I was mocked for leaving UK to marry a man in Techiman – Oheneni Adazoa

Radio and television personality Oheneni Adazoa recently shared the challenges she faced after leaving the UK to settle in Ghana.

She revealed that her decision made her the target of ridicule and name-calling in the early days.

Adazoa explained that she moved to Ghana to marry a man she had never met before.

After a year in Ghana, the couple opened a shop selling hair products and later expanded into cosmetics.

Despite the ridicule she faced, with people mocking her as “the woman who left abroad to marry in Techiman,” she remained resilient.

“It was a difficult period, but my faith kept me going,” Adazoa recounted.

She added that things got so tough that at one point, she owned only one brassiere, but she persevered through the hardship.

Bawumia isn’t in charge of the economy – Mike Oquaye Jnr

Mike Oquaye Jnr, the parliamentary candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, has asserted that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not in charge of managing Ghana’s economy.

He made this statement ahead of the NPP’s manifesto launch scheduled for today.

Oquaye Jnr’s comments were in response to a journalist’s question regarding the controversy surrounding Dr. Bawumia’s role as the head of the Economic Management Team (EMT).

While Dr. Bawumia has often stated that the economy is in good hands and that the government is committed to stabilizing the cedi, he has faced criticism as the economy continues to struggle.

Mr. Oquaye clarified that although Dr. Bawumia is indeed the head of the Economic Management Team (EMT), he does not make the key decisions regarding the economy.

He stated that those decisions are ultimately made by President Akufo-Addo.

“Dr. Bawumia was the head of the Economic Management Team. That is true, but Dr. Bawumia was not in charge of the economy, was he? Dr. Bawumia is not the president,” Oquaye Jnr. said in an interview with JoyNews.

In a media engagement four years ago, Dr. Bawumia defended the government’s economic performance, asserting that Ghana’s exchange rate has fared better under the Akufo-Addo-led administration than under the previous government.

He responded to criticisms about the cedi’s depreciation against major currencies by emphasizing that the current rate of depreciation is 50 percent lower than during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

“Fundamentally, we have managed the cedi much better by all accounts. We did arrest the depreciation of the cedi, and if you look at the records over the last eight years since the NPP came into power, the rate of cedi depreciation is 50 percent less than what it was before. That is what the data shows. So yes indeed, we have arrested the depreciation of the cedi and brought down inflation and interest rates.”

“We have also reduced the deficit, increased growth, reduced unemployment, and lowered the prices of electricity and water while creating many jobs. We are the only government that has been able to achieve this,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

Dr. Bawumia, having secured the NPP flagbearer position, is now vying for the Presidential seat in the upcoming December 7 elections.

He is set to present his policies during a manifesto launch being held in Takoradi today.

My song ‘Ma Wonsan’ stopped a marriage from collapsing – Esther Smith

United Kingdom-based Ghanaian gospel musician Esther Smith recently shared a powerful testimony of how her song “Ma Wonsan” helped save a marriage.

Speaking with Joy FM’s Kwame Dadzie on the Showbiz A-Z program, Esther recounted an encounter with a man who credited her song for preventing his divorce.

He told her, “Esther, your song ‘Ma Wonsan’ made me rethink divorcing my wife. It brought us back together.”

Esther emphasized that her music is divinely inspired, and she undergoes fasting and prayer before recording to ensure her songs carry the power to transform lives.

Currently in Ghana, Esther is preparing for two upcoming concerts.

She will perform at the Bantama Pentecost Church in Kumasi on August 25, 2024, and then in Accra on August 30, 2024.

The concerts will feature performances from fellow gospel artists including Joe Beecham, Lady Prempeh, Morris Babyface, Randy Agyemang, Adom Kiki, and Noble Nketsia, among others.

  • Adoption cases on the rise, 158 applications received in first half of 2024 – CAA

Adoption cases on the rise, 158 applications received in first half of 2024 – CAA

Ghana is experiencing a notable surge in adoption interest, with the Central Adoption Authority (CAA) reporting that 158 families have sought to adopt children in the first half of this year.

The CAA, under the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, also fielded 220 inquiries about adoption during this period.

Mr. Stephen Tikai Dombo, Head of the Authority, shared these figures and expressed optimism about the increasing trend in adoption applications.

While he couldn’t provide a year-on-year comparison, he confirmed a significant upward trajectory in the numbers.

“This represents a steady growth in the number of applications over the months, reflecting a strong and growing interest in adoption,” he told the Ghanaian Times in an exclusive interview.

The data shows a monthly fluctuation in applications: 24 in January, rising to 28 in March, peaking at 41 in April, and then declining to 17 by June.

Inquiries followed a similar pattern, with a high of 70 in January and a low of 18 in June.

Mr. Dombo noted that many families who have previously adopted are now looking to adopt additional children, viewing it as a profoundly rewarding act.

He shared a story from the Ashanti Region where a couple, after adopting a child, were blessed with twins of their own within the same year, underscoring the perceived blessings of adoption.

He encouraged more families to consider adoption and assured them of comprehensive support throughout the process.

Mr. Dombo also urged the public to support couples facing fertility challenges who turn to adoption.

He explained that adoption is a legal process that transfers parental rights and responsibilities to adoptive parents, with adoption orders typically being irreversible.

However, he pointed out that some applicants’ specific preferences, such as desired physical traits or age, can prolong the process if such children are not readily available.

“For instance, an applicant seeking a fair, hairy, and smart child might experience a longer wait time if such a child is not immediately available,” he explained.

He advised applicants to remain flexible to speed up their adoption.

The adoption process includes a mandatory six-month investigation to locate a child’s biological parents.

“If the parents are not found within this period, the investigation can be extended. After a year, if no biological parents are located, the child can be placed for adoption,” he clarified.

If the parents cannot be found within this timeframe, the search can be extended, and after a year, if no biological parents are identified, the child can be placed for adoption.

Mr. Dombo reassured the public about the well-being of adopted children, noting that Ghana is a member of the Hague Convention, which governs international adoptions.

“The CAA works closely with adoption authorities in other member countries to ensure that children adopted abroad are monitored and well-protected. Post-adoption monitoring is conducted quarterly, with reports including photos and videos sent to prove the children’s well-being,” he said.

The CAA collaborates with international adoption authorities to ensure that adopted children abroad are well cared for, with quarterly post-adoption monitoring including reports, photos, and videos to confirm their welfare.

Since January 2020, the CAA has visited 75 adoptive families across eight regions, offering psychosocial support, counseling, and necessary assistance to both the families and their adopted children.

“These visits provide psychosocial support, counselling, and any necessary assistance to both the families and the adopted children,” Mr Dombo said.

  • Don’t be surprised if King Promise wins Artiste of the year at 3music awards – Kojo Kinn

Don’t be surprised if King Promise wins Artiste of the year at 3music awards – Kojo Kinn

Kojo Kinn, the entertainment and media personality, has weighed in on the 2024 3Music Awards, expressing his thoughts on Stonebwoy‘s MVP nomination.

While Kinn acknowledges Stonebwoy’s strong performance this year and his deserving place on the list, he is skeptical about the Reggae/Dancehall artist’s chances of winning the top prize.

In an interview with Prince Benjamin on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital on August 17, Kinn noted, “It makes sense that Stonebwoy is a nominee, but winning is a different story.”

He added, “Stonebwoy has already secured the Artiste of the Year award at the TGMAs, but whether he will replicate that success at the 3Music Awards remains to be seen.”

Kinn drew comparisons between the two major awards shows, suggesting that the 3Music Awards often diverges from the GMAs’ choices.

He recalled the 2021 instances where Diana Hamilton won the top accolade at the GMAs while the 3Music Awards honored KiDi with their MVP award. Kinn hinted that a similar trend might occur this year.

Reflecting on past patterns, Kinn speculated that King Promise, who was recently disappointed at the GMAs where Stonebwoy took home the top prize, might have a better chance at the 3Music Awards.

He predicted that King Promise could potentially secure the Artiste of the Year/Most Valuable Player award at the 3Music Awards in September 2024.

“close examination and review, the public should not be shocked if King Promise receives the Artiste of the Year/Most Valuable Player honour at the 3Music Awards come September 2024.”

The 3Music Awards, organized by 3Music Network under the leadership of Madam Rashidatu Yamine Abdulai, has seen shifts in its winner selections, sometimes contrasting with the GMAs’ outcomes.

Accepting homosexual practices will spell doom for the country – Ohemaa Mercy

Ghanaian musician Ohemaa Mercy has urged national leaders to reject the push for legalizing homosexual activities in the country, despite advocacy from certain activists.

She believes that such acceptance would bring serious negative consequences to Ghana, citing her religious convictions that view homosexuality as abhorrent and harmful.

In an interview with 3FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Ohemaa Mercy described homosexuality as a taboo influenced by malevolent forces aimed at destroying lives.

She shared that individuals who have confided in her about their struggles with homosexuality often find themselves seeking spiritual intervention.

Mercy emphasized that she would not support the inclusion of homosexuality in legislation, warning that doing so could lead to divine disfavor and harm the nation.

“For me, where I am standing in the spiritual side, you can’t control it. Anytime I meet young ladies and gentlemen that share their problems with me, especially with this, they open up to you. I have a lot of calls. And you could see that the person is not of him or herself. I will never allow that.

“It [homosexuality] is something that God hates. And if you are listening to me and you are going through that, you need the hand of God. You are not of yourself. I will never stand on the fact that they need us to get them close, to help them get out. But the fact that they want us to put it on the bill to accept it will not help this nation. It will actually take off the face of God from Ghana and incur God’s wrath,” she warned.

The Anti-LGBT+ Bill remains under review by parliament, with its final status yet to be determined by the Supreme Court.

The fact that I always wear a cap doesn’t mean I am bald – Dr Cryme

Darlington Kwesi Agyekum, widely known as Dr. Cryme, has addressed speculation about his hairstyle.

In a recent interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, he clarified that his frequent use of caps does not indicate baldness.

Dr. Cryme explained that some people assume he’s bald because of his regular cap-wearing, but he finds this amusing.

He highlighted that he has been braiding his hair for years, and it has grown quite long.

He assured that his hair grows quickly and if he skips a haircut for a couple of weeks, he faces challenges at the barber’s.

Dr. Cryme attributes the rumors to the nature of being a public figure, where personal choices often lead to various opinions.

“I’ve also heard some rumours where people are saying that the fact that I’m seen constantly wearing a cap might be because I have a bald head.

“But it’s funny, especially for someone that I have been braiding my hair since I started music such that my hair is now so long,” he said in an interview with Amansan Krakye as seen by MyNewsGh.com

“By God’s grace I do not suffer for my hair to grow and if I should leave my hair untouched for a week or two it would be a problem at the barbering shop.

“I think saying I might be bald because I’m always wearing a cap is someone’s opinion especially being a celebrity and an icon in the eyes of people who will definitely talk,” he posited.

  • Peace pact isn’t enough to stop election violence – Apostle Lamptey

Peace pact isn’t enough to stop election violence – Apostle Lamptey

Apostle Abraham Lamptey, General Overseer of Believers Worship House of Worship International, has underscored the necessity of political parties not just signing peace pacts but genuinely understanding and valuing peace as we approach the 2024 elections.

In a recent interview with Accra-based 3FM, he expressed that the real issue isn’t just the act of signing peace agreements but rather the deeper comprehension and commitment to peace.

He pointed out that despite the signing of these pacts, election-related violence persists.

For instance, the previous election saw eight fatalities, highlighting that mere agreements are insufficient without a true appreciation for peace.

Apostle Lamptey emphasized that achieving lasting peace requires more than just formal commitments; it demands a societal shift away from greed, selfishness, and self-centeredness.

He suggested that fostering personal responsibility and advocacy for peace can help build a more harmonious society.

“What is the point of signing peace pacts if everyone understands peace? We sign these pacts and still witness election violence. For instance, eight people died in the last election, and we haven’t addressed it. Signing peace pacts is not enough; it is the understanding and valuing of peace that truly matters.

“When greed, selfishness, and self-centeredness are eliminated from society, peace becomes automatic. You don’t need everyone to avoid these traits to achieve peace; you create it for yourself. Be an advocate of peace,” he said.
This perspective comes in light of recent news where National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, announced that his party would refrain from signing the peace pact ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections.

Guru is a victim of sabotage by UG SRC – Campaign Manager

Guru NKZ‘s campaign has encountered a setback due to alleged sabotage, according to his campaign spokesperson, Andy Asante Okyere Mensah.

In an exclusive interview with Prince Benjamin (PB) on Entertainment Capital on Accra 100.5 FM on August 17, 2024, Okyere Mensah revealed that Guru has been disqualified from the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential race at the University of Ghana (UG), Legon.

The UG-SRC Vetting Committee found that Guru did not meet the residency requirement outlined in the UG-SRC constitution, which led to his disqualification.

Okyere Mensah claimed that Guru was poised to win the election by a significant margin and suggested that the disqualification was an effort to prevent this outcome.

“Let’s do things right and be honest about it.

“Guru would have won the election by a landslide, hands down. This is what some people want to avoid. It’s definitely [a sabotage],” Andy Asante Okyere Mensah said.

He clarified that the alleged sabotage was not orchestrated by UG management but by factions within the student body and the SRC itself.

He declined to name names but clarified it was not a UG management-led sabotage but one by “the students, the student body, the SRC”.

“We’re working on [investigating] it and at the appropriate time, we’ll know those behind it,” Okyere Mensah disclosed.

The campaign team is currently seeking clarification on the disqualification by addressing the issue with the election commission, the UG-SRC judiciary board, and the Dean of Students.

“We’re trying as a team to exhaust the internal mechanism to see what comes of it” before any escalation, he added.

Okyere Mensah expressed hope that UG management would review the situation and consider a constitutional reform that could allow Guru to run despite his nonresident status.

Guru, who is a level 300 student and was running in his final opportunity for the SRC presidency, was campaigning alongside Jeffery Adu-Yeboah (Jay Lit) for the vice presidential position as part of the Maralit ticket.

When approached for a comment, Guru declined due to legal advice.

  • 19 pubs fined GHC475,000 for flouting law that prohibits smoking at public places

19 pubs fined GHC475,000 for flouting law that prohibits smoking at public places

A recent enforcement action has resulted in 19 entertainment venues and restaurants across Greater Accra and the Central Region being fined a total of GH¢475,000 for breaching the smoke-free regulations.

This enforcement action targeted various establishments, including pubs, nightclubs, and recreational centers, each receiving a fine of GH¢25,000 for disregarding the law.

The enforcement operation, which took place over three nights, was conducted by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service.

The inspections covered 51 venues in areas such as Tema, Accra, and Kasoa.

The smoke-free law aims to safeguard public health by banning smoking in indoor public spaces, workplaces, public transport, and recreational areas to shield non-smokers from the dangers of secondhand smoke.

Dr. Olivia Agyekumwaa Boateng, Director of Tobacco and Substance Abuse at the FDA, reported that 19 establishments were caught on camera violating this law.

Violators are subject to substantial penalties under the Public Health Act 2012, which stipulates fines up to GH¢9,000 or imprisonment for up to three years.

For ongoing infractions, additional daily fines may be imposed.

The recent administrative fines of GH¢25,000 are part of a broader effort to enforce compliance.

“A person who contravenes any part of the Public Health Act 2012, part six, is liable to a fine more than 750 penalty units (fine GH¢9000) or a term of imprisonment of not more than three years. In the case of a continuing offence, additional fine of 10 penalty units applies for each day during which the offence continuous. An administrative charge of GH¢25,000 as per fees and charges,” she added.

Dr. Boateng highlighted the serious health risks associated with secondhand smoke, which can lead to respiratory infections, asthma, cardiovascular diseases, lung cancer, and sudden infant death syndrome.

“Exposure to secondhand smoke can cause various health issues, including respiratory infections, asthma, heart diseases, stroke, lung cancer and sudden infant syndrome among others,” she added.

To address these issues, the FDA has launched a year-long initiative to bolster awareness and enforcement of smoke-free policies across the country.

This includes developing educational materials in local languages and engaging stakeholders such as hoteliers and the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The FDA’s efforts are supported by research indicating that tobacco-related illnesses result in over 6,700 deaths annually in Ghana, contributing to 3% of the nation’s total mortality.

Dr. Boateng urged smokers to quit and called on the public to report violations to help improve public health safety.

The FDA remains committed to enforcing these regulations and enhancing the health environment throughout the nation.

  • I haven’t received my salary as Creative Arts Director at NCC for 5 years – Socrate Safo

I haven’t received my salary as Creative Arts Director at NCC for 5 years – Socrate Safo

Socrate Safo, a movie producer and former Director of Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture, has disclosed that he went without a salary during his five years at the state agency.

Safo made this revelation during a panel discussion on Peace FM on August 17.

His comments came in response to grievances from musicians Nicholas Omane Acheampong and Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, who recently expressed dissatisfaction over feeling neglected by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) despite their support during the party’s rise to power.

“I was appointed to serve at the National Commission on Culture. When I got there, I met an abandoned place. None of the workers were in their office because the building had become a death trap. So I went in and fixed the whole place to make it safe. I did a whole lot of programs within the creative arts front with my own money because there was no money there. There was not a single computer at the commission. I got some computers and two printers to go and revamp the whole place, including electricity, with my own money. I did programmes with my own money and not government budget, but while I did all these, I was not being paid. Whenever I pursued my salary, I was told we were working on it,” Safo narrated.

He continued: “I was in the office when I was informed that somebody had come there with a letter that she’s been appointed to be the substantive head of the Commission. People vowed to resist my removal. When the woman came, I sat with her, and it emerged that she was given the appointment letter by one of the then Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Asenso Boakye. Initially, I was the Executive Secretary of the Commission, and that position was given to her, and I was moved to Director of Creative Arts at the Commission. For all the time I worked there, I chased my salaries, but I was not paid a dime. I have chased my salaries to date; I have even taken the matter to the Labour Commission before. For five years I have never been paid; no salary for even a month.”
Safo shared his own frustrations, detailing how he and other creative arts professionals contributed their own resources to campaign for the NPP.

When he was appointed to the National Commission on Culture following the party’s 2016 electoral victory, he found the office in disrepair.

The building was unsafe, and he personally funded repairs and improvements, including acquiring computers and printers.

Despite his significant contributions, Safo was not paid for his work. He pursued his salary repeatedly but was met with excuses and delays.

He even took his case to the Labour Commission but to no avail. Safo expressed his ongoing support for the NPP, citing its effective governance policies as his motivation, though he criticized the party for its failure to support its grassroots workers adequately.

Safo urged the NPP to better acknowledge and reward the dedication of those who work hard at the grassroots level to help the party achieve its goals.

  • Venue for Kirk Franklin & Maverick City’s performance changed due to alleged price hike by ICGC

Venue for Kirk Franklin & Maverick City’s performance changed due to alleged price hike by ICGC

The venue for the Kingdom World Tour 2024 event in Accra, Ghana, has been changed.

Originally scheduled to be held at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Christ Temple East on Teshie Rasta Road, the event will now take place at the First Love Centre, located at UPSA in Legon.

Doors will open at 5 PM as planned.

According to the organizers, Culture Management Group (CMG) Gospel and Faith Collective, the venue change was necessitated by an unforeseen situation.

Just 24 hours before the event, the management of ICGC Christ Temple East unexpectedly increased the rental price by over 80%, a move that CMG Gospel described as both shocking and deeply disappointing.

This sudden escalation in cost created significant complications, prompting the need for a last-minute venue change.

“The disruption stems from a sudden and unexpected increase in the venue price,” they explained. “Unfortunately, only 24 hours before showtime, the venue’s management increased the rental price by more than 80%.”

CMG Gospel noted they were “shocked and deeply disappointed by this change in plans by the management of ICGC Christ Temple East,” adding that “this sudden increase in cost has caused unnecessary complications for all involved.”

CMG Gospel expressed their regret for any inconvenience this may cause and assured attendees that the event will proceed smoothly at the new location.

The Kingdom World Tour 2024 will feature performances by renowned American gospel artist Kirk Franklin and the acclaimed contemporary worship group Maverick City Music.

Franklin, known for his groundbreaking work in making gospel music accessible to younger audiences since the 1990s, continues to inspire with his dynamic sound.

Maverick City Music, a group that has risen to international fame since its inception in 2018, is celebrated for hits like ‘Promises,’ ‘Man Of Your Word,’ and ‘Jireh.’

Their distinctive approach to gospel music has resonated widely, particularly among younger generations.

Barcelona secures win at Valencia to kick off La Liga campaign

Former Germany boss Hansi Flick‘s team had to rally after falling behind when Hugo Duro slotted home a Diego Lopez cross past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The first half was largely uneventful until Duro’s 44th-minute strike sparked the match into life.

Duro nearly added another before Robert Lewandowski equalized by finishing Lamine Yamal’s driven pass.

Valencia impressed before halftime but struggled to maintain their momentum.

Barcelona took control in the second half, with Lewandowski converting a penalty in the 49th minute after Raphinha was fouled in the box.

Yamal, just 17, posed a constant threat with his tricky dribbling down the wings.

Though Barcelona had moments of sloppiness in midfield, Valencia’s counter-attacks kept them on their toes.

However, Flick’s side ultimately managed the game effectively, stifling Valencia’s advances and securing the victory.

Barcelona, who finished as runners-up last season, 10 points behind Real Madrid, will next face Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, 24 August, at 18:00 BST.

I quit school at Form 2 just to travel abroad – Radio presenter Oheneni Adazoa

Genevieve Abrefa Yeboah, popularly known as Oheneni Adazoa, a well-known radio presenter with Kumasi-based Sompa FM, recently shared her reason for not completing technical school education during an interview on the Delay Show.

She revealed that she dropped out of school in Form 2 because of her strong desire to travel abroad, influenced by her parents, who had already done so.

After attending Oda Anglican JHS, she enrolled at St. Francis Technical School in Oda but did not finish her studies.

“I went to Oda Anglican JHS and then continued to the St. Francis Technical School at Oda, but I didn’t complete. I quit school at Form 2 because I was bent on travelling outside of the country.

“At the time, as a young girl, I was so obsessed with wanting to travel abroad; I was always having fun with my friends, and so I couldn’t focus on my studies, so I quit school. After I stopped, I went to learn how to plait hair for one year in readiness to travel abroad,” the popular presenter said.

Instead, she chose to focus on traveling, spending a year learning how to plait hair in preparation for her journey.

With the help of a middleman, she secured a visa, which her mother paid for, and in 2001, she moved to London.
“I went to London, where I landed a cleaning job while perching with a friend. After some time, I left my friend’s house, and I rented a place for myself.”

There, she found a job as a cleaner and initially stayed with a friend before renting her own place.

However, due to the challenges of living in London without legal documents, she decided to return to Ghana in 2005.

At the height of his success with hit songs like “Brother Brother” and “Mansa,” he was eager to find out how much he had earned.

To his dismay, he learned that his total earnings amounted to only GH¢500. Upset by the small sum, Bisa Kdei told the official on the other end of the line not to contact him again with such insignificant amounts.

He recounted this experience during an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM.

”I received a call that I had some royalties to collect when I had brother brother and Mansa. I was excited about the news so I asked how much and I was told I had a total of GH¢500 so I told the official who called me not to call me again,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

Why is no one condemning Mahama for insulting Akufo-Addo? – Kwamena Duncan quizzes

Former Central Regional Minister Kwamena Duncan has expressed concern over the lack of scrutiny directed towards former President John Dramani Mahama for insulting President Akufo-Addo.

Duncan finds it surprising that there has been little to no reaction to Mahama’s remarks.

During former president John Dramani Mahama’s final campaign tour, which concluded in the North-East region, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer criticized the ruling party’s governance, labeling it a “political scam.”

Speaking at a gathering in Kambatiak, Mahama voiced his disappointment in the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he accused of orchestrating what he described as the “biggest political scam in the history of the Fourth Republic.”

“This government has been a disaster; indeed, I say that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration is the biggest political scam in the history of the Fourth Republic,” Mahama stated.

Duncan did not take these remarks lightly, accusing Mahama of engaging in politics of insults.

He argued that if Vice President Bawumia had made similar comments about Mahama, there would have been significant backlash.

Duncan is, therefore, calling on major stakeholders to admonish Mahama against engaging in such political rhetoric.

You did no wrong – Opanyin Agyekum tells Rev. Father who performed King Paluta’s ‘Aseda’

Rev. Father Peter Kusi Twumasi, the acting Rector of St. Stephen Rectorate in Bodomase, Ashanti Region, has issued an apology after leading his congregation in singing King Paluta’s song “Aseda.”

The incident, captured in a widely circulated social media video, showed the congregation singing along with enthusiasm, which sparked a range of reactions and led to the priest’s apology.

In response to the controversy, Professor Kofi Agyekum, a renowned linguist known as Opanyin Agyekum, questioned the criticism, asking, “What defines Gospel music?”

He asserts that there is nothing wrong with the Reverend Father’s action, asserting the song contains impactful lyrics.

“I don’t see anything wrong with the lyrics. The impact is there, why should the Reverend Father apologise,” Opanyin Agyekum stated.

Kwame Sefa Kayi the host of the show also asserted even ArchBishop Palmer Buckle sings Bob Marley’s redemption song asserting there is nothing wrong with Reverend Fathers singing meaningful songs.

Free Tertiary: Mahama’s promise is an act of a desperate politician – Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang

Mr. Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, the former Constituency Chairman for New Juaben North representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, has strongly criticized Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, over his commitment to provide free tertiary education.

Agyeman labeled Mahama’s pledge as “whimsical” and indicative of a politician in a desperate bid for power.

He argued that such a policy is unrealistic, pointing out that no country worldwide has successfully implemented free tertiary education on a large scale.

He suggested that Mahama’s promise emerged from a reactive stance during his recent visit to the University of Ghana, aiming to counter the NPP’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program.

Agyeman questioned the feasibility of this new proposal, recalling that Mahama had previously stated he would not prioritize free education even with substantial funds.

Agyeman expressed concerns about the financial feasibility of Mahama’s plan, estimating that implementing free tertiary education would require approximately 4.4 billion Ghana Cedis in the first year.

He emphasized the success of the Free SHS initiative, which has significantly improved literacy rates among 4.5 million students, and doubted Mahama’s capacity to fund his new promise.

He accused Mahama of lacking a concrete agenda and suggested that the promise was more about rehabilitating his image than presenting a feasible policy.

Agyeman also highlighted Mahama’s past administration, which had imposed user fees on university students, questioning the authenticity of his current promise.

Concluding his remarks on Peace FM, Agyeman characterized Mahama’s proposal as a desperate move rather than a well-thought-out policy initiative.

Kirk Franklin recently discussed his decision to distance himself from his biological mother on the “Funky Friday” podcast.

He shared a touching memory from twenty years ago involving a family intervention intended to support his sister, who was struggling with addiction and had just been released from prison.

During this intervention, Franklin, who was the only family member actively trying to assist his sister, faced a challenging moment when his mother introduced her new husband.

The situation escalated when an argument between Franklin and his mother’s new husband led to his mother choosing to leave with her husband, abandoning Franklin and his sister.

Franklin described the deep emotional impact of his mother’s decision to prioritize her new relationship over her children.

He revealed that this experience left him feeling deeply hurt and led him to a personal vow to never again tolerate such treatment.

This story highlights the complexities and emotional challenges involved in family dynamics, especially when dealing with issues of loyalty and support.

Franklin’s account illustrates how pivotal moments can shape personal boundaries and relationships.

  • New streetlights to be installed in communities, not highways – Titus-Glover

New streetlights to be installed in communities, not highways – Titus-Glover

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has clarified that the upcoming installation of 25,000 street lights will be focused on local communities rather than highways.

This clarification follows confusion after his comments at an August 6 town hall meeting, where he suggested that these lights were intended for poorly illuminated highways across the nation.

In his initial remarks, Titus-Glover explained that the government had supported the region with street lighting initiatives, starting with 10,000 lights in 2022, 20,000 in 2023, and an additional 25,000 planned for the current phase.

“Because criminals don’t like visibility, the government has supported the region to make sure we light up the entire region with some street lights. In phase one, 10,000 streetlights were distributed in 2022.

“20,000 in 2023 and in phase three, we are going to do 25,000. There is a process in place where a company wants to partner with the regional coordinating council to do a solar one on the Tema Motorway. They will do a pilot from Shiashie through the Airport to 37 to Accra Central.

“Then we look at the N1 all the way to Weija Gbawe. Then we come to Achimota, the Overhead, through the Forestry Commission, the Achimota Police Station, GIMPA and then we make a turn towards Fiesta Royale.”

He outlined a pilot project involving solar lights on the Tema Motorway, covering routes from Shiashie to Accra Central and along the N1 highway.

“These streetlights are not the normal highway lights, it is within the communities. They are different lights from what we have on highways. So that will take another level, to look at it holistically. But for now, what we have distributed is meant for the communities where there are no lights, and visibility is poor because of the absence of these lights, that has been the focus.

However, Titus-Glover has now specified that the current project will focus on enhancing lighting in local communities, not on major roads.

“When it comes to highway one, that’s a different thing we want to look at, through the traffic light matter.”

He emphasized that these street lights differ from those used on highways and that a separate plan is needed to address highway lighting comprehensively.

Residents have expressed concerns about the dangers of traveling on poorly lit roads, highlighting accidents on routes such as Baah Yard to Pokuase, George Walker Bush Highway, and the Accra-Tema Motorway.

While the community lighting project is underway, major road lighting issues remain unaddressed.

The Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Nasir Ahmed Yartey, clarified that the maintenance of faulty street lights falls under local authorities, not the Roads Ministry.

This is how Dr. Likee’s ex-girlfriend left him due to financial challenges

Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, popularly known as Dr. Likee, recently opened up about the financial hardships he faced in his early acting career and their impact on his personal life.

In an interview with ZionFelix, Dr. Likee shared that during those early days, he often returned home from movie shoots without any earnings, which led to dissatisfaction and complaints from his then-girlfriend, who was also the mother of his child.

He recounted the difficulty of having to explain to his partner that he had no money to bring home despite working on set.

“In those days, things were not easy. Sometimes, you would tell your woman that you were going on set to shoot a movie, but you would come back with nothing in hand, and she would start complaining that you couldn’t help her,” he said.

This led to frustrations and doubts about his ability to provide, causing tension in their relationship.

Dr. Likee pointed out that many men in the entertainment industry face similar issues, where partners might be tempted to leave for someone who can offer financial stability.

He referenced the story of the late South African reggae artist Lucky Dube, suggesting that success often follows shortly after a partner departs.

He explained, “A beautiful woman will surely meet a man who will show her ‘love’ with money when she steps out. Once that happens, she will leave you because you have nothing to offer her. But the moment the lady leaves is the very moment things begin to work out for you.

“This happened to Lucky Dube… After the woman left, things began to get better for him. Then the child would ask why she didn’t stay with the father.

“Most stars face these challenges. Their marriages are always something else if the Holy Spirit is not involved,” he said.

Afrobeats: Not everybody has to make conscious music – M3nsa to Buju Banton

M3nsa has strongly criticized Buju Banton following the reggae icon’s comments about contemporary Afrobeats music.

M3nsa Bondzie Ansah, known for his work with FOKN Bois and as a socio-political commentator, shared his views in an exclusive interview with Prince Benjamin on Class 91.3 FM on August 15, 2024.

Buju Banton, during his appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, disparaged Afrobeats, calling it profit-driven, lacking in depth, and disconnected from Africa’s current issues.

He lamented that modern African artists had strayed from the path set by legends like Fela Kuti, Salif Keita, and Youssou N’dour.

Banton also criticized the lack of recognition given to Jamaica’s role in shaping global music and suggested that Afrobeats was, in his view, “f–kery.”

In response, M3nsa expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that music should be appreciated for its diversity in themes and styles.

He questioned why genres of Black origin are not subject to the same standards of social consciousness as reggae.

M3nsa argued that a musician’s personal impact and contribution to their community are more significant than their choice of lyrical content.

He took issue with Banton’s tone, finding it condescending and out of touch.

M3nsa pointed out that not all musicians should be expected to address socio-political issues in their work. He criticized Banton for making judgments while having his own controversial past, including his recent prison stint and his history with a homophobic hit song.

M3nsa highlighted the challenges African artists face in the global music industry and defended the right of musicians to explore various themes. He stressed that while he values lyrical content, it is crucial to allow a range of expressions in music.

“And you know not everybody has to make the same kind of music.

“He just sounds a little bit out of touch and for me. The tone is very condescending because I don’t see him telling African Americans or rappers who are from the hood where they are also struggling and there’s poverty and all those things – I don’t see him telling them to change their lyrics, you know.

“Not everybody has to make conscious music. Sometimes, we also want to take our minds off things and so I get it. You know me, I’m into lyricism, lyrical dexterity and all that stuff but allow people to make what they make.

“Because you can be making conscious music and in your personal life you can be getting up to no good.

“He himself is an example. He’s just come out of jail for trying to, you know, transport cocaine, you know, and his biggest song was a very homophobic song, so what’s he talking about?

“You don’t know what other musicians are doing for their communities.

“And you understand the competition; how difficult it is for us Africans to get into these spaces.

“I get it we can’t all be making odo [love] songs. Yes, let there be variety and so on and so forth

“But, for me, I don’t think it warrants him talking like that, talking down on us like that.

“And that’s my take. Just make what you make and let us also make what we make. Not everybody fits into that box he’s putting us into.

“That’s what I would say,” the Eyes But No Eyes hitmaker said.

M3nsa’s latest project, “Obaa No,” is a modern take on Highlife, created in collaboration with renowned multi-instrumentalist Kwame Yeboah.

The renowned boxer, also known as Braimah Kamoko, claimed that Bawumia lacks a compelling message.

“People will vote against him,” he predicted.

In his conversation with host Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang, Bukom Banku highlighted widespread dissatisfaction among the youth, saying, “Ghana’s situation is dire, and the youth are voicing their frustration.”

The boxer, who is often referred to as African Mayweather, accused both President Nana Akufo-Addo and Bawumia of mismanaging the country.

He criticized Bawumia’s tenure as Vice President, suggesting that his economic claims were false.

“What real message does the NPP have for the people of Ghana? They seem to lack one,” Bukom Banku remarked.

I’ve had the calling to be a pastor since childhood – Victoria Lebene

Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Victoria Lebene recently revealed that her journey to becoming a pastor has been a long time coming, with the call to ministry being present since her childhood.

During an interview with Joy Prime TV on August 16, 2024, she reflected on how, as a child, pastors often told her mother that she was destined to become an “Osofo Maame” (pastor’s wife).

At the time, Lebene assumed this meant she would one day marry a pastor, not realizing that she herself would take on a significant role in the ministry.

Lebene’s transition into preaching surprised many when, on April 22, 2024, she began sharing biblical teachings and heartfelt messages during an Instagram live session.

She has since made it clear that her ministry is not for social media attention but stems from a genuine calling she has felt deeply for years.

“Yes, I knew. I had that call for a very long time. When I was very little, pastors would tell my mom, ‘This child will be Osofo Maame’ and I actually thought I was going to marry a pastor to be that kind. Never did I know that it would toll towards that line where I would particularly be in the middle of the whole picture as a woman of God,” she said.

Veteran Gospel artist Esther Smith has expressed her admiration for the new generation of Ghanaian Gospel musicians, highlighting their impressive contributions to the genre.

In an interview with 3FM, Smith praised talents like Joe Mettle and Kweku Teye, mentioning how she even uses Mettle’s songs for prayer, calling him “a very good worshipper,” and described Teye as “fantastic.”

While acknowledging the diversity in talent within the current gospel music scene, Smith emphasized that there are many exceptional artists emerging today.

She noted, “I think the new ones are doing very well because, somebody like Joe Mettle; I use his songs to pray, he’s a very good worshipper. And this guy, Kweku Teye… he’s fantastic. They are also doing their best,” Smith remarked.

Esther Smith is a celebrated Ghanaian gospel singer, known for her powerful voice and uplifting lyrics in hit songs like “Nipa,” “Me Da Wase,” and “Oguamaa Bi.” After a break from the spotlight, she recently announced her return with a live concert tour scheduled for August 2024 in Accra and Kumasi.

  • Think deeply when composing songs – Minister OJ to artists

Think deeply when composing songs – Minister OJ to artists

Minister OJ recently voiced his concerns over the current state of music lyrics, emphasizing the need for deeper, more meaningful content.

Speaking on the program Journey to Heaven on No. 1 FM, 105.3, hosted by Taller Dee, the esteemed singer-songwriter shared insights into how he has avoided falling into the trap of cliché and shallow lyricism in his own work.

OJ observed that many contemporary musicians seem to be recycling phrases like “Nobody likes you,” leading to a lack of freshness in their songs. He urged these artists to explore more profound themes, highlighting that the Bible encourages believers to “sing a new song unto the Lord.” According to him, authentic and impactful songwriting requires delving deep into one’s soul to find unique expressions that resonate.

He likened music to a ladder, suggesting that songs have the potential to elevate listeners to higher realms of experience.

By tapping into the depths of their spirituality, musicians can receive inspiration and words that bring light and life to their lyrics. Without this deeper connection, he warned, the lyrics of gospel music risk becoming repetitive and devoid of meaning.

OJ also paid tribute to legendary gospel musicians such as Yaw Sarpong and Prof. Mark Abraham, who influenced him with the depth of their lyrics. He noted that to achieve similar depth, he too reaches deep within himself when composing.

Another key to writing powerful lyrics, according to OJ, is mastering the language in which one writes. He emphasized the difference between merely speaking a language and truly understanding it, pointing out that many Ghanaians speak English without fully grasping its nuances.

This, he argued, limits the potential for creating rich and layered lyrics.

OJ shared that his own commitment to excellence in songwriting is rooted in his educational background, including his studies in music at Prempeh College, where he also learned Asante Twi, and his English literature education.

This dual linguistic capability allows him to craft lyrics in both Twi and English with depth and precision.

Finally, he stressed the importance of integrating music, arts, and culture into senior high school education, as it was during his time.

His studies at the School of Performing Arts, Theatre Arts, University of Ghana, Legon, further deepened his understanding and appreciation of the arts, shaping his approach to music and songwriting.

Look out for yourselves when endorsing politicians – Nana Poku Ashis to creatives

Nana Poku Ashis, a prominent artiste manager, has urged Ghanaian creatives to adopt a more business-focused approach when engaging with political parties.

In a recent interview with GhanaWeb Entertainment, Ashis emphasized the potential career risks associated with endorsing political parties and advised creatives to secure tangible benefits from such transactions.

He noted that while personal affinity for a political party may be genuine, it is crucial for creatives to protect their careers by ensuring that their support translates into concrete gains.

“Why should you sell your entire career? You are not a politician. Right after they finish what they have to do with you, they are done with you. It should be all business. Your music is helping them achieve something. What are you benefiting from them?” he stated.

Ashis cautioned against allowing political endorsements to jeopardize their professional futures, highlighting the importance of clearly defined terms and proper recognition for their contributions.

“It’s all about positioning. We’ve seen artistes who have gone to endorse parties and then their careers were shattered. So, if I, as an artiste, am throwing my weight around a political party, there should be some form of business,” he added.

Ashis praised Afrobeats artist Olivetheboy, who characterized his performance at the NDC Youth Manifesto Launch on August 15 as purely business, and encouraged other artistes to prioritize fair compensation for their efforts.

He also mentioned that his team, which manages Kwabena Kwabena, is open to working with any political party, but only on a strictly business basis.

Ashis stressed that personal political preferences should remain separate from professional engagements, reinforcing that their primary focus is on the business aspect of such collaborations.

“If you see us on any platform right now, it’s purely business. I’m not sure it will be on merits anymore. We’ll do business. You might see us on NDC the same week. You might see us on NPP. It’s business.

“If they call us, we’ll go and do business. I mean, that’s the point at which we are now. If he, the artiste, has love for one of them, he should keep it. That is his love. But when it comes to the team KBKB, he might like A. I like B. But we’ll just go and do our business,” he said.

  • Create a niche for yourself – Minister OJ tells musicians

Create a niche for yourself – Minister OJ tells musicians

Gospel artist Minister OJ has shared insights on how musicians can carve out a unique identity in their field.

He emphasized the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, suggesting that true recognition comes from breaking away from the norm.

“Celebration comes when you stray from the ordinary,” he asserted, advising musicians to embrace their individuality. “To stand out and make an impact, you need to do things differently. If you stick to the conventional, you’ll only achieve conventional results.”

Minister OJ discussed his own approach, revealing that he sometimes deliberately incorporates imperfections in his music to capture attention.

“It’s not enough to just perform well or arrange a song neatly,” he explained. “There must be something distinctive that sets you apart.”

Drawing a parallel to God’s creation of humanity, he noted that even God gives each person unique attributes, like varying sizes of feet.

This, he argued, underscores the value of being unconventional in art.

The musician stressed that his focus is always on guiding his audience towards spiritual enlightenment through Jesus. “Every song I create is infused with a message of salvation. My goal is to always bring Jesus into the music,” he said.

Minister OJ also praised the distinctive nature of the Journey to Heaven program on No. 1 FM 105.3, hosted by Taller Dee. He remarked on the program’s unique format, where the host shares interview time with bloggers. “I chose to participate in this interview because Taller Dee stands out,” he noted.

Kurl Songx recently opened up about the mistakes he’s made throughout his music career in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo program.

During the conversation, Songx admitted that his journey has involved missteps and that he may have unintentionally offended people in the industry.

“I realize I’ve made errors along the way. To anyone I may have upset, whether knowingly or unknowingly, I want to use this platform to ask for your forgiveness,” he stated.

When questioned by Romeo about any repercussions he faced due to these offenses, Songx confirmed that there have indeed been negative impacts.

However, he chose to keep specifics private due to the sensitive nature of the issues involved.

Acknowledging his humanity, Songx expressed that while he is aware of some of his mistakes, there may be others he remains unaware of.

“But we’re humans. I want to be very honest. There are some offenses I committed that I might know about, while there are others I might not know about,” he added.

He concluded his remarks by extending his apology, understanding that forgiveness may not come easily.

There’s no absolute right or wrong in music and art – Minister OJ

Minister OJ, whose birth name is Michael Oware Sakyi, recently discussed the diverse purposes of music during an interview with Taller Dee on Journey to Heaven, broadcast on No. 1 FM.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter and composer emphasized that music is created with various intentions and that every type of music has its own place and significance.

“Music reaches into the essence of the soul and engages with the realm of sound. Once music connects with this realm, the specific language used becomes secondary,” he explained.

OJ highlighted that the appeal of a song transcends language barriers, illustrating his point with the example of Angelique Kidjo’s “Agolo.” Although many in Ghana may not understand the lyrics, the song’s universal appeal is undeniable.

He elaborated on the different functions of music, noting that it can be meant for entertainment, dance, mourning, and more. He acknowledged that not all music needs profound lyrics, as each artist has their own audience and purpose.

“In the realm of artistry, there’s no absolute right or wrong. Music and art are matters of personal taste. What one person may dislike, another may appreciate,” OJ stated.

He reflected on how some artists face criticism for their songs, only to see those very songs become major hits later on, using examples of songs by both male and female artists that were initially mocked but eventually gained widespread popularity.

“This illustrates the dynamic nature of music,” he remarked.

Minister OJ is celebrated for his enduring tracks such as “Fa Mpaebo,” “Obi Nya W’aye,” “Apor Jesu,” “Onipa Hia Mmoa,” “Etse Sen,” and “Meduru.” His latest release is “Adom Ahyasie.”

Ghanaian media personality Nana Adwoa Awindor has called on Ghanaians seeking to travel abroad to prioritize legal avenues, particularly through education.

Speaking at the 2024 Youth Week celebrations organized by the Assemblies of God Cedar Mountain Chapel in East Legon, Accra, she emphasized the availability of legitimate opportunities for young people to study abroad, especially in the United States, where programs are often accessible through student loans.

Awindor expressed concern over the persistent trend of individuals resorting to dangerous and illegal means to leave the country, such as stowing away or taking perilous journeys through the Northern route.

She highlighted the tragic consequences of these choices, citing recent incidents where people lost their lives attempting such risky endeavors.

“People are dying. Just recently, somebody snuck into a plane and his body was found. People still go on the northern route. We’ve gone to quite a number of places to do advocacies with international organisations. Yet people still go using the northern route even after hearing that people are falling into the ocean and dying. So I would never encourage anybody to travel illegally,” she stated.

Urging young Ghanaians to take advantage of the numerous educational opportunities available, she also stressed the importance of returning to Ghana after completing their studies abroad to contribute their skills and knowledge to the country’s development.

“The most important thing for me is that if you go, please come back, because we need you here,” she added.

I once dated an ex-convict – Efia Odo

Ghanaian socialite, actress, and singer, Efia Odo, recently shared a thrilling experience from her time in New York, USA.

During an interview on 3xtra, she recounted a shocking incident that occurred while she was out on a date with her then-boyfriend.

As they drove through the city, her boyfriend ran a red light, catching the attention of the police, who promptly began pursuing them.

Initially, Efia Odo was confused about why he refused to pull over for the ticket.

It was only then that he revealed they were in a stolen car, and he himself was an ex-convict.

“There was this one time I was dating this guy and we were going on a date and we were driving; this was back in New York. So, we were driving, and he crossed the red light. The police were chasing us to give us a ticket, but he didn’t want to stop.

“So, I asked him what the case was, and he said he could not stop the car because it was stolen. I was in a car with this guy, and I didn’t know the car was stolen or that he was an ex-convict. Eventually, he slowed down, got down, and fled the scene,” Efia Odo said in a one-on-one interview on 3xtra.

To her astonishment, the situation escalated as he eventually slowed the car down, got out, and fled, leaving her behind.

Fortunately, Efia Odo was not prosecuted for the incident, as she was a minor at the time.

Don’t ask for gifts you can’t afford to buy yourself – Williams Uchemba tells women

Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has shared advice for women, urging them to avoid asking men for gifts they themselves cannot afford.

In a video posted on his Instagram on August 14, 2024, Uchemba explained that such demands could harm relationships, suggesting that men should be cautious about marrying women with this mentality.

He highlighted how his wife only requests things that benefit their family rather than making personal demands.

“There is a mentality that is crippling most women in this generation. When you say there is no husband, this is the reason why. I don’t know why you think you have any business requesting things from a man that you can never get to afford in your wildest dream even if you work for ten years. It is a spirit and until you deal with it, there are some of you that will end up not getting married because no man will want to put you in their house.

“It has become like a pandemic now where most women now think that it is okay to make very crazy requests.”

Uchemba expressed concern that many women today have unrealistic expectations, which he believes could be a barrier to finding a husband.

The actor criticized the trend of asking for luxury items like a G-Wagon or an iPhone 15, especially when one cannot afford even a basic version of such items.

He described this behavior as driven by greed and suggested that it might be influenced by a “Jezebelian spirit,” warning that it could deter men from pursuing marriage with women who exhibit it.

“Why are you asking for a GWagon or iPhone 15 when you know that you cannot even afford an iPhone 10 with how much you have in your account, It is a spirit of greed. It has so many things to do with some element of ‘Jezebelian spirit’ and until you deal with it, no man will put you in his house.”

Uchemba also advised women to make requests in a more appealing and considerate manner. His remarks were well-received by many online, who praised him for addressing this issue.

I pay no attention to critics – Salma Mumin

Salma Mumin recently addressed the criticism she’s received, particularly from those questioning her newfound wealth following her purchase of a Range Rover.

Unbothered by the negativity, the actress stated, “Everyone is like a ghost to me. I don’t know you, and you don’t know me. Your perception of me isn’t necessarily who I am.”

She shared that she’s no longer affected by others’ opinions, choosing instead to focus on the love and support from those in her inner circle.

“The people close to me truly appreciate and love me,” she highlighted.

    Background

Earlier on social media, Salma Mumin shared a video showing a clearing agent at the port bringing out her brand-new 2024 white Range Rover from one of the containers at the harbour.

Salma Mumin was thrilled to see her new car, which has an estimated base price of over $150,000.

In another part of the video, the actress was seen inspecting a brand-new black Tesla Model S, reportedly worth over $75,000, which had arrived at the port along with the Range Rover.

This development has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many expressing concerns about her source of income to afford such expensive cars.

Bawumia is a certified liar – Bridget Otoo

Ghanaian journalist Bridget Otoo has strongly criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia accusing him of being a “certified liar.”

She asserts that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer ought not to be trusted with his promises.

She further critiqued the NPP foot soldiers.

In a passionate Twitter post, Otoo expressed her frustration and addressed issues concerning NPP foot soldiers.

Otoo urged National Democratic Congress (NDC) foot soldiers to refrain from comparing themselves with their NPP counterparts.

She criticized NPP supporters for their refusal to acknowledge or correct mistakes, even when faced with clear evidence.

She attributed this behavior to their leaders, who she claims intentionally spread falsehoods about NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

Otoo pointed out that while NPP figures make misleading statements about Mahama, he maintains accuracy and transparency when addressing his opponents.

She contrasted this with the behavior of NPP foot soldiers, who, in her view, perpetuate fake news without accountability.

In her tweet, Otoo mentioned that while she will block NDC foot soldiers who spread misinformation, she prefers to engage with more credible voices within the party.

‘You’re better than NPP fool soldiers’ – Bridget Otoo to NDC supporters

Ghanaian journalist Bridget Otoo has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to refrain from drawing comparisons with their New Patriotic Party (NPP) counterparts.

She criticized NPP foot soldiers for their unwillingness to acknowledge or correct their mistakes, attributing this behavior to the leaders who, according to her, spread falsehoods about the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

Otoo pointed out that while Mahama refrains from distorting the truth about his opponents, NPP representatives often resort to misleading statements.

This discrepancy, she argues, reflects poorly on NPP foot soldiers, who continue to propagate misinformation without accountability.

In contrast, Otoo praised NDC foot soldiers for their willingness to address and rectify mistakes when they are pointed out.

She noted that while some NDC members might share incorrect information, they are generally open to correction, unlike their NPP counterparts, who often persist in spreading false news.

She concluded by stating that she prefers to engage with more credible sources within the NDC rather than dealing with those who spread misinformation.

There are no genuine friendships in the entertainment industry – Efia Odo

Socialite and singer Efia Odo recently shared her thoughts on the nature of relationships within the entertainment industry, revealing that genuine friendships are rare.

According to her, most connections between industry professionals are primarily based on business and mutual benefits rather than true friendship.

While she acknowledged that it’s possible to form real bonds with colleagues, she emphasized that such instances are uncommon, as the industry is largely driven by what each person can offer the other.

“I feel like this industry, there’s no friendship in this industry. It’s more about acquaintances, business associates, It’s not really friendship. Maybe one or two people but in reality, it’s always been like what you can do for me and what I can do for you,” Efia Odo said in a report on 3news.com.

Efia also reflected on her own experiences, noting that her attempts to build friendships in the industry have taught her valuable lessons.

“What’s the point in faking it? For me, I have people who I am close to and cool with, and after that, we go our separate ways…I think I have also learnt a lot about trying to be friends with people in this industry, but it’s good.”

She explained that while she maintains cordial relationships with some individuals, these connections often don’t extend beyond professional interactions.

In addition to discussing industry relationships, Efia Odo opened up about her love life.

Despite facing numerous disappointments, she remains hopeful about finding love but has become more cautious in her approach.

She mentioned that she used to be very open and vulnerable in relationships but has since learned to protect her heart, taking her time to assess anyone who expresses interest in her.

Efia affirmed that she is still committed to love but is now approaching it more carefully.

“It’s not like I have given up on love; right now I am taking my time. Before, I used to wear my heart on my sleeves; now I wear it in my jeans. When I love, it’s overwhelming for the wrong person, so I want to really take my time to scope out any guy who says they are interested in me. My name is Efia Odo; I am love, and I give out love. I can’t give up on love, so I am taking it slow.”

You’re preserving yourself for someone ‘cheating’ on you – Mimi Andani subtly jabs McBrown

During an episode of Onua Showtime, actress Nana Ama McBrown and her panelists were enjoying King Paluta‘s latest track, Makoma, when a particular verse stirred up some controversy in the studio.

The line in question, “Odeefo ade y3nfa nkyekye,” which translates to “You don’t give what belongs to kings to others,” became the center of discussion.

This lyric, which addresses infidelity, caught McBrown’s attention, and she passionately stated that she would never give away what rightfully belongs to her “king.”

However, Mimi Andani, one of the panelists, couldn’t resist taking a jab at McBrown’s declaration.

She pointed out the irony in McBrown’s words, alluding to recent rumors about McBrown’s “king” being involved in extramarital affairs.

Mimi quipped, “You’re not giving yourself away, but he is out there sharing himself with others.”

This led to a lighthearted exchange, with McBrown playfully responding, “Who are you referring to?” Mimi doubled down, “I’m talking about the one you’re saving yourself for. He’s busy sharing himself with others.”

Amused, McBrown laughed and playfully warned, “I’ll sue you if you’re not careful.”
She concluded by reiterating, “All I’m saying is that my body is mine, but my ‘king’ has a share in it, so I won’t give it away to anyone else.”

Ghanaian artistes you don’t know are related

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, as well as King Promise and KiDi, are siblings who have each carved out their own successful paths in Ghana’s entertainment scene.

Despite their shared family background and prominent presence in the industry, they have chosen to pursue individual careers.

Their musical styles and creative directions vary significantly, reflecting their unique artistic identities.

Although their family ties are well-known, they have yet to collaborate musically, partly due to strained relationships.

This has led to some labeling them as rivals within the industry.

    Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale

In a 2019 segment of Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Elsie Avemegah, Shatta Wale’s mother, made a surprising revelation about the well-known rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

She claimed that the two are actually related by blood. According to her, while neither Shatta Wale nor Stonebwoy are aware of this connection, Stonebwoy’s biological mother is her aunt.

Elsie, who is from the Ahiableh family, explained that Stonebwoy’s uncle and her own grandfather share the same name, Ahiableh, establishing a familial link between the two artists.

    King Promise and KiDi

During a previous episode of United Showbiz, KiDi revealed that he and King Promise are cousins.

This disclosure was in response to a conflict where King Promise’s management asked for his verse to be removed from KiDi’s track ‘Enjoyment’, leading to some tension.

Later, King Promise took to social media to affirm their familial bond after they performed together at an event.

“Much love, cousin! It feels like just yesterday we started this music journey. I’m so proud of you, just as you are of me!” he shared.
