  • Russian general’ returns from dead after Black Sea Fleet attack

The admiral from Russia, who people thought was dead after Ukraine said he was hit by a missile, has shown up again for the second time.

On Monday, it was announced that the leader of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, Viktor Sokolov, was one of 34 officers who died in a missile attack in Sevastopol, Crimea.

The videos and pictures taken by witnesses, along with satellite images, clearly show that the main building of the fleet has been damaged.

However, Russian state media aired a video the following day claiming to show Sokolov alive. This led Ukraine to state that they were trying to confirm whether he was actually deceased.

Sokolov looked happy and healthy as he spoke to reporters today. He was at a ceremony for the Black Sea Fleet’s football team.

A local news channel called First Sevastopol showed a video of Sokolov answering a reporter’s question about the attack during a press conference.

“He asks what happened to us. ” ‘Nothing bad occurred to us. Life continues
However, he doesn’t mention anything about how 33 of his friends on the ship died in the explosion.

In another video shown on Zvezda, a TV network controlled by the Russian Ministry of Defence, the admiral proudly states that his fleet is accomplishing the missions assigned to them.

He mentioned that the 810th Marine Brigade, which is a group of soldiers in the Black Sea Fleet, received a special honor called the Order of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov.

The highest military award is named after a commander from the 18th-century who was a great naval leader and never lost a battle. He was also chosen as the patron saint of the Russian navy.

Sokolov said that everyone knows our marine Infantry’s accomplishments are always shown on television.

But there is no proof of when the footage was recorded. According to the media, Sokolov supposedly spoke at a ceremony celebrating Chernomorets Sevastopol’s victory in the Russian Armed Forces Championship.
But, the Crimean Football Union said that the team won the tournament on September 18.

Sevastopol said that Sokolov supposedly claimed the ceremony was canceled because he was too busy and that it would be rescheduled for a later date.

FC Chernomorets Sevastopol posted some pictures of Sokolov at the event on the club’s Telegram account today. He can be seen lifting a trophy up to celebrate the club’s win.

The event took place at the Yekaterininsky Hall of the Officers’ House of the Black Sea Fleet.

Today, the football team received a special award from the Black Sea Fleet Commander, Admiral Viktor Sokolov.

The players thanked the leader of the Black Sea Fleet for being involved in the football club and gave him a special ball with signatures from the champions.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the governor of Sevastopol in Russia, announced on August 29th that the 810th Brigade had received a military award. He shared this information in a post on the messaging app Telegram.

Ukraine’s special forces said on Monday that they have killed Sokolov in the attack last week.

Yesterday, Russia’s Ministry of Defence shared a picture of Sokolov participating in a meeting with high-ranking defence officials from a distance.

The video shown on state media has been changed a lot to make it look like the commander is in it many times.

Just a few minutes ago, a Russian news agency called TASS quoted a Kremlin spokesperson named Dmitry Peskov. He told reporters that he doesn’t know anything about the supposed death of Sokolov, the commander of the Black Sea Fleet.

  • ‘Lightning’ strikes an electric car manufacturing factory and causes huge explosion

A lightning hit a storehouse and caused a big boom, killing one person and hurting many others.

Security cameras recorded the exact moment when lightning struck a warehouse close to Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan very early this morning.

The strike caused a big explosion, which made the building catch on fire.

The explosion broke nearby buildings and flats. Many windows were broken. Even the nearby Quruvchilar subway station got a little damage.

The explosion caused car alarms to go off and buildings to shake. A big cloud of smoke and fire illuminated the sky.

16 groups of firefighters went to the place where the fire happened. The ministry in charge of handling emergencies in Uzbekistan did not mention what was in the building. However, Russian state media Tass said there were many electric cars and batteries in the warehouse.

  • TEWU and other university unions demand payment of allowances within 2 weeks

The Tertiary Education Workers Union (TEWU), alongside two other university unions, namely the Senior Staff Association of the University of Ghana (SSA-UoG) and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), has issued a stern ultimatum to the government. They demand the restoration of their withheld allowances within a two-week timeframe.

Dr. Beth Offei-Awuku, the National President of GAUA, conveyed their concerns during a press conference held in Accra. She emphasized that the non-payment of these allowances has inflicted undue hardship upon their members, making the situation unsustainable.

In the event that the government does not comply with their demand and restore the allowances by October 15, 2023, these unions have threatened to initiate a withdrawal of services across all public universities in the country.

On a separate note, Organised Labour has issued a directive to its members, urging them to follow proper channels when planning and organizing demonstrations. This includes seeking police approval for such actions. Joshua Ansah, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), underscored the importance of adhering to the correct procedures, emphasizing that it provides the necessary authorization for carrying out protests.

“We are a law-abiding organisation. We normally write to the police the number of days that is required which is five days to the police,” Ansah said.

“The police also have the duty to respond. If they are satisfied with all the arrangements, the routes, the destination, the starting points, and the time of closing, I think that they can give us the go-ahead.”

“I don’t think the police would dream of stopping us from having our demonstration or strike after we have informed them in accordance with the law,” he stated.

  • British woman passes away in Majorca while undergoing cosmetic surgery

A woman from the UK has passed away after getting a beauty procedure done in Majorca island.

The woman, whose name is not known, had a medical procedure done at a private hospital in Palma in the middle of September. The surgery was performed by a doctor who worked in the main city and had also been to different countries in Europe.

During the operation, some problems happened and she was quickly taken to the Son Espases University Hospital in Palma. Unfortunately, she passed away a few hours later.

We are not sure about the specific kind of cosmetic surgery that the woman had.

A court on the island is now looking into how she died, and the family went to Majorca to manage her body.

Investigators will now find out if her death happened because of medical mistakes.

But the Majorcan newspaper Ultima Hora described the surgeon as someone who has worked in Palma and other European countries for many years.

The police or court officials have not said anything official about the death yet.

This image is of a hospital called Son Espases University Hospital in Palma de Mallorca. A man from Britain has been found to have the coronavirus there on February 9, 2020.
We don’t know if the family told the island authorities about their complaint or if an investigation started even without telling them.

This has happened before when a British woman died in Turkey from cosmetic surgery.

Melissa Kerr, a 31-year-old woman from Denton in Norfolk, passed away after a cosmetic procedure known as a ‘Brazilian butt lift’ went wrong. During the procedure, which took place in Istanbul on November 19, 2019, fatty material entered Melissa’s veins and caused her death. The procedure cost £3,200.

She went to the Medicana Haznedar hospital for the procedure.

Jacqueline Lake, the main coroner for Norfolk, mentioned during the investigation that she will contact the health secretary to express her worries about individuals going abroad for cosmetic procedures.

She said: ‘Ms Kerr did not see a surgeon or doctor before the procedure and only had a brief evaluation beforehand. A message has been sent to surgeons all over the world warning them about a high number of deaths related to this operation. In simple words, the UK has decided to temporarily stop allowing this procedure, and it is not compulsory.

She said: ‘People in Turkey are not following these clearly. ‘ I am worried that patients are not being told about the dangers or the chance of dying from this surgery. I am worried that more people might die in the future, but I believe that we can prevent those deaths by providing better information.

  • Brutal police statement of British man’s death by stabbing in Portugal

The police in Portugal said that a British engineer stabbed and killed another person at a festival. After being arrested, the engineer did something disrespectful to the person’s body.

A 27-year-old man named Josh James Menkens was sent to prison yesterday after being asked about the death of a 37-year-old British man. The British man died after a music event organized by Menkens at a distant community in Portugal.

The detectives did not say anything about the investigation after other British people told them about the very horrible crime.

However, in a very detailed statement last night, they explained how Menkens, who is from Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, is accused of hiding his victim’s body after brutally attacking him in a forest near the location of the four-day festival known as the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party.

At first, it was believed that the person died while playing a dangerous game called Blue Whale. However, the investigators later confirmed that this was not the cause of death.

The alarm was raised on Sunday morning when some people from England went to a police station in a town called Figueiró dos Vinhos in Portugal.

The police say that they have arrested a man in the town of Soalheira. He is accused of killing someone and disrespecting a dead body. The police had help from the Pedrogao Grande police force.

The person who was accused of a crime is from another country and they planned a party on a remote piece of land. They took the person who was harmed to a forest area that was far away from other people. They had a knife and used it to harm the person with very strong force, stabbing them in many different areas of the body, which led to their death.

After the suspect killed someone, they hid the body by using branches from trees and clothes.
Here is a simplified version of the text: The story goes on: ‘The person who was harmed was a man from another country who was 37 years old. He had come to Portugal to take part in the activity and it seems that he didn’t know the person being accused personally.

We don’t know why the crimes were committed yet, but it doesn’t seem like they have anything to do with games or online challenges.

The person who is 27 years old was at his first meeting with the judge where they decided to keep him in jail while they investigate.

The place where the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party happened is owned by Xavier Hancock, who went to public school, and his partner Arantxa Atauri from Spain.

There is no evidence that the couple had anything to do with the stabbing that happened early Sunday morning.

Earlier this week, Mr. Hancock mentioned that since this investigation is still ongoing, he will only respond to questions from the authorities whom we are working closely with.

‘If they show the proof, I might share the story. ’

A promotional advertisement for the festival said it would be a fun event with good music and friendly people. It asked people to be nice to themselves, each other, and the environment.

Tickets cost €50 (£43) and included four nights of camping at the event. However, guests were also given the choice to upgrade their accommodation to luxurious camping options called ‘glamping’, which could cost up to £120.

Investigators found a knife next to the dead body of the 37-year-old person. The body and the knife were left in a small open area in the forest.

There might have been an examination done on Monday in the city of Coimbra, but the findings have not been shared with the public.

A person who knew Menkens talked about how surprised he was when Menkens got arrested.

The person who owns a nature-based vacation place where the British person stayed to relax from their busy job said: “He stayed here for a week and afterwards we had a casual business relationship, where we tried to help each other find small independent work opportunities. ”

‘We were aware that he was from the UK and had a very hectic schedule, working 50 to 60 hours a week. He needed to take some time off and unwind. ‘

He said, “When I met him three years ago, I thought he was a really good guy in his mid-twenties. ”

We got along well, he liked our daughter and the animals on the farm, and he had a great time here.

‘He was a little man with a large smile, and he didn’t give off any signs of aggression. ‘
Josh’s dad, Troy, talked to Mail Online yesterday and said: ‘I got a surprise call from him late Sunday night. ‘

My son was speaking very fast and confusingly, talking nonstop and saying things to me. I was trying to stay relaxed and figure out where he was being kept and how I could go there.

The businessman from Australia said, “When I received a call, I was surprised and gathered my thoughts. I asked, ‘Where are you. Which police station. ‘” Then, I booked a flight and took a taxi there the following morning.

I didn’t know a lot about the festival. I knew he was coming for a festival but didn’t know any specific information about it. I wasn’t worried because he has never done anything to make me worried.

  • I’d prefer Shatta Wale to Stonebwoy – Samini

Ghanaian musician Samini has weighed in on the ongoing debate between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy about who is the best in their craft in the country.

Samini expressed his preference for Shatta Wale, citing Shatta Wale’s longevity in the music industry and his ability to establish and maintain his popularity over the years.

He acknowledged that Stonebwoy is a talented artist but emphasized that Stonebwoy is still in the process of establishing himself and would require more time to reach the same level of recognition.

Samini shared his perspective during an interview on TV3’s DayShow hosted by Berla Mundi.

    Berla: Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale?

Samini: He comes from my era and I think he has more under his belt than Stonebwoy. He [Stonebwoy] is still coming up, no disrespect.

Samini also stated that he would choose M.anifest over Sarkodie in terms of which artiste is the best at rapping.

“I’d choose M.anifest over Sarkodie because he is a better rapper with deep and better lyrics. No disrespect to anyone and devoid of personal sentiments. But those two rappers M.anifest is in a different league of his own altogether,” Samini said in an interview with TV3.

Samini who was asked to choose between two artistes in every category went ahead to choose KiDi over Kuami Eugene citing the fact that KiDi is more appealing to the international audience.

“I think they [KiDi and Kuami Eugene] are two different but similar artistes in a lot of ways. But I see KiDi appealing more to a beyond Ghana audience, whereas Kuami Eugene not to say he doesn’t appeal to a beyond Ghana audience, but he is a staunch, direct, know-flavor, kind of Afrobeat.

“When you hear Kidi, you can tell there’s the ‘Dadabee’ flavor in there. When you hear Kuami Eugene, you can tell there’s the raw flavor in there. But well produced,” said Samini.

  • Supreme Court of Israel meets to deliberate on Netanyahu’s future

Israel’s highest court is currently listening to requests to challenge a recently passed law that makes it more difficult to remove a prime minister from office.

Eleven out of the 15 judges in the Supreme Court were listening to the arguments on Thursday. In the next two months, the court will listen to arguments on three cases that question laws made by the Benjamin Netanyahu government this year.

Thursday’s petition has a big impact on Netanyahu personally.

According to the law, only the prime minister or the cabinet with a two-thirds majority can say someone is not suitable to be a leader. This can only happen if the person is physically or mentally unable to do the job. The cabinet’s decision would need to be approved by a two-thirds majority in the parliament, called the Knesset. The amendment is a modification to one of Israel’s Basic Laws, which are similar to a constitution.

The change was approved before the government began making new laws to change the judicial system. This change has caused disagreements in the country and led to protests because people believe it harms Israel’s democracy and makes its judiciary weaker.

The people who spoke in the hearing on Thursday believe that the amendment was passed only to help Netanyahu, who is currently being tried for corruption. They think this is a misuse of the power given to representatives by the people. According to the Supreme Court, this is one reason why they can cancel changes made to a Basic Law. However, the court has never declared a Basic Law or a change to it as invalid.

Yiktzhak Burt, a lawyer representing the Knesset, admitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday that the law in question did personally help the prime minister. However, he argued that the Knesset had the authority to pass it because they were elected by the people, and he urged the court not to cancel the law. He agreed that the law had problems, but they weren’t serious enough to remove it.

On Thursday, Supreme Court President Esther Hayut explained that the court was not talking about canceling the law, but instead delaying when it would be put into effect.

Earlier this month, the highest court in the country listened to discussions about a new law, created in July, that removed its power to prevent government actions judges deem as “unreasonable. ” This law was also an alteration to an important legal rule. The third request is about Justice Minister Yariv Levin not wanting to have a meeting with the committee that selects judges because they cannot agree on who should be in the committee.

Amir Fuchs, a researcher at the Israel Democracy Institute, said to CNN that the Supreme Court is facing more challenges to amendments than ever before.

“We’ve never had so many court hearings happening one after another. ” This situation is a very rare and never seen before crisis in our government’s rules and laws,” Fuchs said.

Before this law was changed, there was no written rule that explained how a prime minister could be kicked out of their position for being incapable of doing their job. However, Fuchs mentioned that there were some previous cases where the attorney general could make that decision.

I think we had a bad deal before. It was not clear or specific enough. “It requested a change,” Fuchs explained. “But it’s very obvious that the reason behind this law was completely personal. ”

This is because people signed papers asking to declare Netanyahu not suitable for his job because of his ongoing trial for corruption. He is the first Israeli prime minister who is currently in office to go to court as a defendant. He is being tried for accusations of fraud, breaking trust, and bribery. He says he didn’t do anything wrong.

As a way to still be the prime minister while being on trial, Netanyahu agreed to declare any conflicts of interest in 2020 as part of a deal with the court.

The attorney general decided that Netanyahu could not participate in decisions that impact the court system, such as the judicial overhaul. Some people argue that certain changes in the overhaul could make it easier for Netanyahu to avoid being punished for corruption.

Earlier this year, the Justice Minister Levin announced that the government has plans to make changes to the judicial system. At that time, Netanyahu said he couldn’t participate or help because of a conflict-of-interest declaration.

But in March, shortly after the change to make it harder to remove a prime minister from office was approved, Netanyahu said he would take part.

“Until now, I haven’t been able to do anything,” said the prime minister. We are in a ridiculous situation where if I had done my job and intervened in the changes to the justice system, I would have been declared unable to continue serving. Tonight, I want to say that I’ve had enough and I cannot accept this any longer. I will participate.

A first meeting with three judges has already taken place for this case. On Thursday, the Supreme Court listened to arguments again. This time, 11 out of the 15 judges were present.

Normally, the attorney general would present the government’s arguments in a hearing at the Supreme Court. However, AG Gali Bahrav-Miara chose not to do so. She agrees with the people who signed the petition that the amendment should not continue, just like she said during the meeting about the law of “reasonableness” earlier this month.

The judges might reject the amendment and say that the parliament misused their power. This means that the legislation is not being passed for regular reasons, but for the benefit of a particular person, which is Netanyahu.

Fuchs observed that the bill was introduced and approved very quickly, and the comments made in parliament clearly indicated that the law was created to safeguard Netanyahu.

The Supreme Court might say that the law is not in effect currently and will only be in effect when the next parliament starts. That could be a solution to a difficult problem in the constitution.

“It helps with most of the problem because if they decide it will only apply in the next Knesset, it means it won’t solve any personal problems for Netanyahu. It also gives the Knesset time to reconsider the arrangement,” explained Fuchs.

The court needs to make its decision by January 12, 2024, because the judges who are handling the case will be leaving their positions.

The court has to make a decision before that time about the petition against the law that removed the court’s power to say government actions are “unreasonable. ” This is a bigger challenge, and all 15 of the current Supreme Court justices are considering the case for the first time. The decision on that request is likely to take more time compared to the decision being discussed on Thursday.

Furthermore, the highest court in the country is set to consider a case about the justice minister’s delay in organizing the group to choose new judges for the Supreme Court. Netanyahu’s government wants to change how judges are chosen in Israel so that politicians have more influence.

The group was supposed to have a meeting last week, but Levin decided to delay it.

“It’s really important, even though it’s about administrative matters and not a complaint against a fundamental law,” Fuchs explained about the challenge. This is because Levin might have to obey a court decision regarding a crucial part of the judicial reform.

However, there could be a bigger problem after the Supreme Court makes its decisions, as Fuchs explained, if Netanyahu and his government decide to ignore them. Despite being asked multiple times by CNN and other media outlets, he has not made a firm decision to obey or comply with their requests.

The government has the power to decide whether to accept this or not. Fuchs explained that just because Netanyahu is avoiding answering the question about whether he will follow the decision, it doesn’t mean he won’t.

  • Taiwan launches its first domestically produced submarine

Taiwan showed off its first submarine made in its own country on Thursday. The leader of the island, a democracy, said this is a big achievement. Taiwan wants to strengthen its military power because it feels that Beijing is becoming more and more of a danger.

President Tsai Ing-wen led a ceremony at the shipyard in Kaohsiung city for a new submarine. They officially named the submarine “Narwhal” in English and “Hai Kun” in Mandarin, which means “sea monster”.

Tsai said that the submarine is an important way for us to protect our country. “It is also an important tool for our naval forces to create unique combat strategies. ”

In the past, a lot of people believed that creating a submarine that belongs to our own country would be really hard to do. “But we succeeded,” she included.

The ceremony was an important and special moment for Tsai. She started an important defense plan to build Taiwan’s first submarine soon after becoming president in 2016.

Taiwan’s defense leaders want the submarines to make it more difficult for China to invade the island. China says Taiwan is part of its territory and has been acting more aggressively in recent years.

Reporters were shown around the place where the submarine is built, but they couldn’t take detailed pictures for safety reasons.

During the ceremony, information about the ship’s size or ability was not shared. Sandra Oudkirk, who represents Washington in Taiwan, was present along with representatives from the Japanese and South Korean missions in Taipei.

Tsai said that building submarines for the indigenous submarine project is very important to her administration.

By 2025, Taiwan will have three submarines. Currently, it has two submarines that were made in the Netherlands and started operating in the 1980s. The new submarine is called “Narwhal”.

Taiwan said they want to make eight submarines by themselves.

China’s Defense Ministry compared the new submarine to a mantis trying to stop a chariot, using a well-known Chinese saying.

Taiwan’s military is getting ready in case China decides to attack. This phrase can be rewritten as: Understand how.

Protecting the group of islands closest to the mainland.

During a meeting that CNN attended last week, Admiral Huang Shu-kuang, who advises Taiwan’s National Security Council and is in charge of the indigenous submarine project, explained that the new fleet of submarines will be crucial in stopping Beijing from blocking Taiwan’s ships by sea.

The Taiwan Strait is not deep enough for submarines, but they can still be very helpful in attacking Chinese warships in the Bashi channel and the waters between Taiwan and Japan’s westernmost islands.

China’s ability to reach the Pacific Ocean is restricted by a series of islands that include Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. To get into the larger ocean, China’s navy would have to go through these important areas.

So Huang said that Taiwan can stop China from showing off its military power by placing its submarines there.

If there is a war, the Chinese navy wants to go to the east of Taiwan to surround and control us, and to make it hard for the US to help.

Submarines can go really deep underwater and are difficult to find, so they have a good opportunity to get close to Chinese aircraft carriers and attack them.

The statement was made by Collin Koh, who is a senior fellow at the S. The Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore stated that the new submarine fleet will make Taiwan more capable of launching a second attack if necessary.

The person said that China is very concerned about the possibility of the US getting involved militarily, so they are preparing for a big naval battle with the US near the Philippine Sea, away from the islands closest to China.

He said that if the people of Taiwan want to help, one way to do that is to keep the PLA Navy trapped within the first island chain. This will prevent them from coming out and assisting the US military intervention, making it more likely to succeed.

Admiral Huang also mentioned that the submarines can carry torpedoes made in the US, called MK-48, which can be used to attack ships on the surface.

Taiwan has been focusing more on making its own weapons and not depending as much on buying them from other countries. They want to update their military and be able to defend themselves without relying on other countries.

Tsai became the leader of Taiwan when the country was having difficulties convincing the United States and European countries to sell them expensive military equipment.

In recent years, Beijing has been putting more pressure on Taipei and the United States. This includes diplomatic, economic, and military actions. The United States, under both President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump, has approved many big military sales.

But Taiwan’s own military buying plan continues to be an important part of its defense strategy, especially when it comes to weapons like anti-ship missiles that could protect against a possible attack.

In March, CNN went to see a company in Taiwan that makes weapons for the military. The company showed off five new types of drones that they built, which can watch and attack from the air.

Taiwan has successfully built its first submarine. This is important because it could help ease worries about Taiwan’s military readiness, especially as China tries to claim its territory. Taiwan is a democratic island with 23. 5 million people

The Communist Party in China sees Taiwan as their territory, even though they have never governed it. Beijing has always stated that they want to merge the island with mainland China, even if they have to use force. However, the Taiwanese government strongly disagrees with China’s claims to the island.

During Xi Jinping’s leadership, China has increased pressure on Taiwan.

In the past few years, Chinese fighter planes, bombers, and surveillance planes have been flying more and more around the island. Chinese warships have also been crossing the unofficial boundary line in the Taiwan Strait more often.

Last year, China’s military organized big exercises to show their disagreement with a trip that Nancy Pelosi, who was then the House Speaker, made to Taiwan.

During a meeting, Admiral Huang mentioned that Taiwan tried to create a new group of submarines when former president Lee Teng-hui started a special team in 1995. However, they had trouble because the US didn’t want to sell submarines to Taiwan.

The project officially started in 2016, when Tsai became the leader.

He explained that there were many difficulties in making Taiwan’s first submarine because there wasn’t enough money, there were delays because there weren’t enough computer chips available worldwide, and they were worried about China spying on them.

The project had 1,003 people from Taiwan working on it. Most of them helped create the submarine’s design, explained Huang. All the employees were being watched by the military security team to make sure that no secrets were revealed.

Huang mentioned that he was given a budget of $1. 54 billion (NT$4936 billion) to construct the initial ship. Around 60% of the money was used to buy things from other countries and military gear, but he thought that number would go down in the future as Taiwan’s own submarine building industry gets better.

He didn’t want to say which countries gave permission for Taiwan to export things. But he did say that he talked to important military leaders in the US Pacific Fleet, Japan, South Korea, and India.

Once the submarine was revealed, it will go into trials in the ocean next month before it starts working next year.

  • Broken headstones serve as memorial to identify desecrated Jewish cemetery in Belarus

In Belarus, a long time ago, a big Jewish cemetery was turned into a sports ground. The stones from the cemetery were used to make roads and buildings instead.

Many years later, the damaged stone slabs started to appear during the renovation. Now, because of the dedicated efforts of a charity organization from Belarus and the United Kingdom, the headstones will be treated with the proper dignity they deserve as part of a new memorial at the location.

They will build a scary building where the old cemetery used to be in Brest. The building will be made from pieces of old tombstones that have been found in the city and nearby areas over the past 20 years.

Brest, also called Brest-Litovsk, used to be an important place for Jewish people’s lives before World War II. Jewish people started living there since the 14th century. Before the war, over 20,000 Jews lived there. According to Yad Vashem, Israel’s national Holocaust museum, only around 10 people were left after the Holocaust.

Many people think that a lot of people were buried in the cemetery, including important rabbis and wise teachers. However, today there is not much proof that their graves were actually there.

In simpler words, the first part of the destruction started during the war when the Nazis tried to ruin the cemetery by selling the tombstones. The damage kept happening even after the war when the Soviets used religious symbols for construction work. They eventually covered the entire area with asphalt to make a running track and football stadium, according to members of the Jewish community in Belarus. The sports buildings, even though they are in bad condition, are still there and can be used by anyone.

The cemetery was forgotten for a long time, but in the late 1990s, some pieces of the broken stones started to appear again when people were doing construction work in the city.

Debra Brunner, the CEO and co-founder of The Together Plan, a charity leading the memorial project, explained that right now, there is no evidence or indication that it is a cemetery.

In the last few years, many headstones (called matzevot in Hebrew) have been found and saved. They have been taken pictures of, organized, and put into a searchable database in a warehouse. They will become part of a big memorial on the location.

Artur Livshyts, co-director of The Together Plan, says there are 1,287 pieces with writing on them. There are also around 2,000 to 2,500 more pieces without any writing on them. The organization’s US partner is called The Jewish Tapestry Project.

Earlier this year, Livshyts, who is one of about 20,000 Jewish people living in Minsk, Belarus, received a message from a young couple. The couple had recently purchased a run-down house in Brest that had been vacant for over 20 years.

Brunner said that the house was in really bad shape, but they still purchased it with the intention of fixing it up. While doing construction, they found out that the basement was made from gravestones. After the war, the family who lived in this house used the matzevot as materials to build with.

After the family had a lot of bad things happen to them, people believed it was because of a curse from the headstones, according to Brunner.

“When the new couple found the markers for graves, they felt a strong urge to do what was right, so they contacted the Jewish community in Brest to ask for guidance. ”

Brunner and Livshyts want to build a memorial by the end of 2024. The memorial will remember the community that was tragically destroyed and teach people about Brest’s current Jewish community.

The memorial will be placed in a corner of the area, far from the sports facilities. The place will have a black rock with words in English, Russian, and Hebrew. The area around it will have trees, grass, and pretty flowers. The Brest municipality is in favor of the idea and has promised to take care of it once it becomes available, as stated by The Together Plan.

The mayor of Brest’s office has not replied to CNN’s request for a comment on the project yet. Belarus, led by President Alexander Lukashenko, is facing criticism from the international community for its involvement in Russia’s war in Ukraine and crackdown on civil society.

The charity thinks it needs to collect about $325,000 for the memorial. Some of this money has already been promised by a donor named Stephen Grynberg, who has a close connection to Brest’s Jewish history.

Grynberg’s dad, Jack, was one of a few Jewish people in Brest who made it through the Holocaust. The filmmaker from Los Angeles told CNN that many of his family members were killed by the Nazis.

During the 1990s, Grynberg interviewed Holocaust survivors for the Shoah Foundation. The foundation was created by Steven Spielberg, a famous Hollywood figure, to capture and document their experiences. After seeing how impactful the work was, he convinced his dad to talk about his experiences during the war, and they went back to Brest together.

“I had a deep experience during that trip,” said Grynberg, who is 60 years old, when talking to CNN. I found out that there were 70 to 100 family members in this town and they all died. Dad’s ancestors from both sides, his siblings, his parents’ siblings, and his extended family. His entire extended family, except for his immediate family, were killed.

He said that in 1997, there were no indications of the cemetery. We were brought to that place and our guide told us ‘this is where the cemetery used to be. ‘ Understanding things about the Holocaust is difficult, you can only have powerful and complex emotions about it. I was just thinking about the possibility of them destroying a cemetery and constructing something on top of it. I felt very empty inside.

In 2015, Grynberg went back to Brest. He learned about headstones appearing during construction and met with Brunner and Livshyts.

Grynberg asked a designer named Brad Goldberg to create a plan for the memorial. Goldberg’s family had helped Grynberg’s father when he came to the US, so he knew him well.

“I’m not certain, but I don’t think any of my family members are buried in this cemetery because my ancestors lived in Brest,” Grynberg said. He explained that his grandparents had moved to Brest, so it’s likely that his relatives were buried in a different place in Belarus. These are all the people who were buried there before the war. It feels like my connection to this town is more important.

He explained that the goal is not to copy a cemetery, but to make sure that people buried in this place are respected and honored.

During a phone interview with CNN, Goldberg explained that his design consists of two big curved shapes that create a big area on the location. This area will showcase some of the damaged stones.

“I named it a hug,” he said. This hug is for the gravestones that are still whole.

“It’s not a graveyard,” he said. All of them are looking in different ways, like they are talking to each other.

We asked one rabbi what it was about, and he said it’s more about life than death.

Livshyts said to CNN: “This will finally put the stones to rest, right where they should be. ” I think it’s a fair outcome based on past events.

He said that even though the actual bodies cannot be found, they can bring back the stones and place them where the cemetery used to be.

  • Nagorno-Karabakh to cease exist after Azerbaijan’s victory in 2024

From next year, the self-declared republic of Nagorno-Karabakh will no longer exist. This is because the president made a decision to shut down all government offices after being defeated by Azerbaijan.

Last week, the Azerbaijani win caused a large number of Armenian people living in Nagorno-Karabakh to leave, and it also brought an end to many years of fighting.

President Samvel Shahramanyan’s order requires all institutions and organizations in the Republic of Artsakh, which is not recognized internationally, to shut down by the beginning of next year.

The Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) has officially stopped existing, according to a statement shared on Facebook by the Artsakh government.

Shahramanyan said the decision was made because the military and political situation is currently very difficult.

Azerbaijan’s campaign went on for 24 hours, until both sides agreed to a ceasefire arranged by Russia. As part of the ceasefire, Karabakh’s armed forces were disbanded. However, the Azerbaijani president strongly emphasized that the government of Artsakh should also disband itself. The president warned that if they did not comply, the attack would persist until it was completely finished.

The decree said that Azerbaijan needs to allow the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to freely and without any problems go through the Lachin corridor with their belongings and vehicles.

Nagorno-Karabakh is a region that is part of Azerbaijan, but it has been running its own government independently for many years. After a sudden and quick attack by Azerbaijan, where at least 200 people died and many more were hurt, the government in Baku stated that they have regained control of the area. This seems to have put an end to a conflict that has been going on for over a hundred years.

Azerbaijan has always been clear that the Armenian people living there had to decide between staying and becoming citizens of Azerbaijan or leaving. Most people have decided to leave their family home instead of being ruled by Baku.

In the past week, more than half of the people in Nagorno-Karabakh have moved to Armenia. This happened because Azerbaijan opened the Lachin corridor, which is the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. This allowed the people to leave.

Around 60,000 people have entered Armenia from the border by Thursday morning. Many of them were in a very bad condition, as mentioned by Samantha Power, who works for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She visited the town of Kornidzor on Tuesday.

Nagorno-Karabakh has been cut off from the outside world for 10 months because Azerbaijan-backed activists created a military checkpoint on the Lachin corridor. They have stopped the import of food, medicine, and fuel to the country. CNN interviewed people who live in Stepanakert, the main city of the region, before the attack. These residents shared that they had to spend a lot of time waiting in a queue every day just to get their daily amount of bread.

Power said on Tuesday that the recent military attacks have made a very bad situation even worse. Doctors at the scene reported that many of the people who had arrived were extremely hungry and malnourished.

  • Mr Drew reacts to Kuami Eugene’s claim of writing 80% of his hit song, ‘Case’

Renowned Ghanaian musician and dancer, Mr Drew, has indirectly commented on the unexpected revelation made by Kuami Eugene concerning the production of the chart-topping song “Case.”

Kuami Eugene, often referred to as the “Rockstar,” made a surprising disclosure during a recent interview with Naana Donkor Arthur during a Facebook live session. He claimed a substantial role in the song’s creation, stating that he was responsible for crafting the catchy hook and a significant portion of the second verse.

In the interview, Kuami Eugene disclosed, “Mr. Drew’s song, ‘Case,’ I wrote the hook and some part of the second verse. I wrote like 80 percent of that song. In fact, before he came to record the song, that hook and everything was already done. He heard it and sang it back. So, I do writing for other artists as well.”

This revelation has sparked a conversation within the music industry, especially given the success of “Case.” Kuami Eugene hinted at a desire for due recognition and respect for his creative contributions.

He further elaborated, “It’s quite unfortunate that this is the platform I have to use to send a message to Mr. Drew, urging him to do what he needs to do because the song is doing exceptionally well. That hook is undeniably great. Even if I had performed it solo, it would have still become a hit song because I composed it with the same energy and passion as ‘Wish Me Well.’ He’s like a brother to me, and I believe we should strive to acknowledge and respect each other’s contributions within the industry so we can all progress individually.”

Kuami Eugene also expressed disappointment in the communication surrounding the song’s release. He recounted, “All I heard from him was something like, ‘Bro, the song, should we drop it?’ This happened while I was in America, and due to the time difference, I was asleep. When I woke up, he hadn’t informed my manager or anyone else. Later, the second person present during the song’s recording texted me to inform me that Drew had released the song. I texted Drew to inquire, and he left my message unread.“

There appears to be some sort of subtly hilarious response from Mr. Drew amid the social media uproar as discussions about this revelation continue.

Drew posted a cryptic message on Twitter, saying, “Come again,” a message that many have interpreted as a statement stating Kuami Eugene is lying.

  • Italian actress Sophia Loren hospitalized due to a fall

Oscar-winning Italian film star Sophia Loren, widely celebrated as a national icon and one of the 20th century’s enduring cinematic legends, recently underwent surgery following a fall at her residence in Geneva, according to her spokesperson.

The operation, conducted on Loren, who is 89 years old, was reported to have proceeded successfully, and she is now in need of rest for her recovery.

While specific details about the incident were not disclosed, Italian media sources corroborated the incident, indicating that Loren had sustained a hip fracture due to an accidental fall at her Geneva home on Sunday.

Sophia Loren’s illustrious career includes winning two Academy Awards. The first, in 1961, was for her poignant portrayal of a wartime mother in Vittorio De Sica’s neo-realistic masterpiece, “La Ciociara” (Two Women). Her second Oscar was a lifetime achievement award conferred upon her in 1991.

Throughout her career, Loren shared the screen with renowned actors, such as Marcello Mastroianni, with whom she collaborated on several memorable and successful films.

Marcello Mastroianni, her Italian co-star, passed away in 1996. Additionally, she worked alongside Hollywood luminaries like Cary Grant, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Newman, cementing her legacy as an iconic figure in the history of 20th-century cinema.

Her most recent starring role was in 2020’s “La Vita Davanti a Se” (The Life Ahead).

In it, she plays a former prostitute and Holocaust survivor who looks after children of working prostitutes in the southern Italian city of Bari and helps an orphaned Senegalese migrant boy who had robbed her.

It was directed by her son, Edoardo Ponti.

The Sophia Loren Restaurant, a chain of establishments bearing her name, posted the initial information about the fall and hospitalisation on its Facebook page.

It stated that she had been preparing to debut a brand-new one in Bari, Italy’s fourth, on Tuesday.

  • NAGRAT calls for the abolishment of the double-track system

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is advocating for the abolishment of the double-track system and the reinstatement of the academic calendar in second-cycle schools to the previous three-term structure.

In 2018, the Ghanaian government introduced the double-track system as a response to the surge in demand for second-cycle education following the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy. However, NAGRAT argues that the existing double-track system brings about uncertainty and has a detrimental impact on the well-being of education workers. Currently, approximately 40 percent of second-cycle schools in the country continue to operate under this system.

NAGRAT’s call for the removal of the double-track system reflects concerns about its effectiveness and the challenges it poses to the education sector, and the association is advocating for a return to the traditional three-term academic calendar to address these issues.

Speaking at a press conference attended by national executive members of the association on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, President of NAGRAT, Angel Carbonu, stated, “The double track has brought about its attendant challenges and problems, especially for teachers. Teachers in schools were teaching across tracks, and as a result, most teachers in the senior high schools did not have holidays or rest periods. This situation puts untold and undue pressure on the staff of our schools.”

He added, “what we are running right now is putting an untold burden on our teachers, who are regularly going to the hospital for care, and who are spending a significant portion of their meagre salaries to cater for themselves. Moreover, the current system lacks certainty in our schools, as parents and students cannot determine when schools would reopen or go on vacations.”

Mr. Carbonu announced NAGRAT’s position, stating, “we call on the Ghana Education Service to revert the school term to three terms, change the period from one hour to 40 minutes, and ensure that we have schools based on the promise they made that the double track was going to end within five years.”

He emphasised that in addition to teachers, non-teaching staff is also suffering under the current system, which forces them to work continuously throughout the year.

Mr. Carbonu also issued a warning that the association would take further action if their demands were not met.

  • Korle-Bu addresses kidney dialysis price hike concerns

The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has addressed concerns regarding the reported increase in the cost of renal dialysis, which has surged from GH¢380 to GH¢765.42. This price adjustment, proposed by the renal dialysis unit, has sparked significant public outcry due to concerns over the affordability of this crucial medical treatment.

In response to these concerns, the hospital’s management has clarified that the proposed price revision is still pending consideration and approval. The responsibility for forwarding this proposal to Parliament for deliberation and approval lies with the Ministry of Health, and as of now, it has not yet been officially endorsed.

This statement from KBTH aims to provide clarity and transparency regarding the status of the proposed cost increase for renal dialysis, emphasizing that it remains subject to the necessary regulatory processes before implementation.

“It is only after the due parliamentary approval that any revised fee will be implemented,” the statement noted.

The management of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has expressed understanding and empathy towards the challenges faced by renal dialysis patients in light of the proposed cost increase. In response to these challenges, KBTH has reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with various stakeholders and philanthropists, as it has consistently done over the years, to provide support in subsidizing dialysis reagents and services.

KBTH has specifically commended the efforts of First Sky Group, which, over the past eight years, has been instrumental in offering free dialysis treatment to more than 200 patients annually. This generous gesture has significantly contributed to improving the survival rates and enhancing the overall quality of life for renal patients in the region.

Dialysis is an essential and life-saving treatment for individuals suffering from kidney failure. It serves the critical function of removing waste products and excess fluid from the bloodstream when the kidneys are unable to perform this vital task. However, due to its considerable cost, accessing dialysis treatment can be financially burdensome for many people in Ghana. Therefore, KBTH’s commitment to collaboration and support is crucial in ensuring that those in need can continue to receive this life-sustaining medical care.

  • GWCL successfully completes 500m Kpong-Tema pipeline rehabilitation project

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has successfully completed the replacement of 100 meters of the Kpong-Tema transmission pipeline, a vital component of the over 50-kilometer-long pipeline network.

This replacement was carried out within the planned schedule and has significantly restored the integrity of this essential pipeline, which facilitates the transmission of treated water from the GWCL’s Kpong treatment plant to its booster station located in Tema.

The decision to replace this 42-inch diameter pipeline, which had been in service for over half a century, was part of a gradual approach adopted by the GWCL to overhaul the entire pipeline stretch over a specified period.

The recent 100-meter replacement contributes to a total of 500 meters (equivalent to 0.5 kilometers) of pipeline that the company has rehabilitated since 2021.

In the preceding year and earlier in the current year, two separate 200-meter pipeline rehabilitation projects were undertaken by the GWCL, one in Gbetsele, Ashaiman, and the other around the Ensign area in Kpong.

During the recent site visit by the company’s management to these sections where pipeline replacements were underway, engineers were observed diligently putting the finishing touches on the installation of the new pipes to facilitate the resumption of water supply to the eastern part of Accra.

The replacement of the pipeline commenced on Sunday, September 23, 2022, and was successfully completed on early Wednesday morning. During this period, over two million consumers in the affected areas experienced water supply interruptions. The total cost incurred by the GWCL for this pipeline replacement project amounted to over GH¢4 million. Stanley Martey, the Public Relations Officer of the Company, provided this information to the media during a briefing on the project.

“To change the entire pipeline from Kpong to Tema is capital extensive and the GWCL does not have the money to change the entire stretch at a go.

“What we are doing currently is that we have identified the weaker sections of the pipeline and changing them from time-to-time with our internally generated funds and our own expertise,” he said.

According to him, the replacement of out-of-date and dilapidated pipelines were not limited to the Kpong-Tema stretch but other facilities across the country to maintain the integrity of the pipelines and to improve on its water supply operations.

“Throughout the country, we have similar challenges, weak and leaking pipes and so we are doing the same thing in all other operational areas all from our internally generated funds and with our own engineers,” he said.

He declared that the GWCL would not waver in its commitment to providing its customers with high-quality potable water processing and transmission.

Mr. Martey pleaded with the company’s clients to be patient while they fixed the pipes and urged them to pay their bills on time so that the business could fulfil its mission.

  • Largest Irish narcotics haul ever discovered following ship raid

Irish police have said that the recent discovery of over two tonnes of cocaine off the coast of Ireland is the biggest drugs capture in the country’s history.

Officials found 2,253kg of drugs after they took control of a ship called MV Matthew, which is registered in Panama, and kept it to investigate on Tuesday.

Officials said the cocaine was worth around €157m (£136m) when sold on the streets.

Garda Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly said that a dangerous South American cartel group provided the drug.
The top soldiers from the Army Ranger Wing attacked the boat with help from the Navy, Air Force, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and customs officers.

Mr Kelly said it was a very important and widespread operation involving several countries, including the United States, UK, France, and Portugal, working together to fight drug trafficking.

He said the drugs were going to Ireland and other parts of Europe.

Three older men, aged 60, 50, and 31, were taken into custody as part of the operation.

The boat had around 25 people working on it and the police said that more people might be arrested and they will continue searching.
A big group of different agencies worked together after they received a warning that a fishing boat got stuck on the east coast on Sunday night.

The boat asked for help, so different groups like the Irish Naval Service, police, a lifeboat crew, and a Coast Guard helicopter came to assist.

Two men were rescued and brought to safety from the sinking ship.

It is stuck on a sandy area near the coast of Rosslare in County Wexford, which is in the south of Ireland.

Irish TV station RTÉ shared that a rescue mission turned into a big security operation.

The Irish Defence Forces asked for help and sent a ship, two helicopters, and two planes.

The Irish authorities had been following MV Matthew for a few days.

  • Woman saved from floodwaters during Storm Agnes

Firefighters saved a woman from a river that was full of water after a storm called Agnes brought lots of rain and strong winds to the area in County Londonderry in Ireland.

Pictures of the rescue show a car underwater on Mulnavoo Road in Draperstown.

The lady was brought to Antrim Area Hospital, where she received medical care for being too cold and feeling very scared.

The first storm of the season, called Storm Agnes, came to Northern Ireland around lunchtime. It caused problems for certain flights, ferries, and power lines.

About 1,700 people in Northern Ireland, including those in Poyntzpass in County Armagh, do not have electricity because of the bad weather.

The weather agencies, the Met Office and Met Éireann, gave warnings about the weather and said there might be problems with traveling.

In Ireland, really strong winds caused a number of trees to fall down in Cork and Dublin.

In the town of Youghal by the sea in County Cork, a building on Front Strand lost part of its roof due to strong winds.
The Cork Council said that the road was closed and the gardai (Irish police) and fire service were keeping an eye on the situation.

Met Éireann has decided to continue their strong wind warning for the counties of Cork, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford until 7:00 PM on Wednesday.

There is a weather warning for rain in Cork, Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Kerry, and Waterford until midnight. There is also a warning for wind in Leinster, Munster, and Galway during the same time.
There is flooding in Cork and the council is telling drivers to stay away from flooded areas.

Storm Agnes: What do you need to know. Storm Agnes: What information do you need.

On Wednesday afternoon, several flights at Belfast City Airport were canceled. Additionally, there have been issues with P&O Ferries on their route between Larne and Cairnryan in Scotland. The boats that were supposed to leave at 4:00 PM were cancelled, and the next boat that is supposed to leave at 8:00 PM might be delayed.
In Northern Ireland, there is a warning for rain until 8:00 pm and a warning for wind until 7:00 am on Thursday.

The Met Office said that some places could get a lot of rain, up to 30mm (1. 2in) in just a few hours. Other areas, like the Mournes and Sperrins, could get even more rain, up to 50mm.

This might cause more floods as the storm moves towards the north and east.

The strongest wind in Northern Ireland has been 57mph, measured at Glenanne in County Armagh.

In Ireland, there were very strong winds of 72mph (116kmph) recorded on Sherkin Island in west Cork.

There was a lot of rain today, with some places getting 20-25mm.
The rain warning in Northern Ireland will end at 20:00. After that, there will still be heavy showers with thunder in the evening, but they will gradually stop before midnight.

Most of the night will not have much rain.

The powerful winds will calm down for a while tonight, and the wind will start to blow in a south-west direction.

Get ready for the wind to get stronger again and stay strong throughout the night.

But the stronger winds will move towards western counties, coasts, and hills, but they won’t be as strong as earlier in the day. They will be around 40 to 45mph.

  • Travis King detained by the US after being expelled by North Korea

Officials have confirmed that Travis King, a US soldier who escaped to North Korea from South Korea in July, is now in the custody of the United States after being sent back by the authorities in Pyongyang.

Private King was taken into the custody of the United States in China and then taken by plane to a military base in the United States.

The person, who was 23 years old and had a job in gathering information, entered North Korea in July without permission.

North Korean media stated that he ran away because he was treated badly and experienced racism in the US military.

A high-ranking official from the government said on Wednesday that after a lot of effort in discussing and negotiating with others, Pvt King has been brought back to the United States and has talked to his family.

The official said that Pvt King is really happy to be going back home and he is really excited to see his family again.

We will help him with a process to restart his life, taking care of his health and emotions, so that he can be in a good state to be with his family again.

The person in charge said that the US did not give up or make any compromises to free him.

After US officials met Pvt King in Dandong, a city on the Chinese border, he was flown to a US airbase in South Korea by a state department aircraft.

Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the state department, said that it was anticipated for him to come back to the United States on Wednesday afternoon.

Travis King’s desertion and deportation: What we know Here’s what we know about Travis King’s decision to leave his post and be sent back to his home country.

On Wednesday, North Korea’s news agency announced that the country had chosen to remove Pvt King but did not provide any more information.

The government of North Korea has decided to send US soldier Travis King back home because he entered the country without permission. This is being done in accordance with the laws of North Korea.

Pvt King joined the army in January 2021 and recently served in South Korea as a part of a unit change.

Before going to North Korea, he was kept in custody for two months in South Korea for attacking two people and damaging a police car. He got out of jail on July 10th.

He was supposed to go back to the US to face consequences for his actions, but he escaped the airport and joined a guided tour of a village called Panmunjom on the heavily guarded DMZ between the US and another country. Pvt King entered North Korea during the trip.

The senior official said they will first make sure he gets a medical check-up before deciding on any possible punishment or administrative actions.

A top official from the US government said that they found out earlier this month that North Korea planned to free Pvt King.

Swedish officials went to North Korea and took Pvt King to the border with China, where he met US ambassador Nicholas Burns. China helped in a positive way, but they did not get involved in settling the issue.

“The pieces needed to come together fast,” said the American official.

Because the US and North Korea do not have official diplomatic relations, Sweden’s embassy in Pyongyang has usually acted as a mediator for the US.

A spokesperson from the Swedish embassy said that Sweden was helping the US in North Korea to protect their interests.

Jonathan Franks, who speaks for Pvt King’s mother, Claudine Gates, said in a statement that she will always be thankful to the US Army and its partners for doing a great job.

The message said that Pvt King’s family does not plan to give any interviews “in the near future”.

His family has told the media in America that he was treated unfairly because of discrimination when he was in the military.

They said that his mental health declined while he was in the custody of South Korea.

Last month, Ms Gates told the Associated Press news agency that her son had many reasons to return home.

“He will never want to only stay in Korea when he has family in America,” she said.

According to Frank Aum, a North Korea specialist at the US Institute of Peace in Washington DC, Pvt King’s 71-day imprisonment is quite common for American citizens held in North Korea who are not believed to have committed a serious crime.

Some experts thought North Korea might have used the American soldier as a way to negotiate with the United States.

In the past, North Korea has demanded that a high-ranking American representative come to their country to talk about releasing an American person they detained. However, we do not know if that happened this time.

MrAum, who used to be an important advisor on North Korea for the US government, said that North Korea thinks there might be a way to start talks again.

But it seemed like North Korea didn’t want to do it this time. This might mean that North Korea doesn’t want to talk or work with the US right now.

MrAum also said that North Korean officials surely want to avoid making it seem like they are a big violator of human rights and detaining people for no reason.

A person from the State Department named Matthew Miller said that the United States is ready to communicate with North Korea, but North Korea’s government has said no many times.

Mick Mulroy, who used to work for the government and CIA, said it’s a positive that Pvt King is being brought back to the United States, even though he made some errors.

“MrMulroy said it was really important for us to do everything we could to bring the US soldier back home. ”

  • Prominent Iraqi TikToker shot and killed in Baghdad during an anti-LGBTQ campaign

The security source from Iraq’s TikTok community informed CNN that a well-liked TikTok user from Iraq was killed by gunfire in Baghdad on Monday.

On social media, Noor Alsaffar, who goes by the name “Noor BM,” had more than 370,000 people following them on Instagram and TikTok combined. Alsaffar mostly uploaded short videos of dresses, hairstyles, and makeup looks. She would often dance along to music. After hearing about the shooting, a lot of people wrote comments expressing their sadness about Alsaffar’s death. Others were happy and showed their support for the man who shot the gun.

The CNN was told by someone from the Iraqi security that they have started looking into something. The person wanted to remain anonymous because they weren’t allowed to talk to the media. “The dead person has been brought to the science department for investigation. ”

On Tuesday, Khaled Almehna, who speaks for the Iraqi police, said that the attack was a “criminal incident. ” He also said that he will give more information at a later time.

The killing happened because Iraq is taking harsh actions against people who express themselves as LGBTQ and is trying to make it illegal. Being queer is not clearly prohibited by Iraq’s current laws, but LGBTQ individuals are frequently singled out and persecuted based on ambiguous morality rules in its penal code.

Before the shooting started, Alsaffar was subjected to mean or hurtful comments and questions on the internet. These comments and questions were specifically about Alsaffar’s sexuality and gender. In a 2020 interview on Iraq’s Al Walaa channel, Alsaffar stated that he is not transgender or gay. I don’t have any other preferences, I simply like to wear clothes of the opposite gender and work as a model. Alsaffar saw themselves as a man and also worked in the fashion industry doing makeup.

Alsaffar talked in videos about dealing with problems on social media because of what people wear.

During a YouTube interview in 2021, Alsaffar said that they were cautious but not scared in response to a question about how the TikToker looked.

The Iraqi group for LGBTQ rights called IraQueer talked about Alsaffar’s death on X (previously known as Twitter). They used hashtags like #Transphobia and #MuderOfTransPeople.

The Iraqi parliament has suggested a new law that makes gay sex, transgender expression, and other LGBTQ behavior against the law. If this is approved, it would mean that people who are in same-sex relationships could be sentenced to death or life in prison. It would also mean that people who support or encourage homosexuality could face a minimum of seven years in jail. Additionally, it would be illegal for people to behave or dress in a way that is considered to imitate women, and they could be sentenced to up to three years in prison for doing so.

Rights groups say that there has been an increase in violence and discrimination against LGBTQ people in the country recently. People in the country have been protesting. Most of the people protesting are supporters of a group called Shiite Muslims. They have been burning a special flag called the rainbow flag. They are doing this because some people in Sweden and Denmark burned a holy book called the Quran. Human Rights Watch (HRW) has stated that there is a problem of people mistreating and hurting LGBTQ individuals in Iraq, and those responsible are often not punished for their actions.

Iraq’s media regulator made a rule in August that the word “homosexuality” cannot be used in any form of media, including social media. Instead, they said people should use the phrase “sexual deviance” instead.

Human rights organizations are upset about the increasing oppression faced by LGBTQ communities in the Middle East. For example, Human Rights Watch discovered that LGBTQ individuals are being singled out online based on their digital activities.

In February, a group that protects people’s rights stated that in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Tunisia, LGBTQ rights violations happen online and are often followed by harsh punishments like being randomly held in custody and physically harmed.

  • Storm Agnes: Multiple warnings in force as Storm Agnes approaches the coast in Northern Ireland

There are alerts about bad weather in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland because Storm Agnes has arrived on the island.

The storm, the first named storm of the season, is expected to bring powerful and disruptive winds until Thursday morning.

It came to Northern Ireland around lunchtime.

About 1,000 people in Poyntzpass, County Armagh, don’t have electricity because of the bad weather.

The Met Office and Met Éireann have said that there might be problems with travel.

The Republic of Ireland has been most affected by the storm. Strong winds caused many trees to fall in Cork and Dublin.

In the seaside town of Youghal, County Cork, a building on Front Strand lost part of its roof due to strong winds.
The Cork Council said the road was closed and the gardai and the fire service were keeping an eye on the situation.

The weather agency Met Éireann has prolonged its orange wind warning for specific counties in Ireland. The warning will be in effect until 7:00 PM on Wednesday. The counties affected are Cork, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford.

There is a weather warning for rain in Cork, Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow Kerry and Waterford until midnight. There is also a warning for wind in Leinster, Munster, and Galway during the same time.

There is flooding in certain areas of Cork. The Cork County Council is telling drivers to stay away from driving through flooded areas.

Many flights at Belfast City Airport were canceled on Wednesday afternoon and there were issues with P&O Ferries on their route between Larne and Cairnryan in Scotland. The boats leaving at 4:00 pm were canceled, and the next one at 8:00 pm might be late.
In Northern Ireland, there is a warning for rain until 8:00 PM, and a warning for wind until 7:00 AM on Thursday.

The weather forecaster called the Met Office said that in certain areas, it might rain a lot, with up to 30mm (1. 2in) of rain falling in just a few hours. In the Mournes and Sperrins, there may even be up to 50mm of rain.

This could make the chances of flooding higher because the storm is moving towards the north and east.

The strongest wind in Northern Ireland was 57mph at Glenanne in County Armagh.

In Ireland, very strong winds of 72mph (116kmph) were measured on Sherkin Island in west Cork.

There has been a lot of rain today, with some places getting 20-25mm.
The rain warning for Northern Ireland will end at 8:00 PM. There will be heavy showers with thunder in the evening, but they will decrease before midnight.

The rest of the night won’t have much rain.

The strong winds will calm down for a while tonight, and the wind will start blowing from the south west.

Expect the wind to get stronger again and stay strong throughout the night.

However, the stronger winds will be moving towards the western counties and areas that are exposed to the coast and hills. These winds will not be as strong as they were earlier on Wednesday, around 40 to 45 miles per hour.

  • Western Cape in South Africa devastated by deadly floods

At least 11 people died when strong rain and winds hit South Africa’s Western Cape province, including Cape Town, over the weekend. There was a lot of damage caused.

Officials are cautioning that more people might die as the floodwater goes down.

The bad weather caused flooding in homes, and damaged roofs, crops, roads, and other things.

Rescue teams are still looking for people who may be stuck in homes that are partially under water.

72 children and 10 grown-ups couldn’t leave a resort in Oudtshoorn because the Le Roux River next to it flooded. They were saved on Wednesday morning, after the water went down.

Around 200 farm workers are stuck in places that have been separated due to flooding. We are trying hard to save them.

According to Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, over 80 roads were shut down and approximately 15,000 homes lost electricity.

Train services in certain areas of the Western and Eastern Cape provinces have temporarily halted.

The floods had a big impact on the farmland in the area, which includes the famous vineyards. The harvests are expected to be very negatively affected.
The Mayor of Cape Town, Geordin Hill-Lewis, has asked for more help and support to deal with the consequences of the heavy rainfall.

The city has shut down the Steenbras Nature Reserve and Gorge hiking route to see how the floods have affected them.

Anton Bredell, a minister in charge of the environment, said that helicopters were looking for people who were stuck and needed help. “He said that we anticipate the most severe outcome there. ”

The heavy rains that caused damage stopped on Monday. These rains happened one week after unusually high tides during the spring season.

Climate change has been accused of causing certain recent weather events in South Africa.

In 2022, heavy rain caused flooding in KwaZulu-Natal and over 430 people died. The coastal city of Gqeberha also faced a shortage of water last year.

  • Dramatic video of plane accident in Mali released

A video has been found of a plane crashing and catching fire at an airport in Gao, northern Mali. It is believed to be a plane from Mali’s air force.

Some people have guessed that Russian mercenaries from the Wagner group might have been on the ship, but we do not have proof of this yet.

The plane can be seen landing in what seems to be a late touchdown, and then going past the runway really fast.

Then, it forcefully goes through what seems to be solid barriers made of concrete before tumbling down a slope into a small, low area in the ground and bursting into flames.

A picture of the destroyed plane is now on the internet. It shows that a large part of the plane’s body was burnt.
A satellite picture from Planet Labs shows smoke coming from the wreckage. The ground that had been recently dug up between the wreckage and the runway was also noticeable, showing that it went too far past the runway.

Mali’s army has not given a response about the crash yet. The BBC has found some posts on social media that honor a Russian pilot who is believed to have died in the accident.

The airport in Gao, Mali is used by the Malian forces, Wagner mercenaries, and the UN peacekeeping mission.

The country is experiencing more and more attacks from Islamist militants and Tuareg rebels in the northern part.

  • Nagorno-Karabakh: Azerbaijan detains former leader of Karabakh

Ruben Vardanyan, a businessman who led the separatist government for a few months, was one of the thousands attempting to leave.

About 50,000 Armenian people have left Nagorno-Karabakh because Azerbaijan took control of it last week.

Mrs Vardanyan asked for help to make sure her husband is released safely.

“Veronika Zonabend said that Ruben supported the people of Arsakh during a 10-month blockade and shared in their fight for survival. ”

Azerbaijan’s border service stated that he had been brought to the main city, Baku, and given to other government organizations.

On Tuesday, many Armenians had to go through tough inspections by Azerbaijani border control when they crossed the border.

The government of Azerbaijan is searching for suspects who committed “war crimes” and they plan to forgive Armenian fighters who surrender their weapons in Karabakh.

“They said that the people who did bad things during the Karabakh wars should be given to us. ”

Nagorno-Karabakh is a region that is considered to be a part of Azerbaijan. However, it has been under the control of ethnic Armenians for the past thirty years.

Worries about more violence arose when Azerbaijan successfully blocked an important road into the area in December 2022.

On 20 September, a ceasefire stopped fighting for 24 hours. Azerbaijan and Karabakh leaders are discussing how to incorporate the enclave into Azerbaijan.

However, a lot of the area’s 120,000 Armenians are worried that they don’t have a future in Nagorno-Karabakh. The leader of Armenia said that people from different ethnic groups were being expelled from the area, which is a very serious and harmful thing.

The leaders of Karabakh said that at least 200 people died in the fighting last week, while Azerbaijan announced on Wednesday that 192 of their soldiers were killed.

There have been traffic jams on the road from Karabakh to Armenia for several days. A group from the BBC saw families squeezed into cars, with trunks overflowing and lots of belongings piled up on roof racks.

Western governments want Azerbaijan to let international observers go to Karabakh to watch how they treat the people who live there.

Germany has recently joined the calls for “transparency”, according to Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

She said on X, previously known as Twitter, that if Azerbaijan allows international observers, it would show that they are serious about their promises to protect and take care of the people in Nagorno-Karabakh.

On Tuesday, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken asked Azerbaijan’s President, Ilham Aliyev, to ensure that civilians are kept safe and have the freedom to move without any conditions. He also said that it is important for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Nagorno-Karabakh without any obstacles.

The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, also asked both groups to treat human rights with care and respect.

  • Al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamists ‘hiding behind Mali army base’

A violent group connected to al-Qaeda has announced that it now has power over a military base in the old city of Timbuktu in Mali.

Before, the Malian army claimed they successfully defended against what they referred to as a terrorist attack.

According to the military, the attackers at Acharane were pushed back by their soldiers, and now the soldiers are being taken away from the base.

Islamist fighters from the group JNIM have done many violent attacks in the Timbuktu area lately.

Fighting with Tuareg rebels has started again after a previous peace agreement in 2015 fell apart.

The violence is happening at the same time as the removal of many UN peacekeepers, which is what Mali’s military leaders wanted.

  • Why Orthodox Christians invoke ‘easterly bonfires’ prayers

Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia and Eritrea are getting ready to celebrate a yearly religious holiday called Meskel. This holiday commemorates the discovery of the cross that Jesus was crucified on.

In simple words, the Orthodox Church teaches that St Helena, who was the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine in the 4th Century, used a special incense called frankincense to light a big fire. The smoke from this fire showed her where the cross had been buried in Jerusalem.

After finding it, she made a larger fire called a “damera” in Ethiopia and Eritrea to let her son know that she had found the cross.

Different versions of this story claim that the first bonfire was extremely large and fell over to one side. This happened right where the cross was buried.

Today, in Ethiopia and Eritrea, people are making bonfires using long sticks as part of the traditional Meskel events.

The direction in which the burning wood falls has special meaning. If it falls towards the east, it’s a good sign for the next year. But if it falls towards the west, it’s a bad sign and warns of danger in the future.

If the bonfire stays upright or goes either north or south, nothing will change or improve.

In a place affected by fighting and lack of water, many Orthodox followers are eager to see how this year’s dameras fall.

In the past, people have heard stories about dishonest authorities attempting to control how the sticks fall.

For instance, in the past, when Eritrea was a part of Ethiopia, some people recall how the government officials of the former Ethiopian ruler Mengistu Hailemariam meddled with the religious leaders whose responsibility was to plan and manage the occasion.

They wanted the damage in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, to happen on the eastern side. They were afraid that if it happened in the western side, people would think it was because the Derg, which was Mengistu’s old military government, fell.

His government was overthrown with violence in 1991 – after 18 instances of firing weapons.

In Ethiopia, they light the main bonfire in the capital city, Addis Ababa, the day before Meskel. This year, it will be on Wednesday evening. In Eritrea, they light the main bonfire on the actual day of Meskel.

  • Former Malawian politician John Tembo passes away at age 91

John Tembo, a very influential person in Malawian politics for over forty years, has passed away in a hospital in the capital city, Lilongwe, at the age of 91, according to his family.

He became a Member of Parliament when he was 27 years old in 1960, just before the country gained independence from the United Kingdom.

He became known as former President Hastings Banda’s closest companion, while Mr Tembo’s niece, Cecelia Kadzamira, was chosen as the government’s official hostess instead of a first lady.

John Zenus Ungapake Tembo was the first person in charge of the money in Malawi after they became independent in 1964. He also worked in different government positions during his career.

He also worked as the head of the central bank and was considered the most important member of the government when Dr. Banda was in power for 30 years.

He is well known by his initials JZU. His biggest role was being part of a group that ruled Malawi for a short time while the president was sick.

After a vote in June 1993, Malawi stopped having only one ruling party. The next year, in a very important election with many parties, Dr Banda and his Malawi Congress Party (MCP) were not chosen to be in charge anymore.

This helped Mr. Tembo become a well-known leader of the opposition party, the MCP. He ran for president in 2004 and 2009, but he didn’t win. Bingu wa Mutharika was the winner both times.

He resigned as the leader of MCP in 2013, and Lazarus Chakwera took his place. Chakwera later became the president in 2020.

  • Senator enters not guilty plea as FBI investigates connections to Egypt

US Senator Bob Menendez and his wife said they are innocent of giving or receiving bribes, even as the FBI investigates his connection with Egyptian officials.

The senator from New Jersey is being accused of taking gold bars and lots of money as bribes.

The authorities claim that he used his power to assist the government of Egypt and his business partners in New Jersey.

The senator refused to quit even though other Democrats asked him to.

The Department of Justice accused Mr Menendez and his wife, Nadine, of accepting bribes and engaging in schemes to extort money. They are also accused of conspiring to commit fraud by dishonestly serving their responsibilities.

The FBI and CBS News are investigating possible bad actions between the senator and Egyptian officials, on top of the bribery charges.

Even though Mr. Menendez is no longer the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, his colleagues, including members of his own party, are asking him to quit.

When he was in charge of the committee, he helped manage lots of money that was given to Egypt by the US.

Mr Menendez’s suspected connection to Egypt has caused members of the US Congress to request a review of $235 million in military assistance given to Cairo.

Chris Murphy, a Democratic Senator, who is in charge of the Middle East subcommittee on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, expressed his hope that the committee would use its power to temporarily stop giving money to Egypt until they investigate and find out what Egypt was actually doing.

Mr Menendez, who is 69 years old, was accused of taking bribes in the past. However, the trial for that case was stopped without a final decision in 2017, which means it did not reach a conclusion.

Last year, when investigators searched the senator’s home in New Jersey, they claim to have found $480,000 in cash hidden all over the house. They also say that they discovered 13 gold bars, which they estimate are worth around $155,000.

The federal indictment claims that Mr Menendez and his wife received money for their home loan, a job where they did little or no work, a fancy car, and other valuable items.

The agents found a fancy Mercedes-Benz parked in the couple’s garage, which was paid for by one of the businessmen.

Three business owners were accused in the legal document. On Tuesday, one person named Wael Hana was brought to court and said they didn’t do anything wrong.

  • Use a lion instead of a butterfly as party logo – Mzbel suggests to Alan

Ghanaian hiplife artiste Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, known by her stage name Mzbel, has proposed that Alan Kyerematen consider using a lion rather than a butterfly as the logo for his political organization, the Movement for Change.

Mzbel argued that butterflies, while attractive, have poor night vision and limited defenses, making them vulnerable to predators. She suggested that a lion, symbolizing strength and courage, would better represent the ideals of transformation, hope, and positivity that Kyerematen aims to convey with his emblem.

She made the remarks in response to Alan Kyerematen’s declaration that he was severing relations with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and starting his political outfit.

“This symbol di3 someway… Butterflies are gorgeous but cannot see well in the dark and are subject to predators. The butterfly also is not very strong and has few defense mechanisms from prey. A lion maybe? I beg oo just a suggestion lol,” she wrote on Facebook.

  • 5 habits to improve your mental health

Improving your mental health is essential for overall well-being. Here are five habits that can help enhance your mental health:

    1. Regular Exercise: Physical activity has been linked to improved mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression. Exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Incorporate regular workouts into your routine, even if they are short walks or home workouts.
    2. Balanced Diet: A nutritious diet can significantly impact your mental health. Foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins can support brain function. Avoid excessive caffeine and sugar, which can lead to energy crashes and mood swings.
    3. Adequate Sleep: Quality sleep is vital for mental health. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. Poor sleep can contribute to mood disorders and increased stress. Create a bedtime routine and ensure your sleeping environment is comfortable and conducive to rest.
    4. Stress Management: Chronic stress can harm your mental health. Practice stress-reduction techniques like mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, or yoga. These practices can help you stay calm and focused.
    5. Social Connections: Human beings are social creatures, and maintaining meaningful relationships is crucial for mental well-being. Spend time with friends and loved ones, seek support when needed, and engage in activities that foster social connections.

Remember that mental health is a personal journey, and it’s okay to seek professional help when necessary. If you’re experiencing persistent mental health issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional or counselor for guidance and support.

  • Ukraine guns down 26 Russian drones

A Russian air strike during the night caused harm to two people and damaged the infrastructure of Izmail, a Ukrainian port known for exporting grain.

The attack on Tuesday lasted for over two hours and caused damage to a port building, storage facilities, and more than 30 trucks and cars, as confirmed by the governor of the Odesa region, Oleh Kiper.

The Ukrainian military destroyed 26 out of the 38 attack drones that Russia sent, which were made in Iran.

Moscow has increased its airstrikes on Ukrainian ports along the Danube River, such as Izmail and Reni. This happened because they stopped a grain agreement in July that used to guarantee the secure shipment of Ukrainian grains.

On Tuesday, a Russian missile attack also hurt a business in the southern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, according to Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul.
It is not clear yet if anyone was hurt.

A drone attack by Ukraine caused the power to be shut off in seven towns in Russia’s Kursk region, according to Governor Roman Starovoyt.

Earlier, the defense ministry of Russia stated that their air defense systems had destroyed a drone launched by Ukraine over the Kursk area around 5:30 am.

Afterwards, there were many reports of several drones being hit and destroyed in the area near Ukraine on Monday.

Yesterday, Russia launched missiles on the city of Odessa in Ukraine. This happened while the city’s Jewish community was observing the important religious holiday called Yom Kippur.

Fighters attacked the famous Hotel Odessa, which was being used as a training center for the military. The hotel was severely damaged and destroyed by the fire that followed.

Other people who saw it said that there was a long attack on the Black Sea port. Russia fired a lot of dangerous missiles for more than an hour.

Sammy Flex, who has experience managing artists and has previously worked with Highlife musicians Kumi Guitar and Quarme Zaggy, has emphasised the many benefits of encouraging fruitful partnerships and the positive effects they can have on both the artist and the entire entertainment industry.

To achieve their shared goals, Sammy Flex stressed the need for strong, supportive, and collaborative support from stakeholders.

“The level of support we would need from the showbiz fraternity is multifaceted, ranging from collaboration opportunities and endorsements to guidance and advocacy for the betterment of the industry,” he said. “A supportive and collaborative showbiz community plays a vital role in the success and growth of any artist’s career.”

  • Tic laments high cost of living in the country

Hip-hop artist Nana Kwaku Duah, also known by his stage name Tic, has bemoaned the high cost of living in his homeland, which has forced him to forgo buying some foods that he used to.

He expressed his shock at learning that Kenkey now cost GH5, which forced him and his family to stop buying it because it is one of the most beloved foods.

The hiphop artist admitted that during his lifetime, kenkey was one of the least expensive foods, and he never anticipated that the cost would increase to such a degree.

Tic lamented the GH5 price of coconuts at the moment and expressed concern over the state of the Ghanaian economy.

His remark follows the country’s ongoing economic crisis, which has led to an increase in the number of protests and angry citizen rants on social media as a means of communicating with the government.

“Honestly I and my household love kenkey, but now we don’t buy it that often because a ball of kenkey is now GH¢5. I never imagined this day will come whereby kenkey, one of the cheapest food in my lifetime will cost that much. Can you imagine one coconut is now GH¢5 too. This is the reality,” Tic wrote on his Twitter page.

He shares the same concerns as other well-known people who have urged the Akufo-Addo-led administration to pay attention to Ghanaians’ complaints and fix the economy.

  • Paranoid Putin alleges US and UK were involved in planning attack on Black Sea Fleet HQ

Russia says that Ukraine‘s friends in the West were involved in planning and carrying out a missile strike on the Black Sea Fleet’s base in Crimea.

Last week, a missile from Ukraine hit the Russian naval base. This caused severe damage to important buildings and sadly resulted in the deaths of at least 34 officers.

After the attack, a very angry Kremlin spokeswoman stated during a meeting: ‘There is no question that the attack had been carefully planned beforehand using information from Western intelligence sources, Nato satellites, and surveillance planes. It was carried out based on advice from American and British security agencies and with their close collaboration. ‘

Moscow often says that the UK, US, and their NATO allies have become involved in the war by giving weapons and information to Ukraine.
Russia took over the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 even though it was against the law. Since then, it has been a common focus point as Russia’s president Vladimir Putin sent a large military force to invade Ukraine about 20 months ago.

Crimea has been a major base for the invasion, and it is being targeted more and more by Ukraine.

Ukraine said that the attack caused a big hole in the main building of the headquarters and injured 105 people.

Russia first reported that one person in the military was dead, but then changed their statement and said the person was actually missing.

Moscow hasn’t given any new information or spoken directly about Mr. Sokolov’s condition

Ukrainian special forces said they killed Admiral Viktor Sokolov, who was in charge of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

But, Russia’s Ministry of Defence later uploaded a video on Tuesday that showed Mr Sokolov and other high-ranking officers participating in a video meeting with Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The Special Operation Forces of Ukraine released a statement on Tuesday, saying that their sources have reported that Mr. Sokolov is one of the people who died. However, many of the dead individuals have not yet been identified. It said it was trying to check if the claim was true after the video appeared.

In the video, Mr. Sokolov blinked his eyes but didn’t say anything. This made people wonder if the Kremlin used old footage of him in the broadcast.

The Admiral also talked to reporters about the Black Fleet’s activities in a video that was shared on a Russian news channel connected to the Russian Defense Ministry.

But it was unsure when the video was made, and the video didn’t mention the Ukrainian attack on fleet headquarters.

The statement from the MOD agrees with what Dmitry Medvedev said. He mentioned that the arrival of tanks made in America in Ukraine and the US promising to give long-range missiles to Ukraine would bring Nato and Russia closer to a direct conflict.

  • Get to know the businesses owned by D-Black

Rapper and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Black Avenue Music, D-Black, has disclosed his business ventures in Ghana alongside his music career.

He revealed that Black Avenue Works was his initial business venture, established with income generated from music.

Subsequently, he ventured into other business projects that have contributed to his economic stability.

D-Black also highlighted the formation of Black Avenue Music, his prominent record label. He emphasized that he co-founded it with fellow musicians, including Joey B and DJ Breezy. During an interview on JoyPrime’s CelebBiz, he elaborated on his various businesses in Ghana and how he manages to ensure their success.

“The first one was the first thing I did before even getting into music and that was advertising and marketing. So I was doing that, and that’s where I got the money to invest in my music. So it was a company I started called Black Avenue Works,” he said.

He continued: “And then when I invested in music, I started a record label, Black Avenue Music. So it was me, Joey B, and DJ Breezy, that’s how I started that company. And then I took a break from music in 2016, around the time when Castro disappeared and I went into events. So I started livewire events. We did Bukom Banku versus Ayittey Powers Celebrity soccer, and a host of events so that was my third company.

“And then I started doing branding that’s Volcano; then I built Club Onyx that’s number five. Then Oasis Lounge that’s number six. Number seven is the Casablanca Lounge then Frosty Moon, which is an ice cream franchise business that’s where we eat. And then Twelve Saints is a merchandise store in West Legon, that’s nine. I set up Ramazan and then a food delivery business called ‘Just Order.’ So that’s 11,” D-Black disclosed this in an interview with JoyPrime.

  • 11 men gang-rape 12-year-old girl in Oruro, Bolivia

A 12-year-old girl was said to have been sexually assaulted by a group of 11 men after they took her away from a celebration.

It occurred in Oruro, Bolivia, at about 1am on Monday. The police have captured three men but are still searching for eight other people.

The men are being accused of giving the young girl alcohol and then sexually assaulting her in a far away place.

It’s unclear how the suspects were able to take the girl from her family at the festival.

Bolivia’s legal authorities have stated that they are investigating a serious crime where a 12-year-old girl was raped by a group of 11 people. The prosecutor in charge is looking into the case to find out what happened and take appropriate action.

Víctor Q has been doing well. R, Víctor HCH and Adolfo C. C have been caught by the police and will face charges soon.

The Prosecutor’s Office wants the suspects to be kept in jail before the trial, and the police are still looking for other people involved.

Mr Morales said that once they found out about the attack, they started to investigate. They looked into the victim’s psychological report, did an identification parade, and got a forensic medical certificate to prove that a crime had happened. This helped them find the first three people they suspect were involved.
We will keep working together with the police to find the rest of the people responsible and make sure they are punished for their actions.

The report from the forensic team says that the girl’s body has clear signs of violence and injuries caused by rubbing on her spine.

‘We are studying the details and support we need from the Institute of Forensic Investigation and others to understand this incident better and ensure that there are consequences for it. ‘

‘We want to make sure that the people who are to blame are given a 30-year punishment in jail. ‘

  • Netizens criticize Okyeame Kwame over Fix Yourself comment

Ghanaian Hiplife singer-songwriter Okyeame Kwame has faced criticism from social media users following a tweet in which he urged Ghanaians to take responsibility for improving themselves and the country rather than relying on politicians.

This statement came as a response to a question posed by media personality Naa Ashorkor, who asked her followers, “Who do you believe will fix the country?”.

In response, Okyeame Kwame posted, “You Naa, you will fix the country. Starting with your health, then mindset, then your family, then your work. If we all start a small light in our little corners, Ghana will become bright. All the names you have mentioned can also light a small flame. However, Ghana cannot be fixed by one man. No messiah in politics.”

His tweet however did not go down well with many followers who likened his comments to the “Fix Yourself” campaign which emerged on the back of the “Fix the Country” movement in 2021.

Okyeame Kwame’s post, in which he encouraged Ghanaians to take responsibility for their own improvement and that of the country, faced criticism from social media users.

This criticism stemmed from the context of the #FixTheCountry movement, which had emerged on social media as a demand for better governance during economic challenges in Ghana.

Additionally, there was a #FixYourself campaign by government supporters, suggesting that citizens should contribute to the country’s development instead of relying solely on the government.

Critics questioned how self-improvement would address pressing issues such as infrastructure and healthcare. Some also accused Okyeame Kwame of government sympathies due to his perceived silence during the #OccupyJulobiHouse protests.

Below are some comments on Okyeame Kwame’s post.

  • Cocaine worth £136,000,000 confiscated in Ireland port

Irish customs officers found and took away 2,253 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine, which is worth 157 million euros, from a cargo ship near the southeast coast of Ireland.

A highly skilled group of soldiers from Ireland attacked a large ship from Panama that was believed to be transporting a lot of drugs. This happened on Tuesday and was a big operation.

The big boat was supposedly trying to escape when the Navy caught up to it near the coast of Co Cork.

Two men, one from the UK and the other from eastern Europe, have been arrested using the country’s law against organized crime.

A group of Irish soldiers raid a ship they believe is transporting illegal drugs.
At a meeting with reporters in Dublin on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Irish police service An Garda Siochana announced that they had discovered the biggest amount of drugs ever found in the country.

Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly spoke to the media and called the action very important.

Mr Kelly, who works for the Organised and Serious Crime Unit, said: ‘This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to stopping and breaking apart groups that want to bring drugs into our country.

These groups are groups that operate across different countries. They are working everywhere and, because of that, we need to work with our partners from other countries.

Commander Tony Geraghty, who is in charge of fleet operations in the Irish Naval Service, stated that a very complicated operation took place involving multiple units such as the Naval Service, the Air Corps, the Army Ranger Wing, and Defense Force headquarters.

‘And then things became even more complicated because of factors in our surroundings that we had no power over. ‘ The weather was really bad.

We were also trying to guess what crime gangs would do and how it would affect us.
‘The Defense Force thought it was a big success because it showed that we can work together well. ‘

Gunshots were fired at the cargo ship before people got on board.

He said, “The trader ship didn’t listen to our ship’s orders. ”

This was before the Army Ranger Wing was added.

‘The ship’s captain used more force to make the boat follow their instructions. ‘

He said that the Army Ranger Wing and helicopter pilot showed a lot of skill during strong winds.

When asked if any cocaine had been taken off the ship, Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly couldn’t say because three people were in custody.

Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly said that when they took the drugs, they calculated their worth at 157 million euros. However, if the drugs had been sold in other European countries, their value could have gone up even more.

The Revenue Commissioner and the head of customs, Gerry Harrahill, said the amount of money could become three times greater than what the crime group had planned to make in the future.

Mr Harrahill stated that it was too soon to provide a specific number for the quality of the cocaine.

Mr Kelly said that there has never been a shortage of Irish assets when there is a plan or operation to be carried out in Irish waters.

When asked about how big the operation was, Commander Tony Geraghty from the Irish Naval Service said: ‘Yesterday was very different because it was the first time the Army Ranger Wing was used in that specific situation. ‘

‘The only reason we couldn’t start our onboarding team was because of the weather. If the weather had been good, we would have been able to begin. ‘

Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly explained that the Joint Task Force was created to address the suspected transportation of cocaine on September 22nd.
He said a fishing boat that got stuck on the shore near Co Wexford was definitely a deliberate choice for an attack ever since then.

The boat is still out at sea. It is being watched and we want to get it back. “We will investigate the crime scene thoroughly once it has been cleaned up. ”

Mr Kelly said: “No one has been on the ship yet, so we are still unsure about it. ”

He said the boat would be carefully searched and examined for evidence. The top police officer said that someone from the fishing boat needed to go to the hospital and was taken there. After that, the person was arrested.

Mr Kelly said that it was believed that some of the drugs were not meant to be sold in Ireland.

  • Ernest Opoku details why his marriage failed

Gospel musician Ernest Opoku Jnr. and his wife Hadassah embarked on their marital journey in 2014, exchanging vows of ’till death do us part.’ However, their union faced significant challenges just three years later.

The troubles in their marriage were sparked by Hadassah’s susceptibility to gossip and rumors, as revealed by the gospel musician himself.

During an interview on The Delay Show, which aired on September 24, 2023, and was monitored by GhanaWeb, Ernest Opoku disclosed that Hadassah had given weight to

unfounded allegations, ultimately leading to her decision to terminate their marriage.

“When two people are embarking on a journey and one of them decides not to continue, you have to let them go,” he said while refraining from giving details but said, “People called her and told her all manner of things and she listened to them. She told me she could not continue with the marriage and I said OK.”

The breakup, according to Ernest Opoku, never left him heartbroken. Without hesitation, he responded, “No, no, no” amid giggling when asked if his heart was broken.

“I was never brokenhearted. My heart has never been broken and I will never be brokenhearted. People keep telling you stuff that there is no evidence to back but you believe them…”

Ernest further disclosed that he shares a twelve-year-old daughter with Hadassah. Additionally, he acknowledged having a son with another woman but opted not to reveal her identity. He clarified that his son was born before he met Hadassah.

Despite the challenges in their marriage, Ernest stated that he maintains an amicable relationship with Hadassah, who currently resides in the United States with their daughter.

  • UK to launch new oilfield after one of largest untouched discoveries in UK waters

The biggest oil and gas field in the UK, called Rosebank, has been approved by the regulator to start extraction.

This area, located 80 miles to the west of Shetland, has about 300 million barrels of oil. It is the UK’s biggest oil site that hasn’t been developed yet, and it is twice as big as the disputed Cambo oil field.

The North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) announced that the oil and gas regulator has given permission to Equinor and Ithaca Energy, who own the North Sea oil and gas reserves. This permission was granted after reviewing and accepting the Environmental Statement.

They plan to begin making things in the end of 2026. They say this machine can extract 69,000 barrels of oil every day at its highest point. This is about 8% of the total oil production in the UK each day. It can also extract 44 million cubic feet of gas daily.

The UK government believes that having more oil will make the country more secure in terms of energy. However, most of this oil is likely to be sold to Europe and then brought back to the UK as refined products.
A spokesperson for NSTA said: ‘We have given approval to the Rosebank Field Development Plan. This means that the owners can now move forward with their project. ‘

‘The FDP is given based on our published guidance and considering the impact on achieving net zero emissions throughout the entire project. ‘

Energy Security Secretary Claire Coutinho stated that while investments are being made in renewable energy, it is also recognized by the independent Climate Change Committee that oil and gas will still be necessary on the journey to achieving net zero emissions. Therefore, it is logical to utilize our own oil and gas reserves from North Sea fields like Rosebank.

The jobs and lots of money that this brings to our economy will help us become less dependent on other countries for energy. This will make us safer and less vulnerable to leaders like Putin.

‘We will keep supporting the UK’s oil and gas industry to ensure our energy security, boost our economy, and assist in transitioning to more affordable and cleaner energy. ‘

Greta Thunberg and other environmental activists strongly disliked the development.
Activists from Fossil Free London, Stop Rosebank, and other groups gathered in Westminster today to protest after the government gave its approval.

Many people gathered outside the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero on Whitehall Place. They were shouting slogans, holding signs, and lighting flares.

Philip Evans, a climate campaigner from Greenpeace UK, stated that Rishi Sunak has clearly shown that he prioritizes the profits of oil companies over the well-being of regular people.

Our very expensive bills and the recent very bad weather have made it clear to us.

The unfortunate reality is that Sunak is favoring certain groups, showing how much control the fossil fuel industry has on the government’s choices.

‘Why would he do something so dangerous. ‘

The two companies, Ithaca Energy and Equinor, have decided to invest 3. 8 billion dollars (£3. 1 billion) in the Rosebank oil field.

  • I would be put to death for being gay in Nigeria – Man

As I stared out of the window of the plane, looking down at the land I was moving away from, tears started flowing from my eyes.

I didn’t know when I would be returning to Nigeria, but I had to leave to protect myself.

It has been over four years, but I am still unable to return home because I am scared that I will be murdered for being gay.

That’s why I feel really disgusted by the recent things Home Secretary Suella Braverman said.

During a speech yesterday in Washington, she said that just being gay or a woman and fearing discrimination in your home country is not enough to qualify for asylum.

Once again, her remarks show that politicians who make important decisions about life and death are completely disconnected from reality and don’t understand the situation.

When I discovered I was gay when I was young, it was something that everyone knew but no one wanted to talk about.

The Home Secretary says that just being gay or a woman is not sufficient to request asylum.
When I was around eight or nine years old, I loved colors and used to imagine things in different shades. I stood out because I didn’t enjoy typical sports like the other boys who played football all the time.

Growing up in a Christian culture meant that there were strict expectations and norms about how to behave, especially when it came to gender and sexuality. This could be harmful and create a lot of pressure. When I was a teenager, I didn’t like girls and couldn’t understand what my biology teacher was talking about.

I didn’t have anyone to talk to and I couldn’t talk freely because of the highly religious nature of the society I lived in.

Looking back, my childhood seemed happy, but it was actually a lie hiding my sadness, a life that was taken from me, and a happiness that was never real.

Lying about a big part of who I am meant pretending every day for many years, and that is not a good way to live. So, I turned to social justice to help heal from my troubles and find peace with my situation. I really love it a lot.

I began advocating for the rights of refugees in Nigeria eight years ago.

Social media gave me the ability to discuss topics that were usually not allowed, and I worked very hard for causes that were important to me on X (previously called Twitter). When I reflect on my experiences, it’s easy to understand why I am so passionate about bringing about positive transformations.

Joel is hanging up a lot of LGBTQ+ flags in Nigeria.

But in 2019, I realized it was time to speak up about the unfair treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals in my country.

I felt like I had to be really honest and true to myself in order to live my life the way I wanted to. I wanted to start living life how I wanted and make peace with my different sides that want to be acknowledged.

So, me and eight other people decided to plan the very first Pride event in Nigeria.

Drawing inspiration from LGBTQ+ trailblazers of previous generations like Bayard Rustin, Bisi Alimi, and Lady Phyll, and having the privilege of knowing some in my own generation through social media, we joined together to plan a set of demonstrations in 15 important places throughout our country, including the capital city of Abuja and the megacity of Lagos.

In our group, we felt scared, mad, upset, excited, brave, happy, hurt, and most importantly, loved.

However, before the protests, my eight friends decided not to participate because they were worried about their safety and how it would affect their loved ones.

However, I had the intention to attend, so it was decided that this gathering would be an individual celebration of pride. I will be the main face of this LGBTQ+ protest, while others will be there to help and support behind the scenes.

The night before the first day was a strange and restless night. I felt really excited and it seemed like I had reached the end of my journey to freedom (or at least I thought so).
I wore my Pride shoes, Pride clothes, and Pride watch when I went to protests. My outfits had strong messages. That was the belief I needed. Nothing else was important when I wore them.

There were no signs because I was the sign. My shoes and clothes were the main focus, along with the three flags representing LGBTQ, Bisexual and Trans.

My flags and clothes with pride colors got a lot of attention from people passing by and also from the authorities. During the protests, I experienced a mix of fear and strength that made me feel like I went through many cycles of being born again.

It felt like I was by myself, but I had the backup and strength of all my friends and important LGBTQ+ people, both alive and deceased.

We came to show our disagreement with laws in Nigeria that affect the LGBTQ+ community, especially the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act. We want this law to be removed as soon as possible.

Besides not allowing same-sex marriage, the law made oppression acceptable and was used by authorities to explain and support mistreatment.

People can harm LGBTQ+ individuals without getting punished, which happens frequently and often leads to lynching and murder. The protest wanted to get rid of the very strict law, teach and make my community’s experience more humane.

Our Pride event ended with a month-long protest at the National Assembly in Abuja. This is where the strict law had been officially put into effect five years ago.

We voiced our dissatisfaction four times every week, and to our surprise, most people from the general public showed their support.

Every day had difficulties, and we always felt the danger of being lynched – especially in Lagos. It almost happened before my friends calmed the situation down.

In the end, I felt really happy to be a part of such a movement that aimed to make positive changes in society. However, the consequences were very bad and our group found out that we had become people who were being investigated.

We successfully entered the Senate building to protest. However, kind people at the National Assembly advised us to hide. We were caught on camera and people knew that we were there to support LGBTQ+ rights.

Because I stood up for what I believed was right, I experienced persecution from both the Nigerian government and religious groups. My family called me and said that the police were asking weird questions about what I do and what kind of life I live.

In just a few days, it became too dangerous for me to stay in my country, so I had to leave my home and go somewhere else to be safe. There wasn’t enough time to say goodbye.

The Court of Appeal has stopped the government’s plan to send asylum seekers back to Rwanda.
I had the option to go to the USA or Canada, but I chose the UK because I had been there before and it was a place I was familiar with. Also, I didn’t have enough time to get new visas for the other countries.

I believed that all my concerns were over once I boarded the plane to Britain.

I came to the UK on November 5, 2019. When I got to the airport, I talked to the UK officials and explained that I came here because my life was at risk. After waiting for 11 hours, they informed me that I would be placed in an immigration detention center.

I was worried, but I couldn’t feel anything. The good part was that I managed to escape from being hunted and from the dangerous situation I was in.

In detention, there was no safety or protection. I am not ready to explain the bad and unfair treatment I went through there, but what happened to me is not an uncommon occurrence.

It bothers me to know that other people have gone through the same thing. Many of my friends who have been through similar bad experiences in jail are too afraid to talk about it.

After I was arrested, I was put in a place that was not made for people like me.

I was with mean straight people and they treated me badly because of my race, sexual orientation, and behavior. No matter how hard I try, I can’t hide because I am a Black LGBTQ+ non-binary person seeking asylum in Britain.

Since I arrived in the UK, life has been uncertain, especially because Covid-19 started just a few months later.

The pandemic has made life really difficult for asylum seekers like me. We are stuck in a state of uncertainty, living in unsafe and unstable housing, struggling with lack of resources and support. This is taking a toll on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

But luckily, I got in touch with nonprofits like Albert Kennedy Trust and Safe Passage International, who always helped me and many others in the past.

AKT is where I first lived and it is still where I live now. I met LGBTQ+ people who were open about their identities, and it felt like a celebration of their pride every day. AKT also took care of my mental, emotional, and physical well-being, such as helping me find a doctor.

Safe Passage helped me find other stories of people who went on journeys to a safe place and they also helped me speak up for safe paths for child refugees. I joined a group called Young Leaders. In this group, we learned how to talk to politicians and promote causes. We also became more confident and learned about our own abilities.

Luckily, I was given refugee status one year after I came to the UK. Receiving this news made me very happy.
But I think Suella Braverman’s recent remarks are very harmful.

Today, it is harder for LGBTQ+ individuals to live and love openly in different parts of the world. We are always losing and never fully recovering from the pain and sadness of death and funerals.

In my home country, I was someone who caught people’s attention and I still am. However, not much has happened since 2019. I think it’s safe to say, things are getting even worse. In certain areas of Africa, like Uganda and Ghana, there are frequent incidents where LGBTQ+ individuals are targeted and persecuted.

Just recently in Nigeria, a large number of people who were thought to be LGBTQ+ were arrested. They were accused of organizing a ‘gay wedding’ which is illegal. There were also violent attacks where LGBTQ+ men were tied to a tree and severely beaten up.

This might have happened to me. I am very angry that Braverman is saying that being afraid of discrimination as a gay person is not a good reason to seek asylum in the UK.

People like me who are seeking safety should not have to wait for something terrible to happen before we leave our homes. Being queer should never feel like taking a risk.

Once again, a few people who make important decisions are hurting humanity. We should be treated with respect and honor.

  • More fentanyl discovered inside trap door of nursery where boy died in New York

Police in New York City found more drugs at a daycare center. They think the daycare was pretending to be a regular center, but was really smuggling drugs.

Investigators found a stash of a very dangerous drug called fentanyl hidden under a secret door at a daycare center in the Bronx. A young child died after being exposed to the drug last week.

Emergency personnel quickly went to Divino Nino Daycare on Friday, September 15th when three young children were said to be unconscious.

Paramedics quickly realized that they had taken too much opioids and gave themselves Narcan to counteract the effects. Two kids, a one-year-old boy and an eight-month-old girl, managed to survive a terrible experience.
Nicholas Feliz-Dominici, who was 1 year old, passed away while being taken to the hospital.

Later, after his mom picked him up, another child from the daycare got sick and had to go to the hospital with the same problems.

During a search of Divino Nino daycare, officials found one kilogram of fentanyl hidden under play mats in a room where the children sleep. They also discovered two kilo presses, which are believed to be used for packing a lot of drugs.

The daycare’s owner, Grei Mendez, was taken into custody on Saturday and accused of committing very serious crimes: murder, manslaughter, assault, drug possession, and endangering the lives of children.
Carlisto Acevedo Brito, who is related to Mendez through marriage and was staying in a room she rented, has also been arrested and is being charged with the same crimes. Investigators found one of the machines used to pack drugs in his room.

Mendez’s spouse, who was last seen walking away from the area with bags in their hands just before emergency personnel came, is still running away from investigators.

Investigators returned to Divino Nino on Thursday and found a secret door hiding a small space under a playroom. The space was about four feet by six feet in size.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) found a lot of the drug fentanyl, along with other drugs and things used for taking drugs, hidden under the floor in the play area at the daycare center.
Over 5 kilograms of drugs were discovered in the hidden area under the floor.

Mendez and Brito were accused of serious drug crimes on Tuesday, involving having drugs with the intention to sell them.

NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban described the incident as something that would frighten any parent.

“He said that these suspected drug traffickers shamelessly conducted their illegal operations in a very poorly thought out place, but they will face consequences for their actions. ”

A group of people in the Bronx accused Mendez and Brito of more crimes and presented the charges in a secret legal document on Thursday.

“I may not be their biological mother, and I may not have been the one who sent them to that day care center, but every person in this county shares the same emotions and trust that the day care center would take care of their children,” stated Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark during a press conference where new charges were announced.

  • Ken Ofori-Atta poor performance is the reason we are here today – Alan

Alan Kyerematen, the former Minister of Trade and Industry, has shifted blame for Ghana’s current economic challenges to the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta

Alan, who resigned from his position as Trade Minister earlier this year to compete for the NPP’s flagbearership, has also left the NPP to run as an independent candidate.

In a recent interview on UTV, Alan, who was formerly a member of the government’s Economic Management Team, made it clear that he should not be held responsible for the country’s current economic difficulties. He stressed that the ultimate authority to make decisions on economic matters lies with the Finance Minister.

“The Minister of Finance is the one who oversees the economy,” said Alan Kyerematen.

“He is in charge and he takes the final decision. I can only make contributions but he makes the final decision,” Alan said, as he rebuffed suggestions that as a member of the EMT, he should share in the blame

“I cannot take responsibility for decisions made by the finance minister. Is that what you are asking me to do?” he noted.

He added that there were many things Ken Ofori Atta could have done to help stabilize the country’s economy but he didn’t.

  • Trump intends to purchase firearm with his picture on it

The ex-president, Donald Trump, tried to purchase a handgun with his own picture on it, but he couldn’t because he has been charged with serious crimes in four separate cases.

Trump was at a store called Palmetto State Armory in South Carolina. There, he saw a gun that was bronze-colored and had his picture, his name, his title as 45th president, and a special symbol on the handle.

That’s amazingI have to purchase one. “I want to buy one,” Trump said on Monday when someone showed him the gun. The video was shared by his spokesperson Steven Cheung on X (formerly Twitter).

The person holding the gun responded quickly, and then Trump repeated, ‘No, I want to purchase one. ‘
Cheung said, “President Trump bought a GLOCK gun in South Carolina. ”

The spokesperson quickly removed the post because they realized it would be illegal for Trump to buy the gun. This is because he has 91 serious charges against him in four different criminal cases.

A federal law says that people who have been accused of a serious crime are not allowed to buy a gun.

Cheung told CNN that Trump didn’t really purchase the Glock when he went to the armory.
Trump was joined on the visit by Marjorie Taylor Greene, a congresswoman who supports him a lot and belongs to the Republican party.

‘She said President Trump went shopping in South Carolina, but then the Trump campaign clarified. ‘ “He will make sure our important Second Amendment is defended. ”

The ex-president kept going with his day and had a meeting in Summerville, a small town near Charleston.
Trump has always admitted that he has a license to carry a hidden weapon and in a 2015 debate among Republican presidential candidates, he confessed, ‘I do carry my weapon sometimes, and at times, I carry it often. ‘ But I enjoy not following a set pattern or being predictable.

The former president, who is currently winning against his opponents, will not participate in the second 2024 Republican primary debate on Wednesday evening. Instead, he will have a gathering with employees from the car industry who are protesting in Michigan.

Trump said he did not do anything wrong and is not admitting guilt for any of the charges in the four cases against him.
