Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP) Sarah Adwoa Safo has confidently exercised her franchise in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries, held at the Atomic Basketball Park on Saturday morning.

The seasoned MP, seeking re-election, sported a jubilant smile as she navigated the voting process, extending greetings to delegates with a two-sure sign in the air.

Having narrowly secured victory in the 2020 primaries by eight votes, Adwoa Safo, despite facing challenges regarding her residency in the United States over the past three years, remains determined to retain her seat.

This election pits her against a formidable opponent, Michael Oquaye Jnr, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, who narrowly lost to her in the 2020 contest.

Adding a new dimension to the competition is Sheela Oppong Sakyi, a legal practitioner and strategist at the Office of the First Lady, introducing fresh dynamics to an already intense race for the Dome-Kwabenya parliamentary seat.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) polls are still ongoing, but Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, has boldly declared that he expects to win with almost 80% of the vote.

The Majority Chief Whip, seeking a fourth term, faces a tough competition from Hayford Siaw, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Library Authority.

After casting his vote, Annoh-Dompreh affirmed his victory, stating, “I am winning, I told you before, I predicted 80 percent; it may be more.”

The MP praised the electoral process, highlighting its smooth and impressive nature.

He commended the high voter turnout and emphasised the absence of any significant issues, noting, “If you look at the turnout, it is impressive. I think it has been smooth, no hitches so far.”

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to conduct its parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting MPs today, January 27, 2024.

The polls are expected to occur in 105 constituencies nationwide, with a few incumbent MPs going unopposed.

The National Executive Council of the party earlier disqualified 17 persons from contesting in the parliamentary primaries, leaving 322 candidates to contest.

The primaries are deemed to be fiercely contested nationwide.

Some constituencies appear to be battlegrounds ahead of the polls, which will elect candidates for the party ahead of the December general election.

Adansi Asokwa, Dome Kwabenya, Asante Akim Central, Bantama, Tano North, Old Tafo and Bekwai are deemed to be battleground constituencies.

The party experienced a notable decline, losing 32 seats and reducing the numbers to 137, whilst the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) gained some seats, bringing their total to 137.

The NPP only regained the parliamentary majority when an independent candidate decided to align with them in Parliament.

The voting will commence at 0700 hours and end at 1400 hours today.

There would be no proxy voting.

In a statement dated January 19, 2024, the party urged aspirants and other stakeholders to comply with all regulations to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

You can’t command the spirit – Diana Hamilton replies Nathaniel Bassey over ‘Sing in English’ remark

Ghanaian gospel sensation, Diana Hamilton, has countered Nigerian singer Nathaniel Bassey‘s recent suggestion that Ghanaian musicians should predominantly sing in English to gain global recognition.

Hamilton contends that the essence of music lies in its spiritual message and impact on people’s lives, dismissing Bassey’s concerns about language barriers.

In an interview with Serwaa Amihere on GhOne TV, Hamilton expressed her disagreement with Nathaniel Bassey’s advice, asserting that the language in which gospel music is sung is secondary to its spiritual essence.

She emphasised that singing in local dialects does not hinder a musician’s career and cited her own success while blending English and Twi in her songs.

“Pastor Nathaniel [Bassey] made a statement about what he thinks, but is that what is working everywhere? I don’t think so. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” Hamilton stated. She highlighted the importance of expressing oneself in the first language and emphasised that judging others based on language choices is not justified.

Nathaniel Bassey had sparked controversy with his assertion that Ghanaian gospel musicians could achieve global success by primarily singing in English rather than local dialects like Twi.

Some artists took offence, arguing that his comments undermined their potential and contribution to the gospel music scene.

He stressed that musicians could have extraordinary success abroad if the government gave music the same financial backing it gives football.

Ghanaian musician Fancy Gadam revealed a turning point in his career that allowed him to see his own worth in a recent interview with Majority Radio in Tamale.

He credited renowned rapper Sarkodie for this.

Fancy Gadam revealed that the turning point occurred during a concert held at the Tamale Sports Stadium in 2017, where he had booked Sarkodie as a guest artiste.

Since that significant event in 2017, he has made a deliberate decision to set his performance fee at no less than GH¢100,000.

The artist emphasized how this realization marked a turning point in his career, causing him to reevaluate his contributions to the music scene and place a higher value on his talent and performances.

My absence from Sista Afia’s concert was not deliberate; it coincided with Ramadan – Fancy Gadam

Ghanaian artist, Fancy Gadam, sheds light on the circumstances leading to his absence from Sista Afia’s concert at Tamale Sports Stadium, citing last-minute agreement and timing concerns.

In an interview with Majority Radio in Tamale, Fancy Gadam disclosed that the collaboration with Sista Afia was finalized just a week before the scheduled event.

The negotiation involved a fee reduction to GH¢50,000 per artiste due to a direct request from Sista Afia herself.

Expressing concerns beyond the financial aspect, Fancy Gadam highlighted issues regarding the timing of the concert, especially with Ramadan approaching.

Advocating for proper promotion, he suggested postponing the event to ensure its success.

Despite being paid a week in advance, the ‘Total Cheat’ artist opted to prioritise his brand reputation, choosing not to attend the concert to avoid any negative impact.

Fancy Gadam emphasised the significance of strategic planning and adequate promotion for the success of events in the entertainment industry.

“Sista Afia didn’t approach us. Someone called and said he wanted to do a show with me and her. We charged GH¢100,000. Then she called herself, wanting me to help her, so I took GH¢50,000 per artiste-to-artiste agreement, meaning half of the initial fee.

“We needed time to promote the show. Timing was the main issue and it was Ramadan. We are all Muslims and fasting so they will not want to attend,” Fancy Gadam explained.

Even though he had been paid a week before the event, the ‘Total Cheat’ hitmaker said he decided not to honour the invitation to protect his brand.

“I didn’t want to dent my reputation. The timing was the main thing,” Fancy Gadam clarified, emphasising the importance of strategic planning and promotion for successful events.

Sista Afia revealed that her Queen Solomon Concert in Tamale failed due to the absence of artists from the Northern Region.

“The whole show was sabotaged because I didn’t have Fancy or one other artiste on the bill. So they kept removing the plugs. When I stepped on stage, after 2 seconds, they took the plug, and all the lights went back off. They kept doing it even before I went on stage.”

Amenyah highlighted the significance of inspiring and incentivizing film makers to release additional films, highlighting the critical role Ghanaian moviegoers’ attendance at theatres plays in the industry’s expansion.

Drawing comparisons between the Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries, Amenyah acknowledges Nigeria’s robust film sector, attributing it to both financial investments and strong audience turnout during premieres.

We are learning from them, and we will get there. They learn from us in terms of production and filming, but we have to learn from them in terms of support and promotion because they outperform us.”

Ed Sheeran’s management unveils strategies to thwart ticket touts in Leeds Crown Court trial

The management team of English singer-songwriter Edward Christopher Sheeran MBE, also referred to as Ed Sheeran, revealed during a trial at Leeds Crown Court that they were trying to discourage ticket sellers by invalidating tickets that were resold for excessive profit.

Mark Woods and Lynda Chenery of Norfolk face three counts of fraudulent trading related to TQ Tickets Ltd, denying the allegations.

Stuart Camp, Sheeran’s manager, highlighted the singer’s commitment to maintaining ticket accessibility for a broad audience.

The trial revealed that the defendants are accused of using multiple identities to purchase tickets for artists like Sheeran and Little Mix, subsequently selling them on secondary ticket platforms for financial gain.

During the trial, Camp detailed the pricing of Sheeran’s 2018 tour tickets, emphasising a long-term ethical business strategy.

Concertgoers with resold tickets faced entry restrictions, requiring ID and proof of purchase.

Approximately 6,300 replacement tickets were sold during the tour to rectify unauthorised ticket issues.

National Trading Standards investigators discovered that TQ Tickets Ltd workers had bought 70 tickets for the tour at an average price of £74.17.

Prosecutors asserted that the company made over £6.5 million from secondary ticketing sites in two and a half years.

Maria Chenery-Woods, described as the “driving force” behind the alleged “dishonest enterprise,” admitted fraudulent trading along with Paul Douglas. In contrast, their spouses, Mark Woods and Lynda Chenery, contest the charges as they face trial.

Potato-like pitch is to blame for the last-minute goal-keeping error by Richard Ofori – Maxwell Baako discloses

Ghanaians witnessed a crucial goalkeeping error by Richard Ofori during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which allowed Mozambique to score their second goal in the last moments of their Group B match against the Black Stars on January 22, 2024.

The unforgettable blunder, captured in a widely shared video, sparked severe criticism and calls for Ofori’s permanent exclusion from the national team.

However, new information has emerged, shedding light on the incident.

Maxwell Nana Essien from Kumasi-based Pure FM provided context, attributing the mishap to the challenging pitch conditions at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.

Former teammate Maxwell Baako, who played with Ofori at Wa All Stars, revealed that Ofori blamed the potato-like nature of the pitch for the unfortunate bounce that resulted in the conceded corner kick.

Baako conveyed, “He (Richard Ofori) has spoken to Maxwell Baako. They were teammates at Wa All Stars, so they still have a good relationship.

According to Baako, Ofori told him that the pitch was not good, so the ball was often bouncing.

He thought the ball came off one Ghanaian player, so he wanted to catch it and prevent a corner kick. It was not deliberate.”

Despite the attempt to explain the incident, the Black Stars’ disappointing performance in the 2023 AFCON, with no wins, two draws, and one loss, led to their elimination in the group stage.

This outcome mirrored their fate in the 2021 edition, prompting the Ghana Football Association to sack coach Chris Hughton in the aftermath of the Ivory Coast tournament.

  • Netflix cancels Halle Berry’s Sci-Fi film, “The Mothership,” due to extensive reshoots needed

Netflix cancels Halle Berry’s Sci-Fi film, “The Mothership,” due to extensive reshoots needed

American actress Halle Maria Berry’s film was turned down by the esteemed TV network Netflix.

Netflix has decided not to release Halle Berry’s highly anticipated sci-fi film, “The Mothership,” according to reports from US media outlets.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the streaming giant made the decision due to significant reshoots required during the post-production stage.

Filming for “The Mothership” was completed by co-producer Halle Berry and her team in 2021, with an initial release planned for 2022.

Despite being part of Berry’s multi-picture partnership with Netflix, neither the actress nor the streaming platform has made any public comments regarding the cancellation.

The film, touted as a sci-fi adventure, follows Sara Morse (played by Halle Berry) a year after her husband mysteriously disappears from their rural farm.

Netflix had initially announced the project in February 2021, building anticipation with a captivating trailer that promised an extraterrestrial journey in search of truth and family.

Sources cited by various US entertainment news outlets suggest that prolonged delays in post-production were the primary reason for Netflix’s decision not to move forward with the release.

“The Mothership” was set to be the directorial feature debut for British Oscar nominee Matthew Charman. Despite this setback, Halle Berry remains engaged with Netflix, having debuted on the platform as a director with the drama “Bruised” in 2020. She is also set to co-star in the upcoming action thriller, “The Union,” alongside Mark Wahlberg.

Netflix recently reported a surge in sign-ups at the end of last year, attributing the growth to a crackdown on password-sharing and increased customer engagement. With over 13.1 million new subscriptions in the final quarter of 2023, the streaming giant is confident in its growth trajectory and has plans to raise prices.

I regret ‘sacrificing’ my womb for fame – Former Pussycat Dolls member Kaya Jones reveals

In a recent revelation, former Pussycat Dolls member, Kaya Jones, candidly shared her personal journey involving abortion and the profound impact it had on her life.

At 19 years old, Jones found herself pregnant after joining the popular girl group and was promptly advised to terminate the pregnancy.

Following the abortion, Jones experienced a moment of reflection during a concert performance where she noticed two young girls looking up to her.

This encounter triggered a sense of conviction within her, prompting her to reevaluate the promiscuous image she was projecting to her young fans.

Recalling the experience, Jones admitted, “The Lord used [them] to speak to me that day. That conviction… hit me to my core.” She elaborated on how fame and wealth failed to fill the void in her heart created by the decision to abort her children, emphasizing that material success could not bring them back.

Despite achieving significant milestones in her career, including selling millions of records and winning a Grammy with the Pussycat Dolls, Jones emphasised the emptiness she felt.

Motivated by her spiritual beliefs, she expressed the conviction that her story serves as a testament to the spiritual battle surrounding abortion.

“This is not a joke. It’s not a game. The spirit that he delivered me from is an antichrist spirit,” Jones declared, urging others to recognize the spiritual ramifications associated with abortion. She acknowledged the emotional and mental trauma that some women and men endure after such decisions but emphasised the message of forgiveness from a higher power.
Jones concluded her testimony by urging the audience to pray for counter-protesters at a pro-life event, highlighting the gravity of aborting lives created in the image of God.

In her impassioned plea, she asserted, “When you abort a child, you are killing a piece of God. You are being literally the hands and feet of Satan.”

The Pussycat Dolls were an American girl group and dance ensemble, founded in Los Angeles, California, by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a burlesque troupe.

The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide success with the singles “Don’t Cha”, “Stikwitu”, “Buttons”, and their multi-platinum debut album PCD (2005).

It’s dangerous spending quality time on social media without being productive – Abeiku Santana advises the youth

Renowned radio host, Abeiku Santana, has highlighted the potential pitfalls of spending excessive hours on social media platforms without leveraging them for personal growth.

According to Santana, individuals who invest hours watching entertaining videos and engaging in non-constructive conversations may jeopardise their chances of a successful future.

Santana emphasised the importance of making positive use of social media, pointing out that while some people effectively utilise it for financial gain and various benefits, others squander valuable time on meaningless pursuits.

He cautioned against spending extended periods solely on entertainment without extracting any tangible benefits.

“We all have 24 hours, but what do you do with that? Some people spend three hours on social media, which isn’t necessarily bad unless you are making money from there. However, if you spend three hours watching funny videos without any productive outcome, it’s dangerous,” Abeiku Santana warned during a discussion on Okay FM.

He urged individuals to be mindful of how they utilize their time on social media, suggesting that dedicating such substantial periods to entertainment, particularly without tangible returns, may hinder the foundation of a promising future.

Santana stressed the significance of not taking the present for granted, emphasizing its role as the groundwork for future success.

In a recent interview on 3FM with Blakk Rasta, Dr. Zilla Limann, wife of Reggie Rockstone, disclosed the unique beginnings of her romance with the renowned musician.

Dr. Limann shed light on the challenges they faced initially, attributing them to her status as the daughter of the late President, Dr. Hilla Limann.

Despite initial worries, she commended Reggie Rockstone for overcoming the hurdles and pursuing their relationship.

Detailing the intimidating nature of courting a former president’s daughter, Dr. Limann expressed her confidence in Reggie Rockstone as the ideal life partner.

While acknowledging the inevitable differences in their marriage, she emphasised the absence of significant controversies, portraying a strong and resilient bond between them.

Dr. Zilla Limann reflected on the journey, revealing that both she and Reggie Rockstone attended the same primary and senior high school, further solidifying their connection.

With over 21 years of marriage, the couple’s story highlights not only the challenges they faced but also their ability to navigate and sustain a lasting relationship.

“I can assure you that was quite intimidating because it is not every day that you meet a former president’s daughter and you are just going to court and marrying her. That was very intimidating and he would tell you that a trip to Gonu in the Upper West close to the border was no joke at all, because you’d have to make it if you wanted to marry the president’s daughter.

“I don’t think I would find any better match than Reggie Rockstone not to say that we don’t have our differences but we settle it when it matters. There is no better partner than him. And most people don’t know we went to the same primary school, the same Senior High School as well and we were in the same house,” she said.

  • Andre Ayew deserves praise than hate- Isaac Ampah writes in article

Andre Ayew deserves praise than hate- Isaac Ampah writes in article

In the aftermath of Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, there is a growing chorus for some Black Stars players, especially Captain Andre Ayew, to consider voluntary retirement or face potential forced exits.

The sentiment stems from Ghana’s consecutive group-stage exits in the 2021 and 2023 AFCONs, coupled with struggles against perceived ‘football minnows.’ Critics argue that Ayew, despite his illustrious career, has not been in top form and should gracefully step aside, allowing a new era of young talent to emerge.

As the national team undergoes changes with the dissolution of Coach Chris Hughton’s technical team, proponents of Ayew’s retirement emphasize the need for rebuilding the team with the current crop of promising young players.

They believe that while the newcomers may face challenges initially, they will eventually learn and lead Ghana to victories.

Despite the disappointment, a section of Ghanaians has resorted to harsh criticisms and vilifications of Andre Ayew, which some argue is unfair.

The article highlights Ayew’s significant contributions to the Black Stars’ best performances since the 1992 AFCON, citing his role in reaching the finals of the 2010 AFCON and the 2015 AFCON, where he won the Golden Boot.

The piece also draws parallels with the treatment of another Ghanaian football legend, Asamoah Gyan, who faced criticism during his career but is now celebrated.

It underscores the cyclical nature of public opinion and suggests that Ayew’s contributions to Ghana’s football history will ultimately be recognized and appreciated.

In the end, the article calls for a fair assessment of Ayew’s career, acknowledging his status as Ghana’s all-time top scorer at the AFCON and highlighting his achievements in leading the Under-20 team to win Africa’s first FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.

Whether facing criticism or receiving accolades, Andre Ayew’s name is said to be eternally etched in gold in Ghana’s football history.

Below is the article from Isaac Ampah:

Following Ghana’s nauseating performance at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, I am of an inexorable conviction that a few of the current Black Stars players must voluntarily retire from the team; otherwise, be summarily retired!

One of such players I expect to voluntarily retire from the national team is captain Andre Ayew.

Andre Ayew’s time with the national team is done, and you don’t need a soothsayer or special technical acumen to tell you the obvious.

Ghana has had disastrous outings in consecutive AFCONs where we were bundled out at the group stage with one and two points in the 2021 and 2023 tournaments respectively.

Beyond these abysmal performances, the Black Stars have in recent times struggled against, hitherto, ‘football minnows’ like Comoros, Central African Republic, Nicaragua, Cape Verde and Mozambique among others.

Skipper Andre Ayew hasn’t been in good form for the team during these few challenging years and I strongly hold that after his debut in 2007, and with over 16 years of national team service under his belt, it is time for him to bow out gracefully, than be pushed out. The reality is that, sometimes, you are wholly willing to do your best in a particular situation but it gets to a time where the spirit would be willing but the body would be weak.

We are humans and these are the vicissitudes of life!

Following the dissolution of Coach Chris Hughton’s technical team, it is time for the new coach who will be appointed to begin a cleansing of the team by rebuilding the team with the current crop of young talents available. They will falter. They will make mistakes. But they will grow; and they will learn. And they will win eventually!

In the ensuing disappointment expressed by a section of Ghanaians however, there have been scathing attacks, vituperations, invectives and aspersions cast at Andre Ayew which in my estimation, are utterly unfair to the 34 year old captain of the Black Stars.

Criticizing players is an age-long tradition which isn’t going to stop: Not today, not tomorrow, not ever! In fact, when constructive, it serves as a propeller for players who’re experiencing a downward spiral in their performance. But there’s a huge difference between outright vilification and constructive criticism.

Andre is being blatantly bastardized and demonized both on traditional and social media. What exactly is Andre’s crime? Did he invite himself to the AFCON? Didn’t he deserve to be called up as captain of an inexperienced team? Was he the one coaching the team? Was he responsible for team selection? Should he have refused to come on anytime Hughton asked him to? Did he intentionally handle the ball for Mozambique’s penalty? And once again, what exactly is his crime?

Fact of the matter is that, we’re unwilling to give Andre his flowers but are always quick to vilipend and disparage him, despite being integral in all of the Black Stars’ best performances since the ever popular Senegal ‘92 AFCON.

He was key in Ghana getting to the final of the 2010 AFCON in Angola where we lost to Egypt and he was named in the Team of the Tournament as a substitute. In that same year, he was in supreme form as Ghana made its first quarter final berth at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Interestingly, after the mundial, he was named as one of the Three Best Young Players of the Tournament alongside Germany’s Thomas Muller and Mexico’s Giovanni Dos Santos. Maybe, this feat wasn’t trumpeted enough and I’m inclined to believe not many Ghanaians know about this. Fast forward to AFCON 2015 where Ghana were again finalists, Andre Ayew won the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer. It is undoubted that these three tournaments have been Ghana’s best outings since 1992, and Andre Ayew has been immanent in all of them.

What would most probably pass as Andre’s biggest achievement for Ghana is leading the Under- 20 team to win Africa’s first ever FIFA U-20 Word Cup in 2009: A feat still unmatched in Africa. Prior to this accomplishment, he had also led the team to win the Under-20 AFCON in Rwanda.

Andre Ayew may have had some bad patches in recent outings for the Black Stars but that doesn’t call for outright vilification and condemnation of all he’s given to the national team.

It must be succinctly accentuated that Andre presently wields the record as Ghana’s all-time top scorer at the AFCON with 10 goals. It must also be noted that he is the Ghanaian with the most AFCON tournaments (8) under his belt and joint in the whole of Africa for AFCON appearances (36) with Cameroon’s Rigobert Song.

Interestingly, some may not have noticed that this is a familiar story. Same happened to the legendary Asamoah Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals.

Gyan scored two of Ghana’s most crucial goals to qualify us for our first World Cup appearance in 2006: Goals against Uganda and DR Congo, which were both scored away and earned us a point each. He subsequently had a good World Cup in Germany, scoring Ghana’s first ever goal at the Mundial. However, at the 2008 AFCON hosted in Ghana, Asamoah Gyan was so much vilified and bastardized that he packed his stuff, and was on his way out of camp, but for the intervention of then President of Ghana, J.A. Kuffuor.

Two years on, we had a blistering campaign at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa and Gyan was Ghana’s lynchpin. He was in devastating form, scoring penalties against Serbia and Australia and a thumping winner against USA in the Round of 16. However, when he unfortunately missed a late penalty against Uruguay which would have sent us to the semi finals, he was once again torn apart by these same section of Ghanaians, forgetting what he had done throughout the tournament for the country.

Two years on, in 2012, Ghana went for another AFCON and Asamoah Gyan missed a crucial penalty in the semi finals against Zambia and the Chipolopolos went on to win the game. Once again Gyan was at the receiving end of invectives which led him to take an indefinite break from the Black Stars where he cited verbal abuse from fans as his reason for taking that break. After returning from his indefinite international break, Asamoah Gyan announced that he would no longer take penalties for the Black Stars.

Isn’t this a familiar story? Isn’t this exactly what is being meted out to Andre Ayew?

Surprisingly, but not so astounding for some of us, these same people who bastardized and vilified Asamoah Gyan in his time, are the same people hailing him now and wishing he were with the Black Stars currently. Hypocritical, isn’t it? Or maybe it’s just funny; to put it mildly.

And I trust that Andre will retire from the Black Stars sooner than later. And by sooner, I indeed mean now! And I am convinced that just as is happening with Asamoah Gyan now, Andre Ayew will also vivaciously receive his flowers and plaudits from these same section of Ghanaians who are today pillorying him.

But whichever way it goes, or whether we loathe him or love him, one thing will be. And that is, his name, Andre Ayew, will forever be etched in gold in the annals of Ghana’s football history!

  • I can sue you all – Angry Maurice Ampaw tells Ashanti Chiefs

I can sue you all – Angry Maurice Ampaw tells Ashanti Chiefs

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has announced his intention to drag an Ashanti Chief to court over a remark the latter made against the former in reaction to derogatory allegations against the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

The Divisional Heads of the Kumasi Traditional Councilagain have expressed indignation about the purported use of two of the Kumasi-based radio stations owned by Chairman Wontumi by Maurice Ampaw, to further denigrate chiefs in the Ashanti region.

The duo have been summoned to appear before the Council on Monday, January 29, 2024.

But ahead of this meeting to address the matter, Mr Ampaw has recounted an incident where he was referenced by one of the Chiefs in a manner he found derogatory.

In an interview on Kasapa FM, Mr Ampaw, on Thursday, January 25, noted that he would not take the comments likely and is considering a class action suit.

“The constitution guarantees us all a fair hearing, and for someone you summoned me and the party came to plead on his behalf, and you sit right there to judge the person and someone referenced me, one of the Chiefs saying, ‘Lawyer Ampaw, is he a lawyer in a car?’ That’s how that chief addressed me, saying he doesn’t know the type of Lawyer I am, imagine making such utterances.”

“You have made bad utterances about me on social media, trying to get my reaction as a chief and rubbish my credentials. I can sue the Chief in court, and it’s an option I am considering,” he added.

Despite the initial tension, Mr Ampaw assured that he would honour the Chiefs’ invitation.

“Everything that I have said will be subjected to strict proof. I am going there happily because I will explain everything to them. I will wear white-white. I am ready,” he added.

In a surprising turn of events, Maurice Ampaw has issued an apology to the Chiefs of the Ashanti region, retracting one of his earlier statements he deemed extreme.

“I am using this platform to tell Nananom (chiefs) that if my utterances were extreme and they see it very offensive, I retract and apologize.

“I believe that let Asanteman move on, there is so much to do in the Ashanti Region and there is so much at stake in this political area and my love for Bawumia and NPP still stands.

“It is my prayer that we all support Chairman Wontumi to bring victory to the party and also support Otumfuo to bring development to the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM.

In an earlier interview with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma, Mr Ampaw stated that “We are going to talk law, and no one is above the law. I will honour the invitation; you will clap for lawyer Ampaw on Monday. I am going with the truth. Otumfuo supports the truth, and I am going to lay bare the facts.”
