China has advised India to stay composed regarding a newly made map, which India alleges depicts their land as Chinese territory.
India got angry when China released a map that claimed that Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin belonged to China.
Beijing said that India should not overanalyze or overthink the matter.
Media reports are saying that Chinese President Xi Jinping might not attend the G20 leaders’ meeting in Delhi next week.
There are reports that haven’t been confirmed yet, but they say that Premier Li Quang might go instead. Xi previously said he would go to Delhi for the meeting on September 9th and 10th. However, when asked about his attendance at a press briefing on Thursday, China’s foreign ministry did not confirm it.
Sources that are not known told Reuters news agency that he decided not to go through with his plan because of the dispute over the map. The BBC was unable to confirm the statement on its own.
The disagreement over China’s standard national map for 2023 is getting worse. This disagreement happened shortly after the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Xi talked at the Brics summit in South Africa.
The Foreign Minister, S Jaishankar, said that China’s claim is “ridiculous”. An Indian official later stated that both countries agreed to “work harder to quickly pull back and lessen tensions” along the disputed border.
China made it clear on Thursday that it was not willing to change its stance on the map, a problem that has caused difficulties in their relationship for many years.
“China regularly follows its laws when exercising its sovereignty,” stated Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the foreign ministry.
We want everyone involved to stay unbiased and relaxed, and not make too many assumptions about the problem.
India gets very angry when China tries to claim its land.
The reason for the tension between the neighbors is a disagreement over a border that is about 3,440km long (equivalent to 2,100 miles). This border is called the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and is located in the Himalayas. The border is not clearly marked, and soldiers from both sides often encounter each other at different points along the border.
China claims that Arunachal Pradesh belongs to it and refers to it as “South Tibet. ” However, India strongly disagrees with this claim. India says that they own the Aksai Chin plateau in the Himalayas, but China controls it.
Relations between India and China have become worse since 2020. This happened because their soldiers had a deadly fight in the Galwan valley in Ladakh. It was the first time they had such a deadly fight since 1975.

2 dead, 1 injured in clashes between Gbi Godenu residents and police
A violent confrontation between Gbi Godenu residents and Police in Hohoe has resulted in two fatalities, with another injured after a Police vehicle knocked him down on Wednesday.
A Ghana News Agency visit to Hohoe Regional Hospital revealed that the motorcyclist underwent surgical treatment in response to injuries sustained from the incident. However, two additional individuals were pronounced deceased upon arrival, with their bodies placed in the morgue awaiting autopsy.
Due to a disagreement between certain police officers and civilians over suspected contraband, the Gbi Godenu town within the Hohoe Municipality has been abandoned.
The alleged scuffle stemmed from a Police chase of a man riding a motorbike, who was suspected to be carrying some contraband consignment, who was knocked down by the driver of the Police vehicle and injured in the process of stopping him.
This incident incensed the residents, who mobilised to block the main Hohoe-Accra Road and met the Police force but two residents were hit by bullets, injuring them.
There were multiple reports with different narrations pertaining to the incident but Mr Andy Agbi, an eyewitness narrated to the GNA that a Police vehicle, which was chasing a motor rider, believed by the Police to be carrying contraband consignment failed to stop when flagged to do so.
He said the get-away-rider was then chased by the Police taskforce and knocked down into a gutter.
Mr Agbi said the injured rider was sent to the hospital by the town folks and later the Police vehicle caught fire, which he believed was an electrical fault.
However, the Police returned to the scene suspecting the incident to be an arsonist attack on their vehicle in retaliation.
He said the Police re-mobilised the area to show force by raiding the town, setting motorbikes ablaze on sight and looting shops amidst the indiscriminate firing of their weapons.
Mr. Agbi said he saw one of the victims, who was shot in the leg, rush to the hospital while he picked up information that one was also shot in the shoulder but later got information, that both had passed on.
When the GNA arrived at Gbi Wegbe, many of the shops were closed, with roads leading to Kpando from Hohoe and from Hohoe to Accra blocked.
It was observed that Schools at Gbi Wegbe as of 1330 hours were closed.
A male victim told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he was dragged out of his shop by the Police and hit with the butt of a gun and he had to run for his life.
GNA saw bruises and a cut on his head, while his face and part of his body were swollen.
A female store owner at Godenu was wailing and shouting about how the Police had broken into her shop, destroyed her fridge and made away with some provisions.
A scuffle ensued and when Mr Daniel Noble Awume, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), arrived at Gbi Wegbe, he was greeted by angry youth, who would not listen to any explanation from the MCE.
The occurrence later forced the MCE to drive away from the scene.
The road between where the civilians had mounted a roadblock and that of the Police was about two kilometres apart with visible sizes of stones and pieces of cement blocks littering the space. There was blood stain on some part of the road.
An ash car with registration number GC 8249 11 had all its glasses smashed, while more than 45 motorbikes were set ablaze.
A swoop by the Police also led to the seizure of parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Police also picked up close to 15 individuals, some of whom were in handcuffs, with some showing various forms of injuries.
Mr Patrick Dzandu, Assemblyman, Gbi-Wegbe Electoral Area, who tried calming the nerves of angry residents, who had blocked the main Hohoe-Accra Road failed to convince the residents to leave the street.
Mr John-Peter Amewu, Member of Parliament of Hohoe, asked the Police to avoid any further swoop action against the Gbi Godenu and Gbi Wegbe communities as that could elicit the loss of lives.
The Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area Togbega Gabusu VII has called for calm from Gbi-Godenu to Gbi–Wegbe and assured the youth of an amicable resolution to ensure peace in the Gbi State.
“I have spoken to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) so this issue will be resolved but I ask that you (youth) do not take the laws into your own hands,” he added.
The Police said they restored calm after a violent disturbance in which a Police patrol vehicle involved in an accident with a motorbike rider was set on fire by some community members.
They added that “two people lost their lives in the violence and the motor rider who sustained injury during the accident is currently receiving medical attention, 12 people have so far been arrested and one Bruni pistol retrieved.”
Residents of Wegbe and Godenu suffered from Police brutality resulting in the death of two of their members last year and some months ago, and that could be the underlying conflict between the people and the Police.

Castro and I were no longer friends before his disappearance – Mzbel
Ghanaian songstress, Mzbel, has openly shared that she doesn’t feel a sense of longing for her friend, Castro, who disappeared without a trace nine years ago.
Mzbel and Castro had collaborated on several projects, most notably the popular track ’16 Years’.
Their connection extended beyond music, as they were known to be close companions, often referred to as the premier ‘music couple’ in the country during that era.
Mzbel revealed in a series of interviews that Castro had served as her mentor, among other roles.

Yet, when questioned about the impact of Castro’s disappearance on her, Mzbel responded, “I don’t miss him.”
She elaborated that their friendship had been strained before his disappearance, characterized by numerous misunderstandings.
“Prior to the incident, our friendship had faded. We had disagreements that led to us no longer being friends,” Mzbel disclosed.
“However,” she continued, “occasionally, while in the studio, memories of his guidance come back to me. But to say I miss him, that sentiment doesn’t exist. There was no romantic involvement,” she clarified.

Minority denounces police betrayal against its #OccupyBoG protest
The Parliamentary Minority has strongly criticized the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, characterizing their actions during the #OccupyBoG protest as a form of betrayal.
According to NDC Members of Parliament, the police are resolute in their efforts to obstruct their endeavor to hold the Bank of Ghana Governor and his deputies accountable for the losses incurred at the central bank in the previous year.
The Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, addressing the media on the development on Wednesday, August 30, said they are not perturbed by the conduct of the police.
According to the Ellembelle MP, they will proceed with the intended action to demand accountability for the managers of the central bank.

“We received a letter on Wednesday from the Ghana Police Service accompanied by a bailiff from the Accra High Court who served a notice or motion for an order to prohibit our Bank of Ghana protest, and we must say that we are very disappointed with this development which is an attempt to scatter the protest which is intended to hold the governor and his deputies accountable for their mismanagement of the bank which resulted in an unprecedented and colossal loss of GHS60.8 billion, an amount which has had serious consequences on the economy and pushed close to one million Ghanaians into poverty.”
“And let us assure the people of Ghana that, as representatives, we will keep our sacred duty and we will uphold the public interest in line with our constitutionally guaranteed right to publicly protest, and we want to assure the people of Ghana that we have resolved to embark on this protest and nothing will stop us.”
The Ghana Police Service on Wednesday filed for an injunction against the Minority’s proposed routes for its protest.
The group will on September 5 seek to march from Makola, through Rawlings Park and Opera Square to the frontage of the Bank of Ghana.
However, the police argue that the route is often overcrowded with human and vehicular traffic and thus going by that route could endanger public order, public safety and the running of essential services.
They had proposed an alternate route starting from the Parliament House through the Osu Cemetery Traffic Light to end at Independence Square, which the minority rejected.
The injunction, which will be heard on September 4 is to prevent the Minority from using their preferred route.
The Minority in reaction to the injunction application also described it as a “breach of trust” and expressed their utter disappointment at the conduct of the police.
They intend to defend their case and embark on the protest on their preferred routes.

Prisoner Alex Murdaugh denied phone access after media call
Alex Murdaugh, a lawyer from South Carolina who is serving a life sentence for murder, is no longer allowed to use his phone in prison because he talked to the media without permission.
Prison officials said that the lawyer of a person who is 55 years old recorded him reading his diary entries during a phone call in June.
It is said that the recording was later given to the makers of an upcoming documentary on Fox Nation about his situation.
Murdaugh was found guilty in March of murdering his wife and younger son.
A spokesperson for South Carolina state prisons explained that people harmed by a crime should not have to see or hear the person who harmed them or their family member on the news.
Murdaugh broke two prison rules and got in trouble at a meeting this week.
He will not be able to use his phone, tablet, or buy things from the prison store for a month.
The department will decide if and when inmate Murdaugh can have a tablet again.
Murdaugh is being investigated because his staff found out that a phone call with his lawyer was used by the media.
His phone was taken away while they were investigating, but he supposedly borrowed someone else’s phone to make a call.
Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie, who is 52 years old, and their son Paul, who is 22 years old, were shot from a close distance on their family property on June 7, 2021. The prosecutors said he killed them to distract people from his money crimes and get people to feel sorry for him.
The famous legal family in South Carolina was involved in a big court case that caught the attention of the entire United States. Murdaugh received a punishment of life in prison with no chance of release.
According to court records, he is likely to admit that he took millions of dollars from his clients and he will appear in federal court next month to do so. -

Country Garden: Property titans in China suffer record losses
Country Garden, one of the largest property developers in China, recently mentioned that it might not be able to repay its debts on time.
The company that was in a crisis announced that they lost a huge amount of money, $6. 7 billion, during the first six months of this year.
Country Garden said in the statement that it was very sorry for not doing a good job.
This news adds to worries about how the world’s second largest economy will recover after the pandemic.
Country Garden has also said that it did not make the required interest payments on the bonds that were supposed to be paid this month. However, it said that there was still a 30-day period where you could make the payments without any consequences.
It is also said to be trying to get more time to pay back another loan.
The company said that it might not be able to pay back its debts if its financial situation keeps getting worse.
Country Garden said in a statement to regulators in Hong Kong that the group may not be able to meet the financial requirements of these borrowed funds. This could lead to a default on the borrowed money, which may also cause a default on other borrowed funds.
Earlier this month, the company said that it might lose around $7. 6 billion in the first half of this year. The company predicted a loss between 45 billion yuan and 55 billion yuan, and the actual loss was at the lower end of that estimate, at around 45 billion yuan.
Shares of Country Garden were up by approximately 1% during trading in Hong Kong on Thursday morning.
The issues in China’s property market, which involve things like constructing houses and manufacturing the goods used in them, are having a huge effect because it makes up about one-third of the economy.
China’s property industry was shaken up by new regulations in 2020, which limited the borrowing capacity of large real estate companies.
Evergrande, a popular company in China, gathered a debt of over $300 billion. This happened because the company grew quickly and became one of the largest companies in the country.
The company’s money issues have affected the property industry in the country. Other developers have also failed to pay their debts and have abandoned construction projects throughout the country.
During the weekend, Evergrande reported that it lost 33 billion yuan in the first half of the year.
On Monday, the value of its shares dropped by almost 80% when they were traded in Hong Kong for the first time in a year and a half.
The value of Evergrande shares dropped by over 99% in the last three years because the government in Beijing took action against real estate companies.
China is also dealing with other problems, such as slow economic growth, excessive debt in local governments, and very high unemployment among young people.
On Thursday, new information was released showing that activity in China’s factories decreased for the fifth month in a row.
The Purchasing Managers’ Index was 49. 7 in August It got better compared to last month, but it’s still below 50, which means there was a decrease. -

Italian trains kill five rail workers
A fast-moving train crashed into railway workers near a station in Italy, causing the death of at least five people.
The workers, who were between the ages of 22 and 52, were replacing a part of a track near the city of Turin in the northern area. Unfortunately, they lost their lives during this task.
They were working on the train tracks between Turin and Milan when a train without any passengers passed through Brandizzo station. The train was said to be traveling at a speed of 160km/h (100mph).
Mayor Paolo Bodoni said that they are currently conducting an investigation, according to the Italian media.
Two workers were not hurt but were taken to the hospital to be watched closely. The person driving the train felt very scared after something bad happened, so they were given help right away. After a while, they were allowed to go back to their own house. He will likely be asked later about the accident.
Italian railway network (RFI) said they are very sad about the incident. It also expressed its sympathy to the families of those who died.
Mr Bodoni said the incident was very scary and a very big sad event.
Italian reports said that workers were replacing around 10 meters of track when a train with no passengers and carrying twelve wagons passed through Brandizzo station very quickly.
Some people were pulled for a long distance along the track.
The mayor of Brandizzo, a little town near Turin, said he will wait for the inquiry’s result, but he can’t rule out a communication mistake. -

Australia mushroom deaths: Numerous gather to mourn Australian couple who died after eating mushroom lunch
Hundreds of people attended a ceremony in Australia to honor a couple who passed away after eating a mushroom beef dish made by their ex-daughter-in-law.
Gail and Don Patterson were two out of three people who died after having lunch at Erin Patterson’s house last month. This event has attracted a lot of attention from the entire country.
The police think that the Pattersons and Don’s sister, Heather Wilkinson, ate poisonous death cap mushrooms.
Ms Patterson claims she didn’t do anything wrong and the inclusion of mushrooms was unintentional.
All four of her guests became very sick shortly after they ate lunch. Ian Wilkinson, who is married to Ms. Wilkinson and is a pastor in the area, was the fourth person to come as a guest.
According to Australian media, Mr. Wilkinson is still in the hospital but he is getting better, even though his wife has also passed away.
The police think Erin Patterson might have done something wrong because she and her two children seemed fine after lunch. But she hasn’t been taken into custody and she isn’t being accused of any wrongdoing.
The cook says that the mushroom deaths in Australia were accidental.
On Thursday, she didn’t go to the memorial in the country town of Korumburra, which is a few hours drive south-east of Melbourne.
Her ex-husband Simon Patterson gave a speech at the funeral, which was also his first public statement about the tragic event. He was asked to come to a family lunch on July 29th, but he couldn’t go because something came up suddenly.
MrPatterson talked about his parents in the speech, but didn’t mention his ex-wife. He said that his parents were very religious Christians who used to be missionaries and were dedicated to their faith and helping others.“He said that the fact they both died on consecutive days shows how closely they worked together to achieve their goals. ”
We were one of the few families who sat together at the tea table for dinner in the evening.
Mr Patterson said that his father, who is 70 years old, had to get a liver transplant while in the hospital. He mentioned that his father’s good health helped him survive the surgery.
“He said that unfortunately, the rest of his body was too sick to go any further than that point. ”
Mr Patterson could not hold back his tears. He said, “It was not a coincidence that my mom’s last text message in our family chat was ‘Lots of love to you all’, when she was in Dandenong Hospital. ”
Ever since the sad event happened to the family, Australia cannot stop thinking about the situation – and people are paying very close attention to all the details. Many people across the country were interested in the case, so a television crew came to the Thursday service and showed the footage on different channels.
Ms Patterson has consistently stated that she didn’t do anything wrong and mentioned that she had to go to the hospital because her stomach hurt after eating the meal.
Two weeks ago, she explained why she did what she did to the police. -

TMPC clamps down on unlicensed herbal medicine shops at Nkrumah Circle
Chief of the Public Affairs Unit at the Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC), Numo Blafo III, has stressed the importance of obtaining licenses for individuals involved in the trade of traditional medicines.
He clarified that this requirement is essential to enable the Council to effectively oversee and organise individuals selling such types of medicines to the public, ensuring that unsuspecting individuals are not adversely affected.
Numo Blafo III said this to the media during a routine enforcement exercise of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council aimed at ensuring that people who are selling herbal medicine without certification or license are identified, educated on the best practices, and in extreme cases, arrested.
Numo Blafo III stressed the need for the products that are sold on the streets to be FDA-certified.
“This exercise is actually aimed at clearing out the quacks within the system because there are a lot of reports of people selling things they claim to be herbal medicines. Sometimes, people use them and it doesn’t work and sometimes too, they are not sure of the potency or the efficacy of the products they are selling.
“We now have some products which are on shelves and those products should be authorized by the FDA. So, most of the time when we come, as the TMPC, we actually regulate the practice and the practitioners, so when we come and you’re not licensed to sell, we have to cause your arrest or educate you on the need for you to do the license and the certificate.
“But then when we also see that you are peddling certain items not certified by the FDA, then that is where we actually hold you and refer you to the FDA,” he explained.

New controversy hurts Adani Group in India
The Indian-based Adani Group is facing difficulties as a recent report indicates their involvement in using undisclosed funds to violate regulations and manipulate stock values.
Report claims that the group spent millions of dollars buying stocks in its own companies using offshore methods.
It says that two people who invest for themselves supposedly bought and sold the stocks for the group.
The Adani Group dismissed the claims, saying they were baseless.
The report was published on Thursday by a group called the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which is made up of journalists who investigate issues around the world. The Guardian and Financial Times gave papers and wrote stories about them.
The Adani Group does many different things in India and other places. They trade commodities, run airports and ports, provide utilities like electricity and water, and work with renewable energy. 1Gautam Adani, a billionaire, is the leader of this organization. 2Gautam Adani, who is very rich, is in charge of this group. There are 24 people on the Forbes real-time billionaires list.
People believe Mr Adani is friends with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Many opposition politicians say he has gained advantages because of his friendship with Modi, but he denies these allegations.
Earlier this year, the businessman got involved in a big scandal. Hindenburg Research, a US company that bets on stocks losing value, accused his group of dishonestly manipulating the stock market and committing fraud with accounting. Hindenburg also claimed that the group was using companies from other countries and fake companies to invest money in its own stocks, which made the stock prices go up.
The group said the claims were not true and meant to harm them, but their shares lost a lot of value in the stock market and they had to cancel a plan to sell more shares. A group chosen by India’s highest court is currently overseeing an investigation by the country’s market regulator into the accusations.
How Gautam Adani’s business lost $100 billion in just a few days.
Can the Adani Group in India make a comeback from a $100 billion loss.
According to the OCCRP report, two investors have been trading a large amount of Adani Group stock for many years. The two men are closely connected to the Adani family and have been in charge of and own part of companies linked to the group.
The BBC has not looked into the claims themselves.
OCCRP claimed that there was no proof that the money they used for their investments came from the Adani family.
However, they also found evidence indicating that their trading in Adani stock was planned together with the family, based on the reports and documents reviewed by their journalists.
OCCRP said that whether this arrangement is against the law depends on if Ahli and Chang should be seen as acting for Adani ‘promoters’, which means the majority owners of a business in India.
MrAhli and Mr. Chang did not respond publicly right away, but the Adani Group expressed skepticism about the timing of the news report, describing it as suspicious and malicious.
“We believe in the fair legal system and trust that our disclosures and corporate governance standards are of high quality,” the statement said.
The value of Adani Enterprises’ shares, the main company of the group, decreased by 2. 82% on the BSE index. -

UBS to lay off 3,000 staffs following takeover by Credit Suisse
UBS is taking over Credit Suisse, a move that will reshape Swiss banking and result in thousands of job losses.
UBS Group made a profit of $29. 3 billion (£228 billion) between April and June, in its first report since purchasing its struggling competitor.
The profit made this year is much higher compared to last year, mainly because of a one-time increase from Credit Suisse.
However, the combined bank will lay off 3,000 employees in the next few years in order to reduce expenses by over $10 billion.
UBS saved Credit Suisse for $3. 25 billion in March because regulators were worried that Switzerland‘s second biggest bank would collapse due to customers taking their money out.
Credit Suisse had many problems and banking failures in the US, which made people lose trust in the bank. This made the bank look for someone who would buy it.
UBS has said that it will take over Credit Suisse’s domestic bank instead of making it a separate company. The bank made money last year.
“Our research clearly shows that combining all aspects of UBS is the most beneficial result for UBS, our investors, and the Swiss economy,” said CEO Sergio Ermotti in a statement.
The combination will happen next year and all customers will move over by 2025. -

Ex-girlfriends unite and crash groom’s wedding
A man’s joyous occasion in China took a nightmarish turn when a group of his ex-girlfriends orchestrated a disruption during his wedding ceremony.
In Hengdi Village, China’s Yunan province, wedding attendees were bewildered by an unprecedented scene. About a dozen women gathered outside the wedding venue, holding a sizable red banner bearing the words “We are Chen Song’s ex-girlfriends, and today we will destroy you.”
Initially, many assumed this was a friendly prank, but it soon became clear that the women were indeed Chen’s resentful ex-girlfriends determined to mar his special day.
A viral video captured the women standing across the street from Chen’s wedding location, quietly displaying the red banner. Some guests approached them to inquire about their protest. Even Chen and his bride approached the group at one point.
Chen Song shared, “It embarrassed me quite a lot. Now my newlywed wife and her family are upset with me.”

Interestingly, Chen admitted to mistreating some of his ex-girlfriends in the past, but he claimed to have matured and changed his ways. Nonetheless, his wife and in-laws are reportedly not speaking to him until they receive a satisfactory explanation for the unconventional wedding disruption.
He stated, “I was immature when I was younger, and I hurt many girls.” Chen expressed remorse for his past actions and advised other men to treat women respectfully, adding, “You must be loyal to your girlfriend rather than cheating on her. If in the future she decides to air her grievance, you will be done,” speaking from his own experience.
Despite the humiliating ordeal, Chinese social media showed little sympathy for Chen, with most commenters attributing his troubles to his own behavior and suggesting his bride should consider ending the marriage.
“As the saying goes, ‘A leopard can’t change its spots,’” one person wrote.
“The newlywed wife must thank the team of ex-girlfriends. If I were her, I would divorce him right away,” another person added.

Huge cash stash found in son of Ali Bongo’s home
A politician has been caught in Gabon with a substantial amount of cash at their residence, mirroring the situation involving Cecilia Dapaah.
Recall that Cecilia Dapaah was recently in the news following reports of a theft case at her home, involving allegations that her house staff had stolen significant amounts of money. Subsequently, there were also reports indicating that the Office of the Special Prosecutor discovered additional funds at her residence after conducting a search in her apartment.
A similar event has occurred in Gabon. Two videos have rapidly circulated in the wake of the announcement of the August 30, 2023 coup in Gabon.
The more contentious video depicted a purported substantial cash find within the residence of a detained politician.
Various reports have associated the seized funds with one of the seven politicians held in custody by the junta, facing allegations of treason, money laundering, corruption, and other accusations.
Others have even alluded to the monies having been found at the home of president Ali Bongo himself, which according to experts is farfetched.
GhanaWeb is unable to independently authenticate the ownership of the funds especially as neither the junta nor the media have reported on it.
What the video contained:
In the 23-second video, about a dozen big travel suitcases have been flung open and each one is filled with bundles of cash to the brim.
From what this reporter saw, the bundles are largely untouched with their polythene wrapper and are likely to have been dispatched from the central bank or a holding point.
The officials inspecting the sums include one in simple clothes whiles another, dressed like a member of the security agency is also sighted.
There are armed security men also captured in the video.
Some experts have warned that in times like this, such amounts could be planted at homes of politicians as a way of implicating them for trumped-up charges by adversaries who may be in position of power.

Fuel taxes and lodging fees to go up in Ireland
Starting from midnight, the temporary reductions on fuel and hospitality taxes in Ireland will no longer be in effect, resulting in an increase of these taxes.
In March 2022, the government reduced fuel taxes because prices rose a lot due to Russia invading Ukraine.
The cost of petrol will go up by 7 cents for each litre, and the cost of diesel will go up by 5 cents.
The tax rate for tourism, hospitality and certain other service businesses will go up from 9% to 13. 5%
The rate was reduced in November 2020 because of the pandemic.
Originally, it was planned to continue until December 2021, but it was extended twice.
Business groups wanted the lower rate to continue because they believed that an increase would make things harder for companies that are already struggling with the effects of rising prices.
Government ministers said no, because they could no longer find a good reason to have a lower rate.
But the finance minister hasn’t said no to delaying the increase in fuel taxes that is supposed to happen before the year ends.
Michael McGrath stated that the proposal to raise the cost of petrol by 8 cents per litre and diesel by 6 cents per litre would be regularly reviewed.
The prices of fuel for cars in Ireland affect the market in Northern Ireland.
A recent study from the UK’s competition watchdog showed that petrol and diesel in Northern Ireland are less expensive than in other areas of the UK. This is due to the competition from filling stations located across the border. -

Ayisha Modi “lied” about Obofour gifting her a house
Ghanaian socialite Ayisha Modi has caused a stir with her contradictory statements in a recent interview, prompting reactions from netizens.
In a previous interview with Delay in 2020, Ayisha Modi had claimed that she owned a four-bedroom house in East Legon Agiringanor, which she received as a gift from her ‘god-parents,’ Reverend Obofour and his wife, Queen Ciara. Her aim was to highlight the strength of her relationship with the couple.
She had stated, “All my lands are in East Legon. Currently, I have five plots there. My house is located in East Legon, Agiringanor. Behind Rawlings’ house. It was given to me by Rev. Obofour and his wife. It has four master bedrooms.”
However, in a recent interview with Zionfelix, Ayisha Modi contradicted her previous statements. She vehemently denied that her East Legon home was a gift from Obofour and his wife, asserting that the level of luxury she desires is beyond what anyone else can afford.
Responding to a question about whether her East Legon house was gifted by Rev. Obofour and his wife, Ayisha firmly stated, “That is not true. It is never true. Let me tell you something, what I can afford for myself, nobody can afford for me. I am telling you the truth. What I can buy for people, they can’t even afford for themselves.”
When asked if they had ever gifted her land, she replied, “No. I am the one who gives out lands.”
Recent rumors have suggested a strained relationship between Ayisha and the couple whom she had previously held in high regard. However, she clarified that, “They are still my godparents. When Diamond Appiah spoke ill of them, I came out to address it.”

Opposition party in Mexico chooses female candidate
Xóchitl Gálvez, a woman senator who speaks up frequently and possesses indigenous heritage, has been selected by Mexico’s opposition party as their candidate for the 2024 presidential race. Xóchitl Gálvez, a 60-year-old computer professional, has been chosen by Mexico’s anti-government faction as their contender for the upcoming presidential election in 2024.
The opposition group in Mexico has opted for Xóchitl Gálvez, a senator who is vocal and has indigenous ancestry, as their candidate for the 2024 presidential campaign She is also involved in business.
There is a possibility that Mexico might have a woman as a president for the first time if she is nominated.
Claudia Sheinbaum, who used to be the mayor of Mexico City, is seen as the most likely candidate to win the up coming election for the Morena party, which is led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Ms Gálvez has the support of a group of three political parties, including the PRI, which used to be very powerful in the country until 2000.
When she was a child and her family didn’t have much money, she assisted in selling food on the streets in Hidalgo, a state in the center of the country.
According to the Associated Press, Ms. Gálvez said that her father, who was an Otomi schoolteacher and belonged to an indigenous community, was a mean person and had a drinking problem.
She went to Mexico City and got a scholarship to study computer science. After finishing school, she started a successful technology company that won contracts with the government.
Ms Gálvez wears traditional clothing from the local culture, speaks in casual language, and is frequently spotted riding a bicycle in Mexico City. Many working class and young Mexicans like her because she is funny and easy to relate to.
However, she has a difficult challenge ahead of her because she is going against the party of President López Obrador. He is very popular with a rating of over 60% but cannot run for re-election next year because he can only serve a maximum of six years in office.
Ms Gálvez and the president often don’t agree on things like the high levels of violence in Mexico. She believes that we need brave people to fight organized crime. He said that she is the candidate for rich people, the “oligarchs,” and “conservatives. “
There might be a competition between Ms. Gálvez and Ms. Sheinbaum, both women, and Ms. Sheinbaum is a 61-year-old scientist. Sheinbaum’s main competitor within her own organization is Marcelo Ebrard, who used to be the Foreign Minister.
Ms Gálvez says she is not bothered or worried by either of her possible opponents. “They are there because they want to keep doing what the president is doing,” she told AP. “They lack a sense of who they are as individuals. “
In June,Mexicans will choose their new president. -

Moscow tense and patriotic following 18 months of war
The history of Russia‘s empire has a big influence in Moscow. The walls and towers of the Kremlin are so big that when visitors see them from Red Square, they feel very small.
When I go to Victory Park, which is five miles away, I feel the same way. It is a big place with museums and memorials made to remember when the Soviet Union won against Nazi Germany. The main attraction is a big square with a tall obelisk that is 141. 8mIt represents each day of the Great Patriotic War, which was the Soviet Union’s involvement in World War Two after the Nazi invasion.
When I go there, it’s the day when Russians celebrate their flag. A really big flag, said to be the biggest in the country, is being raised on the square.
Surrounded by strict rows of Russian soldiers, the flag is unfolded while a military band plays songs that make people feel proud of their country. The person in charge of the museum gives a talk, emphasizing that these events bring our community together.
The Russian government has been promoting events that celebrate their country and show pride in it more often since they invaded Ukraine.
Inside the Victory Museum, there is a special exhibit dedicated to the heroic individuals involved in a specific military mission. Information boards are comparing the Russian soldiers who are currently fighting in Ukraine to the Soviet soldiers who fought in World War II.
Andrei Afanasiev, a blogger who supports the government of Russia and teaches at a university, agrees to meet with me. He says that loving one’s country is very important during times of war. He believes that the conflict between the West and Russia has made Russians realize that they can only rely on themselves.
“You can trust only yourself, your country, and your military. ” Certainly, people are more patriotic now than they used to be. “War brings us together and inspires us,” he says.I ask Andrei if he thinks the war is going poorly for Russia. “He disagrees,” he answers. I think Russia will be successful. We are prepared to win.
On Russian television, they talk about “successes” and “progress,” but the truth is not the same.
The Russian military knows they are in a big problem. According to a unnamed Russian military analyst, they lost land and their morale is really low.
They’re not ready for modern battles. The amount of money being lost is very high.
Did the president tell the truth about the actual situation on the battlefield. No, he says. People at all levels of authority are telling lies. As information spreads, it gets more and more twisted.
The analyst says that Russian officers in Ukraine are feeling anxious because they are barely managing to hold on as Kyiv launches its own attack.
Not only the Russian military is worried. The overall feeling I experience in Moscow is that people are generally feeling anxious or on edge. And there are many things to be concerned about. In June, Yevgeny Prigozhin started a rebellion and walked towards the main city. The head of the Wagner mercenary group was said to have died in a strange plane accident, which caused people to accuse the Russian government of being involved.
Earlier this month, the value of the rouble dropped significantly. Furthermore, there are frequent drone attacks happening in Moscow almost every day.
Although Russians don’t seem to be worried about these events on their own, many are concerned about the present and afraid of what may happen in the future.
In Gorky Park, which is like Moscow’s version of Hyde Park in London, there is a very peaceful and beautiful setting. Families can be seen walking along the riverside and enjoying activities like rollerblading. On the other hand, there is a big gray building called the Russian Defence Ministry. It has a system to shoot down planes that might attack.
It’s very different to see a surface-to-air missile system beside a beautiful park.
Svyatoslav says that he is not concerned about the air-defence system. Let them place a powerful weapon there if it makes them feel safer. I like what’s happening and we should take over all of Ukraine.
A woman named Irina also says she is not very bothered by the missiles in the middle of Russia’s capital. My feelings are steady, and my mind has gotten used to the situation. I am not as worried as I was before. But I believe that everything will get better and be resolved positively.Pavel and his wife Olga are taking a walk together. They have different opinions on the war in Ukraine: Olga thinks the Kremlin is right and thinks Ukraine is responsible, but her husband believes it’s Russia’s fault.
Pavel confesses that he is concerned about the drones falling in Moscow. But we agreed not to discuss politics, so that we can avoid arguing and annoying each other.
Many people don’t want to think about what is happening in cities and towns in Ukraine that are less than a day’s drive away.
Not many people in Moscow seem to be feeling excited or enthusiastic about going to war, even though Andrei Afanasiev says otherwise. Not many people wear clothing with the letter Z or other symbols of Russia’s war while walking on the streets. Among many people, there is a lack of interest, a feeling of giving up, or a quiet acceptance.
Many people in positions of authority feel the same way, including someone close to the Kremlin who is talking to me secretly.
People working in the Presidential Administration are either feeling oppressed or sad. They have been working there for a long time and have not gained any other experience. They don’t feel good about what’s coming ahead, but they don’t resist it and just follow along. The source says that there is not another option.
He says that people are scared to talk because there is no one opposing Putin in the government building called the Kremlin.People in Moscow are very scared right now. In a little room hidden on the highest floor of a shopping center, a gathering of people who disagree with the current situation is happening. They have set up a table with cookies, drinks, and small bites.
Yulia Galyamina, a local politician, is in charge of the meeting. She is one of the very few opposition figures in Russia who have not been sent to jail or forced to leave the country.
“She says that someone different gets arrested every week. ” I am always prepared for someone to knock on the door. I am lonely, but I believe I am doing the correct thing. My people need politicians in their country.
Some of the activists do not want to use their real names.
Yulia, who is an anti-war activist, considers herself fortunate to not be in jail at this point.
I want to know what message she wants to give to people in the West who believe that all Russians are in favor of the war.
“I want to mention that there are many people here who are against war and actively work to promote peace. Despite this, I believe that humanity will ultimately succeed. ” We are in a battle and we will try our hardest. -

Pre-game sexual activity must be avoided by serious footballers – Guru
Renowned Ghanaian musician Guru has offered advice to footballers, cautioning them against engaging in sexual activity before taking the field to play.
Guru asserted that sexual activity can limit a player’s performance.
He noted that only “unserious, aimless, and visionless” footballers involve themselves in pre-match sexual encounters, emphasizing the importance of focusing on pertinent matters instead of worldly distractions.
During an interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM, Guru remarked, “Every footballer with ambition and vision will never engage in sexual activity before stepping onto the field to play. We prioritize what truly matters over what pleases the world.”
It’s worth recalling that Ghanaian physical trainer Francis Totti Laryea previously expressed that sexual activity holds benefits for footballers.
Laryea stated, “Yes, indeed! Sex is beneficial… As a player, you need to find equilibrium. You can’t maintain peak fitness perpetually. No. You might even struggle during the actual match.”
“Throughout the season, there might not be ample time for sexual activity, but it’s advisable to address this before embarking on pre-season training,” Laryea recommended.
He further advised, “However, they should be committed to a single partner… My suggestion of the positive impact of sex doesn’t warrant promiscuity or multiple partners… absolutely not!”

NDC MP urges Electoral Commission chair to heed Goasomanhene’s wise counsel
Builsa South Member of Parliament, Dr Clement Apaak, has advised the Electoral Commission (EC) to heed the valuable advice of Goasomanhene Nana Akwasi Bosompra I and prolong the limited registration process to locations beyond the district offices.
Dr Apaak is urging the EC to reconsider its imprudent choice of concentrating the limited registration process solely at district offices, a move that could potentially undermine the people’s democratic intentions.
The traditional leader pointed out that the EC’s choice to confine the registration procedure to its district offices would hinder numerous individuals from completing their registration.
This comes after the EC announced a limited voter registration period for eligible Ghanaians who turned 18 after the 2020 registration period, as well as other eligible voters, from September 12, 2023, to October 2, 2023.
According to the EC’s Chairperson, Jean Mensa, the exercise will take place at all of the EC’s 268 district offices across the country.
In response, the traditional ruler requested that the EC reverse its decision and expand the registration centres.
According to him, such a move would deprive a number of Ghanaians of the right to vote.
Instead, he wants the commission to start the process of holding the exercise in the electoral areas.
According to him, this could lead to some people with resources but not the qualifications to be elected abusing the process by busing people to registration centres and then demanding their votes.
In response to the comments, Dr. Apaak urged the EC Chairperson to heed the chief’s wise counsel and expand the registration centres.
He stated that the EC chair should understand that her job is to ensure that every Ghanaian eligible to vote has the opportunity to register and vote.
He claims that the EC chair is violating this constitutional duty and that the chief is correct in urging the EC to expand the registration centres.
“Jean Mensa must understand that her job is to ensure that every Ghanaian citizen who has attained voting age is given everything opportunity to register and to vote. Unfortunately, she seems to relish doing the opposite. The Chief is right, listen to reason Madam.”

Our democracy under severe threat due to the monetization of politics – NCCE
Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy has issued a warning to the public and political candidates, highlighting the dangers of the monetization of politics through practices such as vote buying and selling. She emphasized that these actions pose a significant threat to the practice of democracy in the nation.
Addy pointed out that the trend of political parties and candidates distributing money to voters to sway their voting decisions has been growing in strength over time. She stressed that the inability of most voters to resist this practice has negative repercussions for the country’s democratic system, as the money given comes with expectations of gaining leadership roles.
She highlighted that not only does the conditional nature of this practice make it problematic, as the money given is expected to be accounted for, but it also creates the impression that democracy can be purchased in the country.
Consequently, the Chairperson called upon the public to refrain from accepting money from political candidates and parties, emphasizing that this approach would strengthen the democratic practice of the country.
Addy shared her concerns during the launch of the NCCE’s 30th-anniversary celebration, held under the theme, ‘Thirty Years of Sustaining Ghana’s Democracy through Effective Civic Education.’
Throughout the year-long anniversary celebration, there will be panel discussions involving statesmen discussing the role of Independent Government Institutions (IGIs) in upholding democracy. Additionally, activities will include visits to branches of government, civic awards to acknowledge patriotic citizens and national contributors, among other events.
A representative from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Stephen Azantilow, expressed gratitude for the NCCE’s ongoing support, noting that CHRAJ’s history is intertwined with that of the NCCE and that the NCCE’s existence has aided in protecting fundamental human rights, advocating for accountability, and nurturing respect for democracy in Ghana.

Andrea Giambruno received criticism for his comments about rape in Italy
Italian TV presenter Andrea Giambruno has faced criticism for suggesting that young women could prevent rape by avoiding getting drunk.
Giambruno, who is the partner of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, was speaking about recent reported incidents of group assaults in Italy.
In Sicily, seven men were accused of sexually assaulting a teenager. In a town near Naples called Caivano, it is said that six young people raped two cousins.
Giambruno now claims that his comments were misunderstood.
The Prime Minister, Meloni, has announced that she will go to Caivano on Thursday to support the residents after a terrible attack. Caivano has been facing problems with drug trafficking and organized crime controlled by the mafia.
The mother of one of the two girls sent a letter to Ms Meloni through her lawyer. The letter said that their family was being threatened and harassed by people in their neighborhood in the Parco Verde area of the town.
Recently, a 19-year-old lady who was attacked at an empty construction area in Palermo, Sicily shared on social media that she has moved out of her home and is now staying in a safe place for people who have experienced violence.
Her attackers recorded a video of the gang rape, and she is clearly having a difficult time dealing with the aftermath. She is saying that she is trying hard to overcome some problems in her mind, but she pretends like nothing happened and continues to smile.
Giambruno talked about gang rape on a TV channel called Rete 4. He criticized the rapists and compared them to wolves while talking to a newspaper editor.
“He said that if you go dancing, it’s okay for you to get drunk. ” If you don’t get drunk and pass out, you might not encounter certain problems because that’s when trouble can arise.
What he said made people angry.Martina Semenzato, in charge of a government investigation about violence against women and femicide, stated that there is no excuse for sexual violence and it is never the victim’s fault.
Chiara Gribaudo, a politician who leans towards the political center-left, accused him of placing blame solely on the victims. She expressed that instead of solely instructing women on how to avoid rape, he should focus on educating men, who are the real perpetrators.
Chiara Ferragni, a popular social media influencer, expressed on Instagram that women do not have issues with wolves, but rather with men.
Giambruno said that his critics are using his words unfairly and for their own gain. “He clarified that he never stated that men have the freedom to sexually assault women who are intoxicated. He mentioned that before his statement, he emphasized that such behavior is extremely horrible and done by inhuman individuals. ”
His partner, Ms Meloni, who is also the mother of their young daughter, has chosen not to publicly comment on the outcry.
Parish priest Maurizio Patriciello walks with politicians and activists at a demonstration to support victims of sexual violence on August 29, 2023 in Caivano.
Two hundred individuals came together in Caivano to support victims of sexual violence, alongside parish priest Maurizio Patriciello.
She decided to go to Caivano after the mother of one of the girls wrote a letter saying she didn’t feel safe there and her son had been robbed since the attack. The boy was the first to tell someone about the possible mistreatment.
“Prime minister, we trust you to take charge and make the decisions. ” She said, “Please remove us from this horrible place. ”
A priest named Maurizio Patriciello, who dislikes the mafia, has spoken highly of Prime Minister Meloni’s choice to come. He plans to request that she send many primary school teachers, which he refers to as “an army”.
However, not everyone is happy about her decision to visit Caivano, where the two young cousins were attacked.
People who are very angry about the government’s decision to stop giving out a minimum income benefit have sent her scary messages saying they want her dead.
The government before the current one introduced a program called the citizens’ income scheme. The prime minister claimed that this program allowed many Italians to not worry about finding a job.
She said that being threatened would not stop her from joining Italians who want to feel safe and have a better future for their kids. She said the government will keep fighting organized crime and won’t go in the opposite direction. -

NCCE urges EC to increase awareness about limited voter registration
The National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to enhance its efforts in educating the public about the forthcoming limited voter registration exercise.
The NCCE further suggested that the EC should consider employing mobile vans as a means of disseminating information to the populace.
Deputy Chairperson, Samuel Asare Akumoah, stressed the importance of the EC explaining to the citizens the significance of participating in the registration process.
The EC is scheduled to initiate a limited voter registration for eligible Ghanaians who turned 18 years after the 2020 registration and other eligible voters from September 12, 2023, to October 2, 2023.
“In the past, the motivation was that the voter’s ID card was used for things other than elections, so people would spend money to go and get it. Now they have the Ghana Card, which they can use for other things. If this is for elections, and they feel they don’t need it, they might not register. We need to motivate them; it’s essential that we provide access,” remarked the Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission on Civic Education.
Seven political parties in the country have expressed dissatisfaction with the Electoral Commission’s decision to confine the upcoming voter registration exercise to its district offices.
According to these political parties, such a move could disenfranchise individuals who have come of voting age.
They propose that the commission broaden the registration process to include electoral areas.
These seven political parties have pledged to persist until the EC registers every eligible Ghanaian who has reached the voting age.\

PFJ has reduced rice importation by half – Bryan Acheampong
The Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has vehemently defended the government’s flagship initiative, Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), asserting that the policy has brought about a remarkable transformation in food production and a substantial reduction in imports.
In his perspective, the policy has played a substantial role in slashing rice imports from an annual 950,000 metric tons to approximately 500,000 metric tons.
During an interview on The Point of View on Citi TV, Mr. Acheampong opposed the notion that the policy has primarily been ineffective. He asserted that the production of major grains consumed in Ghana has witnessed significant yield increases since the program’s inception in 2017.
“We used to import 950,000 metric tons of rice annually, and now it’s about 500,000 metric tons. So, PFJ has halved rice imports. Presently, we produce more maize than we consume, exceed our yam consumption, and in fact, we’re the world’s largest yam exporter. We also surpass our plantain consumption.”
When questioned about the challenges poultry farmers face in accessing maize for livestock feed despite surplus production, Mr. Acheampong responded, “We’re not producing at the price that the poultry industry requires, and that’s a separate issue. Poultry farmers not being able to acquire maize at a fixed cost doesn’t signify the policy’s failure.”
“I assert with confidence that our maize production outpaces consumption in this country. The struggles faced by poultry farmers to acquire feed do not indicate the program’s failure,” Mr. Acheampong emphasized.
Planting for Food and Jobs constitutes a flagship agricultural initiative of the Government, implemented through five distinct modules.
The first module, PFJ (Crops), aims to enhance food security, ensure the immediate availability of selected food crops in the market, and create employment opportunities.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo officially inaugurated this module on April 19, 2017, in Goaso, within the then Brong Ahafo Region.

Cedi projected to maintain stability against dollar throughout the week; trading at GHC11.43
It is anticipated that the Ghana cedi will maintain its stability in relation to the US dollar throughout the upcoming week.
This is a result of the anticipated foreign exchange auction intended for Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs).
As analysts predict a rise in corporate demand and the potential repatriation of offshore forex from coupon payments on the new bonds, the cedi is expected to maintain its stability throughout the current week.
Last week, the local currency remained firm on the spot market, while posting a mixed performance on the interbank market amidst tinny foreign exchange liquidity.
This is despite increased corporate demand, drying up liquidity, although the market experienced minimal activities from offshore investors.
US Federal Reserve announced a cautious policy rate hike due to easing prices and a strengthening US economy. This announcement helped calm market uncertainties as investors foresee a moderate policy hike.
The cedi opened the week at a mid-rate of ¢11.43 to a dollar and traded steadily, gaining 0.44% on the retail market. It also made weekly gains of 0.34% and 0.20% versus the pound and the euro on the retail market.
On the interbank market, the cedi slid marginally (-0.05%) against the American greenback, but strengthened against the pound (+0.75%) and the euro (+1.30%).
Presently, the local currency has lost about 11.23% to the dollar on the retail market and about 21% on the interbank market.

US agency suggests easing marijuana regulations
The US Department of Health and Human Services wants the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to make it easier for people to use marijuana by changing the national laws.
The drug is against the law for the whole country, even though 40 out of 50 states in the US have made their own laws allowing people to use it in certain ways.
Cannabis is currently categorized in the same group of drugs as heroin and LSD.
If the DEA changes how it categorizes drugs, it could be the biggest change in US drug policy in many years.
Cannabis is currently considered a very dangerous drug by the government. They say it has no medical benefits and is very likely to be abused.
The change to schedule 3 would make it similar to drugs that are considered less likely to be addictive or misused. Ketamine, codeine, and anabolic steroids belong to that category.
Last year, President Joe Biden requested his attorney general and health secretary to examine whether cannabis should be classified as a less harmful drug.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) submitted a proposal to the DEA on Tuesday.
HHS has done a scientific and medical evaluation for DEA to consider.
The DEA is in charge of deciding which drugs are classified as legal or illegal. They can also change the classification of a drug if necessary. The DEA will now start its review.
The HHS said that they finished a process in less than 11 months. They worked together and took charge to make sure that a thorough scientific evaluation was done quickly and shared with others.
The suggestion does not completely take cannabis off the list of controlled substances in the Controlled Substances Act. Some people want the government to remove the drug from the Controlled Substances Act and treat it like alcohol or tobacco.
If we reschedule it, more research can be done and banks can freely provide services to the cannabis industry. Right now, many marijuana businesses in the US have to only use cash because the law doesn’t allow banks to handle money made from certain drug sales.
Surveys show that most Americans are in favor of making the drug legal in some way.
Cannabis is allowed for adults to use for fun in 23 states, which includes all the states on the west coast and Washington DC. Medical use is allowed in 38 states. -

Signs to know when a woman is in her fertile period
Signs that can indicate when a woman is in her fertile window, which is the period when she is most likely to conceive, include:
- Changes in Cervical Mucus: As a woman approaches ovulation, her cervical mucus becomes thinner, clearer, and more slippery, resembling the consistency of raw egg whites. This type of mucus facilitates sperm movement and helps them survive longer in the reproductive tract.
- Basal Body Temperature (BBT) Rise: A woman’s basal body temperature, which is her lowest resting temperature, increases slightly after ovulation. Tracking this temperature over time can help pinpoint the time of ovulation.
- Ovulation Pain or Mittelschmerz: Some women experience a twinge or pain on one side of their lower abdomen during ovulation. This sensation is known as mittelschmerz and can help identify the fertile period.
- Increased Libido: Hormonal changes during the fertile window can lead to an increase in sexual desire.
- Breast Sensitivity: Hormonal shifts can cause breast tenderness or sensitivity in some women.
- Positive Ovulation Predictor Kit (OPK) Result: Ovulation predictor kits, available over-the-counter, detect a surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) that occurs just before ovulation.
- Changes in the Cervix: The cervix undergoes changes during the menstrual cycle. Around ovulation, the cervix becomes softer, higher, more open, and wetter.
- Mood Swings: Hormonal fluctuations can lead to mood changes, which some women may notice during their fertile window.
- Increased Saliva Ferning: Some women observe a fern-like pattern when their dried saliva is viewed under a microscope during their fertile period.
- Slight Abdominal Bloating: Hormonal changes might cause slight abdominal bloating or discomfort in some women.
- Increased Energy and Well-Being: Some women feel more energetic and positive during their fertile window due to hormonal changes.
It’s important to note that these signs can vary from woman to woman and cycle to cycle. Tracking these signs and using methods like charting your menstrual cycle, monitoring cervical mucus, and using ovulation prediction kits can help identify your fertile days more accurately. If you’re trying to conceive or avoid pregnancy, consider discussing these methods with a healthcare provider for personalized guidance.

Kwadwo Poku announces intention to run in presidential primary once more
Energy expert and a failed candidate in the NPP presidential race, Kwadwo Poku, has expressed his openness to a potential presidential candidacy in the future.
Poku, who participated in the super delegates conference but was excluded from the final five candidates out of the initial ten, affirmed his determination to continue pursuing the possibility of becoming the NPP’s presidential nominee.
He made the statements during an interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM’s Kwabena Agyapong.
Poku, who received only three votes, stated that he expected more votes because the delegates agreed to add him to the list of five.
According to him, the delegates he spoke with grumbled bitterly about neglect.
Some of them informed him that people who come to them for political power promise them heaven and earth, but when they obtain what they want, access to them becomes an issue.
Poku stated that he promised the delegates that he would provide them with greater leadership and that they would have easier access to him than the others.
However, he did not make the list of five, claiming that the outcome of Saturday’s election proved that the delegates did not support his policies and programmes.
He remarked that this has not discouraged him, but rather encouraged him to run the race again.
He claims that he has learned a lot from what has occurred and that he will not give up.

Four fishmongers detained for drying fish on public sidewalk released
The 4 fishmongers who were arrested for the continuous sun-drying of fresh herrings, commonly known as “Keta School Boys,” on public pavements near the Korle Lagoon, have been released following the payment of a fine of GH¢200 each.
Cecilia Klottey, Regina Okinkoi, Okailey Norrah Ayi, and Mercy Tetteh were taken into custody and their merchandise confiscated on Friday, August 25, by Environmental Health Officers from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
The AMA indicated that the actions of these women were subjecting the fish to vehicular smoke, potentially jeopardizing the fish’s quality and safety.
Florence Kuukyi, an Environmental Officer at the AMA, spoke with Citi News, revealing that the fishmongers were set free after satisfying the fine requirement and signing a commitment to refrain from drying fish on the pavement in the future.
“It is our responsibility to engage with the community to educate our clients about sanitation best practices, food hygiene, waste management, and other related matters. On August 25, a Friday, environmental officers, including myself, were conducting our routine house-to-house inspections and education. Upon returning, we noticed these women were drying herrings on the pavement. We apprehended them, collected and disposed of the fish. They paid a fine of GH¢200 each and agreed to sign an undertaking,” she explained.
The AMA has issued a stern caution to fishmongers, advising against the drying of fish on public pavements due to the associated health risks. The Assembly has also encouraged the public to promptly report any instances of such activities to the AMA.

Kelvyn Boy clears the air on allegations of beating his baby mama
Ghanaian artiste Kelvyn Boy has finally broken his silence on the allegations claiming he beat his baby mama, describing it as “the craziest rumour” he has encountered in his career.
During a recent interview on Hitz FM, the singer directly confronted the issue along with the unsettling image that circulated online pertaining to the alleged assault.
The image in question portrayed Kelvynboy alongside an unfamiliar woman with blood on her face, sparking conjecture that he had physically assaulted his baby mama.
Nevertheless, Kelvynboy disclosed that the image had been taken out of context, underscoring that he had no affiliation whatsoever with the woman depicted in the image.
He verified that an altercation indeed occurred between him and his baby mama, leading her to lodge an official complaint at a police station. However, he clarified that neither of them had been subjected to physical assault during the intense dispute.
Kelvynboy expressed bewilderment at the heightened portrayal of the incident and underscored that both his team and his baby mama were astonished by the exaggerated narrative. He suggested that the rumor had likely been fabricated for attention and content generation.
The composer of ‘Down Flat’ conveyed his exasperation at the potential impact such baseless rumors can have on his reputation and career trajectory.
Furthermore, he acknowledged contemplating staying silent on the matter, but recognized the necessity of addressing it in order to establish the facts accurately.
As a father of two, he accentuated the significance of fact-checking information prior to leaping to conclusions and propagating unfounded stories.

Russian and North Korean seriously negotiating in arms deal – US
Russia and North Korea are currently talking and making progress on a possible deal to supply a large amount of ammunition for various types of weapons, including artillery. This suggests that Russia is very eager to get more resources for its struggling invasion of Ukraine, as stated in the recently released intelligence report from the United States.
Despite North Korea saying otherwise, there is news of a possible deal.
The Biden administration is worried that two countries that are not liked by others are talking about weapons, and after a Russian government official visited North Korea last month, another group of Russian officials went there to talk more about a possible agreement.
Along with the second group, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have sent letters promising to work together more, says John Kirby, a coordinator in the National Security Council’s strategic communications team.Kirby expressed concerns about North Korea’s potential involvement in supporting Russia’s military actions in Ukraine. We also have new information that talks about weapons between Russia and North Korea are moving forward. “After these negotiations, important talks may continue in the coming months. ”
The Biden administration has made a start publically sharing newly obtained intelligence. This is meant to show how Russia is trying to avoid sanctions from Western countries and acquire weapons for its war. It is also a way to alert North Korea that the US is closely watching their actions. This is the strongest proof we have in a long time that Russia has been helping North Korea in their plan to invade Ukraine.
In these possible agreements, Russia would get a lot of weapons from North Korea, and they want to use them in Ukraine. These possible deals might also include giving Russia the materials it needs for its defense industry,” Kirby said. He promised that the US would punish any companies involved in a potential deal and asked North Korea to stop the negotiations.
Earlier this month, the United States government punished a group of people for helping Russia and North Korea illegally sell weapons.
Kirby also mentioned that Russia’s attempts to obtain weapons from countries like Iran and North Korea showed that Moscow was in trouble.
Kirby said that there is only one way to see that situation, and it is as desperate and weak. Simple as that.
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who represents the US in the United Nations, said on Wednesday that Russia and North Korea were discussing a weapons agreement.
Greenfield described it as “wrong” and a breaking of rules set by the Security Council that Russia agreed to.
Last year, Pyongyang sent rockets and missiles to a Russian group called Wagner, who are mercenaries. These were given to support their soldiers in Ukraine. Additionally, Western officials say that Iran has provided Russia with weapons for use in Ukraine. Iran and North Korea have said that the claims made about them are not true. -

US and Ghana join forces to support democracy in Niger – US Diplomat conveys to Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, held a meeting with a high-ranking American diplomat at the Jubilee House.
Per a social media update by Molly Phee, Assistant Secretary of State in the Africa Bureau at the US State Department, the discussions during the meeting included deliberations on the political circumstances in Niger, among other matters.
“Pleased to meet with President Akufo-Addo today in Accra. The U.S. and Ghana stand together for democracy in Niger,” she captioned her tweet before calling on the military junta to preserve constitutional order.
The junta is known as Conseil National pour la Sauvegarde de la Patrie (CNSP) or the National Council for Saveguarding the Homeland.
“We call on the CNSP to preserve constitutional order and to release President Bazoum and his family,” the diplomat’s post added.
It was accompanied by two photos of her meeting with the president.
Niger’s democratically elected president Mohamed Bazoum was removed by the Abdourahmane Tchiani-led junta on July 26.
A threat by the regional bloc to remove them by force has led to tensions in the country as their three-year transition has roundly been rejected by ECOWAS.

Meet Bongo Ali’s own cousin who led his overthrow in Gabon
Brice Clothaire Oligui Nguema, the commander-in-chief of the Gabonese Republican Guard, has emerged as the leader of the military junta responsible for ousting President Ali Bongo Ondimba on August 30, 2023. Nguema’s swift ascendancy within the country’s power dynamics marks a significant shift from electoral processes to military intervention.
According to a report by aljazeera.com, Nguema, a cousin of former President Ali Bongo, played a prominent role in orchestrating the overturn of the election results. His influence, the report details, is the result of a unique blend of military expertise, diplomatic engagements, and entrepreneurial pursuits.
Raised in a family with military roots, Nguema’s journey led him to the Royal Military Academy of Meknes in Morocco, where he honed his skills. He later served as an “aide-de-camp” to a commander within the Republican Guard during the presidency of former leader Omar Bongo.
Following the passing of Omar Bongo in 2009 and the subsequent rise of Ali Bongo, Nguema embarked on diplomatic missions to Morocco and Senegal before assuming leadership of the Republican Guard a decade later. The Republican Guard, distinguishable by their distinctive green berets, is entrusted with the vital responsibility of ensuring presidential security.
Nguema’s commitment to his role was reportedly expressed through a song he composed, vowing to defend the president with “honor and loyalty.” He was also known to be active within Gabonese entrepreneurial circles and was believed to have amassed significant wealth.
In 2020, an investigation by The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) highlighted Nguema’s real estate investments in the United States, where he acquired properties using substantial amounts of cash.
Recent media statements attributed to Nguema shed light on his motivations for participating in the coup attempt. In an interview with French newspaper Le Monde, he voiced concerns about Ali Bongo’s health following a stroke in 2018, suggesting it contributed to political discontent. Nguema accused the government of violating the constitution and criticized the electoral process.
Proposing a transition of power, Nguema suggested that Bongo could retire and enjoy his rights as a Gabonese citizen.
As of now, President Ali Bongo remains under house arrest following the annulled election in which he secured over 64% of the vote. Brice Clothaire Oligui Nguema’s ascendancy as the junta leader raises questions about the future of Gabon’s political landscape and the dynamics between military authority and democratic processes.

Ablakwa criticizes ousted Ali Bongo’s call for attention to his arrest amid Gabon coup
MP representing the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has raised doubts about the impact of former Gabonese President Ali Bongo’s appeal for assistance shortly following his removal by a military junta.
Ablakwa’s criticism was based on the observation that shortly before his removal from power, Ali Bongo had taken actions such as internet shutdowns and the prohibition of certain media channels like RFI, TV Monde, and France 24.
Ablakwa pointed out that the restriction on media activities casts doubt on the viability of Bongo’s plea for global assistance, as creating awareness and generating public concern necessitate access to information dissemination platforms like the internet and media organizations.
“Gabon’s Ali Bongo who is calling for noise appears to have forgotten that a few days ago he shut down the internet & banned critical media such as RFI, TV Monde & France 24.
“How can noise make an impact without media & internet?
“True Democracy benefits both rulers & the ruled,” he said in a Twitter post on August 30, 2023.
In the wake of a coup, former President Ali Bongo released a video message appealing for international assistance following his abrupt removal from office by the military.
Bongo’s plea was shared on social media in a 51-second video, where he is seen speaking from an undisclosed location within the presidential palace.
The former president urged his global allies to “make noise” against his arrest, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, August 30.
This plea was accompanied by confirmation that he is currently isolated within the palace, his wife detained elsewhere, and his son taken into custody by the junta.

Philippines home warehouse consumed by fatal fire
At least 15 people died in a fire at a house that was being used as a factory in the Metro Manila area, according to local authorities as reported by CNN Philippines.
Marcelo Ragundiaz, the head of the fire brigade in Barangay Tandang Sora district, said that a child of the homeowner, whose age was not mentioned, was one of the people who died in the fire in Quezon City. The homeowner said that at least three people, including himself, managed to get away.
Ragundiaz said that the place was being used as a place to print T-shirts. He said the fire probably began in the middle of the building, making it difficult for most people inside to get out.
CNN could not confirm the information about the incident because they couldn’t reach the Bureau of Fire Protection and the local authorities in Quezon City to get the details.
The government of Quezon City will check if a homeowner broke any rules about building and fire safety. They will also find out if the homeowner had permission to use their property for business purposes. CNN Philippines gave this information.
This happened a few days after 10 people got burns and cuts from a fire in a neighborhood in Quezon City, as reported by CNN Philippines. -

China’s neighbours upset with its new national map
The Philippines, alongside Malaysia and India, is unhappy with China‘s new national map because it seems like China is claiming their land.
China released a new version of its national map on Monday, which it has been doing since at least 2006, to fix what Beijing has previously called “problematic maps” that it believes incorrectly depict its boundaries.
The Philippines stated on Thursday that they did not accept the map because it showed a dashed line around disputed parts of the South China Sea. This line was part of a ruling by an international tribunal in 2016, which supported the Philippines’ claims.
The Philippines Foreign Affairs department said that the map is China’s recent attempt to make it seem like they have power and control over Philippine areas and waters. However, this is not supported by international law.
India was the first to express unhappiness on Tuesday by strongly objecting to China including the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and the disputed Aksai-Chin territory as part of its own territory.
India’s foreign secretary, Arindam Bagchi, said that we have expressed our strong disagreement with China through diplomatic channels about their map claiming India’s land in 2023. “We disagree with these statements since they lack any proof or foundation. ”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malaysia disagreed with China’s claims and said that Malaysia does not accept any foreign party’s ownership or control of Malaysia’s maritime features.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin responded to the complaints during a press briefing on Wednesday. He said that the changes made were a normal practice of exercising control within the country’s laws.
“He added that he hopes everyone involved can stay fair-minded and calm, and avoid making too many assumptions about the issue. ”
Since becoming the leader in 2012, Xi Jinping has tried to make China very powerful worldwide. He has been aggressive in dealing with other countries and has made bold moves in important areas in Asia. The argument over the map happened a few days after the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Xi met in South Africa. During their meeting, they agreed to work harder to reduce tensions at their disputed border. This was seen as a positive step towards improving their strained relationship.
This happened after India and China talked for the 19th time to sort out their border problem. It happened before there might be a meeting between Modi and Xi at the G20 summit in New Delhi next week – if Xi goes to the summit.
Although it seems like progress is being made in their border disputes, experts say that may not always be true.
Akhil Ramesh, a senior fellow at the Pacific Forum, a foreign policy research institute in Honolulu, said that India and China try to resolve their differences, but it seems like they make little progress and often face setbacks.
In this situation, even though both sides may say they want to reduce tensions, I don’t think it will actually happen. Both countries want to become leaders in the southern part of the world, and they are both working hard to achieve this.
Borders have caused problems between New Delhi and Beijing for a long time, and conflicts in the area have led to war in the past, which China won in 1962. Over the years, a border known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC) has divided two very populated countries.
The two countries had more problems in 2020 after a big fight in the Galwan Valley. This place is near Aksai Chin, an area controlled by China but both countries say it belongs to them. Tensions have been building up since then and recently became more serious in December when there was a clash between soldiers from both sides in the Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh, causing minor injuries.
While there are problems between Beijing and New Delhi, politicians from India’s main opposition party, Congress, have criticized Modi for not taking the border issue seriously.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that China frequently changes the names and boundaries of territories that belong to other countries. The Modi government needs to make sure that the Chinese occupation of 2,000 square kilometers of Indian land along the LAC is stopped and ended.
Lawmaker Rahul Gandhi told the reporters on Wednesday that he has been saying for a long time that the prime minister was not telling the truth when he claimed that no land was lost in Ladakh.
Everyone in Ladakh knows that China has taken our land. This map problem is very important. the prime minister should talk about it,” he added.
Modi has mostly stayed away from talking about the border problem, even going on live TV and claiming that no one has entered or is entering the country.
But India has taken some actions to resist potential dangers from China. They have prohibited the use of popular Chinese apps like TikTok on social media because they believe these apps may harm their independence and unity. Additionally, they are also preventing Chinese telecom companies Huawei and ZTE from providing their 5G network.
With a growing sense of patriotism in both countries, New Delhi has become more worried about China’s increasing assertiveness. This worry has strengthened India’s relationship with the United States, particularly through the Quad – a group consisting of Japan, the US, India, and Australia, which is seen as a way to balance China’s power.
China refused to attend a G20 tourism meeting organized by India in the Himalayan territory of Jammu and Kashmir. They did this because they disagree with having any G20 meetings in disputed areas. Both India and Pakistan say that they own the disputed region of Kashmir completely. -

Rtd. Major Boakye Gyan reportedly dead
The nation mourns the loss of retired Major Kwadwo Boakye Gyan, who reportedly passed away on Wednesday, August 30, following a brief illness. His death marks the end of a life intertwined with pivotal moments in Ghana’s history.
Retired Major Boakye Gyan is most notably remembered for his role in the 1979 uprising, a watershed event that led to the overthrow of the Supreme Military Council (SMC II) regime. He played a crucial role as a key member of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), orchestrating the release of then junior officer Jerry John Rawlings from custody.
During his military career, Major Boakye Gyan went on a self-imposed exile during a significant portion of the Rawlings regime. It was only during the presidency of John Agyekum Kufuor that he returned to Ghana.
Notably, Major Boakye Gyan transitioned into politics and aligned himself with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His commitment to public service was evident as he stepped into the political arena, becoming the NDC’s 2012 Parliamentary Candidate for the Jaman South Constituency.
In a closely contested election, he stood against the incumbent Member of Parliament, Yaw Afful. Despite his efforts, Major Boakye Gyan faced electoral defeat, marking a chapter of his journey that showcased both the challenges and dynamism of the democratic process.
As the nation reflects on his passing, Major Kwadwo Boakye Gyan’s legacy remains intertwined with Ghana’s historical tapestry. You shut down the internet, banned some media house and want us to make noise – Ablakwa berates Ali Bongo
Following the swift ousting of former Gabonese President Ali Bongo by a military junta, doubts have been raised about the effectiveness of Bongo’s international appeal for support. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament representing the North Tongu constituency, has brought attention to Bongo’s recent actions that seem to contradict his call for assistance.
Ablakwa’s criticism stems from the fact that shortly before his removal from office, Bongo had undertaken measures that included the shutdown of internet services and the banning of several critical media outlets, such as RFI, TV Monde, and France 24. These actions have ignited skepticism about the viability of Bongo’s plea for international backing, as effective outcry and noise require unimpeded access to information and communication platforms, including the internet and media channels.
In a tweet posted on August 30, 2023, Ablakwa articulated his concerns, stating, “Gabon’s Ali Bongo who is calling for noise appears to have forgotten that a few days ago he shut down the internet & banned critical media such as RFI, TV Monde & France 24. How can noise make an impact without media & internet? True Democracy benefits both rulers & the ruled.”
In the aftermath of the coup that led to his removal, former President Ali Bongo released a video message in which he appealed for international intervention. The message was disseminated through social media via a 51-second video clip, where Bongo can be seen speaking from an undisclosed location within the presidential palace.
Expressing urgency, Bongo implored his international allies to “make noise” in protest against his arrest, which had taken place in the early hours of Wednesday, August 30. Bongo’s plea was accompanied by his acknowledgment that he is currently isolated within the palace, with his wife detained separately, and his son apprehended by the junta.
As the situation unfolds in Gabon, questions linger over the practical impact of Bongo’s call for support in the face of media censorship and internet shutdowns, leaving observers to weigh the potential outcomes of international responses against the backdrop of restricted information flow.

Public safety, order in danger – Police on why they stopped ‘Occupy BoG’ demo
The Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has successfully obtained an injunction to halt a planned demonstration by the Minority in Parliament, citing disagreements over the intended route for the protest scheduled for Tuesday.
The Minority had announced their intentions to stage a protest dubbed ‘Occupy BoG’ on September 5th, with the primary goal of demanding the resignation of Dr. Ernest Yedu Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), along with his two deputies.
The planned demonstration involved a march from the Parliament House to the headquarters of the Central Bank. This march was intended to intensify the Minority’s call for the resignations of the Bank’s top officials.
However, the police raised concerns regarding the proposed route, particularly highlighting the Central Bank’s headquarters as a designated security zone. The police engaged with the organizers on August 23rd, pledging security arrangements to uphold their constitutional right to protest. Despite this, they expressed reservations about the selected routes, citing potential risks to public order and safety.
Responding to these concerns, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, penned a response on August 28th, in which he rejected the alternative routes proposed by the police. He underscored the significance of concluding their protest at the Bank of Ghana’s headquarters, referring to it as a matter of both security and the Ghana Police Service’s motto of “Service and Integrity.”
Before a resolution could be reached, the police succeeded in obtaining a High Court injunction on August 30th against the impending demonstration. The injunction, pursued by Superintendent of Police (SP) Isaac Yeboah, specifically targeted key figures within the Minority, including Dr. Ato Forson, Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Masawudu Mahamah, Bernard Mornah, and Rex Omar. These individuals are all associated with Arise Ghana, a group that had declared its participation in the planned protest.
The High Court has slated a hearing on this matter for Monday, September 4th. The situation has garnered significant attention, raising discussions about the delicate balance between the right to protest, public safety considerations, and security concerns. Observers are keenly awaiting the outcomes of the scheduled hearing and its potential implications for future demonstrations.

Totally unacceptable – Boakye Agyarko says as he steps down from NPP flagbearer slot re-run
In a shocking turn of events, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has withdrawn from the party’s special run-off election slated for September 2, 2023. Agyarko’s decision comes amidst allegations that the party’s Presidential Elections Committee’s handling of the run-off contravenes the party’s constitution and established election guidelines.
The NPP’s run-off election was initiated to break the tie between Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko and Francis Addai Nimoh, both of whom garnered 9 votes each in the previous special delegates election held on August 26, 2023. This election saw the candidate pool narrowed down from ten to five. The upcoming run-off, originally intended to decide the final flagbearer for the 2024 election, has now been thrown into turmoil with Agyarko’s sudden withdrawal.
“It is totally unacceptable to me that such an unconstitutional act can be perpetuated on the altar of expediency. Am I to surmise that the party did not know the cost implication?
“It is unconscionable that the rules of the game will be changed midstream. Rules and regulations that are flip-flopped in such a manner is only detrimental to fair play and justice.
Agyarko, in his withdrawal statement dated August 31, 2023, expressed vehement opposition to the decision made by the Presidential Elections Committee. He decried the limitation imposed on the number of delegates eligible to participate in the run-off vote, considering it a violation of the party’s constitution and the established guidelines for the election. Agyarko pointed out that altering the rules of the election midway undermines fair play and justice, characterizing the decision as “unconstitutional” and “errant.”
“I refuse to be a part of such an act that seeks to unjustly truncate a previously agreed-upon process,” Agyarko stated. He emphasized that he cannot, in good conscience, lend his support to what he sees as an infringement on the party’s democratic procedures.
Agyarko went on to challenge the validity of the altered run-off election, contending that the originally established procedure should be upheld. He argued that the Special Electoral College, charged with shortlisting candidates, must consist of the full complement specified in the party’s constitution. Agyarko maintained that substituting this list with another group is beyond the authority of any individual or committee.
The withdrawal of a prominent contender like Agyarko introduces uncertainty into the NPP’s already complex candidate selection process. As of now, it remains unclear how the party leadership will respond to Agyarko’s withdrawal and the allegations of constitutional breach. With the November 4, 2023 final flagbearer election approaching, the NPP faces the challenge of reconciling internal dissent and ensuring a fair and transparent candidate selection process.
“The position of the run-off scheduled for Saturday, 2nd September, 2023 was reaffirmed by the Chairman of the Elections Committee during your address to the party after the first round of the Special College elections, where you stated that candidates who voted in the first round will be the ones to vote in the second round.
“The constitutional Special Electoral College with the mandate to short-list the list of aspirants is and can be none other than the full compliment listed under Article 13, Clause (9). It is not within the province or power of anybody to truncate this list and substitute it with anything else,” he stated.

Plants that serve as natural contraceptives
While various plants have been traditionally used for their potential contraceptive properties, it’s important to note that these natural methods might not be as reliable as modern contraceptives. Additionally, scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness is often limited. If you’re considering using natural methods for contraception, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional to make an informed decision. Here are some plants that have been suggested to have contraceptive properties:
- Neem (Azadirachta indica): Neem has been used traditionally as a natural contraceptive. It is believed to have spermicidal properties that could potentially inhibit sperm movement and fertilization.
- Queen Anne’s Lace (Daucus carota): Also known as wild carrot, the seeds of Queen Anne’s lace have been historically used for contraception. However, their effectiveness is uncertain.
- Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium): Pennyroyal has been used in some cultures as an abortifacient and contraceptive. However, it’s important to note that pennyroyal oil can be toxic and dangerous.
- Stoneseed Root (Lithospermum ruderale): Stoneseed root has been used in traditional medicine as a contraceptive. Some studies suggest it might have an anti-implantation effect.
- Smartweed (Polygonum hydropiper): Smartweed has been studied for its potential contraceptive properties. Some compounds found in smartweed may have anti-implantation effects.
- Cotton Root Bark (Gossypium spp.): Some Native American tribes used cotton root bark as a contraceptive. It’s believed to have properties that could affect uterine contractions and implantation.
- Wild Yam (Dioscorea spp.): Wild yam has been suggested to have contraceptive properties due to its hormone-like compounds. However, scientific evidence is limited.
- Silphium: An ancient plant used by the Greeks and Romans for contraception. It’s believed to be extinct, so its effects cannot be studied today.
It’s important to reiterate that these plants and methods should not be solely relied upon for contraception. Modern, evidence-based contraceptive methods, prescribed by healthcare professionals, are much more reliable and effective in preventing pregnancy.

Unlike her usual routine of having a glass of wine or champagne after performances, she has opted to abstain from alcohol on this tour, the source claims.
“Beyonce has not been drinking this entire [Renaissance] tour.” the source said.
“Usually she has a glass of wine or champagne after she completes her set, but that didn’t happen here.”
Evidently, in a manner reminiscent of her previous pregnancy, Rihanna embarked on a tour as well. The insider suggests that the atmosphere within Beyoncé’s circle is mirroring this similarity.
Adding more credence to the news, a recent video clip capturing Beyoncé’s performance seems to reveal a noticeable baby bump.
Should the reports hold true, this would mark the fourth child for Beyoncé and Jay-Z, following their previous children: Blue Ivy and the twins, Rumi and Sir.
Seemingly, congratulations are certainly in order!
