The Ghanaian public has voiced its disapproval after popular Kumawood actor, Yaw Dabo, disclosed his disappointment with TV show host and business mogul, Deloris Frimpong Manso, widely known as Delay.

The controversy arose when Dabo accused Delay of turning down his plea for sponsorship.

In a recent interview with Zionfelix, Yaw Dabo shared his side of the story, revealing that he had approached Delay seeking support for his football team.

Specifically, he requested 10 boxes of Delay’s spaghetti and proposed that his team would proudly wear T-shirts featuring her company logo to highlight her as a major sponsor.

Gov’t ought to regularize content creation space for revenue generation – Blogger Kobby Kyei

Renowned Ghanaian blogger Augustus Koranteng Kyei, popularly known as Kobby Kyei, has urged for a united effort among stakeholders to regulate the social media space.

Emphasizing the necessity for content creation space regulation, Kobby Kyei highlighted the potential dangers faced by content creators due to the lack of oversight in the social media landscape.

Expressing concern about the negative impact of non-regulation, Kobby Kyei pointed out that social media has become a vital avenue for employment, stressing the need for policymakers to ensure a safe environment for content creators.

“A lot of people have graduated from school and have capitalized on social media and it is saving the unemployment rate. What are the policy makers doing in making sure that [ the social media space is safe]. I think that we should make it a point to meet some stakeholders on the content creation space because Warris was complaining about the Paypal and all that.

“People are also messing up in the space and they are getting a lot of numbers whether it is benefiting people or destroying people, you have no clue. So, I believe that the policy makers should have a conversation about how they can meet stakeholders in the content creation space or social media…there is a lot of money in the space and so they must protect us,” he said on The Afternoon Show, Monday, February 19.

During his appearance on The Afternoon Show, he urged a dialogue with stakeholders in the content creation space to address issues such as payment platforms and overall safety.

Kobby Kyei also advocated for education on social media at the basic level, encouraging the Ghana Education Service (GES) to incorporate it into the curriculum.

He emphasized that social media is the “new era,” and educating young individuals on its responsible use is crucial for success.

“To GES, I think that they must also educate the young ones coming from basic to senior high school and to university. Don’t always try to teach them to apply for jobs after school. They need to know that social media is not always standing in front of your camera and shaking your body.”

Joined by Anita Akufo and Godwin Namboh on The Afternoon Show, Kobby Kyei delved into the financial benefits of social media and discussed how the youth can leverage this powerful tool for the betterment of society.

Composing music takes creativity; Ghana music is not dead – Appietus

Renowned record producer, Appiah Dankwah, popularly known as Appietus, has challenged the prevailing belief that the Ghanaian music scene is stagnant due to irregular music releases by artists.

In an interview on Accra FM, he emphasised that creativity takes time and argued that musicians worldwide do not release music consistently, using global icon Beyoncé as an example.

Appietus criticised entertainment journalists and pundits who condemn musicians for delays in releasing songs, asserting that the creative process cannot be rushed.

“You cannot say the whole machinery has come to a halt because some artists have not released [new] songs.

“All around the world, artists don’t release music every day of the year, is that not so? Beyonce, for instance, does not release new music every day. After releasing an album, she’ll wait a while before releasing another or a new single,” Appietus stated.

He highlighted the importance of hard work in creating quality music, cautioning against releasing songs hastily, which may result in poor quality and subsequent criticism.

Comparing artists to fruits with unique seasons, he explained that expecting musicians to release music continually throughout the year would be exhausting and could negatively impact their health.

“It takes hard work and if they rush to put out a song, they will again be mocked for releasing a song of poor quality,” he noted.

Appietus, a legendary sound engineer with over 200 songs to his credit, emphasised the significance of managing artists’ schedules carefully to prevent health issues.

Paramount Pictures‘ musical biopic, “Bob Marley: One Love,” exceeded expectations as it claimed the top spot at the box office with a stellar $27.7 million opening weekend.

In contrast, Sony’s “Madame Web,” a Marvel character-centered film, struggled with one of the lowest debuts for the genre.

In contrast, “Madame Web” faced a disappointing fate, estimating a $15.2 million weekend and a six-day haul of $25.8 million.

With a lackluster “C+” CinemaScore and unfavorable critic reviews, the superhero film struggled to overcome negative buzz.

The article also notes the challenging start to the 2024 box office for Hollywood, citing a 15% decline in ticket sales compared to 2023. The upcoming release of “Dune: Part Two” on March 1 is anticipated to boost industry fortunes.

Politicians are not to blame for our economic distress ; the youths are lazy- Shatta Wale

Popular Dancehall artist Shatta Wale expressed amusement at people blaming the government, asserting that politicians are doing their best.

He emphasized the need for citizens to seize opportunities, asserting that laziness is the root cause of their grievances.

According to the Gringo hitmaker, citizens should not solely rely on politicians but actively participate in creating opportunities for themselves.

“Sometimes, when we blame the politicians, I laugh. Politicians are doing everything they can to work as politicians. It’s just that when you’re lazy in your mind and you don’t know how to take advantage of opportunities yourself, you will always be talking about politicians,” Shatta Wale stated.

Shatta Wale likened politicians to cartels in their operations and suggested that citizens need to be proactive in utilizing the available resources.

Highlighting a perceived disconnect between politicians and the public, Shatta Wale claimed that politicians often take funds from international sources, intending to provide jobs for the youth.

“Politicians are like cartels with how they run things. It’s not that they’re disrespecting the people; they promise, and you vote for them.”

However, he argued that the money is sometimes redirected to cheap labor in rural areas, leading to a lack of tangible benefits for the citizens.

Shatta Wale further contended that politicians have recognized the preferences of the youth, noting that those with higher education qualifications tend to avoid construction jobs in favor of more glamorous pursuits.

He urged the youth to reconsider their priorities and explore the lucrative opportunities in the construction sector.

“They know that those who went to tertiary institutions will not apply. Our politicians have realized that the youth want flashy things and to wear suits. They don’t want to go into construction. But there’s a lot of money in construction,” he concluded.

It all began when Shatta Michy, with no holds barred, unleashed a scathing critique on Shatta Wale’s romantic pursuits.

She boldly proclaimed him as an unreliable partner, incapable of staying committed to a single woman.

The words resonated like thunder in the tight-knit celebrity circles, sparking curiosity and gossip among fans and media alike.

Shatta Michy didn’t stop there, she questioned Shatta Wale’s worthiness of being taken seriously in matters of the heart, asserting that his womanising nature rendered him undeserving of the genuine love and commitment that relationships require.

But the drama didn’t end with Shatta Wale.

Shatta Michy turned her attention towards Efia Odo, accusing her of performing wife-like duties for a man who, in her eyes, didn’t deserve such devotion.

The accusations flew like arrows, piercing through the glamorous facade of celebrity romance.
In a surprising twist, Shatta Michy drew a parallel between Shatta Wale and Efia Odo, suggesting a shared tendency to be drawn to multiple partners.

“You came jumping from somewhere to somewhere in this industry, this industry has binged several number of people,” Shatta Michy stated on the GH Queens reunion show.

According to her, their similar attributes created a magnetic force, pulling them together despite the uproar love lives they led individually

Diamond Michelle, widely known as Shatta Michy, provided insights into the early days of her relationship with self-proclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale.

The revelation came as a response to recent developments involving Shatta Wale and Efia Odo.

Shatta Michy boldly asserted that when she first encountered Shatta Wale, he was far from the accomplished musician that fans know today.

According to her, she played a significant role in refining and shaping him into the charismatic and talented artist he has become.

“He wasn’t good enough, or you were good enough to be a replacement. Where I met this nigga (Shatta Wale), you wouldn’t have liked him, we polished him up for you to like him,” Shatta Michy declared during the discussion.

Despite acknowledging her influence on Shatta Wale’s journey to stardom, Shatta Michy made it clear that she is no longer interested in being in a relationship with him.

This revelation comes amidst rumours and speculations surrounding Shatta Wale’s involvement with Efia Odo.

In a pointed remark directed at Efia Odo, Shatta Michy described her as a ‘beggar’ benefiting from the fruits of her labour.

“You know he holds me in a different high esteem, you (Efia Odo) came jumping from somewhere to somewhere,” Shatta Michy stated, highlighting her perceived disparity in contributions to Shatta Wale’s life.

The Ghqueens reunion discussion has sparked a renewed interest in the personal and romantic aspects of Shatta Wale’s life, with fans and onlookers eagerly awaiting further developments and responses from those involved.

The purpose of the courtesy call was to initiate discussions on a collaborative effort aimed at supporting the creative arts industry.

The non-profit organization, Stellar Development Foundation, known for its mission to utilize blockchain for global economic empowerment, introduced a groundbreaking blockchain-based fintech innovation during the meeting.

This innovation is designed to ensure fair compensation for local creative industry participants whose works are globally commercialized.

Additionally, it seeks to improve access to financing for artists, particularly emerging talents, through the implementation of smart contracts.

The innovative solution addresses the prevailing challenge faced by many African industry players who are often excluded from the global payments ecosystem.

This exclusion results in significant violations of Intellectual Properties (IPs) and copyrights, hindering opportunities for growth and funding for legitimate earnings from the commercial use of their works worldwide.

The aim is to enhance the administration of IPs and copyrights, benefiting local content creators in the long run.

Both the Bank of Ghana and the Stellar Development Foundation expressed their commitment to a long-term collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact it could have on the creative industry, particularly the youth.

Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o becomes first black jury head at German film festival

Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o has shattered barriers by becoming the inaugural black head of the Berlin International Film Festival jury.

The Berlinale, one of the globe’s top five film festivals, marked its 74-year history without a black jury head until now.

Nyong’o will spearhead the jury’s selection process for the coveted Golden and Silver Bears awards, adding a new dimension to the festival’s diverse cinematic landscape.

The lack of diversity in the juries of major international film festivals, including Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Sundance, and Toronto, has long been criticised.

At the festival’s opening in Germany’s capital, Nyong’o expressed her profound honor at assuming the role, emphasizing that the diversity within the jury would enhance the decision-making process.

The Oscar-winning actress highlighted the significance of bringing together individuals from different backgrounds, noting that their varied perspectives would contribute to a more enriched evaluation of films.

“That’s the beauty of bringing people together from different backgrounds, we respond to different things.

“We have a lot of world experience and opinions and it’s gonna be interesting. It’s probably also gonna be spicy,”said the actress, who won an Oscar for 12 Years A Slave in 2014.

When Nyong’o was announced as the jury president last December, the festival directors cited her acting versatility and ability to connect with diverse audiences as reasons for her selection.

The Berlinale, running until February 25, will conclude with the announcement of the winning films in major categories.

Among the 20 films competing for top honors, three African entries stand out, each narrating compelling stories from the continent.

These include “Black Tea” by Mauritanian-born Malian director Abderrahmane Sissako, “Who Do I Belong To” by Tunisian-Canadian director Meryam Joobeur, and the documentary “Dahomey” by French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop.

Renowned broadcast journalist Nana Aba Anamoah has labelled the recently Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as the “worst finance minister Ghana has ever had.”

Expressing her dissatisfaction, Anamoah accused Ofori-Atta of betraying the trust of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, asserting that his departure was long overdue.

Anamoah, who had earlier predicted Ofori-Atta’s dismissal in a tweet, welcomed the news with enthusiasm, asserting, “I am so happy that man is gone.”

“Ken Ofori-Atta should have resigned long ago, he has supervised so much rot and I am so glad that he has gone, I mean some will say too little too late, it’s good it came,” Nana Aba Anamoah stated.
