Read portions of Alan’s resignation letter from the NPP in 2007

A letter written and signed in 2007 by then failed presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to resign from the party has popped up once again on social media.

At the time, Alan Kyerematen was responsible for Identifiable Groups in the 2007 campaign team of the then flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo who went ahead to lose the 2008 election to NDC’s Atta Mills.

    Read the letter below

“I have monitored extensively media reportage and discussions within the past week, following my decision to resign from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). “It is clear that there is a calculated attempt emanating from certain quarters, to create public disaffection against me for taking a decision on principles and to create the impression that I am vacillating on my decision to resign, thereby displaying inconsistency in thought and judgment.

“I wish to state categorically that I have not rescinded my decision to resign from the party.
The statement further read, “We must also not lose sight of the fact that national interest is superior to the interest of any single party. In this regard, I will soon give a firm indication of the role that I expect to play in the political landscape of the country. This, I believe, will bring hope and confidence to all Chanaians irrespective of the political or religious affiliation or ethnic background.”

Winsford’s paedophile pretends to be model scout online

A paedophile who tricked children by pretending to be a model scout on the internet in order to sexually abuse them has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

David Harmes, a 27-year-old man from Winsford, Cheshire, has confessed to committing 88 sexual offenses against 45 children, who were between the ages of six and 15, from July 2019 to February 2020.

The CPS said that the children were told to do sexual things on camera, which he filmed.

Harmes found his victims on social media and tricked them into coming to him.

In Chester Crown Court, it was said that lots of inappropriate pictures and videos were discovered on his computer. Additionally, there was a written plan he used when first talking to people on Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat. He would pretend to work for popular clothing companies.

The writing stated: “My name is Jess and my job is to find people who could be models. ” We are searching for girls who are between the ages of 10 and 14 to assist us in introducing our new spring collection. I believe you would be just right for this opportunity.

“The online test lasts for 10 minutes and if you succeed, you will receive £1,200 as a reward. ”
    ‘Twisted desires’

Over a period of six months, Harmes pretended to be different people like Jess, Jaden, Alex, or Jadenthelad to trick his victims. This information was given by Cheshire Police.

The recent crimes happened shortly after he was let out of prison in 2019. He had been previously convicted for similar sexual crimes where he pretended to be a famous singer in order to trick children on the internet.

The CPS explained that he would convince his victims, who were mostly girls except for one boy, to install an app that allowed them to have video calls with each other.

He always kept his camera off and used software to capture and save everything that appeared on his screen.

The detectives recognized him from the pictures because of his unique sheets and also from a video where he accidentally showed his face while opening his laptop briefly.

After the punishment was decided, Jiro Asafa, from the CPS, stated that Harmes was a person who committed many sexual offenses and posed a great danger. Harmes manipulated children’s dreams and goals in order to satisfy his abnormal sexual urges.

He didn’t care about how the children felt. If anyone spoke out against him, he would threaten to expose videos he had taken of them to people they know.

He said that the victims were forced into a world for grown-ups that they didn’t understand and didn’t know what they were being told to do.
The picture shows a hand using a laptop keyboard.

Det Supt Simon Draco of Cheshire Police said the police really want to make sure parents and carers understand that they must know what their children are doing on the internet to keep them safe from dangerous people like Harmes.

Harmes went back to prison because he broke the rules of his order for people who have committed sexual offenses on 8 February 2020.

He admitted that he did bad things like having, creating, and taking inappropriate pictures of children. He also convinced a child to do sexual things and did sexual things around a child. He shared private sexual pictures to purposely upset others.

In addition to being sentenced to 30 years in prison, he also received a special order to prevent him from causing sexual harm and will be required to sign the sex offenders’ registry for an indefinite period of time.

  • Airlines asked to resume Sudan flights

Airlines asked to resume Sudan flights

The government of Sudan wants airlines to start flying to Sudan again. EgyptAir was the first commercial flight to go to or leave Sudan since the conflict started in April.

The EgyptAir plane had over 100 people on board. It flew from Cairo, Egypt to Port Sudan in Sudan in the morning and then came back to Egypt in the afternoon.

The Governor of Red Sea State, Fathallah Haj Ahmed, said to the media that the EgyptAir flight showed that Sudan is secure and calm for flights from other countries.

This message is for everyone in the world to know that Sudan is safe and steady. Mr Ahmed said that the message being sent is for international airlines to start flying to Sudan again because it is completely safe.

Sudan stopped allowing planes to fly in its airspace in April of this year. This happened because the Sudanese military and a paramilitary group called the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were fighting each other.

On 15 August, the government of Sudan said that they have allowed planes to fly again in the eastern part of the country.

Egypt’s consul general in Sudan, Sameh Farouq, mentioned that Egypt Air will have a flight going from Egypt to Sudan and back every week.

In Zambia, the police have taken the wife of former president Edgar Lungu into custody for three crimes. One of the charges is stealing a car, but she claims she didn’t do it.

Esther Lungu, who is currently being held in the capital city of Lusaka, has been arrested along with three other people.

Police spokesperson Danny Mwale said that the four people were also charged with stealing a certificate for a property in Lusaka.

They are also accused of having things that are believed to be money from illegal activities.

Some people who used to work for the government and some family members of Mr Lungu are being investigated for possibly doing illegal things.

They all say they didn’t do anything wrong.

UK anticipates to rejoin Horizon science programme

A statement about the UK’s re-admission to the EU’s flagship research programme, Horizon, is anticipated shortly.

After an agreement was reached on post-Brexit arrangements for Northern Ireland earlier this year, discussions on the UK becoming a full member of the EU’s €100 billion (£85 billion) programme reopened.

There has been progress in the EU-UK negotiations, according to sources in Brussels.

However, neither party has made any official announcement of a signed agreement.

The Brexit Trade and Cooperation Agreement included an agreement in principle for the UK to be an associate member of Horizon, but the matter was stymied by the conflict over the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Ethiopian government soldiers said to have being killing civilians

A group in Ethiopia that is against the government says that government forces have killed many innocent people in a troubled region called Amhara. The region has been seeing ongoing fighting between local militias and the army.

The Enat party said that government troops killed 29 regular people, like kids and old people, near their houses in a little town called Majete.

The party said that drone attacks in two different places in the region caused the deaths of at least 20 innocent people.

The BBC cannot verify the claims on its own, and the government has not replied to the accusations.

There was a lot of fighting in Amhara after many people got angry over a decision to get rid of a regional military group. Some people thought this would make the region easier to attack.

In the beginning of August, groups of local fighters went into many big cities in the area and took over an airport for a short time.

Fighting in the city caused many people to die, and a lot of prisoners were able to escape.

Cities seem to have returned to a somewhat normal state after the government troops forced the militias to leave.

Last week, the leader of the army, Field Martial Berhanu Jula, said that the armed groups in the area were not dangerous anymore. However, there are still ongoing fights happening this week in a few small towns and villages.

The ongoing internet shutdown has made it hard to find out how severe the fighting is.

The Freedom of the City of London award, historically a prerequisite for those engaged in trade within the Square Mile, bestowed certain privileges upon recipients. Those who held this honor upheld their responsibilities and obligations as freemen with utmost dedication.

Before 1996, eligibility for the Freedom of the City was limited to British or Commonwealth citizens exclusively.

However, in a significant shift, this honor has now been extended worldwide and is open to international collaboration. Mr. Lamptey, a financial consultant based in London, expressed his eagerness to forge robust collaborations and partnerships that can contribute to the advancement of youth development in Ghana.

“I am a Ghanaian and keen to make a positive impact in Ghana.

I have only been in the UK for about nine years but whatever I have done here, I would like to replicate in Ghana to support my local community.

“I am looking for opportunities to make a difference in Ghana,” he added.

A special citation presented to him included the following excerpt: “Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey was granted the Freedom of the City of London and made the legally mandated declaration.”

Lamptey’s nomination for this esteemed city award was initiated by two previous recipients of the title and esteemed members of the JCI in London, Chris Edge and Corinna Edge.

The admission of Mr Lamptey brings to 12, the number of Ghanaians who have attained “freedom” from the City of London Corporation.

Receiving the award at a special ceremony in London, Mr Lamptey, expressed delight in the feat.

Mr Lamptey, who is a financial consultant in London, said he was ready to build strong collaborations and partnerships that could support the development of the youth in Ghana.

Soldiers undergo trial a for fatal anti-UN rally in Congo

Six soldiers are currently facing trial in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the murder of over 40 people who were protesting against the United Nations last week.

Two high-ranking officers are accused of telling soldiers to shoot at the protest, which was not allowed.

The people in the eastern city of Goma held a protest to ask the UN and regional peacekeepers to leave.

Protesters say they didn’t do a good job keeping people safe from rebel attacks in the east for many years.

The case is taking place at a military court in Goma, the main city in a region called North Kivu, which has lots of valuable minerals and many rebel groups. Last year, the M23 fighters took control of big parts of this area.

The soldiers were accused of doing very bad things to innocent people and not doing what their leaders told them to do.

One of the six people on trial, Col Mike Mikombe, leads the special forces called the Republican Guard in Goma. He was the only person who said he didn’t do what he was accused of when the meeting started on Tuesday.

It is not clear if the defendants actually shot any guns during the protest last Wednesday.

A religious group planned a protest, but the government said they couldn’t do it. The UN peacekeeping mission in eastern DR Congo (Monusco) has experienced many demonstrations since last year.

Monusco currently has about 18,000 people in the country, and over 12,000 of them are soldiers. It has been decided that the force will leave after the elections in December.

The government gave an update on the recent anti-UN protest in Goma. According to them, 43 people have died, including a police officer who was allegedly killed by the protesters. Fifty-three people got hurt.

However, the United Nations Human Rights Office mentioned that more people could have died, and a military prosecutor named Colonel Michel Kachil informed the court that 56 individuals were killed.

More than 150 people were taken into custody by the security forces during the crackdown.

People are very angry in DR Congo because of what happened, and Human Rights Watch says the way the soldiers reacted was very cruel and against the law.

The military tribunal happens after the country’s ministers in charge of internal affairs and defense went to Goma to examine the incident.

The government said they are bringing the military leader of North Kivu, General Constant Ndima, back to the capital city, Kinshasa, to talk about things. This information was reported by the AFP news agency.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Jacques Ndulu Ichaligonza had taken over from Gen Ndima as the temporary military governor.

In May 2021, the regions of North Kivu and Ituri in the east were placed under martial law to try to stop the rebel groups and armed militias.

A year and a half later, a group of soldiers was sent to eastern DR Congo to help the military’s efforts.

Even though there were protests against peacekeeping, the leaders of East African countries agreed to continue sending their troops on Tuesday.

  • Find out what keeps married men from leaving their wives for sidechicks

Find out what keeps married men from leaving their wives for sidechicks

Married men may choose not to leave their wives for sidechicks (mistresses or extramarital partners) for various reasons, including:

    1. Commitment and Responsibility: Married men often have a strong sense of commitment and responsibility toward their spouses, especially if they have built a life together, including children, shared assets, and history. Leaving their wives can feel like abandoning their commitments and duties.
    2. Fear of Consequences: Divorce can have significant legal, financial, and social consequences. Married men may fear losing custody of their children, paying hefty alimony or child support, or facing judgment from friends and family if they were to leave their wives.
    3. Emotional Attachment: Even if they are involved in extramarital affairs, married men may still have emotional attachments to their wives. Leaving their spouses would mean severing emotional bonds that have been cultivated over time.
    4. Social and Cultural Norms: Societal and cultural norms often emphasize the sanctity of marriage and discourage divorce. Married men may feel pressured to maintain the appearance of a stable family unit for the sake of social acceptance and to avoid stigma.
    5. Uncertainty of the New Relationship: While side-chicks may offer excitement and novelty, married men may be hesitant to leave their wives for an uncertain future. They may question whether the new relationship will be as fulfilling or stable as their existing marriage.

It’s important to note that individual circumstances and motivations vary, and not all married men will have the same reasons for staying with their wives despite having extramarital relationships. Ultimately, the decision to stay in a marriage or pursue a different path is a highly personal one influenced by a range of factors.

  • Romania claims Russian drone parts landed on its territory

Romania claims Russian drone parts landed on its territory

The defense minister of Romania said that they found parts of a drone used in a Russian attack on a Ukrainian port on Romanian land.

His comments come after two days of him and other important people saying without any doubts that there was no incident that happened between countries.

Ukraine was adamant that it had proof of the explosion.

The president of Romania is saying that if the attack is proven to be true, it would be a very serious breach of Romania’s control over its own territory.

Klaus Iohannis said that it would be absolutely unacceptable for Romania, as a member of NATO, to be attacked.

On Sunday night, after Russia attacked the Ukrainian port of Izmail, the Shahed drones fell and exploded in Romania. Ukraine’s foreign ministry reported this on Monday.

This incident is more evidence that Moscow poses a big danger to Ukraine’s neighboring countries.

Romania’s Defense Minister, Angel Tilvar, recently visited the Danube Delta area near the Ukraine border. During the visit, it was revealed that several parts of a drone had been discovered.

Currently, there is an investigation happening to find out if the fragments are from a weapon made in Russia. The authorities are studying the fragments to gather information.

It became hard to argue against what Kyiv said after Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba publicly announced that he had pictures proving the incident.

He said it was very clear what had happened and that there was no reason to deny it.

Russia has been attacking Ukraine’s port areas on the River Danube for a few weeks. This happened after they backed out of an agreement which would have let Ukraine transport its grain through the Black Sea.

Oleh Kiper, who is in charge of the military administration in the Odesa region, stated that the person who died was a farmer and that there was damage to the port and grain facilities.

Romanian officials are not saying why they previously strongly denied the drone incident. However, the defense minister is admitting that he gave incorrect information to the president.

The minister said in a TV interview that the discovered remains were not dangerous.

He said that the people in charge are being very careful and will do more things to make sure the sky is safe. “We will have more places to watch, more people walking around. ”

We are not sure if the drone was shot down and pieces fell in Romania, or if it just crashed on the border of Romania.

The Romanian defense ministry previously said they were keeping a close eye on what was happening in Ukraine and on the border.

The ministry said in a statement that the Russian Federation did not directly threaten Romania’s land or water with their attack methods.

Epixode donates learning materials to school children in Aboetia in the Volta region

Ghanaian musician, Epixode has generously donated educational materials to the town of Aboetia in the Volta Region. This charitable initiative occurred on the 5th of September 2023.

Additionally, Epixode extended his support by presenting essential items such as toiletries and a variety of beverages to the nearby community near Juapong.

Epixode’s donation exemplifies his dedicated efforts to enhance education in rural areas, with a specific focus on Aboetia. This community grapples with numerous challenges, including inadequate classroom infrastructure for the Junior High School stream and a shortage of qualified teachers. These difficulties are further compounded by the harsh living conditions in the region.

At the donation event, Epixode personally handed over an array of educational supplies, which included exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, in addition to clothing and personal hygiene items.

The items were handed over to the community through the esteemed His Royal Highness, Togbe Korku Mensah, the Chief of Aboetia. In addition to the material contributions, Epixode took the opportunity to inspire and motivate the pupils, emphasising the importance of embracing classroom education and steering clear of activities that may hinder their long-term success.

Their joint efforts are geared towards not only bringing smiles and hope to the children of Aboetia but also working diligently to enhance the educational landscape in the region.

  • Kenyan man found guilty of baby theft following BBC exposé

Kenyan man found guilty of baby theft following BBC exposé

A person who works in a hospital in Kenya was caught by the BBC trying to sell a baby illegally. This person has now been found guilty of child trafficking.

Fred Leparan, who worked at Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital in Nairobi, was caught on video accepting $2,050 (£1,600) in exchange for selling a baby boy who was being cared for at the hospital.

He got taken by the police in 2020 after an investigation by BBC Africa Eye.

Leparan and another hospital worker named Selina Awour were accused of stealing a child.

Awuor was found guilty of not taking care of children, but she was cleared of the charge of illegally moving children around.

The couple will receive their punishment on 26 September.

An Africa Eye reporter pretended to be interested in buying something from Leparan. They did this because they had heard from someone that Leparan, who works as a senior social worker in a hospital, was involved in illegally selling children.

A meeting was set up at the hospital. Leparan asked the secret reporter some quick questions about her situation. She mentioned that she and her husband had trouble having a baby. Without much thought, Leparan agreed to sell the baby boy.

On the day when the baby boy was supposed to go from the hospital to a special home for children run by the government, someone named Leparan was caught on camera changing the important documents for the transfer. Leparan made it look like only two children were coming to the home instead of three.

The BBC team made sure that all three children were taken to their new home. They filmed Leparan fixing some paperwork and telling the family that they could now officially adopt the child.

Even though there was proof that said he was guilty, the court case continued for over two years. Leparan had a very good lawyer in Kenya, but when he was questioned in court, what he said didn’t match up and he avoided giving direct answers.

He had to admit that it was him in the secret video, but he tried to say that someone else’s voice was speaking, even though his mouth was moving along with the words. Afterwards, he confessed that some of the words were his.

Leparan said he couldn’t remember parts of the hospital where he had worked for three years. In court, they showed a video of Leparan planning to steal and move the baby boy without anyone knowing.

The BBC found out that Mama Lucy sold a child illegally. However, a former worker, who asked not to be identified, told Africa Eye that they knew of 12 children from the hospital who disappeared in only two months.

A lot of people are dishonest. “He said that when they receive something small, they stay silent and never speak,” he mentioned, talking about the bribes provided to the employees.

Many people in Kenya still want to buy stolen children because they believe in false stereotypes about being infertile or adopting legally being difficult.

The hospital scam run by Leparan is just one part of this complicated issue. Africa Eye also recorded people who buy and sell babies in illegal clinics on the streets, and the open stealing and selling of babies from homeless mothers in the city.

Mary Auma, who operated a clinic for struggling mothers to give birth and sell their babies to her, so that she could then sell them for money, went missing after our undercover team captured her on camera. When we returned to Nairobi, we couldn’t find Auma and her clinic was closed.

However, newborns are still being taken away from their parents without permission in Nairobi. Near the entrance of the closed clinic, a lady came up to us and showed us a paper with a picture of her five-year-old granddaughter, Chelsea Akinye.

Chelsea’s grandmother, Rosemary, told us that Chelsea had been taken from the street one year and six days ago. She said she had been looking for Chelsea every day, putting up flyers in the neighborhood and other areas.

She said that the little girl was happy and doing well in school.

Rosemary said that when she returned from school, she would ask someone nearby for help with her homework before going out to play.

“I have looked for Chelsea all the way to Busia. ” Since that day, I start my search for her very early in the morning, sometimes as early as 4am.

Like other parents or grandparents who have had the horrible experience of having a child taken away, Rosemary sometimes wishes for some kind of resolution or conclusion.

I think someone might have left her somewhere, or she could have been killed and left somewhere. “And then I go and bury her, and it makes me sad,” she explained.

There is not much information available on the exact number of children who are being trafficked in Kenya. According to Florence Bore, who is in charge of labor and social protection in the country, a total of 6,841 children went missing from July 2022 to May 2023. Only 1,296 people have been able to be reunited with their families.

Mueni Mutisya, who works for the Child Trafficking Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, said to the BBC that their unit usually receives about five new cases of child abduction every week. Mostly, the lowest income families are impacted, according to Ms.

The day after we first shared our findings in 2020, Kenya’s former minister in charge of labor and social protection, Simon Chelugui, promised that the government would take strong measures to stop the illegal trafficking of children. He assured that those responsible would be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Last year, Kenya implemented new laws to make sure children are better protected. However, according to Ms. Mueni, there is still more work to be done. She asked for new rules that would make it necessary for people to tell authorities if they think a child has been hurt or taken away without permission.

“She said we should all work together to keep children safe. ”

The children who are most at risk are still those who come from the poorest families. Maryana Munyendo, who leads the charity Missing Child Kenya, says this. The charity provides a free phone line for people to report cases of child abductions.

“Ms Munyendo said that in Nairobi, we continue to have many cases coming from the poor neighborhoods. ” She mentioned that her phone still gets three missing child reports every day on average.

  • Rishi asked to bring up British man’s arrest in India

Rishi asked to bring up British man’s arrest in India

A group of MPs from different political parties are asking Rishi Sunak to help a British man who may be sentenced to death in India.

Over 70 members of Parliament signed a letter asking the Prime Minister to urge Narendra Modi to release activist Jagtar Singh Johal right away, when he goes to Delhi for the G20 leaders’ meeting.

They claim that Mr Johal has been held against his will for more than five years without a fair reason.

The person speaking for the Prime Minister did not say if they would bring up the situation or not.

Mr Johal, who is currently 36 years old, is originally from Dumbarton, which is in Scotland. He was a person who wrote blogs and spoke up for the rights of Sikhs. The authorities in India noticed him because of this.

He went to India in October 2017 to get married. According to the campaign group Reprieve, when he was shopping with his wife, some men in regular clothes covered his head, forced him into a car, and hurt him very badly. They also made him sign empty sheets of paper.

Tory politician David Davis said on the BBC that the main responsibility of a government should be to keep its citizens safe. He also stated that if a citizen is harmed and treated unfairly, the government should strongly voice their concerns about it.

He said: “It seems like that is not happening right now, and the Foreign Office is failing to do its most important job. ”

The MPs wrote a letter saying that when Jagtar was arrested, the people questioning him shocked him with electricity and threatened to pour petrol on him and set him on fire. To stop the torture, Jagtar made videos where he said certain things and signed empty papers.

The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention explained that he had been singled out because of his involvement in writing public messages asking for punishment to be given to those responsible for mistreating Sikhs.

The letter from the MPs says that the UN Working Group determined that Jagtar’s ongoing imprisonment is not supported by any laws.

After almost six years, Mr. Johal is still in jail in India. He is accused of committing 10 murders and planning to commit murder along with others, all related to violent acts in India’s politics. His family say that court hearings have begun but have had to be postponed many times.

His brother Gurpreet Singh Johal, who is a lawyer and Labour councillor in Dumbarton, told the BBC: “The family is afraid that untrue accusations could turn into formal charges, leading to a wrongful conviction and possibly the death penalty. ”

He said that both former prime ministers Boris Johnson and Theresa May talked about the case with India’s prime minister. He also said that it would be really hard for Rishi Sunak to not bring up the case. If Rishi Sunak doesn’t do it, people will ask why he didn’t do it.

Since Rishi Sunak has a good connection with the Indian prime minister, it shouldn’t be difficult to request something from them. It has been almost six years, but no proof has been shown against Jagtar. These are just accusations made against him, and he should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

He said that it should be really simple to ask for Jagtar’s freedom. The UK took the right action for Nazanin and Anousheh in Iran before.

When asked if Mr. Sunak would bring up the matter, the prime minister’s spokesperson said they couldn’t predict what will be talked about.

In answer to more questions, the spokesman said the government has expressed worries about Jagtar to the Indian government “over 100 times”.

He said that they talked about getting help from their country’s representatives, following legal procedures, and finding out if there were any cases of abuse.

He said the family is getting help from the consulate and that Lord Ahmad, a government official, recently met with them.

But, in a letter sent to Gurpreet Singh Johal in July and seen by the BBC, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said he had decided it was better not to pressure India about the matter.

Mr Cleverly said that he doesn’t think asking for Jagtar to be freed would make the Indian authorities actually release him. I am afraid this could affect the teamwork that we rely on. To visit consulates, help with welfare issues, and go to court hearings.

Both Davis and Mr. Johal’s family are really mad about it. Gurpreet Singh Johal said: “Basically, it means ‘I refuse to do it and I would prefer to see him stay in jail. ‘ That’s what I understand from it. ”

Mr Davis said it sets a bad example and makes other governments more sensitive to complaints.

Gurpreet Singh Johal said that he thinks the UK is not talking about the case now because they want to sign a trade deal with India, which Rishi Sunak wants.

“They seem to be mainly focused on India, a country that is growing rapidly, and they want to finalize this trade agreement with them. It seems like they prioritize trade more than human rights,” he explained.

Mr Davis stated that he believes protecting the legal rights of British citizens should be the top priority, even if it means putting a trade deal in second place.

He said: “You don’t need to be a high-ranking official to understand that the most important thing for a British government is protecting the rights of its citizens. We will not agree to torture as a condition for making a trade deal. ” The period punctuation mark is called a full stop.

Climate activists oppose sale of carbon credits in Africa

Environmental advocates are opposing Africa‘s proposition to trade carbon credits with foreign nations.

Many companies and countries from abroad have agreed to spend a lot of money to buy carbon credits from the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative (ACMI). The United Arab Emirates, for example, promised to purchase $450m (£358m) worth of carbon credits.

But, organizations like Greenpeace Africa and Friends of the Earth Africa believe that purchasing carbon credits from Africa is not a real solution to climate change. They think it will actually make pollution worse because it allows polluters to balance out their emissions.

Putting money into carbon markets is not a good solution. GreenPeace Africa said that the true environmentally friendly investment can be found in renewable energy sources.

Can you make this text simpler.

Africa’s carbon markets were a big topic at the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya this week.

On Monday, Kenya’s President William Ruto mentioned that trading carbon credits is a beneficial solution. It can help reduce harmful emissions and also bring in money for Africa.

Restoring and growing Africa’s natural carbon storage areas is not only important for the environment, but it also has tremendous economic opportunities. Ruto said that if we lived in a fair world, they could absorb a lot of carbon dioxide, which should earn us a lot of money.

ACMI wants to help Africa’s carbon markets create 300 million carbon credits every year by 2030.

  • Irish government cautioned against overheated economy

Irish government cautioned against overheated economy

The Irish economy is at risk of overheating, a situation that has occurred in the past and can result in issues. This warning has been issued by the country’s budget watchdog.

The IFAC has published its analysis before next month’s budget.

The budget will have a total of €5. 2bn (£44bn) more money for important expenses, and there will also be additional money for things like helping with energy bills.

The IFAC said that there is very little or no reason to implement additional temporary non-core measures.

The text says that the prices of energy are going down, but if we use temporary solutions to fix this, it might make the general prices go up even more. Currently, the general prices are at 5. 8%

The watchdog has criticized the government for wanting to break its rule that says public spending should only increase by up to 5% every year.

The budget plan will increase the amount of money spent on important things by more than 6% in 2024.

The council said that the government is going to break the National Spending Rule every year until 2026. The council is worried and thinks this is a big problem.

The Irish economy has bounced back and improved a lot since the Covid outbreak.

The number of people with jobs is very high right now, and it is expected that the country’s economy will grow by more than 3% this year.

The country will make a lot of extra money in the upcoming years because multinational companies will pay a lot of taxes.
Pressure to obtain funding in a sustainable manner.

The governing coalition is having a hard time in the polls, even though the economy is doing well. This is because a lot of people feel like they are not benefitting from the country’s success, due to expensive housing and overburdened public services.

The IFAC understands that there is a need for more money to be spent, and it believes that it is a good idea to invest more in public projects.

However, it was suggested that the costs of these pressures should be paid for in a stable and continuous way, implying that new spending should be balanced by either increasing taxes or making adjustments in other areas of spending.

Irish Finance Minister Michael McGrath disagreed with the IFAC criticism. He said that due to inflation, the government needed to change its policy. This included breaking the spending rule.

He said that overall it was the right decision.

  • ‘Extremely hazardous’ hurricane expected to develop from tropical storm Lee

‘Extremely hazardous’ hurricane expected to develop from tropical storm Lee

The Tropical Storm Lee is going to get stronger and become a very dangerous hurricane in a few days.

The storm has started in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday, according to the US National Hurricane Centre (NHC).

It is still too soon to know how much it will affect us, but it is not expected to reach land right now.

It is predicted that Lee will turn into a very strong hurricane. According to the NHC, the hurricane is expected to affect the Leeward Islands.

The text is saying that it is too early to know exactly where and how much impact there will be, but people in that area should keep an eye on the progress of Lee.

The wind from Lee is predicted to be very strong later in the week, reaching 145mph (233km/h). This would make it a category four hurricane.

The NHC says that a hurricane of this size could cause very serious damage if it hits land.

This happened shortly after Hurricane Idalia hit Florida, causing damage to homes and power lines. The hurricane then moved to Georgia and brought bad weather to the Carolinas. In Georgia, there were big power outages that lasted for several days. Over 200,000 people were affected by this.

The 2023 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to have more hurricanes than normal, and the strongest storms are expected to occur in about a week.

Scientists are not sure how climate change affects the number of tropical storms. However, when the ocean’s surface gets hotter, it warms up the air above it, and this extra heat energy can help make hurricanes stronger.

Therefore, they will very likely become stronger and have heavier rainfall.

Eritrea denies Amnesty’s accusations of war crimes in Tigray

The government of Eritrea disagreed with Amnesty International‘s claim that its soldiers committed serious crimes in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, even though a peace agreement was signed last November.

Soldiers from Eritrea supported the federal forces during the two-year civil war.

Eritrea’s representative at the United Nations said that Amnesty International’s accusations against the Eritrean Defense Forces are not valid or based on any evidence.

The ministry also said that the report had problems with how it was done and contained untrue statements and twisted facts. They believe it was an unsuccessful attempt to insult the Eritrean people.

Amnesty didn’t do any research. Instead, it decided to repeat unproven accusations against Eritrea’s military team without providing evidence. These accusations were found in sources that did not mention any names or identities. This is part of their campaign to defame the State of Eritrea, which has been going on for ten years. ”

Please rephrase the following passage using simpler language: Please simplify the text below: “Can you please restate this paragraph using more straightforward language. ”

The ministry also claimed that the rights group is trying to spread hate and create conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia.

MSF suspends operations in Central African Republic town due to attacks

Medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has stopped temporarily going to health centers in the northern part of the Central African Republic (CAR).

It says that people who help others, sick people, and the people who take care of them are experiencing a lot of violence from local armed groups when they go around the town of Batangafo in the northern Central African Republic.

Gisa Kohler, who is in charge of operations for MSF in the country, says that we are very upset about any violence that happens to patients, their caretakers, our staff, or the bike riders who deliver supplies for our humanitarian organization.

The charity says it can’t keep giving healthcare in the area where two really terrible attacks happened in less than a week, from August 26 to 30.

This year, Batangafo has experienced at least 16 attacks. These incidents mostly involve groups of armed men committing violent robberies.

The people who were hurt include motorbike riders who take patients from one place to another, community health workers who give care in rural areas, and groups of vehicles with workers who travel to local communities for activities.

Moreover, there were two incidents where a worker from MSF and people taking care of patients were victims of sexual violence.

MSF has asked all armed groups to treat healthcare staff, humanitarian workers, patients, and their caretakers with kindness and make sure they are safe.

The organization has been in the location since 2006.

Ghana certain to get next installment of IMF bailout

The person in charge of finances in Ghana, Ken Ofori-Atta, believes that Ghana will receive $600m as part of a financial aid package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the end of the year.

In May, Ghana agreed to receive a new financial assistance plan worth $3 billion for the next three years in order to alleviate its economic difficulties.

It got $600 million at first, but the government had to do some things to get more money later.

In November, there will be a review. Ofori-Atta said the country has made progress in improving its finances and balancing payments.

The government has made the tax net bigger by adding new rules. One of these rules is that people who win money from betting or the lottery have to pay 10% of their winnings as tax. They did this to get more money, which was a requirement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The IMF has stated that the economy of Ghana is getting better, because there are now more foreign reserves, the exchange rate is not changing as much, and the inflation rate is going down.

  • Adina narrates how she survived through Liberia’s civil war

Adina narrates how she survived through Liberia’s civil war

Ghanaian-South African singer Adina shared the impact of Liberia’s civil war on her family. Her mother returned to Ghana out of fear for their lives, and she later learned through the internet that her father had passed away.

Adina Thembi Ndamse, born in Liberia, was an infant when the initial Liberian civil war erupted in 1989. The war’s intensity and the struggle for survival led to her parents losing contact.

“Mum is Ghanaian; my father is South African. They met in Liberia when my mum went to Liberia to work. My father was in exile in Liberia because it was apartheid and his father was in government. He had to go somewhere to seek asylum because if he had stayed in South Africa a little longer, I don’t think he would have lived for long… That’s how he met my mum”, Adina told Stacy on the ‘Restoration With Stacy’ show.

“I was born in October; the war broke out a month or two later. By 1990, we came to Ghana… I wasn’t even a year old so I didn’t see anything”, the musician added.

Sharing the story of how events unfolded as narrated to her by the mother, Adina said her father was a doctor “and was working at a different region in Liberia”.

“When the war broke out, it was hard for my mum to go to where my dad was. A few times, he’d try but it was very risky because the rebels were on the street; randomly, they’d stop you and say ‘dance around with your naked body’. It was traumatizing. At a point where she realized it wasn’t safe, she decided to come to Ghana but he was too far away so they lost touch.”

They relocated to Ghana after being warned of an attack, she said.

“Where we lived, we were living comfortably until we had a tipoff that the rebels were going to blast the place the next morning so they (residents) literally run in the middle of the night”, said Adina.

She mentioned that the father wrote letters in his quest to communicate to the family but they received the letter years later. As one who had never met her father, she held the letters dearly.

“My attachment to my father was the letters he wrote,” she declared while disclosing that her father died. According to her, the mother hid news of her father’s demise from her because she did not want to burst her bubble considering how she [Adina] was eager to meet her father.

“When I grew up, my mum told me my dad was from South Africa. I didn’t know he had died”, Adina said, adding that she found out about her father’s departure to eternity through the internet when she was almost 18 years old.

“I cried. Everybody in the cafe came to console me. I broke down,” she recalled her reaction.

On how her mother has been affected by the development, Adina said: “My mum has PTSD [posttraumatic stress disorder]. She doesn’t like to watch movies that have guns because she actually saw people shot and killed during the war. She’s terrified of loud noises.”

  • False information spread prior to Nigerian election outcome

False information spread prior to Nigerian election outcome

The Nigerian election ruling, which is still being read out, has been accompanied by a lot of false information being spread on social media by influential people and small blogs. These false claims are aimed at the judges on the tribunal.

They have been thinking about problems with Bola Tinubu winning the presidential election in February.

In July, a news website called Igbo Times said that a judge named Justice Boloukuoromo M Ugo had quit the election tribunal panel because people were trying to harm democracy. It also said that he confessed to being asked by the ruling party to support their candidate.

Justice Ugo has not quit, and there is no proof for the statements made by Igbo Times.

In September, some popular people on social media who support the Labour Party started saying that the tribunal had decided to announce the judgement on 16th September. They said that they did this to stop the other side from reacting to the decision because it was the last day that the court could meet.

This wrong statement became the main story before the court announced that September 6 would be the day for its decision.

Some people have sent scary messages and posted pictures of the family members of certain judges. They use #AllEyesOntheJudiciary with their posts.

it seems like someone is trying to scare or threaten others before a decision is made.

Godpapa and Empress Lupita back on social media after police release

The mentally challenged social media couple, Godpapa The Greatest and Empress Lupita, have triumphantly reappeared online after their release from police custody.

This couple, renowned for their distinctive online presence, faced arrest several months ago due to their alleged connection to the tragic passing of their son, El-Shaa.

The saga began when their second son, El Waa, gained widespread attention in a Facebook video, accusing his mother, Empress Lupita, of harming his younger brother, El-Shaa.

This shocking revelation went viral, leading to public outcry and demands for law enforcement to intervene.

Responding to mounting public concern, the police initiated an inquiry and subsequently apprehended Godpapa The Greatest and Empress Lupita.

The couple endured an extended period of detention, eventually being transferred to a psychiatric facility for further evaluation and assessment.

After enduring months of intensive questioning and confinement, Godpapa The Greatest and Empress Lupita have at last regained their freedom.

  • Unexpected public statement made by Sara Sharif’s stepparents

Unexpected public statement made by Sara Sharif’s stepparents

Sara Sharif‘s stepmother and father have shared a strange video, which is their first public statement since the girl passed away.

This morning, Beinash Batool, 29, spoke in a video shown on Sky News. She read a statement from a notebook while Urfan Sharif, 41, did not say anything.

She didn’t show any feelings when she said that Sara’s death was just “an incident” and that she and Mr. Sharif are ready to help the UK authorities.

First, I want to mention Sara. Sara died unexpectedly. My relatives in Pakistan are having a really hard time with everything that is happening,” she said.

The media is spreading false information and making up lies. Sharif’s brother never said that Sara fell down the stairs and broke her neck. This was shared through a Pakistani news source. I am very concerned about Imran’s safety.

All our family members are hiding because they are afraid for their safety. The children can’t go to school because they are scared to go outside their house. Nobody is going outside of the house.

The adults are scared and can’t go outside, so there is no food left for the kids. That’s why we are hiding.

‘Lastly, we are ready to work with the UK authorities and present our argument in court. ’

Sara was found dead in her house in Woking, Surrey on August 10. The police were called by Urfan from Pakistan.

The reason why she died has not been found yet. A study done after she died said that she had many injuries for a long time.

Urfan, Beinash, and Faisal Shahzad Malik, who is 28 years old, all ran away to Pakistan after her death. Since then, there has been a global search for them.

Sara Sharif’s mom also shared her sadness after seeing her daughter’s swollen and bruised body at the mortuary.

She told Mr. Sharif and Ms. Batool to step forward before, and said that life will never be like before after Sara’s death.

She strongly disagrees with Mr. Sharif’s brother, Imran, who says her daughter had an accident and broke her neck by falling down the stairs. She believes that if there really was an accident, it wouldn’t make sense for them to secretly travel out of the country.

  • Martin Lewis offers straightforward to reducing holiday spending

Martin Lewis offers straightforward to reducing holiday spending

The high cost of living keeps affecting us, with prices of food, bills, and other important things getting higher. Sending a letter is also becoming more costly.

Yes, the price of stamps is going to increase soon – only a few months after the barcode was added, making everyone’s old stamps without a barcode unusable.

You can save money on postage by following Martin Lewis‘ advice. Take action now to beat the high cost of postage.

This is what the person who started Money Saving Expert said.
How much will the cost of stamps increase.

Starting from October 2, the cost of a first-class stamp will go up by 14% for a regular letter. This is the second time the price has gone up this year, the first being in April when it increased from 95p to £1. 10

The price will increase from £1. 10 to £125
The price of regular second class stamps will stay the same, but it will cost more to send a big letter with second-class mail.

This is how everything is divided:

The price of first-class tickets has gone up by 15p, which is a 14% increase. The new cost is now between £1. 10 and £125
    First-class large tickets increased from £1. 60 to £195, which is a rise of 35p or 22%.
Second-class standard postage will remain at 75p, there will be no change.
    Second-class – Large: The price has increased from £1. 15 to £155, which is a rise of 40p, or a 35% increase.

The prices for Royal Mail’s Signed For and Special Delivery Guaranteed services will increase starting from October 2nd.

You can get all the details about the new fees on Royal Mail’s website.
Here’s how you can spend less money on stamps.

Martin Lewis has given some useful advice on how to save money on stamps before the prices go up again.

The journalist who writes about money said that the easiest way to stay ahead is to buy things now, while they’re still cheaper.

Caution: The endorsement from Martin Lewis is fake, it is the first AI scam targeting him.
For a long time, whenever the price of stamps increased, I advised people to buy a lot of stamps in advance. This is because if the stamp only indicates the postage class and doesn’t have a price on it, it will still be valid even after the price increase.

This method has worked well because the cost of a first-class letter stamp has increased. It used to be 60p in 2012 and now it is £1. 10, soon to be £1. 25

So it’s a good idea to buy a lot of things now, even if it’s just Christmas cards for the next few years.

Another way to save money is by using second-class postage for regular letters, as their prices are not increasing.

If you need to send a package, you can save money by using courier services like My Parcel Delivery or Parcel2Go instead of Royal Mail. If you are buying something for someone else online, you can have it sent directly to them for free if the items are expensive enough.

  • How to propose to a guy

How to propose to a guy

While traditionally, proposing to someone has been considered a man’s role, as a woman, you should never hesitate to take the initiative. In today’s world, women excel in various aspects of life. Therefore, if you’ve discovered that special someone, don’t hesitate to express your feelings and propose to him.

Proposing to a guy can be a wonderful and memorable experience. Here are some steps to consider when planning your proposal:

    1. Understand his feelings: Before proposing, make sure you have a good understanding of your partner’s feelings and intentions. Ensure that both of you are on the same page regarding your future together.

    2. Choose the right moment: Pick a special and meaningful moment for your proposal. It could be a significant date, a memorable place, or simply a time when you both feel connected and happy.

    3. Be Sincere and Authentic: When you propose, express your feelings sincerely. Be yourself and let your true emotions shine through. Honesty is key.

    4. Choose the Right Place

Guys can be sentimental at times. Avoid picking up a crowded place to propose to him. Proposing at a crowded place may put both of you in an awkward situation. Places like shopping malls, coffee shops, and theatres are not the right places to propose a guy. Choose a place that would be quiet. Make sure the spot you have chosen to make your proposal should provide some privacy. Places like gardens or beaches can be perfect to propose to a guy.

    5. Make it Romantic and Memorable

It may sound clichéd but bending down on your knees and proposing to your love with a ring is still considered very romantic. Doing so will melt his heart and he might express his love for you right there. You may toss a question at the place where you met for the first time. The fond memories will flood both of your hearts embracing you with the truest feelings of love. Your proposal should be passionate and romantic. A yes or a no is may be dependent on the way you propose.

    6. Prepare a Speech: Think about what you want to say during the proposal. It could be a heartfelt speech about your love and commitment, or it could be a simple declaration of your desire to spend your lives together.

    7. Capture the Moment: Consider having someone capture the proposal on camera or video, or set up a tripod to record it. This will create lasting memories.

    8. Be Ready for His Response: Understand that he may need some time to process the proposal, and his response may not be immediate. Be patient and open to his feelings and thoughts.

Remember that proposing to a guy is a personal and unique experience, so tailor it to your relationship and what feels right for both of you. Ultimately, it’s about expressing your love and commitment to one another.

  • I am not wealthy – Medikal

I am not wealthy – Medikal

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has come forward to confirm that he is not as wealthy as some people believe after Hajia4real threatened to speak out to reduce her jail term in the United States.

Medikal has long been seen as one of the wealthiest musicians in the country, with many questioning the source of his wealth, as music alone is often not considered highly lucrative.

Without concrete evidence, some have even speculated that he may be involved in fraudulent activities (known as Sakawa) alongside his music career, using the latter as a cover.

During a Twitter Space discussion with Presenter Cookie Tee, Medikal was asked about his conspicuous displays of wealth, including luxurious cars and houses on social media.

In response, he explained that these displays are primarily for promotional purposes, designed to enhance his image as a musician. He emphasized that people shouldn’t take these displays too seriously because he is not as affluent as he may appear on social media.

“It’s all props, it’s like the Rambo movie, you see him with guns, shooting and killing, but in real life, he’s in The Bahamas chilling, that’s how it is. So what you see on social media is an illusion. It’s just my brand. I don’t have anything. My fans know that whatever I don’t own, I won’t claim as my own. I’m not rich, I’m trying to survive, I’m a hustler just like everyone else,” he disclosed.

Speculation has arisen that Medikal’s comment about his wealth might be an attempt to distance himself from any potential involvement in Hajia4Real’s situation. There is a belief among some that he could be connected to her case and is seeking ways to avoid being implicated.

Hajia4real recently made threats to speak up, indicating that she has reached her breaking point with the individuals she has been trying to protect. Her upcoming court appearance has generated anticipation, as many are waiting to see whether she will indeed speak out and whether she will maintain her stance of innocence in the case that has been brought against her.

It’s important to note that these are allegations and speculations, and the true nature of Medikal’s involvement, if any, in Hajia4Real’s situation is not confirmed at this time. The outcome of her court appearance will likely provide more clarity on the matter.

  • Father of 12-year-old child murdered while crossing M62 admits manslaughter

Father of 12-year-old child murdered while crossing M62 admits manslaughter

The father of a 12-year-old disabled boy who died after being hit by a car on the M62 has admitted to causing his death.

Callum Rycroft got hit by a Toyota on the side of the road going east on August 5th.

He was trying to get from the middle of the road to the side of the road when he got hit on the part of the road between junctions 25 and 26, close to Bradford.

A person who speaks for the Crown Prosecution Service said that Callum’s father, Martin Rycroft, had been drinking all day while visiting his parents in Huddersfield.

Rycroft’s parents told him not to drive, but he didn’t listen and went away in his car with his son, according to the spokesperson.

They said: ‘His parents called him and asked him to stop driving, but he ignored them. ‘

Callum was overheard saying, “Dad. won’t quit” in the distance. They also followed him, but Rycroft didn’t pay attention to them. His Audi was seen driving badly in Huddersfield and then got onto the M62 at junction 25.

He was able to get off the highway at Hartshead Moor services, but he crashed into a curb and the vehicle flipped over because he couldn’t navigate a sharp turn.

The CPS said the two people started walking towards the main road. They said that Callum called his mom and dialed 999, but Rycroft told him to hang up the call.

‘They were observed crossing the highway towards the middle area, and then for some unknown reason attempted to run back. ‘

Callum died right away when a car hit him, and his body was discovered on the side of the road where cars were traveling towards the west.

Today, Rycroft admitted to causing someone’s death and driving dangerously in a court in Leeds.

He also admitted that he did not give a breath sample at Leeds General Infirmary after the event.

In a message from the police in West Yorkshire, Callum’s mom said: “Callum was a lovely, cheerful person who was one-of-a-kind, really fun, and had a big personality. ” He made the room bright, happy, and loud.

‘Callum greatly affected everyone he met. ‘ The house is very silent when he is not here.

We are extremely upset about what happened and we kindly ask that people give us space and time to deal with this difficult situation.

‘We appreciate the support and nice comments we have received. ‘

Tom Neofytou from the CPS said that Callum’s father acted carelessly and criminally, causing Callum to suffer greatly. Now, the rest of Callum’s family is left to grieve for his loss.

We feel very sorry for them.

Rycroft will stay in jail until a sentencing date, which won’t happen before September 19.

  • Turkey unintentionally ‘declares war’ on Russia in front Putin

Turkey unintentionally ‘declares war’ on Russia in front Putin

The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, unintentionally seemed to start a war with Russia because of a mistake in translation during a meeting with Vladimir Putin.

The translator at a meeting in Sochi said that Russia and Turkey are fighting each other in a war.

Turkey is a member of Nato, and if this statement is accurate, it would cause a big war all over the world.

But Putin, who was there to talk about the Black Sea Grain agreement, seemed unfazed by the apparent mistake.

The interpreter made a mistake, causing Turkey’s president to say he is going to start a war with Russia.
It was not clear if the male interpreter was from Russia or Turkey, but the official meeting record showed that the translator, not Erdoğan, had made the mistake.

The Turkish president told Putin that the current situation between Ukraine and Russia is the reason for their visit.

And your invitation – we are happy that we got your invitation. My group is happy to have gotten this invitation.

The meeting was organized to make an agreement on the Black Sea grain initiative, which aims to provide food to the poorest countries in the world.

Putin told Erdoğan that Russia is willing to provide Turkey with up to one million tons of grain at a lower price. Russia sees Turkey as a middleman between them and the western countries.

The meeting was an uncommon visit for a foreign leader to Russia. Putin is feeling more and more alone because of the violent war he is having with Ukraine.

In March, the ruler of a country was given a legal order to be arrested by an international court for doing bad things during the war in Ukraine. This makes it hard for him to go to other countries.
Some believe that the reason for holding the summit in Sochi was because of this, while others argue that it is a way for Putin to hide his rumored health issues.

Putin said during his press conference that he feels like he was tricked by the West regarding the grain export deal. He also reiterated that Russia would only participate in the deal again if the West stops limiting the export of Russian agricultural products to the world.

“The dictator said that our Western partners cheated on us once again, which is something that normally happens. ” ‘And they didn’t keep their promise – once more. ‘

Another agreement made with the United Nations asks for easier conditions to help Russia export food and fertilizers.

Erdoğan suggested that Ukraine should be less strict in its negotiations with Russia for reviving the deal. He also advised Ukraine to send more grain to Africa instead of Europe.

‘Ukraine needs to be more flexible in its approaches so that it is possible to take collaborative actions with Russia,’ he told reporters.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said on Ukrainian TV that Kyiv will not change its position but will consider what Turkey has said about the talks in Sochi.

Kuleba said that we should not keep being controlled by Russia’s threats and manipulation. Russia causes problems and then expects others to fix them.

We will protect our beliefs and stand up against sanctions on Russia.

Ghanaian lady gets married to her ‘brother’

Barbara, a Ghanaian lady, has shared a love story many deem ‘unconventional’. While getting ready for her big day, Barbara who was interviewed by those documenting her wedding revealed the unique journey she and the groom, Dennis, embarked on to find love in each other.

During an interview with Luxury Event/Wedding Vlogger blogwithmcb, Barbara recounted how their connection had initially resembled that of siblings, as their families rented neighboring apartments when they were just 5 and 7 years old.

Barbara explained that her father had taken on a fatherly role in Dennis’s life, given his own father’s absence. As the years passed, they grew up side by side, considering each other as siblings and even playfully referring to potential suitors as their respective “in-laws.” However, as life pulled them in separate directions, they lost touch.

It was only later, during a conversation, that Dennis revealed his feelings for Barbara, confessing that he had been interested in her but had hesitated due to their sibling-like bond. After sharing their newfound affection with their families and receiving their blessings, the two began dating, ultimately culminating in their joyous wedding day.

Russian ‘Alligator’ helicopter, worth £12,500,000, destroyed

This is the intense moment when a highly developed Russian attack helicopter, nicknamed the ‘Alligator’, is shot down by Ukraine‘s military.

A video shows the Swedish army using a small portable missile launcher to successfully attack an aircraft.

In simple words, a guy from Ukraine said to shoot, and a few seconds later, someone happily shouted that they hit the target.

The Ka-52, a helicopter gunship, is very expensive, costing at least £12. 5 million The Kremlin praises it as the best in the world. However, sometimes it crashes and causes a big fire.

A Russian helicopter called Ka-52 was destroyed by Ukrainian forces.
A video of what happened afterwards shows fire and smoke coming out of the crashed plane.

The event is said to have occurred in August at a field close to a place called Robotyne, that was recently freed. It happened in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Video from a Telegram channel called War Gonzo showed that while the ‘Alligator’ was on fire in a field, a Russian transport helicopter flew nearby and landed.

The pilot ran with two rescuers into a helicopter while his plane was producing a lot of thick black smoke.
The news channel said that right after the helicopter crash, another helicopter called Mi-28 came to the site. It checked the area, found where the person who survived was, and sent a message for them to be rescued.

A little while later, a helicopter came and took the pilot.

The Ka-52 helicopter can destroy things on the ground like tanks, vehicles with and without armor, and slow-moving objects in the air.

As soldiers move closer to the battlefront during the three-month counterattack, people are paying more attention to how well they are performing.

Ukrainian soldiers said that two helicopters, called ‘Alligators’, were shot down. One was near Robytyne and the other was near Bakhmut, both in Donetsk region.

Russia is estimated to have lost nine attack helicopters in the war with Ukraine.

  • Stranded British citizens make appeal as Greek island gets severely flooded

Stranded British citizens make appeal as Greek island gets severely flooded

People from Britain who were on vacation are stuck and desperate for assistance because a Greek island experienced heavy flooding.

The island of Skiathos, which is located east of Greece, experienced heavy rain that resulted in sudden flooding this week.

Emergency services are telling people to stay inside because some tourists are stuck in hotels without power and are having trouble reaching out for help, according to the MailOnline.

According to news sources, the mayor of the island has asked for a state of emergency to be declared.

People are really scared and think the situation is really bad. No planes have been able to come or go from the airport on the island.

Jet2 announced yesterday evening that it had to cancel all five flights scheduled to go to the island on Tuesday and Wednesday. They said that the situation was completely out of their control.

The pictures and videos are really scary. They show that the streets of Skiathos became like rivers, and the strong water washed away bins, tables, chairs, and cars.

A person from Britain on vacation said that they and their spouse were supposed to take a flight back home at 8pm on Wednesday, but the flight got cancelled. They haven’t gotten much information from TUI about when they can return to Manchester Airport.
Right now, they are stuck at their hotel with no electricity and they are running out of food.

The hotel is providing a place for local people to stay because their homes on the beach were destroyed by the floods.

He said: ‘We are running out of food at the hotel. ‘ We can’t bring any more things because the road near our hotel has fallen apart.

The rain has been really strong for about 36 hours. Our hotel is currently providing a place to stay for local families who no longer have a home near the beach.

Floods happen when there is very heavy rain in Greece, and the water flows fast down the streets.
Two women were saved from a road that was covered in water.

Videos shared by people who live there show water moving quickly through the streets of the town. The flooding happened just a few days after British people had finished their summer holidays.

Emma Taylor was in Skiathos to celebrate her daughter’s 22nd birthday. The hotel staff, who were scared, told guests to leave their rooms if they needed to go back home by plane.

She said that if their flights were cancelled, they could check in again.

She said: ‘This storm is very dangerous. ‘ There is water coming into our hotel corridors and ceilings, the electricity keeps going out, but luckily we are safe because we are on a higher floor at the Skiathos Palace in Koukounaries. Some people have been told to leave the rooms they are staying in.

She said the entire experience has been intense and worrying. She and her family have been unable to leave their hotel.

Visitors to the island have said they cannot leave because they are stuck at the airport.

The rough sea has made it unsafe for ferries to travel to and from the island. As a result, passengers are not sure if they can catch their flights back home in the coming days.

In the past few days, there have been flash floods in the Mediterranean. This happened after very hot weather and intense wildfires.

Many bridges in Spain got damaged because the rivers overflowed. Turkey and Bulgaria also experienced flooding, and there was significant damage in the Turkish capital city, Istanbul.

Emergency services used boats to rescue people from cars and buildings on flooded roads.

Court schedules Seun Kuti’s arraignment for a later date

Nigerian Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti’s arraignment is rescheduled for Wednesday, September 27, by a Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos.

The case faced multiple delays, including one on Monday, September 4, when Chief Magistrate Adeola Olaunbosun, the presiding judge, was unwell.

In total, the case has been postponed four times.

Previously, on May 13, 2023, the former Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered Seun Kuti’s arrest for assaulting a police officer in uniform on the Third Mainland Bridge, leading to the singer’s apprehension.

Seun Kuti, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, defended himself, claiming on his Instagram Story that a police officer attempted to kill him but opted not to file charges.

He was subsequently taken into custody, restrained, and transferred to the state CID in Panti, Yaba, for an investigation. On May 23, he was released after meeting the conditions of his bail.

  • Family of Sara Sharif being “harassed” by police

Family of Sara Sharif being “harassed” by police

The father of Sara Sharif‘s grandfather has asked his own son to go to the police after Sara, who was 10 years old, died.

Muhammad Sharif, who is 68 years old, also said that the police are bothering his family and have arrested some of his family members.

The police want to talk to Muhammad Sharif’s son Urfan Sharif, his partner Beinash Batool, and his brother Faisal Shahzad Malik. This is because Sara was found dead at her home in Woking, Surrey, last month.

Officers think that Urfan Sharif, who is 41 years old, went to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, the day before they found Sara’s body. He went there with Ms Batool, who is 29 years old, Mr Malik, who is 28 years old, and five children aged between one and 13 years old.

Mr Sharif asked the police to let his family members go.
‘I have done everything that I can to get in touch with Urfan and ask him to show up and share his perspective. ’

Mr Sharif said in an interview with The Sunday Times that his son had visited their home in Jhelum, Punjab province, for a short time in August.

A report done after Sara’s death last month showed that she had many injuries that were probably caused over a long period of time.

They do not know the exact reason she died yet, but they think it was probably not a natural death, according to what was said in the investigation.

According to Surrey County Council, authorities already knew about her before. Surrey Police said they had some contact with Sara’s family in the past, but it was limited and happened a long time ago.

Urfan Sharif phoned emergency services in Pakistan on the day his daughter’s body was discovered, saying that he was worried about her well-being, as stated by the officers.
The police in Pakistan are doing everything they can to find the family. Interpol and other agencies are also helping to search for them.

Last week, Ms Batool’s cousin told her to return to the UK and surrender to the police.

The person, who didn’t want their name to be known, said that Ms Batool was not in contact with her parents anymore because she ran away to get married to Mr Sharif.

Last month, the police in Jhelum, Pakistan, informed Sky News that Imran Sharif, Sara’s uncle, was in their custody but not formally charged.

He said to the officers that the family’s story was that Sara had an accident at home, according to the police.

He is accused of telling the officers that Beinash was at home with the children. Sara had an accident and hurt her neck badly while going down the stairs. Beinash got scared and called Urfan.

Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, has been helped by special officers after Sara died.

  • ‘We’re going to die of starvation’ – Residents of Nagorno-Karabakh

‘We’re going to die of starvation’ – Residents of Nagorno-Karabakh

Ani Kirakosyani discovered she was going to have a baby just a month after the Nagorno-Karabakh blockade started.

Kirakosyani said to CNN that in her village called Haterk, which is located in a valley between the hills of Caucasus, they ran out of food quickly, and the shops began to shut down. The only food she had was what she could get from her garden, mostly tomatoes and beans.

During her pregnancy, Kirakosyani was unable to go to her hospital appointments because there was not enough fuel for public transportation. Instead, she had to walk for long distances to a nearby medical clinic. However, this clinic was not able to catch any issues with her pregnancy early on, according to what she told CNN over the phone.

Kirakosyani is a person who lives in Nagorno-Karabakh. Nagorno-Karabakh is a place where there are 120,000 people. It is called the Republic of Artsakh by the people who live there. It is a place that is argued over because some people think it belongs to Azerbaijan. Most of the people who live there are Armenian. The area has been stopped and cut off since December 2022 when the only road connecting the region to the outside world was blocked by people who care about the environment with support from the Azerbaijani government. They have also put a military checkpoint on that road. The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) was concerned that there could be a genocide happening to the Armenian people in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Kirakosyani was six months pregnant when she started feeling a pain in her belly. She had to go to the hospital. On the way, the ambulance had to make a stop and pick up six more patients because the driver needed to conserve fuel. When Kirakosyani got to the hospital, she was told that her pregnancy was in danger and she would have to have her baby three months earlier than planned.

Her husband was not home because he was working in the military. He couldn’t find fuel to travel 100 miles by car to be there for her in the hospital. She was by herself when the doctors told her that she had a stillbirth caused by not eating enough food and being very worried, she said.

Kirakosyani told CNN that she would have been playing with her child today if there wasn’t a blockade.

The number of recorded miscarriages has increased four times compared to last year, according to statistics given to CNN by the Ombudsman of the Artsakh Republic. The Ombudsman is a public official who watches over the protection of human rights by government bodies.

And, because there is not enough food, fuel, and medicine due to the long blockade, the people in the region are suffering. Officials in the area reported the first death from not having enough food on August 15. Gegham Stepanyan, the ombudsman of Artsakh, confirmed this over the phone with CNN.

Foreign media have been denied access to the area ever since the blockade began.

The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, which is a group of US politicians from different parties, has planned a hearing for Wednesday to discuss what’s happening in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Lachin corridor is a route that is important for Nagorno-Karabakh as it used to bring 90% of their food from Armenia.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which used to be the only organization allowed to bring help to people in need through the Lachin corridor, last gave food to the region on June 14. The information was shared in a press release by the ICRC on August 18.

In August, experts from the United Nations asked Azerbaijan to stop the severe humanitarian crisis in the area by removing the blockade. Additionally, Luis Moreno Ocampo, the former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, stated that there is a valid reason to believe that Armenians are experiencing genocide.

In response to what Ocampo said, a lawyer hired by Azerbaijan said that the accusation of genocide is unfounded and very risky.

Arayik Harutyunyan, the President of Artsakh who was elected in 2020, stated in an email to CNN that Azerbaijan has cut off supplies and access to Artsakh with the main intention of trying to kill our people.

CNN asked the Armenian government for their opinion, and they shared statements made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with his advisors. He said that Azerbaijan is causing harm to the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh by not giving them enough food, which he called a genocide.

CNN contacted the Azerbaijani foreign ministry for a comment, but they haven’t received a response yet.

There is not enough food, medicine, water, and fuel coming into the area, so the local supplies are running out. According to the government of Artsakh Republic, they do not have milk products, grains, fish, chicken, cooking oil, sugar, salt, fruits, vegetables, fuel, and hygiene products inside their territory.

Max Mkhitaryan, who owns a shop, showed CNN around his store in the main city, Stepanakert.

He told CNN that he used to get most of his fruits and vegetables from Armenia before the blockade. The only things still on the shelves were bags of bread, honey made nearby, and a small number of vodka bottles. He can now only help one out of every ten customers because there is hardly anything left on the shelves.

In the past, I used to help 250 people every day, but now I can only help my own family. “I have just one more week before the shop closes and I don’t have a job,” he told CNN.

There are long lines of people outside his store, stretching through the messy streets, waiting for bread. The trash pickup is being delayed often because there is not enough fuel. And in the nearby pharmacy, the products are running out quickly.

According to Stepanyan, the shortage of fuel has caused a lack of electricity. This means that there are power cuts for eight hours each day. Additionally, the shortage of fuel has also led to untreated drinking water which has caused an increase in illnesses.

The people who run the enclave say that 95% of the residents are not getting enough food and important nutrients like vitamins and minerals.

As winter is coming and it’s time to harvest the crops, people in Nagorno-Karabakh are worried because they don’t have enough fuel to gather their crops. They feel like nobody is listening to their pleas for help.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have been fighting over the status of Nagorno-Karabakh since the Soviet Union ended. Nationalism became dominant when there was no governing power, and this led to violence against people from different ethnic groups happening right away. Both the Armenians living in Azerbaijan and the Azeris living in Armenia argue that they were forcibly removed from their homes because of their ethnicity, resulting in lasting emotional wounds for many generations on both sides of the border they are arguing over.

In the early 1990s, Armenian forces gained power over big areas of land in and around Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan, with the support of Turkey, took over a big part of those areas in a war that lasted for six weeks in 2020. Many people lost their lives during the conflict.

The separatist area only had the main city of Stepanakert and a few nearby towns. The people there were still suffering from the losses of the violent 2020 conflict, and there were occasional small fights along the border. During the recent increase in tensions, Baku says it will take back and join the territory with Azerbaijan completely. However, ethnic Armenians are unwilling to leave the region as they believe it is their homeland.

Ronald Suny, a professor at the University of Michigan, said to CNN that Azerbaijan’s main objective after winning the war in 2020 against Armenia is to forcefully remove the Armenian population in the region called Artsakh and make it part of Azerbaijan.

Instead of using physical force which would cause other countries to oppose them, Baku is resolved to make the Armenians’ lives extremely difficult, deprive them of food, and force them to leave.

To add to the complexity, Azerbaijan, a country where one political party is in control and has been led by President Ilham Aliyev for the past 20 years, has suggested providing the breakaway region with supplies through a border crossing in the nearby Azerbaijani city, Aghdam.

Harutyunyan, the leader of Nagorno-Karabakh, told CNN that our people are worried about the safety of any products from Azerbaijan because Azerbaijan has a history of wanting to kill us Armenians and has a government policy of hating us.

“He said Azerbaijan should stop pretending to help people and open the Lachin corridor. ”

As the blockade continues without any anticipated end, Peter Stano, a spokesperson for EU foreign affairs, expressed worries about the dire humanitarian conditions. He urged for the complete reopening of the Lachin corridor, allowing for the passage of medical evacuations and humanitarian aid.

A spokesperson from the US State Department told CNN through email that they want the government of Azerbaijan to quickly allow the free movement of commercial, humanitarian, and private vehicles through the Lachin corridor.

But Harutyunyan told CNN that he was not happy with how the EU and the US have reacted until now. He believes that their lack of action and failure is solely based on geopolitical reasons.

“He also mentioned that one of the reasons is the dependence on Azerbaijan for energy. ”

According to Reuters, the European Union decided in July 2022 to increase their gas purchases from Azerbaijan by two times before 2027.

Russia, who helped establish the ceasefire in 2020, has peacekeepers positioned along the Lachin corridor. However, Russia has chosen not to get involved any further.

CNN has tried to contact the Russian Foreign Ministry but they haven’t received a response yet.

A spokesperson from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said during a meeting on August 2 that Russia doesn’t agree with any accusations of not taking action to help the Russian peacekeepers. They believe these claims are not helpful and do not consider the actual support the peacekeepers provide to stabilize the situation.

Artyom Tonoyan, a professor at Hamline University in the United States, said that the Russians, who typically have control over the Caucasus region, are currently too focused on Ukraine to try and reduce the conflict there.

Because it doesn’t seem like countries will work together to stop the blockade anytime soon, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh have to find quick fixes to survive. They have to find firewood, get water, and search for food.

Last year at this time, Anahit Gharaghazaryan, who is a schoolteacher and a mother of three children, told CNN that she was getting ready to teach her students as they came back to school after the summer vacation.

Her son was supposed to start school next week. Instead, she is concerned about how he will manage during the winter season.

Doctors believe that it is wrong for kids to keep going to school if they are malnourished. Additionally, this year many kids cannot go to school because they don’t have a way to get there and they don’t have the things they need like pens, books, and clothes.

In August, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Vahe Gevorgyan, said that the blockade by Azerbaijan had harmed 2,000 pregnant women, around 30,000 children, 20,000 elderly people, and 9,000 people with disabilities.

If the blockade continues for much longer, more and more people will suffer from hunger. “I can’t sleep because I’m worried about how I will provide food for my three sons,” Gharaghazaryan said. We are all losing faith. How many more people need to die before the world pays attention.

Ghanaian Socialite Hajia4Reall has made another intriguing post as she anticipates her upcoming court trial on September 23, 2023.

Previously, in a series of online rants, the socialite, who is currently entangled in a romance scam case, hinted at the impending moment to “speak out.”

Recently, the”Say What” hitmaker posted on her snapchat “It always seems impossible until it is done hmm. If I start talking… At the right time, I will talk! Enough is enough!”

Her latest post indicates that Hajia4Reall is suffering from the consequences of others’ actions.

In another post on Instagram, implying that she is innocent, she said “Not every bullet wound is from the battlefield, some bullet wounds are stray bullets. My current life story.”

However, she strongly believes that she will be vindicated soon.

“I will be vindicated when all is said and done. It’s only a matter of time and the light of truth will outshine the darkness.”

EPL unveils VAR audio for Onana’s Wolves incident decision

VAR in football remains divisive, sparking outrage frequently. In the 2023/2024 Premier League season’s early stages, six contentious moments have already arisen, notably involving Man United’s Andre Onana and Nathan Ake’s goal against Fulham.

The Premier League has released audio explanations for these incidents under “Match Officials: Mic’d Up,” led by Howard Webb of Professional Game Match Officials Limited.

The Onana incident’s audio is particularly interesting. In the closing minutes at Old Trafford, a high ball entered the hosts’ area. Onana attempted to challenge for it but missed, colliding with Wolves’ striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

Both Kalajdzic and Craig Dawson jumped for the ball, with Dawson ultimately making contact as Onana collided with the opposition striker.

Referee Simon Hooper awarded no penalty, and VAR Michael Salisbury affirmed his decision. Here’s how their conversation transpired.

    Hooper begins by saying:

“No way! It’s like collisions, we don’t give those…”

    The VAR responds:

“I want to view this because I think Onana collides with him. He’s trying to reach the ball but he’s late… and he blocks in. So the goalkeeper goes to challenge for the ball and he makes aerial contact with the Wolves player. It’s late and clumsy, in my opinion.”

The official then concedes that a very late aerial challenge was made but appears uncertain.

I think because the Wolves player doesn’t head the ball… yeah, because Dawson heads it… it’s a normal collision, as they’ve both challenged the ball. Yeah and therefore, it’s a normal collision because they’ve both challenged for the ball.”

Here is the full conversation of the incident:

    Teacher jailed for defiling 14-year-old

The Tarkwa circuit court sentenced a 20-year-old teacher named Jephtah Agyarko to 12 years of hard labor for defiling a student in his class.

Agyarko initially pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement during his first court appearance, and the presiding judge, Hathia Ama Manu, postponed the sentencing.

According to Chief Inspector Joseph Lartey, who was prosecuting the case, the complainant is a farmer residing in Tetrem, within the Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality, and she lives with her 14-year-old daughter, the victim. The convict, Agyarko, was the former class teacher of the victim and also attended the same church as the victim’s family.

On June 23, 2023, after school had ended for the day, the convict deliberately asked the victim if she planned to attend the watch night service, which their church was organizing for the same evening.

Chief Inspector Lartey explained that the victim, out of ignorance, informed Agyarko that she wouldn’t be attending but was certain that her parents would be present at the service.

Prosecution further detailed that on that same evening, at around 8:00 PM, the victim was alone at home when she heard a knock at the door. She went to answer it and was shocked to find the convict standing outside their main gate.

According to Chief Inspector Lartey, when the victim questioned the purpose of Agyarko’s presence in her house at such a late hour, he claimed to have come to visit someone in Tetrem and decided to check on her.

Taking advantage of the situation, Agyarko was able to convince the victim to let him into their living room, where he forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with her.

Overwhelmed by fear of potential punishment from her parents, the victim chose not to disclose the incident to them and kept it a secret.

Chief Inspector Lartey explained that the victim, feeling upset and disappointed by Agyarko’s actions, attempted to convey her emotions through a letter. Unfortunately, the headmaster of the school got hold of this letter.

The court learned that on August 13, 2023, the headmaster, in collaboration with Agyarko, brought the matter to the attention of the victim’s parents.

On August 18, 2023, a formal report was made to the police, leading to the subsequent arrest of the accused. During the course of the investigation, Agyarko admitted to the offense in his statement, as confirmed by Chief Inspector Lartey.
