In an interview with Brut Afrique, Davido made the assertion that he and Wizkid were the artistes who gave the Afrobeats genre a facelift.
He said, “I was one of the first—me and Wizkid—to blow it up, and it feels good. You know what I am saying”.
Davido was also glad to see the likes of Asake, Fireboy, and Burna Boy, whom he referred to as the ‘new cats’ doing well with the Afrobeat sound, which he believes will continue to project the genre to a higher height.
“It feels good to also see the new cats coming up, you know what I am saying, like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, who else; Mayorkun, Asake, you know, a lot of new cats coming in, killing it. So yeah, I think the future of Afrobeats is in good hands”, he said.
His comment has sparked reactions from some netizens, and these are some of their comments:
“Burnaboy did not blow up BIG until 2018. He’s been signing way before that. He had great tracks. He was not even top 6 in Nigeria. Tems & Rema blew up 2019. They’ve been singing way before that. Wiskid & Davido blew up over a decade”.
“Davido and Wizkid brought the current fire in Afrobeat way back but many of Burna Boy fans or many of young Kids now were properly in Nursery or primary school then! That’s why they got provoked by Davido’s recent honest interview!!
“Wizkid and I were the first young artistes to blow up and it feels good seeing new cats like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun and Asake kllling it now”

The statement did not sit well with many social media users as it sparked mixed reactions.
The fact that Davido and Burna Boy both came out in 2012 led some to believe that Davido shouldn’t have referred to Burna Boy as a “new cat” and shouldn’t have also compared him to artistes like Rema and Asake.
Others, on the other hand, agreed with Davido and said Burna Boy wasn’t on the same level as Wizkid and Davido, but they also said Davido should have added Olamide to the list of young artistes that broke through.

“When Sophia gave birth to Imade, have you all forgotten the humiliation labelled against her by Davido. Sophia has every right to vent her anger, get mad at Davido. Its not about she wanting Davido, she’s a beautiful lady, she can get married to any man she wants, even richer or better than Davido. Its not wrong for a woman to love a man, hence the love is not yielding any fruit. David should apoogise to Sophia, not because he still wants her.”

Days before Davido’s Timeless concert, Chiefpriest ceased publicizing it on his Instagram, and the two parties subsequently stopped following one another.
Unexpectedly, Chiefpriest also skipped the Sunday night Timeless concert which was held in Lagos.
The flamboyant socialite uploaded videos of his night out with friends to his Instagram Story channel.
Kemi Olunloyo commented on the supposed split on Instagram and claimed that Chiefpriest leaked information about Davido’s second baby mama, Amanda, being pregnant in Atlanta for the superstar.
According to Kemi, Davido and his wife Chioma were separated before the singer had an encounter with his second baby mama again.
Additionally, she urged fans to counsel Chioma on how to handle the surprising change of events.
She wrote: Davido and Cubana chief priest will be ok. They are reportedly beefing because Pasquale allegedly leaked Hermaidne’s pregnancy but Davido and Chioma were separated when Belle happened. What advice do you have for Chioma?

Halfway through his performance, Davido threw his vest in the crowd and a young man was fortunate enough to grab it.
The man in question was among the many fans who were captured on social media, fighting for the vest.
After claiming it, he established that since the singlet smells like Davido, he would never wash it.
He remarked that the thrill he felt after receiving the singlet was unlike any other joy he had ever had.
The other guests approached the ‘lucky man’ and pleaded with him to show them his grace, calling him the luckiest man of the day.
Afrobeats singer, Davido, has said that selecting songs for his Timeless album was the hardest thing ever.
Speaking on his album released on March 31, Davido noted that he had to narrow down the songs to about 20 out of 62, before finally settling on 17 songs.
The DMW boss said:”I already have the next album done. Yeah, I do! I had to pick out of 62 songs for this ‘Timeless’ album.
“Then we narrowed it down to 20 songs, then we narrowed it down to 18, 17 songs.”
When asked about the process it took to get the album done, Davido said; “Was the process of narrowing down the songs from 62 to the songs that’ll make the album that difficult?
“It’s the hardest process ever.
“Because it’s like today, you’re like, ‘Ah! You want this one’. And then like in two weeks, you don’t feel it no more. You want another one.
“And then the next two months, you’re like, ‘Yo, why did we take that song off?’”

Announcing the final date for the free Blue badge removal on his verified Twitter handle, Elon Musk wrote: “Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20.”
The removal of the Legacy Blue Tick of the Nigerian superstars may be connected to the non-payment of their verification subscription fee announced by Musk.
Reacting to his Blue Tick removal, in a tweet on Friday, Peter Okoye said, ”Elon Musk is a businessman period.”
Nigerian Singer Davido released his fourth album ‘Timeless’ on March 31, 2023. The highly anticipated album came off the back of a rare moment of silence from the megastar whose music has defined Afrobeats for the past decade.
While speaking to CNN, Davido revealed that he recorded about 62 while preparing for his new album.
“I had to pick out of 62 songs for ‘Timeless‘. We first narrowed it down to 20 songs than to 17 and 18 songs,” the hitmaker tells CNN’s African Voices.
Davido also narrated that the process of picking the songs that made the album was quite painstaking as there was a large pool of great songs to choose from.
“It’s the hardest process. Today, you say you want this one and in two weeks you’re not feeling it anymore and you want a new one.”
Davido also revealed that his next album was effectively done as he had enough new songs for a new project.
Davido has announced that there will be a ‘Timeless’ deluxe. He is also set to perform songs from his new album on April 23, 2023, at Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos and according to the hitmaker, the concert will be an unforgettable experience.
Nigerian superstar Davido allowed a guy with whom he shares a similar physical resemblance the liberty and privilege to perform his songs at a club.
Obo’s gesture comes at a time when Ghanaian celebrities are fighting some lookalikes who have reared their heads on the scene.
Several Ghanaian musicians have seen their lookalikes impersonating them and performing their songs at events.
Most of these artists have expressed their displeasure openly and privately against the lookalikes riding on their fame to chase clout.
Well, Davido appears not to be bothered at all. In fact, he has given his blessings to his lookalike and encouraged him to shine.
He was allowed to perform “Unavailable” at the club during Obi Cubana’s birthday bash. Davido and his crew joined in to enjoy his performance.
After the performance, he expressed his gratitude by writing: “Wow thanks ? to God I finally see @davido at @obi_cubana birthday ? @davido say make i perform unavailable for him cheee I don blow“.
