A factory that makes alcohol is stopping making cheap big vodkas because the Alberta minister says they are not being sold at a fair price.
Some people like the new jugs from T-Rex Distillery, but some don’t. The jugs are getting mixed reviews on social media. About half of the people like them because they are new and easy to use.
Others are worried too, like Service Alberta Minister Dale Nally. He thinks the low $49. 95 price was not a good idea and he might step in to do something about it.
The distillery in Edmonton is making jugs of liquor for Super Value Liquor, and they are selling it at the price Super Value Liquor asked for.
Currently, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis decides how much stores have to pay for products. However, T-Rex says that the agency doesn’t give any rules or instructions on how much the products should be sold for.
Laws in Canada control how alcohol is labelled and packaged, and Nally says the jugs follow these rules.

Nally’s ministry didn’t quickly explain what the government might do about pricing.
The plastic jugs look like four-liter milk containers and have simple labels that say “value” and “vodka” on a yellow background.
Sunny Bhullar, who is the manager at Edmonton Super Value Liquor, said his store reduced the price of the jugs from $60.
“We make sure we are taking care of our customers in a good way,” said Bhullar in an interview.
He said the store wants to sell good products at low prices for people who want to buy a lot at once.
“We sell our products at a reasonable price,” he said.
Nally wants to set a minimum price for the products, but Bhullar is worried about it.
“It will be difficult for small shops to compete with the larger stores in that situation,” he said.
T-Rex sent an email saying that its vodka bottles have been available for about a year. It also sells a special T-Rex jug for businesses like bars and restaurants.
The company said that the vodka bottles were checked and given the okay by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis. As of Monday, T-Rex has not heard anything from the agency, the government, or the minister.
“Craft distilleries in Alberta have been struggling because their prices are not fair. Some distilleries are even selling their spirits for less than T-Rex,” said the company.

Nally said something before proposing a new law to reduce red tape. He wants to make it clear that he has the power to set liquor prices.

The police also found illegal tobacco and a plant called khat, which is believed to have stimulating effects.

Syncrude forced to pay $390K after admitting to fatality at work site in Alberta in 2021
Syncrude has agreed to pay nearly $400,000 in compensation after accepting responsibility for a worker’s death almost three years ago.
On June 6, 2021, a worker was using a big machine to build a wall at a construction site near Fort McKay when the ground under the machine slipped into the water.
The part of the excavator where the worker sits went under the water, and the worker died.
Syncrude admitted they didn’t keep a worker safe and healthy as required by the law.
Four other complaints under the OHS Act were removed.
The company will give $390,000 to the David and Joan Lynch School of Engineering Safety and Risk Management, the UAlberta Geotechnical Centre and the Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association, for an innovative initiative. This was announced by the province in a news release on Monday.
The money will be used to make a guide for employers to follow and create a mobile app that can be used for trenching, excavation and related work.

Two people killed following daylight shooting in suburban area of south Edmonton
Two people were killed and one person is in the hospital after a shooting in south Edmonton on Monday at lunchtime.

But another lawyer from Germany, Samuel Wordsworth, said that the court cannot say Germany is not stopping genocide because it hasn’t said Israel is breaking the rules.
In the early stage of the case that South Africa brought last year, the UN court said that it is possible that Israel’s actions in Gaza might break the convention.

Students at the Ayotzinapa teachers’ college in Chilpancingo are known for their violent protests. They often take over buses and trucks during these protests.
In March, protesters from the college took control of a pickup truck and used it to break down the wooden doors of Mexico City’s National Palace.

Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a high-ranking military leader in the Iranian Revolutionary Guardâs Quds Force, increased worries about the war spreading to other parts of the Middle East.

The suit detailed that the accused made their first monetary demands of GHS 5,000 on December 3, 2024, which was allegedly channeled through the complaint’s makeup artiste.
The second demand allegedly was a sum of GHS 20,000, which she allegedly paid, yet the accused persons went ahead to publish the intimate video.
The suit further states that per the complaint with the police, and upon surveillance mounted, the first accused was arrested at his hideout at Dzorwulu.
During investigations, he allegedly admitted to having used his Ghana Card to register the said mobile money account number and handed it to the second accused, before it was thereon handed to the third accused.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend Henry Fitz, who is currently at large, as investigations continue.

Over 90 people, including children killed in ferry accident in Mozambique
A makeshift ferry carrying people sank off the coast of Mozambique‘s northern area and 94 people, including kids, died, according to local news.
Silverio Nauaito, who is in charge of the Island of Mozambique, reported to the media that, the ferry sank on Sunday afternoon. The number of people who died in the accident went up from 91 to 94 after they found three more bodies on Monday.
Mr Nauaito said that 130 people were on the ferry. 94 people died and about 11 people were taken to the hospital.

Lost Canadian soldier allegedly killed in avalanche in Switzerland
The Canadian military said a soldier is believed to have died after getting trapped in an avalanche while on vacation in Switzerland.

The court said it’s okay to punish people for being gay. They can get the death penalty or go to prison for a long time if they are accused of being gay.
Last year, President Yoweri Museveni approved the Anti-Homosexuality Act. Many people in East Africa support it, but rights groups and others outside of the country strongly disagree with it.
The court said that LGBT people should not be treated unfairly when trying to get medicine, but the US Secretary of State said that this isn’t enough to protect their rights.

Dozens of Israeli forces pulledout from southern Gaza

St. Jerome, Quebec school forced to discard thousands of fake solar eclipse glasses
A school in Saint-Jerome, Quebec had to get rid of lots of fake solar eclipse glasses that they bought on Amazon.
The Riviere-du-Nord school services center said that 3,700 glasses bought by Ecole Polyvalente Sainte-Jerome had to be thrown away because some of them were not the same as the others. Students and teachers noticed this.
“There were some real ones,” said Nadyne Brochu, who works at the service center. “In the glasses we got, when the school started giving them out to students, teachers saw that some glasses were not as clear as others. ” When they were unsure, they did some research and found out that the supplier’s product had been copied.
Brochu said the school called the Montreal Science Centre and decided to throw away the glasses to make sure no one gets hurt from wearing them.
Brochy said it was impossible to check every pair of glasses received, so they made the decision stronger.
The American Astronomical Society (AAS) said in March that fake glasses are made by one company with a fake name and design printed on them.

He said Israel can protect itself, but should not harm innocent people.
Jonathan Duguay, a good friend of Flickinger who was working in Cyprus for World Central Kitchen during the attack, said in an interview with The Canadian Press that Flickinger wasn’t scared. This is because the aid deliveries were planned together with help from Israel.
“We made a deal with the IDF,” said Duguay. âThere was a special path. “They knew our location. ”
Flickinger started working with World Central Kitchen last year to help him with the stress and difficulties he experienced after serving in Afghanistan. He and his partner, Sandy Leclerc, had just moved to Costa Rica with their 18-month-old son.

Two workmen hurt in hydro explosion and customers lose electricity in Toronto
Many people in the Distillery District of Toronto don’t have electricity because of an explosion in a hydro vault on Saturday morning. Two workers were hurt and had to go to the hospital.
Toronto Fire said their team got a call around 12:55 am about a problem with an electrical vault in the area around Lake Shore Boulevard and Don Roadway. They saw some smoke and haze coming from the vault.
Paramedics said two men were brought to the hospital. One had serious but not life-threatening injuries, while the other had minor injuries.
Toronto Hydro said that two workers got hurt while they were doing work for another company in the “cable chamber. ”
“We are still getting information, but the site is safe now,” said Toronto Hydro spokesperson Lauren Harris.

The court case will start on April 15th. This is the first of four cases against Trump that will go to trial. It would also be the first time a former president has a trial for a crime.
