  • Cedi appreciates by over 42% as of June 2025, reversing almost 2 years loss – BoG

Cedi appreciates by over 42% as of June 2025, reversing almost 2 years loss – BoG

The Cedi has made a strong comeback, gaining more than 42% against the US dollar as of June 2025. This sharp rise signals a major turnaround for the economy after almost two years of steady decline.

Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Johnson Asiama, highlighted this during the Graphic Business/Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting held on Tuesday, 15th July, at the Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme: “Sustaining Forex Gains: Business and Economic Impact.”

Delivering his keynote address, the Governor stated, “the Ghanaian Cedi has appreciated by over 42% year-to-date as of June 2025, reversing nearly all the losses incurred in 2022 and 2023,” stressing that the rising cedi must go beyond numbers and lead to real change.

The Governor further noted that Ghana’s gross international reserves now stand at US$11.1 billion, representing 4.8 months of import cover up from US$8.98 billion at the end of 2024.

He added that the country recorded a trade surplus of US$4.14 billion in the first four months of 2025, driven by export growth of over 60%, mainly from gold, cocoa, and oil.

According to him, the current account surplus also saw significant improvement, reaching US$2.12 billion in Q1 2025, compared to just US$66 million during the same period in 2024.

Dr. Asiama noted that remittance inflows remain resilient, and Ghana’s IMF-supported programme has successfully passed all reviews. These achievements, he said, have contributed to a sovereign credit rating upgrade by S&P Global Ratings from Selective Default to CCC+.

He emphasized that these outcomes “represent more than just statistical improvement. They are a restoration of macroeconomic credibility, the kind that markets, investors, and citizens respond to with
    confidence.”

The Governor credited the cedi’s appreciation to deliberate and disciplined economic policies crafted in lockstep between the central bank and the Ministry of Finance.

“At the Bank of Ghana, we maintained a firm disinflation stance—raising and holding the monetary policy rate at 28%, conducting active Open Market Operations (OMO) to absorb excess liquidity, and enforcing discipline in the foreign exchange market through structured FX auctions and forward guidance,” Mr Asiamah expressed.

  • Unregistered mining equipment to be confiscated after August 1 – Interior Ministry

Unregistered mining equipment to be confiscated after August 1 – Interior Ministry

The government has rolled out an official order requiring all machinery used in mining operations to be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by 1st August.

A statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior on Tuesday, July 15, states that the state will go ahead to confiscate unregistered mining equipments after the deadline.

“The Government, as part of efforts to reform the mining sector in the country, All Machinery Used in Mining Activities Must be Registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by 1st August 2025. Equipment that remains unregistered after this deadline will be confiscated by the State,” the Ministry stated on its website.

Mr Mubarak has empowered the Ghana Police Service and DVLA to begin strict enforcement of the new rule from August 2.

“The Ghana Police Service and DVLA have been directed to enforce this directive from 2nd August 2025 onward rigorously. The general public, especially those who use mining machinery, are advised to take note and comply with the directive,” he wrote.

The Ministry reiterates its resolve to maintain national peace through effective internal security and law enforcement.

Meanwhile, a similar directive came in two months ago where excavator owners and operators were asked to register their machines with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) within two weeks or risk losing them to the state, as the government intensifies efforts to clamp down on illegal mining activities.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, issued the directive in Accra, warning that effective June 1, any excavator not registered with the DVLA will be confiscated.

Speaking at a press briefing, Mr. Kotey announced that the Ghana Police Service and the DVLA’s operational team commenced a nationwide enforcement after the deadline, arresting and impounding excavators being used at mining sites or for commercial purposes without proper documentation.

“This exercise will help identify every excavator that enters the country and trace how it is being used. The goal is to ensure we can monitor and hold people accountable,” Mr. Kotey said.

The directive fell in line with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (Act 683), which mandates the registration of all motor vehicles and trailers, including farm and heavy-duty equipment.

Despite the law, the DVLA found many unregistered excavators operating in mining areas, some of which have been used in illegal activities.

Mr. Kotey emphasized that the DVLA, with its 34 offices nationwide, could register all excavators and farm machinery within two weeks and was ready to strictly enforce the directive.

“Excavators in the hands of illegal miners have worsened the destruction of our environment. This is why we must act,” Mr Kotey said.

To further control the situation, the DVLA, in collaboration with key agencies like the Minerals Commission, National Security, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), commenced tagging all newly imported excavators.

In addition to tagging new imports, the Minerals Commission was tasked to lead a team that would tag all excavators already in the country.

Legal small-scale mining sites have also been geo-fenced, with their site coordinates integrated into the Ghana Mine Repository and Tracking software for better oversight.

The move is part of broader government efforts to combat illegal mining.

Three months ago, Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah announced the rollout of a system to monitor excavator imports and usage, involving port tagging and digital tracking in partnership with several state agencies.

According to the sector minister. The third most valuable item imported into this country is excavators, and it is worth GHC6.2 billion.

However joint Military-Forestry Commission task force that conducted targeted operations in high-risk districts across the Ashanti, Western, and Western North Regions led to the seizure of 100 excavators, three bulldozers, and four vehicles.

  • Cee of Mentor opens up about failed marriage with a man of God

Cee of Mentor opens up about failed marriage with a man of God

Cynthia Appiah-Kubi of Mentor II fame, known in showbiz as Cee, has opened up about her status as a divorcee after several years.

She has emphasized that her decision was not influenced by instructions from God as some gospel musicians claim.

Cee said she left her marriage because she could not endure it anymore.

“I was married to a pastor, but I left because of certain issues and circumstances that I could not stand. He is aware of those issues. God did not tell me to leave my husband; I left because I could no longer take certain things,” she said.

The mentor star revealed that, she had always resisted proposals to marry a man of God.

Unfortunatley, she ended up with one and it did not last forever.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian playwright, author, and motivational speaker, Uncle Ebo Whyte, has advised bachelors and bachelorettes not to allow themselves to be forced into marriage to satisfy societal, family, or peer pressure, emphasizing that marriage is not a requirement in life.

“Marriage is not given to everybody. Not everybody needs to marry. Not everybody will marry. Marriage is not a magic wand. It may not deliver half of what you expect.

So if you do choose to marry, do so because you’ve found someone with whom you genuinely want to build a life, not because society says you must,” he noted.

Taking to his social media (Instagram) yesterday, the playwright in a video boldly challenged the longstanding norm, which asserts the need for everyone to marry, citing evolution and the growth surrounding the purpose of marriage.

“There was a time when everybody needed to marry. That time has changed. There was a time when there was a purpose of marriage. That time has changed. There was a time when we needed to marry. That time has changed. It’s not now,” he said.

He affirmed his stance, drawing biblical references to the teachings of Apostle Paul, which admonished that “He who marries does well. He who does not marry does even better.”

In Ghanaian society and beyond, procreation is often emphasised to ‘pressure’ people into marriage, but Uncle Ebo Whyte argues that population control, coupled with family planning, has shifted that cultural expectation.

“Because now we are saying there are too many people. Let’s control the population, citing his 42-year-old marriage as companionship as well. Then there’s the issue of companionship. I’ve been married for 42 years. Companionship,” he said.

He also warned against entirely romanticising marriage, saying that it’s a commitment that requires “hard work, patience, humility, and respect,” not just love.

Uncle Ebo reminded his audience that people can live happy lives without being married and that marital status does not define one’s values.

“You are complete with or without marriage. Some of the most fulfilled people I know never married, and that’s perfectly okay,” he said.

  • Men who speak Fante easily win the heart of ladies – Quamina MP reveals

Men who speak Fante easily win the heart of ladies – Quamina MP reveals

Musician Emmanuel Kwamina Amonoo, popularly known as Quamina MP has revealed that men who speak the Fante dialect do not struggle to win the heart of ladies.

“It’s true that speaking the Fante language makes a lot of girls admire you and probably fall in love with you.” he said.

Adding that “when the ladies hear you speak Fante, it sounds nice to them, and they want to even follow you home. Most ladies want to date a guy who will make them laugh or smile, and we, the Fante guys, are known for that,” he revealed in an interview on Property FM.

The Mankessim-born singer further explained that Fante-speaking men are naturally funny, and ladies are easily drawn to them as they get to laugh and smile all the time being in their company.

Meanwhile, Veteran actor and comedian Akrobeto has advised women struggling to find love on his TV segment titled Real News.

He urged women not to succumb to societal pressures or fears of aging by desperately seeking a partner.

Akrobeto emphasized that desperation often leads to accepting irresponsible partners, advising women to avoid setting overly high standards that could deter potentially suitable matches.

Drawing from personal experience, he recounted being rejected in his youth for lacking financial qualifications, highlighting the importance of personal growth and self-improvement.

Akrobeto encouraged women to focus on developing themselves, suggesting that a well-rounded life and self-assurance are attractive qualities that naturally draw others towards them.

“I can tell you on authority that no responsible man will come your way. Because when things get worse, he will tell you to your face it. And that he didn’t like you, but you forced a marriage on him. So my desperate sister, calm down. There are many young ladies between the ages of 25-30 who are rejecting men because they are looking for certain specifications to accept their proposal. And then they get desperate when they are ageing,” he said.

Akrobeto further recounted his experience with a lady who rejected his proposal because he was bankrupt.

“This lady told me that if I don’t have a bank account and savings, how was I going to take care of her after marriage. Today, I have plenty of savings. But that is not to say that you need to accept the proposal of just any man who comes your way. Not all, you need to be careful with your selection so as not to end up with any irresponsible man. However, you don’t need to raise the bar very high to send many men away,” he said.

  • George Quaye applauds Andrew Tandoh as national treasure in theatre

George Quaye applauds Andrew Tandoh as national treasure in theatre

Playwright and entertainment industry personality, George Quaye, has lauded actor and theatre director, Andrew Tandoh Adote, for what he describes as his exceptional acting talent.

During a time of engagement on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie, the Team Lead at ImageBureau said, Andrews’ dedication and craft deserve nothing less than a grand style recognition.

“He is beyond a national asset and needs to be really celebrated in a grand style. I have worked with several talents but I can confidently tell you that working with Andrew gives you a beautiful night’s sleep because you know he will take it seriously, you know he will push hard, you know he will deliver,” George Quaye said.

Andrew Tandoh Adote has made a name for himself in Ghana’s theatre industry, especially through his performances with Roverman productions, headed by Uncle Ebo Whyte.

His versatility on stage over the years has earned him lead roles in popular stage plays such as Women on Fire, Forbidden, and The Comeback.

He has contributed to both mainstream and alternative storytelling by appearing in films and on television through Ghana’s creative arts space.

Andrew Tandoh is widely known for his amazing work as a voice-over artist.

George Quaye, is advocating for his recognition because he has worked closely with Andrew on several productions.

Mr Quaye highlighted his work ethic, professionalism and ability to embody roles with authenticity as key reasons he believes the actor deserves national and international recognition.

Former Chairman of the Classification Committee of the National Film Authority (NFA) Socrate Safo, also touted Andrew recently as one of the best actors in the world.

He is loved by many for his unmatched acting prowess – interpreting various roles to perfection.

He has also shed light on why theatre in Ghana struggles with low patronage, attributing it to a historical perception of theatre as a free commodity.

Speaking on Hitz FM, Quaye highlighted that many Ghanaians have grown accustomed to consuming theatre without paying, a mindset rooted in the past when theatre productions were often offered at no cost.

Quaye emphasised the need to elevate this mindset, urging stakeholders to collaborate rather than compete.“I’ve been asked many times why I share many people’s plays even when I’m running my plays. Why? Because we cannot compete. We need to collaborate.

“We cannot compete because we haven’t gotten to where the musicians have gotten to. Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy can compete. Sarkodie and Samini can compete. King Promise and KiDi, Kuami Eugene, they can all compete. They can because, globally, they have gotten recognition,” he said.He drew parallels with the music industry’s global recognition, pointing out that while musicians like Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy can command high ticket prices, theatre productions struggle to achieve the same level of patronage.

To foster growth, Quaye advocated for a collective effort to change people’s perceptions about theatre’s value, stressing that it’s an art form deserving of financial support and recognition.

  • I don’t support NDC but am willing to help my colleagues in leadership positions – Socrate Safo

I don’t support NDC but am willing to help my colleagues in leadership positions – Socrate Safo

Ghanaian filmmaker Socrato Sarfo has expressed a willingness to support creatives in leadership positions despite his affiliation with the New Patriotic Party.

“I am happy for the creatives in the NDC. Let’s support them. I support them. I called Rex Omar and asked why he didn’t invite me to the launch of the Blackstar Experience. Because I want to help in any way, with ideas,” he said in an interview with arts and culture journalist Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z.

Mr Safo disclosed that he has already gone ahead to engage the Executive Director of the National Film Authority, Kafui Danku, to assure her of his readiness to offer any support.

Responding to the question of whether he intends to join the NDC, Mr Safo confidently declared, “I am NPP.”

Socrato Sarfo is a former Chairman of the Classification Committee of the National Film Authority (NFA).

He applauded Kafui Danku-Pitcher when she was made the new Executive Secretary of the Authority.

He also lauded her for sustaining the classification of films, a task he described as essential to preserving industry standards.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Safo highlighted the efforts of his team during his time in office.

“We classified over 300 movies and took deliberate steps to educate filmmakers on the importance of classification,” he stated.

He further expressed confidence in Danku-Pitcher’s leadership, noting her commitment to the same cause. “I am proud of the new Executive Secretary, Kafui Danku-Pitcher, for continuing this important mandate. It is crucial for ensuring quality content in the industry.”

His comments came shortly after the NFA, under Danku-Pitcher’s administration, issued a press release reminding industry players of the legal requirement under the Development and Classification of Film Act, 2016 (Act 935).

“A person shall not exhibit or cause to be exhibited a film unless the film has been passed and classified by the NFA,” the statement emphasized.

The Authority clarified that this directive applies to all forms of audio-visual content, including “feature films, short films, trailers, TV series, documentaries, advertisements, music videos,” whether shown in cinemas, on television, streaming platforms, or public spaces.

Additionally, the NFA announced that beginning May 1, 2025, only producers, distributors, or exhibitors with valid licences issued by the NFA will be permitted to submit content for classification.

The Film Classification Committee, formed under Act 935, is responsible for previewing and classifying all content meant for public exhibition in Ghana.

  • Come at me directly; don’t accuse me wrongly – Mustapha Gbande to Minority

Come at me directly; don’t accuse me wrongly – Mustapha Gbande to Minority

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Mustapha Gbande, has lashed out against critics within the New Patriotic Party, urging them to confront him directly rather than hiding behind unfounded allegations.

Mr Gbande was on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show to debunk claims by the Minority Caucus in Parliament, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, that he and NDC Deputy National Communications Officer Malik Basintale incited chaos during the July 11 polls at Ablekuma.

He said, “I am not a coward. Even if my name appears on their list, I am not afraid of anyone in the NPP. If you want to come after me, do so directly. But don’t accuse me of something I haven’t done.”

The NDC Deputy General Secretary further chided the NPP for the hasty release of a statement that was not backed by fact.

“Administratively, you don’t rush to release statements without proper information. I showed the Minority Leader evidence that he was misled, but he still insisted on his claims,” Gbande stated.

He has also addressed a move by the NPP, circulating posters of NDC members with inscriptions reading “wanted, alive or dead.”

He warned the minority that they would be held responsible if anything happens to the boys whose posters are in circulation.

“If anything happens to any of our boys, we will hold the NPP responsible. Their party headquarters is not a police station,” he warned.

The Electoral Commission (EC) held an election in 19 polling stations of the Ablekuma North to provide its constituents with a representative after the 2024 parliamentary elections.

However, voting in two polling stations, the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station and St. Peters polling station in the constituency, was suspended and later continued following chaos.

At the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station in the Ablekuma North constituency, some individuals engaged in a fisticuff with the police personnel. Also, a JoyNews journalist was slapped by an unknown individual.

Former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and Member of Parliament for Ewutu Senya East Constituency, Hawa Koomson, was also assaulted by a group of men during the election.

In a video gone viral, a man lunged at Hawa Koomson, pushing her to the ground. Another person was seen kicking her.

The Police officers present intervened and prevented further attack against Hawa Koomson.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has interdicted one of its officers who was caught on camera slapping a journalist with GH One Television, Banahene Agyekum, during the rerun election at Ablekuma North.

In line with internal disciplinary procedures, he has been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation.

The officer concerned has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duty at Ablekuma North.

The Police have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter and further updates will be communicated.

It is unknown what exactly transpired between the reporter and a group of police officers that led to him being slapped.

The Police officer’s action has been condemned by all, including the mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, who witnessed the unfortunate incident.

Engaging the media after the assault, Banahene Agyekum expressed distress and pain.

“Yes, (I won’t be able to continue work today) because my right eye is shaking and I don’t know what happened to my forehead. I have to go for a medical checkup,” he stated.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is holding an election in 19 polling stations of the Ablekuma North to provide its constituents a representative after the 2024 parliamentary elections.

After the 2024 polls, Ablekuma North remained the only constituency in Ghana without a sitting MP, due to unresolved disagreements over the outcome of the parliamentary vote.

On December 10, 2024, three days after the national polls, the EC declared Ewurabena Aubynn of the NDC the winner of the Ablekuma North parliamentary seat, defeating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Akua Owusu Afriyieh.

However, the EC later revoked the announcement, revealing that results from 62 of the 281 polling stations had not been included in the initial collation.

Efforts to restart the collation in January 2025 were disrupted by multiple challenges.

These included interruptions due to the submission of unverified pink sheets and a violent intrusion at the collation centre that heightened security concerns.

The Electoral Commission (EC), after extensive deliberations, in July noted that it will hold the rerun election because the 19 scanned polling station results used for the collation, though approved by agents of both political parties, were not verified by the presiding officers responsible for those polling stations.

The EC arrived at this decision after it met with the representatives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday, July 1.

Ahead of today’s election, the EC called on the Ghana Police Service to provide the needed security to ensure a safe environment for the conduct of the election.

CODEO demand urgent action after security breach in Ablekuma North elections

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), is calling for swift and decisive measures following serious security breaches that marred the Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun held on Friday, July 11, 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, July 14, and signed by the coordinator of its secretariat, Joseph Oti Frimpong, CODEO condemned teh vilence, intimidation and infiltewration of unauthorized individuals into polling centres.

It described the situation as a threat to electoral integrity and national security.

CODEO has therefore urged President John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to launch an investigation into the conduct of police officers stationed at the gate during the attacks.

“CODEO calls on President John Mahama and the Police Council under Article 202 (2) of the Constitution, to exercise its powers of Control and Direction of the Inspector General of Police to institute an inquiry into the recent actions of police officers in the handling of police duties involving political actors. This must be done urgently to ensure clear remedial actions are taken ahead of the bye-election in Akwatia,” the statement read.

Expose students wielding weapons in schools – GES urges students

All Ghanaian students, especially those in senior high schools, have been charged with the responsibility of exposing students who they find possessing weapons in schools.

During the launch of the “Sav Schools Outreach Programme” at O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra, Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Munawaru Issahaque, said this will foster learning environments devoid of violence among students.

“You are the voices that can shift attitudes, challenge the status quo, and inspire action. When you advocate for safer schools, you are sending a powerful message that every life matters, that violence has no place in our future,” he said.

The initiative is led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Ghana in partnership with the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCSALW).

The UNDP Ghana’s Head of Inclusive Growth and Accountable Governance, Dr Edward Ampratwum, proposed a collaborative effort involving various sectors of society to tackle violence.

He stressed the need for rapid reforms in firearm legislation and greater backing for the Commission’s work.

Months ago, a 16-year-old form two student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) was arrested by the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command for illegally possessing a locally manufactured firearm.

The police arrested the suspect following a routine dormitory search by school authorities on Wednesday, May 14.

According to the accused, the weapon belonged to his stepfather, Mr. Daniel Owusu Baafi, who has been apprehended.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, on Sunday, May 18.

Following their arrest, both individuals were granted bail and are to report to the police on Monday, May 19, as investigations continue. The illegal possession of guns has become a common trend in Ghana.

Experts have called for stricter punishments for culprits.

Speaking to The Independent Ghana, the Deputy Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPME) at the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA), Gyebi Asante, highlighted the urgent need to review existing laws governing firearms possession to better align with current security challenges.

“We are advocating for the law to be reviewed to suit the current situation and also be able to align with our current dispensation. It is something we have taken steps to do,” he said.

  • Fear of dismissal limits IGP’s independence – Nana Romeo

Fear of dismissal limits IGP’s independence – Nana Romeo

Ghanaian entertainment pundit, Nana Romeo, has asserted that the independence of the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over the years has been marred by politics.

Due to this assertion, Nana Romeo believes that IGP’s do not execute their roles as they should over fear of being sacked.

Joining a discussion on United Showbiz on July 13, 2025, the media personality said,

“I would suggest that the position of the IGP should not be a political appointment. If a government appoints an IGP, he is limited in taking actions in fear of being sacked by the sitting government.”

Nana Romeo’s concerns come in reaction to the election violence that ensued at the just-ended Ablekuma North election rerun on July 11, 2025.

The process was marred by escalated tensions with reports of voter intimidation, violent clashes, and arrests involving individuals wearing unapproved uniforms.

Nineteen polling stations of the Ablekuma North were involved to provide its constituents with a representative after the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Consequently, the Ghana Police Service interdicted one of its officers who was caught on camera slapping a journalist with GH One Television, Banahene Agyekum, during the rerun election at Ablekuma North.

Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Muntaka, has vowed to go after individuals who contributed to chaos during the Parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency.

According to him, justice will be served regardless of the perpetrators’ political affiliation.

He pledged while addressing the media on Monday, July 14, as part of the ‘Government Accountability Series’ programme.

“I can assure you that not my party, not any group, will we sit and allow to see the resurgence of vigilantism. I have spoken to the IGP firmly about the happenings in the Ablekuma North. Videos have been forwarded to him, and we have instructed him to act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to book.

“We’re not going to condone any actions by individuals within or outside our party going around to do the untoward. I can assure the public that we will ensure that under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, no such group will be allowed to form,” he assured.

“King Paluta’s fame might be getting into his head” – DJ Slim

Media Personality and entertainment pundit, DJ Slim has said that musician King Paluta’s fame might be getting into his head.

His assertion follows an incident involving King Paluta at an All-White Party in London, where he halted his performance to hurl insults at a fan.

This has attracted a myriad of criticisms targeted at King Pauta’s conduct.

During GhanaWeb’s X Space on July 11, 2025, centred on discussing the topic, “Managing Emotions on Stage and Audience’s Role in Triggering Artistes,” DJ Slim assessed that King Paluta’s conduct is simply an indication that he is overwhelmed by fame.

“I have dealt with artists from the group up, and some of these things are as a result of fame. People experience fame for the first time and cannot handle it… We can only pray for him,” DJ Slim indicated.

He adds that King Paluta has disrespected all his godfathers, people who could have called him to order and guided him to uphold behaviour that protects his brand.

As a result, King Paluta allegedly now finds himself without the mentorship that could safeguard and build his public image.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Pundit, MC Yaa Yeboah, has advised King Paluta to develop a more visible, relatable or charismatic identity outside of his music.

While she acknowledged his hard work and rise in the industry, MC Yeboah is further asking the musician to cultivate a stronger public persona his fans can relate with apart from his music.

“If you take away King Paluta’s music, he lacks personality. There is nothing to like about him. You have built from underground to where you find yourself. What you have to do is to build a personality so that when the music is not there, people can love you for your personality,” she said.

Meanwhile, MC Yaa Yeboah has motivated numerous young women by sharing her journey to building a strong personal brand.

The vocal social media commentator recounted how her primary school teachers said she was too unattractive to become a journalist or television presenter.

MC Yaa Yeboah emphasized that through hard work and dedication, she has become one of Ghana’s most talented personalities.

During an interview with Okyeame Quophi, she confidently asserted that no one could claim to have slept with her in exchange for a position or promotion in the entertainment industry.

She also condemned socialite Efia Odo for positioning herself as the epitome of beauty.

Yaa Yeboah stated that Efia Odo’s remark calling musician Sista Afia ugly in their recent social media clash was disrespectful, as Efia Odo does not represent the ultimate standard of beauty.

“Some of the comments go as far as being very disrespectful. As I said earlier, Efia Odo may think she is beautiful, but she is not the standard of beauty. In your mind, you could think that you are beautiful and believe that will grant you the right to call someone you believe is not right ugly, but that is not right…”

“What I am saying is that Efia Odo is not the standard of beauty. We don’t say ladies who look at Efia Odo are the only beautiful ladies because no matter how beautiful she thinks she is, there is someone out there who doesn’t see her as beautiful. So all that bullying of calling someone ugly and all should cease because you are not the standard of beauty at all,” she stated during a discussion on the Satu

“Ghanaians should forgive my wife” – Agradaa’s husband pleads

Angel Asiamah, husband of the embattled founder of Heaven Way Christian International Ministry, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, has pleaded with Ghanaians to forgive his wife, who is currently serving a 15-year jail term.

While addressing the church on Sunday, July 13, 2025, Angel Asiamah knelt before the congregation in a heartfelt plea, declaring,

“I plead with you all, God has forgiven her of all sins. Please forgive her, too. I have knelt here before God. I believe wherever she is, the Spirit of God has spoken with her. I plead with all she has offended to forgive her, we appeal to John Dramani Mahama, the First Lady, and the Vice President to forgive her,” he said.

Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, aka Agradaa (aka Evangelist Mama Pat), who used to be a fetish priestess, have been slapped with a 15-years jail sentence linked to her defrauding of church members.

Following her sentence, many wondered whether her church would still run or be shutdown after it’s leaders jail sentence.

In response to this, her husband who also doubles as a fellow pastor of the church, has revealed that, the church would continue “as he remains a pastor and Rev. Mama Pat also remains a pastor as well, the work of God would still go on”.

He said that the verdict is “no new news because many whpo worked for God, many who have taken leadership positions at a point in history suffered imprisonment”.

He continued by drawing comparisons with biblical characters such as Paul and Silas who were imprisoned for doing the work of God and were imprisoned.

He said “it’s normal, considering how things work in the spiritual realm. However quite disturbing as it ought to be in the physical realm.

He claims that “God has ways of honouring his servants hence this might only be the beginning of something good” he said.

Meanwhile, Nana Agradaa, is going to spend 15 years in prison for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.

The Circuit Court in Accra delivered its sentence after it confirmed that she is not pregnant.

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=kPlOtKaD5OI%3Frel%3D0%26modestbranding%3D1

In 2022, she was accused of luring her victims through claims that she possessed spiritual powers to double their money.

Initially admitting guilt to charges including fraudulent advertising and obtaining money under false pretenses, she spent two weeks in remand before being granted bail of GH₵150,000 with three sureties, one requiring justification.

She tricked members of the Godsway International Heaven Church into handing over their cash during a night vigil service at her church in Weija, Accra.

However, in a statement made after the verdict, Pastor Asiamah claimed that the sentencing was rooted in complaints from church members following an all-night service held three years ago.

According to him, the allegations of fraud stemmed from the offertory collected during that service.

Nana Agradaa’s legal team has already described her sentence as “excessive,” noting that the amount in question was only GH¢540.

They have vowed to file an appeal on Monday, claiming the punishment is more about who Agradaa is than what she is alleged to have done.

“I Shazam songs only to realize they are mine” – Benny Blanco

Record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco has revealed that he occasionally forgets the songs he has made due to the number of tracks he has churned out over the past sixteen years.

According to him, Shazam (an app that can identify songs from ambient audio) has become one way he recognizes the songs he has produced.

But before that, he barely remembers every song he has produced.

“Sometimes I am in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Oh, my god, this song’s so good.” And I Shazam it, and then it’s my own song,” he said in a recent appearance on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast.

He explained that he has been doing music for the past 16 years, hence the tendency to forget some of what he has produced.

“I’m old and I can’t remember anything,” the 37-year-old said. “I’ve done, like hundreds of songs that have come out.”

Benny Blanco defended himself in the shocked face of the podcast host, Jake Shane, by asking him if he remembers every word he has mentioned in his podcast since it commenced.

“Let’s say you’re on your 16th season of your podcast and someone’s like, ‘Did you interview Chelsea Handler?’ And you’re like, ‘I think so?’” Blanco said.

Benny Blanco is a hit-making record producer and the uber producer who has worked with everyone from Britney Spears to his fiancée, Selena Gomez.

He has played a behind-the-scenes role in shaping modern pop music.

He has worked with music legends and global stars such as Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd.

Songs like “Love Yourself,” “Diamonds,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Eastside” are just a few examples of his signature touch.

His ability to blend catchy melodies with emotional depth has made him a go-to collaborator for artists seeking both commercial and critical success.

  • Highlife is dead because we didn’t want Reggie, Zapp to own it – Nana Wiredu

Highlife is dead because we didn’t want Reggie, Zapp to own it – Nana Wiredu

Entertainment entrepreneur, Nana Yaw Wiredu aka Nana Yaw 18, has shared his pain over the decline of highlife presence in Ghana’s music scene.

According to him, the industry’s failure to acknowledge the pioneers of the music genre has contributed greatly to the situation.

“We killed our own genre because some people felt Reggie Rockstone didn’t deserve to own hiplife, or Zapp Mallet didn’t have a stake in it. That mindset hurt us,” he said on Channel One TV’s The Chat programme on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

He noted that ancient genres like heavy metal, funk, and electronic music have maintained relevance up to the Grammy level due to sustained support.

Unfortunately, Ghana failed in this area, which has led to the reason highlife is currently losing relevance.

“When you go to the Grammys, you’ll see categories like heavy metal, funk, and electronic music, and you’ll wonder if people still even do those genres. But they’re there because they’ve been sustained. That’s what Ghana failed to do with hiplife,” he said.

Ghana’s vibrant music scene has been blessed with the rise of various genres that have shaped the cultural and social landscape of the nation.

One of the most influential of these is “Hiplife,” a fusion of highlife, hip-hop, and African rhythms.

While Reggie Rockstone is celebrated as the founder of Hiplife, the contributions of Ghanaian producer Zapp Mallet have been unjustly overlooked, even though he played a crucial role in crafting the sound that defined this genre.

Meanwhile, the President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons, has announced plans to organize seminars aimed at reviving the fading identity of highlife music in Ghana.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s Entertainment Lounge, hosted by Odefour DiAsa Paapa, Simons expressed concern over the genre’s gradual decline, noting that while highlife remains widely recognized, it is losing its stronghold as Ghana’s signature music style.

    “It is worrying,” he stated.

As part of efforts to preserve and promote highlife, MUSIGA is set to roll out a series of educational seminars to highlight the genre’s unique characteristics.

“We will start organizing seminars about highlife. We are also working on a documentary with Prof. John Collins for our Golden Jubilee to showcase how highlife has evolved over the years and the key elements that make it distinct,” Simons revealed.

He stressed that highlife is deeply rooted in Ghanaian culture and remains an integral part of daily life.

“Highlife music is played and consumed in every Ghanaian home. It is unique, and once you start singing on a highlife beat, everyone—whether Black or white—can relate to it,” he emphasized.

Simons further highlighted the genre’s rich instrumentation, pointing out its incorporation of various guitar styles such as Amponsah, Odo Nsor, and Dagomba rhythms.

“These elements are what make highlife special. That is why the seminar is very important—not just for Ghanaians but for anyone who wants to learn. Even in London, I saw white musicians traveling to Côte d’Ivoire to learn highlife guitar, and when they returned, they were playing highlife perfectly,” he noted.

Despite concerns over highlife’s diminishing prominence, Simons remains optimistic about its future. He acknowledged the contributions of renowned Ghanaian guitarists such as Odekro Kyekyeku and Aka Blay but stressed the need to train younger musicians to uphold the genre’s legacy.

“Fortunately, we have great guitarists like Odekro, Kyekyeku, and Aka Blay, who are holding the fort. But we need to start building the next generation so that Ghana can officially claim highlife as our musical hallmark,” he urged.

  • Regularise permits or face demolition within 2 months – AWMA to property owners

Regularise permits or face demolition within 2 months – AWMA to property owners

The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) has issued a two-month ultimatum to property owners within the municipality to regularise their building permits.

All property owners are advised to visit the Physical Planning Department of the Assembly with all relevant documentation to commence the regularisation process without delay.

This directive stems from several buildings sighted in the area without proper approval, per a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Assembly, Jacob Shamatey.

The Assembly notes that at the end of the two months, it will undertake stringent measures, including the issuance of stop-work orders, demolition of unauthorised structures, and legal prosecution of offenders by the law.

“Property owners are strongly encouraged to use this grace period to engage with the Assembly and regularise their permits to avoid enforcement actions,” the statement read.

The Assembly has commenced an extensive inventory of unpermitted developments in areas such as Shiashie, Airport Residential Area, Roman Ridge, Dzorwulu, East Legon, West Legon and other parts of the municipality to ensure full compliance with planning and building regulations.

The Assembly’s exercise is intended to promote orderly development, protect public safety, and enhance the attractiveness of the municipality as a preferred destination for residents and investors.

In recent times, several reports of building collapse in the Central Region have raised concerns over the integrity of buildings put up by property owners. Last month, about four deaths were reported in Cape Coast. A biennium ago, the country recorded several injuries and deaths due to the collapse of building strucutres.

In 2023, the Engineering Council of Ghana expressed grave concern over the surge in collapsed buildings in the country, which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties.

To address this trend, the council decided to set up an emergency team to thoroughly investigate the incidents that have taken place so far.

The Registrar of the Council, Mr Wise Ametefe, announced the establishment of the team and stated that it will also offer technical support to Assemblies in enforcing building regulations and directly respond to such disasters.

Mr Ametefe, while speaking to the media, attributed the blame to the respective Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) for not being up to task with respect to the approval of permits for new buildings.

The Engineering Council regulates the practice of engineering and provides for regulated matters to secure the highest professional standards in the practice of engineering.

It is the role of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to ensure that permit applications for new buildings in their area of jurisdiction are thoroughly scrutinised in compliance with the Ghana Accessibility Standards.

In 2016, the government launched the Ghana Standards on Accessibility Design Document in Accra, which provides specifications on how buildings, roads, and recreational centres should be designed to make them accessible to all, especially persons with disabilities. Sections of the Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715), specifically in Article 6 (Access to public places), require owners or occupiers of a public place to provide appropriate facilities that make the place accessible to and available for use by persons with disabilities.

The Act further stipulates that a person who provides service to the public shall put in place the necessary facilities that make the service available and accessible to a person with a disability.

These sections of the Disability Act have since been incorporated into the Ministry of Works and Housing’s Building Regulations (L.I 2465), which, among other things, require professionals in the built industry to have inclusiveness in all housing designs to adequately address the needs of the disabled and the aged.

Results from Ablekuma North rerun begin to emerge

Preliminary results from the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun have begun to emerge.

It is setting the stage for a potentially tense conclusion to the closely monitored contest.

Although the Electoral Commission aimed to engage over 6,000 eligible voters to finalize the constituency’s much-delayed electoral process, the exercise was marred by incidents of violence at some polling centres.

    Find the outcomes below:

  • Polls officially closed in Ablekuma North as sorting and counting begin

Polls officially closed in Ablekuma North as sorting and counting begin

Polls have officially closed in Ablekuma North Constituency’s parliamentary rerun across 19 polling stations today.

Six thousand eligible voters were targeted by the Electoral Commission to carry out the constituency’s repeatedly postponed election.

However, the day was marred by violent scenes at some centres.

The voting process started peacefully at 7:00 a.m. in most locations, but chaos ensued at the Methodist Church polling station in Odorkor, Accra.

A group of men attacked voters and party officials, involving former MP Hawa Koomso,n which led to a brief pause in the voting process but was later resumed.

Some individuals engaged in a fisticuff with the police personnel. Also, a JoyNews journalist was slapped by an unknown individual.

Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Asare, has affirmed that the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce have pledged to ensure security before, during, and after the upcoming Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun.

Meanwhile, several individuals posing as security personnel dressed in brown uniforms near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency have been arrested by the police.

According to reports, their apprehension stems from their failure to provide proper identification.

The victims are in Odorkor Police Station for further investigation.

For years, security agencies have cautioned members of the general public against wearing their uniforms without their authorisation.

Despite the continuous education and warnings issued to the general public to desist from these practices, the trend rather appears to be on the increase.

These unauthorised acts are in contravention of the National Liberation Council Decree (NLCD) 177 of 1967, which is still in force.

Despite the tension, most centres saw orderly voting under tight security. The rerun follows a legal tussle over incomplete collation in the December 2024 polls.

JOYNEWS exposes face of thug who assaulted their reporter at Ablekuma

JOYNEWS has discovered the face of the thug who assaulted one of their journalist when violence erupted at the Ablekuma North constituency parliamentary rerun on Friday 11 July 2025.

The young man who had part of his face covered with a cloth mask walked straight to Sally Martey as she passed near the St.Peter’s Society Methodist Church polling station.

The reporter was on her usual assignment, reporting on the rerun when the assault occurred.

The thug came up behind Sally and suddenly attacked her with a slap and pushed her hard for no clear reason.

A shaken Sally recounted after the incident, “I did nothing. He just came at me and attacked me.”

The entire chaotic incident has been widely condemned by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) including other media advocacy groups.

It has also raised concerns among media watchdogs and election observers, who say attacks on journalists are becoming an alarming trend in Ghana’s democracy.

JOYNEWS condemns attack on its journalist

“JOYNEWS strongly condemns the assault of one of our journalists by an unknown thug during the Ablekuma North constituency rerun. The journalist, who was on the ground to carry out her legitimate duties as a member of the press, was attacked without provocation while covering the electoral process.”

“This attack is an affront not just to JOYNEWS, but to press freedom and democracy in Ghana. No journalist should be intimidated, harassed, or assaulted for doing their job, especially during such a critical civic exercise as an election.”

“We call on the Ghana Police Service to swiftly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrator to justice. We also urge the Electoral Commission and all political stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of media professionals at all polling centres.”

“JOYNEWS remains committed to upholding the public’s right to timely, accurate, and impartial information. We will not be deterred by acts of intimidation.”

‘She deserves it!’ – Hanna Bissiw reacts to assault on Hawa Koomson

The administrator of the Minerals Development Commission,  Dr Hanna Louisa Bissiw, has reacted to the assault on former Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson, earlier today at Ablekuma North Constituency.

According to Madam Bissiw, she has been a victim of a similar assault engineered by the former Awutu Senya East MP.

Hence, she cannot pretend to sympathize with her now, as she [Hawa Koomson] is having a taste of her own medicine.

“I’m a victim of Hawa Koomson. Ask her if I deserved the man she brought to attack me. Ask her about the people they shot and killed at Kasoa, and the organiser who died. Go and ask her about the guns she used. Did the people she attacked deserve it?” Madam Bissiw quizzed.

Adding that, “I condemn the violence, but please don’t ask me to feel sorry for her, because I’d be lying before you and before God. I don’t feel sorry one bit. She deserves it,” she fumed.

Hawa Koomson was assaulted by a group of men at the Ablekuma North rerun election.

In a video gone viral, a man lunged at Hawa Koomson, pushing her to the ground. Another person was seen kicking her.

The Police officers present intervened and prevented further attack against Hawa Koomson.

Also, there was chaos at the Odorkor Methodist polling station in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Some individuals engaged in a fisticuff with the police personnel. Also, a JoyNews journalist was slapped by an unknown individual.

Voting has been suspended at Odorkor Methodist 1 Polling Station due to the chaos.

Ablekum North elections: “You condemned NPP but you are no better!” – Berla Mundi slams NDC

Ghanaian media personality, Berla Mundi, has called out the National Democratic Congress for infiltrating the Ablekum North elections with thugs.

She noted that the NDC strongly opposed such actions while in opposion.

It is disappointing for her that NDC, now in power, is engaging in similar behaviour as the NPP.

“You condemn the Npp for unleashing thugs on people during elections only to repeat the same thing? And you want Ghanaians to believe you are any better? It’s an election, not a war zone. If you dont agree with someone’s action or presence, you don’t go beating the person up! These thugs should be arrested and prosecuted!” She wrote on X July 11.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is holding an election in 19 polling stations of the Ablekuma North to provide its constituents with a representative after the 2024 parliamentary elections.

However, voting in two polling stations; the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station and St. Peters polling station in the constituency, was suspended following chaos.

At the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station in the Ablekuma North constituency, some individuals engaged in a fisticuff with the police personnel. Also, a JoyNews journalist was slapped by an unknown individual.

In a video gone viral, a man lunged at Hawa Koomson, pushing her to the ground. Another person was seen kicking her.

The Police officers present intervened and prevented further attack against Hawa Koomson.

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reacted to the violence in the ongoing parliamentary rerun in Ablekuma North.

He noted “This is not the democracy that we want to see in Ghana. Our supporters are being attacked by thugs in the presence of the police who have been unable to protect them”.

A security expert, Dr Ismaeel Norman, has stated that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohono, must take responsibility for the unrest in the ongoing Parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Speaking to the media on Friday, July 11, he explained that the feud is a result of poor coordination between the police.

He has called on the constituents to cease any acts of violence and allow the electoral process to proceed peacefully and lawfully.

  • Justin Biber’s new album titled “SWAG” released

Justin Biber’s new album titled “SWAG” released

Canadian singer Justin Bieber has released his seventh album, featuring 21 tracks today.

It is the first album by the songwriter in the past four years.

The pop star collaborated with rap artist Gunna, gospel singer Dijon, rapper Lil B, comedian Druski, rapper Sexyy Red, musician Cash Cobain and singer-songwriter Eddie Benjamin on the album

In a post on Instagram on Friday, July 11, Dijon wrote “Congratulations @lilbieber for making a wild and deeply inspiring record. Grateful to have been able to witness and be a tiny part of a beautiful thing. Humbled!”

The album is said to reflect Justin Bieber’s vulnerability following his social media post where he opened up about feeling unworthy and broken on separate occasions.

In the “Therapy session” of the 14 track, Justin Bieber tells Druski, “I think that’s been a tough thing for me recently is feeling like, you know, I have had to go through a lot of my struggles as a human, as all of us do, really publicly. And so people are always asking if I’m okay, and that starts to really weigh on me.”

“It starts to make me feel like I’m the one with issues and everyone else is perfect,” the 31-year-old, who welcomed his first child, Jack, in August last year expressed.

On of the songs on the track by Druski titled “Standing on Business” pokes fun at a viral June video where Justin Bieber was seen ranting at paparazzi on the beach, accusing them of trying to provoke him.

Druski humorously highlights how Bieber, even in the heat of the moment, pronounced the word “business’ with perfect clarity.

Away from his album, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez had a whirlwind romance that made headlines and broke hearts.

The two stars wrote many songs about each other, expressing their love, pain, and confusion.

Even after they parted ways, fans still wonder if they still have a spark. And when he writes a song for his wife, Hailey, some people think it’s secretly about Gomez.

But let’s forget about the drama and focus on the music. Could these Justin Bieber songs be about Selena Gomez?

  • I consider life challenges as sacrifices that opened doors for me – AratheJay

I consider life challenges as sacrifices that opened doors for me – AratheJay

Ghanaian musician, AratheJay, has described all the hardships he faced at the genesis of his music career as sacrifices that led to his breakthrough.

“There are some things you need to sacrifice. If you have to go and come late to sleep outside like I did. You sleep outside and no one is coming to open the door for you…or you will go to your friend and probably he is not even there but your people at home will think you are with your friends having a good time,” he stated.

He admitted that his parents played a role in the challenges he faced, but he believes their actions were driven by love.

“There was a time they had to send a message to everyone on my contact list that no one should call me,” the musician shared.

He recounted events such as his parent cautioning his contacts from talking to him, sleeping outside in the cold after returning from events late at dawn among others

Ghanaian Highlife artist KK Fosu has also stated that, despite the challenges he faced in his music career, quitting was the last things he considered to do.

According to him, music is not just a career but the heartbeat of his very existence.

“In life, you have to be a soldier and never give up. You see, the challenges will come, but you have to face them. Despite the temptations to doubt and the burden of challenges, I have never once wished to turn away from music. It is my heart, my spirit, my everything,” he reportedly said.

KK Fosu expressed gratitude to God for the gift of writing and composing songs everyday consistently.

Adding that, he might not be seen in the public eye frequently, but he is working assiduously behind the scenes.

“You might see me quiet or taking things slowly, but behind the scenes, the creativity never ceases. I write and compose every single day. I always thank God for this gift, and I reaffirm: we don’t stop. We never stop,” he added.

He has however, announced plans to launch an initiative to discover and nurture the next generation of Ghanaian music stars.

“My fans should get ready for a global Dstyle Concert and also our talent hunt aimed at nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian music stars,” the Ghanaian artiste stated.

Highlife musician, Kuami Eugene, has also confidently stated that the impact he has made through his music will not go down the drain because he departed from Lynx Entertainment.

Many have raised concerns that Kuami Eugene’s career may not rise again since he has left Lynx Entertainment. However, the singer believes otherwise.

In a video on X, the ‘Angela’ hitmaker said he has sung several hit songs, and most of them enjoy consistent play at events and in media houses.

“I sang Angela, confusion, wish me well, kwani kwani remix, obiaa to, open gate, no dulling, killing me softly and many more. So, it will take years for people to forget me.”

“During weddings, they play several of my love hit songs for the couple and the bridal party to dance. There are several songs with my name on them, how can you forget me?” he added.

  • My big booty is the result of weight gain – Wendy Shay on BBL claims

My big booty is the result of weight gain – Wendy Shay on BBL claims

Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay, has responded to claims by some netizens suggesting she has undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure.

Taking to her X page on July 10, 2025, the “Too Late” hitmaker clarified that she has simply gained weight in the right place.

However, she questions why Ghanaians are quick to associate any physical body change with artificial procedures, stressing that several African women are originally endowed with big buttocks.

“So y’all want to tell me before BBL Africans didn’t have a natural shape like mine? What’s with this BBL tag… Is it because I have gained at the right places? Y’all should get a life and stop being naive. What you are seeing is 100% natural and it is not my fault y’all didn’t realise it earlier because of the Bullying when I stepped in the game.”

“I’ve got it since! Clearly, humans will always have something to say. It’s either your booty is too big, too small, or too fake. Mind your business! Africa, Wake Up!” Wendy Shay wrote.

Months ago, the singer called on Ghanaians to change the way they are quick to associate negativity with even genuine situations.

A viral video from April 3, 2025, shows a teenage girl energetically dancing to Wendy Shay’s new song Too Late. While some viewers admired her confidence, others condemned her dance moves and criticized Wendy Shay for performing the song in front of minors.

In response to the backlash, Wendy Shay defended the young dancer, urging the public to embrace positivity instead of tearing down young talents.

“Let us advance our mindset and see positivity in things like this,” she stated.

She described the girl as talented and full of potential, encouraging people to nurture such gifts rather than discourage them.

“I see a lot of negative comments under the post, and it is heartbreaking because what I see is a beautiful, talented, and confident young girl who could become a professional dancer or a musician if she is carefully guided,” Wendy Shay added.

Her statement has reignited discussions on talent development, societal perceptions, and the responsibility of artists in shaping youth culture.

  • Police could not prove Kennedy Ayapong’s claim that I keep blood in my room – Obinim

Police could not prove Kennedy Ayapong’s claim that I keep blood in my room – Obinim

Founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has stated that some of the allegations leveled against him by former member of Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, were not proven by the police at the time.

According to the acclaimed man of God, it is still unknown to him the kind of offence that will warrant such an allegation from the former member of parliament.

He believes that, if such claims were true from the begining, he would have been in jail by now just like Agradaa, who is currently serving a 15-year-jail term.

“They said I have a secret room where I keep blood. The police came and searched the entire church, but they couldn’t find anything,” Obinim stated in a video sighted by GhanaWeb.

In 2024, Obinim came under fire after a video emerged showing him instructing his followers to make seed offerings of at least GH¢20, dismissing smaller amounts as disrespectful to God.

In the video, Obinim urged those who had given GH¢5 or GH¢10 to retrieve their money to avoid it becoming a curse.

Despite facing significant criticism, Obinim remained unfazed, stating that the negative feedbacks did not affect him.

Pushing back against his critics, Obinim emphasized his resilience, citing unsuccessful attempts by his adversary, Kennedy Agyapong, to tarnish his reputation.

During a church service, Obinim remarked, “Kennedy Agyapong, who tried to destroy me, couldn’t succeed. If he, with all his power and wealth, failed, how much less can you? Do you know the challenges I faced because of him? I’ve been summoned by the EOCO, BNI, GRA, National Security, CID, and various courts.”

In 2020, Kennedy Agyapong launched a campaign against certain pastors, accusing them of fraud and exploiting religion.

Mr Agyapong clashed with several figures, including Obinim, leveling allegations of misconduct such as infidelity, money laundering, and spreading false teachings.

This conflict led to Obinim’s arrest by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and subsequent charges for spreading false information, fraud, and document forgery under sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act.

  • Double production cap to 10 million tonnes during initial phase of Manganese Refinery Plant – TMI to govt

Double production cap to 10 million tonnes during initial phase of Manganese Refinery Plant – TMI to govt

Tianyuan Manganese Industry (TMI), the majority shareholder of the Ghana Manganese Company (GMC), has called on the government to double the production cap for its planned Manganese Refinery Plant (MRP) from 5 to 10 million tonnes during the initial phase of the project.

Under Ghana’s new export value-addition policy, the Ghana Manganese Company (GMC), which is 90% owned by TMI, is set to establish a local Manganese Refinery Plant (MRP) aimed at improving the quality of manganese ore from 27% to about 40% manganese content.

While the TMI reaffirmed its support for the Ghana project, it also requested other incentives to ensure feasibility, including “competitive gas pricing at USD 4/MMBtu, tax exemptions on key equipment and services, and income tax incentives during the plant’s initial phase.”

The Manganese Refinery Plant is intended to produce high-grade manganese products for export, including those used in batteries.

The initiative is expected to create jobs, improve technical skills among Ghanaians, boost foreign exchange earnings and tax revenues, and help grow the local economy.

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, embarked on a six-day working visit to TMI’s industrial hub in China from June 28 to July 3, 2025.

The visit, held at the invitation of TMI Chairman Jia Tianjiang, aimed at deepening bilateral collaboration around the establishment of Ghana’s first-ever manganese refinery in Nsuta-Tarkwa.

During the visit, Honourable Buah lauded TMI’s operations and sustainability measures and pledged Ghana’s readiness to facilitate the necessary inter-ministerial consultations to address the company’s proposals.

“Collaborative efforts like these are essential for driving industrial growth, unlocking value from our minerals, and positioning Ghana as a leader in mineral beneficiation across Africa,” he stated.

The total investment into the refinery is about $450 million. Ghana Manganese Company Ltd. (GMC) is the only manganese producer and exporter in Ghana, with a mining legacy spanning over 103 years.

Operating out of Nsuta in the Western Region of Ghana, GMC holds a long-term mining concession covering 170 square kilometers, of which less than 3% has been mined to date, highlighting vast untapped potential.

In 2022, an estimated volume of 3.2 million metric tons of manganese was produced in Ghana. This was against the 5.4 million metric tons produced in 2019, which was the highest since 2009.

Ghana, which, according to reports, is currently the third-largest producer of manganese in Africa after Gabon and South Africa, seeks to significantly increase its production in 2025

  • Govt issues 7-day ultimatum for resolution of dispute between Azumah Resources Ltd, E&P Co. Ltd

Govt issues 7-day ultimatum for resolution of dispute between Azumah Resources Ltd, E&P Co. Ltd

The government has issued a seven-day deadline for Azumah Resources Ghana Limited and Engineers & Planners (E&P) Company Limited to amicably settle their ongoing dispute.

In a letter signed by Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah on July 10, both companies have been urged to end the public exchanges and instead focus on “constructive dialogue and responsible engagement.”

“I have decided to grant the parties a final period of seven (7) days within which to resolve the matter amicably. Should this period elapse without a mutually agreed resolution, a decision shall be taken in the best interest of the country,” the minister warned.

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, has acknowledged the minister’s response but is seeking clarification on what specific measures could be taken in the interest of the nation.

“We need the government to articulate clearly what that interest is and then explain from a policy standpoint how we will get there,” he wrote in a post on X.

Mr. Simons has also questioned the legal grounds for Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah’s seven-day ultimatum to the two disputing organizations. “What is the legal and regulatory basis for the 7-day ultimatum?” he quizzed.

He pointed out that the case is already before arbitration and the local courts; hence, the government’s role should be to “promote settlement through rational compromises on both sides,” adding that such resolutions often take time and should not be rushed.

The ongoing dispute between Engineers & Planners (E&P) and Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd is about the takeover of the Black Volta Gold Project in the Upper West Region. This project is expected to be Ghana’s first large-scale gold mine owned by a local company.

Engineers & Planners, which is fully owned by Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama, is said to have signed an agreement in October 2023 to buy the gold project from Azumah Resources, an Australian company operating in Ghana.

To support the purchase and development, E&P secured $100 million from the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), with an additional $30 million expected at the end of 2024.

The ECOWAS bank and E&P signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this deal, and several top industry and government figures were present during the signing ceremony.

A well-known businessman, Sir Dr. Sam Jonah, who chaired the event, praised the deal as a proper business agreement and not political or based on favors and not influenced by backdoor dealings.

Ibrahim Mahama explained that although he was initially unsure about the project due to its long delays over the years, he later agreed to move forward after reviewing the plans and confirming the project’s potential. Since then, E&P has reportedly been paying $500,000 every month to fund the project as agreed.

Dr. George Donkor, President of EBID, also said the deal is purely for business growth, job creation, and economic development—not linked to politics in any way.

Despite the purported progress, disagreements have emerged between E&P and Azumah Resources. Azumah Resources has denied reports suggesting that Engineers and Planners has acquired or invested in its Black Volta Gold Project.

Managing Partner (Corporate Affairs) John Mason told the media on July 8 that “As it stands now, Azumah Resources is the sole owner of the Black Volta Gold Project, and we have not sold it, nor are we in the process of selling it. Our issue with the E&P is with the ICC, and we are waiting for the ICC hearing.”

Over the matter, Mr Bright Simons has cautioned that given the political undertones surrounding the issue, “it is important that decisions taken by the government be seen as impartial, level-headed, and truly supportive of sound governance.”

Diddy’s twin daughters launch clothing brand, ‘12Twinty1’

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ twin daughters, D’Lila and Jessie, have announced the launch of their new clothing line known as 12Twinty1.

The Eighteen-year-olds made this known in an Instagram video, Monday, July 7.

“Today, we have a very, very big and exciting announcement. We’re launching our very own clothing line, Welcome to 12Twinty1,” they both said in unison.

Jessie also stated, “This line is more than just fashion. It’s personal to us.”

While D’Lila added, “Everyone always asks if we really think alike, and the answer is definitely. The connection we have is just beyond words. That connection is the heart of our brand,” as they both embraced each other in their launch video on social media.

The news comes just a few days after their dad was cleared of serious criminal charges in a New York court.

But he was still found guilty of a lesser charge for prostitution and is expected to be let out of jail soon.

Diddy has already spent some time in jail and is likely to be put on probation when he returns to court in October.

The music producer has been judged not guilty of sex trafficking and being part of a criminal gang by a U.S jury.

The verdict came on Tuesday, July 2, in New York after a high-profile trial that started in May.

The jury spent three days and over 13 hours discussing the case before agreeing on all five charges.

The charges came from the testimonies of Cassie and Jane, both of whom had romantic relationships with Combs.

They spoke in Court about being taken to hotels where Combs allegedly arranged for other men to have sex with them while he watched, filmed or gave directions, calling these events “freak-offs” or “hotel nights.”

Before the verdict was announced, Combs was seen praying with his children and hugging his lawyers.

In the room where many were watching, emotions were high and people reacted audibly as each decision was read, even though the judge had asked for silence.

Although he was cleared of the most serious charges, his lawyers believe the guilty verdicts shouldn’t stop him from being granted bail.

Thomas Partey deserves support from GFA, govt – Bullgod

Artist manager Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, is advocating for aid from the Ghana Football Association and the government for Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey.

According to the UK Metropolitan Police, the footballer is currently facing rape and sexual assault charges in the United Kingdom after an incident that happened between 2021 and 2022.

Bullgod is of the belief that Partey has served the nation well, especially by helping Ghana qualify for the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups, and deserves support during this difficult time.

“We are praying for him, and I believe the GFA and the government should help him. He is a Ghanaian who has made the country proud,” Bullgod appealed on United Showbiz over the weekend.

However, the GFA and government are yet to respond to Bullgod’s appeal, as the case is still being handled by the UK courts.

Meanwhile, the lawyer of Ghanaian international, Thomas Partey, has denied the charges of rape and sexual assault against her client.

The statement issued by Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, noted:

“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”

The lawyer noted that as legal proceedings are ongoing, her client will not make any further comment on the matter.

Partey is expected to appear at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.

Partey spent five seasons at Arsenal after being signed in 2020 for £45m but is now a free agent after his contract expired on Monday.

In June, Thomas Partey once again won the Player of the Year award at the 2025 edition of the Ghana Football Awards.

He beat both Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth and Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams to bag the award. This marked the third time the Ghanaian international has won the award, with the first and second bagged in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

According to reports, Partey won the award for his exceptional contributions to Arsenal and the Black Stars.

  • Monthly support by Italian govt after road accident not huge – Ogidi Brown

Monthly support by Italian govt after road accident not huge – Ogidi Brown

Italian-based Ghanaian artiste and OGB Music boss, Ogidi Brown, has clarified that the monthly support he receives from the Italian government since his road accident is not hefty.

“The monthly payments I receive are not as massive as people think,” he told ZionFelix in an interview in Italy, pushing back against assumptions about life in Europe after such incidents.

His reason for providing this information is not immediately known at the time of filing this report.

However, Ogidi Brown has lauded the Italian government for taking personal interest in his well-being, unlike Ghana’s government.

“I thank God it didn’t happen in Ghana. Some would even be glad to receive as little as GHS 10,000. Sadly, others don’t get any compensation at all,” he stated.

Adding to these benefits, Ogidi Brown revealed that the Italian government secured proper accommodation and provided him with a high-quality wheelchair, including a motorized device to aid his mobility.

“They gave me an expensive wheelchair, and every five years, I can apply for a new one,” he said.

The musician suffered a life-threatening accident in Italy in April 2015, which has sent him into a wheelchair. However, he has continued to make good music, sign other musicians onto his label, and help them gain limelight.

The entertainer revealed that it will be tough to choose between Ghana and Italy because both countries have become his home.

However, if pushed to the wall, then he will opt for Italy when it comes to his healthcare and then Ghana for his music career.

Ogidi Brown currently stays in Italy but visits Ghana often, as he owns and operates other businesses in the country.

According to him, he has come across numerous female acts who are very talented, but they often don’t want to sign them due to the negative perception that comes along with it.

“The perception of intimacy out there has affected numerous talented female artistes and it is killing their talents.”

“I would love to sign a female artiste but sometimes I think about what people would say even though such things might not even have occurred.”

“For me, I think we should dwell on the talent of our female artistes and not invade on their private lives and I think it is not even wrong to have a relationship with your manager,” he told Ghana News Agency.

I was mercilessly beaten by Akuapem Poloo – Mr. Savage “cries out”

Entertainment host, Mr Savage, has opened up about a moment on his show when he was physically assaulted by socialite Akuapem Poloo during an interview.

Mr savage was responding to a question about whether he had ever been brutalized while hosting, and he pointed to his experience with Poloo as a clear example.

“People think that I made her beat me on purpose. But why will I do that? Why would I ask someone to intentionally hurt me? No, it was not planned. We were just asking her questions, and I noticed she was getting upset. I tried to back away, but before I could say Jack, she had already started beating me. So it was very personal,” Mr Savage in an interview on Daybreak Hitz.

Mr savage added that although he had previously been attacked by Achipalago, it did not compare with what Akuapem Poloo did to him. compared to the beatings I received from Akuapem Poloo.

“Achipalago also beat me, but that was nothing compared to the beatings I got from Poloo. Poloo beat me o… it was proper beatings,” he said.

    Back story

Akuapem Poloo physically abused Mr Savage during a live interview.

The celebrity mother of two was a guest on the Savage Room podcast hosted by Dave, when he asked her about her jail time, her dance video with American singer Cardi B and her fashion sense, especially her maternity style.

Akuapem Poloo found herself in a heated confrontation with a blogger who dared inquire about her son’s relationship status.

Known for her candid and no-nonsense approach to personal matters, Akuapem Poloo did not hold back in addressing the blogger’s probing questions.

The actress’s reaction was swift and unfiltered, as she mercilessly put the blogger in his place, emphasising boundaries when it comes to family matters.

Akuapem Poloo expressed that questions about her son’s personal relationships are off-limits and urged the media and fans alike to respect her family’s privacy.

But Mr Savage only respected Akuapem Poloo’s decision the hard way.

  • Why Ghanaian musicians make hits but have empty pockets

Why Ghanaian musicians make hits but have empty pockets

Once upon a studio session—one of those long, caffeine-fueled nights lit by LED strips and hope—a young artist laid down what would soon become a nationwide hit.

The beat slapped, the vocals were clean like church shoes on Sunday, and the hook? Unskippable. Within weeks, the song caught fire. Radio spins, TikTok challenges, influencer reposts—it was everywhere.

The artiste went to bed streaming and woke up trending. Fans were tagging, blogs were buzzing, and playlists couldn’t get enough. But amid all the noise, something else became painfully loud: silence in the bank account.

    Streams? Countless.

    Exposure? Endless.

    Paycheck? MIA.

    So, what went wrong?

This isn’t a fable. It’s a reality far too many talented creatives face. In today’s music industry, your contract—not just your talent—determines your income. The applause might be loud, but if the paperwork isn’t in order, your payday might whisper… or not come at all.

Unfortunately, many artistes discover this truth the hard way: after the release, after the hype, and often, after everyone else has been paid—except them.

You see, behind every chart-topping single lies a tangled web of copyrights, contracts, and royalty streams. It’s less fairy tale, more legal thriller. And if you don’t understand how these systems work, you might unknowingly hand over the keys to your own kingdom—while someone else cashes the royalty cheques from your reign.

A beat might slap, but if the deal doesn’t—you won’t eat.

The harsh truth? You can write the hook, sing the chorus, fund the session, and carry the promo on your back… but if your signature lands on the wrong contract, you may just end up a ghost in your own success story.

Two Songs in One: The Composition and the Recording

The moment a song is written and captured in a tangible form—whether scribbled in a notebook or saved as a voice memo—a copyright is born. This is known as the compositional copyright or publishing rights.

    But there’s more.

The instant that song is recorded in a studio, a second copyright comes into existence: the sound recording copyright, often referred to as the Master. This recording unlocks its own world of royalties—streaming income, licensing deals, performance rights, and more.

    Here’s where things get tricky.

In many cases, the record label owns the sound recording, not the artiste. Unless you’re an independent act who personally funds and controls your recordings, your “hit” may not legally belong to you—even if you wrote and performed every note.

Where the Money Flows: Royalties & Rights You Should Know

    Let’s break it down:

    1. Artiste Royalties

These are contractual. If you’re signed to a label, they earn from your recording—and may share a percentage with you. But how much (or if you get anything at all) depends entirely on your contract. A good contract = fair earnings. A bad one? You may see nothing but exposure.

    2. Needle Time Royalties

This is a legal right—not a contractual one. When your track plays on the radio, it triggers royalties for the composer and the owner of the sound recording. In Ghana, for instance, GHAMRO handles this for both composers and performers.

Session musicians, backing vocalists, and producers who perform on a track are all eligible for a slice of this pie. Yet, many don’t even know it exists. If you contributed to a track’s recording, you may be owed money.

    3. Producer Royalties

Producers aren’t automatically entitled to future royalties unless they negotiate for it. Many settle for an upfront fee, but top-tier producers often land both: a payment and a share in future income.

That said, most producers are also eligible for needle time, as their performances count. Know your worth. Put it in writing.

    4. Sync Licensing: When Your Song Meets the Screen

Ever wonder how songs end up in films, TV shows, or ads? That’s called sync licensing, and it’s a goldmine—if you own the rights.

To legally use a song in visual media, two licenses are required:

    • One from the composer/publisher for the underlying composition.

    • One from the label or rights holder for the sound recording.

Take the film Baby Driver, for example. Its music-to-action choreography was groundbreaking. But before a single scene could be cut to a beat, every track had to be cleared—twice.

If you don’t own the master, you don’t get that check.

    5. Music Video Royalties: A Third Copyright Emerges

Turning your track into a music video creates yet another copyright: the cinematograph film. This opens additional revenue doors, like:

    • VPL royalties (when your video airs on TV)

    • Income from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram views

But here’s the catch: if you appear in a video, you don’t automatically earn from it—unless your contract says so. So, that cameo you did for free might be racking up plays without earning you a pesewa.

     Beyond Copyright: Other Income Streams

Let’s not forget that some of the most lucrative earnings come from areas outside of copyright entirely:

    • Touring & Live Performances

    • Merchandise Sales

    • Brand Sponsorships & Endorsements

    • Fan support platforms like Patreon or Ko-fi

Artistes like Taylor Swift are famously meticulous with their contracts. It’s been reported that her touring deals let her take the lion’s share, while promoters earn from concessions. That’s not luck—it’s smart, strategic contracting.

The Bottom Line: Contracts Are Currency

In the music business, talent may get you heard—but contracts determine if you get paid. Whether you’re a singer, rapper, producer, or label owner, you need to know:

     • What you own

    • What you’re owed

    • And what’s written in black and white

Copyright gives you power. Contracts turn that power into payment.

If you’re serious about your music career, don’t just learn how to create. Learn how to own. Invest time in understanding music business, copyright law, and contract negotiation.

Programmes like a Music Business Masterclass will offer artistes and music professionals the tools to navigate this complex, evolving industry with clarity and confidence.

Create boldly. Own wisely. Get paid fully.

That’s the new sound of success.

The final farewell for the matriarch will take place at the Presbyterian school, where attendees can expect a ceremony filled with music and heartfelt moments.

Madam Nyamaa drew her final breath on November 13, 2024 at Mpraeso Government Hospital.

Kojo Antwi, known by his fans as “Mr Music Man,” has long spoken of his mothers’s role as a major influence in his musical journey, especially highlighted in one of his early classic hits, “Bre Bre Anowaa,” from the “To Mother Africa” album.

As one of the children, Kojo Antwi has continued to celebrate his late mother’s impact through both his personal life and his musical expressions.

Meanwhile, on Monday, January 2, 2023, the musician lost his father, Openin Kwadwo Asiama Asubonten, who died at the Police Hospital in Accra.

I was called gay, womanizer because of fame – Noble Nketsiah

Ghanaian gospel artiste Noble Nketsiah has opened up about misleading claims that were made against him since rising to fame.

Speaking to Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the ‘Mmofra Yi’ hitmaker, the musician said, “I’ve heard people say I’m gay. Others have also said I’m a womanizer,” he revealed. “It’s funny because I ask myself — how can I be both at the same time? It doesn’t make sense.”

Mr Nketsiah said he was however not perturbed by the claims as he understood they came with being in the spotlight.

“I don’t take it seriously. It comes with the territory. If you are known or in the spotlight — especially doing God’s work — people will talk,” he stated

He expressed concern about how quickly Ghanaians focus on rumoirs and spe

“People pay too much attention to hearsay,” he said. “But when you get close to me, you’ll realise the kind of person I truly am.”

Mr Nketsiah has revealed that he once came across a CD of his songs in a shrine.

He said, a video of a vandalized shrine was sent to him by a close friend.

In the video, he saw destroyed items and CDs of some rising artists.

“Imagine my shock when I saw that one of the CDs was mine,” he narrated to Nana Romeo on Okay FM on July 7, 2025.

Adding that, “there were some CDs of some rising artistes” as well.

Despite the shock the news brought to the minister of God, he was more confident in his faith in the Almighty God than in so-called gods.

“I’m not bothered, these things happen. But I know that God is and has always been by my side.”

Sharing a similar experience, popular gospel musician, Cwesi Oteng said his entry into the gospel music industry came with intense spiritual opposition and personal attacks from within the fraternity.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Changes with Roselyn Felli, Cwesi shared that his emergence as a new voice with a unique style sparked resistance from some gospel musicians who felt threatened by his rise.

“When I stepped out into gospel music, I was like a fresh idea and I started breaking a lot of grounds where gospel had not entered. Suddenly, doors were opening for gospel music. It also came with a lot of attacks,” he said. “At a point, it was a spiritual war. Church people were attacking me, saying all sorts of things. Gospel musicians also felt like the guy has come to change the scene.”

According to him, the backlash went beyond criticism. He alleged that people took his debut album — which included songs such as I Win and God Dey Bless Me — to cemeteries and other unknown locations in an attempt to block his progress.

These experiences, he said, have had an impact on his stardom, making it difficult for his newer songs to gain momentum, and causing his visibility in the gospel scene to gradually decline.

Despite the challenges, Cwesi noted that he chose to take a break to focus on his well-being and return stronger.

“You also want to live long, so when you realise that, you re-energize yourself. Stardom is really my thing; I can leave the scene, take care of myself for a year, and come back. Trying to be in people’s faces all the time is not it for me,” he stated.

Cwesi Oteng has since released a new single titled Favour, which he describes as a reminder to believers of God’s goodness and the importance of declaring His favor

Nicki Minaj accuses Jay-Z of refusing to pay $200m debt

Globally renowned female rapper Nicki Minaj has publicly exposed music mogul Jay-Z over an unpaid debt.

According to a post the rapper shared on X, the Roc Nation founder owes her between $100 million and $200 million.

She claims the money is linked to unsettled financial dealings from the platform’s 2021 sale.

Taking to X on Tuesday, the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker urged Jay-Z to “settle this karmic debt,” warning that the longer it remains unpaid, the more interest it will accrue.

“We’ve calculated about 100–200MM so far… You still in my Top 5 tho. Let’s get it,” she posted.

Minaj is arguing that Tidal had shortchanged her equity payouts.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z has yet to respond to the accusations.

Nicki Minaj, the reigning queen of rap, clinched a long-awaited triumph at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Despite being hailed as the most successful female rapper in history, Minaj had, until 2024, notably lacked a Grammy win, making her one of the most-nominated artists without a trophy.

With an impressive dozen nominations under her belt, the coveted Grammy seemed difficult.

The breakthrough finally arrived at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where Minaj, alongside collaborator Ice Spice, secured nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media for their chart-topping single, “Barbie World,” featured in the Barbie film and its soundtrack.

In a delightful twist for her devoted fans, often referred to as the ‘Barbz,’ Nicki Minaj emerged victorious, clinching the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

The win not only marked a historic moment in Minaj’s illustrious career but also solidified “Barbie World” as another massive hit for the rap sensation and propelled Ice Spice into the limelight as one of the hottest new stars in the music industry.

The single’s success propelled both artists back into the upper echelons of the Hot 100 chart, with “Barbie World” reaching an impressive No. 7 position.

Agradaa is in Nsawam prison – Police PRO clarifies

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Prisons Service, Adamu Latif, has clarified that convicted televangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, is in prison and not at large.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam morning show on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, he entreated Ghanaians to disregard calculating reports alleging that Agradaa is not in police custody at Nsawam.

“We are all aware that the court convicted our sister and mother, Agradaa, for offences she committed. There are videos circulating that claim she has not yet arrived at the prison facility. I want to state categorically that Agradaa is in prison. We brought her to the facility last Saturday. She is in our custody,” he said.

He explained that there was a brief delay between sentencing and incarcerating Agradaa due to the processes involved in administrative procedures.

However, Agradaa was officially transferred to the Nsawam Female Prison on Saturday, 5 July, just two days after she was sentenced by Judge Evelyn E. Asamoah at the Accra Circuit Court ‘10’ on Thursday, 3 July 2025.

The PRO also addressed further allegations and claims that Agradaa had been physically assaulted by other inmates or enemies within the prison.

“Inmates’ rights are protected in prison. Officers are not permitted to assault prisoners, and no inmate is allowed to abuse a fellow inmate.”

Nana Agradaa is going to spend 15 years in prison for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.

The Circuit Court in Accra delivered its sentence after it confirmed that she is not pregnant.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian gospel musician Gifty Oppong Adorye, known in showbiz as Empress Gifty, has dragged Evangelist Mama Pat, popularly known as Agradaa, to court for defaming her.

In a video targeting Empress Gifty’s husband, Hopeson Adorye, Agradaa extended her attacks to the singer, accusing her of engaging in bestiality and unfaithful activities.

According to Gifty, other bloggers have leveraged Agradaa’s statement to spread false narratives about her.

This has affected the “Watch Me” singer and her family, as their children are being ridiculed by friends in school.

In addition to the negative impact of Agradaa’s conduct, lawyers of Empress Gifty say her trip abroad slated for August has been jeopardized.

The words used by Agradaa are interpreted to mean the following:

    a) The plaintiff is promiscuous and a prostitute.

    b) The plaintiff is a zoophile who flirts with dogs to earn her money to cater for her husband.

    c) The plaintiff is an adulterous or an unchaste wife who has extramarital affairs with other men, and most of her paramours are pastors.

    d) Pastors who invite the Plaintiff to their programs have sexual intercourse with her in their offices before the Plaintiff mounts the pulpit to sing.

    e) The plaintiff is an imbecile.

Consequently, Empress Gifty is claiming the sum of twenty million Ghana Cedis for damages for slander.

She is also seeking a perpetual injunction to prevent the defendant, along with associates, agents, and anyone acting on her behalf, from making further publications of the same or similar defamatory statements.

We never liked the idea of dressing alike – DopeNation

Twins are often known for dressing alike, but that was never the case for popular Ghanaian music duo Michael Boafo, popularly known as B2, and Tony Boafo known as Twist, collectively known as DopeNation.

According to them, wearing the same outfit did not sit well with them.

Thus, they curved their unique style and fashion to suit their preference.

“On this side of the world, it’s kind of compulsory, your parents make you dress alike when you step out. But we never liked that idea, so we squashed it at a point,” they shared on the premiere season of Just Being Us with MzGee.

They recounted several instances of having petty fights caused by “time, a song, the kind of instrument we want to use, or even where to hold our next concert.”

But their parent had enough the troubles and decided them in different schools.

“There was this fight over tie-and-dye clothing just before senior high school. After that, our dad had had enough. He decided to separate us, sent one to a boys’ school and the other to a mixed school,” they explained.

DopeNation had also explained their single status on Delay’s show.

The twins, despite their fame, attributed their relationship skepticism to the belief that love is a facade, leaving Delay visibly taken aback.

“Most people who are in love happen to be in a situation where it’s all in their heads. You feel happy about it but for that same momentum you have with feeling happy, you can feel very sad the day you’ll be heartbroken,” they said as they seamlessly completed each other’s sentences,” DopeNation stated.

During the discussion, the duo shared their perspective on love, emphasising that it often exists only in one’s mind.

They deemed it a “scam,” asserting that commitment comes with a hefty price, especially in terms of emotional investment and potential heartbreak.

“So, we feel like it’s a scam. It’s a scam because it’s only real when you believe in it. When you don’t believe in it, it’s like a facade,” they added, stressing that, “Being committed to someone is expensive” because “you may not know their whereabouts and activities when you are away from you.”

Furthermore, DopeNation revealed their unconventional family background, asserting they were born out of wedlock and only encountered their estranged father at the age of fourteen.

Despite efforts to foster a continuous familial bond, their intentional mention of him in the interview prompted a rare response from their father, leading to a conversation.

The twins expressed the challenges in maintaining a relationship with their father, citing periods of silence after reconnecting and addressing issues.

Despite these hurdles, they expressed a desire to visit him in the future.

I never imagined TikTok would give me global recognition – Chef Abbys

Ghanaian culinary sensation and digital content creator Abena Amoakoa Sintim-Aboagye, popularly known as Chef Abbys, has stated that her rise to fame was completely unexpected.

Chef Abbys was selected as the only African creator to represent TikTok at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France.

According to her, her TikTok journey began out of a simple joy of showcasing the beauty of Ghanaian cooking.

Little did she know that it was a step to attain greater heights.

“Honestly, I started just to share the joy of Ghanaian cooking. I never imagined TikTok would be the platform that would take me from Accra to the global stage in Cannes,” she reflected in an interview.

Chef Abbys has won the hearts of global audences by combiing the richness of traditional Ghanaian cuisine with a modern, visually appealing presentation style.

Her videos go beyond cooking. They celeberate local ingredients, shocase cultural traditions and tell the deeper stories behind Ghanaian meals to a worldwide audience.

Affter collaborating with international creators and partnering with major brands such as Nestlé and TikTok, she is now urging Ghanaian creatives to take bold steps and begin their journeys, even if everything isn’t perfect from the start.

“Don’t overthink it, Abena. Just start. Your story matters, and the world is waiting to hear it,” she said—speaking to her younger self, and now hoping the message resonates with every aspiring creator who doubts their value.

“You don’t need perfect lighting or a perfect video. Be yourself, and let your culture shine through your content. Your perspective is valid. The world doesn’t need another copy—it needs you.”

Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul Razak, widely known as Chef Faila, has expressed that even though her attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Cooking Marathon by an individual was unsuccessful, she considers the experience a major breakthrough.

“Prior to the cooking marathon, I was simply a young woman from Northern Ghana, driven by passion to make a meaningful impact in my community. My ultimate goal was to shine a spotlight on the north, showcasing its richness and potential, while elevating Ghana’s profile globally.

“It was just a dream before my attempt. However, the GWR attempt proved to be a transformative experience, far exceeding my expectations. Although I didn’t break the record, I gained something more valuable in terms of visibility, connections and a platform to amplify my vision,” she said.

Renew my mother’s diplomatic passport or go to court – DJ Azonto tells Medikal over copyright claims

Ghanaian entertainer and self-acclaimed Amapiano king DJ Azonto has issued a list of staggering demands after accusing rapper Medikal, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, and producer Beatztrap KOTM of using his signature catchphrase “Alla” in their newly released song “Shoulder” without permission.

DJ Azonto’s manager and PRO for the Rolls-Royce Family, signed a statement explaining that “Alla’ which forms part of his well-known slogan “Alla Wayo” was used without persmission.

They believe it’s wrong because the term has become a big part of his image, performances and connection with fans.

“As such, DJ Azonto is demanding $100million cash, a fully activated diplomatic Passport for his mother, 10 Diamond Chains, three brand new Rolls Royce (for his daughters), 90% ownership stake on Shaxi, beach house in Miami and a public apology and acknowledgment of DJ Azonto as the original creator and campaigner of the “Alla” movement,” the statement read.

The letter further said that Medikal and his team should be prepared to appear in court if they fail to meet DJ Azonto’s demands.

“If these demands are not met, we will not hesitate to take full legal action against all parties at the court.

“We have repeatedly advised all creatives that intellectual property is not for free use, especially in an industry where only our identity and originality are the cornerstones of success,” the statement ended.

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye also took to social media months ago to express frustration over what she described as a blatant violation of her intellectual property rights.

According to her, several TV stations in Ghana have been airing her work without permission—a situation she finds unacceptable and unlawful. She called on relevant authorities to investigate and address the matter promptly.

Her post, which tagged both Sam George and Kafui Danku, gained significant traction online, drawing widespread reactions from the public. While many supported her demand for justice, others questioned her claims.

Among the critics was Ghanaian media personality and plus-size advocate Miz Debbie, who argued in a video response that the broadcast of Bimbo’s films in Ghana amounted to free publicity. She dismissed Bimbo’s concerns as an attempt to chase clout and gain more visibility for her movies.

Bimbo swiftly reacted by resharing Miz Debbie’s video and reiterating her call for official action. She maintained that the situation should not be trivialised, describing Miz Debbie’s position as “defending theft.”

Responding directly under Bimbo’s post, Kafui Danku assured her that steps were being taken to halt the unauthorised broadcasts. “Hi ma’am, my management and I are working on putting a stop to this. You should see definite actions in a couple of weeks,” she wrote.

Sam George also addressed the issue, confirming that he had taken note of Bimbo’s complaint and would engage his colleague responsible for overseeing television content. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding intellectual property rights and ensuring that such violations are addressed.

“My attention has been drawn to your post thanks to the tag. I would be raising the issue with my colleague minister responsible for overseeing television content. However, I wish to assure you that our government is very respectful of intellectual property rights and will ensure the protection of same,” he stated.

Both officials’ responses signal a willingness to strengthen protections for content creators and foster continued collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria’s creative industries.

YEA partners Weave Ghana to employ 2,000 unemployed youth

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malik Basintale, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Weave Ghana Limited to train and recruit 2,000 youth.

The partnership aims to provide practical training and job opportunities for the youth in the country, particularly in the manufacturing and services sectors.

At the meeting on Tuesday, July 8, Mr Basintale said, “I have gone through the MoU and I’m sure you have gone through it too, and I think it’s fine.”

The wholly Ghanaian company manufactures synthetic hair products and provides services such as hair fashion as well as hair care, which is imported from its sister company in Nigeria.

Head of Human Resources at Weave Ghana Limited, Rose Marison, in her submission stated that “Because we have a factory in Ghana, we are happy to create the opportunity for employment, especially for the youth.”

As of 2023, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) reported that the national youth unemployment rate for young adults of 15-24 years was about 32.8 percent and in this age category, the average unemployment rates were much higher in some of the northern regions, with the Upper East region having 39 percent, the Savannah region 38.2 percent, and the North East 34.7 percent.

In the first half of 2025, the YEA has partnered with several institutions and companies to provide more job opportunities to the Ghanaian youth.

In April this year, the agency entered a one-year agreement with SoccaBet Ghana to create 500 job placements. Also, the YEA, in partnership with the Ghana Fire Service, will recruit 5,000 young Ghanaians as fire assistants across the country.

The YEA and the Ghana Police Service have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to recruit 12,000 young individuals across the country to serve as Community Police Assistants (CPAs).

Speaking at the signing ceremony in May at the Ministry of Interior, Mr Malik Basintale noted that the government’s priority is not solely about creating job opportunities but “involving our youth in building safer communities.

In the same month, Chief Executive Officer of SHAXI—a ride-hailing platform set up in 2021—Charles Nii Armah entered a youth employment partnership with the agency to create thousands of jobs for Ghanaian youth who remain unemployed or seek better job opportunities.

As part of this collaboration, YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles that subscribe to the SHAXI platform with GHC500 worth of fuel coupons every month for six months.

“This bold move is designed to ease the operational cost for drivers and encourage more youth participation in the transport business,” YEA noted.

In March this year, Mr Basintale announced plans to create 100,000 new jobs for Ghanaian youth through the creation of new mobile applications. Mr. Basintale clarified that each app has a unique purpose and is meant to serve different needs.

“The first app is specifically for artisans and skilled workers such as plumbers, carpenters, tailors, masons, and electricians. This platform will make it easier for individuals and businesses to connect with professionals, both locally and internationally,” he posted on Facebook.

According to Mr Basintale, the app for artisans is being developed through a public-private partnership (PPP).

The second app, he said, is YEA’s own Job Centre, which will link job seekers with employers across various industries. Unlike the first app, which focuses on artisans, the Job Center will serve a wider range of job seekers.

“This app will be easy to use, so anyone in Ghana can search for jobs without needing IT expertise,” Mr Basintale assured.

He also stressed that YEA will bear no cost for the creation of the apps, addressing concerns about potential financial burdens on the agency.

  • Ex-NafCo boss Abdul-Wahab Hannan freed after two weeks in EOCO custody

Ex-NafCo boss Abdul-Wahab Hannan freed after two weeks in EOCO custody

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, Abdul-Wahab Hannan, was on Tuesday, July 8, was released from the custody of Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after being detained for 14 days.

Abdul-Wahab Hannan was released after meeting GH¢60 million bail condition backed by two guarantors. On June 25, Hannan and his spouse were taken into custody over suspected mismanagement of funds while he led the government agency.

His wife was granted bail earlier, set at GH¢30 million. Earlier reports indicated that Mr Hanna had met the bail terms; however, he remained in the custody of EOCO, a situation that drew backlash from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), which called the terms harsh and unfair.

A third suspect, an unnamed individual believed to be linked to the investigation, has also been detained.

Meanwhile, EOCO and two others—the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) and the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine (defendants)—have been dragged to court by the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye (plaintiff).

Abronye’s legal case is over the detention of suspects for over 48 hours on the basis that they have not met their bail conditions.

He wants the Supreme Court to declare that the continued detention of suspects by EOCO and NIB beyond 48 hours, solely on the basis that they have not met bail conditions—however excessive—constitutes a violation of Article 14(3) and is unconstitutional.

Abronye has prayed the apex court to give a proper interpretation of Article 14(3) of the Constitution. The law states that “A person who is arrested, restricted or detained for the purpose of bringing him before a court in execution of an order of a court; or upon reasonable suspicion of his having committed or being about to commit a criminal offence under the laws of Ghana, and who is not released, shall be brought before a court within forty-eight hours after the arrest, restriction or detention.”

He asserts that the arresting institutions, including EOCO and NIB, lack constitutional authority to detain any person beyond 48 hours without judicial authorisation, regardless of whether bail has been granted but not executed, and wants the court to declare so.

Mr Baffoe wants the court to tackle the issue of EOCO and NIB granting bail on excessive or punitive terms that deprive suspects of actual release. According to him, this “constitutes a constructive denial of bail” and “undermines the purpose and spirit of Article 14, especially clause 3.”

The plaintiff is urging the court to issue an order directing EOCО and the NIB to take all necessary and lawful steps to ensure that all persons arrested and granted bail but unable to fulfil the bail conditions imposed, are either released or brought before a court of competent jurisdiction within 48 hours of their arrest or detention.

The defendants have within fourteen days after the service on them of the statement of the plaintiff’s case, inclusive of the day of service, to file or cause to be filed for them a statement of the defendant’s case in an action of the suit. Abronye’s legal redress comes after the detention and bail term of some members of the erstwhile government.

Over a month ago, embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), was in the custody of the NIB and EOCO at different times over alleged serious criminal offences, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.

Chairman Wontumi spent over 4 days in the custody of the arresting institutions over his inability to meet a GHC50 million bail term with two sureties. His bail term was challenged by the Minority in Parliament. A bail application hindered his early release after he managed to meet the bail term.

After the discontinuation of the bail waiver term case, Chairman Wontumi was released on Monday evening, June 2. The Minority condemned his detention that violated Article 14, clause 3, of the 1992 constitution.

The consequential issues on CJ’s removal will be dealt with after committee’s findings – President Mahama

His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to due process in the matter concerning the suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, stating that any actions will be based solely on the findings of the five-member committee tasked with investigating the matter.

Describing the case as one of the most challenging governance issues in his administration so far, the president noted that the committee, chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang, now has full responsibility to deliver its report.

“Based on that (the findings), whatever the consequential issues are will be dealt with,” he stated, assuring that the government will not interfere with the work of the committee.

He mentioned that the council has played its role in the matter and awaits the findings of the 5-member committee hearing the petitions, which is chaired by Supreme Court judge, Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang.

“On the issue of governance, we have had a difficult issue with regard the suspension of the Chief Justice. Of course, the Council of State was involved in a part of that process.

“And so, we have done our part. The rest is left with the committee that was set up to come out with whatever its findings are,” he said.

Meanwhile, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, has in her fact of case noted that her suspension by President Mahama was carried out arbitrarily and capriciously.

Justice Torkornoo was suspended on Tuesday, April 22, by President John Dramani Mahama following the establishment of a prima facie case based on separate petitions calling for her removal.

The action was in accordance with Article 146(6) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and comes after consultations with the Council of State.

However, the Chief Justice in her fact of case noted that the president’s purported prima facie determination contained no reasons or justification and was entirely devoid of the elements of judicial or quasi-judicial reasoning expected under the Constitution.

“It failed to meet the standard of a judicious and objective assessment and, as such, is arbitrary, capricious, and constitutionally infirm,” the statement added.

The Chief Justice seeks several reliefs in her statement of case.

They are “a declaration that upon a true and proper interpretation of articles 17(1) and (2), 19(13) and (14), 146(7) and (8), 281(1) and 295(1) of the Constitution, a Chief Justice has the right to a public hearing in proceedings before a committee appointed by the President to inquire into a petition presented for the removal of the Chief Justice.

CJ TORKORNOO V. AG -STATEMENT OF CASEDownload

The suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, has refuted the claims outlined in petitions calling for her removal. She has described them as baseless and untrue, adding that she has evidence to prove her innocence.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, June 25, she noted that the ongoing proceedings set a dangerous precedent for judges in the country, adding that it violates CI 47.

“The clear danger is that in light of flagrant violation of CI 47, the very rules the Committee claims to be using, and the darkness of the current proceedings being held in camera, my lawyers and I can come to the end of proceedings; the evidence will show that every allegation in the Petitions that were given to me by the President on 27th March 2025 is unfounded and untrue.”

She raised concerns about transparency concerning the venue for the hearings being conducted.

“It is clear that the choice of venue, against the background of the secrecy of proceedings, was intended to intimidate me and to prevent any citizen of Ghana from knowing how the proceedings are being conducted,” she added.

Justice Gertrude Torkornoo reiterated allegations of unconstitutionality with regard to the process of her removal, as well as infringement of her rights during the hearing by the committee set up by the president.

She expressed her displeasure over the use of the Adu Lodge during hearings as well as the alleged refusal of the committee to give her copies of the petitions presented to them by the President.

“There has never been a hearing for the removal of the Chief Justice. One would have therefore hoped that if such a process becomes necessary, it will provide good guidance and precedent for nation building.

Unfortunately, every step of the removal process being undertaken against me is being done in a manner that breaks every rule on how justice is delivered in our country

This is why I find the need to draw the nation’s attention to the serious violations of the constitution and law in the process and the danger it holds for the development of the nation’s democracy.”

    Background

On May 21, Justice Torkornoo filed an injunction application, which, among other things, questioned the constitutionality of the committee’s formation and the legality of her suspension announced in April.

The five-member committee includes Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang—Supreme Court Justice (Chairman), Justice Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu—Supreme Court Justice, Daniel Yaw Domelevo—Former Auditor-General Major Flora Bazwaanura Dalugo, Ghana Armed Forces Representative Prof. James Sefah Dzisah, and Associate Professor at the University of Ghana.Justice Torkornoo requested the apex court to bar Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Adib-Asiedu from sitting on the case, citing a conflict of interest.

She again argued that Justice Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu also served as a Supreme Court panel member who presided over a related injunction application.

The suspended Chief Justice also raised questions about the eligibility of the three remaining committee members, Daniel Yao Domelovo, Major Flora Bazwaanura Dalugo, and Prof. James Sefah Dzisah, under Articles 146 (1), (2), (4), 23, and 296 of the Constitution and sections of the Oaths Act, 1972.Article 23—This article guarantees administrative justice, stating that all administrative bodies and officials must act fairly and reasonably and comply with the law.

Article 296—This provision regulates the exercise of discretionary power by public officials, requiring them to act fairly, transparently, and without bias. It prevents arbitrary decision-making and ensures that discretion is exercised within legal limits.

Oaths Act, 1972—This law governs the oaths of office taken by public officials, ensuring they uphold their duties with integrity.

The Attorney-General, in response to Madam Torkonoo’s interlocutory injunction, also filed an affidavit on May 26, stating that there is no basis in law for the two Supreme Court judges to be restrained from participating in the petition probe.

The Supreme Court on May 28 dismissed a supplementary affidavit filed on May 26, where the suspended Chief Justice made allegations of rights abuse by the committee.

Justice Torkonoo alleged she was subjected to mental torture at the hearing. According to her, upon her arrival at the venue set for her hearing, she was made to go through a body search, her phones and laptops were collected, and her spouse and children were denied access to the room.

According to the apex court, the events referenced happened before the committee investigated the petitions for her removal — proceedings that, by law, are expected to be held in camera.

Making a case for the chair of the committee, Justice Pwamang, argued that his participation in cases put before the courts by one of the petitioners cannot constitute evidence of bias.

Regarding Justice Samuel Adibu Asiedu, the Attorney-General indicated that he did not participate in the injunction hearing and can therefore not be barred.

The Attorney-General further noted that members of the committee have all taken the necessary oath of office, contrary to claims by the Chief Justice.

So far, the Supreme Court has dismissed four suits filed against the petitions seeking the removal of the Chief Justice.

Justice Torkornoo was appointed as Ghana’s 15th Chief Justice in June 2023, succeeding Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah. Her appointment marked her as the third woman to serve in the role in Ghana’s history.

According to him, he has been in the United States for the past three months spending time with his family.

Additionally, he was signing deals with some major companies to lay the foundation for sustained relevance in his music career.

“As I said earlier, you can’t do it all by yourself. I can’t do all the distributions; to be on playlisting and stuff, you need to deal with these big companies and I was there for three good months with my lawyer going back and forth.”

In this regard, Kuami Eugene revealed that he has had the opportunity to meet major streaming platforms such as Audiomac, Ditto, among others.

“Because it’s just me now, everybody is looking at the numbers and how they can have a piece of it. Since I left Lynx, so many calls, people are like ‘you have numbers already you just have to do this and give us a cut’ so I have to spend three good months with my lawyer. We had a meeting with Audiomack, Ditto, and all these big platforms. We are trying to put me out there, so I was away for a while trying to put things together well,” Kuami Eugene stated.

The musician has confidently stated that the impact he has made through his music will not go down the drain because he departed from Lynx Entertainment.

He explained that the playtime his songs have alone would consistently make him relevant in the Ghanaian music industry.

The singer has revealed that he parted ways with Lynx Entertainment record label long before the release of his hit song ‘Monica.’

He made this known to Doreen Avio of Joy FM during an interview.

“I wasn’t the first person to put it out there that I left Lynx. Richie did that actually, so after he announced that I’ve left Lynx Entertainment on his account, I had a lot of calls, but people didn’t know from ‘Monica’ time, we were in talks for exits a long time ago.”

“When I had Monica playing, I was partially out of Lynx a long time, but I just didn’t want to come put it out there, and when I had Belinda, I was not even at Lynx at all.”

The event drew thousands of participants but came under public and legal scrutiny after photos and videos emerged showing attendees worshipping withoput face masks and seated in close proximity.

At the time, it was violating the state-imposed COVID-19 safety protocols.

The church’s action drew backlash from the public, with arguments that they were not only breaching the Imposition of Restrictions Act but also risked pushing the country into a third wave of COVID-19 infections.

Consequently, the church was charged for failing to comply with restriction contrary to Regulation 4 of E.I. 395 and Section 6 of the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012).

The church was in court for two years over the matter but emerged victorious.
