Ghanaian musician Mr Drew has opened up about an unexpected twist in his love life, revealing that he once found himself as a “sneaky link” without realizing it.
Speaking in an interview with DJ Slim on Hitz FM, Mr Drew shared how he unknowingly developed feelings for someone who was already in a committed relationship.
“I was just a sneaky link unknowingly, meanwhile, I was falling in love,” he recounted.
According to him, the truth only came to light when the woman involved bluntly clarified their dynamic. “Oh, I really like you, but we’re just on that level. Don’t take it too far,” she told him.
When asked how he handled the situation, Mr Drew humorously advised that anyone in such a position has only three choices: stay in it, step away, or accept the arrangement as a “joint service.”
“Why are you moving? Don’t move. Stay there. You like what is happening, but you want to graduate. You can’t graduate. So, stay there, or you step back, or you do a joint service. That’s the only way,” he said.
He further commented on how unconventional relationships, including “sneaky link” arrangements, have become increasingly common in modern dating.
“In this era, people have understood stuff like being a sneaky link. Some even last longer than the proper relationship,” he noted.
Mr Drew’s candid remarks have sparked conversations about the evolving nature of relationships and the blurred lines between casual and serious commitments in today’s dating culture.
Chief Executive Officer of the Golden Movie Awards, Mimi Andani, has spoken out against those ridiculing Rev. Charlotte Oduro following news of her divorce.
Addressing the backlash directed at the popular marriage counselor, Mimi emphasized that staying in an unhealthy marriage should not be mistaken for success.
“For those of you who are happy criticising her left and right because she is divorced, your reason is just because you are not bold enough. Tolerating disrespect and abuse doesn’t mean your marriage is successful,” she stated.
Drawing from her own experience, Mimi revealed that she had spent thirteen years with her ex-husband before their marriage ended. She believes this gives her a valid perspective on the matter.
“I have been in a relationship for five years, got married for eight years, lived with the same man for thirteen years, and got divorced on the thirteenth year. I think I have an opinion on this,” she shared.
Despite her disagreement with some of Rev. Charlotte Oduro’s teachings, Mimi extended words of support to her, urging the public to show compassion instead of judgment.
“Charlotte Oduro, I have so many things to tell you based on your teachings. All I want to say from a sister to another is I wish you healing, protection, and I wish the Holy Spirit would comfort you and be with you,” she added.
Her statement has since sparked conversations online, with many echoing her call for empathy in discussions about marriage and divorce.

In a social media post on February 13, 2025, she lamented how trucks selling “nkura duro” (rat poison) blast loud music and make announcements as early as 6 a.m., disrupting those who are either still asleep or preparing for work.
“Ghana is a sick country, honestly! Explain to me why there’s a truck selling ‘nkura duro’ with loud music and announcements as early as 6 am on the streets,” she fumed.
She further criticized the lack of consideration for others, urging vendors to be mindful of noise pollution.

A tragic attack on travelers in Walewale has claimed the lives of two passengers and left a bus completely destroyed by fire.
The bus, which was traveling from Kumasi to Garu, was attacked by armed men after stopping in front of the ADB Bank in Walewale.
The attack is suspected to be linked to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in Bawku.
Just a day earlier, on February 11, 2025, a similar attack near Wulugu on the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway left three passengers dead, with their bus set on fire.
In another incident on February 12, a gunfight in Bawku claimed three more lives, adding to the growing violence in the area.
These recent deaths have brought the total number of casualties in the conflict to 54 since its resurgence in October 2024.
The Bawku chieftaincy dispute remains one of Ghana’s most protracted and contentious conflicts, rooted in a complex mix of historical, ethnic, and political factors.
At the heart of the issue is the struggle for chieftaincy legitimacy between the Mamprusi and Kusasi ethnic groups in the Bawku Traditional Area.
While the Mamprusi assert historical rights to the Bawku skin, the Kusasi claim it based on demographic majority and political support gained in recent decades (Longi, 2014).
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged rival factions to prioritize peace for the area’s development.
He warned that prolonged violence would lead to poverty, stagnation in infrastructure, and worsening living conditions.
He called on all parties to reflect on their actions and seek peaceful solutions for the sake of future generations.
Meanwhile, the country’s Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has assured that the government remains committed to resolving the Bawku conflict through traditional mechanisms as part of a broader effort to restore lasting peace.
The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has emphasized that President John Mahama’s decision to establish the Youth Development Ministry reflects his deep commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
According to Opare Addo, the creation of the ministry was not merely a political decision but stemmed from recommendations outlined in the constitutional review process initiated under former Presidents John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on GHOne TV’s Hard Talk program, he clarified that Mahama’s move to set up the ministry was backed by a broader constitutional framework designed to prioritize the role of young people in national development.
“You can’t force anything on President Mahama if he doesn’t believe in it. The creation of this ministry was not my idea. The constitutional review document, led by President Mills and President Mahama, made a case for the establishment of a ministry solely for youth development,” he stated.
Reaffirming the president’s vision, Opare Addo stressed that Mahama understands the importance of placing young people at the heart of Ghana’s democracy.
He noted that the Youth Development and Empowerment Ministry is a strategic move to ensure young people are actively involved in shaping the nation’s future.
He further assured that the ministry will work to enhance opportunities for the youth, ensuring their voices are heard in policy-making and national decision-making processes.
The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has strongly condemned the recent raid on the home of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, describing it as an uncalled-for and unacceptable action in a civilised society.
Addressing the press on Thursday, Boakye made it clear that such actions have no place in Ghana, stating, “We are not in the jungle, and such actions should not be occurring in a civilized society. This raid was uncalled for and unacceptable.”
Boakye emphasized that the NPP is committed to the rule of law and would fully cooperate with any state investigative body, expressing the party’s readiness to support investigations into the incident.
“We are ready to cooperate with any state institution, whether law enforcement or other investigative bodies,” he stated, reinforcing the party’s commitment to transparency and lawful conduct.
However, he criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for suggesting that the raid might have been staged, calling it “outrageous.”
Boakye questioned the integrity of the OSP’s intelligence, pointing to CCTV footage that clearly shows a group of men in uniform, with a man identified as Richard Jakpa leading the team.
While the NPP remains firm in its stance against political victimization, Boakye reiterated that the party is unwavering in its support for the rule of law and will continue to oppose any form of political harassment.
“We will not be subjected to any form of political harassment,” he affirmed.
Acting Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC, James Agyenim-Boateng, has called out the sudden concern from New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) regarding home invasions, labeling it hypocritical.
His remarks come in response to recent discussions following a raid on the home of Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s finance minister.
In a Facebook post, Agyenim-Boateng recalled an incident from 2017, when gun-wielding NPP supporters raided his home shortly after the party assumed power.
He described how military personnel and individuals in civilian clothing broke into his residence, seizing two of his cars. These cars were later returned by the police after several months, as they were found to belong to him and not to the state.
He questioned the sudden outrage from NPP MPs over home invasions, pointing out the irony that many appointees from the previous Mahama government faced similar treatment when the NPP took office.
“It’s interesting how suddenly, NPP MPs are concerned about home invasions and are falling over themselves to quote laws against the very things that their government did to many appointees of the then former Mahama government,” he remarked.
Agyenim-Boateng’s comments follow the revelation of CCTV footage showing an alleged raid at Ken Ofori-Atta’s private residence on February 11, 2025, while he was out of the country.
Eyewitnesses reported that around 12 individuals, including military and police officers, were involved in the incident.
This new development has reignited discussions surrounding the legality and morality of such actions, especially given the political context in which they occur.
Meanwhile, Ofori-Atta has been declared a fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, following allegations of financial misconduct, including the controversial National Cathedral project and dealings with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rejected claims made by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is a wanted fugitive.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, February 13, 2025, NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, firmly stated that Ofori-Atta is not a fugitive and will return to the country once he receives medical clearance.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta can never be a fugitive. He is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong. He got it wrong. Once Ofori-Atta’s doctors declare him fit and healthy, he will return to the country,” Boakye said.
Boakye called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor to refrain from making inflammatory statements that could unnecessarily stir public emotions and create tension.
“Until then, the Special Prosecutor should avoid making sensational statements provoking public emotions and creating drama over a matter that could have been adequately resolved through correspondence,” he added.
He emphasized that Ken Ofori-Atta had kept the OSP informed about his medical travels, clarifying that Ofori-Atta was not evading accountability.
“Ken Ofori-Atta is not evading accountability as the OSP claimed. On January 2, 2025, he wrote a letter to the then Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Osei-Opare, informing her of his travel to the United States for a follow-up medical visit, providing his current and reliable contact information. On January 22, 2025, Ofori-Atta again wrote to the new Chief of Staff, Julius Deborah, to inform him of his overseas medical examination,” Boakye explained.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has declared Ofori-Atta wanted, accusing him of corruption in relation to the SML, National Cathedral, and other projects during his tenure as Finance Minister.
However, the NPP insists that the allegations are baseless and that Ofori-Atta’s absence is purely due to his ongoing medical treatment.
Former Deputy National Organiser of the NDC, Chief Biney, has officially ended his marriage to Afia Akoto.
He shared a video on Facebook showing him and some companions visiting a man believed to be Afia Akoto’s father. During the visit, he took back a bottle of Schnapp, a traditional symbol of marriage, which he had presented to her family during their wedding—formally marking the end of their union.
In the video’s caption, Chief Biney confirmed that his five-year marriage to Afia Akoto, a former Deputy CEO of MASLOC under the Akufo-Addo administration, was officially over.
He also expressed gratitude to God and his pastor, Apostle Selassie Addae, for accompanying him to his former in-laws to finalize the separation.
He wrote: “A Man’s heart plans his ways but God Almighty directs his steps. Where God guides, he provides. That journey 5 years ago has traditionally and officially ended successfully in Jesus’ name. Baba God, I am grateful for this day. Thank you Apostle Selasie Addae, Apostle Emmanuel Baidoo and all for the support.”

Chief Biney and Afia Akoto’s marriage
Chief Biney and Afia Akoto tied the knot in a big plush wedding in 2020, which was attended by prominent political figures and distinguished personalities in Ghana.
The couple’s wedding courted attention in the media space as they were important figures from the two rival political parties in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
However, a few years after their marriage, rumours circulated that Chief Biney and Afia Akoto were facing marital issues and that their union was on the verge of collapsing.
The rumours later turned out to be true in 2023 after Afia Akoto confirmed that she and Chief Biney had split while addressing some NPP supporters in the Okaikoi North constituency at a political event.
Below is the video of Chiney reclaiming his Schnapp to end his marriage to Afia Akoto:
Entertainment pundit and artiste manager, Bullgod, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, declaring that the unfolding events show President John Dramani Mahama is actively working to “reset” Ghana.
Reacting to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) declaring Ofori-Atta a fugitive, Bullgod took to Facebook on February 12, 2025, to express his thoughts. In his posts, he wrote: “The presidency has been depraved, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama IS WORKING,” and “RESETTING GHANA, John Dramani Mahama is working.”
His remarks add to a growing list of celebrities, including Baba Sadiq, Kwame A Plus, and Kwame Dzokoto, who have shared their opinions on the matter.
The OSP’s announcement named Ofori-Atta as a suspect in multiple corruption-related cases, including investigations into the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML). The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has since called on him to return to Ghana for questioning.
The development has sparked widespread reactions among Ghanaians, with many debating the implications of the case and its impact on the country’s governance.
Germany-based Ghanaian socialite, Turey, has revealed that her mother secretly arranged with a doctor to terminate her pregnancy when she was just 16 years old.
Speaking on Angel TV on February 12, 2025, she recounted how the doctor deceived her into believing she had an infection, only to carry out the abortion without her knowledge.
“I got pregnant at 14 while in boarding school, and the father was just 16. My mother knew about it and secretly worked with a doctor to abort it. The doctor told me I had an infection, and that was how he carried out the abortion,” she disclosed.
Turey further revealed that by the age of 17, she had undergone three abortions. She shared how she terminated two additional pregnancies during her senior high school years, with her mother insisting on the last one.
“In secondary school, I got pregnant twice. During my third pregnancy, my mother got fed up and wanted me to abort it. So, I told her if I would, then she should allow me to stay with her in Germany. She agreed right after aborting the baby, which was twins,” she said.
Her revelations have sparked conversations about teenage pregnancy, parental decisions, and abortion, raising concerns about how young girls navigate such challenges.

Popular media personality Captain Smart has sparked controversy with his remarks about Ghanaian singer Becca, accusing her of altering her skin tone and losing her musical relevance.
Speaking on his show, Captain Smart expressed disappointment over Becca’s transformation, stating that she no longer looks like the dark-skinned beauty Ghanaians admired during her rise to fame.
“See how Becca looks nowadays. She looks like a doll. She has lightened her skin even though we all saw her rise as a beautiful black-skinned woman,” he remarked.
Beyond her appearance, Captain Smart also suggested that Becca’s music career has taken a hit. “Nobody even hears her music when she releases it nowadays. She has bleached her skin and her talent,” he added.
Becca, known for hits like Daa Ke Daa and You Lied to Me, has been a celebrated figure in the Ghanaian music industry for over a decade. However, her recent public appearances have fueled speculation about changes to her skin tone, sparking mixed reactions from fans and industry insiders.
While some social media users have defended her, arguing that personal choices should not define an artist’s success, others share Captain Smart’s concerns about how beauty standards influence career decisions.
The controversial media personality advised women against bleaching their skin as it was harmful to their physical well-being.
Over the years, skin bleaching has become a lucrative business in Ghana, with many women and sometimes men all engaging it by purchasing numerous licensed and unlicensed creams and soaps to lighten their skin.

Many Ghanaians continue to use skin-lightening creams and soaps, despite the caution on the serious health risks caused by harmful chemicals like mercury.
A report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Africa Region and the Integrated African Health Observatory (iAHO) in November 2023 revealed that 39 out of every 100 Ghanaians use skin-bleaching products.
Although there is a law in Ghana that bans the importation and sale of these creams and soaps, authorities have struggled to enforce it effectively.
Below is a video of Captain Smart criticizing Becca and other women for bleaching their skin:
The founder of the International God’s Way Church (IGWC) Bishop Daniel Obinim has sated that he prophesied that Mr and Mra Oduro’s marriage will collapse by January or February 2025.
A video shared on YouTube shows Bishop Obinim speaking to his congregation, reminding them of when he first delivered the prophecy.
“I showed the picture of Charlotte Oduro to my church members. I told you that their marriage would collapse by January or February, I knew it would collapse and asked that we pray for them. When the news broke, people began to call me, I wondered if they thought I would be telling lies.”
Obinim further mentioned there are several visions revealed to him about the country but he has resorted to making them known privately.
“The problem we have here in Ghana is that when you get a vision and you make it public people tend to doubt you. I have therefore advised myself a long time ago that I would not end up like those people where I publicly talk about what is about to happen in the country. When I see something bad is about to happen, I only inform my congregants. Then we pray seeking God’s protection,” he said to rapturous applause from his church members.
At the time of writing this report, the video had raked in over 2,000 views and 12 comments.
New details have surfaced about the divorce between Apostle Solomon Oduro and Counsellor Charlotte Oduro.
Reports show that Apostle Oduro initially filed for divorce in April 2024. After his wife responded, he revised his petition and resubmitted it on November 29, 2024.
In his petition, he stated that their traditional marriage had already been annulled and requested that their ordinance marriage also be officially dissolved.
A deeper look into the divorce documents reveals the reasons why he believes their marriage cannot be saved.
Apostle Solomon Oduro has revealed shocking details about his marriage troubles with Counsellor Charlotte Oduro in his divorce petition.
He claimed that his wife no longer found him attractive, treated him coldly, and left him out of important decisions. He also accused her of disrespect, poor communication, and even turning their children against him.
According to him, in their 16 years of marriage, they were intimate only 12 times. He also alleged that their children, following their mother’s influence, sometimes locked him out of the house.
Another issue he raised was that since January 2024, his wife stopped eating meals prepared by their chef. By March, she reportedly told their children to do the same and started cooking her own meals inside the master bedroom.
He further stated that the situation worsened, leading to emotional and physical abuse, causing him great distress and anxiety.
“The respondent is abusive both emotionally and physically towards the petitioner. She removed her ring and packed out of their matrimonial home at least twenty times over the slightest provocation,” he alleged.
He also alleged that their children informed him about her relationships with other men, including her ex.
He claimed that despite running several businesses, his wife failed to contribute to the household or care for their children.
Apostle Oduro stated that his wife began her business ventures using proceeds from the naming ceremony for their second child.
He said she sold items such as oil, communion, clothes and many more at the church and kept the money for herself.
Despite all these, Apostle Oduro said he purchased a Suzuki 4×4, a Toyota Camry, and later a brand-new Mercedes Benz for his wife.
However, she later sold the Mercedes Benz and currently owns a Range Rover and a Jetour 4×4.
He said she also purchased a piece of land in Katapor, near Kwabenya.
In addition to that, she owns a diaper brand and a wholesale and retail business.
Apostle Oduro expressed that all these signs indicate that his wife was financially capable of contributing to the home but chose not to.

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has instructed the Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC) to include lessons on integrity and ethics in early childhood education to promote patriotism among young learners.
According to him, the government is committed to instilling these values from an early stage to help nurture responsible citizens.
“It is the government’s desire and intention to incorporate integrity and ethics into early childhood training, linking them to patriotism as a core value. Therefore, as you develop books, it is essential to introduce children to what is morally acceptable and unacceptable, ensuring that integrity and ethics become part of their formative years. In future curriculum reviews, we will necessarily incorporate these values for preschool, early childhood, and basic education going forward,” he stated.
He made these remarks during a tour of institutions under the Ministry of Education.
The minister also stressed the need to cultivate a strong reading culture among pupils to improve literacy and critical thinking.
His nationwide tour, conducted on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, aimed to familiarize him with the agencies under his ministry and address pressing concerns in the education sector.
As part of the tour, he visited key educational bodies such as GTEC, TVET, and GETFund, which play a major role in shaping the country’s education policies and development.
The Ministry of Finance has proposed March 10, 2025, as the date for presenting the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament.
However, this date is subject to approval by Parliament, pending discussions in the House, according to a JoyNews report.
Ghana’s Financial Administration Act requires the budget to be presented before March 31, 2025.
In January, Parliament approved a GH¢68.1 billion Mini Budget to cover government spending for the first three months of the year.
Ahead of the full budget presentation, the Finance Ministry has issued guidelines to various ministries to help them set spending limits and plan their programs. Ministries have been asked to prioritize their projects and submit their proposals within a set timeline before a final budget meeting is held.
The 2025 Budget is expected to focus on economic recovery and job creation, particularly through the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is also likely to announce the removal of certain taxes, including the betting tax, the COVID-19 levy, and the E-Levy. However, this move could result in a revenue shortfall of nearly GH¢10 billion, which poses a challenge for the government.
Another major concern is Ghana’s energy sector debt, which could slow down economic recovery efforts.
Additionally, the 2025 Budget will be shaped by Ghana’s ongoing program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), ensuring that policies align with IMF requirements.
Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Stephen Amoah, has denied claims by some detractors that Ofori-Atta has run away from the country.
This comes in response to a declaration made by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng on Wednesday, February 12, naming Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive for allegedly causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the controversial National Cathedral and the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) contract with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
“I want to make it emphatically clear that Ken Ofori-Atta hasn’t run away,” Dr Amoah told members on the floor of Parliament.
“Mr Speaker, I would like to advise this august house. Our actions and omissions over the years have actually defined us, and we have allowed external stakeholders to view us through different lenses. It is time we stop doing this to each other,” he said
Dr Amoah also condemned the harsh language used by members, particularly regarding the state of the economy.
“Some of the descriptions they give him, some even went to the extent of commenting on the economy that he left behind. In fact, I cannot repeat those evil words they use in-house,” he added, alluding to the strong criticism that Ofori-Atta has faced.
Dr. Amoah highlighted the things Ofori-Atta accomplished, especially how he handled Ghana’s economy.
“In 2016, the economy that Ken Ofori-Atta inherited was growing at just 3.4 percent, with an inflation rate of 15.4 percent. Under his leadership, we have been able to implement one of the most enviable, strong policy frameworks on the African continent,” Dr Amoah argued, asserting that Ofori-Atta’s tenure was marked by significant progress despite challenges.
The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, have arrived in Wa, Upper West Region, to support efforts in controlling the meningitis outbreak.
As part of their visit, they will meet with key leaders, including the Regional Minister and the Wa Naa, the traditional ruler of the area.
The minister will also travel to the Nadowli Kaleo District to speak with the District Coordinating Director.
He is expected to visit the district hospital, where meningitis patients are being treated, interact with the hospital staff, and hand over essential medicines to aid in managing the disease.
Speaking to the media on February 12, 2025, in Wa, Akandoh stated: “I am excited about the enthusiasm of the health professionals on the ground. I think that if we encourage them, they will do a better job. Sometimes, in situations like this, by the time you get to the ground, the health professionals are already exhausted. But I’m happy about their energy and enthusiasm.”
The health officials are in the region to check the situation themselves, improve how they respond, and find better ways to stop meningitis from spreading.
By Sunday, February 9, 2025, there were 23 suspected meningitis cases in the Upper West Region, and four people had died.
Three districts, Nadowli, Nandom and Jirapa were already on high alert during the week.
Wa West and Sissala East also reported new cases, increasing the number of affected districts to eight.
Meningitis is a serious disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It is a major health concern worldwide and spreads more during the dry season, especially in northern Ghana.
Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) continues to be a big health issue in Ghana, with up to 10 out of every 100 confirmed cases resulting in death each year.
Northern Ghana is part of an area known as the “meningitis belt,” where outbreaks happen more often.
Health officials are advising people to go to the hospital as soon as they notice symptoms since early treatment can save lives.
The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has disclosed that he dropped the trial of Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson because he believes the case was politically motivated.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Dr. Ayine explained why he decided to discontinue several major trials involving political figures, most of whom are members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In Dr. Ato Forson’s case, the Attorney-General stated that he had been involved in the matter from the beginning and had a thorough understanding of the trial. However, after reassessing the case upon assuming office a few weeks ago, he saw no reason to continue with the prosecution.
“I believed then, and still believe now, that Hon. Ato Forson was a victim of a political witch-hunt and that he has no case to answer in this trial,” he said.
Dr. Ayine further stated that the case against Dr. Ato Forson lacked legal merit.
“That position was vindicated by the erudite judgment of the Court of Appeal which ruled that the trial court erred in calling upon the accused persons to mount their defence. When the then Attorney-General vowed to file an appeal and actually went ahead to do so, I took the view that it was done to save face and that there was not a scintilla of merit to his appeal. Indeed, the appeal was, to say the least, incompetent,” he said.
Two weeks ago, the AG discontinued the controversial ambulance procurement case involving Dr Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa, the third accused. This decision was formalised in a notice issued by the AG’s chambers.
This follows a ruling by the Court of Appeal, which acquitted and discharged Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa, the third accused.
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa were accused of causing a financial loss of €2.37 million to the state in a deal to purchase 200 ambulances between 2014 and 2016.
Dr Ato Forson was then the deputy finance minister and Mr Jakpa was acting as a local representative of a firm based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Big Sea General Trading Limited.
The two accused individuals pleaded not guilty to charges including wilfully causing financial loss to the state, abetment to wilfully causing financial loss, contravention of the Public Procurement Act, and intentionally misapplying public property.
According to the AG’s charge sheet, during the 2009 State of the Nation Address, then-President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills announced plans to purchase new ambulances to expand the National Ambulance Service’s operations.
Mr Jakpa approached the Ministry of Health with a proposal. He claimed to have arranged financing from Stanbic Bank for the supply of 200 ambulances to the government.
The financing agreement between the government and Stanbic Bank was approved by Parliament.
On 19th November 2012, a former Director of the Ministry of Health wrote to the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), seeking approval to engage Mr Jakpa’s firm through single sourcing for the supply of the ambulances.
On 7th August 2014, Dr Ato Forson wrote to the Bank of Ghana requesting letters of credit covering €3.95 million for the supply of 50 ambulances in favour of Big Sea General Trading Limited. The letters of credit were subsequently issued.
The facts of the case state that 30 ambulances were purchased for €2.37 million, but none met the required specifications and were deemed “not fit for purpose.”
The Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, has suggested that the alleged raid at Ofori-Atta’s residence was either staged or carried out by imposters attempting to discredit the OSP and derail its ongoing investigations.
A group of individuals dressed in military uniforms stormed Ofori-Atta’s home in Cantonments on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
The raid comes at a time when Ofori-Atta is under investigation by the OSP in connection with four high-profile corruption cases, including those related to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), and two other undisclosed matters.
Despite what happened, the OSP says it had nothing to do with the raid. Instead, it believes Ken Ofori-Atta staged the incident to make the OSP look bad and interfere with the investigation.
“Our intelligence points us to state that the purported raid of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s residence was staged or, at best, an imposter action in an attempt to cause disfavor for the OSP and to derail the investigation. The OSP is never deterred by such occurrences, and the investigations will continue as prescribed by law.”
The OSP has however, vowed to get to the bottom of the incident, as suspicions grow that the move was intended to discredit its work.
Meanwhile, there has been no official statement from Ofori-Atta regarding the matter.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has dismissed claims that it raided the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
This follows reports that on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, a group of individuals dressed in military uniforms stormed Ofori-Atta’s home in Cantonments.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng dismissed the allegations, stating unequivocally that the OSP was not involved in the raid.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not raid your house on Tuesday, 11th February 2025, or on any other day. Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not cause any persons, however, uniformed or bedecked, to raid your house on Tuesday, 11th February 2025, or on any other day. Mr. Ofori-Atta, that could not have been the OSP, and that is not our style,” the statement read.
Unknown individuals, including some in military and police uniforms, beseeched the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, about 12 individuals—five in military uniforms, one in a police uniform, and the rest in plain clothes where at his residence.
The incident occurred in Cantonments. Some family members, including his wife, were present at the time, per reports.
The OSP sought to clear the air following reports that it had declared Mr Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.
The said dealings, include:
Contractual arrangement between Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority for the stated objective of the enhancement of revenue assurance in the downstream petroleum sector, upstream petroleum production, and minerals and metals resource value chain.
Termination of a distribution, loss reduction, and associated network improvement project contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xhao Chen Technology BXC.
Procurement of contractors and materials and activities and payments in respect of the National Cathedral project
Activities and payments in respect of a contract awarded by the Ministry of Health initially commenced by the Ministry for Special Development Initiative to service Ghana Auto Group Limited for purchases and after-sales service and maintenance of 307 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 304 5 CDI Ambulances for the National Ambulance Service.
Payments out of and utilization of the tax refund account of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has taken full responsibility for the high-profile cases dropped that have been dropped, insisting that he was not directed by the President John Dramani Mahama to do so.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, February 12, to explain the dropping of the seven cases, Dr Ayine explained that the office of the Attorney General came to those conclusions after a thorough professional examination of all the cases.
The Attorney-General’s recent withdrawal of criminal charges in multiple cases, includes the Democracy Hub protesters’ case and the Saglemi Housing Project case. These actions have sparked public criticism, and many, including private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, have called for clarity regarding the reasoning behind these decisions.
In the case of the Democracy Hub protesters, who were arrested during an anti-galamsey protest in September 2024, all charges were dropped, clearing activists like Oliver Barker-Vormawor, lawyer Elorm Ama Governor-Ababio, and media personality Felicity Nelson.
Similarly, charges in the Saglemi Housing Project case were dropped, involving figures like Collins Dauda and Kweku Agyeman-Mensah, who were accused of financial mismanagement in connection with a $200 million affordable housing project.
Dr. Ayine had also previously discontinued the ambulance case involving former Majority Leader and Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa, relating to an alleged €2.37 million financial loss to the state.
Amid the controversy, the government has defended its actions, describing some of the cases as politically motivated.
The Tema Traditional Council (TTC) has declared a four-hour curfew for Tema Newtown, set to take place from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
A statement issued by the Council and signed by Registrar Jeffrey Lomo has been sent to the Eastern Naval Command, requesting the deployment of personnel for enforcement.
The statement clarified that the curfew will allow for traditional pacification rites to be conducted within the town, with only traditional priests permitted to be outdoors during these hours.

Chairperson of the 19-member Taskforce, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, established to implement President John Dramani Mahama’s 120-day social contract, has reassured Ghanaians of the team’s commitment to fulfilling the President’s promises.
During their inauguration in Accra on Tuesday, February 11, Dr. Sawyerr emphasized the Taskforce’s dedication to the task at hand and their resolve to achieve the outlined goals.
“By the honour you have bestowed upon us and the confidence you have reposed in us, we know how seriously you take your promises to the people of Ghana. Each promise is done with deep thinking, painstaking calculation, and consideration of various permutations to ensure they are viable, doable, and sustainable,” Dr. Sawyerr remarked.
She stressed that the President’s promises are of great significance, asserting that his word is his bond.
Dr. Sawyerr also made it clear that the Taskforce is ready to overcome any challenges that could obstruct the fulfillment of the President’s commitments.
“Woe betide anyone who stands in the way of the performance of your promises to the people of Ghana. So therefore, we pledge to use our utmost endeavors to ensure that we perform on the mandates that you have given us. We will not fail you. We will not fail the people of Ghana, and God be our helper,” she vowed.
The social contract encompasses a variety of initiatives, including forming the most efficient government under the Fourth Republic within 90 days, establishing a strong code of conduct for government officials, and eliminating taxes such as the e-levy and Covid-19 levy to alleviate economic pressures. The plan also includes launching a 24-hour economy policy, introducing a ‘no-academic-fee’ policy, and providing free tertiary education for individuals with disabilities.
Additional commitments include distributing free sanitary pads to female students in primary and secondary schools, conducting forensic audits into controversial state deals, prohibiting political appointees from purchasing state assets, allocating seed funding for a women’s development bank, and initiating environmental recovery efforts while banning illegal mining.
The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has been called to appear before Parliament within a week to update the House on the ongoing cholera and cerebrospinal meningitis outbreaks.
This follows a request by Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, urging the Minister to brief Parliament on the government’s efforts to control the diseases.
Afenyo-Markin highlighted that over 400 cholera cases have been reported in his constituency, while 14 deaths have occurred due to cerebrospinal meningitis in the Upper West Region.
In response, the First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor, instructed the Health Minister to appear before the House within one week.
“We need the Minister of Health to appear before the House within one week to brief the House on all the health issues raised on the floor,” he stated.
Afenyo-Markin also appealed to the Ministry to send additional medical staff to the Winneba Health Facility to help manage the outbreak and protect lives in his constituency.
“Mr Speaker, it has been reported that 412 cases of cholera in Effutu Municipality have claimed three lives. Currently, the affected are being treated at the Winneba Municipal Hospital, the UEW Clinic, and the Winneba Health Centre. Mr Speaker, these facilities are overwhelmed. Most of these cases are coming from the shelves. The central government must intervene immediately to save lives.
We also need additional staff to be deployed to Winneba, and the Minister of Health should direct other health professionals to help contain the outbreak.”
Former Guinness World Records contender and mother of renowned music producer and singer Ogidi Brown, Artiste Maame, has revealed that she chews over 20 packs of gum daily to keep herself from gossiping.
Speaking on The Delay Show on February 9, 2025, she explained that gum chewing has become an integral part of her identity, and she has no plans to stop.
“I don’t get tired of chewing gum. I can chew more than 20 packs a day, and I don’t feel any pain in my jaw,” she said.
Asked about her unusual habit, Artiste Maame admitted that it helps her avoid discussing other people’s affairs.
“I chew a lot of gum because I don’t want to speak on other people’s matters. If I take it out and hear something, I will talk about it,” she stated.
Artiste Maame made headlines in February 2024 when she attempted to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest gum-chewing marathon. She embarked on a seven-day challenge on February 9, hoping to surpass the existing 41-hour record.
However, her attempt ended just seven hours in when she unexpectedly fell asleep—a moment that was caught on camera and widely shared online—leading to her disqualification.
Despite the setback, she has fully embraced her gum-chewing persona, making it a signature part of her public image. She has also appeared in multiple music videos with her son.
Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine will soon update Ghanaians on why he decided to drop legal cases against some government officials.
During an interview on TV3’s New Day, Mr. Ofosu acknowledged that it is uncommon for an Attorney-General to publicly explain why they discontinue cases. However, Dr. Ayine has pledged to do so in the interest of transparency and accountability.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, while receiving the ORAL report at the Presidency on Monday, Dr. Ayine assured that he would address the media in the coming days to clarify his reasons for withdrawing cases against certain public officials.
“Yesterday at the ORAL report presentation, he said that in the course of this week, he will engage the media to explain why he has taken that decision.
“In fact, it is not usual to have an Attorney-General offer explanations for why they issue noelle prosequi but this Attorney General said in the spirit of accountability and transparency and respect for the public, he will do so,” he stated.
The government has strongly defended its decision to discontinue what it describes as politically motivated court cases, despite criticism from investigative journalist Manasseh Awuni Azure and others.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, has backed the Attorney-General’s decision, arguing that the cases in question were not based on solid evidence but rather driven by political motives.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Newsnight on Monday, February 10, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu questioned why opposition members were subjected to prolonged court trials while those behind politically motivated violence were not held accountable.
“I have always maintained that what justification existed for prosecuting Ofosu Ampofo and leaving out the state-sponsored terrorists who engaged in the mayhem at the Ayawaso West by-election?” he asked.
He pointed out the case of Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was prosecuted over an alleged meeting discussing political violence. Meanwhile, individuals involved in violent incidents—such as those at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election—faced no consequences, despite a Commission of Inquiry recommending sanctions against them.
The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee has challenged individuals who feel wrongfully accused in its report to seek legal redress.
This comes after concerns have been raised by the general public concerning the authenticity of the 2,417 complaints reported to have been received by the committee.
But former Auditor-General and ORAL committee member Daniel Domelevo has told the media that while the issues cited in the report are not conclusive, anyone who feels wrongly accused can seek redress in court.
“If you think that we’ve damaged your reputation, you can go to court,” Domelevo told host Bernard Avle.
However, he noted that a significant portion of the corruption-related cases presented to President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, February 10, will require thorough auditing to establish wrongdoing and determine the appropriate legal actions.
“The bulk of it needs auditing to establish those had procurement breaches and cases that were not in line with the laws of Ghana because we didn’t do any investigation. We don’t have a mandate to investigate; ours was to collect information,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner and former Berekum MP, Captain (Rtd.) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, has questioned the legal standing of the ORAL report.
“In less than two months, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) has come up with a report. I wonder what is in the report because nobody—nobody, mark my words, nobody—not even the Attorney-General can rely on it to prosecute anybody,” he stated.
He argued that the report cannot serve as a basis for prosecution but can only act as a guide for calling individuals to explain themselves.
Domelevo, however, maintains that investigation is not within ORAL’s mandate, emphasizing that the report is based on evidence received rather than independent inquiries into the complaints.
President Mahama has since handed the report to Dr. Dominic Ayine, directing him to conduct immediate investigations into the cases outlined.
According to the committee, it has so far received 2,417 complaints from individuals and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
“We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line. We also received 924 emails. Fortunately, all the calls are recorded automatically, and the emails have also been preserved for verification and validation.
“In total, the number of complaints received amounts to 2,417.”
Water supply has been restored to the Ho Municipality in the Volta Region after weeks of disruption caused by the breakdown of all three pumps at the Kpeve Water Abstraction Plant.
Management of Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) announced in a statement issued on Monday, February 10, that water distribution has resumed after technical teams worked around the clock to resolve the issue.
“GWL deployed its technical teams, who worked tirelessly and around the clock to restore operations within the stipulated time of 48 hours, to set in motion the short-term solution outlined by the Managing Director, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu. The short-term measures also implemented include the provision of tanker services to essential service institutions.”
To ensure a steady water supply, GWL has purchased two new pumps, which are expected to arrive by the end of March as a medium-term fix.
The company also stated that efforts are underway to close the gap between water demand and supply as part of the government’s Water for All initiative.
“In line with the government’s vision of ‘Water for All’ and the goal of leaving no one behind in access to safe and sustainable water, the strategic long-term measures to address the growing disparity between water demand and supply are already underway, with a key focus on the planned expansion of the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant to enhance capacity and ensure sustainable water provision for the Ho Municipality and surrounding communities.”
GWL reassured the public of its commitment to improving water services and thanked stakeholders for their patience and support.
Business mogul and founder of Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kwaku Oteng, has finally responded to long-standing speculations about the number of wives he has, clarifying that he is legally married to only two women.
Over the years, rumors have suggested that he has as many as five or six wives, with social media users continuously debating the actual number. However, in a recent interview on Angel FM, Dr. Oteng dismissed these claims, saying, “People say I have six wives; others say five. When did I marry all these women and I’m not even aware of it? I am married to just two women.”
He recalled how misinformation about his personal life spread even during a difficult time—his mother’s funeral. According to him, people wrongly assumed that one of his female friends present at the funeral was the mother of his first daughter.
“I remember when my mother died and I was busy mourning. There was this woman who is my friend. She was sitting right next to my wife. My first daughter was also sitting beside them. At the funeral, people said that the lady sitting next to my wife was the mother of my first child. Oh, how?” he recounted, expressing disbelief.
Additionally, he mentioned how some attendees speculated that he was taking turns spraying cash on multiple women, whom they assumed were all his wives.
The successful entrepreneur admitted that such rumors often leave him astonished but maintained that he rarely responds to them.
“Sometimes I hear these lies, and I’m stunned. About 98% of the things said about me out there are lies. I hear all these things but I barely respond to them because if you fight your own fight, God will not fight for you.”
When asked why he believes people spread false stories about him, he attributed it to his reserved nature, saying, “I barely speak. It’s true that I have a lot of radio stations, but I even rarely speak on air. It’s not because I can’t, but because I don’t like it. That’s why people spill lies about me, and I’m unable to defend myself.”
Dr. Oteng also took a swipe at individuals who make a living out of tarnishing his image online.
“There are people who can’t even afford toothpaste to brush their teeth but will sit online and insult you. It’s painful. They use me to gain traction and make money from it,” he lamented.
The business magnate has frequently found himself at the center of online discussions. His recent divorce from Akua Amoakowaa fueled even more speculation, with people dissecting every aspect of his private life.
Additionally, he made headlines when rumors suggested he had demoted his son, Samuel Acheampong, from CEO of Angel Broadcasting Network to a managerial role at Angel FM Kumasi.
Dr. Oteng was also linked to Ghanaian actress Tracey Boakye, with some alleging that he was the father of her daughter. He was even rumored to be the infamous ‘Papano’ she was associated with, though there was never any confirmation.
Despite the countless rumors, Dr. Oteng has made it clear that he is unbothered by them, choosing to focus on his businesses and family instead.

Apostle Solomon Oduro’s announcement of his divorce from Rev. Charlotte Oduro has reignited debates about the credibility of public figures who offer marital advice while facing personal challenges.
Rev. Charlotte Oduro, a well-known marriage counsellor, has yet to comment on the development. However, her silence has not shielded her from criticism, as many question how someone so vocal about marriage could not sustain her own.
In a statement released on February 10, 2025, Apostle Oduro, General Overseer of the Royal Victory Family Church, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the dissolution of their marriage. He stressed that the decision came after three years of separation and multiple reconciliation efforts. Appealing for public understanding, he reaffirmed his commitment to his ministry.
The news has sparked strong reactions from public figures, particularly Ghanaian musician Mzbel and fashion critic Charlie Dior.
Mzbel took to social media with a sarcastic remark, writing, “When the marriage counsellor’s marriage is not marriaging… lol,” a statement that many interpreted as a jab at the irony of Rev. Charlotte Oduro’s situation.
Charlie Dior, however, went beyond sarcasm, criticizing Rev. Oduro’s teachings on marriage. In a detailed post, he argued that her advice is often one-sided, placing excessive responsibility on women to maintain their marriages while offering little accountability for men.
“I really dislike how she speaks with such authority about what women need to do in marriage, as if there’s a one-size-fits-all formula,” Dior stated. “It’s always about how women should behave, what they should tolerate, and how they should cater to their husbands, but there’s barely any accountability or guidance directed at men.”
He further argued that such teachings reinforce outdated gender roles and put unnecessary pressure on women, calling for more balanced and realistic conversations about marriage in today’s world.
The Oduros, once celebrated as marriage counsellors, had already faced public scrutiny since their split, which was officially announced on February 10. Many had begun to question the credibility of their marital advice, given their own personal struggles.
With the news now public, opinions remain divided—some sympathize with the couple’s challenges, while others see the situation as a reflection of why marriage counselling should be more inclusive and realistic in its approach.
A stranger to parliament, George Glory Opeku, who was involved in the chaos that erupted on the night of January 30 at the Appointments Committee hearing, appeared before the parliamentary investigative committee today, Monday, 10th February.
He was accompanied by his counsel and asked to explain his involvement in the disruption. He had been summoned the previous Friday and was asked to return with legal representation, which he did.
Mr Opeku stated that he attended the session as a citizen observer, having been cleared by security upon arrival. He mentioned his interest in witnessing the vetting of Samuel Nartey George and Okudzeto Ablakwa, without any direct invitation from the nominees.
During the proceedings, Mr Opeku was seated in the public gallery but became involved when chaos erupted among Members of Parliament that night.
He claimed that his actions, as seen in video footage, were attempts to “salvage the situation and protect public property,” fulfilling what he believed to be his duty as a citizen.
He was captured reportedly calming down the MPs who were engaged in heated exchanges and near fisticuffs that led to the destruction of tables and microphones.
Mr Opeku admitted his lack of awareness regarding standing orders that restrict ordinary citizens from attending parliamentary sessions without the Speaker’s authority or an invitation.
He expressed remorse, stating that in the future, he would “advise himself and know how to go about with the standing orders.” The committee discharged him and his counsel, noting that he may be called upon again if necessary.
The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for using the Appointments Committee of Parliament as a platform for political revenge, rather than a forum for evaluating the qualifications of nominees.
In an interview with TV3’s NewDay on Monday, February 10, 2025, Kwetey accused the NPP of turning the committee into an arena for settling political scores, particularly with individuals who were prominent during the last election.
“Our friends in the NPP need to appreciate that the way to revive their fortunes is not to reduce the Appointments Committee into an arena for vendetta. They believe this is their opportunity to use the committee to settle scores, especially with people they perceive to have played key roles in making things difficult for them politically ahead of the election,” Kwetey stated.
He shared his own experience from 2009 when he was nominated as deputy finance minister, recalling that the NPP deliberately made his approval process difficult due to his involvement as a key communicator for the NDC during the election campaign.
“This is something the NPP unfortunately loves to do. When they lose elections, they get angry and go after those they believe were strong in that election. It tends not to be about a nominee’s capacity to perform but about past political statements and allegiances,” Kwetey added.
In a related development, the Minority Caucus in Parliament announced a temporary withdrawal from the Ad-hoc Committee investigating the recent vetting chaos, citing concerns of bias from the committee’s Chairman, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah.
The immediate past Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed that Ghana stands to recover an estimated $21.19 billion from misappropriated state assets.
Speaking on the committee’s findings, Ablakwa highlighted the scale of financial losses uncovered through 36 major cases, spanning high-value financial mismanagement and land-related acquisitions.
“In total, considering the 36 cases, the high-value cases we’ve identified, and the land-related loots, we can potentially raise about $21.19 billion. This amount far exceeds what we’ve been negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under stringent conditions,” he stated.
He commended former President John Mahama and his team for launching the ORAL project, which he described as a significant tool in the fight against corruption.
“We want to extend our sincere appreciation to President Mahama and his team for this initiative, which has truly served Ghana well.”
While his tenure on the committee has ended, Ablakwa remains optimistic about the next phase of the recovery process.
“We look forward to the next phase. Although we won’t be directly involved, we are confident that it will be successful in ensuring that resources rightfully belonging to Ghanaians are returned to the national coffers,” he added.
Engineers from the Ghana Armed Forces have visited the Asuokow community in the Eastern Region to assess the risks schoolchildren face when crossing a hazardous water body to access education.
The visit follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama for urgent action after a viral video highlighted the dangerous conditions the children endure.
In a Facebook post on Monday, 10th February, Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the issue.
“Engineers of the Ghana Armed Forces have already visited Asuokow community (where young school children have to cross this water body to access school) in the Eastern Region,” he stated.
Dr Omane Boamah assured the public that efforts are underway to provide a permanent solution.
“As President John Dramani Mahama assured Ghanaians, we’re working to permanently and urgently resolve the challenge the people and the schoolchildren of Asuokow are facing,” he added.
The visit by the military engineers marks the first step toward improving safety for schoolchildren in the community, reinforcing the government’s commitment to education and child welfare.
Former Defence Minister and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul, has identified inadequate housing as the most pressing challenge facing the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Nitiwul disclosed that many soldiers, especially those stationed in Accra, no longer reside in the barracks due to the shortage of accommodation. Instead, they are compelled to rent private residences within civilian communities.
“Soldiers should be in the barracks and not in a rented apartment or even in your house outside the barracks. But now, accommodation is one of the biggest challenges,” he said.
Expressing concern over the impact of this situation, he noted that living outside the barracks exposes personnel to external influences, making it harder to maintain military discipline.
“We started some construction, but the pace was slow because we do not have adequate resources. So when you want to mobilize soldiers or instill a particular style of discipline, it may be difficult,” he added.
According to him, the ideal housing arrangement for a young soldier should be a two-bedroom apartment. He, however, assured that the Akufo-Addo administration took steps to address the problem by initiating and commissioning several housing projects for the military.
Ghanaian filmmaker KayPeevibez has announced that he will no longer direct music videos, citing unfair treatment from musicians.
In an interview with Zionfelix on February 10, 2025, he revealed that his decision was influenced by multiple incidents of poor compensation, including his experience with rapper Amerado.
“This is one of the reasons I stopped shooting music videos. The pay is poor, yet they still expect you to deliver your best,” KayPeevibez stated.
He recalled how he played a key role in shaping Amerado’s Yeti Nsem series during the lockdown, handling everything from concept creation to visuals. However, despite his contributions, he said the rapper’s management later offered him just GH¢300 for his work.
“A lot of things happened, which is why I left his camp. We started together, and when money started coming in, his team brought a contract stating that they were going to pay me GH¢300. I couldn’t accept that,” he explained.
KayPeevibez disclosed that he began filming Yeti Nsem using his own equipment, with an understanding that he would handle Amerado’s visuals as the rapper’s career advanced. However, he claims the agreement was not honored.
“I started Yeti Nsem with my equipment. They bought their own cameras in the third month of filming. Before we began, I told Amerado that I wanted to push him, and when he became famous, I would handle his music videos.
“But later, they sidelined me. They brought in another director to shoot his first official music video and then hired a different director for his second video with Okyeame Kwame. That’s when I knew it was time to walk away,” he added.
Disappointed by the experience, KayPeevibez has now decided to step away from music video production altogether.
A bus traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region came under attack by unidentified gunmen, leaving one passenger dead and five others critically injured.
Reports indicate that despite being under military escort, the bus was ambushed, leading to casualties. The injured victims were rushed to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for urgent medical care.
While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, it is believed to be linked to the long-standing Bawku conflict.

Ghanaian musician Article Wan has shed light on his recent remarks about the quality of performances at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), clarifying that his words were intended to spark attention and highlight the need for more engaging performances.
Weeks ago, the artist made headlines when he urged TGMA organizers to consider him for future performances, stating that he could deliver better stagecraft than the “jump and go” acts typically featured.
“Kudos to TGMA for your remarkable work over the years! As you plan ahead, I humbly suggest curating a lineup of talents like myself and others who deliver truly memorable performances, not just ‘jump and go’ acts,” he wrote on Facebook.
During an interview with DJ Slim on Hitz FM, Article Wan explained the reasoning behind his choice of words.
“Richie said something here that when you are not getting the attention, you have to come out. You see the ‘jump and go’, I intentionally made it bold. I know our people like talking, they want to talk. So when I added the ‘jump and go’, they started reacting. I’ve gotten your attention,” he stated.
He further elaborated that his main concern was the need for high-quality and unforgettable performances at the TGMA.
“That particular side was to get your attention to listen to what I am talking about. I was talking about getting quality performances at the TGMA, something memorable for the world to see. Secondly, I said when artistes are performing, the front stage is very dull,” he added.
Having performed at TGMA in the early stages of his career, Article Wan admitted he was not satisfied with his own performance at the time. He believes he now has what it takes to deliver an electrifying show and is seeking another opportunity to prove himself.
Meanwhile, nominations for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards remain open until Sunday, February 16, 2025.
