Jeremy Renner is marking 10 months of recovery since hisNew Year’s Day snowplow accident in January.
The actor expressed being “brought to tears of joy, hopefulness, and gratitude” for all the support he received during his recuperation.
The Hawkeye actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video of him skipping and running up and down a driveway at an incline. He wrote in the caption, “(sic) Today marks the day of 10 months of recovery… First attempt at any of this activities (especially at steep grades) brought tears of joy, hopefulness, and gratitude for all your support, along with that of my family and friends. I keep pushing for many reasons, but you are my fuel.”
Recovering from the incident where he was run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his Reno, Nevada, home, Jeremy Renner has reached a significant milestone after spending the year relearning how to walk.
The actor had attempted to prevent the machine from hitting his nephew, resulting in him being pulled underneath the PistenBully and sustaining 30 broken bones.
Following the incident, he was airlifted to a hospital and underwent surgery for “blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries.” Renner has been sharing video updates on his recovery journey and revealed in April, during an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, that he had undergone procedures to rebuild his rib cage with metal, place metal plates in his face to support his eye socket, and insert titanium rods in one of his legs.
Earlier this month,Renner said that while he has been “exploring EVERY type of therapy” to help with his recovery, his “greatest therapy has been my mind and the will to be here and push to recover and be better… Be exceptional.”
He added at the time, “I feel it’s my duty to do so. Not to squander my life being spared, but to give back to my family, friends, and all of you who have empowered me to endure. I thank you all.”
The actor also bonded with co-star Tony Todd while making the game: “it was like the President was there.”
For Nadji Jeter, stepping back into the role of Miles Morales in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 was a chance to learn some new skills—outside the realm of webswinging. Among them was studying American Sign Language, which Miles uses to communicate with street artist Hailey Cooper in the game, which has been praised for its deaf representation.
“We had great teachers on set. I’ve always embraced it because I feel like we’re touching a lot of communities,” Jeter tells The Hollywood Reporter. “A lot of people out there that can sometimes feel like they get excluded. But in Spider-Man 2, everyone is connected with this game.”
In Spider-Man 2, Jeter also formed a relationship with genre legend Tony Todd, who plays Venom in the game.
“That’s my uncle, man! Uncle Tony,” says Jeter. “The day when he was on the motion capture set, it was like the president was there.
Nadji’s previous release, “Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success, selling over 6.5 million copies. He has also lent his voice to the characters in “Spider-Man” on Disney XD and “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.” His latest project, “Spider-Man 2,” has achieved record-breaking success, emerging as the fastest-selling PlayStation game in the company’s history, with an impressive 2.5 million copies sold within the first 24 hours.
In an interview with THR, Jeter delves into his fondness for attending comic cons and shares his personal belief that Miles’ Spider-Man journey resonates with a broad audience.
When Spider-Man: Miles Morales first came out, we were in the middle of a global pandemic. What’s the reception for Spider-Man 2 been like for younow that you can be out at conventions to enjoy it?
I was waiting for this opportunity to redeem what we kind of missed because Spider-Man: Miles Morales dropped in the middle of a pandemic. I’m redeeming that time that we lost because I definitely wanted to go out there. I wanted to do so many interviews. I wanted to reach out to the world. But we were getting told no, because everything was just completely shut down.
I’ve definitely earned some cool points with my nieces, nephews and cousins. You know, my uncle kind of finally told me that he was proud of me. (Laughs.) I started Miles when I was 17 or 18 years old, playing him as a 13 year old on (Disney XD’s) Spider-Man. So, I grew up with Miles, but ended up being in the games because PlayStation called me over there, because they knew I was connected with Naughty Dog (Nadji voiced Sam The Last of Us). I didn’t know that it was going to just take off, but when they scanned my face, I was like, “This is going to be some big shoes to fill.”
What’s your favorite thing about playing the character in this game?
Getting to play Miles and being on the mocap set, you get to just have fun… you get to be a big kid again. Honestly, you get to use that imagination you had as a kid when it comes to playing hide and seek or any of those creative things we did as kids.
What was your relationship like with Peter Parker actor Yuri Lowenthal while doing this latest game? He’s mentioned how much he’s enjoyed your friendship over the years.
Yuri and I have a bond on and off the camera. He’s taught me a lot, industry-wise, when it comes to the effects of what we put out there, to giving me about comic cons. He’s a great, great guy. When we’re on stage, we’re definitely feeding off each other. You know, we actually met years ago, on Disney XD (where Yuri voiced Curt Conners on Spider-Man).
You also got to work with Tony Todd. What was that like for you?
That’s my uncle, man! Uncle Tony! I heard that he was given the role and we were all just ecstatic – nobody else can better play this role. His cadence, the voice, everything. The day when he was on the motion capture set, it was like the president was there. We met in the dressing rooms, I think he was just getting done for the day and I was starting my day, so we crossed paths. We both just embraced each other. I was like, “Man, I’m a huge fan!” Then, we had our San Diego Comic-Con trip and that’s where we just bonded from there. He’s taken me under his wing — I love Tony to death.
I got a chance to talk to the creative team about the different journeys of Peter and Miles, and the human side behind the mask. How did you connect with that on a personal level?
You know, with a lot of communities I come from, we grew up fatherless. Miles also has a great loss in his life with his father. So, just growing up with that and then being a mixed race coming from that background and having those challenges of finding your identity in both communities, you know, is definitely a very unique thing.
My mom is Jamaican and my dad is African-American, but he wasn’t in my life. So, walking in those shoes and being connected with Miles … it kind of shows all these things that we go through. The challenges and trials and tribulations that we all face, with family dysfunction or even just different family backgrounds — how we all come together as one is the main message that’s portrayed in Miles and Peter’s story.

An X (formerly Twitter) user has shared a picture of a billboard with images of about 20 Israeli children who are reported to have gone missing as the Israeli-Hamas war wages on.
The missing children in the Israeli-Hamas war are a tragic consequence of the conflict that erupted on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attackon Israel, killing and abducting hundreds of civilians.
Among the 242 hostages, 37 are children aged 18 or under, according to the Hostage and Missing Families Forum, a group set up to demand the return of those kidnapped on October 7.
This is currently in Accra, Ghana. How the fuck are we gonna find these “missing kids” ? pic.twitter.com/VyKlR3x2em
Adopting several means of urging the release of their children, such as posting their photos and names on social media platforms and using hashtags like #BringBackOurChildren, #FreeTheHostages, and #StopHamasTerror, one of these billboards displaying images of the alleged abducted children has been spottedin a part of Accra and this has garnered several reactions where netizens have attacked Ghana as “hypocritical”.
The cost of graves in Accra has observeda significant rise over the past five years, creating variations in pricing across different cemeteries in the capital, as reported by asaaseradio.com.
At the Osu Cemetery in Accra, the cost of a grave, including the service for digging, has seen a notable increase.
In 2018, the price was GH¢830, but it surged to between GH¢2,500 and GH¢3,500 last year and now stands at GH¢4,900.
Responding to social media claims supported by a receipt indicating a GH¢14,000 payment for a grave, the cemetery official dismissed the allegations as false.
He clarified that the standard cost is GH4,900, covering the site, digging, and other related services.
The Osu Cemetery worker emphasised the importance of a medical doctor providing the cause of death for obtaining a death certificate, a requirement for obtaining a burial permit.
He stated that the entire process costs GH4,900.
While the Awudome Cemetery has lower grave prices compared to Osu, it also experienced an increase. Those opting not to erect a tombstone pay GH¢1,100, while those desiring a well-laid tomb contribute GH¢2,600.
At Gethsemane Memorial Park in East Legon, the administrator, Albert Eyeson, stated that the cost of a burial plot is GH¢47,000. This amount includes a 20-year lease, grave digging, and tombstone construction. The recent GH¢2,000 increase was attributed to the government’s VAT increment.
For the government-run Madina Public Cemetery, caretaker Kofi Dampare revealed that the burial plot cost GH¢450, with additional fees for digging and customization. The prices, he added, have seen a rise over the past two years, mainly due to inflation rates.
The report highlights the varying costs of graves in different cemeteries, prompting concerns and discussions about the affordability and accessibility of burial spaces in Accra.
Renowned rapper, Snoop Dogg, known for his affinity for marijuana, reportedly consumes up to 150 joints daily, as revealed by his personal blunt roller, Renegade Piranha.
Since joining Snoop Dogg’s team in 2016, she claims to have rolled over 450,000 joints for him.
In return for her services, Snoop Dogg pays his blunt roller a yearly salary ranging from $40,000 to $50,000, along with providing free weed and additional perks.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Snoop Dogg announced on November 16, 2023, that he is giving up smoking. He shared a message on Instagram stating, “After much consideration with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke.
“Please respect my privacy at this time.” He also accused his blunt roller of lying about his daily consumption, displaying a pile of roaches (remains of smoked joints) as evidence.
This announcement sparked disbelief, shock, and humour among fans and celebrities. Some speculated that it might be a joke, trolling, or a promotional strategy for a new project.
Others praised his decision and wished him well, while some even offered to take his excess weed. Snoop Dogg has not provided further clarification on his decision to quit smoking, leaving uncertainty about whether he will adhere to this resolution.
The blogger is in police detention for allegedly uploading sexually explicit content and illegally using photos of Cyber Security Authority (CSA) staff, according to a statement released by the CSA on November 16, 2023.
“Reference is made to a publication on some social media platforms containing sexually explicit material and unlawful use of the images of Cyber Security Authority (CSA) officials by Samuel Dortey Kumah, owner of Sammykaymedia.
He has since been arrested and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service,” parts of the statement available to GhanaWeb read.
The statement further cautioned the general public on the publication of obscene materials, saying, “We wish to categorically state that the tagging of the images to this explicit material is a misrepresentation and of criminal attribution.
“The CSA dissociates itself from the same and admonishes the general public to disregard any such potential criminal misrepresentation.”

It said: “The CSA will continue to deliver on its mandate in collaboration with other security sector agencies to protect the digital ecosystem and the digital safety of Ghanaians.”
What exactly did Sammy Kay circulate?
While the statement did not explicitly describe the images Sammy Kay shared, checks on his social media platforms revealed that the blogger had issued an apology, which was accompanied by a photo of a gentleman in a white T-shirt with the inscription “National Cyber Security Awareness Programme.”
His apology shared on November 15, 2023, at 9.42 am read: “Upon further investigations, we found out this picture above is not the same person in the video circulating yesterday on Twitter.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the post we initially made and we deeply regret our actions in pairing this picture with Abena Korkor’s picture.”
The Abena Korkor factor
On November 15, a sexually explicit video circulated online, gaining traction on Twitter. The video featured a naked man engaging in explicit activities, accompanied by an unidentified woman in the top right corner also participating, suggesting a remote engagement in intimate activities.
Some Twitter users, lacking concrete evidence, speculated that Abena Korkor was responsible for the video’s release, referencing a previous threat she made after her own intimate video surfaced. Abena had vowed to release adult content involving two individuals whom she accused of leaking her video.
In response to the controversy and condemnation surrounding the featured individual and the related image, musician, satirist, and politician Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) vehemently denied the claim that the two individuals were the same person.
“I don’t know if he has undergone cosmetic surgery recently because the person in the viral video and my friend are two totally different people,” his post read.
The Vatican has officially affirmed the prohibition of Catholics joining the Freemasons, a centuries-old clandestine society that the Catholic Church has historically regarded with suspicion.
The Freemasons, with an estimated global membership of up to six million, have faced longstanding opposition from the Catholic Church.
“Active membership in Freemasonry by a member of the faithful is prohibited because of the irreconcilability between Catholic doctrine and Freemasonry,” the Vatican’s doctrinal office said in a letter published by Vatican media on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
The Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith, a department within the Vatican, has issued its stance, dated November 13 and endorsed by Pope Francis, in response to a concerned bishop from the Philippines regarding the increasing presence of Freemasons in the country.
This comes shortly after the same office announced that transgender individuals are permitted to be baptised, serve as godparents, and act as witnesses at Catholic weddings.
The letter on Freemasons cited a 1983 declaration, signed by the late Pope Benedict XVI, at the time the Vatican’s doctrine chief, stating that Catholics “in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion”.
Masonic lodges are normally male-only societies associated with arcane symbols and rituals. They have also sometimes been linked to conspiracy theories alleging undue influence on world affairs.
According to the United Grand Lodge of England, modern Freemasonry “is one of the oldest social and charitable organisations in the world”, rooted in the traditions of mediaeval stonemasons.
The group says it has 180,000 male members, with two parallel female lodges in England having another 5,000 members, and estimates global Freemasonry membership at around six million.
It lists the lateQueen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip, former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, the late actor Peter Sellers, former England soccer manager Alf Ramsey and authors Rudyard Kipling and Arthur Conan Doyle as famous Freemasons from the past.
Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, is allegedly going to step down in the coming days, according to Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament.
Dr. Forson says this information is coming from deep-throat sources within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“The Minister of Finance is going to resign after presenting this budget; well, so be it. Their own people, the NPP, NPP MPs and everyone else, are saying so.
“They are saying it to all of us, and I am sure you have heard it that the finance minister. Go and find out because I am hearing he is going to go,” he told TV3 in a post-budget reading interview on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Dr. Ato Forson asserted that Ken Ofori-Atta, should he decide to step down from his position, will be remembered for his shortcomings and lack of competence in overseeing Ghana’s economy for the past seven years, without providing additional details.
“Let me tell you, he will be remembered as the one who borrowed to benefit his businesses and his cronies. “This Minister of Finance will certainly be remembered as the one who destroyed Ghanaian business and the economy. “He is the same minister who has brought our financial sector to its knees,” the Minority Leader said.
In 2022, more than eighty NPP lawmakers called for the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta from his position.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, however, rejected this demand and suggested that the discussion be deferred until the conclusion of Ghana’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout.
Despite questions about Ken Ofori-Atta’s competence,President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has consistently expressed confidence in the finance minister on multiple occasions.
Paul Pogba’s agent has revealed that the French midfielder is focused on returning to competitive action and is diligently training during his suspension at Juventus.
The World Cup winner is currently serving a ban due to a failed drugs test, where he recorded elevated levels of testosterone after a Serie A match against Udinese on August 20.
The B sample confirmed the presence of the testosterone-boosting hormone DHEA. Pogba’s suspension in Turin has been extended indefinitely, and there’s a possibility of contract termination if he is found guilty of doping offenses at a sporting trial.
Despite the challenges, the 30-year-old is determined to fight for his return to the pitch.
Pogba’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, has told Relevo of plans for her client: “We see the future one day after the other. We are doing everything we must to try to explain what is happening with Paul.
“But this explanation has to happen in front of a judge. I think that to enable a judge to have independence and to reach his conclusions as he has to reach, we cannot influence him with public comments.
“We have our arguments, very serious and very important, and I have to offer the judge to endorse these arguments without trying to influence him. We are doing everything we have to do.
“Those who know Paul know what has happened. They know that Paul is an honest, correct person and that he always does things with integrity. He is living it with confidence and professionalism. He trains all the time and only thinks about getting through these difficult moments to come back.”
Pressed on whether Pogba could be cleared to resumehis career immediately once his case has been heard, Pimenta added: “We are working for this. I have confidence in the system. I have the tendency to trust until proven otherwise. I only have signs that it is a system that works. I hope you can understand our position.”
The France international is tied to a contract at Juventus through to 2026.
Monalisa Abigail Semeha, popularly known in the entertainment industryas “Mona Gucci,” has been put before an Accra Circuit Court over an alleged visa fraud.
The accused allegedly took GH¢103,400 from a trader under the pretext of securing her a United States of America visa.
Mona Gucci allegedly failed to deliver the said USA visa.
Charged with defrauding by false pretence, Mona Gucci, a travel consultant, pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Isaac Addo has admitted her to GH¢200,000.00 bail with one surety, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) reports.
Mona Gucci is expected to reappear on December 11, 2023.
The facts of case, as presented by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Seth Frimpong, are that the complainant, Comfort Obiri, was a trader and resident of Ofankor, while Mona Gucci is a resident of Odorkor in Accra.
The prosecution said in February 2019, the complainant was introduced to the accused person by one Esther as a person who could secure a United States of America visa for her.
It said the complainant met the accused person in Accra and she assured her that she could secure a USA visa for her at a cost of GH¢40,000.
The prosecution said the complainant introduced three other people to the accused person for her to secure visas for them as well.
It said the accused person collected GH¢103,400 from them under the pretext of securing the visas but failed.
During the recent court session, he had planned to call former Health Minister Alex Segbefia as his third witness, but Mr. Segbefia was not present.
“The first accused wishes to inform the court that we’re calling no further witnesses and we’re closing our case,” Dr. Ato Forson’s lawyer, Edudzi Tameklo, informed the court.
The second accused, Dr. Sylvester Anemana, who is the former Chief Director of the Health Ministry, has commenced presenting his defense in the Financial and Economic Court 2.
The judge stated, “A1 has closed his case; hence, A2 has been directed to open his defence.”
Attorneys representing the first and third accused did not raise objections to the witness statement provided by A2. This has cleared the path for state attorneys to proceed with the cross-examination.
In his witness statement, Dr. Anemana mentioned that he was transferred to the Ministry of Environment and, therefore, was not informed about the processes involved in the ambulance purchase after his departure from the health ministry.
He told the court that he retired from the Environment ministry. “I retired from the service in September 2015 when some ambulances were purchased. I do not see any financial loss to the state in a contract that hasn’t materialised even until today,” Dr. Anemana stated.
Dr. Anemana informed the court that Dr. Ato Forson was not the Deputy Minister for Finance at the time he wrote the contract letters for sole sourcing. This response came during the cross-examination by Dr. Ato Forson’s lawyers regarding the deputy finance minister’s role in signing the contract letters.
The lawyers for the first accused concluded their cross-examination, suggesting that Dr. Ato Forson had no involvement in the contract.
Lawyers for the third accused clarified that the 15.8 million euros was a loan secured from Stanbic for 200 ambulances. Dr. Anemana affirmed this statement.
Dr. Anemana asserted that the process of securing the loan began during his tenure at the health ministry.
The third accused stated that no money was directly paid to his client, Dzakpa, until directed by a high court.
Lawyers for the second accused applied for an amendment of bail terms to allow Dr. Anemana access to medical treatment in India.
The judge questioned the merit of the application, rejected it, and Mr. Owuradu, the lawyer, withdrew it with the intention of resubmitting later.
The judge struck out the application seeking the release of A2’s passport.
Ghanaian actress and musician Adomaa, born Joy Onyinyechukwu Adomaa Serwaa Adjeman, has expressed her preference for cremation upon her death.
In response to reports highlighting the rising cost of graves, Adomaa stated that she believes her deceased body would be more beneficial as fertiliser for a tree than occupying space and being buried in a casket with no purpose after her passing.
Honestly, I do not want to be buried in this way. Give my useful organs and parts to people who need them, then plant a seed with the rest of me (cremated or any inexpensive way) and let me exist as a tree. Y’all can have a picnic, play music, laugh and dance under the shade. I’d… https://t.co/JMHjEwF6PX

Rising Afrobeats artist Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, has addressed accusations regarding “demonic” masks worn during his performances, stating that they are replicas of the bronzes worn by his ancestors.
Following his show at London’s 02 Arena, Rema faced criticism and Illuminati rumours.
A supporter from Benin City defended Rema, asserting that the mask belonged to Queen Idia, a symbol of the Benin Kingdom.
“Rema is trying to lure his fans into his demonic rituals”
He emphasised that he aims to redefine Edo State and showcase it globally.
In his words, “RAVAGE UPRISING/My Ancestorsbronzes sit in the museum of this very city so I remade mine. Hence, Edo is redefined, the map reshaped, your minds awakened & the mask reborn. Thank you, London!????????”

Aggrieved Gold Coast Customer
Background
The Gold Coast Investment Fund Management Company is part of the fifty-three (53) Fund Management Companies (FMCs) whose licences were revoked by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 8, 2019.
This action was taken in accordance with Section 122 (2) (b) of the Securities Industry Act 2016 (Act 929) (SIA).
The revocation was prompted by numerous regulatory violations, including the failure to reimburse clients’ funds, estimated at eight billion cedis (GHS 8 billion), and substantial breaches of applicable rules posing risks to financial stability.
In 2021, Parliament approved GH¢5.5 billion for the settlement of owed customers of fund management companies, though the funds are yet to be distributed to the customers.
Member of Parliament for theOdododiodio constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has disclosed the factors influencing his decision to step down from parliament, citing frustration as a major element.
During an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM, Vanderpuye expressed his discontent with the difficulties encountered by Members of Parliament (MPs) in carrying out their responsibilities.
He emphasised the absence of support from political parties, leading to increasing pressure and a decline in interest over time.
“I am leaving parliament because I am frustrated; the [political] parties really do not protect the people they have [in parliament]. So, you are subjected to so much pressure that, after a time, you lose interest because you don’t get the sort of environment to be able to harmonise the talents and competence you have,” he explained.
Lamenting the high attrition rate in parliament, he said that many MPs from both sides of the House face similar frustrations, resulting in valuable contributors leaving the legislative body.
“The attrition rate in parliament is too high, and as such, people do not get the sort of experience they require to advance the work of parliament,” Vanderpuye remarked.
He additionally commended seasoned MPs for their valuable contributions to the House, citing figures like Dr. Osei Assibey and the late Dr. Akoto Osei.
Vanderpuye underscored the significance of parliamentary experience, emphasising that Speaker Alban Bagbin’s achievements are rooted in his extensive tenure as a Member of Parliament.
Newcastle United is reportedly considering a January move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to sources close to ESPN’s Rob Dawson.

Phillips, a £43 million ($53.6 million) acquisition from Leeds United in 2022, is eager for regular playing time before the Euros in Germany next summer.
Despite his competition, he has struggled to secure a spot in Pep Guardiola’s lineup, starting just four games last season and one this season in the Carabao Cup.
If he remains at City into the new year, he will face increased competition with the return of Kevin De Bruyne from a hamstring injury.
When enjoying your daily breakfast of eggs and toast, have you ever considered how many eggs are a suitable amount? Dr. James DiNicolantonio, a cardiovascular research scientist and doctor of pharmacy at Saint Luke’s Mid-America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, believes that a higher egg intake is linked to lower rates of heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cognitive decline.
He goes on to state in his Instagram post, “Eggs aren’t the enemy. Eggs are nature’s multivitamin. Eggs are healthy.”
A 2023 Nutrients journal-published study affirmed that hen’s eggs (from Gallus gallus domesticus) provide choline, folate, vitamin D, iodine, B vitamins and high-quality protein and are no longer viewed by national bodies as a risk factor for hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Yet, questions remain about the benefits and risks of eating eggs regularly.
The study went on to note that eggs are highly nutritious, accessible, and affordable. “The balance of evidence points towards eggs being nutritious, healthy and sustainable, rather than risky,” it read.
To help you re-look at your egg consumption, we break it down with an expert hand. It is proven beyond doubt that eggs are a nutritious food that can provide several health benefits.
They are a good source of high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, and selenium. Additionally, eggs contain healthy fats and antioxidants that support brain health and eye health.
Dr Samrat Shah, a consultant internist at Bhatia Hospital Mumbai, said that generally, it’s considered safe to consume seven eggs per week.
However, excessive egg consumption may have some side effects.
“Eggs are high in cholesterol, and consuming too much cholesterol can contribute to an increased risk of heart disease for some individuals. It is important to note that the cholesterol in eggs may affect people differently, and some individuals may be more sensitive to dietary cholesterol than others,” explained Dr Shah.
Therefore, it is recommended to consume eggs in moderation as part of a balanced diet and not go overboard. “If you have specific health concerns or conditions,it is best to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalised advice,” said Dr Shah.
Manchester United’s sporting director, John Murtough, is at risk of being the next casualty in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s planned overhaul.
As part of Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25% stake in United, granting control of the club’s sporting operations, Murtough, along with director of football operations David Harrison, is reportedly in danger of losing his job.
Murtough, who became United’s first-ever sporting director in 2021, oversaw a significant summer of transfers, including the signings of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite managing around £400 million ($496 million) in transfers over the past two years, some notable disappointments, like Antony and Mason Mount, have prompted concerns about his position.
The Sun reports that Dougie Freedman from Crystal Palace is under consideration by Ratcliffe as the potential next sporting director for Manchester United.
Another name mentioned is Monaco’s Paul Mitchell, who has previous experience at RB Leipzig and Southampton.
Ratcliffe, having successfully outbid rival Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, is poised to finalise his minority takeover in the coming weeks.
Lautaro Martinez’s agent has stated that the Argentina international desires to stay with Inter Milan for the entirety of his career.
Discussions are underway between the player and Nerazzurri to extend his existing contract, which is set to expire in June 2026.
“For me and Lautaro,, it is very important that Inter is willing to listen to us for a new extension despite a contract until 2026,” Martinez’s agent, Alejandro Camano, told Sky Sports.
“I want to thank the club for this possibility. The important thing for me is to see the possibility that Lautaro could stay at Inter for life. It’s a pleasure for me to be the agent of a man who keeps his head firmly on the ground, knowing that he has done a great job.
“Lautaro thinks that a very important part of his life is his relationship with Inter, with the club and with Italy.”
At the age of 26, Martinez, who joined Inter from the Argentine club Racing in 2018, has found the net 14 times in 16 appearances for Serie A leaders Inter this season.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to compete for the signing of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, as reported by AS.
The 21-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, allowing him to engage in discussions with non-Spanish clubs in January if a contract extension cannot be finalised.
Numerous other European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Juventus, and PSG, have expressed interest in Williams.
Premier League teams such as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham have reportedly scouted him, with Aston Villa having been unsuccessful in their attempt to secure the Spain international’s services during the summer.
Barcelona and Real Madrid both recognise how important signing a player of Williams’ calibre could be on a free transfer.
He has previously acknowledged theinterest he has attracted, stating that it means he is “doing things well” and that “it’s clear what decision [he] wants.”
Renowned musician Rex Omar has responded to the passing of Ghanaian professional footballerRaphael Dwamena, who tragically died on the field during a match in Albania.
The legendary Highlife singer expressed that the challenges in Ghana may have hindered the footballer from retiring when diagnosed with a heart condition.
In an interview with Property FM, he said, “All we can say is that God keeps his soul and grants him peace and we extend our deepest condolences also to the family of Raphael Dwamena.
“When things like this happen, it’s quite worrisome and what will make a young Ghanaian decide to travel abroad to play football and be diagnosed with a heart problem but still continue to play football?
“You know it’s just one thing; there are too many hardships in this country and so the person travelled to find greener pastures in order to bring something home but it’s quite unfortunate.”
He added that, although the situation is sad and disheartening, God knows best.
“In all these, let’s give thanks to God because the Bible says whatever happens, let’s give thanks to God and so we extend our condolences to his family,” he added on Property FM, monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Evangelist Patricia Oduro, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has vehemently denied rumors suggesting that she has been grappling with a stroke for an extended period.
Recent reports claimed that the founder of Heavenway Church was bedridden and afflicted with a stroke.
However, in a TikTok live video, Agradaa passionately rebuffed such assertions, emphasizing her refusal to let anyone utter negative declarations about her life.
She acknowledged having faced an illness but asserted that her condition has steadily improved, anticipating a complete recovery to provide a testament to God.
Nana Agradaa disclosed that she had been in a coma for seven days, with only her close associates able to attest to the severity of her ordeal.
“My mouth isn’t drooping, neither I’m I unable to walk or being wrapped in pampers,” she said. “I don’t have a stroke. The Bible says that as Christians, we must not allow the devil to make some pronouncements in our lives. Everyone can be ill but let’s not be projecting bad illnesses on people. I reject it in the mighty name of Jesus. Back to the sender! I am a warrior and I am a warrior for Christ.”
She continued: “I won’t deny that I haven’t been ill. I have been in coma and been under oxygen for seven days. Nobody has been able to survive that miracle but God has been able to deliver me.
“Seven days in coma is no joke. Those close to me know what I had faced. Go to the UGMC hospital they will give you, my records. If I have been off for a while, taking care of my life, it doesn’t mean that I am battling this sort of sickness.
“I won’t deny that I have been ill, but I am not battling stroke. I have been ill and I decided to recover and come out with a testimony but I have been compelled to address these issues. But God has saved me and he will not allow anyone to destroy me. Regardless of who you are, I won’t allow anyone to say such things about me,” she established.
Erling Haaland’s agent has chosen not to disclose the release clause in the striker’s contract, asserting that the Manchester City star is “the master of his destiny.”
The highly productive Norwegian forward scored 52 goals across all competitions last season, setting numerous records and contributing to City’s historic Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble.
His impressive performances this season have fueled speculation about potential interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
She went on to say of the transfer rumours that continue to rage: “Erling is the master of his destiny. Not just now but his entire life and 100%. What I mean is that you have to use balance. club and player. We are all in the same boat. Things have to be talked about and treated in such a way that everyone is okay. Comfortable and satisfied with the experience they have together. I think it is not necessary to say that Erling does what he wants. Is not true.
Erling is always going to do what is good for him and for his club, Manchester City. When everyone is willing to make a change, it will be done. He’s not the type of player who’s going to say, ‘I’m leaving; bye; I don’t want to know anything’. It is not like this. And it’s not going to happen because respect comes before everything. If they give it to him, he will give it too.”
Pimenta has suggested in the past that Haaland could be worth as much as €1 billion (£875m/$1bn) in the transfer market, and he has expanded on that comment by saying: “When I talk about 1 billion, I talk about a pack in which I include the years of career, the sales potential, tickets, t-shirts, sponsors, digital and everything that is coming that does not yet exist. It is impossible to say how much each thing costs. You are actually asking me how much the transfer costs and you don’t have to ask me this. The market says so.”
While Haaland is contracted with City until 2027, there have been indications that he might seek a new challenge at some point.Quizzed on whetherMadrid would appeal, as the inclement weather in Manchester has escaped, Pimenta added, “Every time I go to Madrid, I ask people what it’s like to live there and they always tell me it’s great.
But in other cities, it is also good. You don’t believe me when I say it but he’s very good in Manchester. He’s fantastic. He eats well, he has everything, he has a lot of football, and the people are friendly and calm. She said of the rain in England, “But that’s a matter of taste. As a Brazilian, I do understand it. But if you come from northern Europe, it’s normal. For us, it’s a bit heavy, but not for them.”
Real Madrid, under club president Florentino Perez’s ‘Galacticos’ recruitment policy, has consistently pursued high-profile signings, and Haaland aligns well with this strategy.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Real Madrid has abandoned its enduring pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. This shift in focus could potentially lead them to prioritize a future acquisition from Manchester City.
Theresa Mensah was born on Wednesday, October 25, 1934, in Kumasi. She was born to the late Joseph Henry Mensah Snr. (aka Paapa), a colonial civil servant who hailed from Elmina, and Rose Mensah (née Maame Abena Tabuaa), the daughter of the Banmuhene of Sunyani Domase, Nana Kofi Amoah, and Obaapanyin Yaa Donkor.
Maame sold textiles supplied by the United African Company. Theresa, or Aba, as she was popularly known, was the seventh of the ten children born to the couple who survived to adulthood.
The family settled in a large house in the Adum business district of Kumasi. They spoke Fante at home and were devout Catholics. The family was close-knit, so she grew up supported and surrounded by love.
Theresa started her primary schooling at St. Benedict’s and continued at Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) girls’ boarding school in the Volta Region. During the holidays, she and some of her siblings would visit their eldest sister, Grace Quist-Arcton, a senior educationist who lived in Tamale with her husband, Edward A. Quist-Arcton.
Theresa had an ear for languages and learned Ewe and Hausa, in addition to the Twi, Fante and English that she spoke flawlessly. After Standard 7, she declined to complete the forms that would have allowed her to continue her education at OLA. She stuck to her decision even though her eldest brother, J H Mensah Jnr (aka Brother Abew), to whom she was close, encouraged her to pursue academic study.
Theresa chose instead to work at Komfo Anokye Hospital as a staff nurse. She started this job without her father’s knowledge but he offered her his support when he realised how determined she was. Paapa decided that JH Jnr should help Theresa enrol in a nurse’s training course in Edinburgh, in the United Kingdom. Brother Abew helped his sister with all the forms, including her passport application.
The passport arrived late, when the nursing course had already started, and her brother noticed officials had made an error with her date of birth. He pointed it out but Aba refused to delay her trip further and the mistake became her official date of birth.
Between 1958 and 1961, she trained as a registered general nurse at the Edinburgh Southern Hospitals School of Nursing. Life in Edinburgh was good, despite the weather. Theresa enjoyed the social life and made some good friends. One of her friends, Emma Bentil, became her sister-in-law when she married Dr Peter Mensah (now deceased), who was a sibling.
In 1962, Theresa completed her midwifery (Part I) at the Nuffield Maternity Home in Oxford, followed by Part II at Paddington General Hospital on the Harrow Road in London, now known as St Mary’s Paddington. She also took a course in premature baby nursing in 1963 and obtained a certificate in advanced nursing administration from the Royal College of Nursing in 1980.
Before continuing her studies in Oxford, she attended a Republic Day dance in London with a friend.
Unknown to her, a young man who had recently been called to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn was also going to the dance. Coincidentally, he was planning to move on to Exeter College, Oxford, to further his studies, and had been advised by a friend to take a good look at Miss Theresa.
John Agyekum Kufuor had set his heart on working in the public service and he wanted to find a Ghanaian woman to support him in that career. He asked to change partners on the dance floor and introduced himself to Theresa. They became friends. They later saw each other in Oxford and renewed their acquaintance.
The following year, during a trip to Ghana to register for the Ghana Bar, John Kufuor told his mother about his friendship with Aba. His mother knew of the Mensah family, so she told him to take a bottle of schnapps to Okyeso, the Mensah family home, by way of an introduction. John was accompanied by a relative. At Okyeso, they saw Maame and her senior brother, Master Buahin, who recognised John from his time at Government Boys’ School. J H Mensah Snr (aka Paapa) was cordial and accepted the bottle of schnapps, but unfortunately he died within a couple of weeks.
The heartbroken Theresa could not attend her father’s funeral. However, John Agyekum Kufuor and his family were there.
The couple decided to get engaged and were married at the Brompton Oratory in Knightsbridge, London, on 8 September 1962. Theresa was sad that her father would not be walking her down the aisle. However, her brother JH was in London on his way to a conference, so he assumed that role.
The newlyweds began their married life in Oxford and after they completed their studies they moved to Muswell Hill in north London. The couple had three children within three years. Their first child, John Addo Kwabo (aka Chief), was followed by Anne-Marie Nana Ama Ampomah a year later and Helen Nana Saah the year after that. By this time (1965) the family had returned to Ghana and set up home in Kumasi, and Theresa began working at Tech Hospital on the campus of the University of Science and Technology. She had many friends and worked alongside the best of her friends, Justina Osei-Bonsu.
In 1968, the couple had a fourth child, a son named Edward Kojo Agyekum.
When the Progress Party won the general election of 1969 and Theresa Kufuor’s husband became a Member of Parliament, the family moved to Accra. He was appointed a deputy minister of foreign affairs so he travelled frequently on government business. Theresa focused on supporting him, hosting dignitaries and raising her children. Her best friend, Justina, had also moved to Accra because her husband, Kwabena Gyima Osei-Bonsu, was also an MP (for Asokwa) and a minister of state.
The idyll was short-lived. On 13 January 1972 the couple awoke to news that the government of Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia had been overthrown by Colonel Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, who installed the National Redemption Council.
Theresa’s husband entered detention at Ussher Fort in Accra while she was expecting her fifth child. She began to pay regular visits to her husband in prison and set about rebuilding her life with her four young children. Her brother JH was also in detention at Nsawam Prison. She drew strength from her Catholic faith as she fasted and prayed. Her strength of character and determination to do things her way helped during this period. Family and friends rallied around, with her elder sister Cecilia’s husband Mr Frimpong (aka Bench) and her mother, Maame, being among the frequent visitors to the small house in Kanda.
In June 1972, Theresa had her last child, a boy named Victor Kofi Owusu Afriyie Mensah.
She befriended some of the wardens at Ussher Fort and they would sometimes come home for a meal and to collect her husband’s laundry before their shift. Children were not allowed visits to the prison, a policy with which she disagreed. On Christmas Day, she took her children to Ussher Fort, muttering about them not being allowed to see their father. She told the older ones to stand outside by the small metal gate with bars in the wall which linked the cells to the waiting area and went inside with the baby wrapped in her cloth. Her determination paid off: Mr Kufuor saw the baby during that visit and waved to the other children as he walked, with a guard, to and from the visiting area.
Mrs Kufuor was a strict but loving mother. She taught her children to work hard, attend Mass regularly and always have faith in God. Their lives revolved around Christ the King Church and its school, which all the children attended. They were also registered as members of the Catholic Youth Organisation and the Boy Scouts or Girl Guides. She seemed to know everything that happened in her house and anyone caught breaking a rule was dealt with.
She was a good storyteller who had a way with words and the house was always filled with laughter. She could whistle every family member’s name clearly, including her husband’s. She was sociable and caring and had a group of loyal friends. She was also a mother to all manner of people and the house was often full.
Her husband was released from prison after 15 months and they set about rebuilding their lives. In the middle of 1973, she began work as the first matron of the newly established Cocoa Clinic.
The Third Republic was inaugurated in 1979 and Theresa’s husband re-entered Parliament as the deputy minority leader. Family life was busy, with the children engaged in extracurricular activities while Theresa continued to work full-time and support her husband. After Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings seized power in a coup in 1981, however, life became difficult. The couple decided to send the older children to London for safety. In 1982 the eldest two left and they were followed a year later by the third. Mrs Kufuor was now supporting her family on two continents. She left Cocoa Clinic and ventured into self-employment.
In 1992 it was decided that Ghana would return to democratic rule and Theresa threw herself into supporting her husband in all his campaigning. She extended her network, attended rallies and used her local language skills to good effect. She spoke Ga fluently, too. She was at her husband’s side when he won the nomination to lead the New Patriotic Party in the 1996 presidential election and was there when he conceded defeat to President Rawlings.
He ran again in 2000 and she became the First Lady when John Kufuor was sworn in as President on 7 January 2001.
Theresa shunned the limelight but graciously accepted the responsibility of being a mother to the nation. As she was a nurse, she decided to focus on issues that had a bearing on women’s and children’s lives – the need to provide advice and vocational training opportunities for young women; community-run crèches; pre-school facilities and micro-enterprises that would lead to long-term self-sufficiency. She attended Mass at Christ the King regularly despite her busy schedule, and was often to be seen singing with the choir, which she joined in 1995.
Mrs Kufuor set up a non-governmental organisation, the Mother and Child Community Development Foundation, to assist women and children living in deprived areas. Her achievements include the establishment of development centres in underdeveloped areas of Accra such as Kotobabi and Amasaman. She facilitated the acquisition and installation of a mammogram machine for Sunyani General Hospital and sponsored training in soap-making, dress-making and shea butter processing in areas such as Kumasi, Koforidua and the then three Northern regions.
The Foundation also built and equipped a bakery in Nsawam.
She spoke tirelessly about the need to help curb the spread of HIV/Aids in Africa by setting targets for prevention, treatment, care and support. She travelled extensively, locally and internationally, with and without her husband. Theresa was a good ambassador for Ghana. She worked behind the scenes to influence government policy in areas such as free school feeding, free medical care for pregnant women and free, compulsory and universal basic education.
After her husband left office in January 2009, Theresa continued her advocacy and support work through her Foundation. She also spent more time with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
She visited her siblings Brother JH, Brother Peter and Sister Ama often. She attended Mass even when she was unwell, because she did not want her brother to miss seeing her at church and worry.
She was proud when, in 2010, the Vatican bestowed on her the award of Papal Dame of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great.
Theresa retired from public life due to ill-health. She bore her illness bravely and with quiet dignity.
She caught a cold at the end of August 2023 and was admitted to hospital. She rallied and was discharged after a few days but she remained frail. She slipped away gracefully and peacefully at the family house in Peduase in the afternoon of 1 October 2023 with her family gathered around her.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years,John Agyekum Kufuor, one sister, all five of her children and 14 grandchildren.
Theresa Aba Kufuor, born on October 25, 1934 (officially October 25, 1935), died on October 1, 2023
National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has acknowledged the increasing apprehension about a decline in the standard of representation in Ghana’s Parliament.
During an appearance on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, November 16, the former NDC General Secretary affirmed his alignment with the perception that there has been a noticeable shift in how individuals perceive and approach parliamentary roles.
He highlighted the transformation from the traditional view of parliament as a platform for serving citizens to a more contemporary perspective where people view it as an investment.
“It is true that the quality of representation has declined, and it is not just an opinion; there is one survey report that has cited what the speakers have been talking about,” stated Asiedu Nketia.
The National Chairman of the NDC pointed out a crucial factor contributing to this decline, emphasising the negative impact of the increasing monetization of politics.
He added that in the past, individuals were driven to enter parliament by a genuine passion to serve the nation. However, the current scenario paints a different picture, with individuals now viewing parliamentary positions as a strategic investment opportunity.
“One of the key causes has been the overmonetization of politics; in the past, people went to parliament out of a passion to serve the nation. Now people go to parliament as a means of investment. Some just want a service passport to do their business.”
Asiedu Nketia advocated for a collaborative effort to overturn this trend, stressing the necessity of returning to the values of authentic public service that were once synonymous with Ghana’s Parliament.
However, he acknowledged the difficulty in implementing criteria, particularly educational qualifications, for political parties to consider before approving an aspirant to contest a parliamentary seat.
David Beckham is optimistic about England’s chances in Euro 2024, believing that their talented squad could put an end to their international tournament struggles.
The former England captain expressed his hope during his attendance at the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final between New Zealand and India in Mumbai, where he served in his role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
At 48 years old, Beckham highlighted the quality of the Three Lions’ squad, emphasising the contribution of both young talents like Jude Bellingham and seasoned veterans like Harry Kane.
Despite England’s strong performances in recent international tournaments, they haven’t clinched a victory since the 1966 World Cup.
They reached the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 and suffered a heart-wrenching loss to Italy in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.
With a secured spot at the Euro 2024 championships,Beckham remains hopeful for England’s success.
“I really believe in this England team,” Beckham told AFP. “I believe in Gareth Southgate and what he’s doing and what he’s done for a number of years now. We were unfortunate to lose in the Euros final against Italy, but we were so close.
“And I’ve seen that when our national team has some kind of success, the way our country comes together is incredible.”
“I don’t want to speak too soon, but with the 2024 Euros, I think that we have a real opportunity with young players like Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, and the other players that we have in the team.
“And of course, you know, we have a captain like Harry Kane who still continues to inspire his team and still continues to score goals. So I think we have a real opportunity.”
On Friday, England will host Malta before embarking on a trip to North Macedonia three days later. Despite having already secured qualification, their aim is to finish strongly, ensuring they attain top seeding in next month’s group-stage draw.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has announced that inPresident Akufo-Addo’s final year in office, Ghana is projected to reach the GH¢1 trillion Gross Domestic Product (GDP) mark for the first time in its history.
He expressed confidence in the prospects of the 2024 budget, outlining that the government plans to implement fiscal consolidation measures and growth strategies to attain this significant economic milestone.
“Mr. Speaker, the 2024 budget is even more significant because we will cross the GH¢1 trillion Gross Domestic Product (GDP) mark for the first time in our economic history. Let me repeat, Mr. Speaker, Ghana’s economy under President Akufo-Addo’s final year in office is projected to be valued at over GH¢1 trillion in 2024 from GH¢219.5 billion in 2016,” he said while presenting the 2024 budget in parliament on November 15, 2023.
He added: “It is important to recall that despite the ‘poly crises’ since March 2020, we have, together, taken a GDP of GH¢219.5 billion in 2016 and almost quadrupled it. We are crossing the GH¢1 trillion GDP mark this year.”
The presentation of the 2024 budget is in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and Section 21(3) of the PFM Act 2016 (ACT 921), which mandates the minister to present the fiscal policy of the year in the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the government.
This budget holds particular significance as it comes after Ghana entered into a $3 billion loan facility for economic recovery to address high debt issues.
Additionally, it marks the end of the current president’s term in power.
The budget is anticipated to tackle challenges such as high inflation rates and unstable exchange rates, addressing various economic concerns.
Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, that the construction of the La General Hospital is set to commence next week.
Before the 2020 elections, the existing La General Hospital in Labadi, Accra, was demolished, and the government pledged to build a modern facility in its place.
Although President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo initiated the construction of the ultra-modern hospital on August 10, 2020, no progress has been made at the project site three years later, causing frustration among residents of the La community and its surroundings.
During the presentation of the 2024 Budget and Financial Statement, Ken Ofori-Atta assured that the contractor for the project will begin work on the site next week.
He emphasised that the project is now included in the government’s budget.
“Mr. Speaker, the government has renegotiated the contract terms of the La General Hospital Project and will now be funded through the national budget.
“The contractor is expected back on-site next week to complete a significant amount of work by 2024,” he said.
Presidents Florentino Perez of Real Madrid and Joan Laporta of Barcelona have reportedly resigned from their positions on the Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) board of directors.
The decision, communicated to RFEF President Pedro Rocha in late October, is driven by their intention not to interfere in the upcoming RFEF electoral process scheduled for early 2024.
The resignations signify a deliberate step back from involvement in the RFEF presidential campaign, aiming to maintain a neutral stance and ensure a fair electoral process.
The Higher Sports Council (CSD) President, Victor Francos, granted authorization on October 11 for RFEF general elections in the first quarter of 2024, aligning with the federative body’s request.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to resume their La Liga campaigns against Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano, respectively, after the international break.

Efya expressed her admiration for Sarkodie during an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with host Kwame Dadzie.
Kwame Dazdie: You have had a lot of collaborations, which one of them would you say gave you the biggest visibility?
Efya: I have worked with almost 120 artistes. So I think my hardest collaboration would be with Sarkodie because it was fire. It changed my language but it is cool.
Kwame Dadzie: How does it feel working with Sarkodie?
Efya: It was wonderful, such an amazing guy always coming through for the gang you know.
Sarkodie has been criticized on some occasions by other artistes who complain of him being snobbish when he is approached for a collaboration.
The Brazilian forward, who recently became his country’s all-time leading goalscorer, is renowned for his distinctive off-field style.
Known for breaking away from the norm, the 31-year-old has previously sported flamboyant hairstyles during his stints with Santos, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
Neymar has now opted for a new beginning by revealing on Instagram that he has shaved off all his hair.
Al-Hilal has deregistered Neymar following his unfortunate ACL injury during his 2026 World Cup qualifying duty with Brazil.
Facing several months on the sidelines, there is no immediate place for him in the plans of his Middle Eastern employers, and a lengthy recovery process lies ahead.
Neymar, with just five appearances for Al-Hilal and one goal, is rumoured to be considering a premature end to his spell in Saudi Arabia as he allegedly eyes an emotional return to his roots at Santos.
Chief Executive Officer of Berekum Chelsea, Bernard Amofa Jantuah, has stressed that he doesn’t depend on politics for survival, asserting that he is already a self-made individual.
In an interview on Angel FM, Amofa, who is a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bantama Constituency, mentioned that he can effortlessly earn $200,000 as a private individual.

“As I sit here with you, I don’t want to say some things. I have a contract to supply gold to Dubai in which we are talking about millions of dollars. I can show you proof that will shock you,” he added.
Mr. Jantuah, while underscoring his achievements as a businessman, warned his critics, reiterating that he doesn’t rely on politics for his sustenance.
As the bankroller of Berekum Chelsea, he participated in the internal elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2022, vying for the chairmanship position in the Bantama Constituency.

Several Ghanaians, including Dormaahene Oseadeyo Agyeman Badu II, have argued that the Chieftaincy Act’s exclusive mention of the Asantehene is biassed and requires correction.
Dormaahene Oseadeyo Agyeman Badu II contends that there are other paramount chiefs in Ghana who hold similar positions as overlords like the Asantehene.
However, these traditional rulers are not acknowledged in the Chieftaincy Act, creating an impression that the Otumfuo is superior to all of them.
Oseadeyo Agyeman Badu II has called for the inclusion of these paramount chiefs, such as the Yagbonwura, Yaa-Naa, Nayiri, and the Ga Mantse, who oversee other paramount chiefs, to be added to the Chieftaincy Act.
Historian and lawyer Yaw Anokye, commenting on this matter in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb, expressed that these calls are not justified.
He explained that although the mentioned paramount chiefs are also overlords like the Asantehene, the Asantehene deserves specific mention in the constitution due to his superior powers and historical significance.
“They (the overloads) are placed under the same status but the Asantehene’s own is more conspicuous. Because he came from a broken nation so he is more recognised.
“They (the other overlords) are living in the shadows of the Asantehene, it would never be justified to put them in the same category. The name Asantehene there (in the Chieftaincy Act) covers the rest and it is enough,” he said.
He further stated, “Apart from him being on top of paramount chiefs, he also has the power to enstool paramount chiefs, he also has the power to destool paramount chiefs. And below the paramount chiefs, he (the Asantehene) goes to the level of divisional chiefs and Odikros in Ashanti and his influence is there and these others (the other overlords) exercise a few of those powers”.
He further mentioned that, excluding the Asantehene, every traditional stool in Ghana possesses kingmakers responsible for the enstoolment or destoolment of paramount chiefs.
“In Ashanti, theAsantehene can say this person I don’t accept this person to be a chief but in other parts of the country, once a candidate has been introduced by a queen mother and they have got their kingmakers’ (agreement), there is no power above the person who can say yes or no… In Ashanti, it is a different ball game; that is why we give him that singular recognition.”
Section 58 of the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759) mentions the categories of chiefs in Ghana as follows:
(a) the Asantehene and Paramount Chiefs, (b) Divisional Chiefs, (c) Sub-divisional Chiefs, (d) Adikrofo, and (e) other chiefs recognised by the National House.
It appears that there is a lack of consensus between the maternal and paternal sides of the late Ghanaian footballer, Raphael Dwamena, regarding matters surrounding his unfortunate passing and subsequent issues.
During a Peace FM interview on Monday, November 13, 2023, the father of the late striker, Patrick Amoako Sefa, shared the details of how he was informed about his son’s demise.
He emphasised the family’s ongoing communication with the Ghanaian wife of the late 28-year-old striker and the role she played in the family’s efforts to repatriate the body for burial and funeral rites.
While seeking assistance from the Ghana Football Association to facilitate the transportation of the body from Albania to Ghana, Patrick Amoako Sefa revealed that the wife served as the primary contact between the family and the Albanian authorities.
“We’ve spoken to his wife and she indicated that they were making provisions to secure a flight to bring the body to Ghana. We need help to bring the body to Ghana. We are appealing to the Ghana Football Association and all persons to help us bring the body to Ghana,” he said.
A day after Patrick Amoako Sefa, the father of late Ghanaian footballer Raphael Dwamena, shared his perspective, Dwamena’s mother, sister, and uncle appeared on Onua TV, offering an account of events that sharply contrasted with that of Dwamena’s father.

The purported uncle of Dwamena stated that attempts to establish contact with the wife had been unsuccessful.
He revealed that Dwamena’s sister tried calling the wife five times, but all calls went unanswered. According to him, the calls persisted until the wife allegedly turned off her phone, leaving them with no means of obtaining firsthand information from someone close to the player in Albania.
The supposed uncle, who claimed to have discovered that Dwamena was living with his wife in Albania after the unfortunate incident, mentioned that the player’s agent had become their liaison.
He further disclosed that the agent, whose name he withheld, had been providing the family with information about the developments surrounding the player’s demise.
“We only found out that his wife was staying with him after his death. This is because whenever we try to establish contact with her over the incident, she tells us she’s busy.
“When it happened, the sister claims she tried getting in touch with the wife but all five attempts were unsuccessful. She even switched the phone off. We were lucky to have heard from his manager, who is now our point of contact there,” he said on Onua TV.
The 28-year-old Ghanaian striker,Raphael Dwamena, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, during an Albanian league match between his team Egnatia and Partizani.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has emphasised that he doesn’t dwell on those who fail to appreciate his outstanding 2022–2023 performance.
Instead, he gives credit to fellow players.
The Napoli forward expressed apparent disappointment when none of the African representatives on the 2023 Ballon d’Or voting panel selected him as their first choice.
During a conversation with former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi, the top scorer in Serie A among Africans asserted that, despite not being the favoured choice for African voters, he secured an 8th position in the rankings.
“What you said I just saw it today, this morning. A friend of mine just showed it to me. I feel like, for me, everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is what I always believed. No one can deny the effort that I put in last season. No one can downplay what I did.
“I feel like at the end of the day, I came 8th. Even if I came 8th or 10th or 11th, I think I’ve done so much for myself to get the recognition and the one I’ll continue to have. So for me, It doesn’t really change anything.”
He added that he gives no attention to people who do not acknowledge his efforts; hence, he does not dwell on such issues.
“They can vote for who they like because for me it is all love. I don’t take these things into consideration. I focus on the people that love me so much…wholeheartedly.
“The ones that support me, the ones that defend me and everything. My family, my friends—these are the things that really matter to me. Not the ones that try to downplay what I’ve worked for, the season that I had, and then put the credit on another man.”
A panel of 100 journalists from diverse countries was selected to cast their votes for the 30 players shortlisted for the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
Journalists are chosenbased on FIFA’s rankings, with one representative from each of the top 100 ranked nations granted a vote.
In the voting process, each journalist selects their top five players, with the first receiving six points, the second earning four, the third gaining three, the fourth securing two, and the fifth obtaining one point.
The three players accumulating the highest points form the top three shortlist, with the player garnering the highest points ultimately winning the award.
Representing Ghana, Michael Oti Adjei from TV3 network cast his vote, while Samm Audu from scorenigeria voted on behalf of Nigeria.
Oti Adjei’s top five choices were Erling Haaland, Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, and Victor Osimhen. On the other hand, Audu voted for Messi, Haaland, Mbappe, Osimhen, and Jude Bellingham.
Adams, in a post on Twitter, indicated that Chigova died on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, after failing to recover from a heart attack.
The SuperSports United goalie suffered cardiac arrest during training in July 2023, which kept him out of action until his death.
Speaking on Chigova’s health complications back in July, Super Sports manager Grant Hunt confirmed that it did not look good.
“I have not been briefed on the diagnosis or the whole thing; I’m not a doctor. But I know that there is a problem that we are attending to at this point in time and we will know in the next week or so,” said Hunt via iDiskiTimes.
“He’s going to spend four weeks just being inactive and go from there. But it doesn’t look positive, but we will give him all the support we can and stay behind him as best we can,” he added.

Aspiring parliamentary candidate for theNew Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afram Plains South Constituency of the Eastern Region, William Hor, has appealed to party delegates and constituents to grant him the mandate for the third time.
He urged them to vote for him to represent them in Parliament, emphasising his understanding of their concerns.
Hor called for a shift in favour of candidates who can connect with the people, contrasting them with individuals solely focused on personal interests.
He positioned himself as the ideal candidate to challenge the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP, Joseph Appiah, on behalf of the NPP.
Speaking to the media in Koforidua after successfully undergoing the vetting process and securing the second position, he expressed his readiness to serve the constituents.
He said: “I want to make a significant impact in society through development and support, and also to be the most visible and approachable MP who will make a difference”.
Given his close connection with the people, William Hor believes he comprehends their challenges and possesses the vision to bring about positive transformations in the local communities if granted the mandate to lead the party.
Hor highlighted his extensive service to the NPP in various capacities, starting from the grassroots level. He asserted that his years of dedication to the party uniquely position him to lead the NPP in the upcoming contest.
A banker and businessman, William Hor served as the Managing Director of First Ghana Savings and Loans Limited. His political journey includes being a TESCON executive at Koforidua Technical University, the Afram Plains South Constituency secretary, and a two-time parliamentary candidate in 2016 and 2020.
Born on November 5, 1974, Hor began his education in Mafi Srekpe, Volta Region, and later attended New Oworobong in the Kwahu South District for a middle school leaving certificate. He continued his education at Abetifi Technical Institute, obtaining RSA stage 1 and 2 and O’level in 1994.

During a press conference in Accra,Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, announced the Ghanaian government’s initiative to develop a national policy on religion.
The primary objective of this policy is to address challenges arising from the coexistence of diverse faiths and beliefs within society.
The policy aims to establish a framework that safeguards the rights of religious groups and mitigates conflicts arising from religious differences.
Since assuming office in April, Minister Boateng has been actively addressing issues related to religious activities and beliefs.
Consultations with religious leaders and civil society underscored the necessity for a comprehensive policy to manage challenges, including but not limited to weak enforcement of laws, noise pollution, and the exploitation of vulnerable populations.
“I have also had opportunities to interact with leaders of religious bodies and civil societies to find harmonious coexistence amongst the citizenry. Part of the discussions have centred on how the religious bodies would be encouraged to put in structures to self-manage their front,” he added.
The minister commended religious leaders for their positive impact on society and conveyed the government’s dedication to proactively address concerns related to religion in Ghana.
As per the 2021 Population and Housing Census, 21.9 million Ghanaians identify as Christians and 6.1 million as Muslims, with other categories encompassing traditionalists, followers of different religions, and non-religious individuals.
To ensure inclusivity, 16 regional stakeholder consultations are slated in the coming weeks as part of the policy development process. Supported by theUnited Nations Population Fund Ghana (UNFPA) Country Office, these consultations aim to promote religious harmony, diversity, and tolerance.
“It has been a real pleasure establishing a working partnership with the country representative. A partnership that will see bigger joint programmes into next year,” he added
Dr. Wilfred Ochan, UNFPA Country Representative, emphasised the crucial role played by religious leaders in guiding communities and fostering positive values.
Underscoring the significance of a national framework, he called on all stakeholders to actively engage in consultations, emphasizing the potential for collaborative programs in the future.
After the Supreme Court dismissed his application challenging the eligibility of formerPresident John Dramani Mahama to contest the 2024 elections, Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, the Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight, has affirmed his determination to rectify the errors in his suit and refile it in court.
The Supreme Court declared Kuranchie’s application defective on Tuesday, November 14.
Despite the setback, Kuranchie, who is also a private legal practitioner, spoke to reporters, acknowledging the discussions around the potential outcome and maintaining a resilient stance.
“We have been having discussions about this process for about two weeks now, and this was envisaged as a possible outcome. As lawyers, when we come to court, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but if you take it along in your stride, then you hope for a better day,” 3news.com quoted him to have said.
While admitting that oversights can occur in legal processes, he assured that he would correct the errors in his documents and return them to court.
“Sometimes these oversights happen. I shall be contesting primaries, after the primaries, on December 2, I will have more time to correct the documents and come back.”
The journalist-turned-politician, Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, initiated legal action against the former president in June 2023, challenging his eligibility for another presidential candidacy. In his court filing, he sought a clear interpretation of Article 66 (1) of the 1992 Constitution, specifically addressing the presidential term duration of four years.
Kuranchie argued that a proper interpretation of Article 62 of the Constitution would imply that a former Ghanaian president is not qualified to seek re-election.
Consequently, he urged the court to bar John Mahama from pursuing his presidential aspirations.
However, in aSupreme Court ruling on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the court dismissed the suit, affirming that the former president, John Dramani Mahama, is eligible to run in the 2024 General Elections.
Among the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) aspirants contending for parliamentary candidature in the Volta Region, six women are among the total of 29 aspirants vying for positions in 13 constituencies within the region.
The women include Madam Fidelia Abla Awakoe for Ketu South, Lady Elizabeth Segbenu Agah for South Tongu, Juliana Kpedekpo for Adaklu, Millicent Nana Yaa Sokro for Ho Central, and Mrs. Anoinette Oklu and Setorwu Abla Ofori-Atta, both competing for the Kpando seat.
The National Executive Committee of the party has scheduled the vetting of aspirants for parliamentary candidates across the country from November 14 to 16, 2023.
On Tuesday, November 14, aspirants from Keta, Ketu South, Akatsi South, North Tongu, South Tongu, and Central Tongu constituencies will undergo the vetting process.
On Wednesday, November 15, aspiring candidates from Kpando, South Dayi, Agotime-Ziope, Adaklu, Ho West, and Ho Central will undergo the vetting process.
The vetting for aspirants from Afadzato South will conclude on Thursday, November 16, marking the end of the vetting process for this region.
However, Akatsi North and Ketu North have been excluded from the exercise, and the release did not provide reasons for this decision.
The supervisory responsibilities for the vetting exercise in the Volta region have been assigned to Alhaji Masawudu Osman (Chairman), Kwadwo Afari, and Kwame Peter, as stated in the release.
The party has set December 2, 2023, for the Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference, where parliamentary candidates will be elected for constituencies without current parliamentary representation.
Additionally, the National Executive Committee has rescheduled the Party’s Parliamentary Primaries in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.
The new date for these primaries is January 20, 2024.
Nominations will open on December 20, 2023, and close on December 22, 2023, with only the Hohoe Constituency represented, as Mr. John-Peter Amewu holds the sole seat out of the 18 constituencies.
Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, John Jinapor, claims the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, will impose a new tax in the 2024 Budget to raise an additional GH 11 billion.
“We just met the Minister of Finance at the Finance Committee and the minister indicated that he intends to raise an additional GH₵11 billion, which is about 1 percent of GDP but we have told him that we think that the people have been taxed so much that it will be inappropriate to come with new taxes; rather, the minister should look at cost cutting,” Jinapor said.
He added, “I think that it is improper and unacceptable to further come out with new taxes and increase the tax burden on Ghanaians.” The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is set to present the government’s 2024 Annual Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Leading up to the presentation, there are widespread calls for the government to significantly curtail its expenditures to alleviate the struggling economy.
Last week, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dalex Finance and Leasing Company Limited, Kenneth Thompson, issued a warning about a potential economic downturn in 2024 if the government persists in its current trend of escalating and substantial expenditures.
In related discussions, Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Paul Twum Barimah, hinted at the government’s potential introduction of an emission tax to address the impacts of climate change.
Also, Albert Sandaare, the Member of Parliament for Daffeama Bussie Issa, suggested that the government should consider either eliminating the COVID-19 levy or renaming it.
He argued that despite the commencement of oil production in 2010, there is little to show for it, with successive governments failing to effectively harness these resources.
During the opening ceremony of the 2023 plenary assembly of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Sunyani, Rev. Gyamfi highlighted that the nation is facing a decline due to a lack of efficient utilisation of its natural resources.
He pointed out that corruption has become prevalent, contributing to the country’s challenges.
“There have been no significant positive changes in the economy since we became an oil-producing country. What happened to the gold and other mineral resources? Why are most of our roads in such a deplorable state? Why do we keep going to the IMF? Why do we keep borrowing so much when we are a rich nation?” he is quoted by citinewsroom.com to have said.
He continued, “Both governments [NPP, NDC] keep borrowing, and we are now in a deep financial crisis. Why are we in this economic and financial quagmire? The massive, uncontrolled corruption is suffocating the nation.
It appears corruption is legalised. What should Ghanaians do since the existing form of democracy helps only a few and leaves the majority behind? What about the impunity and arrogance of some politicians and their defence of corruption?”
He also raised the question of whether Ghana’s constitution should undergo a review to address the persistent situation where the country continuously seeks financial assistance from foreigners despite possessing a wealth of natural resources.
“Should the constitution not be changed or bettered for it to work for all Ghanaians instead of for a few? Should the legal system not be re-equipped to uproot corruption?
“What about our Parliament where the interests of the people are sacrificed for personal and party interests? Why have we not implemented the findings of the Constitutional Review Committee?
“Can the governments explain to us why we are in this economic mess? What explanations can the two political parties give to Ghanaians for the unfavourable agreements we sign on our oil, minerals, power generation, etc.?
“Countries that have these resources in abundance are rich. Why do we remain poor? Ghanaians no longer accept the old explanations that the governments of Ghana have been giving,” Rev Gyamfi concluded.
The premier teaching and referral health facility has only two functioning dialysis machines, making saving more lives very difficult.
This was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of KATH , Prof Otchere Addai-Menssh, on the Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9 FM in Kumasi with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin.
He stated that the two functioning machines are only used for patients with critical conditions.
He added that the two dialysis machines are at fault.
“A 1,200-bed health facility of the calibre of KATH, which is centred in the heart of Ghana, should have a minimum of 12 dialysis machines to cater for the ever-increasing kidney disease, Prof. Addai Mensah said.
“The two dialysis machines are woefully inadequate to provide dialysis assistance to hundreds of patients who patronise the facility, and an additional 12 machines will help to save more lives”, he said.
On the prevention and treatment of kidney disease, he advised the public to resort to regular health checkups to prevent any future risks.
“Most kidney diseases are reported late, some at the late stage where little could be done. To prevent this, one’s heart, liver, and kidneys must be checked at least every six months for precautionary measures to be adopted,” he advised.
He appealed for public assistance in addressing the challenges confronting the hospital. Notably, he emphasised that the hospital has not undergone significant renovations since its establishment in 1954.
He warned that if the current challenges are not addressed within the next 3 or 4 years, there is a possibility of the hospital facing closure.
Former Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, says Ghana can become a symbol of peace, progress and prosperity if the citizens work together for the common goal.
“Ghana can become and remain a symbol of peace, progress, and prosperity not only in Africa but around the world. It is possible if we work together, remain focused on the vision and work.”
In a keynote address at the Golden Jubilee and Thanksgiving Service of the Ghana Evangelical Society (GES) held at the Forecourt of the State House, Accra, former ChiefJustice Georgina Theodora Wood emphasised that Ghana has the potential to symbolise peace, progress, and prosperity if its citizens unite for a common goal.
She underscored the role of faith as a driving force in achieving milestones and emphasised that unwavering faith should not merely be a belief but a way of life.
Wood commended the Ghana Evangelical Society, led by Rev Prof. Enoch Immanuel Amanor Agbozo, for exemplifying such faith and commitment throughout the Society’s 50 years of existence.
“He tirelessly worked to draw the nation’s attention to its Christian foundation and spoke against corruption, political violence and societal evils through lectures, seminars, symposia, conferences and other equally appropriate avenues,” she said.
Wood praised the commendable leadership of Rev Prof Agbozo, noting that the Ghana Evangelical Society (GES) had, under his guidance, become a valuable asset to the nation. She emphasized the society’s role in promoting righteousness, peace, and contributing to the flourishing democracy in Ghana.
The celebration of the Golden Jubilee, according to Wood, stands as a testament to the enduring impact of a visionary leader, Rev Prof Agbozo, who, even at the age of 90, has made a lasting mark on Ghana, Africa, and beyond. She encouraged individuals to contribute their efforts toward the improvement of Ghana and the global community.
Rev Frederick B. Dadson, Assistant Leader, GES, in a sermon, said one would have expected to see righteousness, honesty, unity and truth in political, economic and sociocultural dispensation, however, “what we keep seeing are injustices, wickedness, glorification of adultery and falsehood.
“Politicians frame stories against their opponents. Corruption, greed and evil are on the ascendency. Let’s come back to God. The 50 years celebration was call for purity, faithfulness and justice in our national and individual affairs,” he said
The Ghana Evangelical Society (GES) is a non-denominational evangelistic missionary movement that envisions and strives to play a divine catalytic role in evangelism, reconciliation, redemption, and the emergence of a new Ghana.
Established in April 1973 and officially inaugurated in October 1977, GES stands out as a trailblazing non-denominational Apostolic Para-Church ministry.
It is uniquely tasked with direct and specific commissions aimed at reconciling, redeeming, and rebuilding the Church, the Nation, and its people based on truth and knowledge.
In the lead-up to the New Patriotic Party(NPP) parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies on December 2, 2023, clashes erupted between supporters of two aspirants in the Odododiodioo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
The fracas happened between supporters of Nii Lantey Bannerman and Mannaf Sowah, the two aspirants vying for the available seat.
The vetting process, which occurred at the NPP’s newly established Greater Accra Regional Office in Teshie on November 14, 2023, was intended to determine the party’s representative for the upcoming elections.
According to a Citinewsroom.com report, supporters of the aspirants engaged in confrontations at the premises.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNVJbNSFf40
Even though the exact reasons behind the clashes remain unclear, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the NPP, intervened to restore calm among the supporters.
Frimpong addressed the agitated crowd, emphasising the party’s commitment to maintaining peace throughout the candidate selection process.
He reminded the supporters of the successful and peaceful conduct of presidential primaries and urged them to avoid any disruptions during the parliamentary aspirants’ vetting.
“We don’t want any chaos here. We have been able to run presidential primaries, which were very difficult, but at the end of the day, we saw it was very peaceful… So please let us not bring any problems here. If you misbehave, I will disqualify the two of them. We want peace,” Frimpong declared.
He also warned that those who behaved disruptively could face legal consequences, stating, “Do you want a candidate or want an MP? We don’t want any fighting here. If anyone misbehaves, the person will be arrested.”
Following the intervention, the vetting process continued, culminating in a balloting session.Mannaf Sowah secured the first slot, while Nii Lantey Bannerman picked the second slot in the ballot order.
Former Greater Accra Chairman of theNational Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, has expressed concern that the party could risk losing the Odododiodio seat if the challenges surrounding the parliamentary primary in the constituency are not appropriately addressed.
The NDC has put a halt to all processes related to the parliamentary primary in the Odododiodio Constituency following a violent incident at the Greater Accra Regional Office during the vetting of aspirants.
The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC has subsequently handed over the investigation of the violence to a special committee.
During an appearance on the Face-to-Face show on Citi TV, Ade Coker emphasised the critical importance of handling the issue properly to prevent the party from losing the Odododiodio seat in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“If they don’t handle it well, we will lose that seat, and people must be up and doing because people who have gone to contest in that constituency don’t deserve to be there because that is not their constituency.
“There is a former NPP person who has been brought in, and he is contesting contrary to the party’s constitution, demanding that he should have served the party within a timeframe before contesting.
“Unfortunately, there is another person who is a former MP forAmasaman who should have gone to Amasaman to ensure that they win the seat again, yet he is contesting at Odododiodio.”
Ghana Railway Development Authority has responded to allegations of planning to demolish over 300 structures along the railway right-of-way at Roman Ridge, encompassing the Nyaho Clinic stretch and Alhaji Asuma Banda’s Mosque area.
In an official statement, the authority clarified that while it has initiated measures to reclaim encroached lands, there is no immediate intention to forcefully evict the unauthorised occupants.
The statement emphasised ongoing engagement with all stakeholders to ensure that the land reclamation process does not result in adverse consequences.
“The Ghana Railway Development Authority has over the years been confronted with significant challenges concerning encroachment and/or trespass on its lands across the country. To abate these challenges, the Authority has taken legal steps to recover these lands from unauthorised occupants.
“The Authority has pressed into service plans to eject illegal occupants along the railway right of way at Roman Ridge, including the Nyaho Clinic stretch and Alhaji Asuma Banda’s Mosque area.
In this regard, extensive engagements and consultations are underway to ensure a comprehensive approach that avoids surprises to the affected parties,” part of the statement reads.
On Asuma Banda’s Mosque, the Railway Development Authority stated categorically that there are no plans to diminish the mosque.
“Contrary to the publications, Alhaji Asuma Banda’s mosque is not earmarked for demolition. The Authority has engaged with the leadership of the mosque, assuring them that there is no plan to demolish the mosque.
Accordingly, we gave them the accrued ground rent invoice for them to make payment. We urge the public to take note of this clarification and disregard any misinformation suggesting otherwise.”
TheGhana Railway Development Authority also dismissed the claim that its Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Susan Delali Akosua Kudjoe, issued an eviction notice without the knowledge of the Chief Executive Officer, Yaw Owusu.
