-east Ukraine

A military attack from Russia in the northeastern part of Ukraine resulted in the death of at least 51 individuals, according to officials.
The attack took place in a village called Hroza, which is close to Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region.

A six-year-old boy was one of the people who died when the attack occurred at 1:15 pm local time.
Villagers from Hroza came together at a nearby cafe to mourn the death of someone from their community, according to reports.

In a message on Telegram, the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of “genocidal aggression. ”
Videos of rescuers looking for dead bodies and climbing over debris have been shared from the Kharkiv area.

According to Reuters, this video is from Hroza.

The people shown in this video are the same as the ones in other videos that support what happened after the attack.
Europe is blocking Russia like a wall, said Vladimir Putin in his yearly speech at the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi earlier.

The leader of Russia said that the Western sanctions against Moscow because of Ukraine have harmed the European economy, while the economies of the US and Asia have become stronger in comparison.

Putin said that Russia is not isolating itself from Europe.

  • UK fears Russia may attack civilian ships and then blame Ukraine

The British government is warning that Russia might start attacking civilian ships and then blame Ukraine for it.

Last month, people who are in charge of gathering information said that the Russian government’s attempt to attack a cargo ship with a missile in the Black Sea is just the start.

According to the Foreign Office, Russia may continue to use sea mines near ports to attack non-military ships carrying important items like grains.

Referring to disclosed intelligence information, the department stated that Russia probably wants to avoid openly attacking civilian ships in the Black Sea. Instead, they prefer to wrongly accuse Ukraine for any assaults on these vessels.

The UK wants to show Russia’s tactics in order to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

The Black Sea is surrounded by countries like Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, and Georgia.
In August, Ukraine asked the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization (IMO) to create a safe path for ships stuck in ports to pass through as a gesture of humanity.

Ukraine’s navy said yesterday that it anticipates twelve cargo ships to come through, which is more than normal.

Vladimir Putin is paying attention to this small area of the sea because he wants to stop Ukraine from selling its grain, according to the Home Office.

The foreign secretary, James Cleverly, said that Russia’s harmful actions of attacking civilian ships in the Black Sea show that Putin does not care about innocent people’s lives or the needs of those who are most at risk in the world.

The whole world is paying attention, and we can easily see that Russia is trying to unfairly accuse Ukraine for their attacks. We and our friends are together against Putin and his efforts to hurt Ukraine, which will also hurt the rest of the world.

The Home Office said that Russia’s strategy in the Black Sea involves a lot of aggression.

And they have their own explanations. Around 22 million tons of grain is trapped inside the country due to a blockade during a war.

Ukraine produces a lot of food, especially grain. To make sure it can sell its crops overseas by ship, an agreement was made.

The agreement, called the Black Sea Grain Initiative, ended in July. It was organized by the United Nations and Turkey.

A short time after, Russia decided not to continue with the deal. This had a big impact on worldwide food prices and put at risk the lives of people who were already hungry, as well as those who were struggling to afford the high cost of living.

British officials think that the Russian president’s request to cancel the agreement caused 300,000 tons of grain to be wasted. This much grain could have fed 1,300,000 individuals.

Since then, the Home Office said, Moscow has been focusing more on attacking Ukrainian ports and civilian buildings, such as 130 harbors in Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Reni.

The department said: ‘We are working with Ukraine and other partners to make shipping safer. We still strongly recommend that British ships in Ukrainian ports and waters should be extra cautious because of the danger from Russia.
The UK is using technology to keep an eye on what Russia is doing in the Black Sea. These abilities will allow us to identify and expose any additional Russian attacks on ordinary ships or buildings.

We promise to make sure Ukraine can keep sending its agricultural products out of the country using different ways, such as the “humanitarian corridor”, land routes, and the Danube River.

‘The UK will keep working with Ukraine and many other countries to accomplish this. ‘

  • Allies fighting for Ukraine claim to be out of ammunition

The UK and Nato have warned that Western military powers no longer have enough weapons to give Ukraine for its defense against Russia’s big attack.

Admiral Rob Bauer, the highest-ranking military official in NATO, said at the Warsaw Security Forum that we are in a very difficult situation. We have reached the lowest point and things are not looking good.

He said that governments and defense manufacturers need to increase production at a faster rate now.

Ukraine shoots many shells each day and most of them now come from Nato.

The leader of the military group in Nato said that for many years, the countries in Nato did not spend enough money to properly support their military forces. Now, they are giving weapons to Ukraine, even though they don’t have many weapons left in their storage places.

We need a lot of things in big amounts. The economy we created together over the past 30 years, which focuses on getting things done quickly and efficiently, is good for many things. However, it is not suitable for the military during a war.

The UK Defence Minister, James Heappey, said that the Western military supplies are running low and asked Nato allies to spend 2% of their country’s wealth on defence, as they had promised to do.

He asked when is the right time to spend 2% on defense if not when there is a war in Europe.

He also mentioned that the “just-in-time” model does not work when you need to be prepared for the fight tomorrow.

“We can’t give up just because we have less inventory,” Mr. “We need to continue supporting Ukraine tonight, tomorrow, and the following days. ” And if we quit, that doesn’t mean Putin automatically quits.

And that meant, he said, “continuing to help others every day, and making sure we have enough for ourselves again. ”

The obvious problem is that not everyone in the alliance is currently using 2% of their GDP on defense. That should be the minimum amount of money we spend on defence, not the maximum.

He said, “The US is starting to focus more on the alliance from both the east and west. It’s fair for our friends in Congress to see that European countries are spending their fair share of 2% on NATO resources. ”

The Defence Minister of Sweden, Pol Jonson, stated that it is important for Europe to strengthen its defense industry in order to provide ongoing support to Ukraine.

“He said that we are spending a lot of money and using a lot of resources. ”

“And ultimately, I believe it is important for Ukrainians to be able to buy defense equipment from European manufacturers. ” We learned important lessons here about size and quantity, especially when it comes to artillery ammunition.

The UK defence ministry has said that since the invasion began in February 2022, the UK has provided over 300,000 rounds of artillery ammunition. They have also promised to provide “tens of thousands more” by the end of this year.

The US state department says that during the same period, America has given Ukraine more than two million standard 155mm artillery rounds used by Nato.

Kyiv relies heavily on US ammunition, to the point that NATO allies are worried about what might happen if Donald Trump is re-elected as president next year.

They are worried that if Mr. Trump decides to make a deal with Moscow, the US military might not continue to help Ukraine as much as they do now.

The problem is that even though Ukraine is trying to make more ammunition, they are using it up quicker than the Western powers can give them more.

NATO and EU nations have made plans to share knowledge, partner with defense companies, and provide financial support for production.

But it seems like they are still having difficulty fulfilling the requirement.

Experts suggest that Russia is in a better position to boost its economy during times of war and replace its resources.

  • Kharkiv to see first underground school in war-torn Ukraine

The Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, has announced plans for Ukraine’s inaugural underground school to be constructed in the northeastern city.

“Such a shelter will allow thousands of children to continue their in-person education safely even during missile threats,” he said.

Rocket attacks once again struck the Kharkiv region on Monday, underscoring the frequency of such attacks in the area.

Ukraine reports that more than 360 educational facilities have been destroyed, and over 3,000 have sustained damage since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

Unicef, the UN children’s agency, has revealed that only a third of Ukraine’s schoolchildren are currently able to attend in-person classes due to ongoing deadly Russian missile and drone attacks, as well as shelling.

Many of these students have been compelled to attend makeshift classes in underground metro stations and other makeshift shelters, often lacking proper heating.

Recently, the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency noted the challenges faced by many schools in the 27-member bloc in integrating children who have fled the conflict in Ukraine. The agency reported that approximately 1.3 million Ukrainian children are currently residing in the EU.

In Sunday’s post on social media, the Kharkiv mayor announced that “it is here that we plan to build the first underground school in Ukraine”.

Mr Terekhov said the school “will meet the most modern requirements for defensive buildings”.

And he stressed that the city authorities “will not reduce educational expenditure by a single hryvnia [Ukraine’s currency] this year or next year, despite the lack of budget funds”.

The mayor gave no details on when the underground school would open, and how many pupils would be able to study there.

In the previous month, over 1,000 pupils in Kharkiv embarked on their new school year, attending classes at five underground stations that had been transformed into “metro-schools.”

To facilitate their attendance, students are transported to these metro-schools by buses and are divided into two shifts. The first shift commences at 09:00 local time, followed by the second shift at 13:00. Each underground station is equipped with police and rescue personnel to ensure the students’ safety.

  • Man gathers money to send fire engine to Ukraine

A man has raised £20,000 to buy a fire engine for a town in Ukraine after vehicles there were diverted for the war effort.

Bob Frendt from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, delivered medical aid to the town of Volodymyr.

But after learning that people did not have fire trucks because of the war, the 73-year-old man came up with the idea of raising money to buy a new device.

When he bought the fire truck, a company in East Yorkshire donated a second vehicle to send to Ukraine.

Mr. Frendt, a former truck driver, has previously made shipments to the northwestern city, including a 40-ton medical aid trailer, a double-decker station wagon for sorting and Learning materials for a school. He said that during a recent visit, the mayor asked him if he “had a fire truck available.”

Mr Frendt told BBC Radio York: “The central government withdrew fire trucks from all these towns at the start of the war to protect Kiev and other major towns where all the heritage sites are located.”

“I asked what would happen if there was a fire and he said, ‘we just stand there and watch, because we can’t do anything else’.”

    “Terrible” situation

He said he was “appalled” by the situation but doubted he could raise enough money to buy a fire truck.

Mr. Frendt said he was later introduced to the wife of the first Ukrainian killed when his tank exploded during the war.

“His widow is 32 years old, has two young children and they live on the sixth floor.

“I asked what would happen if there was a fire or missile attack [on the building]? She replied ‘we will die because we cannot get out’. So that motivated me. It’s terrible. »

He raised enough money to buy a fire truck, with the support of manufacturer Angloco Limited, who he said gave him a “huge discount” on the purchase of the equipment.

A donation of £10,000 was also made by a man who wanted to contribute to the appeal in memory of his mother.

The fire truck was named Joyce in his honor.

Mr Frendt said chemical company Croda, based in East Yorkshire, donated a second fire truck when it placed an order with a company that manufactures the vehicle. It would take him four days to drive the emergency response vehicle to Volodymyr.

He said these were “specialized” fire engines and the new vehicle would be equipped with a 32 meter high ladder – something he knew would reach the family on the sixth floor of a building.

  • Ukraine: The troops who can’t move from front lines until conflict is resolved

For Ukrainian soldiers in one unit, life on the front line is very difficult. They only get 10 days off per year and there are many soldiers getting injured or killed.
Standing in a place with destroyed buildings, “Jimmy,” a Ukrainian soldier who has been serving in the military for a long time, thought about how he managed to stay alive. He said, “I’m fortunate. in my opinion, war can either protect or harm people. ”

His soldiers believe that the fact Jimmy is still with them, even though he has been injured several times, means he is very lucky.

His group, called the 24th Mechanised Brigade, has been around for a while and is a part of the older Ukrainian army. They have been fighting against the Russians since 2014. However, after the attack in February 2022, the army has grown more than three times its original size, the country has responded by mobilizing, and Jimmy’s unit has completely transformed.

We were in the Donbas, an area in the east known for its old factories, for two weeks in August. The 24th, which now serves there, is stationed between Bakhmut and Horlivka.
We visited the hometown in western Ukraine where the brigade stayed before the war and where lots of their families still live.

Jimmy leads a group of soldiers in the Ukrainian army. The army prefers we call soldiers by their nicknames instead of their real names. Jimmy took on this role as company leader last year. The company usually consists of around 120 soldiers. A police officer told me that none of the 15 leaders in charge of the company at the beginning of the war are still there. They have either been promoted or injured.

Before the war began, the 24th Brigade had slightly more than 2,000 soldiers. They would send their three battalions to the front line in eastern Ukraine for short periods of time. The Ukrainian army has grown to over 7,000 people, including five groups of soldiers, four groups of artillery, one group of tanks, and many other support units.

As more people were called to join the military force, both the experienced soldiers and many new recruits came together. Yurii is a young venture capitalist from Kyiv who is very talented.
At first, Yurii was given a rifle and sent to the infantry. But a few months later, he was moved to a new military team called the “start-up” in the 24th Brigade. This team specialized in flying strike drones. He sat at a table in a children’s playground and showed us new drones. These drones can carry explosives and be flown into vehicles, buildings, or bunkers where the Russians hide.

Yurii said that at first, his mother didn’t believe him when he wanted to join the military. However, when she saw him successfully guiding drones into the enemy’s trenches, she changed her opinion and became proud of him.

For now, they can take only 10 days off each year.

Yurii is different compared to the other men in the 24th. He makes £2,600 ($3,195) per month, with 80% of it being combat pay. However, his earnings from being a civilian are higher.

Yurii, who has a beard and is good at selling business plans, explained to me that our company needs to be more creative than the Russians because they have a lot more drones than us.

One of the officers said that even though Yurii has a lower rank as a private soldier, he is basically in charge of this unit. The pre-2022 army had a different hierarchy compared to the force currently fighting the Russians.

Another reason is that they are now willing to ignore age and other things that used to prevent people from volunteering before 2022. We encountered a sergeant named “Hryb” (which means mushroom) who was given responsibility for a self-moving big gun.

He is an older man, specifically 52 years old, who served in the army over 30 years ago. What does he understand or have knowledge about modern warfare.
The 152mm Akatsiya howitzers used by the 24th Brigade are very old. They are the same type that Hryb used in the Soviet Army in East Germany in the early 1990s.

The shells that we saw them shooting were made 40 years ago, and the crew has given the nickname Babushka or Grandma to the howitzer. Who else would know her old quirks better than Grandpa Hryb.

His family was not happy with his choice to volunteer. Hryb said that they were crying quietly. “They promised to wait for me and told me that they had feelings of love for me. ”

Many Ukrainian families are still facing difficulties and uncertainty as the war continues without any signs of ending.

At a place in Lviv where injured soldiers go to recover, I talked about how some soldiers, who weren’t hurt as badly, find it hard to tell their wives that they want to go back to the battlefront.

Pavlo, one of the patients, told me that a lot of boys, who were still alive but had lost a body part, also lost their families.

The man sadly says that this discussion has also happened in his marriage: “My wife believes I have fulfilled my responsibilities. ” Another man, who got hurt in a minefield during the recent counter-attack, tells me that Ukrainian society hasn’t fully realized how many injured people there are now.

The number of people who have died, gotten injured, or been taken captive might be discouraging others from volunteering. Ukraine does not share official numbers on recruitment.

Where do Ukraine’s soldiers with missing limbs go to rebuild their lives.
American voters: ‘I definitely want Ukraine to win, but. ‘
During the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, maps have been used to monitor the progress of the war.

But, many of the men we filmed who were being trained at Yavoriv and a range near the front were in their 40s, and some were in their 50s. The police officers informed us that there is strong competition among different groups to recruit younger people.

In August, it was found out that many men were paying money or secretly leaving the country to avoid being called up for service. This happened after the officers responsible for the call-up were fired.

Many people who have become unemployed due to the economic crisis and are drawn by the high salary, willingly choose to go to the front line as volunteers.

In the summer, there were efforts to fight back against Russia and free the occupied lands. The Pentagon had high expectations for the Ukrainian military, but the veterans in the 24th Brigade had lower expectations.

“Jimmy said it’s impossible to make a simple and easy breakthrough. ” “We are preparing for a lengthy battle. ”
Another officer from the brigade, who leads one of its battalions, compared the conflict to the Vietnam War, suggesting that it might go on for a long time.

And as the battle continues, the defeat also continues. In Ukraine, it is not allowed to reveal the number of casualties because it is a very sensitive topic. The Pentagon recently said that about 70,000 Ukrainians have died in the war, most of them being soldiers.

Based on our study of social media and old news stories, it seems likely that around 400 people from the 24th Brigade have been lost. Around 120 of these individuals passed away during the conflicts from 2014 until the beginning of 2022, with the rest dying after the Russian incursion.

It has also caught many men, which is a problem for the authorities because they can’t make large-scale exchanges of prisoners.

The wife of a soldier who was captured during a war informed us that only 22 men from the 24th Brigade had come back until now. She also mentioned that all the government departments she contacted gave her the same response, which was to be patient and wait.

When the war ends, there will be many things to discuss and agree upon, including the return of prisoners of war to their home countries. However, the negative consequences and anger from the public over Russia’s actions have made it very difficult for Ukrainian politicians to come to an agreement for a ceasefire or peace agreement that seems like a messy compromise.

We went to a cemetery near Lviv with Natalia Nezhura. She put new flowers on her brother Andrii’s grave. “She said she did everything she could to prevent him from going to the dangerous area. ”
She starts crying as she tells me about how she feels like a failure because she wasn’t able to do it.

She kept Andrii’s call-up papers a secret. When that didn’t work, she used a connection to get him a job as a firearms instructor at the Yavoriv training ground. However, in the end, most of the boys were sent to fight on the front line.

Andrii died earlier this year during the fighting in Bakhmut, while serving in the 24th Brigade. We had a talk near the waving flags of different groups in the military area in Lviv. There were over 2,000 graves in that place.

People who think that experiencing loss and pain would make them want peace will be surprised. When I asked Natalia how she thinks the war should end, she said she wants all Russians to die because she really hates them. She asked how we can talk about peace when they have killed a lot of our people.

For many years, the experienced army kept a fragile peace and sometimes there were small fights near the border with the Russians. However, now everyone is involved in the conflict, and the way the soldiers and families of the 24th Brigade think shows how much the whole society is supporting the war. Only a definite win is seen as acceptable by Ukrainians.

26 Russian drones shot down by Ukraine

Russia bombed a Ukrainian port called Izmail, where they export a lot of grain. The attack hurt two people and caused damage to the buildings and structures there.

A port building, places to store things, and more than 30 trucks and cars were broken in the attack. It lasted for more than two hours, according to Oleh Kiper, the governor of the Odesa region.

The Ukrainian military claims that it destroyed 26 out of the 38 attack drones made in Iran that they believe were sent by Russia.

Moscow has increased its air attacks on ports in Ukraine that are on the Danube River, like Izmail and Reni. This happened because they ended a grain agreement in July that used to protect the export of Ukrainian grains.

On Tuesday, a Russian missile strike caused damage to a local business in the southern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, according to Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul.

A drone from Ukraine attacked Russia’s Kursk, which caused power to be shut off in about seven towns nearby. The governor of the region, Roman Starovoyt, mentioned this on Tuesday.

Earlier, the defence ministry of Russia announced that they used their air defence systems to shoot down a drone that was launched by Ukraine. This happened near the Kursk at approximately 5:30 in the morning.

After many drones were shot down over the area near Ukraine, reports about it started to come out.

Yesterday, Russian missiles were launched at Ukraine’s port city of Odessa while the city’s Jewish community was celebrating Yom Kippur, a holy day.

Fighters attacked the famous Hotel Odessa, which was being used as a place to train soldiers. The fire caused by the attack caused severe damage to the building.

Some people saw Russia shoot many missiles at the Black Sea port for more than an hour. They said it was a constant attack.

  • Speaker of Canada’s House of Commons apologizes after praising war veteran from Ukraine

Speaker of Canada’s House of Commons apologizes after praising war veteran from Ukraine

The speaker for Canada’s House of Commons expressed remorse for commemorating a Ukrainian soldier associated with a Nazi-affiliated faction during World War II.

Speaker Anthony Rota praised 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka during a speech on Friday. Hunka was recognized as both a Ukrainian and Canadian veteran during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the Canadian parliament.

The person speaking praised Hunka as a brave soldier who fought in the First Ukrainian Division. They said Hunka fought to protect Ukraine from the Russian attackers in the past, and still supports the military today.

“I recently found out more information that makes me feel sorry for my choice,” stated Rota in a message his office released on Sunday. He said, “I am very sorry to Jewish communities in Canada and around the world. ”

Many groups that support human rights and the Jewish community have criticized the acknowledgement, stating that Hunka was a part of a Nazi military group called the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS.

According to a statement from Jewish human rights organization B’nai Brith Canada, Hunka, who moved to Canada after being in the 14th Waffen SS, a Nazi group that supported Adolf Hitler during World War II, got a big round of applause from the members of Parliament and senators who were there.

The CEO of B’nai Brith Canada, Michael Mostyn, said in a statement that the parliament’s acknowledgement of Hunka is “extremely shocking. ”

We must not let history be distorted. Canadian soldiers fought and lost their lives in the battle to liberate the world from the cruel and oppressive actions of the Nazis,” Mostyn mentioned.

The 14th Waffen Grenadier Division was a group that was part of the Nazi SS organization. The International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg declared this organization a criminal group because they had done bad things during war, like committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

B’nai Brith criticized the Ukrainian volunteers who joined the military unit for being extreme nationalists who wanted Ukraine to have only one ethnic group and supported the idea of removing other ethnic groups.

The human rights group wants parliament to say sorry.

Rota said he is fully responsible for recognizing Hunka, who he said comes from his voting area.

“I want to emphasize that before I spoke, nobody, not even my fellow parliamentarians or the Ukraine delegation, knew about my intention or the things I was going to say,” Rota explained. “I took this initiative by myself because someone from my area caught my attention. ”

  • US to supply Ukraine with more long-range missiles ‘used in Black Sea fleet attack’

US to supply Ukraine with more long-range missiles ‘used in Black Sea fleet attack’

Reports suggest that the US intends to supply Ukraine with formidable long-range missiles similar to those deployed in the recent assault on the Black Sea Fleet.

This would assist Volodymyr Zelensky’s soldiers in targeting and hitting more places like command centers and hubs in Russia’s front lines.

Yesterday, a missile from Ukraine hit the main building of Russia’s Black Sea navy in the port of Sevastopol in Crimea. This attack caused the death of nine individuals.

A person from the Ukrainian military told the BBC that the attack used Storm Shadow missiles, which are a type of weapon system supplied by Britain and France.

These missiles can go as far as 150 miles, while the GPS rockets called GMLRS that Ukraine uses can only travel about 43 miles.

NBC News says that an anonymous US government official mentioned that President Joe Biden promised to give a few ATACMS missiles to the Ukrainian leader.

The White House is where the two men met last Thursday.

A Russian admiral was badly hurt when a missile hit the navy headquarters, causing the death of nine people.

  • Foreign minister of Russia calls West ’empire of lies’

Foreign minister of Russia calls West ’empire of lies’

Moscow responded on Saturday after a week of discussions about Russia’s war in Ukraine at the UN General Assembly. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke to the delegates and the international press, criticizing the West and calling it an “empire of lies. ”

Lavrov said that many speakers before him have talked about how our planet is changing and a new world order is starting to form.

The future is being shaped by a fight between the majority of the world who want a fairer sharing of wealth and cultural differences, and a small group using neocolonial tactics to stay in power.

Lavrov wouldn’t have been the first person this week to say that old ways of governing the world are slowing down progress on fair treatment for the environment and the economy. But his main concern was about the Western supporters of Ukraine and NATO – a group of countries that came together after World War II to protect Western nations from the Soviet Union.

As the war between Russia and Ukraine carries on, and Western countries like the US and UK provide military aid to Kyiv, Lavrov cautioned that he sees them as being “in a direct war” with Russia.

Lavrov said that we can call this a mix of different types of warfare, but the fact remains the same. He also added that they are actively fighting against us, using the Ukrainians as tools.

Lavrov rejected a peace plan suggested by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky because he believed it couldn’t work.

The plan does not include giving Ukrainian land to Russia or giving up on Kyiv’s attempts to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which are two issues that Moscow disagrees on.

The Russian Foreign Minister also said that Russia would not go back to the Black Sea grain deal because they felt they had been tricked.

Lavrov said the reason we left the deal was that all the things promised to us were lies.

Russia stopped following the agreement made by the UN in July. They had been saying for a while that they were not able to sell enough of their own food. The previously cancelled agreement enabled Ukraine to send grain overseas using ships, despite Russia’s efforts to block their access. This was important because Ukraine needed to sell grain to international markets.

The UN was formed in the 1940s and it still reflects an older time. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council have more power than they should. However, Russia is one of the five powerful countries known as the P5. Russia has gained a lot from the current system, particularly by blocking decisions concerning its conflict in Ukraine.

Ukraine wants to make changes to the UN. They believe that Russia should lose its power to veto decisions and get kicked out of the organization. Ukraine thinks Russia broke an important rule by taking over part of another country’s land.

  • Ukraine asserts Sevastopol attack injured navy officers

Ukraine asserts Sevastopol attack injured navy officers

Ukraine says that the missile attack on the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet in Crimea happened at the same time as a meeting of naval officials.

In a brief statement, the Ukrainian military said that the attack resulted in people being killed and injured but did not give any more information.

On Friday, Moscow announced that one of its military personnel was unaccounted for following the assault.

The fleet, which is located in the city of Sevastopol, is considered to be the strongest navy in Russia.

A person from Ukraine’s military told the BBC that the attack on Friday was done using missiles called Storm Shadows. These missiles come from Britain and France.

The Ukrainian military said on Saturday that they had killed and injured many people from the opposing side, including their leaders, in a recent conflict.

The head of intelligence in Kyiv, Kyrylo Budanov, said that two Russian commanders were seriously hurt in the missile attack.

The BBC cannot confirm many of the things both sides say about what happens in battles.

On Saturday, Sevastopol area was attacked again. The governor of the city, Mikhail Razvozhaev, who was appointed by Russia, said that the remains of a missile that was intercepted by air defenses fell near a pier.

He also informed the residents that he was going to examine bomb shelters because some people had complained that they were difficult to get into or not in good condition.

He wrote on Telegram, asking everyone to please stop spreading panic and making our enemies happy. Panic is what they want the most.
Recently, Kyiv’s forces have been attacking Russian forces in Crimea almost every day.

Last week, Ukraine’s navy said that they have disabled an S-400 air defense missile system that was protecting the peninsula. This has made it harder for Russia to defend against new attacks.

The day before, a big Russian boat and underwater vehicle were harmed in an attack that Ukraine said included Storm Shadow missiles too.

The attacks on Crimea are very important in terms of strategy and symbolism.

The Black Sea fleet is not only used by Russia to attack Ukraine, but it is also a very important symbol of Russia’s long-standing military presence in the region.

The base was located in Crimea before Russia took it over unlawfully in 2014.

  • US to provide long-range missiles to Ukraine – reports

US to provide long-range missiles to Ukraine – reports

US President Joe Biden wants to give Ukraine powerful missiles that can reach far distances in order to help them defend against attacks. This information has been reported by US media.

According to US officials who know about the matter, Ukraine will receive some missiles called ATACMS. These missiles have a range of up to 190 miles (300km).

This would allow Kyiv to attack important Russian locations far away from where the fighting is happening.

On Friday, a Ukrainian missile hit Russia’s Black Sea fleet headquarters in annexed Crimea.

An official from the Ukrainian military said to the BBC that the attack in Sevastopol used Storm Shadow missiles. These missiles are given to Ukraine by Britain and France, showing how important Western weapons are to Ukraine.

These missiles can travel a distance of a little over 150 miles.
Unnamed US officials said that President Biden told the Ukrainian President that Kyiv would receive a few ATACMS missiles. The two leaders saw each other at the White House on Thursday.

The WSJ says that the weapons will be sent soon.

The Washington Post reports that Ukraine will receive ATACMS with cluster bomblets instead of just one warhead, according to some people familiar with the discussions.

The American media reports have not been confirmed by either the US or Ukraine.

After the discussions between Biden and Zelensky, Washington said they will provide Ukraine with $325m (£265m) in military aid. This aid includes weapons and ammunition. Next week, Kyiv will receive America’s Abrams tanks.

However, both presidents have avoided giving direct answers on the ATACMS problem.

“I think that we will be able to agree on most of the things we talked about with President Biden yesterday,” Mr Zelensky said on Friday while visiting Canada.

Yes, it will only take time. He said that not everything relies on Ukraine.

Kyiv has been trying for months to get ATACMS to strengthen their violent counter-attack in the southern region.

This means that important Russian paths for supplies, positions of command, and other important places would be close enough to attack. Moscow would be forced to move them farther away, which would make it more difficult to give supplies and weapons to their troops.

According to Ukraine, the Russian military positions in the areas they have taken control of in southern Ukraine, including Crimea, could be easily attacked.

Russian President Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine in February 2022, and the Biden administration was unsure about giving Ukraine new weapons at first.

But its position has changed a lot, with Kyiv now having powerful long-range rocket systems called Himars and defensive missiles called Patriot air defence missiles.

However, President Biden has been unsure about sending ATACMS missiles because he is concerned that it might increase the chances of a conflict with Russia, who has nuclear weapons.

  • Dozens killed and injured in attack on Black Sea Fleet headquarters – Ukraine Special Forces

Dozens killed and injured in attack on Black Sea Fleet headquarters – Ukraine Special Forces

On Saturday, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces reported that they attacked Russia’s Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol. This attack caused many deaths and injuries, including high-ranking officials.

According to a message on Telegram, the Special Operations Forces (SOF) announced a planned attack called “Crab Trap” that was timed to happen during a meeting of important members of Russia’s Navy. The attack resulted in many people being killed or injured, including the high-ranking leaders of the navy.

The Special Operations Forces were able to attack the Black Sea Fleet headquarters at the right moment with accuracy. The Russian Navy’s top officials were having a meeting in the city of Sevastopol, which was temporarily occupied.

The information was sent to the Air Force to carry out an attack. The information about the attack will be shared when it can be done. The outcome is many dead and injured military members, including the top officials of the fleet.

It said, “We are going ahead. ”

Ukraine has not given any more information or proof about the number of people affected in the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense has only stated that a Russian soldier is missing after the missile attack on Friday.

  • Poland’s conflict with Ukraine infuriated many people in Europe

Poland’s conflict with Ukraine infuriated many people in Europe

Europe’s help for Ukraine was surprised this week when Poland, who had always been a strong supporter of Ukraine, said they would no longer send weapons to them.

The decision was made because Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed dissatisfaction with Warsaw’s ongoing ban on Ukrainian grain imports. This is another example of Poland’s government becoming more confrontational towards Kyiv, especially as they approach a close general election.

The political drama has brought up some important questions, the most important of which is, will Europe’s strong resistance against Russia’s full-scale invasion weaken now.

How did a problem with buying grain turn into a big argument between countries. The European Union stopped getting grain from Ukraine for a little while in May, to make sure farmers in Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia could sell their grain for a good price. The EU stopped the ban last week, making the countries angry. They promised to keep the restrictions, which led to protests in Poland.

Poland is having a national election on October 15. The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) is expected to do badly in this election. Anyone who pays attention to European politics knows that farming is very important. Farmers are people who play an important role in politics and have reasons to take action. Citizens also have concerns about having enough food, although sometimes they care too much or in ways that don’t make sense. The PiS party needs the support of people who live in rural areas to stay in control.

So, it’s understandable that the Polish government wants to do something attention-seeking and patriotic. But things got worse on Tuesday when Zelensky said at the UN general assembly that it is concerning to see some of our friends in Europe portraying solidarity as a political show and making a big deal out of something small.

The Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, said on social media the next day that Poland is no longer giving weapons to Ukraine because they are now supplying their own country.

Poland changed its stance and promised to still send the weapons it had promised before. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the words of his prime minister were understood in the most negative way possible.

The argument brought up important questions about how Europe stays together.

But, most European officials, including those from Poland, don’t think there will be a big change in how they support Ukraine.

A senior European defense source said, “This is mainly about elections and farmers are a strong support group for PiS. ” Poland will keep giving weapons to Ukraine. For however long it is needed. “I’m completely sure about that,” says a representative from NATO. A European Union official said that Poles really want Ukraine to win the war because if they don’t, Russia (their biggest enemy) will be able to attack them directly. However, because of the upcoming elections, Poland wants to show their strength and power.

The anger towards Poland is very strong, even though some believe the noise about it is just for people in the country.

A person from the EU said to CNN that Ukraine has already given Poland a solution for their grain problem. That’s why they’re really angry at Poland. There are 24 countries who have been unfairly treated by Poland for the past 18 months because they did not provide enough support to Ukraine.

The same feeling was expressed by people from NATO, EU institutions, and European countries.

The person is saying that the contempt towards Poland can be understood by looking at the elections, the nationalist goals of the government, and their strong opinions on topics like grain, migration, and other things they consider as a danger to Poland.

They also criticize Brussels and the EU when it suits their plans. This is a desperate attempt to get people to vote – when you don’t have anything important to offer, you make up an enemy and blame them for problems at home to hide your failures in domestic policy.

The most important thing to consider from all of this is how it may affect Ukraine in the future. The Western countries are trying very hard to include Ukraine in their organizations. The country is working to become a member of both the EU and NATO, and everyone supports this decision.

However, there are already limitations and requirements that come with that support. Most countries in the EU agree that in order to include Ukraine, there must be significant changes in how the EU works.

If Ukraine were to become a member, the money that is currently given to countries for things like farming would instead be given to Ukraine. See if Polish farmers will buy it.

The current EU structures would also allow its newest member to have a lot of power in the institutions, such as the parliament and council of member states.

Some members of NATO don’t like the idea of a country that is currently at war being able to use the article 5 mechanism. This mechanism is when allies are obligated to help each other.

Many NATO countries don’t want to spend money on defense, even for themselves, let alone for each other.

Poland’s aggressive behavior enables countries who feel they have been unjustly pressured, especially by Poland, to stand up for Ukraine. These countries can now question the wisdom of the West providing extensive support to a country that is not even a part of their alliance.

European officials are really angry about what happened this week because it gives Russian President Vladimir Putin a chance to spread propaganda.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that there are some conflicts between Warsaw and Kyiv when asked about the argument. We think that these tensions will get worse.

People say that when Russia spreads false information, it benefits Russia but harms the West. Fights between Western countries make it seem like they are not united, and when they are not united, it benefits Russia.
