Okomofour Kwadee’s hair, nails were taken for rituals – Pope Skinny alleges

Ghanaian rapper Pope Skinny has made shocking claims about veteran musician Okomfour Kwadee, alleging that he was subjected to a ritual attack.

According to Pope Skinny, Kwadee recounted a harrowing experience in which he was abducted and taken to Titanic Beach at dawn, where he was stripped naked, photographed, and had parts of his nails and hair forcibly removed.

“Okomfour told me, ‘Skinny, I was in my room when they came for me. They took me to Titanic Beach at dawn, stripped me naked, and took pictures of me. They broke my nails and cut off a part of my hair. My hair and nails were then placed on top of a nightclub somewhere. It was a famous nightclub,’” Pope Skinny narrated.

He further compared Kwadee’s struggles to those of comedian Funny Face, who has also faced mental health challenges.

Kwadee, once a dominant figure in Ghanaian music, has battled mental health issues for years, reportedly linked to substance abuse. In 2020, former rapper-turned-pastor Lord Kenya took him to a rehabilitation center after a severe breakdown. However, in 2022, his mother revealed that he had been abandoned at the facility, pleading with the public for support.

Concerns about his well-being resurfaced in 2024 when a video of him looking frail while drinking pito and freestyling among friends circulated online.

The claims made by Pope Skinny have reignited discussions about Kwadee’s condition, though the musician himself has not publicly responded to the allegations.

GTDC CEO unveils 12 new tourism projects to boost industry growth

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Professor Kobby Mensah, has revealed plans to introduce 12 new tourism products and services aimed at revitalizing the sector and driving economic growth.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Professor Mensah emphasized the importance of creating innovative experiences to attract both local and international tourists.

“I have focused my attention on building products and services and also costing them, making projections for the next five years—that is what my team has been doing,” he said. “So far, we have created almost 12 products.”

Among the new initiatives is the introduction of Night Tours, which aligns with the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s 24-hour Economy concept. Professor Mensah believes this will provide a unique opportunity for Ghanaians to explore tourist sites after working hours, alleviating congestion during the day while promoting a vibrant nightlife.

“I don’t see why we cannot have night tours. The days are so choked in Accra. And I still do not understand why people close from work and rush home around 4 or 5 o’clock. We cannot force people to stay out after work, but we can encourage them by creating engaging programs,” he noted.

Additionally, GTDC is set to introduce the Tourist Incentive Voucher (TIV), a scheme designed to reward hardworking employees with vouchers for visiting various tourist attractions across the country. This initiative, according to Professor Mensah, will boost domestic tourism and incentivize more Ghanaians to explore their own country.

Other projects in the pipeline include the Science Park Tour and the Ghana Tourist Marketplace, which are expected to offer unique experiences to tourists while generating revenue to reinvest in the sector.

Professor Mensah assured the public that these initiatives are not only meant to support the 24-hour Economy but also to enhance the Black Star Experience, a broader tourism agenda aimed at positioning Ghana as a top destination in Africa.

The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), established in 1972, operates as a private limited liability company under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts. Its core mandate is to facilitate and promote sustainable tourism development in Ghana.

With these upcoming projects, the GTDC hopes to stimulate growth in the tourism sector, create employment opportunities, and enhance Ghana’s global appeal as a must-visit destination.

GTA CEO urges tour guides to uphold professionalism amid extortion claims

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has called on local tour guides to conduct themselves professionally to protect Ghana’s image following allegations of extortion.

Her remarks come after Ghanaian tourism ambassador and content creator Wode Maya shared a video online, alleging that a local tour guide in Jamestown, Accra, had demanded money from a tourist.

In response to the viral video, Maame Efua visited the area on Sunday to engage the tour guide in question, Daniel Addo, popularly known as Toucher, to understand the situation better.

Speaking during her visit, she emphasized the need for local guides to receive proper training to enhance their interactions with tourists.

“We all know that Ga Mashie has many tourist sites and attractions, and for that reason, we have local tour guides who have volunteered to offer their services. It is important we address this issue. We don’t want to fault them but rather guide them to do the right things. Since we are the regulators, it is important we initiate these steps to correct the wrongs at the grassroots of our tourism sector,” she said.

Meanwhile, Daniel Addo denied the extortion allegations, explaining that the tourist had voluntarily asked how much he needed to complete a midshaft structure he was working on. He insisted that he did not demand money in exchange for his services as a tour guide.

He further clarified that the usual tour fee in the area is GHC50, with proceeds used to support a local school and its volunteer teachers. He also took journalists around to showcase community initiatives undertaken with the funds, including the provision of a borehole and classroom furniture.

Deputy GTA CEO, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, also urged tour guides to maintain professionalism and ensure tourists receive accurate information about the sites they visit. He hinted at upcoming plans by the GTA to equip local guides with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.

The GTA’s intervention aims to strengthen ethical standards in the tourism sector while addressing concerns raised about the conduct of local tour guides.

Efia Odo kneels in Agradaa’s church to apologize over ‘money ritual’ comment

Ghanaian socialite and musician Efia Odo has publicly apologized to Evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Agradaa, for comments she made about her in the past.

On Sunday, March 9, 2025, Efia Odo visited Agradaa’s Heaven Way Church to say sorry in person. During the church service, she stood before the congregation with two elderly women and explained why she had come.

She admitted that during a 2024 discussion on the Rants, Bants, and Confessions podcast with Counsellor Lutterodt and social media influencers Princess Ama Burland and Gisela Amponsah, she said things about Agradaa that were not true.

Efia Odo clarified that she mistakenly claimed Agradaa was involved in money rituals when she was a priestess, instead of her well-known Sika Gari scheme. Realizing her mistake, she decided to apologize publicly.

Kneeling before Agradaa, Efia Odo asked for forgiveness. In response, Agradaa accepted the apology and hugged her, drawing cheers from the congregation and her husband, Angel Asiamah.

The evangelist praised Efia Odo for taking responsibility and encouraged her church members to applaud the socialite for her humility. The two later celebrated by dancing together as the church’s live band played music.

I have 2 houses at age 25 because my parents made good financial decisions – Maame Serwaa

Ghanaian actress Clara Benson, popularly known as Maame Serwaa, has revealed that she owns two houses at just 25 years old, attributing her financial stability to the smart decisions made by her parents.

In an exclusive interview with Ola Michael on Neat FM, the Kumawood star expressed gratitude to her father and late mother for managing her earnings wisely from the early days of her acting career.

“What helped me was that my parents made good financial decisions for me. I had a lot of gigs. As a child actor, if you don’t have parents who are forward thinkers and don’t save for you, you’ll end up broke,” she explained.

She further stated that her parents foresaw a time when she might step away from acting and ensured she had financial security.

“My parents thought that it would get to a time where I would decide not to do acting again,” she added.

Speaking about her assets, Maame Serwaa disclosed that she owns two houses, with the first one fully completed while the second is still under construction.

“I am very appreciative of my parents for saving for me. I have two houses now. The first one is complete, but we are still working on the second house,” she said.

The actress also acknowledged the impact of acting on her life, emphasizing that the industry has opened many doors for her.

“Acting has helped me. If I were not an actress, nobody would recognize me when I go out. I get lots of privileges and advantages that most ladies my age don’t,” she noted.

My wife was nicer to me than I expected – Sarkodie on Yvonne Nelson’s ‘exposé’

Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has opened up about how his wife, Tracy Owusu-Addo, supported him after actress Yvonne Nelson publicly detailed their past affair.

In 2023, Yvonne Nelson published her memoir, I Am Not Yvonne Nelson, in which she alleged that Sarkodie mistreated her during their relationship, which resulted in an unwanted pregnancy. She further claimed that he abandoned her when she had to undergo an abortion.

However, speaking on the Way Up podcast, shared on X on March 9, 2025, Sarkodie disclosed that his wife was more concerned about his well-being than the social media backlash.

“To be honest, I don’t want to speak about that, but she handled it in a way I didn’t expect. She was cool and cared more about how I was feeling. She kept checking on me because I was on tour, and that was her main concern,” he said.

Explaining why he never publicly responded to the allegations, Sarkodie said he only addresses matters that impact his career positively.

“The reason I don’t speak is that I believe nobody is worth my response, which has always been my stance. If it’s something that benefits me, I’ll respond.

“But most of the time, the people talking about Sarkodie are not worth my response. I ask myself, ‘Is it worth going back and forth with these people?’” he added.

Mahama doesn’t need your opinion to appoint head of NFA – Halifax Addo to opposers

Media personality and entertainment pundit Halifax Ansah Addo has strongly criticized a section of the creative arts industry for opposing the appointments of Kafui Danku and James Gardiner to lead the Ghana Film Authority (GFA).

Addressing the issue on United Showbiz on March 8, 2025, Halifax asserted that President John Dramani Mahama does not require industry approval to make such appointments.

He described the opposition from the group calling itself the ‘Association of Ghanaian Creatives’ as an embarrassment to the sector, citing internal divisions and inconsistencies in their petition.

“The president doesn’t need your opinion to appoint the head of the National Film Authority. You have the right to say whatever you want, but let him have his way,” he stated.

Halifax pointed out that some creatives whose names appeared on the petition later distanced themselves from it, exposing a lack of coordination within the group.

“The way they went about the whole issue, I think they have discredited themselves. They all came together to oppose the appointments, yet some of them are now saying they didn’t authorize their names to be added. I think we are our own problem in this industry. I would be surprised and disappointed if the president changes his mind,” he remarked.

He further defended the appointments, highlighting that both Kafui Danku and James Gardiner have significantly contributed to the creative arts industry, even during difficult periods when the Ghanaian film industry struggled.

“I don’t see how they would fail, especially when working with a board of experts. We had times when people were not producing in this country, yet Kafui was still putting in the work,” he added.

Halifax maintained that the president’s decision should be respected and urged industry players to focus on supporting the new leadership rather than attempting to undermine it.

How I wasted my first hit money due to excitement – Davido recounts

Nigerian music sensation Davido has opened up about one of his biggest financial missteps, revealing how excitement over his first major deal led him to squander his earnings in a single day.

Speaking on the Drink Champs podcast, the Afrobeats star recalled how years of struggling in makeshift studios finally paid off when he landed a record deal. However, instead of carefully planning his finances, he went on a wild spending spree.

“I got my deal, and the money came. I was like, ‘Yo, we lit!’” Davido admitted. “That same day, I took all my boys shopping. We went crazy. We spent it all.”

It wasn’t until later that he realized the money he had blown wasn’t just his—it was actually part of his album budget.

“I called my people like, ‘Yo, when are we starting the album?’ They told me, ‘Bro, you spent your budget,’” he recounted. “That was my first reality check.”

The hard lesson reshaped Davido’s approach to finances, teaching him that signing a record deal wasn’t just about receiving a big paycheck but managing an investment in his career.

“Success isn’t just about making music—it’s about making smart financial decisions,” he reflected.

Since then, Davido has built a powerhouse brand, proving that even costly mistakes can turn into valuable lessons in the long run.

In an effort to curb the rising financial burden of lavish wedding ceremonies, the Chief Imam of the Bole Traditional Area, Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu, has announced a ban on extravagant Islamic weddings within his jurisdiction.

The directive, which takes effect from March 5, 2025, was outlined in an official statement signed by the Chief Imam.

“I am grateful to inform your esteemed office that I, the Chief Imam (Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu) of Bole Traditional Area, after several council meetings with the Islamic clergy, wish to put a ban on extravagant Islamic weddings within my jurisdiction which do not conform to Islamic practices, starting on Wednesday, March 5, 2025,” the statement read.

According to the Chief Imam, the decision seeks to promote modest and affordable weddings that align with Islamic teachings, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent young people from getting married.

I became born again on my way to the club – Brian Amoateng

The Convener of the International Youth Empowerment Summit and Founder of Brian Amoateng Ministries, Pastor Brian Amoateng, has shared a remarkable testimony about how he surrendered his life to Christ while on his way to a nightclub.

Speaking on Changes with Joy Prime’s Lois Shola Adeyemi, Pastor Amoateng recounted how his deep-seated clubbing habit came to an unexpected halt after a divine encounter in a taxi.

“Being a church boy, always in church, I knew what church was. So, I remember when I got to Legon, I used to club a lot—almost every day, from Monday to Tuesday. One day, I was going to a nightclub, and I was in a taxi when the driver started playing a gospel song. Something entered me, and I felt like crying, but I still wanted to go to the club just to please my friends,” he revealed.

He explained that despite his reluctance, the song stirred something deep within him, making him uneasy by the time he arrived at the club.

“That night, when I got to the club, I couldn’t dance. Being the ‘Chingy’ that people knew, I didn’t open the dance floor. I got to the club, and something told me to go home. I felt so down. Normally, I would leave the club at 5 a.m. every day, but that day, I left by 2:30 or 3 a.m.,” he recalled.

Upon returning to his hostel, he broke down in tears, realizing that he had been missing something invaluable—Jesus Christ. That defining moment led him to make a life-changing decision: to dedicate himself fully to ministry and leave his old lifestyle behind.

Pastor Amoateng admitted that, as a pastor’s son, he had struggled with living a double life—balancing church obligations with his everyday routine. However, he eventually embraced his true purpose.

Reflecting on his journey, he highlighted how God speaks to people in various ways and urged young individuals to remain attentive to divine messages.

“A lot of people think that God’s voice has to be a deep, bass voice, but sometimes God speaks in mysterious ways. It can come as a still, small voice within you. You can go to church, and the message the preacher delivers might be God speaking to you,” he emphasized.

Encouraging young people to seek spiritual guidance, he advised them to join a Bible-believing church that can nurture their faith.

“God speaks in so many ways. We should not follow, for instance, the Nollywood style that portrays God’s voice as always being a deep, bass voice,” Pastor Amoateng reiterated.

His testimony serves as an inspiration to those struggling with conflicting lifestyles, proving that a single moment can transform one’s entire path.

Ghanaians need money, not GHS10 data – Shatta Wale to Sam George

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has criticized Communications Minister Sam George over the recently introduced Independence Day data bundle package, arguing that Ghanaians need financial empowerment rather than subsidized internet access.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, the musician stated that free data will not alleviate the economic struggles of citizens.

Instead, he urged the government to prioritize initiatives that would improve livelihoods and create sustainable income opportunities.

“This is not what Ghanaians need, massa. You think this is what will keep you in power? You didn’t even consider giving every Ghanaian GHS1,000, but soon, you’ll be making plans to acquire properties abroad. Next joke, please! Let’s be serious in this country… Our people need money, money, money,” he said.

His reaction follows Sam George’s announcement on Independence Day that telecom providers had been directed to roll out special data packages for citizens.

MTN, Telecel, and AT Ghana subsequently offered 6GB of data for GHS10, an upgrade from the usual 1GB or 3GB holiday offers at the same price.

While some welcomed the initiative, others, including Shatta Wale, dismissed it as an ineffective response to Ghana’s economic difficulties. He maintained that policymakers should focus on implementing long-term solutions that address financial hardships rather than short-term relief measures.

  • Charterhouse was established for creatives who detest 9-to-5 jobs – CEO

Charterhouse was established for creatives who detest 9-to-5 jobs – CEO

CEO of Charterhouse, Theresa Ayoade, has revealed that the company was founded to create opportunities for individuals who do not fit into the traditional 9-to-5 work structure.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, as reported by MyNewsGh, she highlighted the importance of fostering creativity within Ghana’s entertainment industry and providing the right environment for talented individuals to thrive.

“Some people are just not made for the typical 9-to-5 job. They need space to express themselves creatively, and that’s what we have tried to create at Charterhouse,” she stated.

Theresa, who co-founded Charterhouse with her husband, explained that their vision was to establish an institution that nurtures creative minds and fuels innovation within the entertainment space. This vision, she said, was what led to the birth of the Ghana Music Awards Festival.

“When we started Charterhouse, we wanted to create something big and exciting. That’s why we launched the Ghana Music Awards, which has now grown into a major festival,” she recounted.

Reflecting on Ghana’s evolving entertainment landscape, she acknowledged progress but stressed that there is still room for improvement. She recalled the impact of past promotional campaigns, such as Joy FM’s ‘Get a Life’ initiative, which offered life-changing prizes like fully furnished homes and cars.

“In the past, we had radio promotions that kept people glued to their sets. For example, when I worked at Joy FM, we ran a promotion called ‘Get a Life,’ where a listener could win a fully furnished house and a car just by participating in a quiz. Those were life-changing promotions,” she recalled.

However, she noted that such grand-scale initiatives have become rare in recent years. “I don’t know if it’s the economy or just a shift in priorities, but we don’t see many of these big promotions anymore. I think we need to be more imaginative and think bigger,” she urged.

As a key player in Ghana’s entertainment space, Theresa Ayoade emphasized the need for stakeholders to continue pushing boundaries and creating platforms that support talent, ensuring that creatives can contribute meaningfully to the industry’s growth.

  • My TikTok live session with Peller was unplanned – Stonebwoy tells critics

My TikTok live session with Peller was unplanned – Stonebwoy tells critics

Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent TikTok Live session with Nigerian influencer Peller, stating that the interaction was completely unplanned.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast, Stonebwoy expressed disappointment over how a lighthearted moment quickly turned into an issue of public scrutiny, particularly among some Ghanaians.

He explained that while engaging with fans on TikTok Live, Peller unexpectedly joined the session. Initially, he was unaware of who the influencer was and even declined the request twice before finally accepting.

“I didn’t even recognize the name at first. I declined twice before finally accepting. Then we started vibing. I saw an opportunity to turn it into a promotional moment, so I joked about flying him to London,” Stonebwoy revealed.

What was meant to be a fun and engaging interaction, however, soon became a topic of criticism, with some Ghanaians questioning his decision to engage with Peller.

Stonebwoy lamented that instead of capitalizing on positive moments, his team often finds itself having to defend such interactions, which ultimately affects their impact.

“Instead of riding on the positive energy, we now have to defend ourselves. And by the time that’s done, the momentum is lost,” he stated.

He further noted that this was not the first time he had faced such negativity from Ghanaians. He recalled a similar incident at the Grammys, where he introduced himself to a global star but was mocked by some Ghanaians instead of being celebrated for making an important connection.

Stonebwoy called for a shift in mindset, urging Ghanaians to support their own rather than pull them down.

“It’s interesting how the negative narrative always becomes more popular. That’s the sad part. We should be elevating our own people, not dragging them down,” he emphasized.

He encouraged Ghanaians to rally behind their artists, stressing that every achievement by a Ghanaian musician contributes to the growth of the entire industry and the nation.

“We should be supportive of our own. When we win, Ghana wins,” he added.

Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has urged Ghanaians to support their own rather than tearing them down, expressing frustration over the negativity he often faces on social media.

Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast, the award-winning musician described it as “heartbreaking” that positive moments are often overshadowed by criticism.

“It’s interesting how the negative narrative always becomes more popular. That’s the sad part. We should be elevating our own people, not dragging them down,” he emphasized.

His remarks were in response to backlash he received over a recent TikTok Live session with Nigerian influencer Peller. Stonebwoy explained that the interaction was unplanned and was simply a fun moment with fans.

“I didn’t even recognize the name at first. I declined twice before finally accepting. Then we started vibing. I saw an opportunity to turn it into a promotional moment, so I joked about flying him to London,” he said.

However, what was intended to be lighthearted quickly turned into controversy, with some Ghanaians criticizing him online.

“Instead of riding on the positive energy, we now have to defend ourselves. And by the time that’s done, the momentum is lost,” he lamented.

This is not the first time Stonebwoy has faced such criticism. He recalled a similar situation at the Grammys when he introduced himself to a global star, only to be ridiculed by some Ghanaians instead of being praised for making an important connection.

Stonebwoy called for a change in mindset, stressing that supporting Ghanaian artists benefits the entire industry and the country.

  • If you offer yourself to Ghanaians, they will show you how to live your life – Ohemaa Woyeje

If you offer yourself to Ghanaians, they will show you how to live your life – Ohemaa Woyeje

Ghanaian media personality Ohemaa Woyeje has cautioned against exposing one’s personal life to public scrutiny, emphasizing that Ghanaians are quick to dictate how others should live.

Speaking in an interview with Emelia Brobbey on March 8, 2025, she explained why she keeps her marital affairs private, stating that once people make their personal lives accessible to the public, they lose control over their own decisions.

“Ghanaians like to talk. If you offer yourself to them, they will show you how to live your life,” she said.

Ohemaa Woyeje pointed out that many celebrities fall into the trap of oversharing their relationships online, only to face harsh criticism and unsolicited advice when things do not go as expected.

According to her, she has deliberately chosen to shield her marriage from public scrutiny, learning from past experiences, including her own mother’s marital journey.

“When I was getting married, I didn’t seek advice from Ghanaians, so if I am to divorce, there is no need to solicit advice from them,” she asserted.

She added that no matter the challenges in her marriage, she sees no reason to turn to social media for validation or public opinions.

“I have two children with my husband, so even if I get divorced today, there is no reason for me to come online and talk negatively about my husband. That doesn’t mean we have a perfect marriage. It just means you are not welcome into issues surrounding my marriage,” she noted.

Ohemaa Woyeje’s comments highlight the growing concerns among public figures about the impact of social media on personal relationships and the need to establish boundaries between private life and public perception.

  • He wants other men to want his woman – Amber Rose on why Kanye’s lover dreses in revealing clothes

He wants other men to want his woman – Amber Rose on why Kanye’s lover dreses in revealing clothes

Amber Rose, a former girlfriend of rapper and fashion mogul Kanye West, has offered an insight into why Kanye West dresses his partners in revealing outfits.

Speaking on the matter, Rose claimed that West deliberately styles his lovers in bold and provocative fashion choices because he enjoys the attention they receive from other men.

“He wants other men to want his woman. That’s what he’s into, he likes that. He likes that men are drooling over his woman. That’s what he’s into,” she stated.

Amber said: ‘Kanye is for sure dressing her like that. Yeah, he did the same thing to me and Kim. It’s just who he is.

‘He wants other men to want his woman. That’s what he’s into, he likes that. He likes that men are drooling over his woman. That’s what he’s into.’

‘He wants all his friends to want to f*** his girlfriend. He wants everybody to know that when you walk in a room, that his girlfriend or wife is the most desirable.’

Sharpe then asked: ‘And you dressed like that because that’s what he wanted, you wanted to please your man?’

‘I was young and I’m gonna tell Kanye now, when I’m that young it’s like okay, you’re buying me this stuff, I do look pretty and cool.’, she answered.

‘But if you look at old pictures of me when I’m dating Kanye but I’m out by myself, I have all his clothes on.’

‘I have baggy jeans on, a T-shirt, a big jacket. I raided his closet when he wasn’t home. I would wear all his stuff because I used to hate to dress like a w****.’

‘I used to hate it so I used to rebel when he wasn’t home and go in his closet. I’m in sweatpants usually with some Jordans on, maybe a little dad hat or something. I’m very casual.’

Kanye West, known for his influence in fashion, has often played a significant role in shaping the wardrobes of the women he dates, including his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and current partner Bianca Censori.

His preference for eye-catching and sometimes controversial outfits has sparked discussions about his views on fashion and relationships.

Amber Rose, who dated West from 2008 to 2010, has previously spoken about their relationship and the rapper’s impact on her life.

Her latest remarks add to the ongoing conversation about West’s influence over his partners’ public image.

Amber Rose, an ex-girlfriend of Kanye West, has revealed the real reason he ‘dresses his girlfriends’ in revealing outfits, opening up on their past relationship in a recent interview.

Amber Rose and Kanye West dated from 2008 until 2010 when things began to go south.

The 41-year-old model has previously accused Kanye, 47, of calling her a ‘prostitute’ and bullying her.

This time with Shannon Sharpe on his ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, Rose opened up on what it felt like to be in a relationship with Kanye and how he always has an impact on the way his partner dresses.

During the interview, Amber was asked about her thoughts on how Kanye’s wife Bianca Censori has portrayed herself in outfits after their 2025 Grammys red carpet stunt.

Shannon then referenced a see-through style dress Amber once wore while she was in a relationship with Kanye and asked how that came about.

‘Yes, I did. I cried. I remember crying,’ she candidly recalled, ‘I was in like Italy or Paris or something and I remember crying and arguing with him and being like I don’t f****** want to wear this s***, I don’t wanna wear it.’

‘[He said] You don’t understand, it’s fashion, I’m a genius. ‘It’s like, okay, I still don’t wanna wear it but I went in wearing it, they ate me up on the internet.’

Amber added that choosing a similar outfit wouldn’t be the case today and this is not the first time the model has weighed in on this subject.

In March 2024, she revealed that Kanye wanted her to ‘dress very sexy’ during their two-year relationship, though she was ‘conservative’ at a young age.

On the Just B With Bethenny Frankel podcast, Amber Rose said: “I am conservative, actually. I have always been conservative since I was young.”

She further stated that dating Ye transformed her into a “sexpot type of girl.”

It was reportedly Amber Rose’s first high-profile relationship, and she said Kanye West, who is known for his fashion sense, encouraged her to dress “very sexy.”

Although those clothes didn’t reflect her true self, Amber went along with it at the time as she was 24, while West was in his early 30s.

Rose also revealed that the “sexy” image stuck with her after their breakup, adding that industry figures pushed for that persona, asking her to do bikini-clad shoots. “I’m so not her”, she said.

Kanye West is yet to respond to Amber Rose’s claims, yet many have stood behind the model on social media, believing the rapper could be why his partners “reveal too much of their skin.”

  • I became born again through a gospel song played in a taxi – Brian Amoateng

I became born again through a gospel song played in a taxi – Brian Amoateng

Pastor Brian Amoateng, the Convener of the International Youth Empowerment Summit and Founder of Brian Amoateng Ministries, has shared how a single gospel song transformed his life, leading him to embrace Christianity fully.

Recounting his journey on Joy Prime’s Changes show with Lois Shola Adeyemi, Pastor Amoateng revealed that he once lived a clubbing lifestyle, despite being raised in a Christian home.

However, a life-altering moment came when he heard a gospel song while taking a taxi to a nightclub.

“Being a church boy, always in church, I knew what church was. So, I remember when I got to Legon, I used to club a lot—almost every day, from Monday to Tuesday. One day, I was going to a nightclub, and I was in a taxi when the driver started playing a gospel song. Something entered me, and I felt like crying, but I still wanted to go to the club just to please my friends,” he recalled.

That night, upon arriving at the club, he realized something had changed within him. The joy he once found in partying had vanished, and for the first time, he felt out of place.

“Being the ‘Chingy’ that people knew, I didn’t open the dance floor. I got to the club, and something told me to go home. I felt so down. Normally, I would leave the club at 5 a.m. every day, but that day, I left by 2:30 or 3 a.m.,” he recounted.

Overcome with emotion, he returned to his hostel and broke down in tears, feeling an undeniable loss—one he soon recognized as the absence of Jesus Christ in his life. That night marked a turning point, and he resolved to rededicate himself to God’s work, leaving his old ways behind.

Pastor Amoateng acknowledged that he had been living a double life, torn between church and worldly pleasures. However, through this experience, he understood that God communicates in various ways and that divine encounters do not always come in dramatic forms.

“A lot of people think that God’s voice has to be a deep, bass voice, but sometimes God speaks in mysterious ways. It can come as a still, small voice within you. You can go to church, and the message the preacher delivers might be God speaking to you,” he explained.

He encouraged young people to seek spiritual guidance from Bible-believing churches and to remain open to God’s voice, which can manifest in unexpected ways.

“God speaks in so many ways. We should not follow, for instance, the Nollywood style that portrays God’s voice as always being a deep, bass voice,” he added.

Pastor Amoateng’s story serves as a testimony of transformation, highlighting how a simple moment can lead to a profound spiritual awakening.

  • EOCO and UK’s NCA initiate fraud awareness campaign targeting romance scams

EOCO and UK’s NCA initiate fraud awareness campaign targeting romance scams

EOCO and the UK’s NCA have launched a campaign to fight online romance scams in Ghana.

The goal is to educate people about these scams, where fraudsters trick victims into fake online relationships to steal money.

As part of the effort, EOCO and NCA will share information, work together to track down fraudsters, and encourage the public to report such crimes.

The campaign will use posters, social media, and community programs to spread awareness.

To report a scam, the public can call 0547-419-419 or 0800-910-910.

    Collective Action

The NCA’s International Liaison Officer, Dominic Cummins, has raised concerns about the increasing threat of fraud and the need for countries to work together to fight it.

“Fraud accounts for over 40 percent of crimes in the UK, making it a key priority for the UK government to tackle both domestically and internationally,” he stated.

Mr. Cummins explained that scammers use clever tricks to target vulnerable people, often leaving them in serious financial and emotional distress. Since these crimes happen online, fraudsters can operate from anywhere in the world while staying hidden, making it essential for different countries to work together to catch and punish them.

He also stressed that the partnership between the NCA and EOCO has been vital in fighting organised crime that affects both Ghana and the UK.

    Implications

The Deputy Director of Legal and Prosecutions at EOCO, Anthony Leo Siamah, has highlighted the serious effects of romance scams, pointing out both the legal consequences and ongoing efforts to stop them.

“Romance fraud not only drains victims of their hard-earned money but also causes emotional and psychological distress,” he said.

He cautioned that these scams are damaging Ghana’s reputation, as fraudsters use online platforms to deceive people, often targeting victims in other countries.

Mr. Siamah explained that with more people using the internet and mobile money, scammers have found new ways to operate, making it harder to catch and punish them.

However, he is confident that EOCO’s partnership with the NCA will strengthen investigations, improve international cooperation, educate the public, and introduce new regulations to crack down on romance scams.

Discussions made at National Economic Dialogue was business as usual – Kabiru Tiah Mahama

NPP Member of Parliament for Walewale, Abdul Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has dismissed the just-ended National Economic Dialogue as lacking fresh solutions to Ghana’s economic challenges.

According to him, while the government has promised to provide further details from the discussions, nothing presented so far stands out as innovative or groundbreaking.

“Admittedly, they mentioned that the fine details will be presented to the President, and probably the good people of Ghana will get to read them. But like you said, you took the words right out of my mouth—not even one single thing from the dialogue sounded strikingly new. Not even one,” he remarked on JoyNews’ Newsfile.

His concerns echo broader skepticism about the impact of the dialogue, with some, including political activist Arthur Kennedy, questioning whether the event will lead to real policy shifts or remain a routine political exercise.

Meanwhile, IMANI Africa’s Vice President, Kofi Bentil, has called for a more structured approach to ensure the dialogue delivers meaningful results.

“It is always good to discuss issues, to dialogue, to widen the net, and bring ideas beyond just your political party. So to that extent, it is a very useful exercise. It helps avoid the echo chamber effect,” he stated on Saturday, March 8.

However, he cautioned that without a clear focus and action-driven strategies, the event risks becoming yet another talk shop with no concrete outcomes.

NDC’s Baasongti loses legal battle over Techiman South election results

The Techiman High Court has thrown out a case filed by Christopher Beyere Baasongti, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Techiman South in the 2024 elections, against Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah of the NPP.

Baasongti went to court on January 27, 2025, to challenge the election results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) and officially confirmed on January 7, 2025.

However, just days later, on January 31, 2025, Mensah Korsah’s lawyer, Gary Nimako Marfo, filed a request to have the case dismissed.

The MP’s legal team argued that Baasongti had not followed the required legal process by failing to pay security for costs within 21 days after the EC’s announcement.

This, they said, made the petition invalid under Ghana’s electoral laws.

After hearing arguments on February 17, 2025, the court sided with Mensah Korsah, ruling that Baasongti’s case was not properly filed and could not proceed.

With this decision, Adjei Mensah Korsah remains the legally recognized Member of Parliament for Techiman South.

Pay us for work done during 2024 elections – Contract workers to EC

Contract workers hired by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Greater Accra Region for the 2024 general elections are still waiting to be paid months after completing their duties.

According to the workers, they were promised GHC600 for their roles in the electoral process but have yet to receive their money despite several follow-ups.

One affected worker, speaking to Citi News on March 7 under anonymity, expressed frustration over the delay.

“I texted some of the officials, but there was no reply. They said the payment would come, but it didn’t. Others also followed up, yet nothing happened. If the EC knows we have not been paid, then it’s really bad because you cannot hire someone, let them work for you, and then not pay them while you sit comfortably.”

The worker further urged the EC to settle the outstanding payments promptly.

“For any job, when you employ someone, you need to pay them immediately after the work is done. I’m just appealing to the EC to resolve this issue as soon as possible so that no one has to keep complaining because a lot of people are affected.”

Those affected include presiding officers, verification officers, name list reference officers, and ballot issuers. They have expressed disappointment over the EC’s silence on the matter and are calling on the authorities to address their concerns urgently.

Full details: Illegal mining spree on Manhyia-linked concession

It remains to be seen what steps the government will take after the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, publicly lamented that illegal miners had overrun a gold prospecting concession belonging to him.

He revealed that unauthorized mining was taking place on the concession without his knowledge, raising serious questions about who is responsible for the environmental destruction from the illegal mining operations, which have devastated the banks of the Tano River.

“I have heard that the concession Ayisi [former chief executive of the Minerals Commission] granted me has been overrun by illegal (galamsey) miners. But I don’t even know the place,” he said on February 14, 2025, when the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, visited him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

“The concession was given to me, and I intended to develop it, only to hear that illegal miners had taken over,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu said. “If I am accused of engaging in galamsey as a traditional ruler, what can I say when I do not even know where the place is?”

His remarks have brought The Fourth Estate’s scrutiny to Bodukwan Holding Company Limited, the entity holding the concession, and its links to the Manhyia Palace.

Investigations by The Fourth Estate suggest that despite having only a prospecting license, extensive mining has taken place on the concession, raising legal and environmental concerns.

Bodukwan Holding Company Limited applied for a prospecting license on June 2, 2023, to explore for gold in Moseaso, Odumase in the Western Region. Six months later, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources approved the request, granting the company three years to conduct exploration over an area the size of 250 football pitches. A significant portion of this concession overlaps with the Tano River, a key water source for communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

Prospecting licenses allow companies to conduct preliminary exploration but do not permit mining activities. Yet, satellite imagery reviewed by The Fourth Estate reveals widespread mining on the concession – evidence that illegal operations are taking place on the concession.

    Environmental Degradation and Legal Violations

Ghana’s mining laws prohibit activities that degrade the environment, particularly near water bodies. While the law does not explicitly require a 100-meter buffer zone, both the Minerals Commission and Water Resources Commission have advised that mining should not take place within this range to prevent pollution.

In 2021, the government declared riverbanks no-go areas for mining, a directive emphasized by then-President Nana Akufo-Addo and former Lands Minister Samuel Jinapor.

Despite these restrictions, The Fourth Estate found that Bodukwan Holding lacks key regulatory approvals, including an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) permit and a Water Use Permit from the Water Resources Commission (WRC). The Minerals Commission has also refused to provide a list of companies with operating permits, making it difficult to verify Bodukwan’s compliance status.

    Who Owns Bodukwan Holding?

Incorporation records from the Office of the Registrar of Companies show that Bodukwan Holding is closely linked to Manhyia Palace.

The company’s beneficial owner, Nana Duah Bonsu, serves as a co-director alongside Mujeeb Rahman Ahmed, a lawyer for Manhyia Palace, and Julia Ama Adwapa Amaning, widely known as Lady Julia, the wife of the Asantehene.

Beyond its mining interests, Bodukwan Holding is also the parent company of the Bodukwan Multifruit Processing Factory, which processes mangoes from its farms in the Nkoranza North District.

When contacted, Mujeeb Rahman Ahmed denied any involvement in illegal mining. He insisted that Bodukwan Holding had not begun operations at its site near Bibiani, let alone engaged in mining.

This was before the Asantehene’s recent public remarks about the invasion of illegal miners on the concession.

“If anyone is there, we need to deal with them,” Mr. Rahman told The Fourth Estate. “We have no knowledge of any such activity. If someone is mining in our name, it is wrong. We are not aware of it.”

    Who Could Be Responsible?

Environmental activists argue that once a company obtains a concession, it is legally responsible for protecting it from illegal mining.

Kwaku Afriyie, Technical Director of WACAM, an environmental advocacy group, maintains that if mining is taking place on a concession with only a prospecting lease, then the company is in breach of the law.

He stressed that companies are required to report illegal activities to the Minerals Commission and security agencies and are responsible for securing their own land.

Under Article 18 of the Constitution, Mr. Afriyie noted, every individual has the right to protect their property.

He also pointed out that if a company remains silent while its land is used for illegal mining, it raises questions about whether it is benefiting from the activity or is simply being negligent.

His concerns were echoed by Sandow Ali, Director of Mining at the EPA, who emphasized that companies cannot operate without securing four essential permits: a license from the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, an EPA permit, an operating permit from the Minerals Commission, and a water use permit from the Water Resources Commission.

He made it clear that obtaining a ministerial license alone does not grant the right to begin mining and that any activity without the full set of approvals is illegal.

    Will the Government Intervene?

With clear evidence of mining activity on Bodukwan’s concession and a lack of regulatory compliance, the question remains: will the government take action?

The Asantehene’s frustration highlights the broader challenge of illegal mining in a country where even high-profile concessions are not spared from galamsey operations.

AAMUSTED cites infrastructure deficit for low admission

The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has raised concerns about a lack of infrastructure, which has made it difficult to admit more students.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo revealed that out of 20,280 applications received for the 2025-2026 academic year, the university was only able to admit 13,066 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

More than half (51%) of the admitted students are female, marking an increase in female enrollment compared to last year.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony in Kumasi, Prof. Sarfo said with government support and assistance from corporate organizations, the university could admit more students, especially to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“The university remains committed to adding to its resources annually to increase the number of admissions every year. We can assure you that the number will increase next year,” he said.

He also encouraged students to apply for financial aid from sources such as the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the Scholarship Secretariat, and local assemblies to help cover their educational expenses.

Additionally, he advised them to stay focused on their studies, develop a positive mindset, and avoid procrastination.

‘Next time you’ll sit on a kitchen stool!’ – A Plus mocks ex-state’s man

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has taken a swipe at a former government official who once wielded significant influence but has now seen a drastic shift in status.

In a social media post, A Plus recounted how the unnamed individual used to be chauffeured in an official Toyota Land Cruiser, with a separate vehicle assigned solely to transport his special chair. He noted that the official carried himself with an air of superiority, expecting even traditional rulers to rise in his presence.

However, at Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration, the same individual was spotted sitting on an ordinary chair. To emphasize the change in fortune, A Plus pointed out that when Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, a woman, arrived at the event, the former official stood up to greet her—a stark contrast to his past demeanor.

“Not long ago, a certain man moved around with an official Toyota Land Cruiser, specially designated to carry his special chair. He believed his position was so mighty that even chiefs had to stand up to greet him.

“Fast forward a few months, the same man was spotted at Ghana’s 68th Independence Celebration, this time, sitting on an ordinary chair. And when the Vice President, a woman, arrived, he stood up to greet her.

“Life has a way of humbling us. Power is not permanent. Tomorrow always comes! Next time you’ll sit on a kitchen stool!” he said.

His comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing that power is fleeting and others accusing him of being unnecessarily harsh.

A Plus, known for his blunt and often controversial political commentary, has consistently criticized politicians and public figures he believes misuse power. His latest remarks appear to be a lesson on humility and the transient nature of political influence.

While he did not mention the official by name, It may be recalled that former President Akufo-Addo was previously accused by the then-opposition of transporting his presidential chair in a V8 vehicle for events.

During his tenure, he also sparked controversy after ordering certain chiefs to stand before greeting him at an official function.

However, at Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration at the Jubilee House, he was seen seated on a chair provided for the event.

Great Ampong composes apology song dedicated to John Mahama

Renowned gospel musician Isaac Kwadwo Ampong, popularly known as Great Ampong, has expressed his willingness to personally apologize to former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking in an interview on Property FM, Ampong revealed that although he recently released a song titled Apology, he is prepared to take an extra step by seeking Mahama’s forgiveness in person if the opportunity presents itself.

“I know President Mahama would hear my apology song, but if there is an opportunity to meet him and ask for forgiveness, I would do so,” he stated, as reported by MyNewsGh.com.

Ampong acknowledged that gaining access to the former president requires protocol, emphasizing that one cannot simply walk into the Jubilee House unannounced.

“To go to him at the Jubilee House, you’ll need someone to lead you before you can be allowed. Otherwise, if you rush there, it wouldn’t be a wise thing to do,” he noted.

He also recalled how dancehall artiste Shatta Wale publicly apologized to Mahama before the 2024 elections and stated that he would not hesitate to do the same if given the chance.

“If the Lord permits and there is a chance, I won’t have a problem apologizing to Mahama one-on-one because Shatta Wale also did the same,” he added.

“Even if it means kneeling down to beg President Mahama, I would do it because I won’t be the first person to ask him for forgiveness.”

Ampong’s statement suggests a shift in his stance, signaling his readiness to mend any past misunderstandings with the former president.

According to Bishop Obinim, Mahama’s decision to name Abeiku Santana as the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority will bring immense wealth to the broadcaster, surpassing all he has acquired throughout his career.

The controversial pastor further revealed that James Gardiner, who has also been given a government appointment, would experience a similar transformation in his financial status.

We are exporting 300megawatts of power – Energy Minister

Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor has revealed that Ghana is currently exporting electricity to neighboring countries, dismissing concerns about inadequate power supply.

“As we speak, we’re exporting about 300 megawatts of power outside Ghana to Benin, Burkina Faso, and other neighboring countries. If you have enough and you are exporting power, obviously, there will be no need to publish a timetable,” he stated.

His remarks come amid calls from the Minority in Parliament for the government to release a load-shedding timetable due to the recent intermittent power outages, commonly known as ‘dumsor.’

However, the minister refuted claims of load shedding, insisting that the power cuts are not systematic but rather the result of technical challenges.

“Let me put it on record that we’re not shedding load. And so, the demand by the Minority and some people that we publish a load-shedding timetable is moot. When you are not shedding load, there will be no need to publish a load-shedding timetable,” he stressed.

Mr Jinapor assured Ghanaians that efforts are underway to address the technical issues and stabilize power supply across the country.

I can’t eat beause royalties from my hit song ‘Joy is Coming” has been wiped out

Nigerian singer Fido, known for his hit song ‘Joy is Coming’, has voiced his frustration over losing all the money he made from the track.

In a shocking revelation, the artist claimed that the marketing company he worked with, Cidsr Africa, took complete control of his royalties, leaving him with nothing.

“I’ve made zero dollars from my hit song ‘Joy is Coming.’ I can’t even eat, and the marketing agency I worked with wiped out all my royalties. I just got my YouTube account now and saw 0 naira in it… they withdrew all my money,” Fido lamented.

According to him, Cidsr Africa is demanding a 70-30 royalty split, with the company taking the larger portion. However, the singer has strongly opposed this arrangement, arguing that the record label did not contribute enough to justify taking the majority of his earnings.

“I refused because the record label didn’t do much to deserve more money than me for my own song!” he said.

The revelation has sparked reactions among fans, with many expressing outrage over the alleged exploitation. Fido’s struggle highlights the ongoing issues of unfair contracts and financial disputes within the music industry.

As of now, Cidsr Africa is yet to respond to the allegations.

  • Nepotism, poor leadership crushed state corporations – KSM

Nepotism, poor leadership crushed state corporations – KSM

Ghanaian comedian Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) has voiced concerns over the persistent challenges stifling Ghana’s economic progress, attributing them to nepotism, poor leadership, and misplaced priorities.

In a YouTube discussion, KSM lamented that the collapse of state-owned enterprises was largely due to prioritizing personal connections over competence, as well as the nation’s tendency to emphasize religion over economic development. He noted that these detrimental practices continue to hinder Ghana’s growth.

Reflecting on decisions made during the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) era in the late 20th century, he explained that the government faced a critical choice: either restructure state-owned enterprises or privatize them. Ultimately, Ghana opted for privatization, selling off numerous factories and state organizations.

“There were all these state organizations, but they were not generating enough revenue. At that point, Ghana had two choices: either re-engineer the thinking and recalibrate the agenda of these institutions by appointing competent managers, or sell them off to the private sector. We chose to sell them off.

“Incidentally, most of the factories and things that we sold didn’t go into the private sector per se, but mostly into the hands of pastors who established chapels. They became churches instead of factories. The factories that used to employ people are no longer there. In place of that are churches,” KSM explained.

He emphasized that the lack of job opportunities has left many young people unemployed, forcing them to turn to religious gatherings instead of actively seeking work.

“There are no longer jobs for the youth, but there are big churches and they have great programs. Monday is worship night, and Tuesday is worship congregation. Friday is Friday night service. All the youth who have been left unemployed, instead of looking for work, will go to the church and then pray for work,” he stated.

KSM also criticized the culture of nepotism in the country, highlighting how favoritism in employment contributed to the downfall of state enterprises. He pointed out that appointments were often based on personal relationships rather than merit, leading to inefficiency and mismanagement.

“CEOs who should be in meetings with ministers are instead attending funerals. We employed relatives and friends, and that destroyed our state corporations. These foolish practices crushed us, and we are still doing it,” he said.

As a solution, KSM called for a fundamental shift in mindset, particularly among the youth. He stressed the need for a progressive and efficient approach to national development that aligns with the demands of modern society.

“The youth must understand that we need a change in our attitudes before anything else can improve. The mindset must change. Our current mindset does not fit into the modern world of dynamic progress. We are still thinking in an analogue way, but we are living in a digital generation,” he concluded.

His remarks serve as a call to action for Ghanaians to prioritize competence, innovation, and strategic leadership in order to foster sustainable economic growth.

  • I want to start my own production to groom young talents – Maame Serwaa

I want to start my own production to groom young talents – Maame Serwaa

Kumawood actress Clara Benson, popularly known as Maame Serwaa, has revealed her plans to establish her own film production company aimed at nurturing young talents in Ghana’s movie industry.

Speaking in an interview on Onua FM on March 6, 2025, the actress expressed her long-standing desire to explore the production side of the film industry.

“I’ve had the idea of being a producer when I decided to experience more, even though I’m an actress and I know a lot about the job. I want to understand how directors and producers operate and gain that experience as well. When I completed school, I met with my management and told them I wanted to start my own production and also audition young talents,” she stated.

Maame Serwaa lamented that misconceptions about the Ghanaian movie industry, particularly claims of producers demanding sexual favors in exchange for roles, have discouraged many aspiring actors from pursuing their dreams.

“People in Ghana have talent, but they are scared to put themselves out there because of the things they’ve heard. Many ask if it’s true that producers demand sex in return for roles. Due to this, some parents are hesitant to allow their children to pursue acting,” she said.

The actress, however, dismissed such claims based on her personal experience, stating that the producers she has worked with uphold professional standards.

“The producers I’ve worked with are all big names, and they have never and will never ask for sex in exchange for roles. I don’t know what’s going on or which producers have come into the industry that have changed things,” she added.

Maame Serwaa emphasized her commitment to proving that young talents can be groomed into successful actors based solely on their abilities.

“This is the time to prove to people that their fears are unfounded. If you have the talent, why not? We can help develop that talent and make you one of the stars we see on screen,” she affirmed.

Her initiative aims to create a safe and professional environment for budding actors, ensuring that their skills and passion for the craft are the only criteria for success in the industry.
