President of South Africa to attend Cairo Gaza conflict summit

The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, is going to a meeting in Cairo to talk about ways to stop the fighting between Israel and Gaza.

Egypt’s president invited him to participate in discussions. The talks will focus on the growing conflict in Israel and the Gaza Strip, the immediate need for humanitarian aid, and the request to restart the peace process. These details were mentioned in a statement released by the South African presidency.

It was reported that Mr. Ramaphosa is very worried about the attacks on innocent people, the forcing of people out of their homes, and the severe problems faced by people in the Gaza Strip.

The South African leader previously stated that he was willing to help resolve the disagreement between Israel and the Palestinian territories.

He said his country could use its knowledge of solving problems in Africa and other places.

  • India conducts important test flights prior to astronauts space mission

India conducts important test flights prior to astronauts space mission

The space agency of India will soon start important tests before sending astronauts into space in 2025.

The Gaganyaan spacecraft will be launched on Saturday at 08:00 in Sriharikota.

The test will show if the crew can safely get out of the rocket if it doesn’t work correctly.

If it works, it will make it possible for other missions without people, including sending a robot into space next year.

We will only send a mission with three astronauts into low-Earth orbit after we finish all these tests. The government said it will probably happen in 2025.

The Gaganyaan project, which means “craft or vehicle to the sky” in Sanskrit, was created at a cost of 90 billion rupees ($1 billion; £897 million). The goal is to launch the astronauts into space 400km above Earth and bring them back safely after three days. If India is successful, it will be the fourth country to send a person into space, following the Soviet Union, the US, and China.

Before that, the space agency Isro has to show that the capsule carrying humans can come back home safely. Saturday’s flight, known as Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1 (or TV-D1) by Isro, will try to do that.

The head of ISRO, S Somanath, has said that they will be testing the spaceship’s “escape system for the crew” which is a very important part of the spaceship.

Mr Somanath said that if something goes wrong with the rocket, we can make sure the crew stays safe by moving them at least 2km (1. 2 miles) away from the rocket that’s exploding.

“After the rocket goes up in the air, when it reaches a height of 12km to 16km, we will activate the safety system and separate the crew escape system from it,” he explained.

According to the Isro website, some parachutes will be used to help the module land safely in the waters of Bay of Bengal, about 10km away from the Sriharikota coast.

The Indian navy will be nearby with a ship and a group of divers. They will retrieve the module and bring it back to land safely.

The space agency says that the “short duration” test will take about nine minutes.
The craft has been equipped with cameras and instruments that will collect information and pictures. Isro claims that this data will be useful for future tests and the final Gaganyaan mission.

If the test on Saturday goes well, Isro will then send a robot that looks like a human in a spacecraft called Gaganyaan next year, according to junior minister for science Jitendra Singh. Isro introduced Vyommitra, a female humanoid, in 2019. The word “Vyommitra” means “space friend” in Sanskrit.

The agency also showed pictures of Indian air force pilots who were selected to be part of the crew. They mentioned that the pilots were going through a lot of physical exercises, lab tests, X-rays, medical tests, and assessments of their mindset.

Isro recently shared pictures of their rocket on a social media platform called X. They also shared a picture that shows the path the rocket will take from its launch to when it lands in the ocean.

Saturday’s upcoming test has gotten a lot of attention in India, even though it’s happening pretty late compared to when astronauts from the Soviet Union and the US started going to the low Earth orbit in 1961. In October 2003, China became the third country to go to space. They sent a mission that lasted 21 hours and circled the Earth 14 times. The US and China have space stations in orbit around Earth that are fully working.

In 1984, an astronaut from India named Rakesh Sharma went to space. He spent 21 days and 40 minutes on a Russian spacecraft.

But people are interested in Isro’s planned test on Saturday because it’s happening soon after India made a historic achievement by being the first country to land near the Moon’s south pole on 23 August 2023.

A few weeks later, India sent its first observation mission to the Sun, called Aditya-L1. According to India’s space agency, it will travel a distance of 1. 5 million km (932,000 miles) from Earth, which is about 1% of the distance between the Earth and the Sun. It is expected to reach its intended destination in mid-January.

This week, India announced big goals for space. They plan to build a space station by 2035 and send one of their own astronauts to the Moon by 2040.

  • Police in Haiti detain key suspect in President Jovenel Moise’s slaying

Police in Haiti detain key suspect in President Jovenel Moise’s slaying

Haitian police caught and arrested a former official from the justice ministry. They believe this person is responsible for planning and commanding the killing of President Jovenel Moise.

Joseph Felix Badio was caught while leaving a supermarket parking lot in the main city, Port-au-Prince.

In 2021, Mr. Moise was killed in his bedroom by hired attackers from Colombia. Many of them have been caught or died.

When he died, Haiti faced a long political problem and lots of crime happened, which it had never experienced before.

In just a few months, bad guys took control of the city, including important things like its buildings and a place where fuel is stored.

Mr Badio is being accused of telling people to hurt someone. He is being accused of killing someone, trying to kill someone and stealing with a weapon.

According to the local news, Mr. Badio was fired from his job in the justice ministry a few months before the assassination because it was believed that he took a bribe to set a prisoner free.

Some of the hired killers who were arrested a few hours after the murder claimed that Mr. Badio, who is 60 years old, had instructed them to carry out the crime.

Other people involved in the case have been found guilty in the United States. Some of the people involved are John Joel Joseph, who used to be a senator in Haiti, and Rodolphe Jaar, a businessman from Haiti and Chile.

The US has also blamed Antonio Intriago, a Venezuelan-American man who runs a security company in Florida called CTU Security, for hiring the assassins. He is accused of planning to either kill or kidnap someone.

Haiti’s government, which was not elected, has been facing difficulties in providing essential services ever since Mr. Moise passed away.

According to a recent report from the United Nations, gangs have gained power over a large portion of the capital city. They are in charge of schools and clinics, but they also scare and harm the people living there and engage in conflicts over territory.

Many Haitians have left their homes in Port-au-Prince because there is a lot of violence. Many people have died this year already.

The UN recently approved sending a group of international troops to help the police in Haiti. However, not many countries have sent their own soldiers yet, and the plan has not happened yet.

Kenya was given approval this month to lead a team of many countries to help bring back order.

Kikibees CEO to be laid to rest on December 10

The final funeral rites for the late Bennett Adomah Agyekum, CEO of Kikibees and Noire Lounge, have been scheduled for December 9th and 10th, 2023. The family announced these dates during his one-week observation. The funeral rites will be held at the forecourt of the East Legon Executive Clubhouse in Accra.

The one-week memorial service for Bennett Agyekum took place on Thursday, October 19, 2023, and was attended by close friends and family. The event had tight security, and media coverage was restricted, with journalists denied the opportunity to film or take photos.

The police’s findings, presented in court, stated that claims of foul play, such as stabbing or shooting, were untrue. According to the police reports, Bennett became hyperactive after taking substances and had an altercation with his girlfriend, who later left the scene due to his threats. Bennett was found on the floor with marks on his arms and blood from his nose, suggesting he had fallen.

However, the family rejected the police’s findings, insisting that Bennett had no reason to commit suicide or jeopardize his life. His younger brother believed he was assassinated, and the family disputed the police’s conclusions.

Mam Yandey Joof, Bennett Agyekum’s girlfriend, was arrested and provisionally charged with murder. She has been remanded into police custody, with her plea reserved for a later date. Her lawyer maintained her innocence, stating that the truth would prevail in due time.

  • 45,000 hens burns in Mozambique to combat bird flu

45,000 hens burns in Mozambique to combat bird flu

Officials in southern Mozambique have killed, burned, and buried over 45,000 hens to stop the spread of bird flu.

The birds were brought in from South Africa, which has seen a large number of cases of the disease.

The disease has now spread to a district called Morrumbene in Mozambique’s southern province of Inhambane.

Officials are trying to control it as worries increase that it could move to different areas of the country.

Bird flu is a sickness that can spread among chickens, ducks, and other birds in the wild.

This disease can spread quickly among groups of pet birds in just a few days. It can be transmitted through their droppings, spit, or by consuming contaminated food and water.

The outbreak has caused a lack of eggs and chickens, and prices have gone up a lot in recent days in Mozambique, including in the main city Maputo.

The cost of chicken has almost doubled, going from 350 Mozambican metical to 600. Similarly, the price of a dozen eggs has increased from 100 metical to 150.

The 45,000 chickens that were burned had been around chickens in South Africa that had bird flu, according to Américo da Conceição, Mozambique’s National Director of Livestock Development.

The chickens were brought to Mozambique specifically to lay eggs.

South Africa has been dealing with a severe bird flu problem. To control it, poultry farmers had to kill seven million hens that lay eggs. This accounts for about 20-30% of all the hens in the country. The South African Poultry Association provided this information.

The spread of the disease has made it difficult to find enough eggs and chicken meat in the country.

Mr Da Conceicao said that Mozambique has stopped allowing chickens and chicken-related products, like eggs and chicken feed, to be imported from South Africa.

The government has also banned the movement of chickens, eggs, and animal feed from Morrumbene, which is the main area affected by the outbreak, to other places in Mozambique.

Officials said the chickens were cooked to stop people from taking and eating them after they were killed.

  • Kwami Eugene explains why Nigerians don’t play Ghanaian songs

Kwami Eugene explains why Nigerians don’t play Ghanaian songs

Ghanaian Afrobeat singer-songwriter, Kwami Eugene, has shed light on the reason why Ghanaian music is not often played at Nigerian events.

He recounted an experience where he visited Nigeria and heard a Nigerian DJ playing a Ghanaian song, but this occurred in the early hours of the morning.

He explained that Nigerians have numerous artists and music options of their own, which may be one of the reasons Ghanaian music is not frequently featured in their shows.

“I was in Nigeria and we were asking some friends why they don’t play Ghanaian songs, and he was like ‘Charley, we are many ooo’. Before they will finish playing theirs, then their time will be up,” Kwami Eugene said.

Kwami Eugene elaborated on the limited opportunities for playing Ghanaian songs in Nigeria, emphasizing that the vast number of Nigerian artists in their music industry leaves little room for Ghanaian music to be widely featured at Nigerian events.

“And it’s not like we live in a country where we drop one song at a time. More people are releasing songs, but our system is one person at a time., where there can be more room for everybody to shine,” he said.

Kwami Eugene expressed his concern about the music industry in Ghana, particularly regarding female artists. He pointed out that it’s challenging for multiple female artists to simultaneously achieve success in the Ghanaian music scene.

“You can see only one for a very long time. Then you will see another lady crawling and we will have some small space for her then she will be there for some time before you see another lady crawling. But we have female artists putting music together in this country. But they will tell you the guys are not even finding it easy,” he revealed.

The highlife artist revealed that he wished the case wouldn’t be like only the guys will be making waves more than the ladies but everyone should be pushed and given space once the song is nice.

“But we spend our Twitter attacking each other more than spreading good news about each other,” he said.

  • Egypt becomes Gaza’s final remaining route out

Egypt becomes Gaza’s final remaining route out

Egypt is being urged to take action as Gaza, which is located nearby, is getting heavily attacked by Israel. This is happening because of the violent attack that Hamas carried out in Israel on October 7th.

After Hamas attacked, Israel stopped people from going in or out of Gaza and stopped them from getting fuel, electricity and water.

This means that the Rafah crossing is the only way for people to leave Gaza and for supplies to come into it.

However, the crossing has been shut for most of the previous week. Both people from Gaza and foreigners are unable to go across. Additionally, a large amount of important aid for the people in Gaza is accumulating on the Egyptian side of the border.

An official from Palestine said to CNN that Egypt closed the gates of the border by using concrete blocks. Egypt said that reports of them closing their side of the crossing are not true. They also mentioned that the Palestinian side of the crossing was damaged by Israeli airstrikes many times.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, said to CNN on Saturday that while the crossing was open, the roads on the Gaza side were not working because of bombings from the air.

The Biden administration spoke with Israel and Egypt to make sure that Americans and other people can leave Gaza safely.

But Egypt is worried about the idea of many Palestinian refugees coming to live in the country, especially since there are already many migrants there. Over two million Palestinians live in Gaza, a crowded coastal area that is being heavily bombed by Israel.

Israel’s military wants the 1. 1 million people living in northern Gaza to leave their homes and go south, says the United Nations. Israel also has 300,000 reserve soldiers at the border, which suggests they may plan to attack on the ground.

Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 and caused the death of 1,300 people. In response, Israel retaliated and has killed 2,329 people in Gaza. As the fighting gets worse and Israel blocks important things from getting in, organizations that protect people’s rights are worried that a big disaster might happen to the people in need.

There are people and things that are unable to cross the border.

Usually, very few people can pass through the Rafah crossing. Only people from Gaza who have permission and foreigners are allowed to use it to go between Gaza and Egypt. However, the border has been completely closed off recently.

Western countries are trying hard to open the crossing in Gaza and get their citizens out. The United States told its citizens in the area to go to Rafah if the crossing opens and they can do so safely.

At the same time, many Palestinians from other countries came to the border, but they had to wait on the streets for a long time, said the Palestinian border official on Saturday.

“Sorry, the crossing is not open. ” The official said that no traveler, whether they have Arab or foreign residency or not, is allowed to cross the border.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Sunday that Egypt agreed to let Americans pass through Rafah. However, Hamas prevented a group of these Americans from crossing.

A news channel called Alqahera News, which is controlled by the government, said on Saturday that Egypt is not allowing people from the US and other countries to use the crossing. This is because there is no agreement yet about helping the strip with aid, according to sources from Egypt.

At the same time, aid is being sent to Egypt and diplomatic efforts are being made to help people in Gaza.

Helpful planes from Jordan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the World Health Organization, and the Red Cross have reached the Egyptian city of El-Arish. This city is around 45 kilometers (23 miles) away from Rafah. This news was shown on Egyptian state television on Saturday.

According to an official from the Egyptian Red Crescent, they have lots of supplies in their warehouses to help people in need. They have also made arrangements to store more aid in the El-Arish stadium.

According to Tedros Ghebreyesus, the head of WHO, a plane from the World Health Organization arrived in Egypt on Saturday. The plane was carrying medical supplies. However, the group is still waiting to be allowed to pass through the border for humanitarian reasons.

Shoukry explained that Egypt has attempted to send help to Gaza, but they haven’t been given the right permission to do it.

Egypt announced on Sunday that it will work harder to assist relief organizations in providing aid to Gaza. However, the Egyptian presidency made it clear that protecting national security is of utmost importance and cannot be compromised.

During a military graduation ceremony, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi compared the current situation in his country to a house surrounded by a neighborhood that is engulfed in flames. He said that rumors about Egypt not wanting to help the Palestinians are not true.

“We are ensuring that assistance, such as medical or humanitarian help, reaches the strip during this challenging period,” Sisi stated. He also expressed his sympathy.

However, he cautioned that there are only certain things Egypt can do to offer assistance.

Of course we understand and feel sorry for you. But we need to be cautious and think wisely in order to achieve peace and safety without spending too much, he said. Egypt already has 9 million migrants living there. The biggest groups in the country’s migrant population come from Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Libya, as stated in a report by the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration in 2022.

Egypt’s government said that Israel’s request for people to leave their homes is against the rules of how to treat people in a time of war. They said that this would risk the lives of over 1 million Palestinians.

The Jordanian official said to CNN on Thursday that Jordan and Egypt are putting pressure on the Israeli government to let aid go into Gaza through the Rafah crossing.

Egyptian media outlets are worried about the idea of letting Palestinian refugees come into the country. They are afraid it could cause Gazans to be moved out of Sinai against their will.

Sisi agreed with those feelings on Thursday. He said that there is a big danger for Gaza which could bring an end to the Palestinian cause. It is important for the people of Gaza to stay strong and keep living on their land.

Jordan’s King Abdullah met with Blinken on Friday. He cautioned against any efforts to remove or displace Palestinians from their territories.

Most of the people living in Gaza today are Palestinians who were forced to leave their homes during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war when Israel took control of their land. The war that happened resulted in the creation of Israel. However, Palestinians feel very sad about it and call it the Nakba, which means “catastrophe. ” This is because over 700,000 Palestinians were either kicked out or had to run away from their homes in what is now Israel.

Many thousands of Palestinians went to live in Gaza after the war when it came under the control of Egypt. Israel took control of a piece of land from Egypt during the war in 1967 and started moving Jewish people there. However, in 2005, Israel removed its soldiers and settlements from that area.

  • Ghana appeals to the IMF to help fight corruption

Ghana appeals to the IMF to help fight corruption

Ghana has submitted a request to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for technical assistance to address issues related to corruption. This request aligns with Ghana’s commitments under the $3 billion IMF program, from which Ghana is expecting a second tranche of $600 million in November. The IMF program aims to address Ghana’s current economic challenges and promote transparency and anti-corruption efforts in the country.

As part of this program, the Ghanaian government has requested IMF technical assistance to conduct a governance corruption diagnostic assessment. This assessment will contribute to ongoing efforts to update the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan. Additionally, the government is expected to address weaknesses in the existing asset declaration system for public officials by enacting a new Conduct of Public Officers Act.

The IMF’s African Department Director, Abebe Aemro Selassie, provided an update on Ghana’s progress during a press briefing at the IMF-World Bank meetings in Marrakech, Morocco. This initiative is part of Ghana’s commitment to promoting good governance and combating corruption as outlined in the IMF program.

“On the governance diagnostic report, I think the request has been made [but] I’m not sure where we are in terms of being able to provide that, but as soon as we have the resources, we will do that. And it’s just a matter of time I believe.”

Meanwhile, the IMF says it will provide all that is needed to the creditors, so Ghana can get the second tranche of IMF cash and move the programme forward.

“Action is also needed from the creditor side and I have to tell you that, you know, whereas it took I think something like 9 months or more for Zambia to get the official creditor committee to be created, in Ghana’s case it was fairly rapid. So that’s what allowed us to go to the board and get the programme approved. And we’re very hopeful that the ongoing discussions among official creditors will also expeditiously allow us to conclude the upcoming review. Again the most recent Mission you know reached an agreement with the government on policies that are needed to tackle the most recent issues and also put in place an important budget for next year. So Ghana has done its fair share, and it’s for creditors to take steps, and we’re not going to be asking the government to do more adjustments because creditors haven’t asked either, so you know we will provide all the information necessary, so creditors can move to allow us to go to the board as soon as possible,” Abebe Aemro Selassie added.

  • Hamas spokesperson including other people arrested in occupied West Bank

Hamas spokesperson including other people arrested in occupied West Bank

Israel has arrested over 60 members of Hamas, a militant group, including a spokesperson, during overnight raids in the West Bank. The West Bank is an area that Israel occupies and is being greatly affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

In a military operation by Israel in the Nour Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem city, some Palestinians were killed, as confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The security agency of Israel, Shin Bet, has confirmed to CNN that they arrested Hassan Yousef, who is the spokesperson, because they suspect that he was acting on behalf of Hamas.

“The occupation forces have arrested Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a leader of Hamas, from his home in Beitunia. This is part of a large-scale arrest campaign in the occupied West Bank,” says the statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

Yousef was arrested multiple times by Israeli forces. He has spent a total of 24 years in Israeli jails for different reasons, like encouraging violence, going into Jerusalem without permission, and being a member of Hamas.

He has been frequently appearing on international media recently. This week, he spoke to Canadian news outlet The Globe and Mail and said that he believes Hamas would be willing to release around 200 hostages if Israel agrees to a day-long ceasefire to allow aid to enter Gaza.

The Israeli military said that Israeli security forces carried out an operation.

The statement said that many people who were wanted by the authorities were arrested in the West Bank, including a large number of Hamas members.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, 850 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. The people mentioned are lawmakers, important people, journalists, and former prisoners who have spent a long time in Israeli jails.

Mustafa Barghouti, who is in charge of the Palestinian National Initiative, told CNN that Israel is conducting a big operation to arrest a lot of Palestinians.

They are catching and taking more people into custody every night. There are currently 6,300 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, according to Barghouti. “They are not accused of a crime, and they do not have to go to court. ” There is no fair legal process, and this is called administrative detention. This includes at least 200 children who are currently in Israeli jails.

The Israeli government is taking strong action because the violence from the Gaza conflict has started to affect the West Bank.

Israeli forces killed several Palestinians during clashes in the West Bank on Thursday, as reported by the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health. The government told CNN that they have confirmed the deaths of six people, and they expect the number of deaths to increase. Fights have happened between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers at many places.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said their workers were trying to help the injured people in Nour Shams. They mentioned that it was hard to reach some of the injured individuals, and that ambulances with injured people were being stopped by Israeli occupation forces.

CNN has asked the IDF to react to this claim.

Israel gained control of the West Bank in 1967 after the Six Day War with Jordan. Since then, Israeli civilians have moved to live in parts of the West Bank and have been protected by the Israeli military. The people who live there hope that the West Bank will be part of a future Palestinian state.

Many countries believe that these settlements are against the law worldwide, but even so, Israeli governments have promised to support them.

Israel sees the West Bank as an area where there is a disagreement, and it believes that its policy to build settlements there is allowed by the law.

Akosombo Dam spillage: John Dumelo supports victims with relief items

Ghanaian actor, entrepreneur, and politician, John Dumelo, has provided essential relief items to the victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage. These relief items, which include clothing, water, eggs, bread, and rice, were delivered to residents of farming settlements in the Volta Region who had to evacuate their homes due to the flooding. Additionally, John Dumelo offered shelter to these victims at his farm house, extending a helping hand to many he has collaborated with over the years.

“Yesterday I presented some relief items (water, fresh eggs, bread, slightly used clothing, Ghana rice) to some farming settlements (Torgome, Klamadaboe, Kesegakope) close to my farm along the Volta Lake. I have worked with some of them over the last 7 years. I have therefore opened up my farm house to them as extra shelter. God bless us all,” Dumelo stated in a social media post on October 18.

The flooding and humanitarian crisis resulting from the spillage of the Akosombo and Kpong hydro dams have severely affected nine districts in the Volta Region. Communities such as Battor, Tefle, Mepe, Sogakope, Adidome, and Anlo have experienced extensive property damage and displacement of residents due to the rising water levels. Self-evacuation efforts by affected individuals and interventions from agencies like the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have been ongoing. The situation has prompted various institutions and individuals to offer relief items to assist those impacted.

In response to the crisis, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has emphasized the importance of reevaluating and possibly redesigning the Akosombo Dam to enhance its ability to manage spillage effectively and reduce the negative impact on communities and livelihoods. This proactive measure is seen as essential in light of the challenges posed by climate change.

  • TikTok couple Empress Lupita and GodPapa declared mentally unfit for trial

TikTok couple Empress Lupita and GodPapa declared mentally unfit for trial

Empress Lupita and her husband, ‘Godpapa The Greatest,‘ a viral TikTok couple, have been deemed mentally ill and incapable of facing trial for their son’s alleged murder.

This decision was based on a report from the Accra Psychiatric Hospital and was prompted by the couple’s unusual courtroom behavior. Court correspondent Ama Brako from Angel FM reported that the couple exhibited disruptive actions, including talking and laughing amongst themselves while court proceedings were underway.

“They were charged with murder,” Ama Brako reported. “So, when they appeared in court, the judge at the Tema District Court said that they should be taken to a psychiatric hospital for examination because sometimes in the courtroom, they will be creating drama.

“For instance, they can chat, laugh, and do all sorts of things in the courtroom, so the judge ordered that they should be examined,” she added.

She explained that the examination was conducted by a senior doctor at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital and the doctor’s assessment revealed a history of mental instability dating back approximately 11 years.

“A senior medic at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital was the one who came to the court to explain things, she said that the two of them had been mentally unstable for about 11 years and she believed that they had been hearing voices, so if they were there, they can talk to themselves and laugh,” she explained.

“The doctor recommended that Empress Lupita and ‘Godpapa the Greatest’ were not fit to stand trial and should be separated and provided with medication. The doctor further suggested that if the Accra Psychiatric Hospital were to admit them again, it would be contingent on them receiving 24-hour police protection,” the reporter added.

The couple is suspected of murdering and subsequently burying their deceased children.

Their youngest child managed to escape their home and shared distressing experiences while under their care before fleeing.

Before their apprehension, the couple had garnered significant attention on the social media platform TikTok, where they were known as Godpapa The Greatest and Empress Lupita.

During one of their media interviews, they confessed to sacrificing one of their children, claiming they believed the child was possessed by an evil spirit and that his future would involve engaging in criminal activities detrimental to the nation.

The couple had been openly sharing their family life on social media until their arrest by the police.

  • Radio transmission from 8 billion years ago hits Earth

Radio transmission from 8 billion years ago hits Earth

Scientists who study space have found a strange burst of radio waves that took a very long time, about 8 billion years, to travel to our planet Earth. The fast radio burst is a really far away and powerful signal that scientists have seen.

Fast radio bursts are really strong and really quick bursts of radio waves that we don’t know where they come from. The first FRB was found in 2007, and since then, scientists have detected many more of these fast flashes from faraway places in space.

The explosion called FRB 20220610A was very short, lasting less than a millisecond. However, during that very brief time, it released as much energy as the sun emits in 30 years. This information comes from a study published in the journal Science on Thursday.

FRBs are very short bursts of bright radio waves that vanish quickly. This makes it hard to study them.

Radio telescopes, like the ASKAP array in Western Australia, have helped astronomers track fast cosmic bursts. Scientists studying space used a special device called ASKAP to find a Fast Radio Burst (FRB) in June 2022 and figure out where it came from.

“Dr(Study coauthor) said that we were able to find out exactly where the burst came from by using ASKAP’s group of (radio) dishes. ” Stuart Ryder, who is a scientist studying space at Macquarie University in Australia, said in a statement. Afterwards, we used a powerful telescope in Chile, called the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope, to look for the galaxy where the signals came from. We found that this galaxy is very old and located at a greater distance compared to other sources of Fast Radio Bursts discovered so far. It is probably situated within a small group of merging galaxies.

The group of researchers found that the burst came from a couple of galaxies that are combining, interacting, and creating new stars. This discovery supports the idea that fast radio bursts may come from magnetars. Magnetars are really powerful things that form when stars explode.

Scientists think that fast radio bursts could help us find out how much stuff there is in the universe by measuring the matter that is missing between galaxies.

Ryan Shannon, a professor at Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, said that when we tally up all the regular stuff in the Universe (like atoms), we see that more than half of it is not where it should be. We believe that the matter that is missing could be in the empty areas between galaxies. However, it might be really hot and spread out, making it impossible to see with regular methods.

Currently, the ways we measure how much the universe weighs don’t match up, which means we might be missing some of the universe.

“According to Shannon, fast radio bursts can detect this charged material. ” Even in very empty space, they are able to detect all the electrons. This helps us determine the amount of matter between the galaxies.

The late Australian astronomer Jean-Pierre Macquart showed in 2020 how we can use fast radio bursts to find missing matter.

J-P found that the further a fast radio burst is, the more spread out gas it shows between the galaxies. Now, people refer to this as the Macquart relation,” Ryder said. Some recent bursts of radio waves were different than what scientists expected them to be.
Our measurements show that the Macquart relation is true for more than half of the Universe that we already know about.

Almost 50 quick radio bursts have been located to find where they came from, and about half of them were discovered using ASKAP.

Shannon stated that although the cause behind these powerful bursts of energy is still unknown, the paper confirms that fast radio bursts happen frequently in space. These bursts can help us detect matter in the areas between galaxies and gain a deeper understanding of the Universe’s structure.

Scientists who study space said they believe that new radio telescopes being built in South Africa and Australia will help them find many more fast radio bursts, which are bursts of energy from outer space, even farther away than before.

Shannon said it’s incredible how frequent FRBs are. This shows how good the field can be. You’re not only going to do this for a short time, but you can do it for a very long time. You can create a new map of the universe and use it to find answers to important questions about space.

  • Conditions in Gaza deteriorate hourly as new wave of protests anticipated across Middle East

Conditions in Gaza deteriorate hourly as new wave of protests anticipated across Middle East

There will be new protests against Israel’s blockade of Gaza in many countries in the Middle East on Friday. Aid agencies are worried because hospitals in Gaza are running out of fuel, and they are concerned that necessary aid might be delayed in Egypt for another day.

The situation in Gaza is getting worse, so Israeli leaders are getting their troops ready for a possible ground attack. On Friday morning, they told around 23,000 people to leave their homes near the border with Lebanon.

In a speech from his office in the White House, US President Joe Biden restated that his government is dedicated to supporting Israel’s fight against Hamas. He emphasized that this support is crucial for America’s safety and compared it to Ukraine’s battle against Russia’s invasion.

However, he also warned the Israeli government not to let anger control their actions and emphasized that the well-being of innocent Palestinians should not be overlooked.

Biden’s support shows that Western allies and Arab countries have a growing disagreement. There are expected to be new protests on Friday in Arab countries in support of 2. 2 million Palestinians who are stuck in Gaza. This is making people worry that there could be a bigger conflict in the region.

Around 200 trucks filled with important supplies are waiting in line outside the closed border while officials try to come to an agreement to let them through. Workers worked on fixing dangerous road holes caused by Israeli bombing so that up to 20 trucks could pass. The negotiations about this continued until Thursday.

However, even though Biden and Egyptian officials said that aid would be given on Friday as scheduled, some sources told CNN that it might be postponed. A person from the US warned that the situation is constantly changing.

Life in Gaza is getting harder for many people as there is not enough food, water, medicine, and fuel.

A team of experts from the United Nations has accused Israel of committing serious crimes against humanity during its latest campaign.

The military operation taking place in Gaza, along with the difficult evacuation orders and forced population moves, breaks the rules of international law that protect people in times of conflict. The UN Human Rights Office stated on Thursday through a press release that it is incredibly cruel.

Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), said on Thursday that the main hospital in Gaza, called Al-Shifa Hospital, only has enough fuel to last for 24 hours.

Guillemette Thomas, a medical coordinator in Jerusalem, said that if there is no electricity, many patients will die. Many Palestinians are going to Al-Shifa hospital to stay safe because they are being bombed all the time.

Many stores don’t have any more food to sell, and people have to wait in long lines for hours to get food and water while bombs are being dropped nearby.

The number of people living in the southern part of Gaza has increased a lot recently. This happened because the Israeli military asked about one million people living in the northern part of Gaza to leave, as they were planning to invade that area.

The oldest church in Gaza is called St. X (ten). The Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church in the center of Gaza City said that it was targeted by an Israeli airstrike on Thursday night.

The Hamas-run Ministry of Interior and National Security stated that an Israeli airstrike destroyed a building owned by the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, causing many people to get hurt.

The Israel Defense Forces admitted that they hit a church and caused damage while attacking a Hamas control center.

Israel has been continuously attacking Gaza because Hamas went on a killing spree on October 7, where they killed around 1,400 people in Israel. Most of the victims were innocent civilians. This event has been referred to as the most horrific mass killing of Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Since then, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 3,700 individuals in Gaza, as reported by the Health Ministry in Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas. Hundreds of women and children have died.

There were thoughts and guesses about a potential ground invasion when Israel caught and arrested over 60 people believed to be part of Hamas on Thursday morning in the West Bank.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, spoke to troops who were near the Gaza Strip on Thursday. He told them that they will be “inside” the area soon and will see it for themselves.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to soldiers who are stationed in a different area next to the Gaza Strip, assuring them that the entire country supports them. We will hit our enemies hard to win. “Are you ready for victory. ” he asked

On Friday morning, CNN reporter Nic Robertson saw more soldiers and equipment near the border between Israel and Gaza.

I saw some light flares coming down in the distance. There were also red bullets being shot from a machine gun with a loud noise.

CNN doesn’t know what the military was doing at night.

Israeli warplanes have continuously bombed and destroyed many homes, causing hundreds of thousands of people to lose their homes. This has led to an increase in protests across the Middle East.

Egypt’s government-supported political parties and institutions have planned for protests across the country on Friday to show their support for Palestinians. This is unusual since Egypt has had strict laws against protests for the past ten years.

Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, said on Thursday that there is a real possibility of the Israel-Hamas war causing problems in nearby regions.

We have noticed that people in Arab countries are very angry, and this has happened in many places in the region. Hamas wanted this to happen. And this could ruin the recent and important improvement in relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors,” von der Leyen said during a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington.

Protests against Israel became stronger this week after many Palestinians died on Tuesday in an explosion at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza.

Palestinian officials say that Israel attacked the hospital, but Israel says that this is not true. Israeli and US spies think that the explosion happened because a rocket from a different group in Gaza was shot in the wrong direction.

Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq expressed their criticism towards Israel and accused its military of attacking the hospital.

There are protests against Israel increasing in the Middle East. People are worried that there could be more conflicts, especially on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. Hezbollah, a powerful group in Lebanon, has recently been fighting with Israel’s military.

  • 41 Canadian ambassadors expelled from India over murder of Sikh activist

41 Canadian ambassadors expelled from India over murder of Sikh activist

Canada removed 41 diplomats and their families from India because India said they might take away their special protection as diplomats. This happened because there is a growing argument between the two countries about the killing of a Sikh activist.

The decision comes after both countries kicked out each other’s diplomats as a response to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and important Sikh leader. Nijjar was shot by two masked attackers in British Columbia.

A rift between the countries started because Canadian leader Justin Trudeau said that his intelligence services were investigating “believable accusations” that the murder could be connected to Indian government agents. India strongly denies any involvement in Nijjar’s death and accuses the claims of being ridiculous and driven by ulterior motives.

Apart from the reciprocal removal of diplomats, India has stopped issuing visas to Canadian citizens due to concerns about the safety of Indian diplomats in Canada.

Last month, India announced that it would request some Canadian diplomats to depart from the country, in order to have equal diplomatic representation.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said India’s recent actions were not fair when she talked about the removal of the 41 diplomats on Thursday.

I always prioritize the safety of Canadians and our diplomats. Joly said at a press conference in Ottawa that because India’s actions could put our diplomats’ safety at risk, we have helped them leave India safely.

Joly mentioned that most diplomats and their families have left India, but 21 Canadian diplomats are still staying there.

Joly said the Canadian government will not respond in the same way, as it would break international law.

Joly said we are only asking India to follow the rules of the world.

Nijjar strongly supported the idea of creating a separate Sikh homeland called Khalistan, which would be made up of certain areas in India.

The World Sikh Organization of Canada says that Nijjar often led peaceful protests against what the group believes are human rights violations happening in India and in support of Khalistan.

The Khalistan movement is not allowed in India and the government sees it as a danger to the country’s safety. Some groups related to the movement are labeled as terrorist organizations under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Nijjar was listed by the Home Ministry as a UAPA terrorist.

In 2020, the Indian National Investigation Agency accused him of attempting to influence Sikh communities worldwide to support the formation of ‘Khalistan’. They also said he tried to encourage Sikhs to vote for independence, protest against the Indian government, and carry out violent actions.

Nijjar’s followers have refused to accept the terrorist label. They believe this label is being used to harm Nijjar’s reputation. Nijjar’s death has caused great shock and anger among the Sikh community in Canada, which is one of the biggest Sikh communities outside of India. In Canada, there are over 770,000 people who belong to the Sikh religious minority.

  • Akufo-Addo to meet with cabinet today to discuss the economy, Dam Spillage matters

Akufo-Addo to meet with cabinet today to discuss the economy, Dam Spillage matters

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Cabinet are commencing a three-day retreat to discuss the country’s economy and the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams’ spillage.

This retreat follows the International Monetary Fund’s approval of a $600 million balance of payment support tranche for Ghana after a staff agreement was reached.

The discussion will also focus on the devastating impact of the dam spillage, which has left thousands homeless in the Volta, Eastern, and parts of the Greater Accra Regions.

The Volta River Authority initiated the controlled water spillage on September 15, 2023, due to a consistent rise in the inflow pattern and water level of the Akosombo reservoir.

Numerous residents in South Tongu, North Tongu, Central Tongu, Asuogyaman, and other areas have seen their homes submerged due to the spillage.

President Akufo-Addo visited Mepe and surrounding areas to assess the damage caused by the spillage and assured the affected residents that the government would take all necessary steps to provide aid.

He mentioned that the inter-ministerial committee he established will determine the immediate relief for the victims and work towards preventing such a disaster from happening again in the future.

“The coordination is about the immediate and the most important thing was to ensure the life of people and that is why 9 centres were established for all the displaced people and all the people in these 9 centres have been provided relief items by NADMO, and it is NADMO’s intention to continue to provide relief items. Apart from what NADMO is doing, we must also think about the future.”

  • Attorney General orders police probe into 2020 PNC flagbearer over ‘stolen’ party vehicle

Attorney General orders police probe into 2020 PNC flagbearer over ‘stolen’ party vehicle

The Attorney-General’s Department has forwarded a petition from the General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) to the police. This request seeks an investigation into a case involving a missing vehicle.

In the petition, filed by Janet Asana Nabla on Monday, August 28, the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the PNC, David Apasera, is accused of fabricating documents to assert ownership of a vehicle allegedly belonging to the party.

Initial inquiries indicated that the vehicle was registered in the name of one Agyei-Gyamfi Kwame. However, it was later confirmed that documents supported Mr. Apasera‘s claims. He is said to have received the vehicle from former flagbearer Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama, following party regulations.

This prompted the party’s petition, which was submitted not only to the Attorney-General but also to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The Attorney-General responded, acknowledging the seriousness of the matter. They emphasized that they cannot directly intervene in individual cases or conduct their investigations, as stated in the letter signed by the Principal State Attorney.

“Arrests and investigations fall under the purview of law enforcement bodies, in this instance, the police.

“They have authority and resources to investigate exhaustively any individual who is suspected to have committed an offence.

“Therefore, we will forward your concern to the police and direct them to investigate the matter,” the letter to Madam Janet Asana Nabla noted.

The A-G added that once investigations are initiated, all witnesses including the petitioner will be invited to provide information and assistance.

“This will aid in ensuring an exhaustive investigation and an equitable resolution of the matter.

“We are confident that by taking this step, your concerns will be appropriately addressed and once the investigations are complete, our office will thoroughly review the docket and take the necessary action based on the available evidence.”

Internal disputes within the PNC have resulted in the suspension of numerous party executives. Mr. Apasera faced a confrontation in Cantonments regarding the vehicle, which was supposed to be returned to the party after the 2020 elections.

Subsequently, the vehicle was seized by the Nima Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service.

  • Chinese social media rife with discussion and nationalism over Israel-Hamas conflict

Chinese social media rife with discussion and nationalism over Israel-Hamas conflict

The conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas has caused a strong argument on China’s strict social media. This has created a divide between those who believe Israel should defend itself and various voices supporting Palestine. Unfortunately, there has also been an increase in antisemitic opinions.

A lot of people in China have been watching what is happening in the Middle East and sharing their thoughts online since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th. This attack resulted in the death of over 1,400 people and the capture of around 200 civilians and military personnel who are now believed to be held in Gaza.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has caused arguments among people using Weibo. Just like in other countries, the war has created different opinions among users, and posts about it are frequently seen by millions of people on Weibo.

But even though there are a lot of posts that support Israel, more people are starting to criticize the things Israel does. At the same time, there is also an increase in very extreme views that are against Jewish people. China’s online censors, who are very influential, have let these extreme views spread.

Deputy Chief of Mission Yuval Waks, who works at the Israeli Embassy in Beijing, mentioned that people in China have been showing strong disapproval towards Israel and, in many situations, expressing hatred towards Jewish people.

“We are worried that this would create a harmful environment that could seriously endanger both Israelis in China and Jews living in China,” expressed Waks.

Last week, a foreigner stabbed an Israeli diplomat in Beijing. The suspect is a 53-year-old businessman and the police are still trying to figure out why he did it.

Waks expressed gratitude for China’s help in taking care of the hurt diplomat and keeping his coworkers safe. However, he requested that the Chinese government strongly denounce Hamas.

China has criticized actions that hurt innocent people, but it hasn’t specifically blamed Hamas or mentioned the group in its statements, unlike many Western countries.

“We are a little sad to see that a country we have a good relationship with is not strongly condemning the situation,” Waks said. He also mentioned that the government’s stance often influences how people talk online.

While Beijing has tried to stay impartial in official statements, the media in China has shown a more biased perspective, often highlighting Israel’s bombings in Gaza and the resulting destruction.

Recently, the government of China has increased its criticism of Israel’s blockade of the Palestinian area. Their top official, Wang Yi, said Israel is going too far in defending itself and demanded a quick end to the fighting.

The United Nations and other groups that help people in need are asking for the fighting to stop in Gaza. They say the situation is getting worse and may become uncontrollable. Palestinian health officials say over 3,700 people have been killed in Gaza since the fighting began. This number includes over 1,500 children and 1,000 women.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke in Beijing on Wednesday. He said on live TV in China that what is happening in Israel cannot be used as a reason to punish all the Palestinian people together.

On Weibo, a lot of popular nationalist influencers who don’t like the West often post messages against Israel that get shared a lot.

Some people have criticized Israel’s actions in the past and during their current war with Hamas. However, there are also others who have spread hateful comments and anti-Semitic conspiracies.

A famous nationalist page with over 2 million followers has shared funny pictures with Adolf Hitler and some of its followers have admired the former leader of Germany, who caused the deaths of millions of Jewish people during World War II.

Some well-known accounts have criticized the close relationship between Israel and the United States.

This well-known account with 6. 6 million followers claimed that Israel did not support China when the US imposed sanctions on it. The account questioned why China would now support Israel.

Xiao Qiang, a research scientist from the University of California Berkeley’s School of Information, explained that in China, big accounts that support the government usually control the online discussions. These accounts try to get attention by making outrageous claims and competing with each other.

“You do everything possible to get people’s attention. ” “He explained that there is a business motive behind it. ”

Xiao said that not having correct information adds to spreading harmful stereotypes. “There isn’t much understanding when you rely solely on government-provided information. ”

There is a problem with hatred towards Jewish people on the internet in China, and it is also seen in some parts of the country’s official media. Lately, some false ideas have become popular, and even official media sources have mentioned them.

Galia Lavi, who helps run a center in Israel focused on Israel-China policies, said that when hateful messages attacking Jewish people are not addressed by authorities online, it is like silently supporting those messages. She made a comparison to China, which has also not criticized Hamas.

She said that when Chinese officials do not criticize Hamas, it means they are supporting it.

More and more people who study China and Israel have noticed that there is more hate towards Jewish people in China. Some Chinese diplomats seem to have noticed this too. On Sunday, Hua Chunying, an Assistant Foreign Minister, wrote on X, a platform similar to Twitter, that “during World War II, China gave home to 20,000 Jewish people in Shanghai. ”

Many people online are critical of Israel, but not everyone feels the same way. On Weibo, some people have criticized Hamas’ “acts of terrorism” and want it to be defeated, while others have felt sorry for both sides.

“Support Israel,” a user wrote in a recent comment, getting 1,600 likes on a post by the Israeli Embassy. This has increased the Embassy’s daily post count.

The Israeli diplomatic outpost has been using Chinese social media, according to Lavi from the Diane & Guilford Glazer Israel-China Policy Center in an interview with CNN.

Lavi said that it is expected for the Israeli Embassy to be more busy during these times, as they are trying to inform the world about what has happened.

The Israeli Embassy shared several posts about Noa Argamani, a young Israeli woman who has both Israeli and Chinese heritage. In the videos, she was forcefully separated from her boyfriend by militants during a music festival attack that caused over 260 deaths. Both are now thought to have been kidnapped.

However, although some people had a positive reaction to the post, it also received a lot of negative feedback. A person who strongly supports their own country and has a lot of people following them on social media asked why they should worry about what is happening to Argamani.

The commentator asked if she should ask the Israeli government for help because her whole family is Israeli.

The post got 24,000 likes and was shared over 500 times. Some people said that the Israeli Embassy was using women and children to receive sympathy.

Wendy Zhou, a student doing a PhD in the Chinese internet at Georgia State University, explained that the war has become a big topic of discussion in China online. This is because it allows people to express their political views in a space that is normally controlled tightly by the government.

China does not allow foreign social media platforms and controls or deletes comments that the Chinese Communist Party considers slightly sensitive. Because of this, she said, people who talk about it often say things that “go beyond just the event, mixing in their thoughts about what the Chinese government thinks, what the country’s important goals are, and how the government and society relate to each other. ”

China has been supporting Palestine for a long time, even before it built a strong economic relationship with Israel in recent years. Beijing was one of the first nations to support and acknowledge the Palestinian Authority, and they have consistently supported the Palestinians in voting at the United Nations.

According to Zhou, some of the opinions posted on Weibo can be linked to the widespread dislike of the United States and China’s long-standing backing for the Palestinian cause.

Many comments also mention China’s efforts for peace and make comparisons between the struggles of the Palestinian people and China’s own experiences with colonization in the past.

  • Akosombo Dam spillage: Ghana Health Service to offer free healthcare to victims

Akosombo Dam spillage: Ghana Health Service to offer free healthcare to victims

Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye has announced a free medical care package for individuals affected by the water spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong dams.

The Ghana Health Service has stated that the situation is currently under control and does not require a health emergency response. Over 26,000 individuals have been displaced due to flooding caused by the spillage from these dams.

The devastation caused by the flooding has raised concerns about the health of the affected individuals, leading to demands for a declaration of a state of emergency. Seventy-eight communities have been affected, five health facilities rendered inoperable, and 171 health workers have been displaced.

The Ghana Health Service is closely monitoring the situation daily due to the high risk of cholera and diarrhea-related diseases, even though no cases have been recorded as of yet. Displaced individuals within these areas will receive free medical treatment, as confirmed by Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service.

‘’ Nine districts have been affected. In the Volta Region, there are four districts; South, North and Central Tongu and in Greater Accra we have Ada East and Shai Osudoku. In Eastern Region, there are also three districts, Afram Plains North and South and Asuogyaman.

So far, there are a lot of medications available. The Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) and others have all headed there to provide free healthcare services. I have also directed that anyone who comes to seek healthcare without the National Health Insurance (NHIS) card should be attended to for free, until we are able to address the situation,’’ he said.

The Director General stated that regional mobilization is being carried out, with national reinforcement to be deployed if necessary, noting that the situation does not require a health emergency.

‘’On the aspect of health, we have not reached any situation to call for that. I think the response is ok. There are enough resources available. We are monitoring the situation on daily basis. There’s what we call the emergency operation centre meetings where we join every day. If there are any challenges, we will address it. We also have a promise from the WHO to support us with logistics,’’ he further noted.

  • Video: Watch how the Akosombo Dam was constructed in 1961-1965

Video: Watch how the Akosombo Dam was constructed in 1961-1965

The Akosombo Dam, also known as the Volta Dam, is a hydroelectric dam on the Volta River in southeastern Ghana in the Akosombo gorge and part of the Volta River Authority. The construction of the dam flooded part of the Volta River Basin and led to the subsequent creation of Lake Volta.

Lake Volta is the largest man-made lake in the world by surface area. It covers 8,502 square kilometres (3,283 sq mi), which is 3.6% of Ghana’s land area. With a volume of 148 cubic kilometers, Lake Volta is the world’s third largest man-made lake by volume; the largest being Lake Kariba which contains 185 cubic kilometers of water.

The dam was conceived in 1915 by geologist Albert Kitson, but no plans were drawn until the 1940s. The development of the Volta River Basin was proposed in 1949, but because funds were insufficient, the American company Volta Aluminum Company (Valco) lent money to Ghana so that the dam could be constructed. President Kwame Nkrumah adopted the Volta River hydropower project.

In May 1960, the Ghana government called for tenders for construction of the hydroelectric dam. In 1961, an Italian consortium, Impregilo which had just completed the Kariba Dam, won the contract.

In 1961, the Volta River Authority (VRA) was established by Ghana’s Parliament through the passage of the Volta River Development Act.

The VRA’s fundamental operations were structured by six Board members and Nkrumah as chairman. The VRA’s primary task is to manage the development of the Volta River Basin, which included the construction and supervision of the dam, the power station and the power transmission network.

The VRA is responsible for the reservoir impounded by the dam, fishing within the lake, lake transportation and communication, and the welfare of those surrounding the lake.

Currently, the song is ranked number 19 on the Ghanaian playlist, indicating its popularity among listeners in Ghana.

“This song is a party song, that is why we chose the beautiful masquerade festival. It was also shot in Takoradi,” she explained.

Adina, during an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3’s “New Day” Show on October 18, 2023, shared that her single “Party” serves as an appetizer for her fans and Ghanaians before she releases her main album in 2024.

She also hinted that her upcoming album is designed to propel her onto the international stage, signaling her ambitions to reach a broader global audience with her music.

“This single is actually part of my album which is set to be released next year. My album features 7 other African collaborations, like musicians from South Africa and of course, Kofi Kinata who is the first collaboration I have on this album” she revealed.

Adina also talked about her upcoming clothing line, ‘Thembi Republic’.

“I was styled by my own clothing line, Thembi Republic. It’s so difficult to start a business in Ghana and also dealing with artisans, that is why we have delayed but we managed to secure a place now and we will be coming out soon” she added.

dina, the talented songstress, encouraged all her fans to stream her new single “Party,” featuring Kofi Kinata, and to like the video. Efia Odo turns her attention to Afrobeat genre

Ghanaian actress, socialite, and emerging musician Efia Odo has announced her intention to venture into Afrobeat music after her debut single, “Freak,” did not gain significant traction in the music scene.

In an exclusive interview on the Day Show, Efia Odo acknowledged the criticism and backlash her first song received and expressed her determination to learn and evolve. She shared that she has been actively working on Afrobeat tracks and believes that this genre aligns better with the preferences of the Ghanaian audience.

“I’ve been working on Afrobeat songs ever since I released ‘Freak.’ I’ve taken the time to understand my audience, and I’m ready to connect with Ghanaians on their level,” she stated.

When it came to criticism of her debut song, Efia Odo took it all in stride, saying, “That is okay, that is why I went back, took their advice, did my homework, and aimed to create something better.” I wasn’t born to do music; I was born to entertain, and that’s what I’m going to do. Every day is a learning school.”

Efia Odo emphasised Afrobeat’s international appeal and noted that its fan base is growing even in the US.

She sees this as a strategic move to align with the evolving preferences of music lovers.

“People love Afrobeat; in America, people even listen to more Afrobeat than R&B. It is going where it has to go,” she remarked.

Efia Odo boldly claimed in the interview that she could hold the attention of viewers, saying that watching her every move would be more captivating than watching the hit reality show Big Brother.

  • More than 3,700 people have died in Gaza – Health officials

More than 3,700 people have died in Gaza – Health officials

We received new numbers from the health ministry in Gaza. They say that since Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October, at least 3,785 Palestinians have died in Gaza.

They say that out of the people who died, 1,524 were kids, 1,000 were women, and 120 were old.

A total of 12,493 people have been hurt, according to health officials.

This number of deaths includes 471 people who, according to the Gaza health ministry, died on Tuesday at Al-Ahli Arab hospital. Hamas says Israel bombed them, but Israel has evidence showing that a rocket from Gaza was accidentally fired.

The exact number of people who died in that incident is being argued about. A representative from the Israeli foreign ministry said it was a few dozen.

  • Sunak’s remarks diverge significantly from Biden’s caution

Sunak’s remarks diverge significantly from Biden’s caution

Benjamin Netanyahu made very clear comments. He labeled Hamas as the “new Nazis”, the “new Isis” and “monstrous barbarians”, and presented the conflict as a fight between Western civilization and the “axis of evil” led by Iran.

He also said that the war will last for a long time and emphasized the importance of ongoing support. He also implied that Western governments should not be hesitant or uncomfortable when Israel’s retaliation becomes more intense.

The UK PM Rishi Sunak believed it was important to show support for Israel.

However, there were some clever and careful things in his speech – he told Israel to try their best to avoid hurting innocent people, even though he said it in a positive way because he was sure that Israel would do it, unlike Hamas.

He also talked about the rules that countries agree to follow and emphasized the importance of help for people in need.

However, the message from the US President to not let anger control us was not as serious.

And as many Western leaders visited Israel one after another, Sunak also played his role in showing Iran that if a bigger conflict were to happen in the region, there would be negative outcomes.

Mr Drew has given me my share of proceeds from “Case” song – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has shared that the issue he had with Mr. Drew has been resolved.

Previously, he expressed his disappointment in Mr. Drew for using a song for which he had written about 80 percent without his consent when they were both part of the Highly Spiritual Music label.

However, in a recent interview on Hitz FM, Kuami Eugene mentioned that Mr. Drew had reached out to him and asked for his details to complete the split sheet, indicating the ownership and distribution of royalties.

He added that his due percentage has been credited to him, suggesting that the matter has been amicably resolved between the two artists.

“He didn’t have a total knowledge of what he was doing. He didn’t know that if you put music out there without the consent of the one that wrote it, it’s illegal. So I won’t blame him. He is a brother, and I am glad he learned and he hit me up right after everything. He’s given me my percentage,” he noted.

British-Israeli man football fan killed in Hamas attack remembered

Yonatan Rapoport, a British-Israeli man, was verified to have been killed by Hamas.

On October 7, he died during the raid on Kibbutz Be’eri.

He was a devoted supporter of Manchester United, and the team’s Israeli fan organisation has now released a statement.

It states that the organisation “shares in the grief of the Rapoport family…the wonderful Rapoport family stood bravely against the inferno, but Yonatan couldn’t overcome the vile murderers” .

The statement continues, “To the entire family – the entire community embraces you and profoundly shares in your sadness. His memories may bring you blessings.

On November 11, the family was scheduled to attend the Manchester United vs. Luton Town game at Old Trafford.

Keri Hilson returns to the music scene with new album”Pretty Girl Rock”

American singer-songwriter and actress Keri Hilson has expressed her readiness to release new music after a long hiatus. She made this statement during her appearance on Tank and J. Valentine’s R&B Money podcast, which was published on Saturday, October 14.

Keri Hilson’s last full-length album, “No Boys Allowed,” was released in 2010, and fans have been eagerly anticipating new music from her ever since. While she had initially announced her plans to release new music earlier this year, the actual release has been delayed. However, her recent remarks on the podcast suggest that she is now prepared to share her new work with the world. Fans of Keri Hilson can look forward to hearing fresh material from the talented artist.

“It took a second; a lot of things happened that prevented it,” she said. “I blame it on one thing, but really it was years of a struggle. I fought through that, but I’m free, and I’m ready.”

She continued: “We’re starting to take meetings to figure out how we want to do this thing [and] where we want to do this thing.”

On the Behind the Mask podcast back in February, Keri Hilson hinted that her eagerly anticipated third studio album might be released in 2023.

“I can say that [the new album] answers questions,” Hilson said. “I can say that I’m proud of it. And I can say that there were a couple of false starts. They were not all me! There was some like, I don’t know, fake PR or like fans would craft fake press releases and tweets.

“But there have been false starts and right before my dad died, that was definitely one that I was responsible for because that’s what I was planning to do and then that happened,” she continued. “But I feel like I’m closer now.”

The “Pretty Girl Rock” singer expressed her strong belief that “this is the year” the project will be released, but she did not provide a specific release date.

Today, the Israeli army said it fired artillery at Lebanon in response to two missiles being shot at a Kibbutz called Manara in the north.

The IDF has reported that no one was hurt in the recent missile attack. They also mentioned that they are using artillery shelling to attack the place from where the missiles were launched.

Twenty relief trucks not enough – World Food Programme

As we mentioned before, the US has announced that a group of 20 trucks filled with aid will be able to enter Gaza from Egypt tomorrow. This is possible because the road has been fixed.

We just heard from Abeer Etefa, who works at the World Food programme in Cairo. She said that having 20 trucks is a good beginning, but it is still not sufficient. She thinks the initial plan is a way to check the system.

Etefa says the situation in Gaza is really bad, with two million people who desperately need help.

The World Food Programme worked with 23 bakeries, but only four are currently open. The rest are either damaged or running out of fuel, and the shops are running out of food.

Gaza needs 100 trucks of aid per day – UN humanitarian chief

Aid organizations state that Gaza requires much more assistance than the first 20 trucks mentioned by US President Biden after his recent trip to Israel.

The UN’s head of humanitarian efforts, Martin Griffiths, says that about 100 large trucks will be needed each day.

Egypt has said they will open the border between Egypt and Gaza so that deliveries can happen, but it is taking some time to get everything ready.

The Egyptian president, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, is going to meet with King Abdullah of Jordan today to discuss providing help to Palestinians.

Both Egypt and Jordan have been friendly with Israel for a long time and have helped solve problems between them in the past.

Israeli forces and Palestinians clash, 6 dead – Palestinian Authority

The West Bank, governed by Israel, witnessed six fatalities during confrontations with Israeli soldiers as reported by the Palestinian health ministry.

According to witnesses, Israeli soldiers went into the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm. They are currently fighting with Palestinian gunmen.

Earlier, the Israeli military detained more than 80 individuals in the West Bank. Among them, 63 individuals were identified as Hamas members involved in activities that result in terror.

They arrested five people in Nur Shams and the security forces are still working in the camp to stop terrorism.

The West Bank, which is controlled by Israel, is not connected to the Gaza Strip. Some of it is controlled by the Palestinian Authority, while Gaza is managed by Hamas.
According to data from the United Nations, as of last night, at least 61 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 7 October. Over 1,200 people have also gotten hurt.

There have been more fights between people and the security forces of the Palestinian Authority recently. This is because protesters are angry about the war in Gaza and are demonstrating in the streets.

Israeli settlers have been committing more acts of violence, including attacking Palestinians. The Israeli human rights organization called B’Tselem has collected information and evidence of these attacks.

  • Vegetables that shouldn’t be peeled before eating

Vegetables that shouldn’t be peeled before eating

Peeling vegetables is a common practice, but there are certain vegetables where the peel is not only safe to eat but also adds extra flavor, texture, and nutrition to your dishes. Here are seven vegetables you can consider eating without peeling:

    1. Cucumbers: Cucumber peels are rich in fiber and provide a slightly bitter taste that can complement salads or sandwiches.
    2. Carrots: While it’s common to peel carrots, especially for aesthetics, you can leave the skin on if they’re well-scrubbed. Carrot peels contain nutrients and add a rustic feel to dishes.
    3. Zucchini (Courgette): Zucchini skin is thin and tender, making it perfectly edible. It adds a beautiful green color to your dishes.
    4. Potatoes: Potato skins are nutritious and provide a satisfying texture in dishes like roasted potatoes or potato salads. Just make sure to clean them thoroughly.
    5. Eggplant (Aubergine): Eggplant skin is typically eaten in many dishes. It becomes tender when cooked and adds a delightful color and flavor.
    6. Sweet Potatoes: The skin of sweet potatoes is edible and contains valuable nutrients. Roasting sweet potatoes with the skin on enhances their flavor.
    7. Bell Peppers: Bell pepper skins are perfectly safe to eat and can be added to salads or used in various recipes.

When choosing to leave the peel on these vegetables, be sure to wash and scrub them thoroughly to remove any dirt or contaminants. It’s essential to buy organic or wash conventionally grown produce to reduce exposure to pesticides and chemicals.

Keep in mind that personal preference, culinary use, and dietary considerations may influence whether you choose to peel these vegetables or not.

Protests in Congo against East African forces

A group of organizations in the Democratic Republic of Congo came together for a protest in the city of Goma. They want a group of East African forces to leave the eastern part of the country because they have not been able to effectively handle the M23 rebels.

In November last year, Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, and South Sudan sent soldiers to DR Congo as part of a group called the East African Community Regional Force. Their mission was to remove weapons from the rebel group and bring peace.

The M23 group has not let go of several towns and villages in North Kivu province. Earlier this month, seven people died in the area.

Last week, a spokesperson from DR Congo named Patrick Muyaya told the BBC that his government decided not to extend the EACRF mandate.

He said that troops from Congo would do a better job, and also said that the EACRF should leave when their time is up in December.

The East African Community said it is committed to helping the government bring displaced people back to their houses safely and protect all the civilians.

Goma has had dangerous protests against the UN mission.

Over 62 million people have been made to leave their homes in the eastern part of DR Congo. They now live in other areas within the country. Additionally, approximately one million people have gone to seek shelter in different parts of Africa. The United Nations’ refugee agency provided this information.

  • Tiktok, Meta provided Hamas misinformation deadline by EU

Tiktok, Meta provided Hamas misinformation deadline by EU

TikTok and Meta have been asked by the EU to give them information about any false information that might have been shared on their platforms about the Israel-Gaza conflict.

Before, they were told to give answers to the group’s worries within 24 hours.

However, unlike this most recent demand, that request did not have the power of the law behind it.

Both companies have one week to reply. According to the new rules, the European Union (EU) has the authority to start an official investigation if it is not happy with the answers it receives.

The EU is worried that there might be more terrorist and violent content, and hate speech being shared, because of the recent attack by Hamas on Israel.

This happened a week after the EU reached out to X, which was previously called Twitter, about the same worries.

X said that they had taken down many accounts that were connected to Hamas from their platform.

Social media companies are experiencing an increase in false information about the Israel and Hamas conflict. This includes edited pictures and videos with incorrect labels.

In October, EU commissioner Thierry Breton sent letters to the top leaders of Meta, TikTok, X, and Google. He asked them to reply within 24 hours.

But these letters were not official requests that follow the new EU laws that decide what can be published on the internet.

Now, with the Digital Services Act (DSA), the companies have to reply within the given time limits.

If you don’t follow the DSA, you could get fined up to 6% of your company’s total income, or your platform might be suspended.

    Two deadlines instead of one.

Under the DSA, the Commission has given Meta and TikTok two specific times when they must complete certain actions.

The companies have been asked to give the information about “the crisis response” by 25 October, and they need to answer the questions about keeping the election fair by 8 November.

TikTok has been given the job of showing the European Commission how it is keeping children safe online by the deadline in November.

When asked for more information before, Mr. Breton said that Meta needs to show that they have taken action quickly, carefully, and impartially.

He explained that TikTok has a special responsibility to keep kids and teens safe by preventing violent content and terrorist messages.

Tiktok agreed that they received the EU’s request.

A spokesperson from TikTok said that they will release their first report about transparency next week. The report will provide more details about their efforts to ensure safety for their European users.

The BBC has asked Meta to share their thoughts or opinions on something.

  • Hundreds detained during protest near US Capitol

Hundreds detained during protest near US Capitol

More than 300 individuals were taken into custody close to the US Capitol following a demonstration against the Israel-Hamas conflict.

More people may be arrested soon, so the number could go up. The police mentioned that they have already charged three individuals with attacking a police officer.

Many people were caught by the police in the Cannon House Office Building. This is a place where protests are not allowed.

The people protesting asked President Joe Biden and Congress to work towards stopping the fighting in Gaza.

The protest in Washington DC was planned by two smaller, left-leaning Jewish organizations, Jewish Voice for Peace and If Not Now. These groups are against the State of Israel.

The police blocked off streets near the Capitol building on Wednesday because a lot of protesters were walking in the road.
Some of the group then went inside a building called the Cannon House Office Building, where congressional staff work. Hundreds of additional people gathered outside the building. They sang in both Hebrew and English.

The people inside were wearing black T-shirts with the words “Jews say stop fighting now” and “Not in our name”. Some people held signs that said “Stop fighting” and sang songs while sitting on the ground in the rotunda.

The Capitol police told the protesters to stop their demonstration and when they didn’t listen, we started arresting them.
Some people were seen getting their hands tied with plastic handcuffs and being taken away in vans by the police. Three people who were taken into custody were later accused of attacking a police officer.

A person leading a protest at the Capitol used a loudspeaker to ask for “fairness, fairness, and the ability to do what we want”.

“The woman said that the only way to be truly safe is to calm down and deal with the main reasons behind this terrible violence. ”

The protest happened when President Biden arrived in Israel to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team.

Mr Biden said that Israel had the right to retaliate for the Hamas attack on October 7th, which resulted in the deaths of 1,400 people.

Palestinian health officials say that around 3,000 people have died in Israeli attacks on Gaza as revenge.

Ama Governor will be fine and you will be forgotten – Lydia Forson descends on trolls

Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has descended on netizens for trolling Popular Youtuber Miss Elorm Ababio, also known as Ama Governor

These trolls come at the back of yet another setback in her journey to be called to the bar as a lawyer.

The General Legal Council (GLC) announced on Wednesday, October 18, 2023; that it had suspended the Call to the Bar application by Ama Governor.

Despite having successfully passed all her mandatory examinations in 2022, the GLC’s decision is based on a scrutiny of her conduct leading up to her application, as revealed in a letter signed by Judicial Secretary, Justice Cyra Pamela C. A. Koranteng.

This development has gained significant attention on social media platforms, with users sharing their thoughts and opinions on the matter. Ama Governor has now been in the spotlight multiple times over issues related to her Call to the Bar.

Some criticised Ama Governor, suggesting that her recent pronouncements about her sexuality and the outcome of the committee that heard the anonymous petition against her call last year may have contributed to her current situation.

On the other hand, there are those who defend her right to be who she wants to be and question the need for the GLC’s current position. Among those backing her is Lydia Forson, taking to her Twitter handle, said “Ama Govenor will be fine, she may suffer a lot of pain, hurt, and frustration, but eventually she will be fine. History never remembers the silent, but those who challenged the system and made their voices heard. You and your trolling on the other hand will be forgotten”

Nairobi’s governor expresses regret about loss of hawkers products

People in Kenya are very angry because the government destroyed things that street traders were selling in Nairobi. The governor said sorry for what happened.

Pictures of sausages and eggs scattered on the roads have been shared a lot on the internet. A few food sellers are standing nearby, feeling sad as their carts are taken away and put on a truck.

Many people in Kenya are coming together to help the traders. They are even starting campaigns to raise money for a hawker whose cart was damaged.

Lots of people are criticizing the county authorities for being mean and unkind to hustlers – regular Kenyans who are trying to survive in a difficult economy.

President William Ruto ran for election and won last year by promising to support the interests of the hardworking people.

However, Governor of Nairobi, Johnson Sakaja, said sorry for what happened on Wednesday morning and called it a very unfortunate event. He promised that the officers involved would be punished.

He said every trader would receive 10,000 Kenya shillings ($65; £55) as payment, and he commanded that all confiscated goods be given back.

Even if the traders didn’t have the necessary paperwork. We require all food handlers in Nairobi to follow safety rules for the well-being of the residents. It is unfair for them to be treated poorly, and we are handling the situation within our organization.

  • Kenya sued by widow of Pakistani journalist over husband’s death

Kenya sued by widow of Pakistani journalist over husband’s death

The wife of a well-known Pakistani journalist is taking legal action against the Kenyan government for purposely killing her husband, according to AP news agency.

Javeria Siddique took legal action in Nairobi on Wednesday, claiming that Arshad Sharif was unjustly killed.

A journalist was shot and died one year ago by officers from Kenya’s special police group called the General Service Unit (GSU).

The police officers involved in the situation said they thought they had arrested the wrong person, but the wife of the deceased person disagrees with the police’s statement.

She told the Associated Press that her husband was killed on purpose because he criticized the Pakistani military.

Sharif went to Kenya in August 2022 to avoid being arrested for several crimes and charges related to trying to overthrow the government.

According to AP, Ms Siddique said that the Kenyan government never reached out to her and never showed any kindness. She also said that it is really cruel for a government to be so insensitive.

The lawsuit says that Ms Siddique wants the police officers who killed her husband to be punished and prosecuted by the police, attorney general, and director of public prosecutions.

Ms Siddique also wants the attorney general to say sorry publicly, admit the truth, and take responsibility for Sharif’s death.

In simpler terms, last year, investigators from Pakistan wrote a very long report after Sharif was killed. They found that the Kenyan police gave different and conflicting information about the case.

The Islamabad authorities accused two Pakistani businessmen who live in Kenya of being involved in a murder that happened in December 2022.

Pakistan’s military has said that they were not involved in this.

  • 19-year-old dancer from DWP Academy dies

19-year-old dancer from DWP Academy dies

A dancer at the DWP Academy, Nana Obeng Owusu Junior, has tragically passed away. His mother, Mrs. Nelly Mills, confirmed his death and expressed her concerns about the circumstances leading to his demise. She believes that his life could have been saved if he had received oxygen at the hospital.

According to Mrs. Mills, on the day her son passed away, he experienced an asthma attack and was rushed to the hospital. She also mentioned that there were some unusual events that took place during his treatment.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to receive timely medical attention, particularly when suffering from asthma or other respiratory ailments.

“He has been asthmatic for the past ten years,” said the mother. “On the day he died, I served him his food and was waiting to finish eating so I administer his medicines to him. He sat by the table and told me that he was starting to feel worse.

“He said the asthma attack was gradually becoming severe. I asked him to use his pump and he told me to rather take him to the hospital for a nebulizer. So, I refused. He then went to take his bath and things got worse. I then sought help and we carried him to a hospital.

“The first hospital told us they had closed so we took him to another one, Ewim Polyclinic. I told them my son needed oxygen and that he was in a critical condition but one of the nurses asked me to go and get a drug outside the hospital which costs just GHC7.00. I came back only to meet my boy vomiting.

“Within a twinkle of an eye, he stood and started acting strange. He looked aggressive and feisty. They then carried him and put him on the bed and I kept asking what they did to my son. Then they started resuscitating him a few times and finally confirmed that he was dead,” she stated in a viral video.

The mother said she suspects the hospital administered the wrong treatment to her son after she was sent to purchase the drug.

“I asked what injection was given my son when they sent me to go and buy the drugs but no one responded,” Nelly Mills said. “I don’t even know how my son even ended up in the mortuary. They only told me what they usually do is to compile all the cases of death and discuss it at the end of the month.”

“So, they didn’t tell me what killed my son. I went through this barbaric experience at the hospital, tomorrow it could be somebody else’s turn. I am urging the Ghana Health Service to look into this,” she fumed.

The late Nana Owusu Obeng was a level 200 law student at the University of Ghana in addition to being a professional dancer.

The DWP Academy has not yet made a public announcement regarding the development.

  • Kenya’s president signs contentious healthcare law

Kenya’s president signs contentious healthcare law

Kenya’s President William Ruto has given permission for a new law that will bring major changes to the country’s health sector. This is the most significant update in over 20 years.

His plan is centered on making sure everyone gets healthcare. It means that everyone who works has to give 2. 75% of their pay to a special fund for health.

The government promises to make healthcare cheaper and easier to get for poor Kenyans.

However, many Kenyans do not like it because they think of it as a new tax.

They are saying that Mr. Ruto has introduced more measures that are making the cost of living crisis worse. This is despite the fact that he won elections last year by promising to help families with their financial difficulties.

Some people are worried that the new healthcare fund will be corrupted, just like the current one. This means that they might not be able to get the healthcare services that they should be getting.

However, parliament has supported Mr Ruto by approving the Social Health Insurance Bill, along with three other bills related to health, on Tuesday.

Right now, people in Kenya have to give an amount of money every month to a health insurance program called NHIF. The amount they have to pay can be anywhere from 150 Kenyan shillings to 1,700 shillings.

It will be changed to a new fund, where you need to give at least twice the amount of money, and most people with jobs will give a greater percentage of their earnings.

Susan Nakhumicha, Kenya’s Health Minister, said that the new plan is good because it will let people in Kenya from all backgrounds give money based on how much they earn.

She said that people who earn less money have to pay a larger portion of their income compared to those who are wealthier.

Employers, who have to add money to their employees’ contributions, disagree with the 2. 75% deduction because they think it is too much.

They are saying that this will harm businesses and make the cost of living even worse. This caused people in Kenya to protest earlier this year.

In June, Mr. Ruto approved the Finance Act, a new law that made employers and employees pay a 1. 5% This money will help the government create affordable housing because prices are very high, and many city-dwelling Kenyans cannot afford to buy homes.

Some groups that focus on health and society have also criticized the health plan, stating that the 2. 75% deduction is significant. This is especially concerning because fuel prices and living costs have recently increased.

In September, the Kenya Faith Based Health Services Consortium stated that this rate burdens struggling individuals who earn a fixed income and have the responsibility of supporting big families and various services.

Kenyan people must sign up for the National Social Health Insurance Fund to use public health services. If they don’t register, they won’t be able to get these services.

The government will support Kenyans who cannot give money to the fund by providing 26 billion shillings.

The new fund will replace the current NHIF. The NHIF has lost a lot of money due to corruption, which means many people who have been paying for healthcare cannot access it.

Some people in Kenya are worried that the new fund will have more money, and this could lead to more corruption. They are also concerned that they will still not receive healthcare from the government.

Critics are worried that the new social healthcare organization will use most of the money it collects on things like paperwork and staff salaries, instead of putting it towards actual medical care.

  • Sunak promises to support Israel during its ‘darkest hour’

Sunak promises to support Israel during its ‘darkest hour’

Rishi Sunak promised to support Israel during its toughest times and expressed his desire for Israel to succeed in its conflict with Hamas.

After a meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli counterpart, the Prime Minister said that the Palestinian people are also suffering from the actions of Hamas.

He said that the UK agrees with Israel’s ability to protect itself, as allowed by international law.

Mr Netanyahu said that Israel needs ongoing help for a lengthy period of conflict.

The two leaders are meeting as part of Mr Sunak’s two-day visit to the broader area. Number 10 has stated that he will go to Saudi Arabia later today, along with visiting other cities in the region.

The Israeli Prime Minister compared the Palestinian militant group to the Nazis, and described the conflict with Hamas as a battle that involves all civilized countries.

Israeli warplanes and artillery have been continuously attacking Gaza after an unusual Hamas attack on Israel resulted in the death of over 1,400 people on 7 October.

Gaza is still being restricted, with Israel stopping the delivery of water, electricity, and fuel.
Talking to the press after the meeting with Mr. Sunak said that the UK fully supports Israel’s ability to protect itself, but it should do so while following the laws of the international community.

The UK prime minister said that Israel is being very careful to avoid hurting innocent people, which is completely different from what Hamas is doing.

He also said that he was glad that Israel announced on Wednesday that it would allow aid to enter southern Gaza from Egypt.

Israel has said that it will not let any help go through its own land until the people captured by Hamas in an earlier attack are set free.

After meeting Israel’s president Isaac Herzog before, No 10 said Mr Sunak has expectations for more positive advancements in providing help to Gaza.

Before, the leader of the government said that Israel had experienced a very terrible act of violence committed by Hamas.

The visit is happening right after US President Biden’s visit, because world leaders are working hard to stop the conflict between Hamas and prevent it from affecting the whole area.

After visiting Israel, Mr Sunak will have a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman while he is in Saudi Arabia. We have not yet figured out the specific plans for the rest of the trip.

“I would like Rema to take me to prom”– South African singer Tyla

South African singer Tyla Laura Seethal, professionally known as Tyla, has shared her interest in going on a date with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema.

During a recent interview with Apple Music, Tyla was asked about the celebrity she would like to take to prom, and she mentioned Rema as her choice.

This revelation has sparked the interest of fans and the media, as it suggests a potential romantic interest or admiration between the two talented artists.

She said, “Rema would be cute. I hung out with him last year, and we took pictures together. That was so dramatic.

“After that situation I realised that Hollywood is just vibes like you can’t trust everything you see cause that looked like a scandal. Even I started believing [we were dating]. But we are just friends.”

It will be recalled that Rema sparked relationship rumours with Wizkid’s ex, Justin Skye, after he thrilled her to a birthday date in August.

There have been rumors in the past suggesting that Rema might be in a romantic relationship with his label mate Ayra Starr. However, Ayra Starr has publicly debunked these rumors, describing Rema as a “brother.”

This clarification from Ayra Starr suggests that their relationship is a close and platonic one rather than a romantic involvement.

  • Biden signs agreement with Egypt to permit help

Biden signs agreement with Egypt to permit help

US President Joe Biden has made an agreement with Egypt to provide some assistance to Gaza in order to help with a serious problem related to the well-being of people, during the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

While visiting Tel Aviv, Mr. Biden stated that Israel has the right to retaliate for the Hamas attack that caused the fighting.

The president of the United States said that Israel had been treated very unfairly, but he also mentioned that it is important not to let anger control us.

He also supported Israel’s claim that an explosion at a Gaza hospital on Tuesday was not caused by an air attack from Israel.

Palestinian officials are saying that a big explosion happened at Gaza’s Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, and it caused the death of 471 people. They believe that Israel is responsible for this tragic event. The incident has made the conflicts in the area even worse.
During a short visit to Tel Aviv, lasting less than eight hours, Mr. Biden agreed with the Israeli claim that the explosion was likely caused by a Palestinian rocket that went off course.

The president of America expressed his strong feelings of sadness and anger about the explosion.

Israel has blamed Islamic Jihad, a group in Gaza that carries out violent actions. Islamic Jihad said they did not cause the explosion.

Israel and Palestine have conflicting reports about the number of people who have died. A spokesperson from the foreign ministry, named Lior Haiat, mentioned on a social media site called X that a number of people, approximately “several dozen,” seemed to have been killed.

While on his way back home, Mr. Biden had a phone conversation with the Egyptian President, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, to talk about providing assistance to Gaza.

Mr Biden said that Mr. Sisi agreed to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza so that around 20 trucks carrying help for people in need can go into Gaza.

Egypt said that their president and Mr. Biden agreed to give aid to Gaza in a way that will last for a long time.

Mr Biden did not say when the border crossing will open, but White House spokesperson John Kirby said it will happen in a few days once the roads are fixed.
Mr Biden also said that $100 million in US funding will be provided to support Palestinian civilians.

According to someone who knows about this, the US president is thinking about asking Congress for $10 billion to help Israel. This may happen on Friday.

Many people are in great need of food, water, fuel, medicine, and other important things because Israel put up a blockade in the area 10 days ago.

Israel responded after the Palestinian group Hamas attacked and killed 1,400 people in a surprise attack from Gaza on October 7th.

According to Palestinian health officials, around 3,000 people have died in the Israeli attacks on Gaza as revenge. Over one million Palestinians have left their houses in Gaza – approximately half of the people.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that Israel will not stop food and other things from going into southern Gaza from Egypt.

Israel said that it will not let any help pass through its land until Hamas releases the people it is holding hostage.

MrBiden is going to talk on TV to the whole country from the White House on Thursday at 8:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (12:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time).

According to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, Mr. Biden will talk about how we are dealing with Hamas’s attacks on Israel and Russia’s ongoing cruel war on Ukraine in his speech.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi Sunak, is scheduled to go to Israel.

The US president visited Tel Aviv and was warmly welcomed by Mr Netanyahu. They held a joint press conference together.

MrBiden compared the Hamas attack on Israel to the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

MrBiden said that even though the scale may vary, he is confident that the horrors experienced in Israel have stirred up a deep and instinctual emotion, much like they did in the United States. But I want to warn you: even though you may feel that rage, try not to let it completely overwhelm you.

After the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, we were very angry in the United States. And while we looked for fairness and achieved fairness, we also made errors.

Referring to the explosion at the hospital, Mr. Biden said to Mr. Netanyahu that it seems like the other group, not him, is responsible based on what he has seen.

Reporters asked Mr. Biden why he thought Israel was not responsible, and he answered that he saw evidence from his defense department.

A high-ranking American official told CBS, who works closely with the BBC in the US, that the US has its own intelligence separate from Israel’s. This intelligence includes intercepted communications and satellite photos, which strongly suggest that Israel did not carry out the strike with a high level of certainty.

The person in charge said there were signs that the rocket may have been mistakenly fired by a group in Gaza.

MrBiden wanted to go from Israel to Jordan to meet with King Abdullah, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, and Egypt’s President Sisi. However, he canceled this part of his trip after the hospital explosion.

Jordan cancelled the meeting and strongly criticized what they called “a terrible disaster and a horrible crime of war”.

The White House said that both parties agreed to cancel that part of the visit.

  • Egyptian aid waiting to enter Gaza

Egyptian aid waiting to enter Gaza

Around 20 large vehicles carrying essential items like food, clean water, and medicine might soon get permission to go into Gaza.

Israel stopped supplying electricity, water, food, and medicine to Gaza after Hamas militants attacked on October 7th.

Since then, the 2. 1 million people living in Gaza have been quickly running out of necessary items.

However, important groups that help people warn that giving aid will only make a small impact.

“The UN says that at least 100 trucks of help are needed to support the many people living in Gaza,” explained Shaina Low from the Norwegian Refugee Council to the BBC.

Right now, it is believed that only 20 people will be allowed in.

Even before the war began, 1. 2 million people depended on food assistance from UNWRA, according to Juliette Touma, the spokesperson of the UN organization in Amman, who spoke to the BBC.

Many people in the Gaza Strip are very poor. Even before the war started, the situation was really bad. “It’s turning into a sorrowful situation,” she expressed.

US President Joe Biden and Egypt‘s President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi agreed to send a small amount of aid through Egypt’s Rafah crossing.

After a short trip to Israel, Mr Biden talked to Mr al-Sisi on the phone.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Israel will not stop goods from Egypt from reaching the people living in southern Gaza.

But the government only said yes to letting food, water, and medicine in – not things like fuel that are really needed.

A report from the United Nations about Gaza stated that fuel is very important, and not having enough fuel is making the water crisis worse. The machines that make saltwater clean and the machines that pump water can’t work without fuel.
The aid agreement provides some hope for the many people in Gaza. Before these discussions, it was not known how any help would reach regular people.

Israel has stated that it will not let any help come through its land until Hamas sets free the people they are holding as captives. Also, no aid has been able to move through the Rafah crossing in Egypt.

In an interview with the BBC’s Newshour, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry explained that the crossing into Gaza had been bombed four times, and there was no permission given for trucks and vehicles to enter Gaza safely.

“He said he wants to find out why the crossing is being attacked and who is attacking it. ”

It is not clear when exactly people who need help will receive aid. The road at the Rafah crossing needs fixing first so that trucks can go through.

However, according to Mohsen Sarhan, who works at the Egyptian Food Bank, there is not much time left before supplies run out. He said there were 120 trucks ready to bring help and they were waiting at the border to cross safely.

We are really mad because we found out that people in that area don’t have any water left. They don’t have any more body bags available. They don’t have anything left.

  • Sunak calls for advancement in Israel-Gaza aid discussions

Sunak calls for advancement in Israel-Gaza aid discussions

Rishi Sunak wants to continue helping Gaza after meeting with the Israeli president, according to Downing Street’s statement.

A spokesperson for the British Prime Minister said that he talked about the problem with President Isaac Herzog after reaching Israel for a two-day trip to the area.

He is also having discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As Western leaders try harder to stop the conflict with Hamas from getting worse.

Downing Street said that Mr. Sunak is pleased with Israel’s announcement on Wednesday about allowing aid to reach southern Gaza from Egypt.

Israel says it will not let any help go through its land until Hamas releases the people it kidnapped during their recent attack.

Mr Sunak and President Herzog both agreed that it is very important to provide immediate help to the people in Gaza who are in need of humanitarian support, according to a spokesperson from 10 Downing Street.

The UK prime minister said that he really hopes that they can make more progress in getting important food, water, and medicine to people.

Mr Sunak expressed gratitude to the Israeli president for helping British citizens affected by the attacks, including the families of British hostages, according to No 10.

The leaders promised to keep working very hard to free them, the statement said.

Western diplomatic trips refer to the visits made by diplomats from Western countries to other countries for the purpose of carrying out diplomatic activities and building relationships.

Before, Mr Sunak said Israel experienced a terrible act of terrorism done by Hamas, and the UK supports Israel.

The visit is happening just after President Biden’s visit, as leaders from around the world are trying harder to stop the conflict with Hamas from spreading to other areas.

After his visit to Israel, Mr. Sunak will go to other important cities in the area. His exact schedule is uncertain because many security and diplomatic elements are involved.

The journey, which happens after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s trip on Tuesday and Mr. Biden’s 24 hours later, shows that the Western leaders are working together.

These countries, called the Quint, include the US, UK, Germany, France, and Italy.

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, will come to visit Israel soon.

People close to Mr. Sunak said that besides supporting Israel and advocating for humanitarian aid to Gaza, he would also stress the importance of Israel conducting a ground invasion in a calm and measured manner.

Mr Biden’s visit was not the main focus of attention because there was a powerful explosion at a hospital in Gaza City on Tuesday, which caused the loss of lives.

The United States stated that the explosion seemed to be from a rocket that Palestinian militants tried to launch but didn’t work. This supports Israel’s explanation of what happened.

The hospital was hit by an Israeli air strike, according to Palestinian officials.

During Prime Minister’s Questions, Chancellor Sunak stated that British intelligence agencies are trying to find out who caused the explosion. He advised Members of Parliament not to make hasty decisions without proper evidence.

In a later statement, Mr Sunak said: “The attack on Al-Ahli Hospital should be an important moment for leaders in the area and around the world to work together to prevent more dangerous escalation of conflict.
The prime minister is visiting Gaza because Israel has warned about launching a ground attack there. People are worried about the living conditions in Gaza.

Israeli warplanes and heavy weapons have been attacking Gaza since over 1,400 people died in a huge attack by Hamas on Israel on 7 October.

Over 3,000 people have died in many air attacks on Gaza by the Israeli military.

After Hamas attacked, Israel stopped the delivery of fuel, water, food, and medical supplies to the area. They are also asking for the release of many people who were taken hostage into Gaza by Hamas.

Over one million people in Gaza have been forced to leave their homes. Gaza is extremely crowded, and there is not enough of necessary items like food and water.

Mr Sunak said that the UK is working nonstop to rescue hostages who were captured by Hamas.

At least seven people from Britain have been confirmed as dead after the attack on Israel. The UK government said that they are still looking for nine more UK citizens who have not been found.

In the meantime, James Cleverly, the Foreign Secretary, met with his Egyptian counterpart while he was on his own trip to the Middle East.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said they talked about ways to prevent the conflict from getting worse and how to send help to Gaza. Cleverly will also have meetings with leaders in Turkey and Qatar soon.
