“I presently have two wives and seven children” – King Ayisoba denies rumors of a third wife

Renowned Ghanaian artist King Ayisoba revealed his financial constraints and said he couldn’t contemplate being married a third time in an exclusive interview with Blakk Rasta on the UrbanBlend programme that aired on 3FM.

Despite managing two wives and raising seven children, the artist emphasized contentment with his current family structure.

Ayisoba cited escalating financial responsibilities, particularly the rising costs of school fees, as a significant deterrent to expanding his family.

At his age, he asserted a preference for maintaining his current lifestyle and avoiding unnecessary pressures associated with additional marital commitments.

“I presently have two wives and seven children. I do not plan to embark on another marriage as the costs associated with raising children, particularly the increasing school fees, pose significant challenges. Given my age, I prefer to avoid unnecessary pressure and aim to maintain my current lifestyle,” shared King Ayisoba during the UrbanBlend show aired on 3FM.

King Ayisoba born Albert Apoozore is a Ghanaian traditional musician known for his unique style of music alongside the kologo.

  • “Connection driven employment is sign of a broken and corrupt system” – Barker-Vormawor advocates call for fair opportunities

“Connection driven employment is sign of a broken and corrupt system” – Barker-Vormawor advocates call for fair opportunities

Lead convenor of the #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has criticized government, alleging complacency and a lack of fairness in job distribution across sectors.

He emphasizes the prevalence of connection-driven employment that favours the wealthy at the expense of the less privileged.

Advocating for change, Barker-Vormawor proposes the implementation of a Fair Opportunities Act.

This act would mandate the advertisement of all public sector jobs on a common online platform, similar to practices in many other countries.

He deems connection-driven employment as a symptom of a broken and corrupt system, perpetuating inequality and compromising the meritocracy within public service.

Highlighting the absence of a transparent and open recruitment process, Barker-Vormawor questions the legitimacy of the current democracy.

He cites the lack of recruitment adverts for prominent institutions like the Bank of Ghana, Securities and Exchange Commission, GNPC, MASLOC, and others.

According to Vormawor’s statistics, as of February 2023, Ghana had 688,000 individuals employed by the state, underscoring the need for urgent reforms in the employment sector.

Below is the full statement by Barker-Vomawor:

As at last year Feb 2023, Ghana had 688,000 people employed by the State.

How many advertisements for public sector jobs do you see on a day to day? When was the last time you saw a recruitment advert for the Bank of Ghana, Securities and Exchange Commission; GNPC, MASLOC and the like?

It isn’t a true democracy if there are no fair, transparent and open recruitment processes. We need a Fair Opportunities Act, which requires all public sector jobs to be advertised on a common online platform, like many countries do.

Connection driven employment is sign of a broken and corrupt system. The poor get poorer and public service operates without merit.

  • Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority is occupying his position illegally- Sam George explains why

Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority is occupying his position illegally- Sam George explains why

Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament (MP) , Sam George, asserts that the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Reverend Amishaddai Owusu-Amoah, is holding his position unlawfully.

The MP cites multiple reasons to substantiate his claims, primarily emphasizing the Commissioner-General‘s age as a significant factor.

Sam George contends that Reverend Amishaddai Owusu-Amoah has been executing the duties of the Commissioner-General without a valid contract since October 2021.

The absence of a contractual agreement raises questions about the legitimacy of his continued tenure in the crucial position.

Furthermore, the MP accuses the GRA Commissioner General of endorsing questionable contracts, specifically mentioning the controversial $100 million SML sweetheart deal.

According to Sam George, these contracts were approved with the support of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who, in the eyes of the MP, is implicated in the alleged illegality.

During the public hearings of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Sam George also alleges that Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has tacitly approved the Commissioner General’s illicit occupation.

The MP questions the uniqueness of Reverend Amishaddai Owusu-Amoah’s skills, suggesting that the violation of the country’s laws may be unjustifiably endorsed.

The accusations and revelations add a new layer of controversy to the operations of the GRA, putting the spotlight on the Commissioner General’s purported illegal occupancy and raising concerns about the transparency and adherence to regulations within the institution.

Below is the full statement by Sam George:

Yesterday, at the public hearings of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, I asked a very simple Public Interest Question of the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Reverend Amishaddai Owusu-Amoah.

My very simple question was which year did he attain the age of 60. Boom! Drama began. My Colleagues on the NPP side got upset with my question and a 90 minute stand off ensued including a mysterious ‘fault’ with the PA system .

After the 90 minute break, I manage to get a response from him and I am allowed only one follow up question by the Chairman. That question was if the Commissioner-General had a valid contract to remain at post. He answered that for the past twenty seven (27) months, he has occupied the position without a contract.

    Now for those wondering why I asked these questions, here are the issues;

    1. Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai turned 60 years in October 2021,  twenty seven (27) months ago.

    2. Per the Public Service Commission of Ghana regulations, anyone above the age of 60 can be maintained with a 1/2-year contract with the possibility of an extension of another year.

    3. Since October 2021, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai has been at post and carried out functions as the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority without a contract. He has signed contracts like the dubious $100 million SML sweetheart deal with the approval and support of Ken Ofori-Atta.

    4. Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai replaced Mr. Kofi Nti as Commissioner-General when the later still had 18 months of his four (4) year contract outstanding. The reason his contract was terminated was that he had turned 60 years.

    5. The question we need answers to is why Ken Ofori-Atta has kept his darling Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai at post for another twenty seven (27) months without a contract?

    6. The same Ken Ofori-Atta told Parliament that President Akufo-Addo had given instructions that contract extensions beyond the age of 60 would cease except in exceptional cases where the skill of the individual in question is unique and not readily available. What skill does Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai have that is unique and for which reason the laws of the country have been broken?

    7. Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai cannot and should not be allowed to continue his stay in office even one day longer. There must be a forensic audit of his actions in the past 27 months to ascertain what damage his illegal stay has caused the tax payer. I would pursue this matter to its logical conclusion. For God and Country.

  • I begged a well-known influencer to promote my song but he refused – Spyro

I begged a well-known influencer to promote my song but he refused – Spyro

Renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, professionally known as Spyro, recently opened up about his early struggles in the music industry during an interview on the ‘teawithtaypod’ with Taymesan.

The artist shared a candid revelation, disclosing that he once knelt in public to beg an influencer to assist in promoting his song.

Speaking about the catalyst behind the viral success of his track, “Who is your guy,” Spyro credited popular content creator Craze Clown for the boost.

He recounted how Craze Clown, impressed by the song, generously promoted it across various social media platforms, even creating TikTok videos that contributed to its widespread recognition.

Spyro admitted to reaching out to several influencers for song promotion, facing rejection in many cases.

He highlighted the stark contrast in Craze Clown’s support, emphasising that the influencer not only promoted the song for free but also went above and beyond by creating numerous content pieces.

The level of promotion was so intense that people began associating the song more with CrazeClown than Spyro.

Recalling his efforts to seek assistance from other influencers, Spyro revealed a poignant moment when he knelt down in front of an influencer, in the presence of onlookers, pleading for support.

Despite the humility displayed, the influencer remained unresponsive to Spyro’s request.

In essence, Spyro’s journey in the music industry has been marked by both challenges and unexpected support, with Craze Clown playing a pivotal role in elevating his music to a wider audience.

I have stopped smoking – Kelvyn Boy

Addressing the issue on X, he emphasised that some of the most affluent and well-groomed individuals he knows happen to be heavy smokers.

Kelvyn Boy urged his followers to abandon such preconceived notions, asserting, “The notion that smokers are dirty and rowdy might have held true in the past, but I personally know some of the wealthiest and cleanest people who happen to be heavy smokers. Let’s put an end to that stereotype today.”

Kelvyn Boy also shared his own history of smoking, revealing that he used to be a smoker but has since quit.

He took the opportunity to caution against drug use, reminding his audience that even their favourite artists may engage in smoking.

  • I was never credited for writing songs for Osibisa band – Tumi Ebow Ansa

I was never credited for writing songs for Osibisa band – Tumi Ebow Ansa

Renowned Ghanaian musician and actor, Tumi Ebow Ansa, has recently come forward to assert that he has never received due credit for the songs he penned for the well-known Ghanaian-British Afro-rock band, Osibisa.

Among the songs in question is the iconic ‘Welcome Home’ and four others released by the Afro-rock band.

In a candid interview with Mutombo the Poet on ‘If More, Let’s Divide,’ the veteran singer disclosed that his collaboration with the Osibisa band was an experience he usually avoids discussing.

Recounting the early days, he revealed, “I was young, I was very eager, I was free because I was on TV, films, and the music too, so when Osibisa came and out of the blue picked me up and took me to Tunisia, it was an adventure.”

Tumi Ansa further claimed to have written songs such as ‘Welcome Home,’ ‘Woyaya,’ ‘Oranges,’ and ‘The Dawn.’

He expressed his dismay at Osibisa allegedly taking credit for his music and making substantial profits without acknowledging his contributions.

However, responding to the claims, music industry expert Rex Omar, in an interview with Jacqueline Ansomah Yeboah on Joy News, challenged Tumi Ebow Ansah to provide evidence of his songwriting to substantiate his ownership claims.

Rex Omar asserted, “If he is the original composer, where is the evidence?… For him to wait all this while to come and say this right now unless he has proven evidence, it will be difficult.”

Addressing the possibility of Tumi reclaiming his rights with evidence, Rex emphasized the need for legal proceedings, saying, “He has to go through some legal issues to claim the rights. I find it difficult how someone can write five songs for a group without the credit being given to him, and he keeps quiet all these years. I mean, it is very difficult.”

  • High cost of data is to blame for Ghanaian movie absence on digital media – Ola Michael

High cost of data is to blame for Ghanaian movie absence on digital media – Ola Michael

Ola Michael, a well-known filmmaker and media personality from Ghana, voiced his serious concerns about the high cost of data in Ghana in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb Entertainment.

He pointed out how this has a negative impact on the internet streaming of Ghanaian films.

Ola Michael, a respected movie producer and director, pointed out that a significant portion of the audience for Ghanaian films online comprises individuals living abroad, as data is more affordable for them.

Drawing a comparison to Nigeria, he emphasised that Nigerian filmmakers are thriving by creating content for platforms like YouTube, cinemas, and Netflix, enjoying a substantial audience base.

Addressing the challenges faced by Ghanaian filmmakers, Ola Michael suggested that the high data costs deter local viewers from engaging with longer films on streaming platforms.

To counter this, he advised filmmakers to create shorter films, ideally less than 10 minutes, to attract a larger audience.

“If I, as a producer, want to get my film on a streaming platform, let’s say on YouTube, how many Ghanaians are going to watch that film, especially if it’s in 1 hour? Because people will be thinking about how much data they’re going to spend watching this movie,” he explained.

Ola Michael underscored the importance of breaking down content for YouTube, urging filmmakers to adapt their approach to match the preferences shaped by data cost concerns.

He acknowledged that Ghanaians living outside the country play a crucial role in supporting the streaming of Ghanaian films.

Highlighting the severe impact of high data charges on the Ghanaian film industry, Ola Michael called for increased support and investment in the sector.

His statements contribute to the broader discourse on the challenges posed by expensive internet data in the realm of digital entertainment products.

  • PNDC burnt records of my father’s achievement – Dr. Zilla Limann

PNDC burnt records of my father’s achievement – Dr. Zilla Limann

The late former president Hilla Limann daughter, Dr. Zilla Limann, voiced her displeasure with the underappreciation of her father’s efforts to the advancement of her country in a recent interview on 3FM.

She disclosed that the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) regime purposefully destroyed documents outlining his accomplishments during the coup d’état, which resulted in a notable exclusion of his legacy from historical accounts.

Dr. Zilla, who is now married to musician Reggie Rockstone, disclosed that the deliberate erasure by the PNDC government has made it challenging to identify her father’s accomplishments.

She explained, “They erased everything or almost everything, from the bizarre burning of GBC to whatever. So, when we go back to history, it is difficult to find things about Dr. Hilla Limann. If you go back to what we studied in schools, it is always glossed over.”

Despite these challenges, Dr. Zilla Limann is determined to raise awareness about her father’s achievements.

She announced the establishment of a foundation dedicated to propagating the former president’s feats and contributions to the nation.

She emphasised the foundation’s goal of creating more awareness and ensuring that people learn about Dr. Hilla Limann’s impact on the country’s development.

“Now that the Foundation has been formed, and we are putting things together, that’s one of the things we want to do – to create more awareness. To get people to know more about him, about what he did and the impact he had,” she added.

Dr. Zilla Limann expressed her desire to shed light on her father’s role in shaping the country’s destiny and what he might have achieved if his rule hadn’t been prematurely terminated.

Famous media personality and TV show host Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, sharply criticised Ghanaian politicians for putting their political parties ahead of the country’s progress during a recent appearance on TV3’s Ladies Circle programme.

Captain Smart highlighted the critical importance of leadership, lamenting the prevalent tendency in Africa for people to vote along party lines rather than for the betterment of the country.

He asserted that Ghana’s leaders have betrayed the public’s trust by focusing excessively on political affiliations instead of dedicating themselves to the nation’s progress.

Emphasising that Ghana’s economic situation hinges on a shift in politicians’ mindset, Captain Smart argued that even if led by Christ Jesus himself, the country’s economy would not improve without a refocus on national interests over partisan agendas.

“Our economy can never get better. Bring Christ Jesus himself, let him resurrect tomorrow and come and leave this country, the economy will not get better anywhere. Until the politician begins to think that we are building a nation and not a political party,” he declared.

As the host of Onua TV’s morning show, Captain Smart called for increased accountability for politicians, condemning them for deceiving the public and misusing the nation’s resources.

He urged citizens to vote for the country rather than political parties, stressing the importance of scrutinising leaders to ensure they fulfil their promises.

  • Combining music and having a married life is “suicidal” – Jupitar

Combining music and having a married life is “suicidal” – Jupitar

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall icon, Jupitar, recently delved into the hurdles he faced while attempting to balance his booming music career with family life.

In a candid interview on the “Uncut with D-Black” show, Jupitar labeled the music industry’s demanding nature as “suicidal” when endeavoring to establish a family.

Despite recognizing the inherent difficulties, he admitted to occasionally making compromises in an effort to strike a harmonious balance, acknowledging that sacrifices are an unavoidable aspect of his dual responsibilities.

Jupitar underscored the ongoing struggle to synchronise his music career with family obligations, emphasising the inevitability of sacrifices to navigate both realms effectively.

“Even aside from maturity, music itself is a complex business. Combining music and family is incredibly tough. It’s a challenging decision for a musician to settle down while still pursuing this demanding career. It’s suicidal, I won’t lie.

“I try as much as possible to sometimes bend the rules. Even if I come home at ten, I might come home the next morning. I won’t make it a regular occurrence. Striking the right balance is quite difficult,” he added.

Jupitar stands as one of Ghana’s prominent reggae and dancehall artists, renowned for hit songs like “Money Box,” “Enemies,” and “Smile.”

  • Britney Spears extends olive branch to Justin Timberlake amid autobiography controversy

Britney Spears extends olive branch to Justin Timberlake amid autobiography controversy

American singer Britney Spears has officially apologized to her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake for controversial claims made in her autobiography, “The Woman in Me.

Spears detailed Timberlake urging her to undergo an abortion, expressing his reluctance to embrace fatherhood, and alleging infidelity with “another celebrity.”

However, on Monday, the pop sensation took to Instagram, sharing a clip of Timberlake singing alongside Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

In a conciliatory message accompanying the post, Spears asserted, “I want to apologise for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry.”

She further expressed admiration for Timberlake’s latest song, “Selfish,” and humorously pondered why seeing Timberlake and Fallon together always brought laughter.

The saga continues, as fans engage in a chart battle between Spears’ 2011 track, also titled “Selfish,” and Timberlake’s recent single, according to reports from US media.

The former couple, who dated from 1999 to 2002, faced a tumultuous period when Spears, pregnant at the time, grappled with the decision of whether to have an abortion.

The autobiography, released in October 2023, shed light on the conflicting perspectives, with Spears noting, “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it,” while Timberlake was resolute in not wanting to become a father.

The allegations triggered a social media backlash, prompting Timberlake to temporarily disable comments on his Instagram.

Although he has not issued a public response to this recent development, in 2021, he acknowledged falling short in past moments and benefiting from a system that condoned misogyny and racism.

In an Instagram post, Timberlake specifically apologised to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson.

Spears, who has been married three times and shares two children with her second husband, Kevin Federline, also delved into her controversial conservatorship in her autobiography.
Describing herself as a “child robot,” she recounted her father’s assertion of legal control over her personal and professional affairs.

Despite recent rumours of a return to the studio, Spears declared last week that she would “never return to the music industry.”

The ongoing saga between Spears and Timberlake continues to captivate fans and media alike, with this unexpected apology adding a new twist to their complex relationship.

Kenyan thief made to dance to Nigerian hits as punishment

In a bizarre turn of events, an alleged thief found himself facing an unconventional choice of punishment after being apprehended by locals in Dwarzak-Freetown, Sierra Leone yesterday.

The accused, who was caught in the act, was presented with an option, either face caning or showcase his dancing skills to the beats of Nigerian hit songs.

The peculiar incident unfolded when community members, fed up with rising incidents of theft, decided to take matters into their own hands.

Instead of resorting to traditional methods of punishment or immediately handing the perpetrator over to law enforcement, they devised a unique and entertaining approach to address the situation.

Upon being given the choice, the alleged thief, whose identity remains undisclosed, opted to showcase his dance moves rather than endure the physical punishment of caning.

Spectators gathered around as the accused was compelled to dance to a selection of popular Nigerian hit songs, turning the episode into an impromptu street performance.

  • Chief Justice dragged to CHRAJ over missing court records

Chief Justice dragged to CHRAJ over missing court records

A complaint has been lodged against Chief Justice Getrude Torkonoo at the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akolgo Yakubu Ayamga.

The senior police officer and lawyer has accused the Chief Justice of abusing her office and powers following an incident where she ordered his arrest during a session of the apex court in November 2023.

In a comprehensive response to media coverage of the matter, Mr Ayamga detailed a series of events leading to his arrest.

According to him, the incident unfolded during his presentation of a case before the Supreme Court, where he respectfully, boldly, and fearlessly presented his arguments.

However, a remark by Chief Justice Torkornoo, stating, “you are shouting,” interrupted his presentation, leading to an order for him to resume his seat.

The disagreement escalated after the Chief Justice allegedly made offensive remarks, questioning Ayamga’s competence and professionalism. In response to these remarks, Ayamga asserts that he calmly and respectfully disagreed, prompting the Chief Justice to order his arrest.

Mr Ayamga was promptly arrested by a subordinate police officer, escorted outside the courtroom, and unlawfully detained for about two hours, according to his account.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police contends that his arrest had nothing to do with his disagreement with the Court’s judgement, as initially reported in the media.

He asserted that the Chief Justice’s actions were driven by “a rush of anger, prejudice, and malice,” constituting an abuse of judicial power.

Mr Ayamga further contended that his arrest, which he claimed was not recorded in the court’s official records, amounted to a deliberate cover-up of the true sequence of events.

“Presumptions aside, a respectful and fearless disagreement with an off judgement remark of a judge is not a criminal offence to trigger arrest and detention. The arrest was unconscionable, irrational, unfair and without due process from the perspective of a reasonable, fair-minded and informed independent person.

“The arrest was merely influenced by a rush of anger, prejudice and malice aforethought which constitute impropriety or abuse of prestige judicial power by the Chief Justice,” the Assistant Superintendent of Police stated in his rejoinder.

  • Lagos pastor Feyi Daniels faces life imprisonment for raping church member

Lagos pastor Feyi Daniels faces life imprisonment for raping church member

Feyi Daniels, the founder of iReign Christian Ministry, was given a life sentence by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court in a historic ruling for the horrific act of raping a church member.

The trial judge, Rahman Oshodi, found the Lagos-based cleric guilty of both rape and sexual assault against a female worshipper, whose identity has been withheld.

The judge ruled that Daniels will spend the remainder of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility in Lagos.

Justice Oshodi emphasised that the prosecution successfully established the elements of the two offences, citing testimony from a 19-year-old church member and a 23-year-old pastor assistant.

In a scathing assessment, Oshodi characterised Daniels as a liar who showed no regard for the truth.

The prosecution’s case presented a compelling argument against Daniels, who took the witness stand in his defence.

The Bishop claimed that three out of the four women accusing him of sexual assault had conspired against him.

However, under cross-examination, the lead counsel for the prosecution, Babajide Boye, sought to reveal a ‘personal relationship’ between Daniels and the accusers.

Boye alleged that Daniels had provided financial assistance to one woman for hospital treatment, paid school fees for another, and had a counselling relationship with a third.

The Bishop vehemently denied giving money for treatment and asserted that one of the accusers later apologised to him.

The prosecutor also accused Daniels of using his position as a pastor to manipulate those seeking counselling.

The defence counsel, Adebayo Adegbite, raised objections to the admissibility of the statements. He argued that the statements were not made by the defendant and that the Bishop signed them under duress.

“The statements are a mixture of confession and denial. We leave it to the court to determine whether they amount to a confession. Right from the start of this trial, the defendant has denied the charges, that’s his plea.

The documents weren’t made voluntarily. Even if there were contradictions, he wasn’t the maker of the documents, they were written by the police,” Adegbite stated.

Meanwhile, in his ruling, Justice Rahman Oshodi admitted the documents.

The judge said, “By section 9(3) and (4) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State (2021), the presence of a video testimony of the suspect is desirable but not compulsory.

I will admit the documents and later consider the evidential value to place on them. The objection of the defence is hereby overruled.”

Blessed Godsbrain Smart, widely known as Captain Smart, the Morning Show Host of Onua TV, a Media General subsidiary, challenged popular beliefs surrounding the potency of tiger nuts and championed the benefits of coconut water for male sexual health.

Contrary to the widespread notion that tiger nuts enhance male libido, Captain Smart categorically dismissed it as a fallacy.
