EL denies allegations of sexual assault made by Facebook user; replies “u wish”

Renowned Ghanaian rapper Elorm Adablah, popularly known as EL, has vehemently denied allegations of sexual abuse and groping made against him by a Ghanaian lady named Edna on Facebook.

In a Facebook post on February 14, Edna FG accused the rapper of inappropriate behaviour and claimed that EL took her money for a recording session but never allowed her to record her music at his studio in Nyaniba estates.

The accuser further asserted that EL had a history of demanding sexual favours from female musicians who visited his studio for recordings.

In response, EL dismissed the allegations with a dismissive comment, asserting, “built like a mini fridge… Ew, you wish.”

EL, seemingly unfazed by the accusations, commented on the broader trend of musicians facing allegations of sexual abuse, asserting, “Oh, it’s my turn abi. Alright, let’s go.”

This incident follows a similar controversy involving rapper Sarkodie and actress Yvonne Nelson last year.

Yvonne Nelson accused Sarkodie of forcing her to abort a baby after a past relationship.

In response, Sarkodie released a song titled “Try Me,” where he acknowledged the relationship but shifted the blame for the abortion onto Yvonne, urging her to take responsibility for her choices.

It appears that the Ghanaian music industry is grappling with controversies and allegations, shedding light on the personal lives of its prominent figures.

Mantse loses court case against Hammar, Obrafour

The founder of the Chale Wote Street Festival, Mantse Aryeequaye, has seen his case against rapper Obrafour and music producer Hammer thrown out by the Accra High Court.

The lawsuit revolved around the ownership of the popular phrase “Killer Cut Blood” used in Obrafour’s Oye Ohene song.

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, GH¢10,000 was awarded to Obrafour and Hammer of The Last Two Music Group, the producers of “Oye Ohene,” as the court dismissed the case citing “inconsistencies and breach of court rules” in Mantse’s writ.

Mantse Aryeequaye had initially filed the lawsuit on January 12, 2024, alleging that Obrafour had registered the phrase in the United States in September 2022 without his consent.

Despite having no previous issues with the use of his “Killer Cut” line in the song, Mantse took legal action after discovering the registration in the US.

The founder of the Chale Wote Festival claimed that Obrafour failed to inform Drake’s handlers, who sought permission to use the “Killer Cut” in a song, that he was not the owner of the work.

Mantse asserted that Obrafour neglected to acknowledge him, the actual owner of the intellectual property, leading to the legal dispute.

“Plaintiff says 1st Defendant received notification from some handlers of Drake, (a foreign musician), requesting the use of Plaintiffs work which they wrongly attributed to 1st Defendant, because they heard it on his song ‘Oye Ohene’. 1st defendant did not inform Drake’s handlers that the 1st Defendant was not the owner of the work, but who used it on his song, (just as Drake is to use it). 1st Defendant did not inform Plaintiff, the actual owner of the work, knowing very well that the part of the song being sought by Drake is wholly the intellectual property of the Plaintiff,” part of the writ read.

Why dating Nigerian girls abroad is better than dating the ones home – Timini Egbuson

Nigerian actor Timini Egbuson sheds light on the divergent dating dynamics between Nigerian girls residing abroad and those living in their home country.

According to Egbuson, girls abroad, particularly in Canada, London, and America, tend to have a more open-minded approach to finding a partner compared to their counterparts in Nigeria.

Egbuson suggests that the majority of Nigerian girls abroad actively engage in the dating pool, benefitting from diverse ethnicities and options.

“I feel like you will get a better dating experience from Nigerian girls living abroad than Nigerian girls living here. (Nigeria) My reason is that right, Nigerian girls living abroad Canada, London, America, majority there are in a dating pool.

“There is so much ethnicities, options and I don’t know if the average guy out there is looking for a Nigerian babe still so when a Nigerian babe catches you, you are obviously the catch and she will take care of you and she will be happier to take care of you,” Timini Egbuson stated.

He emphasised that when these girls abroad find a Nigerian partner who shares their communication patterns and values, the connection becomes more meaningful, and they are more inclined to take care of their significant other.

“A lot of my friend who are baddies will be checking their phones, so when they catch you a Nigerian guy who has the same value as them and understand their jokes, you are the price but when they come out here its different,” Timini Egbuson stated.

In contrast, Egbuson notes that Nigerian girls within the country may face a different dating landscape, where the abundance of options is not as prevalent.

This could result in a shift in the dynamics, making it essential for individuals to navigate a more competitive environment when seeking a compatible partner.

The actor’s insights highlight the nuanced differences in dating experiences between Nigerian girls abroad and those within the country, emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding and shared values in fostering meaningful relationships.

Where is the funding Mahama promised to secure a theatre in Kumasi – Socrates Safo quizzes

Ghanaian filmmaker and Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission, Socrates Safo, has voiced strong criticism against former president John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of failing to fulfil promises made during his tenure.

Safo specifically highlighted Mahama’s commitment to build a theatre in Kumasi after securing funding from Exim bank, which ultimately remained unfulfilled.

Safo expressed his disappointment, asserting, “I will not follow somebody who promised to do something and he will not do it.”

He recounted Mahama’s pledge in 2013 to construct a theatre in Kumasi with funding from Turkish Exim Bank, emphasising that despite waiting patiently, nothing materialised.

Drawing a comparative analysis, Safo contrasted the performance of the Mahama administration with that of the Akufo-Addo led government, asserting that the latter successfully delivered on their promises.

He urged Ghanaians to prioritise tangible proof when evaluating political statements, citing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for making empty promises while commending the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their commitment to fulfilling pledges.

Safo concluded by advocating for support towards those who have demonstrated a track record of action, emphasising, “NPP came and they promised to build theatres, and they pursued it and secured funding and everything, and I can see they are doing it. NDC promised; we didn’t see anything, but NPP is delivering on the promise. If I am to put my weight, I will put my weight on the person who has done something.”

It will be recalled that John Dramani Mahama promised to build a second theatre in Kumasi after having successfully secured funds from the Turkish Exim Bank.

However, it is not known whether John Mahama started the project or did not commence it at all.

The former president is yet to respond to Socrate Safo’s claims.

“False, it doesn’t cause peptic ulcers” – Medical doctor exposes Abena Korkor’s ‘lies’ about paracetamol

A trending social media video featuring controversial figure Abena Korkor suggesting a link between paracetamol consumption and peptic ulcers has been contradicted by a health expert.

Abena Korkor claimed that individuals consuming six paracetamol tablets daily are endangering their lives, impacting their stomach walls and leading to the development of stomach ulcers.

However, Dr. George, a health expert, refuted this assertion in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Whatever she said here about Paracetamol is false. It doesn’t cause peptic ulcers.”

Peptic ulcers are open sores that form on the inner lining of the stomach and upper part of the small intestine, with stomach pain being a common symptom.

Dr. George’s refutation aligns with established medical knowledge, emphasizing that the primary causes of peptic ulcers are infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and naproxen sodium.

The Ministry of Works and Housing in a joint venture with the State Housing Cooperation (SHC) has successfully completed the construction of a 16-unit detached and semi-detached housing bungalow.

This exclusive accommodation is specifically designated for senior public officials, including court justices, ministers of State, and chief directors.

Situated on an expansive acre and a half in Ridge, Accra, the housing project represents a redevelopment initiative, transforming a previous three-unit structure on the same acre of land into a modern complex capable of housing 16 distinct families.

Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Works and Housing, expressed satisfaction during his inspection of the project, highlighting the Ministry’s commitment to optimizing land use in various locations, including the airport residential area, Labone, Roman Ridge, Lartehbiokorshie, and Cantonments.

Pleased with the project’s 95 percent completion status and the well-planned layouts of the bungalow, Minister Asenso-Boakye commended the use of plantation demarcation for the units, expressing a desire for broader adoption of such practices.

“It is one of the residential accommodations we provide for public servants, and I am thrilled that they used plantation to demarcate the units. I wish we could all learn from it,”Minister Asenso-Boakye stated.

Emphasizing the strategic location of the bungalow in close proximity to the offices of senior public officials, Asenso-Boakye highlighted the convenience it offers, ensuring timely arrivals for work.

In a gesture of recognition for exemplary service, the Minister announced that the bungalow would be named after Mr. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, honouring his outstanding contributions during his tenure as Minister of Water Resources, Works, and Housing.

Mr. Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, the Managing Director of SHC, revealed that the Company had incorporated provisions allowing occupants to install air conditioning and satellite television without additional structural modifications.

This forward-thinking approach aims to maintain the bungalow in optimal condition for an extended period.

  • 15% tariff increase has saved MTN from collapsing – CEO

15% tariff increase has saved MTN from collapsing – CEO

The Chief Executive of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh has justified the recent 15% increase in tariffs for all its products and services, emphasizing the necessity to safeguard the company’s viability.

Engaging the media,  Adadevoh explained that the decision to raise tariffs was driven by the company’s need to share the increasing cost burden with subscribers after absorbing escalating costs for several years.

Adadevoh pointed out the impact of rising macro-economic conditions in the country, asserting, “MTN, for instance, was exposed to inflation pressures of more than 40% on average in 2023.

“We had gotten to the point where all our cost inputs have gone up significantly, and we have to find ways to share this cost with our subscribers”, Selorm Adadevoh stated.

He highlighted that despite the 15% tariff increase, the company was absorbing a significant portion (25%) of the cost.

“MTN for instance was exposed to inflation pressures of more than 40% on average in 2023. But your price increase was 15%, that is absorbing 25% of the cost.

“If you look at MTN records over 7 to 10 years, you acknowledge that there has not been any increase in prices in those periods”, Selorm Adadevoh stated.

The review encompassed two main changes, including the statutory 2.5 percentage point increase in VAT from 12.5% to 15% across all services, impacting both prepaid and postpaid customers.

Additionally, MTN Ghana proceeded with a 15% average upward review of its mobile data tariffs, affecting both pay monthly and pay-as-you-go users.

“So we think that it’s very unfair, to say that MTN has not absorbed some of the cost, when it comes to our operations in Ghana today”, he stressed.

Addressing concerns about Mobile Money fraud, Adadevoh assured that the company has taken substantial measures, including blacklisting SIM cards and identifying handsets involved in fraudulent activities.

He emphasized ongoing efforts to implement further measures to combat the challenge.

On the National Roaming Programme, Adadevoh disclosed that MTN Ghana, Vodafone, and AT have collaborated to accelerate digitalization through the program.

He expressed optimism about the initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance service delivery by allowing telecom operators to share infrastructure.

Rev Kusi Boateng is hoarding money belonging to YEA at Atlantic Bank – Kevin Taylor alleges

Startling revelations have emerged surrounding a young individual suspected of acting as a front for Founder and General Overseer of Power Chapel Worldwide, Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng.

Ohene Mensah Boakye is allegedly in possession of a significant sum of money stashed away at Atlantic Bank on behalf of Kusi Boateng.

Sources close to the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) expressed deep concern and frustration, as they suspect a potential connection between this financial arrangement and the agency.

The YEA, responsible for overseeing youth employment initiatives, is reportedly under the influence of Kusi Boateng’s network.

Adding to the intrigue, Kusi Boateng’s wife currently serves as the board chair of the YEA.

The political ties further complicate the situation, as the National Patriotic Party’s (NPP) general secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong was previously at the helm of the YEA.

The interconnected relationships between Kusi Boateng, his wife, and high-ranking officials within the YEA raise questions about the potential misuse of funds and influence within the agency.

Critics argue that such connections may compromise the agency’s ability to operate transparently and effectively in its mission to address youth employment issues.

The undisclosed source providing this information claims that the money held at Atlantic Bank is of a staggering amount, hinting at a financial operation that could send shockwaves through the political and business spheres.

As the allegations unfold, there are growing calls for a thorough investigation into the financial dealings between the mysterious proxy and Kusi Boateng.

The YEA is urged to address the concerns raised by its own members and the public to ensure accountability and maintain the agency’s integrity.

Both Kusi Boateng and officials from the YEA have yet to respond to these allegations.

The public awaits further developments as this unfolding story continues to captivate the attention of citizens and political observers alike.

Stop behaving as if you’ve won the election – Kabila to Mahama

The former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfreh Jr., known popularly as Kabila, has taken a swipe at former president John Dramani Mahama.

Kabila accused Mahama of prematurely declaring himself as the winner in the upcoming 2024 general elections and urged him to exercise caution in his statements.

Emphasising the need for measured statements, Kabila questions Mahama’s behaviour, suggesting that declaring oneself the winner while actively contesting raises confusion.

“I want to say this as a fourth point to caution the former president. I don’t know who has deceived him that he has won the elections; this is not the first time, as if you have won the elections, then why is he contesting? If you have been declared the 2024 general elections winner, then why are you contesting?” Kabila stated.

He highlights the importance of Mahama not underestimating the government in power, cautioning the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against complacency, especially as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to pose a formidable challenge.

Kabila further advised Mahama not to assume a fixed election date, hinting at potential changes by the Electoral Commission to accommodate all eligible voters.

In a petition to the Electoral Commission (EC), the church expressed worry that its members might be disenfranchised due to the date since it falls on a Saturday, a day dedicated to the worship of God.

In addition to urging a change in the date, the church is calling for legislation to ensure that future elections in the country do not occur on religiously significant days.

The former CPP General Secretary’s words serve as a reminder to the NDC to remain vigilant and focused amid the evolving electoral landscape.

Speaking on the Black Pot segment of his radio show, Urban Blend on 3FM, Blakk Rasta expressed concern for Ghana’s future and highlighted leadership failures.

“These two parties are selfish, greedy and only interested in themselves and what they will get. They don’t have the interest of Ghanaians at heart.” Buabeng Asamoah asserted.

Blakk Rasta, however, accused Asamoah of double standards, pointing out his previous defence of the NPP government’s alleged corruption scandals.

The radio host asserts that Buaben Asamoah’s shifting allegiance and opinions undermine his credibility.

I don’t like staying in my comfort zone – Asantewaa on reason for GWR sing-a-thon challenge

A dynamic personality known for her roles as a broadcaster, event planner, and entrepreneur, Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, recently shared her dislike for staying within her comfort zone.

Speaking to Sammy Brown, host of Accra 100.5 FM’s after-drive “Akwaaba” program, Asantewaa revealed that this characteristic inspired her to embark on a remarkable challenge in December 2023 attempting to break the Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest singing marathon.

Over the course of 126 hours and 52 minutes, Asantewaa passionately sang only Ghanaian songs, aiming to surpass the existing record of 105 hours set by Sunil Waghmare in 2012.

Beyond personal motivation, she emphasised her goal of promoting Ghanaian music on a global scale and proving that individuals of diverse backgrounds, including Africans like herself, can achieve GWR acclaim.

The 33-year-old entrepreneur expressed her disdain for complacency, stating, “I don’t like being comfortable. I want to always be doing something impactful and very positive.”

Reflecting on her decision to focus on Ghanaian music, she explained, “When you want to do something to elevate your country, you must look at something important that a lot of people have great interest in, which is our Ghanaian music.”

Motivated by the desire to challenge stereotypes, Asantewaa observed a lack of African representation among GWR record holders and decided to take on this monumental task.

She highlighted the underrepresentation of Africans in such achievements and asserted, “I dared myself and made the attempt.”

Commencing her singing marathon on December 24, 2023, Asantewaa dedicated five days to this extraordinary feat.

I don’t have a formal contract with Shatta Wale as a manager – Sammy Flex reveals

Manager of renowned Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale, Sammy Flex provided insights into the nature of their professional ties, asserting the absence of a formal contract between them.

Flex highlighted that their working relationship is governed by a legal verbal agreement, challenging the notion that a binding agreement must always be documented on paper.

During the interview, he emphasised, “Agreement is an agreement; we have a legal agreement in place. A legal agreement should not only be about signing a physical contract. We have a legal agreement based on mutual understanding and discussions.”

Expanding on the unconventional arrangement, Sammy Flex clarified that their verbal agreement holds legal weight, granting both parties the freedom to terminate the partnership if circumstances dictate.

He explained, “Me and Shatta Wale have a legal verbal agreement. A verbal agreement is legal. I can quit at any time, and he can also terminate our collaboration.”

This revelation aims to address speculations surrounding the management structure of Shatta Wale and sheds light on the distinctive dynamics defining his professional affiliation with Sammy Flex.
