Tracey’s remarks on my sexual performance was “not fine” – Ernest Opoku

Gospel singer Ernest Opoku Jr. has expressed disappointment at Tracey Boakye’s act of hailing and broadcasting his sexual prowess.

About three years ago, during the premiere of the ‘Away Bus’ movie, Tracey, during an interview with Zionfelix, disclosed that in spite of Ernest’s incessant cheating habit, he was a very romantic boyfriend and a beast in bed.

“Ernest knows how to pamper a lady. He is a romantic guy. If I’m to choose two of my exes who are good in bed, Ernest will definitely be a part. Ernest is good in bed, yes! There is no doubt. Ernest was good in it,” Tracey expressed.

However, during his first interview on this matter with Delay, it became evident that Ernest was not pleased with the public disclosure of these statements.

Maintaining a stern demeanor, Ernest expressed his disapproval of the comments made by the popular actress. He emphasized that while he had a romantic relationship with her, it was entirely inappropriate to publicly share such remarks, as they could tarnish his reputation in the ministry.

Ernest Opoku stressed the importance of protecting his integrity and admitted that he was deeply troubled when these statements about him became widely known.

“I heard she said I am good in bed and that is what she thinks. I was disturbed when she came to give out such a piece of information. Why would you say that to the public? You see, it is not fine. I am a gospel artiste and making such statements about me would bring down my integrity as a gospel singer,” he stated during an interview with Delay.

Nonetheless, he admitted that he and Tracey were once in an amorous relationship.

Ernest said the fact that he is a gospel singer doesn’t make him a saint.

“We dated for about a year. The fact that someone sings gospel songs doesn’t mean he is a saint. I am not a saint. Also, I am not a womanizer and if women want me, I don’t know. I am not worried and I am not in a hurry to be in a relationship now. I am not even dating,” he retorted.

Ernest also clarified that, contrary to rumours that he cheated on the actress, it was just some misunderstanding that led to their breakup.

“There was some misunderstanding and that created some form of anger. We are not perfect and Tracey wasn’t a difficult person to date,” he added.

  • I respected Oware Jnr’s privacy during my 8 year stay with him – Ernest Opoku

I respected Oware Jnr’s privacy during my 8 year stay with him – Ernest Opoku

Gospel musician Ernest Opoku Jnr. has shed light on his eight-year experience of residing under the same roof as fellow gospel artist Oware Junior.

This chapter in their lives began when Ernest Opoku encountered difficulties after the unfortunate passing of his father. Oware Junior kindly extended his hospitality and offered him a place to stay.

Ernest Opoku’s father’s demise in 1999 led him to contemplate various options, including pursuing a career as a shoemaker for eight years. However, his life took a different turn when he met Oware Junior, with whom he shared the following eight years of his journey.

“I went to Atwea Mountains and God revealed himself to me that He was going to use me to win souls through songs,” he said on The Delay Show on September 24, 2023, monitored by GhanaWeb.

“From there, I moved with Oware Junior. We lived in Buokrom. I served him for about eight years. I washed his clothes and accompanied him to events by holding his bag.”

“He had rented a single room and graciously allowed me to stay there. We shared the same bed,” Ernest Opoku added.

According to the singer, Oware Junior, at the time, was not married but was deeply committed to a relationship with a lady named Kukua, whom he intended to marry. He mentioned that when Kukua paid visits, he exited the room for Oware Junior and Kukua to have some privacy.

“Whenever she came to visit, I would leave and return later when they’re done with their meeting,” he said, adding that “their plans for marriage were thwarted due to issues related to her character.”

Ernest Opoku said that after spending eight years with Oware Junior, his meeting with one Yeboah Sekyere marked a turning point in his career. Through that meeting, he recorded his first single, ‘Onyame Di Hene, which was released in 2004, a song that became a hit.

Ernest Opoku now boasts of an 8-bedroom house at Kromoase in Ashanti Region, which, according to him, was built right after leaving Oware Junior’s end following the hit song he produced.

  • Pentecost would have excommunicated you if you were a member – Delay to Ernest Opoku

Pentecost would have excommunicated you if you were a member – Delay to Ernest Opoku

Assessing the scope of what she referred to as ‘sexual misconduct,’ particularly within the context of being a gospel artist, Delay asserted that if Ernest Opoku Jr. were a member of the Church of Pentecost, he might have faced excommunication.

Delving into the subject of his reported intimate encounters with various women, one after another, Delay pondered whether the gospel singer still retains the same grace and anointing he initially embarked on his career with.

“Don’t you think the grace you sing with has declined because of fornication? Don’t you think women have caused the grace you sing with to decline,” Delay queried.

In response, Ernest said he isn’t an angel and as such, what’s important is that he does not wallow in his sins.

“I am not an angel. As humans, we make mistakes, we sin but what’s important is not to remain in your sin. You ought to come out of your sin so God can use you again,” he replied.

It was then, that Delay, who seemed unconvinced about Ernest’s submission, suggested that he would have still been made to suffer the consequences of his numerous sexual escapades if he were a Church of Pentecost member.

“But if you were a Pentecost Church member, you would’ve been excommunicated by now,” Delay averred.

In response, Ernest resorted to Mathew chapter 7, where the Bible inhibits people from judging their fellow human beings.

“Don’t judge so you’ll be judged. God will judge you with the same judgment you pass on others,” he stated.

    Sampaoli not considering a resignation

Despite his team’s loss to Sao Paulo in the Brazilian Cup final on Sunday, Flamengo coach Jorge Sampaoli has stated that he is not considering a resignation.

Flamengo had to overcome a 1-0 deficit in the second leg of the Copa final but managed only a 1-1 draw. This result places the Brazilian powerhouse at risk of ending the season without any silverware for the first time in five years.

Reports in the local media suggest that Flamengo is exploring the possibility of a coaching change, with former Brazil coach Tite being considered as a potential replacement for Sampaoli.

Asked if he is considering stepping down, Sampaoli said, “‘I don’t think about it [resigning].

This assessment must be made by the club president. I know I arrived at a club in crisis that had lost four finals. We tried in these five months to change this reality. Without a doubt, what I wanted didn’t happen, but in those five months, I dedicated 24 hours a day to changing that reality … For me, Flamengo lost the Copa do Brasil unfairly.”

Chelsea owners are disappointed time to “grow up like a team” – Poch fumes after loss to Aston Villa

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino emphasised the need for his team to  “grow up like a team” following their disappointing 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Pochettino’s expensively assembled squad has struggled, failing to score in their last three matches. They currently occupy 14th place in the Premier League, with only one win in six games.

This marks their poorest start to a season since 1978.

“We need to grow up like a team, not only in an individual way,” Pochettino said.

“In this type of game, we are competing and want to win and football is about winning. But also, players, when they are young, need to learn, and experience and make mistakes.

“That’s why we feel disappointed, as there are too many situations like this.”

Pochettino said Chelsea’s owners, who have spent around £1 billion ($1.22 billion) on new players since acquiring the club last year, are “disappointed” with the results but added that “they need to support the plan.”

Borussia Dortmund prepared to allow Moukoko’s exit

Borussia Dortmund is open to the idea of selling Youssoufa Moukoko should a suitable offer arise for the young talent, as reported by Bild.

Moukoko, at 18 years old, has fallen to third place in the pecking order among strikers, with Niclas Füllkrug and Sebastien Haller ahead of him. So far this season, he has only managed 47 minutes of playing time.

This situation is far from ideal for both Moukoko, who desires more playing opportunities, and Borussia Dortmund, who had high expectations for his development when they secured his services on a long-term contract until 2026 back in January.

Before that contract extension, Moukoko had been the subject of interest from top-tier clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

If Moukoko’s playing time doesn’t see improvement in the coming months, it’s likely that links with one or more of these prestigious clubs will resurface.

  • Chelsea secretly sends off coach Bruno Saltor

Chelsea secretly sends off coach Bruno Saltor

Chelsea has reportedly decided to part ways with coach Bruno Saltor, despite previous indications that he would be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s coaching staff.

The 42-year-old Spaniard’s contract has been settled, allowing him to leave Stamford Bridge.

This decision was reached through private discussions, with no official public announcement.

Bruno joined Chelsea alongside Graham Potter in September 2022. Chelsea paid a world-record compensation package of £21 million ($26 million) to Brighton to secure the services of the new manager and his coaching staff.

Currently, only two members of that initial coaching team, head of goalkeeping Ben Roberts and data analyst Kyle Macaulay, remain at the club.

Graham Potter’s tenure at Chelsea lasted for 31 games over seven months before he departed.

During the managerial transition to club legend Frank Lampard, Bruno was put on leave, but Chelsea later stated that he had returned to his role following Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment in the summer.

However, this arrangement has come to an end in less than four months, and Bruno is now allowed to move on.

Pochettino is counting on the remaining members of his coaching staff to turn Chelsea’s fortunes around in the coming weeks.

Questions have started to arise about his own future, as Chelsea, despite heavy spending, has only secured five points from six Premier League games in the 2023–24 season and missed out on European football after a 12th-place finish last season.

Jorginho speaks after ‘painful mistake’ in Arsenal-Spurs 2-2 thriller at Emirates Stadium

Jorginho has expressed his gratitude to Arsenal fans for their support following his “painful mistake” during the recent north London derby.

Arsenal twice took the lead against their arch-rivals Tottenham at Emirates Stadium. First, Bukayo Saka’s play forced an own goal from Cristian Romero, and then Saka himself converted a penalty.

However, the game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Spurs’ Son Heung-min scored a brace, with Jorginho gifting him the second goal. After Saka’s penalty, the Italian midfielder hesitated on the ball in the midfield, allowing James Maddison to steal it and set up Son for the equaliser.

Despite his error, Jorginho appreciates the Arsenal supporters for standing by him during the match.

Jorginho has posted on Instagram about potentially costing Arsenal two precious points, with fans taking to chanting his name rather than getting on his back: “A painful mistake today, but seeing how everyone reacted after my mistake to support and lift me up—my team-mates, coaches, staff and you Arsenal fans—it gives me even more motivation to work harder and harder because all of you deserve the best version of myself.

“Thank you so much for the support of the Arsenal family.”

Osimhen likely to face Napoli fine after substitution outburst in goalless Bologna draw

Victor Osimhen is reportedly facing the possibility of a fine from Napoli due to his outburst after being substituted during the match against Bologna.

Osimhen, who played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A title victory last season, expressed his displeasure when he was taken off just four minutes before the end of a goalless draw.

Earlier in the game, he had missed a penalty that could have secured a victory for Rudi Garcia’s team.

On camera, Osimhen was seen venting his frustration towards Garcia after seeing his jersey number held up.

The 24-year-old striker believed that Napoli should have opted for two forwards while pushing for a late-winning goal.

Garcia has chosen to keep the details of their heated exchange private.

However, reports from Il Mattino suggest that Napoli’s club captain, Giovanni di Lorenzo, has been tasked with addressing Osimhen’s behaviour.

It’s also been mentioned that the African star may face a fine as a consequence of his touchline outburst.

Napoli is determined to assert that no player is exempt from adhering to the team’s discipline or from questioning the decisions made by head coach Garcia.

Osimhen will have this reinforced during a meeting with Di Lorenzo, scheduled to take place at the club’s training ground on Monday.

Pep admits overexaggerating for calling Nunes ‘one of the best players in the world’

Pep Guardiola has admitted to making an exaggerated statement when he previously referred to Matheus Nunes as “one of the best players in the world.”

This declaration came immediately after Manchester City’s impressive 5-0 victory over Sporting CP in the first leg of the round of 16 clash during the 2021/22 Champions League season.

At that time, Nunes was still playing for the Portuguese club.

However, Guardiola has now clarified his stance, acknowledging that Nunes has not yet reached the status of being among the world’s best players but still recognising him as an “exceptional player.”

Speaking to reporters, Guardiola took back his previous statement, saying, “Maybe I overexaggerated a little bit. He’s not. He is a really good player but sometimes, maybe I said this comment after 1-5, it was 5-0? But he’s an exceptional player.”

Manchester City secured Nunes’ services for £52 million from Wolves on transfer deadline day. The Portuguese midfielder made the move after just one season with Wolves.

Nunes has participated in three matches for his new club this season and recently earned his first start against Nottingham Forest, also registering one assist.

With a flawless record this season, Guardiola’s team is set to face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

FIFA bans Hearts of Oak after failure to pay ex coach

FIFA has taken punitive measures against Hearts of Oak, instituting a transfer embargo due to the club’s failure to settle an outstanding debt of $14,002 owed to their former coach, Slavko Matic.

The global soccer governing body has also directed the Ghana Football Association to enforce this decision at the national level.

The dispute originates from events in March 2023, when Serbian coach Slavko Matic was unexpectedly terminated from his position. His dismissal occurred amid a tumultuous situation, with angry fans confronting him during a training session.

In response, Matic filed a formal complaint with the Ghana Police, expressing concerns for his safety.

Given the escalating tension, Hearts of Oak expressed their inability to guarantee the coach’s security.

Following these developments, Matic escalated the matter to FIFA, which reached a verdict in July of the same year.

FIFA ruled in favour of Matic, instructing Hearts of Oak to compensate their former coach with the sum of $14,002 for the contract breach.

However, Hearts of Oak has yet to adhere to FIFA’s directive, prompting the international organisation to impose the transfer ban.

This ban, which is already in effect, prohibits the club from registering new players until they fulfil their financial obligations to Matic.

Chelsea fans jeer at players after loss to Aston Villa

Following a disheartening loss to Aston Villa on Sunday, September 24, 2023, a segment of Chelsea fans couldn’t conceal their disappointment, expressing their dissatisfaction by booing the players.

The Blues, who are currently in the midst of a three-game winless streak, endured a 1-0 defeat at home, marking their second consecutive loss on their home turf.

According to talkSPORT, audible jeers were heard following another frustrating performance at Stamford Bridge.

Despite largely dominating the match, Chelsea was unable to capitalise on their opportunities.

Center-back Axel Disasi appeared to have put the home side ahead in the first half, but his goal was disallowed for offside after receiving a cross from Raheem Sterling.

In the second half, Chelsea’s woes were compounded when Malo Gusto received a red card for a reckless tackle on Lucas Digne, reducing them to ten men.

However, despite being a player short, the home team still had several chances to take the lead, with Sterling squandering the most significant opportunity.

Aston Villa eventually seized the lead through Ollie Watkins, who scored from a challenging angle following a swift counter-attack.

This goal secured three points for Aston Villa, propelling them to sixth place in the standings, while Chelsea, after the home defeat, slipped to 14th place.

Chelsea’s struggles in front of the goal were further highlighted, as they have now gone three games without scoring.

Neymar requests removal of Al Hilal coach after altercation – Reports

Reports have emerged suggesting that Neymar dos Santos, the star player of Al Hilal, has reportedly called for the dismissal of the club’s manager, Jorge Jesus, following a disagreement between the two.

As per Spanish outlet Diario SPORT, Neymar has experienced a less than favourable start in Saudi Arabia due to clashes with his manager.

The report indicates that during Al Hilal’s Asian Champions League match against Navbahor Namangan, manager Jorge Jesus criticised Neymar’s behaviour on the field.

This critique appears to have strained their relationship.

Since his high-profile transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar has featured in three games for Al Hilal. In the mentioned match, he played the entire duration of the game, which ended in a one-all draw.

Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading goal scorer, made the move to the Saudi Arabian club for a transfer fee of €90.00 million. His contract entails an astonishing €2.9 million per week for a two-year deal valued at €300 million.

Under the terms of his contract, Neymar is set to earn €4.80 per second, €288 per minute, €17,280 per hour, €414,720 per day, €2.9 million per week, €12 million per month, €150 million per year, and a total of €300 million over the course of two seasons.

  • Akufo-Addo is the epitome of economic incompetence – Steve Hanke

Akufo-Addo is the epitome of economic incompetence – Steve Hanke

Akufo-Addo’s economic management of Ghana has been criticised by Professor Steve Hanke, an economist and professor of Applied Economics at Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

In a string of tweets, he called the president a “masterclass in economic incompetence” and offered his support for the recent #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest led by the advocacy group Democracy Hub and concerned people.

In one of his tweets, Hanke stated, “Ghanaians took to the streets against Pres. Akufo-Addo’s CORRUPT & INCOMPETENT gov’t, as the money supply explodes and Ghana remains in an inflationary doom loop.”

In another tweet, he reinforced his position, saying, “The #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests in Ghana are rolling right along. Ghanaians have completely blocked off the 37 Roundabout, also known as the Akuafo Intersection, in Accra. PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO = A MASTERCLASS IN ECONOMIC INCOMPETENCE.”

On the concluding day of the three-day #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, demonstrators made an attempt to breach a police barricade well into the night and march toward the presidential residence.

This effort persisted despite the unlawful detentions and heavy-handed tactics employed by the police on Day 1, during which they apprehended 49 protesters, detaining them for an extended period on charges of unlawful assembly. All of them were subsequently released on bail.

Days 2 and 3 unfolded without any significant incidents as the police had cordoned off the main road leading to the presidential residence, Jubilee House, even before the protesters initiated their march towards the location.

While Day 2 witnessed the closure of one section of the 37-Accra road, the final day saw both sides blocked, resulting in substantial vehicular traffic disruptions for the majority of the day.

Angry protestor invokes God’s wrath on Akufo-Addo during #OccupyJulorbiHouse demo

A female participant in the recently concluded #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest organized by Democracy Hub and concerned citizens, Naseebah, did not mince her words when criticizing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, branding him as the “most ineffective president to date.”

During an emotionally charged interview with JoyNews, Naseebah voiced her deep-seated frustration with the state of affairs in Ghana, with a particular focus on the hardships faced by the country’s youth and the ailing healthcare system.

Naseebah’s anger resonated through her words as she painted a stark picture of the dire circumstances confronting many Ghanaians. She recounted the heart-wrenching story of a dedicated teacher who had devoted more than three decades of his life to public service, only to tragically lose his son due to an inability to cover the GH¢400 weekly cost of dialysis treatment.

In addition to this, she leveled allegations at the government, accusing it of misappropriating funds on frivolous expenses while pressing issues continued to plague the nation. Naseebah raised pertinent questions about the government’s priorities, particularly in light of the heavy tax burden on citizens and the ever-rising cost of living.

“I am very angry, I am angrier this morning, people are dying each day, and the dialysis machine in Korle Bu got spoilt, do you know the number of people who died? A 24-year-old boy died this morning; the father is a teacher and over thirty years of his life in the service could not afford dialysis of GH¢400 a week. What do you mean? Do you know how much taxes they charge us every day, the cost of living in this country but you bring flowers to celebrate your daughter’s birthday, you bring a cake to celebrate E-Levy.”

On the final day of the three-day #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstrations, protesters made an attempt to breach a police barricade late into the night with the aim of marching towards the presidential residence.

This move came despite the unlawful detentions and heavy-handedness displayed by the police on Day 1, during which they arrested 49 protesters, who were subsequently held for hours on charges of unlawful assembly. Eventually, all of them were released on bail.

Days 2 and 3 transpired with minimal incidents as the police maintained a barricade on the main road leading to the presidential residence, Jubilee House, even before the protesters commenced their march towards the location.

While Day 2 involved the blockage of one section of the 37-Accra Road, the final day saw both sides blocked, significantly impeding vehicular traffic for a considerable portion of the day.

  • Ghanaian youth are being stupid—Mr Logic

Ghanaian youth are being stupid—Mr Logic

Several Ghanaians, on September 21, 2023 joined the #OccupyJulorbiHouse which was organised by the civil society group, Democracy hub, to express their dissatisfaction with the government’s performance on various issues such as high cost of living, corruption, and press freedom.

Although many have supported the actions of these protesters, others, such as entertainment critic Mr Logic, believe Ghanaian youth are being stupid for allowing themselves to be driven by people’s personal agendas.

    https://twitter.com/i/status/1705845464493428952

Expressing his opinion on the controversies surrounding the protest, however, and acknowledging the right of every Ghanaian to protests, the chairman of Ghana Song Writers Association stated that,

“As much as you have a constitutional right to protest, its not right for you to always be found on the streets protesting.

“Do not allow yourself to be dragged by people’s personal interests and agendas.

People are allowing themselves to be fooled by people’s agendas,” he said while speaking on UTV’s United ShowBiz on Saturday , September 23, 2023.

On his part, the police acted right by preventing the protest from taking place on the first day, as the service’s core mandate is to “protect and serve”.

Hence once it perceives an impending danger or disturbing occurrence, the service has every right to restore calm and maintain order, exactly what they did during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse.

“Then we later point fingers at the police for no reason. What is the core mandate of the police? It is to protect and serve,

“So if you hit the street to protest and the police perceive danger or a disturbance, those who must be held will be held; one’s who will be pushed will be pushed, just as others will be forced to sit.”

“And what is the crime in doing that? First of all, if we didn’t want anyone to protest, nobody would have been allowed anywhere near the jubilee house.

“There’s no way any of them could have gone anywhere close to the Jubilee; as we speak, this is the third year of their protest.

Likening the #OccupyJulorbiHouse to the riots of 1948, where three ex-servicemen marched to Christiansburg Castle in a protest to demand their unpaid war benefits after their fight in World War II.

They were stopped by the colonial police, who shot and killed three of them.

This incident triggered widespread riots and protests in Accra and other parts of the country.

Hence, Mr Logic advised the youth to be circumspect in their dealings and engagement in such protests, as many believe that the only way they can register their displeasure is by protesting.

“Sometimes the youth believe that protest is the way.  If you haven’t lived in a violent community, you might think it is a pleasant experience”, he said.

Franklin Cudjoe accuses EC of using “Machiavellian approach” for refusal to expand voter registration venue

The founder and president of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has voiced strong criticism against the Electoral Commission (EC) for its refusal to expand the venues for the ongoing voter registration process.

During an interview on Citi TV’s political talk show, The Big Issue, Cudjoe accused the EC of employing a “Machiavellian approach” in its actions, which he argued was disenfranchising a significant portion of the Ghanaian population.

Cudjoe also expressed disapproval of the EC’s decision to revise the expected number of registrants. He questioned the rationale behind such a move and urged the EC to permit registration at multiple centres for the convenience of the public.

He further advised the EC to adopt a more practical approach, commending Joseph Whittal, the head of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), for opposing the EC’s position.

However, Cudjoe criticised the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) for not speaking out against the EC’s actions and stance.

“I haven’t seen that of the NCCE. The NCCE has shut its mouth and eyes to all the things that are happening in the EC,” he pointed out.

A portion of the public has expressed dissatisfaction with the Electoral Commission’s decision to restrict voter registration centres to district offices, which are frequently inconveniently situated for numerous eligible voters.

Various civil society organisations and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have urged the EC to broaden the registration process to more accessible sites.

Despite these calls, the EC has stood firm in its position and continued to conduct registration exclusively at its district offices.

Cecilia Dapaah case: Special Prosecutor should be supported other than being told to quit – Domelevo

Former Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, has voiced his dissent against those advocating for the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, to halt his anti-corruption endeavours amidst criticism from government officials.

In his perspective, it is improper for individuals to propose that the Special Prosecutor should abandon his mission to investigate the embezzlement case and assets related to the former Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

Domelevo clarified that it is a constitutional obligation for the government to address corrupt activities and instances of office misuse, as stipulated in the state policies outlined in the constitution.

“So he comes in to play a role to ensure that even if we can’t eradicate as required by the constitution, at least reduce it to the barest minimum.

“So if he [Special Prosecutor] has difficulties and they say he should just stop it, what happens if a different person comes and he also has difficulties then we leave it like that, no,” he said on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday.

Mr Domelevo stressed that it is essential to support the Office of the Special Prosecutor in his mission to fight against corruption and corruption-related activities because he is not just fighting it for himself but also making financial savings for the country.

“So we should rather be resolved in helping him to be successful,” he said.

Commenting on the practice of journalists obtaining court documents and publishing them with regard to Madam Dapaah’s case, the former Auditor General expressed his preference for completing investigations before disclosing extensive details.

He explained that in audits, initial findings might seem severe, but as investigations progress, issues can be mitigated or resolved.

Mr Domelevo suggested that the law should differentiate between information accessible during an investigation and after charges have been filed.

He expressed his belief that when the prosecution of Madam Dapaah begins, “the charges against her can be dismissed by the court depending on the defenses that she would raise.”

Ghana Police Service apologise for disruptions caused during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest

The Ghana Police Service has issued an apology to the public for any inconvenience caused during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, particularly to commuters who were obstructed by the protesters’ roadblock on Saturday.

“The police would also like to apologise to members of the public who were inconvenienced in one way or another, especially those who were caught up in the vehicular holdups during the demonstration,” the police said in a statement issued on September 23.

The demonstrators had blocked the road after the Ghana Police Service set up barriers along the route leading to the Jubilee House in an attempt to prevent them from advancing and emphasising their demands.

The demonstrators had blocked the road after the Ghana Police Service set up barriers along the route leading to the Jubilee House in an attempt to prevent them from advancing and emphasising their demands.

Despite the police presence, the protesters chose not to disperse. Instead, they waited and sat on the streets, intending to identify an alternative route. This led to significant traffic congestion on the road.

In an unexpected twist, a police officer, recognizing the traffic gridlock caused by the protest, took a seat in the middle of the road and appealed to the demonstrators to clear a path for the flow of traffic.

However, the protesters remained steadfast and declined to comply, insisting that it wouldn’t be feasible.

The demonstration eventually concluded, and the roads were reopened to facilitate smooth vehicular traffic movement.

The police also expressed their intention to arrange a debriefing meeting with the organisers, aiming to promote more productive engagement in the future.

“We have a track record of providing security for demonstrations in the past and would continue to do so within the confines of the law.

“We, therefore, urge the general public to continue to partner with us, as we work towards deepening our democratic credentials and maintaining peace and security in our beloved country,” said the police.

  • Why take so long to publish alleged $1m bribery audio? – Barker-Vormawor’s integrity in refute

Why take so long to publish alleged $1m bribery audio? – Barker-Vormawor’s integrity in refute

Sustainability, Climate, and Social Innovation Advisor Enam Akoetey has strongly criticised Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the convener of the FixTheCountry movement, for his recent decision to reveal an alleged bribery attempt to hinder his activism.

Barker-Vormawor has accepted the Ministry of National Security’s challenge to provide evidence supporting his claim that he was offered a $1 million bribe in 2021 by a government minister.

The lawyer and activist asserted that he possesses evidence to substantiate his allegations and intends to make it public after the ongoing #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.

During an interview on JoyNews’ Newsfile program on Saturday, September 23, Enam Akoetey expressed her disbelief at why Barker-Vormawor, who advocates for improved leadership and integrity, withheld the supposed audio for nearly two years before deciding to disclose it.

She stated that, in her opinion, she would have released such audio on the very day the alleged conversation regarding inducements took place, as she values transparency and integrity.

“There are a lot of claims going out and I am saying that are they all about integrity. If you are saying that a lot of people called you to say that don’t publish something, the question is if you are a person that is value-driven, would you listen to them or say –I hear what you are asking me to do but it is the wrong thing so I am going to defy you and publish?”

“So why would it take him two to three years for him to publish this audio?” she queried.

This follows taking up the challenge from the National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah to produce evidence of the alleged attempt by government to induce him with an amount of $1 million so they cease his “activism”.

Speaking on the same news analysis programme on Saturday, the FixTheCountry’s Convener clarified that the meeting he [Oliver Barker-Vormawor] made reference to was an exclusive secret meeting between him and the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah even before the first FixTheCountry protest in 2021.

“The Minister of National Security has issued a statement claiming that I was met with other FixTheCountry conveners and other stakeholders. I want to put it on record that the meeting I am talking about happened exclusively between myself and the Minister for National Security where that offer was made to me.

“I will release an audio into the public domain, which would confirm that the Minister invited me to a secret safe house location, that we should have an individual meeting between him and myself, at which meeting he made that offer to myself. No other FixThecountry convener was involved there,” he revealed.

Man Utd striker Marcus Rashford meets accident after Burnley match

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford was involved in a car accident shortly after his team’s game against Burnley on Saturday, September 23.

The incident occurred as Rashford was leaving Manchester United’s Carrington training base in his Rolls-Royce, valued at £700,000.

Earlier, Rashford and his teammates had returned to Carrington from their match at Turf Moor with a team coach.

Footage from the scene showed Rashford’s car with significant damage, and a nearby traffic island’s traffic pole had been knocked over.

Fortunately, Rashford reportedly suffered no serious injuries, but he was understandably shaken, according to a source cited by The Sun.

Police officers responded to the scene at Carrington Spur, but no arrests were made and no ambulances were required.

Notably, Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s captain, was present at the time of the accident and stopped to offer assistance.

It’s worth mentioning that Rashford played a crucial role in Manchester United’s victory over Burnley, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal of the match.

  • It’s time to take Current Assets Declaration Law serious, it is a joke – Domelovo on Cecilia Dapaah’s case

It’s time to take Current Assets Declaration Law serious, it is a joke – Domelovo on Cecilia Dapaah’s case

Former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelovo has raised doubts about the efficiency of Ghana’s current Assets Declaration Law.

During an interview on JoyNews’ Newsfile program on Saturday, he expressed his opinion that the existing law is ineffective and lacks suitability for its intended purpose.

He further emphasised the necessity for enhancements to the Assets Declaration Bill that is currently under consideration in Parliament.

“We have to take seriously the Assets and Liabilities declarations by office holders in the country. You and I agree that the law as it stands at the moment is a joke,” he told Samson Lardy Anyenini.

He explained that if the law were effective, it would have helped hasten investigations into the alleged “stolen money case” of the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

“If the declaration was properly done and verified, I think some of the claims date as far back as 2003 or 2005—that was when she was in the previous NPP administration—so we could have gone there to see whether those things were declared, properly verified and existed, and it would have helped the investigation and also been published.”

Mr. Domelevo’s remarks follow the recent court documents filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which have revealed that a bank account belonging to the deceased brother of a former Sanitation Minister has been actively transferring funds to the former Minister.

Exclusive copies of these documents, obtained by JoyNews and submitted to the court by the OSP, also suggest that the former Minister holds millions of cedis, the origins of which the OSP alleges she could not substantiate.

This development represents the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s ongoing efforts to ascertain the seizure of properties suspected to be ill-gotten by Madam Dapaah.

In response to this situation, the former Auditor General cautioned against hasty judgements that might lead to contempt of court. He additionally called for the implementation of a lifestyle audit.

This, according to him, will serve as a preemptive measure to check and hold public officers accountable “when we think their lifestyle is not in sync with their resources.”

He added that it can help limit the extent to which public holders can abuse public funds.

Age is just a number as Akraba Nana joins primary six at 47, father’s 7 other students

Akraba Nana, a 47-year-old individual who is currently in sixth grade, shared his inspiring journey of returning to school after a prolonged period of dropping out.

He explained that he became a father to seven other students, which served as a motivating factor for his decision to resume his education.

In an exclusive interview with Asaase Radio, the 47-year-old recounted his life story.

He revealed that when he was just 14 years old, he was forced to leave school and discontinue his education during his third-grade year due to the unfortunate passing of his parents.

“I was in class three when I lost both parents; then my future ambitions crashed, and I had to leave school,” he said.

According to Akraba Nana, affectionately called Schoolboy, after the demise of his parents, he was forced to move from one place to another in search of greener pastures and finally decided to settle in Akraba, a suburb of Cape Coast in the Central Region.

While in Akraba, he quickly established himself as a head porter at the Kotokoraba Market.

Through it all, Akraba Nana said he took solace in music and realised he has a notch for making music and wanted to make the most of his newly discovered talent.

Unfortunately for him, his inability to read and write made it impossible for him to script his song lyrics. Even more frustrating for him was the inability of paid writers to write his songs without ambiguity.

“All those who wrote my songs for me did not write it exactly the way I wanted to bring out the lyrics,” Akraba said.

It was this challenge—the inability to write his songs—that forced him to go back to school, Akraba revealed.

“The motivation to write my songs forced me to go back to school. After consultation with my wife, I decided to go back to school to be able to read and write.”

Akraba commutes close to a kilometre each day to St. Paul Catholic School. He does that every morning in the company of his seven kids; four of them are his seniors, and two are his classmates.

Unlike other students who were admitted to Nursery One on the first day, Akraba had a waiver to begin his school journey in class three.

“The headmistress was admitting nursery students, as at the time I was also seeking admission. Per the school rules, the window was opened for nursery students, but the headmistress allowed me to start in class three,” he recalled.

#OccupyJulorbiHouse: May we not miss the target, the clout chasers are in town – Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has observed that the significant turnout at the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest can be divided into two clear categories.

He explained that the first group consists of individuals who genuinely have concerns and are passionately advocating for a transformation in the way the nation is governed. In contrast, the second group comprises those who attended the event primarily to seek attention.

On the third day of the protest, Sarkodie shared his perspective, citing certain videos from the event as the basis for his observation.

His tweet read: “I watch videos and I see clearly the ‘real’ protesters complaining about the hardship they are facing (which should be amplified) and not caring who is there and who is not because it goes beyond that…”

“And as always, we have the “Clout Chasers” changing the agenda on the grounds of the unnecessary trend. Big shouts to all citizens and all public figures with the purest intent to fight for change. May we not miss the target.”

Sarkodie extended his commentary to President Akufo-Addo in a subsequent tweet, reminding him of the underlying motivations driving the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests that shook the capital, Accra, from September 21 to 23.

According to the artist, who is currently in the US, suffocating hardships were at the heart of the mass action. He observed that the tone-deaf nature of the government was evident that appointees were clearly not in tune with the realities of the ordinary Ghanaian.

“Main reason for this demonstration is to let you know the people (citizens) are suffocating in hardship! It’s easy to overlook since most government officials are nowhere close to the situation on the ground! It’s a bully when you starve someone and still ask them to follow ‘Rules’ it’s only a matter of time,” his tweet read.

    The #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest

The #OccupyJulorbiHouse movement has gained significant momentum for legitimate reasons, continuously dominating the top trending topics for three consecutive days. Under the guidance of Democracy Hub, protesters have taken to the streets to voice their concerns about economic hardships and corruption.

On Day 1, which took place on September 21, during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests organised by Democracy Hub, the police unlawfully detained hundreds of protesters who were marching to demand action regarding the ongoing economic crisis and issues of corruption.

These arrests, along with the manner in which they were carried out by the police, received strong criticism for infringing on the constitutional right to protest and for the use of excessive force.

The detainees were transported to the regional headquarters and then dispersed among approximately eight police stations scattered across the capital.

During this process, other journalists and protesters who had gathered, particularly at the Accra Regional Command, encountered instances of police aggression, including pushing, unwarranted detention, confiscation of phones, and, in some cases, physical assault.

Days 2 and 3 of the protests proceeded without any major incidents, as the police set up barricades on the main road leading to the presidency, Jubilee House, even before the protesters commenced their march towards the location.

On Day 2, one part of the 37-Accra Road was blocked, while the final day witnessed the closure of both sides, resulting in significant traffic disruptions throughout the day.

Both Day 2 and Day 3 also saw the participation of some celebrities in the protest.

We celebrated Messi, even with a guard of honour – PSG boss rebuffs Messi’s claim

Al-Khelaifi has refuted such claims that Messi’s achievements were not congratulated upon his return, stating how it was always going to be tricky given Argentina had just beaten France so narrowly in the final.

“As everyone saw, because we even published a video, we celebrated Messi in training, and we also celebrated him in private,” he recently told RMC Sport. “But with respect, we are a French club. It was, of course, sensitive to celebrate at the stadium. We must respect the country he defeated, his teammates on the France team, and our supporters too.”

Given the warm reception he received upon his summer transfer to the United States, it’s improbable that the global superstar will be significantly troubled by this matter.

While Messi did receive a guard of honour upon his return to training, the Inter Miami forward appears to harbour some dissatisfaction. As a result, he concluded his two-year tenure with the club and made the move to MLS this summer.

Whether Messi chooses to address the statements made by PSG President Al-Khelaifi remains to be seen.

Given the warm reception he received upon his summer transfer to the United States, it’s improbable that the global superstar will be significantly troubled by this matter.

Dembele drowing in Paris already? Arsenal, Spurs allegedly tracking PSG’s newbie

Reports indicate that both Arsenal and Tottenham are closely monitoring the situation surrounding Ousmane Dembele, the PSG winger.

Dembele, formerly of Barcelona, made a £50 million ($61 million) move to PSG earlier this year, transitioning from La Liga to Ligue 1.

According to information from The Mirror, the two north London clubs, as well as West Ham, are keeping a close watch on his evolving circumstances.

The report suggests that a potential loan move might be a feasible option for the 26-year-old player.

Dembele has struggled to find his form with the current French champions and has yet to score a goal for Luis Enrique’s team.

Consequently, there is substantial speculation about a temporary transfer to the Premier League in January.

Meanwhile, PSG is set to return to domestic action later on Sunday following their successful 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund in their opening UEFA Champions League match of the season.

They will be hosting Marseille at the Parc des Princes and have the opportunity to climb as high as third place in the league standings with a victory.

  • Bruno Fernandes ends Man Utd losing run after sinking Burnley with a goal

Bruno Fernandes ends Man Utd losing run after sinking Burnley with a goal

Bruno Fernandes’ stunning volley gave Manchester United a much-needed victory as they edged past winless Burnley in the Premier League.

United were in desperate search for inspiration following three straight defeats and received it on 45 minutes courtesy of captain Fernandes, who brilliantly volleyed home a first-time finish from Jonny Evans’ lofted pass.

The sublime strike was worthy of winning any game and gave United their third win from six league games this season, leaving Vincent Kompany’s side bottom of the table with only a point so far.

Burnley played some delightful football in periods and Zeki Amdouni gave the visitors a scare with a free header that was pushed away by Andre Onana at full stretch.

The Burnley frontman had an even better chance when he was played through by Aaron Ramsey, but a low shot cannoned off the foot of the post.

Evans thought he had given United the lead when he headed in a corner, but the effort was ruled out by the video assistant referee (VAR) for Rasmus Hojlund’s block on goalkeeper James Trafford.

Burnley went hunting for an equaliser in the second period and Sander Berge narrowly headed over as United held on for victory.

Manchester United had endured a troubling run, conceding three or more goals in consecutive losses to Arsenal, Brighton, and Bayern Munich. It was crucial for them to secure a positive result to revitalise their struggling season.

The game began with Marcus Rashford’s attempt into the side net just 45 seconds in, suggesting a revitalised side.

However, the overall performance from the Red Devils was mostly lacklustre and sluggish.

Burnley gradually gained momentum after Rashford’s early chance, and they will be left wondering about the result if Amdouni had capitalized on his opportunities in the first half.

Goalkeeper Onana, who had been under scrutiny, made a fantastic save to deny a header from the Swiss striker, who also hit the woodwork following an impressive team move.

The hosts were playing attractive football but were undone by a moment of brilliance from Portuguese midfielder Fernandes just before half-time. The captain, who had previously tested Trafford, eluded his marker and connected with Evans’ precise pass, sending an unstoppable volley into the bottom corner.

Fernandes came close to scoring an even more spectacular second goal in injury time, but Trafford managed to keep his hooked effort out.

Defender Evans, who returned to the club during the summer, made his first start for United since March 2015 and managed to head in a goal, but it was disallowed by VAR.

Notably, Burnley’s plight reminded fans of Evans’ time at Leicester, where they finished in the relegation zone last season.

Burnley, on the other hand, aims to avoid a similar fate, having lost all four of their home games this season and only secured their first victory in the ninth match of the 2021-22 campaign, which ultimately ended in relegation to the Championship.

  • ‘I am angry’ – Pep Guardiola fumes after Rodri’s saw red during Man City -Forest clash

‘I am angry’ – Pep Guardiola fumes after Rodri’s saw red during Man City -Forest clash

Man City managed to secure a 2-0 victory while playing with only 10 players in the second half, maintaining their flawless record in the Premier League.

However, Guardiola believed that the referee, Taylor, had lost control of the game even before Rodri received a red card.

The incident leading to Rodri’s dismissal for violent conduct occurred at the beginning of the second half when he grabbed Morgan Gibbs-White by the throat. This action will result in a three-match suspension, causing him to miss the crucial match against title rivals Arsenal on October 8th.

In addition to Rodri’s dismissal, Taylor handed out yellow cards to 10 other players, with seven of them coming from Forest. Notably, Guardiola himself received a yellow card during the match.

“The game was incredibly perfect for 35 minutes for both sides but after that, when it became chaos, it was not our responsibility, that is for sure,” Guardiola said.

“With all the yellow cards, the responsibility is not Nottingham Forest or City’s, that’s for sure. The referee has changed the game, absolutely.”

Guardiola mentioned that Rodri had extended his apologies to his fellow teammates for his red card. This suspension will also force him to sit out upcoming league matches, including those against Wolves on September 30th and Brighton at home on October 21st.

Guardiola drew parallels between this incident and Kyle Walker’s red card during a Champions League match against RB Leipzig in the 2021–22 season.

“Hopefully Rodri will learn,” Guardiola added. “He had to control himself and his emotions. I can get a yellow card, but Rodri can’t. I don’t play—the guys who do have to be careful.

“Kyle has done this in the past – they know they shouldn’t do it – but it is emotions. Whatever happens, you have to control yourself. I am angry, because I don’t like playing with 10 men.

“I said to the players at half-time to be careful because of what had happened in the last 10 minutes [of the first half] but we fell into the trap.”

Ancelotti confirms Vinicius availability for highly anticipated Madrid derby

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that forward Vinícius Júnior is fully fit and ready for the team’s upcoming LaLiga derby against Atletico Madrid on Sunday. Ancelotti assured that there is “zero risk” in including the Brazilian international in the match.

Vinícius had been sidelined since August 28 due to a hamstring injury he sustained during Madrid’s 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo.

Initially, it was expected that he would be out for six weeks, causing him to miss eight matches, including the highly anticipated derby.

However, Ancelotti revealed on Saturday that the player’s recovery had progressed faster than anticipated.

“The injury is forgotten,” Ancelotti said in his pre-match news conference on Saturday. “He’ll be in the squad. Tomorrow we’ll see what role he plays in the game.”

The Italian coach said that right-back Dani Carvajal would be absent as he “isn’t 100%,” while Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos are both available for selection.

“The risk is zero,” Ancelotti said when asked if he was taking a chance by bringing Vinícius back early. “If we think there’s a 1% risk tomorrow, we won’t take it. The important thing is that Vinicius has recovered.

He lacks a bit of conditioning but that’s normal.”

Real Madrid enters the upcoming match leading the La Liga table, having secured five wins in as many games. The team’s top scorer, Jude Bellingham, has already netted six goals in six appearances across all competitions.

Despite Bellingham missing training on Friday due to a stomach issue, Carlo Ancelotti has assured that there are no concerns about his availability for the match.

“It was a small thing,” Ancelotti said. “He felt ill but he’s recovered.”

“Every team has injuries,” coach Diego Simeone said. “I heard [Pep] Guardiola saying it yesterday; even the best team in the world suffers from it. With so many games, the coaches have to deal with these situations.

“Madrid and Barcelona always have great players but even so, we’ve been able to compete. We have to think about us and keep looking for the ways we’ve competed over the last 11 years.”

  • Erik ten Hag clueless about Man Utd’s defense woes following terrible season start

Erik ten Hag clueless about Man Utd’s defense woes following terrible season start

Erik ten Hag has openly admitted his lack of understanding regarding the reasons behind Manchester United’s extensive goal concession during their unstable beginning to the season.

In the previous Premier League season, United boasted the highest number of clean sheets among all teams. However, in the current season, they have allowed 14 goals in six matches across all competitions.

Their defensive struggles continued as Bayern Munich netted four goals on Wednesday, following two consecutive 3-1 losses to Arsenal and Brighton.

“We have shown that we can do it because last year we had the most clean sheets in the Premier League because we defended very good as a team so we have to get back to those standards,” Ten Hag told a news conference on Friday.

“I am pushing the team and demanding from the team at the start of the season, but they are human beings, not robots so why they are not doing it, I try to find out and I try to get and give the solutions and I try to motivate the players to do the job.”

Erik ten Hag has overseen a disappointing start to his second season as Manchester United manager.

When asked whether he knew the reasons behind this season’s poor defensive record, Ten Hag said “no” but insists it is not because of a lack of “spirit” among the players.

“When you are in a period like we are in, you always, as a manager you are asking yourself these questions,” he said.

“My job is to get them to do the job. You can see if we bounced back like we did in Munich; you can’t say the spirit isn’t right. I think we have other problems than that.”

United have managed to secure just one clean sheet this season, which occurred during a 1-0 victory over Wolves on the opening weekend. In contrast, they have allowed at least two goals in each of their other five matches.

Erik ten Hag, who has been seeking his first win in almost a month, is now directing his attention towards addressing the team’s vulnerable defense as they prepare to face Burnley on Saturday at Turf Moor.

“As a manager you have many tools and I make sure I use them,” he added.

“I will not say all because there are many ways to do it. You have to be creative you have to be innovative, but you can be sure I use many. You do it in groups, in teams, individually, you do it over video, you do it in personal talks. You have many tools to coach to make sure the team is in the right direction.”

Why give power to someone who cannot fill his own forms well? -Dreams FC manager jabs George Afriyie

Administrative Manager of Dreams FC, Ameenu Shardow, has taken a swipe at George Afriyie, claiming he has no business leading the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for failing to properly fill out his form.

Mr Afriyie, who is a former Vice President of the country’s football governing body, was disqualified on the grounds of having an ineligible stakeholder endorse his application form for the 2023 GFA Elections.

However, the Susubiribi Sporting Club owner appealed his disqualification but the Appeals Committee of the GFA threw out George Afriyie’s appeal.

The disqualification means incumbent Kurt Okraku will be going unopposed ahead of the election slated for October 5 in Tamale.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Sports Panorama, Ameenu, who was surprisingly named as the team manager of the Black Stars, believes George Afriyie is not the right candidate to lead the Football Association.

According to him, Mr Afriyie’s failure to fill out his forms well indicates that he is not fit enough to steer the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as president.

“Someone who is purporting to become the Ghana Football Association president, the highest position and the person is not able to fill out a form and we should give our football to this person?” he said.

Meanwhile, George Afriyie has confirmed that he is heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to appeal his disqualification.

  •  McKennie needs to convince Juve for a contract extension

McKennie needs to convince Juve for a contract extension

The possibility of a contract extension for U.S. men’s national team midfielder Weston McKennie at Juventus largely depends on his upcoming performances, as reported by Calciomercato.

McKennie, who is 25 years old, hasn’t consistently been a starter at the Allianz Stadium and spent last season on loan at Leeds United, where he made 19 Premier League appearances as the club unfortunately faced relegation. Initially, it was anticipated that the former FC Dallas and Schalke 04 midfielders would once again leave Juventus during the summer transfer window, but no such move materialised.

Instead, McKennie has been part of Juventus’ starting lineup in all four of their opening games this season. He began the most recent two matches and even provided an assist in their 3-1 victory over Lazio.

McKennie’s existing contract is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2025. As Juventus has not yet committed to extending his stay beyond that period, he is now focused on impressing manager Massimiliano Allegri to secure another contract.

Earlier this month, McKennie acknowledged that transitioning back to Juventus from Leeds was challenging, but he is determined to demonstrate his value to the team.

“Coming back to Juventus wasn’t easy,” he said during USMNT camp. “I left the club at a time of crisis, I guess you could say. And so coming back, I felt like I started back at square zero, but that is a challenge I’m always up for, a challenge that I think I needed at this time in my career to kind of prove to people that I still have it.”

With Paul Pogba’s future uncertain after doping charges, there is now an opportunity for McKennie to establish himself in Allegri’s lineup, which the American is currently taking.

Juventus’ next match—and McKennie’s next opportunity to impress—comes against Sassuolo on Saturday, with the club having lost three of their four Serie A matches this season.

The Chelsea manager disclosed that he had a conversation with the underperforming forward and encouraged him to maintain composure on the field and in front of the goal.

Pochettino also cited the example of Vinicius Jr at Real Madrid, highlighting that it took him at least two seasons to adapt and excel with Los Blancos. This comparison is intended to motivate the budding striker

Speaking to reporters on Jackson’s poor run of form, Pochettino said, “I had a meeting today (Friday) with Nicolas and Enzo (Fernandez). I said, ‘Come on, a striker with four yellow cards for protesting?’ You need to get yellow cards but in different actions, not for that. Not so easy, so cheap. It’s going to put him in a very difficult situation with the team.

“He understood. But Jackson is 22; he’s young. He needs to learn, needs to improve, and needs to settle. He’s going to be a fantastic player. But he needs time. I like to make similarities with players at other clubs. Jackson is a fantastic player but he needs to be calm and relaxed in front of goal. I said, Remember Vinicius; he took three seasons, or two and a half seasons, to perform at Real.”

He added, “We’re talking about young players. You can blame us; blame me. We can talk about tactics. But they need time. There’s no doubt we have amazing talent on the team, but now they need time to settle. But he needs to be clever not to protest to the referees in this way. Maybe it’s his normal behaviour on the pitch; it’s something maybe he can improve on. Maybe this season they change the rules; he came from Spain, where it’s different the relationship with the referees.”

Following his £32 million transfer from Villarreal to Chelsea this summer, Jackson has found the back of the net only once in five Premier League matches. His lone goal this season was against recently promoted Luton Town last month.

It is anticipated that the 22-year-old will be in the starting lineup for Chelsea on Sunday when they face Aston Villa in the Premier League.

  • It is illegal to force GNPC to seek $431 million loan without parliamentary approval – Minority tells president

It is illegal to force GNPC to seek $431 million loan without parliamentary approval – Minority tells president

The Minority in Parliament has raised accusations against the Presidency, alleging that it exerted pressure on the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to secure a $431 million loan agreement from Lukoil International Trading and Supply Company (LITASCO) SA, a Swiss company involved in refinery and retail operations across Europe.

The Minority contends that this action by the Presidency is not only unconstitutional and unlawful but also a clear violation of Parliament’s directive and resolution.

Based on a memo obtained by the Minority, it appears that the Presidency convened a meeting on September 14, 2023, at 11 a.m.

During this meeting, the GNPC was directed to seek board approval to raise the specified amount without the need for parliamentary approval.

However, it’s worth noting that certain members of the GNPC board expressed their reservations about this directive.

The attendees at this meeting included the Chief of Staff, the Executive Secretary to the President, the Minister of Finance, the Deputy Minister of Energy, the CEOs of Karpower and LITASCO, as well as other executives from these companies.

    Don’t commit illegality

Speaking to the press in Parliament on Wednesday (Sept 20), the Ranking Member on the Mines and Energy Committee, John Jinapor, called on the Chief Executive of the GNPC and the board to decline the directive from the Presidency.

“If you proceed with this directive, you will be committing an illegality. You do not have that mandate or that power to enter into such an agreement without parliamentary approval.

“The Minority wishes to serve notice that we shall use every necessary tool available to ensure that we do what is right and legal,” Mr Jinapor warned.

    Parliament’s directive

Just before Parliament adjourned in August of this year, the Committee on Mines and Energy, led by Chairman Samuel Atta Akyea, presented a report on the GNPC’s 2023 work programme.

One of the significant matters discussed was the GNPC’s request to secure a $620 million loan facility from LITASCO SA.

Parliament made a decision during this session, opting not to approve the specified amount as part of the GNPC’s work program.

Instead, Parliament clearly instructed the corporation to provide the terms and conditions of the proposed loan, following the guidelines outlined in Article 181 of the Constitution. This information is necessary for the House to review and make a final determination regarding the loan request.

“To utmost shock, we have come across a document indicating that the Presidency is using coercive force and the power of the Presidency to compel the GNPC to proceed and execute this loan agreement without parliamentary approval,” he said.
He pointed out that some of the board members kicked against such illegality.

    Collaterizing TEN Field oil

The MP added that another document that was also intercepted at the board level of the GNPC had what he described as the deed of indebtedness, the JOHL Crude Oil Supply and Purchase Agreement, the Jubilee Oil Holding Limited (JOHL) prepayment facility agreement, the guarantees facility agreement and the crude oil supply and purchase agreement.

“The key has to do with the fact that GNPC is raising this facility from LITASCO LUKOIL and in return, they are giving our oil out to this company for the next five and a half years.

“Indeed, all the oil in the TEN Oil Field have been incorporated, including royalties and our carried and participating interests will be escrowed into this company

More importantly, Mr Jinapor explained that every year, a minimum of 3.8 million barrels of crude oil would be given to LITASCO for the loan being raised.

“No one even knows exactly what they want to use this money for apart from some repayment of debt.

“This is a government that received over $1.4 billion of oil receipts in 2022, the highest ever, and despite receiving this huge oil revenue from our oil sales, you want to take $431 million today and mortgage our future for the next five-and-a-half years and escrow the whole of TEN field oil,” he added.

Ghana’s public debt climbs to GH¢575.5 billion

Ghana’s public debt has surged to GH¢575.5 billion as of June 2023, which accounts for 71.9 percent of the national gross domestic debt.

This marks a marginal increase of GH¢6.3 billion compared to the GH¢569.2 billion in public debt recorded in April 2023.

According to the September 2023 Bank of Ghana Summary of Economic and Financial Data, Ghana’s public debt has seen a total rise of GH¢27.7 billion since January 2023. Of this debt, GH¢328.6 billion (equivalent to US$29.9 billion) is attributed to external debt, while GH¢246.9 billion ($30.8 billion) is from domestic sources.

Notably, the figures reveal a GH¢7.3 billion increase in external debt compared to April 2023, when it stood at GH¢321.3 billion. In contrast, domestic debt has decreased slightly from GH¢247.9 billion to GH¢246.9 billion over the same period.

However, the nominal GDP has remained stable at GH¢800.9 billion as of June 2023, maintaining the level reported in January 2023.

This represents a significant increase from the GH¢610.2 billion reported in June 2022.

  • ‘Onana has been a bit harsh on himself’ – Jonny Evans defends Andre Onana after UCL blunder

‘Onana has been a bit harsh on himself’ – Jonny Evans defends Andre Onana after UCL blunder

Jonny Evans has expressed his confidence in Andre Onana’s potential to thrive at Manchester United, even in the face of a challenging beginning at the club.

Onana, at 27 years old, made the move from Ajax to Old Trafford during the summer in a transfer valued at £47.2 million, reuniting with his former manager, Erik ten Hag.

Nevertheless, Onana has encountered a challenging start while wearing the red jersey, managing just one clean sheet in his initial six appearances for the team.

Evans, who returned to United during the summer on a free transfer, has offered his support and believes that Onana will ultimately excel at the club, despite the initial difficulties.

“It’s a big thing for him to do that,” Evans said to TNT Sports. “He didn’t have to do that. But I think it’s very difficult for any player coming to a new club to hit the ground running and maybe he’s been a bit harsh on himself.”

“I’ve seen that quite a lot. And I’ve experienced that myself. He’s replacing David de Gea, who was here for a long time.”

“Again, remember, David, at the start of his career at Manchester United, maybe went through a bit of a tough time to settle in and we saw what sort of career he would go on to have for this club.”

In his most recent appearance for United, Onana took the field at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Unfortunately, it was a match in which the Cameroonian international allowed four goals, including a shot from Leroy Sane for the opening goal, a save he typically expects to make.

It’s an evening he will probably want to put behind him as he continues his journey with the club.

The goalkeeper will have another opportunity to showcase his abilities this weekend as the Red Devils make the short 35-mile journey to take on Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side.

  • Barcelona keeping taps on Girona

    Barcelona keeping taps on Girona

Barcelona is closely monitoring the performance of Girona winger Savio, who has made an impressive start to the La Liga season. This information comes from reports by Mundo Deportivo and Gol.

Savio, a 19-year-old Brazilian talent, has already contributed significantly by scoring one goal and providing two assists.

His stellar performances have propelled Girona to win four of their initial five games, with the remaining match ending in a draw.

Girona currently holds the third position in the LaLiga standings, sharing points with Barcelona and trailing the early leaders, Real Madrid, by just two points.

Savio was brought to Girona on a season-long loan from the French club Troyes during the summer transfer window. It’s worth noting that both Girona and Troyes have affiliations with the City Football Group.

Savio’s journey includes a breakthrough in his home country with Atlético Mineiro before joining Troyes in 2022.

Last season, he gained experience on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he featured for both the first team and the reserve squad.

Barcelona’s financial woes prompts uncertainty about De Jong’s contract renewal

Barcelona is currently facing financial pressures, and a top priority for the club is securing a new contract for midfielder Frenkie De Jong, as reported by Sport.

De Jong, who is 26 years old and has a contract expiring in 2026, has been a vital component of manager Xavi Hernández’s team this season.

He has started in all five of Barcelona’s La Liga matches as well as in the Champions League.

To comply with financial fair play regulations, Barcelona is preparing to propose another reduction in De Jong’s salary.

This move is similar to the recent contract renegotiation with goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

As previously reported by ESPN, the 31-year-old goalkeeper agreed to a contract extension until 2028, which deferred a significant portion of his wages to create salary space for this season.

However, reaching an agreement with De Jong is proving to be a challenging task, primarily due to strained relations between the club, the player, and his representatives.

Despite having a new agent, there seems to be lingering resentment stemming from the pressure De Jong faced to join Manchester United last summer, a move that went against his desire to remain at Camp Nou.

West Ham names Kudus Man of The Match in game against Backa Topola

In the 2023/24 Europa League clash at the London Stadium on Thursday, September 21, West Ham United’s Kudus Mohammed shone brightly, earning himself the Man of the Match accolade.

The Ghanaian international, who made a £38 million move from Ajax, was granted his inaugural start and made a significant impact.

Just four minutes after his involvement in forcing the equalising goal, Kudus found the net for the second goal.

Throughout the entire match, he displayed a stellar five-star performance that drew admiration from both his teammates and manager David Moyes, who praised his exceptional individual contributions on the field.

Following his exceptional display for the Hammers, head coach David Moyes said, “Kudus started the game really well but faded like the team did but he came up with important goals. I couldn’t see where the goals were coming from up to that point”.

An elated Kudus said, “We knew what we were doing so if we were down or up, we knew how to play. The result came after. I’m here to help the team. I just did my best for the team and hopefully we get the three points.

“They have made me feel like family already. The most important thing is the team. We focus on that and we will build on it.

In the current 2023–24 English Premiership, Kudus has appeared in two games for West Ham United, starting each game as a substitute in the second half.

  • Thomas Partey to miss Arsenal-Tottenham clash

Thomas Partey to miss Arsenal-Tottenham clash

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey will be absent from Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Partey has been sidelined due to an injury that occurred during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Fulham in the Premier League on August 25, 2023.

The 30-year-old has been diagnosed with a groin injury, and there is currently no specific timeline for his return to action.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta, speaking ahead of the Sunday fixture at the Emirates Stadium against Tottenham, confirmed that Partey has not yet fully recovered and will miss the game.

He told the press ahead of the game at the Emirates: “We are still assessing him (Gabriel Martinelli), so let’s see if he can make the game or not. Thomas [Partey] for sure is out and the rest are hopefully available.”

Tottenham haven’t won at the Emirates since 2010 in the league but the Lilywhites have had a bright start to the campaign, sitting second in the league table with the same points as Arsenal, who sustained a league challenge last season.

Thomas Partey was a headline-grabbing player in the game last season, scoring a splendid goal that set Arsenal on the path to victory.

Unlike the previous season, where his absence cost the Gunners, the arrival of English midfielder Declan Rice has eased the burden.

Rice’s impressive life at Arsenal has been marked by incredible displays that have excited the crowd at the Emirates Stadium.

It is expected that Partey will be fit for Arsenal’s next Premier League match.

Julian Nagelsmann has ‘something special’ for Germany as he replaces Flick as Germany manager

Following Hansi Flick’s departure, Julian Nagelsmann has been appointed as the new manager for the German national team ahead of Euro 2024.

Nagelsmann, the former Bayern Munich boss, has officially signed a contract that extends until the conclusion of July 2024.

Additionally, he will have Sandro Wagner and Benjamin Glück as his assistants for the national team.

“We have a European Championship in our own country. That’s something special—something that happens every few decades. I subordinate everything to the fact of having a great tournament in a great country,” he told the DFB. “I have a great desire to take on this challenge.

The appearance at Dortmund was the beginning. We will be a close-knit group next year.”

DFB sports director Rudi Voller holds a strong belief that Nagelsmann is the ideal candidate for the role in preparation for next summer’s tournament in Germany.

“Julian Nagelsmann was our preferred candidate as national coach when the search began. He is not only an absolute football expert but has already proven in all his positions—at a very young age for a head coach—that he can motivate and inspire a team and the entire environment,” he said.

“His fire for football is noticeable and contagious—just like with his two assistant coaches, Benjamin Glück and Sandro Wagner, whose great energy I was recently able to experience myself.

Julian Nagelsmann, with his qualities and his personality, will play a crucial role in ensuring that we will all experience a great European Championship in our own country in the summer.”

Hansi Flick’s tenure as Germany boss came to an end when he became the first person to be dismissed from the position following a 4-1 defeat by Japan. This setback followed a disappointing World Cup campaign in which Germany suffered early elimination from the group stages for the second consecutive time.

Unfortunately, results didn’t show improvement post-tournament, with Flick managing just 12 wins out of 25 matches. The appointment of Julian Nagelsmann is now seen as a fresh start and a hopeful catalyst for a turnaround, aiming to inspire the Euro 2024 hosts to victory next summer.

At the age of 36, Julian Nagelsmann becomes the second-youngest coach to lead the German national team. Only Otto Nerz was younger, debuting at the age of 34 years and 10 days as the first German coach in 1926.

Nagelsmann and the German squad are gearing up for their upcoming journey to the United States in October, where they will engage in friendly matches against the Stars and Stripes and Mexico.

Check out the impressive debut goal from Mohammed Kudus at West Ham

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, Mohammed Kudus achieved a significant milestone by netting his inaugural goal for West Ham United during their Europa League Group A opener against the Serbian team, Backa Topola.

The Ghanaian international capitalised on a well-placed corner from James Ward-Prowse, using a precise header that found the bottom corner of the net.

This marked his first goal since joining the English Premier League side during the summer transfer window and propelled West Ham into a 2-1 lead.

Kudus also played a pivotal role in West Ham’s opening goal, which served as the equaliser, as his pressure on Nemanja Petrovic led to his own goal.

Backa Topola had initially taken the lead in the 45th minute courtesy of Petar Stanic’s strike.

However, Tomas Soucek, coming off the bench, sealed the victory for the Hammers with their third goal, ensuring a triumphant start to their Europa League campaign.

Player discontent grows in Man Utd after Ten Hag’s alleged favouritism

Growing discontent is reportedly brewing among several Man Utd players in response to Erik ten Hag’s post-match criticisms amid the team’s recent string of poor results.

United has now suffered three consecutive losses, marking the first such streak since Ten Hag assumed the managerial role.

According to the Manchester Evening News, a division is emerging within the dressing room, with some players beginning to suspect that Ten Hag shows favouritism towards certain individuals by refraining from criticising them.

This starkly contrasts with his frequent admonishments to other players.

Furthermore, the report suggests that some players feel they have been unfairly burdened with executing Ten Hag’s tactical instructions and adapting to unfamiliar roles, a situation that arose following Antony’s removal from the squad due to allegations of domestic abuse.

In a recent example, Ten Hag publicly chastised the entire team for affording too much space to Leroy Sane, who scored Bayern Munich’s opening goal in their 4-3 defeat.

This criticism came despite goalkeeper Onana’s glaring mistake, a player who had previously worked under Ten Hag at Ajax.

The Red Devils now face a crucial away match against struggling Burnley as they desperately seek their first away win of the season to rejuvenate their dismal campaign.

Kudus! another West Ham weapon – Ex-West Ham star Joe Cole commends player

Former West Ham star Joe Cole has showered praise on Mohammed Kudus for his exceptional performance in the club’s recent 3-1 Europa League triumph against TSC Backa Topola.

Kudus, who made his first start since his £38 million summer move from Ajax, played a crucial role in West Ham’s remarkable comeback win.

His determined effort at the back post directly contributed to the equalising goal, and he later found the net with a header from a James Ward-Prowse corner at the London Stadium.

Cole has expressed his belief in Kudus as a valuable addition to David Moyes’ squad, underscoring the team’s heightened goal-scoring potential.

“He [Kudus] looked like he was happy and settled,” Cole said on TNT Sports.

“He is another weapon for David Moyes

“I look at this team, and I see goals everywhere. It was a great night for West Ham.”

Following his impressive brace on Thursday, Kudus has now notched up an impressive total of five goals in his last two European matches.

Before making the switch to West Ham, the talented midfielder had already showcased his prowess in European competitions while playing for Ajax. In a notable display, he scored a remarkable hat-trick in the Europa League qualifiers against Ludogorets Razgrad.

During his time at Ajax, Kudus left a lasting mark in European competitions, finding the net nine times in just 18 appearances.

As West Ham gears up to take on Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday, it’s highly likely that Kudus will be vying for a spot in the starting lineup in the Premier League clash.

Odegaard becomes Arsenal’s highest-paid player after new 5-year contract

Arsenal’s captain, Martin Odegaard, has officially extended his stay with the club, committing to a fresh five-year contract that binds him to Arsenal until 2028.

This significant renewal comes as his previous agreement, valued at £120,000 per week, was set to conclude in 2025.

With his signature on the new deal, Odegaard, the Danish international, is set to take on the prestigious title of the club’s top earner.

The 24-year-old has appeared in 92 Premier League games for the Gunners thus far since arriving at the club from Real Madrid in 2021 for €35 million plus add-ons.

He has 25 Premier League goals to his name and 14 assists.

Speaking to Arsenal.com after signing the new deal, Odegaard said, “Signing a new contract was a really easy decision for me for lots of reasons.

Mainly what we are doing right now as a club is special, and I want to be a part of that. I’m really excited for what’s to come here. I’ve found a place where I can be really settled and call home.

“My story is a bit different, maybe, as I moved around different clubs since I was 16. At Arsenal, since the first day, I’ve felt great and this is definitely my home now. I just want to say thanks to everyone working at the club and, of course, our fantastic supporters. I will continue to give everything to bring success to this club in the years to come.”

The midfielder will be next seen in action on Sunday when Arsenal face rival Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.

Disqualification of the goal was unjust – Retired Referee on denied Hearts goal against Kotoko

A retired referee from the Ghana Football Association, Thomas Nunoo, has weighed in on the controversial incident that occurred during the first-week game of the BetPawa Premier League between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Lions.

In this incident, a goal was disallowed for offside, and Nunoo has expressed his belief that the referee’s decision was biased.

Nunoo pointed out that offside rulings in football are based on player positions, and upon reviewing the match replays, he contends that the goalscorer’s position did not justify being called offside; instead, it should have been considered onside.

He emphasised that the referee’s decision should be substantiated not only through words but also through technical analysis.

“An offside position refers to a player who is closer to the opponent’s goal line than the ball itself; it is not enough to say that a player is in an offside position and therefore is to be penalised,” he said.

    Referee Thomas Nunoo

During a phone interview with Maltiti Sayida Saddick on GTV’s Breakfast Show on September 19, 2023, he expressed that if he had been in the role of the centre referee, he would have allowed the goal.

He went on to describe the goal as far from the controversy it had generated, instead characterising it as a legitimate and well-executed goal.

Nunoo also took the opportunity to urge all referees and football administrators to make concerted efforts to eliminate such minor errors during football matches, as they can detract from the beauty and appeal of the game.

He called for vigilant officiating and observation of the Ghanaian League by officials and administrators to preserve the sanity of the football game.

“Everybody must look sharp,” he added.

João Félix has admitted that he struggled to acclimatise to Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone’s tactics despite his sensational beginning with Barcelona.

Félix, aged 23, has already netted three goals in his initial two starts for Barcelona since his recent loan move from Atletico earlier this month.

The Portuguese forward initially joined Atletico from Benfica for a substantial €126 million ($134 million) fee in 2019, but during his four seasons under coach Simeone, he failed to fully meet the high expectations set for him.

“When things are going badly in football for someone, you have to make a change,” Félix said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo on Thursday.

“I did it before going to Chelsea [on loan in the second half of last season] and now coming to Barcelona because it was not going well [at Atletico].

“I didn’t adapt to the club’s or the coach’s ideas, but I always tried to do the best I could. I have had good times there as well.”

The legal representatives of the protestors have expressed their intention to secure bail for their clients through legal procedures scheduled for Friday.

After extensive discussions with officers at the Accra regional police headquarters, both parties have reached an agreement to address the matter in court on Friday, September 22.
