In a recent interview with Der Madking TV, Mary disclosed the details of her departure from her role with the Highlife singer, citing a misunderstanding as the cause.
Mary explained that the rift arose when she was assigned an errand by Eugene but inadvertently made a mistake. Despite residing in Eugene’s house in Pokuase, Mary recounted being sent to deliver a package to someone in Cantonments.
However, due to a slight cognitive distortion, she ended up at Madina and then Nkrumah Circle, feeling dizzy throughout the journey.
After spending the entire day on this unintended trip, Kuami Eugene confronted Mary about the situation. He presented her with two options: a reduction in salary from GH₵600 to GH₵400 or returning to her mother’s house.
Initially choosing the first option, Mary later reconsidered and ultimately decided to leave the house.
“When I started, Kuami Eugene paid me 400 cedis every month. Then he was increasing my salary each year by 100 cedis. So, at a point, I was paid 600 cedis.
“He sent me to give something to his female friend and I wasted a lot of time on this journey. I really wasted time; I won’t lie about it.
“When I got back, he got really furious; he complained that should anything happen to me, Ghanaians would hold him responsible. But in all honesty, I felt dizzy after spending long hours in traffic that day.
Tension Arises as Kuami Eugene and House Helper Go Separate Paths
“I was confused and my brain was distorted. So, I picked up a car from Cantonments to Madina and then circled instead of going straight to Kuami Eugene’s house.
“When I got home, I explained why I had kept waiting, and he gave me two options. He was furious. He said either I pack my things and leave the house or he’ll reduce my salary to 400 cedis. I chose to stay and take the 400 cedis because I am the breadwinner of my family. But later, I left,” she stated.
Not too long after excerpts of Mary’s interview went viral, Kuami Eugene took to Twitter to throw a subtle jab.
“Nipa bi y3 Cobra,” an Akan language, translates to “Some humans are just like a cobra.”
Arsenal standout Bukayo Saka acknowledges the challenge of being consistently man-marked while playing for the team.
The English international winger has observed a trend of facing double coverage in nearly every game this season, prompting him to actively seek solutions by reviewing his own performances.
Even in the recent 1-0 victory against Brentford on Saturday, Saka encountered the familiar scenario of having at least two opposing defenders closely monitoring him.
Despite this intense attention, the talented Englishman demonstrated his resilience, contributing to Kai Havertz’s decisive goal in the 89th minute.
Speaking to reporters, the 22-year-old said, “I feel like a lot of games I’m facing a double team with two guys on me and it’s the same for Gabi (Martinelli). It’s happening in every game. I keep watching all my games again, trying to find a solution and what I can do better.
“In the end, I just feel like I need to understand that this is how it’s going to be this season and I just need to deal with it and keep finding a way like I did today. That’s what I need to keep doing.
“The managers know a bit more about how we play and it’s up to us to adapt to each game and find a solution. Of course, each game is different but we know that we can be a lot better.
“We’re especially working on breaking teams down, but we’re still getting really good results and we’re at the top of the league. So we can be really happy.”
The Gunners currently boast of having an incredible defensive record in the ongoing season, as they are the team to have conceded the least number of goals (10, in the Premier League thus far.
With nine victories and just one defeat in 13 matches, Mikel Arteta’s team currently holds the top spot in the league table, leading by one point over Manchester City.
ThePremier League leaders are set to confront Lens in the Champions League on Wednesday, followed by a league clash against Wolves on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing the managerial role for the Brazil national team, viewing Carlo Ancelotti as the ideal candidate to lead Real Madrid.
Despite ongoing speculation linking Ancelotti with the Brazil position when his contract with Real Madrid concludes next year, AS Roma’s Mourinho has expressed his interest in managing Selecao after his contract with the Italian club concludes at the end of the current season, as per UOL.
At 60 years old, Mourinho believes that the opportunities with top European clubs have closed for him, prompting consideration of a future role with a national team.
In a recent TG1 interview, the former Chelsea manager recommended that Ancelotti continue his tenure at Los Blancos, emphasising that the Italian is well-suited to manage a club of such stature.
He was quoted saying, “I think only a madman would leave Real Madrid when he is still wanted. I am certain that at the first sign from Florentino [Perez, Madrid’s president], Carlo will remain, because he is perfect for Real Madrid and Real Madrid are perfect for him.”
When Rai2 asked if there was a possibility that the Portuguese manager could move back to his former club in Spain, he said, “Me at Real Madrid? When you have a super coach, why should you think of another? Knowing Don Florentino [Perez, Madrid president], and I know him very well, he is a super intelligent man.
“If he reads the press, he has very clear ideas. As a Madridista, as a man who has some white ribs, and as an Ancelottian, I hope that the season goes fantastically and that next season Carlo is still there, because I think he is the perfect coach for Real Madrid.”
During the summer, the AS Roma manager received lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League but opted to decline them, choosing to uphold his commitment to the Giallorossi by honouring his existing contract.
Regarding the potential departureof Carlo Ancelotti from the Spanish giants, there is speculation that Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is a leading candidate to succeed him.
The legendary manager, however, remains dedicated to his current club and is currently concentrating on their upcoming Europa League match against Servette on Thursday.
In a moment of jubilation, Jose Mourinho expressed his joy by embracing a ball boy on the sidelines after AS Roma secured a late victory against Udinese on Sunday.
The Giallorossi initially took the lead with Gianluca Mancini’s first-half strike, but Florian Thauvin’s 57th-minute equaliser added suspense to the match.
In the 81st minute, Paulo Dybala’s goal restored Roma’s lead, and Stephan El Shaarawy sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute.
Mourinho’s excitement reached its peak after El Shaarawy’s decisive goal, prompting him to dash towards the Roma bench and share a bear hug with the first person in sight, who happened to be a ball boy.
Speaking to reporters after the match, the legendary manager said, “I celebrated the goal that closed the match… There was a kid, but luckily it wasn’t a woman or a policeman. He was the first one I saw in front of me!”
AS Roma has successfully ended their winless streak, ascending to the fifth position in Serie A with 21 points from 13 matches. Their next challenge awaits in the Europa League as they face Servette on Thursday.
Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has shared her extraordinary experience during a seven-day coma in the hospital.
Describing the fascinating encounter, Agradaa recounted entering a trance that led her to a grand kingdom with an immense crowd and a queen mother.
The founder of the Heaven Way church detailed standing amidst the crowd before the queen mother, who presented her with an offer: immense wealth in exchange for Agradaa’s allegiance and that of her followers. According to Agradaa, the queen mother took a keen interest in her due to her substantial following on Earth.
“I saw a huge city like Accra which had buildings on it. I stood there, in my hospital attire. I stood in the midst of people and those who saw me were a lot more than those on this earth. We were waiting for the queen mother’s arrival. I stood Infront of the queen mother and she stared at me.
“She presented an option to me; that I will be given plenty of wealth, cars, houses, and every other material thing. She said everyone around me including members of my church will be under them.
“She said they have seen that I have a lot of followers sothey need me in this kingdom,” she narrated during her post wedding thanksgiving service at her church.
Agradaa, however stood her grounds and rejected the offer.
“I said to myself, God has given me everything. I told myself that even if I should accept these things, I will still die. I thought about a lot of things and what finally came out of my mouth was that if I die, I die for Christ,” she responded.
She said her interesting encounter has given her a different view of life adding that a lot of things do not interest her anymore.
“At my wedding, my children were popping champagne, there were a lot of nice things that were presented to me but it didn’t move me. I was scared to even consume anything and I am more careful now because of the things I saw with my eyes when I was in coma,” he added.
Agradaa also narrated how she ended up in the hospital about two days to the initial date to her wedding.
“God did not allow me to die. He saved me. I remember when my husband and I fixed the initial date of our wedding, 18th November, two to three days before the event, l slumped and fell just after stepping out of the bathroom. I spent seven days in coma, kept under oxygen. I went blank immediately and fell and wasn’t conscious until after seven days…And within those days, what I saw with my eyes? Only God knows. When I got to church, I had since been thanking God for not allowing me to die.
“They first took me to Good Shepherd hospital; it did not work. Then I ended up at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC). The doctor told my father that they will try their best but they should go and pray. The marriage is a bonus to what God has done for me. Now my entire body from head to toe belongs to him,” she added.
Erik ten Hag is confident that Luke Shaw’s return to action can bring “stability” to Manchester United.
The Dutch manager provided updates on Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund as well.
Ten Hag shared that Luke Shaw, who has completed his rehabilitation from a thigh injury that kept him sidelined for three months, is now prepared for competitive play.
Additionally, Onana has successfully recovered from a groin injury sustained during the World Cup qualifier against Mauritius and is ready to face Everton.
However, the availability of Hojlund remains uncertain.
He recently tweaked his right hamstring during the Luton match, leading to his withdrawal from the Denmark squad for fixtures against Slovenia and Northern Ireland.
Speaking to reporters, Ten Hag said: “Luke Shaw will be available for Sunday; he will be in the squad. You can mention many things. You can mention his physicality, his technical ability, and his leadership; it’s clear.
“For a long time in the season, we didn’t have a left-back. We are very happy he’s back; it’s a good sign. He will help us be more stable; I am sure of that.”

When asked about the status of Hojlund and Onana, he added, “Rasmus is a close finish. He’s training; he finished outside. He’s making very good steps and we have to wait until tomorrow before we make a final decision. Andre is okay; he stepped into training today, and he’s good.”
Manchester United is facing ahectic schedule with three games in the upcoming week, beginning with a trip to Merseyside on Saturday. Subsequently, they will embark on a longer journey to Turkey to take on Galatasaray, and upon their return, they will head to Newcastle for another away fixture.
Despite the challenging schedule, Ten Hag assured that his team is well-prepared for the upcoming rigors, and he has already devised a plan to navigate through it.
“Well, we got started today early and then we see how condensed the week ahead is with three away games in six days,” Ten Hag said. “We have to deal with that. We have a plan and have studied for it. We’ve made the players aware that they have to take responsibility. It’s about cooperation.”
Ten Hag has received a boost with the return of Shaw and Onana.
He is optimistic that the Red Devils will capitalise on their comeback, securing maximum points in the next three fixtures to stabilise their position in bothEnglish and European competitions.

Erik ten Hag has received a warning that his tenure as Manchester United manager may not last the season due to ongoing conflicts with both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
Ten Hag is facing challenges this season, with Manchester United currently in sixth place and several players seemingly sidelined.
Notably, Jadon Sancho has been excluded from the first-team squad following a widely publicised dispute with the manager.
Additionally, reports suggest that Ten Hag’s relationship with defender Raphael Varane is severely strained.
Given these issues, Jose Enrique, a former Liverpool star, believes that Ten Hag is at risk of being dismissed before the season concludes. He told Grosvener Sport: “I do not think Erik ten Hag will finish this season at Manchester United. If they do keep him, it will be because they want to stick with a long-term project and they believe that he can change things. But many players within the club are already against him.
“Raphael Varane is against him and Ten Hag has done a couple of things that haven’t gone down well with Jadon Sancho, Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo in the past. All these situations have arisen in a short period of time because he still hasn’t been at the club for that long.”
Manchester United’s dip in form has resulted in a five-point gap behind Tottenham, who currently occupy the fourth position. Enrique does not envision a viable path for the club to secure qualification for the Champions League.
The Spaniard added: “I think he has lost the dressing room. I’m not sure how long Manchester United will keep him, but I don’t think they have any chance of making the top four this season. The players should still go out and perform regardless, but it’s true that when you like the manager you play better for them. You want to win for them as well as for yourself and the fans.”
United return to action this weekend against Everton and will be desperate to get another win under their belt, having beaten Luton 1-0 before the international break.
Ghanaian highlife sensationBlack Sherif has indicated his interest in returning to school to pursue a course in fashion design.
In a post on his social media account, Black Sherif expressed his desire to release his album and then focus on furthering his education in fashion design.
“I need to get this album out and go back to school to learn how to make clothes,” he posted.
His post, however, was met with support from many followers who admired his dedication to both his music and education.
Many of Blacko’s fans expressed their eagerness as they awaited his next album, while others applauded the 21-year-old’s commitment to expanding his knowledge and skills; some, however, advised him to engage in other business ventures like farming.
While Black Sherif has not officially announced any plans for an upcoming album, he has been releasing singles throughout 2023, including “Oh No,” “Yaya,” and “Simmer Down.”
Black Sherif said in a recent interview that he is always working on new music and that he has a lot of material that he is ready to share with the world.
According to her, research was done to inform her that fufu contains a cancer-causing agent. The study was carried out ultimately to establish the negative effect of eating fufu.
In the fufu, we found the cancer-causing agent in the soup. The fish used in preparing the soup was smoked. As a fish gets smoked, charred or burned, it becomes pyrenized.
This is because the fish had contact with metal that contains Benzo(a) pyrene which causes cancer.” One of the researchers told Joynews in a documentary.
About how fried rice causes cancer, she had this to say: ” Continuous stirring of rice in a pan before it fries makes it contaminated with metallic Benzo(a)pyrene. Sometimes the laddle used in stirring fried rice is even metal.” The researcher added.
Renowned Ghanaian actor andplaywright Fiifi Coleman expressed concern about the financial challenges facing the movie industry in Ghana, primarily due to a lack of investment.
Coleman highlighted the disparity between the earnings of actors and TikTokers, pointing out that TikTokers charges a substantial GH¢50,000 for a three-month promotional campaign involving two posts per week.
He underscored the urgency of attracting more investors to support the movie industry, aiming to improve the quality of work and make it more financially rewarding for actors.
In an interview with 3Music TV, Fiifi Coleman revealed the stark contrast between the earnings of TikTokers and actors, emphasising the meagre income actors receive in comparison.
“I just thought about some very, very easy money people are making out of this whole industry. TikTok, Pick them up. A TikTok influencer will charge you GH¢50,000 to run a three-month promo for you, where they do two posts a week. I’m not talking to organisers. How many people make that money? Which industry is paying anyone to do two posts?
“And that’s just like the ones that are quote-unquote, untrained. The ones that have forced themselves into dancing like I can do mimicking and all of those things.”
He further called on investors and corporate institutions to come on board and support the movie industry to revive it.
“Now we are trying to revive ourselves and to realise that we need more than what we used to do to produce what we were having. We need more money now, and we need more experience now. We need collaborations too,” said Fiifi Coleman.
Former Black Stars management committee member Alhaji Grusah asserts that the current poor form of the Black Stars is a consequence of the alleged greediness of Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku.
According to Grusah, Okraku has isolated individuals in the football community and has chosen to rely solely on his close associates to manage the association.
Grusah alleges that Kurt terminated the services of the previous Black Stars management committee members without providing them with official dismissal letters.
“They said they had dissolved the national team, and they didn’t give us letters because (sic) they appointed us,” he said in an audio aired on Sompa FM.
While venting his grievances, the King Faisal bankroller said God is serving his punishment on Kurt in the most embarrassing way.
“He claimed he could do it all by himself; it’s God who is punishing him. Where you least expect to be embarrassed that where you get embarrassed for cheating on people. We are supposed to be one family in football but you want to do it alone along with your family…,” he added.
Regarding Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Comoros, Grusah said the loss means the Black Stars will face an uphill task at the soon-to-start 2023 AFCON.
“The youth are hoping the Black Stars will qualify for the World Cup so they can travel and start a new life. We thank God we won 1-0 we won (against Madagascar) in Kumasi. But for the Black Stars to fail to score in 90 minutes after conceding (against Comoros), it means we will have a problem in Ivory Coast.”
The Black Stars suffered their second defeat in the2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, marking three losses in their last four games.
Throughout this period, the team managed one victory, securing a 1-0 win against Madagascar in Kumasi during their World Cup qualifier opener.
Sean “Diddy” Combs faces another lawsuit within a two-week span, wherein he is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman who also alleges being a victim of “revenge porn” by the music artist.
The civil suit, filed under the New York Adult Survivors Act, includes Combs and his companies, including Bad Boy Entertainment.
This legal action is part of a surge in cases filed against high-profile individuals as the deadline for filing under the state’s look-back law approaches this week.
The purported victim, Joi Dickerson-Neal, was a student at Syracuse University during the 1991 incident and had previously appeared in a few video clips of a music video with Combs.
According to the lawsuit, she reluctantly agreed to dinner with Combs during a school break for the holidays in January. The suit alleges that he pushed her to keep him company while he attended to “a few things in the city.”
Joi Dickerson-Neal with Sean “Diddy” Combs featured in the music video “Straight From The Soul.”
During their dinner, the suit claims that Combs intentionally drugged her, resulting in a physical state where she could not independently stand or walk. It is alleged in the suit that, while at dinner, she left her drink unattended after going to the restroom.
In the car, the suit contends that she took a puff of “blunt” under pressure from Combs, and from that point on, her memory is described as incomplete.
“Driving first to a music studio where she could not get out of the car, Combs proceeded to a place he was staying to sexually assault her,” the suit alleges.
The suit alleges Combs video recorded the sexual assault, and days later a male friend revealed to Dickerson that he had viewed it.
“Horrified, Ms. Dickerson asked how many others saw it, to which he responded, ‘everyone.’”
Thereafter, Dickerson alleges her life “went into a tailspin.” She was admitted to the hospital for severe depression and suicide ideation, the suit claims.
According to the suit, Dickerson filed police reports at unspecified agencies in New York and New Jersey, spoke to “several prosecutors” hoping to press charges and was told her “allegations would need to be corroborated.”
The suit goes on to say Combs had experienced “great success” with the launch of late Notorious B.I.G.’s career, whose hit single Juicy charted on Billboard, and claims witnesses were “terrified that Combs would retaliate against them and that they would lose future business and music opportunities if they made a statement in support” of her.
The individual making the accusations was endeavouring to establish herself in the music industry while serving as a location scout for an industry cameraman. Despite her claims of “emotional pain,” she persisted in working within the music industry at a DJ management company following the incident, as outlined in the lawsuit.
Eventually, she departed from the company as Combs’ prominence continued to soar and his ubiquitous presence became unavoidable, according to the suit.
“It was the filing of the lawsuit about his abuse of Cassie Venture [sic] on November 16, 2023, that forced her to face his assault again,” the suit says.
Ventura, a formergirlfriend of Combs, accused the rapper and producer of years of sexual abuse, rape and trafficking in a suit Combs said was resolved “amicably” one day after the filing.
Combs’ representative at the time said it was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing” and “does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims.”
Robert Sackey is sceptical about Jose Mourinho’s ability to achieve positive results if appointed as the head coach of the Black Stars for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024.
The former Black Princesses coach argues that the current challenges within the Black Stars present difficulties for any coach to produce desired outcomes.
Consequently, he urges the Ghana Football Association to maintain Chris Hughton as the coach for the tournament.
Sackey asserts that it is too late for a new coach to adequately prepare the team for the tournament, scheduled to be hosted in Ivory Coast.
Concerns have been raised regarding Hughton’s future with the Black Stars, particularly in light of recent results.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Sackey opines that parting ways with Hughton before the tournament would result in a situation reminiscent of the one in 2006.
“We are going toward the end of November and you are talking about appointing a new head coach. It was the same problem we encountered in 2006,” he said.
Before adding, “It’s about psyching. How to be able to motivate the players to go and perform. I feel we should keep the coach because it is too late to sack him.”
Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has responded to the notice issued by the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) regarding a potential strike next week if their concerns are not addressed.
Expressing his opinion, Sarkodie warned that if the government neglects the situation and allows the mortuary workers to proceed with the planned strike, it could have severe repercussions for the nation, especially considering the death rate.
Sarkodie emphasised that mortuary work, despite being one of the most underrated professions in the country, plays a vital role in ensuring that deceased individuals receive proper treatment before their burial.
Sarkodie called on the government to meet the demands of the Mortuary Workers Association and furnish them with the requisite equipment needed to discharge their duties effectively. “This will affect us heavily…
“Yes, I wouldn’t want a strike, especially from “them” but I understand… this is one of the underrated/underpaid jobs yet one of the hardest and riskiest. They deserve the right salary, equipment and environment to work effectively … We can escape some services in life but this,” he wrote on his X page.
This will affect us heavy … Yes I wouldn’t want a strike especially from “them” but I understand… this is one of the underrated / underpaid jobs yet one of the hardest and riskiest jobs. They deserve the right salary , equipment and environment to work effectively … We can… https://t.co/BZ1M2u8htV
According to a letter addressed to four ministries and three state agencies, MOWAG said its intended action was in line with activating Section 159 of Act 651 (2003).
“Our position is that all Mortuary Workers in Ghana shall lay down their tools starting on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, until all matters already in your domain are resolved. “This is an exercise of rights, as the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana stipulates. You are respectfully notified,” the letter read in part.
The ministries that received notifications included Health, Employment and Labour Relations, National Security, and Finance.
Additionally, copies were sent to the Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission, and the Registrar of the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Authority.
The letter, signed by MOWAG General Secretary Richard Kofi Jordan, has garnered humorous and critical reactions since it was shared on the social media platform ofmedia personality Serwaa Amihere.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray Thursday, the singer indicated that Ghanaians are yet to understand the concept of a gospel musician doing music with a secular musician.
“But for now, I have not thought of having music with him (Black Sherif). For me, there is no problem but you know, some Christians haven’t understood that kind of collaboration between a gospel musician and a secular musician.
“The time is not right yet but gradually and definitely, it will get to a point that they will understand. However, I don’t want to get to that for now. But when the time is right,” madam Piesie stated.
She stated, however, that she really likes secular musicians such as Black Sherif, among others and does listen to their songs on the radio.
Piesie Esther earlier this year was poised to win the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year award ahead of her fiercest contender, Black Sherif, however, Blacko emerged as the winner.
Lagos State Coroner Court, seated at Ita-Elewa in Ikorodu, has disclosed that an investigation is underway in the United States of America to determine the true cause of death for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as MohBad.
The state counsel, O. Akinde, informed the Coroner Magistrate, Adetayo Shotobi, on Wednesday.
According to Akinde, the autopsy for the external body of the deceased has been completed, but the toxicology test, focusing on the internal body, is currently being conducted in the United States.
This information was conveyed in response to the insistence of other counsels, including David Nawoola, representing the deceased’s father, David Fadimu, and the representative of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Ikorodu, O.S.A. Aranmolaran.
Previously, the mother of the late singer, Mrs. Olumiyi, had urged Nigerians to intervene and encourage her husband to retrieve the remains of MohBad from the Lagos State Police Command for the final burial.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QClNSY30QRQ
In a viral video, she claimed that MohBad’s father was impeding the burial process, and she maintained that the police had released the body, awaiting the family to collect it for burial.
She said, “Nigerians, I cry to you to help demand the release of my son’s corpse. I pray that you will not witness your children’s deaths too.
“Mohbad’s corpse has been released since the completion of the autopsy but his father has refused to let his corpse be released for burial despite me begging him repeatedly.”
“I went to theLagos State Commissioner of Police last week, and he told me that Mohbad’s remains had been released before now, questioning why we are letting his body waste away and if we are happy that he’s dead,” she added.
Renownedgospel musician Piesie Esther has shared her perspective on the distribution of condoms at fellow artist Nacee’s concert.
Piesie Esther expressed that she refrains from passing judgement on Nacee’s decision to distribute condoms at his gospel concert, acknowledging that individuals are entitled to their own opinions.
When asked about the possibility of incorporating condom sharing at her own concert in the future, Piesie Esther disclosed that she has not contemplated it yet and that such a decision would be challenging for her to make.
During an interview with Starr FM, Piesie Esther voiced concerns that the distribution of condoms at Nacee’s concert might inadvertently encourage fornication.
This perspective was shared during a conversation with the show’s host, Bola Ray.
Bola Ray: Nacee’s gospel concert, he will share condoms to those who will attend. Why is it wrong for him to do that, even though people say it is birth control so it shouldn’t be a big deal?
Piesie Esther: Okay, maybe that is Nacee but I don’t see it, or I cannot sit down here and say there is something wrong with it. However, it is Nacee who wants to do that and everybody has his or her opinion.
Bola Ray: Do you think it promotes fornication or casual sex?
Piesie Esther: It does in a way but then couples too also use it so maybe Nacee will share it for couples, not just anybody.
Bola Ray: He said it will be given to every attendee but why is it wrong for him to distribute condoms?
Meanwhile, Nacee explained the rationale behind having a condom company as a sponsor for his inaugural concert, Kavod.
During an interview on Joy Prime’s ‘Prime Morning,’ Nacee emphasised that partnering with Total Family Health Organisation (TFHO), the maker of Ebony Condoms, as a sponsor would serve to enhance the promotion and profitability of their products.
He suggested that the proceeds generated could subsequently contribute to both employees and employers being able to fulfil their tithing commitments in church.
When former president and flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, declared a 24-hour economy as his main strategy for transforming Ghana’s development fortunes, his adversaries across the pond probably dismissed it as just another campaign talk.
That is, until the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Dr. Yaw Baah, an economist, described the strategy as “a game changer.” And then panic set in across the pond and even inside it.
For some crazy reason, those adversaries reduced the idea of a 24-hour economy to having fun at night; hence, in the 2024 budget, the finance minister tried to upstage Mr. Mahama by promising everything from “a Night and Sport Economy” (p. 92) to “the Night Economy and Tourism” (p. 92), to the development of Black Star Square into a “City Light Centre… to drive the night economy in Accra… [and create] a welcoming night-time environment…” (p. 92), and, finally, to the use of Astro Turfs to create “vibrant night economies” in their host communities (p. 93). (For the record, the word “night” appears only once in the 2023 budget, in reference to patrols by immigration officers.)
Not to be outdone by the finance minister, the vice president and chairman of the economic management team, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who will be contesting Mr. Mahama in the December 2024 presidential election, reportedly said at a political rally that Mr Mahama “doesn’t understand his own policy” and that “it does not make sense.”
He went on to remind his audience that Ghana already has a thriving 24-hour economy, citing hospitals, fuel stations and chop bars—yes, he did!—as proof. He then promised “a new vision” complete with a “new policy” that would “transform this country.”
The news report gave no details about this vision. But if his idea of a 24-hour economy, beyond the nightlife of the finance minister, is about building more chop bars acrossGhana to ensure round-the-clock access to fufu or fried rice, then he is even more rudderless than he has proven in the past seven years.
A 24-hour economy is about more than keeping a few establishments open around the clock—or lighted Astro Turfs at night. It’s a multi-dimensional strategy for economic transformation, where businesses that operate during the day are strengthened and conditions are created for others across the country—not just Accra—to rise or thrive in an interconnected world that never sleeps. It’s about a country living to its fullest potential, not settling for mediocrity over chop bars.
When the idea of a 24-hour workday was originally proposed in the 40-Year National Development Plan, it was partly to address unemployment from what the Plan called the “technological upheavals” of the future, such as robotics, AI, and 3D printing, that would displace workers in many traditional and high-value sectors. The strategy, as laid out in the Plan, aimed at three shifts of 8 hours each and 4 shifts of 6 hours each, depending on a “productivity revolution,” which was also proposed in the Plan.
The strategy, which was subsequently incorporated into the NDC’s 2020 manifesto, alongside transformative policies like an Employment Act (to complement the Labour Act) and a jobs programme called Edwuma Pa (Good Work), also recognised the availability, dependability AND increased use of electricity (a measure of a growing economy) as a pre-condition and one of 10 key drivers of a productive 24-Hour economy.
Specific targets for electricity consumption, measured by kilowatt-hour (kWh) per capita, were therefore set, and Dr. Bawumia’s government inherited more than enough electricity from Mr. Mahama in 2017 to meet those targets. They didn’t.
Instead, they blamed Mr. Mahama for giving Ghana “too much electricity,” when the real problem was too little economic activity due to the bankrupt economic policies that they initiated the moment they took office, destroying the financial sector and subverting industrial activity. Thus, they missed the critical first-year targets.
For example, in 2018, the government attained only 452 kWh per capita instead of the projected 620 kWh, and in 2021 it managed 548 kWh instead of 850 kWh; it is unlikely that they would meet the 1,433 kWh target for 2025.
The consequences of these “fatal errors” were predictable: Manufacturing growth declined from 14.24% in the first quarter of 2017 to 6.32% in the last quarter of 2019, while electricity use by the economy peaked at 20.82% in the first quarter of 2018 and then plunged to 0.90% in the third quarter of 2019, all before COVID and Ukraine, which are now the whipping boys of their mismanagement.
The latest data from theGhana Statistical Service show that the economy has still not recovered from the wrong-headed policies of Dr. Bawumia and his team.
The manufacturing sector shrank by 2.5% in the first three months of 2023 and by 0.5% in the next three, inevitably worsening unemployment. (His voodoo claim of creating 2.3 million jobs in a collapsing economy will be tackled another time.)
Significantly, and despite popular perceptions, Mr. Mahama has perhaps the best record of any president, except Kwame Nkrumah, in providing electricity to Ghanaians after inheriting dumsor, which had plagued Ghana intermittently since 1983. The following are the average annual growth rates for installed electricity (by megawatt) under the four most recent presidents, based on data from the Energy Commission:
Even chop bars and taflatse need electricity, and Dr. Bawumia has woefully failed to provide that. It is doubtful that he would do any better. Now or ever
Actress and media personality Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku is advocating for content creators to present a positive portrayal of Africa on the global stage.
Emphasising the importance of narrating genuine African stories free from Western influences, she shared these sentiments during a podcast-style conversation at the Africa’s Business Heroes event in Kigali, Rwanda, on November 23.
With a rich background in creative content creation, including over 200 live shows, Naa Ashorkor stressed the need for a deliberate approach to showcasing African culture.
She recommended the inclusion of African elements such as clothing, hairstyles, and local languages to enhance the global relatability of content.
Encouraging content creators to utilise platforms like TikTok and YouTube, she urged them to disseminate these stories on a global scale.
“Content is global. If I put content on TikTok in Ghana, someone in China will be watching it, and it is an opportunity for me to expose who Africans and Ghanaians are,” she said.
The broadcast journalist urged content creators to “understand that what we have is gold. The best shows about humanity and culture are in Africa. The best stories are told in Africa and we must tell them ourselves.”
“It is about humanity and the wealth in our stories. Create TikTok videos about African stories and tell our stories better because African stories are best told by Africans.”
Humanitarian aid is beginning to reachGaza as a Qatar-mediated four-day truce, marking the first pause after seven weeks of hostilities between Israel and Hamas, takes effect.
Palestinians welcome the relief during this break in fighting, starting at 7 a.m. (05:00 GMT) on Friday.
As part of the truce, 150 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and 50 captives held by Hamas in Gaza are set to be released.
The first releases, involving 39 Palestinians and 13 Israelis, are anticipated for Friday afternoon.
Preceding the truce, Israeli airstrikes intensified in Rafah and Khan Younis in the south, with constant artillery shelling in the northern Gaza Strip.
A video posted by Almog Boker, a correspondent for Channel 13, shows Israeli soldiers celebrating as buildings in the northern Gaza Strip were destroyed in the last hour before the truce began.

The first pause in the fighting was met with huge relief by Palestinians, who were rejoicing to be safe from Israeli bombardment for the first time in weeks, Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reported from Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
“This is the first time that we have notheard Israeli drones since the beginning of this round of fighting,” he said. “People sense that there is a glimmer of hope that this short-term pause will pave the way for a longer ceasefire.”
Nigerian Chef cum entrepreneur,Hilda Effiong Baci, has extoled the men in her country over Ghanaian men.
In excerpts of a podcast that has since gone viral, Hilda said Ghanaian women are stuck with the decision to settle with their men, although their deepest desire is to settle with a Nigerian man.
The former Guinness World Record breaker said with all certainty that Ghanaian men might not ever get married should there be an influx of Nigerian men in the country.
“Ask 20 Ghanaian women if they will marry Ghanaian men. Put Nigerian men and Ghanaian men side by side and see who they will pick. Ghanaian women marry Ghanaians because that is what is in their forefront.
“When we send some Nigerian men to Ghana, the men over there, won’t get wives,” she blatantly stated during a discussion with some UK Ghanaian men.
Nevertheless, her comments have sparked significant backlash from Ghanaian Twitter users who argue that many Nigerian men in Ghana are not as impressive as she portrayed.
According to some individuals on social media, Ghanaian women do not necessarily see Nigerian men as desirable. They contend that a considerable number of these men often find themselves engaged in low-level occupations, such as selling phone covers and similar jobs.

Gospel musician Diana Asamoah has entered the ongoing public dispute between the Ashanti Kingdom’s king, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Traditional Ruler of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, regarding the supremacy of their kingship.
As per Asamoah, the public clash between Dormaahene and Otumfuo is detrimental to their societal standing, given their esteemed reputation in Ghana.
She acknowledged that the feud aligns with biblical prophecy, suggesting that in the last days, kingdoms would contend for supremacy, making the situation somewhat expected.
During an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3, Diana Asamoah criticised Otumfuo and Dormaahene for their unseemly conduct, emphasising that such actions set a poor example for the youth.
“Apart from what I am saying, if you study the Bible very well, you will never speak against any authority because it says nations will rise against nations and also kingdoms will rise against each other.
“Let’s look at what is happening in Ghana now—what has Asantehene done to Dormaahene and who wronged the other. These are prominent people that we are learning from, yet look at what they are doing today. It is not good, but people have politicised it,” she said.
Diana Asamoah further added, “The Bible has said it in 2 Timothy 3:1–5, ‘Know that in the last days, hard times will come and men will be proud’ because everyone wants to feel big. Also, men will be money-drunk, and today, because of money, a parent can kill their child without any remorse. Because of that, fetish priests have turned into pastors.”
Controversy arose following Dormaahene’s assertion that there is no ‘king’ in Ghana, drawing criticism from those who reprimanded him for seemingly underestimating the supremacyof Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Additional footage of the tumultuousBrazil versus Argentina match continues to emerge online as an investigation into the incident commences.
The FIFA disciplinary committee is set to scrutinise the factors that triggered the crowd disturbances and the subsequent violent response from law enforcement.
The unsightly episode at the Maracana Stadium unfolded shortly before the kickoff, with Lionel Messi leading the Argentine players to the stands in an effort to mediate peace between the conflicting factions.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was then observed instructing his teammates to exit the pitch, citing an inability to play under such conditions.
A new video has surfaced, indicating that as the world champions returned to the dressing room, Angel Di Maria seemingly spat towards Brazil fans just in front of the tunnel, as reported by SportBible.
Brazilian striker Rodrygo (22) revealed that he has been subjected to racist messages on his social media accounts following a disagreement with Argentina’s captainLionel Messi (36) before their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
The 1-0 loss for Brazil against Argentina in Rio de Janeiro, marking the five-time world champions’ third consecutive defeat, was marred by violence.
Clashes between police and visiting fans at the Maracana stadium led to a half-hour delay in the match.
Messi, who accused local police of brutality, engaged with Brazil captain Marquinhos (28) and exchanged heated words with Rodrygo.
The 22-year-old striker disclosed that he received numerous messages featuring emojis of monkeys and bananas, highlighting the disturbing aspect of racism associated with the incident.
“Racists are always on duty. My social networks were invaded with insults and all sorts of nonsense,” Rodrygo wrote on Instagram on Thursday.
“If we don’t do what they want, if we don’t behave as they think we should, if we wear something that annoys them, if we don’t lower our heads when they attack us, if we occupy spaces they think are theirs alone, the racists will act out their criminal behaviour,” he added.
“Bad luck for them. We won’t stop.”
Brazil forward Vinicius Jr (23), who missed the Argentina game due to injury, supported his team mate.
“We will not stop,” he wrote on Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter.

Currently back in Italy from his Turkish club, Adana Demirspor, where he is recuperating from an injury, the 33-year-old has expressed his determination to vie for a spot in the Italian national team, asserting that he is the country’s premier striker.
“If I’m well, I still consider myself the strongest. Did [Giacomo] Raspadori and [Gianluca] Scamacca play? How many shots did they take combined? Two? I want to recover and play for the national team. I always hope for the call,” he said.
The Azzurri recently qualified for next year’s European Championships, where they will be defending their title under the guidance of former Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti.
It was reported earlierthat Balotelli was alleged to be discussing the potential of joining Paris Saint-Germain, even though he had previously played for their competitors, Olympique Marseille, throughout his varied career.
When questioned about the possibility of joining PSG, the striker acknowledged the intensity of the rivalry he experienced during Le Classique clashes throughout his tenure in France.
Lawyers representing Imperial Homes Limited, Asempa Bediako & Co., have issued a stern ultimatum to the Herald Newspaper, demanding a retraction and apology within 24 hours for what they allege to be a false publication.
The story, titled “Police hide US$270,000 fraud docket” and “Imperial Homes caught up in US$270,000 fraud case,” was published on November 10.
In a letter directed to the managing director of the Herald Newspaper, the legal representatives characterised the article as not only inaccurate but also as a deliberate effort to smear the well-established reputation of their client.
The lawyers are prepared to pursue legal action if the newspaper fails to comply with the demand for a retraction and apology within the specified timeframe.
“Our client’s attention has been drawn to the above publication by your media outlet dated November 10, 2023, on your website and November 22, 2023, in your newspaper, with other online media portals publishing the same.
“We hereby write on behalf of our client, requesting that you print an immediate retraction and apology directed to our client for having stated its prestigious name and for putting up a picture of the CEO on your front page to garner unnecessary attention when our client is not a party to the actual matter in court.”
“We are hoping that our request above is executed within thenext 24 hours upon receipt of this letter, failing which we are instructed by our clients to take every legal action available against you and your outfit should you refuse or delay in carrying out our request within the stated period,” the letter said.
Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, has provided clarification regarding the sale of the official accommodation of a sitting Clerk of Parliament.
Contrary to information from the Parliamentary Service stating that the property was sold in 2019, Mr. Jinapor stated during the debate on the 2024 Budget that his checks at the Lands Commission revealed the sale occurred in 2015.
He emphasised that the private developer only took possession of the land in 2019.
The statement aims to rectify the timeline of the property sale and address discrepancies in the information provided by the Parliamentary Service.
“Not too long ago, it was said that the accommodation of the clerk of parliament was sold in 2019. Mr. Speaker, I want to submit to this house, the House of Records, that my checks at the Lands Commission suggest that the clerk of parliament’s accommodation or residence was sold in 2015 and not 2019. Mr. Speaker, the then Minister of Works and Housing gave an offer to a private developer in 2015.”
It happened in 2015, not 2019. It just so happened that the developer, having bought the land in 2015, hadn’t been given an offer letter in 2015 and took possession in 2019,” Mr. Jinapor said.

His journey has taken him through renowned European clubs such as Udinese, Rennes, Sunderland, and Al-Ain.
The birthday celebration served as a moment to reflect on the football legend’s accomplishments and the impact he has had on the sport.
Danita Akosua Adomaa Yeboah, widely known as Afronita, a renowned Ghanaian dance artist and memberof DWP Academy, has disclosed that there is a significant surge in individuals transitioning to Afrodance, citing its financial viability.
During a Q&A session with TV3, Afronita, responding to a question about whether being a professional dancer is financially sustainable, disclosed that dancers do earn substantial income, highlighting the lucrativeness of the profession.
“We’ve made enough money from dance. I mean, dance is very lucrative,” she said.
Afronita also predicted a bright future for dance in Ghana and Africa, given the increasing interest in Afro-dance. She noted that people who were previously in other ventures are now switching to Afro-dance.
“With the future of dance in Ghana and even in Africa, it’s very bright because now everyone is hopping on Afro. Like, every single person wants to try Afro-dance. You find people that were doing ballet now switching to Afro. People who were doing hip-hop now want to learn Afro. That’s a new thing, and it’s the future,” she said.
Afronita elaborated further, noting that she, along with numerous other African dancers, has played a crucial role in shaping the global perception of dance.
She emphasised that Ghana attracts many enthusiasts seeking to learn dance, attributing it to the vibrancy of the African dance community.
“I feel like Ghana has played, like, avery big role because people travel all the way from European countries like Asia just to come here and learn dance. It shows our influence is very wide, and we are pushing out the Ghanaian culture. It means a lot to us,” she said.
Arhinful emphasised that dismissing the former Tottenham boss with only about a month remaining before the Africa Cup of Nations would pose a risk and is not the most prudent decision.
He underscored that the primary challenge the manager is confronting is the selection of the right players for the game.
“From a technical point of view, I don’t think it’s the best thing to do. Because between now and the Nations Cup is just one month, if I’m not lying. You can take the risk by relieving him of his position but I don’t think that is something we have to subscribe to,” he told Angel FM.
“There is still more room, especially when it comes to picking the players for the matches. We have spoken a lot about the call-ups; now it’s picking the players.”
The Black Stars’ technical team, comprising Chris Hughton, George Boateng, Didi Dramani, and Richard Kingson, has faced significant criticism in light of recent poor results.
The team suffered their third defeat in the last four games, losing 1-0 against Comoros in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on November 21, 2023.
Spanish prosecutor is seeking a nine-year prison term for former Barcelona and Brazil soccer playerDani Alves (40), who is set to stand trial on charges of sexual assault against a woman in Barcelona last year, according to a court document released on Thursday.
Alves, in custody since his arrest on January 20, allegedly assaulted a woman in the VIP area bathroom of a Barcelona nightclub in the early hours of December 31st, as outlined in the document.
Alves, who initially denied any sexual encounter, later claimed that the interaction was consensual.
The prosecutor is also requesting restraining orders for Alves post-sentence and a payment of €150,000 ($163,605.00) in damages to the woman.
In August, a court in the Barcelona area formally indicted Alves after finding evidence of wrongdoing, leading to the decision to proceed to trial.
A trial date has not been scheduled yet.
In Spain, rape allegations are investigated under the broader category of sexual assault, with convictions carrying prison sentences ranging from four to 15 years.
Following Argentina’s 1-0 victory over Brazil in World Cup qualifying, Leandro Paredes made a heartfelt plea to Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni.
In a surprising interview, Scaloni hinted at the possibility of resigning, stating that he “has to think a lot about what to do.”
This revelation stirred shockwaves among players and fans who hold Scaloni in high esteem, especially after guiding them to their third global crown in Qatar in 2022.
Paredes, in response, urged Scaloni to carefully reconsider his decision, expressing the hope that he would continue leading the national team.
Speaking to the media after the match, Paredes said, “We didn’t talk to Scaloni.
“We are aware he’s the head of the group; let’s hope he stays there and makes the decision to stay because he is very important. He will have his reasons but we are more than grateful. Let’s hope he changes his mind and stays with us.”
Under Scaloni’s guidance, Argentina has experienced success, particularly evident in their current position atop the World Cup qualifying group.
Despite a setback in their previous match against Uruguay, the manager showcased his ability to inspire a comeback, even in challenging circumstances.
Presently holding an impressive eight-point lead over sixth-placed Brazil, who have faced three consecutive losses under Fernando Diniz, Argentina’s dominance is clear.
Scaloni’s recent comments about contemplating his future as head coach came in the aftermath of a match marked by off-the-pitch violence at Brazil’s Maracana stadium.
While he did not provide a definitive statement about his potential resignation, the chaotic scenes in the stands may have influenced his reflections.
Although uncertainties linger about Scaloni’s future, Argentina’s loyal supporters remain hopeful that their accomplished World Cup-winning coach will continue leading the team for the foreseeable future.
Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) has urged the government to reduce theElectronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) from 1% to 0.5% while simultaneously introducing a 0.5% levy on cash-outs.
This recommendation is made to align the policy with Ghana’s digital-first strategy, emphasising the need for a balanced approach to support the country’s digital initiatives.
“Our recommendation to the Ministry of Finance is to consider reducing the levy on transfers to 0.5% and introducing a 0.5% levy on cash-outs, among other proposals,” the Chamber added in a statement.
Despite facing initial challenges, the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) has proven to be a significant revenue generator for the government, amassing GH¢482.8 million out of the targeted GH¢6.9 billion.
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) advocates for further adjustments to enhance digital payments and align with the government’s digital transformation objectives.
The GCT’s 2022 Mobile Industry Transparency Initiative report, unveiled on November 21, 2023, in Accra, sheds light on the telecommunications industry’s substantial contributions to Ghana’s economy.
According to Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, the CEO of the GCT, the industry’s tax and payment contributions exceeded GH¢6 billion in 2022, marking a 50% increase from GH¢4 billion in 2021.
This financial input accounts for approximately 8.02% of the government’s 2022 tax revenue, as outlined in the Ghana Revenue Authority’s 2022 annual report.
The report further reveals that the telecommunications industry directly employs over 2,600 individuals and indirectly supports the creation of more than 1.2 million jobs, including over 505,000 active Mobile Money Agents.
These findings underscore the sector’s vital role in Ghana’s development and economic landscape.
The water tariff for residential customers will see a modest increase of 0.34%, moving from GHS/M3 4.72 to 4.74.
Meanwhile, non-residential customers will experience a slight hike from GHS/M3 14.13 to 14.19.
Water sachet producers will face an increase from GHS/M3 22.26 to 22.34, and industrial consumers will witness a tariff adjustment from GHS/M3 25.29 to 25.38.
On the electricity front, there is a 1.52% decrease in tariffs. Residential lifeline customers (0–30kWh) will see their tariff reduced from 0.64 to 0.63, and all residential customers (0–300kWh) will experience a decrease from GHS/M3 1.42 to GHS/M3 1.40.
Dr Ishmael Ackah, the Executive Secretary of the PURC, attributed the adjustments to factors such as the cost of electricity, increased volume and cost of chemicals for raw water treatment, the Ghana Cedi/US Dollar exchange rate, and inflation.
He commended stakeholders for their support in implementing quarterly tariff reviews in accordance with the Rate Setting Guidelines for Quarterly Review of Natural Gas, Electricity, and Water Tariffs.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)has exercised its option to convert the loan of striker Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica into a permanent deal.
Ramos, who initially joined PSG on a season-long loan in the summer, gained attention with a remarkable World Cup performance last year, contributing a hat trick that propelled Portugal to the quarterfinals.

Euro 2024 qualifying campaign concluded this week, with nearly all the tournament spots secured.
England smoothly sailed through qualification, maintaining an unbeaten record with six victories in eight games.
Similarly, Spain, France, Belgium, and Portugal secured the top positions in their respective groups.
However, several teams fell short of securing a spot in Germany, leaving a handful of players with an extended summer break.
Here are five Premier League players who won’t be participating in Euro 2024:
Norway forward Erling Haaland
The notable absentee will be Erling Haaland (23), who, once again, finds himself on the sidelines during a significant international tournament.
Despite the Manchester City striker’s impressive six goals in the qualifying campaign, Norway concluded third in Group A.
The Lions secured only three victories in a group that included Spain, Scotland, Georgia, and Cyprus.
Martin Odegaard (Norway)
Similar to Haaland, Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard (24) will have no football activity over the summer.
Odegaard featured in seven of Norway’s eight matches during the qualifying campaign but missed the final qualifier due to injury, ruling him out for the upcoming summer tournaments.
Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden)
Sweden, another Scandinavian team, failed to qualify for Euro 2024 after a challenging campaign.
They finished third in Group F, trailing nine points behind Austria.
Tottenham wingerDejan Kulusevski (23) played in every game, contributing one goal and two assists.
Despite his efforts, the Blue and Yellow managed only three wins in the qualifying rounds.
Alexander Isak (Sweden)
Injury restricted Alexander Isak (24) to just five appearances in qualifying and on his day, the Newcastle forward is a handy asset that Sweden could have done with.
Isak scored once in the time he did play, which came in September against Estonia, although that is his only tally for Sweden in the last two years.
Evan Ferguson (Republic of Ireland)
Republic of Ireland faced a challenging draw in Group B with France, the Netherlands, and Greece.
As predicted, they concluded the group with only two wins and six points.
Despite the tough campaign, one of the bright spots was the opportunity to allow Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson (19) to further develop his international experience.
The teenager scored two goals, and if he can sustain his fitness, Ferguson has the potential to become a valuable asset for the Boys in Green in the future.
Barcelona has no plans to seek a replacement for the injured Gavi during the upcoming winter transfer window, as acknowledged by the club’s sporting director, Deco.
He stated that the Spain international is considered “irreplaceable.”
When asked about Gavi, Deco told EFE: “At present, he is a footballer who is irreplaceable. He cannot be replaced. There is no player available on the market to do his job, neither with his mentality nor with his ability.
Discussing replacing Gavi is a mistake; it is a mistake to think that we are going to find a player to replace him. We will not find him. We are not going to go crazy with Gavi’s injury. It is sad for him and for us as a club, but we will not find a replacement.”
Gavi’s injury creates an opportunity for Vitor Roque’s potential arrival in January. According to LaLiga rules, Barcelona can allocate 80% of Gavi’s earnings towards the wages of a new signing during the upcoming transfer window.
“With Gavi’s injury, a new scenario arises and we are going to evaluate it based on what we can do,” Deco said.” First, finding a replacement for Gavi is impossible.
“Second, incorporating another player will depend on what suits us best. Whether it is one or two [another besides Vitor Roque] will depend on the economic margin.”
However, Deco says the chances of making a top signing in January are slim. “In January, the important players play fortheir teams and I don’t see it as easy to sign an important player who can give us things in the winter market.”
AC Milan is actively considering Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy for their transfer plans as they seek to bolster their attacking options in January.
The Rossoneri are not only looking for immediate reinforcements but also a long-term successor for the 37-year-old Olivier Giroud, who continues to play a crucial role in the squad.
Guirassy, 27, has garnered attention with an impressive record of 15 goals in just nine league games this season, making him a sought-after target by clubs outside the Bundesliga.
Although Guirassy has a release clause of €17 million in his contract, reports suggest he is not contemplating a move until next summer.
Milan anticipates stiff competition for his signature.
Another potential option for Stefano Pioli’s side is Canada international Jonathan David, available for around €40 million, but concerns have arisen due to his recent dip in form.
The 24-year-old, who excelled with 24 goals in 37 Ligue 1 starts for Lille last season, has only scored two goals in 12 games this campaign.
Montpellier star Akor Adams is also reportedly on Milan’s radar as they explore their attacking options.
Football Association (FA) council member Wasim Haq resigned from his position on Thursday after being suspended over a social media post concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Haq, who had served as the BAME Football Communities Representative since 2019, faced suspension by the English soccer governing body for a post that stated “Adolf Hitler would be proud of (Israel’s Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu,” a post he has since removed.
Additionally, he was removed from his role as an independent councillor at the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
Haq shared his resignation letter addressed to FA chair Debbie Hewitt on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
“Recent events have left me bereft of energy and hope. I have felt overwhelmed at how this has transpired,” the letter read.
“As someone who has worked closely with many Jewish people over the years and created meaningful and valued friendships, the most painful part of this process is knowing that some of those friends and colleagues may not forgive me for the misunderstanding and hurt I have unintentionally caused.
This morning I have resigned from The FA. I have also reiterated my apology to the Jewish community.
This war has left thousands dead, many of us are in despair and deeply troubled.
I hope football can play a future role in easing tensions between communities.
Government has donated 30 vehicles to theGhana Immigration Service (GIS) for effective border checks and control in the country.
The donation, which was overseen by the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, saw a fleet that included 23 Toyota Land Cruisers GXR, three Toyota Land Cruisers Twin Turbo, one Toyota Land Cruiser VXS, one Toyota Tundra, and two Toyota Double Cabin Pick-ups.
The move comes after the recent terrorism insurgencies in neighbouring countries, followed by stakeholder warnings to Ghana and the need to beef up security against potential terrorist attacks.
Highlighting the government’s awareness of the threats these undesirable elements pose at the country’s borders, especially at the Northern frontiers, the Member of Parliament for Nandom constituency in the Upper West Region expressed the government’s confidence in the service and it’s ability to protect Ghana’s borders, hence the need for the delivery.
“The government views the GIS as an integral part of the security architecture that can deal with the insecurities at the border, hence the donation of the cars.
“It is in this direction that we aregathered here today to unveil these vehicles to you for effective border management and security,” Mr Dery said.
Former England defender Gary Neville took aim at what he called the “lawless” Premier League in his podcast over Everton’s 10-point deduction last week that shocked English football.
Everton on Friday became the first Premier League club to be deducted points for breaching profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) when the league docked the Merseyside club the points over their finances in the 2020–21 season.
“Everton’s trust and faith (in the Premier League) have gone completely,” television pundit Neville said on his podcast Stick to Football.
“The greed and selfishness is out of control; it’s lawless. The Premier League is a defunct organisation because they’ve got 20 clubs all voting with self-interest. This has been coming for many years.”
The Premier League did not provide an immediate comment.
Following the prompt deduction, Everton plummeted from the 14th position in the standings to the relegation zone with four points, narrowly above bottom-placed Burnley on goal difference.
This deduction was a consequence of Everton reporting losses totaling nearly £372 million over three years, surpassing the £250 million limit permitted by the league within that timeframe.
In a related matter, reigning champions Manchester City are facing over 100 charges of violating the Premier League’s financial regulations.
“The Super League clubs that tried to destroy the whole of European football – they were fined a total of 22 million pounds, 3.5 million for each team, which is an absolute disgrace and a scandal for what they attempted to do, which was the attempted murder of our game,” said Neville.
The sentiments of the ex-Manchester United player aligned with those of various critics, including Labour MP Ian Byrne, who initiated an ‘early day motion’ in parliament on Tuesday to denounce the deduction. Byrne advocated for the immediate establishment of an independent football regulator.
Addressing the situation, Everton’s director of football, Kevin Thelwell, expressed that the Merseyside club intends to channel the penalty as “additional fuel” for the remainder of the season.
The French Players Union (UNFP) is urging a reevaluation of the football calendar following a series of serious injuries to players.
Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, aged 21, sustained a knee ligament injury during training with the French national team.
His club teammate, Aurelien Tchouameni, aged 23, suffered a stress fracture to his left foot in a match against Barcelona last month.
Additionally, 17-year-old Paris St. Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery will be sidelined for the rest of the year due to an ankle injury sustained while making his debut for the Les Bleus.
These incidents have prompted concerns about the toll of the current football schedule on player well-being.
“We were right. We knew it. We said it. Repeatedly. And said it again,” UNFP said in a statement late on Wednesday.
“But while senior executives are obliged to listen to us, it’s rare that they actually listen to us, especially when the interests at stake go beyond the boundaries of the field.”
UNFP said it was “high time to undertake a thorough reform of the calendar”.
“If the post-World Cup period has vindicated all those who are calling for an overhaul of the fixture list, these are only the first signs of an even deeper crisis that will also end up damaging the spectacle,” it added.

Wunmi, the wife of Mohbad, has responded to the accusations made against her by her father-in-law. In a recent interview, she clarified that the statements made by the elderly man were entirely false and devoid of any truth.
According to Wunmi, her father-in-law is allegedly attempting to have her incarcerated to gain control over her late husband’s assets.
“Everything Baba (Mohbad’s father) has said about me is a lie,” she said. I opted not to grant interviews since I am mentally ill and need to care for my child. Baba wants me imprisoned so that all that belongs to my son can be transferred to him.
“He has been calling Adura (Moh’s brother) to lie against me at the coroner court. I have every proof. That was the reason Adura refused to go to him. Baba said he saw some clothes filled with blood when he came to our house after my husband passed away.
“That was a blatant lie. He has also told my mother-in-law that she must lie against me in court that she saw clothes that were filled with blood.
“He also influenced my mother-in-law’s sister to say she saw blo*d in the house. I am not a weak woman. I have so many things I can reveal about Baba but I decided to keep mute because of my son, Liam.
“If I start spilling secrets, people will know who Baba really is, but my son will grow to read the mess online; for now, I wouldrather hold my peace.”
World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued a warning about the diminishing effectiveness of antibiotics due to their misuse, a trend that could result in 10 million global deaths by 2050.
This caution comes in response to a WHO survey on antibiotic usage.
The survey revealed that antibiotics were often prescribed for conditions such as common colds (24 percent of cases), flu-like symptoms (16 percent), sore throats (21 percent), and coughs (18 percent), as outlined in a report by the WHO’s European branch.
Conducted in 14 nations, primarily in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the study underscores the urgent need to address the misuse of antibiotics to combat the growing threat of antibiotic resistance.
“While AMR (antimicrobial resistance) is a natural phenomenon, the development and spread of superbugs are being accelerated by the misuse of antimicrobials, rendering infections more challenging to treat effectively,” a statement said.
“All countries in our region have regulations in place to protect precious antibiotics from misuse… Enforcing these regulations would solve most antibiotic misuse,” Robb Butler, director of WHO Europe’s Division of Communicable Diseases, said in a statement.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) issued a warning that, in the absence of prompt action, antibiotic resistance among antimicrobials could result in up to 10 million annual deaths by 2050.
It added that a third of the 8,200 respondents worldwide have taken antibiotics without a prescription, citing improper prescriptions as a “cause for concern.”
Over 40% of antibiotics were prescribed without a doctor’s recommendation, highlighting a concerning trend in their misuse.
In contrast, a 2022 poll conducted in the European Union indicated that only 8% of participants reported using antibiotics without a prescription.
The World Health Organization (WHO) noted significant gaps in people’s understanding of antibiotics, suggesting that individuals might be unintentionally taking these medications.
This underscores the need for improved awareness and education on the appropriate use of antibiotics.
“This research clearly shows the need for education and awareness-raising,” Butler said
