“He was drunk” – Asamoah Gyan replies Dafeamekpor over 2010 penalty miss accusation

Ghana’s leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan, has offered a witty comeback to NDC Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, following the MP’s claim that Gyan intentionally missed a crucial penalty during the 2010 World Cup quarter-final against Uruguay.

In response to critical tweets directed at the MP, Gyan suggested that Dafeamekpor made the accusation while intoxicated.

In another retort, the former Sunderland forward humorously implied that the politician may be seeking an autograph from him, thus framing his request in a peculiar manner.

“Maybe he wants an autograph. Don’t worry. I will sign one for him soon,” he wrote.

Some Ghanaians have strongly criticised the lawmaker, labelling his remarks as foolish and nonsensical.

During a Radio XYZ interview, Dafeamekpor asserted that Asamoah Gyan’s allegiance to the New Patriotic Party throughout his life had influenced his actions during his football career.

Specifically, he suggested that Gyan’s missed penalty in the 2010 World Cup quarter-final against Uruguay was politically motivated.

Dafeamekpor also expressed disapproval of Gyan’s decision to join the manifesto committee for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s candidate in the 2024 elections.

Per Dafeamekpor’s assertions, Asamoah Gyan should not have accepted the role, as he is a national figure whose popularity and admiration cut across the two major political parties.

“I am of the opinion that Asamoah Gyan intentionally threw away that penalty because it was under NDC. It’s today that I’ve come to the realisation that he threw away the penalty in the 2010 World Cup and the African Cup because the glory would have come to the NDC.

“Asamoah Gyan is now part of the Bawumia campaign team. There is everything wrong with that, because when you are a national figure and you become partisan, I can reasonably say that it’s because of politics that you threw that penalty away so that the NDC government will not get the glory. I am telling you that I feel the pain,” he said.

Asamoah Gyan deliberately missed 2010 World Cup penalty because NDC was in power – Dafeamekpor

Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has launched a strong critique against legendary Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, alleging that he intentionally missed a penalty during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Speaking in a Radio XYZ interview, Dafeamekpor claimed that Gyan, a known supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), allowed his political affiliations to influence his actions on the field during his playing days.

The incident in question occurred during a quarter-final match against Uruguay, where Gyan failed to convert a penalty kick that could have propelled Ghana to the semi-finals, marking a historic achievement for African football.

Dafeamekpor asserts that Gyan’s penalty miss was politically motivated.

Furthermore, Dafeamekpor criticised Gyan’s acceptance of a role on the manifesto committee for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s candidate in the 2024 elections.

According to Dafeamekpor, Gyan’s status as a national figure should have prevented him from aligning himself so closely with a single political party, given his widespread popularity transcending political divides.

Asamoah Gyan, who was recently inaugurated as part of the manifesto team on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, has addressed the criticism surrounding his alignment with Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.

The legendary footballer responded to the backlash by stating that he was unfazed by the attacks. He believes that the appointment provides him with a platform to utilise his extensive experience gained over two decades as a footballer, boxing promoter, and sports event organiser.

“They have their own opinions,” said Gyan at the inauguration of the NPP’s campaign team for the 2024 general elections, at the Alisa Hotel, when he was quizzed about his thoughts on his critics.

“I have been there [before]. I have been to Stadia, and been booed in front of 80,000 people, I am used to it.

“At the end of the day, the work shows. Sometimes, you go to the enemy’s territory and you come out with applause. I have confidence in myself and I know what I can do to help. I am here to help because of my 20 years of experience. I can’t just sit at home and keep it. I have to share it with the new generation to benefit from it.

“At the end of the day, when everything is said and done, we see what we did or what we couldn’t do. The criticism will come. It is also good for me personally and for my team to push harder,” he added.

Asamoah Gyan has been appointed as the head of the youth and sports sub-committee within Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto team.

Chairperson of the sub-committee responsible for drafting the youth and sports segment of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s manifesto for the 2024 elections, Asamoah Gyan, has responded to critics of his appointment by affirming that his role on the committee aims to contribute to the advancement of sports in the country.

His responsibility involves leveraging his expertise to devise strategies for sports development and the empowerment of Ghanaian youth.

Addressing criticisms during the inauguration of the committee on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Gyan acknowledged the scrutiny he has faced.

However, he remains undeterred by the backlash, viewing the appointment as an opportunity to apply his two decades of experience as a footballer, boxing promoter, and sports event organiser.

“They have their own opinions,” Gyan said at the inauguration of the NPP’s campaign team for the 2024 general elections at the Alisa Hotel when quizzed about the thoughts of his critics.

  • Saddick Adams slams Asamoah Gyan’s critics following lead role in Bawumia’s committee

Saddick Adams slams Asamoah Gyan’s critics following lead role in Bawumia’s committee

Ace sports journalist, Saddick Adams, has commended legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan for accepting the call by the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for him (Asamoah Gyan) to serve on the committee that will be drafting his manifesto for the 2024 elections.

Saddick Adams, who is the head of sports at Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN-Accra), believes that Gyan’s decision is a positive step that must be welcomed by Ghanaians.

He reasons that Gyan, a sports technocrat, has the potential to contribute significantly to policy decisions that will shape the future of sports in the country.

Sports Obama, as he is fondly called, encouraged more sports personalities to take up political roles as their presence in the political field could be to the benefit of the sports sector.

He chided Ghanaians who have been critical of Gyan’s move, questioning the logic of their attacks on the former Sunderland striker.

Sports Obama warned that Ghana risks losing out on the resourceful and brilliant contributions of technocrats if the politics of insults continue to fester.

“If he’s done with football and wants to be a politician, I don’t find anything wrong with it. He has to be encouraged to make a choice and he has to choose what he wants. The only problem is that people elsewhere do not get attacked for saying they like this or that. We’ve seen actors join politics and nothing happened.

“This idea that once you enter politics, you must be insulted is not good and we must do away with it. We have to stop the insults and make our politics better. People with experience must be allowed to enter politics.

“We have to make it an arena where anyone who has anything to contribute can enter and make an impact. I don’t support the idea of Gyan being attacked. He has not offended anyone,” he said.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Asamoah Gyan was appointed as a member of the manifesto committee for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign. Specifically, he was designated as the chair of the youth and sports sub-committee, tasked with leveraging his expertise to formulate strategies for sports development and the advancement of Ghanaian youth.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on the same day, February 21, 2024, Gyan expressed his readiness to contribute to the cause. Drawing from his extensive career experience, he emphasised his capability to utilise his knowledge for the betterment of sports in the country.

“I always ask myself, How do we create change if we don’t want to change? How do we spectate without being on the bench and how do we score without being on the field?

“How do we pass on the baton to the next generation if we don’t share our experience? How do we achieve this without a clear path ahead? I believe that with collective experiences, we can orient the next generation to do better than what we did. We can give hope where hope is lost and we can inspire when all hope seems lost,” excerpts of his post read.

Don’t box Asamoah Gyan; George Weah wasn’t better than him – Miracles to Gyan-NPP links

Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 election campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has come to the defence of the appointment of legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan as the chairman of the sub-committee tasked with drafting the youth and sports aspects of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s manifesto for the 2024 elections.

Despite raised eyebrows and critics questioning Gyan’s competence to contribute meaningfully to policies shaping the future of sports and Ghanaian youth, Aboagye rebuked such scepticism on Asempa FM, emphasising the competence and intelligence of Asamoah Gyan.

Aboagye sees the opposition to Gyan’s appointment as indicative of a stereotype that views footballers as lacking the capacity to contribute meaningfully beyond the field.

He rejects attempts to pigeonhole Gyan solely as a football figure, arguing that he possesses the resourcefulness to occupy significant positions in the country.

Aboagye points to George Weah’s journey from footballer to President of Liberia, suggesting that if Weah could achieve such a feat, then Gyan, whom he regards as an even better footballer than Weah, should be more than capable of chairing a manifesto committee.

“Was Oppong Weah better than Asamoah Gyan? Didn’t he become president? If Oppong Weah, a footballer, could become president, then what’s wrong with Asamoah Gyan’s position? Are we saying a football player cannot draft a plan? A footballer became a president so why is it a jump too high for another footballer to chair an ordinary committee?

“We like to box people and label them but what we don’t know how to do is spot and harness talents. Let’s watch out for Asamoah Gyan. You’ll be amazed by the sort of delivery that young man will come up with,” he said.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Asamoah Gyan was appointed as a member of the manifesto committee for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign. Taking the helm of the youth and sports sub-committee, Gyan has been entrusted with leveraging his expertise to formulate ideas and strategies for sports advancement and the empowerment of Ghanaian youth.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye shed light on Dr. Bawumia’s rationale for selecting Gyan to lead the committee.

“Asamoah Gyan, at his young age, is already a legend. He has travelled across the world for years and has now retired. The best we can do is tap into his talent for wanting to fix our sports. Asamoah Gyan is a deep young man; he has a lot of ideas. If there is one person in the committee we believe is a masterstroke, then it is the selection of Asamoah Gyan. We are very grateful to him for helping us share his knowledge of sports,” he said.

Asamoah Gyan joins Bawumia as Youth and sports head on NPP’s manifesto sub-committee

Former Ghanaian football star Asamoah Gyan has been appointed to the Manifesto Committee of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Gyan, renowned as Ghana’s highest goal scorer, has accepted the role of leading the “Youth and Sports” sub-committee within the manifesto team.

He will collaborate with twenty-three other members to conduct a comprehensive review of the NPP’s manifestos from 2016 and 2020, with the aim of crafting a practical manifesto for the upcoming 2024 election.

The committee plans to achieve this by engaging with various stakeholders and seeking input from sector ministers, who will act as advisors. Their goal is to develop a forward-thinking and practical manifesto that addresses the needs of the Ghanaian population.

Gyan’s recent cryptic message on his X (formerly Twitter) page, shared on Wednesday, February 21, has now gained significance with his appointment to the committee.

I believe the time has come for legends in sports to come together and use their influence, network and resources to attract investors into our country and make a meaningful impact on our youth in the sports fraternity, I.e football, boxing and other athletics. I strongly…— ASAMOAH GYAN (@ASAMOAH_GYAN3) February 21, 2024

Gyan is now expected to take an active role in communicating the sports-related aspects of Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto once it is finalised.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, has appointed the outgoing Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, as the Chairman of the Committee.

Additionally, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been named as the vice chairman, while Evron Hughes will serve as the secretary. Prof. Kwaku Appiah Adu and Dr. Isaac Owusu Mensah will act as the manifesto committee coordinators.

The committee has been given the responsibility of conducting a thorough review of the party’s previous manifestos from the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Asamoah Gyan calls on colleague sports legends to invest in youth sports

Former national team player for the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has called upon fellow sports legends to join forces in rejuvenating the image of sports in the country.

Gyan emphasized the need for a concerted focus on empowering the youth in various sports sectors, including football, boxing, and athletics.

Expressing his views, Gyan stated, “I believe the time has come for Legends in sports to come together and use their influence, network, and resources in attracting investors into our country and make a meaningful impact on our youth in the sports fraternity, i.e., football, boxing, and other athletics.”

Highlighting the necessity for substantial investment in these sectors, Gyan believes that the collective efforts of sports legends can play a crucial role in not only attracting investors but also bringing Ghana back to its glory days in sports.

“I strongly believe that engaging our youth and grooming them through these avenues can get them to be more focused, make sports more fun and attractive, and eventually bring us together once again just as it used to be in the past. I have started this journey and I humbly invite all my colleagues to join in this cause in reclaiming our football days,” Gyan concluded.

Laryea Kingston denies allegations regarding Dede Ayew, Asamoah Gyan’s captaincy

Former Ghanaian footballer Laryea Kingston has refuted media claims suggesting that he accused Dede Ayew of using force to seize the captaincy from Asamoah Gyan.

Recent reports had surfaced indicating that Laryea Kingston, while discussing the Black Stars and their future, made a surprising statement.

According to Laryea, he expressed that former captain Asamoah Gyan was discontented due to his treatment and the manner in which the captaincy was transferred to Dede Ayew.

“Look at someone like Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew got the captaincy by force so if you are speaking to Asamoah now he is not happy,” he told Graphic Sport.

In a surprising turn of events, Laryea Kingston has refuted the alleged statement, asserting that he harbors no animosity towards the Ayews.

The former Hearts of Oak player clarified that his remarks were merely referencing his own experience of being denied the opportunity to play during the World Cup, despite his contributions to the country’s qualification efforts.

He emphasized that his comments in the interview should not be directly linked to the captaincy dispute between Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew.

“I was describing the trauma I went through during the days, I was mistreated for being denied the chance to play in the World Cup, not what has been attributed to me,” Kingston stated.

“I never mentioned the captaincy issue as has been attributed to me.”

  • Asamoah Gyan could earn an appointment if Bawumia wins presidency – Sammi Awuku in cryptic response

Asamoah Gyan could earn an appointment if Bawumia wins presidency – Sammi Awuku in cryptic response

Parliamentary candidate for Akuapem North under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, has suggested the potential involvement of Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan in both the campaign team and the prospective government of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

During an interview with Asempa FM regarding the economic address delivered by the NPP’s presidential aspirant on February 7, 2024, Awuku praised Gyan for attending the event.

When asked about Gyan’s presence, Awuku explained that the renowned footballer is a close associate of Dr. Bawumia and possesses substantial expertise in sports and sports-related investments.

“Watch out for him. Dr. Bawumia likes people with great ideas. He is his good friend, and so watch out for him; you will soon hear from him,” he said.

Sammi Awuku described Gyan as “one guy who has solid ideas and is an iconic figure. Love him or hate him.”

“He may never know. Now that he is in retirement and resting, he should come and show his prowess in politics,” he added.

Gyan’s presence has further fueled rumours of him being a member of the governing New Patriotic Party.

Asamoah Gyan has often been linked with the NPP, with reports that he has been preparing to contest the parliamentary seat on behalf of the party.

Initial reports linked him to the Weija-Gbawe Constituency after the MP for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, Sylvester Tetteh, alleged that Gyan was being lobbied by the camp of Dr Bawumia to oust him from his role.

He later apologised to Asamoah Gyan and disclosed that no such plan existed by the Bawumia camp to have Gyan contest him.

Laryea Kingston claims Asamoah Gyan still hurt over how he lost Black Stars captaincy to Dede Ayew

Former Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston
has disclosed that Asamoah Gyan continues to grapple with the emotional toll of losing the captaincy to Dede Ayew.

According to Kingston, Gyan has not fully recovered from the hurt of being replaced as captain, a position he believes was taken from him against his will.

He emphasised that Gyan’s lingering anguish becomes evident whenever he discusses the circumstances surrounding the loss of the armband.

“Look at someone like Asamoah Gyan; Dede Ayew got the captaincy by force so if you are speaking to Asamoah now, he is not happy,” he told Graphic Sports.

Before the 2019 AFCON tournament, former Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah appointed Asamoah Gyan as the general captain while officially designating Andre Dede Ayew as the team’s captain.

Defending his decision, which faced criticism, especially after Ghana’s early elimination from the tournament, Kwesi Appiah asserted that he believed he made the correct choice.

“It is about doing the right thing. I couldn’t have stripped Gyan of the captaincy and given it to Christian Atsu (or any junior player). Whoever deserves to take over, you give it to him,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV on YouTube.

Laryea Kingston, too, experienced disappointment when he was omitted from Ghana’s squads for the 2006 and 2010 World Cup tournaments, ultimately retiring from international football without ever participating in the prestigious event.

Reflecting on his past, he admitted that he harboured resentment towards the team for some time but has since found a way to move on.

“Myself, what they did to me for so many years, I never supported the Black Stars but just recently I sat down and said, It’s over; let me focus, he said.

Laryea Kingston’s name has emerged as one of the recommended candidates for the vacant Black Stars coaching position. Many observers see the former Hearts of Oak player as being on a promising trajectory in his coaching career and believe he has the potential to excel in the role.

  • It’s time Asamoah Gyan is included in GFA – Majeed Waris

It’s time Asamoah Gyan is included in GFA – Majeed Waris

Former Ghanaian striker Majeed Abdul Waris has voiced his opinion, urging the inclusion of legendary forward Asamoah Gyan in the management of Ghana football.

Waris, who believes Gyan has the nation at heart, asserts that the former captain could make a positive impact if involved with the Ghana Football Association.

This suggestion comes in the aftermath of Ghana’s early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations, prompting discussions on potential changes within the football administration.

Gyan, who has closely followed the Black Stars since his retirement, has not explicitly expressed a desire for a managerial role.

However, Waris, drawing on their shared experiences playing for the national team, emphasises Gyan’s commitment to the country.

The plea for Gyan’s involvement in football management is seen as a way to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to address the challenges facing Ghanaian football.

Both Waris and Gyan, who were integral members of the squad that qualified Ghana for the 2014 World Cup, share a history of representing the Black Stars.

While Waris currently plays for Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus, the spotlight is on the potential contributions of Gyan, a revered figure in Ghanaian football, to the future development of the sport in the country.

Ghanaians call for Asamoah Gyan, Essien, and Appiah to replace sacked Hughton after AFCON23 exit

The Ghanaian public has expressed its frustration and disappointment with the performance of the Black Stars at the ongoing Afcon23 in Ivory Coast, and has called for the appointment of former players Asamoah Gyan, Michael Essien, and Stephen Appiah as the new coaches of the national team.

The Black Stars, who were among the favourites to win the tournament, crashed out of the group stage after losing to Mozambique by 2-1 on Monday. This was their third consecutive defeat, following a 1-0 loss to Cape Verde and a 3-0 thrashing by Egypt.

The dismal showing led to the sacking of coach Chris Hughton, who had been in charge of the team since July 2023. He was the fifth coach to be fired by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the past six years.

Many Ghanaians have taken to social media to vent their anger and frustration, and to suggest possible replacements for Hughton. Some of the names that have been mentioned are Asamoah Gyan, Michael Essien, and Stephen Appiah, who are all former captains and strikers of the Black Stars.

These three players are widely regarded as some of the best and most successful in Ghana’s football history, having played for top clubs in Europe and Asia, and represented Ghana at several World Cups and Afcons.

Some of the fans believe that these players have the experience, the skills, and the passion to revive the fortunes of the Black Stars, and to inspire the current generation of players to perform better.

Moses Robert Wilson Antiri, in a Facebook comment, said that Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari should work together to raise the Ghana national team. If not, Asamoah should not take the offer alone; he should remember what they did to him at the World Cup.

He was referring to the infamous incident at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Gyan missed a crucial penalty in the quarter-final against Uruguay, after Muntari had scored a stunning goal in the first half. Ghana lost the match on penalties, and missed the chance to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

However, not everyone agrees that these former players are the best candidates for the coaching job. Some of the critics argue that coaching is a different profession from playing, and that being a great player does not necessarily mean being a great coach.

They also point out that none of these players have any formal coaching qualifications or experience, and that they may not have the tactical acumen, the managerial skills, or the temperament to handle the pressure and expectations of coaching the Black Stars.

Mickay Coachito Mumin stated on the same Facebook post that, “No, coaching is not about fame; it’s all about technical competence. There’s a difference between coaching experience and being a great player at all levels. I think experience on the job, coaching, experimenting, and learning on the job in coaching are paramount. Being a great player doesn’t guarantee that you can be a great coach.”

He suggested that the GFA should look for a more qualified and experienced coach, preferably from abroad, who can bring a fresh perspective and a new approach to the team.

As it stands now, the Black Stars team has no coach, and the GFA has not announced any plans or timelines for the recruitment of a new one. The next major assignment for the team is the 2024 World Cup qualifiers, which will begin in June 2024.

The Ghanaian public is eagerly waiting to see who will be the next coach of the Black Stars, and whether they will be able to restore the pride and glory of the nation’s football.

Former Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan, in reaction to the recent outcry by the comedian, has called on Ghanaians, both rich and poor, to pay a courtesy call on veteran comic actor Funny Face.

The legendary football player asserts that the comedian has made most Ghanaians happy, and hence they shouldn’t turn their backs on him when he most needs them.

This is the real reason why Asamoah Gyan lost his captaincy position -Kwasi Appiah tells

Ghanaian tactician James Kwasi Appiah has shed light on his decision to transfer the captaincy from Asamoah Gyan to Andre Ayew in 2019.

In an interview with Sienu TV, the former Black Stars coach explained that the change was prompted by Gyan’s diminishing physical strength, making it unlikely for him to start games during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Appiah’s decision to entrust the captain’s armband to Andre Ayew was a strategic move aimed at ensuring leadership on the field aligned with the team’s performance goals.

“I knew that his performance could not go to the level I wanted because modern football is not about name and his strength was not that high compared to years back.

“In actual fact, that was the main reason. Looking at the games he had played and personally, I don’t believe I will be the captain and I will be on the bench. The captain should be on the pitch to control things,” Coach Kwesi Appiah said.

The coach went on to reveal that, despite harbouring reservations about Asamoah Gyan’s fitness due to his limited game time in the months leading up to the AFCON, he held firm in his belief that the veteran still possessed valuable contributions.

This conviction led him to include the Ghanaian legend in the squad for the tournament, recognising Gyan’s experience and potential impact, even if not as the team’s captain.

“The reason why I took Gyan to the competition was because Gyan had helped the nation for a period of time and I said if you are not injured, no matter what, I will take you to the tournament and I want you to finish on that note,” Kwesi Appiah shared.

Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, Asamoah Gyan, has praised former President John Dramani Mahama for his efforts in the search for the late Ghanaian musician Castro, who went missing in 2014.

Nine years ago, Gyan, Castro, and other friends visited Ada for recreation, but a tragic incident occurred. Castro and his girlfriend, Jennifer Bandu, mysteriously disappeared on the Ada River while jet skiing.

As news of Castro’s disappearance gripped the nation on July 6, 2014, Gyan and his friends mobilized efforts to rescue the late musician.

Recalling a poignant moment, Gyan mentioned that former President John Dramani Mahama dispatched helicopters to Ada to assist in the search for Castro.

“One thing I remember during 2014 when my friend’s incident happened. I called him on the phone and he asked me what he could do to help and I told him anything he could do,” Asamoah Gyan noted.

He added, “I remember within less than an hour there were like 10 helicopters at Ada.”

“He was the seating president who normally talks to me on the phone when he was in power and I always appreciate what he did for me when he was in power.”

  • Asamoah Gyan ordered to pay GHC1m to journalist for malicious prosecution after 8-year legal battle

Asamoah Gyan ordered to pay GHC1m to journalist for malicious prosecution after 8-year legal battle

The High Court has ruled in favor of Ghanaian journalist Osarfo Anthony in his lawsuit against Asamoah Gyan, a former Black Stars captain.

As a result, Gyan has been ordered to pay GhC1,000,000 to Osarfo Anthony.

Osarfo Anthony was accused of conspiracy to extort money from Asamoah Gyan and his manager Samuel Anim Addo in 2015. After nearly four years of prosecution, Osarfo was acquitted and discharged on March 20, 2019.

Following his acquittal, Osarfo Anthony filed a lawsuit for malicious prosecution against Asamoah Gyan and his manager. The court, in its ruling, awarded Osarfo Anthony one million Ghana cedis as general damages, legal fees, and any other costs deemed appropriate.

”I just won my GHC1m malicious prosecution suit against former Ghana Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, and his manager. It is been a gutsy-8-year criminal and civil legal battle. Time vindicates me, so here I am.”

“It’s a pyrrhic victory, but there’s nothing nobler than facing your accuser mano-a-mano, clearing your name, and compensation ruled in your favour for damages suffered.

“With malice, they sullied my image with unfettered, ill-themed allegations – and subjected me to public animus. In the end…there’s no harvest justification. To all who have in one way or the other been accused falsely before, you can relate, let’s ride on the crest of a new wave together,” Osarfo told the media after his victory.

The ruling by His Lordship Justice Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaa at the Financial Court 1 of the High Court in favor of journalist Osarfo Anthony in the malicious prosecution lawsuit against Asamoah Gyan was delivered at 10:00 AM. Osarfo Anthony was represented by Yaw Dankwah, Esq. of Dankwah and Associates (Divine Chambers), while Alexander Abredu Somuah-Asamoah, Esq. of Appiade Chambers represented Asamoah Gyan and his manager.

    Background

In June 2015, the Daily Guide newspaper broke a story claiming that a woman named Sarah Kwabla had accused former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, of rape and sodomy. The story gained widespread attention but was published without Sarah Kwabla’s side of the story.

Sarah Kwabla then contacted Osarfo Anthony, providing graphic photos of injuries, WhatsApp chats with Gyan, and an audio clip where Gyan allegedly appealed to her not to share any evidence publicly.

Osarfo sought Gyan’s side through his lawyer, who denied the allegations, asserting that the encounter was consensual. GHBase.com, the blog Osarfo worked for, published a series of stories covering the rape and sodomy allegations with a balanced perspective.

In response to the coverage of the rape and sodomy allegations, Nii Armah Amarteifio, a handler in Gyan’s camp, contacted the editor/publisher of GHBase.com.

Acting on Gyan’s manager’s instructions, Nii pleaded for the removal of the stories and assured financial compensation for their cooperation.

Unbeknownst to Osarfo and GHBase.com, the Gyans reported them to the police, alleging an attempt to extort money from Asamoah Gyan. Osarfo was subsequently arrested by the police after receiving funds on behalf of the publisher.

“Preach on” – Asamoah Gyan responds to Prophet’s sermon about himself and his brother Baffour

The esteemed Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, has embraced a sermon delivered by Prophet Johnson Adu Boahen, extolling the virtues of Gyan’s elder brother, Baffour Gyan.

In the widely circulated sermon across various social media platforms, Prophet Adu Boahen expressed profound admiration for Baffour Gyan, acknowledging his instrumental role in Asamoah Gyan’s illustrious football career.

The prophet commended Baffour Gyan for his humility, highlighting that despite being the elder sibling and having his own career in professional football, he graciously stepped back to allow Asamoah Gyan to shine when it became evident that his younger brother possessed the talent and charisma for a more successful football journey.

The sermon emphasized that Asamoah Gyan’s remarkable success, including becoming the highest scorer in the history of the Black Stars, was made possible by the unwavering support provided by Baffour Gyan.

Prophet Adu Boahen underscored the crucial role of Baffour’s selfless support in shaping Asamoah Gyan’s trajectory in the world of football.

The prophet went on to describe Baffour Gyan’s admirable character as something almost unreal, noting that in a culture where many elder siblings might prefer to be the face of the family’s success, Baffour chose a path of support, enabling his younger and more talented brother to take the forefront in their shared journey of achievement.

“One person I really respect in this country is Asamoah Gyan’s elder brother, Baffour. I respect him so much because he’s not greedy. Even though he is older than Asamoah Gyan, he has been very supportive of him. Once he realized that Asamoah Gyan could become the next big thing in Ghana football, he retired and supported him.

“Both of them are married but they enjoy a great relationship because Baffour is not greedy and selfish. In today’s Ghana once an older sibling sees the younger one making progress, then he or she starts to pull strings to bring him or her down. The little mistake you make, your own sibling will poison you.

Baffour Gyan doesn’t shy from doing the little things to enable his brother to succeed. He takes pride in supporting his brother and sometimes even serves as a bodyguard to protect his brother. Every family has someone destined to be the star so when you see that just support him or her to succeed because there’s nothing you can do to bring him or her down,” he said.

Asamoah Gyan, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, reacted to the video, stating, “Preach on.”

Gyan has never hidden his respect and admiration for his elder brother, who he perceives to be his ‘second god.”

“We all serve the living God but I will say he is my second god because he has done everything for me.” Those were the exact words Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan used in describing the influence of his brother Baffour Gyan on his career. “We all serve the living God but I will say he is my second god because he has done everything for me,” the former Sunderland player told Max TV.

“The mistakes he made in life, he made sure I didn’t go through them. He is like a guardian angel till now.” He added.

Detailing the impact and influence of his brother on his career, Asamoah recalled that it was Baffour’s advice that succeeded in making him decide on schooling in Accra, although he had different plans.

“He went to Adisadel College and I wanted to follow in his footsteps when I completed JHS. I had to choose Adisadel College, so I chose all the Cape Coast schools,” Baby Jet said.

Asamoah Gyan allegedly broke his wife’s virginity – Court

Asamoah Gyan and his wife, Gifty Gyan, have recently been in the headlines due to the court annulment of their marriage.

According to earlier reports, Gifty was already married before meeting the former Black Stars Captain, meaning her union with the footballer was never officially recognized.

In a surprising turn of events, it has been revealed that Gifty was actually a virgin when she first entered into a relationship with Asamoah Gyan.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that Asamoah Gyan was the one who broke Gifty’s virginity in 2004, leading to the birth of their first child.

This revelation comes as a shock to many, especially considering that when news of their annulment became public, Baffoe Gyan, Asamoah Gyan’s older brother, stated that Gifty’s first husband claimed to be the father of her eldest son.

The court in its judgment noted that when Gifty “first had sexual relations with the Petitioner (Asamoah) in 2004, she was a virgin a fact which establishes that…” there was in fact no consummation between herself and her first “husband” she married for Europe papers.

Gifty’s claim that she was a virgin when she had her first sex with the Asamoah in 2004 was not refuted, the court stated, “thereby leading to an admission of same.”

Following the entire procedure, Gifty was granted a portion of Asamoah Gyan’s property by the court, which was presided over by Hafisata Ameleboba JA, on the grounds of her significant contribution.

Been over a decade already, and ‘everything is in place’ – Asamoah Gyan remembers mother

Asamoah Gyan continues to hold a special place in his heart for his late mother, even 12 years after her tragic passing.

The former Black Stars captain lost his mother in November 2012 in a tragic car accident.

Madam Cecilia Amoako’s car collided with a pillar at the Teachers’ Hall in Accra, and despite efforts to save her, she was sadly pronounced dead at the Ridge Hospital.

This incident was particularly devastating for Gyan, who was playing for Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the time.

In remembrance of his mother, Gyan recently took to Instagram to mark the anniversary of her passing, emphasizing that she will forever hold a special place in his heart.

“You left us exactly this day (6th November) with a broken heart. I always prayed that you should guide me wherever you are,” he wrote.

“Now everything has fallen in place exactly around this time. You have really answered my prayers. Wooooow, thank you soo much mum. You will forever be in our hearts.”

Meanwhile, Gyan has opened up on whether he’ll re-marry following the annulment of his marriage to Gifty Gyan.

Asamoah Gyan shy away from re-marriage, says he wants to focus on his children

Legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has shifted his attention to the well-being of his children following the successful annulment of his marriage with their mother, Gifty.

Speaking on Asempa FM in response to the Accra High Court’s judgment on October 31, 2023, Asamoah Gyan expressed his primary commitment to responsible parenting.

He also conveyed his contentment with the court’s decision, expressing his satisfaction.

“The reason why we went to court was that I annulled the marriage and my wish has been granted because the things I unravelled were the truth,” he told Asempa FM, as quoted by the Daily Graphic.

He further stated that his children were “the most important thing. I am very, very happy with my life; I am a family man; my children like and love me; and I also love and like all of them, so that is where my focus is.”

Meanwhile, Edwin Kusi Appiah, the legal counsel representing Asamoah Gyan, has revealed the specific statement that prompted Asamoah Gyan to pursue the annulment of his marriage.

During an interview with Kofi TV, Kusi Appiah disclosed that Gyan had been subjected to threats from the spouse of his now-former wife, casting doubts on the paternity of their three children.

The breaking point that led to the discord and the subsequent decision to annul the marriage was an alleged threat by Gifty Oware’s husband. The threat revolved around their eldest child, born in 2005, with the husband disputing Gyan’s paternity.

In response to this statement, Asamoah Gyan gathered evidence and initiated the annulment proceedings.

Asamoah Gyan married his wife in 2013 but had been with her since 2003. He got information that, prior to marrying her, the lady had married another man. Their marriage had three kids, with the firstborn coming in 2005.

“Asamoah Gyan told me he was threatened by someone who said that the children, particularly the firstborn, were not his and that they belonged to him (the person issuing the threat).

Gyan was indeed the father of the children, and his happiness stemmed from his genuine love for them.

This deep affection for the children was the primary motivation behind Asamoah Gyan’s decision to pursue legal action.

Lawyer Kusi Appiah also emphasized that Gyan’s love for the children remained unwavering, and he expressed contentment with the court’s ruling.

In a recent interview, Gyan explained that the decision to propose and marry his ex-wife was his own choice.

He emphasized his commitment to being a family man and providing for his children, expressing his desire to avoid unnecessary conflicts in light of the court’s annulment of his marriage.

”I don’t regret it because I chose to marry her. During our marriage, many things emerged, but I didn’t want to talk about them.

I discovered certain things that prompted me to proceed to court to annul the marriage. After five years of investigations, the court established that I was right and ended the marriage,” he said.

Asamoah Gyan makes 5 disclosures about post-marriage annulment verdict

In the aftermath of the Accra High Court ruling on his marriage annulment case, Asamoah Gyan and his legal counsel, Edwin Kusi Appiah, have embarked on a media tour to rectify what they perceive as a deliberate misinterpretation of the verdict.

On November 1, 2023, Gyan initiated his media outreach by addressing the matter in an interview with Asempa FM, where he cautioned his former spouse to rein in individuals who have been distorting the narrative. Additionally, Gyan has been actively using social media to respond to comments that he believes misrepresent the actual events.

Simultaneously, his attorney has been engaged in a series of media appearances, discussing the court ruling and making certain bold claims regarding the case. He has appeared on more than five media platforms to clarify the situation.

    Below are five of them:

Asamoah Gyan has spoken to his ex-wife

In his Asempa FM interview, Asamoah Gyan disclosed that he has talked to Gifty Oware and discussed the need to avoid muddying the waters.

If the attempts to distort the verdict are not addressed, Gyan stated he will be forced to come forward and reveal information.

Ex-wife presented fake parents for marriage

Attorney Edwin Kusi Appiah revealed that it was discovered during court proceedings that the individuals Gifty Oware had named as Asamoah Gyan’s parents were in fact not her parents.

This was revealed during the testimony of witnesses presented by Asamoah Gyan during the trial, which lasted three years, according to Edwin Kusi Appiah, the former striker for the Black Stars.

“When we went to court, people familiar with the woman who testified in court said that the people the woman brought to witness the marriage as her father and mother were actually not her father and mother and they are the people she introduced to Asamoah as her parents,” the lawyer said in an interview on UTV on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

    Asamoah Gyan was threatened

It has been disclosed that Asamoah Gyan was forced to take a DNA test on his three children as a result of purported threats to take the children away from him made by his ex-wife’s purported husband.

Attorney Kusi Appiah claimed that Gyan knew his wife was having an affair and that the other man was claiming his kids, especially the firstborn.

“Asamoah Gyan married his wife in 2013 but had been with her since 2003. He got information that prior to marrying her, the lady had married another man. Their marriage had three kids with the firstborn coming in 2005. Asamoah Gyan told me he was threatened by someone that the children, particularly the firstborn were not his and that they belonged to him (the person issuing the threat).

“That is what forced us to go to court and seek permission to conduct DNA on the kids. Thankfully, the DNA test proved that Gyan was the father of the children and he was really happy with it. Gyan was happy because he loved the children. That is the main reason Asamoah Gyan went to court,” he said.

    Gifty is still married

Court records state that Gifty is wed to a Ghanaian man who resides in the United Kingdom. The man goes by Mr. Oware, according to reports.

As disclosed in court, Gifty had been wed to the man since 2002, the year prior to her encounter with Asamoah Gyan.

As per the court’s decision, the marriage remains valid.

The Court Dismisses Age-Cheating Allegations in Asamoah Gyan’s Case as Passport Date Prevails

In the legal proceedings, the court rejected allegations of age-cheating put forth by Asamoah Gyan’s legal team, opting to acknowledge the date on Gifty’s passport as valid. According to Asamoah Gyan’s lawyer, even though the two documents displayed differing dates, the court chose to uphold the passport’s date.

Consequently, the court affirmed that, at the time of marrying her husband, Gifty was 17 years old, a contradiction to the age previously asserted by Asamoah Gyan.

Paternity test: Asamoah Gyan was afraid to become like Odartey Lamptey

The legal representative of the renowned Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, Edwin Kusi Appiah, has revealed the pivotal statement that prompted his client to initiate divorce annulment proceedings.

In an interview with Kofi TV, Kusi Appiah disclosed that Gyan had been receiving threats from the husband of his now former spouse, suggesting that his three children were not biologically related to him.

The statement that shattered the peace and triggered discord in Gyan’s marriage, ultimately leading to the decision to seek an annulment, was an alleged threat made by the husband of Gifty Oware. This threat revolved around their firstborn child, who, as per Edwin Kusi Appiah, was born in 2005 and was claimed not to be Gyan’s biological child.

Consequently, upon learning of this statement, Asamoah Gyan collected evidence and initiated legal proceedings to annul the marriage.

Asamoah Gyan married his wife in 2013 but had been with her since 2003.

In 2019, former national youth star, Nii Odartey Lamptey disclosed that he felt unbearable pain after a DNA test confirmed rumors that three children he raised with his ex-wife for 21 years were not his biological children.

According to Lawyer Kusi Appiah, Asamoah Gyan holds deep affection for the children and is content with the court’s decision.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Kusi Appiah further clarified that Asamoah Gyan initiated the paternity tests because of persistent pressure from Gifty Oware’s former husband, identified as Mr. Oware. Mr. Oware, who resides in the UK, repeatedly asserted that Gifty Oware bore the children during her marriage to him, raising doubts about their paternity and prompting the need for the tests.

“When the DNA test proved that all kids were his, Asamoah Gyan was extremely happy. He was happy because he had been challenged by someone that his wife wasn’t his and that at the time they married, the wife was also married to another person. The person even told Asamoah Gyan that he suspects some of the children were his.

“The right thing for Gyan to have done was to make sure that he conducted a DNA test to prove the paternity of the children. When people were criticizing Gyan for being irresponsible, he was jubilating because he had been vindicated.”

In a verdict delivered by the Accra High Court on October 31, 2023, the prolonged divorce case of former Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan concluded. The court ruled to terminate the marriage that was entered into by Gyan and Gifty in 2013.

As part of the court’s judgment, determinations were made regarding the parentage of the three children of the couple. Gyan had previously contested his paternity, leading to a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test, which ultimately confirmed his biological relationship with the children.

Dennis Law, wrote of the paternity issue in their report: “Initially, Asamoah Gyan had denied paternity of their three children, seeking an annulment of their marriage. However, the court, in its decision on October 31, 2023, established that the three children are indeed the progeny of Asamoah Gyan.”

Other consequential directions relative to the upkeep of the kids after the dissolution of the marriage included that “Asamoah Gyan is obligated to pay Gifty Gyan a monthly sum of 25,000 Ghana cedis.

“This stipend is allocated for the upbringing and welfare of the three children, excluding expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and various other childcare-related costs,” the law firm added.

The legal representative of the renowned Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, Edwin Kusi Appiah, has debunked claims that his client does not want to have anything to do with his children with ex-wife, Gifty.

When people were criticizing Gyan for being irresponsible, he was jubilating because he had been vindicated,” he said.

In February 2019, news broke that Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, had initiated a DNA test for all three children born during his relationship with Gifty Gyan, now known as Gifty Oware.

The news quickly spread across various media outlets, sparking discussions and criticisms from many Ghanaians who saw Gyan’s actions as doubting his wife and seeking to annul their marriage.

When the DNA test results conducted at Medilab were released, it confirmed that Asamoah Gyan was indeed the biological father of all three children.

Four years after the DNA test, and following the Accra High Court’s ruling on the marriage annulment case, lawyer Kusi Appiah, representing Asamoah Gyan, has revealed the reasons behind his client’s decision to request the DNA tests.

In an interview with Asempa FM, lawyer Kusi Appiah explained that Asamoah Gyan ordered the DNA tests due to pressure from Mr. Oware, the husband of his ex-wife, Gifty Appiah.

Mr. Oware, who resides in the UK, had repeatedly insisted that Gifty gave birth to the children during her marriage to Asamoah Gyan. Per reports, he expressed doubts about the children’s paternity and threatened to deny Gyan access to them based on his belief that he was their biological father.

“When the DNA test proved that all kids were his, Asamoah Gyan was extremely happy. He was happy because he had been challenged by someone that his wife wasn’t his and that at the time they married, the wife was also married to another person. On October 31, 2023, an Accra High Court issued its verdict in the protracted three-year divorce case.

The court ruled in favor of dissolving the marriage, which was initially contracted in 2013 between Gyan and Gifty. As part of the divorce proceedings, the court also made determinations regarding the paternity of the three children born to the couple.

Gyan had previously contested his paternity of the children, leading the court to order a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test to establish their parentage. The DNA test results conclusively confirmed that Gyan was indeed the father of the children.

Dennis Law, wrote of the paternity issue in their report: “Initially, Asamoah Gyan had denied paternity of their three children, seeking an annulment of their marriage. LIST: The ‘lavish’ demands Gifty Gyan reportedly made in court

The divorce case between Asamoah Gyan, the former Black Stars captain, and his ex-wife Gifty, has come to a close, with a judgment delivered by an Accra High Court on October 31, 2023.

The court officially ended the marriage, which began in 2013, issuing orders concerning the paternity and custody of the couple’s three children, as well as division of their landed and vehicular properties.

Gyan, reacting publicly for the first time to the court’s decision, stated on a Twitter (now X) post, “I have taken the outcome maturely and have ultimately retained a large chunk of my wealth.”

What Gifty asked for and what she received

    Demands That Were Rejected:

    • Gifty Gyan had initially sought an alimony payment of US$1 million. The court rejected this demand.
    • She also aimed for a share of Asamoah Gyan‘s stake in several businesses. The court, however, stated that she failed to prove that Gyan had a stake in these businesses, and therefore rejected this request.
    • Gifty Gyan wanted a share of properties known as an East Legon mansion and Baby Jet Heights. These too were dismissed by the court, stating they were not spousal properties.
    • Finally, her request for costs and legal fees was also not granted.

    What She Was Granted:

Contrary to her earlier demands, what Gifty Gyan was granted was considerably less, but still notable:

    a. A mansion located in the UK owned by Asamoah Gyan b. A four-bedroom house at Spintex in Accra c. Ownership of land intended for a fuelling station in Prampram d. Two vehicles: a BMW and an Infiniti

As the dust settles on this high-profile divorce, both parties appear to be taking steps to move on with their lives. While the court has made its orders clear, the scrutiny surrounding this case will likely continue to be a topic of public conversation for some time.

The High Court (Divorce and Matrimonial Division) in Accra, Ghana, has brought to a close the 10-year marriage between Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan and his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan. Presiding over the case was Honourable Judge Hafisata Ameleboba JA.

The divorce proceedings were concluded on October 31, 2023. In addition to dissolving the marriage that began in 2013, the court issued rulings concerning the custody of the couple’s three children, as well as decisions on landed and vehicular properties for Gifty Gyan.

Asamoah Gyan, former captain of the Black Stars, reacted publicly for the first time since the court’s ruling. In a post on the social media platform Twitter (now known as X), Gyan stated that he had ultimately won the case contrary to earlier reports.

Gifty Gyan according to dennislawnews.com, had reportedly filed a cross-petition in February 2019 in which she sought a monthly maintenance fee of £5,000 and a lump sum of $1 million USD from Asamoah Gyan.

Additionally, she petitioned for a 50% share in several properties and businesses owned by her ex-husband. Among these were multiple houses, a printing press in Dubai, a warehouse, and a range of luxury vehicles. She also requested a 50% stake in business entities such as Baby Jet Airlines, Jetlink Events and Logistics, Gyan Investment Ghana Limited, Paradise Pac Drinking Water, Baby Jet Boxing Promotions, and BJ Sports Bar and Restaurant.

Contrary to what she initially sought, the court reportedly granted her the ownership of Asamoah Gyan’s UK mansion, a four-bedroom house at Spintex in Accra, and land meant for a fuelling station in Prampram. She was also awarded two cars—a BMW and an Infiniti. However, Gifty Gyan’s request for alimony of $1 million was rejected, as was her claim to a share of Asamoah Gyan’s stake in several businesses. The court stated that Gifty Gyan failed to prove her ex-husband’s stake in these businesses. Additionally, her requests for legal fees and costs were dismissed.

The court ordered that a monthly maintenance fee of GHC 25,000 be given to Gifty Gyan for the upbringing of their children.

The Honourable Court noted Gifty Gyan’s “substantial contribution to the acquisition of the properties” in its ruling. This contributed to the court’s decision to grant her certain properties and assets.

Baffour Gyan tells journey of Asamoah Gyan’s success in legal battle against his wife

Former Ghana international Baffour Gyan has given a detailed explanation of why his brother Asamoah Gyan won his legal tussle with his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan.

The legal battle between Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan, involving issues related to properties and their annulled marriage, has been resolved by the Accra High Court.

The court annulled the marriage based on Asamoah Gyan’s petition and other pieces of evidence presented during the case.

The court deemed Gifty’s early marriage in 2002 at the age of 17 as insufficient grounds for declaring the marriage void, upholding its validity.

However, as compensation to Gifty Gyan, the court awarded her a UK property, a gas station in Prampram, a 4-bedroom house in Spintex, which was purchased for her before their marriage in 2013, and two cars.

Additionally, a monthly maintenance fee of GH¢25,000 was granted to Gifty, while the request for alimony was denied.

Setting the record straight on Asempa FM, Baffour Gyan clarified that there was a misconception about the legal verdict.

He highlighted that it was Gifty who had been previously married, and Asamoah Gyan had initiated the case to annul that marriage.

The court’s ruling revealed that Gifty had deceived Asamoah Gyan.

Explaining why Asamoah Gyan was rather the victor, Baffour said, “My brother’s wife had already been married and he sent it to the court to annul it. We received the ruling to the effect that the lady deceived my brother.”

Baffour Gyan underscored that the properties in Gifty’s possession had originally been gifts from Asamoah Gyan, and the court affirmed her entitlement to retain them.

Additionally, he pointed out that Gifty’s legal representatives had initially sought a sum exceeding $1 million, but the court dismissed their demand.

“The properties in the lady’s possessions were gifts from Asamoah Gyan and the court asked that she keep it. Her lawyers had wanted $ 1 million and more but the court denied their request.”

He added, “Asamoah Gyan has been in contact with his children throughout this case and has been taking care of them so the GH¢25,000 a month in support for the children is no news.”

‘Code 10-2points decoded’ – Asamoah Gyan reacts to divorce verdict by Accra High Court

Renowned Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, has shared his thoughts on the recent Accra High Court ruling regarding his prolonged marriage annulment case with his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan, now known as Gifty Oware.

In a Twitter post, Asamoah Gyan suggested that while his ex-wife was granted some of her requests, he also retained possession of some of his properties.

Gyan, in a reply to a post by a blogger, stated, “If I have 10pts and I keep quiet cos I’m matured, and you have 2 pts and you going find public sympathy, then it’s cool. You are very funny. This is deep so think about it”, Gyan tweeted.

On October 31, 2023, an Accra High Court issued a verdict in a lengthy three-year divorce dispute involving former Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan.

The court ruled to dissolve the marriage, which had been established in 2013, between Gyan and Gifty. Additionally, the court provided instructions concerning the paternity of the three children born to the couple.

Gyan had previously contested his paternity, necessitating a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test, the results of which confirmed his biological relationship with the children.

In connection with the dissolution of the marriage, further directives pertaining to the support of the children stipulate that Asamoah Gyan is required to provide a monthly payment of 25,000 Ghana cedis to Gifty Gyan.

“This stipend is allocated for the upbringing and welfare of the three children, excluding expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and various other childcare-related costs,” the law firm added.

Details of what Asamoah Gyan reportedly told his ex-wife after the court ruling

Legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has disclosed details of a conversation he had with his ex-wife, Gifty Oware, after the High Court ruling on their marriage annulment on October 31, 2023.

Gyan revealed that the talk was prompted by attempts by some individuals to manipulate the public’s perception of the case’s outcome.

Speaking on Asempa FM on November 1, 2023, Gyan emphasised the importance of maintaining privacy over their marital issues, however, “I spoke to Gifty that because of what is going on, I would come out and defend myself. I spoke to her and told her point blank that I have kept quiet on the issue and allowed all kinds of false narrative about me,” he said.

While Gyan did not accuse his ex-wife of leaking the ruling to the media, he did issue a warning to those close to her. “I’m talking today because I have already warned her,” he added.

Gyan felt vindicated by the court’s decision, which he believes affirmed his stance that the marriage was null and void. “I have been vindicated because the court has ruled in favour of me and what I wished, they granted it,” he said.

The Accra High Court’s ruling on October 31 brought an end to a three-year divorce battle between the former Ghana international and Gifty. The court dissolved the marriage, originally contracted in 2013, and issued consequential directions regarding the couple’s three children.

Previously, Gyan had denied paternity, prompting the court to administer a DNA test. The test proved him to be the father.

The law firm handling the case, Dennis Law, stated, “Initially, Asamoah Gyan had denied paternity of their three children, seeking an annulment of their marriage. However, the court, in its decision on October 31, 2023, established that the three children are indeed the progeny of Asamoah Gyan.”

The court also outlined financial responsibilities for the upkeep of the children post-divorce. “Asamoah Gyan is obligated to pay Gifty Gyan a monthly sum of 25,000 Ghana cedis,” noted the law firm. This sum is specifically designated for the children’s upbringing and welfare, and does not cover other expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and other childcare-related costs.

Asamoah Gyan’s disclosure comes at a crucial time as both parties aim to move forward following the public and legal scrutiny of their marriage. The footballer’s statements suggest a willingness to defend his reputation, even as he emphasises the importance of privacy for the sake of their children.

Baffour Gyan, the brother of former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, has reportedly commented on the discourse surrounding the annulment of the ex-footballer’s marriage to his former wife.

This development follows the Accra High Court’s ruling on the legal dispute between Asamoah Gyan and his ex-partner, Gifty Gyan. Baffour Gyan has characterized the annulment as a victory, as it aligned with Asamoah Gyan’s petition for the court to invalidate the marriage.

Baffour has also emphasized that the court’s decision confirmed through a DNA test that Asamoah Gyan is the biological father of all three of Gifty Gyan’s children.

He added that the court, presided over by Hafisata Ameleboba JA, determined that Gifty is entitled to a portion of Asamoah Gyan’s assets, which include a house in the United Kingdom, a four-bedroom house in Spintex, Accra, a gas station, and two vehicles.

However, Baffour clarified that these properties were already registered in her name prior to their marriage in 2013.

In an audio recording purported to feature Baffour Gyan, the former Ghanaian professional footballer asserted that all the assets transferred to Gifty Gyan had already been in her name.

”It’s our victory … the court ordered Asamoah Gyan to give the property already in Gifty’s name. No new property were added,” says Baffour Gyan.

The legal representative for Asamoah Gyan, Edwin Kusi-Appiah, has disputed the claims that the court ordered his client to transfer a fuel station, two cars, a house in London, and other assets to his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan.

On October 31, 2023, social media circulated information that Gyan had been instructed by the court to provide Gifty with a monthly stipend of GHȼ25,000 for the care and well-being of their three children.

However, Kusi-Appiah clarified that Gyan emerged victorious in the legal proceedings and asserted that the mentioned properties were already in Gifty’s name.

According to him, Gyan had sought to nullify his marriage to Gifty due to her pre-existing marriage, which was discovered after their union and rendered their marriage invalid.

“Gyan went to the court with the petition for annulment of his marriage because his wife whom he married in 2013 was married to another person which was not known to him.

“The wife on the other hand argued that the case brought was not true and that the stipulated marriage was a marriage of convenience and asked the court to dissolve the marriage and not annul it. She also asked the court to give her more than six houses, several cars and other things which the court did not grant.”

Mr. Kusi-Appiah added that the court confirmed that Gifty was indeed married before her union with Gyan and proceeded to annul it.

However, there was no specific clarification regarding the alleged monthly stipend of GHȼ25,000 intended for the care and support of the three children Gyan shares with his ex-wife, Gifty.

The divorce proceedings involving the former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, and his ex-wife Gifty, reached a conclusion in an Accra High Court on October 31, 2023.

The court officially dissolved their marriage, which had been established in 2013, and issued rulings regarding the paternity and custody of their three children, as well as the distribution of landed and vehicular properties concerning Gifty.

In his initial public response to the case’s resolution, Gyan conveyed through a tweet that he had approached the outcome with maturity and that he had successfully retained a significant portion of his wealth.

Gifty Gyan’s major relief requests and the court’s decisions are as follows:

    Reliefs Rejected:

    1. Alimony of US$1 million: The court rejected this request. Alimony is financial support provided to a spouse during separation or following a divorce.
    2. Share of Asamoah Gyan’s stake in various businesses: The court held that Gifty Gyan failed to prove Asamoah Gyan’s ownership in these businesses.
    3. Share of an East Legon mansion and Baby Jet Heights property: The court ruled that these properties were not considered spousal properties.
    4. Cost and legal fees: This request was also dismissed.

    Reliefs Granted:

    1. Landed property: Gifty Gyan will receive ownership of Asamoah Gyan’s UK mansion.
    2. Four-bedroom house at Spintex in Accra: This property is awarded to Gifty.
    3. Ownership of land designated for a fuelling station in Prampram: The court granted Gifty this property.
    4. Vehicles: Gifty Gyan is given a BMW and an Infiniti.

Court confirms Asamoah Gyan is father of 3 children with ex-wife

An Accra court handling the case involving Asamoah Gyan and his ex-wife Gifty Gyan has ruled in favor of the ex-wife, confirming that the three children between the former couple belong to Asamoah Gyan. The court has also awarded substantial costs in favor of Gifty Gyan.

This decision comes after a lengthy three-year legal battle during which Asamoah Gyan denied being the father of their three children and sought to annul their marriage. However, on October 31, 2023, the court ruled that the three children indeed belong to Asamoah Gyan.

As part of the court’s ruling, Asamoah Gyan has been ordered to pay Gifty Gyan GHS25,000 per month for the upkeep of the three children, excluding school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and other child care expenses.

Furthermore, the court has awarded several properties to Gifty Gyan, including Asamoah Gyan’s mansion in the United Kingdom, a 4-bedroom house located at Spintex in Accra, and two luxury vehicles (a BMW and an Infiniti) owned by the football star. Additionally, a parcel of executive land acquired by Asamoah Gyan for a filling station has been awarded to Gifty Gyan.

Regarding the marriage between the two, the court annulled the marriage based on a technicality presented by Asamoah Gyan’s lawyers. They argued that Gifty Gyan was already married to someone else before marrying Asamoah Gyan, rendering her marriage to Asamoah Gyan null and void.

The court’s ruling acknowledged that, at the time of the supposed “first marriage” by Gifty Gyan, she was clearly a minor and couldn’t legally enter into a marriage. Nevertheless, the court annulled the marriage between Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan while confirming that the children, whose paternity was disputed by Asamoah Gyan, are indeed his, as confirmed by court-sanctioned DNA tests. Asamoah Gyan’s claims of infidelity were dismissed by the court.

GHC25K every month, UK and Spintex houses, cars awarded to Asamoah Gyan’s wife in divorce settlement

In a highly-anticipated legal battle that has stretched over three years, the Accra Court has issued its long-awaited verdict in the case involving Asamoah Gyan, a prominent Ghanaian footballer, and his former spouse, Gifty Gyan. The court’s decision, announced on October 31, 2023, marks a significant milestone in this high-profile dispute.

The core of the legal clash centered on Asamoah Gyan’s initial denial of paternity for the three children he shared with Gifty Gyan, along with his pursuit of an annulment of their marital union. The court’s judgment has firmly sided with Gifty Gyan.

The key outcomes of the court’s decision are as follows:

Paternity Confirmed: The court definitively established that the three children in question are indeed the biological offspring of Asamoah Gyan, settling the protracted paternity dispute.

Monthly Maintenance Payment: In accordance with the verdict, Asamoah Gyan has been directed to provide Gifty Gyan with financial support, amounting to GHS25,000 monthly, for the upbringing of their children. Notably, this financial support does not encompass supplementary expenses, such as school fees, medical and dental care, and the cost of flight tickets for the children.

Property Compensation: As part of the court’s ruling, Gifty Gyan has been awarded ownership of Asamoah Gyan’s Mansion located in the United Kingdom and a four-bedroom house situated in Spintex, Accra, as compensation.

Vehicle Transfer: The court has ordered the transfer of two vehicles, a Luxury BMW and an Infiniti, which were previously owned by Asamoah Gyan, to Gifty Gyan.

Land Award: Furthermore, Gifty Gyan has been granted ownership of a substantial parcel of executive land, originally acquired by Asamoah Gyan for the establishment of a filling station.

Marriage Annulment: The court’s decision includes the annulment of the marriage between Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan, based on a legal technicality brought forward by Asamoah Gyan’s legal team. They argued that Gifty Gyan had been previously married for visa purposes before her union with Asamoah Gyan.

“Marriage of Convenience”: It was revealed in court that in 2002, Asamoah Gyan had consented to a “marriage of convenience” to facilitate Gifty Gyan’s visa application to the United Kingdom for medical treatment. At the time, Asamoah Gyan was facing financial difficulties, which led to this arrangement. Gifty Gyan had entered into this marriage with her London-based relative for visa purposes.

Minor Marriage: The court acknowledged that Gifty Gyan’s prior “marriage of convenience” had occurred when she was a minor, rendering it legally void. Nevertheless, the court proceeded to annul the marriage between Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan while assigning properties to Gifty Gyan.

Children’s Paternity: The court’s ruling firmly confirmed that, despite the annulment of the marriage, the children initially contested by Asamoah Gyan are indeed his biological offspring, as substantiated by a court-ordered DNA test. This decisively dismissed Asamoah Gyan’s allegations of infidelity and paternity issues.

Disrespectful Kevin-Prince Boateng was sacked by Kwesi Appiah not the President – Asamoah Gyan

Former Ghanaian international footballer Asamoah Gyan has shed light on the events leading to the ousting of Kevin-Prince Boateng from the Ghana national team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Gyan disclosed that Boateng’s expulsion from the team was the result of multiple incidents where Boateng openly disrespected the team’s coach, Kwesi Appiah.

Kevin-Prince Boateng, who had played a pivotal role in Ghana’s 2010 World Cup campaign in South Africa, was recalled to the national team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, tensions arose during the group stage of the tournament, ultimately leading to his exclusion.

Gyan revealed in a recent interview that the final straw occurred during a training session when Boateng openly clashed with Coach Kwesi Appiah, disrespecting him with his choice of words. The incident unfolded in front of the entire team, leaving the coach with no choice but to take action.

Gyan clarified that while the players had defended Boateng behind the scenes on previous occasions, Boateng’s repeated instances of disrespecting the coach had reached a breaking point. It was this series of incidents that led to the coach’s decision to remove Boateng from the squad.

The captain of the Ghana national team during that tournament emphasized that Boateng’s expulsion was ultimately a result of the coach’s call, as he felt that Boateng’s behavior had crossed the line.

Gyan’s revelations provide additional context to the situation and shed light on the dynamics within the team during the 2014 World Cup. The clash between Boateng and Coach Appiah on the training ground marked a turning point that resulted in Boateng’s abrupt expulsion from the squad.

Gyan’s future plans remain uncertain, although he has been involved in football punditry and holds a UEFA B coaching license, although he has not yet taken up any coaching roles.

In the viral video, it appears that the two are about to get each other’s throats, but deeper analysis shows it is a façade.

Freezy Macbones born Seth Gyimah arrived in Ghana on Wednesday, August 15, in response to a call from the Ghana Boxing Federation.

Since his arrival in Ghana, Macbones has been training with the Black Bombers team as they intensify their preparations for the upcoming Olympic Boxing Qualifiers scheduled for Saturday, September 9 to Saturday, September 15, 2023, in Dakar, Senegal.

In his second professional fight in April, as part of the undercard for the Joe Joyce vs. Zhilei Zhang bout at London’s Copper Box Arena, MacBones exhibited complete dominance over his opponent, veteran Darryl Sharp.
