  • Irish police demonstrate over garda rota dispute

Irish police officers, known as Gardaí, are starting a series of five protests because their boss, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, has made changes to their work schedules.

The group representing lower-ranking police officers, called the Garda Representatives Association (GRA), asked its members how they felt about taking action at work last month.

The group has been arguing with Mr Harris about changes to the work schedule and other aspects of the job.

Police officers are gathering to show their disagreement with the return of the Westmanstown schedule before discussions begin between all parties.

The police voted to stop working extra hours on five Tuesdays in October and go on strike on 10 November if their current disagreement is not resolved.

Mr Harris said he is ready to start discussing the problems with the schedule, and the three other police associations are also willing to join the discussions.

Extra work that employees choose to do, such as extra hours or shifts, is done in order to make sure there are enough staff members at certain places, like security checkpoints and patrols, police stations, and to make the police more noticeable during a time when there are less police officers available.

It is also used to protect the Dáil (lower house of Irish Parliament) and police special events. It is also used in important investigations and during court appearances.

Mr Harris announced that the Westmanstown roster would go back to the schedules they had before the pandemic.

This would mean that the police officers go back to working for six days in a row, and then have four days off.

This has not been liked by regular police officers, many of whom want to continue with the Covid-era schedules. These schedules have longer shifts but they also get four days off after working for four days.

Last year, the GRA said that having a six-day work week would mean some members would have to work 47 more days each year. This would also increase the amount of money they spend on commuting and childcare.

After many discussions with the GRA, Mr. Harris announced in September that he would continue with the six-day schedule, even though some people disagreed.

Speaking to a broadcaster in Ireland, GRA president Brendan O’Connor said that the police may take longer to respond and might not be as visible in some places.

Our members are just saying that the service is getting worse because we are not able to find and keep enough people.

The only reason it is working well is because we are flexible and committed to doing more than what is expected of us.

We would like to have a conversation, find a solution to this issue, and we never intended to find ourselves in this situation.

Mr Harris said that he and the police management were ready to have in-depth discussions.

He is having separate meetings with each of the garda associations this week.

Barristers in Ireland who specialize in criminal law will go on strike on Tuesday because they are unhappy with the government reducing their pay. This is the first time they are taking such action.

Lawyers will gather outside courthouses all over the country, including the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin, to express their disagreement between 10:00 and 13:00.

The barristers are going to be joined by criminal defence solicitors, who are stopping working because the cuts to their fees have not been brought back.

  • Kenya records 860 million cyberattacks in one year

Kenya’s communications regulator recently reported that the country faced a huge number of 860 million cyber-attacks in the past year.

The regulator said that the number, complexity, and size of cyber-threats targeting Kenya’s important information systems have greatly increased.

In 2017, Kenya had 7. 7 million cyber attacks.

In July, a big cyber attack by a group called Anonymous Sudan happened. They stopped people from using over 5,000 online government services in Sudan. These services included things like applying for visas, passports, and driver’s licenses.

The attack made it so that people couldn’t book train tickets or use their phones to send money.

The Communications Authority of Kenya said that in the past year, 79% of attacks were carried out by cyber criminals who hacked into the computer systems of organizations.

The regulator also mentioned that 14% of the attacks involved harmful software, 6. 5% involved cybercriminals overwhelming servers with excessive traffic to overwhelm their systems, and the rest of the attacks focused on targeting web applications.

The people in charge say that Kenya is now the third most targeted country by cyber criminals in Africa, after Nigeria and South Africa.

  • I led Ebony to Christianity before her death – Kaywa

Renowned music producer Kaywa has encouraged celebrities not to fear death prophecies, emphasizing that they are not a guarantee of death.

During a live discussion on X with Graphic Showbiz, Kaywa stated that many celebrities and the general public fear such prophecies due to a lack of understanding. He explained that death is a transition from one state to another, and for believers, it should not instill fear.

Kaywa also shared that he had received a prophecy about the late songstress Ebony Reigns before her passing, and he had converted her to Christianity before her untimely death in 2018.

He emphasized that both positive and negative prophecies should be accepted in good faith, as prophets deliver messages from God, not personal opinions.

“Whether you believe in the prophecy or not, the prophet’s aim is to convey what God has revealed to him. It is up to the recipient to accept it and act upon it. I have given some prophecies about certain individuals, and they received them with grace, and we prayed about them,” he iterated.

Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, known by her stage name Ebony Reigns, was a Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist known for her hit songs including “Poison” and “Kupe” Ebony Reigns died in a motor accident in 2018.

  • Cardi B reacts to Kanye West’s ‘Illuminati Plant’ comment

Kanye West referred to Cardi B as an Illuminati-backed artist who doesn’t write her own lyrics in a leaked video from around 2018, purportedly from a documentary featuring West discussing the rapper “Bongos.” In the recording, West stated, “Cardi B is an Illuminati plant.”

“She don’t write her raps,” he said before adding, “She’s just there to sound as ignorant as possible. She’s literally replaced Nicki Minaj purposely. That they put her there, and now she doesn’t know what to do. She has no idea what the f### is going on. She thinks it’s a blessing from the universe, it ain’t no f###### blessing.”

Upon learning about the leaked video, Cardi B responded by sharing a different video of Kanye West expressing positive sentiments about her. She posted a clip on X (formerly Twitter) where Ye spoke favorably about her during a 2022 interview with Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee.

“I always believed in her since she was on the show. Period,” the G.O.O.D. Music founder said, referencing Cardi’s stint on Love & Hip-Hop: New York.

She captioned her post simply with a red heart emoji.

The Grammy Award winner teamed up with Ye and Lil Durk in the 2022 song “Hot Sh*t.”

“I’m so happy that he gave me this verse. And I had a lot of conversations with Kanye West,” Cardi B explained to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in June 2022.

“I learned so much about him, and he’s such an amazing, sweet person. I’ve been feeling like I wish a lot of people [could] have conversations with him so they could just see the real him.”

  • Pope Francis makes first mention of possibility of blessing some same-sex couples

Pope Francis has proposed for the first time that Catholic priests may be able to bless same-sex unions in certain situations, even though he had previously said otherwise.

The Pope wrote a letter to his harshest critics in the Catholic Church. He responded to a letter from five conservative cardinals who had formal questions for him. These questions were called “dubia,” which means “doubt” in Latin. The cardinals wanted a yes or no answer from the Pope about how he is running the Church.

The cardinals, Walter Brandmuller, Raymond Leo Burke, Juan Sandoval Iniguez, Robert Sarah, and Joseph Zen Ze-kiun, wrote a letter to Pope Francis on July 10. The text talked about a meeting that will happen in October with important Church leaders. It questioned how this meeting might change the Church’s teachings. It also asked if the Pope plans to bless same-sex unions and if he wants to allow women to become priests.

According to a blog post by American Cardinal Raymond Burke, the five cardinals were not happy with the Pope’s first response. So, they changed the wording of the letter called “dubia” and sent it again on August 21. Cardinal Burke said they did this because they think the issue is very serious.

The Vatican later published a letter in Spanish on September 25. The letter was signed by Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, who is the Vatican’s new leader in matters of doctrine. The reply contains the answers from Pope Francis to the dubia, and he signed it as “Francis. ”

The Pope said that the church only sees marriage as being between a man and a woman. However, he said that blessings may be given to people in same-sex unions.

In simpler words, when you ask for a blessing, you are asking God for help and praying to have a better life. The Pope also said that church leaders need to be careful and decide if certain types of blessings are appropriate and do not promote a negative view of marriage.

The Pope’s current response seems to go against what he said in March. Back then, he stated that the Church couldn’t bless same-sex unions because it goes against their belief in not supporting sinful actions.

The newest update seems to be inspired by a decision made by the German Church a few months ago. In March, some priests in Cologne gave a Catholic blessing to same-sex unions, and this decision was put into practice in August.

The Pope said that he agreed with what Pope John Paul II said in 1994, that the Catholic Church cannot ordain women. However, he also said that we need to study the issue so we can teach people who have doubts about it.

“If we don’t understand and acknowledge the practical effects of these differences, it will be hard to accept that only men can be priests. We also won’t realize the importance of women’s rights or their need to have a role in leading the Church,” said the Pope.

The upcoming meeting of Catholic bishops may affect the church’s teachings. Pope Francis said that both the leaders and the people can have a say and feel like they are part of the church’s journey. We can say that synodality, as a style and way of working together, is very important in the life of the Church.

He also said that trying to make one group’s way of doing things the only way for everyone would only stop progress.

Some conservative members of the Church are skeptical about the upcoming Synod in Rome. They worry that women will be allowed to participate and that decisions won’t be made based on agreement among all members.

  • “Ignore such things and focus on making money”- Sarkodie replies Samini

Amidst the ongoing feud with Samini, Sarkodie has made it clear that his primary focus is on increasing his wealth. The rapper, seemingly unfazed by Samini’s recent criticisms, has posted cryptic messages on Snapchat.

Samini has consistently expressed frustration over an incident where he requested Sarkodie’s verse for a song but was turned down. He initially mentioned this in January and has continued to bring it up in discussions related to Sarkodie.

In a recent interview with Andy Dosty, Samini expressed his concerns about Sarkodie’s unapologetic stance regarding the issue, reopening old wounds.

“When he was asked about the issue, instead of him to brush the matter off, he acted like I was just ranting on the internet for no reason. What hurt me the most was that he kept on ignoring my messages. I kept asking ‘How far?’ but he never replied.

“So, it was painful that he waited until I had to bring the matter out into the public before he remembered what he had done. And if you’d respond, you being younger, and the fact that you remember exactly what happened, you should have applied wisdom in your response so you don’t fan my fury,” Samini explained.

In a recent Snapchat post, Sarkodie emphasized the significance of disregarding distractions. He acknowledged that facing hatred and a sense of entitlement from others is inevitable, but he stressed the importance of ignoring these distractions and maintaining a focus on financial success.

“You don’t want people to hate, feel entitled, bother you? Stay broke!! But you know what the good news is, you can still get the bag and not give AF,” he wrote.

  • Church roof collapse in Mexico results in 11 fatalities

Officials said that on Sunday, the roof of a church in northern Mexico fell down and at least 11 people died. Two people were also seriously hurt.

Preliminary reports say that around 100 people were in the building in Ciudad Madero when the incident happened, according to a statement from security services in the state of Tamaulipas. According to Reuters, it was thought that 30 people were trapped under the collapsed debris.

At least 60 people were hurt, and two people were seriously hurt, according to a spokesperson for Tamaulipas security.

Soldiers from the National Guard, State Guard, Civil Protection, and the Red Cross were helping with the rescue mission.

Bishop Jose Armando Alvarez, who is from the Tampico area, said that the church’s roof fell down when people were receiving communion. This was reported by Reuters. He asked other people in the community to pray for the people who survived.

Bishop Armando said in a recorded message on social media that the work to rescue the people trapped under the rubble is currently happening.

  • Foreign forces authorised to enter Haiti by UN Security Council

The United Nations Security Council has approved sending a group of international forces with weapons to Haiti. This is because Haiti is dealing with a lot of gang violence and a situation where the government cannot make decisions.

The Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry, has repeatedly asked for military help, and now a decision has been made to provide this assistance. The United Nations leader and the United States both strongly ask the global community for support with this mission.

Thirteen people in the council voted “yes” to the resolution, but Russia and China didn’t vote either way.

Even though the strong UN Security Council approved it, the force would not officially be controlled by the UN. Kenya has promised to contribute 1000 police officers to lead the mission. Some of the countries near Haiti, like Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, and Jamaica, have also agreed to help with the mission.

The “multinational security support” force will stay in Haiti for one year. We don’t know when it will arrive yet and more countries have been asked to join. The resolution also asks for a worldwide halt in selling weapons to Haiti, except for specific security reasons that are approved.

An advisor to the Haitian Prime Minister, Jean-Junior Joseph, said to CNN that the government is happy about the vote. He also mentioned that they are eager for the mission to fight against overall insecurity.

Fighting gangs are in charge of a big part of Port-au-Prince, which is the main city and port of Haiti. This is causing problems because they are blocking important ways to bring supplies to the rest of the country. Gang members have made the people in the city very scared. This has caused about 200,000 people to leave their homes because of the bad things the gang members are doing, like killing, kidnapping, setting things on fire, and hurting people.

The mission is expected to make local security stronger and help the Haitian National Police fight against the gangs. Haiti’s security forces get help from other countries, but they don’t have enough staff or weapons to effectively do their job.

Addressing the gathering of leaders from countries around the world at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September Prime Minister Henry told other countries that it was really important that the Security Council gives approval for a military mission to bring back calm and order. Henry said that violence has made the situation worse in the country. He also mentioned that inflation is very high, with prices going up by more than 50%. As a result, 4. 9 million Haitians are finding it difficult to afford food, which is a new and disappointing record for the country.

In a statement on the same day, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken asked for help from other countries to support the plan and provide assistance. He said that the US is willing to give strong financial and logistical support.

The Security Council has been stuck in a situation where no decisions can be made because of growing disagreements between different countries. The US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that the decision on Haiti made on Monday was very important and showed that the UN can bring people together to take action.

China’s UN ambassador Zhang Jun said that China has a careful and responsible approach when it comes to using force. In the case of Haiti, China’s decision to abstain from the vote on authorizing the use of force is seen as a positive and helpful stance.

Russia’s representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, criticized the decision to send another country’s armed forces to a different country, even if it is requested by that country. He said this is a serious action that needs to be carefully considered. However, he also mentioned that there are some good parts to the approved resolution.

Both Russia and China said they are okay with the resolution’s ban on weapons.

People that disagree with the mission have said that bad things have happened before with UN peacekeeping missions in Haiti. There were accusations that some peacekeepers did bad things and that they brought a sickness called cholera that killed a lot of people. Some Haitians are unsure about Prime Minister Henry, who became the leader of the country when President Jovenel Moise was killed in 2021.

Henry stated that Haiti cannot hold elections until the country becomes more secure.

The United Nations’ representative in Haiti, Maria Isabel Salvador, said that her office will help with the mission, as long as it follows the rules. She also made it clear that this mission is different from other missions in Haiti and is not run by the UN.

  • Ashaiman residents protest against bad roads

A group named “Concerned Citizens of Ashaiman” is set to proceed with a planned protest on Tuesday, October 3, to draw attention to the deteriorating road conditions in the town.

The decision to protest was made after numerous unsuccessful attempts to have the relevant authorities address the road issues. Freeman Tsekpo, the assemblyman for the Nii Komieteh Electoral area, expressed his concerns about the adverse economic effects of the road situation in the Municipality during an interview with Citi News.

Mr. Tsekpo indicated that they have been promised so many times and can no longer hold on to those promises.

“The assembly members went into negotiations with the Regional Minister, and he promised us that he was going to facilitate the construction of sixteen kilometers of roads in Ashaiman, but this has not happened. After that, the chief of Ashaiman, the Ashaiman MP, the Ashaiman NDC chairman, and some other people attempted to demonstrate and that again ended up in the office of the Regional Minister and another promise was made to fix Ashaiman roads, but that has not been done,” he said.

  • More than 1,000 people have died after Bangladesh’s worst dengue outbreak

Over 1,000 people have died from dengue in Bangladesh’s most severe outbreak ever. Official data shows that the ongoing spread of the disease is increasing as more cases are occurring outside of crowded cities. This spread is being caused by the climate crisis and the rising temperatures.

Since January, over 1,000 people have died from a disease carried by mosquitoes. This disease has affected more than 100 children and there have been over 208,000 infections. These numbers were reported by the Bangladesh Directorate General of Health Services on Monday.

Dengue fever is common in the South Asian country and usually happens a lot during the monsoon season between July and September. However, this year there were more cases starting at the end of April.

Scientists say that the long monsoon season with higher temperatures and unpredictable, heavy rain made it perfect for the Aedes mosquito to breed. This mosquito spreads the dengue disease.

More sick people coming to the hospitals have made it hard to take care of everyone. There aren’t enough beds or enough staff to help them, according to the news.

The number of deaths from the outbreak is almost four times more than last year when 281 people died. In just September, Bangladesh health authorities said there were over 79,600 reported cases and 396 deaths.

There is also a worry that the outbreak may continue into the colder months. Last year, the number of dengue cases was highest in October and the most deaths happened in November.

Dengue is a type of sickness caused by a virus. It makes people feel like they have the flu, with symptoms like severe headaches, muscle and joint pain, high fever, and sometimes internal bleeding and death. This disease spreads to humans when a mosquito infected with it bites them. There is no known cure for the disease.

Dengue, also called breakbone fever, is a common disease in over 100 countries. Each year, between 100 million and 400 million people get infected, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

In the past, outbreaks mostly happened in crowded cities like Dhaka, which has over 20 million people. But this year, the number of infections quickly spread to every part of the country, including rural areas, according to the World Health Organization.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a recent meeting that the UN agency is helping the Bangladeshi government and authorities “to improve monitoring, testing capabilities, patient care, controlling disease-carrying insects, sharing information about risks, and involving the community” during the outbreak.

However, public health experts in the country are urging for more attention to be given to dengue. They want to focus on preventing the disease by detecting it early and providing proper healthcare. This is because getting dengue again can be more severe and may even lead to death.

These requests for action are not just for Bangladesh. As the Earth gets hotter because of burning fossil fuels, illnesses will happen more often in new parts of the world.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of dengue cases worldwide has increased by eight times in the last 20 years.

As the climate crisis gets worse, diseases like dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever that are spread by mosquitoes will probably spread more and affect people’s health even more.

This year, a serious outbreak of dengue has affected South America, specifically Peru, which is experiencing its most severe outbreak ever recorded. The situation in Florida made authorities put several counties on alert. In Asia, there has been a sudden increase in cases in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia, along with other countries. And countries in sub-Saharan Africa, like Chad, have also experienced outbreaks.

According to Abdi Mahamud, the director of WHO’s alert and response team, the outbreaks of diseases are a warning sign of the climate crisis. He also mentioned that an increasing number of countries are facing the challenge of dealing with these diseases.

  • Dzifa Gomashie expresses frustration over persistent flood-related damages

Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Member of Parliament for Ketu South, has expressed her deep frustration with the ongoing struggle to secure assistance for her constituents who continually suffer from the adverse effects of climate change, including floods and related disasters.

During an interview with JoyNews on Monday, October 2, 2023, the MP conveyed her immense distress regarding the difficulties she has encountered in securing sustained support for her constituents.

She emphasized the relentless challenges she has faced since assuming office as MP in 2019, explaining how they have taken a severe toll on her and left her feeling overwhelmed.

“I do not know what I’m going to do. I’m here biting my fingers and praying and asking God why? 3 years going on – 3 years! I have not breathed since 2019. I’m suffocating. I’m drowning,” she lamented.

Additionally, the MP did not hold back in directly criticizing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government, attributing their administration to the redundancy that local government assemblies are currently experiencing.

She also expressed her dismay at the ineffectiveness of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by her constituents, particularly those caused by climate change and recurrent floods over the past three years.

“I am going to answer you and I do not care how it lands in anybody’s ears or heart. President Nana Addo and his government have collapsed not only NADMO, they have collapsed the local government structure.

“This assembly here is so toothless, they cannot even provide a bag of rice or corn. They have not provided one bag of rice or corn in the whole period that this has been going on. Everything you (the president) are collapsing. I wish that I don’t have to raise my voice when I’m speaking but I’m so up my nose in this mess that we find ourselves in, I cannot sleep,” she added.

Furthermore, the Ketu South area has been repeatedly affected by flooding, resulting in the destruction of communities, yet little to no assistance has been provided to her and her constituents in dealing with these crises.

She made a fervent plea to the government, urging them to prioritize the completion of the sea defense wall in the region, as well as in other vulnerable communities like Keta, in order to provide a lasting solution to the challenges faced by her constituents.

In addition, Dzifa Gomashie pointed out that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had recently visited the constituency as part of his campaign to become the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, she expressed disappointment that he had not taken the opportunity to visit the affected people in the constituency during his visit.

  • Gang harvest kidneys to sell to affluent customers – Pakistan police

The police in eastern Pakistan have caught and stopped an illegal group that was taking organs from people. They arrested eight people who were cutting out kidneys from many patients. These kidneys were then given to rich people who needed a transplant. The authorities gave this information on Monday.

The accused gang leader, called “Dr Fawad,” is believed to have performed 328 surgeries on individuals to take out their kidneys and sold them for up to 10 million Pakistani rupees ($34,000) per kidney, according to Mohsin Naqvi, the head leader of Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Fawad supposedly got help from a car mechanic who gave him the anesthesia, according to Naqvi.

The leader of the government said that a group tricked sick people into coming to different locations and secretly did surgeries on them. These places were in Taxila, Lahore, and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.

Naqvi said that they were able to do this in Kashmir because there is no law about kidney transplant. This made it easier for them to perform the operations there.

The chief minister has confirmed that three people have died, but the authorities are still making sure of the information.

“He said there are other actions that have been done, but we have only confirmed this number. ”

Fawad was arrested five times before, but he was let go each time and could continue doing what he was doing, Naqvi explained.

Some patients didn’t know that their kidney was taken out.

The police took about two months to investigate the case after a man said that one of the suspected gang members convinced him to get medical treatment done privately.

Afterwards, when he saw another doctor for more help, the chief minister said that he didn’t have a kidney.

Naqvi is helping the Inspector General of Police of Punjab to make the country’s cyber laws stronger. Their goal is to stop illegal kidney transplant advertisements from being shown on the internet.

“He said we are fully dedicated to monitoring other gangs who are operating in a similar way. ”

In 2007, Pakistan made it illegal to buy and sell organs for money. Then, in 2010, they made a stronger law that says anyone who takes organs from people or sells them can go to jail for up to 10 years and have to pay 1 million rupees ($3,400).

Before the law was passed, the country was a hub for foreigners and rich people from Pakistan who were looking to buy organs. Kidneys were bought and sold regularly, and some poor Pakistanis even sold their kidneys to make money for their basic needs.

However, the illegal act of performing kidney transplants without authorization is still happening. Local news outlets have said that this trend of illegal kidney transplants has reemerged in recent times.

  • Numerous Jamaican students hospitalised after consuming cannabis candies

Officials said that over 60 young students from an elementary school in Jamaica had to be taken to the hospital on Monday. They had eaten candy that had been mixed with cannabis without realizing it.

Minister Fayval Williams, who is in charge of education and youth, informed CNN that none of the kids, ranging from 7 to 12 years old, seem to be in severe condition according to doctors.

The candy made the children throw up and see things that aren’t real, as said by her in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). She also mentioned that some kids had to be given medicine intravenously.

More than 60 young students from an elementary school had to go to the hospital. Parents, be cautious and vigilant. A young boy said he only had one piece of candy. “This product is very powerful. ”

The minister also said on X that she went to the hospital where the children were getting treatment, and she mentioned that the doctors and nurses are doing everything they can to help the students get better.

Williams put up a picture of some candy. The candy was packaged in a colorful package that had all the colors of the rainbow.

The packaging said the product has Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol, also called delta-8 THC, which is a mind-altering substance found in the Cannabis sativa plant. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website says that marijuana and hemp are two kinds of the Cannabis sativa plant.

According to the US agency, it has effects that can alter your mind and make you feel drunk.

The minister also showed a picture of a candy package with a government warning on the back. The warning said that the candy should be kept away from children and it is not meant for people under 21 years old.

The package said that the product did not have approval from the FDA.

Jamaica made it legal for people who are 18 years old or older to have a small amount of cannabis. If they have 2 ounces or less (which is about 56 grams), it is considered a minor offense.

  • US and Philippines begin joint military exercises as tensions with China grow

The United States military started two weeks of joint exercises with its Philippine allies and other international partners on Monday. This is happening at a time when there are growing tensions between Manila and Beijing over disagreements about land and waters in the South China Sea.

Maritime Training Activity Sama Sama 2023 is a big event where different countries like Australia, Canada, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia are coming together with the US and the Philippines to practice and train. This is the seventh time it is happening and it will be the biggest one yet. This information comes from a press release by the US Navy.

The activities near the Philippines will involve practicing how to fight against submarines, ships, and aircrafts, both on the water and on land.

Captemphasized that the phrase “Sama Sama” in Tagalog means “together” and it perfectly represents the essence of this exercise. Sean Lewis, leader of the US Navy’s Destroyer Squadron 7, mentioned in the statement.

“He said that if we work together, we can deal with many types of security problems. By getting more countries involved, we can come up with new ideas and create a strong and unified force that keeps the region stable. ”

The situation in the region is becoming less stable because Chinese coast guard and maritime militia units are having confrontations with Philippine vessels around disputed areas in the South China Sea.

The head of the Philippine Navy, Vice Admiral, said that ‘Samasama’ helps us to confront various dangers together, including protecting our territory and fighting against crimes that occur across borders. According to the state-run Philippine News Agency (PNA), Toribio Adaci Jr. said these words during the opening ceremonies in Manila on Monday.

Last week, Gilberto Teodoro Jr. , who is the defense secretary of the Philippines, had a special interview with CNN. The writer compared Chinese actions in the area to a bully in a schoolyard.

There have been some recent events that have made people in the region worried. For example, Chinese water cannons stopped a Philippine military outpost from getting supplies. Also, a Filipino diver managed to cut through a floating Chinese barrier all by himself. Earlier this year, the coast guard of the Philippines accused a coast guard ship from China of using a powerful laser to shine into the eyes of some of its crew members, causing temporary blindness.

“This is the most obvious example of bullying I can think of,” Teodoro stated. “It’s not about taking your lunch money, but it’s about taking your lunch bag, your chair, and even kicking you out of school. ”

The Philippine president promises to protect the country’s land and says he is not seeking problems.

China’s Foreign Ministry told CNN that the ongoing conflicts at sea between China and the Philippines are mostly because the Philippines keeps causing problems and spreading incorrect information.

China says that Philippine boats are entering its territory in the Spratly Islands, even though a ruling by an international tribunal in 2016 said that Beijing’s claim is not valid.

China says that it has complete control over almost all of the South China Sea, which is a very big area, and the islands and sandbars in it. They even claim control over places that are far away from the Chinese mainland. The Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, and Taiwan also have different claims.

Sama Sama has over 1,800 people from different countries participating, including people from warships in the Philippines, the US, the UK, Japan, and Canada. The exercises will happen in the Southern Luzon area of the Philippine Naval Forces. The headquarters will be on the Pacific coast of the country, which is around 300 miles southeast of Manila. It is also around 560 miles away from the Spratly Islands.

  • Gold mine collapse in Zimbabwe claims lives of 10 individuals

Rescue teams in Zimbabwe are still looking for people who are alive, even after three days, there was an accident in an old gold mine in the Chegutu district. Sadly, 10 illegal miners have died.

According to a provincial official named Marian Chombo, around 42 workers were trapped underground when the Bay Horse Mine in Chegutu collapsed on Friday.

According to the locals, 21 people have been saved and they think 10 more are stuck in the debris.

Ten people have died, according to the reports. State media reported that a few of the dead bodies were discovered trapped under rocks.

On Saturday, Constantino Chiwenga, who is Zimbabwe’s Vice President, said that as many as 13 people may have died from the accident.

Chiwenga said that the government will help pay for the funeral of the person who died.

The miners went into the mine, which is about 150 meters deep, by using unauthorized entry points.

Chombo requested help from mining companies in the province for the rescue operations.

She said that the mines have knowledge and other machines and tools that could be useful.

Many people in Zimbabwe work as small-scale miners. Zimbabwe has lots of gold and diamond deposits. Accidents happen often in southern African country due to illegal mining sites.

In 2019, rescuers found the bodies of around twenty illegal gold miners in a flooded mine located in a rural area of the Mashonaland West province.

  • Dialysis crisis: Closure of unit of Korle Bu in May led to 14 renal patient deaths

The Renal Patients Association disclosed that a total of 14 outpatients from the renal unit at the renowned Korle Bu Teaching Hospital succumbed to their conditions after the unit was abruptly closed to them in May 2023.

The spokesperson for the Association, Michael Asante, addressed the media during a press conference held in Accra on Monday, shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding these deaths.

According to Asante, the demise of these patients was primarily attributed to their inability to access crucial dialysis treatment at private dialysis centers, a dire situation exacerbated by the closure of the hospital unit. He further explained that the patients were compelled to resort to private facilities where the cost of dialysis treatment far exceeded the rates offered at the hospital, making it financially burdensome for them to continue their essential medical treatments. This heartbreaking revelation underscores the pressing need for accessible and affordable healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable patients who depend on these life-saving treatments.

“As we speak, the renal unit has been closed since 22 May 2023 up to date to outpatients,” Asante said. “Patients have gone through turbulent times as we struggle to finance our dialysis treatment at private dialysis centres across the centres. Unfortunately, during this shutdown period, we have lost about 14 of our friends…This has left the rest of us living in constant fear for our tomorrow. This is because we do not know who amongst us will be next to lose their lives needlessly.”

Asante appealed to the government to waive the costs of dialysis treatment for renal patients and to include these cases in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The Ministry of Health has taken a strong stance against the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s management for unilaterally raising the fees for dialysis services without following proper procedures, including seeking approval from Parliament or the ministry itself.

This condemnation came in response to reports that kidney failure patients seeking dialysis treatment at the hospital’s Renal Unit were subjected to a substantial fee increase, with the new charge amounting to GH765, a significant jump from the initial fee of GH385.

The ministry has acted swiftly by summoning the hospital’s management to provide explanations for implementing the revised fee structure without adhering to the required legal and procedural protocols. Isaac Offei Baah, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, decried this fee revision as “illegal” during an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, emphasizing the importance of due process in such matters, especially when they directly affect the healthcare and financial well-being of patients.

  • Alan vrs NPP: The divorce that can make or unmake the elephant Family – Richard Dela Sky

While the NPP has a history of resilience and adaptability, and transitions can lead to rediscovery and renewal, there’s no denying the immediate challenges this exit poses. It could potentially result in internal divisions, loss of supporters, and a need for the party to work harder to regain its electoral appeal.

In the ever-evolving minefield of politics, every move, every speech, and every decision carries profound implications. The recent resignation of Mr Alan Kyerematen, a prominent figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, has sent ripples through the political landscape. Such departures have the potential, as they have done in the past, to reshape the political narrative and redefine the fortunes of political parties.

In this short note, I sought to delve into the repercussions of Alan Kyerematen’s exit from the NPP and the subsequent response from the party’s leadership. I expended words dissecting the allegations made by Alan Kyerematen and the counterarguments presented by the NPP, examining – briefly – the potential impact on the party’s unity, voter base, and prospects in the critical 2024 elections.

    Alan Kyerematen’s Allegations:

    1. Alan Kyerematen alleged at a press conference yesterday that the National Council of the New Patriotic Party made unconstitutional decisions regarding the Super Delegates Conference.
    2. He claimed that the Super Delegates Conference was strategically skewed to favor one aspirant.
    3. Alan Kyerematen asserted that the Party had been hijacked by a selected group of leaders and government appointees and behind-the-scenes power brokers.
    4. He mentioned concerns of intimidation against his supporters.

    NPP’s Response:

    1. The NPP, at a press conference today, stated that the National Council’s decisions regarding the Super Delegates Conference were in accordance with the Party’s Constitution and historical precedents. They emphasized that the National Council did not violate the Constitution by voting against certain proposals.
    2. The Party argued that the demand by petitioners for delegates to vote for five persons instead of one was unconstitutional. They highlighted that a democratic process was followed, with a significant majority of the National Council voting against both proposals.
    3. The NPP rejected the assertion that the Party had been hijacked by a privileged few. They explained that the Party had decentralized its electoral college to include a larger number of delegates, thus broadening participation and defeating the claim of hijacking by a selected group.
    4. The NPP refuted allegations of intimidation against Alan Kyerematen’s supporters by pointing out that government appointees who openly supported him remained in their positions without facing intimidation.

    Strengths of NPP’s response:

    1. Acknowledgment of Contributions: The statement starts by acknowledging Alan Kyerematen’s contributions to the party and expresses gratitude for his services. This shows a degree of respect and appreciation for his role in the party.
    2. Explanation of Party Decisions: The statement provides explanations and legal references to counter some of the claims made by Alan Kyerematen in his resignation speech. This helps to clarify the party’s stance on certain issues.
    3. Call for Unity: The statement emphasizes the importance of unity within the party and encourages party faithfuls to remain committed and dedicated to the NPP’s goals. This promotes party cohesion and solidarity.

    Gaps in NPP’s response:

    1. Lack of Empathy: While the statement acknowledges Alan Kyerematen’s contributions, it could have expressed empathy or regret for his decision to resign. A more empathetic tone could help maintain a sense of unity within the party and among supporters.
    2. Missing Clarifications: Although the statement attempts to clarify certain issues raised by Alan Kyerematen, it does not address all the concerns and allegations made in his resignation speech. Addressing all relevant points would be more comprehensive and convincing.
    3. No Mention of Reconciliation Efforts: The statement mentions that the National Chairman visited Alan Kyerematen, but it doesn’t provide details about any reconciliation efforts or discussions that might have taken place. Sharing such efforts could demonstrate the party’s commitment to resolving internal disputes.
    4. No Mention of Future Plans: The statement doesn’t outline any plans or strategies to move forward or to fill the gap left by Alan Kyerematen’s resignation. Providing a vision for the party’s future could inspire confidence among party members and supporters.
    5. Lack of Outreach: While the statement addresses party faithful, it doesn’t extend a message or outreach to the broader public or potential voters. Sharing the party’s vision and objectives beyond internal matters could be more inclusive.

    Conclusion

In summary, the NPP’s response to Alan Kyerematen’s resignation contains some strengths in terms of explanations and calls for unity, but it also has yawning gaps in terms of empathy, addressing all concerns, outlining future plans, and reaching out beyond party members. A more comprehensive and empathetic response might help the party navigate this internal challenge more effectively.

Without any doubt, Alan Kyerematen’s exit from the NPP undeniably carries a substantial risk of negatively affecting the party’s fortunes in the 2024 elections. Only zealots who are decidedly naive will poo-poo the potency of this risk. His departure, without any doubt, leaves a void that may be challenging to fill, given his significant influence within the party and his popularity among certain segments of the electorate.

While the NPP has a history of resilience and adaptability, and transitions can lead to rediscovery and renewal, there’s no denying the immediate challenges this exit poses. It could potentially result in internal divisions, loss of supporters, and a need for the party to work harder to regain its electoral appeal.

In politics, uncertainty is a constant, and it’s essential for the NPP to acknowledge and address these challenges head-on. While there is an opportunity for rejuvenation, there is also a substantial risk of a negative impact on the party’s performance in the upcoming elections. The ultimate outcome will depend on how the NPP navigates this period of change and whether it can effectively rally its members, rebuild its battered image, and connect with voters in 2024.

While retaining the keys to the Flagstaff House in next year’s polls seems virtually an impossible task, largely because of the government’s failure – so far – to deliver the Ghana Beyond Aid promised by Nana Addo, politics teaches us that not all is lost until all is lost. As such, the party may want to invoke the wisdom of its respected former chair, B.J. da Rocha (of blessed memory) who scribbled to the following words to the media in the immediate aftermath of Alan Kyerementen’s first resignation from the NPP in 2008:

“In light of this latest statement, it is my considered view that it will not be in the best interest of the NPP to receive Mr. Alan Kyeremateng back into the party’s fold. He will become a disruptive factor in the party, a stumbling block, a loose cannon. The party has an election to win. We should concentrate our efforts on the task ahead and let him go his way in peace.”

  • “Sit Kenedy Agyapong and Wontumi down to settle their issues”- Carlos Ahenkorah to NPP elders

The Member of Parliament for the Tema West Constituency, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has urged the Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to intervene and resolve the discord between Kennedy Agyapong and Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

He believes that it would be in the best interest of the political party for discussions to take place with both individuals, especially considering the allegations made by Kennedy Agyapong against Chairman Wontumi, who is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party and a flagbearer aspirant.

“It will be imperative that party elders sit Kenedy Agyapong and Wontumi down and settle whatever issues they have. They can’t be seen washing their dirty linen in public. Kennedy Agyapong should understand his standing in society now and should water down some utterances.

“Kennedy is a man of his own because he is self-made, but no one can change him. He should understand where he is now and the kind of comments he makes. They should not sit down and bring peace. I’ve seen a publication that suggests Wontumi will hit back at Ken and that will give us out to the NDC. We should not sit and watch for this to happen.

Kennedy and Wontumi are both firebrands, so if we want the party to enjoy some peace and break the eight, Ken and Wontumi must be called and spoken to,” he said on UTV.

    Background

Kennedy Agyapong has charged the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman with being responsible for the NPP’s demise.

He claims that Wontumi is slowly destroying the NPP by intimidating the party’s executives and members who disagree with him.

  • Alan’s exit will make the NPP more stronger for the battle ahead- Kofi Amankwa

The Deputy Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma, Kofi Amankwa, stated his conviction that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will maintain a strong and united front in advance of the 2024 general elections.

He said this during an interview with OnuaOnline on Monday, October 2, 2023. This was in spite of recent developments within the party.

He sought to alleviate concerns that Alan Kyerematen’s departure from the party might lead to a disintegration of the NPP’s substantial support base, particularly in the Ashanti region.

“In every organisation, some will leave, others will also join. It is sad to see Alan left the party but, it will make us even more stronger for the battle ahead,” he told William Evans-Nkum.

Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a four-time hopeful for the party’s presidential candidacy, made the decision to withdraw from the presidential primary scheduled for November 4. Subsequently, he resigned from the NPP, formally ending his association with the party.

Kyeremanten, expressing his dissatisfaction with the NPP’s internal processes, cited a perceived attack on his supporters as a key reason for his withdrawal and resignation.

He criticized the Election Committee of the NPP for not taking corrective measures against the alleged mistreatment of his supporters during the special delegates’ conference held on August 26.

Furthermore, Kyeremanten pointed out the unprecedented level of monetization observed during the initial phase of the party’s presidential primary, describing it as a departure from the historical practices of the NPP’s internal elections.

  • Becoming rich at a young age affected my mental health – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian Highlife artiste Kuami Eugene has revealed the mental challenges he faced after being exposed to wealth at a young age and how public criticism affected him.

In a live interview with radio show host Kojo Manuel, he revealed that he felt mistreated by critics who, in his opinion, should have considered his youth and the challenges that came with his newfound wealth.

This revelation sheds light on the emotional toll that fame and success can have on young artists, especially when they face intense public scrutiny and criticism.

Kuami Eugene’s openness about his experiences underscores the importance of mental health awareness and support within the entertainment industry, where young talents often find themselves navigating both success and challenges.

He stated, “I made a lot of mistakes when I was young; blowing up as a young guy wasn’t easy. At the age of 19, they should have considered the fact that ‘Oh, he is a young boy.’”

Kuami Eugene described the rapid transition from having nothing to suddenly having substantial wealth, including being paid for shows and driving a Range Rover. In his opinion, the public did not empathize with his situation.

“To move from not having anything to taking this amount for a show, to driving a Range Rover. I’ve never had all these before, all within a very short period. That wasn’t fair on the side of the public. They didn’t reason that he is a young boy and he is getting all this money,” he said.

Kuami Eugene’s rapid rise to stardom began at the young age of 19 with the release of his debut song, “Angela,” in 2017. Following that, he continued to release a series of hit songs, including “Ohemaa,” “Wish Me Well,” and “Open Gate,” while being signed to Lynx Entertainment Records.

In October 2022, Kuami Eugene made headlines when he announced that he had signed with the American record label “Empire Records.” This announcement led to speculation that he had left Lynx Entertainment. However, Lynx Entertainment clarified that he had not departed the label and that the new signing with Empire was part of a “strategic partnership.” This move signaled a significant development in Kuami Eugene’s career as he explored new avenues for his music on an international level.

  • 4 causes of itching after bathing

Itching after bathing can be caused by various factors, and it’s essential to identify the underlying cause to address the issue effectively. Here are four common causes of itching after bathing:

    1. Dry Skin: One of the most common reasons for itching after bathing is dry skin. When your skin loses moisture due to hot water, harsh soaps, or long showers, it can become dry and itchy. Using mild, moisturizing soaps and applying a good-quality moisturizer after bathing can help alleviate this type of itching.
    2. Skin Allergies: Some people may be allergic to certain ingredients in soaps, shower gels, or shampoos. Contact dermatitis, a skin condition caused by an allergic reaction, can result in itching, redness, and sometimes a rash after bathing. Identifying and avoiding allergens or switching to hypoallergenic bath products can help reduce this type of itching.
    3. Hard Water: Hard water contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium, which can leave residue on your skin after showering. This residue can contribute to dryness and itching. Installing a water softener or using skin-friendly bath products can help mitigate the effects of hard water.
    4. Hot Water: While hot showers can be soothing, they can also strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and itching. Opting for lukewarm water rather than hot water and limiting the duration of your showers can help prevent this type of itching.

It’s important to note that if itching persists or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms like rashes, hives, or swelling, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a proper evaluation and diagnosis. They can provide personalized guidance and treatment options to address your specific condition.

  • You have been induced with money- Efia Odo lashes out Diana Asamoah for supporting the current govt

Ghanaian actress and socialite Efia Odo has criticized gospel musician Diana Asamoah for her response when asked about the economic hardships that citizens are facing in the country. According to Efia Odo, Diana Asamoah cannot speak the truth about the current state of the Ghanaian economy because she has been influenced by money.

Efia Odo went on to describe Diana Asamoah as a Christian who lacks the Holy Spirit, accusing her of spreading falsehoods to the public despite being aware of the hardships in the country. This criticism highlights a difference of opinion between the two personalities regarding the economic challenges faced by Ghanaians, with Efia Odo expressing her frustration at what she sees as a lack of honesty in the discourse.

“Diana Asamoah has had an encounter with money so now the Holy Spirit has left her and she’s unable to speak the truth. When the Holy Spirit dwells within, you are able to speak the truth no matter how painful it is !!! God is watching.

“Does she [Diana Asamoah] really know what’s going on in the country? Does she understand what we’re fighting for? What does this image have to do with greed and envy?” Efia Odo wrote on X in reaction to Diana Asamoah’s remarks on the state of the Ghanaian economy.

“The whole world is in a crisis, a lot of the hardships also rest on our actions. I have always maintainedEfia Odo expressed her frustrations with Diana Asamoah after the gospel musician praised the Akufo-Addo-led government for introducing initiatives such as free senior high school (SHS) and other projects. Diana Asamoah’s statement, suggesting that the citizens’ attitudes need to change for economic hardship to be alleviated, seems to have sparked Efia Odo’s criticism.

Efia Odo’s response underscores the ongoing public debate and differing opinions about the impact of government policies and the overall state of the Ghanaian economy. Her frustration with Diana Asamoah’s perspective on the matter reflects the diversity of viewpoints and the passionate discussions surrounding the economic challenges faced by the country’s citizens. that even if Jesus becomes president and we don’t change our attitudes, we won’t have it right,” she said on United Showbiz programme on September 30, 2023.

“The Bible talks about blessings for the truthful and that those in haste won’t have it well,” she stressed.

Kuami Eugene and Sarkodie have collaborated on several songs, including “No More,” released in 2019, and “Honey,” also released in 2019.

Kuami Eugene clarified that he was not aware of any endorsement and expressed discomfort with the song being associated with a political party. This incident highlighted the potential impact and sensitivity of music in the context of political affiliations and public perception in Ghana’s music industry.

  • Ghana does not offer favorable conditions for young entrepreneurs to prosper- Mawuli Gavor

Mawuli Gavor, an actor and the CEO of Play Club Ghana, has expressed his concerns about what he perceives as an unfriendly business climate in Ghana. He believes that the country does not provide a conducive environment for businesses to flourish, particularly for young entrepreneurs.

During an upcoming episode of Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz, hosted by Amelley Djosu, the actor discusses his perspective on the challenges faced by businesses in Ghana. He highlights that this unfavorable business climate is discouraging young individuals from taking the initiative to establish their own start-ups. Gavor’s remarks shed light on the obstacles young entrepreneurs encounter when trying to launch and grow their businesses in the country.

“Ghana doesn’t provide the kind of fertile ground that you’ll need to come in and flourish as a business owner. I won’t lie. Ghana is not hospitable in that way. However, if you can find a way to persevere through those obstacles, then the business opportunities are immense, and they’re great,” he said.

Mawuli Gavor emphasized that the unpredictable exchange rate is significantly affecting businesses, especially those that rely on imported raw materials. He recounted that when he started building Play Club Ghana, the exchange rate was six Ghana cedis to the dollar. However, within a few months, the rate more than doubled, causing instability and challenges for businesses.

Gavor believes that such exchange rate fluctuations can hinder innovation and disrupt new business plans. Nonetheless, he noted that his ability to forge partnerships with dependable companies has been instrumental in keeping his business afloat.

The leadership of customers affected by the now-defunct Menzgold Company Limited has approached former President John Mahama, seeking his assistance in recovering their funds that remain locked within the illicit gold dealership and investment firm.

These customers have endured significant hardships since the company’s closure in 2018, with 217 individuals losing their lives and some experiencing blindness and mental health challenges as a result.

Now, these customers are appealing to the former President to guide their efforts in securing financial aid from the government to alleviate their dire circumstances.

During a meeting held at Mr. Mahama’s Cantonments office on Friday, Mr. Fred Forson, the group’s leader and spokesperson, passionately implored Mr. Mahama, emphasizing the gravity of their situation and their urgent need for a government bailout.

“We believe that when Your Excellency adds your voice, it will help. Where we are now, we need a bailout from the state, so we humbly call on you to lead us in calling on the state to give us a bailout plan. Because life is very, very unbearable for us”, he cried out.

The Menzgold customers convener added, “The state has wasted over four years on this small matter. There was no action. I am sure everybody will attest that it was the resilience of the customers — we kept on pressing, pressing — and now the Attorney-General has moved the matter from the lower court to the High Court. However, the civil aspect, which is the retrieval of our money, is still pending.”

President Mahama extended his condolences to the victims, characterizing it as one of the most unfortunate incidents in the nation’s history. He believed that such fraudulent schemes often find success due to the government’s inadequate regulatory oversight, making it responsible for citizens who become victims.

Additionally, he questioned why the government had not yet taken control of the company’s accounts, seized its assets, and conducted auctions to allocate a portion of the proceeds toward reimbursing customer investments.

In response to the appeal from Menzgold’s customers, President Mahama pledged his commitment to support their cause and amplify awareness of their plight. He urged the government to be transparent and provide comprehensive information regarding its efforts to address the situation.

With the backing of the former President, the customers hold hope that they can retrieve their funds and recover from the losses they have endured.

  • Self-destruction as Kennedy Agyapong ‘destroys’ the NPP again

Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament and a contender for the flagbearer position in Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been making allegations and criticisms that some view as potentially damaging to his own party. Agyapong has accused the NPP of widespread corruption, suggesting that party members are engaged in looting public funds and stashing them abroad.

These accusations, while aimed at the NPP leadership, can also be seen as potentially undermining the party’s image and credibility.

“The way the NPP is looting this country, you will think there is no tomorrow. You steal all this money and stash same abroad, what do you mean?” he is heard stating in a video clip that has been shared widely on social media.

“The youth of this country are not working yet you are intimidating people. I will put my life on the line and defend them,” he stressed.

Furthermore, Agyapong has not shied away from criticizing the internal dynamics of the NPP. He has claimed that the National Council of the NPP, the party’s key decision-making body, has been compromised and turned into a rogue entity by certain regional chairmen. Specifically, he has singled out figures like Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, and accused him of employing disruptive tactics.

In the lead-up to the NPP’s flagbearer selection process, Agyapong’s criticisms and allegations could be seen as contributing to internal divisions within the party. These divisions may potentially weaken the NPP’s unity and cohesion as it prepares to choose its leader and face upcoming elections.

It’s essential to note that these statements and allegations by Kennedy Agyapong are viewed by some as harmful to the NPP’s image and unity, and their impact on the party’s internal dynamics and electoral prospects will depend on how party members and leadership respond to these challenges.

  • A Plus criticises Wendy Shay for saying her accident was a spiritual attack

Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has made a startling claim regarding her recent accident, suggesting that it was not a mere accident but a deliberate spiritual attack. The accident left her with injuries, including a nasal bone fracture and facial inflammation.

What adds intrigue to her statement is her belief that the accident was orchestrated by individuals with the intention of shifting the blame onto her manager, Bullet.

This revelation has raised questions and cast a shadow of suspicion over the circumstances surrounding the accident, turning it into a more complex and unusual situation. Wendy Shay’s assertion suggests a belief in spiritual interference rather than a conventional accident.

In an interview with Andy Dosty, Wendy Shay said, “Those who wanted to kill me, they know themselves, and they’re trying to put it on Bullet. It wasn’t Bullet. It wasn’t a normal attack. What I can say is that they know themselves, but I am not going to mention their names. But they can never kill me.”

Kwame A Plus, during a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz, expressed disagreement with Wendy Shay’s assertion that her accident was a deliberate spiritual attack. Instead, he commended Wendy Shay and her manager, Bullet, for their efforts in generating discussions and keeping the musician in the spotlight following the accident. It appears that A Plus believes the accident should not be attributed to spiritual forces but rather sees it as a means of garnering attention and publicity for Wendy Shay and her career.

“We cannot say it is spiritual. It is all for the hype. First Bullet said he would be flying her to Germany for treatment. Now they are saying that it is spiritual. They know what they are doing. It’s called a stunt, and they are doing it well,” he said.

  • Brymo explains the reason for demanding sex before collaborating with Simi

Singer Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, widely recognized as Brymo, has described his previous request for a sexual relationship with fellow singer Simi as an “artistic pursuit.” This statement comes after Brymo ignited controversy by revealing in a voice note posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he had requested a sexual relationship from Simi in exchange for a music collaboration.

However, his remarks didn’t sit well with Simi’s husband, singer Adekunle Gold, who publicly warned Brymo to “stay away” from his wife and to “stop disrespecting” his family. Brymo’s characterization of the situation as an “artistic pursuit” suggests that he may have viewed the request as part of his creative process or artistic expression.

However, in a recent interview with TVC, Brymo defended his sexual advances towards the “Tiff” singer describing it as “an artistic pursuit.”

He said, “One day I was somewhere and I met Adekunle Gold, I was just like, ‘Oh! Gold.’ The first time I was ever meeting him. And he requested a collaboration… When he came to me, I just said flatly, ‘Oga, I’m not doing any collaboration right now.’

“Two weeks after, Simi came. I didn’t know they [Simi and Adekunle Gold were together]. I’m sure you all know about Falz. He took the fall that I was supposed to take. I was the target… But I’m a smart guy.

“When I saw her [Simi], I said no features except I am laying with the woman I am working with so it can really be intense. Did she not sleep with Adekunle Gold? Is that not why the music is extra good? But she said no, and I was like okay, bye-bye, and then she left.

“She wasn’t the only one I proposed it to. But guess what? I’ve made music with seven women. I didn’t sleep with anyone of them.

“After that incident, I’ve recorded songs with four women. We didn’t even have that [sexual] conversation at all. We just made music. So, it wasn’t about me asking for sex for collaboration. No, no, it wasn’t about that. For me, it was an artistic pursuit.”

  • Duane Keith Davis charged with the murder of Tupac Shakur

The murder of Tupac Shakur, which has remained a defining tragedy in hip-hop for over 25 years, has seen a significant development. Duane Keith Davis, who has openly claimed his involvement in the drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur, was indicted on a murder charge, according to Las Vegas prosecutors.

Duane Keith Davis, also known as “Keffe D,” has publicly stated in interviews and in his memoir that he was in the front passenger seat of the white Cadillac that approached Tupac Shakur’s vehicle after a 1996 prizefight in Las Vegas. The rapper was shot four times and passed away in the hospital less than a week later.

A grand jury in Clark County has indicted Mr. Davis on one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, along with a gang enhancement. He is currently in custody without bail.

Despite extensive speculation, evidence, and reporting over nearly three decades, no charges had been filed in the shooting of Tupac Shakur, who was one of the most prominent artists of the 1990s, known for his tracks that added poetic depth to confrontational gangster rap. The case was reignited in July when the Las Vegas police executed a search warrant at a residence in Henderson, Nevada, linked to Mr. Davis. This recent development reopens the investigation into the murder that has haunted the music industry and hip-hop community for decades.

Marc DiGiacomo, a chief deputy district attorney in Clark County, said in court on Friday that Mr. Davis was the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Mr. Shakur and the attempted murder of Marion Knight, the rap mogul known as Suge, who was driving the car holding the rapper.

It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Davis had a lawyer.

In his 2019 memoir, Mr. Davis, who goes by the name Keffe D, recounted a gang dispute that escalated after Mr. Shakur and his associates beat up Mr. Davis’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, following the boxing match at the MGM Grand hotel.

“Them jumping on my nephew gave us the ultimate green light to do something,” Mr. Davis said in the memoir, “Compton Street Legend.” “Tupac chose the wrong game to play.”

According to a copy of the indictment filed in Clark County District Court, prosecutors have accused Mr. Davis of obtaining a gun with the intent of seeking retribution against Tupac Shakur and Marion “Suge” Knight. The indictment also alleges that he passed the weapon to either his nephew or another person in the Cadillac with the intent of committing the crime. Notably, Mr. Davis is the sole surviving occupant of the vehicle.

Prosecutor Marc DiGiacomo acknowledged in court that the basic details of what transpired that night were known to the police as early as 1996. This indictment sheds new light on the long-standing case and may finally bring about a resolution to the tragic murder of Tupac Shakur, an event that has captivated the music industry and hip-hop community for decades.

“What was lacking was admissible evidence to establish this chain of events,” the prosecutor said, noting that Mr. Davis then began to describe his role publicly. “He admitted within that book that he did acquire the firearm with the intent to go hunt down Mr. Shakur and Mr. Knight.”

At a news conference on Friday, the Las Vegas police confirmed that Mr. Davis’s own words reinvigorated their case, starting with a television appearance he made in 2018. “We knew at this time that this was likely our last time to take a run at this case,” Lt. Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

Mr. Davis had avoided directly naming the person who opened fire in recent interviews. But in a taped confession released by a former Los Angeles Police Department detective who investigated Mr. Shakur’s murder, Mr. Davis told the police that it had been Mr. Anderson, his nephew, who was known as Baby Lane.

Mr. Anderson was questioned by officers investigating Mr. Shakur’s death but was killed in a shooting in 1998.

In his memoir, Mr. Davis, who has also been known as Keefe D, said that after the shooting, the men abandoned the car and walked back to the hotel, picking the vehicle up the next day and taking it back to California. It was cleaned and painted before it was returned to the rental agency days later, Mr. Davis said. By that point it was “too late for any forensics to be accurate and reliable,” he noted.

  • Sister of Tupac Shakur calls new murder charge a ‘pivotal moment’

Sekyiwa Shakur, Tupac‘s sister, views the indictment of Duane “Keffe D” Davis on a murder charge related to the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur as a significant and pivotal moment.

Tupac Shakur, the iconic New York-born rapper, was tragically shot four times and killed at the age of 25 in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas.

On Friday, a grand jury in Nevada officially indicted Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who is now 60 years old, on one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

Sekyiwa Shakur acknowledged that “today is a victory” in the long quest for justice for her brother’s murder but wisely noted that she would “reserve judgment” until the legal proceedings are complete. This development marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Tupac Shakur, a case that has captured the attention of the public for decades.

“It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son,” she posted on Instagram.

“There have been multiple hands involved and there remains so much surrounding the life and death of my brother Tupac and our Shakur family overall. We are seeking real justice, on all fronts,” she continued.

Mopreme Shakur, Shakur’s step-brother, said the charging of Mr Davis was bittersweet.

“We have been through decades of pain,” he told CNN. “They have known about this guy, who been running his mouth, for years.

“So why now? For us, this is not over. We want to know why, and if there were any accomplices.”

According to the police, Mr. Davis allegedly orchestrated the deadly shooting of Tupac Shakur after his nephew was involved in a fight with Shakur at a casino. Mr. Davis was taken into custody near his Las Vegas residence early on Friday and is expected to appear in court in the coming days. The Las Vegas police (LVMPD) have released his mugshot.

In court proceedings, prosecutor Marc DiaGiacomo described Mr. Davis, a former leader of the South Side Compton Crips street gang, as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who allegedly “ordered the death” of Tupac Shakur. This legal development sheds new light on the decades-old case and represents a significant step in the pursuit of justice for Tupac Shakur’s murder.

  • First lady of Gabon accused of money laundering

Sylvia Bongo, the wife of Gabon’s deposed president Ali Bongo, has been charged with money laundering, receiving stolen property, forgery and using forged documents.

However, deposed President Ali Bongo, whose tenure was rife with corruption allegations, was released by the military junta and allowed to travel abroad for medical treatment if he wished.

  • Burkina Faso marks one year of military rule with dozens of events

A rally in support of the military is taking place in Burkina Faso to mark the first anniversary of the coup that brought Captain Ibrahim Traoré to power.

It comes after authorities announced a failed coup attempt on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people gathered at Place Nationale in the capital Ouagadougou and several other towns, responding to calls by organizers that foreign forces were behind the attempt to overthrow the government.

One of the protesters’ main demands is the adoption of a new constitution. Amid speeches of support and performances by artists, the flags of Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali and Guinea could also be seen as signs of solidarity with other military-led countries in West African. Protesters staged a spontaneous demonstration on Tuesday night to express solidarity with the authorities, amid rumors of splits in the armed forces and a possible counter-coup .

Four officials were arrested in connection with the reported coup plot.

The junta came to power after two military coups last year, fueled in part by a worsening Muslim insurgency linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group.

But Burkina Faso’s military leaders have so far struggled to contain the situation, despite promises to fight unrest. Rebel attacks have increased in the country, threatening the stability of the wider West African Sahel region.
