Flashback: ‘You are lucky you have me as President’ – Akufo Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asserted that he represents the best choice for Ghanaians, despite facing harsh criticism from members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and certain civil society organizations who have accused him of ineffectiveness and lack of competence.

“You are lucky you have me as president”, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said.

The President declared this stance while censuring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for overlooking specific regions of the country when they hold political office.

Speaking to Chiefs and people during his tour to the Upper West and Savannah regions over this week, Nana Akufo Addo wondered why the Yapei-Kusawgu District was still underdeveloped even though they keep voting for the opposition party NDC.

“One of the things that surprise me and I have to confess, we have to speak the truth to each other; that Yapei – Kusawgu since 1992, I have known two people who have been Members of Parliament, the first one was my very good friend Amadu Seidu, when he left, the elder brother who is an excellent young man who is a minister for Natural Resources and MP for Damango, Abu Jinapor his elder brother John then took over the MP for Yapei – Kusawgu,” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo told Chiefs and people of Yapei – Kusawgu.

“What this tells me is that the 8 elections conducted in Ghana since 1992 have always gone to the National Democratic Congress and yet when I come here, I hear all of these demands. The young man who for a long time was Deputy Minister of power, 17 communities in his district still have not been connected to electricity grid”, he added.

However, assuring the Chiefs and people gathered at the function, President Akufo-Addo hinted that, he is going to heed their cry because he is the best Ghanaians can have.

“But Yagbonwura, you are lucky, you have me as the President of Ghana. I’m going to do it for you. In the same way, no secondary school, no Senior Technical School, in the whole of Kusawgu area, ahhh, eiiiiiii”, he wondered.

“Yagbonwura I’m not here in a campaign, but I think I have said enough for you and your people Kusawgu to think about your vote in 2024”, he added.

  • 6 bad habits draining your electricity

6 bad habits draining your electricity

Here are six bad habits around the house that can drain your electricity and increase your energy bills:

    1. Leaving Lights On: Failing to turn off lights when leaving a room is a common energy-wasting habit. Install energy-efficient LED bulbs and make it a habit to switch off lights when not needed.
    2. Leaving Electronics in Standby: Many appliances and devices consume energy even when turned off but left in standby mode. Unplug chargers, TVs, and other electronics or use smart power strips to cut off power completely.
    3. Neglecting Air Leaks: Poorly sealed doors and windows allow heat to escape in winter and cool air to seep out in summer. Seal gaps and cracks to reduce the need for heating and cooling.
    4. Running Appliances at Peak Times: Using high-energy appliances like washing machines and dishwashers during peak hours can lead to higher energy costs. Use these appliances during off-peak hours or consider energy-efficient models.
    5. Ignoring Thermostat Settings: Keeping your thermostat too high in winter or too low in summer can increase energy usage. Use a programmable thermostat to adjust temperatures based on your schedule and preferences.
    6. Overloading Electrical Outlets: Plugging too many devices into a single outlet can overload circuits and increase the risk of electrical fires. Distribute devices across multiple outlets and avoid using extension cords whenever possible.

By breaking these bad habits and adopting energy-efficient practices, you can reduce your electricity consumption, save money on energy bills, and contribute to a more sustainable environment.

So far a former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bugri Naabu, COP Alex Mensah and Superintendent George Asare have appeared before the panel.

During his appearance before the committee on Monday, September 4, 2023, Supt Asare declined making any public comments about the performance of the IGP, despite making startling claims about the IGP in the recording that has sent shockwaves across the country.

“Honorable chair, as humble and obedient servant as I am, who am I to sit in public and comment about the performance of my IGP or the police administration? I can never pass comments in public like that,” he said.

42-year-old man detained on assault charges following alleged headbutt to Roy Keane

A man who is 42 years old has been taken into custody because he is suspected of attacking Roy Keane by headbutting him during Arsenal’s victory against Manchester United on Sunday.

Videos from inside the Emirates Stadium appeared soon after the Gunners’ 3-1 win, showing Micah Richards from Sky Sports holding a fan against a wall during a heated argument.

Both pundits left the main television studio and were heading towards the pitch-side to give their post-match analysis as the match was ending.

They were standing at the fancy Highbury Bar, which is only for special members, waiting for a ride. Alejandro Garnacho thought he had made a goal for United to win, but it was not counted because VAR said he was offside.

Richards and Keane were heading back to the Sky Sports studio to watch replays when something happened. The Daily Mail said that someone headbutted Keane, hitting him on the chest and chin.

A video that many people shared on social media showed what happened right after the incident. In the video, Richards was struggling with the person who supposedly attacked them. He was pushing and holding the person back, while Keane, who was very angry, stood just behind him.

The experts asked for protection but had to go quickly to the field before the game ended and the fan ran away in a group of people.
The police have been watching recordings from security cameras, with the help of Arsenal, to find a supporter and they have now taken a 42-year-old man into custody.

The Metropolitan Police said that they are looking into an incident that happened at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, September 3rd. In this incident, a man was attacked.

On Monday, September 4th, a 42-year-old man was taken into custody for possibly attacking someone and causing harm. The police have arrested the man. The investigation is still happening.

Both Richards and Keane have not talked about the incident yet and they did not show or say that anything had happened when they talked about the game after it ended.

The Sun reported that both people were really scared by the argument, and Sky Sports plans to increase their security in the future.

Gary Lineker, who is on the show Match of the Day and also records a podcast with Richards, gave an update on his colleague’s health. He went on social media platform X, which used to be called Twitter, and said that the former Manchester City defender is okay.

  • Matthew Hedges: Foreign Office apologises to British national who was tortured in UAE

Matthew Hedges: Foreign Office apologises to British national who was tortured in UAE

The UK government apologized to a British scholar who was falsely accused of espionage and mistreated in the United Arab Emirates.

Matthew Hedges consistently maintained his innocence regarding the allegations against him. He explained that he was doing research for his PhD at Durham University.
The Foreign Office (FDCO) acknowledged that he and his family had a very upsetting experience.

Dr Hedges, who lives in Exeter, said that he was very happy to receive an apology, which he referred to as an important turning point.

He had complained before to a person who helps resolve problems in the government. This person started an investigation into how the FDCO handled his situation.

The court decided that the FDCO did not do a good job of keeping the academic safe and they should give him £1,500 as payment for what happened.
In2018,Dr. Hedges was in Abu Dhabi when he was accused of being a spy for MI6 and working for the UK government.

The UAE officials said they found evidence on his computer that showed he was working as a spy.

He was given a lifetime in prison, but the president of the country later forgave him.

Dr Hedges said that he was kept in handcuffs and alone in a small room, asked many questions for a longtime, and given various types of medications.

He said that what he went through had caused him to have post traumatic stress disorder and not being able to sleep.

    Review of cases involving torture

On Monday, the FDCO acknowledged that Mr Hedges and his family had a very upsetting experience that had a strong effect on them.

“We agree with the ombudsman’s conclusion in Mr. Hedges’ case, and we apologize. We will also give the compensation that was suggested,” the statement said.

An investigation has started to examine the rules on how to handle cases of torture and mistreatment, and consular staff are receiving training.

Officials will also check how the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FDCO) helps British citizens who get arrested or are in prison in other countries.

The statement means that we want to do what is best for each person, and it is not okay to report torture or mistreatment without their permission because it can be dangerous.

Dr Hedges, who posted on social media, was happy about the apology and said it had been a difficult journey to get to this point.

“He said that the recognition from the FDCO about the torture and unfair treatment I experienced in the UAE is a significant moment, not only for me and my family, but for all British people. ”

The FCDO did not fulfill their responsibilities to a citizen, and I really hope that the many other British people who are currently being held and tortured will benefit from the FCDO’s promise to reevaluate their old and inadequate policies.

I’m sorry, but I still have a criminal record for spying for the British Government, and the apology doesn’t change that.

He said it was confusing that the UK still works with the UAE, even though they are unkind to British people.

“He added that the FCDO should do more to convince the UAE to prove my innocence because they have a strong relationship. ”

“I will keep fighting for people who have not been lucky to be set free or who have been unfairly accused of ridiculous things. Today, I am happy that the FCDO has agreed to do more to safeguard and assist British citizens. ”

  • “I struggled to find a place to sleep” – Sandia Ababio recounts hustling days

“I struggled to find a place to sleep” – Sandia Ababio recounts hustling days

Ghanaian actress Sandra Ababio became emotional during her appearance on The Delay Show as she recounted her family’s harrowing experiences with extreme poverty. She bravely shared that she was born into these dire circumstances.

The renowned actress, reflecting on her early years, revealed that she was raised in conditions of severe deprivation right from her birth. She described how her family frequently grappled with the challenges of finding shelter and ensuring they had enough food to sustain themselves.

“I was born at Lapaz. Growing up hasn’t been easy,” she said in the interview with Delay. “We were born into poverty. I came from a family where you wouldn’t even know where your next meal is coming from.”

According to Sandra, her father “was not gainfully employed” while her mother “was a trader”.

“We sold foodstuff, clothes and other things to survive. We moved to Fadama and where to stay was problematic,” she added, recalling how she shared a single room with her parents and three other siblings.

Sandra explained that her family’s journey led them to move from one place to another within Accra, starting in Lapaz and then moving to Fadama, Akweteyman, Taifa, and finally to Dome. Each of these new locations brought its own set of challenges and hardships for her family to confront.

“We were ejected from where we lived at Taifa so a friend of my father, now late, who was a pastor accepted us into where his church was,” Sandra recounted. “It was a wooden structure and we slept on the benches.”

She thought she was somewhere between five and seven years old when the move took place. Sandra found it difficult to remain composed as she continued to talk about how her family had to struggle.

“Sometimes, when it rained, they would stand and hold my younger siblings because if you slept…,” she said, pausing in her narrative as she began to whimper until she found her voice. “Sometimes, they had to stand so we, the children, could lie on the bench.”

In addition to the lack of a stable and comfortable place to live, Sandra revealed that the depth of poverty forced her into a situation where she had no alternative but to walk to school.

“From there, we went to Dome and I was still schooling at Taifa. We walked from Dome to Taifa Burkina to school till I completed,” she said.

After enduring significant hardships, Sandra’s life has taken a turn for the better, and she now enjoys a comfortable lifestyle. She reminisced about her father seizing an opportunity to relocate from Ghana to the United States of America, where he secured a job at XFM. This marked the beginning of a transformative phase in her life, even though her stay in the U.S. was relatively brief. She made her debut movie in Nigeria at the age of 26.

Bugri Naabu called me 12 times, I didn’t know there was any malice intended – Supt Asare

A baffling and captivating narrative has emerged from the ongoing probe into the alleged leaked plot to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, as the third witness in the probe has shed more light on a series of events that took place prior to the recording of the audio.

Supt George Asare has revealed that he received twelve consecutive phone calls from the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Bugri Naabu. He noted that, while it was unusual, he didn’t suspect any ill intent.

“On the 19th of June Bugri Naabu at 2:13, Bugri Naabu called me twelve consecutive times (and when I finally answered) he told me there’s good news so I should do my best and come with COP. The last call was at 5:57, and for more than 3 hours, he still wanted to see me. I never knew there was any malice intended,” he recalled.

Narrating the events, he recalled that prior to these calls, he had previously had an engagement with Bugri Naabu who is also a chief.

He mentioned that Bugri Naabu had called once, requesting to meet him for a discussion. Upon receiving the request, he agreed to the meeting.

It was during this meeting that Bugri Naabu informed him that a new Inspector General of Police (IGP) is being sought.

“And he asked me if I had anyone in mind to recommend and I told him of course, yes, so he asked me who that person was and I mentioned COP Alex Mensah, and I also made him know about his credentials and how he’s highly respected among the rank and file of the police,” he explained.

According to him, Bugri Naabu acknowledged knowing COP Mensah and said he had even been to his house at Dansoman.

Later, he said Bugri Naabu called him, invited him and asked for his opinion on the performance of the IGP.

“… I went there, met them (Bugri Naabu and COP Mensah), they were already talking and they asked me what my opinion on the performance of the IGP was and I gave them my opinion,” he told the committee.

Barry Dean, a 76-year-old man who used to work in construction and is now retired, lives at the place where the man was arrested. He explained that a part of his house got badly damaged and needs to be rebuilt.

This means there are some cracks on the front door of Mr. Dean’s
He remembered that a black Mercedes car made a very loud noise when it hit and crashed into the property.

He said: ‘I was just sitting in the room, watching football on TV, and suddenly at eight o’clock, there was a loud noise. ‘

Since the front door was locked, I had to go and get my keys. I opened the door in the front of the house, stepped outside and found that the driver had already left and ran away.

The police arrived. They flew a small robot in the air. At the same time, there was a big flying machine and dogs used by the police.

Mr Dean said that he thought the man was caught outside a nearby apartment building.
West Midlands Police have shared sad news about the deaths of some people and informed that someone has been arrested. They express their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and assure them that they will provide support during this difficult time.

‘We are not searching for anyone else related to what happened, and based on the information we have, it is not considered a terrorist incident. ‘

  • ‘Pirate Olaf’ Scholz, chancellor, hurt while jogging

‘Pirate Olaf’ Scholz, chancellor, hurt while jogging

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, shared a picture of himself wearing an eye patch because he got hurt while running.

The accident happened on Saturday close to his house in Potsdam, which is near Berlin.

He decided to cancel the local election events on Sunday because of the accident. However, he will still attend his planned activities, such as giving many speeches to the public in the next few days.

In a message on X, previously known as Twitter, he said that something appears to be more negative than it actually is.

The person had a minor fall, but the picture shows some injuries around the eye, as well as on the nose and chin.

His representative said the leader was feeling positive but appeared tired or exhausted. They also mentioned that Mr. Scholz shared the picture so that people could become accustomed to his appearance in the upcoming weeks.

In the message about X, he mentioned that he was excited to see the funny pictures or videos.

Some people on social media made jokes about how the injuries were related to fights among the government group. The website for the city of Cologne, where a big carnival happens every year, suggested that people could dress up as “Pirate Olaf” for the carnival next year.

Based on the many positive comments online, it seems that German voters really like Chancellor Scholz’s new pirate image. Or perhaps they were just happily surprised by a public relations success from a leader who is often viewed as not very good at communicating in Germany.

In a survey conducted by public TV station ZDF in August, 72% of people said that Mr Scholz tended to avoid directly answering questions more than other politicians. In another survey by ZDF in August, more than half (51%) of the voters were not happy with him, while only 43% were satisfied.

These ratings for a German chancellor are not very good.

He tends to say the same things over and over again and his way of making decisions is to do it secretly and then tell everyone what he decided. Critics think that he seems confident in a way that can make people feel like he’s not very approachable or easy to understand. They also think that compared to others who are good at using the media, he comes across as stiff and out-of-touch with modern ways.

ButScholz’s main problem is that he is in charge of a government made up of three different parties, each with their own goals and beliefs. This group is having a hard time because of many problems, like rising prices and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The group he works with wants to make big changes in Germany. People who support him say that in the last two years, Mr. Scholz’s government has made more changes than Angela Merkel did in 16 years. However, the business-friendly low-tax liberal Free Democrat Party (FDP) often gets into conflicts with the left-leaning Greens.

He often disagrees with many people in his own center-left Social Democrat Party (SDP), which believes in more government spending than Mr. Scholz, a centrist who used to be in charge of finances. The inside disagreements make voters angry and have caused a decrease in support.

Based on a recent survey, if an election were to take place now, the government would only receive 38% of the vote, which means they would not have the majority. The SPD party, led by the chancellor, has had a significant drop in popularity. They now only have 18% support in the polls, which is very bad for a party that used to get 40% in elections.

MrScholz can find some comfort knowing that voters are not choosing the opposition conservatives. His main rival for the highest position in Germany, Friedrich Merz, who is a conservative leader, is even more disliked by people.

With the current gloomy atmosphere in German politics, voters are likely thankful for any small moment of amusement that shows Olaf Scholz has a sense of humor.

  • Kenya considering traveling without visa – Ruto

Kenya considering traveling without visa – Ruto

Kenya’s President, William Ruto, has expressed interest in getting rid of the need for visas in the country.

Mr Ruto said that Kenya was where humans first started, so it wasn’t right to make visitors get visas because they were returning to their “home”.

Not far from where you are right now, scientists found and marked the oldest human remains ever discovered. Basically, this is where humans first started. So, let me greet you and say welcome back to your home. We are thinking about getting rid of the need for visas in a few months. Asking people to have visas when they come back home is not fair. Ruto said this on Monday at the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, where African and international leaders and delegates were gathered.

Since Ruto became president in September 2022, he has removed visa restrictions for some countries like Eritrea, Djibouti, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Indonesia.

President Ruto said before that he wants to remove the rules that make it hard for people from all countries in the African Union to visit.

Agradaa reveals how she infected Owusu Bempah with HIV

The controversial religious figure Nana Agradaa has made a startling revelation about her alleged behaviour towards her sworn enemy, Prophet Owusu Bempah. Agradaa claimed that she deliberately infected Owusu Bempah with 16 gallons of HIV/AIDS.

According to her account in a self-recorded video, Agradaa asserted that she transmitted the infection while treating a sore on Owusu Bempah’s leg. She stated that, during the course of her treatment, she decided to infect him with malicious intent.

Some months ago, it was reported that Owusu Bempah had provided Nana Agradaa with a certain sum of money to target Naana Brown. In a recent video shared on social media, Nana Agradaa aimed to expose Owusu Bempah for financially engaging her in this ongoing dispute.

Naana Brown and her husband had been considered proteges of Owusu Bempah, assisting him in his battles against adversaries. As a gesture of gratitude, Owusu Bempah had even gifted them a car at one point. However, their relationship soured, leading to a rift in which Owusu Bempah sought to reclaim the vehicle.

Feeling betrayed, Naana Brown consistently launched verbal attacks on Bempah, who refrained from responding in kind. In her live video, the former fetish priestess, now posing as a religious leader, disclosed these details and played alleged audio recordings of Owusu Bempah acknowledging his financial contributions to her efforts. Agradaa claimed to have received $1,000 for her services in supporting Owusu Bempah against Naana Brown.

  • Zelensky declares significant changes to Ukraine’s defence as forces cross Russian lines

Zelensky declares significant changes to Ukraine’s defence as forces cross Russian lines

Volodymyr Zelensky plans to fire his defense minister, which is a significant change in Ukraine’s government during the war.

Today, the Ukrainian president spoke during the night and said it’s important to have new ways of thinking in the defence ministry.

Oleksii Reznikov’s future has been uncertain for a while due to accusations of corrupt activities in his department. He was mentioned in a top post in November 2021.

Kyiv officials are looking into the department’s financial records, but Reznikov is not directly involved in these investigations.

Zelensky sent a message on Telegram saying that Reznikov will be replaced by Rusten Umerov.

Umerov is the person in charge of selling things that belong to Ukraine’s government.
Zelensky said that Oleksii Reznikov has experienced more than 550 days of intense, all-encompassing war.

I think the ministry should try new ways of working and communicating with the military and society.

Ukraine’s parliament, called Verkhovna Rada, needs to agree on the new choice for defense minister.

Zelensky said that the lawmakers know this person and he expects them to approve his request.

‘Fall is a time to become stronger,’ he said. ‘Hooray for Ukraine. ‘

Reznikov, one of the important officials who stayed in the capital when Russian forces blocked it during the beginning of the war, has not spoken about the change publicly.

Ukrainian generals and US officials said on Friday that Ukrainian forces successfully broke through a strong defense line in the southern part of Russia.

According to Brig Gen Oleksandr Tarnavski, the Kyiv forces have successfully broken through Russia’s defensive lines near Zaporizhzhia.

“He said that we are currently positioned in the area between the first and second lines of defense. ”

‘We are currently finishing off the enemy troops in the middle of the attack. They were protecting the Russian soldiers who are trying to escape and regroup behind their second line of defense. ’

After fighting for several weeks, Ukraine captured the village of Robotyne in the southeast on Monday. This is part of their ongoing efforts to push back against the enemy and make progress in the war.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence is currently being investigated by the government in two separate inquiries regarding making money from war.
This means that the ministry buys military food like eggs or canned beans at much higher prices than normal, like when they signed a contract that cost 13 billion hryvnias (£280,000,000).

According to a report by the Ukrainian news website ZN. UA, the defense ministry purchased eggs for 17 hryvnias each, which is much higher than the normal price of seven hryvnias per egg in Ukraine.

Deputy defense minister Vyacheslav Shapovalov, who was in charge of helping the army with supplies and organization, quit in January after the scandal happened.

Reznikov said that the increased prices were a mistake made by the contractor, and he believed that the investigation was just a way to manipulate the situation.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) previously announced in January, but later removed, that they caught another deputy minister allegedly accepting a bribe of $400,000 for overpriced electrical generators.

  • Nigerians angry over Headies Awards 2023 held in the United States instead of Nigeria

Nigerians angry over Headies Awards 2023 held in the United States instead of Nigeria

Nigerians have voiced their displeasure on social media, that the Headies Awards, the largest music awards show in the nation, were held in the United States rather than their home country.

For the second consecutive year, the 16th annual Headies Awards were held on September 3, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since its inception in 2006, the event has been held annually in Lagos, Nigeria. It has now been relocated to the United States.

Rema, a Nigerian star, won four trophies for Best Male Artist, Digital Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Pop Single at the event’s conclusion in 2023, making him the biggest winner.

Asake and Burna Boy each received two trophies.

The Best West African Act award went to the popular Ghanaian musician Black Sherif instead of his contemporaries Camidoh and Gyakie.

Nevertheless, some Nigerians have questioned why the awards ceremony was held in the US rather than its native Nigeria, despite the noteworthy achievements.

Some of these critics asserted that there was an effort to cover up the scheme, while others charged that the organisers were making an attempt to win over the international community.

  • Russia pushes North Korea to participate in ‘three-way war exercises with China’

Russia pushes North Korea to participate in ‘three-way war exercises with China’

Vladimir Putin‘s government suggested having joint naval exercises with Russia, China, and North Korea.

Russia and North Korea’s relationship has gotten stronger since Russia invaded Ukraine, but they have not yet done military exercises together.

There was talk that this could happen after Russia’s ambassador to Pyeongyang said to Russian media last week that joint exercises ‘seem right’.

A member of parliament from South Korea who was at a private meeting with the country’s spy agency mentioned that the topic was brought up.

The head of the agency, Kim Kyou-hyun, reportedly said that the Russian defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, probably suggested doing group navy exercises involving three countries during a meeting with Kim Jong-un in July.

On Monday, Shoigu spoke to reporters and said that Russia was thinking about doing the exercises, but he didn’t say whether he had suggested them or not.

He said: ‘We talk about this with everyone, even North Korea. Why not These people live next to us. Of course, we are talking about it.
‘We are currently doing exercises with our Chinese colleagues, and we are also doing patrols together with strategic bombers from our naval units. ‘

In July, there was a visit to remember and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean war.

At that time, Shoigu promised to make the military relationship with North Korea stronger because they have a border and have worked together in the past.

He also went with an important Chinese Communist Party member to a military parade in North Korea.
It was seen as a demonstration that Russia and China are working together in their military activities. This comes after many reports that China is worried about the war in Ukraine.

According to recent reports from US intelligence, Putin himself has sent a letter to Kim Jong-un, requesting more weapons to be used against Ukraine.

  • Madrid in lockdown due to ‘red alert’ flooding

Madrid in lockdown due to ‘red alert’ flooding

Due to the anticipation of heavy rain and storms, Madrid residents, residing in the capital of Spain, have received advice to remain indoors.

Spain’s official weather agency, AEMET, gave a very serious warning, called a red alert, which means there could be extreme danger. This warning is for the Madrid region, Toledo province, and the city of Cadiz.

The agency said that in Madrid, there could be as much as 120 liters of rain per square meter in a 12-hour period.

Additionally, the emergency services sent texts to people in the capital city to warn them about the dangers and tell them it is not safe to drive cars.

The mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, posted a message on social media asking the people of Madrid to stay at home today because there will be very heavy rain which is unusual and could break records.

Officials said they were “hoping for a good result” after a father and son disappeared during the flooding.

Javier Chivite, the person who speaks for the emergency services in the area, said: ‘Two people are gone, a dad and his son. They were in a car that got trapped in a rush of water from the Alberche river, which caused an avalanche. ‘

‘We expect that this will result in something good. ‘

The LaLiga canceled a night game between Atletico Madrid and Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid because of an emergency.
In just the city of Madrid, firefighters have been asked to handle flooding 190 times.

The floods in Madrid also caused problems for the Metro system. Train lines between Madrid and Valencia were stopped.

In Alcanar, a place in Tarragona, located on Spain’s east coast, the authorities have asked people to stay inside their houses because of heavy rain. 215 liters of rain per square meter fell in the past day, causing flooding in the area.
In the eastern province of Castelló, there was a lot of water from heavy rains. Firefighters had to save a man who was stuck in his car because the water was up to his waist. The BBC told the story.

Some roads in Madrid were blocked and a few bridges were destroyed by rivers that were overflowing and moving quickly, according to the Independent.

Mr Martinez-Almeida said he believes there will be a lot of rain in Madrid, which is very unusual. It may even break the previous record from 1972.

After a period of very hot weather in August, Spain is now experiencing heavy rain. The highest temperature ever recorded in the Andalusia region during the heatwave was 47. 2°C

Spain’s weather agency said that in the past 10 years, they have seen 24 heatwaves. This is twice as many as what they had in each of the previous three decades.

Manchester United player jams to Atumpan’s ‘The Thing’ song

Former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard has been seen enjoying a once-popular Ghanaian track by Atumpan.

“The Thing” track was blasting in the player’s car as he sang its chorus in a joyous mood, according to a video posted on his Instagram stories recently.

The video, which has been reposted on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, has sparked diverse reactions. Some people are drawing connections between the video and Jesse Lingard’s recent encounter with another Ghanaian artist.

Last week, Gyakie, posted a photo with the winger on Twitter with the hashtag #selfiewiththeplayer.

Some Ghanaians have responded to the tweet after apparently being taken aback by the image. Gyakie is currently working on her upcoming album; she is primarily based in the UK.

Over the weekend, she performed at the Hype Fest event in Germany, which featured Ghanaian hip-pop star Black Sherif as the headlining act.

Lingard, meanwhile, is a free agent after being cut loose by Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 season.

The winger attracted significant interest from a few Major League Soccer teams, but no formal bids were made because he is currently without a club.

  • Ukraine alleges Russian drone exploded on NATO territory despite ‘categorical denial’

Ukraine says that a Russian drone purposely attacked an area belonging to Nato and EU member country Romania.

Romania’s defense ministry strongly rejected the reports and condemned the unfair attack on Ukrainian port facilities on the Danube river.

If what Kyiv says is proven to be true, this could be a big change in the war Russia has been fighting in Ukraine for the past year and a half.

NATO has a promise to help each other if any member gets attacked.

According to Ukraine’s border guard service, a big Russian attack happened near the port of Izmail last night. Russian rockets fell and exploded on Romania’s territory. Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko shared this information on Facebook.

This new information confirms that Russia’s missile threat is a big danger to Ukraine and nearby countries, including Nato members.

Romania says that Russian drones did not land in their country.
Nikolenko shared a picture of a big fire on the other side of the Danube River.

This is the line that separates Ukraine’s Odesa region from Romania’s territory, and in certain places, the distance between the two sides is just a short distance of a few hundred meters.

The president’s main staff member said it is very important to get more modern defense weapons to stop Russia from using drones and missiles.

Andriy Yermak said on Telegram that Ukraine needs more weapons and missiles that can be shot from far away to help reclaim our territories faster.

Russia needs to be beaten in a war.

In simpler terms, Romania is keeping an eye on the situation. They mentioned that Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure have not directly threatened Romania’s land or territorial water.

In the past, drone attacks have come very close to the shores of Romania.

In late July, a video captured an assault on a grain storage facility in the town of Reni, Romania. The attack caused a bright glow in the sky.

President Klaus Iohannis said that this is a big problem for the safety of the Black Sea.

  • Hugh Jackman eats substantial food at Nigerian eatery in London

Hugh Jackman eats substantial food at Nigerian eatery in London

Hugh Jackman recently became a big fan of Nigerian food after visiting a popular restaurant chain over the weekend.

The popular Australian actor, famous for his role as Wolverine in the Marvel movies, is now in London to shoot the next Deadpool movie. However, the production of the film has temporarily stopped because of the Sag-Aftra actors’ strike.

Hugh, who is 54 years old, is currently not busy with work. He is enjoying his time in the UK and recently decided to eat delicious food at a Nigerian restaurant called Enish.

The famous actor surprised the employees and customers at a restaurant on Oxford Street. His children suggested the restaurant to him.

A representative from the restaurant said that he went there over the weekend with his friends and they ordered a variety of dishes, including BBQ chicken for their appetizer.

For the main course, they had different dishes like jollof rice cooked with stockfish, yam porridge served with chicken, jollof rice with fresh fish, Ogbona soup accompanied by pounded yam and fried fish. They had Coke, Nigerian Fanta, and a big glass of Merlot to drink.

Yes, it’s true, Hugh tasted Nigerian Fanta and definitely enjoyed it.

The spokesperson said that it was the person’s first time trying Nigerian food. Their kids suggested that they go to that place. He liked his food and we saw him moving to the Afrobeats music in the restaurant.

‘He was a nice and friendly customer to have in the restaurant. ‘

Hugh made himself inconspicuous by wearing a cap and dressing casually in a T-shirt and jeans. But, he gladly showed his face and smiled for a picture that was shared on the Enish Instagram account.

In simple words, they wrote in the caption: ‘Hugh Jackman visited our Enish Oxford St branch this weekend and enjoyed some traditional Nigerian food. ‘

Enish’s fans really liked that Hugh enjoyed the food from West Africa. Some even called it “awesome” and one person said they love Hugh Jackman.

Another person on Instagram made a joke about someone needing to recharge themselves by eating fufu.

Now that Hugh likes the restaurant, there are many other places he can go to because the restaurant has branches in Brixton, Croydon, Finchley, and even Dubai. Additionally, a new store will be opening in Covent Garden on September 14th.

Enish, a company started by Olushola and Eniola Medupin in 2013, is now valued at £10 million.

Hugh has been seen at other restaurants besides Enish. In July, he went to The Waffle House in Norwich and had a big and indulgent meal.
Hugh ordered a normal milkshake with cream on top and banana waffles. However, his main meal was unusual. Hugh chose waffles covered in cheese, mushrooms, and what seemed to be ground meat.

He wrote with his post: ‘I am enjoying a special meal just for myself. Oops I didn’t give any to others. ‘ “I don’t feel apologetic. ”

The actor from Les Miserables has a lot of free time because the filming for Deadpool 3, in which he acts alongside Ryan Reynolds, got delayed because of a strike among actors in Hollywood.

Ryan and Rob, who are famous actors, were spotted hanging out with local people at a football match of Wrexham FC last month. Ryan was able to get tickets because he is one of the owners of the Welsh football team, along with Rob McElhenney.

Marvel fans are excitedly waiting for Hugh to come back as Wolverine. He last portrayed the character in the movie Logan from 2017.

  • Plot to oust IGP: Be very careful – Atta Akyea warns Supt Asare at Committee hearing

Plot to oust IGP: Be very careful – Atta Akyea warns Supt Asare at Committee hearing

Tensions nearly ran high at the recent Adhoc Committee meeting, where Chairman of the Committee, Samuel Atta Akyea, issued a stern and cryptic warning to Superintendent George Asare who was responding to questions when he appeared before the Committee.

The meeting, convened to probe the alleged leaked plot to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, took an unexpected twist when Atta Akyea, known for his composed and deliberate demeanor, leaned in and uttered the words, “Be very careful,” directly to Superintendent Asare.

Mr Atta-Akyea’s remark was triggered by an engagement between a member of the committee, Honourable Eric Opoku, and Supt Asare. Hon Opoku had directed Supt Asare’s attention to certain statements attributed to him on the tape and was seeking clarification regarding them.

One of the statements pertained to a reference made by Supt Asare to an individual known as ‘Area Mama’ in the audio recording.

He is quoted to have said: “Today, I was with Nana Addo’s niece, you know area Mama? She said everybody has put the blame on Bediatuo,” and was asked to confirm if the claim was made by him.

However, responding to questions at the committee, he noted that the comment was a hearsay and that he was eavesdropping on a conversation which involved the said area Mama.

Subsequently, he was directed to a statement in which he implicated an individual named Bediatuo, who was mentioned in the audio, as being responsible for the difficulties faced by officers in the service.

He is quoted to have said: “Bediatuo and the man (IGP) are ‘like this.’ He is the cause of all the problems. So, Alhaji wants to hear something good. The Commissioner is here, and he is the one, as I’ve already told you, every policeman…” and was asked by Hon Opoku to confirm. But in response, he said he wished to remain silent on that.

It was at this point that Chairman Mr Atta Akyea cautioned Supt. Asare, advising him to exercise utmost care in his statement to avoid disassociating himself from the remarks made in the audio, as doing so could have implications for him.

“Supt. Asare please with the greatest of respect, he’s merely bringing to the fore what is on the tape so if you confirm what is on the tape, say so, but to dilate on it, ‘I might want to do it in camera,’ but immediately you distance yourself from what’s on the tape, hmmmm, the difference is very thin but be careful, be very very careful,” Mr Akyea said.

Boy, 15, confesses to stabbing Tewkesbury hero teacher in school hallway

A teacher at school narrowly escaped harm after a young individual confessed to attempting to stab them.

The 15-year-old, whose name cannot be revealed because he is underage, confessed to the accusation at the beginning of a two-day trial at Bristol Magistrates’ Court.

The person who is being accused admitted that they were guilty of having a dangerous weapon.

Sending him to a youth detention center, judge Lynne Matthews said, “We need to learn more about you. ” The court needs to listen to ideas from the team who works with young people who commit crimes.

I don’t know what you’re going to say, so I won’t make any guesses.

You will be told what your punishment is on September 28. You will have to stay in custody until September 28th, which means you won’t be able to go back home.

Tewkesbury Academy, a school in Gloucestershire, had an incident on July 10 where a lockdown was put in place and the police were summoned.

Two schools close to each other were told to quickly take action and lock their doors, while police officers arrived.

At the same time, a group of scared parents were instructed to wait for more information at a garden center close by.

Teacher Jamie Sansom was stabbed one time in the hallway of the school.

He left the hospital on the same day and mentioned that he was recovering well.

There were reports saying that he had gotten involved in a fight between students when the incident occurred, but he later said that this was not true.

Mr Sansom has been a math teacher at Tewkesbury Academy since 2017.

After what happened, many people in the local community sent him many messages to show that they were there for him and cared about him.

Growth ‘with dignity’ the focus of Africa Climate Summit

Wanjira Mathai, an environmental campaigner, said that the current Africa climate summit in Nairobi is a very important moment for Africa to stand together and take big steps towards a better future.

Ms Mathai, the daughter of Prof Wangari Mathai who won the Nobel Peace Prize, is saying that Africa is showing leadership by finding solutions to its problems. Africa has lots of renewable energy, important minerals, and a young workforce that is growing quickly.

But she said on the BBC’s Newsday show that we cannot adjust to extreme poverty. This needs to be about economic growth that is focused on reducing carbon emissions, being environmentally sustainable, and including everyone in the process.

She said that she wants to see a strong effort for fair and equal access to global markets for products made with clean energy in Africa.

Furthermore, she mentioned that African countries need to have “fair and equal opportunities to obtain financial resources”.

This is one of the most important things that people want. The global financial system is unfair to Africa, as Africa has to pay eight times more for financial services compared to the rest of the world. “I think that finance is very important, just like technology and knowledge,” she said.

  • Gunmen kill football player for Panama national team in Colón city

Gunmen kill football player for Panama national team in Colón city

A football player from Panama‘s national team was killed by a gunshot in Colón city.

Gunmen shot at a group of people, including a 26-year-old named Gilberto Hernández, who were gathered in a building in the city.

Hernández passed away and seven other people got hurt in the attack.

We don’t know yet if the footballer, who also played for Club Atlético Independiente, was the intended person of the shooting or why it happened.

In the past few months, there have been more murders in Colón. This is because two gangs are fighting each other to control profitable drug smuggling routes.

Up until now, over 50 people have been killed in Colón, a city with 40,000 people, since the beginning of this year.

The port city, located at the northern entrance of the Panama Canal, is a place where cocaine is transported from South America through Panama to Europe.

The shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon at the local time.

Two gunmen made a taxi driver drive them to a building in a part of the city called Barrio Norte. Then they started shooting at the people who were all together in that place.

The people with guns ran away from the place where it happened.

Gilberto Hernández played his first game for Panama’s national team in March this year, in a match against Guatemala.

  • Niger restores access for commercial flights

Niger restores access for commercial flights

Government of Niger has said that they will allow civil and commercial flights to start again.

This happened after the leaders of a group called Ecowas said they might use power to take action after the coup on 26 July that removed President Mohammed Bazoum from his position.

The choice to allow planes to fly in the airspace doesn’t include military flights and other special flights. These types of flights need permission from the appropriate authorities. Niger says this.

However, there may still be limits on flights to the country because of the economic sanctions imposed by Ecowas.

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez marries mother of his child in prison

The convicted rapper and singer Tory Lanez’ has reportedly married Raina Chassagne, the mother of his six-year-old son Kai, while serving time for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. This was revealed while he was requesting bail.

The motion for bail was submitted by Lanez to the Superior Court of Los Angeles, according to legal journalist Meghann Cuniff’s report on Friday.

The 31-year-old Canadian rapper was given a 10-year prison term for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, as previously reported by Face2Face Africa. When Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion got into a fight after leaving a pool party held at reality star Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood mansion in July 2020, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, shot Megan Thee Stallion in the feet.

Since December, the 31-year-old has been detained in custody after being found guilty of three charges involving firearms. Lanez was found guilty of three felonies: assault with a semi-automatic weapon; possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a motor vehicle; and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm.

In the recently made public court documents, it is stated that Raina Chassagne is now Lanez’s wife and that, should he be granted bail, the two will remain together in Los Angeles with their 6-year-old son. If granted bail, Lanez would not have to travel far to live near his family.

“From his sentencing hearing engagement announcement to his bail motion wedding announcement, Tory Lanez’s relationship status has advanced rapidly in the last few weeks. His fiancée is now his wife, according to the motion,” Cuniff tweeted.

On September 5, a hearing will be held to go over Lanez’s motion for bail. According to court records, Chassagne was previously listed as the mother of the musician’s son but is now listed as his wife. However, it is unknown when they actually got married.

Cuniff in a different tweet also shared that Lanez would abstain from substances and not establish any contact with Megan if he’s granted bail. “Upon release, Mr. Peterson will maintain his sobriety, and have no contact with the victim nor shall he or any of his associates by his direction address her on social media or by other means,” Cuniff stated.

“Mr. Peterson is a well-known musician; abscond. He is a household name through his artistry and philanthropy.”

But, it seems like Lanez’s application for bail may face stiff opposition, according to Complex.

Cuniff’s lawyers said that it is unusual for judges to grant bail applications pending appeal.

It is especially challenging to enable Lanez’s bail because of the nature of his conviction.

“Generally, to get bail pending appeal, you have to show a substantial likelihood of prevailing on appeal, which often means a substantial likelihood you can show error by the trial judge,” attorney Michale Freedman told Cuniff in an email.

“So it’s pretty rare for the trial judge to find the defense can make this showing about the same judge’s own rulings, especially after the judge has already denied post-trial motions raising those same arguments.”

  • Leader of coup in Gabon promises free and fair elections, but no time frame

Leader of coup in Gabon promises free and fair elections, but no time frame

The leader of Gabon’s military junta has promised to give power back to regular people after “fair, clear” elections.

However, when he gave a speech after becoming the temporary president, he didn’t say when military rule would stop.

Gen Brice Nguema led a recent coup against Ali Bongo, removing him as president soon after he was declared the winner of a controversial election.

Many people who were excited for change came to the inauguration and cheered. They were happy about the coup.

But some people say that Gen Nguema’s rule will just be a continuation of the Bongo dynasty, which has been going on for 55 years.

Ali Bongo’s dad, Omar, ruled for 41 years until he passed away in 2009. Afterwards, his son took over.

The general worked closely with Ali Bongo for most of his career and it is believed that they are cousins.

During the inauguration on Monday, Gen Nguema gave a strong speech, mentioning influential figures like South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, French statesman Charles de Gaulle, and former Ghanaian leader Jerry Rawlings.

“The new president, wearing a special red outfit, said that this patriotic action will be a lesson that will be taught in our schools. ”

He said that a new government will be created soon and suggested new laws for elections, a new set of rules for punishment, and a public vote on a new constitution.

Gen Nguema also mentioned that he told the new government to quickly consider releasing all political prisoners.

The event was shown live on TV in Gabon and on the internet.

Ex-government ministers who used to work in the previous government came, but a group of people who support the current military rulers made loud disapproving sounds at them.

General Nguema’s inauguration is the most recent in a line of military takeovers happening in West and Central Africa.

Gabon is now being ruled by the military, making it the sixth French-speaking country to experience this in the past three years. This is happening because France, who used to control Gabon, is finding it difficult to keep its power and influence in Africa.

The African Union has stopped Gabon’s membership because of the coup. The United Nations and France have criticized the coup.

African climate summit taken over by the West – campaigners claim

Many people from different African countries are protesting the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi. They believe that the event has been taken over by big companies and governments from the Western world.

The organizers referred to the march as a “different meeting” compared to the main conference happening at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city.

They say that the plans for the summit have been taken over by companies, consultants, and organizations that support the West and are pushing their own interests.

We are here to show how strong people can be. Hardi Yakubu, from the African Rising Movement, said that what is happening at KICC is benefiting the large companies that are causing pollution.

In a letter to Kenya’s President William Ruto, more than 100 organizations and climate change groups from Africa and other countries asked African leaders to avoid “fake solutions like carbon markets, where rich countries can keep polluting. ”

Teresa Anderson, from the charity ActionAid, says that the formal summit created a space for corporations to show themselves as the solution to climate change, while leaving out the people who are actually affected.

They want to create a group of African experts to change the summit’s plan, center on renewable energy, encourage open conversations between citizens and policymakers, and make sure there is enough money for climate efforts.

Israelis detained in Cyprus on rape allegation

The foreign ministry of Israel said that six Israeli citizens have been arrested in Cyprus. They are suspected of sexually assaulting a British tourist.

The Israeli embassy was told about it and their consul is talking to the local authorities.

However, the police or the UK government have not confirmed yet.

But according to reports from media in Cyprus, a court has decided to hold five foreigners in custody while they investigate an alleged rape of a tourist in Ayia Napa.

Reuters news agency also reported that the tourist was identified by a police source as a British woman.

The woman told the police on Sunday evening that she was attacked at her hotel in Ayia Napa earlier that day.

According to the person who provided the information, the five people who were arrested for the reported rape were Israeli men, and their ages were 19 and 20.

Israeli lawyer Nir Yaslovitz, speaking to Channel 12 TV, said that the Cyprus police have a serious suspicion about something, but this is not the first time we have dealt with such cases. According to The Times of Israel newspaper. I want the truth to be revealed.

In 2019, a woman from Britain went to the police in Cyprus and said that she was forced to have sex by 12 Israeli men and boys in Ayia Napa.

Later on, she withdrew her claim after being detained without a lawyer. Then, she was put on trial and found guilty of causing trouble in public.

Last year, the Supreme Court in Cyprus overturned her conviction, which made women’s rights activists very angry.

7 benefits of applying neem leaves to your skin

Neem leaves offer numerous benefits for the skin due to their natural properties. Here are seven advantages of using neem leaves for skin:

    1. Acne Treatment: Neem leaves have strong anti-bacterial properties that can help combat acne-causing bacteria. They also reduce inflammation and redness associated with acne.
    2. Clears Scars and Pigmentation: Neem leaves contain compounds that help lighten scars and pigmentation marks, leaving your skin clearer and more even-toned.
    3. Moisturizes Skin: Neem leaves are rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids that moisturize and nourish the skin, preventing dryness and flakiness.
    4. Controls Excess Oil: Neem helps regulate the production of sebum (skin’s natural oil), making it an excellent choice for people with oily or combination skin.
    5. Anti-Aging: The antioxidants in neem leaves help fight free radicals, reducing the signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines.
    6. Treats Skin Infections: Neem has antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it effective against various skin infections like ringworm, athlete’s foot, and nail fungus.
    7. Soothes Irritated Skin: Neem leaves have soothing properties that can help relieve skin irritation and redness caused by conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Apply the paste to your skin, leave it on for about 15-20 minutes, and then rinse it off with water. However, as with any natural remedy, it’s a good idea to do a patch test to ensure you don’t have any adverse reactions before applying it to your face or body.

  • Best foods to eat in your 50s

Best foods to eat in your 50s

If you’re over 50 years old, you’ve likely noticed that food affects your body differently than it did in your younger years. While a nightly indulgence in ice cream used to be a delightful and harmless routine, you may now find that this habit has a more significant impact on your health or how you feel.

Your doctor may have advised you on eating habits that promote bone strength and regulate blood sugar, and there’s a good reason for that. As we age, our nutritional requirements change, and the adage “you are what you eat” becomes more pertinent than ever.

For women experiencing menopause, declining estrogen levels can lead to decreased bone mass, necessitating a higher intake of calcium-rich foods to fend off osteoporosis. Additionally, both women and men may experience reduced insulin production over time, resulting in blood sugar imbalances and the potential onset of Type 2 diabetes. Metabolism also tends to slow down, especially after reaching age 60, making calorie-heavy foods more likely to lead to weight gain. Given that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, adopting a heart-healthy diet is crucial.

Now, while this may sound a bit disheartening, there are certain foods that can help mitigate age-related health issues. Here, a geriatrician and registered dietitians share the top food choices for individuals over 50 to consider when grocery shopping:

    1. Flavourful herbs like parsley, saffron, or rosemary: Instead of relying on salt, which can contribute to high blood pressure, consider using herbs like parsley, saffron, or rosemary to season your meals. They can add rich flavors with minimal or no added salt.
    2. 1. Beans (e.g., chickpeas, black beans): Beans are a great addition to the diet for those aged 50 and over. They provide fiber, plant-based protein, and support heart health, blood sugar management, and weight control. If using canned beans, rinse and drain them to reduce sodium intake.
    3. 2. Low-fat cottage cheese: Cottage cheese, especially low-sodium or no-salt-added options, is a high-protein food suitable for various meals or snacks. It pairs well with fruit for a sweet and savory combination or can be used in dips for fresh vegetables.
    4. Dark leafy greens (e.g., spinach, kale, chard, broccoli): These vegetables are rich in fiber, iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium, promoting heart health and aiding in weight management and blood sugar control.
    5. 3. Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries): Berries are packed with antioxidants, helping reduce inflammation and offering anti-cancer properties. They are also high in fiber, making them an excellent choice for managing blood sugar.
    6. 4. Salmon (preferably wild-caught): Salmon is a top choice due to its omega-3 fatty acids, benefiting heart and brain health. It’s lower in saturated fat compared to red meat.
    7. Nuts and seeds (almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds): These are rich in heart-healthy fats, fiber, and essential nutrients. They support healthy cholesterol levels, digestive health, and plant-based protein intake.
    8. 5. Lean protein (chicken, turkey, eggs, tofu, legumes, lentils): Opt for lean cuts of meat, eggs, or plant-based proteins to maintain muscle, support immune function, and facilitate wound healing.
    9. Quinoa and brown rice: Whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, whole wheat, and oats are high in fiber and complex carbohydrates. They provide sustained energy, aid digestion, and help regulate blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of metabolic diseases.

While nutritional needs may become more intricate with age, simple dietary adjustments can lead to delicious and straightforward ways to modify your eating habits. So, start composing that grocery list!

  •  We need to document our music well – Epixode

We need to document our music well – Epixode

Reggae dancehall recording artist and creative director, Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, widely recognized as Epixode, has proposed a potential solution for promoting Ghanaian music on a global scale.

In an interview with oy PrimeEpixode suggests that if the distinctive rhythms and sounds of songs crafted by both seasoned and emerging artists are comprehensively documented, it will lead to a significant enhancement of Ghana’s music industry.

He substantiated his statement by pointing to recent instances of international artists sampling Ghanaian music in their work. According to Epixode, these international musicians are able to do so because Ghana has not maintained sufficient records of its songs over the years.

“They sample our songs every time. Like recently I heard a chronics on a Rock Stone’s rhythm, and I was like, Really?” But we don’t have a room to keep these catalogues to also help the next generation know that this is what makes our sound… well, we’re getting there if we document it well,” he said.

Although Epixode is a reggae dancehall artiste, he recently hopped into Ghana’s original music genre, Highlife, by doing a rendition of his song ‘Atia’ with Kwabena Kwabena and other genres.

He was nominated for highlife song of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards after his highlife rendition performed better than the rest.

This leads him to believe that highlife music will serve the nation’s creative sector best in the future.

“I look at the longevity of my craft and who I want to be, and I’ve come to the realisation that it will get to a time when highlife will rule. It’s the sound of the future.

So if some melodies can’t go into reggae or dancehall, even if you watched the international market in Jamaica, they’re not doing straight dancehall; they’re even now tapping into the afro sound. We that we have it here, why don’t we do it more?”he quizzed.

Meanwhile, Epixode is out with a new single for dancehall music lovers titled “Stubborn Souljah”.

Kenyan authorities retrieve seized islands from Indian Ocean

Kenya‘s agency against corruption stated that it has taken back three islands in the Indian Ocean that were unlawfully taken by three individuals.

The person speaking for the agency, Eric Ngumbi, said that they are trying to get back a fourth island. The person they are accusing of taking it won’t give it back.

According to a government body in Kenya called the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the four islands have a value of 305 million Kenyan shillings, which is equal to 2 million US dollars or 1. 6 million British pounds.

The islands became a protected area in 1978 under the Kisite Mpunguni Marine Reserve. After that, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) legally owned and took care of the country’s wildlife resources.

Mr Ngumbi said to the press that if individuals privately own the islands, it could be dangerous because people might do illegal things there without the government knowing. The islands are hidden and two hours away from the mainland by water.

Nigeria considers its G20 membership options

Nigeria is thinking about joining the G20 group of big economies.

President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale said on Sunday that the government is thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of joining before deciding whether to apply.

Mr Ngelale said in a statement that Nigeria wants to be a part of the G20, but the government is talking to different people to understand the good and bad things that could come from being a member.

President Tinubu went to Delhi because he was invited by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend a summit with other leaders.

Mr Ngelale said that Mr. Tinubu went to the G20 summit to look for money from other countries to invest in Nigeria. He also wanted to get more people interested in investing in Nigeria and make agreements with other countries to work together.

Right now, South Africa is the only country from Africa that is part of the G20.

Third witness in the leaked plot to oust the IGP, Superintendent George L. Asare, has disclosed that he had suggested COP Alex Mensah as a potential candidate for the top position in the police service to Bugri Naabu.

He provided this information in response to a question regarding his connection to the initial witness, Bugri Naabu.

“When I went, after asking me about the progress of the assignment he gave me in respect to his Assistant Ayitey, he told me Commander, they are looking for a new IGP. So, do you have somebody in mind that you can recommend? I told him of course Yes. So, he asked me who that person was, and I mentioned Commissioner of Police, George Alex Mensah’s name to him,” he said.
