Sara Sharif’s dead body was discovered at her house on August 10th.

Focus on women’s bill as new Indian parliament opens
The Indian government has passed a new law that guarantees that one-third of seats in the lower house of parliament and state assemblies will be reserved for women.
The bill has been causing disagreements for many years since it was first suggested in 1996. Some political parties have been against it, which has caused delays in its progress.
It will happen again before the general elections in May 2024.
On Tuesday, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced it during the first meeting of MPs in the country’s new parliament building.
The bill is not yet a law because it needs to be approved by both houses of parliament and signed by the Indian president.
During his first speech at the new parliament building, Mr. Modi praised the suggested laws and mentioned that it was an important moment for the nation.
The world knows that it’s not sufficient to only talk about women leading development. He said that it is a good step and asked lawmakers to support the bill.
The Prime Minister also criticized the opposition and said that the previous governments led by the Congress party did not pass the bill when they were in charge.
There have been talks for a long time about reserving spots for women. “We can proudly say that we have made history,” he said.
Mr Modi opened a new parliament building in May, but no work has happened there yet.
He organized a special five-day meeting that started on Monday, but the first day’s gathering took place in the old parliament building.
On Tuesday morning, the members of both houses of lawmakers gathered together for a photo session at the old building. After that, they had an event to remember and honor the history of the parliament in the Central Hall of the British-era building.
After that, they relocated to the new parliament building, which was officially named the Parliament House of India by the lower house of parliament.
The meeting is happening even though opposition leaders are upset. They believe that the government has not told people about everything that might be discussed this week.
The government says there are eight bills to talk about in the session. However, this could change or more bills could be added later in the week.
The government is building a new parliament building in Delhi as part of their plan to replace old government buildings from the colonial era.
The new building is located in front of the old parliament. It has four floors and it cost around 9. 7 billion rupees ($117 million, £94 million) to build. The new building is larger and can accommodate 1,272 MPs.
The Lok Sabha chamber, where the lower house of the parliament will sit, is built to look similar to a peacock, which is India’s national bird. The Rajya Sabha chamber, where the upper house will sit, looks like a lotus flower. The lotus is India’s national flower and also the symbol of Mr. Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party, which won the election.
The current building where the members of parliament meet will be changed into a place where people can go to learn and see things of historical and cultural value. -

80 Prison officers failed to show up for work on the day terror suspect Daniel Khalife escaped
On the day Daniel Khalife escaped from HMP Wandsworth, 80 prison officers did not come to work.
Khalife, who is 21 years old, was kept in jail at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
He got away from Wandsworth Prison on September 6 by tying himself to the bottom of a food delivery truck.
Khalife got arrested and taken off a bike last Saturday on a path near a canal in West London. This happened because a police officer who was not wearing a uniform saw him.
The number of people who were not at work on September 6 is 39% of all the workers, as reported by justice minister Damian Hinds.
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, the Member of Parliament for Tooting from the Labour Party, inquired about the number of shift slots and the percentage of unfilled slots at Wandsworth Prison on a specific date.
Mr Hinds said that on September 6, 2023, there were 1,594 prisoners being kept at HMP Wandsworth.Band 3 Prison No. 125 On that day, jail officers showed up for their shift. This equals 61% of the workers who are expected to attend.
‘On that day, 80 officers failed to show up for their scheduled duty at the prison.’
According to the Conservative MP for East Hampshire, staffing levels at the jail were still over the bare minimum necessary, and on the day in issue, every employee in the gatehouse and kitchen was on duty.
He continued, “The staffing level was not found to be a contributing factor” in the preliminary examination into Khalife’s escape.

Creating a single currency by 2027 achievable – Finance Minister to West African leaders
Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta has emphasized the importance of West African leaders to intensify their efforts to steer their economies toward a path of recovery.
During the 50th Meeting of the Convergence Council of Ministers and Governors of the Central Banks of the Member States of the West African Monetary Zone,he asserted, was a crucial step in the realization of the proposed single currency for the region.
‘’it has become imperative for Member States to continue to implement prudent fiscal, monetary and exchange rate policies and adopt policy measures aimed at enhancing domestic revenue mobilization and diversification of our economies’’ he said.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) adopted a roadmap for launching a common currency, Eco, in June 2021.
In his view, a single currency programme, and more broadly, the economic integration agenda, had been a long journey, but he hoped the meeting would intensify achievable commitments towards this program.
‘’Given the challenging macroeconomic environment facing ECOWAS the dream to a single currency may seem distant, perhaps even utopian, to some…, but we cannot relent’’ Mr Ofori-Atta assured.
The Minister highlighted a series of significant factors that have played a substantial role in contributing to the macroeconomic imbalances within the sub-region, including the disruptive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine War, persistent terrorist threats, instances of military coups, regional fragility, and various other security challenges.
These complexities, he argued, should not be viewed as insurmountable obstacles, especially as the set date for the introduction of the single currency in 2027 approaches.
Mr. Ofori-Atta stressed the imperative of maintaining a steadfast commitment to regional integration while avoiding the adoption of excessively short-term policies in response to the current challenges.
In this regard, he called for the implementation of medium to long-term solutions that would effectively address the adverse economic conditions and lay the necessary foundations for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Among the strategies discussed, the Minister highlighted the importance of capitalizing on the progress achieved in trade integration and financial integration, while also charting a clearer and more definitive path toward the realization of the ECO currency for the region.
This approach, he asserted, would be instrumental in overcoming the existing economic imbalances and fostering greater economic stability and prosperity within West Africa.

People harassed and abused in ‘prison-like’ conditions at immigration facility – inquiry finds
A recently conducted investigation discovered that employees at an immigration center, which resembled a prison, used racist words and physically forced detainees to move without any clothes on.
The investigation found that the Brook House immigration removal centre, located near Gatwick Airport in West Sussex, was not suitable for keeping people detained for anything other than a short amount of time.
The investigation, led by Kate Eves, started two years after a 2017 Panorama investigation into reported mistreatment experienced on the site.
In a very long report, it was found that Brook House did not provide a good and safe environment for the people in detention or the staff when these things happened.
The report says that in July 2017, most people stayed at the facility for about 44 days. But there were also five people who had been there for one to two years.
Ms Eves made 33 suggestions in her report. One of her suggestions was to have a maximum time limit of 28 days for someone to be held at an IRC.
But she did not say that Brook House should be closed, even though a lawyer representing people who were kept there suggested it to the investigation.
The report says that it was normal for staff to use racist and disrespectful words when talking about detainees. They also found that unacceptable and sometimes abusive actions were dismissed as harmless joking.
Ms Eves said that there was a lot of evidence showing that the people working on the site were too quick to use force. They also kept saying the phrase “if he dies, he dies” in a mocking way many times.
She mentioned a situation shown on Panorama where a detention officer put his hands around a detainee’s neck and used offensive language towards him, threatening to harm him.
In other situations, there were men who were forced to move without clothes or with very little clothes on. There were also staff members who just watched a person who had passed out after trying to hurt themselves, without doing anything to help.
Ms Eves didn’t like the answers given by the Home Office and contractor G4S, who were in charge of the center at the time.
She said that she disagreed with the story told by both the Home Office and G4S about the events at Brook House. They claimed that only a few G4S staff were responsible for what happened, but she believed that their claims were just a way for both organizations to avoid taking blame.
Serco has taken over the management of the center from G4S.Ms Eves wants the government to answer her suggestions in the next six months.
A spokesperson from the Home Office said: “The mistreatment that happened at Brook House in 2017 was not right. ”
The government has made important changes to make sure that people who are detained are taken care of and treated well. They have made the rules stronger, made sure that everything is done in a clear and honest way, and made sure that the people they hire to do this work are doing a good job.
We are dedicated to keeping everyone safe and secure in all Immigration Removal Centres. We will also make sure to learn from the Brook House incident so that it never happens again.
‘We are grateful to the Chair and Inquiry team for their report and are currently reviewing each recommendation carefully. ‘ -

More than 1,000 Met officers removed from active duty due to inefficiency and corruption in UK
Over 1,000 police officers from the Metropolitan Police are currently not working or have limited duties because the force is trying to remove staff who are corrupt or not capable of doing their job properly.
However, it may take a long time for the force to remove officers who have broken rules or didn’t pass background checks.
The Metropolitan Police is being urged to fire officers who are not capable or may be harmful, especially after the Wayne Couzens and David Carrick incidents. It’s concerning because both officers were working together in the same unit.
It has been revealed that one-third of the staff in the squad where Carrick and Couzens worked has been removed to completely reorganize the unit.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said that around 60 officers could lose their jobs every month for the next two years. Around 30 officers could be facing investigations for misconduct, while another 30 officers could be having hearings due to severe incompetence.
Out of the 34,000 officers in the Met, 201 have been suspended and around 860 are limited in their duties.
He said, “It will take one, two, or more years to remove the people who are corrupt. ”
1,600 cases were looked at after Carrick received a life sentence for many sexual crimes. These cases involved police officers who were accused of domestic or sexual violence in the last 10 years, but nothing was done about it.
Out of the cases being looked at, there are around 450 investigations currently happening.
The Met has also provided information about how they deal with disciplinary actions.
“In the last year, 100 officers lost their jobs for serious wrongdoing, which is 66% higher than the usual rate. ”
Currently, there are 201 officers who are not working, which is more than the 69 officers who were not working in September of last year.
275 people are waiting for a serious misconduct hearing, and a big number of them are accused of being violent towards women and girls. This is compared to 136 cases from last year.
The amount of reports from people and police officers claiming misconduct has increased twice as much.
The police force has checked all officers against the records on their computer. They found 11 cases that needed to be looked into more closely, and now five of those cases are being investigated for serious misconduct.
14 people are being looked at more closely to see if they did something really wrong, and there will probably be more people added to the investigation.
The worst case out of all the cases reviewed was about accusations of rape.
On Monday, the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, said that they have plans to make it simpler for police chiefs to fire bad officers. She announced this in a written statement to the Commons.
This means that if someone is found to have done something really wrong, they will be fired. It also means that if officers don’t pass background checks, they can be fired as well.
If someone is found guilty of certain crimes, like sexual offenses, it will be considered very bad behavior, and the responsibility for overseeing punishment hearings will go back to the top officers instead of independent people who know the law well. -

I don’t support Wendy Shay’s statement that ‘every man cheats’ – Joe Mettle
Gospel musician Joe Mettle has firmly contested the assertion put forth by his fellow artist, Wendy Shay, within one of her songs, wherein she contended that every man is predisposed to engage in acts of infidelity.
Joe Mettle, known for his hit song ‘Boo no ni’ and having been honored as the Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in the past, unequivocally rejected the notion that all men share a proclivity for unfaithfulness based on the fact that some individuals of the male gender do, in fact, engage in extramarital affairs.
He expressed the perspective that the actions of a minority should not be used as a basis for sweeping generalizations that apply to the entirety of the male population, highlighting the diversity of human behavior and choices.
Furthermore, Joe Mettle conveyed his profound astonishment at this particular perspective, particularly because it was articulated by a woman, Wendy Shay.
During his interview with Peace FM Entertainment Review, Joe Mettle asserted that Wendy Shay’s statement might have been influenced by her personal experiences, acknowledging her as a victim, but he firmly asserted that labeling every man as prone to cheating was an inaccurate and unjust notion.
“She [Wendy Shay] the woman said every man cheats? It should be a man who can say that. Maybe she said that because of the experience he had with her boyfriend. I am telling you as a man that it is not true [that every man cheats].
“And especially when you say every man cheats, you didn’t say it well. Some people say most men cheat but when you say every man cheats, then that’s wrong,” he said.
He added, “You can ask other men if that [every man cheats] is true but I totally disagree.”
Gospel artiste, Joe Mettle, made the remark when he was quizzed on what he makes of Wendy Shay’s song that had a line that said, “Every man cheats.”

Kim Jong-un inspects Russian warships, missiles, and bombers with nuclear weapons
Russia’s ambassador to North Korea, Alexander Matsegora, told reporters that Kim’s programme was ‘very intense’ and that it was not yet clear how long he would remain in Russia, state news agency RIA reported.
It also quoted Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of Vladivostok’s Primorye region, as saying he would have talks with Kim on Sunday on cooperation in sport, tourism and culture.
After the aircraft and missiles, Kim inspected the Russian Pacific Fleet’s frigate ‘Marshal Shaposhnikov’ in Vladivostok and saw a demonstration of modern missile control systems, RIA said.
South Korea and the United States said on Friday that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia would violate UN sanctions against Pyongyang and that the allies would ensure there was a price to pay.
Russia has gone out of its way to publicise Kim’s visit and drop repeated hints about the prospect of military cooperation with North Korea, which was formed in 1948 with the backing of the Soviet Union.
For Putin, who says Moscow is locked in an existential battle with the West over Ukraine, courting Kim allows him to needle Washington and its Asian allies while potentially securing a deep supply of artillery for the Ukraine war.
Washington has accused North Korea of providing arms to Russia, which has the world’s biggest store of nuclear warheads, but it is unclear whether any deliveries have been made.
Kim on Friday inspected a Russian fighter jet factory that is under Western sanctions.
He and Putin discussed military matters, the war in Ukraine and deepening cooperation when they met on Wednesday.
Putin told reporters Russia was ‘not going to violate anything’, but would keep developing relations with North Korea.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters there had not been a plan to sign any formal agreements during the visit.
Russian diplomats said Washington had no right to lecture Moscow after the United States had bolstered its allies across the world, including with a visit of a US nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarine to South Korea in July.
While in Vladivostok, Kim watched the first act of the ballet ‘Sleeping Beauty’, staged by St Petersburg’s Mariinsky theatre, the RIA news agency reported.

Putin drops biggest hint yet about astounding number of Russians he has killed
Vladimir Putin has requested nearly 250,000 certificates for Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine.
Around 230,000 certificates have been created for the families of soldiers who have passed away, as stated by the Russian government through Verstka media outlet.
This provides the best estimate of how many Russian soldiers have died, because the government only admits to the deaths of 6,000 publicly.
The papers are given to women whose husbands died and to the kids of soldiers.
An additional 757,305 certificates were bought for soldiers who survived a war, making the total number of Russian soldiers involved close to one million.
Verstka said that the numbers could give us an idea of how many Russians were involved in the fights and how many were injured or killed, but not exactly.
Ukraine says that over 270,000 soldiers from Russia have died in the war.
At an event where people receive awards in August, Putin was seen with Angelina Ivanov. She is the wife of a Colonel named Denis Ivanov who was killed, and together they have two children.
The wife of the killed Guard Captain Roman Vorobyov was seen in a picture with Vladimir Putin during a state award ceremony on August 2, 2023.
He also saw the wife of the guard captain who was killed.
This week, Ukraine stated that over 270,000 Russian soldiers have died in a war caused by Putin’s wish to invade Ukraine, which is its neighboring country.
Two separate news sources investigated the conflict and discovered that approximately 50,000 men have died.
According to experts, Kremlin officials have been consistently attempting to hide the death count, but their efforts have not been successful.
Mediazona and Meduza partnered with a data scientist from Tubingen University in Germany to find a more accurate representation of the number of lives that have been lost. -

Controversy over assassinated Sikh activist intensifies as India expels Canadian envoy as tit-for-tat measure
Canada believes that India might have had a role in the killing of a Sikh activist in Canada. This has caused tensions between Canada and India, leading to the expulsion of senior diplomats from both countries. As a result, the relationship between the two nations has worsened.
The diplomatic expulsions happened because Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada is looking into claims that suggest India might be involved in the murder of a Canadian citizen and important Sikh leader named Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
In recent weeks, Canadian security agencies have been investigating claims that people from the Indian government may have been involved in the murder of a Canadian citizen named Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister, stated in parliament on Monday that his government will do everything necessary to bring those responsible for the murder to justice.
Canada announced that it has expelled an Indian diplomat, whom the foreign affairs minister Mélanie Joly claimed to be the leader of Indian intelligence agency in Canada.
“Today we are removing an important diplomat, but we will investigate and find out the truth,” she said to the media in Ottawa. She also mentioned that Trudeau has discussed this matter with both US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
India’s foreign ministry replied by expelling a Canadian diplomat who held a high position in India.
The diplomat has been told to leave India in the next five days, according to a statement. The Indian government is worried about Canadian diplomats getting involved in our internal affairs and doing things against India. That’s why they made this decision.
Nijjar, a well-known Sikh leader in western Canada, was killed by two masked gunmen outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia.
The Sikh community in Canada, which is one of the biggest communities outside of India and has over 770,000 members, was both surprised and angry about his death.
After Trudeau spoke, two important Sikh organizations in Canada, the British Columbia Gurdwaras Council (BCGC) and Ontario Gurdwaras Committee (OGC), asked the Canadian government to stop working together with India on intelligence, investigations, and prosecution right away.
The groups said that Canada’s response should match the seriousness of India’s involvement in the planned killing of a Sikh dissident living in Canada.
Nijjar strongly supported the idea of creating a separate place for Sikhs called Khalistan. He frequently led peaceful protests against the violation of human rights happening in India and in support of Khalistan.
The Khalistan movement is not allowed in India and the government sees it as a danger to the country’s safety. Many groups connected to the movement are regarded as “terrorist organizations” according to India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Nijjar was included in the Home Ministry’s list of terrorists under the UAPA.In 2020, the Indian National Investigation Agency said that he tried to influence Sikhs worldwide to support the creation of Khalistan. They also said he tried to encourage Sikhs to vote for separation, protest against the Indian government, and engage in violent actions.
India said they did not agree with Trudeau’s claims and thought they were silly and biased.
“We are a country that believes in democracy and strongly follows rules and laws,” a statement from the foreign ministry said.
These false claims are trying to divert attention from the fact that Canada is harboring and supporting Khalistani terrorists and extremists who are a danger to India’s control over its own land and people. The fact that the Canadian Government has not taken any action on this issue has been a problem for a long time and it continues to be a concern.
The White House is very worried about the accusations, according to a spokesperson for the National Security Council named Adrienne Watson.
We keep talking to our Canadian friends on a regular basis. She stated that it is very important for Canada to continue the investigation and for the people who did the crime to be punished.
The Canadian police have not taken anyone into custody related to Nijjar’s murder. However, in August, the police said that they were looking into three possible suspects and provided information about a potential vehicle used to escape the crime scene. They also requested assistance from the public.
A person speaking on behalf of Australia’s foreign minister, Penny Wong, said that the country is also very worried about the accusations.
We are working closely with our partners to stay updated on the progress and changes. We have expressed our worries to high-ranking officials in India, according to a statement shared with CNN.
We know that these reports might worry some communities in Australia. The Indian diaspora is important to our diverse society, and they contribute positively. In our country, everyone can freely express their opinions without fear.
The Canadian government is accusing the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is likely to make the relationship between Canada and India even worse.
A trade deal that was happening between them has been stopped for now, said India’s commerce and trade minister, as reported locally. The minister mentioned that there are some important concerns that need to be looked into.
The problem of activism among the big Sikh community in Canada has been causing tension for a while.
When Modi met with the G20 leaders in New Delhi recently, he didn’t have a private meeting with Trudeau. Instead, they met during the summit, where Modi expressed his worries about extremist activities in Canada. The Indian government made a statement about it.
The two leaders have not been getting along for many years.
In 2018, Trudeau went to India. Many people thought that his schedule, which didn’t have many important meetings, was considered a disrespect by the Indian government.
At that time, experts believed that Trudeau’s perceived support for Sikh activists was a major issue of disagreement.
In 2017, the leader of Canada was seen at a gathering of Sikhs in Toronto. At the event, there were flags and posters supporting a Sikh leader who was killed in a military operation by the Indian Army in 1984.
The Indian government is worried that Canadian politicians openly show support for these people who Trudeau accused.
The statement mentioned that illegal activities like murders, human trafficking, and organized crime have been happening for a while in Canada. We want the Canadian Government to quickly and effectively take legal action against anyone who is against India and lives in Canada.
The Sikh religion started in Punjab, a place in India, in the 15th century. Guru Nanak was the one who started it. Now, there are around 25 million people who follow Sikhism all over the world. In India, Sikhs make up less than 2% of the population, which is about 1. 4However, in the northern state of Punjab, they are the majority. Punjab used to have a strong Sikh empire in the past.
The modern Khalistan movement started around the time when India gained independence from Britain in 1947. During this time, some Sikhs wanted to create a separate nation called Khalistan in the state of Punjab for people who follow the Sikh religion.
When the Partition quickly split the old colony based on religion – Muslims went to Pakistan and Hindus and Sikhs went to India – Punjab, which was divided in two, experienced severe violence.
During this period, Sikhs started to fight more intensely for control over their own politics and culture, according to experts. The Khalistan movement became more well-known.
In the past, there have been fights between the movement’s supporters and the Indian government, where many people have died.
In 1984, Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave an order to the army to attack the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The Golden Temple is a very important place for the Sikh religion. She did this because she wanted to kill Sikh people who wanted to separate from India. The Sikh community was really mad about that action, and Gandhi was killed by her Sikh bodyguards afterwards.
After she died, there was a lot of violent fighting that resulted in the deaths of more than 3,000 people, most of whom were Sikh.
A year afterwards, the violence moved to Canada. Sikh separatists exploded a bomb on an Air India plane that had recently left from Toronto airport. This resulted in the death of all 329 people on board, including many Canadians with Indian heritage.
Khalistan supporters in India have little support, but some Sikhs living in other countries like Canada, Britain, and Australia still sympathize with the movement.
A few Sikhs believe in Khalistan, where they want to have their own separate country. They hold votes every now and then to try to agree on making this happen. -

Russia and China applaud their cooperation in advance of Putin’s scheduled trip to Beijing
The top diplomats from Russia and China had a meeting in Moscow to talk about working together more closely on global issues. They also talked about an important visit that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be making to Beijing soon.
The two countries will work together at the UN General Assembly and other important meetings, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Wang, a person from China, went to Russia for a four-day trip. While Wang was in Russia, there was a meeting. At the same time, Han Zheng, who is the Vice President of China, met with Antony Blinken, who is the Secretary of State of the United States, in New York. They talked about keeping communication open between their countries.
The meeting between Wang and Sullivan in Malta last weekend might make it easier for Biden and Xi to meet in November during the APEC summit in the United States.
The Chinese government has been doing a lot of diplomatic work recently. This is because both China and the United States want to improve their relationship, which has become more and more difficult. Additionally, Chinese leaders want to change the way the world is governed because they think that the current system is controlled too much by Western countries. They believe that Russia is an important partner in achieving this goal.
During their meeting on Monday, Wang told Lavrov that China and Russia should collaborate to create a world where power is shared among many countries. He also mentioned that both countries have a duty to keep the world stable and peaceful.
Wang said China and Russia should work together more closely and make global governance fairer in response to one-sided actions and confrontations. This statement is in line with how China often describes actions from the US.
Wang also said that China and Russia’s relationship is not focused on or influenced by any other country.
“The diplomat said that China and Russia choose their own ways of dealing with other countries. ”
The information suggests that Putin is likely to visit China next month. Lavrov said that Russia will prepare for important meetings between the two countries.
During a meeting in Moscow in March, Xi invited Putin to come to a conference that is going to happen next month in Beijing. A person who works for the Kremlin said recently that the leader of Russia plans to go to China this summer.
Putin has not traveled much to other countries since he invaded Ukraine. This year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Putin because they believe he committed war crimes. He is now isolated from other countries diplomatically.
The meeting between the two leaders in March, which happened when Russia was attacking Ukraine, made it clear that Beijing is very dedicated to building a good relationship with Moscow. This resulted in over twelve agreements to strengthen collaboration in different areas like trade, technology, and state propaganda, as mentioned in a list provided by the Kremlin.
We work in tough situations when the world is going through major changes. In simpler words: Lavrov said during his meeting with Wang on Monday that it was very important that our leaders set clear directions for strengthening our strategic relationship in March of this year.
The war between Russia and Ukraine has changed their relationship. Because of sanctions, Moscow is now depending more on China for economic and diplomatic support.
China is trying to present itself as someone who can help make peace and is not favoring any particular side in the conflict. At the same time, China is supporting Russia financially and has not asked them to stop their attacks or remove their troops.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that Lavrov and Wang both agreed that they need to think about Russia’s interests when trying to solve the conflict in Ukraine.
“The parties talked extensively about the current situation in Ukraine, recognizing that it is pointless to try and solve the crisis without considering everyone’s interests, especially without involving Russia,” the statement explained.
China’s summary said that they have consistently followed the peace talks and they promise to help find a political solution to the crisis.
Wang came to Moscow on Monday after a big meeting between Putin and Kim Jong Un last week. The US was worried that this meeting could result in North Korea giving weapons to Moscow for the war in Ukraine. -

182,831 eligible voters registered in the ongoing Limited Registration – EC

Police arrest 5 Ghanaians linked to pro-Wagner propaganda campaign
Five Ghanaian individuals have been in police custody since August of this year and subsequently appeared in court, where they faced charges related to an alleged conspiracy to overthrow the government and disrupt the peace.
This arrest, which occurred on August 14, 2023, was connected to a protest organized by a pro-Russian group led by Michael Asiedu, who serves as the administrator of Mikado News, a Facebook blog boasting 1.5K followers known for disseminating pro-Russian content.
According to a comprehensive report by GhanaFact, these arrests took place because these individuals were seen wearing shirts bearing inscriptions related to Wagner, a paramilitary group. Investigations indicated that the protest in question transpired on August 13, 2023, at Diabene Park in Takoradi, the capital of Ghana’s Western Region.
The rally witnessed the participation of numerous young people, some of whom displayed placards with various slogans, including “Biden is a warmonger” and “Long live Russia.” Flags of Ghana, Russia, Niger, Mali, and Algeria were also visible at the event.
Subsequently, on August 18, 2023, Michael Asiedu and the four others were granted bail and scheduled to appear in court on October 3, 2023.
GhanaFact’s report delves into the activities of Asiedu and his associates, highlighting their involvement in promoting a pro-Russian agenda believed to be in the broader interests of the Russian mercenary group, Wagner.
The report details their online campaigns and the methods they employed to raise funds for the August protest. The Telegram pages used by this network served as sources for disseminating information, with posts on these pages being replicated across other platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
Furthermore, the report uncovers podcasts and Twitter space conversations where plans for the pro-Russian/pro-Wagner protests in Ghana were discussed, along with logistical issues related to their operations in the country.
During these investigations, it was determined that Michael Asiedu played a pivotal role as the local point person for the Ghana project. He administers Mikado News, a Facebook page with 1.5K followers that regularly publishes pro-Russian content.
In preparation for the pro-Russian/pro-Wagner protest, three online events in the form of podcasts and Twitter spaces were organized on August 5, 10, and 12, 2023. These events discussed various aspects, including venue, expected turnout, funding, and political support.
Aussie Cossack, who hosted the August 5 podcast on TNT radio, mentioned that the Russian Embassy had been informed about the planned protest but chose not to be directly involved in its organization.
The August 10 discussion, hosted by DDGeopolitics on Twitter, featured Aussie Cossack stating that the rally organizers had the backing of the Russian Government, the Soviet Peace Fund, and the Wagner PMC, while also cautioning against any harassment of participants, including by the Ghana Police Service.
The investigation further revealed that Aussie Cossack’s real name is Simeon Boikov, an Australian citizen with pro-Russian leanings who is currently seeking asylum at the Russian Embassy in Sydney, Australia.
During these online discussions, concerns were raised about Ghanaian authorities potentially refusing to grant permission for the rally due to the government’s stance on the Wagner group.
In their final engagement on August 12, 2023, Aussie Cossack confirmed that he had sent crowdsourced funds and Russian flags to Michael Asiedu through Western Union and the Russian Embassy in Ghana.
Regarding protest funding in Ghana, an appeal for funds was made on August 6, 2023, urging people to support the pro-Russian/pro-Wagner protests. GhanaFact’s investigations estimated that approximately $6,000 was used in organizing the protest.
Evidence revealed that AUD 2471.5 was directly sent to the protest organizers in Ghana, with AUD 691.5 allocated for the purchase and shipment of 200 Russian flags to the Russian embassy in Ghana.
Additionally, there were reports of an earlier shipment of 100 flags to Ghana by Aussie Cossack on August 5, as detailed in publications by two Russian online newspapers, RiaNovosty and EADaily.
Lastly, GhanaFact uncovered a receipt dated August 7, 2023, in the name of the Wagner PMC, indicating the purchase of 1000 T-shirts for the protestors at a cost of GHS 50,000 or $4,300.

Keep Dampare as IGP, Ken Agyapong warns NPP
Parliament’s Chairman of the Defence and Interior Committee and a presidential aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has emphatically stated that removing Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from his position as Inspector General of Police (IGP) would be a significant mistake on the part of the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr. Agyapong, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and harbors aspirations to lead the NPP in the upcoming 2024 elections, underscored the remarkable performance of Dr. Dampare in his role as IGP, a performance that, according to him, is readily apparent to all observers.
During a radio interview conducted on Kumasi-based Kessben FM over the weekend, Mr. Agyapong asserted that there has been a noticeable reduction in criminal activities such as robberies throughout the country since Dr. Dampare assumed the role of IGP.
This declaration from Mr. Agyapong has emerged amidst heightened public interest in the activities of a special parliamentary committee, tasked with investigating an alleged conspiracy involving some senior police officers seeking to remove Dr. Dampare from his position, as purportedly captured in a recorded conversation.
Mr. Agyapong passionately argued that Dr. Dampare ranks among the finest individuals to have ever held the position of IGP in Ghana’s history, and as such, the government should resist any efforts aimed at ousting him from office.
“How many times have you heard of armed robbery since Dampare was made IGP? People were being killed and their money was being stolen in broad daylight. How many times have you seen this since Dampare came into office? Under him, the rate of armed robbery has reduced drastically”, he said.
He was of the view that the IGP was not being treated fairly, “Since I became the head of the Defence and Interior Committee, we have had a number of IGPs, and this man (Dampare), what he has done, I don’t think we are being fair to him… Don’t make the mistake of removing him.
Mr Agyapong also said the IGP has transformed the police headquarters such that the place now looks so clean and beautiful.
“I have called one of the guys (in the leaked tape) who is from my village and blasted him. We don’t like change,” he added.
“If you go to the police headquarters, you will realize that the man (Dr Dampare) has done well… I have fought with him once because of his refusal to act when the killer of J.B. Danquah confessed to him, but he has done really well”.

40 Chief Inspectors sue IGP Dampare for denying them promotion
Forty Chief Inspectors within the Ghana Police Service have initiated legal action against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare, alleging that they have been subjected to an unjustifiable denial of promotions.
This legal action has been formalized through a writ submitted to the High Court in Kumasi.
In their writ, these police officers assert that they have been systematically excluded from a series of promotional opportunities initiated by the police service.
These promotions were specifically aimed at granting special amnesty to officers who had acquired degrees before the year 2020, particularly those who were inducted into the service subsequent to this time.
The crux of their argument is that, despite serving in the police force for a substantial duration ranging from 25 to 30 years, they have been denied the opportunity to advance their careers.
They contend that their junior colleagues, who are beneficiaries of the same amnesty program, have been promoted while they have been denied entry into the Police Academy, a pivotal step in their journey toward becoming Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).
In light of these circumstances, the 40 plaintiffs, as outlined in the writ available on Graphic Online, are now seeking legal remedy. They are urging the court to issue an order compelling the IGP and other defendants to elevate their ranks, provide them with direct access to the Police Academy, and compensate them for the financial losses they have incurred due to the failure to secure promotions.
This situation is ongoing, and further developments may follow.

British soldier in Ukraine allegedly ‘tortured and killed by another Brit’
A British ex-soldier, who passed away after choosing to fight for Ukraine, might have been subjected to torture and killed by another British fighter.
Jordan Chadwick, a 31-year-old man from Burnley, Lancashire, went to the war-torn country in October 2022 to help bring freedom, according to his family.
The ex-Scots Guard was part of a group called the International Legion. This group consisted of many foreign fighters who supported the Ukrainian armed forces.
Chadwick’s body was discovered in water near Kramatorsk, with his hands tied behind his back. This happened in June, near Bakhmut in the northwest.
According to The Sun, Chadwick’s fellow British fighter allegedly waterboarded him, as claimed by his comrades.
Before an official investigation into Chadwick’s death in February, Ukrainian investigators have discovered that the water in his lungs does not match the location where his body was found.
The State Bureau of Investigation in Ukraine is in charge of investigating cases involving police, soldiers, and high-ranking officials.
The DBR agency and the British Embassy in Kyiv have not made any comments about the investigation.
Last week, The Telegraph mentioned that Chadwick worked with a secretive team called Team 50/50. This team was a part of the Legion’s military intelligence division, known as the Legionnaires Special Service Group (LSSG).
Chadwick might have been shot during a small argument or killed by mistake during a ritual, as mentioned in the newspaper based on reports.

Zelensky compares Putin to Hitler and issues warning that third world war
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky strongly criticized the Kremlin.
He claims that there could be a World War III if the US does not continue to finance his country’s effort to resist Russia’s unlawful invasion of Ukraine. He also referred to Vladimir Putin as a ‘second Hitler’.
Mr Zelensky was on a TV show called 60 Minutes yesterday. He said that everyone in the world needs to decide if they want to stop Putin or not.
According to MailOnline, the United States has already given about $70 billion towards supporting the war in Ukraine.
This week, Mr Zelensky will go to the White House and Capitol Hill. He is visiting the US capital during the United Nations General Assembly.
He went to Washington in December 2022. It was his first trip outside Ukraine since Russia invaded in February last year.
Mr Zelensky said on CBS News that we all have to choose between stopping Putin or starting a world war.
We cannot alter Putin. The world no longer respects Russian society.
‘They chose him once, chose him again, and helped another person become like Hitler. ‘ They performed this task.
We cannot reverse or return to the past. But we can end it now.
We are protecting the beliefs and principles that are important to everyone in the world. And these are the people from Ukraine who are having to pay the most money.
We are putting up a real fight to gain our freedom, and it’s costing us our lives.
We are real people, not characters in a story. We are in a serious battle against a country with nuclear weapons that could harm the entire world.
What will happen in ten years if Ukraine is in trouble. Just imagine it.
‘If the Russians go to Poland, what will happen next. Will there be a Third World War. ‘
The US Congress is unsure about giving Ukraine more money. Biden wants to give an additional $13. 1 billion for military help and $8. 5 billion for helping people in need.
Some Republican politicians want to reduce spending, and a few of them want to completely stop sending money to Ukraine.
Mr Zelensky was asked if he thought the US would keep giving Ukraine the same amount of support as the $70 billion they have already sent.
He said, “The USA is giving money to Ukraine and I appreciate it. ”
I feel like they are not only helping Ukraine. If Ukraine is defeated, Putin will probably advance even more.
What will America do when Putin gets to the Baltic countries. What about when he gets to the border of Poland.
‘This is a large amount of money. ‘ We are very thankful. What more does Ukraine need to do for everyone to understand how thankful we are. We are suffering greatly in this war.
When Mr Zelensky was asked how much more money Ukraine would need, he couldn’t say exactly how much.
I do not know the answer. I believe he will keep on making threats,” he said.
He is waiting for the United States to become more calm and steady. He believes that it will occur during the US election.
He will be searching for situations of uncertainty in Europe and the United States of America. He will use the danger of using nuclear weapons to make the situation more unstable. He will continue to intimidate.
But when someone asked if he would be willing to give up any part of Ukraine for peace, including Crimea, Mr Zelensky answered with a simple “no. ”
He said, “This belongs to us. ” A week ago, I gave medals to the parents of soldiers who had died. There were 24 groups of people whose family members had died.
There was a woman who had three kids, and there were parents who were very old and had trouble walking. The older parents only had one son.
One of the women was having a baby, she was holding the baby, and that baby will never see their dad.
“What should I say to them. That everyone died just so we could tell Russia that it’s okay to take everything. ”
“It’s tough to give awards to people whose faces clearly show that their entire world has fallen apart. ”
I can only offer them success. -

Putin suffers another setback as two senior Russian commanders killed in Ukraine
Vladimir Putin received bad news when two Russian paratrooper colonels died in Ukraine around the same time.
Colonel Andrei Kondrashkin, who is 44 years old, was in charge of the 31st Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade, which is a group of soldiers who jump out of planes and fight on the ground.
Kondrashkin passed away during a fight with the Ukrainian forces near Andriivka, a village that was badly damaged by the war. Kyiv recently took control of this village.
The person named Alexander Khodakovsky, who is the deputy head of Russia’s national guard in annexed Donetsk, was the first to announce that he died yesterday.
Today, we felt a lot of pain and sadness when we heard that he had died. We send our sympathy and support to his family, friends, and comrades, Khodakovsky wrote on a messaging app called Telegram.
Khodakovsky said that he and the colonel became close while they fought together during the long siege of Mariupol last year.Khodakovsky said, “I’m sure his soul will go to heaven and he’ll wait for us there. ”
Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov said on Telegram that Kondrashkin’s group, which fought in all the big fights of the war, had to stop Ukrainian soldiers from catching a Russian rifle brigade.
Butusov said that Kondrashkin couldn’t finish the job and that the 31st Airborne Assault Brigade had many areas destroyed. Ukrainian attack planes entered the village through Kondrashkin’s defense area.
We do not know the specific details of how Kondrashkin was destroyed in these battles.
However, it is a big accomplishment to kill the leader of one of the Russian military groups.
Kondrashkin is now the most recent person on a growing list of important military officials from Russia who have either been removed from their position, passed away, or completely vanished since the war.
According to Top Cargo 200, a source that keeps track of the deaths of Russian senior military officers, there have been over 450 majors, almost 250 lieutenant colonels, and around 100 colonels who have passed away.
On September 14, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a research organization in the United States, reported that a high-ranking commander in the Russian airborne forces had passed away.According to pro-Russian military Telegram channels and the Russian independent outlet Mediazona, a Colonel named Vasily Popov, aged 38, was killed while fighting in Ukraine. The specific location was not mentioned.
Mediazona said they checked military records and found that Popov had died. The records said he was 38 years old when he died.
According to the ISW, Popov became the leader of the 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment in either August or September.
A former leader of the regiment, Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky, died in the spring of 2022.
Blogger Egor Guzenko, from the pro-war channel Thirteenth on Telegram, said on September 10 that Popov was an amazing person and a hero.
‘I don’t have any other words, and I feel bad for him,’ he said. ‘Three more men passed away with him, and I feel sad for them. ‘ -

Commander of Putin’s war in Ukraine appears to be unsure of the outcome
The losses Russia has experienced in Ukraine have left the minister in charge of Vladimir Putin’s invasion confused.
Defence minister Sergei Shoigu seemed unsure about the result of the war, as Ukrainian troops took back more land on the eastern and southern fronts in the past week of their counterattack.
A video that was widely shared on social media shows the politician being interviewed by a well-known person who spreads biased information. The interview was about whether Russia would be victorious.
Yevgeny Popov, a TV presenter and supporter of Putin, asks him: “Will we be successful. ”
The Russian defence minister looked hopeless and made a gesture with his hand when asked if Russia will win the war.
Shoigu seemed nervous and just shook his shoulders while saying to the camera: ‘We don’t have any other choices. ‘
At first, the clip was shared with edits that made it seem like the person has no more choices left in the war in Ukraine.
However, the fact that the question is being raised on Russian state television indicates that there is doubt within the Putin machine about the outcome of the war.
Shoigu talked after a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un while there are rumors of an arm deal between the two countries.
This week, a very expensive submarine called the Rostov-on-Don was destroyed by a missile called Storm Shadow which cost a lot of money.
A big ship that can land on a shore was also not able to work in the attack on the port of Sevastopol in Crimea.
Shoigu said to Popov, “We have finished the spring and summer campaign and now we are in the autumn campaign. ”
His report on state TV did not suggest that Russia had made any progress, but he insisted, without providing proof, that they were still causing damage to the Ukrainian military’s equipment and soldiers.
He said: ‘Our soldiers are staying in places to protect and defend. ‘ It is more difficult to do in certain places, and easier in others.
Shoigu said that Russian leaders are acting confidently and protecting what needs to be protected in the areas where Ukrainian forces are attempting to penetrate.
He emphasized: ‘Our main job is to break their equipment. ‘ -

Migrants factor in about 10% of known flood deaths in Libya
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) informed BBC News that around 10% of the people who died during the recent floods in Libya were migrants.
Many migrants really like Libya. According to information from the IOM, a group associated with the United Nations, more than 706,000 people who moved from one place to another lived in a country in North Africa in February 2023.
Some people live and work in Libya for a long time, while others use it as a place to stay temporarily before trying to reach Europe.
Around 400 migrants are known to have died in the floods, according to the IOM. However, this number may change as more bodies are found.
The IOM and World Health Organization have confirmed that 3,900 people have died. But, different officials have used different methods and gotten different numbers. For example, the mayor of Derna in Libya thinks that more than 20,000 people have died.
Derna was affected the most by the floods. Two dams broke because of a lot of rain and parts of the city were covered in water.
Around 10,000 migrants were living in the port city before the flood. The IOM believes that the number of migrants who died will be especially high because they were living in areas that are very prone to flooding, according to Federico Soda, the director of emergencies at the IOM. -

He claimed that no song by well-known artists like Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, or Sarkodie had achieved success comparable to “My Own.”
Samini insisted that his remarks were not intended as a criticism of the younger artists and made it clear that he was referring to the well-known figures in the field.
“There’s no hit song in space. No hit song can beat ‘My Own’ right now. No disrespect to the ‘kids.’ Don’t get me wrong. We are talking about the four ‘S'[Samini, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie.” he said on his appearance on the Day Show on TV3.
However, Samini extended his best wishes to Stonebwoy for his latest album and expressed his fondness for the track titled ‘Into the Future.’

Wang Yi, China’s top representative, visits Russia for security talks
China’s main diplomat Wang Yi is traveling to Russia to have discussions about security, as Moscow looks for ongoing assistance for its conflict with Ukraine.
China, a strong friend of Russia, is being accused of indirectly helping Russia during the war. However, China denies these claims.
He came to visit after Vladimir Putin met with Kim Jong Un from North Korea. The US was worried that they might make an agreement about weapons.
Russian media reports that Mr. Wang’s trip will prepare the way for Mr. Putin to make an important visit to Beijing in the near future.
Earlier this month, Mr Putin said he planned to meet with President Xi Jinping of China, but he did not specify the date or time of the meeting.
Some people think it’s probable that he will go to the Belt and Road Forum in the upcoming month.
He hasn’t gone to another country since the International Criminal Court said he did something wrong in March and wants to catch him for it. Putin last went to other countries in December 2022 when he visited Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
China’s foreign ministry stated that Mr. Wang is currently in Russia for four days to discuss and analyze matters related to strategic security.
According to Russian news agency Tass, the Kremlin said that he would meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, and the war in Ukraine would be an important topic of discussion.
They will also talk about increasing the number of Nato forces and infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as improving their coordination in international organizations like the UN.
China wants the Ukraine war to stop so it can fix its relationship with Europe. However, it doesn’t want to hold anyone responsible for the war because it supports Russia.
She said inviting Putin to China is a way to show support for Russia. But supporting Russia must also be seen as an effort to get Russia to the negotiating table. This is important so that China doesn’t make its position worse with the Europeans.
Mr Wang’s visit follows a few days after Mr. Putin’s very much talked-about greeting of Mr. Kim in the far east of Russia. The US claimed that the purpose of this visit was to discuss the sale of weapons from North Korea to Russia. It is believed that Moscow doesn’t have enough weapons and ammunition.
Russia and North Korea recently discussed helping each other with military activities and providing assistance for North Korea’s satellite program.
Mr Kim has finished his trip to Russia, according to the Korean Central News Agency on Monday. According to Russian and North Korean media, he is going home with some gifts which include a Russian-made gun, a glove worn by an astronaut, a vest that protects against bullets, a hat made of fur, and some military flying machines. When asked about Mr. Kim’s trip last week, China’s foreign ministry chose not to comment, stating that it was “something between their two countries. ”
But some experts think that if North Korea and Russia are supporting each other, China probably knows about it or even approves of it, because China has strong relationships with both countries.
These relationships go beyond socialist beliefs and their common lack of trust in the US and the West. Beijing has been a crucial source of economic support for Pyongyang by trading with them. In recent times, Beijing has also started buying more Russian oil and gas, which has become significant for Moscow.
Whatever is going on between Russia and North Korea cannot happen without China knowing about it. According to Alexander Korolev, an expert on the relationship between China and Russia, I don’t believe they would work together in military matters without Beijing’s permission.
China might consider North Korea as a helpful ally for Russia in the Ukraine conflict.
Allowing North Korea and Russia to work together in the military is a way for Russia to benefit without damaging its reputation much. It might say that North Korea’s bad government is to blame, even though other people aren’t involved. “He said it would be a good idea if this happens. ”
Mr Wang is visiting Russia after meeting with Jake Sullivan in Malta. In addition to the relationship between the US and China, the two men also talked about security in the region and the war in Ukraine, as stated by the US and China.
Mr Korolev said it is uncertain if China would put pressure on North Korea to stop cooperating, even though the US is discussing this with China. “If China wanted to follow America’s approach, they had more than a year to end the war but they chose not to,” he said.
The US has accused China of helping Russia with money and important technology since the war started.
A report from US intelligence, published in July, stated that Beijing is using different ways to help Russia’s economy, in order to reduce the impact of sanctions from Western countries and restrictions on exports.
This text mentions that China is buying more energy from Russia, using its currency more for transactions with Russia, and likely providing technology that can be used for both civilian and military purposes, like drones, to Ukraine.
China has always denied these claims and says it stays neutral in the war.
The country has made its own plan to bring peace to Ukraine. They shared the plan when their leader visited Moscow and met with the President earlier this year. -

GP terminated after modifying records to conceal an error in Speke
In an attempt to conceal their error, the physician attempted to cover up their mistake by deleting medical records. Consequently, the doctor is prohibited from working for a duration of three months.
Dr Victor Ebenuwa, who works at the Margaret Thompson Medical Centre in Speke, made a mistake when diagnosing a patient’s condition and giving them medication, as stated in a hearing held by a medical practitioners tribunal.
He made a mistake by reading the blood test results wrongly and gave the wrong treatment for a thyroid problem.
He said he was sorry when his mistakes were discovered.
The hearing learned that when Dr. Ebenuwa discovered his error, he deleted records and altered data to make it look like the medication he had prescribed was already a part of the man’s medical history.
The court was informed that in March 2021, a man called Patient A had a meeting with Dr. Ebenuwa and was told to get some tests done.
The doctor then prescribed medicine to Patient A to treat their thyroid problem.
He understood he was wrong one month later, when the man went to Whiston Hospital because he had a heart attack.
Dr Ebenuwa changed the information about Patient A and erased the records of their phone conversation.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, he never told Patient A to stop taking the medication or told them about the mistakes he had made.
The person had another heart attack and passed away in July 2021. It was not believed that Dr. Ebenuwa directly caused the person’s death.
Dr Ebenuwa graduated from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 1989.
He became a Family Physician in 2000 and worked as a GP and trainer in Nigeria. In 2003, he moved to the UK.
‘Feeling embarrassed and self-conscious; influenced by a sense of shame. ‘
Dr Ebenuwa started working at the Margaret Thompson Medical Centre in 2006, and after four years, he became a partner.
During the hearing, it was mentioned that Patient A’s daughter asked for her father’s medical records from the clinic after he passed away.
In February 2022, she, practice officials, and Dr. Ebenuwa had a meeting. During the meeting, Dr. Ebenuwa admitted that he had misunderstood the first test results.
The lawyer for the General Medical Council said that if Patient A’s daughter hadn’t asked for the records, nobody would have found out about Dr Ebenuwa’s actions.
People said that Dr. Ebenuwa made choices to hide his mistake and he admitted to being dishonest.
During the hearing, it was explained that the doctor’s actions were not typical of his usual behavior. The doctor’s decision to delete records was a result of feeling scared and embarrassed.
They said the doctor ignored problems and pretended everything was fine.
He said sorry and felt bad when his mistakes were discovered.
The group of people agreed that Dr. Ebenuwa was not a danger to the public. -

Mayor of South Sudan dismissed for ‘slapping woman’
The temporary mayor of Juba, the capital city of South Sudan, has been fired after a video showed him slapping someone from the public.
Emmanuel Khamis Richard has been under increasing pressure from other politicians to quit, but he has refused to do so. A video of him seemingly attacking a female street seller has been widely shared for the past week.
The governor of Central Equatoria state told everyone on Friday night that he was firing him, and then more people heard about it over the weekend.
The governor took action after all the MPs sent him a letter asking for the mayor to be removed.
MrKhamis Richard did not say if he slapped the woman or not. Before he was fired from his job, he was asked to go and see some important people in Juba to explain what he did wrong. But he didn’t go, and instead asked for two more weeks before he had to go.
No one has been chosen yet to take over. But for now, the leader of Juba city council, Martin Simon Wani, has been told to oversee the overall tasks of the municipality. -

Ex-leader of Zambia appears in court over purported travel ban
Former President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu, has taken the government to court after claiming they stopped him from going to a conference in South Korea.
Mr Lungu is asking the Lusaka High Court to review a decision made by the government that stopped him from going to South Korea.
He has submitted court documents to support his request.
His political group, the Patriotic Front (PF), has criticized the government’s reported action, describing it as against the law.
Emmanuel Mwamba, the PF’s spokesperson, said that if someone is invited and their trip expenses are covered or if they can pay for their own trip and for their entourage, they don’t have to tell the governments about it.
Mr Mwamba said the ex-president wanted to go on a medical trip, but he wasn’t allowed to go even though he asked for permission from the cabinet office.
“He said that these harsh and oppressive actions go against the basic rights of the former president and should not be a part of a real democracy. ”
Mr Lungu no longer has power, and it is now held by the current President, Hakainde Hichilema, since 2021.
He said he would stop being involved in politics, but many people think he wants to come back and might try to be elected again in 2026. -

Blame bloggers if anything happens to Naira Marley – Mc Baffy
Atanda Ayodeji, a rising comedian and event host better known by his stage name Mc Baffy, believes that Nigerian bloggers should be held responsible if anything bad happens to Naira Marley.
Naira Marley was the target of numerous calls for his arrest following allegations that he and his best friend Sam Larry were responsible for Mohbad’s demise.
On his Instagram story, Baffy has addressed this development, though.
He concurs that Mohbad’s murder requires justice, but he insists that there are additional considerations that must be made.
Instead, he asked about Sam Larry and Naira Marley’s whereabouts at the time the incident happened.
He also questioned why there was no autopsy performed on the musician before his hasty burial.
The comedian questioned whether the “justice” being sought is for the circumstances leading up to his passing or for the years he was alive in the past.
However, Baffy urged Nigerians to exercise caution in light of the current circumstances, adding that bloggers should be held accountable in the event that Naira Marley suffers any harm.
Nigerian rapper and singer, Mohbad, was confirmed dead on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
He died at the age of 27. His death was allegedly caused by an injection he received after visiting the hospital on Tuesday.

‘The nightmare is over’: Iran releases Americans in exchange for prisoners
Five Americans who were held in prison in Iran for a long time, seen as hostages by many, are now returning to the United States.
The final part of a contentious exchange brokered by Qatar was completed when $6bn (£4. 8bn) of money from Iran that was being held in South Korea arrived at banks in Doha.
This made it possible for the four American men and one woman in Tehran, who are also Iranian citizens, to get on a flight to Qatar’s capital city.
Senior officials of the United States will meet with them and then they will be taken to Washington by plane.
It is said that three people from America are involved in this. One of them is Siamak Namazi, a 51-year-old businessman who has been in prison called Evin in Tehran for almost eight years. Another person is Emad Shargi, a 59-year-old businessman. There is also Morad Tahbaz, a 67-year-old environmentalist who has British citizenship too.
The US government has stated that its citizens were unjustly imprisoned on false accusations in order to gain political advantages.
In August, they were moved to a safe place in Tehran after they made an agreement.
Five Iranians who are currently in American prisons, mostly because they have broken US sanctions, will also be pardoned as part of this deal. Some of them may not go back to Iran.
Iran has given the names Reza Sarhangpour, Kambiz Attar Kashani, Kaveh Lotfolah Afrasiabi, Mehrdad Moein Ansari, and Amin Hasanzadeh.
Who are the people with citizenship in two countries who are currently in prison in Iran.
The thing that Americans have been very afraid of is finally finished. Professor Mehran Kamrava, who is originally from Iran but now teaches at Georgetown University in Qatar, described how difficult and disruptive solitary confinement can be. It involves not knowing what is happening and losing track of time. It greatly disrupts the normal flow of life.
The agreement happened after many months of discussions led by Qatar, which started in February of last year.
Someone who knows about the negotiations says that there were at least nine difficult discussions in Doha. The American and Iranian delegations stayed in different hotels. Senior officials from Qatar traveled back and forth between Tehran and Washington.
“I believe both sides benefit a little,” said Prof Kamrava to the BBC in Doha. Joe Biden is getting Americans back to their own country, and Iran is letting Iranians out of prison in the United States. But the most important thing is the six billion dollars that they are receiving.Who are the people from America that were held in jail?
Morad Tahbaz was taken into custody in 2018 with eight other Iranian environmentalists. They were using cameras to follow very rare wild Asiatic cheetahs, but they were accused of using their environmental work as an excuse to gather secret information. The person said they didn’t do it, but they got put in jail for 10 years.Siamak Namazi, who works in the oil industry and lives in Dubai, was taken into custody by the authorities in 2015. His old father, Baquer, was taken into custody the next year, after Iranian officials gave him permission to see his son. Both of them were sentenced to 10 years in jail because they were accused of working with a foreign enemy country, but they said they didn’t do it. Iran allowed Baquer to leave the country in 2022 to get medical help.
Emad Shargi was arrested in 2018 when he was working for an investment company in Iran. After being let out of jail temporarily, he was later informed that he was no longer accused of spying. In 2020, a court told him that he was found guilty of a crime even though he was not there and given a 10-year prison sentence. In 2021, a person was set free before their appeal and allegedly taken into custody when attempting to cross Iran’s western border without permission.
The two additional Americans who were freed have not been identified. It is a great relief for some prisoners to be released and come home, but there is also worry that more prisoners could be taken in the future. There are more people with citizenship from two countries who are still in prison in Tehran.
Sanam Vakil, who works at a think tank in London called Chatham House, says that the Iranian government has started to become a government that takes people hostage. “They have been manipulating people and using them as tools, which gives them an advantage over the West. ”
Qatar wants this rare moment of cooperation to help make progress on other longstanding disagreements and disputes. One of these is the 2015 nuclear deal, which was almost completely abandoned by former US President Donald Trump five years ago. Some people are doubtful about it.
A Western official, who knows about the situation, is frustrated because the Iranians say they want to start serious diplomatic discussions, but there is no agreement or proper negotiations happening. “They have made progress, but we have informed them, with the help of the Omanis, about the necessary actions to create favorable conditions for diplomacy. ”
According to sources, Iran is producing less 60%-enriched uranium for nuclear purposes. This is not as high as the 90% needed to make weapons, but it still exceeds the limits set in the 2015 agreement.
However, there is growing worry about Iran not being open about its nuclear goals. On Sunday, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said he strongly disagrees with Iran’s decision to remove a large number of IAEA inspectors. The decision to move nuclear weapons, although it is allowed by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, is being criticized as a move in the wrong direction.
Last week in Vienna, 63 countries together signed a statement criticizing Iran for not cooperating with the NPT Safeguards Agreement.
Karim Sadjadpour, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, says that we should not think this deal will make the relationship between the US and Iran better.
“He means that as long as Khamenei is in charge of Iran, they will keep being enemies with the United States. ” “It benefits him to have an enemy from outside, and it’s a defining part of the government’s identity. ”
People have been asking President Biden for a while to bring back the Americans who are abroad.
Earlier this year, Siamak Namazi, who was in prison, sent a letter asking for help to fulfill the promise made by the previous Obama government to bring him home safely within a few weeks. He said he was the person who was held captive the longest as an Iranian-American.
He got arrested while on a business trip to Tehran in 2015 and was found guilty of working with an enemy government, which is the United States. His father Baquer was also arrested and found guilty of the same crime when he went to Tehran to try to free him. But he was released last October, supposedly because of his medical condition. The United States said that they both were held in custody unfairly.
Morad Tahbaz and his family felt angry and abandoned after the British government promised that he and two other British-Iranians, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori, would come back to Britain last year. However, this did not happen and they were left feeling upset.
This exchange happens when Iran is facing more and more challenges because of harmful international restrictions. It also follows a year with protests that were caused by the death of Mahsa Amini while she was held by Iran’s morality police. -

Gospel artist Kirk Franklin reunites with biological father after 53 years of separation
Grammy-winning gospel singer Kirk Franklin has joyfully reunited with his biological father, Richard Hubbard, after a remarkable 53-year separation, putting an end to years of unanswered questions about his parentage.
Franklin was adopted at the age of four by a woman from his church. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He thinks that because his birth mother was a young woman with no support system, she chose to abandon him. Franklin says that this poignant reunion opens a new chapter in his life.
Although he was grateful for the things his adoptive mother did for him as a child, he felt there was a gap in his upbringing at some point. Franklin reportedly recalled how, despite her best efforts, she struggled to care for him as a widow and even made sacrifices for his piano lessons while depending on government assistance, per People.
He continued, feeling that he had grown more of a burden to her as he approached the ages of 12 to 13, he started to feel abandoned. Like many other teenagers who went on dates, his desire for independence played on him at the time, intensifying his feeling of displacement.
When Franklin was six years old, he discovered a man whom he believed to be his real father. His biological mother made the introduction. He claimed that because he had grown up without a father, the encounter had made him feel angry and conflicted. “I didn’t see him again until I was 13 and then he started showing up at concerts after my first album came out,” he said to People. “I was angry at the fact that I did not have a father and he would dare show up once my life seemed to have some sense of order. Same for my biological mother.”
The man he thought was his biological father passed away some years ago. It was while working on his new album that he found his actual biological dad. Franklin said one of his singers said she had a conversation at a funeral with a man who claimed to have dated Franklin’s mother in the past. Subsequently, Franklin reached out to this man and a paternity test confirmed a 99% chance that Hubbard was indeed his biological father, who also resided in Fort Worth.
He said he still gets mixed feelings knowing that all these years he craved parental guidance, his father lived in the same city as him. He explained that he struggled with parental love, intimacy, faith, and identity, all of which were significantly impacted by his search for his biological father, Hubbard. He expressed relief that the answer to his identity was found so close to him.
His adoptive mother, however, has not shown the same expression of relief. Franklin has not spoken to her since the second paternity test confirmed Hubbard’s relationship with him because she is adamant that he is not Franklin’s real father.

Ukraine war: Russia requests UN court to dismiss lawsuit against it
Russia has asked the International Court of Justice to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Ukraine.
Kyiv is saying that Moscow is wrongly using a law about genocide as an excuse for their invasion.
Russia says it got involved in Ukraine to stop a mass killing of Russians in the eastern part of the country.
The court hearing in The Hague won’t decide if Russia’s invasion was legal. Instead, it will decide if the International Court can look into Ukraine’s complaints.
Ukraine claims that there was no chance of mass murder happening in the eastern part of the country, where they have been battling against Russian-supported groups since 2014.
This means that the treaty against genocide does not allow for any kind of invasion to stop a claimed genocide, no matter what.
Russia believes that Ukraine’s case is very flawed and claims that Ukraine actually wants a decision on whether Russia’s military actions were right or wrong.
Ukraine filed the case a few days after Russia invaded on February 24th last year.
In the middle of March, the highest court of the United Nations called on Russia to stop their military actions in Ukraine. However, Russia refused to follow this request, saying that the court did not have the power to make that decision and that Ukraine’s request was not valid.
In court on Monday, Russia’s lawyer, Gennady Kuzmin, said that because Ukraine claimed there was no genocide, there could not have been a violation of the United Nations Genocide Convention.
“He said that just that fact should be sufficient to dismiss the case. ”
In the next few days, the court will listen to the opinions of 32 other countries. They all agree with Ukraine that the court has the authority to deal with the case.
The meetings will probably continue until September 27th.
The 1948 UN Genocide Convention said that genocide is when someone intentionally tries to destroy a whole or part of a group of people because they are from a certain country, ethnicity, race, or religion.
Russian officials keep blaming Ukraine for committing genocide.
In 2017, Ukraine accused Russia of taking Crimea without permission and secretly supporting rebels who want to separate from Ukraine.
That action is still happening. It is based on United Nations conventions against terrorism and discrimination. -

Shatta Wale proposes an African tribute song for MohBad
Ghanaian Dancehall star, Shatta Wale has requested an African tribute song to the late Nigerian Afrobeat singer MohBad.
Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as MohBad, was a famous Nigerian musician who passed away on September 12, 2023, in an undetermined accident and was buried the following day.

US military appeals to public for assistance in locating F-35 fighter jet
The US military is looking for help from the public to find one of its F-35 fighter jets. The pilot got out of the plane.
It got lost on Sunday afternoon when the pilot was flying over the southern state of South Carolina.
The pilot, whose name is not known, jumped out of the plane and landed safely using a parachute. He is doing well in the hospital.
We don’t know exactly what happened yet, but officials said there was an accident involving the aircraft.
They said they were looking for the F-35B Lightning II jet near two lakes north of Charleston.
With the help of federal aviation regulators, the search for the jet is taking place in Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion, where it was last seen.
Joint Base Charleston asked for assistance on X, previously referred to as Twitter. The people in charge of responding to emergencies are still looking for the F-35.
“Please work together with the military and civilian authorities as they continue their efforts. ”
It asked anyone who knows anything that could help its recovery teams to get in touch with its operations center.

The Marine Corps told the BBC that it didn’t know much about the incident yet and was still trying to find out more.
Another F-35 plane that was believed to be flying at the same time safely came back to the base in Charleston, according to Maj Melanie Salinas, a military spokeswoman.
The jet is built by a company called Lockheed Martin and is estimated to cost about $80 million. It is considered one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world.
The F-35 is the biggest and most expensive weapons program in the world.
In 2018, all of the F-35 fighter jets in the US military were stopped from flying for a while because one of them crashed in South Carolina.
